The contact owns a 2013 Ford Flex. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the "Power Steering Assist Fault" and "Service Advancetrac" messages were displayed. The contact stated that the power steering assist had failed to operate as needed and excessive force was needed to steer the vehicle. The contact also stated that the turn signals failed to operate as needed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the mechanic was not equipped with the tools to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 213,300.

A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure occurred two to three times per week. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (STEERING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. MY 2013 FORD FLEX ONLY HAS 109,600 MILES ON IT. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY AT THE MECHANIC SHOP. THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS WITH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST. SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST THREE WEEKS, WHEN I AM REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT SUDDENLY THE POWER ASSIST WARNING COMES ON AND THE CAR IS UNCONTROLLABLE. I HAVE HAD TO TOW IT TWICE. I AM NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO MANEUVER THE CAR WHEN IT LOCKS UP LIKE THAT. THERE WAS NO OTHER WARNING UNTIL I MADE THE ATTEMPT TO BACK UP THEN A WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON. THE MECHANIC WAS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM . HE MADE SOME OTHER REPAIRS TO THE WHEEL HUB BEARINGS, SO WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR AND IT DROVE FINE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS, I THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED. BUT IT FROZE UP AGAIN UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS--TRYING TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC AND ONCE AGAIN THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT HE SAID THERE WAS A RECORD OF THE WARNINGS IN THE SYSTEM. MY SAFETY AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF OTHER DRIVERS IS AT RISK, BECAUSE IF THIS GOES OUT WHILE IN TRANSIT, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR. I ENJOY MY FLEX, BUT THE REPAIRS HAVE BEEN SO MUCH LATELY. ONE OF THE RECENT REPAIRS WAS THE EMERGENCY BRAKE COSTING 1,200. THE WHEEL HUB BEARINGS WERE 1,400 AND NOW THIS POWER STEERING ASSIST REPAIR IS ESTIMATED TO BE QUITE PRICEY. I AM PARTIALLY HANDICAPPED, RETIRED AND LIVING ON A VERY LIMITED INCOME. THESE EXPENSES ARE OUTRAGEOUS FOR SUCH A NICE CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. DOES THIS MODEL HAVE ISSUES? I KEEP UP THE MAINTENANCE AND THE OIL CHANGES AND WHATEVER ELSE NEEDS TO BE DONE, BUT THESE EXPENSES ARE HITTING ALL AT ONCE AND PUTTING ME IN DEBT. IS THERE A POSSIBILITY THAT THERE IS A GLITCH IN THE MECHANICAL SYSTEM? I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND IT DOES SAY THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING ASSIST. My electric power steering went out while driving. Everywhere online says the 2013 flex has a recall for this but when I enter my vin it says no recall. There has been several claims of this on my model year and accidents and dangers reported. I want to know my my vehicle isn’t showing up for the recall when it’s never been replaced by ford so it should be replaced by Ford.

The backup camera went out, but first it went upside down. Not inverted, just upside down. It's definitely a safety issue as I can't see fully behind me. I've seen the later models have the same issue and recall for them but not the older models with the same issue.

While driving, the radio turns off and the climate control system malfunctions causing the heater to engage to high with no way to turn the system off. All controls are disabled and there is no way to turn the system off. Unplugged the battery for 30 minutes as suggested, removed fuses to the radio and climate control module which temporarily fixes the issue, but issue happens randomly and creates excessive heat in the cabin. This is the 5th time this has happened. It is the 3rd time while on long trips (3hrs or longer). Others online have mentioned the same. We had to ride with the windows and moonroof open to let the heat escape. First time occurred in 2019 in early December. Navigation still worked, but all other systems would not function.

Vehicle would not start after 3 days of not being started or driven. After having the battery jumped the climate control unit malfunctioned. The heat would not turn off and stayed on full blast. This caused the car to overheat and difficult to drive even with the windows down. When brought to the dealership service center, they replaced the heater blower. This fixed the issue temporarily. Then the heat stopped working and in single digit temperatures the vehicle was too cold to drive. The dealership replaced the resistor. This again became a temporary fix. The heat came back but then the vehicle battery kept draining. Having some type of electrical issue put the vehicle at a possible risk for short circuiting, catching fire etc. This is an ongoing issue with ALL YEARS of the Ford Flex. When the vehicle is jump started this causes an electrical short affecting the climate control system but also the entire communication system. .

The 2013 Flex has an issue with door ajar switch within the door latch mechanism failing. This results in the car incorrectly identifying the door as “ajar” when it is closed. The result is that the automatic door locking does not activate when the car is in motion. This means that the door remains unlocked unless manually locked by the passenger. This can pose a safety hazard as the door could come open in an accident or be opened while in motion by a passenger. This problem has been well described on the web with multiple work around including disabling the mechanism or wiring a different switch in. It also described as typically happening around 69,000 miles. In conclusion Ford has created a faulty door ajar sensor that negatively affects the safety of the occupants in the vehicles and has resulted in numerous work arounds that could further negatively impact the safety of the occupants. Right rear passanger "Door Ajar" comes on all the time when the door is fully closed. In the beginning was able to get it to stop by opening and closing the door several times, now its continual. The interior lights stay on, causing Hazardous condition while driving, due to inability to see what is in the Rearview Mirrow, Chimes continuously.

THE REAR- VIEW BACK UP CAMERA DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT IN REVERSE. IT WORKS INTEMITTEDLY. Rear view camera on my 2013 Ford Flex failing in same manner as other models recalled by Ford for failed rear view cameras. Initial failure was a few years ago after original mfr warranty period, however it is my understanding that the recalled models have extended warranty to 15 years. As such, since this is the same type of component, it is clear that my 2013 flex should also be recalled and covered through the 2028 calendar year. Undoubtedly, the root cause of this failure is inherent in the design and manufacture of all generations of backup cameras deployed by Ford and not limited to certain manufacturing dates. NHTSA should not allow itself to be misled by Ford into a narrower scope of recall.

There seems to be a fuel leak on my vehicle's fuel tank. When the tank is half full and more there is a noticable fuel smell around my car and fuel dripping under my car. When the fuel is less than half full, the fuel seems to stop leaking. I believe the seam in the gas tank is leaking. I have heard of other people with my same year and vehicle having the same issues so I figured it was worth reporting.

THIRD TIME HAVING THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED . PUMP FAILS EVERY 20-30K MILES. CAR WILL STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING ON ROADWAYS, UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. HAD TO PULL OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND WAIT FOR TOW. 1ST TIME 36,000 MILES 2ND 53,000, 3RD 90,000. ALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED BY FORD SERVICE CENTER

I TRIED STARTING THE CAR IT WOULD START THEN SPUTTER OUT VERY SHORTLY AFTER, AFTER HAVING THIS OCCUR 3 TIMES THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER AT ALL AND HAD TO GET A TOW. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, IT SAT FOR A DAY THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE CAR STARTED UP AND THEY WERE ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR WITHOUT AN ISSUE. THEY PRICED THE WORK AT $700+ TO BE COMPLETED. THE RECALL NUMBER 16V621000 (OR 16S31) DID NOT SHOW THOUGH IT IS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE HE DESCRIBED.

PUMP IS IN HIGH DEMAND, PRICES ARE THUS HIGHER THAN USUAL AND ALSO UNAVAILABLE THRU ANYONE BUT FORD DIRECTLY. MY CAR WAS, THANKFULLY, IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED AND WAS TOWED TO LOCAL SHOP.

Repeated problems with door latch system in 2013 Ford Flex. Door is interpreted as being ajar, despite being closed. Two warning lights/messages to this effect persist, interior lights will not turn off (which drains the battery), doors will not automatically lock while driving in this condition and as I understand it, if an accident occurred, the airbags would NOT deploy due to the doors not being 'locked'. This is a serious safety issue and causes continual drain on the battery if left in this condition. The only way to sometimes get it to recognize the door being shut is to repeatedly close the door, often having to slam the door shut; this can take up to 15 attempts. Driver's door has been cycled & subsequently replaced six months later. We are taking it in now for a likely 2nd replacement on this door alone. The rear right passenger door & front passenger door have each been replaced as well. The first two repairs/replacement on the driver's door were under warranty, the remaining 2 replacements (and upcoming additional replacement) have been and will be at our own cost. This same door latch system has been recalled on three different occasions on other Ford models, yet not on the Flex. There should be a recall on this 2013 Ford Flex and we should get refunds for our out-of-pocket costs for this repeated and known problem.

The rear power lift gate will at times unexpectedly come down on you while you’re standing under it and won’t go back up… it has hit me in my head multiple times… and may be the cause of the compressed disc in my cervical spine… it happens mostly when it’s cold, but now that it’s 65° (Los Angeles) it’s still doing it

The right rear door keeps showing that it's open on the dash when its physically closed. The alarm goes off at night when the vehicle is locked because the door will randomly show it's open when its actually closed. I was told by Ford that the parts were $450 plus dollars to fix the problem and that's not including labor. Ive also found out that I'm not the only Flex owner dealing with this issue that should be covered under warranty.

The passenger-side front door latch sensor is defective. The door latches securely when closed, but the door AJAR warning light remains illuminated. This leads to several issues including: - interior lights don't turn off for a very long time after the door is closed (i.e. on the order of 30 minutes after parking and 5 minutes when driving), - the alarm system goes off randomly and frequently when the vehicle is parked and locked (sometimes multiple times per hour), - the feature that auto-locks the doors when the vehicle is in motion does not work, - if one locks the doors while the vehicle is in motion, they will immediately unlock themselves. The above issues lead to several safety concerns including: - the interior lights being on makes it difficult to see while driving at night, - the interior being illuminated after the vehicle is parked and locked creates a security exposure, - the child safety lock features do not function as intended as the doors cannot lock while the vehicle is in motion, - the alarm system repeatedly triggering is annoying as there is no way to turn off the alarm system. That is, if the car is locked, then the system is armed and will trigger in time. The rear passenger-side door had this same issue a few years ago. Ford has a Customer Satisfaction Program recall for this issue (19N09), but it only applies to the driver door and only for cars less than 7 years old.

THIS STARTED AS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND NOW IS CONSTANT EVERY TIME THE DOOR IS OPENED AND CLOSED, THERE IS NO CHANGE OF THE PASSENGER DOOR AJAR STATUS.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Flex. The contact stated that she attempted to close the rear passenger’s side door however, the door failed to latch. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the latch failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact then stated that while closing the front driver’s side door, the door failed to latch securely. Due to the failure, the contact had to drive holding the door closed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the latch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided the number to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000. The VIN was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Flex. The contact stated that on several occasions while stopped or attempting to drive over 10 MPH, the door ajar warning light illuminated, indicating that the front and rear passenger’s side doors were open however, the doors were closed. The contact then stated that while attempting to lock all the doors, the doors unlocked instead and activated the interior lighting. My back up camera show upside down or sometimes it shows a black screen. People have a habit of walking behind me when I’m backing up and I can’t see them. The warning beep sounds but I can’t tell if it a car or person behind me. When it first happen months ago I tried resetting camera, it didn’t work. Not sure if my extended warranty covers this.

THE FORD DEALER'S CERTIFIED REPAIR TECHNICIANS CHARGE TO REPLACE THE SENSOR, BUT I HAVE HAD THIS PART REPLACED 3 TIMES AND THE DEFECT CONTINUES TO OCCUR.

THE DOOR AJAR SENSOR STAYS ON EVEN AFTER THE DOOR IS SHUT. TWO DOORS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE REPAIRED ALREADY IN THE PAST, NOW A PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED DOOR AND ANOTHER DOOR ARE COMING UP ON THE DASH SCREEN AS DOOR AJAR. THIS CAUSES THE INTERIOR DOME LIGHTS TO COME ON, WHICH DRAINS THE BATTERY AND THE ALARM TO RANDOMLY GO OFF AT NIGHT WHILE THE ALARM IS SET AND THE DOOR "OPENS AND CLOSES" AS THE CAR CAR IS THINKING IS HAPPENING WITHOUT DISARMING FIRST. THE DOME LIGHT ALSO STAYS ON FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS WHILE DRIVING, WHICH IS DISTRACTING AT NIGHT. THE DOORS WILL NO LONGER AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHILE DRIVING EITHER SINCE THE CAR THINKS THE DOORS ARE OPEN. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEYOND FORD.

VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT. PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND THE AA8A-9D412-CA FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS EXTREMELY HOT AND VEHICLE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. PULLED CONNECTOR AND LET THE RELAY COOL. REINSTALLED CONNECTOR AND VEHICLE STARTED WITH NO ISSUES. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I ORDERED A NEW RELAY AND REPLACED THE UNIT. VEHICLE WAS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH TRAFFIC AROUND. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

ON THURSDAY, APRIL 6TH 2017, I WENT OUT TO MY CAR (STATIONARY) AND IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD JUST DRIVEN IT TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR EARLIER. THERE HAD BEEN NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATIONS. FORD CERTIFIED PRE OWNED WARRANTY COVERED THE TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DIAGNOSE VEHICLE THE SAME DAY AND I HAD TO RENT A VEHICLE. ON FRIDAY, DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY FUEL PUMP MODULE. THEY INDICATED TO ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CERTIFIED PRE OWNED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. I CALLED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY WHICH COVERED ONLY A PORTION OF THE REPAIRS AND THEY DID NOT COVER THE RENTAL CAR AMOUNT. THE TOTAL AMOUNT FOR SERVICE WAS $856. I PAID $537 OF THAT PLUS AND ADDITIONAL $40 FOR THE RENTAL CAR. ON MONDAY, APRIL 10TH, I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT CERTAIN 2013 FORD FLEXES HAD A RECALL ON FUEL PUMP MODULES. YOUR WEBSITE LISTED, "FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTION MAY CAUSE ENGINE STALL. A LOSS OF POWER TO THE FUEL PUMP WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL OR PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. FORD'S NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 16S31." I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY CHECKED MY VIN NUMBER. THEY INDICATED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. I WAS SHOCKED AS THIS IS THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM THAT OTHER VEHICLES HAD. I BELIEVE THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS AND SHOULD REIMBURSE ME. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE BEEN DRIVING OR HAVE MY CHILDREN WITH ME WHEN THE MODULE STOPPED WORKING. I WOULD APPRECIATE NHTSA LOOKING INTO THIS MATTER AND FOLLOWING UP.

Power steering. While I was driving in my neighborhood the power steering went out and I could not make a turn. It locked up while driving. I could have got into a head on collision/accident becasue the road turns. Yes, I reported it to Ford and they told me my flex did not have a recall despite the ford website stating that some 2013 ford flex are affected. The description of 15s18 sterring recall matches my same issue and it poses a serious safety hazard. Yes, i took it to a mechanic at an auto shop and her is telling me that he can't fix recalls. At the time of the accident, i got No pre warning just the message that states: "Steering Lock Malfunction Service Now: The steering lock system has detected a condition that requires service." This happened on or around 11/23/25. I am requesting that Ford pay for my power steering to be fixed.

Power steering no longer works. Getting message on dash as well. I see a recall for my year truck but my vin apparently is not one included. It’s our only transportation and my daughter, my fiancé and myself all have multiple weekly therapy/dr appointments. Please consider adding my vin to the recall. As far as electrical my alarm will randomly go off while it’s not running/parked. Thinks doors are open when they are not. Thank you

The power steering assist stopped working while I was driving. It caused me to get into an accident. If other cars were around me I could have killed someone. I was driving just fine and then “POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT” showed up on my cluster and the steering wheel locked up. It now won’t work. This came without warning.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2013 FORD FLEX THE POWER STEERING DISAPPEARED AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED IT OFF, WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP THE POWER STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. I STOPPED AT MY DESTINATION BUT WHEN I RETURNED TO LEAVE I FOUND THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT RESPONDING. I DROVE IT HOME WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY. THIS REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE NEXT TWO WEEKS, FUNCTIONING AT THE START OF THE DAY BUT FAILING AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. THE POWER STEERING FINALLY GAVE OUT ALTOGETHER. I CHECKED AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT WAS ANNOUNCED ON JUNE 02 OF 2015 FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE COVERING FORD FLEXES FROM 2010 TO 2013. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY FORD DEALERSHIP TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED. I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED A FEW MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL DATE, WHICH COVERED VEHICLES MANUFACTURED UP UNTIL FEB 28TH OF 2012. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND ONE, HOW DOES A RECALL COVER THE YEARS 2010 TO 2013 BUT HAS AN END DATE FOR ELIGIBILITY OF 2012?, THE RECALL WAS ANNOUNCED ON JUNE 02 OF 2015 AND MY VEHICLE SUFFERED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE OF THOSE THAT THE RECALL EXTEND TO. IN SEPTEMBER, THE DRIVERS SIDE SECOND ROW SEATBELT BROKE, THE MALE CONNECTION. I CALLED OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $750 TO REPLACE. WE STARTED USING THE THIRD ROW INSTEAD. JUST TODAY, THE FEMALE CONNECTION ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SECOND ROW SEAT BROKE. FORD IS TELLING ME THEY WON'T REPLACE THE SEATBELTS. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPLACE THEM. AND I DON'T THINK SUCH AN ESSENTIAL SAFETY FEATURE SHOULD BE LEFT TO US FOR A VEHICLE LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PERRY FORD OF POWAY (12740 POWAY RD, POWAY, CA 92064, (858) 748-1400), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE SEAT BELTS WERE REPLACED FIVE TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. IN ADDITION, THE SECOND ROW DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT JAMMED AND UNJAMMED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH OUR BACKSEATS' SEATBELTS NOT WORKING PROPERLY FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS. THEY CONSTANTLY GET STUCK, DON'T CLICK IN, DON'T RETRACT, AND MORE RECENTLY, PLASTICS PARTS FELL OFF. WE HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR TO COCONUT POINT FORD IN ESTERO, FL NUMEROUS TIMES COMPLAINING OF SEATBELT ISSUES. LAST WEEK, THEY TOLD US THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE TWO REAR SEATBELT MECHANISMS (FOR $870.06!). A DAY AFTER THE REPAIR WAS DONE, WE FOUND THREE PLASTIC PARTS TO THE SEATBELTS (SEE PHOTO) ON THE SEAT. I AM QUITE CONCERNED THAT THE SEATBELTS IN THE CAR ARE DEFECTIVE AND WILL NOT PROTECT US AND OUR FOUR CHILDREN IN THE EVENT OF IMPACT. THIS CAR IS A 2013, AND THE SEATBELTS SHOULD NOT BE BREAKING!!!!

ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING MY VEHICLE, ONE OF THE INFLATABLE SEATBELT BUCKLES CRACKED AT THE BUCKLE CASING. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE SECOND SEAT BELT BUCKLE CRACKED. I HAD BOTH BUCKLES REPLACED AND NOW I HAVE A 3RD BUCKLE CRACK. THIS MAKES THE SEATBELTS UNSAFE AND DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. ADDITIONALLY, THE TOP PART OF THE SEAT BELT (WHERE THE INFLATABLE PORTION ORIGINATES) BECOMES TWISTED AND STUCK AT THE TOP, AND MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PULL OUT THE SEAT BELT AND USE IT. THIS INFLATABLE SEATBELT FEATURE IS IN THE SECOND ROW WHERE MY CHILDREN SIT. THEY ARE UNABLE TO USE THE SEATBELTS UNASSISTED AS THEY ARE HEAVY AND DIFFICULT TO MANIPULATE EVEN WHEN THEY ARE WORKING PROPERLY. THIS NEW FEATURE IS UNSAFE AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO BUCKLE EACH AND EVERY TIME THEY ARE USED. I PAID TO HAVE THESE SPECIAL SEATBELTS INCLUDED WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND EVEN CHOSE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS NEW SPECIAL FEATURE. ALSO, DOORS DO NOT AUTO LOCK WHEN CAR IS PARKED FOR SOME TIME AND DOORS DO NOT AUTO LOCK WHILE DRIVING. VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH CHILDREN TRAVELING WITH ME EVERYDAY IN THE BACK SEATS. I HATE TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN IF I HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIR BAGS DON'T DEPLOY BECAUSE THE SENSORS INDICATE THE DOOR IS OPEN. THE VEHICLE INCORRECTLY BELIEVES THE DOORS ARE OPEN WHEN THEY ARE SHUT. THIS PREVENTS THE DOORS FROM LOCKING AT ALL SPEEDS, WHICH IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION. IF AN OCCUPANT TRIES TO LOCK THE DOORS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY UNLOCKS THE DOORS. THE ISSUE ALSO CAUSES THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO STAY ILLUMINATED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND UNTIL THE VEHICLE REACHES AN APPROPRIATE SPEED WHEN IN USE. THE OPEN/CLOSED STATE OF THE DOOR CHANGES AT RANDOM (WITHOUT THE ACTUAL DOOR BEING OPENED OR CLOSED) AND CAUSES THE ALARM TO RANDOMLY GO OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED. THE COMBINATION OF THE LIGHTS STAYING ILLUMINATED AND THE ALARM GOING OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED DRAINED AND RUINED THE BATTERY IN THE VEHICLE. The contact owns a 2013 Ford Flex. The contact stated while driving at highway speeds, the front end of the vehicle was shaking and vibrating, and the steering wheel was difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there was no recall on the VIN. There was no assistance provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

I THEN BROUGHT IT TO KELLY FORD AND THEY ARE STATING THAT THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING RACK MUST BE REPLACED! THEY STATED THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY VIN AND THAT I HAD NO WARRANTY! I BEGAN RESEARCH AND THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 500,000 CARS RECALLED FOR THE SAME EXACT REASON BUTVFORD INSIST THAT MINE IS NOT COVERED! I ALSO CONSTANTES FORD MOTORS AND THEY HAD ME FILE A CASE WHICH DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! THE DEALER QUOTED ME THAT THIS WAS A 2,000 DOLLAR JOB! RECENTLY, I DISCOVERED THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A RECALL NOTICE 15S18 FOR THIS ISSUE. ON MONDAY JULY 27, 2015, I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE REPAIR. I had a recall for the driver door latch to be replaced. The very day that it was replaced, I get in, start my vehicle and the passenger door light comes on showing that it's open but it wasn't. I immediately go back inside to ask the service department since they literally just replaced the recalled drivers door latch. They stated that "it's a coincidence " and that it would cost to fix it. I drove it for as long as I could but my alarm would randomly go off and lights start blinking. I was afraid I'd come out oand my vehicle not start due to the battery being dead because of the alarm and lights going off. I broke down and paid to have the passenger door light fixed which the Ford service department told me it would. The EXACT same thing happened and now my back passenger door light keeps coming on!! Alarm randomly goes off and lights blink. I can't afford to gix this again. They told me it would fix the problem yet once they replaced the recalled door latch this has now happened with other doors.

WHILE DRIVING ON I-5 A HEAVY HEAVY RAIN WAS COMING DOWN AND I HAD MY WIPERS ON THE HIGH SETTING AND THEY WORKED FOR A LITTLE BIT AND THEN STOPPED MOVING AT A HIGH SPEED. The front drivers door latch. When the door is shut their is an alarm stating that the door is ajar. Per Ford their is a Customer Satisfaction Program 19N09 for it. I bought this vechicle Monday June 20, 2022. Per Ford they notified me of this issue as well but they will not fix it as it is past the 84,000 miles/7 years as well as the 120,000 miles and July 31, 2020. This vechile per the records has been services at Thoroughbred Ford in Kansas City, MO since the day it was bought and yet it has not been fixed? And now they are not willing to fix it.

VEHICLE DID NOT SHUT OFF, BUT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD NO LONGER OPERATE OR REV THE ENGINE. COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURNED OFF. UPON RESTART VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. TURNED AROUND TO HEAD HOME. PULLED OUT FROM SIDE STREET AND IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME. THIS TIME WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AS WELL. HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC COMING A SEVERE ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. AGAIN, TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING RESOLVED (TEMPORARILY) THE ISSUE. IN THE NEXT 3 MILES TO GET HOME, IT OCCURRED 3 MORE TIMES. FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT TO BE A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY, PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED. FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE AND HAS "COVERED" SOME MODELS, BUT STILL IGNORES THE DANGER.

PURCHASED CAR IN FEB. 2013. IN OCT 2014 I BEGAN TAKING MY FLEX TO SUNLAND FORD SERVICE CENTER DUE TO DOOR AJAR WARNING LIGHTS ON BOTH RIGHT SIDE DOORS. THE SERVICE CENTER WOULD DISASSEMBLE AND CLEAN DOOR ASSEMBLY. THERE WOULD BE NO MORE WARNING LIGHTS FOR SEVERAL WEEKS AND THEN THE PROBLEM WOULD PERSIST OF THE DOORS APPEARING AJAR. FINALLY, SERVICE CENTER DECIDED TO FULLY REPLACE DOOR ASSEMBLY ON BACK DOOR LATCH BUT PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. SERVICE CENTER REPLACED BACK DOOR ASSEMBLY IN DECEMBER OF 2014. MY PASSENGER DOOR CONTINUES TO SHOW THE DOOR AJAR AND MY WARRANTY EXPIRED FEBRUARY 2015. I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM TODAY AND HAVE CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO WHICH THEY CLAIM THIS IS NOT A KNOWN PROBLEM. THERE ARE SEVERAL SAFETY CONCERNS. 1) IN MOTION: DOME LIGHTS DON'T SHUT OFF HINDERING VISIBILITY FOR THE FIRST 2-5 MINUTES OF NIGHT DRIVING. 2) STATIONARY OR IN MOTION: DOORS CANNOT BE LOCKED WHILE CAR IS ON AND PARKED. DOOR LATCH AND DOOR SENSORS OVER THE COURSE OF AT LEAST A YEAR, FORD HAS BEEN RECALLING VEHICLES BECAUSE OF A FAULTY DOOR LATCH. FORD HAS NOT RECALLED THE FLEX. SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVED WITH THE DOOR LATCH INCLUDE THE INABILITY TO LOCK THE DOOR FOR SAFETY BECAUSE IF THE SENSOR REGISTERS THE DOOR IS OPEN, THE DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT ENGAGE. THERE IS ALSO A KNOCKING SOUND FROM THE DOORS WITH A FAULTY LATCH. IT SOUNDS AS IF THE LATCHES ARE NOT FULLY ENGAGED. AS A RESULT OF THE SENSOR PROBLEM, INSIDE LIGHTS RUN FOR HOURS ON END AS IF A DOOR IS OPEN, RUNNING DOWN A PERFECTLY NEW AND CHARGED BATTERY. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FORD CORPORATE AND DEALERSHIPS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT THEY SAID IT WILL NOT BE FIXED ON THEIR DIME UNTIL A RECALL IS ISSUED. ASSUMINGLY, IF OTHER MODELS ARE BEING RECALLED BECAUSE OF SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE DOOR LATCHES, THE FORD FLEX, WHICH ALSO HAS DOOR LATCH PROBLEMS SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR SAFETY AS WELL. FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT WOULD RATHER FLEX OWNERS PAY $500 PER LATCH TO ENSURE OUR FAMILY IS SAFE WHILE RIDING IN A NEGLIGENTLY MANUFACTURED VEHICLE. FOR A VERY LONG TIME, THE LIGHT INDICATING THE PASSENGER FRONT DOOR IS OPEN HAS BEEN COMING ON, EVEN THOUGH THE DOOR IS FIRMLY SHUT. WE HAVE 16,980 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AND BOUGHT THE VEHICLE 1 YEAR AND 3 MONTHS AGO BRAND NEW. THE TIRES ARE HANKOOK H426, 255/45/R20. DOT 5MNB PDLH 4112, 4112, 4112, AND2012. THE CAR STEERS STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW. THE FORD DEALER HAS VERIFIED ALL IS WELL WITH THE SUSPENSION AND STEERING. WE HAVE FOUND ALL FOUR TIRES, ARE STARTING TO PEEL APART ON THE INNER AND OUTER ROW OF TREADS ONLY. TO DATE, THERE ARE 100 PEEL BACKS AND AS MANY HOLES. ALL OF THE UN-WRAPPINGS ARE APPROXIMATELY 10MM IN DIAMETER, 1-2MM DEEP, SHAPED LIKE A TEAR DROP. SOME OF THE POINTS OF THE TEARDROPS FACE TO THE FRONT OF THE TIRE ROTATION AND OTHERS FACE DIRECTLY TO THE REAR OF THE TIRE ROTATION. THE RUBBER IS PEELED BACK AT THE POINT OF THE TEARDROP, AND AFTER A FEW DAYS, THE TEARDROP IS TORN OFF, LEAVING A TEAR DROPPED SHAPED HOLE 1-2MM DEEP. THIS IS A FAMILY VEHICLE, WITH THREE SMALL KIDS. CURRENT FORD SAFETY RECALL #16S31 (NHTSA #16V621) IS LIMITED ONLY TO FORD/LINCOLN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE ECOBOOST TURBOCHARGED ENGINE. THE FAULTY COMPONENT ON MY NORMALLY ASPIRATED ENGINE, FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE #AA8Z-9D370-B, IS THE SAME COMPONENT BEING REPLACED ON VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THE #16V621 NHTSA SAFETY RECALL. TO AVOID ENGINES SHUTTING OFF AT SPEED OR NOT STARTING, IT APPEARS THAT THE RECALL WILL NEED TO BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE NORMALLY ASPIRATED ENGINES AS WELL. WE WERE FORTUNATE BECAUSE OUR VEHICLE FAILED SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY, NOT AT 75 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAD PROBLEMS WITH BOTH THE POWER STEERING AND THE FUEL DELIVER ON MY FLEX. IN BOTH CASES I FOUND RECALL NOTICES THAT ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS NOTED IN THE RECALLS. IN THE CASE OF THE POWER STEERING THE DEALER REPLACED THE MODULE FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT SAID MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. NOW I'M HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL DELIVERY EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL BUT THE DEALER STILL SAYS MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THERE ARE MORE VEHICLES THAN ORIGINALLY DETERMINED THAT ARE HAVING PROBLEMS. THE DEALER IN THIS CASE IS VILLAGE FORD, 23535 MICHIGAN, DEARBORN, MI. 48124. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WAS LOST WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A STEERING RACK FAILURE, WHICH NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST. THE MANUFACTURER'S WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, A CASE WAS OPENED, AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,018.

WE WERE IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD AND WERE ONLY GOING ABOUT 15- 20 MPH. OUR CHIMES CONTINUED TO GO OFF AND STILL TO THIS DAY WE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WE HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP MANY TIMES AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP DID TELL US THAT THEY ARE AWARE THAT THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE SENSORS BUT THAT THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ANY RECALLS. THEY DID CHANGE ONE OF THE SENSORS FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AT OUR OWN EXPENSE, HOWEVER IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT IS GOING OFF STILL AND NOW THE DRIVER FRONT ONE IS STARTING AS WELL AS A "SHIFT TO PARK" SENSOR. THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND THE LIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF INSIDE THE CAR. AS FAR AS THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM GOES. IT WILL SLIP INTO NEUTRAL AS YOU ARE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED MAY TIMES AND IT IS GOING TO CAUSE A SERIOUS CAR ACCIDENT. YOU HAVE TO STOP THE CAR, TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART IT IN ORDER FOR IT TO GO BACK INTO DRIVE. WE HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE DEALERSHIPS ATTENTION HOWEVER EVERY TIME WE TAKE IT INTO THERE THEY SAY THEY CANT SEE OR FIND A PROBLEM WITH IT. IT IS VERY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE WE MAKE A CAR PAYMENT EVERY MONTH ON A VEHICLE WE DON'T DRIVE. WE HAVE A 2009 FLEX THAT WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH WHICH IS WHY WE PURCHASED A NEWER ONE WITH A LOT LESS MILES! THE DOOR FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR SENSOR WENT BAD AND TELLS CAR THAT DOOR IS AJAR. THIS WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY LAST YEAR. NOW YESTERDAY THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SENSOR. THIS WAS QUOTED TO ME AT $700. THIS IS RIDICULOUS FOR A BAD DOOR SENSOR THAT FORD HAS PUT BAD AND FAULTY SENSORS ON. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR .THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN TOWN SAID, "THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD FLEX". The contact owns a 2013 Ford Flex. The contact recently purchased the vehicle. When the vehicle was purchased, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle had a failure with the steering wheel. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel was difficult to maneuver. The message "Service Advancetrac" was displayed on the instrument panel, and an unknown message about the steering was displayed. In addition, while in reverse(R), the contact used force to turn the steering wheel. Most recently, the contact stated that when the turn signal lever was activated, the turn signal lever failed to stay down as intended. The contact had to hold the turn signal lever down to signal a right or left turn. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the dealer related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (STEERING). However, the VIN was not included in the recall. While driving, just as I turned my steering wheel; it got very stiff to turn. If I was not able to turn, I easily could have drove into someone's house, pedestrians or hit other vehicles both parked and driving on the road. Especially if I were going very much faster and didn't have as much strength as I do. A week before this happened, I got a quick flash of a message twice that read "AdvanceTrack needs service". But after that ine trip a week ago, it never popped back up and still hasn't. Other than that, no warning lights or codes xan be found. I made it home (less than a half mile away). After having it checked by 2 different mechanics, both said it was the electric steering and told me to check the recalls for my 2013 Ford Flex SEL. I found that my particular VIN did NOT have the 2 recalls that affected numerous Ford vehicles with Electric Steering, including THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL of my Ford Flex. The recall is for the power steering. I've also seen numerous other posts on fordflex.net where this has affected many Ford Flex vehicles from 2009 to 2018 with electric steering. The other issue I had is a known recall for other Ford Flex vehicles, but not my VIN, just like the previous. I was driving on the highway when my dash starts beeping and flashing at me wiyh an overheating issue. I had to do my best to get off the highway. Thankfully I was stopped when this happened and not far from the turn I needed to get me and my car to safety. Turned out to be the internal water pump. It cost me around $2,000.00 to get it fixed.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW FROM SANDERSON FORD IN GLENDALE AZ AND NOTICED AFTER A HARD ACCELERATION WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING SET TO RECIRCULATE. THE DEALER STATED THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE AND I TOOK IT BACK HOME. YEARS PAST AND IT WAS TAKEN BACK AGAIN AND SAME THING THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE DUE TO THERE WAS NO MECHANIC THAT COULD DRIVE IT AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN RIGHT, I CROSSED A LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND HIT A TREE ON SUNDAY 11 18 18. I WAS ON HIGHWAY 70 IN KINGSTON TENNESSEE, HEADED EASTBOUND. THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY LOOSE AND IN A BIND AS IF THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED WITH KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HIT THE TREE DOING ABOUT 35 MPH TO 40 MPH WHEN STEERING BECAME INOP AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT EVEN DEPLOY. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE FROM 50 MPH TO AROUND 35 MILES AN HOUR BEFORE STRIKING THE TREE OR COULD'VEBEEN MUCH WORSE. I SUSTAINED SHOULDER INJURY AND CAN ONLY HOPE THAT THIS VEHICLE BECOMES PART OF THE RECALL BECAUSE I COULD HAVE VERY EASILY HIT SOMEBODY HEAD ON AND KILLED SOMEONE OR MYSELF. I ALSO BELIEVE THIS MIGHT BE THE REASON THE ALARM/PANIC RANDOMLY AND QUITE OFTEN GOES OFF. SECONDLY THE THIRD ROW SEATS NO LONGER OPERATE CORRECTLY FROM THE PANEL IN THE REAR CARGO AREA. IT CLICKS AND TRY'S TO MOVE BUT WILL ALWAYS RETURN TO THE NORMAL POSITION MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO USE THEM TO ALLOW EXTRA STORAGE SPACE. I HAVE A 2013 FORD FLEX SEL WITH 60K+ MILES ORIGINALLY PURCHASED WITH 13K MILES IN 2013. I HAVE HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH MY DOOR LATCH. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH ALL DOORS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MY LEFT BACK DOOR. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE LOOKED AT MULTIPLE TIMES AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP WITH MOST RECENTLY THIS PAST WEEKEND. THE MECHANIC ATTEMPTED TO CLEAN MY DOOR LATCHES ON THE PASSENGER SIDE (FRONT AND BACK) DOORS AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I AM UNABLE TO LOCK MY DOORS. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOOK EACH DOOR BY ROLLING DOWN MY WINDOWS AND GETTING OUT AND MANUALLY PUSHING DOWN THE LOCK. HOWEVER, WHILE DRIVING MY DOOR AJAR LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON AS WELL AS MY INSIDE LIGHTS,MY DOORS WILL AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK. I CAN'T TURN MY ALARM ON AND 75% OF THE TIME LEAVE MY DOORS UNLOCKED. I ASSUME MY DOOR IS PROMPTED AS IF SOMEONE IS TRYING TO OPEN MY DOOR WHEN MY CAR IS OFF WHICH IN RETURN CAUSES MY ALARM TO GO OFF. IT HAS BEEN MANY TIMES WHEN I HAVE WENT TO THE PARKING GARAGE AND MY LIGHTS ARE FLASHING, OR I GET A CALL THAT MY ALARM IS GOING OFF, OR I AM AWAKENED/STARTLED IN MY HOUSE WHEN IT GOES OFF IN THE GARAGE. MY CONCERN AND FEAR IS THAT SOMEONE WILL OPEN MY DOOR WHILE IM DRIVING/STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED MY BATTERY AND I'M SURE IT WAS DUE TO MY ALARMS CONSTATNLY GOING OFF OR DOME LIGHT/DASH BOARD COMING ON ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP IT IS A LONG WAIT ON THE NEW AND IMPROVED REPLACEMENT LATCH. I HAVE SCHEDULEDTO TAKE MY CAR BACK YET AGAIN NEXT MONDAY TO SEE IF I CAN GET ON THE LIST FOR A NEW LATCH. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH HOW FORD IS HANDLING THIS ISSUE. I WAS TURNING A CORNER AND SOMETHING POPPED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT STEER. THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED THE CAR WAS THE CURVE, AS I WAS MAKING THE TURN, AND THAT CAUSED A LOT OF DAMAGE. SUTTON FORD LINCOLN IN MATTESON, IL SAID THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE LEMON-FORD-FLEX THAT WAS SOLD TO ME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS 300 MILES OUT OF THE WARRANTY. SUTTON FORD LINCOLN IN MATTESON, IL THAN SAID IT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPORTED TO INSURANCE. SO I REPORTED IT TO INSURANCE AND THE REPAIR SHOP, THAT WAS REPAIRING THE DAMAGES, SAID THEY FOUND DAMAGE TO THE RADIATOR (1,500 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGES) WHICH COULD NOT HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE CAR HITTING THE CURVE. AND THAT IT LOOKED LIKE SUTTON FORD LINCOLN IN MATTESON, IL RAISED THE CAR INAPPROPRIATELY AND CAUSED THE RADIATOR DAMAGE. THE REPAIR COMPANY SAID, SINCE THE ORIGINAL PLACE WHERE THE FLEX WAS TOWED TO (SUTTON FORD LINCOLN IN MATTESON, IL) WAS LOCATED RIGHT BEHIND THEM (ACROSS THE ALLEY), SUTTON FORD LINCOLN IN MATTESON, IL CAUSED THE DAMAGE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RESTRAIN THE CONTACT, WHO WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. ON 7/20/13 I DROPPED OFF THE FLEX AT THE DEALER FOR THE TIMELY SERVICE AND ALSO TO HAVE THE A/C CHECKED. FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS A TERRIBLE ODOR HAS BEEN COMING FROM THE A/C AND AFTER THE CAR WAS UNUSED FOR A DAY, THE ODOR WAS UNBEARABLE WHEN WE TURNED ON THE CAR A/C. ON 7/22/13 AT THE END OF THE WORK DAY, THE SERVICE DEPT CALLED STATING ALL WORK WAS COMPLETED, THAT THE A/C WAS WORKING PROPERLY AND THAT THERE WAS NO A/C PROBLEMS TO REPAIR. WHEN I AGAIN INFORMED THEM ABOUT THE TERRIBLE ODOR, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FLEX HAS A PROBLEM WITH MILDEW IN THE A/C BUT THAT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I DID NOT PICK UP MY CAR FROM SERVICE AND CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER TO INFORM HIM/HER OF WHAT I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR.THE SERVICE MANAGER AGREED THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FLEX A/C, THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THIS A/C ISSUE AS OF A YEAR AGO, BUT THAT THERE WAS NO SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WAS INFORMED THAT A REGIONAL REP WOULD CALL ME IN TWO DAYS. I SAID THAT I COULD NOT PICK UP THE CAR AS MY DAUGHTER SUFFERS FROM UPPER RESPIRATORY AILMENTS AND THAT I WOULD NOT PICK UP THE CAR UNTIL THE MOLD AND MILDEW WAS REMOVED AND THE PROBLEM FIXED. I INFORMED THEM THAT I NEEDED A CAR IN THE MEANTIME TO GHETTO WORK, ETC. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME A LOANER AND THAT I SHOULD GET A RENTAL CAR AT MY OWN EXPENSE AND THAT THERE MAY, OR MAY NOT, BE A POSSIBILITY OF A REFUND FOR THE RENTAL EXPENSE.
