76000 MILES; ISSUE ONGOING BEGINNING IN NOVEMBER 2018 ON DRY PAVEMENT AT LOW SPEED (UNDER 10 MPH) BRAKING IS COMPROMISED BY ABS SYSTEM ENGAGEMENT ISSUE. BELOW 10 MPH, THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES CAUSING DRY PAVEMENT BRAKING TO BE DOUBLE OR TRIPLE THE NORMAL DISTANCE TO STOP PRIOR TO THE ABS ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE ABS SYSTEM PULSING OF THE BRAKES AT SLOW SPEEDS ON DRY PAVEMENT IS UNEXPECTED. AT A STOP SIGN/CROSSWALK, THIS HAS CAUSED A VERY CLOSE ENCOUNTER. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 80000 MILES AND HAS BEEN SERVICED ROUTINELY BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC. REPLACEMENT/SERVICE OF ABS SPEED SENSORS AND RUST ISSUE DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NEVER BEEN CONTACTED REGARDING THE RECALL THAT EXISTS FOR THIS ISSUE. REQUIRE ASSISTANCE TO DETERMINE WHY A VEHICLE WITH THIS MILEAGE HAS THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND GM HAS PROVIDED NO RELIEF.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH IN TOWN, THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME SIGNALED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. I BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE AND THEN I LOST ALL BRAKE PRESSURE. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT DUE TO COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE! THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS LIGHTS OR WARNING SIGNALS NOTIFYING OF A BRAKE PROBLEM PRIOR TO THIS. THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS FULL. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, IT APPEARS THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED CAUSING THE BRAKE FAILURE.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH IN A PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO AVOID ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT ABRUPTLY PULLED IN FRONT OF HIS VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT SPOKE TO A TECHNICIAN WHO STATED THAT HE COULD REPAIR THE FAILURE BY CUTTING OUT THE ROTTED SECTION OF THE BRAKE LINE AND REPLACING IT WITH A NEW SECTION. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,600. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING UP TO AN INTERSECTION I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL DROPPED TO THE FLOOR, NO BRAKES. THE CROSS TRAFFIC WAS APPROACHING AT 50 MPH, AND MY ROAD STOPPED SO I HAD TO MAKE A LEFT OR RIGHT. LUCKILY, BY SOME MIRACLE THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC JUST MISSED SLAMMING INTO ME. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM GM ASKING FOR ME TO HAVE THE BRAKE LINES CHECKED, EVEN THOUGH I SEE ONLINE THAT I AM FAR FROM ALONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2003 SIERRA PICKUP 4X4, 64,000 MILES. IT HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD. 4 WHEEL DRIVE HAS ONLY BEEN ENGAGED LESS THAN A DOZEN TIMES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. MILEAGE HAS BEEN APPROX 50/50 BETWEEN HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING. ON A RECENT TRIP FROM PRESCOTT AZ TO PHOENIX AZ, THE PASSENGER SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY FAILED ON 2003 GMC SIERRA PICKUP; 2500HD WITH DURAMAX DIESEL ENGINE. ONCE HUB ASSEMBLY FAILED, THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE BROKE AND BASICALLY ALLOWED FOR THE WHEEL TO BECOME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE HUB ASSEMBLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND HAD IT FAILED APPROX 10-15 MILES EARLIER IT WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAINS BETWEEN PRESCOTT AZ AND PHEONIX AZ. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM; PEORIA PONTIAC GMC, PEORIA, AZ. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIAGNOSED THE HUB ASSEMBLY FAILURE AND AXLE BREAKAGE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE DRIVER'S SIDE HUB ASSEMBLY; IT WAS ALSO BAD. I ASKED THE SERVICE PERSON IF THERE WAS SOME ADDITIONAL MAINTENANCE THAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM. THE RESPONSE WAS A DISCONCERTING NO; THIS JUST SEEMS TO HAPPEN ON SOME OF THE PICKUPS. I HAVE PAID TO HAVE BOTH FRONT HUB ASSEMBLIES REPLACED AND THE PASSENGER AXLE; APPROX $2500. MY BIGGER CONCERN IS FIRST THAT 65000 CITY & HIGHWAY MILES SEEMS PRETTY LOW FOR A FAILURE POINT OF SOMETHING SO CRITICAL AS THE STEERING AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. SECONDLY THAT THERE IS APPARENTLY NO FIX OR ADDITIONAL EXPLANATION OF HOW TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE. MY IMMEDIATE SUSPICION IS THAT GM INADEQUATE HUB ASSEMBLIES ON THEIR DIESEL PICKUPS AND ARE NOT ABLE TO HANDLE THE ADDITIONAL STRESSES OF THE HEAVY WEIGHTS AND TORQUES, ETC. I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY ELDERLY PARENTS AND WE WERE LITERALLY LUCKY THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A FLAT OPEN AREA OF ROAD AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP. *JB

I PURCHASED A 2003 DODGE RAM QUAD CAB TRUCK FROM PARSONS FORD IN MARTINSBURG WV. IT WAS SOLD TO ME IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION. THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS ARE SHOT. THE TIRES ARE CUPPED. THE VEHICLE BOUNCES WHEN EXCEEDING 45 MPH. THE INSPECTION STICKER HAD BEEN REMOVED AND REPLACED WHICH INVALIDATES IT THEREFORE IT WAS SOLD TO ME WITHOUT A VALID INSPECTION. I HAVE TRIED TO RETURN THE VEHICLE ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN DAYS OF PURCHASING IT. PARSONS FORD REFUSES TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK STATING THEY DID NOTHING WRONG. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN,THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. DEAR NHTSA, I WAS INVOLVED IN A THREE CAR MVA ON 2 FEB ON I-95 SOUTHBOUND NEAR MILE MARKER 131.2. I WAS TRAVELING IN THE SLOW LANE DURING THE EVENING TRAFFIC COMMUTE WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND FROM AN INFINITY SUV WHICH COLLIDED AND IMPACTED WITH THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE AND PUSHED MY VEHICLE GMC 2003 SIERRA EXT CAB INTO A LATE MODEL FORD FUSION. THE IMPACT AND FORCE FROM THE SUV BEHIND ME CAUSED REAR AND FRONTAL DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND IS EST TO COST OVER $8900.00 FOR REPAIRS. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND AFTER SEEING THE PHOTOS OF MY FULL SIZE PICK-UP TRUCK IT SEEMS THAT THEIR MUST HAVE BEEN SOME SORT OF MALFUNCTION THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT. MY WHOLE FRONT BUMPER IS COMPLETELY DAMAGED AND THE FRAME HOLDING THE BUMPER IN PLACE APPEARS TO BE BENT. THE REAR BUMPER TO IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND PRESSED UNDER THE BED OF THE TRUCK AND THEIR IS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE BED ITSELF HAVING BEEN BENT UPWARD AS IF IT LOOKS LIKE AN UPSIDE DOWN LETTER "V" AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BED ALSO IS FLARED OUTWARD WHERE IT ABSORBED THE IMPACT. THE BED OF THE TRUCK ALSO IMPACTED INTO THE RIGHTSIDE OF MY CAB AND ALSO LEFT SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AND I SMELLED A WEIRD SMELL. I THOUGHT MY AIR CONDITIONING MAY BE MESSING UP SO I TURNED OFF MY AIR AND OPENED MY WINDOW. THE PASSENGER SIDE CLIMATE CONTROL WOULD RECEIVE AN IMPROPER VOLTAGE READING. THE SYSTEM WOULD TURN TO ITS PRESET DEFAULT SETTINGS. (ON FULL HEAT) IT WAS THEN NECESSARY TO STOP THE VEHICLE, TURN OFF THE IGNITION SYSTEM. THIS WILL ALLOW THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM TO RESET ITS SELF. THIS HAPPENED ONLY ONE TIME PER DAY. (NOT ALWAYS AT THE START OF THE DAY.) TROUBLESHOOTING THIS SYSTEM WAS A TIME CONSUMING PROCESS. (5 TRIPS TO THE SHOP JUST FOR THIS) TO FIX THIS THE PASSENGER SIDE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM WAS REPLACED. MY 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 PRESENTLY HAS 67,631 MILES ON IT. WITH ABOUT 46,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK AT THE END OF 2011, I NOTICED LOW COOLANT, BUT COULD NOT FIND A NOTICEABLE LEAK. I CONTINUED TO ADD COOLANT, BUT COULD NEVER FIND THE LEAK. WHILE HAVING MY OIL CHANGED IN JUNE 2016, THE DEALER (WHERE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PURCHASED AND SERVICED) SAID COOLANT HAD LEAKED INTO THE OIL DUE TO A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD, AND ESTIMATED APPROX $3500 TO FIX IT. IN DEC 2016, THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ENGINE AT $6600. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND GM SERVICE BULLETIN #06-06-01-019B, 12 JUNE 2007, SUBJECT INFORMATION ON GRADUAL COOLANT LOSS OVER TIME WITH NO EVIDENCE OF LEAK FOUND. IT DISCUSSES A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH CASTECH HEADS USED IN THE 5.3L VORTEC ENGINE AS I HAVE IN MY TRUCK. SUBSEQUENT ONLINE SEARCHES INDICATED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG SUCH GM ENGINES. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER WITH THE SERVICE BULLETIN AND ASKED WHAT GM WOULD DO TO ASSIST IN THE REPAIR OF THIS KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THE DEALER SAID THE VEHICLE WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY SO THEY WOULDN'T DO HELP. I REQUESTED ASSISTANCE THROUGH THE GM REGIONAL REP, AND WAS ALSO TOLD THEY WOULD DO NOTHING. IN MARCH 2017, I WROTE A LETTER TO GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER REQUESTING ASSISTANCE. GM RESPONDED WITH A LETTER TWO WEEKS LATER STATING THAT FOR SERVICE REQUEST NUMBER 8-2815264552, THEY "CANNOT PROVIDE ANY COST ASSISTANCE ON THE ENGINE ISSUE ON THE VEHICLE." FURTHER THEY STATED THERE IS NO RECALL OR SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR THE ISSUE. I'M CONCERNED THERE THE REST OF THE INJECTORS WILL FAIL, AS HAS BEEN FREQUENTLY REPORTED BY OWNERS SHARING CONCERNS ON VARIOUS ONLINE FORUMS. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON I-75 AND STARTED DETECTING A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE. I PULLED OVER AND INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. I FOUND THAT THE FUEL LINE HAD RUSTED AND WAS SPRAYING GAS EVERYWHERE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, I FOUND THAT ALL THE LINES FOR THE FUEL AND BRAKE SYSTEM WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED TO AVOID CATASTROPHIC FAILURE THAT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURIES TO MYSELF AND OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FILED, BUT NO ACTION TAKEN. I WROTE GM ON OCTOBER 26, 2013 ABOUT MY 2003 GMC SIERRA DURAMAX DIESEL 6.6L 6L THAT JUST RECENTLY STARTED BILLOWING BLUISH BLACK SMOKE CONSTANTLY FROM THE EXHAUST AND COSTING AN EXORBITANT AMOUNT OF MONEY IN GAS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (QUALITY BY DILORENZO IN ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO) AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A BULLETIN ISSUED IN OCTOBER 2006 FOR LEAKING FUEL INJECTORS. THEY DIAGNOSED MY TRUCK WITH THE EXACT FUEL INJECTOR PROBLEM. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 83,502 MILES ON IT AND I'VE BEEN INFORMED THAT THE NEXT TIME I TAKE IT FOR AN EMISSIONS TEST (A REQUIREMENT IN NEW MEXICO) IT WILL FAIL. I OWN A 2003 GMC SIERRA CREW CAB TRUCK. THE REAR SEATBELTS LOCK UP AND RESTRAIN MY ADULT PASSENGERS TO THE POINT OF DISCOMFORT. WHEN THE PASSENGERS TRY TO PULL OUT AND RELEASE THE LOCKING MECHANISM, THE SEATBELT RATCHETS EVEN TIGHTER ALLOWING NO MOVEMENT WHATSOEVER. THE SEATBELTS LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN AND MORE SO ON THE HIGHWAY DURING ROADTRIPS. THE RESULT IS THAT MY ADULT PASSENGERS REFUSE TO WEAR THESE BELTS. I HAVE HAD THESE BELTS REPLACED ONCE ALREADY. I TOOK THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS, AND INQUIRED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER ACTIVATES AUTOMATICALLY AND DOES NOT SHUT OFF AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. SHE MUST OPEN THE HOOD AND REMOVE THE FUSE FROM THE FUSE BOX TO TURN OFF THE HEAT. BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED, SHE MUST REINSTALL THE FUSE IN THE FUSE BOX ONCE AGAIN. I HAVE A 2003 GMC SIERRA AND THE SPEEDOMETER IS STUCK AT 45-60 MPH, AND GOES UP PAST THE 120 MPH MARK WHEN IN MOTION. FIRST INCIDENT WAS A BRAKE LINE BURSTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I HAD IT REPAIRED AT MY LOCAL GARAGE. AT THAT TIME HE TOLD ME THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE IN BAD SHAPE. SECOND INCIDENT, WHILE I WAS DRIVING UP THE ROAD AT APPROX 55 MPH WITH MY 19' BOAT IN TOW I REALIZED I HAD NO STEERING OR BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP AND PULL THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD TO A SAFE LOCATION. THE FAILURE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO A ROTTED LINE TO THE POWER STEERING COOLER. I RECENTLY HAD A BRAKE FAILURE ON MY 2003 GMC SIERRA 3500 SERIES TRUCK. I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY BRAKES GAVE OUT. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO STOP BEFORE STRIKING A PARKED CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY BRAKE LINES AND CALIPERS ARE CORRODED AND IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT FOR A $4200. I HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED LAST FEBRUARY AND PUT LESS THAN 1000 MILES BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. THE REAR BRAKE PADS WHICH WERE REPLACED THEN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF CORROSION ISSUES. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES ON THIS TRUCK 4 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED IT EACH TIME BECAUSE OF CORROSION ISSUES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY GM THAT I DO NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK ENOUGH. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT FOR TWO REASONS 1. IT MIGHT NOT STOP WHEN I NEED IT TO AND 2. EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT ENDS UP COSTING ME MORE MONEY. THE TRANSMISSION LINES WERE REPLACED LAST SUMMER FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS TRUCK HAS COST ME OVER $20,000 IN REPAIRS SINCE 2005 NOT INCLUDING MAINTENANCE ISSUES. A BRAKE LINE BURST UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES WITH SUBSTANTIAL PRESSURE (NOT ENOUGH TO ENGAGE ABS ON THE DRY PAVEMENT). WAS ABLE TO SWERVE TO AVOID VEHICLE THAT CUT US OFF AND USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO SLOW/STOP VEHICLE IN A SAFE PLACE. ALL BRAKE LINES WERE SEVERELY RUSTED/CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500 PU TRUCK - CORRODED AND FAILING HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINES. THIS TRUCK WAS PURCHASED NEW BY ME IN OCTOBER 2003, AND NOW HAS ONLY 23,700 MILES ON IT. A LINE NEAR THE FUEL TANK, WHICH FEEDS THE REAR WHEEL CALIPERS, RUSTED THROUGH IN JANUARY 2009. OTHER LINES IN NUMEROUS LOCATIONS ALSO SHOW SIGNS OF CORROSION WHICH WILL LEAD TO FUTURE FAILURES. MECHANICS IN THIS AREA TELL ME THIS IS VERY COMMON, EVEN ON SOME NEWER GMC (AND SIMILAR CHEVROLET) VEHICLES. SOME OF THESE MECHANICS REPLACE THE FAULTY LINES WITH TUBING WHICH IS MORE CORROSION-RESISTANT THAN PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, ONE OF THE REAR, REAR WHEEL EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLES ON THIS VEHICLE ALSO FAILED DUE TO CORROSION, AND THE OTHER ONE SHOWED SIGNS OF THE SAME FAILURE IMPENDING. BOTH WERE REPLACED. A SERIOUS, FUNDAMENTAL AND COMPOUND HAZARD EXISTS UNDER THIS SCENARIO. THE CONTACT'S HEAD WAS LYING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE ON THE ASPHALT. AFTER THE INITIAL IMPACT, THE CONTACT RELEASED THE SEAT BELT AND CLIMBED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND NECK WERE SUSTAINED. THE POLICE FILED A REPORT AT THE SCENE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID AN ASSESSMENT OF THE VEHICLE AND DEEMED IT TOTALED. UPDATED 03/03/06.

An accident has not occurred yet, but it something I'm concerned deeply about. Awhile back there was a recall on the instrument cluster of the gmc Sierra 1500 (possibly othets on the list, im sure). I did wind up having the cluster replaced, there didn't seem to be any issues at the time. Now...the replacement cluster has gone haywire. I notice no issues with operations at this time. But the cluster doesn't register certain things or it fluctuates on and off, or doesn't read correctly at all. Is it possible that the replacement could have been bad as well?

HAD INJECTORS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 50000 MILES AFTER NOTICING EXCESS EXHAUST SMOKE ON STARTUP AND ALSO POWER STEERING HOSES WERE LEAKING, AGAIN AT 105000 MILES THEY TOTALLY FAILED AS I WAS BRINGING MY WIFE HOME FROM HOSPITAL ON I-15 IN CA. UP CAJON PASS AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER, BUT GM DEALER WOULD NOT COVER INJECTORS UNDER WARRANTY AS TRUCK WAS11 YEARS OLD AND THEIR COVERAGE WAS FOR 7 YEARS ONLY, NOW AGAIN HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AT 147000 MILES BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE SMOKE ON STARTUP. THIS TIME I WENT TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP AS THEY WERE $1000 CHEAPER AND STATED THESE UPGRADED INJECTORS SHOULD LAST 150000 MILES NOT 50000. HAD TO HAVE POWER STEERING HOSES REPLACED AGAIN ALSO ALONG WITH POWER BRAKE SERVO BECAUSE THEY WERE LEAKING AGAIN AT 157000 MILES. I HAVE ALL OF THIS DOCUMENTED IN WRITING BY SERVICE DEPTS.

FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC ATTEMPTS HAVE LED ME TO BELIEVE THAT IT IS DUE TO A FAULTY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (PART OF THE THROTTLE BODY), TAC MODULE, OR APP ASSEMBLY (ACCELERATOR PEDAL). MOST LIKELY CAUSE MAY BE DUE TO THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, AS THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ON "CRUISE CONTROL". I WAS TOWING A VEHICLE ON IN THE RIGHT SLOW LANE, AND "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT CAME ON. ENGINE VIBRATED AND RUNS ON 1/2 CYLINDERS. CANNOT BRAKE OR STEER, TOTAL LACK OF POWER. I WAS PARKED ON A SLOPED DRIVEWAY (ABOUT 10 - 15 DEGREES). I STARTED THE ENGINE, STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND TOOK THE CAR OUT OF PARK INTO DRIVE. BRAKE PEDAL WAS NORMAL. HAD DEALERSHIP REPLACE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED. AFTER THE BRAKES WERE SERVICED, I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE BRAKES WERE PULSATING, WHICH WAS FELT IN THE PEDAL, AT LOW SPEEDS. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID DURING THE TEST DRIVE THAT THE ABS SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATING UNNECESSARILY. THEY THEN PUT IT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE FOR SOME REASONS. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE BOTH WHEEL ABS SENSORS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE ABS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. WHEN THE PADS AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED, AGAIN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT ON THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE, BUT DIDN'T PICK UP THAT THE SENSORS WERE FIRING. I'M DOUBTING IT IS COINCIDENCE THAT THESE THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT RANDOM. THERE HAS TO BE SOME KIND OF CORRELATION BETWEEN THE WHEEL BEARING BEING REPLACED, THE PADS AND ROTORS BEING REPLACED, AND NOW THE SENSORS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. STARTING AT <5K MILES THE VEHICLE POWER TRAIN CLUNKED WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. NOW AT 70K MILES IT CLUNKS WHEN SHIFTING BETWEEN ALL GEARS EXCEPT FINAL DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE OUTPUT SHAFT ON THE TRANNY, THEN THE U-JOINTS, AND MODIFIED THE ELECTRICAL SHIFT PATERN. IT STILL CLUNKS. POWER STEERING INTERMITTENTLY LOCKS UP AT SLOW SPEED TURNS, ESPECIALLY WHEN BRAKING. LIGHT BULBS BURN OUT ALMOST EVERY THREE MONTHS. HAD TO PAY ($486.00) FOR REPLACING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET WHEN VEHICLE HAD LITTLE OVER 40K MILES. BRAKES FADE AND THE PEDAL ALMOST GOES TO THE FLOOR, AGAIN INTERMITTENT. I HAVE ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS DUE TO THE STEERING AND BRAKE ISSUES. GMC ISSUED A LETTER STATING "THIS IS A NORMAL OCCURANCE AND WILL NOT CAUSE DAMAGE." TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MPH IN A BUSY PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BEFORE COMPLETING A LEFT TURN AND FELT THE BRAKES SHAKING. THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR. HE WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY AND CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKES. HE ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO COAST UNTIL IT CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. DT: THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT MANY DEFECTS WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE SPEEDOMETER CONTINUALLY HAD AN INACCURATE READ OUT WHILE DRIVING. 2003 GMC SIERRA 2500HD WITH DURAMAX DIESEL STARTED RUNNING ROUGH BECAUSE OF LOW FUEL. LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. PUT 4 GALLONS OF FUEL IN VEHICLE AND SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR 08/02/05 WITH GUNN CHEVROLET SERVICE, SAN ANTONIO TEXAS. MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANY TROUBLE CODE. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISER BRIAN LECOURSE THAT THERE IS NO CALIBRATION OR STANDARD FOR LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT TO COME ON AND IT MAY COME ON WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING OUT OF FUEL. I FILLED UP THE VEHICLE WITH 25.2 GALLONS OF FUEL FOR A 26 GALLON TANK. THE LOW FUEL WARNING LIGHT STILL WAS NOT ON AND THE DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEM SHOWED 36 MILES LEFT TO TRAVEL. I WENT BACK TO GUNN CHEVROLET AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE FIXED. GENERAL MANAGER CHARLEY O'DANIEL SAID THAT THE PEOPLE THAT DESIGN THE VEHICLES ARE SMARTER THAN THE PEOPLE THAT FIX THEM AND THAT TECH LINE STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2003 GMC SIERRA 1500. AT 1300 MILES, I LOST A FITTING THAT CONNECTS THE TRANSMISSION LINE TO THE RADIATOR FOR THE TRANNY COOLER AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS DESTROYED. A REBUILT TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN MY PICKUP. I NOW HAVE 32000 MILES ON IT AND THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO "DOUBLE" SHIFT BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. I'VE HAD MY TRUCK IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES TO DIAGNOSE THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT REPRODUCE/FIND THE ISSUE. THE PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID WAS REPLACED ABOUT 4 DAYS AGO. ON FEBRUARY 18, 2003 I PURCHASED A NEW 2003 TRUCK THE TRUCK CAME WITH THE SERVICE LIGHT ON. WHEN DRIVING THE 4X4 WHEEL LIGHT WOULD COME ON AS IF THE TRUCK WAS IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. THE LIGHT WOULD GO OFF AFTER STOPPING AND SHUTING THE TRUCK OFF FOR AT LEAST 15 MINUTES. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I WAS WORRIED ABOUT THE 4X4 ENGAGING ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING THE ONLY THING THEY COULD DO WAS TO DISENGAGE THE 4X4 WHEEL DRIVE AT THIS TIME.I NEED TO HAVE THE USE OF THE 4X4 WHEEL DRIVE AS I OWN A LARGE CONCRETE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY AND USE MY TRUCK ALL DAY LONG ON JOBSITES. I LEFT THE DEALER NOT KNOWING WHAT TO DO. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT DAMAGING THE 4X4 UNIT EVEN MORE ON MY NEW TRUCK. ON MAY 31ST, THE REAR END DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY EXPLODED SENDING THE PINON THRU THE HOUSING AND THE REAR AXLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP (PERRY CHEVEROLET, INC., COLUMBIA, MO)UNTIL 6-9-03. WHEN I ARRIVED IN BOZEMAN, MT ON 7-2-03 I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE WIRING. THERE WAS A FIRE WHEN I PLUGGED THE RV ELECTRICAL PLUG INTO THE TRUCK'S TRAILER PLUG. THERE WAS ALSO A BLOWN REAR TAIL LIGHT BULB. IN BOZMAN, THEY REPLACED THE COMPLETE WIRING HARNESS, THE TOW RECEPTACLE AND 2 FUSE KITS. IT WAS THE OPINION OF THE SHOP IN BOZEMAN (J.C.BILLION, GMC) THAT THE WIRING DAMAGE WAS PART OF THE ORIGINAL FIRE AND DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY DAMAGE. ALTHOUGH GMC PAID FOR MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES AND FOR THE WARANTY WORK, I AM LEFT TO WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT AND JUST HOW SAFE AM I GOING TO BE IN THIS TRUCK?
