THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

MY TRUCK IS MY BACK-UP VEHICLE THAT SITS IN THE SIDE DRIVEWAY MOST OF THE TIME BUT I DRIVE WHEN I'M TRANSPORTING LARGE ITEMS OR MOVING TO A NEW HOME. I RECENTLY DROVE IT AND NOTICED THE SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING AND WENT SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION ABOUT RELATED ISSUES ON THE INTERNET WHEN I FOUND A RECALL NOTICE POSTED ON GMC'S WEBSITE BUT THEY ARE SAYING IT'S PAST THE "TIME" ALLOWED TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM OR A TIME FRAME TO GET THIS DONE BECAUSE I DON'T DRIVE THIS TRUCK MUCH. NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DEALERSHIP'S INSPECTION OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ONLY TO HAVE THEM TELL ME THAT IT'S INDEED BROKE AND THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO REPAIR IT UNDER THE RECALL. I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO BUT I'M HOPPING MAD BECAUSE THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT OTHER GMC OWNERS PROBABLY HAD REPAIRED BUT BECAUSE THIS WAS MY BACK-UP VEHICLE, I'M PENALIZED FOR NOT HAVING THE PROBLEM SURFACE EARLIER BEFORE THE "TIME" FRAME EXPIRED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER GAUGES DON'T ALWAYS WORK. WE WERE ON FREEWAY WHEN WE NOTICED SPEEDOMETER HAD FAILED AS WELL AS FUEL GAUGE , TEMP GAUGE ALL GAUGES INOPERATIVE. THIS IS THIRD TIME CLUSTER PANEL IS BEING REPLACED; FIRST TWO UNDER WARRANTY THIRD TIME WE HAD TO PAY $204.

I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON I-75 HIGHWAY ABOUT 70 MPH, IN MOTION, IN NORTHERN MICHIGAN AND HAD TO STOP FAST WHEN AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN FRONT OF ME. I SLAMMED/MASHED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ONLY TO FEEL IT FALL TO THE FLOOR, THE METAL HYDRAULIC LINE FAILED AND I NOW HAVE NO BRAKES AT ALL!! I BEGAN TO PRESS ON THE PARKING BRAKE AND DOWN SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION TO ASSIST IN THE SLOWING OF THE VEHICLE. I ALSO STEERED AROUND THE STOPPED CARS INTO THE SIDE AND DITCH OF THE ROAD. I LUCKILY HAD THE RIGHT REACTIONS BUT NOT ALL PEOPLE DO OR CANNOT ACT AS FAST. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE WITH THIS GMC SIERRA 2004. PLEASE HAVE IT RECALLED. I HAD TO HAVE THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACE ALL THE METAL BRAKE LINES AS THEY WERE CORRODED. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE FAIL ITS BRAKE LINES LIKE THIS. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 48,000 MILES ON IT AND IS GARAGE KEPT SUPER CLEAN.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2004 AND HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE AND ALMOST 100,00 MILES IN ALMOST 14 YEARS HOWEVER I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND ALL THE BRAK FLUID CAME OUT I HAD TO DRIVE OVER A PERSON LAWN TO AVOID HITTING A PERSON AND A MOVING VEHICLE ON 7/1/2017 DUE TO RUSTY BRAKE LINE AND CHECKING ALL LINES WERE RUSTED . I AM ALMOST 75 YEARS OLD AND VERY CONCERNED I WAS AWARE THE LINES WERE ALL RUSTED DUE TO IMPORTED BRAKE LINES WITH INFERIOR METALS, NEVER HEARD ABOUT AND NOTICE OR RECALL.I ALMOST INJURED A PERSON AND HIT A CAR IF I DID NOT DRIVE ON SOMEONES LAWN THE VEHIVLE WAS MOVING ABOUT 35 MPH .

THE MANUAL SHIFT ON THE FLY SYSTEM (MSOF) WITH NEW VENTURE GEARS AUTOMATIC TRANSFER CASE IS DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED. A METAL ANTI-RATTLE CLIP WORKS IT WAY THROUGH THE CASE HOUSING, CAUSING ALL FLUID TO LEAK OUT OF THE TRANSFER CASE. THE CLUTCHES THEN BURN OUT RENDERING THE TRANSFER CASE USELESS. THE RESULT IS NO 4 WHEEL DRIVE (NO POWER TO FRONT WHEELS) WHEN SHIFT ON THE FLY IS PRESSED, LEAVING DRIVER SLIDING ON SNOW OR ICE--WHICH HAPPENED TO ME IN A NEAR WRECK. I RECOVERED FROM THE SLIDE AND GOT THE VEHICLE HOME AND THEN TO A REPAIR SHOP (ONCE THE SNOW MELTED) FOR A NEW TRANSFER CASE (REPAIR ONGOING). DRIVERS MAY RELY ON THE 4WD IN INCLEMENT WEATHER TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS AND BE INJURED WHEN THE 4WD DOES NOT ENGAGE DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE TRANSFER CASE. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY, AFTER DOING A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY CHEVEROLET FULL SIZE VEHICLES. OVER THE PAST WEEK, I NOTICED THAT MY GMC DENALI TRUCK WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT SO I HAD TO OVERSTEER TO THE RIGHT. EACH DAY, THE EFFECT BECAME MORE PRONOUNCED SO I HAD THE LOCAL GMC DEALER CHECK OUT THE TRUCK. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE CORDS IN THE FRONT GOODYEAR WRANGLER HP TIRE HAD SEPARATED--IT WAS A BLOWOUT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING WITH MY TRUCK TO HAVE CAUSED THE SEPARATION, THE TREAD WEAR WAS EVEN ON ALL TIRES, THEY WERE REGULARLY CHECKED FOR INFLATION, AND MOST OF THE TREAD WAS LEFT SINCE I HAVE PUT LOW MILEAGE ON THIS TIRES. I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE STARTING MY 2004 GMC, SOMETIME WHEN I TURNED THE KEY IT WOULD DO NOTHING, I HAD IT TOWED IN AND SPENT OVER $500 TO REPAIR IT, ALTERNATOR, BATTERY ETC, AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN I GOT IT BACK, AND IT DID IT AGAIN, I FOUND THAT IF I MOVED THE STEERING WHEEL UP AND DOWN WITH THE LEVER, IT WOULD THEN START. YESTERDAY I WENT OUT TO START MY TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY, AND THE KEY WILL NOT TURN IN THE IGNITION. IT FEELS LIKE THE IGNITION CAME APART OR SOMETHING INSIDE. THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT LOCKED. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE TOWED IN AGAIN AND PAY TO REPAIR THE IGNITION, WHEN GM HAS BEEN HAVING HUGE PROBLEMS WITH IGNITIONS! I HAVE HAD OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE TO INCLUDE A FIRE UNDER THE DASH. AROUND EVERY 20K TO 25K MILES, I HAVE TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND HAVE A NEW STEERING COLUMN GREASE PACKING KIT INSTALLED BECAUSE THE STEERING COLUMN STARTS KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO INSTALL A RELAY SWITCH BECAUSE OF A WIRING CHANGE FROM THE 2000 MODELS. THE LOW AND HIGH BEAM CAME ON SEPARATELY. WHEN IT SNOWED AND THE HIGH BEAM WAS ON, SNOW BUILD UP ON THE LOW BEAM. IN THE PAST THREE MONTHS THE FUEL LINES NEEDED REPLACEMENT AS THEY HAD RUSTED SO BADLY THAT A LEAK FORMED. YESTERDAY WHILE PULLING MY 10,000 POUND BOAT, MY BRAKES SUDDENLY FAILED BECAUSE OF A LEAK IN THE LINE BETWEEN THE ABS BOX AND THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL. THIS VEHICLE WAS JUST INSPECTED AND WAS WONDERING IF THE SPARE TIRE IS INCLUDED IN THE INSPECTION PROCESS. DUE TO RUSTY TIRE CONDITION THE LUGS LOOSENED AND TIRE FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY AFTER I CHANGED IT. I WAS TOLD BYE THE MECHANICS THAT THE LUGS LOOSENED DUE TO A RUSTY FAULTY SPARE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN ROUTE 24 IN LEWES, DELAWARE APPROACHING A YELLOW LIGHT WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY COMPLETELY FAILED DESPITE PUTTING THE PEDDLE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I WAS FORCED TO VEER ONTO THE SHOULDER THEN INTO A FARMERS FIELD IN ORDER TO SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN ENOUGH TO FORCE IT INTO PARK. APPARENTLY THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINES ON THESE TRUCKS ARE COMPLETELY EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS AND HAVE A HISTORY OF FAILING. ONCE THAT HAPPENS, THE REAR CALIPERS LOCK UP AND THERE ARE NO BRAKES AT ALL SWITCH CAN CAUSE A CRASH. THERE IS NO WARNING GIVEN UNTIL THE HYDRAULIC LINE SNAPS AND THE FLUID IS RELEASED. GMC CLAIMS ON FEB 26TH TOLD ME MY CAR SEAT TEMPS (RAYTECH 120.1 F WITH LEATHER ON; 170 F WITH LEATHER OFF) ARE WITHIN NORMAL RANGE AND THIS CLAIM DOES NOT ACTUALLY EVEN NEED TO BE SETTLED BY GMC. THESE TEMPERATURES WERE TAKEN BY GMC'S INVESTIGATION SPECIALIST. I WITNESSED THE INVESTIGATION. I SPOKE TO A FORENSIC ENGINEER ON MARCH 5, 2010, WHO STATED THE TEMPERATURES READ FROM THE RAYTEC ARE INACCURATE AS THEY WERE NOT DONE DURING COMPRESSION OF THE CAR SEAT TO SIMULATE SITTING IN THE SEAT. THIS FORENSIC ENGINEER INFORMED ME THAT THE ACCURATE TEMPERATURES WOULD HAVE BEEN HIGHER . I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION IN MY 2004 GMC SIERRA 4X4 2500HD PICKUP TRUCK WITH A 2800 POUND TRAILER WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKES TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. THE TRAILER BRAKES WERE NOT ENOUGH TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND I CONTINUED INTO THE INTERSECTION AND WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY TWO OTHER VEHICLES. THEY JUST MISSED HITTING MY VEHICLE AND CAUSING SERIOUS INJURIES TO MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER, AS WELL AS THEMSELVES. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST GMC DEALER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT A BRAKE LINE HAD BURST AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE ALSO STATED THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT $750.00 PER SIDE. HE TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLES AND THAT THESE LINES ONLY LAST 4-7 YEARS ON AVERAGE. THERE IS ALSO SIGNIFICANT CORROSION ON THE FRAME. MY VEHICLE IS ALWAYS GARAGED AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE IS DONE. THE DEALER THEN TOLD ME THAT SINCE WE LIVE IN A SNOW BELT STATE THAT I SHOULD EXPECT THIS AND THAT GMC WILL NOT HELP WITH THE REPAIR. I TOLD HIM THAT I AM VERY UPSET AND THAT I HAVE BEEN A FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC FOR OVER 25 YEARS, AND IF WHAT HE JUST SAID WAS TRUE, THEN I WOULD HAVE HAD TO RESCUE AN AWFUL LOT OF PEOPLE FROM THEIR CRASHED VEHICLES IF ON AVERAGE BRAKE LINES ONLY LASTED 4-7 YEARS. I OWN A 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500 Z71 WITH 32,000 ON THE ODOMETER. ON THE MORNING OF 27AUG2008 THE ABS MOTOR LOCATED ON THE FRAMERAIL UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT TURNED ON IMMEDIATELY UPON TURNING THE IGNITION TO ON. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. I HAD TO CONTINUE AND DRIVE TO WORK. THE LIGHT STAYED ON THE WHOLE TIME. ONCE I ARRIVED AT WORK I REMOVED THE FUSE FOR THE MOTOR. NOW I HAVE NO ABS AND THE LIGHTS ARE ON ALL THE TIME. DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE FRONT BRAKE LINES WERE RUBBING AGAINST THE CALIPER, CAUSING A HOLE/LOSS OF FLUID, AND FAILURE IN THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE LINE, AND PLACED A RUBBER BOOT WHERE THE WEARING OCCURRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN AT 15 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING SHAFT. THE DEALER LUBRICATED THE STEERING SHAFT AND THE NOISE CEASED. HOWEVER, THE NOISE HAS CURRENTLY RETURNED. REFERENCE A GMC 2004 SIERRA 3500 4 WHEEL DRIVE PICK UP TRUCK, 6.6L DIESEL ENGINE WITH 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE MOLDED RUBBER AROUND THE DRIVELINE CENTER SUPPORT CARRIER BEARING (PART # 12472424) DRY ROTTED CAUSING DRIVELINE VIBRATION THAT, IN TURN CAUSED THE TRANSFER CASE TO FAIL. THE VIBRATION WAS SLIGHT AND NOT CONSTANT, NOT INDICATING A MAJOR PROBLEM. THE PART IN QUESTION IS A NON-SERVICEABLE PART, PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE DID NOT AND WOULD NOT PREVENT THIS FAILURE. THE TRANSFER CASE WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED AND WAS ON THE VERGE OF TOTAL LOCK UP WHICH WOULD HAVE CAUSED THE REAR WHEELS TO LOCK UP UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE COST TO FIX THIS PROBLEM IS OVER $3000 DOLLARS TO HAVE THE DEALER DO THE REPAIRS. SINCE I AM A COMPETENT MECHANIC, I INSPECTED AND FOUND THIS PROBLEM WHEN I FIRST NOTICED A SLIGHT VIBRATION, MOST VEHICLE OWNERS WOULD HAVE DRIVEN THE TRUCK UNTIL THE WHEELS LOCKED UP POSSIBLY CAUSING A LIFE THREATENING CRASH. THE PART IN QUESTION IS WITHOUT A DOUBT A DEFECTIVE PART. IT IS MADE IN CHINA. WHILE MANY PARTS COMING FROM CHINA TODAY ARE OF SUFFICIENT QUALITY, CHINESE RUBBER IS SUBSTANDARD AND DRY ROTS IN ABOUT TWO YEARS UNDER MOST CIRCUMSTANCES. I OWN A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500 CREW CAB PICKUP WITH 59,000 MILES. IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN GIVING INCORRECT READINGS, I.E. 70 MPH WHEN STOPPED, 115 WHEN DOING 40 MPH ETC. ON OCCASION, IT EITHER DOESN'T WORK AT ALL, OR THE NEEDLE IS FULLY PEGGED. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL HOW FAST THIS VEHICLE IS GOING. GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS STATED THAT THEY CAN PROVIDE NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE $320 REPAIR BECAUSE "THEY CANNOT MAKE A BUSINESS CASE FOR IT." NONE OF THE PROBLEMS WERE FIXED #5 I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE TRUCK TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST AFTER PICKING IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR A 3RD OPINION ON 12/20/05 WITH 10,284 MILES. HIS OPINION WAS FLATLY STATED THAT THE TRUCK HAS MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE CLUTCH AND THE TRANSMISSION. HIS EVALUATION WAS THE CLUTCH WAS NOT INSTALLED CORRECTLY FROM THE FACTORY AND DEPRESSION INTO THE FIREWALL WAS NOT CORRECT. THE TRANSMISSION HAS SYNCHRONIZER AND POSSIBLE BUSHINGS AND BEARINGS THAT WERE FAILING. HE STATED THE NOISES ALONE WERE DEFINITE INDICATORS THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS PROBLEMS AND THAT ANYONE WOULD KNOW THAT A CLUTCH IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE DEPRESSED INTO THE FIREWALL FOR PROPER OPERATION WHICH IN TIME WILL LEAD TO PREMATURE CLUTCH FAILURE. THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WERE ADDRESSED 3 TIMES AND ALL THE DEALERS SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SAID THERE IS A DEFECT WITH MY TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE.
