STARTED MY TRUCK AND THE FAILURE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAME ACROSS I PUSHED IN THE BOTTON THAT CHANGES IT AND CAME BACK ON THEN IT SAID TIGHTEN FUEL CAP WASHER FLUID LOW I HIT THE BUTTON AGAIN IT WENT OF BUT BATTERY LIGHT STAYED ON AND GAUGE READ ABOUT 10 VOLTS.MY TRUCK RAN FINE AND STARTED WHEN I GOT TO MY FIRST THEN AT THE SECOND STOP IT SAID THE SAME , I PUT IN REVERSE BACKED OUT PUT IT DRIVE AND THE CLUSTER QUICK WORKING THE AC QUIT YOU COULD ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN NOR DID THE LOCKS WORK AND IT DID NOT ANY POWER WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE GAS PED2 TO COME UP A HILL IT FELT LIKE IT SHIFTED WHEN YOU LET OFF THE PEDAL YOU COULD FEEL JERK, GO HOME TURNED IT AND WOULD NOT START OR MAKE ANY SOUND NOT EVEN THE CLICKING ON THE STARTER, SO I LEFT HOME AND CAME BACK ABOUT 4 HOURS LATER AND IT STARTED BUT THE VOLT READ ABOUT 10 VOLTS. I HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND IT TEST GOOD. THIS WAS ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2020 I HAVE PUT THE BATTERY BACK IN YET.

THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

MY GMC SIERRA I BOUGHT NEW IN 2006 IT HAS 68,800 MILES ON IT WHEN I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL LOST PRESSURE AND WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND BRAKE FLUID WAS POURING OUT WHEN I TAPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. IF I WAS MOVING AT THE TIME THIS HAPPEN SOMETHING REAL BAD COULD HAVE HAPPEN. I OWN A 1948 CHEVROLET PICKUP AND THE BRAKE LINES ARE STILL GOOD ON THAT 70 YEAR OLD TRUCK. GM IS USING POOR QUALITY PARTS FROM LOW BIDDERS ON CONTRACT PUTTING THE PUBLIC AT RISK.

A CAR DROVE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION IN FRONT OF ME AS I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, MARCH 3, 2018. I HIT THE BRAKES AND TURNED AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. MY BRAKES FAILED, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AS I WAS STOPPING. BRAKE LINE NEAR LH FR.T WHEEL BUSTED AND BRAKE FLUID SHOT OUT. LUCKY I TURNED AWAY AS I WAS BRAKING THAT I MISSED THE OTHER VEHICLE. The contact owns a 2005 GMC Sierra 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to come to a stop while the brake pedal was depressed. The contact stated that the brake pedal felt loose. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to bring the vehicle to a complete stop and the contact became aware of a brake fluid leak coming from under the hood, and that both front and rear brake lines were rusted. An appointment with the dealer was scheduled to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

I HAVE A 2005 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING ON DRY ROADS AND BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS THE ABS ABNORMALLY ACTIVATES WITH OUT WARRANT. THIS ONLY HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS AND HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. I CALLED THE GM DEALER TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOT AND I COULD BRING IT IN TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND REPAIRED AT MY EXPENSE. I SEE THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS HERE AT THE NHTSA FOR THE SAME THING. SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FOUND THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT GM HAS DONE A RECALL ON 1999-2002 VEHICLES. AS A RESULT EXHAUST MANIFOLDS ARE NOW WARPING PUTTING UNDUE STRESS ON REMAINING MANIFOLD BOLTS AND CREATING AN EXHAUST LEAK. BOLTS ARE STEEL, MANIFOLDS ARE CAST, AND HEADS ARE ALUMINUM. DISSIMILAR METALS, HEAT, AND MOISTURE HAVE CAUSED THE BOLTS TO PREMATURELY RUST AND FAIL. EMISSIONS DILUTION WILL NOT ALLOW FOR A PASSING SMOG TEST IN 2013. THIS MODEL YEAR HAS AN ENGINE DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE HEAD GASKET IS KNOWN TO BREAK CAUSING THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. IT HAS A NOTICEABLE TICKING AND AFTER CHECKING MY EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS I FOUND THAT FOUR ARE BROKEN AND ALLOWING RAW EXHAUST FUMES INTO THE AIR. WITH THE BOLTS BREAKING THE MANIFOLD IS WARPED AND BROKEN. THIS IS ALL AT 94,000 MILES.

SEVERAL SEALS, CHAIN, TWO GEARS, 3 BOTTLES OF FLUID, "4 STAR BUFFER RING" AND A NEW CASING HALF WAS REQUIRED. $2654.00 TO REPAIR FOR A 12 MONTH WARRANTY. AAMCO POINTED OUT I DID NOTHING WRONG. GM STATES THAT DEXRON-VI IS FULLY BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE WITH ALL DEXRON-III APPLICATIONS. MY VEHICLE IS A 2005 GMC SIERRA K2500HD, WITH AN 8.1L GASOLINE ENGINE AND ALLISON 1000 TRANSMISSION. AFTER PERFORMING A ROUTINE SERVICE ON MY TRANSMISSION (FLUID DRAIN AND REFILL), REPLACING THE DEXRON-III WITH DEXRON-VI, I NOTICED THE SEALS AND GASKETS LEAKING FROM AROUND THE TRANSMISSION. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THE SYNTHETIC DEXRON-VI IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH CERTAIN SEALS INSTALLED IN ALLISON BRAND TRANSMISSIONS. ALLISON TRANSMISSION DOES NOT APPROVE THE USE OF DEXRON-VI IN ITS TRANSMISSIONS DUE TO THE SEAL INCOMPATIBILITY (ALLISON SERVICE TIP #1099P). ANOTHER ALLISON DOCUMENT (SA5429EN) LISTS TWO SERIAL NUMBER CUTOFFS, PRIOR TO WHICH CONTAIN SEALS INCOMPATIBLE WITH DEXRON-VI. THE SITUATION HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED - GM DENIES ANY POSSIBLE INCOMPATIBILITY, AND WILL NOT WARRANT ANY DAMAGES, WHILE ALLISON REPRESENTATIVES HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS A DIRECT RESULT OF DEXRON-VI. TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING THE 2005 GMC SIERRA. THE PASSENGER'S FRONT TIRE WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT 6000 MILES BECAUSE THERE WAS NO TREAD LEFT ON THE TIRE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE HAD WORN UNEVENLY, AND THE PASSENGER'S FRONT TIRE WAS STARTING TO WEAR OUT AS WELL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE IS 9,691. THE DEALER STATED THE REASON FOR THE PREMATURE WEAR WAS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ALIGNED ACCORDING TO GMC SPECS. DEFECT DISCOVERED THIS DATE, BUT KNOWN BY MANUFACTURER. EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BREAKING, LEADING TO EXHAUST GASES LEAKING UNDER HOOD WHICH WILL LEAD TO EMISSION PROBLEMS. LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM 8 CYLINDER TRUCKS MADE FROM 1999 TO 2007, WHICH INVOLVES ABOUT 12 MILLION VEHICLES. THE REPAIR COST IS $800 TO $1000, AND GM HAS NOT RECALLED OR OFFERED TO EXTEND WARRANTY TO COVER THE REPAIR. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.

WHEN BOUGHT NEW, BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH THERE IS A BOUNCING IN THE SUSPENSION. FIX WAS TO PLACE 400 LBS JUST BEHIND THE TAILGATE. I PUT 330 LBS ACROSS THE REAR AXIAL WITH GOOD BALANCED TIRES. BEEN THIS WAY SINCE 2005 AND IT'S A STUPID FIX.

NOTICED VEHICLE VIBRATION FROM THIS FIRST WEEK I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. THE DEALER SAID THEY WILL LOOK AT IT AND FIX ANY PROBLEM..THEY LOOK AT THE TRUCK AND SAID THE VIBRATION WAS NORMAL. I WENT TO THE AUTOMOBILE COMPLAINT CENTER AND HAD A JUDGE LISTEN TO THE "LEMON" ISSUE. THE JUDGE ORDER A DIFFERENT MACHANIC TO EVALUATE THE TRUCK. HE DID AND SAID "YES IT VIBRATES TOO MUCH". THE JUDGE ASKED THE GMC COMPANY REP WHAT COULD BEEN DONE. HE SAID THE SAME THING THAT I HAVE READ BEFORE... THAT IS TO PUT 500 LBS IN THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. THAT DID NOT HELP. AT ABOUT 45 MPH LIKE TIRE OUT OF ROUND. AT 55 MPH AND GREATER, VIBRATION FELT LIKE TIRE OUT OF BALANCE. GM TELLS ME PROBLEM IS NORMAL, WILL NOT CORRECT. GM CALLS THE PROBLEM "BEAMING", AND SUGGESTS PLACING 500 LBS IN BED OF TRUCK. TRIED THIS AND VIBRATION STILL EXISTS. TRUCK SHAKES SO BAD AT 65 MPH THAT MY WIFE WHATED TO GET A HEAVY DUTY BRA. , . . TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT MY RIGHT FRONT HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY. I NOW HAVE 69,587 MILES, AT 32,000 MILES THE SAME PROBLEM AROSE WITH THE LEFT FRONT HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY WHICH WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY UNDER GM'S 36,000 MILE 3 YEARS WARRANTY. THIS DEFECTIVE HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY JUST COST ME $553.81. THIS PART CANNOT BE LUBRICATED OR ADJUSTED. I HAD SOME SWAY WHEN TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER AND THOUGHT IT WAS THE ROADWAY, BUT NOW I KNOW IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PART. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED NEXT? THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY FALLING OFF? OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 45 YEARS AND NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM. TWO FRONT HUBS WEARING OUT IN SUCH A SHORT TIME. THERE IS A PIECE OF PLASTIC UNDER THE CENTER CONSOLE WHICH PROTRUDES ABOVE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. ESPECIALLY WHEN WARM, THE PLASTIC PIECE PROTRUDES FAR ENOUGH TO CATCH MY SHOE AND HOLD IT ON THE ACCELERATOR WHEN I TRY TO BRAKE. I DID HAVE A CRASH WHEN SOMEONE STOPPED QUICKLY IN FRONT OF ME, AND I LATER HAD A NEAR MISS WHEN I WAS TRYING TO BRAKE.

TRUCK HAS BEEN IN DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR SEVERE NOISE OF POWER STEERING PUMP, LOSS OF BRAKE BOOST AND STEERING ASSIST AT LOW SPEEDS. PUMP WAS REPLACED AND NOISED DISAPPEARED FOR JUST OVER 2 WEEKS AND STARTED AGAIN. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT GM IS AWARE OF PROBLEM, BUT IS ONLY TAKING CALLS ABOUT THE PROBLEM FROM ONE AREA CODE WHILE THEY TRY TO ISOLATE. DEALER THEN REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR WITH NO CORRECTION OF PROBLEM. AT A STANDSTILL, TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL ABOUT 3/4 TURN RESULTS IN COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST AND SOMETIMES BRAKE BOOST, PLUS EXCESSIVE PUMP NOISE. DEALER IS NOW TRYING TO TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL. THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM. GM HAS INSTRUCTED DEALERS NOT TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. AS THEY HAVE RECEIVED TOO MANY PUMPS UNDER WARRANTY THAT APPEAR TO HAVE NO PROBLEM. DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 1200 RPM AND STEERING RIGHT OR LEFT WILL GENERATE A GROANING NOISE THAT DROWNS CONVERSATION IN THE CAB AND AT TIMES RESULTS IN REDUCED OR FAILED BRAKE BOOST. THE SAME LOUD GROANING NOISE OCCURS WHEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITHOUT ANY TURNING OF THE STEERING WHEEL, AS THE ENGINE RPM FALLS THROUGH THE 1200 RPM RANGE. SOUNDS LIKE A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WITH AIR IN THE SYSTEM, LOW FLUID OR BEING PUSH TO OVER-CAPACITY. GM IS NOT BEING RESPONSIVE TO THE EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS. I KNOW OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ON SEVERAL YEARS OF 2500HD DURAMAX TRUCKS. IT IS NOT AT ALL DIFFICULT TO FIND OTHERS WITH THIS EXACT SAME COMPLAINT. THE NOISE APPEARS TO BE AN UNDER CAPACITY HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FOR POWER STEERING AND BRAKE BOOST. GM IS EITHER IGNORING THE PROBLEM OR HOPING THE PROBLEM TRUCKS WILL EXPIRE WARRANTY. MORE OWNERS NEED TO COMPLAIN AND FORCE A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS DEFECT IN DESIGN. CONTRARY TO MY DEALER'S ASSERTION, THIS IS NOT NORMAL. CASTECH CYLINDER HEADS ON 2001 THROUGH 2006 5.3L VORTEC ENGINES ARE POROUS AND ALLOW ANTIFREEZE TO SEAP INTO THE OIL. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS IT CAN DESTROY THE ENGINE (OIL DOESN'T LUBRICATE CORRECTLY, SLUDGE BUILDUP) AND LEAVE SOMEONE, AT THE LEAST, STRANDED, AT THE WORST, IT CAN CAUSE A HUGE ENGINE FIRE. GM HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS SINCE 2007. THEY ISSUED A BULLETIN DESCRIBING THE PROBLEM AND WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO FIX, BUT NO RECALL. CONCERNING GM 706 CASTECH CYLINDER HEADS/GM TSB 06-06-01-019B I HAVE A 2005 GMC SIERRA WHICH HAS SLOWLY BEEN LEAKING COOLANT FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. I HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT AND THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT I HAVE A 706 CASTECH CYLINDER HEAD THAT IS NOTORIOUS FOR CRACKING AND LEAKING. THE DEALER TOLD ME THERE WAS COOLANT INSIDE MY OIL AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE ENGINE. AS I HAVE BEGUN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I REALIZE THESE CYLINDER HEADS AFFECT MILLIONS OF GM VEHICLES AND LOYAL CUSTOMERS. EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BREAKING OFF FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAVE FOUR BROKEN ALREADY AND AN EXHAUST LEAK DEVELOPING. THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH TWO OF THE SAME TRUCKS THAT THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS POSTED ON THE WEB. I HAVE HAD MANY VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND WORKED THEM HARD BUT HAVE NEVER SEEN A BROKEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT ON ANY OF THEM. THIS CAN BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION AS HAVING EXHAUST LEAKS UNDER HOOD COULD CAUSE A FIRE. I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO FITZGERALD AUTO MALL, WITH WHOM I'VE HAD A GREAT RELATIONSHIP, FOR SOME POWER STEERING ISSUES. I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM PIPING ITSELF WAS RUSTING AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED TO THE TUNE OF $1600.00. I RESEARCHED THIS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH GM TRUCKS AND THERE HASN'T BEEN ANYTHING DONE ABOUT IT. GM HAS REDUCED THE COST OF THE REPAIR "KIT" TO $500, BUT WHO IS GOING TO INSTALL IT? I HAVE HAD MANY VEHICLES AND LIVED IN MANY STATES WHERE SALT IS USED ON THE ROAD. RECENTLY, I SPENT THREE DAYS PERFORMING PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ON MY 2005 GMC SIERRA AND FOUND TWO PRIMARY ISSUES THAT SHOULDN'T BE OCCURRING ON THIS YOUNG OF A VEHICLE. THE FIRST WAS ROTTED SECTIONS OF BRAKE LINE (SUPPOSED TO BE STAINLESS STEEL) IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE (THE MAIN LINE THAT COMES BACK FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER) AND THE SECOND ISSUE WAS A LEAKING SEAL IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP. 2005 GMC 2500HD PICKUP TRUCK, HVAC BLOWER SPEED CONTROLLER/RELAY CONNECTOR GOT HOT, BURNED OUT CONNECTOR AND WIRE, LOTS OF SMOKE. IT HAPPENED WHEN TURN FAN TO HIGH. THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO CONTACT RESISTANCE AT THE CONNECTOR. THE WIRE HARNESS END IS TINTED COPPER, THE RELAY/CONTROLLER CONNECTOR IS BARE METAL. DUE TO GALVANIZATION OF DIFFERENT METAL IN THE CONNECTION SYSTEM, THE CONNECTOR IS UNDERSIZE FOR THE BLACK WIRE, WHICH IS THE RETURN CURRENT BECAUSE THE BLOWER ASSEMBLY IS PLASTIC. THE RESISTANCE BETWEEN THE CONTACT POINT OF THE CONNECTOR ACT AS HEATER AND GOT HOT, BURN OUT CONNECTION AND CONNECTOR HOUSING. THE SPEED CONTROL UNIT, WHICH COMPOSED OF FEW POWER RESISTOR IS MOUNTED IN THE AIR STREAM THAT IT WILL COLLECT VAPOR WATER DUE TO CONDENSATION WHEN AC IS IN USED. CUT THE INPUT BLACK WIRE, WIRE NUT IT TOGETHER WITH A 12 AWG JUMPER WIRE, CUT THE BLACK WIRE AT THE BLOWER MOTOR, WIRE NUT IT TO THE OTHER END OF THE JUMPER WIRE. 1). Dash light stays on constantly and reads SERVICE AIR BAG. This was checked out at an auto repair shop. If air bag doesn't respond, it could be fatal. 2). Check engine light is always on. Was checked out at an auto repair shop and repaired on 10/19/2021. 3). Right engine exhaust manifold is cracked and leaking exhaust. Was checked out at a muffler repair shop. In time I'm afraid fumes my leak into the truck cab. 4). A brake line ruptured and was repaired on 09/02/2020.

COMPLAINT ON GM EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT DEFECT, INFERIOR BRAKE/ FUEL LINES. MINE IS A 2005 GMC. DEFECTIVE EXHAUST BOLTS AFFECT 12 MILLION GM TRUCKS FROM 1999 TO 2007. GM EXHAUST BOLTS ARE TO SMALL BRITTLE FOR SECURING EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. BOLTS SNAP OFF CAUSING EXHAUST LEAKS. TRUCKS NOT PASSING EMISSIONS AND DANGEROUS EXHAUST FUMES ENTERING THE DRIVERS COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLES WHILE DRIVING. I AND MY FAMILY GET A CARBON MONOXIDE HEADACHE WHEN I DRIVE IT AND HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FEELING LIKE I WAS GOING TO PASS OUT, OPEN WINDOWS AND SIT UNTIL I FELT BETTER. MY 2005 GMC FROM THE REAR END BRAKE HOSE TO THE WHEEL CYLINDERS THEY USED POWDER COATED BRAKE LINES. THOSE LINES LOOK LIKE NEW YET. GM KNEW THE POWDER COATED LINES WERE BETTER WHY DID THEY USE FAULTY GALVANIZED STEEL ON THE REST OF THE TRUCK? I DRIVE A 2005 SIERRA 1500 4 WHEEL DRIVE. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE TRUCK WENT FROM NORMAL 2 WHEEL DRIVE (D ON THE STEERING COLUMN), INTO NEUTRAL. I DID NOTHING TO CREATE THIS ACTION . DRIVING 75MPH IN HEAVY HIGHWAY TRAFFIC THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER AND SLOWED TO 40 MPH IN ABOUT 200 YARDS. WE ALMOST GOT HIT BY ALL THE TRAFFIC BEHIND AND AROUND US AS THIS HAPPEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING. WE GOT TO THE SIDE OF THE HWY AND I HAVE A SCANNER AND FOUND 2 CODES P0207 AND P2146. I GOT OUT AND CHECKED THE WIRING TO THE #7 INJECTOR AND DID NOT FIND ANYTHING. PLUGGED IT BACK IN CLEARED CODES ,ENGINE RAN FINE SO START DOWN THE ROAD AGAIN. AFTER 5 MILES IT DID IT AGAIN. IT TOOK ME 5 HOURS TO GO 90 MILES TO GET TO THE NEXT CITY. AT THE HOTEL I FOUND THAT GM HAS A TECH BULLETIN FOR THESE FAULTS AND IT WAS PUBLISHED IN 2008 AT LEAST. SO I WENT TO A DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CHARGE ME FOR THIS REPAIR. I WANT TO KNOW WHY GM DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THIS KNOWN DEFECT IN 2008 SO I COULD HAVE THE TRUCK REPAIRED IN 2008? THIS DEFECT CAUSES THE TRUCK TO LOOSE SO MUCH POWER THAT IT WILL SLOW IN TRAFFIC WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WHY WOULD THIS NOT BE A RECALL THAT GM SHOULD PAY FOR ? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ACTIVATING THE A/C, THERE WAS SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE REPAIRS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE YEARS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED A SECOND TIME UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V043000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V417000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,510.

I BOUGHT MY GMC SIERRA 2500 IN JUNE OF 2005. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK I STARTED TO NOTICE RUST ON THE TRAILER HITCH AND FRAME RAILS. AS THE YEARS HAVE GONE BY, THE ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTED OVER. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS A BRAKE LINE RUSTED THROUGH AND THE BRAKE PADS & ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS LUCKY TO BE PICKING MY TRUCK UP FROM THE SHOP AFTER AN OIL CHANGE & NOT DRIVING IT, WHEN I NOTICED BRAKE FLUID ON THE GROUND UNDER MY TRUCK.MY SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY & THE DASHBOARD LIGHTING WORKS OCCASIONALLY. WITHIN 4 MONTHS OF PURCHASE, WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 25 MPH WHEN TRANSFER CASE SHIFTED INTO 4 HIGH ON IT'S OWN. SHUT OFF VEHICLE, RESTART AND ABLE TO PUT BACK INTO 2 WHEEL DRIVE. HAPPENED ON AND OFF FOR A LITTLE MORE THAN A MONTH WHEN IT WENT TO 4 LO WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH THROUGH TOWN. UNABLE TO RESET. LIMPED IT THE 2 MILES TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. COST ME $1200 TO HAVE THE TRANSFER CASE REBUILT. SMOKED THE CLUTCH PACK, BURNED OUT 2 BUSHINGS AND BENT SHIFT SHAFT. HAD SECOND ISSUE OF SHIFTING ON IT'S OWN, MAY 15TH, 2014. THIS TIME IT COST ME $500 FOR THE SHIFT MOTOR TO BE REPLACED. SECOND PROBLEM, SPEEDOMETER READING INCORRECTLY OR NOT AT ALL. BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS SPORADICALLY (APPARENTLY THE LITTLE DRIVE "MOTOR" ON THE BACK OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, $300 REPLACEMENT OR, FOUND A COMPANY TO REBUILD WITH NEW "MOTORS" FOR UNDER $200). PASSLOCK ISSUES STARTED IN JAN 2014, HAS LEFT ME STRANDED A COUPLE TIMES NOW. CAN'T GET A GOOD ANSWER FROM DEALER AS TO HOW TO REPAIR OTHER THAN "BRING IT IN AND WE'LL HOOK IT TO OUR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM" (I.E. PAY US LOTS OF MONEY). ALSO HAVING ISSUE WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY. INTERMITTENT ENGINE MISS ON MULTIPLE CYLINDERS. ROUGH IDLE, CRAPPY MILEAGE, BUT NOT DOWN ON POWER. 2005 GMC SIERRA Z71. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER. THIS VEHICLE HAS 18K MILES, YES 18 THOUSAND ORIGINAL MILES. THIS TRUCK DOES NOT GET BEAT ON AT ALL, NO OFF ROAD ETC, AND IT HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF SINCE NEW. THERE IS A RUST ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS. ON 5-19-2014, ON MY WAY TO THE CAR WASH MY BRAKES STARTED TO FEEL VERY SOFT AND THE TRUCK WAS NOT STOPPING. I CHANGED ROUTES TO MY MECHANICS SHOP, AND WHILE EN ROUTE LOST THE REAR BRAKES. I THANKFULLY ARRIVED (DRIVING VERY SLOWLY) TO THE FRONT OF HIS SHOP. I GOT OUT AND SAW A PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID LEAKING OUT OF THE REAR END BRAKE LINES REAR LINES WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED. HE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND AS IF THIS WASN'T ENOUGH, INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION LINES WERE ALSO LEAKING (RUSTED). MECHANIC ADDED THAT I SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR THE FUEL LINES TO RUST THROUGH NEXT. THIS LINE REPLACEMENT JOB WILL COST ME ABOUT 2K. NOT TO MENTION THE ISSUE WITH THE LOWER ROCKERS AND CAB CORNERS RUSTING. THAT ESTIMATED IS FOR ANOTHER 2K. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK TO LAST ME, AND APPARENTLY GM DOES NOT BUILD A QUALITY PRODUCT ANYMORE. THERE A NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE, AND GM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. THE DRIVER SEAT HEATER RANDOMLY TURNS ON BY ITSELF. IT RANDOMLY SWITCHES FROM THE SEAT TO THE BACK OF THE SEAT TO BOTH AT THE SAME TIME, IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER. WHEN I TURN IT OFF IT JUST COMES RIGHT BACK ON AGAIN. I HAD THE MODULE IN THE DOOR REPLACED ONE TIME, BUT IT STILL DOES IT. I LIVE IN THE SOUTH, SO IT'S EXTREMELY UNBEARABLE DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS. I WILL GO FOR WEEKS AT A TIME WHEN IT DOESN'T DO IT, BUT THEN IT JUST SEEMS TO START AGAIN. THERE REALLY DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR THAT TRIGGERS IT. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS GETTING WET WHEN IT RAINS, BUT SINCE I LIVE IN THE SOUTH WE HAVE HIGH HUMIDITY 95% OF THE TIME, SO WE HAVE MOISTURE PROBLEMS HERE ALL THE TIME. THIS MODEL GMC SIERRA TRUCK HAS A KNOWN PROPENSITY FOR FAILURE OF THE WINDSHIELD WASHER MECHANISM. WHEREAS THIS HAS NOT CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT IT HAS RESULTED IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION AS WHEN VISION OBSCURED BY DUST OR MUD. THE WASHER RESERVOIR IS LOCATED IN A VERY TIGHT SPACE BETWEEN THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE BATTERY. MY WASHER STARTED TO LEAK AFTER I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED. EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOPPING UP THE FLUID I KEPT GETTING A LOW WASHER FLUID WARNING LIGHT. EVENTUALLY I NOTICED THAT WHEN REFILLING ALL OF THE WASHER FLUID LEAKS OUT ONTO THE GROUND BENEATH THE TRUCK. I NOTE THAT WHEN REPLACING THE BATTERY IT WOULD BE VERY EASY TO STRIKE THE WASHER MECHANISM. THIS CAN CRACK THE RESERVOIR, DISLODGE A HOSE, OR CAUSE A GASKET IN THE DEVICE TO FAIL. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITH CERTAINTY AS GMC REFUSES TO DIAGNOSE THIS SAFETY CONCERN FREE OF CHARGE. I BELIEVE THAT THE WINDSHIELD WASHER IS A CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE 2005 GMC 2500HD FWD (WELL MAINTAINED AND OILED TO PREVENT CORROSION) EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WHILE TOWING MY 24' PURSUIT FISHING BOAT (7200 LBS.) HOME FROM STURGEON POINT MARINA TO HAMBURG, NY 14075 (APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES) WITH "MINIMAL" STOPPING CAPABILITY AS THE DOT 3 BRAKE FLUID WAS BEING EXPELLED. I HAD TO FEATURE THE THROTTLE TO NEGOTIATE STOPPING SENARIOS WITHOUT ISSUE. AS OF 8/20/12, THIS VEHICLE IS WITH FUCCILLO CHEVROLET, INC. (GRAND ISLAND, NY) FOR OVERHAUL OF ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM; INCLUDING FUEL LINES. THE CERTIFIED TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINES SYSTEM BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FUEL LINES DUE TO EXTREME CORROSION. ALL THIS WORK IS BEING PERFORMED SINCE THE EXCELLENT CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE.THE ESTIMATE FOR THIS WORK IS APPROXIMATELY $2250 TO REPLACE ALL LINES (BRAKE / GAS) AFFECTED BY SEVERE CORROSION. THIS CONDITION IS A RESULT OF POOR MATERIAL SELECTION NOT CAPABLE OF WITHSTANDING NORMAL WINTER CONDITIONS FOUND IN THE NORTHEAST. I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE. I AM FILING THE COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HAVE PREVIOUSLY TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO BOB JEANNOTTE PONTIAC-GMC TRUCK, INC., PLYMOUTH, MI 48170 (734) 453-2500 TO HAVE AN INSPECTION FOR RUSTED BRAKE LINES AS WELL AS RUSTED FRAME ON THE ABOVE LISTED INCIDENT DATE. MY INVOICE # IS GCCS189900 AND MY CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE PROVIDED CASE # IS 71-784-24265. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE CONDITIONS BY THE DEALER REP. THIS VEHICLE IS HAVING CONTINUAL RUST PROBLEMS TO BOTH THE BRAKE LINES AND FRAME. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT AS I UNDERSTAND THERE IS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM UP TO YEAR 2003 AND WOULD LIKE MY VEHICLE YEAR TO BE INCLUDED IN THESE INVESTIGATION ISSUES.

NOTICED A NOISE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION/DRIVE TRAIN. AN ALIGNMENT SHOP CHECKED THE FRONT END AND THEY FOUND THAT THE FRONT SEALED WHEEL BEARINGS WERE ABOUT TO HAVE A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. VEHICLE HAS 65,000 MILES AND HAS NEVER BEEN SUBJECTED TO HARSH ENVIRONMENTS. WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY. SEALED BEARINGS HAVE NO MAINTENANCE OPTIONS AND CAN CREATE AN ACCIDENT. LEARNED OF OTHER GMC FRONT WHEEL BEARING ISSUES WHILE MEETING WITH THE SHOP TO ARRANGE FOR REPAIRS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHENEVER THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED WITH THE GEAR SHIFTER PLACED IN THE "NEUTRAL" POSITION; THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERN OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.

I OWN A 2005 GMC SIERRA AND THE SPEEDOMETER HAS FAILED. I OWN A GPS SO I USE THIS TO HELP DETERMINE THE SPEED I AM TRAVELING. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND CONTACTED GM AND THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT HELP ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $380.00 TO GET IT REPAIRED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WITH THE HEAT ACTIVATED, THE CONTACT SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING COMING FROM THE BLOWER MOTOR. SOMETIMES, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN, HE WOULD SMELL FUEL. WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, ONE OF THE REAR TIRES SLIDES AND THE OTHER ONE KEEPS SPINNING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RESISTOR MELTED THE GROUNDING WIRE AND CAUSED THE BLOWER MOTOR TO FAIL. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (060139002) FOR THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR WOULD BE THE CONTACT'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,670 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,470.

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKED AND ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE GRADUALLY MOVED. THE BRAKES AND STEERING WERE ALSO NOT WORKING. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNALS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, HOWEVER THE CONTACT HAD NOT RECEIVED RESULTS FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. 2005 GMC SIERRA SLT VIN [XXX] I DROVE THE TRUCK 237 MILES HOME AND NOTICED IT WAS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY. I CALLED GMC TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK HAS BINDING IN THE FRONT AXLES, BRAKES, OR DIFFERENTIAL. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO UNDERSTEER HEAVILY AS THE TRUCK WORKS TO TURN THE FRONT WHEELS OVER THE ROAD SURFACE. THIS ALSO MAKES THE TRUCK DIFFICULT TO STEER, U TURNS ARE ESPECIALLY A PROBLEM, THE TRUCK HAS SLUGGISH ACCELERATION AND STAYS LONGER IN THE LOWER GEARS. THE REAR TIRES ARE PRONE TO LOSE TRACTION DUE TO THE INCREASED ROLLING RESISTANCE FROM THE FRONT WHEELS, BRAKING PERFORMANCE IS COMPROMISED, THE TRUCK WILL SWAY BACK AND FORTH AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AS THE ROLLING RESISTANCE OF THE FRONT WHEELS VARIES FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE TRUCK TENDS TO PULL TO THE LEFT, AND THE SUSPENSION IS ALWAYS PRELOADED FROM THE ADDITIONAL STRESS. THE ENGINE LABORS TO MAINTAIN SPEED ON LEVEL GROUND WITH THE VEHICLE UNLOADED. ON OCCASION THE FRONT WHEELS WILL HOP OFF THE PAVEMENT AS IT IS EASIER FOR THEM TO COMPRESS THE SUSPENSION/TORSION BARS THAN BE TURNED OVER THE ROAD. IT IS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN A STRAIGHT LINE WITH THE TRUCK SINCE THE FRONT WHEELS TEND TO FOLLOW THE CONTOURS OF THE ROAD. THE FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLIES MAKE A LOW FREQUENCY SOUND WHEN DRIVING. THE TRANSMISSION, ENGINE, AND DRIVETRAIN COMPONENTS ARE ALWAYS LOADED AND DRIVING ON SNOW OR ICE WOULD BE TREACHEROUS SINCE THE FRONT WHEELS WOULD STOP TURNING ON THE LOW FRICTION SURFACE. DRIVING IN THE RAIN IS BAD ENOUGH AND THE REAR WHEELS TEND TO BREAK LOOSE. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEHAVED STRANGELY, STUTTERING ON OCCASION AS IT TRIED TO FIND THE PROPER GEAR, IT HAS SLIPPED OR FREEWHEELED AS I WENT TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. THE WRONG OIL FILTER WAS INSTALLED, THE AIR CLEANER IS LOOSE AND RATTLES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. GMC 3500 CREW CAB DUALLY WITH THE 6.6 DURAMAX DIESEL AND ALLISON AUTOMATIC CAN TO PERFORM ITS DESIGNED JOB WITH OUT OVER HEATING. TRUCK IS RATED FOR 23,500 GCWR AND A 16000 TOWING CAPACITY. HOWEVER IT STRUGGLES TO PULL 7000 POUNDS AND ENGINE TEMPERATURE GOT OVER 230, AND TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE OVER 210. THE COOLING FAN STRUGGLES TO CONTROL THE HEAT AND RUNS CONSTANTLY, THE NOISE IS UNBEARABLE. IF ONE WERE TO ATTEMPT TO PULL MY RV UP A MOUNTAIN GRADE IN THE SUMMER I WOULD BE LEFT STRANDED ON THE ROAD OR IN TRAFFIC. *NM

I OWN A 2003 2500 HD 4X4, A WONDERFUL VEHICLE IT WOULD BE EVEN MORE WONDERFUL IF I COULD FIND A DEALER THAT WOULD STAND BEHIND HIS PRODUCT. MY NEXT CAR PROBABLY WILL NOT BE GMC OR CHEVY. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE JUNE OF 2003. DUE TO THE NATURE OF MY BUSINESS I ALREADY HAVE 98,000 MILES. DURING THAT TIME I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT FUEL MILEAGE. THE REPORTS LIE. NOBODY WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE FUEL MILEAGE. BECAUSE IT CAN'T GET ANY BETTER BECAUSE THEY LIED. I HAVE LOST A VACCUME PUMP, AND A LEFT FRONT WHEEL HUB WHICH HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. WHAT PROMPTED MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAVE STARTED DEVELOPING A VIBRATION AT 77-83 MPH. DEALER REP SAYS YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING 80 MPH. THEREFORE SINCE OUR MECHANICS CAN'T SPEED IN YOUR VEHICLE ( COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDABLE) YOU DON'T HAVE A VIBRATION. DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE VIBRATION OCCOURS AT 80MPH I STILL HAVE A VIBRATION AND JUST BECAUSE IT IS AGAINST THE LAW, ( 75 IS ABOUT THE NORM ON OUR HIGHWAYS), DOESN'T MEAN I DON'T HAVE A VIBRATION. MY GUESS IS THAT IT IS EITHER ANOTHER WHEEL HUB, OR SOMETHING IN THE INSTALLATION OF THE NEW VACCUME PUMP. BECAUSE AFTER THEY REPLACED THAT IT RAN GOOD FOR AWHILE. THE VIBRATION IS GETTING WORSE AND I AM AT 97-98,000 MILES. VEHICLE IS ALSO STARTING TO SURGE, BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ABOUT THE OTHER COMPLAINTS IT COULD BE THE AC ACTING UP. BUT SINCE IT WASN'T SURGING THIS TIME, WELL IF YOUR A CONSUMER READING THIS YOU KNOW THE STORY. I HAVE TOLD YOU ALL THE BAD. NOW FOR SOME GOOD.... THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON THIS CAR IS BEAUTIFUL I AM STILL LESS THAN HALF ALL THE WAY AROUND. THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS PERFECTLY TUNED FROM FRONT TO BACK. I HAVE HAULED CARS AND TRAILORS FROM TIME TO TIME AND THE ENGINE TRANSMISSION AND BRAKES ALL WORK TOGETHER BEAUTIFULLY. ITS THE SERVICE I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT.

DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE TRUCK HAD A TRANSMISSION LEAK. AFTER FIVE TIMES TRYING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM HE LET THE VEHICLE GO BACK, AND LOST MONEY ON THE TRUCK WHEN HE TRADED IT IN. HE HAD THE RECEIPTS AVAILABLE. THEY REPLACED SEALS ON THE REAR SHAFT AND THE REAR SHAFT HOUSING. HE CALLED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY HAD A KIT SO THEY HAD TO REPLACE A BUNCH OF SEALS IN IT. THREE WEEKS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE WHICH WAS NOVEMBER 15, 2004. ALSO, HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CD PLAYER. THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE CD PLAYER.*AK
