THIS IS A 2500 SUBURBAN AND THE FRONT DISC BRAKES WEAR OUT EVERY 11,000 MILES. THE REAR DRUM BRAKES DID NOT WEAR OUT UNTIL 137,000 MILES, AND THAT WAS ONLY AFTER I HAD THE BRAKE COMBINATION VALVE CHANGED ACCORDING TO TSB #99-05-24-001A WHICH WAS ISSUED BY GM TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. UNTIL I LOCATED THIS TSB, I JUST KEPT BEING TOLD THAT THE 3/4 TON SUBURBANS ALL GO THROUGH FRONT BRAKES VERY QUICKLY. I WAS TOLD THIS AT SEVERAL GARAGES AND SEVERAL DEALERS. I FEEL THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE AND NOT WEARING OUT THE REAR BRAKES UNTIL THE PROPORTIONING VALVE WAS REPLACED (WHICH I PAID $256. FOR) DEMONSTRATES THAT THE WRONG PROPORTIONING VALVE WAS INSTALLED IN THIS VEHICLE. I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THIS AND FIND OUT IF I HAVE ANY RECOURSE IN GETTING REIMBURSED FOR MY EXPENSES. I AM NOT AWARE OF ANY RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THE BRAKES. THANK YOU.*AK

FRONT BRAKE ROTOR FAILURE. VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH COMPOSITE ROTORS, WHICH FAILED (CRACKED) AT THE JUNCTION OF THE ROTOR AND HUB. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVCED AT 3 MO. INTERVALES THROUGH OUT IT'S LIFE WITH CHECKS TO UNDERCARRAIGE, BRAKES, TIRES AND SUSPENSION. SERVICE RECORDS CAN BE PROVIDED. GMC HAD BEEN NOTIFIED(REQ# 06116896) AND I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER SAID THIS WAS A WASTE OF TIME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *AK

Tire: 265/70R16. New tire, bought less than 20 days earlier. Hit minor pothole on LA Hwy 1019, northbound on July 8, 2021. Immediately noticed a vibration originating from rt front area of Suburban. Speed limit on highway was 45 mph; I was driving at the required limit. Took vehicle to my tire man July 9, 2021. He explained that damage to tire was slipped belt, not the result of a thrown wheel weight. I had to replace a new tire with less than 100 miles on the tire. $190.

265/70/R16. Cruising down Interstate around Des Moines, Iowa at 65 mph. Hot day July 2021. Heard muffled "pop" noise. Few seconds later, suburban began to shake and vibrate violently. Approaching uncontrollable. Pulled off road onto side street. Noted bulge on top of tire. Located a Goodyear tire store in Ames, Iowa. Tire man identified the problem, ordered a new tire (Hankook brand). We spent unintended night nearby in hotel, had tire changed out at Goodyear Tire store, all other tires were inspected by qualified technicians, given a clean bill of health, and we continued on. No warning of impending tire failure. This incident was a second belt failure on same brand of tire within 30 days. First belt failure occurred about 20 days earlier on a same brand, and type tire that had less than 1,000 miles of wear on same vehicle.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 65  70 MPH, THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRE. IN A MATTER OF ABOUT 15 SECONDS WE WERE RIDING ON THE RIM. BECAUSE IT WAS A REAR TIRE, I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND PULL TO THE SIDE. HAD IT BEEN A FRONT TIRE, I DOUBT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE CASE. WE WERE HEADED OUT ON A TRIP AND I HAD CHECKED THE TIRE ONLY 15 MINUTES BEFORE. EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE. DOOR HINGES ON BOTH FRONT DOORS HAVE FAILED TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE DOORS WITHOUT EXTREME EFFORT, TO THE POINT THAT IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR CHILDREN TO OPEN THE DOORS IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. THE DOOR HINGES ARE NON-ADJUSTABLE, AND THERE IS NO OBVIOUS WAY TO RE-CENTER THE DOOR IN THE FRAME. LIKEWISE, THE REAR PANEL DOOR HINGES HAVE FAILED IN THE SAME MANNER, RESULTING IN THE DOORS ALLOWING AIR FLOW AND LIKEWISE CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE CABIN. AGAIN, THERE APPEARS TO BE NO WAY TO ADJUST THE HINGES. THIS VEHICLE HAS SEEN VERY LITTLE "ROUGH ROAD" USEAGE, SINCE WE HAVE OWNED IT, AND THE HINGES WERE FINE WHEN WE BOUGHT IT USED WITH 66K MILES ON IT. IT WOULD APPEAR THAT EITHER THE HINGES ARE OF A BAD DESIGN, OR SOME BUSHINGS HAVE WORN OUT WHICH ARE NOT ACCESSIBLE. I HAVE OWNED NUMEROUS VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS THAT HAD MANY MORE MILES AND NEVER HAD ANY HINT OF DOOR PROBLEM. I CAN FORSEE THE TOP HINGE PINS ON BOTH FRONT DOORS EVENTUALLY FAILING, ALLOWING THE DOORS TO PARTIALLY POP OPEN FROM THE FRONT EDGE.

IGNITION SYSTEM FAILED TWICE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY, AND REMAINS IN 2ND GEAR. THE SPEEDOMOTER DOESN'T WORK AND THE BRAKES LOCK UP. THE SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT ALSO GOES OUT. I CONTACTED TWO LOCAL GM DEALERS. BOTH MACHANICS KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG, AS THEY HAVE MANY COME IN LARELY WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM. THEY KNEW THE EXACT PRICE AND TIME IT TAKES TO PUT THE PART IN BECAUSE THEY HAVE DONE SO MANY OF THEM LATELY. IN FACT, ONE OF THE MECHANICS REPLIED THAT HE IS SURPRISED THEY HAVEN'T RECALLED THIS PART YET. HE'S REPLACED SO MANY OF THEM.*AK

THE TRAILER HITCH BOLT TO THE REAR OF THE CHASSI WAS DAMAGED. THE DAMAGE WAS 2 CRACKS. EACH CRACK WAS ON EACH ANGLE THAT IS BOLTED TO THE CHASSI. ONE CRACK ON THE RIGHT SIDE WAS ABOUT ON INCH LONG THE OTHER CRACK ON THE LEFT SIDE WAS IN THE BEND AREA ABOUT 3 1/2 INCHES LONG, RUNNING FROM THE REAR GOING FORWARD. THIS CRACK WAS MORE PRONOUNCED.

THE ELECTRIC CONNECTOR FOR THE LOW PRESSURE/ LOSS OF FLUID WAS NOT CONNECTED AT THE FACTORY TO THE ABS VALVE. THE ORIGINAL BATTERY LEAKED AT THE + POST. THE OEM REPLACEMENT BATTERY DID THE SAME. AFTER THAT I SWITCHED TO AN AFTER MARKET GEL BATTERY,OPTIMA BRAND AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. THE FACTORY INSTALLED TRAILER HITCH PLATFORM STARTED TO FAILL WHEN I WAS TOWING A 9000LBS TRAILER,SHOWING A 3 TO 4 INCH CRACK IN THE RIGHT SIDE BOLTED TO THE FRAME. ALL THOSE FAILLED PARTS WERE REPLACED AT NO CHARGE BY THE DEALER UNDER EITHER GMC WARRENTY OR "GOOD WILL" POLICY. *AK

TRANMISSION REPLACED BY PITRE, UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND TRANSMISSION FAILED THIS SUMMER. REASON? CRACKED HOUSING. NOTHING WRONG WITH MECHANICAL. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING. I HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ONCE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN A COLLISION. I FEEL THE HOUSING IS FAULITY. NOW THE A/C UNIT FAILED. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GMC PRODUCT.
