THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE KEY CHAIN WAS ATTACHED TO THE KEYS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START HOWEVER, WHEN THE KEY CHAIN WAS REMOVED, THE VEHICLE START AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER NOR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 220,000.

MY VEHICLE, DUE TO FACTORY ALARM SYSTEM, IS UNSAFE AND UNFIT TO DRIVE -- A DEATH TRAP ON WHEELS. IT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WHILE DRIVING, AND LOCKED ME INSIDE! I WAS THANKFULLY DRIVING DOWN THE FL KEYS, ON A BRIDGE BUT AT THE END OF THE BRIDGE, SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST DOWN AND OFF THE BRIDGE TO A SHOULDER... IF IT HAD DIED ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE BRIDGE OR ON AN FLAT ROAD I MAY HAVE BEEN STUCK THERE, BLOCKING TRAFFIC AT THE MINIMUM, IN AN ACCIDENT AND DEAD IF REAR-ENDED AND PUSHED OFF BRIDGE...BECAUSE THE DOORS LOCKED AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNLIKELY TO ESCAPE MY SINKING TRUCK...TO SAY NOTHING OF THE FALL ITSELF. IF I HAD BEEN GOING ON THE INTERSTATE AND I WAS IN A MIDDLE LANE FOR EXAMPLE, I COULD HAVE EASILY DIED BECAUSE MY TRUCK SUDDENLY STOPPED, WITHOUT INDICATION, AND I GOT REAR ENDED BY ANY NUMBER OF VEHICLES, INCLUDING LARGE SEMI TRUCKS. IF I HAD A DEAD KEYCHAIN FOB FOR THE ALARM, I WOULD HAVE BEEN LOCKED INSIDE THE TRUCK AS WELL -- BECAUSE ONLY THE KEYCHAIN WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. IF MY PHONE HAD DIED OR I HAD NO SIGNAL, I WOULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE AS WELL IF AND UNTIL HELP ARRIVED UNLESS I GOT DESPERATE ENOUGH TO SMASH OUT A WINDOW. ALL THE MECHANICS I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HAVE STRUGGLED TO RESOLVED THE ISSUE, BUT IT IS SOMETHING THE TRUCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR AND FIXED FOR FREE BY GMC -- A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND SEEN OTHER SIMILAR TRUCKS BY GMC HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH FACTORY ALARMS AND MY MECHANIC SAYS HE HAS HAD 2 OTHER, DIFFERENT MAKES/MODELS, JUST ARRIVE WITH NEARLY SAME PROBLEM, AS IF BY FATE AND HE IS HAVING TROUBLE FIXING THOSE AS WELL -- BECAUSE ITS A FACTORY EMBEDDED ALARM PROBLEMS. IT REMAINS UNFIXED TO THIS DAY AND I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS FIXED.

VEHICLE RANDOMLY GOES INTO REDUCE ENGINE POWER MODE AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND GOING UP A HILL WHERE IT NEARLY CAUSED A THREE CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENTS. BASIC RESEARCH SHOWS THAT GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLES WERE A FEW YEARS OLD AND IT AFFECTS MANY YEARS OF GM VEHICLES. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH BAD GROUNDING CONNECTORS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR AND AND WIRING HARNESS.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. GAUGES RANDOMLY STICK OR FALSELY READ TO INCLUDE SPEEDOMETER. SOMETIMES IT WILL STICK AT A RANDOM SPEED. OTHER TIMES IT WILL PEG AT ITS MAX. UNKNOWN IF ODOMETER IS INVOLVED. SOMETIMES THEY RESET AFTER REPEATED START/OFF CYCLES. WAS COVERED UNDER A GM RECALL BULLETIN NO: 07187B, PAGE 8. CURRENT ODOMETER IS 145,369. SHOULD GM NOT REPAIR THIS AFTER THE WARRANTED PERIOD? THIS IS JUST AS DANGEROUS NOW THAN IT WAS AT 70,000 MILES. OIL PRESSURE GAUGE VERY RARELY READS CORRECTLY. I TRAILER TOW OFTEN AND CORRECT OIL PRESSURE IS IMPERATIVE AS IS A CORRECT SPEEDOMETER READING. ON THE TOP OF THE PAGE I DOWNLOADED FROM NHTSA IS THE NUMBER CSC-10026542-8984. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS BEGAN TWO YEARS AGO WITH A FAULTY AMP GAUGE BUT WITHIN THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS IT HAS NOW AFFECTED ALL GAUGES BUT THE FUEL GAUGE, WATER TEMP AND TRANSMISSION TEMP. POSSIBLY RELATED IS THE HEATED SEAT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE HEAT IS ON ALL THE TIME (ON HI) AND CAN ONLY BE SHUT OFF BY UNPLUGGING THE SEAT WHICH DEACTIVATES THE AIR BAG SENSOR, POWER SEAT CONTROL AND THE LIKE. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED GM AT THIS TIME. PLEASE ADVISE ME AS TO MY COURSE OF ACTION.

IN ADDITION, THE DIGITAL DISPLAY WAS NOT FUNCTIONING DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

I WAS LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL ON MY GMC YUKON BLEW OUT. THE LINE HAD RUSTED THOROUGH. THIS OCCURRED IN 2012. SINCE THEN AS A GM TECHNICIAN I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD OF CUSTOMERS, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WITH GM TRUCKS HAVE THEIR BRAKE LINES BLOW OUT FROM RUST. GM HAS A REAL ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THE BRAKES LINES ON THEIR TRUCK MODELS TEND TO RUST OUT. GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL BUT OFFERED A NEW BRAKE LINE KIT. MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHY? I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS ISSUE ON THE SAME MODEL YEAR GM CARS. AS FAR AS I KNOW NO ONE HAS DIED AS A RESULT BUT THERE HAS TO HAVE BEEN INJURIES. IS IT NOT YOUR JOB TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE? BRAKES LINES RUSTED WHICH LED TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF BRAKE SYSTEM. REPAIR COST $1,000. THERE ARE MULTIPLE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS TYPE OF BRAKE FAILURE IN THIS MAKE, MODEL, & YEAR. THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATORY FACTORY RECALL. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE GM IS NOT BEING FORCED TO FIX THEIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL THE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOORBOARD. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD IN MODERATE CITY TRAFFIC & NARROWLY MISSED STRIKING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ON A CITY STREET. MY MASTER CYLINDER WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY OF BRAKE FLUID WHEN EXAMINED. BRAKE LINES CORRODED RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKES AND REAR ENDING SCHOOL BUS. REPLACED ALL BRAKE LINES AT MY COST AS WELL AS THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK. NOW, THE KNOWN ABS BRAKE SENSOR ISSUE IS ACTIVATING THE ABS AT LOW SPEEDS.

IN DECEMBER 2013 MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING OUR 2003 GMC YUKON XL 2500 4X4 OUTSIDE OF COOPERSTOWN, NEW YORK. THE BRAKES FAILED ON ROUTE 26 COMING DOWN THE HILL TOWARDS ROUTE 28. IT WAS SNOWING AND ABOUT 11:30 AT NIGHT. WE SLID SIDEWAYS DOWN THE HILL AND ACROSS ROUTE 28. THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED US FROM ROLLING OVER AN EMBANKMENT WAS THE NEW METAL GUARDRAIL THAT WAS RECENTLY INSTALLED ALONG ROUTE 28. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE NOT INJURED, AND THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. I EXPERIENCED IMMEDIATE AND COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. IT WAS NOT A SLOW PROCESS. OUR YUKON IS WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS ONLY 89,000 MILES ON IT. 1 - MY LOCAL DEALER, WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW, AND WHO INSPECTED MY VEHICLE BRAKE LINE FAILURE AND QUOTED THE REPAIRS, DENIED A BACKUP SYSTEM IN THE EVENT OF A BRAKE LINE FAILURE. 2 - A DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT ALL FIVE OF MY BRAKE LINES HAD FAILED AND WERE LEAKING FLUID DURING A TEST TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. 3 - I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY FOUR DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS, WITHIN ONE WEEKS TIME, AND THEY ALL CONFIRM FAILURE OF THE BRAKE FLUID LINES DUE TO RUST. I DID NOT YET HAVE THE BRAKES REPAIRED YET BECAUSE THE QUOTES WERE SO HIGH. MANY NEW YORKERS MAY HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED THIS BRAKE LINE FAILURE , OR ARE STILL AT RISK OF A SERIOUS, OR FATAL ACCIDENT. MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN SERIOUS INJURIES AND POSSIBLY DEATHS AROUND THE COUNTRY AND THIS BRAKE LINE FAILURE MAY HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT ACCIDENT FILES BE REVIEWED BY VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL, AS LISTED IN THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION REPORT, TO SEE IF THERE IS A CORRELATION. WE OFTEN SEE FATALITIES LISTED AS SPEED TO FAST FOR ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN IN FACT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN BRAKE LINE FAILURE.

2003 GMC YUKON. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO INTERMITTENT ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, WARNING BELLS STARTED TO SOUND AND THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT, ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID, AND FOUND IT WAS OK. THE NEXT DAY, HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY REPLACED THE PADS AND CHECKED THE SYSTEM. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, WHICH VERIFIED THE ABS HAD COME ON, BUT RESET WHEN THE ENGINE WAS RE-STARED. THE BRAKE SHOP RECOMMENDED THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. HOWEVER, IN THEIR OPINION THE ABS MODULE AND ABS PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY EXPLAINED TO THE CONSUMER, WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON, THE ABS WAS INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, IT WOULD COST $125, JUST TO RUN THE DIAGNOSTIC AND IF THE MODULE AND PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, IT WOULD COST $ 2,200. THE ABS LIGHT STAYED OUT FOR WEEKS. HOWEVER, IN MARCH 2014, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. *JB

THE CONTACT HAD TO UTILIZE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. WE CAME HOME FROM VACATION TO FIND OUR 2003 YUKON'S BATTERY DEAD. MY HUSBAND JUMPED IT AND TOOK IT FOR A RIDE. IT WOULDN'T RUN OVER 20 MPH. THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT IS ON. HE SHUT IT OFF AND IT'S RUNNING OK RIGHT NOW. I CHECK OUT A COUPLE OF FORUMS ON THIS PROBLEM. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE ENDLESS NUMBERS OF CONSUMERS REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM COMING BACK EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE HAD IT SERVICED BY THE DEALER. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO COME WITHOUT ANY NOTICE TO THE DRIVER AND HAS ALMOST CAUSE ACCIDENTS. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE CLAIM TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN THEIR CAR SUDDENLY DROPS TO 20-30 MPH. RANDOMLY, THE TRUCK WILL GO FROM DRIVING COMPLETELY NORMAL TO GETTING A MESSAGE SAYING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND THEN IT CUTS OFF POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 10 TO 12 TIMES, THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED I COULD NOT DRIVE MORE THAN APPROX 35 MPH EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL FLOORED. WE HAVE REPLACED THE SUPPOSEDLY DEFECTIVE PART(S) TO NO AVAIL.

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR WITH THIS VEHICLE. I FILED A COMPLAINT ( 10398842 ) WITH YOUR DEPARTMENT ON 05/03/2011. SINCE THAT DATE, WE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO DALLAS, TX FOR A CONVENTION WITH NO VEHICLE PROBLEMS. THEN ON JUNE 5TH, WE WERE RETURNING FROM HOUSTON WHEN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY WARNING GAVE A MESSAGE THAT THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO REDUCED POWER WHILE WE WERE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. WE HAD TO WORK OUR WAY TO A SAFE AREA TO PARK BECAUSE WE WERE A HAZARD TO OTHER DRIVERS. THIS AFTERNOON I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS TO GET SOME RESPONSE TO THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT THE ENGINE WAS PROTECTING ITSELF FROM DAMAGE. AGAIN, I ASKED IF IT WAS MORE IMPORTANT TO PROTECT THE ENGINE THAN THE OCCUPANTS, THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS RATHER TESTY ABOUT THE ISSUE. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN I SAID THAT NO AUTOMOBILE IN AMERICA SHOULD SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC FOR A NON EMERGENCY. ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DRIVER LOOSES CONTROL OF THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DURING THE REDUCED POWER INTERVAL WHICH SHOWS THAT ALL GAUGES WERE NORMAL SO THERE WAS NO REASON TO EXPECT ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE WAS AT 500 RPM AND WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED. THIS IS CAUSING US TO FEAR DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. IN ANY CASE, I CANNOT SEE ANY REASON FOR ANY VEHICLE ON THE AMERICAN ROADS TO BE UNDER THE CONTROL OF ITSELF WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE PASSENGERS SHOULD BE THE PRIMARY CONCERN. I HOPE YOU CAN GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURS WITH THIS VEHICLE. IF THERE ISN'T A CURRENT RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM, SHOULD THERE BE? THIS VEHICLE DISPLAYED A MESSAGE THET THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT REDUCED POWER. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SLOWED TO IDLE SPEED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON A PUBLIC STREET. WE HAD BEEN PULLING A TRAVLE TRAILER JUST PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. THIS CREATED A POSSIBLE DANGER TO US AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS ON THE STREET SINCE WE COULD HARDLY GET THE VEHICLE TO POWER UP SO WE COULD GET OFF THE STREET. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER IN BEAUMONT, TX. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A COMMOM OPERATION TO PROTECT THE ENGING FROM DAMAGE AND THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS HAD OCCURED WHILE WE WERE MOTORING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH THE TRAVEL TRAILER IN TOW? IF THERE IS A CHOICE BETWEEN PROTECTING THE ENGINE OR MY FAMILY, MY FAMILY COMES FIRST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED BEFORE DEATHS OCCUR FROM THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO CHECKED THE FAILURE CODE. HE COULD NOT DETERMINE THE EXACT PROBLEM BUT HE CLEARED THE FAULT CODE P2135 FROM THE SYSTEM. I OWN A 2003 GMC YUKON XL 1500 THAT HAS A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SECTION MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND AND AS THE SOUND GETS WORSE, THE STEERING BECOMES LOOSE. THE PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING SHORTLY AFTER THE FIRST 12000 MILES. THE DEALER LUBRICATED IT A NUMBER OF TIMES UNTIL THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. AT 62000 MILES FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SERVICE, THE DEALER SAID A REPLACEMENT PART WAS AVAILABLE THAT WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AFTER ARGUING WITH THE DEALER, HE AGREED TO REPLACED THE PART IF I PAID FOR THE LABOR . THE PROBLEM RETURNED AT ABOUT 85000 MILES. THE DEALER LUBRICATED AGAIN. TODAY AT 102000 MILES THE NOISE AND LOOSENESS IS BACK. COULD NOT WIN THE ARGUMENT THIS TIME. HAD TO PAY $213.00 FOR THE LATEST VERSION OF THE REPLACEMENT. MAY 2009, SECOND TIRE WENT FLAT DOING 70 MILES AN HOUR WITH MY KIDS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY HOME FROM COLLEGE. TIRE WENT FLAT, IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TIRE WAS DAMAGED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, $225.00. CAUSE OF DAMAGE WAS VALVE STEM, TR 413. ONE WEEK LATER, THIRD TIRE WENT FLAT GOING BACK TO COLLEGE. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF OF HIGHWAY. MICHELIN TIRE ALSO RUINED, CRUSHED SIDE WALL, ANOTHER $225.00. WENT BACK TO NTB AND COMPLAINED. AT MY REQUEST INSPECTED 4TH TIRE AND IT HAD A BAD STEM AND WAS LEAKING. ALL STEMS WERE THE TR-413 AND NOT A HIGH PRESSURE STEM. THIS STEM IS FOR UP TO 40 PSI. RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE IS 35 PSI, BUT AT HIGH SPEEDS AND IN HOT TEXAS, PRESSURE FOR SURE RISES ABOVE THE MINIMUM 40 PSI. ORIGINAL SPARE HAS HIGH PRESSURE VALVE STEM. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED. I LIVE IN FLORIDA- IT WAS APPROX 8 AM, SITTING OUTSIDE DRINKING COFFEE ON MY PORCH. VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED SINCE PRIOR AFTERNOON AND WAS LOCKED (ALARM ENGAGED). SUDDENLY, MY REAR WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY 'EXPLODED'. THERE WAS GLASS EVERYWHERE BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESEARCHING WHAT COULD'VE CAUSED SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN, THERE ARE INNUMERABLE REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER GMC OWNERS WITHOUT ANY PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATION. THIS IS A VERY CONCERNING ISSUE AS GLASS FLEW EVERYWHERE IN AND AROUND MY VEHICLE AND IT IS BY PURE LUCK THAT MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND USUALLY AT LEAST 1-2 OF HER FRIENDS, ALONG WITH MY ONE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, WHO NATURALLY, IS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE MERELY WALKING BY THE VEHICLE COULD'VE BEEN INJURED JUST WALKING BY. HAD SOMEONE BEEN NEAR MY VEHICLE IN A PUBLIC PLACE, I.E. GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, ETC. THEY COULD'VE BEEN INJURED BY THE SHARDS OF GLASS THAT SHOT OUT AND LANDED 4+ FEET FROM THE VEHICLE, LEAVING ME AT RISK OF FURTHER CIVIL ACTIO AND POSSIBLE SUIT. I AM ALSO A PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATOR FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND OFTEN TIMES HAVE OTHER CHILDREN IN MY VEHICLE. THIS IS BOTH A HUGE CIVIL, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN THE TOP RIGHT HINGE BROKE AWAY FROM THE GLASS ON THE REAR DOOR OF MY 2003 YUKON DENALI (~50,000 MI.), AND AFTER DISCUSSING IT WITH MY DEALER, I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISOLATED CASE. THE RESULTING TWISTING OF THE MISALIGNED WINDOW HAS CAUSED THE LEFT HINGE BOND TO PARTIALLY CRACK AND SEPARATE AS WELL. MY VEHICLE IS GARAGED 90+% OF THE TIME AND I SELDOM USED THE REAR WINDOW. CURRENTLY, THE ONLY THING HOLDING THIS WINDOW TO THE VEHICLE IS THE DOOR LOCK AND ONE PARTIAL (LEFT) HINGE. IT IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. MY DEALER WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING, OTHER THAN REPLACE THE ENTIRE BACK DOOR AT $1,000. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WOULDN'T EITHER SAYING THERE WAS NO BROKEN GLASS. The contact also stated that the vehicle would shake upon depression of the brake pedal without warning. The vehicle was taken to the independent where the vehicle was purchased and was offered no assistance. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 55 COMING FROM SIKESTON MO HEADED TO ST LOUIS WITH MY FAMILY. AS I WAS DRIVING I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND THE TRUCK HAD BEGUN TO VIBRATE AFTER PULLING OF I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS FLUID LEAKING OUT. I HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED BACK THE MECHANIC ASSUMED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS GONE OUT BUT UPON REMOVING THE TRANSFER CASE IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION ADAPTER HAD SHATTER I HAD MANY DEALERS LOOK AT THE PIECE AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NEVER SEEN NOTHING LIKE IT. ON 9/16/14, I GOT INTO MY CAR AND STARTED THE ENGINE. UPON STARTING THE ENGINE, BOTH AIRBAGS BLEW UP. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR IMPACT, THEY JUST BLEW UP. THERE WAS NOBODY IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THAT ONE BLEW UP TOO. I REPORTED THIS INCIDENT TO GM AND THEY INVESTIGATED IT AND HAVE DENIED PAYING TO REPAIR DAMAGES. THEY SAY THERE WAS CORROSION IN THE AIRBAG SENSOR. NOWHERE IN THE OWNERS MANUAL DOES IT SAY THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THESE CONNECTIONS. THIS IS A LIFE SAFETY DEVICE THAT SHOULD BE ASSEMBLED WITH THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF CARE A PRECISION. THIS IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OR THE OWNER OR OPERATOR, IT IS FAULTY EQUIPMENT AND SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF GM. NOW I HAVE A CAR THAT I CANNOT DRIVE, IT HAS TWO BLOWN AIRBAGS. DEFECT. RIGHT PASSENGER AIR BAG SIDE MODULE (FRONT SEAT) WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED AT MY TOTAL COST OF $476.10 ON 4-20-07. THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT ALERTED ME AROUND 4-2-08 THAT THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED (THE REPLACEMENT PART IS DEFECTIVE), AFTER ONLY 5,500 MILES OF VEHICLE USAGE. A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT FOR SOMEWHAT LESS THAN HALF OF THOSE MILES--A DEFECT AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR AND LESS THAN 2,300 MILES OF EQUIVALENT SERVICE. MY 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI HAD JUST OVER 63,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE MAJORITY OF THE DRIVING HAS BEEN ON PAVED ROADS/HIGHWAYS. THE HUB ASSEMBLIES (BOTH SIDES) BEGAN MAKING A NOISE IN MARCH OF 2006. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL CERTIFIED AUTO REPAIR FACILITY AND HAD THEM LOOK AT IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES WERE IN IMMEDIATE NEED OF REPLACEMENT AND THAT THERE WAS A DANGER IN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE WORK DONE ON MARCH 22, 2006. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE THE FAILED PARTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE. I CONTACTED THE BBB WHO, IN TURN, REFERRED ME TO THE GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICE. AFTER CONTACTING THESE PEOPLE THEY FILE A REPORT #1-408898915. THEY INDICATED TO ME THAT GMC WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME DUE TO THE FACTS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT I HAD NOT USED A GMC DEALER FOR THE REPAIR WORK. THE REPAIRS WERE #613.59. THE DEALER WOULD HAVE CHARGED ME APPROXIMATELY $1,000 FOR THIS SAME WORK. THEY DID GIVE ME THE ADDRESS OF THE GMC DIVISIONAL OFFICE IN MICHIGAN AND SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT THEM TO SEE IF THEY WILL DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I WILL DO THIS, BUT I HAVE NOT DONE THIS YET AS I DO NOT ANTICIPATE A POSITIVE RESULT FROM MY EFFORTS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DEFECT OF THE PARTS AND/OR VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME MONDAY MORNING AND SAID THAT THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING HAD GONE BAD. IN MY DISCUSSION WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, HE INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SURBURBANS, ENVOY'S AND YUKONS. THE SEAT BELTS IN MY 2003 YUKON XL DENALI SLOWLY TIGHTEN UP DURING OPERATION. WE NEED TO RELEASE THE BELT AND ALLOW IT TO RETRACT COMPLETLY AND THEN RELATCH IT. GMC HAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM OTHER THAN OFFERING BELT EXTENTIONS.

I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON. AFTER HAVING A DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT BURN OUT, I REMOVED THE LENS AND FOUND SIGNIFICANT CHARRING OF THE LIGHT BULB SOCKET. IT WAS BURNT SO BAD THAT IT MOSTLY CRUMBLED AS I TRIED TO REMOVE THE OLD BULB. I TOOK OFF THE OTHER SIDE TO CHECK IT, AND THE CONDITION OF THE SOCKET WAS THE SAME. THUS, BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SOCKETS WERE BURNT. THE EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM THE BULB ALSO DISTORTED AND RUINED BOTH OF MY LENSES ON THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT THESE CARS HAVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH HEAT ON THESE LIGHT SOCKETS. WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS FLICKER OFF AND ON. THIS CONDITION ONLY OCCURS WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 35 MPH AND WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR MAKING A CURVE. THIS CONDITION IS NOT ONLY DISTRACTING, BUT WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH NO OTHER AMBIENT LIGHT I AM UNABLE TO SEE ADEQUATELY AHEAD OF MY VEHICLE. THE STABILITY CONTROL WARNING HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES ON MY VEHICLE. THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK, AS YOU HAVE TO PUSH ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES TIME BEFORE THE VEHICLE STOPS. I HAVE HAD BRAKE LINES REPAIRS AND THE PROBLEM STILL IS THERE. WE CANNOT USE VEHICLE UNTIL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON. SEVERAL DAYS AGO I WAS GOING TO PUT SOME ITEMS IN THE BACK END. AFTER RAISING THE REAR HATCH GLASS, I HEARD A POPPING NOISE. I COULDN'T TELL WHERE IT CAME FROM AT FIRST, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO SHUT THE REAR GLASS, THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GLASS JUST POPPED UP. MY VEHICLE IS A 2003 MODEL WITH 55,000 MILES. IT IS A SECOND VEHICLE AND STAYS GARAGED MOST OF THE TIME. I HAVE A 1996 TAHOE I USE FOR HAULING AND ODD JOBS. I HAVE PROBABLY OPENED THE REAR GLASS ON THE 2003 YUKON NO MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES IN THE YEARS THAT I HAVE HAD IT I USUALLY OPEN THE ENTIRE HATCH. GM STATES THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A DEFECT AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. UPON CHECKING ON LINE APPARENTLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE REPAIR COSTS APPROXIMATELY $1000.00. I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON XL WHICH BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME AT ~51,280 MILES. THESE ARE SEALED BEARINGS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. 2003 GMC YUKON XL HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING COLUMN SINCE IT WAS NEW. AT APPROX. 4,000 MILES, TOOK TO DEALER FOR THUMPING/POPPING SOUND THAT COULD BE FELT IN STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING, ACCELERATING, STOPPING OR OVER A SPEED BUMP. DEALER PACKED INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WITH GREASE. DID NOT WORK. TOOK BACK TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. NOTHING MORE FELT IN STEERING COLUMN. AT APPROX. 12,500 MILES TOOK YUKON BACK TO DEALER TO REMEDY POPPING NOISE AND UNUSUAL WEAR/FEATHERING ON INSIDE TREAD OF F. TIRES. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE NOISE. SAID ALIGNMENT WAS OFF AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. HAD TO PAY FOR ALIGNMENT/ROTATION. WIFE TOOK VEHICLE BACK WHEN TECH. WAS AVAILABLE TO RIDE ALONG. WIFE WAS ABLE TO GET YUKON TO DUPLICATE NOISE WITH TECH. IN VEHICLE. TSB SAID TO REMOVE BOLTS FROM CROSS MEMBER, BORE BOLT HOLES, LUBRICATE, REPLACE AND TORQUE. DIDN'T GET OFF OF THE LOT BEFORE NOISE RETURNED. NOW AT 25,000 MILES, AFTER MORE UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR AND THE UNRESOLVED POPPING NOISE, TOOK YUKON BACK AT DEALERSHIP. SERVICE MANAGER ORDERED WASHERS AS PER NEW TSB FOR PERMANENT FIX OF POPPING NOISE AND IS EXPERIMENTING WITH ALIGNMENT TOLERANCES. JUST DROVE 10 FEET OUT OF SERVICE AREA PARKING LOT AND POPPING NOISE IS EXACTLY THE SAME. HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK IN ON MONDAY 08/08/05 SO THE SERVICE MANAGER CAN RIDE ALONG TO OBSERVE PROBLEM. TALKED TO A FRONT END SPECIALIST AT WORK AND HE INDICATED THAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEMS WITH OUR 2000 & UP G.M. FLEET VEHICLES.(100+) SAID GM REP CAME TO INSPECT, NOTED THE PROBLEM AND LEFT. ENGINE WENT INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER (REP) MODE AND 4 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING CODES (DTC'S) WERE SET ALL RELATING TO THE THROTTLE ACTIVATION CIRCUIT (TAC). WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ENGINE POWER IS SHUT OFF IMMEDIATELY AND THE ENGINE WILL ONLY IDLE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM AND IS A POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE ENTIRE TAC SYSTEM ( THROTTLE BODY, TAC MODULE, PCM, WIRE HARNESSES/CONNECTORS) NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.

WHILE SITTING IDLE MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER AND PULL OFF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE CAR. 5 MINUTES LATER THE CAR STARTED LIKE THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE REP WARNING WOULD SHOW UP AND MY CAR WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER. I WAS CROSSING THE ROAD DURING ONE INCIDENT. HOWEVER, WHEN I WOULD SHUT OFF THE CAR AND RESTART THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO AWAY AS WOULD THE REP WARNING. AFTER A QUICK REVIEW ONLINE IT IS EASY TO FIND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE A SIMILAR ISSUE. GM WILL ONLY DIAGNOSE AND IF THE LIGHT IS OFF WHEN YOU GET THERE THERE IS NOTHING FOR THEM TO DO EXCEPT TAKE YOUR MONEY AND SAY GOOD LUCK.

DRIVING TO WORK AND "REDUCE ENGINE POWER" CAME ON. ENGINE STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH UPHILL WHEN MY ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON. MY SPEED WAS IMMEDIATELY REDUCED TO ABOUT 35 MPH EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ONGOING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. STARTING IN 2005, THE EXTERIOR ELECTRONICS (I.E. SIGNAL LIGHTS, STOP LIGHTS, HEAD LIGHTS, ETC) BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. FOR EXAMPLE, I WOULD TRIGGER THE SIGNAL FOR ONE DIRECTION AND ALL OF THE SIGNALS FOR ALL DIRECTIONS WOULD TRIGGER... EVEN PRESSING THE BRAKES TRIGGERED ALL OF THE EXTERIOR SIGNALS. THE DEALER HAD A HARD TIME ISOLATING MY PROBLEM, BUT AFTER SEVERAL VISITS, THE DEALER WAS FINALLY ABLE TO DIAGNOSE AND RECTIFY IT... THEY ISOLATED IT TO A JUNCTION BOX WHERE ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS TERMINATE. HOWEVER, BY THIS TIME, MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO I HAD TO COVER THE COSTS FOR REPAIRING THE PROBLEM MYSELF. MY MOST RECENT ISSUES, WHICH, BY THE WAY, SEEM TO BE COMMON ISSUES, ARE TRIGGERED BY A MESSAGE STATING, "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE DOES NOT ALWAYS RENDER THE SAME RESULTS... SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE'S SPEED WILL SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASE TO NEARLY A HALT, BUT OTHER TIMES I MAY JUST EXPERIENCE INCREASED IDLING OF THE ENGINE, EVEN IF I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP. MY UNDERSTANDING, ACCORDING TO HUNDREDS OF REPORTS THAT I HAVE READ ON THE MESSAGE BOARDS, IS THAT THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY EITHER A WIRING HARNESS THAT LEADS FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE THROTTLE BODY OR IT'S A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY ALTOGETHER. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TAIL GATE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO OPEN. THE TAIL GATE AND THE TAIL GATE WINDOW WERE JAMMED SHUT AND WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR LATCHES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE KEYLESS REMOTE ALSO FAILED TO OPEN THE TAIL GATE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED SINCE THERE WAS NO MANUAL RELEASE ON THE TAILGATE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR ANY INCIDENT WHERE PASSENGERS WOULD HAVE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 175,000.

I HAVE TAKEN MY 2003 GMC YUKON XL IN FOR SERVICE ON THE AIR CONDITIONER ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. I RECENTLY MOVED FROM MICHIGAN TO TENNESSEE AND WHILE LIVING IN MICHIGAN I NOTICES A SQUEALING NOISE WHENEVER I TURNED ON MY AC. THE NOISE WOULD LAST A FEW MINUTES AND THEN STOP. I ALSO NOTICED A RATTLING NOISE UPON ACCELERATION WHILE THE AC WAS ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN MICHIGAN AND AT FIRST NOTHING WAS FOUND. I AGAIN TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP IN TENNESSEE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A RECYCLING SWITCH, AND IT WAS REPLACED. NOW, ALMOST I YEAR LATER THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED BUT UNFORTUNATELY, MY VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY (50,000 MILES) AND I AM NOW TOLD THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that upon purchasing the vehicle from a towing company, the vehicle would not start. The battery was instantly replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle would wobble and shut off inadvertently while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the stabilizers and shocks were replaced. The independent mechanic then took the vehicle to an electrical failure specialist where it was diagnosed that the front end of the vehicle was experiencing electrical failures. Additionally, the contact stated that a warning message stating that the air bags were not working was displayed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. Consumer stated in 2016 the odometer was at 175,000 miles per car fax. When consumer bought the vehicle on March 25th 2022 the odometer read 202,575.

THE TRUCK RAN FOR ABOUT A MONTH THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BATTERY WAS BACK DEAD. RETURNED THE TRUCK BACK TO THE SHOP ANOTHER BATTERY WAS PUT IN. IT'S BEEN ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING FROM MIAMI TO JACKSONVILLE AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER 100 MILES OUTSIDE JACKSONVILLE ON I-95 NORTH. IT HAD ALL POWER JUST WOULD NOT CRANK. SPEEDOMETER RANDOMLY STICKS, OR ACCELERATES TO MAXIMUM. OIL PRESSURE GAUGES MAX OUT AS WELL. VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH NO CONCEPT OF SPEED, AND ALSO VERY ILLEGAL. WHEN I STOP THE VEHICLE, I CAN TURN OFF THE ENGINE. IF I CONTINUE TO TURN THE KEY 90% (BUT NOT ENOUGH TO START THE ENGINE), AND LET OFF, THE GAUGES WILL DROP UP TO 5%. AFTER 5 MINUTES OF RESETTING THE INSTRUMENTS, THE GAUGES WILL RESET. HOWEVER, THE NEXT TIME I DRIVE I MIGHT BE GOING THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE AT 40 INSTEAD OF 25, BUT MY SPEEDOMETER SAYS 80. CLEARLY UNSAFE.

FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN ONLINE IT APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR ON THOUSANDS OF OTHER SIMILAR VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ENGINE, CHEVY SUBURBAN'S, SILVERADO'S, TAHOE'S, ETC. I REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND THE HARNESS (BECAUSE I HEARD THE HARNESS MIGHT ALSO BE AN ISSUE) AND I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK. IT HAS DONE IT OVER A DOZEN TIMES ON ONE TRIP BACK FROM WORK (80 MILES FOR ME). I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (IF POSSIBLE) AND TURN OFF THE TRUCK, THEN WAIT A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, THEN TURN THE TRUCK BACK ON. THIS USUALLY FIXES THE ISSUE, BUT IT DID NOT HELP ME WHEN IT HAPPENED TO ME IN THE TUNNEL AND I WAS GOING 5 MPH (TOP SPEED DURING THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MODE, ONCE YOUR DRIFTING STOPS (BECAUSE YOU DRIFT, IT DOESN'T ENGAGE THE BRAKES). I WAS EXTREMELY WORRIED THAT I WOULDN'T MAKE IT OUT OF THE TUNNEL WITHOUT GET REAR ENDED, AND ONCE I MADE IT OUT, I WAS JUST OUTSIDE OF THE TUNNEL AWAITING ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING, WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE CAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL 2500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE, IT ALSO FAILED. WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS (LESS THAN 10 MILES PER HOUR) OR STARTING FROM A STOP, THE TRACTION CONTROL WILL AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGE WHEN THE GAS PEDAL IS APPLIED. WHEN THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGES, A TOTAL LOSS OF INPUT TO THE ENGINE RESULTS AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE (IT ESSENTIALLY STALLS). I WAS ALMOST STRUCK IN AN INTERSECTION WHILE WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN ON A GREEN LIGHT IN EARLY DECEMBER OF 2011. I WAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WAITING TO TURN LEFT. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN LEFT, I GAVE THE GAS PEDAL SOME INPUT, THE TRACTION CONTROL ENGAGED, AND MY VEHICLE STOPPED BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ENGINE INPUT AND WAS ALMOST HIT BY AN ON-COMING CAR. LUCKILY, THIS HAD HAPPENED BEFORE AND I KNEW TO EITHER FLOOR THE GAS PEDAL OR TO LET OFF THE GAS ENTIRELY AND THEN FLOOR IT AGAIN TO GET THE TRACTION CONTROL TO DISENGAGE AND GET POWER TO THE ENGINE. ANOTHER RELATED ISSUE IS THE ABS ENGAGING FOR NO REASON. THIS ALSO HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS (LESS THAN 10 MPH). WHEN THE ABS ENGAGES, THE VEHICLE WILL TRAVEL ANOTHER TWO TO THREE FEET PRIOR TO STOPPING. THE ABS ISSUE RESULTED IN MY HITTING A POLE IN A PARKING LOT. IT TOOK SEVERAL YEARS TO FINALLY DETERMINE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND IT TURNS OUT IT WAS A RESULT OF FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CORROSION AND AN INCREASED AIR GAP BETWEEN THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND THE RELUCTOR RING DUE TO RUST AND DEBRIS BUILT UP ON THE SENSOR MOUNTING SURFACE. GM ACKNOWLEDGED THIS WITH A SAFETY RECALL (#05068C: PRODUCT SAFETY) FOR SOME VEHICLE MODEL YEARS 1999-2002. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND GM FAILS TO RECOGNIZE THAT VEHICLES LIKE MINE (A 2003) AND EVEN LATER MODELS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. SINCE NOVEMBER 2008, MY 2003 GMC YUKON XL 2500 HAS HAD EPISODES WHERE THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ENGINE GOES INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. IN THIS REDUCED POWER MODE, THE VEHICLE WILL REACH A TOP SPEED OF AROUND 25MPH. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO NUMEROUS GM DEALERS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLE AND WIRING HARNESS MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE PROBLEM KEEPS RECURRING. I HAVE BOUGHT A SCANNER WHICH I CAN ERASE THE CODES BECAUSE IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING 65MPH WITH SEMITRUCKS ON YOUR TAIL WHEN YOU SUDDENLY FOR NO REASON LOSE POWER AND CAN'T GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CLOSE EPISODES WHERE WE WERE ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT. AFTER THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED IN DEC 08, THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER DIDN'T COME BACK UNTIL APRIL 2009. DEALER THEN REWIRED THE HARNESS AND IT STOPPED UNTIL THE FALL OF 2009. SINCE FALL 2009, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED POWER MODE COME ON SPORADICALLY. IN FEBRUARY 2010, THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED, BUT NOW THE TRUCK STALLS WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER IS ENABLED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AS DURING THE STALL, ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKING IS LOST. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, TURNING, CROSSING TRAFFIC, AND THE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE TRUCK STALLS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE GM DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT FOR THE LAST 3 WEEKS. EVERYTIME THEY SAY IT HAS TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY, THEY REPLACE IT, I BRING IT HOME AND A COUPLE DAYS LATER WE ARE BACK TO REDUCED ENGINE POWER WITH SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS. TROUBLE CODES ARE P2135, P0120, P1515, AND P0220. I HAVE SPENT NEARLY $2000 ON SERVICE THAT HAS NOT RESOLVED THIS PROBLEM AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. MY VEHICLE IS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT REGISTERING, AND WHEN (THE GAUGE) IS TRYING TO OPERATE, THE VEHICLE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATING AND THE GAUGE DOES THE SAME AS WELL AS THE GAS GAUGE. I KNOW ALL MY DASHBOARD GAUGES NEED TO BE CHECKED FOR MALFUNCTION. THIS BEGAN TWO WEEKS AGO, I CALLED DOUG HENRY OF FARMVILLE TO CHECK MY VEHICLE FOR RECALLS, ONLY TO FIND OUT IT IS NOT LISTED. MY HUSBAND HAS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL, HE RECEIVED A LETTER DESCRIBING THIS PROBLEM AND GOT INFORMATION TO GET IT FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EVERYTIME HE ACTIVATED HIS LEFT TURN SIGNAL, THE HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE. SECONDLY, THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL WERE INOPERATIVE. THIRDLY, THE BATTERY CONSTANTLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. LASTLY, WHEN SWITCHING GEARS ON THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND A TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TWICE, AND THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL AS WELL. EVEN AFTER ALL OF THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, THE ELECTRICAL FAILURES STILL PERSIST. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,400.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN. AFTER 20 FEET, THE VEHICLE STOPPED. SHE PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER, AND WAITED APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC, BUT NO FAILURE COULD BE IDENTIFIED. THIS WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THIS FAILURE. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, MIDAS CHECKED THE BRAKES, BUT ALSO COULD NOT IDENTIFY A FAILURE. THERE IS A RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE SHE IS EXPERIENCING. HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM. VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY WITHOUT USE FOR A FEW WEEKS. WHEN USED BRAKES WERE VERY SPONGY, LONG PEDAL TRAVEL BEFORE REACTION THEN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. FLUID LEVEL OK, CLEAR APPEARED NORMAL, NO APPARENT LEAKS, NORMAL TEMPERATURE. DROVE TO DEALER CAREFULLY, SERVICE MANAGER WHEN MOVING VEHICLE SAID HE ALMOST RAN THROUGH THE BACK OTF THE BUILDING. VEHICLE NOT IN ANY ACCIDENTS, SERVICE MAINTENANCE CONDUCTED AT NORMAL INTERVALS ACCORDING TO SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS. APPROXIMATELY 27000 MILES ON VEHICLE. DRIVEN BY MYSELF 50 YEARS OLD AND MY WIFE 47 YEARS OLD SAFE DRIVERS SPEED LIMIT SPEEDS LARGE AMOUNT OF STOPPING DISTANCE FOR BRAKING NOT JAMMING ON BRAKES AT LAST MINUTE. I SCHEDULED VEHICLE FOR SERVICE AT WIN KELLY CHEVROLET WHERE PURCHASED FOR BRAKE CHECK AND 30,000 MILE CHECKUP. WHILE THERE THEY ADVISED IT WAS INTERIOR FAILURE OF MASTER CYLINDER AND THEY REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. THE BRAKES FEEL A LITTLE BETTER BUT THE PEDAL STILL MOVES APPROXIMATELY 4" BEFORE APPLYING ANY PRESSURE. I FEEL THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM AND WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM LIKE THEY HAD ON PREVIOUS S10 MODELS IN LATE 90'S WITH THE SLOW SPEED BRAKING RECALL. JUST WANT TO SEND A COMPLAINT FOR YOU TO BE AWARE OF IN CASE YOU RECEIVE MORE COMPLAINTS. I EMAILED A LETTER TO GM WHILE IT WAS IN THE SHOP WITH THE SAME COMMENTS AND THE REFERENCE TO THE PREVIOUS FOR THE SMALLER VERSIONS IN THE LATE 90'S AND HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A SQUEALING NOISE THAT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. DURING A NORMAL MAINTENANCE SERVICE, THE SERVICE DEALER DETERMINED THE SQUEALING NOISE WAS NORMAL. ON APRIL 4, AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE WITH THE DEALER REGARDING THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE VENT SOLENOID HAD FAILED INTERNALLY AND THE VENT SOLENOID AND BRACKET PARTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT UNTIL WORK COULD BE PERFORMED THE CAR WAS DRIVEABLE. ON APRIL 5TH, THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON WET ROADS, THE BRAKES FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MANUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE HIT A POLE AND SLIDE INTO A DITCH. DURING THE ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALL OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEATBELTS HOWEVER INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE CONTACTS HAD LOWER BACK INJURIES. AN MRI WAS PERFORMED SHOWING A DISLOCATED DISK TO THE LOWER BACK. OTHER INJURIES OCCURRED TO TWO OTHER PASSANGERS AGES 12 AND 7; MINOR HEAD INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND ACCIDENT REPORT WAS PROCESSED WITH THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS. ADDITIONAL REPAIRS STILL NEED TO BE MADE TO BRAKES AND AIRBAGS.

I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2003 GMC YUKON. IT STARTED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2004 WITH MY REAR AIR NOT WORKING, IT WAS INOPERABLE; AND, A POPPING NOISE IN MY STEERING, THE STEERING FELT LOOSE. THE REAR AIR WAS TEMPORARILY FIXED IN OCTOBER OF 2004 BUT CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM NOW IN SEPTEMBER OF 2005, ONE YEAR LATER. I'VE NEVER REALLY HAD REAR AIR SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, IT WORKS OCCASIONALLY. I STILL HAVE NO REAR AIR AND VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 7 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT TOOK UNTIL JANUARY OF 2005 TO FIX THE STEERING PROBLEM. I'VE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY SPEEDOMETER, WHICH QUIT WORKING IN DECEMBER OF 2004 AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND I HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN AND LEAVE FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO SEND THE SPEEDOMETER TO CALIFORNIA FOR REPROGRAMMING, THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN JANUARY OF 2005. *NM
