LOST BRAKES COMPLETELY. THE WAS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN THE CLUSTER OF BRAKE LINES IN FRONT OF ABS MODULE DUE TO RUST WHICH LEFT A PUDDLE CONTAINING ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID ON THE GROUND. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE WAS IN A CHURCH PARKING LOT WHEN IT HAPPENED AND A SUDDEN STOP WAS NOT NEEDED FROM A HIGHER SPEED. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN BAD IF THAT WERE THE CASE. TOO BAD GM DID TO SPEND A FEW EXTRA DOLLARS ON RUST-PROOF BRAKE LINES GIVEN HOW EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS THEY ARE.

THE 2005 YUKON BRAKE LINES HAVE RUSTED THROUGH, AND WHILE DRIVING OF ALL PLACES TO THE INSPECTION STATION IN UPSTATE NY. WHILE IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIR, IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ALUMINUM ANTILOCK DISTRIBUTION BOX HAS MAJOR CORROSION AS WELL. IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

MY WIFE, WITH THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR, ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROX. 35 MPH AND THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED. AFTER GOING THROUGH ONE ADDITIONAL STOP SIGN AND RED TRAFFIC LIGHT, SHE WAS ABLE TO SAFELY BRING THE CAR TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER. UPON INVESTIGATION IT WAS FOUND THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AND RUPTURED. WE ARE LUCKY THAT THEY ARE ALIVE. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND POTENTIAL SEVERITY OF THIS TYPE OF BRAKE FAILURE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL OF THESE CLEARLY DEFECTIVE BRAKE LINES.

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that after his wife turned off the vehicle, the blower motor control module continued to operate and would not shut off as needed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle back home and had a mechanically inclined friend to disconnect the blower motor wiring harness. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where he was provided an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

SUGGESTED TAKING IT TO LOCAL GMC DEALER TO RUN CODES AT MY EXPENSE. AND THEN, POSSIBLY, DEPENDING ON RESULTS/DIAGNOSIS, GMC "MAY" BE ABLE TO OFFER MONETARY ASSISTANCE FOR REPAIRS. MY 2005 YUKON 4WD WENT OUT. IT STARTED AS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SINCE IT WAS NOT CURRENTLY HAVING PROBLEMS THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE. THIS TIME IT WAS OUT FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE I FINALLY TOOK IT IN. ALTHOUGH NOTHING EXTREME HAPPENED, SINCE I WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT IF SOMEONE WAS NOT AWARE OF THE ISSUE THEY COULD POTENTIALLY LOSE CONTROL OF THERE VEHICLE SINCE THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM IS ALSO DISABLED IN THIS PROBLEM. REPLACED THE 4WD ACTUATOR TOTAL BILL 762.00 WAS ALSO TOLD IT COULD POTENTIALLY SHORT OUT THE BRAIN BOX FOR THE 4WD OPERATING SYSTEM. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT WAS WHEN THE WEATHER WAS COLD, NEVER HAD AN ISSUE ALL SUMMER UNTIL NOW, WHEN THE WEATHER TURNED COLD. FAILURE OF REAR WINDOW HINGE IN GMC 2005 YUKON. HINGE AND GLASS SEPARATE, WINDOW IS LOOSE; CAN BE PULLED OFF DUE TO SUCTION FROM OTHER VEHICLES OR THE WIND. CONTACTED GMC, CUSTOMER SERVICE REP, CHRISTIAN, SAID NOT COVERED DUE TO WARRANTY EXPIRED ON VEHICLE, NO RECALL IN EFFECT. I EXPLAINED THERE ARE SEVERAL POSTS ALL WITH THE SAME ISSUE REGARDING THE REAR HINGE FAILING. HE OFFERED TO PROVIDE A SERVICE PROVIDER, BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE EXPENSE OF REPLACING THE ENTIRE BACK GLASS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM TO GMC, SOME POSTS INDICATED COVERED BY DEALERS, OTHERS WERE NOT. ONE LISTING OF BACK GLASS FALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING. THIS OCCURRED WHEN WE OPENED THE BACK GLASS TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS GARAGED AT HOME, AND WHILE AT WORK. REAR WINDOW IS RARELY OPENED. I HAD DRIVEN MY YUKON FOR ROUGHLY A YEAR WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR GLASS HINGE BROKE. IT CAUSED A LEAK AND I HAVE BEEN IN FEAR OF THE BACK GLASS COMING LOOSE OR BREAKING DURING DRIVING. MY RESEARCH HAS LED ME TO SEVERAL STORIES OF THE SAME PROBLEM LEAVING GLASS ON ROADS, CARWASHES, AND EVEN ON FOLLOWING VEHICLES, CAUSING DAMAGE. GM EXPECTS ME TO PAY OVER $1000 TO REPLACE THE GLASS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR HATCH LOCK MALFUNCTIONED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE UNLOCKED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE LOCK ACTUATOR MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT HAVE THE LOCK ACTUATOR REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

I RENTED A 2005 GMC YUKON FROM ENTERPRISE AT THE SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA. AIRPORT LOCATION. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON HIGHWAY 101 NORTHBOUND OVER CUESTA GRADE ON THE DECENT OF THE NORTH SIDE OF THE GRADE THE HOOD POPPED OPEN, FORTUNATELY THE ADDITIONAL LATCH CAUGHT THE HOOD THUS PREVENTING THE HOOD FROM FLYING BACK AND SMASHING THE WINDSHIELD. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC AT THAT MOMENT AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND SECURE THE HOOD. I DETERMINED THAT THE HOOD RELEASE LEVER LOCATED NEAR THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DRIVERS AREA HAS VERY LITTLE RESISTANCE AND IS FAR TO EASY TO RELEASE. I HAD BEEN LISTENING TO THE RADIO, TAPPING MY LEFT FOOT AROUND AND WITHOUT KNOWING IT I HAD CAUGHT THE HOOD RELEASE WITH MY FOOT AND POPPED THE HOOD OPEN. I FEEL THAT AN AFTER MARKET REPAIR COULD BE MADE BY CREATING A ATTACHABLE FLAP STYLE DOOR THAT WOULD COVER THE RELEASE LATCH UNTIL IT WAS ACTUALLY NEEDED. I ALLERTED THE RENTAL AGENCY OF THE DEFECT AND ADVISED THEM NOT TO RENT THAT VEHICLE OUT UNTIL A CORRECTION TO THAT DEFECT HAD BEEN COMPLETED. WE HAD OUR BRAND NEW 2005 YUKON SLT FOR 1 WEEK AND IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 226 MILES ON IT, WHEN THE "STABILITRAK" ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOCK UP. I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON MY NORMAL ROUTE, A FAIRLY STRAIGHT ROUTE, WHEN THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE, BECAME IMPOSSIBLE TO MANEUVER, AND TOTALLY LOCKED UP. HAD I BEEN DRIVING FASTER, I AM CONFIDENT THAT WE COULD HAVE ROLLED OR BEEN IN AN AWFUL ACCIDENT. THE "SERVICE STABILITY" LIGHT WAS ON. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE CAUSE OF MALFUNCTION. WE GOT THIS VEHICLE AFTER OUR 1ST YUKON LOCKED UP APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH EARLIER. WE HAD JUST LEFT OUR HOME AND WERE ON THE STREET WE LIVE ON DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, WHEN WE FELT SOMETHING WEIRD, HEARD A GRINDING NOISE, AND THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP. THE "SERVICE STABILITY" LIGHT WAS ON. THE IS EXACTLY THE SAME SCENARIO THAT HAPPENED ON OUR OTHER 2005 YUKON. THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES PRESENT IN THE COMPUTER, OR ANY ROUTE CAUSE. WE FEEL VERY UNCERTAIN OF THE "STABILITRAK" SYSTEM AND FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY REVIEW. HAD THIS HAPPENED AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH OR FASTER, WE COULD BE INJURED OR DEAD. THERE MUST BE OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS MALFUNCTION. THROUGH RESEARCH, WE FOUND THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED SEVERAL MONTHS APART AND AT DIFFERENT MANUFACTURING FACILITY THAN THE FIRST YUKON. The third row seat attachment from the seat to the frame has broken. It is a hook type mechanism that holds the entire row of seats to the latch in the floorboard. This car was not in an accident and the seats broke when the vehicle stopped. There should be a recall. Also the back seatbelt was on a recall for this vehicle but doesn't show up anymore. The contact owned a 2005 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at 80 MPH in an interstate with her in the passenger seat and her two children in the rear seats, the steering wheel seized inadvertently and the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle veered off to the left side of the road. The contact stated as her husband was trying to regain control of the vehicle, the tires hit the pavement and the vehicle rolled over 7 times in a ditch, within 180 yards and landed on its passenger side. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact and her husband noticed that the children were no longer in the vehicle and they immediately exited the vehicle through the front driver's side window to search for them. The contact stated that her 12 year old daughter who was sitting in the rear passenger side seat of the second row with a seat belt, was ejected through an unknown window and landed in a bush, 80 yards away from where the vehicle had landed. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 05V163000 (Seat Belts). The contact's 20 year old son who was sitting in the rear driver seat of the second row with no seat belt, was ejected through an unknown window and landed 50 yards away from where the vehicle had landed. The contact and her family were transported to the hospital with the assistance of emergency units. The contact's son sustained a concussion, swollen knee injury, laceration on the head with 18 staples in the back of his head, 3-4 stiches on his thump and lacerations all over his body. The contact's daughter, who had been airlifted from the first hospital to a second hospital, sustained fractured skull, epidural hematoma, 2 internal brain hemorrhages, an unknown fractured part of the body, 2 dislocated primary teeth , deep laceration on her left hand that required 10 stiches and could lead to permanent nerve damage, deep laceration on her torso that required 8-10 staples. The contact's husband sustained a dislocated right elbow, laceration on face, arms and other parts of the body and a severe concussion. The contact sustained a severe concussion, significant bruising on the right side of the body, an hemangioma and CT scan showed lesions on her liver. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot where it was totaled. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the police officer and the towing company advised that the accident may have been caused by damaged rear shocks. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 270,000

INTERNET DISCLOSES MANY OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME PROBLEM NOT INCLUDE IN PREVIOUS RECALL. A EXPANDED RECALL NEEDS TO BE MADE TO INCLUDE ANY VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS KNOWN ISSUE. THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED UNDER VEHICLE AND LOWERED FROM BENEATH THE VEHICLE BY A CRANKING A CABLE. IT ALSO HAS A SECONDARY LATCH TO KEEP IT FROM FALLING ON ROAD IF THAT CABLE SHOULD FAIL. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE LATCH IS DESIGNED VERY POORLY AND QUITE SUSCEPTIBLE TO RUSTING FROM ROAD SALT. THIS PREVENTS IT FROM RELEASING THE SPARE TIRE FROM THE VEHICLE. THE REASON THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT THE SPARE TIRE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO USE WITHOUT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE ON EXACTLY HOW TO RELEASE A FROZEN SAFETY LATCH. TRACTION ACTIVATION ENGAGES FOR NO REASON USUALLY WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND VEHICLE REACHES APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH. THE GAS PEDAL LOCKS UP BRIEFLY AND ENGINE APPEARS TO WANT TO DIE, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE ACTIVATION LIGHT GOES BACK OUT AND TRUCK IF FINE. IF I DRIVE AN HOUR THIS PROBLEM OCCURS 3 TIMES. MY MECHANIC ADVISED NO RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM FROM GMC. THE CAR WAS CHECKED TWICE WITHIN A WEEK AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON, BUT WHEN TESTED WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING EQUIPMENT I WAS ADVISED IT'S A CENSOR PROBLEM, BUT THE DENALI HAS 4 CENSORS AND THE TESTS CAN'T DETECT WHICH CENSOR IS BAD UNTIL IT GOES OUT COMPLETELY. I WILL CONTACT MY LOCAL GMC DEALER BUT, FROM CHECKING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM PERSONS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT BEING TAKEN FOR A RIDE. 2005 FAULTY GMC YUKON DASH SYSTEM. DEALER ORIGINALLY TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP BUT SUGGESTED IT MIGHT BE ALCOHOL IN THE GASOLINE. I TRIED USING ETHANOL FREE GAS AND IT WORKED. I COULDN'T FIND ANY ETHANOL FREE GAS ON DEC 25TH SO I HAD TO USE 10% ETHANOL AND MY ENTIRE DASH HAS QUIT WORKING. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE PLACED INTO REVERSE GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR AWHILE BEFORE IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE AT THE DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSTIC TESTS WERE PERFORMED. THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE REVERSE INPUT PISTON SEAL. IT WAS CUT AND NOT HOLDING PROPER PRESSURE. THE SEAL WAS REPLACED HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM AFTER REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO 2 OTHER DEALERSHIPS WHERE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS WERE PERFORMED. THE DEALERSHIPS ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
