WE OWN A 2010 YUKON AND HAVE A CRACKED DASH BOARD, THIS LOOKS TO BE THE RESULT OF POOR DESIGN AND CHEEP PLASTIC. I SEE THAT 1000 OF OTHER GM/CHEVY OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE THE DEALERSHIP WOULD LOVE TO FIX THIS AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE $2,000. YOU WOULD THINK THAT AFTER YOU PAY CLOSE TO $50,000 THAT GM WOULD CONSIDER THIS AN IMPORTANT CUSTOMER RELATION ISSUE. ALSO NOT TO MENTION THE SAFETY HAZARD THIS POSES.

The open recall on this vehicle cannot be complete without the customer being fully responsible for damage that might be caused during the recall repair. GM is advising all dealerships to force customers to sign a waiver if they have the recall work performed releasing GM and the dealer from all responsibility of any damage done to the dashboard. If the dashboard is damaged and has to be replaced then the customer is faced with a more than $1000 repair job therefore the customer must choose between feeding and caring for their family or risking the passenger being seriously injured or killed due to the faulty airbag issue. GM should stand behind the decision they made to use cheap plastic for their dashboards on this vehicle instead of punishing their customers and costing them more money or risking injury or death to passengers.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 GMC Yukon. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21V054000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall was unavailable. The contact called the local dealer who stated the parts were not available. The contact stated the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure. The VIN was invalid.

WE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE SAYING THE PROPELLANT IN THIS INFLATOR MAY DEGRADE AFTER LONG-TERM EXPOSURE TO HIGH HUMIDITY AND TEMPERATURE CYCLING, WHICH COULD CAUSE THE INFLATOR TO EXPLODE DURING A DEPLOYMENT. AN INFLATOR RUPTURE MAY CAUSE METAL FRAGMENTS TO PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG AND INTO THE VEHICLE INTERIOR AT HIGH SPEED, WHCIH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO PASSENGERS. WHEN WE CALLED THE GMC DEALER TO GET THIS FIXED, THEY SAID THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS OUR FAMILY VEHICLE FOR MY HUSBAND, MYSELF AND OUR 6 CHILDREN THAT WE RIDE IN TOGETHER EACH DAY. The top of the dashboard instrument panel keeps cracking in several places despite trying to prevent any or further cracks. It is very visible and it is now cracking towards the steering wheel and the cover to the passenger air bag area. concerned that because it is in close range to passenger airbag component area as well as the steering column area that eventually there will some malfunction in either components.

Cracked Dash - multiple cracks around the airbag module, made worse by airbag module replacement. Scared that if the air bags ever go off, the dash will shatter, throwing shrapnel all over the occupants.

SINCE 2016 THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE DASH CRACKING, RECENTLY THIS ISSUE HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. THE DASH IS LITERALLY ABOUT TO FALL IN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MOSTLY DURING TIMES IT WAS SITTING ALTHOUGH DRIVING HAS DEFINITELY MADE IT MUCH WORSE. I'M CONCERNED THAT IF THE AIRBAG DOES HAPPEN TO GO OFF IT'S GOING TO THROW SHARP PIECES OF PLASTIC FLYING THROUGHOUT THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. ANOTHER ISSUE I HAVE FOUND IS IF I SET ANY PAPERS ON THE DASH THEY FALL INTO THE DASH. I CAN NOW SEE THE WIRING INSIDE THE DASH BECAUSE OF THE MISSING PIECES. ON TOP OF THIS YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL TOUCHING THE DASH AS I HAVE BEEN CUT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS FROM THE SHARP EDGES CREATED BY THIS ISSUE. THE CENTER OF THE DASH APPEARS TO BE ON BORROWED TIME IT HAS SUNKEN NEARLY A HALF AN INCH WITHIN THE LAST MONTH. I BOUGHT MY 2010 YUKON DENALI USED FROM A LOCAL USED CAR DEALERSHIP IN BIRMINGHAM, AL. WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE DASH LOOKED TO BE FINE. EARLY IN THE SUMMER I BEGAN TO HAVE CRACKING RIGHT ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND QUICKLY SOON AFTER NOTICED A LOT OF CRACKING AROUND THE AIRBAGS. THIS MAKES ME VERY NERVOUS IF I WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT; WHAT WOULD HAPPEN WITH THE DASH PIECES? THEY WOULD BECOME PROJECTILES. AFTER RESEARCHING THE INTERNET IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THIS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SEVERAL OF THE GMC FAMILY OF SUVS FOR ABOUT A 5 YEAR PERIOD. GM HAS EVEN CHANGED THE DESIGN OF THE REPLACEMENTS DUE TO THE CHEAP WORKMANSHIP OF THE ORIGINAL PRODUCT. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AS A SAFETY HAZARD.

The contact owns a 2010 GMC Yukon. The contact stated the front driver’s side dashboard was fractured. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V050000 (Air Bags) and took the vehicle to a local dealer to be repaired. The dealer declined to service the vehicle under recall due to the dashboard being fractured. The dealer and manufacturer informed the contact that the recall repair would be performed once the dashboard was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Valve spring snapped clear in half inside the engine while driving on the highway. This caused me to be stranded on the side of the road in the middle of the Arizona desert with my two dogs in the heat. Thankfully I did not lose control of the vehicle. No warning signs whatsoever until out of nowhere- vehicle check engine light started flashing as well as 'service stabiltrak' and 'traction control disabled'. I immediately pulled over. Thankfully I shut off the engine in time to prevent further damage to the pistons. Vehicle was towed and inspected by Holden's Auto Service in Kingman, AZ. Valve spring broke clean in half and was given to me after valve spring was replaced. Compression tests were performed after valve spring replacement. engine was run until warm and normal compression resumed. No other mechanical issues found. Checked for recalls on this vehicle. nothing found related to this.

TRUCK STARTED MAKING METAL ON METAL SOUND. ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED AND ANTI-FREEZE WAS BLEEDING INTO OIL. MECHANIC AND DEALERSHIP AGREED NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED. COST - $8,000. TRUCK HAD 103,000 MILES - WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 100,000. WE HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING OIL PROBLEMS SINCE NOV. 2014 WHEN WE WERE STILL UNDER WARRANTY- OIL WAS GUNKY DESPITE BEING CHANGED EACH TIME. DEALERSHIP CALLED GMC AND GMC REFUSED TO BUDGE ON THE WARRANTY. I CALLED GM 5 TIMES - INITIALLY SPOKE TO SOMEONE WHO SAID "THEY WOULD WORK WITH ME" AND KICKED IT UP T O A SENIOR ADVISOR NAMED [XXX] WHO NEVER RETURNED ANY OF MY CALLS DESPITE OTHER GMC EMPLOYEES SENDING HER "URGENT" EMAILS TO CALL ME. LIMPED BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY WITH A SHAKING TRUCK WITH HAZARDS ON AND MADE IT TO AN EXIT . WENT TO GAS STATION, TURNED OFF CAR AGAIN AND FILLED WITH GAS. CAR WAS OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES WHILE I ASK FOR A GM DEALERSHIP IN TOWN. TURNED CAR ON AND THE SHAKING HAD STOPPED AND THE POWER APPEARED TO BE NORMAL. WENT TO GM. THEY HOOKED UP TO DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE . THE CODE THAT CAME UP WAS FOR A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT. WAS COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT, (12-6-2013) SENT OUT TO DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS. GM KNOWS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM YET NO ONE INFORMED THE DRIVERS OF THESE VEHICLES. MY YUKON DENALI XL WAS FIXED . I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I WAS PUT IN A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIGH SPEEDS. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT WITHOUT SOME GOOD DRIVING ON MY PART AND THAT OF THE 18 WHEELERS AROUND ME I COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND INJURY. ONCE AGAIN GM KNOWS THIS IS A PROBLEM AS STATED IN THE #11273B SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT- THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT-DECEMBER 16,2013. I experienced hybrid battery module catching fire till was water thrown on it unknown raison after i planned to buy used battery from other junkyard truck and before replacing wanted to check everything okay i notice that there black mark caused by short circuit on the same place but everything was looking good from out till i unplugged the module wire for clean up i saw the burn so my conclusion was that there is issue with hybrid module that can cause fire and much more, i have pictures to show.

OVER A MONTH AGO I NOTICED A HUGE CRACK ABOVE STEERING COLUMN, THE RAISED PART. KNOWING IT WAS NOT A USER ERROR, I WAS PLANNING ON CONTACTING GMC. LAST WEEK I NOTICED ANOTHER CRACK ON LEFT SIDE OF AIR BAG. I DECIDED TO LOOK ONLINE AND SEE IF THIS HAPPENED TO OTHERS. AND YES IT HAS. THERE ARE SEVERAL YEARS AFFECTED, 1993, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF GMC OWNERS WHO HAVE CONTACTED GMC AS I HAVE JUST DONE, WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND I'M VERY VERY UPSET, FRUSTRATED AND DISAPPOINTED IN GMC. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET TO GET THIS FIXED AS IT IS GMC'S RESPONSIBILITY! ON A SNOW AND ICE COVERED HIGHWAY WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, I SUDDENLY GOT A "REDUCING ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE ON THE DISPLAY FOLLOWED BY A "SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM" MESSAGE. AS MY VEHICLE QUICKLY LOST POWER, TO INCLUDE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES, I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. AFTER GETTING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF THEN ON AGAIN, I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ANOTHER 2 MILES; THEN THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AND AGAIN A THIRD TIME BEFORE GETTING TO THE DEALER. I HAVE READ REPORTS FROM OTHER GMC YUKON DRIVERS AS FAR BACK AS 2001 WHO HAVE REPORTED THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM. A LARGE CRACK APPEARED ON THE DASH HUMP BEHIND THE STEERING WHEEL AND GREW LARGER LEAVING A HOLE EXPOSING THE STEERING COLUMN ELECTRICAL WIRES. ANOTHER CRACK DEVELOPED ON THE DASH BESIDE THE UPPER LEFT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. I AM CONCERNED WITH BOTH ELECTRONICS BEING EXPOSED AND JAGGED EDGES BESIDE THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AREA, THE AIRBAGS MAY FAIL IN A CRASH. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT STEERING COULD EVENTUALLY BECOME IMPACTED. I HAVE A 2010 YUKON DENALI WITH NOW, 42000 MILES THIS HAPPENED IN 2014 WITH ABOUT 39000 MILES--- I DONT DRIVE BUT 5000 MILES A YEAR AND MY VEHICLE IS KEPT MOSTLY IN THE GARAGE AND IS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I NOTICED ONE CRACK NEAR FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG- THEN A FEW MONTHS LATER A NEWER, LARGER CRACK BEGAN FORMING NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE DASHBOARD OVER THE SPEDOMETER. I HAVE THE GMPP PLAN WHICH IS GM'S HIGHEST EXTENDED WARRANTY AND COST ABOUT $2500. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY DASHBOARD ISNT COVERED UNDER MY GMPP WARRANTY BECUASE THE DASH IS CONSIDERED "TRIM" IVE CONTACTED GM NUMEROUS TIMES HOPING TO GET A MORE WORKABLE CSR TO ASSIST IN MONETARY ASSISTANCE WITH GETTING THE DASHBOARD REPLACED--- I RECEIVE LITTLE TO NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AFTER TWO FAILED ATTEMPTS. THIS ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD WITH THESE GM VEHCILES AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY GM -- THEY KNOW ABOUT THEIR SHORTCOMINGS AND WE, AS A CLASS ACTION ARE LIMITED BY OUR OPTIONS AS WE SLOWLY WORK UP TO CLASS ACTION STATUS. I WOULD LIKE A FULL INVESTIGATION ON THESE CRACKED DASHBOARDS- BOTH WHY THEY CRACKED AND IF THEY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND NEVER TRIED TO FIX THEM AFTER THE FACT OF KNOWING [XXX] ADAM PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).*CC

I GOT IN MY CAR TO TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND NOTICE THE HUB ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS CRACKED GOING DOWN AND CONNECTED TO A SECOND SPOT THAT WAS ALSO CRACKED IN A PRONG PATTERN. IT WAS NOT CRACKED THE AFTERNOON BEFORE WHEN I PICKED UP MY CHILDREN FROM SCHOOL. *TR

WE HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE SEPT. 2013. ON MORE THAN 15 OCCASIONS IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE THE NEXT GEAR. WHEN IT MISSES THE NEXT GEAR WHILE DRIVING THE RPMS SHOOT WAY UP, NOSE OF THE CAR DIPS, WE DECELERATE OR COAST, AND OCCUPANTS GET JERKED AND THRUSTED FORWARD TRIGGERING THE SEATBELT TO HARNESS YOU IN PLACE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MOST OF THE OCCASIONS. AT TIMES WHEN I AM PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT IN REVERSE THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE. NORMALLY WHEN VEHICLES ARE PUT INTO GEAR YOU CAN FEEL THE CAR IT, NOT ON THESE INSTANCES. I WOULD SHIFT THE CAR IN GEAR BUT NOT FEEL IT ACTUALLY GET INTO GEAR, PRESS THE PEDAL AND WATCH/FEEL THE RPMS INCREASE, AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOTHING - STAYS IN THE SAME PLACE. ACCELERATING ON A GREEN-LIGHT IS ANOTHER SITUATION WHERE THE VEHICLE HAS MISSED THE NEXT GEAR. SIMILAR TO THE DRIVING DESCRIPTION ABOVE, ONLY THIS IS FROM A DEAD STOP. THE CAR WILL MOVE FORWARD THEN TRY TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR AND MISS. AGAIN THE NOSE DIVES, RPM'S SHOOT WAY UP, WE ARE JOLTED INTO OUR SEATBELTS. I GUESS THAT IT'S THE TRANSMISSION BUT I AM NOT A CAR GUY AT ALL, SUPPOSEDLY THE 2 DEALERSHIPS (EVEN LONGER STORY) THAT I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO REBUILT IT (TWICE) UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR LONG PERIODS, WEEKS EACH TIME, DUE TO WHATEVER THE ISSUE IS. EACH TIME THEY SAY THEY HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM AND THAT THEY ARE SORRY THAT THEY DIDN'T FIX IT THE PREVIOUS TIME. IT HAD BEEN A MONTHS SINCE IT HAPPENED LAST, UNTIL 2 WEEKS AGO WHILE ON MY WAY TO WORK DOING ABOUT 10MPH EXITING A ROUND-A-BOUT. I ONLY HEARD ABOUT THIS SITE TODAY (3/19/15) ON THE NEWS SO I AM REPORTING AS SOON AS I HEARD. I DID GET VIDEO OF SOME OF THE PROBLEMS AND SHOWED IT THE DEALERS (UNIMPRESSED), ONLY PROBLEM IS THEY COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO MISS GEARS, JERK, JOLT, OR NOSE DIVE WHILE IN THEIR POSSESSION TO EXPERIENCE IT HAPPEN. *TR

DRIVING 40MPH IN TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE TURNED OFF BY ITSELF, NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES AT THIS POINT, I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC AND PUT MY HAZARDS ON WHILE I TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE WAS ACTING AS IF IT WAS STILL ON AND WOULD NOT RESTART, I STILL HAD POWER TO EVERYTHING AND THE DASHBOARD WAS DISPLAYING SEVERAL ERROR MESSAGES. STABILITRACK, TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE REDUCED POWER AND ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE OFF, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR 2 DAYS. THIS SAME EXACT OCCURRENCE HAS OCCURRED AGAIN THIS TIME ON 4/27. IT ALSO HAPPENED WHILE PARKED ON 3/1 WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. I AM HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED AT A GMC DEALERSHIP IN CARROLLTON TEXAS TODAY. *TR

THIRD PARTY POWER WINDOW INJURY. I PUT THE BACK SEAT WINDOW UP FROM THE FRONT SEAT AND CRUSHED MY 7 YEAR OLD CHILD'S FINGER IN THE WINDOW CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY TO HER FINGER. SHE REQUIRED 8 STITCHES TO REPAIR THE TIP OF HER FINGER WHICH HAD BASICALLY BLOWN OPEN. *TR
