The dashboard is cracking on both sides with one crack leading to the air bag. This creates a hazard as it could impact airbag or pieces of dash could cause injury as they are sharp. Dealers will not replace although it appears to be known issue

I received a safety recall notice for my vehicle and scheduled an appointment for repair, #N212328790. Upon arriving, the dealer advised me there was a very small crack in the dash and if the dash cracked during the removal or installation, GM would NOT reimburse for any damage to the dash. The default was with the manufacturer and if they didn't replace it correctly, I'd be out serious money to replace and maintain the value of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2013 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V053000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The dealer informed the contact that should the dashboard get cracked, replacing the dashboard would be at his expense. The contact called another local dealer, Cannon Motors LLC (100 N Thacker Lp., Oxford, MS 38655), who informed the contact about the dashboard possibly being cracked and the associated fees. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The issue is that we have to sign off on liability for the dealer to install the new safety airbag to state that we are accepting a cracked dashboard. This is ridiculous and the manufacturer (GMC) should have to replace the dashbboard along with the air bag.

The contact owns a 2013 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 MPH, the air bags inadvertently deployed. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that he was not involved in any crash and did not know what caused the failure. The contact stated that there was no injury. The contact stated that he then rolled the air bags up in order to be able to see as he drove the vehicle to his residence. The contact stated that he contacted the dealer who informed him that the failure was not related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V054000 (Air Bags). The contact stated that he had not contacted the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 190,000.

The contact stated while her son was driving approximately 20 MPH the driver's side curtain, passenger side curtain and ceiling air bags deployed with no accident occurring. The contact stated her son did not see any warning light illuminated. The contact's son safely pulled over to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. The contact's son attempted to restart the vehicle, however it took several attempts to restart the vehicle. The son suffered injuries to the left side of his face and top of head, but did not seek medical attention. The vehicle had not been taken to local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.

In my 2013 Yukon Denali XL the dash has cracked. It is very common for these to crack over time and I think they should fix it. Also the seat on the driver side is torn.

Vehicle is kept inside in a garage in Pennsylvania with 53000 original miles. While driving the vehicle a heard a sound that sounded like plastic cracking, low and behold I watched a crack form beginning at the split between the upper dash panel and the larger dash and it continued over the instrument cluster. I also noticed another smaller crack in the panel surrounding the air bag, of which as also been recalled but no solution as of today. Upon researching further I find I am not alone, this is an obvious defect in either part material or assembly and should be covered by a recall. Dealer replacement for this will run around 1,000 dollars. I am worried that if I am involved in an accident not only do I have to worry about pieces of metal being propelled into a passenger now I also have to worry about plastic from a defective dash. Thank you for you attention to this matter.

2ND DASH THAT HAS CRACKED. FIRST WAS IN APPROX 2015 AND THEN THIS YEAR. LARGE COMPLETE SECTION BROKEN OUT. CAME OUTSIDE TO FIND IT HAD CRACKED AND KEEP WINDSHIELD COVER IN IT. BOTH DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN AND I HAVE REPLACED THOSE. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 55,465 MILES.

DASHBOARD HAD 1 CRACK KNOWN PRIOR TO TAKATA RECALL, WHEN PICKED UP SEVERAL NEW CRACKS NOW EXIST. DEALER DENIED ANY WRONGDOING AND SUGGESTED I PURCHASE A COVER TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. GMC SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF QUALITY CONTROL FOR DASHBOARD AS WELL AS POOR DESIGN/FAULTY DOOR HANDLES THAT BREAK EASILY BUT ENTIRE PANEL PURCHASE IS THE ONLY REMEDY. NO MORE GENERAL MOTOR VEHICLES FOR ME.

DASH BOARD ON MY GMC TRUCK IS CRACKED IN THREE PLACES. ONE OF THE PLACES IS A CORNER ON THE DASH THAT ENCASES THE AIRBAG. I HAVE RELIGIOUSLY COVERED THE DASH SINCE DAY ONE, BECAUSE I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM ON MY 2007 SIERRA. DASH CRACKED IN ONE PLACE. DEALER REPLACED IT FOR FREE.

Was told by my local dealer that they did not have to complete to recall unless I signed a document holding them blameless if they cracked my dashboard or cracked it worst than it already is. I declined to sign until I could investigate why I absolutely had to sign a document absolving GM of their bad design. I believe it to be unjust and insulting that we are required to choose between the safety of our vehicles vs the possible destruction of the interior due to GM's poor design. I did not get a picture of the document before I left the dealer but was told I could bring it back later if I wanted it fixed but I would have to sign the document.

WHILE DRIVING IN TENNESSEE ON A FAMILY VACATION, WE HEARD A CRACK FROM THE FRONT AREA OF THE CAR AND THE PASSENGER SAW THE DASHBOARD HAD CRACKED. THE CRACK IS IN THE MIDDLE THOUGH I'M CONCERNED IT MAY INTERFERE WITH AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. IT WAS A SUNNY DAY IN THE SUMMERTIME. THE INTERIOR TEMPERATURE WAS SET TO 76 DEGREES. WE WERE ON A SMOOTH HIGHWAY, GOING ABOUT 50MPH. WE DID NOT HIT ANY ROAD OBSTRUCTIONS OR HOLES. SINCE THE INITIAL CRACK OCCURRENCE, THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL LENGTHENING CRACKS, IN BOTH SUMMER AND WINTER, (OHIO) WHERE WE HEARD CRACKING SOUNDS BOTH DRIVING AND AT REST (PARKED BUT IDLING) I DON'T HAVE PICTURES AT THIS TIME, THOUGH I CAN PROVIDE CURRENT JPG'S IF NEEDED.

THE DASH BOARD IS CRACKED FROM THE DRIVER SIDE ALL THE WAY TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. UPON DOING RESEARCH, THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THESE MODELS. I'VE CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER CARE AND ADVISED THEM OF THE ISSUE AS WELL AS MY CONCERN THAT THE CRACKED DASH BOARD MAY PUNCTURE THE AIRBAG AND BECOME INOPERABLE DURING AN ACCIDENT.

A LITTLE OF A MONTH AGO WE NOTICED THERE WAS A CRACK FROM THE CORNER OF THE AIR BAG DOWN THE DASH. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT IF MY SERVICE CONTRACT WAS GOING TO COVER THIS SINCE I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. THE INFORMED ME IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND MY HUSBAND AS WE HAVE TWO SMALL KIDS AND ALWAYS HAVE KIDS IN THE CAR. SO I TRIED TO OPEN A CASE WITH GM CUSTOMER CARE HOPING THEY WERE GOING TO DO SOMETHING AS THIS WAS A GM CERTIFIED VEHICLE AND THAT WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED 2 MONTHS AGO. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT ANY OF IT. THEY GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY AND TOLD ME IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL ISSUED ON IT AND THEY AREN'T GOING TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME. THEY ADVISED ME TO TALK TO THE DEALERSHIP CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE MANAGER AND SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAVE ALWAYS BOUGHT GM PRODUCTS BUT THIS HAS CHANGED MY MINE. PEOPLES LIVES COULD BE AT STAKE HERE WITH DASHBOARDS CRACKING ALL AROUND THESE AIRBAGS THAT SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH. I ADVISED THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND THEY ALL ACT SURPRISED!! I DRIVE A BIG SUV FOR MORE PROTECTION AND RELIABILITY FOR MY CHILDREN AND NOW I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 69K MILES ON IT THAT WAS WORTH A TON OF MONEY THAT NOW IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK FOR ME WHEN I DRIVE WITH MY KIDS AND OTHER KIDS. No warning light was illuminated; however, the "Service Engine" message was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the lifters needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the lifters needed to be replaced once again. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer again to be diagnosed; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

THE L94 ENGINE P/N 19418446 WITH THE VARIABLE LIFTERS HAVE A PROBLEM OF FAILING AND CAUSING THEM TO STICK AND DAMAGE THE CAM SHAFT. THIS CAUSES A LOUD TICKING IN THE ENGINE AND CAUSES THE ENGINE TO EITHER BE REBUILT OR REPLACED AT A COST OF 5 TO 8 THOUSAND DOLLARS WITH NO CONSIDERATION FROM GM. THIS SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING A LOT FROM TALKING TO DEALERS AND OTHER MECHANICS. THIS IS A KNOW DEFECT BY GM AS THEY NO LONGER MAKE THIS TYPE OF ENGINE WITH THE VARIABALE LIFTERS. IF THIS IS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM OR BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COVERING PART OF THE COST TO REPLACE / REBUILD THE ENGINE.

AT 148000 MILES GOING 35 MPH CYLINDER 4 ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT LIFTER COLLAPSED. I LOOKED THIS UP ON THE INTERNET AND THIS IS SUBJECT OF SEVERAL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. THIS IS A DEFECT, THIS ENGINE HAS RECEIVED ALL REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS AT THE DEALERSHIP, NEVER TOWED, AND NEVER OFF ROAD WITH NO MODIFICATIONS. THIS IS ABOUT A $3000 REPAIR JUST FOR THE AFFECTED BANK OF LIFTERS, $4200 TO DO BOTH BANKS OF LIFTERS. THIS IS UNHEARD OF IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE. GM KNOWS THIS IS A FAILURE OF THIS SYSTEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING BUT ISSUE BULLETINS FOR ITS CONSUMERS.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ABOUT 70MPH AND THE CAR STARTED SPUTTERING AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON AND I THOUGHT THE CAR WAS GOING TO STALL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ON TO THE SHOULDER AND LOOK UNDER THE HOOD. I THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD SPARKPLUG OR SOMETHING. I HOOKED UP A OBD READER AND GOT CODE P0306. GOT IT TOWED TO FIRESTONE AND THEY DID DIAGNOSTICS. THEY SAID IT WAS A FAILED LIFTER, A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH GM VEHICLES. THE TICKING NOISE THAT IT WAS MAKING WAS FROM THE FAILED LIFTER. I AM HOPING THE CAMSHAFT IS NOT DAMAGED EITHER.

DEEP CRACKS IN DASHBOARD, INCLUDING PASSENGER AIRBAG AREA, COULD POSE SERIOUS RISK BY AFFECTING THE DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAG. THIS IS APPARENTLY CAUSED BY THE POOR QUALITY PLASTIC MATERIAL USED TO MANUFACTURE THE DASHBOARD. THIS MATERIAL CANNOT WITHSTAND THE SUMMER/HOT CLIMATE.

Odometer Fraud. The contact owned a 2013 GMC Yukon. The contact sold a vehicle to an independent company, Pedal.com; however, was advised that the vehicle was sold to an individual and the odometer appeared to be altered. The contact stated that another individual discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was an independent dealer sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 119,000. It was later discovered that the mileage was 273,000.

AROUND 50K THE SIDE DETECTION WARNING SYSTEM AND PARK ASSIST QUIT WORKING. UPON TAKING IT IN FOR REPAIRS WE FIND THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE, AND REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE AT A SHORTAGE..DUE TO HIGH VOLUME OF REPAIRS. WE CALLED GM CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY STATE THERE IS NO RECALL AND OUR REPAIR WILL BE OVER $1000 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE FEEL THIS IS UNFAIR PRACTICE SINCE THEY ARE AWARE THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT INDICATE STABILITRAC NEEDS SERVICE AND IS NOT ON. OBD CODE READS BAD STEERING SENSOR. ACCORDING TO OTHER GM OWNERS ONLINE THIS IS A CONSTANT PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES. MANY SHOW THE REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS ON LINE. THE WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN OFF AND ON FOR SOME TIME WHEN CAR IS COOL ITS OFF WHEN IT SETS IN THE SUN IT GOES ON. I HAVE CONTACTED THE TOPEKA KS GM DEALER TWICE THIS WEEK TO GET THE COST TO REPLACE THIS SENSOR AND AM TOLD THEY WILL CALL ME BACK BUT NO ONE HAS.

Stopped at a light and went to pull off when the light turned green and the car would not move at the speed of gas I was giving it coasted into the Intersection. I had to turn the car off in the middle of an intersection, restart it and shift back into drive as I got down the road it did the same thing I’ll be in drive and go to apply gas and seems as though the transmission slips causing unsafe driving.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER PARKING IN A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE, SHE WALKED AROUND TO REMOVE A SMALL CHILD FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN IT STARTED TO ROLL AWAY IN REVERSE. THE KEYS WERE NOT IN THE IGNITION AND THE VEHICLE WAS SECURED IN PARK. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO ROLL AWAY UNTIL CRASHING INTO A FENCE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS STILL OPEN AND WAS PUSHED UNTIL ABNORMALLY BENDING THE DOOR FORWARD. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BRUISED ANKLE WHEN THE DOOR SLAMMED INTO HER. THE CHILD WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. Monday 5th 2022, (2pm)I was driving with the AC on high as I had just left the mall. The interior was hot. As I left the mall and came to a stop light...the car would rev at stop, and continue to do so until the light changed. I had the oil and transmission fluid changed at 135000. It is currently at 138000. I turned off the AC because it did not seem to work (to cool the car down) and rolled the windows down and open the sun roof. Tuesday 6th, I was leaving the store (4pm) and again I turned the AC on and approached a stop light. When I stopped at the light, the car started revving or idling in pulses again as it did on Monday, however as I went to turn right onto the street, there was no power steering at all. Startled, I pressed the brake, shifted into park, turned the SUV off. Then restarted the SUV and the steering had returned to normal. I kept the AC off and drove home.

On Feb.21-2020 cracks were noticed on all four tires [ only 11,000 miles ] and rubber started to fall off [separation] pics att. With side walls cracking, are these tires safe? [ from blow out ]? I am a senior cit. and do not have the $1500. to replace these four tires, is there a recall? WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD GOING ABOUT 45 MPH AND VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT LOST POWER THEN IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. HAD ONLY GONE ABOUT 3 MILES WHEN IT HAPPENED. WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AND RESTART VEHICLE TO DRIVE BACK HOME. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING. IT DID SEEM LIKE THE ENGINE WAS REVVING ITSELF FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN I RESTARTED IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ADDED BRAKE FLUID TO THE VEHICLE AND THE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN, BUT THERE WAS NO FLUID LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. Vehicle equipped with 6.2l v8 engine. Have been experiencing hesitation upon acceleration, decrease in power/reduced performance, trouble starting, abnormal shifting (particularly from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th gear) for about two months. On two separate occassions(once about 1yr ago and the second time about a week ago) during normal use of the vehicle, the car started to shudder and the CEL began flashing. Both times I immediately pulled over and shut off the vehicle. Fluids were good, car has never overheated, regular maintenance has been performed as well. When I turned the car back on, the light was off and didn't show any signs that there was an issue. Two days ago during normal use of the car at about 35mph, a loud knocking/ticking sound started. I was about 1/8 mile from my destination so I attempted to make it there. Driveway is uphill and when I accelerated to get up the hill the sound got much louder and ticking was twice as fast. Shut off the car, let it cool, and knocking sound was just as bad the next time I started the car. Had the car towed to prevent damaging the vehicle further. This car is financed and i have three payments left on the 54 month contract. Today i reached out to the dealer about the issue and asked if I should bring my car to their service dept. I explained how i have been experiencing most of the issues that GM has identified as warning signs that indicate a potential engine failure and I was told theres no way my car has a recalled engine and the guy laughed at me when I tried to give him the information I found on the NHTSA website. Not really sure who I'm supposed to call to get some help with this issue.

The truck locks start locking and unlocking on their own, the stabilitrac and traction control will cycle between on and off, the motor will shut off, it goes to limp mode, check engine light comes on, traction control light comes on, abs light comes on, it has stalled in drive throughs on the interstate, driving around town, the vehicle is at pat clemons gmc in boone iowa, they replaced the bcm and it is still happening, there is an nhsta campaign #14V61400 for a chassis control module recall, this vehicle vin is not in that, but it does exhibit all the symptoms mentioned in the recall, very much a safety issue as it can happen anytime, especially when it is raining or snowing, started about a year ago

I call this a "Panic breaking defect" I have experienced this on two different GMC vehicles manufactured 14 years apart. The first was a 1999 GMC suburban with mechanically operated throttle control. The second was my present GMC Yukon XL Denali with electronic throttle control. The defect: The close proximity of the accelerator pedal to the brake pedal makes it possible to have the right foot on both pedals at the same time. This results in high engine RPM and full breaking pressure, however, the anti-lock breaking system releases and re-applies the break pressure repeatedly allowing the vehicle to lunge forward a short distance on each cycle. To remove ones foot from the both pedals so as to apply it to just the break would result in the vehicle, engine being at high RPM, to allow the vehicle to speed forward resulting in a serious collision. True one could use the left foot, if able, on the break and then remove the right foot, allowing the engine to return to idle but on modern automatic transmission equipped cars where the left foot plays essentially no part in driving, such an action is not likely to occur. Also the ignition key could be turned off but with both hands employed to apply maximum pressure on the steering wheel to ensure maximum braking effort, that is not likely to occur either, besides that would result in lack of power steering and vacuum boost to the break system. A proposed solution: In a drive by wire environment it would be simple to send an idle signal to the throttle body every time the break pedal is pressed and this is the condition which occurs in a normal breaking situation. I have related this to the service manager of my local dealer and have also communicated it to General Motors Customer Support even offering to demonstrate the problem but have received no response. After all I am only a lowly customer and it matters not that I am also a retired Engineer!

There is an issue with the radio head unit that causes a high pitched noise, even when the radio is off. It happens with anything connected to the radio, like the indicator, seatbelt warning, door ajar warning. The high pitch noise causes migraines and nausea in drivers and passengers. Issue has been ongoing for months. All 3 radio heads installed by dealer have emitted this sound. Dealer refuses to send in 3rd new unit. Relief from sound only happens when the fuse for the radio head unit is pulled. Attaching a picture of the sound frequency after opening the door, car not on.
