We noticed the passenger side taillight was out. It’s not a simple bulb replacement but an entire assembly. It was put back in place and it lit up again. A few weeks later it wasn’t working. Pounded and tapped on it and it works again. We're guessing there is some sort of short so we asked for an estimate on getting an assembly replacement when it was in for a regular oil change. Shocked that a necessary part would cost $1,112.77!!! Whatever happened to changing a bulb for a few dollars?

The contact owns a 2017 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the driver’s and passenger’s side taillights failed to illuminate as designed. The contact called the dealer about the failure and was informed that there were no recalls or warranties on the vehicle associated with the failure. The contact was also informed that the repair would be an out-of-pocket expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000.

Rear LED taillights circuit boards broken. Disabling both Stop tail lights causing serious safety hazard. We had no clue driving around and we didn't have any brake lights another driver had to tell us. So we googled this problem and it turns out that all of 2017 GMC Yukon have the same issue. There's even multiple websites to repair them as well as auto supply stores selling replacements for $1,000 and the dealership wants $1,500. This is a real problem and GM needs to make this right and recall all of these and replace them before somebody gets hurt if they haven't already.

Rear (Tail/Stop) lights on both sides, would work intermittently. Turns out it’s a known issue with the LED circuit boards. They consistently break in 2 places, leaving the vehicle with no tail lights/stip lights. GM knows of the issue , but since it’s NOT CONSIDERED a Safety Issue, they do nothing. It’s clearly a safety issue, as following drivers may not see lights, on the rear. Clearly, it is definitely a safety issue, as it can easily cause an accident, not knowing a car is there in the dark , or not knowing that the vehicle in front of them is on the brakes, and slowing.

The rear taillight has gone out. The LED board has a crack in the soldering causing the entire unit to malfunction.

WHEN I BOUGHT THE YUKON 3 YEARS AGO THE TRANMISSION WENT OUT WITHIN MONTHS, THEY REPLACED IT WITH A USED ONE, NOW IT IS STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING, IT WILL SLIP IN AND OUT OF GEAR, WHEN YOU GIVE IT GAS IT WILL JUMP INTO GEAR AT AN IDLE IT WILL DROP OUT OF GEAR, IT'S BEEN DOING THIS EVERY SINCE THEY PUT THE USED ONE IN, I NOITIED THEM THEY SAID THAT IT IS NORMAL???? I HAD THE WORK DONE @ PAHRUMP VALLEY AUTO PLAZA. I'M AFRAID THAT WHEN IM AT A LIGHT IT WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR AND I WILL GET HIT. NO WARING LAMPS CAME ON AT ALL, IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE.

I brought a 2017 Yukon GMC from a dealership. When I first drove it on a highway it began to pull and shake, to the point it slow down on the highway. Also the dashboard started to shake , vibrate on the highway. When I step on the gas on a local road ,the transmission is pulling to pick up speed. Took it to a Mechanic and explained to him what was going on he test drove it and told me it's the transmission. He also said this year truck " GMC" truck like this has bad transmission. I did my research and find out that it is true. I have a disabled mother that I take to her doctors appointment and I'm scared bto out her in this truck. This is a 1 vehicle and anytime the truck will just slow down or vibrate or shake. No check engine light comes on when it happens.ifni driving on A highway sometimes the check engine light will blink 3 to four times then go back out.

My 2017 GMC Yukon SLT,, has been having shifting problems, including hard or delayed shifts, clunking, jerking, and even sudden jolts when downshifting.Rough or jerky shifts, particularly during acceleration and deceleration, a delay in engaging gears, especially when shifting from park to drive or reverse. Transmission shifts are very rough in slow traffic with as much as one to two-second delays in shifting into gear with a loud thump. It is so rough that it feels like someone may have ran into your back bumper. It is also bad enough that it startles the driver, and it could be a safety issue

This has been going on for a while now, but it’s getting worse overtime. If I push on my brakes more than twice the brake pedal locks up and I have to push extremely hard to get my vehicle stopped.. luckily I have never been going fast and had to worry about this. This is normally when I am pulling into a parking spot or I am backing up that I have to tap on my brakes a few times. A couple of times I have bumped the pole in front of my parking spot due to not having brakes. I just put in a general date as to when they started to get worse.

Crash: 1
At parking lot speeds, there have been many incedents of brake failure, when pressing pedal to stop pedal pulsates and becomes very hard to stop the yukon. there seems to be a vacume or booster issue. Yukon will be fine for days then reaccure when slowing at stop sign or waitng at red light and moving foward in slow traffic to sign or llight and then in happens again. scary and unreliable when using brakes at low speed intersections or continous stop and go's
Dec 02, 2025
At low idle speeds like in a parking lot we almost hit another car because the brakes were very hard to press. No power brakes. Felt as I was having to stand on the brake pedal with both feet to stop my vehicle from hitting another car at a grocery store parking lot going 5 mph! A light flashes on and says”service brake assist “ light goes away and drives normal and brakes normal except when you get to a stop sign, or traffic light. This happens a few times and I’m not driving the car because of it because I might hit someone

Yukon break tail lamp problems. Brake lights work intermittently. Very dangerous! The break lights will work intermittently and then work. This was an issue with the 2016 models and GM issues a recall. There is no recall for 2017 which I don't understand because nothing has changed with the manufacturing process. I researched and there is a class action but in California only.

I was driving my car and it started making "clanging" and "banging" noises and jolting/jerking forward. It was scary to drive because of the noise and the jerking foward. I was afraid that my car was going to just stop working, I would get stuck/stranded somewhere or my car was going to blow up. I brought it in to the dealer two times. The first time they thought it was the battery so they replaced the battery but that didn't fix the problem. The second time I left it there for days and they told me that I needed a new transmission. The problem was reproduced and inspected by them. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the failure. The problem started on approximately January 6, 2025. Online, I have read from other sources that 2017 - 2020 GMC YUKONS are know to have transmission problems. My car only has 58,000 miles on it, has been serviced consistently, and should not need a new transmission at this low mileage point.( 150,000 to 200,000 is the norm for transmission replacement)

I am submitting this complaint regarding a persistent and significant transmission issue with my 2017 GMC Yukon Denali, which I purchased in June 2024. The transmission has been malfunctioning, causing the vehicle to jerk and hesitate, particularly during acceleration. This component is available for inspection upon request. Safety Concerns: This issue poses a serious risk to my safety and the safety of others on the road. The jerking and hesitation during operation can result in delayed acceleration or unexpected speed changes. These problems have occurred while merging into traffic and driving on highways, creating hazardous situations where immediate and reliable vehicle performance is critical. Reproduction and Inspection: The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by an independent mechanic who inspected the vehicle. The diagnosis identified a transmission malfunction, which appears consistent with reports from other owners of GMC Yukon models. However, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. Warning Symptoms: There were no warning lamps or error messages displayed prior to the onset of the issue. The jerking and hesitation began soon after I purchased the vehicle in June 2024 and have progressively worsened over time. I have discovered that GMC has issued recalls for similar transmission issues in later Yukon models (2021 and 2022). However, despite widespread complaints, earlier models like my 2017 Yukon Denali have not been included in these recalls. Given the safety risks associated with this transmission defect and the frequency of similar complaints from other owners, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter. Prompt action is essential to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers in affected vehicles and to hold the manufacturer accountable for addressing this defect.

AC stopped blowing cold air while driving
May 13, 2024
This happened 5 years ago but I never reported it. GMC 2017 Yukon. I put my SUV in park, and entered and exited it several times while parked in my driveway. When I went to grab my purse (standing at drivers side door, reaching for purse on passenger seat) the car rolled. I was on a sloped driveway. The car rolled backwards, and I tried to jam it into park more strongly, but it just made a grinding noise and kept going. I was knocked over by the car door, pulled under the car and ended up having my legs run over by the car. I sustained injuries which affect me to this day. I was transported to the hospital by an ambulance after a 911 call, so I presume there is a police report. I was injured and dazed. This happened on [XXX]. I am only reporting it now since I never thought about doing so before I read an article today about cars being recalled for this problem. If other people have my model of car and this is a problem, I would want them to know. I was thinking maybe I hit the gear shift with my purse and knocked it out of park, but this should not have happened without the brake depressed. I was standing next to the drivers side door when this happened. I did have the car taken to the dealership to be examined, and they said it was ok, but could not really explain how this happened. I still have this SUV but am very cautious about any situation where the car could roll when in park and cause injury. The car crashed into a tree and that stopped the rolling. Has there been other reports of this happening with this model of car? I would like to know, because if there is a problem that has come to light in this, I will get a different vehicle! I started noticing issues with my transmission around 55,000 miles on it. It first started with no noticing that it wouldn’t gear down when it needed to, and then when it finally did gear down, it would really jerk the vehicle. I started calling GMC then and questioning and putting in a claim. Just went back-and-forth four months. Now it was getting worse to where I could feel the transmission slipping it wouldn’t kick into upper gear or lower gear. Again, I was still calling GMC and reporting these issues. I was told to take it and have a transmission oil change, which I did costing me $300. I still noticed this problem and I continue to call. I kept being told that they would have somebody call me back which nobody ever called me back to find out specifics. I took it to a GMC garage have them put it on a machine, and I was told that it needed a new transmission and this wasn’t something GMC was covering. This new transmission cost me $6200 and was done on 1/5/25. Please remember this vehicle only had 64,000 miles on it, which is absolutely ridiculous to need a transmission at this mileage. I again had called in January 2025 reporting this and was told someone would call me back and never heard from them.

2017 Yukon Denali manufactured in 2016. It requires the exact same repairs as the 2016 service bulletin N192291660. My Transmission wiring Harness must be replaced including the gasket and filter. There is a known issue with the GMC strutts leaking. I contacted several GMC dealerships to purchase strutts so that a local mechanic could put fix my truck without the dealership pricing. GMC refuses to sell the parts to anyone other than a dealership. I was informed by several dealerships the part is a national back order for 6 months. The cost that GM is making for each person that purchased a 2017 Denali is between two to four thousand dollars!! While driving my truck myself and my daughter would come out of the seat! This should be a recall. I'm also reporting this to the consumer financial protection bureau. I phoned this in a month ago and have heard nothing.

FRONT MAGNETIC SHOCKS QUICKLY FAILED, PART NO. SK3354. PART HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER FOR OVER A MONTH, WHICH MEANS IT IS FAILING ON MANY VEHICLES. PART IS KNOWN BY REPAIR SHOPS TO BE DEFECTIVE, BUT THEY SAY THE REPLACEMENT PART LASTS LONGER. GM SHOULD PAY SOMETHING TOWARD REPLACING THIS DEFECTIVE PART, WHICH IS ON MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES. FAILURE OF THIS PART CAUSES VEHICLE TO BOUNCE EXCESSIVELY WHICH MAKES THE VEHICLE MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL.

My vehicle started making a knocking sound and eventually died on me. I barely made it to a repair shop to check out my vehicle, but had to get it towed back to my home from the repair shop after they told me my engine failed. This happened around 118,000 mileage. I found out that this issue is very common and needs to be addressed for this year and model vehicle. It could have ended very badly for me as I was on the interstate when it happened. Now, my vehicle is sitting and I am unable to use it. Engine would cost me over $12k for cost and repairs.

Tail Brake Light failure The tail brake lights have gone out on a vehicle that isn't 10 years old yet. Tail lights should not go out this quickly and the dealership will kindly replace them at $1300 per tail light. This is absolutely absurd! It is available for inspection. This definitely puts myself and others at risk! Yes, this problem has been confirmed and inspected by a GMC dealer. Advised this is a very common problem with this vehicle. There are no warning lamps or messages to alert when the brake lights have gone out. Instrument Cluster failure The instrument cluster is also faulty in this truck. This is the 2nd time within a year that i have had issues with this. Safety concern is that you will not know if the vehicle is running hot because the gauges stop working. Also runs the battery down as the fan continues to run for about 10 minutes after the vehicle is turned off. Yes, the problem has been confirmed and inspected by a dealer. Advised that this is a very common problem with this vehicle. No, there are no warning lamps or messages to alert you of the problem. You just notice a different noise while driving, the gauges stop working and then when you turn it off, the fan continues to run.

1.)Rear Brakes are not functioning properly. They still have pads but when you press down to pump the brake it fails. I was told by a mechanic that they other GMC vehicles have had recalls on this, but mine is not showing one. 2.)The suspension on this vehicle has never worked properly. It rides extremely rough. It has some special suspension in it from a shock perspective, but it feels as if it often fails. 3.) I had to replace the torque converter in this vehicle last year, and the fluid that runs through it. Apparently this is a known issue with no recall. 4.) the transmission slips when the vehicle shifts gears. It shifts hard. Also a known issue with no recall.

VEHICLE HAS A ROUGH IDLE AT COLD START. ALSO MISFIRES AT STOPLIGHTS AND RANDOM TIMES. VEHICLE STALLED ONCE THIS MORNING COMPLETELY. TOLD BY MY GMC DEALERSHIP THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE ALL FUEL INJECTORS FOR OVER $2,000. I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN MARCH. THE FUEL INJECTORS ARE ON BACK-ORDER CURRENTLY SO I AM UNABLE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD ANOTHER VEHICLE LIKE MINE AT THAT SERVICE CENTER HAS BEEN WAITING ALREADY FOR 6 WEEKS FOR FUEL INJECTORS AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT AT LEAST ANOTHER MONTH. THIS MEANS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REGISTER MY VEHICLE WITH MY STATE AS IT WILL NOT PASS SMOG INSPECTION WITH A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REGISTER IT DUE TO THE DMV CLOSURE FROM COVID-19. ITS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT CAN STALL AT ANY MOMENT AND IS IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX WITHOUT WAITING FOR PARTS. THESE PARTS ARE OBVIOUSLY ON BACK-ORDER SO LONG BECAUSE THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. I FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN FROM NHTSA ( DCS5097 ) WHICH COVERS MY PROBLEM EXACTLY. BUT FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON, SPECIAL COVERAGE ONLY APPLIES TO 13 STATES. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MUCH MORE WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAN THOUGHT AND I BELIEVE MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF THOSE AROUND ME IS AT RISK IF I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE AND THOSE LIKE MINE SHOULD BE COVERED BY SPECIAL COVERAGE AS WELL. AND AT THE VERY LEAST THE PARTS TO FIX THIS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE GIVEN THAT ITS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE NOW FOR WELL OVER A YEAR. THESE PARTS HAVE BEEN BACK-ORDERED WAY BEFORE COVID-19 EVEN HIT, SO IT CANNOT BE ATTRIBUTED TO THAT. GM HAS AN OBLIGATION TO KEEP THEIR VEHICLES ON THE ROAD SAFE AND MAINTAINED TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY AND WHEN IT COMES TO THIS ISSUE THEY ARE FAILING TO DO SO. *TR

First problem started back in May.. it’s went downhill ever since. Hard shifting was happening. GM dealer said I needed a new transmission. Found out from local repair shop that I needed a torque converter ($600) multiple transmission fluid changes (apparently many issues for A Lot of people) changed that. Then had to change Valve Body & TCM. ($540) everything started working but not 100% did a full tune up having multiple misfires constantly then shuttering when idle. Also replaced ECM ($200+)After changing all spark plugs, wires, oil, etc. the AC was having issues had been having issues for months. Kept adding Freon had to replace AC Condenser (works great now, was told by repair shop that’s also very common in these year models. Condensers are all weak in the same spot) just recently October 2022, my instrument cluster started going haywire. Gauges going off and on screens going blank. Had Alternator and battery tested both test fine. No loss of power but when hitting the start/stop vehicle would continue to run and lock and unlock when it wanted. Husband took the alternator out to have it tested again. They tested 3x 1st. Good, 2nd Error, 3rd Bad ( it was overcharging at 16.5V) replaced Alternator ($290) gauges still going haywire, like before it is only sometimes, when they do it’s bad bad.. but I can also drive to town and back 20-30 miles and not the first issue. Just left GM with a new Battery Distribution Fuse Block ($153) because of course it can’t just be a regular ($8-10) mega fuse, hopefully this will fix my issue. We pay too much money for this vehicle to have all of these issues & none be under warranty. I’ve been having the TAILLIGHT ISSUES as well ever since I purchased the car in 2018. When I received the recall on the taillight it was 6 years up to 72,000 & of course my vehicle had 79k miles on it at that time so that’s wasn’t covered.

The information screen on the gauge cluster sometimes will stop working. This is dangerous as It is the only part that shows if the vehicle is in Park, Reverse, Nuetral, or drive. It also is the only part that shows the vehicles fuel level, blinker, cruise control, temperature and other warnings and controls. This is a common problem for the 2015- xxxx Yukon and Tahoe.

The vehicle main information cluster randomly goes in and out and now has completely stopped working. This is the information display that shows Park, Nuetral, Drive, Reverse, Fuel gauge, digital MPH and other information such as oil tire pressure, turn signals, forward collision. Just knowing if the vehicle is in Park Reverse or Drive is a huge saftey issue. This seems to be a common problem on GM vehicles and i wcan't seem to find a recall issued for the saftey factor that the vehicle can be assumed to be in Park and it's actually in Reverse. The first time I noticed this problem was Sept. 05, 2020 but it had reset when I restarted the vehicle. The problem would resurface occasionally but always came back on when restarting the vehicle. But know it seems that restarting the vehicle is not fixing the problem and the screen has been blank for the last 3 days.

I have a 2017 Yukon. There is a recall on this model already for a vacuum pump that decreases the power brake assist. My vehicle is having this exact issue. The back tire sounds like the compressor is always running and when braking it grinds at the pedal like a vibration and doesn’t want to stop immediately. I need my vehicle added to the recall list so I can get it repaired.

I bought the vehicle in October 2024 ever since then I have been trouble with the differential, the automatic starter doesn't start the vehicle unless you are at least one feet away from the vehicle. I drove to work when I got off and got in my vehicle my check engine light was on. The vehicle was saying there was an issue with the battery, antilock braking system. I bought an extended warranty up to 150,000, I currently have 63,400 on my vehicle. Empire Buick GMC of White Plains has not been honoring my warrantee, I had to rent a car to get back and forth to work because of fear of riding the NYC subway.

I was taking my client to school. I stopped at the stop sign. When I pushed gas pedal to go, my truck did not go, it strained did a big jerk then went. The next morning it did the same thing & later on that day, it did it again. Two days later I had to stop at red light. When the light turned green I pressed the gas pedal & nothing. It did not go at all. I turned the ignition off and back on twice & put it in drive still did not go but was slowly going backwards. A by-stander stopped to assist me getting my truck out of traffic.

At low speed the vehicle will down shift on it’s own. 80k miles Recently while headed to work, the torque converter went out. 126k This is suppose to be a luxury vehicle and cost entirely to much to be a POS. I honestly thought I had a lemon but it seems to be a reoccurring issue in the entire fleet.

I purchased a 2017 GMC Yukon Denali brand new off the showroom floor. I have maintained the services thru GMC dealership. I had to replace the struts and rear and front shocks due to hydraulic system leaking and locking up my brakes and causing extra pressure on my braking system to stop my vehicle. This cost me over $5000 to replace out of my pocket and I saw there was a previous recall in 2019 for similar problem but i was told my issues were not covered under the recall. I have also had to replace both taillights within 2years of purchasing my brand new vehicle and now they are out again. This will be my second time having to replace the LED tail lights that cost over $375 light which were stated as never go out of lifetime guarantee. You cannot just replace the bulb you have to replace the whole tail light which takes weeks to come in and then additional labor costs. The previous

My vehicle began shuddering during acceleration and would violently jerk forward after gas pedal was engaged with decreased power in forward acceleration and increase in rpm. This last a couple of weeks. Now, my vehicle is completely broke down and at a GM certified service center. The Service manager states torque converter completely went out and the transmission is burnt up. The mileage is at $61,000, so GM warranty won’t cover it and the company that holds the extended warranty I purchased hasn’t been able to be successfully contacted. There is a “service” bulletin but no recalls and a class action lawsuit (that I’m not a part of) but no recall. My vehicle completely lost power going 50mph on a busy road without warning. This needs to be a recall due to this dangerous circumstance.

IN THE LAST YEAR, BOTH OF THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS HAVE FAILED IN MY 2017 GMC YUKON. TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE TAIL LIGHTS IT COST +$750 PER TAIL LIGHT FOR A CAR THAT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. I WORK WITH LED LIGHTING AND ON AVERAGE, LED LIGHTS SHOULD LAST FOR 5000 HOURS OF USE. THERE IS NO WAY THAT IN THE LAST 3 YEARS WE HAVE UTILIZED 5000 HOURS OF DRIVE TIME TO WARRANT THAT THESE LED'S SHOULD BE BURNING OUT. I BELIEVE THAT THE LED'S THAT THEY ARE USING ARE DEFECTIVE AND A CASE NEEDS TO BE MADE TO SEE IF GMC IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE REAR TAIL LIGHT LED'S, THE PARTS ARE WAY TOO EXPENSIVE TO BE FAILING AFTER A FEW YEARS OF INTERMITTENT USE. *TR

THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO OCCASIONALLY STALL/SPUTTER WHEN ACCELERATING/PROCEEDING FROM A STOP POSITION AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. EVEN THOUGH ON A SMOOTH ROAD SURFACE, THE RIGHT WHEEL SEEMS TO VIBRATE. THE ENGINE STALL IS THE SAME INSTANCE WHICH OCCURRED IN THE 2015 VEHICLE THAT I TRADED BECAUSE IT LEFT ME STRANDED. THE WHEEL SHAKING IS NOT A CONTINUOUS EVENT. THE STALLING OCCURS FREQUENTLY.
