On Christmas Day while driving on the highway, I noticed a ticking sound coming from the engine. Our 21 Yukon Denali just hit 85,000 miles. I first noticed the traction control light was became disabled and then the check engine light started flashing. The sound escalates when you step on the gas. It appears that the lifters and cams are damaged on the vehicle and had to be towed to a dealership were it currently waits to avoid further damage. I was advised by the dealership that this particular vehicle is not part of the engine, recall notice, but heard that they might be expanding vin numbers to the recall as more incidents occur. They did confirm that the lifters and Cam’s are the issue. The vehicle has had a great maintenance record and was just at the same dealership five weeks earlier for oil change.

Driving the vehicle on the highway when I started to hear a ticking sound from the engine. After a few minutes, the check engine light came on and started flashing, traction control shut off and some system related to the rear end shut off. After inspection, it appears to have dropped a lifter.

My GMC Yukon with 6.2 is using 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. An oil consumption test was performed and documented with the dealer. In addition there is now a very rough idle while at a stop. The date on the engine build is just months ahead of the current recall.

See attached document for complaint. On [XXX], I purchased a certified pre-owned 2021 GMC Yukon Denali for $85,481.76. Since then, I've had multiple service appointments prompted by dashboard alerts, OnStar reports, and noticeable engine hesitation and knocking noises while driving. The attached invoices reflect services I paid for based on dealership recommendations to address these issues. Unfortunately, this experience has been convoluted and stressful. I've received conflicting information from GM representatives at 1-866-467-9700 and various dealerships. In fact, several dealerships have expressed strong concerns about the qualifications of the hotline staff to provide accurate guidance regarding the recall. Despite the time, energy, and financial resources I've invested, I remain a loyal GM customer and proud owner of a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado, 2022 Cadillac XT6, 2022 Buick Encore GX, and the affected Yukon Denali. Considering the circumstances and the unresolved issues surrounding this recall, I respectfully request financial compensation close to the original bill of sale amount of $85,481.76. I believe this would be a fair and appropriate gesture given the extent of the stress, inconvenience and cost I've incurred. The contact owns a 2021 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. Prior to the failure, the contact had received a postcard about a potential engine failure linked to the vehicle; however, the contact disregarded the notice. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The dealer performed a diagnostic test and discovered metal shavings at the bottom of the engine oil pan. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) and linked the failure to the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was then referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer because parts to repair the vehicle were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

While my wife was driving to pickup my son from school, the vehicle was stopped at a stoplight and the engine turned off approximately 1 mile after departing the house. After getting the vehicle towed to the dealership because it wouldn’t start, it was determined by the dealership that the engine was seized. The vehicle has 60,500 miles on it and is driven by a suburban woman and has always had all maintenance done at the dealership. The vehicle is parked in our driveway and there are no signs of oil leaks or anything else that would indicate a potential engine failure. This VIN was not recalled with the larger GMC 6.2L engine failure recall, however other 2021 model years were recalled. Recommend immediate expansion of recall due to the unforeseen engine failure while driving with no previous warning lights (oil or check engine) or other indications prior to seizing. This experience indicates that the initial recall was not sufficient enough to locate and identify all of the 6.2L engines affected by the poor quality control issues at GMC.

the electronic solenoid in the valve body failed and it is available for inspection. it was struggling to shift on freeway at speeds of 65 mph and i would lose power. the vehicle was inspected by a gm dealership service man. there were no warning lamps when part started to fail, luckily when I parked the vehicle would not go into gear and then the warning light (check engine light) came on.

A valve in the transmission is sticking causing a loss of power, engine light warnings to flash, and hard gear shifts from park to drive or reverse. First occurred on 5/25/25, went to the dealer service department on 5/26/25. Part still not available and it’s been sitting at the dealership since.

My Denali had no previous problems, I pull out of the driveway and I felt a hard Lunge forward without me pushing the gas. Almost like the car accelerated like a hard jerk. I pulled over because I thought I had been hit by another car. After checking no cars around, I pull back out and I felt it again a hard lunge forward. If someone would have been in front of me I would have hit the car in front of me without even pushing the gas. These GMC are dangerous and can’t trust my vehicle. After getting stranded on the road found out the transmission went out. My suv is now being repaired at GMC at my expense. Only had the vehicle 6 months. Recall the transmission.

Vehicle would not start. Vehicle was towed to GMC dealership for inspection. Vehicle diagnosed with "Fuel Pump Driver Control Module" issue and needed to be replaced. This was a known issue for the 2021 GMC Yukon: GMC Service Bulletin: #24-NA-139 (Release Date August 2024) Emission Recall: N212332040 (Release Date September 2021) Emission Recall: N252516900 (Release Date September 2025) However, this VIN was not covered under the recalls and payment was required out of pocket. Recall(s) need to be expanded to include additional 2021 GMC Yukon VINs - including this one.

While driving back home on the highway (I-95) on February 26, 2025, my truck stopped accelerating right in the middle of the highway and cut off. Tried to crank it back up to no avail. I had it towed to the nearest GMC dealer which is GMC Coral Springs. They did an inspection and immediately communicated that the fuel pump module had failed and needed to be replaced. The only option at the time was to just have it fixed because I was out of warranty. At the time, I had about 100k miles on it and the guy at the dealer told me that he's supriesed it lasted that long as those modules usually go out before 100k mile. I got it fix and on March 1, 2025, the truck was ready for pickup. Fast forwarding, now GMC is recalling the 2021 Yukon with recall N252516900 for the same EXACT issue. I spoke to GMC corporate this morning to see if I can be reimbursed for the cost. When the rep Tina ran my vin, she states my vin wasn't attached to the recall number. So I was trying to understand that the issues are the same, why can't they reimburse me. Same issue on the same year truck. GMC refused to help me. I'm so disappointed because I'm not even sure why my truck wasn't included in the recall but has the same issue. I need your help. Please and thank you. (I contacted the dealer to have the email me a copy of my invoice for the service at the time, however I haven't received it. I will contact them again to see if they can email it again. But I will obtain a copy of it even if I have to drive out ther)

My vehicle fuel pump control module has failed. GMC has an open recall for my year, make and model however claims that my vehicle is not listed on the recall list that came out around 9/15/2025. I contacted GMC and they cannot provide me with a specific reason as to why it’s not included.

My 2021 Yukon Denali (83264 miles), Fuel Pump Control Module failed causing car to lock up without any warning as my son was turning vehicle onto a main street. Car would not restart and wasn’t able to be put into Neutral to push it to side of road to a safer location. Police came and put cones around it until tow truck came the next morning. Tow operator got it onto a flatbed, which was difficult due to weight of the vehicle and not being able to put into Neutral (fortunately it was in 2wd which helped). It scares me to think what would’ve have happened if my son had been on the busy highway that he was planning to be on the next day or when it was on earlier that day. Vehicle is still at the dealership waiting on the replacement part which apparently is hard to get.

While driving the vehicle shut off, leaving my family stranded in the middle of traffic. It was a 90+ degree day and my family was stuck in a hot car unable to move off the roadway. This was very unsafe. No warning lights prior, the engine just stopped. After multiple times trying to restart the vehicle, the battery died. After waiting several hours, the vehicle was towed to the local dealership where it was determined that the driver fuel control module needed replaced and re programmed.

On November 14,2025 my engine failed on the highway going 80 mph to 0 mph in the passing lane. Almost caused a major accident on US23. I’ve asked my dealership Bowman Chevrolet repeatedly to inspect my engine for the recall and have been denied every time. Most recent was October when I had my oil changed and I was told it wasn’t my turn and the recall for my vehicle was pending. I had my vehicle flatbed towed to the dealership where it sits dead in their parking lot. Thank God we didn’t die on the freeway that night. It was a horrible experience.

My 2021 GMC Yukon Denali is affected by NHTSA Recall #25V-274. The recall notice states that defects in the engine’s connecting rod and/or crankshaft can cause engine damage and failure, resulting in sudden loss of propulsion and increasing crash risk. The recall status for my vehicle is currently listed as “Incomplete – Remedy Not Available.” My dealership confirmed that no repair is available and further told me that GMC will not authorize a buyback, trade-in, or loaner vehicle until a remedy is developed. This has left me with an unsafe vehicle that cannot be repaired, yet I am still obligated to make monthly payments. This defect creates a serious crash risk because the engine may fail and the vehicle could lose all propulsion without warning. My family is forced to either risk driving a defective vehicle or go without reliable transportation. Dealer Interaction •Dealer confirmed that the recall is active but has no available remedy. •Dealer stated GMC will not authorize a buyback, trade-in, or loaner vehicle until the recall repair is developed. •I am effectively stranded with an unsafe vehicle and no safe options. Remedy I am requesting that GMC be required to: 1.Buy back my vehicle under federal recall and warranty obligations; or 2.Provide a safe, comparable loaner or replacement vehicle at no cost until the defect is remedied. If a loaner is provided, I will continue making my monthly payments on my Yukon Denali.

My vehicle is currently in repair due to a known issue with GM. GM has put out a Technical Service Bulletin 20-NA-038 referencing a "well-known" problem with Cylinder 5 failing in 2021 5.3L and 6.0L engines. However, there has not been a recall. Ironically, there were other vehicles brought to the dealership (Sam Boswell GMC in Enterprise, AL) for the same repair on the same day as my vehicle. I'm hoping to get an initiative started for a recall

I have again taken my vehicle in for about 8th time trying to get an understanding of why my vehicle vibrates. Again, I was told that the problem could not be duplicated. However, when picking up, I had a discussion with the service manager whom had driven the vehicle as well.. He stated that he felt and heard something from the rear end. I explained that I had the differential fluid change about 2 months ago due to a growling noise when making a left turn. He printed the service bulletin for the differential and put it with my paper. I was told I would receive a call from him the following Monday to bring my truck back in to further investigate because it sounded like the vehicle has a bad rear end. I have not received a call back and have attempted to make contact with service manager twice. My powertrain warranty is almost up and fear that after is when they will finally make a diagnosis of the issue. My engine and transmission vibrates and the whole vehicle shakes when cranking and turning off. This is in addition when driving at any speed. At idle it vibrates and can be felt throughout the entire vehicle. I am afraid that this vehicle is going to stall or fail why traveling with my family. The problem is only getting worst, transmission fluid temperature is starting to rise higher than normal. I am just afraid at this point that I have wasted thousands of dollars on a vehicle and GMC is not willing to fix the problem. I have the L87 and just not understanding with the problems I am having why my truck hasn't been recalled. It was built before 07/2021 when the Arlington plant had to stop make on rear axle drive shaft for propulsion. This truck is a safety hazard. 3rd notice to NHTSA

Roof leak on 2021 Yukon w/ moonroof. Happened during an intense ice/rain storm while vehicle was parked on an incline with the front end up and rear end down. Water poured in through all 3 rows, including the headliner, dome lighting, front dash electronic panel on PSG side, and lastly the trunk. Dealer inspected the issue 4 days later, in which they water tested the vehicle with a garden hose indoors in a garage bay when temperatures are above 65 degrees, and on a flat floor. They stated they could not replicate the issue, which of course they couldnt because the dealer does not have the proper testing capabilities to do cold weather testing. They put my vehicle outdoors and allowed snow to fail and melt and it didnt have water come in, which was also above 36 degrees and on a flat parking lot. Dealer was not able to fix the problem and would not replace the headliner, even based on the video evidence I had of the water slooshing in the headliner and pouring out of the dome lights and onto the seats in all 3 rows.

Water from the A/C system is not draining properly and causing water to collect under the carpet on drivers side, leading to mold, bacteria and potentially harmful to people with respiratory issues. Crash: 1

There are apparently a couple of faults affecting the SRS and leading to a periodic airbag light and "Service SRS" warning. GM has issued/revised a few Service Bulletins related to this warning. Some are related to software, some are related to overhead wiring, some are related to the clock spring in the steering wheel, and some are related to the driver's side airbag module. My understanding is that when the SRS warning appears, all airbags are disabled and GM says we drive our vehicles at our own risk. To my knowledge this has affected several models of approximately 2021-2023 GMC (Yukon and Sierra) and Chevrolet (Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado) SUVs and trucks.

On 05.29.25 my 2021 GMC Yukon Denali with 24,000 experienced engine issues and ultimately a total failure. While driving at 65 miles an hour the engine light began blinking and a thumping/knocking noise began on the front passenger side of the vehicle. I was 1 mile away from the GM dealership and went there immediately. They called me two hours later confirming the engine failure and that it would have to be replaced. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND UPON TURNING IT ON A MESSAGE SHOWED UP ON THE DISPLAY STATING TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE AND TO DRIVE CAREFULLY BECAUSE OF A POWER STEERING ISSUE. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN REVERSE TO BEGIN TO LEAVE THE PARKING SPOT, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THERE WAS NO STEERING AVAILABLE ON THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD ONLY MOVE FORWARD AND BACKWARDS BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE IN ANY DIRECTION AT ANY DEGREE MAKING THE VEHICLE IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE SAFELY OR CAREFULLY TO ANY LOCATION. ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AND ULTIMATELY WAS IMPOSSIBLE SO WE DECIDED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED US THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM/SOFTWARE AND THAT THE VEHICLE HAD MANY MORE HISTORY CODES FOR THIS ISSUE. AFTER INFORMING US THAT THE UPDATE FOR THE STEERING SYSTEM WAS COMPLETED, THEY ALSO SAID IT MAY NOT BE THE FIX BASED ON THE MULTIPLE HISTORY CODES. THE CAR IS STILL BEING INSPECTED AS THEY ARE UNABLE TO BE SURE THE CAUSE OR THAT IT WILL NOT OCCUR AGAIN. RECORDS OF SERVICE CAN BE PROVIDED ONCE THE VEHICLE IS RETURNED TO US AND MESSAGES OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CAN ALSO BE PROVIDED UPON REQUEST.

On [XXX] driving to Denver the 52,000 mile yukon started making a clicking sound when accelerating on the interstate. Traction control light came on as well as the check engine light. Low power was noticed and we immediately pulled over as it sounded like it was going to blow up. Towed the vehicle 145 miles where we bought it and the shop confirmed the lifters and 5th cylinder are the issue and that the cams could be damaged. Recommend replacing each side. The car is basically new and under the 60K drive train warranty but about 100 days past the 5 year mark. Terrible timing. After noticing a "groaning/moaning" sound from the vehicle when turning sharp at low speeds the vehicle was brought into a dealership to be inspected. After inspection, the mechanic stated that the sound is coming from the rear differential and that it would need to be flushed/cleaned up to three times as a potential correction. If the clean/flush does not correct the issue, they would need to replace the entire rear differential. When asked what happens if the rear differential fails, we were advised that we could experience total failure and lock up. This is a safety issue in that if we are driving and the wheels lock up the potential for collision or major accidents is high. I also understand that the differential is meant to last the life of the vehicle and had 123k miles, the life of the vehicle is far from over. Another issue we are experiencing is excessive oil burning. The vehicle "add engine oil" light comes on after 2,500 miles when being regularly maintenanced. The vehicle should not require the addition of oil after that many miles, more so should not require oil at all unless you weren't properly maintaining the vehicle (which is not the case). I understand issues arise and things happen; I just want this to be acknowledged as a potential safety issue and corrected. Thank you,

Hello, I am a Repair Technician for a General Motors dealership in Reno NV. vehicle in question has no ability to to placed in neutral without the engine running. per GM repair guides the vehicle must either be placed in neutral with engine running or a special tool is needed to placed trans into neutral in to move vehicle. this is a major safety concern as vehicle became engine became disabled and the vehicle could not be moved. steering is locked, parking brake automatically sets and neutral position on gear selector cannot be selected. this happened at our dealership. but i can only imagine this happening to someone on the highway. stuck blocking the road with no ability to move the vehicle to safety. i feel this is extremely dangerous and i am sending an email to General motors technical assistance also.

“Service safety restraint” light comes on and the dealership cannot pin point exactly what the issue is without taking the entire seat and air bag out. It’s come on 3 times. First time was linked to the overhead console needing replaced. Months later the light came on again and a seat harness connection was bad. It was replaced and light was off. 8 months later the light is back on again and they replaced the connection again and the light is off for now. This is a safety issue and should be a recall!

I attempted to start my vehicle and it turned over and at the end of trying it sounded like it wanted to start. This repeated itself with no change. I contacted the dealer which I purchased it from and the service mgr said it was the fuel pump control module. Numerous 2021 Yukon had this problem and there is both a service bulletin and a recall for this part. N212332040. My vehicle is NOT on recall. I attempted to have it towed to the local Chevy dealer and was unable to as NO local tow company had the tool to put the transmission in neutral. They all wanted to drag it onto the trailer. Bad design that it can not be put in park if it’s not running. I purchased a replacement fuel pump control module part 13554821 from the dealership. I installed it and the problem was fixed. I have the defective part if needed. This would have been much more of an issue if it happened anywhere other than my house, especially with the inability to put he transmission in neutral !!

While on a red light and foot on the break, the car turned off completely and would not turn back on after many tries. Truck was towed but mechanic did not find any issues with vehicle as he turned it on with no issues. All lights flashed and indicated battery was low but was not warned prior. The previous week, the truck shut off completely as well but it turned on quickly.

Vehicle: 2021 GMC Yukon Denali Component: Fuel System, Gasoline – Fuel Pump Control Module Incident Date: 7-10-2025 Mileage 61,263 Location: SR 2006 Coats, NC Summary of Complaint: While my wife was pulling out of our neighborhood in our 2021 Yukon Denali, the vehicle suddenly shut off while navigating a slight curve. It came to a complete stop in the roadway and could not be restarted. The engine would not crank, and the vehicle could not be shifted into neutral, making it impossible to move out of traffic. The Yukon remained disabled in the roadway for over an hour and ultimately had to be towed. Upon inspection, the dealership mechanic immediately identified the issue without even running diagnostics. He confirmed it was a failed fuel pump control module, which he stated is a common issue with this model. This failure represents a serious safety risk, particularly had it occurred on a high-speed interstate or in dense traffic. A sudden loss of power and inability to move the vehicle can result in dangerous roadside situations or collisions. GMC needs to address this recurring defect before it leads to more severe incidents or injuries. No warning lights or indicators appeared prior to the failure.

The vehicle had a sudden loss power shortly after i started the vehicle. When I pressed down the gas pedal, the vehicle turned off. It was only a 20 mph zoned residential neighborhood so I was able to safely coast to the side of the road. I dont think i could have safely gotten to the side of the road if it had been on any type of a multi lane road. There was no warning, no lights, no sounds that there was a problem. I had the truck towed to the local dealership as i was 120 miles from home. The mechanic at dealership said it was a faulty “fuel pump power control module“ and that they are failing a lot. Last I heard that the part was on nationwide back order. There was a recall for this very same problem over a year ago but my vehicle is not part of the recall. Yet the problems are still occurring with many similar vehicles (Tahoe / Yukon)

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that upon the start of the vehicle, the vehicle independently reversed without warning upon touching the gear shifter. The vehicle first reversed into a cement barrier and then lunged forward into an intersection while she repeatedly depressed her brake pedal to no avail. The contact managed to call 911 and while speaking with an operator, she was able to regain control of the vehicle. The contact crashed into a parked vehicle as well as a barrier during the failure. Once the contact regained control of the vehicle, she pulled into a gas station where she was met by police. A police report was filed. The contact suffered mental anguish as a result of the failure. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer where they were unable to duplicate or diagnose the failure. The vehicle was then towed to an independent body shop where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The VIN was not available.

I was driving and a message popped up "Service Traction Control", then another message popped up "Forward Collision System Unavailable". Then the car started making this knocking sound and every time I would try and accelerate there would be a loud sound and almost a pulling stopping it from picking up much speed. I took the car into the dealer/repair shop and they said it was an issue with the lifters that had to be replaced and potentially an issue with the cam. They said this repair would cost upwards of $6,000 and I have never had this issue with the car before. This came out of nowhere and the car had not been showing any signs of this occurring before. This is a 2021 GMC Yukon and I drive my Wife and three sons in that car daily.

Vehicle: 2021 GMC Denali Mileage: ~48,000 miles Purchase Price: $62,000 Issue: Airbags & crash sensors failed to deploy Complaint Text: I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2021 GMC Denali. I was involved in a rear-end collision at approximately 45 mph, where I struck another vehicle straight on from behind. The impact was severe enough to total my vehicle, yet no airbags deployed, and no forward collision warning or crash sensor systems activated. This is especially concerning because this vehicle was previously involved in a front-end collision (not my fault) and underwent extensive repairs. I was assured all systems were repaired and functioning properly. Additionally, my vehicle had completed recall work related to safety systems prior to this crash. This is the second front-end crash involving this vehicle where airbags failed to deploy. Given the speed and severity of the impact, airbags should have deployed. The failure of these systems placed my life at serious risk. The vehicle has since been totaled and taken by insurance, but I am requesting that this failure be formally investigated as a potential safety defect in the airbag and sensor systems. I am extremely concerned that the vehicle’s safety systems were either defective or not properly restored following repairs and recalls.

While driving vehicle on 11/08/2025, vehicle made a popping noise and loss power. We were out of town and had to pay out of pocket to have vehicle towed to a dealership and hour away from our home. Dealership diagnosed issue with engine failure due to lifter fell and caused damage to cam shaft and bore. I will be without a vehicle for an additional 2 to 4 weeks waiting on a back ordered engine from GM, and continue making payments on vehicle as well. This issue seems to be an ongoing problem that GM is ignoring…….GM should compensate towing, car rental, and repair/ replacement charges due to failure.

I’m not happy with just a change in oil viscosity because the car has already been on the road for 70000 miles before we were aware of the recall on the engine. Changing the oil viscosity doesn’t help when there is a underlying engine problem it should be replaced not just change your oil and send you on your way because now I’m always wondering and worried if the engine will still fail when my kids and wife are in the car. Furthermore I just had it inspected and the oil changed to new viscosity a week ago and the oil level is already half way on the dipstick so I’m taking back to the dealership to express my concern. If I would have known this was going to be an issue with this suv I would have purchased something else. I’d just like the engine replaced so that I don’t have to worry every time I pull out of the driveway with my family. My power steering assist still whines and there is no open recall on it. I think GMC should be responsible for replacing engines and power steering assembly and power steering motors on 2021 GMC YUKON DENALIS because of the wear and tear they have endured before the recall was taken care of by adding a different viscosity oil because the damage has already been done.

I purchased the vehicle in July 2024. I drove the car for 10 days, and when I was driving 65 mph, the check engine light blinked three times and then went off. After that, the engine made a sound that was not there before. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they had the car for many weeks, concluding that the lifters broke and the engine needed to be replaced. The dealership said they replaced the engine and the car was returned to me towards the end of August. Since then, the AC has been worked on three different times in the past year and on the third attempt, there is finally cool air coming out of the driver's air vents. The driver's seat AC blowers malfunctioned and were repaired. The dealership put the original engine's belt back on and then broke. The electric system inside glitches from time to time when you first start the car. The front windshield wipers will randomly swipe while driving. After getting a regular oil change, the car sprang an oil leak due to the cap not being tight enough. Over the past 5 months, there has been a random popping sound in the front driver's side area when coming to a stop that two dealerships can not figure out. The belt in the engine still makes a high-pitched sound when first starting up and lasts for about 1 minute. While in park or sitting at a light, the engine will idle up and down from time to time. The vehicle has been worked on by the dealership where it was purchased and also a GMC dealership.

In January 2021, I purchased a new 2021 GMC Yukon Denali from a GMC dealership, which currently has only about 27,000 miles. To date, several recalls have been assigned and completed for my vehicle. per the websites for GMC and your agency. However, based on published recalls for my vehicle and a repair that is currently underway, I have reason to believe that my vehicle should have been subject to three prior recalls for which it was not [NHTSA ID Numbers: 20V735000 (Front Seat Bolts), 25V274000 (V8 Engine Failure, and 21V739000 (Fuel Power Control Module] Currently, the fuel pump control module is being replaced at a local GMC dealership because it failed last week and left my stranded at home. GMC issued a recall for this in 2021, but my vehicle was not included. Aside from risk and inconvenience, this is also costing my over $300 for a rental. Secondly, though my vehicle's make/model/year is cited in GMC's ongoing engine failure recall, which you are investigating, I have not received a recall notice. I note GMC's financial interest in minimizing vehicle's it recalls for such a costly repair. I have inquired with GMC and two of its dealers and have only received reiterations that my vehicle has not been subject to GMC's recall, which I already knew. I have not been given any explanation for why my Yukon has not been recalled despite my inquiries. Lastly, GMC issued a 2021 recall for front seat bolts; however, I did not receive a notice for my Yukon. I have occasionally felt slight movement in the driver's seat since buying the vehicle. Based on reason and facts, I am alleging that GMC appears to be artificially minimizing recalls and notifications for vehicles that are in fact impacted by defects in their vehicles.

The problem still is not fixed. They’re telling us there is something wrong and are aware of the recall and won’t fix the problem dealership refuses to take the car they don’t want it without the recall fixed due to safety concerns. you can definitely fill it when you drive I’m not exactly sure what the other issue if with the sounds it’s making when the issue keeps happening but it’s scary There is the recall on it. The engine and transmission shakes and they say all this normal. Vibration occurs throughout vehicle at idle or driving at any speed. Also, rpm hand slightly moves up and down while idling in park. The vibration is more prominent in 2 and 3 row seats. I have taken it in about 7 or 8 times for the same issue to 4 different dealerships. Only one has actually felt the issue and visually saw the vibration/hop in rear of vehicle. The technician could not determine the problem as GM only allowed a visual inspection. He was not allowed to take anything apart so I am still left with the issue and it is getting worse. In addition, vehicle taken to collision shop to inspect frame, vehicle was within spec. Vehicle is now back at another dealership to address the issue. The only thing that all the dealerships have done is road force balance tires, alignment, and changed out driveshaft axle from a prior recall. I paid to have to have a differential fluid change still has vibration. At this point, it is concerning because as I stated the problem is getting worse. Also, dealers are looking for a computerized answer and I dont think a powertrain issue will be diagnosed this way. My truck should be under recalls but none has applied to it.

Complete failure of infotainment system in cold weather. This is a safety concern because most controls are operated through the infotainment system and can de distracting to a driver who is trying to operate all features of a vehicle while driving. My vehicle has software that controls the rear gate, cameras, and my safety features for blind spots—seat buzzer to warn of collisions and voice activated phone system. I recently had a safety recall involving my back wheels locking up during driving. I had the recall done by Power Chevrolet and it affected my cameras, which I noticed were longer accurate immediately after leaving the dealership. My seat buzzer kept buzzing warning me of a collision due to the cameras inaccuracy. I am unsure if it affected my blind spot warning but my car was unsafe to drive as the safety features fill in many blind spots in this big vehicle. Additionally I had been having issues with my back gate opening when it should not resulting in two stops to close it— one in Costco and one on [XXX] outside of Philomath, Oregon. These are safety issues. To get the software issues resolved, it cost an additional $210 for the updates and my back gate is still not fixed and no solution is offered. My fear is that people will be unaware their cameras or safety features are no longer properly calibrated and hit something or even worse, be unable to pay for software updates to make these features functional resulting in more crashes. I was unaware of the software updates ( I did all updates GMC pushed) needed to be done and this just continues on with more software updates to be released requiring future payments. I bought this car new and this was not disclosed or even discussed. GMC can push down updates that make other updates necessary and be an unending source of revenue for them. Oregon just passed a right to repair law but cars are exempt. This will result in unsafe vehicles on the road. My oil change cost me $350 with $210 the software updates. What were these safety related updates not done as recalls? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

POWER TRAIN,WHEELS,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
Upon cold start vehicle rattles when idling down and growling noise when accelerating upon left or right turns. Also, has constant vibrations with sound of metal rattling at speeds above 30 mph. Forward collision light on without a significant amount of mileage on vehicle. I have taken my vehicle to dealership at least 5 times referencing the vibrations. Growling noise was heard by service advisor last visit October 2024, and he stated it probably were the tires. I advised him that brand new tires were put on vehicle, April 18th 2024, rear vibration has never stopped from time of purchase. I have asked dealership to check drivetrain as it is a know issue for 21 Yukon Denali. Vehicle has not received recall but was manufactured at Arlington plant where the parts of the drive shaft was not properly heated and differential is known for issue upon cold start. Vehicle powertrain warranty is due to expire August 2025 or 60,045 mileage. Therefore with that, the vehicle was placed in service August 2020 months before unproperly heated driveshaft recall was determined. My vehicle should be on the list for this recall as GMC noted this to have occurred on vehicle prior to 07/2021. In addition, a chirping noise comes from front of vehicle while idling and when automatic stop starts back up.There are already known recalls for two of issues noted above.

While driving the car, the glass sunroof spontaneously exploded. It was NOT associated with a rock strike, no other cars were nearby, and the vehicle was not under an overpass. The noise was extremely loud, similar to a gunshot. The sun shade was closed, otherwise broken glass would have showered down on the passengers.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,EXTERIOR LIGHTING
1 complaint
The lighting on the entire interior infotainment area will randomly go bright and dim all by itself. I was almost in an accident on the interstate due to this. It was blinding and distracting to have the lighting dim and then go bright. It has been randomly doing this for about a month. I called GMC and they said they had no record of this happening on other vehicles, however when I searched for the issue with my vehicle, I realized other GMC owners have experienced the same issue. I was able to get a video of it happening one morning while waiting in my driveway to drop my kids off at the bus stop. I was in the parked position. There are no warning or messages when the lighting malfunctions, so I am not at all prepared when the car turns the lighting to MAX brightness. It poses a risk when driving by blinding the driver, causing the driver to loose focus while driving trying to adjust the lighting back to dim. It is an unnecessary distraction. The dealership couldn't confirm any malfunctions in my car. As previously stated, I have a video of the malfunction, but I am not able to upload it. I am willing to send via email.

I was driving about 40 mph on a rural road when my vehicle stalled. I thought I was out of gas but I wasn’t. I tried to turn it around but I had no power. I pressed the gas but it would not do anything . It would not crank back up. I called my husband and he came and put gas in it and it still wouldn’t work. I was left stranded in the middle of the road on a curve. No warning lamps were on that I could recall. I’m having it towed to the dealer today. There are 39K miles on the car.

Service Safety Restrain System message keeps appearing after taking to dealer a few times. It will go off and on intermittantly and not sure the airbags are actually functional. I own a 2021 GMC Yukon Denali that had TOTAL BRAKE FALIURE last Tuesday. I had it towed to a local GMC dealer and are repairing it under warranty. I was lucky to be on a back road when my brakes went out. I had no warning lights come on prior to hitting the brake pedal and was able to coast to a stop on the shoulder When I applied the brakes, the pedal went to the floor and did nothing. You can't stop the car with the parking brake because it is electric. My concern is what if I was on a busy road when this happened or what if this happens to a family in traffic they could be seriously hurt or worse yet killed. I do have good photos of my instrument panel with all of the warning lights coming on after I tried to stop. In good conscience feel that I have to at least try and report this to GM, the state and anyone else that will listen. If nothing comes of this at least I tried and just hope no one gets hurt if this happens again. My wife refuses to ride in that vehicle until I have solid answers. The dealer said they will have my car repaired this week and are replacing the master cylinder and ECS This is fine but why did it happen and how can I be sure it won't happen again? I believe in GM and have a 2023 Yukon Denali on order. I would hope that after 3 years of this model they have most of the little quirks worked out. A rep from GM did contact me and at first was talking about buying my car back but changed that today. My case number is 9-8497380349 . The problem is I have no idea when my new car is coming in our should I just cancel it and find something else. In my opinion this is a very serious problem.

I was involved in a vehicle accident on 10/6/2021 where my vehicle was stuck by an uninsured motorist driving recklessly on the interstate causing a total of 4 car collision. My vehicle was a a 2021 GMC YUKON SLT SUV, in which I was struck on rear drivers side quarter panel and again by another vehicle in the front bumper by another vehicle that struck in the rear bumper by the reckless driver. With my vehicle being struck by two vehicles I was shocked to learn the Onstar safety security features did not detect or contact me regarding the accident. It wasn’t until the wrecker driver arrived to pull my vehicle onto the tow truck that I received a diagnosis notification email from o star about my antilock braking system. Although I was wearing my seat belt, the impact of the collision was very shocking, my chest and neck struck the steering wheel, my glasses were knocked completely off my face on to the passenger side floor board, my personal belongings in the passenger seat, were thrown and scattered over the passenger floor area. Once the emergency authorities were on the scene everything was about over I contacted Onstar via phone, and asked why wasn’t I contacted or my accident detected, and the call taker/on star representative advised me because my airbags wasn’t deployed, they did not receive a notification or alert regarding my emergency. I have attempted to make contact with Onstar several times since the accident and as of today I have yet to get an answer of why my air bags did deploy and why the emergency sensors did detect the impact notify emergency services as this is a feature that i was charged for monthly and added protection that I counted on to assist me but very much failed me at my time of need.

On Friday October 22, 2021 around 7:20am as I was driving my children to school I was driving around 40 mph when suddenly I received an alert on the dashboard saying “brake system fail”, I then proceeded to brake to make sure my breaks were working when I noticed they did not work. I then started pumping the gas pedal repeatedly to make the vehicle stop. My car was not stopping and my children and I panicked and started crying. As I was getting closer to a vehicle and ready to crash I swerved the vehicle to the right where it was just an empty lot. I continue to press and pump the brakes until the vehicle came to a complete stop. I took pictures of the dash board once the vehicle was completely off. My Vehicle was towed to my house shortly after. I refuse to drive that vehicle after the terrible experience that jeopardize the life of my children and myself. We have suffered emotional distress.

TRAVELLING DOWN THE HIGHWAY 69 MPH WITH MY WIFE AND THREE SMALL CHILDREN WHEN THE DASH FLASHED MULTIPLE ERROR CODES, ENGINE SPEED LIMITED TO 62 MPH, AND BRAKES ESSENTIALLY WENT OUT. WAS ABLE TO GET SAFELY STOPPED. CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED SHUTTING IT OFF FOR 20 MIN AND IT WOULD "RESET". IT DID NOT RESET AND WE REFUSED TO DRIVE IT IN SUCH UNSAFE CIRCUMSTANCES WITHOUT ADEQUATE BRAKE FUNCTION ETC. GMC ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE CAME AND TOWED IT AWAY. COULD HAVE RESULTED IN MUCH WORSE OUTCOMES AND WE ARE THANKFUL NO ONE WAS INJURED. VERY NERVOUS TO DRIVE IT AGAIN AFTER WE GET IT BACK, NOT KNOWING IF IT WILL MALFUNCTION AGAIN.
