The SRS light has come on in our 2001 Honda CR-V. Diagnostics at the dealership revealed that the control module is defective, and Honda does not cover its replacement. This is a safety issue, as the airbags will not deploy with the SRS light on. Honda should be responsible for this. Please issue a recall. It appears this issue has been occurring for several years.

The contact owned a 2001 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, another vehicle had run a stop sign and the contact's vehicle crashed into the rear driver side door of the other vehicle. None of the air bags deployed upon impact. No medical attention was received. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a gas station. The insurance company had not inspected the vehicle to deem it totaled. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Prior to the failure, the vehicle had a NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V027000 (Air Bags) recall repaired by the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 146,000. The VIN was unavailable.

NHTSA RECALL 20V-027. HONDA HAS NOT REMEDIED THE DEFECT WITHIN 60 DAYS FROM THE DATE I FIRST CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR A REPAIR APPOINTMENT. I FIRST CONTACTED HONDA ON 8-19-2020, AND THEY HAD ME TAKE THE CAR IN ON 10-24-2020 TO TAKE PICTURES. THEY INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD CALL ME BACK TO HAVE ME COME BACK IN TO DO THE REPAIR, BUT EACH TIME THAT I CALL TO CHECK, THEY SAY "WE WILL CALL YOU WHEN WE ARE READY." TODAY IS 1-20-2021.

HONDA HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN (03-038) FOR A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CYLINDER HEAD. IN SEARCHING ONLINE, MANY HONDA CUSTOMERS WITH CR-V'S MANUFACTURED IN 2001 HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. THE REMEDY (AS DEFINED BY HONDA) IS TO ADJUST THE VALVES TO SPECIFIC CLEARANCES DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, BUT THIS INFORMATION WAS NOT PASSED DOWN TO CUSTOMERS & MANY ARE FINDING THEMSELVES IN MY SAME SITUATION WITH THE ENTIRE CYLINDER HEAD NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO, THE RARELY-USED AIR CONDITIONER STARTED MAKING A HORRIBLE RACKET IMMEDIATELY ON STARTING IT. I STOPPED USING IT IMMEDIATELY, AND CHECK PERIODICALLY TO SEE IF IT'S STILL BROKEN. IT IS. ON ABOUT APRIL, 2009 IN OUR 2001 HONDA CRV , WITH 68,000 MILES ON IT. MY WIFE WAS 60 MILES FROM HOME WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONAL BLEW UP. THE AIR COMPRESS, RECIVER DRYER, BELT ALL CAME TO $1,600. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 HONDA CR-V. HE STATED THAT INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL THEN THE ENGINE MISFIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY. THE MECHANIC CONCLUDED THAT THE ENGINE VALVES BURNED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, AND A REPRESENTATIVE CONCLUDED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM; HOWEVER, SINCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. I PURCHASED A NEW 2001 HONDA, ODYSSEY IN MAY OF 2001. AS OF TODAY, MAY 2005, I AM PRESENTLY AWAITING MY 5TH TRANSMISSION TO BE PUT IN THE VAN. MY CAR MEETS ALL OF THE ELEMENTS NECESSARY TO QUALIFY AS LEMON UNDER THE CALIFORNIA CIVIL CODE, AND AMERICAN HONDA REFUSES TO BUY BACK THE CAR. THEY PREFER TO BE SUED. I PAID $32,000.00 FOR THIS VAN, AND THEY WILL NOT DO THE DECENT THING. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA AGAIN.

OUR CAR HAD A BURNT VALVE LAST YEAR AT ABOUT 90000 MILES. WE BROUGHT IT TO A NAPA MACHINE SHOP AND HAD IT RE-MACHINED. ABOUT A MONTH AGO WE HAD IT REPAIRED AT OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER. THEY READJUSTED THE VALVES WHICH THEY SAID WERE WAY TOO TIGHT. THE CAR IS STALLING AGAIN AND IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART. THEY REFERENCED HONDA TECHNICAL BULLETIN 03-038. IN RESEARCHING THIS VIA GOOGLE, IT APPEARS HONDA FAILED TO ADVISE AMERICAN-BUT NOT EUROPEAN-CUSTOMERS OF A VALVE ADJUSTMENT NEED THAT RESULTS IN VALVES RECEDING INTO THE CYLINDER HEADS.

WHILE DRIVING MY HONDA ON THE FREEWAY TWO DAYS AFTER A HEAVY RAIN, I SMELLED A NAUSEATING BURNING ODOR. I PRESSED THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH TO LOWER WINDOWS. THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. THIS HAD OCCURRED SOME TIME AGO WITH THE DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW. I CHECKED HONDA RECALLS AND THERE IS ONE THAT MATCHES EXACTLY MY CIRCUMSTANCES, 12-067, BUT MY VIN IS NOT ELIGIBLE.THE RECALL STATES THAT WATER CAN DAMAGE THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH, CREATE A SHORT CIRCUIT AND MELT CONNECTORS, POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE. TIPTON HONDA, EL CAJON CA, TECHNICIAN FOUND MASTER SWITCH INTERNAL CIRCUIT DAMAGE AND UNPLUGGED IT .HE WOULD HAVE REPLACED IT BUT TIPTON DID NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY PARTS. MY 2001 HONDA CR-V AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR IMPLODED AND SENT SHARDS OF METAL INTO THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. THIS WAS WITHOUT WARNING, AS I JUST HAD MY AIR CONDITIONING SERVICED BY THE HONDA DEALERSHIP A MONTH AGO. I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH HONDA CR-VS AND THAT HONDA AMERICA HAS NOT ADDRESSED THIS MAJOR DEFECT. I AM ESPECIALLY CONCERNED BECAUSE I LIVE IN ARIZONA, AND THE TEMPERATURE IS 108 DEGREES, WITH 113 PREDICTED FOR THE WEEKEND. THIS MAKES THE DEFECT VERY DANGEROUS. I AM PART OF A NON-PROFIT RESCUE GROUP AND REGULARLY TRANSPORT PETS; THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY IF IT HAPPENED WITH BABY KITTENS OR PUPPIES IN THE CAR. THE HONDA SERVICE SHOT SAID THEY TALKED WITH THE HONDA AMERICA REPRESENTATIVE AND THAT HE WOULD NOT COVER ANY OF THE REPAIRS, DESPITE IT BEING A WIDESPREAD DEFECT AND DESPITE THE FACT THAT THERE IS A LAWSUIT PENDING FOR THIS DEFECT. THE REPAIR WAS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE, AND AGAIN, I JUST HAD THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM SERVICED AT THE SAME HONDA SERVICE SHOP THAT I HAVE BEEN USING FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS. THE MANUFACTURER ASSIGNED HIM A CASE NUMBER SO THAT ONE OF THEIR ENGINEERS COULD IDENTIFY THE DEFECT. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS, NO ONE CALLED THE CONTACT BACK. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY ASSIGNED HIS CASE TO ANOTHER ENGINEER, IN WHICH NOW THEY DO NOT FEEL IT WAS A DEFECT. I USED THE JACK WITH THE CAR TO CHANGE THE TIRE. I FIRST LOOSENED THE LUG NUTS ON THE GROUND. I RAISED THE CAR WITH THE JACK. WHILE TAKING OFF THE TIRE - THE JACK COLLAPSED CAUSING THE CAR TO FALL. ON APRIL 16,11 BOUGHT BRAND NEW WINDOW MASTER POWER SWITCH & REPLACED THE OLD ONE A WEEK LATER. UP UNTIL YESTERDAY (09/30/11), THE DRIVER'S SIDE & THE TWO BACK WINDOWS WERE WORKING PROPERLY. BUT, THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW IS STILL NOT WORKING. YESTERDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2011, AROUND 3.00 P. IT SEEMS THAT MY HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM AND ONLY BRIGHT WHEN I USE MY HIGH BEAMS. MY HONDA SEEMS TO CUT OFF BY ITSELF AND I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE BATTERY TESTED AND IT SEEMS NOT TO REPLICATE ITS ACTIONS FOR THEM. IT SEEMS THAT MY CAR WILL ACT AS IF IT IS STALLING SOMETIMES AND THEN WILL NOT TURN OVER. I HAVE HAD MY STARTER CHECKED AND THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE SO THE MECHANIC STATED. IT SEEMS THAT MY DEFROSTER DOESN'T WORK AT THE NORMAL TIME THAT IT SHOULD TAKE TO DEFROST. IT TAKES AT LEAST 30 MINUTES TO CLEAR. I HAVE PROBLEMS IN THE REAR SEAT WITH PASSENGERS GETTING OUT OF THE LEFT PASSENGER SEAT BELT. IT SEEMS TO GET STUCK. AND THERE ARE NO OTHER ARTICLES IN THE SNAP TO CAUSE THAT. MY SRS AND ABS LIGHT SEEMS TO STAY ON FOR A COUPLE MINUTES AFTER THE CAR IS STARTED. THEN WHILE DRIVING MY CAR AND APPLYING BREAKS IT SEEMS THAT THE CAR STILL CONTINUES TO SLIDE, IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON 9-13-04. I HAVE TAKEN THE BRAKES TO GET CHECKED.
