My 2002 Honda CRV's ENTIRE Passenger Side Airbag Assembly was REPLACED on 11-20-2019, per Honda. This was done as (per Honda) the Inflator bolt was broken and the applicable part to remedy the recall would not be available for approximately 3 months. An open recall (NHTSA Recall # 19V-501) from 06-27-2019 still is showing on my vehicle - If the ENTIRE Passenger Side Airbag Assembly was replaced on 11-20-2019, there should be no open NHTSA recall on my vehicle issued prior to 11-20-2019.

The contact owned a 2002 Honda CR-V. The contact had received a recall notice for NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V501000 (Air Bags) and had the passenger air bag serviced under the recall at the dealer. On July 4, 2022, the contact heard a loud boom which she assumed was a firework; however, her neighbor informed her that her vehicle had caught fire. The fire department was called and the fire was extinguished. A fire report was filed; no injuries were reported and no property was damaged. A fire technician was sent to her home to investigate the fire; his investigation led him to believe that the passenger air bag had caught fire which caused the failure. The technician suggested the contact call an engineer to officially determine the cause of the fire. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The dealer was also notified of the failure and they informed her that an investigation would be performed. The vehicle was destroyed by the fire. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO LOCAL HONDA DEALER NEARBY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A SERVICE COMPANY IN PUERTO RICO. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THERE ARE THREE NHTSA RECALLS FOR 2002 HONDA CRV - 12V486000, 20V76800 AND 03V422000. HONDA SAYS MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THESE RECALLS, BUT I HAVING ALL THESE ISSUES. I'VE CALLED HONDA AND SPOKEN TO A CSR, AND I'M AT THE DEALERS RIGHT NOW. THEY WON'T HONOR THESE RECALLS, AND ARE CHARGING ME FOR DIAGNOSTICS.

I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE AS NORMAL. PARKED IN A PARKING SPOT WAITING FOR MY PARTNER WITH THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF. WHILE LEAVING I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND WHEN I WENT TO ROLL DOWN THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW USING THE DRIVERS PWMS THE WINDOW WOULD NOT MOVE AND THE SWITCH BEGAN TO SMOKE. I CUT THE POWER AND REMOVED THE FUSES FOR THE POWER WINDOW CIRCUIT TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE. DID NOT TAKE ANY PHOTOS OF THE SMOKE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE PWMS CATCHING FIRE IN 2002-2006 HONDA CR-VS, WHEN I CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY REFUSED WARRANTY SERVICE.

DRIVER DOOR SWITCH ARCING AND MELTING. THE SWITCH WAS REPLACED AND ONLY ONE WINDOW ISNT WORKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. WE RESPONDED TO A SAFETY RECALL ON OUR 2002 HONDA CRV IN 2013 TO REPLACE THE COMBINATION LIGHT SWITCH WHICH MIGHT CAUSE A FIRE OR THE LIGHTS TO GO OUT UNEXPECTEDLY. REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED 30 OCT 2013. IN MARCH 2017 THE ISSUES IDENTIFIED IN THE RECALL WERE EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. THE SWITCH STARTED SMOKING AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. I NOTIFIED THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIRS FOR THE ITEMS TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT YES THIS IS THE ITEM COVERED BY THE RECALL BUT WOULD NOT BE COVERED AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. THIS MADE NO SENSE TO ME BUT AS I HAD TO DRIVE 80 MILES TO RETURN HOME I WENT AHEAD AND PAID. I CONTACTED HONDA AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. THEY RESPONDED THAT THE PARTS THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED WERE NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COSTS. IT SEEMS THAT EVEN IF REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE USED AND THE SAFETY ISSUE STILL HAPPENS AS IDENTIFIED IN THE SAFETY RECALL, THEY SHOULD COVER THE REPAIR COSTS. THEY FELT OTHERWISE.

IN 2006 WITH 66000 MILES AND UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM STARTED TO GIVE OFF BURNING SMELL WHICH CAUSED HEADACHES AND NAUSEA BEFORE THE SYSTEM FAILED COMPLETELY. A/C COMPRESSOR WAS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED AND IT WAS REPLACED. THEN IN AUGUST 2013 WITH 95000 MILES THE UNIT FAILED AGAIN WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND SAME TOXIC FUMES. ON JULY 15TH, THE ENGINE OF OUR CR-V ALL OF A SUDDEN HAD AN EXTRA LOAD ON IT. WE SHUT OFF THE AC AND THE EXTRA LOAD WENT AWAY. THE NEXT DAY, ABOUT 140 MILES INTO A TRIP THE AC STOPPED WORKING. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TWO SEPARATE MECHANICS. THE NON-HONDA MECHANIC SAID THAT THERE WES A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE AC STATING THAT THE COMPLETE AC SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE HONDA MECHANIC STATED ONLY THE COMPRESSOR AND THE CONDENSER HAD TO BE REPLACED. EITHER ONE IS EXTREME MONEY. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR 1999-2001 HONDA ODDYSEYS TRANSMISSIONS, AND THEY STILL DIDN'T FIX IT ON 2002 MODEL. I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM HONDA REGARDING MY 2002 HONDA ODYSSEY. IN THIS LETTER, IT CLEARLY STATES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND WATER PUMP. HENCE I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP AT NORM REEVE'S HONDA - CERRITOS. AFTER HAVING MY CAR AT THE SERVICE CENTER FOR 2 DAYS NOW ( I HAD TO RENT A CAR FROM ENTERPRISE), NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT I NEED TO PAY THEM $3,800 TO REPLACE MY WATER PUMP. I AM VERY UPSET THAT I AM BEING TREATED THIS WAY. THE LETTER CLEARLY STATES THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION, AND THAT ANY SERVICES THAT MIGHT BE NEEDED WILL BE PERFORMED BY HONDA FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE OF THE RECALL. A STATE SAFETY INSPECTOR ADVISED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT IS COMING LOOSE AND COULD COMPLETELY BREAK LOOSE IN AN ACCIDENT. HE SAID IF IT GETS ANY LOOSER IT WILL NOT PASS A SAFETY INSPECTION (VIRGINIA). I HAVE OWNED CARS FOR OVER FORTY YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A CAR SEAT THAT WASN'T SECURED TO THE BODY OF THE CAR FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR. THIS SPECIFIC DEFECT, RELATING TO HONDA CRV'S IS BROADLY REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. SHOULD A CAR SEAT POTENTIALLY BREAKING LOOSE IN AN ACCIDENT NOT BE SUBJECT TO A RECALL?

THE DRIVERS SEAT IS LOOSE. IT ROCKS BACK AND FORTH WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN STILL. IT IS NOT SOLIDLY INSTALLED AND CAN BE SHAKEN TO THE POINT WHERE IT LOOKS LIKE THE SEAT CAN ACTUALLY DETACH FROM ITS MOUNTING. THIS IS DEFINITELY A DEFECT BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THESE SAME SYMPTOMS IN THEIR 2002 HONDA CR-VS.

MY 2002 HONDA CRV'S FRONT DRIVERS SEAT HAS BEEN ROCKING OR MOVING SLIGHTLY AS I DRIVE AROUND. I WENT TO GET MY CRV INSPECTED IN VIRGINIA AS IS REQUIRED EVERY YEAR, BUT WAS REJECTED. HE SAID THE SEAT HAS TO BE FIXED, IT ROCKS. IT SEEMS TO ME IF IT FAILED TO PASS THE VIRGINIA STATE INSPECTION, THEN IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I WENT ON THE HONDA OWNERS CLUB FORUM AND SAW THAT OTHER OWNERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED THE HONDA RECALL CENTER, BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALLS NOR CAMPAIGNS REGARDING LOOSE/ROCKING DRIVER SEATS. IT MUST BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF IT FAILED THE STATE INSPECTION. I'D LIKE FOR HONDA TO FIX MY SEAT SO IT DOES NOT ROCK WITH OUT CHARGE. I HAVE OWNED HONDAS FOR ABOUT 25 YEARS, NOW.

WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STATE HIGHWAY ONTO AN INTERSTATE THE ACCELERATOR STUCK WIDE OPEN. BEFORE I COULD ASSESS THE PROBLEM MY SPEED HAD REACHED 80 MPH. USING THE BRAKES DID NOTHING. I WAS ONLY ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL AND SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN BY TAPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES. IN RESEARCHING CR-V'S I FOUND THAT THE PROBABLE CAUSE IS A BROKEN CRUISE CONTROL CABLE. SMOKE STARTED ARISING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET DURING THE DAYTIME. DRIVER WAS NOT USING LIGHTS AT THE TIME AND WAS USING NORMAL OCCASIONAL TURN SIGNALS FOR A URBAN METROPOLITAN AREA. THE TURN SIGNAL WAS EVALUATED AND SHOWED MELTING OF THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AND THE TERMINAL HARNESS. THIS IS SIMILAR TO WHAT IS DESCRIBED IN NHTSA 12V-136 OR 12V-486. HONDA AMERICA AND HONDA DEALERSHIPS SAID THE 2002 HONDA CR-V WAS NOT INCLUDED, BECAUSE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. WHILE THE ENGINE IS UNDER LOAD IN A 2002 CRV-EX HONDA, IF THE DRIVER PULSES THE BRAKE PEDAL TWICE RAPIDLY THERE IS DRAMATIC BRAKE FAILURE. IN A PANIC STOP, IF THE DRIVER PRESSES ON BOTH THE GAS PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL IN THIS TIMING, THERE WOULD BE NO BRAKING POWER. My front driver side seatbelt is not working properly and never has. I've had trouble getting it to roll into position instead it gets stuck outside the car door.When trying to find it to buckle up. When I unbuckle the seatbelt it Will not roll back into position and when I try to pull to get it to click onto I have trouble getting it to clasp. I've asked the Honda dealership if they could replace it for me without a charge they said no they could not. They suggested making a report and possibly getting special permission to replace it.

The contact owns a 2002 Honda CR-V equipped with Primewell Tires, Tire Line: PF850, Tire Size: 205/70/R15, DOT Number: Y9CDCJTX. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving approximately 40 MPH, the rear driver's side tire became flat. While inspecting the tire it was discovered that the tire had develop a crack which extended from the sidewall to the top of the tire. The contact stated that the same failure had previously occurred with the rear passenger’s side tire. The cause of the failures was not yet determined. The contact owns a 2002 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that when his wife opened the driver’s side door, the driver’s side power window master switch began to release a white smoke. The contact stated that eventually the smoke dissipated. Prior to the failure, the front passenger’s side window was rolled down and could not be rolled up after the failure. The contact initially called the manufacturer and was informed that his vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V768000 (Visibility, Electrical System) which he linked to the failure. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer where they replaced the power window master switch; however, the repair did not correct the failure. The contact was then given an estimate to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 178,000.

THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOW CONTROL IS SHORTING OUT. THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP ALL THE WAY ABOUT A WEEK AGO IT WAS MANUALLY FIXED BY MY HUSBAND BUT THE CONTROLLER ON DRIVER'S SIDE WAS SHORTING OUT. THERE WAS A RECALL ON CERTAIN CRV'S BUT WE NEVER GOT ONE AND NOW OUR CAR IS ACTING UP JUST LIKE THE RECALL. WHEN I CALLED BOTH THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP THAT WE GOT THE VEHICLE FROM AND CALLED DIRECTLY TO HONDA I WAS TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE DIDN'T QUALIFY SINCE IT WAS NOT RECALLED. MY FUEL GAUGE IS NOT ACCURATE: IF THE TANK DROPS TO HALF FULL, THE GAUGE IS UNRELIABLE AND OFTEN REGISTERS MORE OR LESS GAS THAN THERE IS. USUALLY THERE IS LESS GAS THAN THE GAUGE REGISTERS, BUT I'VE FILLED UP THE TANK UNTIL THE TANK CLICKED, AND THE GAUGE STILL READ 3/4 FULL. MY 2002 HONDA CR-V HAS A FUEL FILLER DEFECT WHICH CAUSES THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT TO COME ON. CHANGES IN TEMPERATURE OR OTHER WEATHER RELATED FACTORS CAUSE THE FILLER CAP TO LOOSEN AND THE LIGHT COMES ON. HONDA RECOMMENDS MANUALLY TIGHTENING THE CAP PAST "SEVERAL CLICKS" TO ENSURE A TIGHT SEAL AFTER FUELING. THE CAP LOOSENS ANYWAY ACCOMPANIED BY STRONG GASOLINE FUMES FROM THE LOOSENED CAP. HONDA KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL CAP TWICE AND ONCE GAVE ME A $ 300 ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE PLASTIC GAS TANK FILLER PIPE WHICH IS APPARENTLY THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. TODAY WAS A WARM DAY AND THE LIGHT WAS ON ALL DAY AS I DROVE. THE ISSUE IS THIS: IF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OFTEN COMES ON SPURIOUSLY, A DRIVER DOESN'T PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT MAY BE A LEGITIMATE WARNING FOR A SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE SAFETY IMPLICATIONS. WHILE DRIVING AWAY FROM A RIVERSIDE CAMPSITE, TRIED TO STRADDLE SOME RUTS ON THE ACCESS ROAD. VEHICLE SLIPPED INTO THE RUTS AND BOTTOMED OUT SLIGHTLY, BUT I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE OUT AND DID NOT GET STUCK. THE BRACKET DIRECTLY BEHIND THE GAS TANK ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE, WHICH HOLDS FUEL SYSTEM RELATED COMPONENTS, WAS ALMOST RIPPED OFF BY THIS MINOR CONTACT. IT IS THE LOWEST PART OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND VERY VULNERABLE TO DAMAGE WITHOUT ANY SORT OF PROTECTION. 2 OF 3 MOUNTS WERE RIPPED LOOSE, AND THE ASSEMBLY WAS BENT BACK TO RUB ON THE REAR AXLE AND HANG DOWN EVEN LOWER. THIS PROBLEM WAS REPORTED BY OTHER VR-V DRIVERS WHO HAD TO NAVIGATE DEEP SNOW AND SAND. SENSITIVE FUEL SYSTEM PARTS SHOULD NOT BE VULNERABLE TO DAMAGE IN THIS WAY! VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS TO DESCRIBE A SAFETY ISSUE WE DISCOVERED WITH THE 2002 HONDA. WE EXPERIENCED AN INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AND FORCED THE CAR TO DRIVE INTO A GUARD RAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND MY WIFE IS NOW LEFT WITH SHOULDER AND BACK PROBLEMS. IT HAPPENED ONLY DAYS AFTER A LOCAL HONDA DEALER HAD SERVICED THE VEHICLE TO RESOLVE THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN AN OFF-RAMP AND SUDDENLY THE STEERING LOCKED UP IN A HARD RIGHT TURN WHICH FORCED THE VEHICLE INTO A CONCRETE GUARD RAIL. THE CAR IS NOW TOTALED AND WE WERE WITHOUT SUFFICIENT INSURANCE TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE.

THERE WAS AN ADDITIONAL PIECE THAT BROKE AS WELL THAT APPEARS TO TAKE PART IN THE SECURING OF THE ARM OR ROD. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the front passenger's side air bag needed to be replaced. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. Additionally, the contact stated that the front passenger's side seat belt and the rear middle seat belt buckles were not latching securely as designed. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 01V351000 (Seat Belts) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

TOMORROW I TAKE MY 2002 HONDA CR-V IN FOR IT'S FIFTH AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR. IF IT WASN'T FOR THE CONCERN ABOUT VISIBILITY TO DEFROST/DEFOG THE WINDSHIELD IN CERTAIN WEATHER CONDITIONS, WOULD NOT BE SHELLING OUT ANOTHER $1600 PLUS TAX ON THIS RELIABILITY HIGHLY OVERRATED VEHICLE. I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. AS I DROVE ALONG I-575 - A 4-LANE HIGHWAY - I NOTICED A KIND OF POWER SURGE FROM MY ENGINE. MY SPEEDOMETER REGISTERED 80 MPH! I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT WAS UNABLE TO SLOW THE CAR MORE THAN 20-30 MPH, AND THEN IT STARTED TO CREEP BACK UP. I EXITED AT THAT POINT, KNOWING I NEEDED HELP. I WAS STILL GOING MUCH TOO FAST. I LOOKED FOR A SERVICE STATION AND NOT ONLY WAS THERE NONE, WITHIN SECONDS I WAS FACED WITH A RED LIGHT WITH 4 LANES OF CROSS TRAFFIC (GEORGE BUSBY PARKWAY) - I COULDN'T STOP THE CAR! SO I TOOK IT OFF THE ROAD IN A CONTROLLED CRASH, GOING OVER THE CURB, 6 OR SO FEET OF GRASS, A HUGE HEDGE, AND CRASHED INTO A VERY TALL, MATURE CRAPE MYRTLE. THANK GOD THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED. I WAS FORTUNATE THE CRAPE MYRTLE CONSISTED OF MULTIPLE TRUNKS RATHER THAN BEING AN OAK OR SIMILAR. THE CRAPE MYRTLE MANAGED TO DISSIPATE THE IMPACT OF MY CAR AND I ONLY SUSTAINED A BROKEN WRIST. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR IN MARCH, 2013. NOW IN 2014, WE NOTICED THE AC WASN'T WORKING WE ATTEMPTED TO RECHARGE IT WITH FREON, BUT I WAS TOLD THE COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACE, THE CONDENSER, LINES, EX VALVE, EVEN A SENSOR. PRETTY MUCH ALL THE AC SYSTEM HAS BEEN REPLACE. NOW WE HAVE NOTICED THAT ONCE THE COMPRESSOR IS ON. IT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING OR MAKING TURNS. IT FEELS AS IF THE COMPRESSOR WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO TURN OFF. AS IF NOT BAD ENOUGH ONCE THE CAR IS ON PARK WITH AC ON THE COMPRESSOR WILL SHUT-OFF AND THE AC WILL START BLOWING A HUMID-SMELLY AIR. ONCE IT DOES THIS, THE COMPRESSOR'S EMERGENCY VALVE WILL OPEN AND FLUSH SOME FREON. IT IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR WITH MY FAMILY IN IT. 2002 HONDA CRV: I WAS MAKING A TURN FROM A STOP LIGHT, INTO THE FREEWAY ON RAMP, AND I HEARD A LOUD GEAR DRAGGING SOUND FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. Shaking at different speeds wheels feel like they are going to fly off crv. Torque converter shuttering cause tires to shake uncontrollable. Torque converter shakes so bad causes other problems with crv. This major safety issue been for years with Honda. Honda knows it. They just passing time. Then to fix it solve the problem for hundreds even thousands of people There transmission is flawed because their so many on the road they won't recall a transmission because the money. They scammed people . Even if you put new transmission or torque converter you end up with the same problem because it's poorly made. No one should have to drive a vehicle that shakes and makes the wheels feel like they going to fall off. If you don't find that major safety issue then this department isn't doing it's job.. stop letting these car mandatories get away with bad vehicles.

WHILE PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE DRIVING UNDER THE SPEED LIMIT (25 MPH IN A 45 MPH ZONE). I ACCELERATED TO PASS, MY CAR BEGAN TO SPEED FASTER AND FASTER WITHOUT ME BEING ABLE TO CONTROL OR STOP THE VEHICLE. BOTH FEET WERE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT WE REACHED 70MPH, BUT I COULDN'T STOP THE CAR. I PULLED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND YET THE CAR CONTINUED. WE RODE ON BOTH THE BRAKE PEDAL AND EMERGENCY BRAKE FOR AT LEAST A MILE. WITH THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND IMMEDIATELY CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NOTHING OBSTRUCTING THE PEDAL CAUSING IT TO ACCELERATE. THERE WAS NOTHING. NOTHING APPEARED OBVIOUSLY WRONG UNDER THE HOOD, EXCEPT A STRONG BURNING SMELL FROM THE BRAKES. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT DISPENSES HOT AIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CLUTCH ON THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS BURNED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS WOBBLY AND NOT ATTACHED TIGHTLY AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT AUTOMATICALLY ILLUMINATES WHEN IT IS BUMPED AGAINST. THE DEALER STATED THAT A SWITCH MAY BE NEEDED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE REMOVES THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO MOVE. SHE STATED THAT NONE OF THE FAILURES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 71,825.

THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2002 HONDA CRV WHICH HAS ONLY 35000 MILES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED ME THAT THE SRS MUST HAVE WENT BAD AND IT WOULD COST $700 TO FIX. I ASKED IF THE LIGHT ON COULD BE CAUSED BY THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKING UP REGULARLY WHICH TEMPORARILY DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO GET ENOUGH SEAT BELT TO ACTUALLY REACH THE BUCKLE AND THE DEALER SAID THAT MIGHT BE THE PROBLEM BUT I STILL WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE SRS SYSTEM. I ASKED IF THIS WAS A RECALL AND HE SAID NOT AT THIS TIME. I NOW HAVE CHECKED THE RECALLS AND SEE THAT THE SEAT BELTS AS WELL AS THE AIR BAGS HAVE BEEN RECALLED AND I HAVE NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF EITHER BY THE DEALER AND I WOULD THINK THIS WOULD BE IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED ESPECIALLY SINCE THE SRS LIGHT CAME ON WHICH IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO BOTH OF THESE SAFETY DEVICES. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE ENGINE REVVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. THEY DETERMINED THE TRANSMISSION WAS CRACKED AND REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, RANGE SENSOR, RANGE SWITCH AND OXYGEN SENSOR WHICH REMEDIED THE PROBLEM.

IN JANUARY OF 2005 I ECNOUNTERED THAT MY GAS GAUGE INTERMITTENTLY DOES NOT GO TO FULL WHEN I FILL UP THE TANK IF THE GAS TANK WAS 1/4 FULL OR LESS. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. I JUST GOT THE CAR BACK YESTERDAY, 3/23/2005, FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND AGAIN NOTHING WAS DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT THE GAUGE WILL FAIL IN THE FUTURE WITH MY DAUGHTER USING THIS VEHICLE FOR COLLEGE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HUTCHINSON RIVER PARKWAY IN NEW YORK AT MODERATE SPEED, EVERYTHING WAS FINE, AND SUDDENLY AND COMPLETELY LOST STEERING. EVERY OUNCE OF MY BEING WAS DIRECTED AT TRYING TO STEER, TO NO AVAIL. THE CAR WAS LIKE A BAD CARNIVAL RIDE CONDUCTED BY DEMONS. I SMASHED INTO THE GUARD RAIL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, CAROMED OFF IT, VEERED TO THE LEFT AND SMASHED INTO THE CONCRETE MEDIAN JERSEY BARRIER ON THE LEFT. I WAS ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN I WAS ABOUT TO DIE. THANKS TO THE BARRIER AND MY SEATBELT AND AIRBAGS (I HAVE SIDE-IMPACT AIRBAGS WHICH DID NOT DEPLOY, ONLY THE FRONT ONES DID - THERE WAS NO PASSENGER IN MY CAR), I DID NOT GO INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS I BELIEVED I WAS ABOUT TO, WALKED AWAY FROM MY CAR AND AM SITTING HERE WRITING TO YOU NOW, QUITE BANGED UP AND BRUISED AND WITH A FRACTURED VERTEBRA BUT MIRACULOUSLY ALIVE. MIRACULOUSLY ALSO, NO OTHER CARS WERE INVOLVED. *** SOMETHING FAILED IN MY CAR TO CAUSE THIS AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT. THERE WAS EITHER A TIRE OR MECHANICAL FAILURE OF SOME KIND. (THE TIRES STILL HAD DECENT TREAD ON THEM.) MY INSURANCE COMPANY SAYS THE CAR AND TIRES ARE SO DAMAGED FROM THE IMPACT THAT THEY CAN'T TELL WHAT CAUSED IT AND THEY SHOW NO INTEREST IN PURSUING IT. (IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN A BLOWOUT.) I'M SURE SOMEONE WHO KNEW HOW COULD INVESTIGATE THE CAR AND FIND OUT WHAT FAILED. IT SEEMS TO ME IT SHOULD BE OF INTEREST TO HONDA AND EVERYONE ELSE WHAT WENT WRONG HERE. THERE SHOULD BE A RUBBER FLAP OF SOME KIND TO CLOSE OF THE LARGE OPENING IN THE WHEEL WELL AREA WHERE THE STEERING RODS COME THROUGH TO THE WHEEL. THIS LARGE OPENING LETS WATER, MUD, SNOW & SLUSH SPRAY UP INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT COVERING THE ENGINE, BATTERY, BRAKE AND POWER STEERING FLUID CONTAINERS SO THAT THEY ARE ALWAYS DIRTY AND HARD TO CHECK FOR THE CORRECT LEVELS. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF MY DEALER SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE, BUT THEY SAID THIS IS THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. I THINK THIS IS A BAD DESIGN, I MADE RUBBER FLAPS AND INSTALLED THEM MYSELF, THEY HELPED 100%. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER HONDA IN 2005 UNLESS THIS IS REMEDIED. *LA

WHEN BACKING UP AND PRESSING THE BRAKES SLIGHTLY THERE IS A LOUD CLUNK NOISE. THE NOISE CAN BE HEARD FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND IT APPEARS TO COME FROM THE FRONT BRAKES. WE TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER AND THEY ADJUSTED THE BRAKE CLIPS, THE NOISE WAS GONE FOR ABOUT A DAY AND THEN IT RETURNED.

CAR SKIPS AND HESITATES WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 35 & 50 MPH. HAS CAUSED 3 NEAR ACCIDENTS MAINLY DUE TO BEING STARTLED. VEHICLE IS UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE. HONDA HAS REPLACED COMPUTER AND OXYGEN SENSOR WITHOUT IMPROVING THE POOR PERFORMANCE. HONDA NOW TAKES THE OFFICIAL POSITION OF "THIS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS MODEL". I HAVE ASKED THAT THEY TAKE ME OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND HONDA HAS REFUSED.

DEALER WAS UNABLE TO HOOK UP WIRING HARNESS ON TOW BAR THAT GOES UP TO THE MOTOR HOME. CONSUMER FEELS IT'S UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITHOUT TAIL LIGHTS ON TOW BAR. ALSO, IF A VEHICLE WEIGHS OVER 1000 POUNDS, IN SOME STATES, ITEM THAT IS BEING TOWED MUST HAVE BRAKES. BRAKES WERE NOT AVAILBLE AT TIME OF PURCHASE. *AK THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHSED WITH A CONTRACT AGREEMENT TO BE ABLE TO TOW BEHIND A MOTORHOME. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE AGREEMENT. CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE REAR LIGHTS WERE NOT WORKING AS REQUIRED AND THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS NOT WIRED. THE WIRE SYSTEM IS REQUIRED TO ACTIVATE WHEN THE TOW VEHICLE BRAKES. THE MANAGER TOLD CONSUMER THAT HONDA WOULD NOT SPEND ANY MORE TIME OR MONEY ON A PROPER INSTALLATION. *JG1
