TAKATA RECALL TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP ON 5-23-17 FOR TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. RECENTLY WE RECEIVED ANOTHER AIRBAG RECALL LETTER. CALLED DEALER THINKING THAT WE ALREADY HAD TAKEN CARE OF THIS MATTER. WERE INFORMED THAT ON 5-23-17 ONLY THE DRIVERS AIRBAG WAS REPLACED AND NOW PASSENGER BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHY WERE BOTH NOT DONE ON 5-23-17? WHY HAVE WE BEEN DRIVING A CAR WITH AN UNSAFE PASSENGER AIR BAG FOR 2 ADDITIONAL YEARS AND A TOTAL OF 15,157 MILES. ALL THIS TIME WE THOUGHT WE WERE DRIVING A SAFE CAR, NOT PLAYING RUSSIAN ROULETTE WITH THE PERSON RIDING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.

The contact owns a 2009 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at approximately 15 MPH, the rear passenger’s side wheel started to feel abnormal on the roadway. No warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway and became aware that the rear passenger’s side wheel was sunken into the mud flap cover of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the residence and then to the local dealer the following day. The vehicle was diagnosed as unrepairable under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure). The contact was informed of a possible buy-back. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000.

I took my 2009 Honda CRV in for a recall. In salt belt states where de-icing agents are used to maintain the roadway, the de-icing agents, along with mud and dirt, could enter the rear frame through the rear frame drainage points. This could cause the rear trailing arm to come off. The dealership ended up attaching a bracket that is supposed to keep me safe. My problem is that the bracket is attached to a highly corroded area of my vehicle (as shown in the attached pictures) When I brought this up they only stated that as long as the one bolt was able to be replaced then that is all they are required to do. I feel that the bracket should at least be attached to solid metal. Also, now I have to have the bracket removed again so I can get the frame repaired (even though the recall specifically says the corrosion was caused by a design flaw that allows salt and dirt to get into the inner frame through rear frame drainage points). I feel that there should be more criteria to this recall than just one bolt because they are sending cars back on the road that are still unsafe.

The vehicle was inspected, and it was determined that the rear subframe was damaged beyond repair due to extreme corrosion. The contact was informed by the dealer that a case would be opened. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that she would receive a call back however, the contact had not yet received the call back. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2009 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and vibrating. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle had recently been repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure). The contact stated that the vehicle was shaking and vibrating at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the yearly State vehicle inspection and the state inspectors refused to complete the inspection due to the extreme corrosion and holes in the rear sub frame. The vehicle was then taken to another State Inspection station and the contact was informed that the vehicle would not pass the State Inspection. The contact called the manufacturer and a manufacturer inspection had been scheduled. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 157,034.

Honda issued a safety recall for rear frame corrosion; we learned of the recall in Apr 2023 & took the car to Vidmar Honda (Pueblo, CO) in Jun2023. They didn't have the equipment to conduct the inspection, said they would order it & notify us when it arrived; I followed up in Aug & Sept and they hadn't ordered the equipment. On Oct 10 I brought the car in to have the TPMS repaired & they informed me there was a safety recall. Later Vidmar informed me the car was too rusty to make the safety repair, but they repaired the TPMS (that is FRAUD). I pointed out that the Honda recall notice said the dealer would offer to repurchase the vehicle if the car could not be repaired, but Vidmar denied that was how the recall worked (Honda MISREPRESENTED the recall process to its customers). WE WERE NOT INFORMED THAT THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE & WE WERE PERMITTED TO TAKE THE CAR, being told that the issue was now with American Honda. I received a voicemail from Honda on Oct 12 telling me of our recall case number; I returned the call 9 times but had no further calls from Honda. On [XXX] the frame failed & the right rear tire nearly separately from the frame; the vehicle was towed to a Honda dealer in Colorado Springs & I informed both Vidmar Honda & American Honda that day of the structural failure. On Jan 12, 2024, Honda called & offered to repurchase the car (the caller was not aware that the vehicle had failed & was off the road); afterwards I received an email from Honda INFORMING US FOR THE FIRST TIME THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE & SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN - 45 days after the structural failure, 84 days after the repair could not be made, and 7 months after we first tried to have the vehicle repaired. To date Honda has not made an offer in writing to repurchase the car; the GM of Vidmar showed us pictures of the car in Dec from [XXX] & said, "that's not good when you can see light coming from the other side [of the frame] " and "that's real swiss cheese there." I purchased a 2009 Honda CRV in 2017 at the West Chester Scott Honda dealership. This vehicle, when I purchased it, had 38,000 miles on it. A year after I purchased it, there was a problem with the door lock accelerator on the driver's side door. I purchased the Honda part myself and had it repaired. A month after this, the left back passenger side door had the same problem. I purchased another part and had it repaired also. About six months ago, the same problem occurred on the front passenger door and on the right back passenger door. This should not be considered normal wear and tear on a vehicle because this occurred on all four doors. I went on-line and researched that this issue was involved in a class action lawsuit Case ID #2:13-cv-00381. In this information, it was stated that, Honda knew about this problem with the door locks but avoided acknowledging the problem. It was also stated that this issue occurred after the limited 36,0000 mile warranty. It alleged that Honda avoided acknowledging the problem so they would not have to cover repairs. The lawsuit settled and Honda agreed to repair these affected vehicles free of charge. The warranty on these vehicles was also extended from 3 to 6 years or 6 months from the date the settlement was reached. Honda also agreed to reimburse owners who had already paid for this malfunction. When I purchased this vehicle from this Honda dealership, this issue was never mentioned to me. Now I am saddled with this problem and I paid to get this fixed out of my own pocket. I went to this dealership last week for a different recall, I spoke to the supervisor,, he said that he didn't know anything about this. He was very rude. Currently the front passenger door and the right back passenger door are still not working and it locks and you can't open it unless you push the driver side. If there was an accident, I wouldn't be able to open those doors.

Went to dealership on 8/10/23 to get a recall fixed. The recall is for the rear frame brace corrosion due to deicing agents. The dealership said that that my car failed the test and declared the car unsafe and do not drive. No warning lights or symptoms. My safety was put at risk due to the fact the rear arm frame brace could’ve snapped while driving causing a potentially fatal accident.

Upon repair, at the authorized dealer, for the rear trailing arm recall in May 2023, the service Advisor noted that antifreeze/ coolant was leaking from a corroded/ rusty heater pipe deep inside the engine compartment. Although they quoted a repair price and a separate coolant flush fee, the part is not currently available from Honda. This heater pipe is backordered and thus unavailable for repair as quoted. Since this antifreeze leak makes this vehicle undriveable, I was forced to research then search for this part availability and buy it myself as an aftermarket non OEM part. It seems that this rust issue related to the rear trailing arm is not the only rust concern on these 2007-2011 Honda CR-Vs.

The locks on all the doors in my 2009 Honda CR-V EX have been randomly clicking on and off as I drive for the last 6 months. One day I parked the car and tried to open the door and it was locked and I could not unlock it from the inside, I re-inserted the key into the ignition and the alarm horn started sounding but I was able to open the door and exit the car. The internet shows that there was a class-action suit settlement for 2008-2011 regarding the door locks that expired in 2015. I contacted the dealership and they said since my VIN was not listed on their website, they would charge me $175.00 to diagnose the problem and then would let me know if they could fix it so I followed the dirctions on the web-site to file a complaint with NHTSA. @ the door locks randomly swtich on and off as the car is moving @ I transport my infant and toddler grandchildren in the car and am concerned about the car doors randomly unlocking @ I have not had the vehicle inspected by the dealership as they will charge me $175 for diagnosis but the problem seems to be a duplicate of the complaints I have seen on line regarding the Recall of 2008-2011 CRVs @ No warning of the problem was experienced prior to June 2022

Door locks will lock and unlock on their own. Sometimes the battery will go dead overnight because the doors lock and unlock hundreds of times overnight.

Bottom Line Up Front: The service advisor at Chapman Honda here in Tucson told me this morning (16 Nov) that passenger door locks and hatchback locks that freeze in the locked position (and can NOT be opened by anyone inside or out) sometimes happen with older Hondas (over 10 years). Really? This is a VERY serious safety issue. If what the advisor said is true, then there are potentially many thousands of vehicles that need to be immediately recalled. Timeline: On 11 Nov 21, without any warning whatsoever, the door locks in our 2009 Honda CR-V froze in the locked position. Passenger door and hatchback. My wife has serious back issues and we are thankful this did not happen, for example, when I was driving her to a medical appointment. I immediately called Chapman Honda, Tucson and was able to set up a service appointment for 9:00am, Saturday, 13 Nov. 13 Nov: As soon as I drove the car into the service bay, the frozen locks "un-froze" and operated correctly. The service advisor said he would have the doors checked anyway. They lubricated the doors and I left the dealership. 15 Nov: On the way to pick up a handicapped friend to take her to lunch the same door locks froze AGAIN. Fortunately, it happened before her friend was picked up; she had to sit in the back seat. My wife was very worried her friend would be trapped in the back as well. That same afternoon my wife took the CR-V back to Chapman Honda and left it for overnight servicing. 16 Nov: The service advisor called to say door lock actuators in both front doors would have to be replaced. Cost: $952.05! (including a 10% veteran’s discount) For the greater good and safety of all “older” Honda CR-V owners, it would seem this door lock actuator issue merits investigation. STEERING RACK REPLACED ABOUT 3-1/2 YEARS AGO PROBABLY AROUND 50,000 MILES (EST) . WAS TOLD TODAY NEEDS SECOND REPLACEMENT AT AROUND 86,000 MILES. THIS MEANS STEERING RACK WILL HAVE FAILED TWICE.

POWER STEERING RACK LEAK. THIS IS MY 2ND CRV THAT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH A RACK AND PINION LEAK. UPON RESEARCHING IT IS APPARENT THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. HONDA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES INVOLVING THE STEERING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP FOR A TIRE ROTATION, WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S BOOT OVER THE STEERING MECHANISM. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FLUID THAT WAS LEAKING OFF THE DRIVER SIDE BOOT WAS POWER STEERING FLUID AND THE RACK AND PINON NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE COST OF THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,655.

I TOOK MY CAR IN TO CHECK MY AC THAT STOPPED BLOWING COLD. THANK GOODNESS IT WAS THE RELAY AND NOT THE COMPRESSOR. THEN I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW POWER STEERING RACK BECAUSE BOTH OF MY BOOTS ARE LEAKING. I WAS QUOTED $1450. AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON HERE, IT SEEMS LIKE A BIG PROBLEM, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. I AM ONLY AT 79,000 MILES.

I AM THE ORIGINAL AND ONLY OWNER - TWO YEARS AGO, JULY 9,2011 I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR ROUTINE SERVICING AND TIRE ROTATION AND WAS ADVISED MY TIRES (ORIGINAL YOKOHAMA) WERE CHOPPY AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER AT THE TIME ONLY RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT WITH THE SAME TIRES WHICH I REFUSED AS I FELT THEY WORE PREMATURELY AND REPLACED THEM AT A TIRE DEALER WITH COOPERS. MY HONDA CRV CAME WITH CONTINENTAL 225/65R17 102T TIRES, IT HAS 28000 MILES ON IT 2 YEARS 2 MOS LATER AND THE FRONT TIRES ARE COMPLETELY BALD. THE MECHANIC CHECKED MY ALIGNMENT, THE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED, AND THEY ARE EVENLY WORN. The vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic for maintenance where it was noticed that the subframe was rusted past the L-bracket. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the subframe was rusted past the L-bracket. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

I contacted my local Honda dealer per the recall letter back in Summer of 2023. Dealer stated that rather than do the recall inspection , they would wait until they got a recall repair kit in so I didn’t have to make a possible 2 trips. The dealer stated they would contact me. It’s now April 15, 2024 and still haven’t been contacted yet.

I have a 2009 Honda CR-V that had a recall performed on 9/13/23. After the recall was performed the car is still not safe. But Honda is saying the car is safe even though it will not pass NYS inspection after the recall was performed. I first called Honda on 9-14-23 and they wanted documents from dealership saying it’s unsafe. On 9-18-23 the dealership put the car through NYS inspection and failed because of the area to do with the recall. Sent this information into honda. They didn’t get back to me until I called back. They went on to say the whole underside of car is bad which is not true. Then trailered car to 3 different shops. All 3 shops said the unsafe part is where the recall was performed. Sent this information into Honda and again they pushed me off basically saying not there problem. I have not driven the car since the recall has been performed. The person I spoke to at Honda went on to tell me they performed an inspection that meets NHTSA standards for the recall. But I’m wondering if it doesn’t meet NYS inspection standard how can they say it’s safe for me to drive ?

Vehicle was taken in May to have the corrosion recall procedure completed. while at the dealership it failed the inspection and was told it would be bought back. After 10 weeks and many phone calls received an offer that was a slap in the face for an offer. representatives were dismissive in nature and dodged my questions. faced with either the option of accepting a low offer or spending money out of pocket to fix it personally was a terrible option. Dealer and Honda both refused to fix my vehicle even though the corrosion is not the issue at hand since the threads of the trailing arm were messed up by the dealership.

Driving vehicle and it started to sway. Loud bang and car stopped. I got out and the rear trailing arm had broken free from the frame due to rust. Car was no longer drive able. I had it towed to Darling's Honda in Bangor, Maine. They were not able to look at the vehicle because Honda has not finalized the recall. NHTSA RECALL NUMBER:23V-228 I am without a car and need a solution. I was told by the dealership that Honda may buy it back due to the extent of the rust because it is most likely not repairable. I have called and chatted several times with Honda and have been told it may be months before a solution.

I AM SUBMITTING THIS COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO THE HONDA DOOR ACTUATOR SITUATION. IT IS EVIDENT THAT HONDA HAS NEGLIGENTLY OMITTED A VAST MAJORITY OF AFFECTED VEHICLES IN THEIR RECENT LIABILITY LAWSUIT RECALL. MY 2009 HONDA CR-V STARTED ROLLING WHEN I WAS OUT OF THE CAR AFTER PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. THIS IS NOW A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR THE EXISTING TRANSMISSION RECALL ISSUED BACK IN 2011. THE DEALER ADVISED THE 'FIX' WAS TAKEN CARE OF PREVIOUSLY AND MY CURRENT PROBLEM IS NOT RELATED TO THE EXISTING RECALL. THE PROBLEM I HAVE CERTAINLY SEEMS TO MATCH THE RECALL. I FEEL HONDA DOES NOT WANT TO HONOR THE RECALL SINCE THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 150,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND REPAIRS WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE. I AM BEING QUOTED BY THE DEALER A PRICE OF APPROXIMATELY $3,700 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.

MY 2009 HONDA CR-V EXPERIENCED A SERIES OF SUDDEN ACCELERATIONS THAT BEGAN WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, SHIFTED TO PARK, THEN RESTARTED THE ENGINE. ONCE AGAIN, THE ENGINE RPM SPIKED TO OVER 4,000 RPM BEFORE I GOT THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. IT DID THE SAME THING ON THE NEXT TRY, GOING TO FULL POWER UPON STARTING BEFORE I COULD GET THE IGNITION TURNED OFF. ON THE THIRD TRY, IT STARTED AND IDLED AS NORMAL.

I OPENED THE AUTOMATIC GARAGE DOOR AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE. WHEN THE DOOR OF THE GARAGE OPENED THERE WAS A PLASTIC RECYCLE CAN IN THE MIDDLE OF WHERE THE CAR WAS TO BE PARKED. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AFTER PLACING THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK TO MOVE THE RECYCLE CAN. I HAD TO GO AROUND THE BACK OF THE CAR TO ENTER THE GARAGE AS A BUSH BLOCKED MY WAY INTO THE GARAGE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. AS I WALKED AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR I PUSHED THE SIDE VIEW MIRROR IN (THE ENTRANCE TO THE GARAGE IS TIGHT WITH THE MIRRORS IN THE EXTENDED POSITION). I WENT INTO THE GARAGE AND WAS PUTTING THE RECYCLE CAN AWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME INTO THE GARAGE ON ITS OWN. I THOUGHT I COULD OPEN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL OR HIT THE BRAKE BUT THE VEHICLE WAS COMING TOWARD ME AND I COULD SEE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO HIT AN EXTENSION IN THE GARAGE WALL WHERE THE POWDER ROOM WAS INSIDE THE HOUSE. I BACKED AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE'S DRIVER SIDE DOOR AS I HAD NO ROOM TO OPEN THE DOOR AND THE CAR CRASHED INTO THE EXTENSION OF THE WALL AND STOPPED. I WAS QUITE RELIEVED AT THAT POINT AS THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE CONTINUED INTO THE REAR OF THE GARAGE AND THROUGH THE WALL INTO THE LAUNDRY ROOM. I SURVEYED THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR AT THAT TIME AND DECIDED THAT WHILE SOME DAMAGE DID HAPPEN IT WAS NOT THAT MUCH AND THE VEHICLE WAS STILL DRIVABLE. SOME MONTHS LATER WE TOOK THE CAR FOR A REPAIR ESTIMATE AND TO MY SURPRISE THE ESTIMATE WAS FOR ABOUT $1,900.00. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS IS MY FAULT AS I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK BUT DID NOT SET THE PARKING BRAKE AS THE WHOLE SITUATION WOULD NOT TAKE TWO MINUTES TO PUT THE RECYCLE CAN AWAY AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE. Dealer has no idea how to fix this. It’s defective brake system has been serviced multiple times by Honda dealer!

2009 Honda CRV with 200,000+ miles. The brakes are spongy. Brought it to my mechanic because it is not in ideal driving condition. Checked brake pads and all that and couldn't figure it out. Upon investigation- the brake booster went bad. Replaced that at a ridiculous cost being that he had to take apart the steering column to get to the part. On my way home from picking it up, the brakes locked on me. Got it on a trailer to bring back to his house and the brakes were no longer locked up. Got it back. Brakes were ok for a little while. Took it through a car wash and as I was pulling out, the brakes were spongy again. Upon more investigation- other 2009 CRVs have experienced this as well. I spent over $2000 figuring out the brakes and they still don't work as they should.

MY WIFE'S SISTER IS THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE CAR. SHE COULD NO LONGER DRIVE SO WE PURCHASED THE CAR FROM HER IN ABOUT JUNE OF 2015. IT HAD 11,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. WE NOTICED THAT THE BREAK PEDAL STARTED GOING ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR TO FRONTIER HONDA IN COLORADO WHERE WE LIVED AT THE TIME. THIS WAS REPEATED A NUMBER OF TIMES AS THE PEDAL CONTINUED TO START GOING NEAR THE FLOOR A SHORT TIME AFTER THE REPAIR ATTEMPT. THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT WAS WRONG AND WE ENDED UP PAYING FOR THE TROUBLESHOOTING MULTIPLE TIMES. WE MOVED TO OHIO IN JUNE OF 2018 AND IN OCTOBER FOR 2018 WE TOOK IT INTO MATT CASTRUCCI'S AUTO MALL OF DAYTON (HONDA 937-434-4723) WHERE AGAIN WE HAD TO PAY FOR TROUBLESHOOTING. IT HAD 66,278 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. EACH TIME WE TOOK IT IN THE TROUBLESHOOTING INCLUDED A BLEED OF AND INSPECTION OF THE BREAK SYSTEM AND EACH TIME THE PEDAL WOULD GO BACK TO NORMAL RANGE OF MOTION. AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME, ESPECIALLY IN COLD WEATHER, THE PEDAL WOULD GO DOWN CLOSER TO THE FLOOR. THE LATEST TIME WE TOOK IT IN TO MATTS HONDA DEALERSHIP THEY DETERMINED THE ANOMALY IS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PART WITHIN THE ABS PORTION OF THE BREAK SYSTEM WHICH WOULD COST OVER $2000 TO REPAIR. MATT CALLED AND MENTIONED THAT HE WAS INFORMED THAT SOME CARS GOT EQUIPPED WITH THE DEFECTIVE PART. AFTER MATT CHECKED WITH HIS REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE HE CALLED TO INFORM US THAT HONDA WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. IF IT HAD LESS MILES ON IT THEY WOULD BUT AT SOME TIME THE OWNER NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE REPAIRS. THE PEDAL WOULD START GOING NEAR THE FLOOR AFTER THE CAR SAT UN-DRIVEN ESPECIALLY WHEN COLD OUT. THE CAR IS STILL NOT REPAIRED. THE BREAK PEDAL IS STILL GOING ALMOST TO WHERE IT IS TOUCHING THE FLOOR, AND MY WIFE WILL BE IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE PART.

THIS ENTRY HAS TO DO WITH REPLACEMENT / AFTERMARKET DISC BRAKE PADS MANUFACTURED BY RAYBESTOS. I SEARCHED THIS SITE TO TRY AND DETERMINE IF THIS IS THE PLACE TO REPORT THIS, BUT I'M UNCERTAIN, AND FELT IT BEST TO JUST GIVE YOU THIS INFORMATION REGARDLESS. I'M AN AUTO MECHANIC AND I'VE SEEN THIS ISSUE QUITE A FEW TIMES NOW OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS, AND I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER VIA THEIR WEB SITE OVER 2 WEEKS AGO, AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND. THIS IS A DESIGN ERROR IN THE BRAKE PAD SHIM CAUSING THE PAD TO NOT MAKE FULL CONTACT WITH THE OUTER CALIPER SURFACE. THIS CAUSES THE PADS ON BOTH SIDES TO NOT MAKE FULL (PARALLEL) CONTACT WITH THE ROTOR. THIS REDUCES THE FRICTION ASPECT, AND CAUSES A SLIGHTLY SPONGY PEDAL. IT'S EASILY SEEN IN THE CONTACT SURFACE OF THE ROTOR AFTER AN INITIAL DRIVE. I'VE HAD CUSTOMER REMARKS AND COMPLAINTS, AND THE ONLY RESOLVE IS TO DISMANTLE THE PADS FROM THE CALIPER, AND REMOVE THE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM. IF DRIVEN AS-IS, THE FRICTION MATERIAL OF THE BRAKE PAD WILL EVENTUALLY WEAR DOWN UNTIL FULL CONTACT DOES OCCUR, BUT THIS MAY TAKE HUNDREDS OF MILES. IN THE MEANTIME, THE BRAKING EFFICIENCY IS SOMEWHAT COMPROMISED. I HAVE 10 PHOTOS I WANT TO SEND EXPLAINING THE SITUATION, AND THEY INCLUDE AN OEM HONDA PAD WITH THE OEM SHIM TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCE. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM A NEW HONDA OWNER. LAST NIGHT (5/15/18) I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH WHEN MY REAR BREAK JUST LOCKED UP AUTOMATIC NEARLY CAUSING A TERRIBLE COLLISION. THE CAR STARTED TO LEAK OIL AT ABOUT 55000 MILES. THE OIL LEAKS BETWEEN ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. THE HONDA DEALER CHECKED AND SAID IT MAY BE CAUSED BY THE GALLERY BOLT AND SEAL, THE PART NUMBERS ARE 12208-P8C-A01 AND 90401-PR4-000 AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE THEM, IT'S 16 HOURS' WORK. IT'S SO UNRELIABLE AND COSTLY TO FIX.

There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that whenever the driver's front and passenger’s side front door were ajar, the sound was not detected. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the door actuator had malfunctioned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 58,800.

For the last couple of weeks the drivers side lock mechanism makes loud noise, is difficult and sometimes impossible to unlock with fob or manually. This is not consistent every time I drive, but has been increasing in frequency. I have been locked out of car twice. The Fob and manual key attempts failed. I replaced the Fob battery and was able to open the car, but the loud noises, lock engagement issues are continuing and increasing in frequency. I want to see if this is a recall issue that can be addressed by a dealership.

MY MOTHER WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE VSA LIGHT (TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT IN THE MIDDLE) CAME ON. SHE THEN STARTED TO HEAR A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE TIRES. On June 8th 2023 I brought my car into a Honda service center to be inspected per safety recall 23V-228. After inspection I was told that the rear frame was severely rusted out but that the shop could not do anything about it. I was given my vehicle back and told it was safe to drive and that Honda of America would be reaching out to me in a few days. Approximately 2 weeks passed with no word from Honda and the rear trailing arm fell off my car while driving home from work. This is exactly what the recall was supposed to prevent from happening. This was confirmed when the car was subsequently towed back into the shop. Now, Honda of America has been working on a repurchase offer that was supposed to take 2 weeks and it has since been nearly two months with no additional information. According to the recall, Honda was supposed to remedy this situation within 60 days of the car being brought in for initial inspection. As of today it has been 77 days. Honda refuses to answer any of my emails or pick up the phone with repeated attempts.

I am writing to express my concern about the quality of the Heavy Duty straps that accompanied the Yakima JayLow J-Cradle Rooftop Kayak Mount I purchased earlier this year. On July 3, 2023, I attempted to tighten the first strap I used with the mount. Unfortunately, the strap detached at the point of attachment to the buckle. I was fortunate that this happened while I was in my driveway, and no one was injured. However, had this failure occurred while I was driving, the potential consequences could have been disastrous. I contacted Yakima, but they were extremely slow to respond and seemed unconcerned even though I told signaled to them that I believed this issue could result in someone being seriously injured or dying. The specific component that failed was the Super Heavy Duty Strap. This strap has a buckle with a rubber jacket around it. The strap was sewn around the rubber instead of the metal of the buckle. The Yakima JayLow comes with two of these straps. I still the failed strap and a strap which I didn't tighten to failure, but is improperly manufactured. This put the safety of others at risk in that there is a high probability that kayaks attached with these straps (with this manufacturing defect) will fly off the vehicle. I am a mechanical engineer. I inspected it and reported it to the manufacturer. Again, they seemed unconcerned, but did send two new straps which were properly manufactured with the strap sewn around the buckle...instead of around the rubber buckle jacket. There were no warnings to the failure and it would be hard to expect/see the manufacturing defect. One doesn't expect a strap to break like this.

The rear wheel on the left driver side detached from the frame while driving on the hwy and lost control. Luckily I could pull off and drive into the ditch. The frame is rusted enough that auto shop says that the repairs aren't worth it because the entire back frame is rusted and will just happen on the other side. No sounds beforehand to indicate their would be a malfunction. The control arm was detached from the rusting but other components broke from the frame rusting and wheel coming loose on the hwy. It will be inspected further.

There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and diagnosed with rear subframe corrosion. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,810.

I RECENTLY BROUGHT MY 10 YEAR OLD CAR IN FOR ITS YEARLY STATE SAFETY INSPECTION AND I WAS INFORMED THAT CORROSION ON THE LEFT REAR UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR WAS IRREPARABLE. THIS INCLUDED CORROSION BETWEEN THE UNI BODY AND UNDERCARRIAGE, COMPROMISING THE INTEGRITY OF THE CONTROL ARMS. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE, I NOTED THAT HONDA HAS AN ACTIVE RECALL IN CANADA FOR A SIMILAR DEFECT, BUT NOT IN THE US. I CONTACTED HONDA OF NORTH AMERICA AND ASKED IF THEY COULD PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE OR COMPENSATION FOR THIS ISSUE, WHICH ESSENTIALLY RENDERS THE CAR UNUSABLE, AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT.

WHILE BEING DRIVEN AT 55-60 MPH ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY THE DRIVER SIDE REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM BROKE FREE FROM THE UNIBODY CAUSING THE REAR TIRE TO TWIST SIDEWAYS AND LODGE IN THE WHEEL WELL. THE DRIVER SIDE REAR AXLE PULLED FREE FROM THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL DUE TO DETACHMENT. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT USED BOTH LANES AND THE VEHICLE WIDTH SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TO DUE SO. HAD ANOTHER VEHICLE BEEN CLOSE BY AN ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE RESULTED. THE CRV HAD BEEN NYS INSPECTED 2 MONTHS PRIOR WITH NO SIGNS OF AN IMPENDING PROBLEM. PICTURES ARE ATTACHED SHOWING THE DETACHED DRIVER SIDE AND ALSO THE INTACT PASSENGER SIDE. AFTER TAKING PICS SHOWING AN INTACT MOUNT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE A HAMMER WAS USED TO CHECK THE STRUCTURE AND IT WAS POSSIBLE TO OPEN UP A HOLE ON THAT SIDE AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN IN NY DURING THE WINTER, THUS ROAD SALT WAS ENCOUNTERED. THE ONLY PART OF THE CRV AFFECTED BY RUST WAS THE MOUNTING LOCATION OF BOTH REAR CONTROL ARMS DUE TO AN AREA WHERE MOISTURE AND SALT CAN ENTER, BUT NOT ESCAPE. THE REST OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND EXTERIOR BODY WERE RUST FREE. HONDA WAS CONTACTED, BUT UNWILLING TO TAKE ANY ACTION DUE TO AGE AND MILES ON VEHICLE. ON 1/28/2017 MY DAUGHTER'S 2009 HONDA CRV CAUGHT ON FIRE IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND BURNED UNTIL IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. IT ONLY HAD 87,000 MILES ON IT AND SEEMED TO BE RUNNING PERFECTLY THAT DAY. I HAD DRIVEN HER CAR FOR ONE HOUR (A 44 MILE TRIP), RETURNED HOME, TURNED OFF THE CAR, TOOK THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND WENT INSIDE THE HOUSE. ABOUT TEN MINUTES LATER, ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS HEARD A CAR ALARM, WE LOOKED OUTSIDE AND SAW FLAMES SHOOTING OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND PUT OUT THE FIRE, BUT IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE FIREMEN SAID THAT IT STARTED NEAR THE BATTERY AREA, BUT WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED IT THERE WAS NO SIGN OF ANY PROBLEM WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. NO INDICATOR LIGHTS ON AND IT WAS RUNNING GREAT. THIS WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE AS I COULD HAVE PARKED THE CAR IN OUR GARAGE OR IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT HOME ON THE MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE, WHICH IS ISOLATED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED IN JUNE 2016 AS REQUIRED BY THE MAJOR AIRBAG RECALL AND THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED.

ON JULY 31, 2015, WHILE EXITING I-95 NORTHBOUND CROSSING FROM THE FLORIDA TO GEORGIA STATE LINE FROM HIGH DENSITY HIGH SPEED VACATION TRAFFIC, MY 2009 HONDA CR-V SERPENTINE (DRIVE) BELT SNAPPED. I IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER STEERING AND OTHER FUNCTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE DRIVE SERPENTINE BELT. I WAS TRAVELING AT LEAST 45 MPH AS I HAD JUST EXITED THE HIGHWAY; MY KNUCKLES WERE WHITE I WAS GRABBING THE STEERING WHEEL SO HARD TRYING TO ASSESS, AT HIGH SPEED AND WITH VEHICLES IN FRONT AND BEHIND ME GOING THE SAME SPEEDS, HOW TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP. MY WIFE AND TWO YOUNG GIRLS WERE WITH ME AND I FEARED THAT ME AND MY ENTIRE FAMILY WERE BE SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION CLEARLY IDENTIFIED A FAILED AIR-CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR CLUTCH, THAT IS THE SUBJECT OF HONDA TSB 12-072 (SERVICE BULLETIN SB-10056005-7115), THAT MY VIN IS THE SUBJECT OF HONDA'S EXTENDED WARRANTY ASSOCIATED WITH TSB 12-072. THE COMPRESSOR CLUTCH CAUSED THE COMPRESSOR TO WIND-UP/DAMAGE THE BELT WHEN IT COULD NOT TRAVEL OVER THE DRIVE WHEEL OF THE COMPRESSOR. THE ONLY WARNING WE HAD, IN HINDSIGHT, WAS WE LOST AIR CONDITIONING EARLIER IN OUR TRIP TO FLORIDA AND THE AC WAS BLOWING WARM AIR AND THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE COMPRESSOR AREA. MY ENTIRE FAMILY WAS TERRIFIED BY WHAT HAPPENED HERE - THIS SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT THAT PRESENTS AN UNREASONABLE RISK TO SAFETY AND SHOULD BE A RECALL, NOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY 1 MINUTE EARLIER, I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED AT HIGH SPEED BY CAR OR, WORSE, TRUCK. ONE WEEK AGO PURCHAED A 2009 HONDA CRV WITH 26K MILES. HAVE HAD 2 PREVIOUS CRV'S (1999 & 2002) WE PURCHASED THE 2009, AFTER A 15 MINUTE TEST DRIVE, EVERYTHING SEEMD FINE. AFTER DRIVING FOR THE PAST WEEK, NOTICED HORRIBLE LOWER BACK PAIN, LEGS & FEET HAVING "PINS & NEEDLES" NUMB FEELING & SEAT UNCOMFORTABLE REGARDLESS OF THE MANUAL SEAT ADJUSTMENT POSITION IT IS IN, LUMBAR SUPPORT ON LOWER BACK OF SEAT PUTS TOO MUCH PRESSURE ON LOWER BACK, NO WAY TO ADJUST IT. AS THE DRIVER WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE UNDER 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE HAD A SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE DRIVER HAD JUST REMOVED HIS FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCELERATION THERE WAS NO CONTACT WITH THE BRAKE OR ACCELERATOR. THE CAR DID NOT RESPOND AS THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE STRUCK A CEMENT BARRIER. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN MULTIPLE MODEL YEARS FOR THE HONDA CRV. YOU CANNOT MAKE IT HAPPEN BY DOING SOMETHING AND YOU CAN GO WEEKS WITHOUT IT HAPPENING. AS YOU ARE DRIVING THE WARNING LETTERS TPMS LIGHT UP AND THE OWNER'S MANUAL TELLS YOU TO IMMEDIATELY CONTACT THE DEALER IF THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES AND ALSO CONTACTED HONDA CASE # [XXX]. THE DEALER AND HONDA SAID THE PROBLEM IS RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE WITH THE SYSTEM AND CANNOT BE CORRECTED. 2009 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH VSA SYSTEM *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE SWITCH AND VSA MODULATOR. HOWEVER, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE TYPE OF GAS THE CONSUMER WAS PUTTING IN THE VEHICLE. *JB THE DEALER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER STATED THE VSA LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WOULD LOOSE POWER AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD NOT RESPOND. ALSO, THERE WAS A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AS WELL, AS THE FRONT TIRES. UPDATED 04/09/13 THE CONSUMER STATED THE FIRST REPAIR OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 16, 2009. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE SWITCH, AND THE BRAKE MODULATOR, THE VSA LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. AMERICAN HONDA'S RESPONSE WAS THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE NYS THRUWAY SOUTHBOUND ON A CLEAR, DRY DAY, WE WERE ABOUT TO EXIT ONTO EXIT 13N WHEN A SPEEDING SEDAN CUT US OFF BEFORE WE COULD EXIT AND WE HAD TO STEER THE VEHICLE BACK ONTO THE THRUWAY. THE 2009 HONDA CR-V WENT OUT-OF-CONTROL AND WE WEAVED OVER 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND HIT THE CEMENT MEDIAN, BOUNCED OFF AND HIT IT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. IN ADDITION, THE PASSENGER FRONT SAFETY BAGS PARTIALLY DEPLOYED AND SIDE BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT ALL. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE AMBULANCED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. I SUFFERED NUMEROUS BRUISING AND ABRASIONS TO THE CHEST. HE SUFFERED MASSIVE BRUISING AND 4 BROKEN RIBS. THERE IS DEFINITELY A STEERING ISSUE WITH THE 2009 HONDA CR-V AND SHOULD NOT BE RATED A SAFE VEHICLE. WE HAD PREVIOUSLY LEASED A 2006 AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH THAT MODEL.

I BOUGHT A NEW 2009 HONDA CR-V IN DEC 2008. AFTER AROUND 30K MILES OR SO, I NOTICED THE CAR PULLING TO THE LEFT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC FOR AN ALIGNMENT AND TIRE ROTATION BUT NOTHING THEY DID FIXED THE ISSUE. I THEN BROUGHT IT TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SINCE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY CONDUCTED THEIR OWN ALIGNMENT AND TIRE ROTATION (AT MY EXPENSE SINCE ALIGNMENTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY). THIS STILL DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. MY CAR STILL PULLS TO THE LEFT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I HAVE A SUNSHINE KIDS JUVENILE PRODUCTS BRAND RADIAN XTSL. THERE HAVE BEEN FOUR OCCURRENCES, INCLUDING TODAY SPECIFICALLY, THE LATCH CONNECTOR STRAPS HAVE LOOSENED ON THEIR OWN AFTER PROPER, CORRECT AND TIGHT INSTALLATION THROUGH NORMAL USE. THIS POSES A GREAT SAFETY HAZARD TO MY DAUGHTER AND THIS PRODUCT IS A DANGER WHEN USED WITH LATCH. THIS SEAT IS UNDER 1 YEAR OLD AND HAS BEEN IN USE FOR UNDER 1 YEAR, THE SEAT IS IN GOOD SHAPE, AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. IT IS INSTALLED REAR FACING AND IS BEING USED WITH A CHILD THAT IS 30 LBS AND 37 INCHES TALL, WELL WITHIN GUIDELINES FOR USE OF LATCH AND FOR REAR FACING FOR THIS SEAT ACCORDING TO THE MANUFACTURER. THERE IS NO REASON THE LATCH SHOULD BE LOOSENING ON ITS OWN WITH CAREFUL AND CORRECT USE AND INSTALLATION, AND IS HIGHLY CONCERNING THAT IT WOULD POSE THIS KIND OF DANGER. THE INFORMATION OFF OF OUR SEAT IS AS FOLLOWS: MODEL NUMBER: 19500, DATE OF MANUFACTURE: 12/2009, DATE OF PURCHASE: MARCH 2010. THE ACTIONS TAKEN TO CORRECT THE FAILURE HAVE BEEN TO RE-TIGHTEN THE STRAPS, HOWEVER THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY SOLUTION, AS THE STRAPS ARE NOT CORRECTLY RETAINED IN A TIGHT OR LOCKED POSITION (AS SEEN BY THE SELF-LOOSENING ACTION). IN CRUISE CONTROL MODE ON HIGHWAY, WHEN SET IN THE RANGE OF 50 TO 65 MILES PER HOUR, THE CAR SOMETIMES SUDDENLY ACCELERATES BY ITSELF AND KEEPS ACCELERATING, EVEN ON THE FLAT ROAD. THE SPEED CHANGE IS FAST, IN A FEW SECONDS. FOR EXAMPLE, ON A FLAT HIGHWAY, SET THE CRUISE CONTROL AT SPEED OF 60 MILES PER HOUR. IF THAT UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION HAPPENS THE SPEED WOULD KEEP GOING UP TO 65, 70, EVEN MORE MILES PER HOUR IN A FEW SECONDS. CANCEL CRUISE CONTROL OR STEP ON BREAK WOULD STOP THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES OVER THE PAST HALF A YEAR (I DON'T USE CRUISE CONTROL THAT OFTEN). MY BEST GUESS IS PROBABLY 5% OR MORE OF THE CHANCE. EVERY TIME IT HAPPENED I JUST CANCEL CRUISE CONTROL AND RESET. I PURCHASED A 2009 HONDA CRV IN FEB. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE REAR/SIDE VISIBILITY DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE AND VOICED MY CONCERN TO THE SALESWOMAN. SHE ASSURED ME THAT I "WOULD GET USED TO IT." WELL, I HAVEN'T! I HAVE SERIOUS VISIBILITY PROBLEMS WHEN BACKING UP AND CHANGING LANES IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. (I AM A VERY SAFE DRIVER AND HAVE NEVER BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY TRAFFIC VIOLATION OTHER THAN 1 SPEEDING TICKET OVER 30 YEARS AGO AND 1 PARKING TICKET THAT COULD NOT BE AVOIDED.) I BACKED INTO A SIGN POLE IN A PARKING LOT IN MID APRIL, DAMAGING THE REAR RIGHT CORNER OF THE VEHICLE-IN THE BLIND SPOT. TWO DAYS AGO, WHILE I WAS VERY SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, I CAME VERY CLOSE TO A WOMAN PUSHING A BABY IN A CART. I WAS HORRIFIED AND IMMEDIATELY ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE CAR AND AMERICAN HONDA-BOTH UNSUCCESSFULLY. I SPENT HOURS E-MAILING AND TALKING ON THE PHONE, ASKING FOR A SOLUTION FOR THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM FROM BOTH THE DEALER AND AMERICAN HONDA. A MAN THAT I SPOKE WITH AT AMERICAN HONDA TOLD ME THAT THE DESIGN OF THE '09 CRV IS THE SAME AS THE '07 CRV WHICH HE OWNS. HE STATED THAT HE HAD PARTIALLY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BY ADDING SMALL ROUND CONCAVE MIRRORS LIKE THOSE USED FOR TRAILERS/RV'S, BUT DID NOT DOCUMENT THAT HE HAD SAID THIS. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT I OWN A NEW, BUT DAMAGED, VEHICLE THAT HAS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW WHICH CAUSES MAJOR BLIND ZONES. I FEAR THAT IF SOMETHING IS NOT DONE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM ON ALL OF THESE CRV'S DRIVING AROUND, MORE PEOPLE WILL BE INJURED OR KILLED. I FEEL THAT AMERICAN HONDA NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DESIGN FLAW. FINALLY, TODAY THE ASSIST.
