STEERING
69 complaints
Reoccurring steering issue- After having the steering wheel rac & gear box replaced in April 2024 on my 2022 CRV (purchased brand new), the issue is reoccurring in Nov. 2025. . My 2022 CRV steering wheel sticks when driving on the interstate and doesn’t want to turn and is difficult to steer causing me to have to jerk the wheel and nearly wreck my car. The steering wheel also feels loose and spins around and round while at a stop. The steering wheel knocks/pops during a hard turns. Since this a wide spread issue well documented online, I would expect for there to be a recall - but there is not one on my 2022 CRV even though I have experienced the issue twice now. The dealership and Honda Corp is agreeing to pay a large portion of the $3000+ bill but I am still stuck paying nearly $200 for a defect that should be covered fully due to obvious manufacturing defects in the part. The car is 3 years old and has had the steering wheel rac replaced twice! Ridiculous!!!

When driving on highway the steering wheel sticks.
Dec 15, 2025
When driving, there is a popping noise and the steering wheel is very sticky. Not all the time and more noticeable at lower speeds. Sometimes I have to slightly jerk the wheel to get it to respond. This does not seem safe. I took it to my local Honda dealer who said I needed a steering rack replacement and that I should contact Honda Corp. because that shouldn't happen in a 2022 CRV. There is a similar recall for other year models but not the 2022. Honda agreed to only pay a small portion (less than 25%) of the cost but the rest is on me. Issue began couple weeks after my 3 year warranty was up.
Nov 19, 2025
The steering sticks and makes a noise intermittently when turning the steering wheel. You cannot count on a smooth turn when turning. The dealership verified this and said the steering gear had to be replaced. While there are countless Honda CRV complaints about this, on several model years, including mine ,and a recall on some of the VIN's, my VIN was not included. Honda recall would not help with this issue. Had to pay to have the dealership replace the steering gear, at a "discounted rate of $1444.25. My vehicle only has 19, 497 miles on it.
Oct 17, 2025
The steering seems to get a sticky feel after driving for a while. The steering wheel will get a sticky feel while a slight turn in the road and it will happen either turning left or right. Then on the highway it seems to happen so you can't keep the car going straight.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

On three separate occasions my automatic brakes designed to avoid a collision have engaged while I was driving highway speed with no vehicle or obstruction I'm front of my car.
Nov 08, 2025
While driving on a straight road at 35 mph the car suddenly and aggressively applied the brakes without driver input and without another car or obstacle in front of the car. Had there been a car behind me a rear collision would have been likely. The weather was sunny and there were deep shadows of trees cast on the road. This is the fourth time this has happened the past year. This is my first report to NHTSA.
Nov 03, 2025
I was driving at 10am today on a local road, about 35mph, with no car in front of me, nor behind me. I was the only car in the area. Suddenly both the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system and the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) were activated. I was concerned when it happened, not knowing if the car would come to a stop. I called my local Honda Dealer Service Department, asking if they could check it out. He said they could take it for a test drive to see if it would happen again. Since this was the only time it happened we agreed to wait to see if it happens again before bringing it in. Once home I searched the NHTSA database and discovered similar instances, and an open Investigation, EA24002. I wanted to be sure to add my incident to the others to help in finding a resolution.
Aug 18, 2025
On 4 seperate occasions I have had my collision avoidance system activate suddenly, with no warning. Immediately initiating braking with NO danger, no car, nothing in front of me. Twice going thru an intersection, twice crossing a security barrier at work. My dash gives the brake warning and within 5 seconds immediately brakes for nothing in front of me. It almost caused an accident with the car behind me twice. It has not been troubleshot by the dealer or mechanic. The dealer hasn't been responsive to past concerns about other problems with the infotainment system/display so im not expecting them to take this seriously. It also doesnt duplicate easily.

Battery went dead when car was less than 4 years old!
Jan 27, 2026
While driving at a normal speed (55mph) on I-5 north in Bellingham, WA when the sunroof on my Honda CR-V imploded. It sounded like a very loud gunshot. The shock of the incident startled my passenger and I and I immediately began looking her over to see if there was any blood. I looked up and saw very small shards of glass falling through the sunroof and a large hole. It was fortunate those shards did not cause damage. I immediately closed the sunroof and exited the highway. There were no rocks in the car, very little glass entered the car and a large hole was in the sunroof. The dealer did not believe it was due to a glass defect, he felt that something large had hit the car. This was not possible- we were on a clear highway and there was no sign of anything in the car or on the sunroof that would explaijn the damage. I do not want other people to have this experience- it is frightening and could lead to accidents.

I am writing to formally report a serious safety incident involving my [2022 Honda CRV], which is currently under warranty. On [XXX], while my wife was driving along the [XXX] from Soldotna to Anchorage, Alaska, the sunroof of my vehicle spontaneously exploded without any external impact or provocation. At the time of the incident: The temperature was approximately 65°F, eliminating thermal stress as a factor. There were no other vehicles nearby and no overhead obstructions. A Thule rooftop cargo carrier was mounted above the sunroof, providing a physical barrier that would have prevented any object from striking the glass. The vehicle has fewer than 30,000 miles and is less than three years old, qualifying it for coverage under Honda’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty. The explosion resulted in shattered glass raining into the top, creating a hazardous situation while driving. This incident appears consistent with other reports and complaints involving spontaneous sunroof explosions in Honda vehicles, some of which have led to legal action and consumer s INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

When I drive my car will slow down by itself about 10mph without me taking foot off acceleration. It’s very unsafe, as my car will randomly slow down, causing people to possibly rear end me, making me scared to drive it. My taillights were also flashing. Took it to Honda dealership and they told me nothing was wrong. The problem persisted so I told them I needed to bring it back. They told me they never got it to slow down for them, but the lights flashed. They told me it was the body control module and charged me almost $900. A month later it is STILL slowing down by itself randomly. No warning lights ever come on.

I purchased a brand new Honda CRV 2022 ,VIN [XXX] , on [XXX] in Herson's Honda Rockville Dealership, Maryland. Shortly after the purchase the navigation system started to malfunction creating putting me in a danger on the road. After 10 minutes of driving the map goes blurred then screen gets saturated, the map gets smeared. It creates unsafe driving experience. I have addressed this issue to the Honda service center several times in 2022 and 2023 separately and during each routine oil change. There was no successful solution so far. I feel very unsafe and discouraged to drive this car with this ongoing issue. Specially with the kids in the car. I had several situations of losing the control of direction while on the highway due to map getting unclear. In March and April 2024 I reached out to American Honda, they created a case, sent me a survey, sent me to the service center but did not provide any solution. There was no written solution by the side of American Honda, only phone calls advising this is a software issue with Apple and Android and told me to wait for the software update. It has been two years, no solution. This problem substantially impairs the car's value or use. I have only driven it 17,000.00 miles since I don't feel safe driving long distances in it. On July 17, 2025 at approximately 6:30 AM, the sunroof on my 2022 Honda CR-V spontaneously shattered while the vehicle was in motion. There were no external factors involved—no impact from rocks or debris, and no extreme temperature conditions, as it was early in the morning and relatively cool. The sound was loud and sudden, similar to an explosion, followed by glass fragments falling onto the sunroof cover. Thankfully, no injuries occurred, but it was an alarming and potentially dangerous situation. I believe this incident may point to a manufacturing or design defect and would like to report it for investigation. Please advise on any further steps I should take or if additional documentation is needed.

The rear windshield in my 2022 CR-V EX randomly shattered when we opened the driver's side door. There was no impact from any objects as the vehicle was stationary all night. We believe it may be related to others' issues with HR-V's as well with the rear windshield randomly shattering.

Driving N on Hwy US-24 in Redford MI near Detroit Diesel at approx 45mph on Sun morning 4/30/2023, the moonroof exploded and shattered glass fell onto driver and front seat passenger. Shattered glass also broke loose and fell to rear of vehicle, causing car behind us to avoid debris by changing lane. The sudden failure of sun/moonroof was without warning, no apparent object struck it, we were not passing under a bridge. The loud boom of explosion was alarming to driver and passenger. The shade was open and we quickly closed it to stop more broken glass from falling onto us. It was raining, approximately 40-45 deg F outside, the car interior temp was 68 deg F. We made temporary repair with cardboard and emergency rain poncho to close opening in roof. We proceeded home at 30-40mph. I collected broken glass by hand, then vacuumed all interior surfaces thoroughly; found no foreign object that could have struck glass. We contacted dealer Monday reporting problem. Dealer stated Honda unlikely to cover glass under warranty claim. Dealer stated there was no recall, technical bulletin or product update concerning sun/moonroofs spontaneously exploding. Dealer did contact Honda and replacement was made under warranty as 'goodwill.' We are happy Honda covered cost of replacement, but did not acknowledge any material defect, workmanship or safety issue. Vehicle is kept in garage when home and open parking lot at work; to our knowledge the roof glass panel was not compromised by any object hitting or scratching it. This is a safety issue: roof glass panels should not explode without warning and broken glass fall on driver or passengers under normal vehicle operation. The loud noise at failure is distracting to driver. Further, broken glass may fall to rear of vehicle. These glass panels' failure mode should be similar to that of front windshield where broken glass retains some integrity. Until then, consumers should be advised, shades closed and emergency closure kits issued.

While driving with a passenger across Salt Lake City on I-15 yesterday, going the speed limit and no surrounding vehicles, the passenger window imploded into a million tiny pieces sending glass all over the passenger and even as far as the driver (me). We did not see any evidence of a rock or other object hitting the window and there wasn't anything unusual inside the car. The outside temperature was 30 degrees and the car had been in a heated garage all night. The passenger had cuts on his hands, but he was wearing sun glasses which protected his eyes. He had glass pieces all over him. I honestly believe this was a spontaneous event, but I suppose there is a remote chance that a rock could have hit the window. But there weren't any cars in the area or overpasses.

Injuries: 1
The heating system on the vehicle is insufficient. The cabin does not warm up when idling in the winter. Defrosting on cold days becomes an issue which creates a potential hazard for visibility. The red bar on the temperature guage will not appear when idling and the temperature rises and the red bar appears only after the car has been driven. Searching online on this issue indicates this is an issue where many CRV owners have had this weak heating system issue. I contacted the dealer and they said "Yes we are aware of that. And that's the way it is and nothing can be done about it." So there appears to be no intent by Honda to address this weak heating system issue which is a big problem in winter weather. Thus my filing this complaint. Honda should perform a recall and correct this problem.

Day after bought car, battery dead and all lights lit up on the dash when tried to start. Dealership gave a 256 point inspection and said car passed all elements. Jumped battery with a jump pack then battery started smoking and leaking fluid. Had dealership tow and diagnose problem, replaced the battery. Two days later started car on a cold day and check engine light started flashing and car went into limp mode. Would not accelerate on the highway past 35 mph during heavy traffic leading to unsafe conditions. Drove to service center at the dealership while still flashing and not accelerating. Dealership said it was a cylinder misfire.

My wife reported that as she was making a right turn, driving home in the rain, the radio screen slowly faded to black and then the dashboard went black as well. There was a loss of power but the car did not turn off. The vehicle is a hybrid and it appears that the car was running using the battery as after a short distance the radio screen and dashboard both came on. She does not know if the check engine came on. This is the first time this has happened. If it happens again then I will take the car to the dealership and have it checked out. I am reporting this as it seems that others have had similar issues but so far a common cause has not been found.

The above would not let me check ALL of the boxes. I’m having continued problems with my 2022 Honda CRV Hybrid Touring, with every warning light on the car all of a sudden starts flashing and eventually the car looses complete power. This is the third time it has happened to me, and after taking it to two different Honda dealerships, no one can tell me what is going on, and then they send me back out on the road, only for it to happen again. Every warning light on the car lights up and every bell goes off. Yet, no one can tell me a thing! It’s resulted in me being stranded and the car inoperable.

I change my oil about every 3,000 with FULL SYNTHETIC oil. I check the oil level to make sure it isn’t low. I smell a very strong odor of gasoline on the dipstick. I’ve heard Honda has been having a problem with oil dilution. My CRV is very hesitant at times and almost caused me to get into an accident on a few occasions. Something needs to be done about this and the Government needs Honda to issue a recall. Also they’re having an electrical issue. The dash and screen flicker on and off. This is very frustrating especially at night.

I purchased a new Honda CR-V EXL AWD in Jan 2022 and it has only 1971 miles. Now, the transmission is completely dead with these miles. The dealership informed me that this requires a new transmission which is covered under Honda warranty. The strange thing is that I didn't receive any warning or notification in my dashboard that transmission is getting bad/worse. Luckily, the car was stopped on a residential county road but I can't imagine if the power is getting dropped and stopped on the freeway without any warning. This is one of the biggest safety concerns and this would be a life threatening incident. I have already owned a Honda civic in the past and never had any issue, but I was highly disappointed with this incident and lost confidence with Honda. Please refund my money back :-( What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request ? Ans: Transmission failed. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Ans: The transmission failed without any warning and the vehicle stopped completely on the road, which is a life threatening issue, if that happens on the freeway/highways. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center?  Ans: UNKNOWN Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Ans: This is a brand new vehicle which was bought in Jan 2022 and has 1971 miles on it. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Ans: No warning or indications.

All warning notices started going off & continuously cycling through all warnings possible for everything. Vehicle suddenly lost propulsion. I was on local roadways without heavy traffic or high speeds but had this occurred on a freeway it could have caused a serious threat of injury or death to myself & other vehicles behind me (could cause multi vehicle crash). This has happened 4 times. This last incident is unresolved. The 1st time at 33,069 miles the dealership indicated vehicle had code P0303 cylinder #3 misfire, cylinder A/F test cylinder #1& #2 failed. Oil on dipstick had strong fuel smell. Replaced fouled spark plugs, oil & filter change. Incident #2 at 33,206 miles had cylinder #3 misfire code, cylinder #2 failed cylinder A/F test. Replaced all fuel injectors with new parts kit including gaskets, fuel tubes etc Incident#3 at 33,699 miles. Cylinder #3 code P0303. Swapped #1 & #3 coil packs and connected HDS laptop, watched Cylinder #3 have misfire counts, removed #3 coil & spark plug, installed pressure tester & inserted boroscope into #3 cylinder & watched coolant run down cylinder wall. Cylinder #3 head out of specification for straightness. Spec is 0.003 & head flatness measured 0.0032. Replaced cylinder head & all related gaskets, o-rings, bolts etc. Incident #4 dealership notified, vehicle needs to be towed to shop therefore no resolution at this time. Information I (owner) found online indicates 1.5L turbo engine design flaw leading to chronic & repeated gasket/cylinder failure issues for vehicles with this engine. Replacement with OEM parts will not resolve. [XXX] Several class-action lawsuits have been filed in the United states & Canada related to this engine/issue. Two incidents where the Engine suddenly shut off. Incident 1 (August 4th): We had come to a complete stop at a traffic light. After a few seconds the engine shut off (we had Auto Start/Stop disabled), the dash and radio briefly stopped and then the dashboard's indicator lights lid up as they would before a car is started. We put the gear shift into Park and restarted the car. It started right away and we had no issues for 1 week. Incident 2 (August 11th): While pulling into our inclined driveway and almost stopped or just stopped, the Engine shut off again (this time Auto Start/Stop was active) and the car started to roll back. We applied the brakes, the car stopped. We put the gear shift into Park and restarted the car. The car restarted without problems. We are worried because this happened for a second time now and we are not sure if this sudden Engine shut off could occur while driving / driving at high speeds.

The automatic braking system is repeatedly braking inappropriately, with nothing in front of us or in the road. We have not gotten into an accident yet but have come close twice. I was in a dedicated lane to make a left turn. There was no vehicle in front of me and no pedestrians in the crosswalk. I was coasting to the light at about 20mph or less as I could see that it was red and because I am familiar with the intersection , I knew it would not turn green immediately. At 2 to 3 car lengths back from where I was going to stop all of a sudden the car jolted to a stop. The car immediately shut down (quit running). There was no car behind me or I am sure my car would have been rear ended. I got out of the car to see if there was something under it or if I could see if something had fallen off the underside of the car. I tried to restart the car but it would not start. By that time there were 2 cars behind me waiting to turn. I got out of the car and went back to the nearest car and told the driver she needed to go around my car. I got back into my car and tried to restart it and it started. I had absolutely no warning before this happened. I did not take the car for an inspection but I did call the salesman (as soon as I could). He said it might be because of the forward collision system and suggested that I could turn it off. He said that the system is very sensitive and even a leaf might set it off. Even though it was in October, it was not a windy day and most trees in my area had not started losing their leaves. I bought this car because of the safety equipment as I am [XXX] and in good health, but I am a practical person. I did tell the salesman that if there is another incident that I would be coming in for an inspection. I have been anxious about this and have learned others have had this problem. Hankook 235/60 R18 103H A few months ago, one of my Hankook tires had a flat tire. At the tire shop, I was told my 3 remaining tires would need replacement soon as well. My car's odometer at this time was roughly 21,000 miles. The tires are originally the tires from purchase of the new car. I then went to a Honda dealership for further inspection. I was told that my remaining 3 tires were in "yellow" status and could be replaced at a later service date. Today, May 3, 2025, I went to the Honda dealership to change my 3 remaining tires. Despite making an appointment, they didn't order the tires I had requested. So, I then went to another tire shop. Upon removing my tires, one of the employees called me over and told me I had a defective tire. My car is now around 23,500 miles. I don't know why the service center at the Honda dealership didn't alert me about the defective tire. I called Hankook when 1st tire had a flat. A representative told me that no warranty would cover this. The Honda dealership also told me that they couldn't assist with this. I needed to call the manufacturer or check my warranty.

2 issues: 1. Automatic Emergency Braking started braking randomly when there was no danger at all. 2. Got Lane Departure Warning a few times, when the vehicle actually stayed in the lane.
Aug 02, 2023
The car intermittently slams on the brakes, often at high speeds, and the brakes sticks, leaving me potentially unable to avoid a rear-end collision. This has happened twice with no obstacle in front of the vehicle in the last month and once within the last month where an obstacle was ahead but at a far enough distance the AES should not have been triggered, let alone stick. The front sensors (behind the rear view mirror and behind the Honda logo on the grill) have been inspected for damage by the dealership and user. They are in perceivably good working condition. This problem appears to be connected to a similar malfunction with LKAS, in which the system is turned off (according to the vehicle displays and verified by following owner manual instructions) and the car is driven on a surface with no lanes (I.e. a dirt road) and LKAS indicates there is a lane departure. There is no option to turn either system completely off, which leaves the driver with no recourse in the event these systems malfunction.

On Wednesday, November 26, 2025, I took my 2022 Honda CR-V Hybrid to the dealership for a routine oil change. The service team told me that all systems showed the vehicle was in good condition. They advised me to return for my next oil change and regular maintenance. I did not drive anywhere on Thursday, November 27, which was Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, November 28, while driving to work on the highway, the engine warning light turned on and my car began to slow down. Pressing the accelerator did not help—the vehicle would not speed up and lost power while I was driving on the highway. This was a very stressful and unsafe situation. I had to pull over onto the shoulder with a line of cars behind me. My car was towed to the dealership. The dealership said they could not find anything wrong with it. However, I experienced a clear and serious problem. Not only did I miss work, but I also had to pay $238.95 for the towing service. After researching, I found there was a recall issued on December 18, 2023, for a fuel pump failure that can cause the engine to stall while driving, which increases the risk of a crash. However, this recall did not include the 2022 model year, which is the year of my vehicle. The recall describes exactly what happened to me. Honda should include the 2022 CR-V Hybrid in the recall and therefore; replace the fuel pump module at no cost to help ensure everyone’s safety.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

The most urgent issue with my vehicle is the automatic braking system. During several instances driving during the day and at night, my car has done what’s referred to as “phantom braking” where it detects something in the road, though the road is completely clear and open and the brakes engage and suddenly stop my car. It’s happened on occasions where it triggers the brakes lightly and it’s happened so intensely that my seat buckle has locked up throwing my head forward and my car comes to a near stop on the FREEWAY. It happens on regular roads as well, but the freeway is especially dangerous especially traveling at a higher rate of speed for the breaks to be engaged and rapidly slow my car down. I have been so fortunate that the times it has happened the people behind me had enough reaction time or there was no one behind me. This has happened on numerous occasions and for almost every incident it occurred I’ve had a witness (my parter at the time) they saw how jarring, intense and dangerous the braking was and how it happened out of nowhere. I brought this up to my dealership but they kept shooing me away saying that it’s not a problem and if I wanted to I could turn the automatic braking system off every single time I start my car (because that resets once your car is off and will be active the next time it’s in use) after an extreme incident on the freeway that almost got me into an accident (with a witness) I brought it to them again to which they told me my warranty was up and if I wanted to “check it out” for problems I would need to pay out of pocket and again recommended that I turn it off every time I start my vehicle. They said they wanted to see the problem themselves but it does not happen every drive. You have no idea when it is going to happen so it’s impossible to test with the intention of seeing for yourself. It’s completely random. I’ve also had electrical issues but the brake system is my priority.

When buckling my 3 kids in this newly purchased car I noticed the middle seat belt latch and the driver side passenger latches are flipped which results in seatbelts crisscrossing when both buckled. This means this supposedly “5 seater” car cannot safely buckle each seat making it a 4 seater car. Problem can be fixed if the belt buckles are flipped around.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
I had driven may a mile and was turning right onto a street. As soon as I turned onto the street my car just stopped and would not move. I had no power -- I put my gas pedal all the way down and it would only inch along. I was so scared that I would get rear ended. I immediately put on my flashers and prayed no one would hit me. I finally inched my way into the grass. I kept trying to get power to my car but it would not get any power. I sat there for about a half hour and kept trying. I finally got enough power to be able to turn around and get back home. The next morning I went to start my car and it was a very very rough start to get it started. I decided then to take it to the Honda dealer. On my way to the Honda dealer, my car did the "lose power" again. I had to sit there for about 15 minutes before I finally had enough power. I "inched" my way to the dealer. They called and said it was the fuel injectors and that they needed to be replaced. My car is a 2022 with 56,000 miles on it. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN with that low of mileage. Honda has said this was not a covered repair even though I had no power to my vehicle. I did research and have found that there is a definite issue with the 2022 Honda CRV fuel injectors but they only have covered certain VIN numbers. My VIN number is not in that replacement -- which I don't understand. This should be a recall on ALL Honda 2022 CRV's. This is a very expensive repair and I feel Honda should cover the replacement of these fuel injectors.

We purchased this vehicle as a Honda Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. I have included a copy of the 182-Point Inspection Checklist that I received when I/we purchased the vehicle. The issue is the weatherstripping on both sides of the middle row. The material does not fit the area and causes wind and weather to effect the interior of the vehivcle. We feel that this issue is a manufacturer defect and should have been detected/rectified during that 182-Point Inspection. My wife and myself are the only user of the vehicle and we never have a reason to sit in the middle row. Per chance, our daughter's dog was in the middle row and when I turned to check on him, I noticed that weatherstripping issue. Upon reaching home, I further noticed that the issue existed on both the passenger and driver side - middle row doors. I also found a Technical Information & Support Group bulletin addressed to "All Honda Service Managers/Advisors", "RE: Request for Parts: 2023-2024 Accord & CR-V Rear Door Weatherstrip". I realize this bulletin does not address my year vehicle but wanted to bring to light that this seems to be an issue that is prevalent on the CR-V. We notified the dealer who inspected and confirmed that the issue exists but were told that because the care is not longer under original warranty, the repair would cost us $600+. We have since notified American Honda USA under the extended warranty we purchased and feel that they are dragging their feet on this issue. I received a call from American Honda USA and agreed to a settlement to have the issue resolved at the dealer where we bought the vehicle for a total out-of-pocket to me of $200 + taxes. I was supposed to get a call from the dealer to schedule the repair but nothing. I contacted Honda America once again and am being told it is being looked into.

While driving on the interstate at 60+ speeds, my steering wheel sticks and has locked up causing me to jerk the wheel so hard that I went into another lane and almost wrecked. Initially the issue happened when the car had 31k miles on it and was repaired by Honda under warranty. Now, at 51k the same steering issue is happening again and they are charging me to fix it. The first part replacement only last one year and 5 months. There is a well known issue with Honda CRV steering - why isn’t my 2022 CRV included in the recall? The steering wheel also feels like it becomes detached and loose when steering in a parking lot and knocks/pops with hard turns. The drivers side seatbelt doesn’t roll back up when disconnected causing it to stay loose and fall in the door way which has caused several large dents in my car due to the seatbelt falling in the door way as I close the door.

Went back manager drove it and said might be some part that needs greasing but he would check with the Honda corporation. and get back to us. 10/23/2025 Service advisor called us and said it was the power steering rack.Repair bill would be 4400.00. 10/27/2025 We talked to service advisor to see who manager talked to regarding this repair. Service advisor said manager would call us on 10/28/2025. We did not receive a call and did not receive a call on 10/20/2025. 10/30/2025 We filed a complaint with Honda corporation. our vehicle is available for inspection. What we have read about this kind of recall is that steering wheel could permanently stick possibly causing an accident. The fact the manager said it was the power steering rack has not been confirmed . Some Hondas have been recalled for the power steering rack. Vehicle has not been inspected by any dealer or mechanic. This sticking issue started about 9/1/2025..There were no warning lamps or messages.

My vehicle has had a worsening issue with the steering wheel sticking, especially when driving on winding roads. It is most pronounced when the steering wheel is turned to the left. Instead of smoothly returning to center, the steering wheel sticks in the left position and has to be forced right to center or to turn back right. Obviously having steering that is stuck or that has to be forced can be dangerous, especially at highway speeds. It also sometimes makes a knocking sound when turned all the way to the left. I have not had the vehicle inspected yet, but I have contacted Honda and my local dealership about the issue and am able to bring the vehicle in for inspection. There have been no warning lamps, messages, or anything similar.

While steering and turning, the wheel continuously feels sticky and there is a clicking and squeaking sound when I begin to turn the wheel. It is available to inspect. This vehicle does not feel safe. I have had to turn the wheel with more effort when changing lanes on the highway causing overcorrection and the brake also slipped when I was braking before turning to get onto a major street. I have taken it to Firestone to get the brakes checked and for routine oil maintenance and a leak in the windshield reservoir. After the oil change, a Firestone service tech recommended maintenance and repairs including an alignment, new brake pads and rotors, so I took it back to Enterprise, the car dealership where I bought this vehicle on December 5, 2024. Enterprise reluctantly took it back to their service department and checked the vehicle's steering and brakes, denying there was anything wrong with either. The manager at Enterprise stated that the sound I was hearing was normal wear and tear on the vehicle but I am still hearing the clicking and squeaking sound and when I turn the wheel it still feels sticky. There have been no warning lights flashing on the dash, but again, the wheel continuously feels sticky, and I have to overcorrect my turns. There is also a clicking and squeaking sound when I turn the wheel.

Had my 3rd service done on my 2022 Honda CR-V EX-L 5/24/21 and for the third time the rear end was out of alignment. When I researched the issue online I found that this was an issue with this body style CR-V and a TSB was issued for this due to the excessive tire wear that is happening due to this alignment issue. My tires had been making a whomping sound since after my second service at 15000 miles. My vehicle now has 22750 miles on the tires and has worn unevenly causing the whomping sound and need to be replaced prematurely. They have worn down from 10.1/32nds to between 5/32nd to 6/32nds depending where on the tire you measure. This is due to the alignment being out and causing this uneven wear. After showing the dealership the TSB about this they reached out to their American Honda district rep who graciously agreed to assist in helping with the cost of replacing my tires due to this issue. I had also contacted Honda Consumer Affairs to report my unhappiness with this issue and they informed me that my year model was not covered by the issued TSB 20-081 and 20-048 and refused to honor the repair under 20-081 and pay to have the alignment done to the new specs described in TSB 20-048. They stated It only covers through model year 2018-2021 which is the same body style as the 2022 and I am having the same issue that was reported as the previous years vehicle. The alignment should not be going out in that short of time and causing excessive tire wear. I did not have this issues with my two previous Honda's being driven over the same roads. The 2022 model CR-V should be included in the TSB's.

I had a medium sized doe run in front of the vehicle while on the highway. I had the adaptive cruise control set to 62 MPH with lane keeping assist and all other safety features enabled. When the deer ran out out in front of the vehicle the emergency breaking did not engage, nor did it flash the warning or make the chime. It caused major damage to the front center and drivers side of the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. However, after the collision, the airbag light on the dash illuminated and stayed on. The airbag light has never came on before other than the illumination test when first starting the car. Also, the Hazzard lights did not com on automatically. The collision had enough impact to send the several hundred pound deer over 100' down the road. The only safety feature that partly worked was the retracting seat belts. I say partly worked because only the lap portion tightened. There was no tightening of the shoulder portion, which is now locked in place.

The car started sounding an alarm and flashing an idiotic warning message that says "Adaptive Cruise Control Problem". Yes it said "problem." It also flashed a message that said "BRAKE SYSTEM." I called the dealer and they instructed me how to turn off Adaptive Cruise Control, and it did NOT stop the alarm and the flashing messages. They told me it was ok to drive and to bring it in to the dealer. I did that. Had to get ride so I could leave the car. The alarm stopped on the way to the dealer. The next day they told me they could not find what was wrong with the car, but it was ok to drive, and it if happened again, take a video. If they didn't know what was wrong with the car, HOW DID THEY KNOW IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE? I picked up the car and a couple days later it did the same thing. Even turning the car off and cranking it back up would not make it stop. I did stop and take videos of the flashing messages, which are attached here, and also sent them to the dealer. I took the car in and they said they got the videos, and they would now be able to fix it. The next day they said come pick it up, but said they THOUGHT it needed the front radar/camera replaced but they did not have one. They said it would be July before they could get the part. But they continued to say it is safe to drive. Since then, it had done this several more times, and I took videos again. Those are attached as well. They called today and said it would be August before they could get the parts. I strongly suspect that they do not actually know what it wrong, and that they have not done any actual microelectronic or software troubleshooting, and they are just guessing that this part will fix it. I am now forced to drive a car that is questionably safe. I mean, when an alarm sounds and a warning light flashes that says "BRAKE SYSTEM" how can it be safe to drive?

I just bought (last month) a new, 2022 Honda CR-V-EX-L. I have always been a Honda girl, and decided it was time for a new car and bought another Honda…..my 3rd CR-V (I also had a pilot). Anyways, I just bought this car last month. It is a beautiful car, but I feel it’s dangerous for two reasons. The biggest concern is that the hood was redesigned from previous models that I had, and now the sides of the hood protrudes higher than the rest of the hood, making it quite difficult to see over the hood, particularly going around turns and up hills. Which is a huge safety issue. And you may be thinking, why don’t I just lift the seat……well the seat is as high as it goes (a definite flaw), so that is of no help. Secondly, the audio system is definitely a hazard. The touch screen does not always work, and you may have to push on the screen several times before getting it to work, thus distracting the driver. Additionally, when talking to people on Bluetooth and one party hangs up, the phone does not go back to the radio automatically, and you have to keep touching the touchscreen to get you back to what you were on prior to the call. Definitely another safety issue. That being said, I am mostly worried about the hood issue. I do not feel safe continuing to drive my brand new Honda, which is really sad, since I buy Honda's because of their safety ratings. If this is an issue for me, I am sure this an issue for others, and likely has already contributed to accidents. Thank-you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
