I'M CURRENTLY DEALING WITH THE TIMING CHAIN NIGHTMARE SO MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD AND ARE HAVING. OF COURSE JUST AS MOST OF THE OTHERS I'M OUT OF WARRANTY AND REALLY FRUSTRATED THAT INFINITI HASN'T STEPPED UP TO THE PLATE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM PROPERLY AS OPPOSED TO RENAMING THE QX56 TO QX 80 TO SAVE THEMSELVES, LEAVING CONSUMERS SCRAMBLING WITH EXPENSIVE TIME CONSUMING FIXES TO A KNOWN DEFECT ON THEIR PART. WHERE'S THE ACCOUNTABILITY ON THEIR PART, DO A CERTAIN NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR BE INJURED BEFORE THE CONSUMERS ARE PROVIDED WITH THE PROPER ASSISTANCE? WHO REALLY LOOKS OUT FOR US? A recall was done in 2016 obviously they need to expand the Vin number

The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti QX56. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would vibrate violently. Additionally, the vehicle had experienced intermittent power loss and had gone into limp mode. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where it was diagnosed with needing the timing chain replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

ENGINE IS MAKING LOUD WHINING NOISE AND JERKS. NOISE IS HEARD WHEN THE TRUCK STARTS AND IS ON IDDLE. THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED IN 2016 ITB16-015. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS CAMPAIGN. WHEN CALLING INFINITY CORPORATE THEY DENIED FIXING THE ISSUE BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT SEE THE MAINTENANCE RECORD FOR THE TRUCK SINCE IT WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INFINITY DEALER. THE TRUCK GETS MAINTENANCE FROM OTHER PLACES LIKE JIFFY LUBE ETC. OUR CLAIM WAS DENIED THEY SAID THE CAMPAGIN EXPIRED IN FEBRUARY 2018.

LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER I GOT THE TIMING DEBACLE FIXED, I GET A "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" ON 2011 QX56. ACCORDING TO MY WARRANTY APPROVED MECHANIC BOTH CATS WERE GONE AND WERE NOT COVERED. THIS COMPLAINT IS THE BEGINNING OF MY GOAL OF GETTING ASSURANT OR INFINITI TO OWN THIS PROBLEM SINCE THE COMBINED CA AND FED CAT WARRANTY IS 150K MILES. MY WARRANTY SHOULD COVER.

INFINITI HAS NEVER OFFICIALLY ISSUED A RECALL BUT SHOULD HAVE SINCE ALL 2011-2013 INFINITI QX56 HAVE CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUES THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. IT IS COVERED IF YOU REPLACE BEFORE 80K MILES BUT IF YOU DO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT COULD COST YOU $6,000. IT IS AN ISSUE WITH ALL OF THEM THAT INFINITI DOES NOT WANT TO ADDRESS BUT SHOULD RECALL AND HELP CUSTOMERS SINCE IT IS AN ERROR THEY MADE IN THESE MODELS WHICH IS NOW FIXED IN NEWER MODELS.

IN JUNE 2017, I HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE POWER TRAIN RECALL. IN JULY 2017 (87K MILES), I HAD A 420 BANK 1 CAT CODE, AND REPLACED ONE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. IN DECEMBER 2017 (94K MILES), THE 'CHECK ENGINE SOON' LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN, AND THE 430 CODE SHOWS THE OTHER CATALYTIC CONVERTER (BANK 2) NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT SEEMS THE CATS ON THESE VEHICLES ARE TERRIBLE, AND ONCE ONE GOES OUT, THE OTHER FAILS TOO. THIS IS VERY EXPENSIVE...ABOUT $2,000 EACH IN MY CASE. THIS SEEMS TOO COMMON BASED ON THE REVIEWS I'VE READ ONLINE NOW. I FEEL LIKE INFINITI SHOULD COVER THE COST OF REPLACING AT LEAST ONE OF THE CATS, BUT I WAS DENIED ASSISTANCE.

THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY INFINITI SERVICE. THE RIGHT SIDE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED. WE REPAIRED THAT (ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO). TODAY, THE SAME SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT IS THE LEFT CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE TOTAL AMOUNT SPENT TO REPAIR BOTH OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS WILL BE OVER THREE THOUSAND DOLLARS. FROM SPEAKING TO THE MECHANIC AND RESEARCHING ONLINE, IT APPEARS THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS FAILING ON THIS VEHICLE IS A PREVALENT PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE ISSUE TO FIX AND IT SEEMS LIKE MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. ALTHOUGH THERE MAY NOT BE A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE REPORTING THIS ISSUE ON THIS SITE, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING BASED ON THE ONLINE FORUMS I HAVE READ.

SUSPENSION

A subframe is a key structural component of every car. As such, it stands to reason that it should last as long as the car itself. Doing much research on this model suspension and subframes become rusted as I didn’t know this when purchasing making it very unsafe . I experienced being involved in almost 2 accidents. Very dangerous. Subframe split in half and suspension. Something needs to be done as a lot of people are going thru this issue and Infiniti slogan claims “new horizons” by no means new horizon going to heaven by driving their vehicles.

The rear controls arms and cradle mount were riddled with severe fissures, causing car to sway dramatically. The level of component failure posed a severe safety risk to me. My mechanic was shocked by the amount of failure to these major rear suspension components. I have included photos and receipts for repairs.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR CONTROL ARM ALSO SHOWED EVIDENCE OF A SIMILAR IMMINENT FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDNENT MECHANIC WHERE BOTH CONTROL ARMS WERE SCHEDULED TO BE REPLACED. THE PARTS WERE ON ORDER FROM THE MANUFACTURER. LIA INFINITI (860 NEW LOUDON RD, LATHAM, NY 12110, (518) 738-0800) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,500.

I PURCHASED MY 2011 INFINITI QX56IN JANUARY OF 2015 WITH 36,6036 MILES ON IT. I TAKE EXCELLENT CARE OF MY VEHICLE MECHANICALLY AND CLEANLINESS. ON AUGUST 17TH, 2019 MY BACK A FRAME AND OTHER REAR SUSPENSION BROKE DUE TO CORROSION AND THE METAL SPLIT APART. MY UNDER CARRIAGE ALSO LOOKS LIKE AND OLD CAR. MY CAR IS WASHED TWICE A WEEK EVEN IN THE WINTER TO REMOVE THE SALT. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY OF MY WARRANTIES. IT IS GOING TO COST ME $5,200.00 TO MAKE THIS REPAIR. I HAD TWO CHEVY SUBURBANS THAT I PUT 295,000 MILES ON AND SOLD THEM TO FRIENDS AND THEY ARE STILL DRIVING THEM WITH NO ISSUES LIKE THIS. I WILL NEVER BUY A INFINITI AGAIN! OUR 2011 INFINITI QX56 CANNOT BE PROPERLY CONTROLLED AT SPEED WHEN ANY ROUGH PAVEMENT, POT HOLE, BRIDGE CONNECTION JOINTS, OR SIMILAR IS RAN OVER. ON JUNE 1ST 2020 I TOOK MY 2011 INFINITI QX56 TO THE SHOP FOR HAVING THE CODE P0087. THE SHOP TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE PROBLEMS THE VEHICLE IS HAVING ARE RECALLED UNDER VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN. WHEN I CALLED MY LOCAL INFINITI DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME MY VIN # DOESN'T DOESN'T SHOW AS RECALLED. THEY DEALERSHIP PROVIDED ME WITH THE PHONE NUMBER OF INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS. I CALLED INFINITI AFFAIRS AND TOLD THEM ABOUT MY VEHICLE THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE SORRY BUT MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW UP ON THEIR SYSTEM. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT EVERY SINGLE THING THAT I RESEARCHED AND FIND THE WRONG OF THE VEHICLE COMES BACK WITH A VOLUNTARY RECALL. The contact owns a 2011 Infiniti QX56. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle began to shake and inadvertently stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the high-pressure fuel tank replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.

THROUGH MY RESEARCH AND SPEAKING WITH INFINITI MECHANICS THERE HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH TIMING CHAINS AND ASSOCIATE PARTS THAT ARE A HAZARD AND A MAJOR EXPENSE TO 2011-2012 INFINITY QX56 OWNERS. THIS ISSUE WILL LEAVE YOU STRANDED SOMEWHERE!! IT HAPPENS TO MY WIFE AND I THREE TIMES!!! I HAD TO GET IT TOWED ALL THREE TIMES!! THE HAZARD IS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE ENGINE JUST LOSES ALL POWER LEAVING THE HAZARD OF SOMEONE RUNNING IN BACK OF YOU. IF YOU DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AND THIS PROBLEM COMES ABOUT YOUR VEHICLE WILL STALL AN YOU CAN POSSIBLY START ROLLING BACKWARDS. SO FROM MY RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO PEOPLE EITHER RIGHT BEFORE THERE WARRANTY ENDS AT 70,000 MILES OR RIGHT AFTER (LIKE ME) AT 74,000 MILES. I CALLED INFINITI AND THEY REFUSED TO HELP ME IN ANY WAY. THE GUYS AT MY DEALERSHIP SAID ITS A HIT OR MISS WITH THEM HELPING OWNERS OF THE QX56 THAT'S OVER THE WARRANTY. I WAS ALREADY $1500 IN THE WHOLE ON PARTS THEY THOUGHT WERE THE PROBLEM AND NOW THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME AN ESTIMATED $3,000-4,5000 TO DO THE REST OF THE WORK. ITS A FACT THAT INFINITI KNOWS THEY HAVE THIS ISSUE AND REFUSES TO RECALL OR HELP THE OWNERS. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A INFINITI AGAIN!!! AND WILL SPREAD THE WORD AROUND ABOUT THEM!

THE BATTERY CONSTANTLY GOES DEAD IN THE CAR. I BOUGHT A NEW INFINITY BATTERY IN THE CAR THE SAME THING HAPPENED. YOU CAN REPRODUCE THIS PROBLEM BY SITTING IN THE CAR LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR 30 MINUTES. I WAS SITTING IN THE CAR LISTENING RADIO AND THE CAR BATTERY WENT DEAD AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE, THE QX56 IS A 8 CYLINDER CAR. IT DOES NOT CHARGE VERY EASILY. I HAVE TO CARRY A BATTERY CHARGER IN MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO INFINITY AND THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. SINCE IT IS A BIG CAR THE BATTERY DRAIN QUICKLY.

TIMING CHAIN STARTED RATTLING @ 125,000 MILES.. HOWEVER, MY VIN SHOWS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR. CATS WENT BAD, HAD TO BE REPLACED AND NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. YET NO RECALL ON MY CAR. THE BATTERY CONSTANTLY GOES DEAD IN THE CAR. I BOUGHT A NEW INFINITY BATTERY IN THE CAR THE SAME THING HAPPENED. YOU CAN REPRODUCE THIS PROBLEM BY SITTING IN THE CAR LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR 30 MINUTES. I WAS SITTING IN THE CAR LISTENING RADIO AND THE CAR BATTERY WENT DEAD AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE, THE QX56 IS A 8 CYLINDER CAR. IT DOES NOT CHARGE VERY EASILY. I HAVE TO CARRY A BATTERY CHARGER IN MY CAR. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO INFINITY AND THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. SINCE IT IS A BIG CAR THE BATTERY DRAIN QUICKLY.

THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY AND TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 82,000.

FUEL LEVELING SENSOR IS FAULTY IN A LARGE VARIETY OF INFINITI CARS, BUT THERE IS NOT RECALL FOR MY VIN. THE CAR'S FUEL GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN ALL THE TIME AND TELLS ME I'M ON EMPTY WHEN I'M NOT AND NEVER REGISTERS FULL EVEN WHEN IT WAS JUST FILLED UP. IT CAN JUMP FROM READING 330 MILES LEFT TO EMPTY DOWN TO 299 AND BACK UP TO 330 IN JUST A FEW SECONDS. THE DIAGNOSTIC CONFIRMED A PROBLEM, BUT THEY WANT OVER $1,000 TO FIX A KNOWN PROBLEM IN MANY OF THEIR MAKES AND MODELS. THIS DOESN'T EVEN TOUCH ON THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THAT IS FAULTY AS WELL. LUCKILY, THERE IS A RECALL FOR THAT ONE. HOW IS THE CONSUMER PROTECTED AGAINST THIS TYPE OF FAULTY PARTS? IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO? WE HAVE BEEN TOLD WE NEED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP.

I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A REPUTABLE INFINITY DEALERSHIP ON JANUARY 31,2013 WITH 41,669 MILES,AND I ALSO PURCHASED THE EXTENDED ELITE PROTECTION PROGRAM WARRANTY FOR 5 YEARS FOR $4,978.00.ON MAY 5TH, 2015, I BROUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN FOR A STATE INSPECTION STICKER, WHICH WAS REJECTED BECAUSE MY REAR TIRES WERE WORN OUT BADLY WITH ONLY 15,725 MILES ON THEM.THESE WERE TOP-OF -THE-LINE MICHELIN LTX WITH A WARRANTY OF 70,000 MILES.I BROUGHT THIS SUV INTO THE INFINITY DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND THEY STATED THAT THE REAR CAMBERS WERE CORRODED AND REAR TOWS WERE FROZEN, AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE REAR SUSPENSION. NONE OF THIS WAS COVERED ON MY ELITE PROTECTION WARRANTY.THE AMOUNT OF CORROSION UNDERNEATH THIS VEHICLE IS ASTOUNDING, IT LOOKS WORSE THAN A 20 YEAR-OLD VEHICLE.THE PRICE OF THIS WORK WAS $2,000.00, ADDITIONALLY MY NEW REAR TIRES WERE $592.80.NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM A HIGH-END LUXURY SUV, I PREVIOUSLY OWNED 2 NISSAN PATHFINDERS WITH NO ISSUES. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN MAY, 2010, AND I REALIZE THAT THERE WERE 2 SIMILAR RECALLS # 10E019000,(SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 12, 2010) AND A SECOND RECALL # 10V208000,(SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON MAY 20, 2010) WHICH STATES THAT NISSAN WAS RECALLING 2004-2010 QX 56 VEHICLES DUE TO FAULTY FRONT AND/OR REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS IN THE VEHICLE'S SUSPENSION SYSTEMS.(VEHICLES SOLD BETWEEN NOVEMBER 25, 2009 AND MAY 14, 2010.) MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN MAY, 2010.I ALSO SAW ON THIS WEBSITE A COMPLAINT FILED ON 11/10/2014, NHTSA ID NUMBER 10653767; CONCERNING THE SUSPENSION OF THEIR 2010 QX 56 VEHICLE. IT IS EXACTLY THE ISSUE I HAD WITH MY QX 56, AND I BELIEVE THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. FIRST TIME THERE WAS NO BULLSEYE, CHIP, OR EXTERNAL DAMAGE, BUT DEALER STILL WOULD NOT COVER IT. SECOND TIME WAS AFTER A MINOR IMPACT WITH FRONT BUMPER.
