The vehicle just went through an inspection with the dealership before being sold to me. The vehicle is stalling when making turns and driving. There are no warning lights, there is a full tank of gas, no warning of it going to happen and it just stalls. The Jeep stalled at an intersection, stalled driving through a parking lot and again today stalled turning from an intersection. It almost caused me to get rear ended in an accident. Luckily they did not but that was scary enough for me to check for recalls and to my surprise there is for my year and type but not my VIN, my vehicle was manufactured April 2012, does not have high miles and should not be having these issues.

When driving the vehicle will hesitate then stall after refueling. Happen after almost every refueling case. Believe it is a stuck rollover valve that is allowing gas to enter vent lines and causing the stall. When accelerating the vehicle suddenly dies and there is a complete loss of all systems. No power steering to help get off the side of the road. Often there are no Check Engine Lights or other warnings. Obviously if your engine suddenly dies when accelerating this can cause major safety concerns. I had this happen 3 times while trying to merge onto an interstate. Thankfully I was in the right lane and able to get off to the shoulder and avoid an accident. Have not had a mechanic verify but it is a very common problem with these vehicles and the manufacturer needs to address this.

I HAVE A 2012 JEEP COMPASS 4 X 4 AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO FUEL THE VEHICLE THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE WILL NOT STAY LOCKED IN TO PUMP FUEL UNTIL FULL. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ROLL OVER VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK WAS STUCK AND THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I READ ABOUT THE SAFETY RECALL NHTSA # M11 AND M14 WHICH STATED THAT 2012 JEEP COMPASS AND PATRIOT PRODUCED BETWEEN 12/17/2011 AND 01/02/2012 HAD DAMAGED ROLL OVER VALVES INSTALLED IN THE TANKS AND WHERE SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. THE COMPLAINT I HAVE IS MY VEHICLE WHICH WAS PRODUCED ON 4/12/2012 HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

WHEN PUTTING FUEL IN THE GAS TANK, THE PUMP WILL KICK OFF AND FUEL WILL SPLASH OUT ON YOU. YOU HAVE TO HOLD THE NOZZLE AND JUST LET THE FUEL TRICKLE IN. IT DOES NOT MATTER THE ANGLE OF NOZZLE OR HOW FAR IN OR OUT IT IS. IT WILL CUI OFF AT ANY TIME USUALLY AT A HALF A GALLON. YOU THEN HAVE TO HOLD IT AND TRICKLE THE GAS IN WHICH DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH FUEL YOU NEED IT CAN TAKE 45 PLUS MINUTES. THE BACK SPLASH WILL GET ON YOUR HAND AND CLOTHES .I HAVE TO WEAR A RUBBER GLOVE,AND HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY SHOES OFF AND PUT IN PLASTIC BAG,AS WELL AS GO CHANGE CLOTHES.THIS IS NOT SAFE NOR IS IT NORMAL AS A LOT OF JEEP OWNERS ARE HAVING SAME PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRANDYWINE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM LOCATED AT (3807 KIRKWOOD HWY, WILMINGTON, DE 19808 (302) 998-2271) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE THEN WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V142000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT LIGHT CAME ON.I HAD BEEN DRIVING ABOUT 45 MINUTES ON HW. THE JEEP STARTED MAKING A LOUD WHINING NOISE AND SLOWED DOWN. IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 45. IT FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STICKING SOME AND HAD A BIT OF A SHAKE. I PULLED IT OVER AND HAD TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC. ONCE HE LOOKED AT IT THE NEXT DAY THERE WERE NO CODES SHOWING AND IT DROVE FINE. I SEE THERE ARE RECALLS ON THIS FOR OTHER JEEPS, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT ONE OF THEM. NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY THIS IS.

THE TRANSMISSION FLUID DIPSTICK BROKE OFF OF MY VEHICLE. IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART OF THE JEEP THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE COMPANY SHOULD REPLACE THESE ENGINE ISSUES WHICH HAS CAUSED AN OPENING INTO MY TRANSMISSION FLUID, WHICH CAN ALLOW UNWANTED DEBRIS/RAINWATER TO ENTER THE TRANSMISSION AND DESTROY IT.

REC'D NOTICE FROM FCA REGARDING RECALL, S61/NHTA16V-688. AFTER CONTACTING FCA, WAS INFORMED THAT PART REQUIRED WOULD BE AVAILABLE BY 1 JUNE 2017. HAVE YET TO HEAR FROM FCA NOR COULD A REP TELL ME WHEN PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE. SITUATION IS SUCH THAT THE AFFECTED VEHICLE CAN NOT BE SOLD OR TRADED AND IS LOOSING VALUE. -The front subframe of the vehicle is rusted out. They never offered a recall only a service advisement(thus not informing owners of the potential issue). My subframe was found to be rusted out in a yearly state inspection but is 2 months past their extended warranty date. Therefore they deny financial responsibility to replace the part. -Driving with a rusted out subframe can cause the vehicle to loose control and crash. -The problem is acknowledged by the dealers but they refuse to issue a recall to alert everyone to the problem, therefore allowing the vehicles to go beyond the extended warranty timeframe then refuse to pay for the repairs. -The vehicle has been inspected by a licensed mechanic and issues have been documented. -There were no warning signs or issues prior to the inspection which found the corroded piece.

MY 2012 JEEP COMPASS HAS A DETERIORATING CATALYTIC CONVERTER PAIRED WITH AN ISSUE WITH THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THE CAR HAS HAD DECREASED GAS MILEAGE, PERFORMANCE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON & CONTINUAL RATTLING NOISES.

MY JEEP HAS START TO PUT OFF THE SMELL OF ROTTEN EGGS. I BELIEVE THAT THE CATALYST CONVERTER HAS SOME KIND OFF ISSUE. THERE ARE FUMES COMING OUT OF MY CAR AND IN MY CAR. I BELIEVE IT IS A RESULT OF A BAD CATALYST CONVERTER. ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AFTER I HAVE CHANGED THE SENSORS. THERE IS NO WAY THE CATALYST SHOULD BE BAD. I READ THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLES CATALYST CONVERTER. THIS HAS BEEN ON GOING FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF AND I HAVE BEEN REPLACING PARTS SPENDING MONEY THAT ARE NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM

I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND ABOUT ONE MONTH INTO THE PURCHASE, THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN STEADY ON AND OFF FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS. WE HAVE BROUGHT IT TO A DEALER, WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE PASS INSPECTIONS, ONCE THE CAR IS RESET THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF. THE CODE THAT HAS CONSISTENTLY COME UP IS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH WE WERE TOLD NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THAT IT'S JUST A GLITCH. NOW, THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF AFTER A RESET AND ARE BEING TOLD THAT WE NEED TO REPLACE THE WHOLE CATALYTIC CONVERTER (WHICH I CAN NOT AFFORD) AND DON'T EVEN KNOW IF IT'S A TRUE ISSUE BEING SINCE THE ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY BEING ON SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE AND NOW WON'T GO OFF AT ALL. I'M WONDERING WHY THIS CAR/VIN HASN'T SHOWED UP ON THE RECALL LIST WITH THE OTHERS WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RECALLS!!!????

We have been receiving a check engine light on our 2012 Jeep Compass for code P0420. Reset the system but subsequently vehicle failed emissions testing. After some research we discovered this model vehicle and several others were supposed to be receiving a recall of the catalytic converters. Please see this article on cars.com dated March 2019 https://www.cars.com/articles/863000-chrysler-dodge-and-jeep-vehicles-recall-alert-1420757576994/ I searched our vin# on your website and it showed no recalls. Is Chrysler Fiat dragging this out or are we going to be able to get this fixed at the dealership ? Please advise - Thanks.

I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT BACK TO BACK DAYS AND MY CAR RPMS WENT TO ZERO AND I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING. ENGINE STALLS WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. HAVE TO HURRY AND PULL OVER BEFORE STEARING LOCKS UP. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE. - The passenger headrest of my 2012 Jeep Compass Limited deployed while the car was in motion on the highway with no reason to deploy. Yes, the component is available for inspection. - This created a distraction to the driver that could have resulted in an accident and also could have injured the passenger. - The dealer mentioned that the issue has happened to other cars, but in my case they could not help me because my car is not under warranty. They told me they could not assist and requested I call Jeep Customer Care. - Jeep Customer Care replied ""We have review the information on your case and sadly found that we are unable to offer any assistance with the head restraint repair." - The vehicle component has not been inspected. - No warning lights, messages or symptoms of the problem

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH DROVE OVER BLACK ICE AND LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO AN EMBANKMENT, ROLLED OVER TWICE AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER EMBANKMENT THAT BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE AIRBAG SENOR LIGHT KEPT POPPING ON AND OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY A WEEK OR TWO. THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED THE FRONT PASSENGER IMPACT SENSOR AND OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE NEEDED REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH AS OF LATE NOR ANY DAMAGE AND HAS BEEN IN PERFECT WORKING ORDER UNTIL THIS INCIDENT OF THE AIRBAG LIGHT.

I HEAR A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM BEHIND THE DASH/GLOVE COMPARTMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE KNOCKING NOISE RANDOMLY STARTS BEFORE I PUT THE KEYS INTO THE IGNITION, WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER I TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. IT IS SOMETIMES BETWEEN 10-15 KNOCKING SOUNDS THEN IT STOPS.

IT IS NOT JUST JEEP WRANGLERS WITH DEFECTIVE TIPMS. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MINE REPLACED TWICE IN THE LAST 18 MONTHS AND 32000 MILES. SINCE I DRIVE MY VEHICLE FOR WORK AS A MAIL CARRIER THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR ME. IT HAS STRANDED ME BOTH TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY HIGHWAY. I HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE BOTH TIMES WITHOUT ANY HAZARD LIGHTS AND PUSH IT OFF THE ROAD. BEYOND THE DANGER INVOLVED IN THESE FAILURES THE FINANCIAL BURDEN OF HAVING TO MISS WORK WHILE THE MANUFACTURER TAKES IT'S SWEET TIME GETTING THE PART TO THE DEALERSHIP IS DEVASTATING. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. I WASN'T ABLE TO USE MY HAZARDS OR ANYTHING. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE VEHICLE COULD BE RESTARTED BUT RAN VERY ROUGH AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WAS ON AS WELL AS CHECK ENGINE. MECHANIC SAID NONE OF THE CODES WERE THE CAUSE, THEY WERE ALL THE EFFECT OF THE POWER LOSS. THE MECHANIC FOUND A LOOSE TERMINAL ON THE OEM BATTERY. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT RECURRED.

WHEN I START MY VEHICLE IT DOES NOT START AND I CAN NOT PULL THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS OF LEAVING THE KEY ALONE THE VEHICLE STARTS ON ITS ON. The rear suspension crossmember and suspension control arm rotted out on my 2012 Jeep Compass. Also, cross member cracked. Two repair shops inspected the damage and told me that I should be very careful driving the vehicle to get it repaired because there wasn't much hold the rear wheel on. They both said that the problem cause cause a catastrophic failure, which would lead to the rear wheel falling off. At highway speeds this might cause a serious accident. Both repair shops also said they have seen a lot of Jeeps with this type of rust damage. The steel used for the components must have been inferior or the factory rust protection on these components was inadequate. There are probably thousands of older jeep models (Compass, Patriot, etc.) driving around in a dangerous condition. The only warning that I got was a slight squeaking noise when I went over bumps. The sound would be fairly normal for an eleven year old vehicle. But, I decided to get under the car and spray some liquid lubricant to try to eliminate the squeak. The crack in the crossmember was up high on the underside of the car and it was difficult to see. Luckily, I noticed that the component was entirely cracked in two pieces. The second repair shop told me that Jeep extended the warranty on the components to 10 years. This was due to the large number of similar issues reported. Although the 10 year period ran out in my case in September 2022, I still plan to contact Jeep to see if they will reimburse me for a portion of the repair. But, I believe that a recall should be issued before some Jeep owner is seriously injured due to this problem. The repair cost is in the thousands of dollars. I have attached a photo showing the crack in the crossmember.

The contact owns a 2012 Jeep Compass. The contact stated upon taking the vehicle to an independent mechanic for inspection prior to a road trip, he was informed that the rear cross members were severely corroded and had holes. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the rear cross members needed to be replaced. The dealer also informed the contact that he had to pay for a diagnostic test and the repair because the VIN was not included in TSB Number: 23-007-17. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the dealer could repair the vehicle under the TSB; however, the dealer declined. The failure mileage was approximately 78,000.

The Front And Rear Cross Members have severe Corrosion. These components are available for inspection upon request. The front cross member has a corrosion hole through an entire section. in addition to severe corrosion through out. The rear cross member had corroded to the point of failure while the vehicle was being operated. This resulted in the drivers’ side lower control arm to break away and rest on the ground. At this point the vehicle was inoperable and was required to be towed to a service station. This occurred at a speed of 25 mph, the car was immediately stopped because of the noise heard. If we had been traveling on a highway, this could have resulted in an accident. There was not warning of this impending failure. The passengers side of the rear cross member where the lower control arm is attached is also severely corroded. The rear cross member has been repaired along with ancillary connected parts. The repair was conducted by a local repair shop.

I GOT INTO MY 2012 JEEP COMPASS ( 4X4 LATITUDE VERSION) AND NOTED A DRIP OF WATER ON THE INSIDE OF MY WINDSHIELD. AT FIRST I THOUGHT MAYBE MY WINDSHIELD WAS LEAKING AND TOOK NOTE OF THE AREA. WELL, I BEGAN TO BACK OUT AND A BUNCH OF WATER CAME DOWN ON ME THROUGH MY INTERIOR LIGHT AND ALONG THE EDGING OF THE CEILING OF THE INTERIOR ALONG THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME TWICE BEFORE, AND THE ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH THE SUNROOF BECAUSE OF A DESIGN FLAW IN THE SUNROOF DRAINS. RESEARCHING THE INTERNET, THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR YEARS WITH JEEP MODELS. A MONTH OR SO AFTER BUYING MY CAR (USED) IT STARTED TO STRUGGLE GOING UP HILL. AS TIME WENT ON THE STRUGGLE UPHILL TURNED INTO STALLING. WITH ALL OF THE ISSUES PUT TOGETHER IT HA BECOME VERY STRESSFUL AND SCARY TO DRIVE. WE TOOK IT INTO THE MECHANIC AND HE DISCOVERED THE SMOOTH TRANSITION TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY AND CAUSES THE CAR TO OVERHEAT. HE SAID IT WAS A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THE TRANSMISSION DROPS. THE FIRST INSTANCE OF THE VEHICLE SLOWING RAPIDLY WHEN LETTING UP ON THE GAS OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR ON A LOCAL PARKWAY. WHILE TRAVELLING WITH THE TRAFFIC, AT ABOUT 67 MPH, THE TRAFFIC AHEAD STARTED TO SLOW. RATHER THAN STEP ON THE BRAKE, I LIFTED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE CAR BEGAN TO QUICKLY DECELERATE. IT HAPPENED SO FAST THAT THE PERSON BEHIND ME ALMOST HIT ME. THEY PROCEDED TO GO AROUND ME AND PULLED ABRUPTLY IN FRONT OF ME AND BRAKED. HE MUST HAVE THOUGHT I DID IT INTENTIONALLY. THIS HAD BEEN HAPPENING AT SLOWER SPEEDS AND THE SERVICE PERSONNEL AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO DRIVE THE CAR MORE MILES AS THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. ONE TECH EVEN SAID THAT THIS IS THE WAY THE CVT WORKS AND I'D HAVE TO GET USED TO IT. A SIMILAR INCIDENT OCCURRED ON THE PARKWAY ABOUT A MONTH LATER. THE BEGINNING OF 2019 I HAD A RECALL FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER EFFICIENCY WHICH I DID GET FIXED AND ABOUT 4 MONTHS LATER (5SEP19) I PURCHASED A NEW THROTTLE BODY SENSOR AND THE LABOR WORK TURNED OUT TO $800. WHY WOULD THIS NOT BE PART OF THE WARRANTY OR RECALL OR IS THIS A CONTINUING ISSUE FOR OTHER JEEPS?

WHILE DRIVING, CARS ENGINE SHUT OFF. I WOULD TRY TO START IT, SOMETIMES IT WOULD START BACK UP AGAIN I WOULD DRIVE IT AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF AND SLOWLY STOP MOVING. CAR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE ENGINE CODE P0335 AND P0339 CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MALFUNCTION/INTERMITTENT. WITHIN THE SAME WEEK OF HAVING IT REPLACED, NOW I'M HAVING ISSUES FILLING THE TANK WITH GAS. GAS PUMP STOPS FILLING EVERY 0.2 GALLONS AND CLICKS. TRIED MOVING THE GAS PUMP IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS BUT STILL WON'T FILL. GAS ENDS UP BUBBLING AND OVERFLOWS EVEN THOUGH THE TANK IS ONLY AT A QUARTER TANK. UPON DOING A TOTAL FILL UP OUR JEEP, IT IS NOW STALLING AND I END UP WITH NO STEERING. THIS DOES IT AT LEAST 4/5 TIMES EACH TIME WE FILL FUEL TANK UP. I’m in Bradley, Illinois, and after the first snowfall, these indicators lit up. The ABS, the ESC, and the 4WD. I thought because of inclement weather, they would go off, but have remained lit for a couple of weeks now. One day, while driving to work, the throttle lagged, and I couldn’t accelerate past 20 mph for over 10 minutes amidst heavy traffic. When this occurred, the ABS light turned off, then suddenly lit up again, and the truck sped up. This has happened several times. I was told all recalls were repaired, so I am wondering if this is a new concern? Please advise. Thank you for your help and time.

DRIVING ON THE TURNPIKE 11/10/2016 AT 530AM NEARING EXT. 6 MY TRUCK SHUT OFF, I MADE IT TO THE CAR SHOP AND THEY STATED IT WAS THE SENSORS. I PROCEEDED TO CALL THE JEEP DEALER AND THEY STATED SENORS ARE NOT COVERED IN ANY WARRANTY AND THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES COVER IT AS WELL. IM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE POINTLESS PURCHASE OF MY WARRANTY, AND THE FACT THAT I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ON THE TURNPIKE. I WASN'T EVEN ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER, IT HAPPENED SO QUICKLY. LUCKILY IT WAS A TURN AND VEHICLES HADN'T REACHED THE SPEED LIMIT YET. The passenger active restraint headrest exploded spontaneously. The vehicle was not in any accident. I happen to notice one morning that the headrest was deployed due to no known issue. Appears this has happened to numerous other people and not sure why this make/model issue has not come under a manufacturers safety recall.

MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS RETURNING HOME FROM WORK ON A BUSY CITY STREET WHEN SHE WAS STARTLED BY A LOUD ABRUPT NOISE. SHE LOOKED OVER AND SAW THE PASSENGER-SIDE ACTIVE HEAD RESTRAINT HEADREST HAD SHOT OUT. QUITE SHAKEN, SHE ARRIVED HOME TO TELL ME SOMETHING HAD HAPPENED IN THE CAR. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE HEADREST, IT WAS CLEAR THAT IT HAD NOT 'DEPLOYED' OR 'TRIGGERED.' THE CLAMPS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO RELEASE THE BAR WHEN DEPLOYING WERE STILL IN PLACE, HOLDING THE BAR. INSTEAD, THE PLASTIC THAT HOLDS THE BAR IN PLACE HAD BROKEN, ALLOWING THE HEADREST TO VIOLENTLY SHOOT OUT. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS IN THAT SEAT AT THE TIME. AND EVEN MORE FORTUNATELY, IT DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING, AS THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who diagnosed a failure with the oxygen sensor and threading with the stream sensor of the catalytic converter. The sensors were replaced; however, the vehicle was taken to another dealer for the catalytic converter replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. I have had problems with a hitch or pause in the acceleration of my 2012 Jeep Compass since at least April of last year. I purchased the vehicle used in January 2021. In and of itself, the hitch would be a minor thing, but I think it's related to other problems I'm having with the vehicle losing acceleration, which has become a real point of concern. This has occurred multiple times when I start accelerating from a stop, such as when I'm at an intersection. The car loses acceleration, the traction control light sometimes will come on, the steering will tighten up like I've lost power steering, and the car will come to a halt and stop idling. Nothing happens when I give it gas after it's stopped in these circumstances. I learned that if I turn the car off and back on, that will serve as a sort of reset, and I regain power and can get back on the road. The car has had active codes for a catalytic converter and a crankshaft position sensor. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor in April of last year (with an OEM sensor) after losing power while merging onto an interstate. That seemed to resolve the loss of acceleration problem, but it recurred starting in December of last year. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor again recently, this time with an aftermarket sensor, as I thought the sensor I put in previously may have been defective, but the problem has started occurring more frequently. Losing power while turning into or crossing intersections is a scary thing, and I've begun to feel I cannot drive the car safely. I've read accounts online of many Jeep Compass owners having problems with losing acceleration, and I've begun to suspect that the problem is not simply related to the parts associated with the active codes. The sad thing is that I just finished paying off the loan I took out for this car, and I have little extra money. I don't know what I'm going to do. Please investigate these vehicles (problem affects various Compass model years).

Crank shaft and cam shaft sensor both Failed on vehicle and had to be replaced. All bearing had to be replaced. Two of which were fixed before 60,000 miles. Hood rusted completely through. Cross members are rusting through.

I have had constant problems already reported with this vehicle. The transmission overheats and dies on me or gets sluggish on the highway traffic. Today it completely died on me. After pulling over giving a minute it started back up. Jeep should be ashamed of themselves. So many ppl are reporting this same issue. They need to recall these cheap poorly made transmisdionscthat they already no are faulty. I OPEN THE COVER, AND FOUND THE TRANSMISSION TUBE HAS BEEN BROKEN SOMETIME! NO ONE HAS TOUGH INSIDE, AND THERE IS NO ACCIDENT IN MY CAR. VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A THUMPING NOISE IN REAR END AND STARTED TO GET WORSE. IT ALSO HAD A HIGH PITCH WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR END. I HAD JUST REPLACED THE REAR BARRING SO I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS THOSE THAT HAD STARTED TO GO BAD WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF REPLACING THEM. I TOOK IT TO GET LOOKED AT AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE WHOLE REAR END WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BEFORE IT SNAPPED IN HALF WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE CRADLE ARMS AND EVERYTHING THAT WAS ATTACHED TO IT WAS RUSTED, PITTED AND CRUMBLING IN HIS HANDS. THE FRAME WAS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH. HE TOLD ME I WAS LUCKY I DIDN'T HIT A POT HOLE BECAUSE THAT IS ABOUT ALL IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN TO BREAK IT. THE HUBS AND BARRINGS WERE ALSO RUINED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER INSTALLING THEM LESS THAN A YEAR AGO.

I PURCHASED THE JEEP FEBUARY 28TH 2013, FROM ORR HONDA TEXARKANA TX. I WAS NOT INFORMED THE VEHICLE HAD ANY PROBLEMS OR RECALLS AT THAT TIME. WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THE SEAT BELTS WOULD SPONTANEOUSLY UNLOCK AND OPEN. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO HAVE AN ACCELERATION PROBLEM IT WAS SLUGGISH AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS NOT CHANGING GEARS. WHEN I WAS STOPPED TO MAKE A TURN AND BEGAN TO TURN THE CAR STALLED ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND QUIT, IT STARTED BACK AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT OF HARMS WAY. IT WILL START UP IMMEDIATELY WITH A BOOST. I HAVE NOT AND WILL NOT DRIVE IT DUE TO THE STALLING AND DYING WHILE DRIVING. I AM A PEDIATRIC HOME NURSE AND I TRANSPORT DISABLED CHILDREN SO NOT ONLY IS MY LIFE IN DANGER WITH THIS VEHICLE SO ARE THE LIVES OF THE DISABLED CHILDREN I CARE FOR DURING MY JOB.
