This vehicle before had the cvt transmission replaced as it was over heating/inoperable. Complete replacement. Flash forward not even a year I was driving and thr transmission made a noise and basically locked up causing the driver to hit curb at high rate of speed along the freeway. The vehicle again is disabled with a transmission defect and requires replacement. 2nd transmission failure and will need replacement and caused injury during collision with curb at high rate of speed without any indication lights of a mechanical issue prior to impact.

The vehicle was taken in for a recall of the catalytic converters and PCM software, July 2019. May 2021, while driving at highway speeds the transmission temperature light illuminated and an un-commanded deceleration occurred to about 10 mph, it would go no faster got to the nearest off ramp and to a rest area sat for an hour, then the vehicle performed normally. May 13, 2021, took the vehicle to the repair facility no trouble codes were set but they replaced the transmission filler tube. A few days later the light illuminated again but no adverse driving conditions occurred. Oct 18, 2021, at highway speeds the vehicle decelerated to 10 mph a service engine light illuminated a transmission overtempt light also and made it home about ten miles at no more than 10mph, 19 Oct 2021 drove the vehicle at a few mph to my local Jeep dealer for check engine and no power. 22 Nov 2021 they had me pay them $3000.00 and they ordered a transmission. 15 Mar 2022 the transmission arrived they installed it and a transmission cooler and new sparkplugs cleared all troubles, I paid another $3,815.62 and got my vehicle back in good working order. No accidents or injuries were incurred by the sudden decelerations due to our safe driving skills.

Jeep first issues was at 89k, not shifting. Second issues was at100k transmission over heated. Dealer/ warranty had me changed the fluid and filter for transmission. Third issue, 130k transmission made a whining noise and stopped. Jeep was towed to the shop. After doing some research, turns out that the transmission on several these Jeep’s have same issue. The transmission should be on manufactured recall.

I PURCHASED THIS JEEP A YEAR AGO VERY LOW MILEAGE. ABOUT 2 WEEKS INTO IT THE JEEP STARTED HEATING UP. LONG STORY SHORT THIS VEHICLE AT ITS 100K MILES NEEDED A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT THAT COST ME OVER 3000.00 WITH SUCH LITTLE MILEAGE I BELIEVE THIS IS A MANUFACTURE ERROR., IVE HEARD SEVERAL OF THESE JEEP COMPASSES NEEDING TRANSMISSIONS UNDER 100K MILES

DANGEROUSLY DROPPING INTO LIMP MODE WITHOUT WARNING OR ABILITY TO OVERRIDE FOR SAFETY. EARLY FULL SYSTEM TRANSMISSION FAILURE WITHOUT NO OPTIONS FOR REPAIR. FINALLY DIED BY MAKING WHINING NOISE, GOING INTO LIMP MODE AND STAYING THERE. THE EXCESSIVE COST OF REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION MAKES IT NOT COST EFFECTIVE. ONLY OPTION IS TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE ALTOGETHER.

Catalytic converter problem Warning engine light keeps coming on. This has happened over several years. It now comes on everyday. It is now in shop to be fixed and code shows front converter is bad which includes the manifold.

PURCHASED 2013 JEEP COMPASS WITH 109,000 MILES. NOTICED IT BURNED OIL BAD. REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, CHANGED OIL TO SYNTHETIC AS RECOMMEND AND FILTER. CONTINUED TO HAVE EXCESSIVE OIL BURN. 3 BOTTLES EVERY 2 WEEKS. WAS DRIVING IT AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND SOMETHING DIDNT FEEL RIGHT., SHE PULLED OVER AS OIL LIGHT CAME ON. NOW OIL WAS CHECKED AND WAS FULL PRIOR TO DRIVING 40 MINUTES, NOW OIL LIGHT ON, CHECKED OIL AND WAS LOW. HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK, HAD IT TOWED TO GARAGE AND ENGINE IS FRIED. AT 111,000 MILES, NEEDS A WHOLE NEW ENGINE. ENGINE IT IS IS A 2.4L . IF MY DAUGHTER DIDNT THINK QUICK TO PULL OFF THE ROAD AND STOP, THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT

DRIVING MY CAR AND THE ENGINE REVVED, THE LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT CAME ONE, AND THE LOST ABILITY TO MOVE AT MORE THAN 5MPH. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES. STARTED IT BACK UP AND IT WAS FINE. GOT IT HOME AND TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY. DEALER ASSURED ME THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT IT WAS AND COULD FIX IT. GOT IT BACK A FEW DAYS LATER AND IT WAS FINE. FAST FORWARD A FEW MONTHS, MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND DID THE SAME THING. SHE MANAGED TO GET OFF THE ROAD, A 4 LANE MAJOR HIGHWAY, SAFELY AND CALL ME. CALLED THE DEALER AND HAD IT TOWED. WAS TOLD THEY CHECKED EVERYTHING OVER AND RESET THE COMPUTER IT SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO. AGAIN, CAR WAS FINE FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND THE WHOLE PROCESS STARTED OVER. AGAIN, THE THIRD TIME, HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY CALLED AND WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE AND COULD SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEIR ADVICE WAS THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED TO LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THEM STILL RUNNING SO THEY COULD SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON.THIS HAD BEEN GOING ON FOR 4 YEARS NOW. REALLY, THAT IS YOUR EXPERT ADVICE. I DO NOT DRIVE IT MUCH ANYMORE AND HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER BECAUSE THIS THING IS A DEATH TRAP. CANT WAIT UNTIL THE DAY I CAN UNLOAD IT, WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER JEEP IN MY LIFE.

FINALLY, MY DAD DECIDED TO JUST CALL CHRYSLER AND THEY SENT US TO THE BIG O WHICH IS IN GREENVILLE SC THE INSTRUCTED US THEY WOULD ORDER THE PARTS AND CALL US WHEN THEY COME IN. IT HAS BEEN ABOUT 7 MONTHS SINCE WE CALLED THEM IN EITHER JUNE OR JULY ABOUT THIS AND SINCE IT IS AIRBAGS AND SEATBELTS WE ARE VERY CONCERNED WITH MY SAFETY IF I WAS TO GET INTO A WRECK.

Attached is a work order request for a defective door handle on my Jeep Compass. The driver side door handle we have determined is wrapped in metal and is delaminating. It has caused a hand injury to my daughter due to the wrapping on the door handle coming apart and being extremely sharp. We have taken the car to our local dealer for inspection and they have verified that this is not normal and we believe the part is defective. Additionally, the passenger side handle is starting to do the same. This is a dangerous defective part and attempts to correspond with Jeep/Stellantis have been completely ignored.

TAKATA RECALL IT IS DEALING WITH THE TRASMISSION TEMPERATURE. DRIVING WITH OR WITHOUT THE AIR CONDITIONING ON AND CRUISE CONTROL FOR A PERIOD OF TIME OF A SPEED OF 70. THE LIGHT COMES ON THE CAR BEGINS TO MAKE A WHINING NOISE AND THE CAR BEGINS TO LOSE SPEED AND POWER. THE TEMPERATURE LIGHT COMES ON AND IT IS NOT OVERHEATING,I HAVE TO PULL OVER CUT VEHICLE OFF. FOR 5 OR MORE MINUTES THEN CONTINUE ON UNTIL IT STARTS OVER AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH OUT THE LIGHT BEING ON AT THE MOMENT I BRING IT THERE, THE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN NO POSSIBLE WAY TO EVEN DRIVE IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PEOPLE TROUBLE SHOOT AND SEEMS LIKE THEY ARE JUST TAKING MY MONEY AND NOT SOLVING THIS ISSUE, IT SEEMS TO BE A FACTORY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED, BEING ON THE HIGHWAY AT A FAST RATE OF SPEED AND LOOSING POWER IS UNSAFE. I HAD MY JEEP IN FOR REGULAR SERVICE & IT WAS DISCOVERED TO HAVE A RUSTED SUBFRAME. IT WAS SUGGESTED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. I MADE THE APPOINTMENT. IT WAS EVALUATED & DETERMINED THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ISSUE WITH PREMATURELY RUSTING. I CONTACTED JEEP CUSTOMER CARE ON TWO OCCASIONS, BUT THEY WILL NOT HELP. THE COST TO REPLACE THE SUBFRAME IS OVER $1,300. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE & IF NOT REPAIRED WILL CONTINUE TO CORRODE & DIMINISH THE HANDLING OF MY JEEP AS WELL AS THE STRUCTURAL SUPPORT.

HELLO, 3/4/2015 MY BROTHER BOUGHT A 2013 JEEP COMPASS ON HIS BIRTHDAY OF THE SAME YEAR. OVER THE LAST FEW (4-6) MONTHS, WE HAVE CUT OUR FINGERS, REPEATEDLY ON THE CHROME COVERING THE DOORS HANDLES. WE ARE NOT TALKING PAPER CUTS NOR ARE WE DESCRIBING EMERGENCY ROOM VISITS, WE ARE DESCRIBING A VERY DEEP AND OPEN SLICE, MOSTLY TO THE NERVES OF OUR FINGER TIPS, CAUSING ME TO MISS WORK. FURTHERMORE, I HAVE A COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEM (HIV) & MY BODIES ABILITY TO REPAIR AND HEAL IS MUCH LONGER THAN OTHERS. MY MOST RECENT INJURY HAS CAUSE DANGEROUS COMPLICATIONS WITH A HIGH FEVER, LEADING TO A VERY STRESSFUL MENTAL AND PHYSICAL WELL BEING. I THOUGHT I WOULD MENTION THIS TO EVERYONE, ONLY BECAUSE I WAS INDEED, IN NEED OF A COMPASSIONATE CSR, INSTEAD I WAS BRUSHED OFF WITH A CASE NUMBER AND A SUGGESTION TO REPAIR THE HANDLES AND ANY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE, WOULD BE REIMBURSED. I'VE MADE ATTEMPT AFTER ATTEMPT AND NO ONE WITH CHRYSLER HAS EVER KEPT THEIR WORD TO CALL ME BACK............ WELL, IT DID NOT TAKE VERY LONG ( THE VERY NEXT DAY), THAT I SLICED ANOTHER FINGER CAUSING ANOTHER TRAUMATIC ATTACK ON MY NERVOUS SYSTEM, MOSTLY BECAUSE PRESCRIBED BLOOD THINNERS AND BLEEDING WOUNDS ARE VERY FRIGHTENING AND NOT EASY TO CONTROL. I RENTED A 2013 JEEP COMPASS FROM ENTERPRISE IN HOUSTON. WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE SHOE ON MY LEFT FOOT SNAGGED ON AN OBSTRUCTION ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE FLOORBOARD. WHILE FREEING MY FOOT, I INADVERTENTLY UNLATCHED THE HOOD. I FAILED TO NOTICE THE HOOD WAS UNLATCHED UNTIL I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE AND TRAVELING 70 MPH AND NOTICED THE HOOD WAS LOOSE. THE SAFETY LATCH KEEP THE HOOD CLOSED UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND EXIT THE FREEWAY. MY INSPECTION OF THE HOOD LATCH RELEASE LEVER SHOWS THAT IT STANDS PROUD OF THE PLASTIC SIDE PANEL BY APPROXIMATELY 3/8". IT IS EASILY SNAGGED BY A SHOE WHILE EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE RELEASE OPERATES BY PULLING IT HORIZONTALLY TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE AND UNLESS YOU HEAR THE HOOD UNLATCH, THERE IS NO WARNING UNTIL YOU ARE DRIVING FAST ENOUGH TO NOTICE THE HOOD BOUNCING. A FAILURE OF THE SAFETY LATCH COULD RESULT IN THE HOOD FLYING OPEN AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD AND POSSIBLY CAUSING A WRECK. *TR

WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT SENSOR FLASHES AND POWER IS LOST TO THE AXLES. THIS HAPPENS FOR AT LEAST TEN SECONDS. THE CAR IS GOING LESS THAN 20 MPH ON DRY ROAD CONDITIONS. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO ISSUE. AFTER I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IT HAPPENED AGAIN.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP 3 MONTHS AGO AND IT HAD 41,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE SINCE DRIVEN AN ADDITIONAL 3,000. THIS MORNING AS I WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE 'ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL' LIGHT CAME ON AND CAUSED MY CAR TO STALL TWICE. THE HIGHEST SPEED I WAS ABLE TO GO WAS 30 MPH. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS I WAS IN MOTION ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR, THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED TO HAVE CHECKED THE CAR ENTIRELY FOR PROBLEMS YET I AM HAVING TO CARRY IT BACK FOR MAINTENANCE. The vehicle was taken in for a recall of the catalytic converters and PCM software, July 2019. May 2021, while driving at highway speeds the transmission temperature light illuminated and an un-commanded deceleration occurred to about 10 mph, it would go no faster got to the nearest off ramp and to a rest area sat for an hour, then the vehicle performed normally. May 13, 2021, took the vehicle to the repair facility no trouble codes were set but they replaced the transmission filler tube. A few days later the light illuminated again but no adverse driving conditions occurred. June 18, 2021, at highway speeds the vehicle decelerated to 10 mph a service engine light illuminated a transmission overtempt light also and made it home about ten miles at no more than 10mph, 19 aug 2022 drove the vehicle at a few mph to my local Jeep dealer for check engine and no power.

While preparing to enter my car today (6/5/2022) I heard a fairly loud popping/exploding sound. I quickly backed away from the car then approached it again and realized the passenger headrest, though attached, had basically split in 2. Upon further inspection I couldn’t see why this had randomly happened as I didn’t have a passenger with me and hadn’t touched it. I tried to force it back together but couldn’t figure out how to get it to move so I left it as is. Later this evening I started searching online for how to fit it back together and it appears this happens frequently especially with jeeps and is a failure of a safety feature called active headrest. I went back out to look at it and saw exactly what I had seen other drivers mention, there’s 2 teeny tiny pieces of black plastic that apparently keep it from deploying and the right one had cracked. Just lucky that no one was sitting there at the time or that it wasn’t the driver headrest while driving - very unsafe, I can’t even believe a “safety feature” is approved when it’s only withheld by a piece of plastic so small you wouldn’t think twice about discarding it if you found it while opening a toy.

I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AT THE SPEED LIMIT (60-65 ON FREEWAY) THE TACHOMETER SOARED TO ABOUT 3500AND THE VEHICLE MADE A NOISE. IT LOST ALL POWER AND I HAD NO CONTROL. I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER MOTORIST TRYING TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY. WHEN I TURNED LEFT OR TRIED TO AT THE TOP OF THE EXIT THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE THAT'S WHEN THE TRANSMISSION TEMP INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. I FINALLY TURNED LEFT AND THE VEHICLE TRAVELED ABOUT 2-5 MPH. I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND LOOKED THE LIGHT UP IN THE OWNERS MANUAL. ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL IF YOU PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND IDLE FOR A BIT THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF. WE DID SO AND THEN DROVE AROUND A BIT SENDING IT STILL WASN'T RIGHT WE THEN WENT TO A SERVICE STATION WHO PUT TRANNY FLUID IN IT. AND WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME. I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS IN 09/11/2015 WITH MY REAR RIGHT CONTROL ARM THE RUBBER BUSHING GAVE OUT AND THE CONTROL ARM WAS SQUEAKING VERY LOUDLY, I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER AND THEY GAVE ME A GOODWILL SERVICE CHARGE OF $100 BUT AFTER I ASKED IF THE CONTROL ARM ON THE LEFT ALSO WENT BAD WOULD THEY ALSO HONOR THE GOODWILL THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE MY PROBLEM. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE REAR CONTROL BUSHING HAS GONE BAD IN FEB OF 2016 NOW I HAVE TO FIX THIS THING. I KNOW THAT IF IT FAILS COMPLETELY I COULD HAVE A CONTROL PROBLEM. WOULD YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. I HAVE CALLED CHRYSLER JEEP AND ALL THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOT A RECALL BUT I KNOW THAT OTHER JEEPS ARE HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. WOULD YOU PLEASE INTERVENE IN THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, THE HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. I BOUGHT THIS JEEP JUNE 25TH 2015. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES, AND I CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DONE TO THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM EVEN BEFORE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THE CAR FAX SHOWS WHERE IT HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP TO HAVE THE STRUTS WERE REPLACED BACK ON APRIL 25, 2014. IT ALSO SHOWS THAT IT HAD TO HAVE TWO TIRES REPLACED ON 6/8/2015. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE CORRECTED. WORK ORDERS FROM 7/18/2015, 8/25/2015 AND 9/3/2015. I CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH IT THAT I DO NOT DRIVE IT. I FEEL IT IS UNSAFE. I FEEL ANY MOMENT I COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HURT MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. THE VEHICLE HAS SWIRLED TWO TIMES ON ME SO BAD THAT IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT THE WALL. IF I HAD NOT STOPPED THE VEHICLE FAST ENOUGH, I WOULD HAVE HIT THE WALL. IF A CAR WOULD HAVE BEEN ON MY RIGHT, I WOULD HAVE HIT IT. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE SERVICE ROAD OF THE HIGHWAY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEAT BELT RETRACTORS WERE FRACTURED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT BUCKLE ASSEMBLY AND THE ANCHORAGE DID NOT HOLD THE BELTS IN PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

EARLY MORNING. GOING N ON I-75, EXITING ON EXIT 22 (GLADES PARKWAY). SLOWING DOWN TO EXIT, MY DAUGHTER PERCEIVED A BURNING ODOR INSIDE THECAR, I TRIED TO KEEP REDUCING THE SPEED BUT THE CAR ACCELERATED BY ITSELF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, THE EXIT CURVE WAS IN FRONT OF US AND THANKS GOD WE CRASHED INTO THE SIDEWALK BORDER, WHERE THE CAR WENT OVER THE GRASS WITH THE FRONT RIGHT WHEEL, SCRATCHED THE UNDERNEATH AND THAT ALLOWED US TO GET OUT OF THE GRASS AND STOP THE CAR. I AM TRULY SCARED OF GETTING INTO THAT CAR AGAIN. AS A MATER OF FACT, JUST THINKING WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED, I DO NOT WANT THAT CAR ANYMORE, SO I WANT TO KNOW WHAT OPTIONS DO I HAVE. ENTERED BANK PARKING TO USE ATM MACHINE, AT THAT TIME WHEN STEPPED ON BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR, IT ACCELERATED LIKE SOMEONE WAS STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL. AT THAT TIME I TRIED TO STOP THE CAR BY SHIFTING INTO ANOTHER GEAR AND ALSO TRIED PULLING KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. AT THAT TIME KNEW I HAD TO GET CAR STOPPED WITHOUT HURTING ANYONE, SO THERE WAS A WOODED AREA BEHIND BANK, I RAN CAR INTO AREA THAT HAD HUGE ROCKS WHICH I RAN OVER AND THEREFORE HIT A TREE HEAD ON TO STOP MY CAR. THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT STILL CHARGE GEARS OR CAR WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY (ANY OF THEM).
