2 YEARS! FOR OVER 12 YEARS MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON..... FOR 2 YEARS THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THIS RECALL FOR THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER. THE POTENTIAL LOSS OF AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER DEPLOYMENT CAPABILITY ... 2 YEARS I I HAVE INQUIRED ABOUT GETTING THIS FIXED, FOR 2 YEARS I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE... YET THEY ARE CHURNING OUT NEW JEEPS EVERY SINGLE DAY... WHY CANT THIS BE REPLACED WITH ONE FROM THE NEW JEEPS? THANKFULLY I HAVEN'T HAD AN ACCIDENT, AND NEEDED THIS AIRBAG, BUT WHAT IF I WOULD? The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle decelerated and, while releasing the brake pedal, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast to a stop, shift into park(P), and restart the vehicle to continue driving. The failure reoccurred and became a persistent failure, and occurred at various speeds or while the vehicle was idling. The check engine warning light was temporarily illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic, and metal shavings were found inside the oil pan, which the engine failure. The engine was replaced; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact learned that the vehicle was previously included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V552000 (Engine) and the vehicle was taken to the dealer and repaired in 2018. The contact called another dealer, Baxter Auto Group (17225 Burt St, Omaha, NE 68118); but the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to a third dealer, Woodhouse Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Bellevue (7713 S 19th Cir, Bellevue, NE 68147); who determined the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the engine was not replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The vehicle was immediately restarted, and the vehicle operated normally. During the failure, there were no warning lights or messages displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not performed. The contact was informed that no diagnostic codes were found related to the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 95,000.

The vehicle just shuts off while in gear and in motion. Very dangerous. Lights come on (engine light, break light…) for a brief second before it randomly shuts off. It seems like the computer goes out, because on re start, the clock reset to 12:00 and there are no check engine lights on. It has happened several times over the past few hundred miles. An Internet search will show similar problems for other Jeep owners with no resolution. Obviously a defect.

Was driving and the vehicle lost all power just as we were turning to cross a road. We would have made it easily if the power was not cut. The car would not accelerate even when the accelerator was pressed all the way down. We were lucky to avoid being hit. Turns out the throttle body failed. I was told this is a very common problem on Chrysler Jeep 2.0 and 2.4 models

Hello, My VIN is [XXX] and I have a 2014 Jeep Compass Latitude. I took my vehicle into the Jeep Dealership on Val Vista and Williamsfield Rd to have my airbag recall serviced. I picked up my vehicle and the airbag light was still on, I didn't think too much about it since it could have not been related to the airbag recall. However, I was later informed by pep boys and another mechanic that the airbag recall was not replaced. I was also informed on the phone by a dealership service man they did not have the part to replace the airbag and it did not get fixed even though they stated on the paperwork and when I picked it up that the airbag recall was serviced and the airbag was functioning properly, I have contacted the attorney general and the dealership regarding this issue and the dealership is claiming im incorrect and they serviced my air bag and asked me to bring the car in to reset the airbag light and see if there is something else going on with the airbag. The airbag recall part that was supposed to be replaced is the original manufactured airbag from 2013. I trusted the dealership on their word that the airbag was working and they let me drive around like that with my family while they cashed the 2500 check and did nothing with the airbag recall replacement. I am concerned about the actions of the dealership for my families safety as well as other families safety when they take their car to this dealership to get their recall's serviced. I would like to fix the problem with my airbag without having to take it to this specific dealership and would like to let others know so we can avoid any injuries or anything serious happening as a result of this dealership not actually fixing their safety recalls. I was sitting in my car talking on the phone, parked in the parking lot and I felt the headrest hit the back of my head. I thought maybe somebody had hit me but nobody was behind me. The person I was on FaceTime with say and heard my head get hit and thought the same thing. Turns out it was the headrest that sprung forward and the small plastic clip that holds it together is broken. It came out of no where while I was parked and now I worry how safe would we be if I got into a collision. Additionally it vibrates now while stopped at a red light.

The headrest of my passenger seat deployed while I was driving on the highway. My twelve year old was sitting in the seat as it happened, and was hit in the head by the front of the headrest. There has been no formal inspection about it yet, but I witnessed it first-hand. There were no warning signals, lamps, or warnings associated with the incident and it happened very suddenly.

The drivers side headrest active restraint deployed, there was no accident or hit to it. Upon inspection there was broken plastic peices found and the head rest could not be reset. I saw on some sites that this was a known issue and the warranty was extended 10 years from 2022.

Headrest deployed, it can be inspected upon request. Headrest eployed after just closing the door, it impacted hard against the back of my head while parked, had this happened while driving it would've caused a serious accident. After getting home safely I did a quick resesrch of this issue with several reports from other car owners, plan on going to the dealer tomorrow to report the issue with them. Since it just happened I will report it to the dealer tomorrow but will keep a record for insurance report. No, there was no signs or alarms when the system failed, just with a visual inspection you can see broken plastic where it was supposed to be connected.

While driving on the road my passenger side headrest deployed. I was not braking just driving at a cruising speed. I have a picture of the headrest deployed. The sound of this unit activating distracted me from my driving and the sound was quite loud and very unexpected. I have not brought it to the dealer as I see this is not an active recall for my vehicle for this malfunction, but I am afraid if this happens with the driver headrest it may cause injury and a accident. There were no warning lights prior to the unit deploying and this was the first time this occurred.

When driving, multiple times, the car has randomly lost all power leaving me unable to accelerate even use the horn or hazard lights to let other drivers know. Sometimes it restarts after putting it into park, removing the key, and then restarting it, but now it does not restart even after long periods of waiting. Sometimes it has also done this while driving but turned itself back on before the vehicle comes to a complete stop.

While driving on the freeway the AHR headrest deployed causing my head to be pushed forward. There was not an accident and the road was smooth. There was no reason for the headrest to deploy.

The activated headrest on the passenger side popped out randomly. The headrest is supposed to come out during a collision only. Researching this issue I have found that this is a common problem. This is obviously a safety problem as the spontaneous release could cause neck injuries, or in the case of an accident it may not work as intended. There was no warning of this in advance. The car is available for inspection, but I am now concerned for anyone riding in the passenger seat. I believe the same mechanism is on the drivers side also, so this may be an issue for that side also.

My car has a recall. I take my car to the dealership to fix the problem. But still the same problem from the same recall 2 or 3 times already. My car has been taking care in the dealership with not cost . But my big concern is why the same problem for the recall is coming back over and over. I also lost time when I take my car to the dealership even a full week. With no transportation and also always worry to go back again with the same issue . Is anyone can help me with this problem. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the warning message "Automatic Transmission overheating " appeared on the instrument panel and the vehicle began to stall. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle for a short period. The contact stated as she restarted the vehicle, she was able to drive to her destination. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the automatic transmission system was overheating, and the thermostat needed to be replaced. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who informed the contact that they could not provide further assistance and advised the contact to turn off the vehicle whenever the failure reoccurred so the vehicle could cool off. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I HAVE A 2014 JEEP COMPASS SPORT 2.0. I PURCHASES IT IN 2016 USED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AMONG HEAVY TRAFFIC AND MY VEHICLE JUST STOP IMMEDIATELY. THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. NOW, THE SHOP IS SAYING I NEED A CVT TRANSMISSION BECAUSE MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. A TRANSMISSION SHOULD LAST MORE THAT 6 YEARS AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY SAFETY ON THE INTERSTATE. 2014 JEEP COMPASS SPORT WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT IN 2017, UNDER WARRANTY BY THE DEALER DUE TO MAKING A LOT OF NOISE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. AS OF 8/24/19, THE SAME PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. VEHICLE NOW HAS 122,896 MILES ON IT. JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE STATES THAT EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT IN 2017, THAT THIS DID NOT EXTEND WARRANTY AND I MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR UNLESS JEEP DECIDES TO GIVE GOOD WILL SERVICE. I HAVE DRIVEN ONLY MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLES SINCE I WAS 14 YEARS OLD, NOW 71, AND HAVE NEVER HAD A TRANSMISSION FAIL, CLUTCHES HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON VEHICLES IN THE PAST AT AROUND 150,000 MILES, BUT NEVER A TRANSMISSION. My car stalls while driving often. I’ve also experienced my car shutting off while driving a few times. It sometimes shows a red lightning bolt. I am very scared for my life and the lives of other drivers while I drive this vehicle because I never know if or when my car will stall in the middle of me driving at speeds above 50 miles per hour. The car will usually stall for about 10-15seconds and then power back on, but sometimes the car just shuts off and slows down so I have to pull over because it wont accelerate since the car just shut off. After pulling over, I wait bout 10 minutes and turn the car on and it’s fine. I took it to a mechanic multiple times and they can’t find the issue. They said they can only see what I’m talking about if the dash shows the check engine light but my check engine light is not on. This vehicle is not safe and I’m so afraid of the car shutting off mid driving. This started 2 years ago but the shut offs and stalls have been more frequent this year. Mechanics kept telling me it was probably spark plugs and we’ve changed those and the coils more than 6 times.

THE ENGINE STALLED AND CUT OFF WHILE I WAS SLOWING DOWN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY DEAD, I COULD NOT TURN ON WARNING LIGHTS AND CARS WERE RUNNING FAST BEHIND ME. AFTER 2 MINUTES OF TURNING THE IGNITION TO TRY TO START THE CAR, THE DASH LIGHTS WENT BACK ON AND THE ENGINE STARTED AGAIN. THE CAR ALSO CUT OFF WHEN I WAS SLOWING DOWN IN TRAFFIC BEHIND OTHER CARS.

I SEE AN EXISTING RECALL THAT MATCHES ALL THE ISSUES MY CAR HAS BEEN HAVING AND YET MY CAR IS NOT ON THE RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO TEST THAT THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE ALL THE CARS THAT IT SHOULD HAVE. (NOT THE AIRBAG RECALL) MY CAR HAS STALLED A COUPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING SLOWLY AND I NOTICE A STRANGE SHIFT ISSUE IN MY CAR. WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TIMING BELT FELT DIFFERENT THAN THE OTHER CARS I HAD DRIVEN AND THAT IT WAS MORE UP TO DATE. I BELIEVE THAT MY CAR HAD AN ISSUE FROM THE BEGINNING.

My 2014 Jeep Compass is making vibrating noises, swerving moments and cracking sounds. Brought it to my mechanic, he found that the REAR SUBFRAME is rotted out. The FRONT SUBFRAME is also strating to pivot. Reading up on this issue it seems to be very common yet Chrysler has not made a recall for the safety of the passengers and driver and I was told by Chrysler that the extended warranty was only for models up until 2007 and that's it only for the original owner. I would like to report this issue as it is a serious problem.

THIS CAR I BOUGHT ON 9-/14/2019 HAD AN OPEN RECALL ON IT FOR A CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS COMPLETED. I NOW FIND OUT IT IS NOT AND THE CAR WILL NOT HO OVER 20MPH. I HAVE AN APPT WITH THE DEALER WHO IS OVER 30 MILES VIA INTERSTATE AND IT HAS TO BE TOWED I DONT HAVE TOW INSURANCE AND IT WILL COST OVER200 TO GET IT THERE WILL I BE REIMBURSED.

IT APPEARS AS THOUGHT THIS VEHICLE HAS CONTINUOUS ISSUES RELATED TO THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM.. THROTTLE.. ETC. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE LOSS OF POWER.. SLUGGISH THROTTLE AND RANDOM TIMES, SMELL OF FUEL OR EXHAUST AND JERKING MOTIONS WHEN PRESSING THE GAS. AFTER FUELING UP THE JEEP AND DRIVING AWAY, THE CAR STARTS JERKING AND ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED AFTER TRYING DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS SO I DOUBT IT IS THE FUEL ITSELF. BOTH TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED IT DIDN'T DO THE JERKING/STALLING AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND LETTING IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS.

IT TAKES 20 MINUTES TO PUT A FEW GALLONS OF GAS IN. THE GAS PUMP KEEPS SHUTTING OFF. I TOOK IT TO BE REPAIRED, AND THE ENTIRE GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT CANNOT BE SERVICED. MILEAGE APPROX. 40,000. DEALER SAYS THERE HAVE BEEN 2 UPDATES/REDESIGNS OF THE GAS TANK DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT CHRYSLER WILL NOT PROVIDE REPAIR ASSIST BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON 11/15/2019, PRIOR TO THAT WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE ON THERE WAS A BAD FUEL ODOR COMING FROM THE ENGINE. SUDDENLY TODAY THE ENGINE WAS VERY QUIET TO THE POINT OF NOT KNOWING IT WAS ON. AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AUTOZONE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC SCAN. THE CODE THAT CAME UP WAS CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I SEE THERE IS A RECALL ON CHRYSLER CARS AND I WOULD LIKE MY CAR TO BE FIXED DUE TO THIS MANUFACTURER ERROR IN PRODUCING A EFFICIENT VEHICLE FOR SAFETY AND EMISSIONS.

I was slowing to make a left turn and the engine began to sound like it was accelerating. A lightning bolt light, skid warning light and check engine light all came on. I needed to get it home, but the car wouldn’t go above 25mph. Googling says that it has a stuck throttle body. Have not attempted to fix yet.

The first time the situation occurred we were out of town. Warning lights appeared. The car had sluggish acceleration, noisy, rough ride, hesitating, jerking type movements . We thought it was going to stop. The message appeared "Do not drive the vehicle." My husband took the Jeep to the dealer and they were supposed to have fixed it. He was told it was the throttle. We drove the Jeep and the problem stopped for a while. It occurred again on May 25, 2023 and we had to turn around and go back home and park the vehicle and we have not been able to drive it. I found the following information; 2014 Jeep Compass Among Chrysler Vehicles Recalled for Stall Risk. We have never received a letter about a recall. Warning lights came across the board.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The headrest in the passenger seat deployed without a car accident. Just randomly when the car was parked. Jeep dealership wants to charge me 140 dollars to inspect this and the air bags. Supposedly both have recalls but they have “expired”. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It hit my husband in the head while he was sitting passenger. Now no one can sit comfortably in that seat and I’m scared the air bags are going to also deploy while I’m driving the car which could injure me and my kids in the process. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No they are trying to charge me to look and told me it would be over 800 dollars to fix, which I do not have right now. The headrest is VERY obviously deployed. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? While driving home from work one day I heard a loud sound like a gun. The headrest to the passenger seat just deployed on its own. Took it to my mechanic to be corrected and he said it couldn't be reset the clip or a pin must have broke. Then on Wednesday July 28th I got a warning light on my dashboard pertaining to airbags. Puts fear in me because I need to know that my airbags are there for me if needed. C&H AUTO CARE is aware of the problems with my vehicle. They are located in Joppa Maryland.

My safety and the safety of others is at risk due to the primary control module of the ABS system malfunctioning. The ABS indicator light was on prior to seeking support from an independent service center. The service center's report is below: "ABS Module Internal Malfunction: Suring diagnostic the tech found the computer system recognized an issue with the ABS system. Tech tested the ABS module as well as all connecting parts and found that there is currently a failure within the Primary Control Module."

I was driving at a normal speed and out of no where my head rest popped out so hard. It hit the back of my head and I almost got into an accident. It scared the living daylight out of me. I thought someone hit me from behind or that I got into an accident. There was no warning for this at all. I am very scared to drive my vehicle now. WHILE GETTING OFF OF PM SHIFT, AROUND 2330, I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN ONLY 3 MILES INTO DRIVING. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 15 MILES AN HOUR IN A 40MPH ZONE. THE LIGHTNING BOLT FOR ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WAS FLASHING, THEN STOPPED, THEN MY CHECK ENGINE AND MY ANTI SKID(?) WAS LIT UP. I PULLED OVER TO A SIDE STREET, PUT IN PARK ONLY TO HAVE MY ENGINE IDLE AT 2K RPM. THANK GOODNESS I HAD MY PHONE AND A FRIEND WITH SOME CAR KNOWLEDGE. TOLD ME TO LEAVE IN PARK AND RESTART MY CAR. Thermostat keeps going to hot or stops working and drops to cold. Replaced thermostat coolant sensor since that’s what the code popped up. Didn’t work it continues to out. Radiator cap is collecting engine oil and not coolant. Engine oil is getting into my radiator hose. I had just got my radiator and stuff replaced by the dealership. I only had it for 6 months and been putting a lot of money in it and I’m still having engine and thermostat and radiator problems. Also it keeps smoking when it already has coolant in it.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD DOING 40 WITH 2 OF MY CHILDREN WHEN I LOST ALL POWER CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE IN 90 DEGREE WEATHER. JUST THIS WEEK I TOOK TO GET ITS FIRST INSPECTION SINCE PURCHASING AND IT FAILED FOR EMISSIONS. I WAS TOLD BY INSPECTOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAD BEEN FAILING FOR FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE AND TO CONTACT DEALERSHIP. I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THIS IS THE FIRST THEY'RE HEARING OF THIS ISSUE AND I WASN'T ABLE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT UNTIL NEXT WEEK AND SAID THAT THERE MAY BE A CHARGE FOR ME TO FIX???? I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR HUB BEARINGS. I CALLED THE JEEP MANUFACTURER WHO WAS ABSOLUTELY USELESS AS WELL AND SAID CERTAIN THINGS ARE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THIS MAY BE ONE THAT ISN'T. I owned a 2014 Jeep Compass with 63,xxx miles on it. I bought the vehicle brand new. On (3) occasions so far, the engine stalled out immediately after filling the gas tank. It will restart and sputter for 10-15 seconds and then run just fine. On the latest incident, after leaving a gas station after filling up the gas tank, I went to pull out into heavy, busy traffic, the engine stalled out once again. Placing me in a very dangerous situation! Obviously! My research on Jeep forums and other car maintenance websites shows the problem is very likely caused by a bad/defective Rollover Valve. The rollover valve is located inside the gas tank. Apparently, the valve gets triggered off while refilling the gas tank when near full. Noted that the Check Engine Light did not common on. During my research on Jeep Forums and other related Jeep websites, I've noticed the engine stalling issue on many other Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriots.

While driving, car completely shuts off. All lights and signals will blink for a quick second, then shuts off. Keyhole will not turn to turn car on, no clicking sound that car is attempting to turn on, unable to turn on emergency lights, can't move to neutral or turn steering wheel, everything locks. Happened twice in the middle of the street. After a few mins (20 mins or more) car turns on again for a few mins before turning off again. Full gas, battery and transmission checked and still working. Vehicle was up to date with oil changes and recalls.

THERE WAS A RECALL IN DEC. 2013 FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM, HOWEVER, CHRYSLER CORP SAYS THAT MY VIN DOES NOT FIT INTO VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED. IT SHOULD BE IF MY 2014 JEEP COMPASS IS HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC BOTH ON THE FREEWAY AND IN THE STREETS. THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD GO ON INTERMITTENDLY FOR THE ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND 4WD. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WILL PAUSE A FEW SECONDS, WARNING LIGHTS WILL GO ON, AND VEHICLE WILL PROCEED FORWARD. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT INSTANCE WAS WHEN I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO AN INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS, SPEED REDUCED TO 2MPH, WARNING LIGTS FOR ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND 4WD WENT ON, AND VEHICLE PROCEEDED FORWARD. I HAD VEHICLE SERVICED THREE TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS CONNECTED TO THE COMPUTER TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS, NOTHING IS INDICATED. MY OIL PRESSURE AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEPT TURNING OFF AND ON. I CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN REGARDS TO THE ISSUE, AND THEY ADVISED ME IT WAS NOT DANGEROUS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED SO I ATTEMPTED TO TRANSPORT MY VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC, AND AS I WAS TRANSPORTING THE VEHICLE I HEARD A LOUD "POP!" FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PULL SAFELY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FROM THREE LANES OVER. THE DASH BOARD PROCEEDED TO LIGHT UP AND A STRANGE SMELL BEGAN TO COME THROUGH THE VEHICLE. MY ASSOCIATE AND I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO CHECK UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. WE QUICKLY GRABBED OUR BELONGS AND MOVED A SAFE DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITHIN 15 MINUTES AND REMAINED ON FIRE UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH IT. I HAVE OWNED THIS JEEP COMPASS SINCE JULY 2014 IN THE TIME I HAVE OWNED IT , IT HAS LOST POWER AND STOPPED FUNCTIONING AS I WAS DRIVING BETWEEEN 55 AND 65 MILES/ HOUR 4 TIMES ON A VERY BUSY 5 LANE HIGHWAY. 1 OF THOSE TIMES I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED . THE OTHER TIMES AFTER LEAVING IT SIT FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES, IT WOULD RESTART.THE TIME IT WAS TOWED, THE ONLY THING THEY COULD FIND IS THE BATTERY WAS LOW SO THEY REPLACED IT. ANOTHER TIME AT 33,000 MILES, THEY FOUND THE TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING SO THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION. LAST MONTH , IT DIED AGAIN IN THE SAME BUSY HIGHWAY AND WE WERE ALMOST HIT BY AN 18 WHEEL TRUCK WHILE TRYING TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD. WHILE LOOKING AT VEHICLES ON THE DEALER LOT I NOTICED THIS VEHICLE HAD THE POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE IN CONTACT TO THE DASH PANEL STEEL UPPER CROSS MEMBER. SINCE THE PRESSURE HOSE MOVES WITH THE ENGINE IT CAN WEAR A HOLE IN THE HOSE AND THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE STEERING ASSIST AND SPRAY FLUID ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WHICH WAS CLOSE BY. THIS WAS AN ISSUE I DISCOVERED IN AUGUST OF 2014 WHILE WORKING AT FCA AND I TOLD THE COMPANY THIS ISSUE WAS A DESIGN SAFETY VIOLATION OF FCA OUT STANDARDS. I WAS IGNORED. SOME VEHICLES WHICH HAD NOT BEEN SHIPPED YET WERE KNOWINGLY SHIPPED WITH THIS UNACCEPTABLE HOSE CLEARANCE CONDITION.

am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety issue with my 2014 Jeep Compass. While driving, the vehicle feels as though the passenger-side front wheel is going to snap off at any moment. The sensation and noise appear to come from the wheel or axle area, and the instability is strong enough that the vehicle does not feel safe to operate. I have taken the vehicle to multiple mechanics for inspections and test drives. Despite these efforts, no one has been able to locate the source of the problem or identify any faulty components. Although the mechanics report finding nothing wrong, the issue remains and makes the vehicle extremely concerning to drive on public roads. Because the problem affects steering stability and overall safety, I believe this may be a potential defect. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration review this issue, determine whether other drivers have reported similar complaints, and consider whether an investigation or recall may be necessary. The contact's daughter owns a 2014 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that initially, while driving approximately 65 MPH, the rear-end of the vehicle was swaying. Upon inspection, there was severe rust on the rear suspension of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic who diagnosed that there was severe rusting to the rear suspension, with fractures on the passenger's side of the vehicle, with a fractured, detached suspension on the driver's side. The mechanic replaced the rear sub-frame, stabilizer links, and control arm. Approximately one year later, after driving 130,000 additional miles, the daughter informed the contact that oil needed to be added more frequently. The contact was informed that while her daughter was driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and decelerated quickly; and while depressing the accelerator pedal, the engine revved abnormally and coasted before decelerating. The driver was able to make it to the nearest parking lot and turned off the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a Certified Mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with a rear catalytic converter failure; however, replacing the part failed to fix the vehicle. The mechanic advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and was diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter and Oxygen sensors had failed; however, the vehicle was not repaired. Subsequently, a different mechanic replaced the front catalytic converter and performed an oil change. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving, a ticking noise was present coming from the engine, and the vehicle suddenly stalled. Moments later, smoke and flames were present coming from the engine compartment. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the fire. The cause of the fire was an engine failure. A fire report was filed at the scene. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who replaced the engine with a used engine, but shortly after retrieving the vehicle, the engine failed and the vehicle stalled. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the failures. The failure mileage was 119,000.

The 2014 Jeep Compass was in a parking lot and the driver side head restraint opened up as though there was an accident, but there was no accident and no warning system, message, or other symptoms. There is broken plastic inside the headrest, so it cannot be reassembled. It is a safety issue because the part cannot be put into the original configuration that was intended by Jeep, so the current safety of my neck while in this car is unknown. Police and insurance were not involved because there was no accident. Dealer claims that (a) Jeep will not pay for a replacement despite the existence of multiple TSB's, and (b) there is a federal law preventing replacement parts from being manufactured on hand, so they must be ordered for every occurrence of a complaint, meaning I have been waiting for months to get this replaced - while in an uncertain state of safety. I am concerned that I will approach a statute of limitations on my complaint and not be able to get it fixed at all.

The car broke down the very first day I got it! The alternator had to be changed I took it back to Auto connection where I got it from and they replaced it. Since then the car has been breaking down, I have had to pay for out of pocket for a new thermostat, another alternator, hoses, fuel pump, and I have only had the car a yr. Now it’s making a loud hissing noise after I just paid for brand new spark plugs and it’s not accelerating and ver 40/45 mph! Which is costing me more money to pay for a uber to work and everywhere I need to go while still making car payments! My insurance doesn’t handle these repairs. I need immediate help please!

1.Electrical: the touch screen, which is used for the radio & backup camera, is completely shot. One day in May, I was driving my car & the screen went from working to a fuzzy image & then to it going completely black. The radio stopped working as well. The lights around the screen (connected to the buttons) work but tend to flicker every now & then. This is a safety risk for myself & my family because I don’t have the extra support & awareness to backup with confidence or warnings. It hasn’t been looked at by anyone & there were no warnings prior to failure. It has been a consistent failure since then. 2. Engine: Jeep keeps overheating. Has been since April. It was inspected by a mechanic & also paid to have it “fixed” however the problem persists. It is a safety issue because my car could overheat & stop working & cause issues with other drivers. I also have a 5 yo & we have to drive around with the windows down & heat on no matter the weather. Sometimes we get home & her face is bright red. Sometimes the warning light comes on & the fluid is at the appropriate level. 3. Tire pressure in at least one of my tires is always low. I receive a warning light almost every time I drive. These are brand new tires. After I fill up the tire, it is only “fixed” approx 1 day before the light comes back on. It was checked by mechanic & he stated there were no issues he could find. This has been ongoing since December 2021. This is a safety issue because I could get a flat tire & crash into other vehicles or cause an accident. Jeep is available for inspection upon request for all issues.

I took my car to be inspected for yearly registration. I was told by the repair shop that I have parts of the subframe and suspension that are excessively rusted, to the point where they are a safety concern and have to be replaced. Other model years of the first generation Jeep Compass have been issued extended warranties on those parts, and I believe it should be extended to the entire first generation of the Jeep Compass.

driving vehicle and a torrential down pour of water came out of the front interior light which is located at the windshield . The water fell onto the entire entire of the car onto me driving and almost caused an accident as I was shocked and surprised. I have a sunroof in this vehicle and in researching it find that prior lawsuits have been filed and won. Jeep is aware of this and does not inform the buyers instead ignores it. I researched and saw that the drainage tubes were too small and tend to clog up and Jeep does not inform the customer of this. When researching further this has happened over and over and no recall has ever been started. I could have died or severely injured other, Brought it to Jeeps attention and they stated we do not start recall that is up to the US government(arrogance of a supervisor) They refused to tell me who to report this to and told me to do the research myself If line is recorded it occurred11/03/2021 at app 3:10 . I paid. approximately 920.00 for the repairs where the Jeep shop left 7 inches of water on my carpeting and drivers seat. Corporate stated my problem and to deal with Jeep repair shop If prior lawsuits were won on this every one is aware of this why is a recall not done to help the consumer and Jeep made to notify their customers to have maintenance done on drain tubes. I WOKE UP ONE MORNING TO SEE THAT MY FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT SO I AIRED IT UP AT THE HOUSE AND PROCEEDED TO CHECK FOR LEAKS WITH THE OL SOAPY H2O AND FOUND A SMALL LEAK ON THE INSIDE WALL OF THE TIRE, I CHECKED TO SEE ABOUT REPLACING IT AND AFTER I FINISHED HYPERVENTILATING AT THE PRICE, WHICH BTW WAS MORE THAN MY CAR NOTE, I PUT FIX A FLAT IN IT TO TEMPORARILY FIX THE ISSUE SO THAT I COULD SAVE UP TO REPLACE 1 SINGLE TIRE INSTEAD OF SELLING MY KIDNEY ON THE DARK WEB. WELP AS SOON AS I GOT THAT DONE THE BACK TIRE DECIDED TO BE A JERK AND KEEP DEFLATING EVERYDAY. GOT THE SOAPY H2O AND FOUND NOTHING JUST LIKES TO GO FLAT. I STARTED LOOKING AT THE TIRES SO THAT I COULD SEE HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE ME TO SELL A KIDNEY IN ORDER TO REPLACE 2 TIRES NOW AND I NOTICED THAT ALL 4 TIRES HAVE MULTIPLE BUBBLES ON THE OUTSIDE SIDE WALLS. TOOK EACH TIRE OFF CHECKING FOR SEPARATION OF BELTS AND YEP IT'S NOT ROCKET APPLIANCE, ALL 4 TIRES ARE BUBBLING. YET I'M SURE JUST BY SEEING THE MANUFACTURER'S REPLIES( THERE AREN'T ANY) AND THE FACT THAT I ALWAYS GET THE POOP END OF THE STICK THAT I WILL BE SELLING MY KIDS KIDNEY'S TOO JUST TO BUY 4 NEW TIRES.

THE HEAT SHIELD THAT PROTECTS AND SEPARATES THE GAS TANK FROM MUFFLER PREVENTING THE HEAT FROM THE MUFFLER TO OVERHEAT THE GAS TANK HAS FALLEN FROM THE BRACKETS THAT HOLDS THIS SAFETY / HEAT SHIELD IN PLACE. THIS HEAT SHIELD IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PREVENTING ANY HEAT TO DAMAGE THE GAS TANK DIRECTLY ABOVE. THE ABS BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON AS WELL AS THE SKID WARNING LIGHT WHEN I STARTED THE CAR. MY JEEP IS CURRENTLY BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SECOND TIME BECAUSE THE ESC TURNS OFF/ON OWN ITS OWN. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, THE ABS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A FAULTY SENSOR AND REPLACED IT. NOW A FEW MONTHS LATER IT IS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN, AND NOW THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON WHEN I USE THE LEFT/RIGHT TURN SIGNALS, TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON, AND SOMETIMES JUST DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER STATED TO MY HUSBAND THAT ITS NOT SAFE FOR THE VEHICLE DO THIS. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT DISPLAY AN ERROR CODE, AND THEY CANNOT RECREATE THESE ISSUES. VEHICLE ALSO MAKES A GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING AND THE STEERING FEELS VERY VAGUE AND BOUNCY. THESE ISSUES HAPPEN RANDOMLY DURING BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. MY JEEP IS A 2014 COMPASS, FWD, 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A WEEK THIS TIME. THE ESC ISSUE IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS WELL AS, THE WIPERS. IT SEEMS TO BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND MAKES ME WONDER IF THE AIRBAGS, ABS, CRUISE CONTROL, ETC. ARE AT RISK OF FAILURE TO OPERATE PROPERLY.

I WAS DRIVING ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. IT WAS SNOWING ICE. I HAVE LIVED IN COLORADO MY WHOLE LIFE AND BEEN DRIVING IN THE SNOW SINCE I WAS 16. MY CAR WAS BRAND NEW WHEN I HAD RECEIVED IT AND THERE WAS NO WEAR AND TEAR ON THE CAR. IT HAD TAKEN ME ABOUT TWICE AS LONG TO DRIVE HOME BECAUSE I HAD BEEN DRIVING SO SLOW. ONCE I HAD ENTERED MY NEIGHBORHOOD, I TOOK A TURN, THEN ANOTHER IMMEDIATE TURN GOING ABOUT 3 MILES PER HOUR DUE TO ROAD CONDITIONS. MY TURN WAS SLOW AND WIDE AND I HIT A PATCH OF BLACK ICE AND BEGAN TO GLIDE TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROAD, ABOUT 15 FEET BUMPING INTO THE CURB. MY ENTIRE FRONT DRIVER-SIDE AXEL HAD COMPLETELY SNAPPED AND MY REAR AXEL HAD BENT. BOTH TIRES WERE COMPLETELY INTACT AND THE WHEELS WERE NOT EFFECTED AS WELL. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE HAD BASICALLY BEEN COMPLETE SNAPPED AND TORN OUT OF THE SOCKET. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS EQUIPMENT TO COLLAPSE AND FAIL AT SUCH A LOW SPEED IMPACT. I HAD ALSO BEEN DENIED AND INSPECTION FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAD BOUGHT IT FROM AND HAD IT TOWED TO. THEY HAD ALSO NEGLECTED TO REPORT IT TO THE MANUFACTURER UPON OUR REQUEST, LEAVING ME TO REPORT IT FOR THEM. THE DEALERSHIP THEN THREATENED TO MOVE THE CAR AFTER THE JEEP CORPORATION ORDERED THEM NOT TO. VEHICLE PURCHASED FROM LARRY H. MILLER CAR SALES, ON FEBRUARY 2ND,2014. A NEW JEEP COMPASS 2014. THE THIRD DAY AFTER PURCHASE I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO REPORT PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. 1: A LOUD NOISE IN THE REAR BRAKES. 2: REAR WINDOWS IN THE VEHICLE WENT DOWN BY THEMSELVES WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. 3: FRONT PASSENGER DOOR COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED WITH THE KEY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN THREE TIMES FOR THESE REPAIRS. THE ONLY THING THAT WAS REPAIRED WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK. THE WINDOWS GOING DOWN WERE NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT, THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE LOUD NOISE IN THE REAR BRAKES WAS CHECKED BY THE TECHNICIANS, THREE TIMES AND THEIR ANSWER FOR THE PROBLEM WAS THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES AND THAT WAS JUST A CHARACTERISTIC OF THAT MODEL (JEEP COMPASS). I ASKED TO BE PUT IN A DIFFERENT VEHICLE, BECAUSE I AM AND WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE SERVICE I RECEIVED AND IN THE VEHICLE THAT WAS SOLD TO ME.
