My car cuts off while driving, I took it to the dealership December 5th, 2024 and they said there’s a recall for the catalytic converter which makes my engine stall! In November 2024 while I was driving, it cut off while I was turning and traffic was heading my way! My wheel started to locked so I had to pressed on my brakes to control the wheel. I made an appointment to the dealership where I financed the car, but they told me they don’t have the part because it is back ordered, but by law since my car is a safety hazard for me and others. I should’ve received a loaner or a new car!

I have a major ground issue, where I lose power and it makes my headlights, cab lights, and my cluster to constantly flicker. There was no warnings or anything, and has been confirmed by a professional auto care center. Another issue is the engine cooling and there is no leaks I have also had it looked over by the same professional auto care center, I also had to replace the throttle body 4 times in less than 6 months. Losing power to the vehicle is definitely a danger to others and myself and my children. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request as long as it doesn't interfere with my work schedule. Also I have had to change the ignition coils 4 times in less than 6 months also completed by the auto care center. Everything listed has been ongoing since I bought the car in 2019.

I’ve had plans with my Transmission. This is its third time. First two times were under 30,000 miles and still under warranty. And were replaced by the dealer . Using my warranty. There was also a motor fire. Brakes and rotors all the way around mind you all under 30,000. Transmission was put in. I am now at 101,500. And transmissions going out so it’s been parked. Sitting in my garage. The warning lamps come on, which is a parentheses with a lightning bolt in the middle(️) Last time I did the repairs through Ramona Tires and I paid for out-of-pocket using my credit This time I was told a new transmission for the car is $7000 which I don’t have

II KEPT MY JEEP COMPASS UP TODATE WITH OLL CHANGES AND BRAKES AND TIRES. I HAVE NOW EXPERINECED A REAL BAD NOISE FROM UNDER THE ENGINE. I THOUGHT IT WAS MY BRAKES OR PULLEY. IT TURNS OUT I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE A 5 SPEED. I HAVE METAL SHAVING IN MY TRANSMISSION AND MY CAR IS NOT EVEN 5 YEARS OLD. I LOVE MY CAR AND NOW IT IS GOING TO COST ME 4000+ TO GET IT FIXED. THERE ARE OTHER WARRANTYS ON THE SAME TYPE OF CARS BUT NOT MINES.

Head rest on passenger side popped out while driving and hit me, the passenger, in the head. I found that this particular model did have a recall a few years back as said below, however, our car was not recalled, why not? We went to the dealership to get this repaired and was told there was a warranty but because this head seat was no longer made they couldn't replace it. What can we do to get this repaired, shouldn't Jeep be responsible and should have notified us of a recall? Vehicle displayed an air bag light for the passenger seat. I disconnected the battery let it sit for an hour. Then I cycled the key to run and back to off. I checked the seat connectors and detached and reattached the connectors. Then reinitializes the battery. I got in the vehicle turned the key on and cleared the codes with a obd2 tool. When the airbag module cleared the side curtain and front airbags deployed with the vehicle not running.

Airbag light came on for about four days I called dealership but then went off for a week, so appointment was canceled. After that airbag light came on again scheduled another appointment by time I reached dealership light was back off. After diagnostic was performed results came back Airbag Module Internal Failure needed to be replaced and reprogram

I was driving my vehicle and out of nowhere the airbag in the driver's seat exploded. The vehicle is available for inspection. I almost wrecked. The vehicle has not been inspected by thr manufacturer yet. I left a message for the service manager at my local jeep dealership. There were no warning lights on prior to deployment.

Car stalls while driving. Sometimes car will not start. Car cranks but doesn’t start. Check engine light and sometimes the traction control light goes on. This seems similar to what is the safety recall S89 but our car was manufactured in September 2015. Root cause seems to be in the relay box with the automatic shutdown being corroded and subsequent issues with the crank shaft position sensor based on codes thrown.

My jeep compass falls under the problems of the S89 recall but my local dealer is stating my vin doesn’t meet the recall. 1 it’s a safety issue 2 I will be going down the road and the engine completely shuts off and I have to coast to the side of the road turn the ignition off. And start it back sometimes I have to wait a few minutes before it’ll start back

I purchased the vehicle in dec 2018. The odometer read 40248. I had to replace the alternator 3 times. Last one in 2021. the vehicle would loose power on the road causing a safety hazard. Since I bought the jeep the vehicle would stutter when pressing the gas pedal. 2021 at 100,000 miles Check engine light came on and stalled driving home and had to be pushed out of the lane by police. Diagnosing code said misfiring. Took to a small mechanic and replaced engine. After repair still had the stutter. and a year and a half later stalled on highway. The vehicle code now says misfiring on po302. Parked vehicle for now.

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON FEBRUARY 28, 2019 WHEN I VEERED OFF INTO A DITCH, MY VEHICLE FLEW INTO THE AIR AFTER HITTING A DRIVEWAY, AND FLIPPED AT ABOUT 55 MPH. I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL FARM TO MARKET ROAD. I WAS DRIVING AND THE ONLY ONE IN THE VEHICLE. MY SEATBELT NEVER LOCKED AS I WRECKED. IT WAS BUCKLED BUT NEVER ENGAGED. I SUBMITTED TO JEEP FOR REVIEW AND THEY DENIED MY CLAIM AND SAID THE SEATBELT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. MY SEATBELT WAS ALL THE WAY STRETCHED OUT AND EVEN FRAYED AT THE TOP WHERE THE LOOP IS. MY L1 INSTANTLY BLEW UP INTO MY SPINAL CORD AND I SUFFERED SEVERE INJURIES.

I went to adjust the headrest, The headrest popped and hit me in the head. There was some plastic pieces that came out when the headrest popped, it stayed connected. but headrest stayed (open) for the lack of a better term. about 2 to 2.5 inches. makes driving of the car really uncomfortable. had to strap the headrest back to the hard plastic, so that I don't have the headrest pushing my head forward. and I don't have to drive with my back away the back rest of the seat. This happened before I started driving.

In the summer of 2020, my front passenger headrest spontaneously popped while I was loading my child into the back of my car. The noise was scary and the popping could've easily hurt someone if there had been anyone sitting in the front seat. I contacted my local Jeep dealer quickly who informed me that there was a recall and that I could get a replacement. The replacement took well over a year to come in and wasn't replaced until October 2023. This entire time, the passenger headrest was popped out making it uncomfortable to sit and also decreasing the safety for that passenger. Now, just two months after it was finally replaced, the front passenger headrest popped AGAIN while my husband was driving and I was sitting there. Again, it was a very loud, scary noise and the jolt was both painful and shocking. This is extremely dangerous and I'm very disappointed that it happened again after taking a very long time to be fixed. I would like to know my options moving forward.

As I was backing out of a driveway, I heard a loud pop and felt something hit me in the back of the head really hard. My headrest burst open spontaneously. I now have a bad headache and sore neck.

Headrest on passenger side popped without any collision or impact. It just popped. It was very scary. I’m thankful it didn’t cause any injury to anyone. The noise was very loud and happened without warning.

In May 2020 as I was driving down the road at approximately 50 mph I suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and dropped down to 25 mph immediately. I tried to accelerate, but the vehicle would not go over 25 mph. The check engine, traction control and another light illuminated on the dash. I pulled the vehicle over and shut it off. I waited approximately 5 minutes and restarted the vehicle. All of the lights went off except the check engine light. I started to drive again and it appeared that I had function back with the accelerator. This happened again several days earlier. It seemed to happen most when I needed to accelerate to climb a hill or slight incline. This is not safe, especially when in traffic or with traffic behind you. I brought it to my local garage and it was diagnosed with a bad throttle body sensor. The sensor was replaced in May 2020. I have just begun having similar issues again recently. The vehicle seems to hesitate when the accelerator is pressed as though it is not getting enough gas. I brought it is to the garage again, and again it was diagnosed with a bad throttle body sensor. This is not something that should be replaced twice in 2 years?

I drive a 2016 jeep compass and I was heading into work at 5AM when my electronic throttle control light, check engine light and traction control light all came on. I lost the ability to accelerate so I pulled off on the side of the road and turned off my car. When I turned it back on only the check engine light came on so I started driving once again but my throttle control light blinked on a couple of times causing my vehicle to automatically slow down. I limped my car to work then home again with the same problem(same lights on). I have looked up to see what other jeep owners have said about this and they're several complaints of the throttle body failing but jeep not doing anything about it. This is a big problem that needs to be taken care of before someone seriously gets hurt when it goes out.

While driving on the highway, the electronic throttle control light suddenly flashed and the car refused to accelerate. This happened multiple times while driving so I took it to the dealership and they say the throttle body needs to be replaced for $993. Many reviews online report the same exact problem and the dealership just laughs at them and says there isn't a recall on the part. The speed limit on the road I was on was 55 mph so being shot down to 20 mph while my car jerked unexpectedly was very dangerous for me and my son in our vehicle and the cars around us. There was no warning and the car hasn't had any problems before besides a slow start about once every other month. This needs to be fixed and recalled before people end up dead.

I WAS DRIVING AND MY VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, PULLED OVER TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES TURNED MY VEHICLE BACK ON JUST CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED. AFTER WORK THAT DAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF... RPMS HAD BEEN FLUCTUATING RANDOMLY FOR ABOUT A WEEK.. GOT IN MY CAR THIS MORNING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON AND TRACTION CONTROL COMES AND GOES. NUMEROUS VEHICLES MADE BY FCA THAT HAVE THE 2.4 ENGINE ACROSS THE BOARD HAVE MULTIPLE THROTTLE BODY ISSUES CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. ALL OF THE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK IN ORDER TO STOP. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, AND NOTIFIED THE POLICE. THE POLICE OFFICER ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE IGNITION, BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED AFTER THE FOURTH ATTEMPT AND ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NORTHTOWN CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DEALER (2020 NIAGARA FALLS BLVD, TONAWANDA, NY 14150) BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT DRIVEN THE VEHICLE IN OVER 20 DAYS AND WAS CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.

Electronic throttle control Vehicle light came on my 2016 jeep compass dash as I was on vacation vehicle would not accelerate and turned off causing us to almost wreck and having to leave it on the side of the road and call a Uber and get a tow. There is many reports of this issue it needs to be a recall.

This morning (08.20.21) I was driving to work when about 1 mile in I was going 45mph and my car started stalling, causing it to drop to 10mph. The engine light and traction control light are consistently on. The electronic throttle control light is constantly blinking when I have the ignition on. My car has been in limp mode all day and will not go over 10mph. I almost got hit by the car behind me when it happened and almost hit someone else trying to get out of their way. I’ve been looking into it all day and I found that there was a recall “S89” on Jeep Compass 2016 made anytime between May 9, 2016 and July 15, 2016 and which came equipped with 2.0-liter or 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engines. Mine was manufactured July 15, 2016 and is a 2.0-liter.

ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AFTER I PUT GAS IN THE CAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WE CHECKED EVERYTHING CANNOT FIGURE OUT ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHTS CAME ON SO WE TOOK THE BATTERY OUT PUT IT BACK IN AND RESET THE LIGHTS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE NEXT TIME I DROVE IT. ROUGHLY 3 OR 4 DAYS AFTER THAT IT WAS MORNING IT WAS MISTY THE ROADS WERE WET I WENT ABOUT 5 BLOCKS TOOK A RIGHT TURN WENT ANOTHER 5 BLOCKS TOOK A LEFT TURN AND ALL THE SUDDEN ANTI SKID LIGHTS CAME ON THEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN THE LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR HAD NO POWER. SOI PULLED IT OVER AND WE HAD IT TOWED HOME I HAD A DIAGNOSTICS TEST IN IT'S C1221 I BELIEVE WAS THE CODE WE HAVE NOT DRIVE IT SINCE.

The problem happened twice, this month: First incident, waiting at a red light, light turned green, I took foot off of the break and car turned off. Placed hazards on, put car into park and turned car off and then started back up. Reserving out driveway, went to shift from R to D and my car turned off. I placed the gear shift back into park and turned the car back on. There was no warning lights or lamps when this happened. I called the dealership where I purchased the car to confirm if there were any recalls. They asked for my Vin # and stated there was no recall for this type of problem. I found online that other 2016 Jeep compass owners, did have the same issues occur and it was a crankshaft recall. Due to my manufacture date of 10-15, this was not considered a recall problem.

On Sunday, 4/14 as I was driving, my Jeep suddenly lost power and stalled. I was able to get to a median. I waited a few minutes, started the vehicle and was able to reach my destination. The next day I was driving on the highway at approximately 65mph when the engine shut off again. Fortunately there was not a lot of traffic and I was able to coast to the berm of the road. The check engine light came on. Family members came to help. We started it a few times and tried to drive but would only get a mile or two and the same thing would happen. I had to have it towed to a repair shop near my house. The mechanic drove it the next day to see if it would act the same way. He also lost power and it stalled again. He told me that the code that came up was a crankshaft sensor failure. He replaced the part the next day.

STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. HAS STOPPED AT LEAST 20 TIMES. THERE IS NO LIGHTS THAT COME ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IT IS HARD TO STEER CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHEN THIS HAPPENS.

I bought my car in Oct 2022 and it ran fantastic until this summer (July 2023) when it shut down while drive. The shop told me it was the crank shaft sensor. FIXED it. But that didn't fix the stalling issue. Had my car towed back in and they ran it, ran a lot of test on it. Finally they let it run for 30mins and found out that when the car heats up, it stalls. They told me this has to do with the sensor/engine/transmission and basically since it's hot outside as the car heats up it sends a message to the engine/transmission to shut down.

When turning key stalling to start car. Finally car wouldn’t start and I went to auto services and they said I probably needed a new battery. So I purchased a new battery. Now it’s about two months later and car is hesitating/stalling to start again as I try crank the car up.

Friday 06/17/22 Parked care to go to excise class for 1 hour, when returned the car was running/had been started , I thought maybe the key control hit another set of keys in my pocket however, when I arrived home, and cut car off, and went in house the car started again and this happen several times that day.06/18/22 went to Walmart and parked car, when returned to car and unlocked the car door ,the car automatically locked it self, I unlocked it and it locked itself again.then when got home locked the car and went inside the house, the car then started up and was running again. also, the Radio AM/FM stations not working , only the Sirius radio stations are.

While driving 2016 Jeep Compass vehicle jerks suddenly and feels like it is going to stall. Nothing changes on dashboard. This happens during acceleration or even just driving down the road or highway. Took it to dealership back in 2020 and the catalytic converter was replaced. The jerking stopped until now. Took it back to same dealership and the mechanic could not duplicate the problem. No codes thrown. Even though I have many witnesses hat have been in the vehicle while it occurred. Picked jeep back up and it started jerking while driving again within a 1/2 mile of driving away from the dealership. Repair not done. Feels unsafe to drive. I’m afraid it is going to stall and cause an accident. Mileage in 2020 incident 65000. Mileage this incident 76000

I BOUGHT A 2016 JEEP COMPASS BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER ONLY THREE YEARS (72,500 MILES), THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THE JEEP, WHICH IS A MANUAL 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION, WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEARS. IT MADE HORRENDOUS GRINDING NOISES AS THE VEHICLE FAILED AND FAILED TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. PRIOR TO IT COMPLETELY DYING, IT WAS STALLING OUT ON ME AND SLIPPING OUT OF SECOND GEAR WHILE DRIVING IT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, NOT TO MENTION HOW DISAPPOINTING THAT A CAR WHICH IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD WOULD HAVE A TRANSMISSION THAT COMPLETELY FAILED ON IT. THE JEEP WAS WELL-MAINTAINED AND GARAGE KEPT. IT WAS NEVER DRIVEN ANYWHERE EXCEPT MAIN ROADS AND HIGHWAYS.

MY CAR WOULD SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND STREETS. MY CAR SHUT OFF AT HIGH SPEED, LOW SPEED, SHORT DISTANCE AND LONG DISTANCE. I WAS ADVISED BY A MECHANIC THAT THIS WAS THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR THAT WAS RECALLED ON 2016 JEEP VEHICLES THOUGH MID JULY AND MY CAR IS AUGUST (RECALL S89). I TOOK VEHICLE TO JEEP DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE CAUSE IS THE CRANKSHAFT CENSOR BUT IM BEING CHARGED $350 FOR THIS SAME BAD PART BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I ALMOST DIES ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO THIS FAULTY PART. I TOOK MY CAR TO 3 MECHANICS AND WILL OUT OF POCKET $800 BECAUSE THE RECALL DID NOT EXTEND TO MY VEHICLE. ITS WRONG AND EXTREMELY UNSAFE!!!!

I recently got the catalytic converter and 02 sensor swapped which removed the check engine light. My vehicle was running perfect. The I drive it today. Made a right turn, next thing you know the vehicle starts shaking and such and won’t go over 20 mph. I take it to the mechanic. They’re telling me the reader isn’t picking up the problem. Invalid data. I looked online and multiple people are having the same problem. My thing is I was overcharged charged 25,000 for this vehicle from Sam at jeep, Chrysler, dodge on route 300 Newburgh New York 2 years ago.

I bought this car year and half ago and I been doing a lot of repairs in it and now the engine light came on and stated the bank 1 and bank 2 sensor camshaft and engine is stalling and car is jerking very dangerous I did allighment new control arms engine mounts I repaired a lot I put new tires I can’t drive it on the high way it starts to jerk left and right and steering is very hard to control seats are horribale and so are the seatbelts.

VEHICLE WILL WITHOUT WARNING STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, IN CITY TRAFFIC, ON COUNTRY ROADS, STARTING UP A HILL AS WELL AS DRIVING ON FLAT STRAIGHT ROAD. I'VE BEEN DRIVING 55MPH, 45 MPH 25 MPH AND IT WILL STALL, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL NOT RESTART FOR 10+ MINUTES AFTER STALLING. EACH TIME I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, AND HAD CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WITH PEOPLE BEHIND ME. ENGINE JUST CUTS ALL POWER, POWER STEERING IS LOST. ALSO HAVE NOTICED A HUGE DROP IN FUEL EFFICIENCY, USED ABOUT 1/4 OF A TANK IN 30 MILES, ACCELERATION AND VEHICLE NOT SHIFTING NORMALLY. The contact's wife owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled. Additionally, the vehicle experienced a lost of power steering assist. The contact stated he self-inspected the vehicle and code P0339 (Crank Shaft A Sensor) was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle as having crank shaft sensor failure. The mechanic referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA Hotline. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

THE JEEP WILL STALL/STOP RUNNING AT VARIOUS POINTS WHILE IN MOTION, WHEN STOPPING, WHEN STARTING. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON AS WHEN THIS MIGHT OCCUR. I CAN HAVE THE AC RUNNING OR NOT, THE HEATER RUNNING OR NOT. THERE IS NO MECHANICAL PROCESS THAT SHOWS ME THIS WILL HAPPEN. IT IS COMPLETELY RANDOM. I UNDERSTAND THERE WAS A REPLACED PART AS PART OF THE CHRYSLER S89 RECALL IN APRIL OF 2017, WHICH IS OUT OF WARRANTY ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER. THE PROBLEM IS STILL PERSISTING AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME CONSIDERING IT STALLS RANDOMLY AND WHILE IN MOTION. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM CARMAX IN JUNE 2021 WITH NO NOTICE OF THE FORMER RECALL AND ISSUE.

MY VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN A HIGHWAY AND WAS PULLED OVER IN THE EARLY MORNING BY A STATE TROOPER. THE OFFICER CAME UP TO THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO TAIL LIGHTS. WE WERE GIVING A WARNING AND WAS TOLD TO GET IT FIXED AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY AGAIN. SINCE THEN STILL HAVEN'T COME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO FIX IT. ALL OTHER LIGHTS LIKE HEAD LIGHTS, REVERSE LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS, BRAKES LIGHTS AND BRIGHT LIGHTS ALL WORK JUST NOT THE TAIL LIGHTS. I BELIEVE THAT IT IS SOMETHING WITH THE TIPM BECAUSE I RAN A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND WAS GIVEN A CODE WHICH ALSO STATED THE TIPM READING IS LOW. IT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED YET DUE TO HOW MUCH IT COASTS TO GET IT REPAIRED.

ON TUESDAY, 9/15/2020 I WENT TO TURN ON MY JEEP COMPASS FROM MY DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULD NOT START. HOWEVER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LATER THAT EVENING I TRIED STARTING MY JEEP AGAIN, IT STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOW OFF. ON FRIDAY, 6/18/2020 I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO ADVANCED AUTO WHERE THEY CHECKED MY BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, AND STARTER - ALL 3 ITEMS CAME BACK GOOD. ON MY WAY HOME FROM ADVANCED AUTO I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON SOUTH RAILROAD STREET IN PALMYRA, PA. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN FOR ME TO GO, I WENT TO RELEASE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE JUST COMPLETELY SHUT OFF - IT WAS JUST COMPLETELY DEAD, NOTHING WAS WORKING. I THEN WENT TO PUT MY FOOT BACK ON THE BRAKE, AND I FELT PRESSURE UNDERNEATH THE BRAKE THAT WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO COMPLETELY PRESS IT DOWN. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I TRIED TURNING MY KEY AND RESTARTING THE CAR, AND IT TURNED BACK ON AND I WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO DRIVE IT BACK HOME. ON 9/22/2020 KELSEY SHELLEHAMER CALLED ME FROM LADD-HANFORD TO INFORM ME THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS FAULTY, THAT THERE HAD BEEN RECALLS FOR THE SAME MODEL BUT JUST NOT MY YEAR, SO SHE WAS GOING TO CALL CHRYSLER AND SEE IF THEY WOULD PAY FOR IT ANYWAY. ON 9/23/2020 I RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM KELSEY. SHE STATED THAT SHE SPOKE TO CHRYSLER, THEIR WARRANTY DEPARTMENT AND ALSO MVP, ALL OF WHICH DECLINED RESPONSIBILITY FOR FIXING THE PART.

SEVERE TIRE WEAR ON JEEP COMPASS ON 05/12/16 I TOOK A RENTAL CAR (JEEP COMPASS, MILEAGE: 10417) IN LAS VEGAS. ON 05/26/16, JUST AS WE HAD PASSED THE MOUNTAIN ROUTES FROM DURANGO TO OURAY, I DISCOVERED BY CHANCE THAT BOTH FRONT TIRES WERE COMPLETELY WORN OUT ON THE INSIDE (SEE PHOTOS). I DID NOT DISCOVER IT EARLIER, BECAUSE THE TIRE TREAD WAS O.K. ON THE OUTSIDE AND THE BODY HIDED THE REST OF THE TIRE. THEN I DROVE VERY SLOWLY. SOON AFTER CAME THE WARNING LIGHT FOR THE TIRE PRESSURE: THE LEFT FRONT TIRE LOST PRESSURE (MILEAGE APPROXIMATELY: 12250). I CHANGED THE WHEEL AND WAS HOPING THAT THE RIGHT TIRE HELD AIR TO THE NEAREST TOWN. WE REACHED THE TOWN WITHOUT FURTHER PROBLEM. AS I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE TIRE SHOP, THEY TOLD ME, THAT THE TOE WAS COMPLETELY WRONG AND THAT WHEEL ALIGNMENT WOULD BE NECESSARY (SEE ALIGNMENT REPORT). WHILE AT MILOSCH PALACE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP IN LAKE ORION I NOTICED THE POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE WAS CONTACTING THE FRONT SUSPENSION SWAY BAR AT STATIONARY CURB CONDITION. THIS IS A DESIGN VIOLATION WHICH I TOLD FCA ABOUT WHEN I WORKED THERE IN 2014. THE ISSUE HAS EXISTED NOW FROM JULY OF 2014 UNTIL NOW. I have had problems with Jeep suddenly losing all power while driving with NO WARNING! Everytime ive had it checked they could not find anything wrong with it. Just recently it happened again and since then when I drive it doesn't seem to want to accelerate. There are no noises,instrument lights on any codes showing up. I had to wait a month for my appointment at the dealership and then another month for them to even tell me what was wrong. They said i need a new transmission which is ridiculous since my car only has 89,956 miles and a majority of those miles are from military moves. The only thing they did was run a diagnostic test (nothing showed up) and said they had 2 people test drive it ( but my mileage was the same going in and going out) They told me it would cost 7500 before taxes for the transmission. They could not give me a clear answer when I asked what exactly is wrong with the transmission. I was told that its something internal but they couldn't tell me exactly the problem because that would require them to take it apart. I asked if I should get a transmission flush to make sure it wasn't that since I just learned that cvt should be flushed earlier than usual and he told me probably not. I decide to take my car home and will never use them again. I went two months without a car and was unable to work because they did not offer me any time of vehicle while I had to wait. Im concerned because Mopar discontinued the transaxle package with torque converter, part number 68000676AH that is for my vehicle because it is known to be defective. I bought this car brand new and thought it was clear of any defects or safety issues. A new transmission for a car that is less than 10 years old is ridiculous and seems like a lemon. Since Jeep knows this Jatco transmission is defective and also discontinued it with a different part then why arent they offering a goodwill repair or at least a warranty adjustment. I will now have to quit my job or buy a new car.

We were driving down the road and the car started violently shaking, the check engine light went on and the car wouldn't move. The car needed to be pushed to the gas station and we almost got hit with my son in his car seat. I do believe this is a safety concern that needs to be looked into for a possible recall. The mechanic determined that the transmission needed to be rebuilt.

I have been having issues with my vehicle for the past month or so. I took it to a mechanic and they said that my Power Transfer Unit is bad and my vehicle currently doesn't have 4 wheel drive capability. My vehicle periodically stutters, slows and looses power while driving at freeway speeds. During all of my issues, not once has my check engine light or any sort of indicator has lit up letting me know I have an issue with my vehicle. I thought newer cars are supposed to know when there is an issue with the vehicle. This is completely unacceptable and now I'm looking at over $2,000 in repairs.

Car is showing symptoms of crankshaft failure. Car is shaking when accelerating, low gas performance, and accelerating is sometimes unresponsive. Other 2016 Jeeps of the same year, make and model have been given a recall for the same problem but this vehicle has not been included in the recall even though it has the same problems.

While driving, our jeep suddenly turned off. We had to immediately pull over to get out of traffic. When we tried restarting it would act like it wanted to start but the engine would never actually start, & we noticed the ETC dash light was lit. Pulled out the manual, followed the instructions with no luck. My husband got out & opened the hood & noticed a burning smell. That is when we decided to call a tow truck. I had driven the jeep earlier that day to & from work & for an errand after work with no problems & no warning lights. The vehicle is @ the dealership now, but since we didn't have an appointment I've been told it may take up to 3 weeks before they can get to it.

EVERYTHING CAME BACK NORMAL SO I LEFT. LATER IN THE DAY AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD IT STALLED AGAIN AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF THIS TIME. First noticed condensation on the inside of the windshield and dealership alledgedly unclogged sunroof drains.Then noticed ice formed on the inside of the windshield and passenger floor-board carpet damp specifically by door jam seal. While driving water pooled and leaked through front dome light. Having water fall through the ceiling via the light while driving through an intersection presents a safety issue because of distraction, visibility and potential electrical issues due to water damage. The Vehicle is currently back at the dealership and they are trying to recreate the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages other than the condensation, ice on the inside of the windshield.

Yesterday I had the Crankshaft Position Sensor replaced because of the ongoing stalling while idle and stalling while in motion issues. Today it has stalled 5 times while in motion on surface streets and the highways going over 40 mph and twice in a parking when sitting idle or initial startup. For the times when in motion and it stalled I was able to get off the road and avoid any collisions. This is unsafe, the truck must sit for an unknown period of time before it will restart. I am currently sitting on the freeway with hazards until it restarts. I spoke with Chrysler recall and they say there is nothing wrong with the truck and the information online showing multiple 2016 Jeep Compass stalling issues doesn’t mean anything because it’s not in the Jeep database. In the past when it stalls the check engine light normally does not come on. In my research it shows other owners being told the dealer cans dx anything because no errors. We are supposed to just drive these death traps until one of us dies before Chrysler will do anything. I am not financially able to go to a dealer and pay for diagnostics and repairs. As it stand I paid over $400 yesterday for that one part to be replaced. When will Chrysler be held accountable for these safety issues related to driving a vehicle that stalls and loses power while in motion. Then will not restart for an unknown amount of time. Why do we have to possibly pay with our lives. If this truck actually held value l could trade it in. But I can’t it’s worth 5k on kbb and the note is at 17k. In a previous complaint I got the mileage wrong and stated 116k.

While driving the vehicle shut down, I lost all steering. It has a history of stalling while driving, stalling while idle, and not restarting for random periods of time. After getting the vehicle restarted it stalled again two more times while driving. I parked in a parking lot for a shopping center. When I cam out after a period of 30-45 minutes - the vehicle will not start and just turns over and over. I used FIXD to determine the camshaft position sensor was listed as a "major" issue - error P0335. I believe this vehicle is unsafe and it is only a matter of time when I will be injured due to the stalling and non-restarting issues. I also believe Chrysler is responsible for this problem. Considering the vast amounts of user evidence online of other owners having the same issues - Chrysler is just waiting for them to age off the road. I purchased the vehicle from Carmax on 6/18/2022 and feel I was sold a lemon. I have made a complaint on this site before. I have called Chrysler and they say there is nothing wrong with my vehicle - it has been repaired and they did their part. Obviously this is not the case for mine and thousands of other owners across the country. Why are we the ones who have to suffer at the negligence of the automaker? Do I have to die or become severely injured for them to take responsibility for their design and manufacturing flaws? Do others have to suffer irreparable damage also? Why won't the government do something about these unsafe vehicle we were sold? It is not enough to say "well there are no active recalls".

The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the front passenger’s side control arms and bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the rear of the vehicle experienced a similar failure. The vehicle was not repaired. On another occasion while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact felt warm water dripping onto her leg. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the air condition pipe was clogged causing the antifreeze to back up and leak. The pipe was unclogged. The manufacturer was contacted and stated there was no recalls on the VIN regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 117,000.

I WAS ON A VACATION TRIP AND MY SON WAS DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND HE CRASHED INTO A POLE. MY WIFE AND I THOUGHT THE STEERING WAS ROUGH BUT THOUGHT IT WOULD EASE UP. AFTER THE CAR WAS HIT THE AXEL ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WAS DESTROYED. HE WASN'T MOVING FAST ENOUGH FOR THE AXEL TO GET DAMAGED WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THE AXEL WAS POORLY CONSTRUCTED IN THE FIRST PLACE. Car starts fine. After the car gets up to operating team the car will just stop running, very dangerous in traffic as it cannot be sterred or hardly stopped. The lightning bolt symbol appears on dash then car just dies. I replaced 2 camshaft position sensors and 1 connector. Car was fine for 2 weeks then started acting even crazier. I scan obd2 but get no codes.

I bought my 2016 Jeep Compass Latitude in September of 2021 with a warranty which because of some rotor and other issues they gave me a loaner vehicle while they did the repairs for a week or so. It didn't give me too many problems for a while but then in these last two years or so then a lot has been breaking on it or acting up & I only got a little over 86k miles on it, but any warranties are expired at 80K. I've replaced the battery, the rear hub/bearings 2x, all of the rotors & brakes 2x now, I go through engine oil even though I do regular oil changes on it, and most recently it was doing a "death wobble" that was so unsafe I was afraid to drive it myself let alone have my son with me in case it did it & it was very unpredictable when it would happen too, generally over 45 mph and after I had been driving for over 15 minutes would be the most likely time for it, unfortunately not always though & the 1st mechanic I took it too couldn't even get it to do it. The 2nd mechanic suggested changing the driver brake line to the caliper to see if that helped since I'd just replaced that brake caliper but that the majority of my front end suspension, hub/bearing & axle, spring coils, etc. would all need replaced because of how worn out they was already looking too (it was exactly 86003 miles when I went to the 2nd mechanic) and if it was still doing it after that then he would figure it out, thankfully replacing the brake line seems to have stopped the "death wobble" problem for now. I'm not sure this is even a valid complaint, if not then I apologize but I've never seen so many parts, issues at once, esp. with that mileage. The unpredictable "death wobble" is definitely a safety concern at least & incase others have all these costly problems at once too. The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle lost electrical and motive power, causing the vehicle to shut off. The contact was able to pull over on the shoulder of the roadway and restart the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an Auto Zone where it was ODB scanned and determined that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle hesitated and failed to exceed 60 MPH. The RPM was fluctuating with the temperature gauge showing that the engine was overheating. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer however, a cause for the failure was not found. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Have replaced Cam Shaft AND Crankshaft Positioning sensors to no avail. Check engine light will come and go, sometimes with the traction control lights as well if the brake is engaged for any length of time. After these lights come on, the jeep loses the ability to accelerate, leaving the car in limp mode. Light goes off after each sensor is replaced, will drive fine for a day or so, and then will leave you stuck. All attempts to diagnose, end in codes that have already been fixed

On October 12, 2021about 1:30pm, I was at my dentist office. As I was leaving, my 2016 Jeep Compass would not start. I called my wife to bring jumper cables to me. I jumped my vehicle and started towards home. My driveway has a slite income and I drove just inside the overhead door and stopped. For a moment, I took my food off the brake pedal to draw my drivers mirror inward, at that moment, the vehicle started forward. I slammed my foot unto the brake pedal and the pedal went to the floor, not stopping the vehicle before hitting my work bench. The front edge of the hood had five dents in it. I made an appointment with the local Jeep dealer for October 19, 2021. I explained to the service adviser, about the battery and brake pedal, both happening on the same day. Later in that day, the adviser called me at home. They could not find a problem with the brake system, However, they said I needed a new battery. I gave them the okay. Several times sense that time, I have felt like my pedal was going to the floor, while stopping the vehicle.

I was recently driving my vehicle at a speed of 50mph when all of a sudden the engine light and the electrical light came on and I was unable to accelerate. I was able to pull over. Restart the car and get to my mechanic. A diagnostic was run and it was determined it was the throttle body actuator. I said fix the part. Apparently it is on backorder and there is nothing Jeep can to and the only way you can get one emergently, is to have your car break down The following day I was driving and my vehicle completely stopped without warning. I was able to pull over. My car was not drivable and had to be towed. I called Jeep and the service manager laughed and said the part was on backorder. My brother was able to find an aftermarket part to replace it. I filed a claim with Jeep to cover it and replace the part and they told me there is no recall and they will not do it. My car is 6 years old, which is not old for a Jeep. Upon looking on-line, this is an ongoing issue with Jeep Compasses since 2015. Jeep knows this is a SAFETY issue and they are not recalling the part. If I was on the highway when this happened, I would have been killed. There is no warning at all. You are at a speed and then the car just shuts down. There is no warning. This needs to be investigated as it is a serious safety defect with the vehicle that Jeep knows about and is refusing to put the safety of their customers first.

Occasionally, while driving, the vehicle will exhibit catastrophic electrical system failures. I was driving home just last night, and my headlights, turn signals, horn, windshield wipers, dash lights, hazard lights, and cruise control all turned off. I was able to limp it home with the help of someone driving in front of me, because I could not see. Imagine doing 45 mph on a turn at night, in an area with no streetlights, and all of a sudden your headlights and running lights turn off. I'm lucky I didn't hit a tree. No hazards means no one would have seen me on the road waiting for help until it was too late.

I WAS GOING WEST ON FAIR VIEW AVENUE IN TUCSON, ARIZONA WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY SHIFTED OUT OF DRIVE INTO SOMETHING BELOW DRIVE. IT STARTED SHIMMYING BACK AND FORTH AND WOULD NOT PROCEED. I WAS COMING UPON A 4 WAY STOP, SO I FINALLY GOT THE CAR BACK INTO DRIVE; IT SEEMED OK. I DROVE VERY CAREFULLY AND SLOWLY HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT--MAYBE 4 OR 5 BLOCKS. HOWEVER, WHEN I TURNED INTO MY GARAGE, THE GEARSHIFT SHIFTED BELOW AGAIN AND MY CAR SHIMMIED OUT OF CONTROL BACK AND FORTH AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR WAS BADLY SCRAPED, AND THE LEFT TAILLIGHT CRACKED. SO, THE FIRST TIME I WAS BRIEFLY STATIONARY WAITING FOR THE CARS AHEAD OF ME TO MOVE, BUT THE SECOND TIME I WAS IN MOTION BUT MOVING VERY SLOWLY TO NEGOTIATE THE ENTRANCE TO THE GARAGE, SO ALMOST STATIONARY. THE GARAGE WAS NOT DAMAGED. I DO NOT HAVE A CELL PHONE THAT CAN TAKE PHOTOS AT THIS TIME, BUT I HOPE TO SECURE A CELL PHONE. ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO MY CAR STARTED STALLING OUT ON ME OUT OF NOWHERE, I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC SO THEY COULD TRY TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY SO I BOUGHT A NEW ONE( $183). 2 DAYS LATER THE CAR STARTED STALLING OUT ON ME AGAIN WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY A COP HAD TO PUSH MY CAR OUT OF THE WAY BECAUSE I WAS BLOCKING TRAFFIC AND IN AN UNSAFE LOCATION, I HAD TO GET IT TOWED ($80) & TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM ($198) THEY SAID MY CAR HAD A SAFETY RECALL DUE TO THE CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT SENSOR THEY RECOMMENDED THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THAT IS THE MANUFACTURERS FAULT AND CHRYSLER WILL FIX IT FOR FREE. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REDIAGNOSE MY CAR FOR $200 AND PAY $540 FOR THEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE WHICH I AM NOT AT FAULT FOR. I ASKED IF I WOULD BE ABLE TO GET A RENTAL THROUGH THEM THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR IT. I STARTED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER ON 07/29 AND AM STILL WAITING ON THE SPECIALIST TO REVIEW THIS. I AM FRUSTRATED. EVERY DAY THAT GOES BY IS ANOTHER DAY THAT I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET TO WORK WHETHER IT BE ASKING FOR A RIDE OR PAYING FOR A RENTAL OUT OF POCKET. I WOULD UNDERSTAND IF I GOT IN A WRECK AND THE SENSOR MESSED UP I WOULD PAY FOR IT MYSELF NO QUESTIONS ASKED. ALL I'M ASKING IS FOR CHRYSLER TO HONOR THE SAFETY RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE. I HAVE DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE FOR 3 YEARS WITH NO ISSUES UNTIL RECENTLY. I TAKE CARE OF IT AND MAINTENANCE IT REGULARLY. AROUND APRIL 29TH I FELT SOME STEERING ISSUES AND BROUGHT IT IN TO FIRESTONE WHO TOLD ME IT NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED AN ABS SENSOR AND A FEW TIRE SENSORS. SINCE THEN ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE HAS RANDOMLY AND INTERMITTENTLY STALLED WHILE DRIVING. I CAN BE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY LOSE ACCELERATION, POWER STEERING, AND BRAKES. IT HAS HAPPENED AFTER A TURN, WHILE JUST GOING STRAIGHT AT 45 MPH, WHILE IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC, AND WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON. THE IGNITION HAS TO BE TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NEARLY CAUSED A COLLISION TWICE. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 22ND AND THEY HAD MY CAR UNTIL JUNE 25TH. THEY REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION CARRIAGE, AND SOME FRAYED WIRING. THE ISSUE HAPPENED 3 MORE TIMES AFTER THOSE REPAIRS. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP ON JUNE 27TH AND IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP (TODAY IS JULY 2ND). THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY CANNOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND WANT ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK WITHOUT DOING ANY REPAIRS. I AM NOW WORKING WITH THE GM AND CFO OF THE DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND RESOLVE THIS AND I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER (CASE #59096741). I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND I REFUSE TO PUT MY CHILDREN IN IT. ALL SERVICE RECORDS THAT I HAVE ARE INSIDE THE VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIP.

THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER, WAITED A FEW SECONDS, AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACCELERATING NORMALLY AGAIN. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HOMER SKELTON JEEP CHRYSLER (7661 US-51, MILLINGTON, TN 38053, (901) 872-0195) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT NEW BRAKES WITH SENSORS AND PAD LOCKS NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE BRAKE FAILURE RECURRED. THE ACCELERATION FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,117.

I TOOK MY CAR TO GET FIXED AND THE JEEP COMPASS WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CRANKSHAFT MY CRANKSHAFT HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED AND I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2016 JEEP COMPASSES. SINCE BEGINNING OF 2018 MY JEEP HAS STALLED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND I WAS DRIVING. I BROUGHT IT TO DEALER ON 2/15/18. DEALER SAYS IT COULD BE FROM LOW OIL. WHEN HE CHECKED THE OIL THE OIL LEVEL WAS GOOD AND CLEAN. HE RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE THE OIL ANYWAY. WHICH I DID. AGAIN JEEP STALLED 2 TIMES WHILE IN MOTION AND I WAS DRIVING. ON THE DASHBOARD THE WORD ESC APPEARS AND AFTER I RESTART THE ENGINE IT DISAPPEARS. I HAVE NOT SEEN A PATTERN WETHER IT BE MY SPEED, TURNING OR STOPPING AT A LIGHT. WENT BACK TO DEALERSHIP ON 4/9/2018. SERVICE MANAGER CHECKED CAR BY PLUGGING IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST. ONLY STORED CODES APPEARED. NO CODE TO SHOW PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD I HAVE TO WAIT ABOUT MONTH FOR A LOANER IN ORDER TO LEAVE THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER REVIEW. DRIVING THIS JEEP IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONS WHEN A PERSON IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALER & IT IS STILL NOT CORRECTED. I HAVE AN OPEN INVESTIGATION WITH CHRYSLER CORPORATE TOO. CORPORATE HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH ALL 2016 JEEP COMPASS SEAT BELTS ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BUT STILL EXPECT PEOPLE TO DRIVE THEIR VEHICLES KNOWING THERE IS A PROBLEM & THEY SAY THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. IF A PERSON IS SITTING IN THE SEAT THE ALARM WILL GO OFF INDICTING THE SEAT BELT NEEDS TO BE FASTENED WHEN IN FACT IT IS. IT WILL ALSO THINK A PERSON HAS A SEAT BELT ON WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHEN THEY REALLY DON'T. I HAVE VIDEO OF THIS & EYEWITNESSES. I HAVE QUESTION THE AIRBAG LINKAGE TO THE SEATBELT MALFUNCTIONING IF IT CAN CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO FAIL OR MALFUNCTION & CORPORATE IS UNSURE IF THIS IS POSSIBLE.I HAVE ACTUALLY TRIED TO TRADE THE VEHICLE & CANNOT BECAUSE ALL OTHER DEALERS ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND REFUSE TO TAKE IT. I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THIS SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE WHICH I BOUGHT MARCH 2016. AFTER I BOUGHT IT I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER WITHIN AN HOUR & A HALF AND INFORMED THEM OF THE SEAT BELT ISSUE AND THEY BLEW IT OFF AND HAVE CONTINUED TO BLOW IT OFF UNTIL CORPORATE GOT INVOLVED BUT BOTH SIDES CAN'T FIX OR FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM & WILL NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK ON TRADE AS THEY HAVE ADMITTED IT IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE DUE TO THE SEATBELT ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE.' I AM ALSO HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL ECONOMY AS IT IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN WHAT WAS ADVERTISED AND WHAT IS POSTED ON CORPORATE'S WEBSITE. I HAVE RECEIPTS AND VIDEO TO SHOW AS PROOF. TAKATA RECALL. AT RANDOM MOMENTS WITHOUT HITTING THE WIPPER SWITCH AT ALL THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL COME ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. SOMETIMES IF I TURN MY BLINKER ON WHICH IS A OPPOSITE STICK THEY WILL ACTIVATE. WHEN THIS DOES HAPPEN MY LIGHTS WILL FLICKER VERY BRIEFLY. ON DECEMBER 9, 2016 I RENTED A JEEP COMPASS AND ON THAT DAY I HAD A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING IN THE COUNTRY. VERY LOW TRAFFIC AREA. BEFORE APPLYING THE BRAKE, I WAS DRIVING AT A SAFE SPEED FOR THE ROAD CONDITIONS - FIFTEEN TO TWENTY MPH ON FRESH SNOW AND SOME PACKED SNOW OVER A PAVED ROAD BASE. AT ABOUT TWENTY TO TWENTY FIVE FEET BEFORE A STOP SIGN I BEGAN TO APPLY THE BRAKE. THE BRAKE DID NOTHING. THERE WAS CLICKING NOISES AND THE COMPASS SEEMED TO ACCELERATE. I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE AS I ROLLED THROUGH THE STOP AREA FOR THE STOP SIGN. THE PAVED ROAD ENDED AT THE STOP SIGN AND TURNED INTO A DIRT ROAD BASE. AT THIS POINT I TURNED THE WHEEL AS THE MOMENTUM CONTINUED. I WAS HOPING THE DIRT ROAD BASE WOULD PROVIDE GRAB FOR THE TURNED FRONT TIRES AND STEER THE COMPASS TO THE DIRECTION OF THE DIRT ROAD. THERE WAS NO GRAB AND THE COMPASS CONTINUED TO DRIVE ACROSS THE DIRT ROAD FOR ABOUT ANOTHER TWENTY FEET AS I CONTINUED TO APPLY THE BRAKE. I HAD APPLIED THE BRAKE FOR ABOUT FORTY-FIVE FEET WHEN I SEE THE TEN FOOT DROP DITCH AHEAD OF ME. THE COMPASS DIDN'T SLOW, EVER. IT SEEMED TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULDN'T BE DIRECTED BY STEERING IT. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER IT. AT THIS POINT I DID ALL THAT I COULD THINK OF TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I LOOKED AT THE DITCH AND KNEW THAT THE SUV AND I WOULD RECEIVE DAMAGE. THE COMPASS ROLLED INTO THE DITCH. WHEN THE SUV FINALLY STOPPED I WAS UP SIDE DOWN. FOR ME TO BEST DESCRIBE THIS JEEP COMPASS IS THAT IT WAS A "TERMINATOR". IT HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN. ONCE I APPLIED THE BRAKE, I HAD NO CONTROL OVER IT. *TR
