Auto Start Stop feature stop working and caused my car to stall. I had to set my car to stop, take my foot of the break. Re started my car, all while traffic was going, in danger of getting rear ended.

Uconnect radio screen has severe delamination. This caused ghost presses on the screen. The ghost presses continuously make random phone calls including calls to emergency services. This poses a severe safety hazard as the operator has to pick their phone up to communicate with emergency personnel so law enforcement does not send a responding officer thinking there’s an emergency. It also poses a safety hazard for responding emergency personnel trying to respond to the false emergency notification.

The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled a second time. The vehicle was later towed to the residence. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The local dealer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 67,000.

On July 9th 2022 the car showed a low oil pressure warning then shut down going around a curve but I was able to restart the vehicle. Within a few minutes I was stopped at an intersection and the car stalled again and I was unable to restart it which resulted in my car being rear ended. On July 12 th I contacted my Jeep dealership to discuss this and I was told that a recall was done on the car due to this same problem. Apparently the repair did not fully correct the problem as it happened to me AFTER the completed recall. Fortunately no one was seriously injured this time but…

The defrost system built into the front windsheild shorted out. This issue resulted in sparking and smoking inside of the car while the front electrical defrost was turned on. This issue could have easily resulted in catastrophic events had we not realized exactly what was happening. There were no warnings of the sytem being in failure. The issue is also apparently not covered under the vehicle warranty and now will cost out of pocket to replace something that I had no control over. The dealership was able to confirm the issue.

Two times while driving the car shuts completely down, No acceleration, no warning lights, hard to steer. Both times luckily I was on a low traffic road. After it completely stopped and I tried to restart the car it would sound like it wanted to turn over but never did. It sounded like when someone floods a car. Another time it was -20 outside and I was starting it from my key starter ( I don't have one of the newer key fobs)...mine has a normal key with an electric lock and auto start buttons. Anyway I pushed the starter button and it acted like normal with the headlights blinked twice and normally it starts in about 3 seconds. When I went to get in my car it was off and stone cold. I went to start it and acted like I previously stated. The master mechanics can't find anything wrong with it both times I've had my car towed to the repair shop. They replaced the sparkplugs and battery and it happened again after it was "fixed" .

Delamination of touch screen to radio/electronic control panel. This causes the system to touch random portions of the screen, deeming it uncontrollable. The system will also make phone calls I’m not trying to make. More importantly, when I try to make phone calls, it will immediately disconnect the call. I had an emergency on the road recently and needed to make and receive calls but was unable to! In addition, I was driving and trying to figure out how to get my phone to work, which was a huge danger to me and others. This is stock equipment manufactured by LG. The first sign of this issue was the screen changing randomly, plus there is visible signs of delamination, which at first i believed to be water damage. No one has raised this issue after inspection, but after doing a quick search, I see that it is a widespread problem among Jeep vehicles.

the auto start/stop function shuts vehicle off and unable to start gain my safety and of others was high as it happens on multiple lane highways unable to reproduce as it can happen randomly, there were no warning lights or any other sign of future stalling or complete shut down when stopping.

My Jeep was manufactured August 2016 directly after a recall for camshaft position sensory and crankshaft position sensor. For the past 3 years I have gotten a periodical check engine light for the camshaft position sensor in bank 1. Two weeks ago the engine began to stall at random times and the camshaft position sensor light came back on. I replaced it this weekend and the issue is persisting. I've checked everything else and there are no other codes that are pulling. I have had it inspected at my employment since I work for a dealership. The engine stalling on the highway is putting me and other drivers at a huge safety risk. I have almost been hit three times when it has stalled and there is nothing I can do in the middle of the road.

THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES. THE VEHICLE IS OFF FOR MAX OF 3 HOUR PERIOD. UPON STARTING VEHICLE TO DRIVE, IT RUNS IDLE AND ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. THE COMPUTER SYSTEM RUNS THROUGH A NUMBER OF MESSAGES STATING VARIOUS SETTINGS ARE NOT WORKING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. DRIVER'S SIDE CAN'T CONTROL PASSENGER SIDE FUNCTIONS. Uconnect touch screen delaminating on my 2017 Jeep Compass Limited 4X4. Started right after my car was just out of warranty, so when I called no one would help me or fix the issue. This was about 2 years ago, I have been dealing with this issue since 2020, it is now 2023.. Since then the screen has gotten WAY worse, delaminating half the screen. It is very distracting while driving and a safety hazard as it will randomly change settings, change which screen I'm on (if on audio, it will change to climate control etc.), sometimes does not work while I am touching the screen, like if I am trying change my climate control settings. If I am driving and need to change my AC up or heat down and its not working, I am having to take my eyes off the road longer to try and get the screen to work, which is a huge safety hazard. Also, probably not be related to the delamination, but my phone will not connect through USB to my Jeep, therefore I cannot use Android Auto. This is also a safety concern as I have to hold my phone or set it down on my lap and look down constantly to use GPS. I live in NJ and GPS is a MUST when driving anywhere. I have tried many different phones, different cables, and resetting my system, with no luck. With so many things wrong with the Jeeps screens especially 2017 and 2018 models you would think they would put out a recall, specifically for the delamination! This is happening to SO many people with various Jeep models. I have been on the phone with Jeep multiple times, many times with representatives who are short with me, and do not care about the issue. It seems as if they get so many calls about the same issue, that once they hear that you are having problems with your screen delaminating they just dismiss you and want to get you off the phone. The issues I am dealing with, along with so many others is very distracting and a major safety concern when the screen is not working property while driving.

MY JEEP COMPASS IS HAVING ISSUES STARTING. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC TWICE IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS BECAUSE IT KEEPS NOT STARTING! I'VE TRIED JUMPING THE BATTERY AND NOTHING. IF IT SITS JUST ONE DAY WITHOUT IT BEING STARTED, IT WILL GO COMPLETELY DEAD AND WON'T TAKE A JUMP. AS OF RIGHT NOW, MY MECHANIC DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT'S WRONG.

THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN. FIRST, THE RADIO SCREEN HAS BEEN SLOWLY SEPARATING FROM THE RADIO, WHICH HASN'T AFFECTED THE USE OF THE TOUCH SCREEN USAGE. IT IS ABOUT HALF WAY SEPARATED. ALL OF A SUDDEN WE FIND THE UNIT CHANGING OUR RADIO STATIONS USING OUR PRESETS AND MANUALLY ENTERING IN DIGITS; IT SCROLLS THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENT OPTIONS AND STOPS ON ANY ONE OF THEM RANDOMLY; IT HAS SELECTED THE UCONNECT APP TRYING TO LOAD SOME APPLICATION THAT ISN'T LOADED; IT HAS SELECTED TO TURN ON THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL; IT HAS SELECTED TO TURN ON EITHER SEAT'S HEATER AND THEN OFF AGAIN, THEN BOTH, ETC.; IT HAS SELECTED THE NAVIGATION AND ROUTED TO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND STARTED THE NAVIGATION ALL ON IT'S OWN; ON ONE DRIVE, WHILE IN MOTION, THIS SUMMER WHEN 100 DEG OUTSIDE, IT HAS TURNED THE HEATER ALL THE WAY UP AND THEN LOCKED THE SCREEN SO WE COULDN'T CHANGE IT BACK. ON THIS ONE, IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT! MY HAS HAD A STROKE BEFORE AND CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT. WHEN IT WOULDN'T LET HER CHANGE IT BACK TO AIR CONDITIONING SHE NEARLY PASSED OUT TRYING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WOULDN'T EVEN LET HER USE THE MANUAL KNOBS TO CONTROL THE AIR CONDITIONING. THEY WERE LOCKED. EVEN WHEN TURNING CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON DIDN'T HELP INITIALLY. IT TOOK 3 TIMES UNTIL IT LET HER ADJUST IT. THESE HAPPENINGS ARE RANDOM; SOME HAPPENING MORE THAN OTHERS AND SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL. IT HAPPENS AT ANY POINT, IN MOTION OR SITTING STILL; CITY, HIGHWAY, TURNING, STRAIGHT; IT DOESN'T MATTER TO IT. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST DAILY AND WILL START AND STOP AT RANDOM TIMES. MOST OF THE TIME IT DOESN'T STOP UNTIL YOU CUT THE CAR OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN SO MANY WAYS. I HAVE VIDEOS THAT SHOWS THIS, BUT CAN'T UPLOAD A VIDEO.

ACCORDING TO TECHS AT DODGE DEALERSHIP BOT FRONT ANTI LOCK BRAKE SENSORS ARE BAD. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVEN ON PAVED ROADS. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 27203 MILES ON IT. LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND GOING OFF FOR A MONTH. IT IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND HOW 2 SENSORS COULD GO BAD AT THE SAME TIME UNLESS THE SENSORS ARE OF POOR QUALITY. THESE SENSORS ARE ORIGINAL SENSORS. SAFETY EQUIPMENT SHOULD NOT BE SUBJECT TO COST SAVINGS. THIS VEHICLE IS WELL WITHIN THE MILEAGE FOR WARRANTY AND ONLY TWO MONTHS OUT OF TIME WARRANTY. HOW DO 2 SENSORS GO BAD AT ONCE? RESEARCHING THESE PROBLEMS ONLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP.

THE BRAKES ON THE COMPASS ARE VERY SENSITIVE. WHILE DRIVING OR FROM A COLD START, APPLYING THE BRAKES AT SLOW SPEEDS WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO LURCH TO AN ALMOST EMERGENCY STOP. I OWN 4 VEHICLES AND NONE OF THE OTHER CARS HAVE BRAKES AS TOUCHY AS THESE. MY FAMILY REFUSES TO DRIVE THE COMPASS BECAUSE OF THE BRAKE ISSUE. THE DEALER TELLS ME THERE IS NO RECALL OR TSB ON THIS ISSUE.

While attempting to do a U-turn on two different occiasions once the U-turn has been completed the car would stop and turn off. There was not power. Would attempt to restart the car and it would not. Needed to get a jump-start for the car to start. One other time when attempting to do a U-turn the car would act as if would stop, in this case did not but took about 2 miles before it would accelerate properly

Auto stop/start will malfunction and show a message saying to cut the car off and start it again. This poses a huge safety issue as it can cause an accident from not starting up and shutting off when it stops. Car also says “please park safely car will shut off soon”. My alternator has been checked and the aux battery and regular battery have been replaced as well so they are unable to figure out why I’m getting this message.

Issues staring the car, dealership makes me buy a new battery and that’s not the problem. Still after spending money on a new battery, it’s a problem. 13.4 v and it still has issues starting. Sometimes it starts and will NOT let me leave park. I am exhausted of these issues and constantly missing work because of this car the whole point in buying a 2017 car was for it to be reliable, and instead I’m having a problem even starting it!!!!

I was traveling northbound on ih35 near exit 329 outside of Waco, Tx travel to Dallas Tx I was in the middle of the highway during rainfall when my jeep completely shut down on me without warning all lights came on radio went black, brake was stiff, steering wheel locked. I had to have my jeep towed $300 later. My vehicle was in park and the vehicle said not in park. Vehicle wouldn’t start up. I was in the 3rd lane of a 4 lane highway when the vehicle stalled and shut off easily could have gotten hit from oncoming traffic. I was on the side of the road for 5 hours not knowing what was wrong with my vehicle. I had a full tank of gas and fluids were A1. I looked up my vin with no recalls being shown. Googled the issue and nothing has been done for anyone that has experienced this scary situation.

While driving at highway speeds, the engine shut off and power steering is disabled. The dashboard says that the car is still on and will not restart the car. This is an EXTREEMLY dangerous situation, and my family is lucky to be alive. The problem had been reproduced by Christian Brother Automotive. They have replaced the camshaft sensor as well as the batteries and updated the firmware of the car. The issue continues to persist, and Christian Brothers will not release the car to me. No the Vehicle has not bee inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representative. No Warning lamps, messages or other symptoms presented themself prior to the problem. After about 20 minutes the car is can be restarted and will operate as normal until it automagically cuts out the next time.

CAR STALLED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS WHILE AT STOP LIGHTS. I WAS STOPPED AT LIGHT AND WHEN I WENT TO MOVE AGAIN THE CAR STALLED-ALL PANEL LIGHTS FLASHED AND CAR WOULD NOT TURN ON AGAIN. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS THE CAR FINALLY STARTED. AFTER THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE I DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO THE NEAREST MIDAS BECAUSE OI WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT ANY FARTHER. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND COULD NOT FIND A DEFINITIVE ANSWER. THE BATTERY WAS FINE.

CAR SHUTS OFF WHEN COMING TO A STOP WHEN THE AUTO OFF/ON IS TURNED OFF. ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY STARTED COMING ON BUT DID NOT AT FIRST. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR AND TRYING TO PULL OUT IT DIES AGAIN SOMETIMES LEAVING YOU IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I GOT STRANDED FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES WHEN IT SHUT OFF. EVENTUALLY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT RESTARTED AND GET HOME WITH IT. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED BUT WHEN TURNING I CAN HEAR A "DING" LIKE A BELL. THERE WAS ALSO A LIGHT THAT CAME ON WHICH LOOKED LIKE A LIGHTENING BOLT. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED AND IT HAS ALWAYS SEEMED LIKE THE IDOL WAS SET A LITTLE TO LOW AS IT DOESN'T REALLY MOVE WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. ALSO, WHEN THE ENGINE WENT OFF THE INSTRUMENT ON THE DASH SEEMED TO THINK THE CAR WAS STILL OPERATIONAL. IT WOULDN'T SHUT OFF LIKE IF YOU CAME HOME AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF.

The throttle body started malfunctioning while driving on the highway. Power was lost and I was unable to accelerate. There were vehicles behind me that had to react quickly in order not to wreck. The ETC warning light did not come on at first but as my vehicle kept sputtering the light would flash on and off very quickly. I lost a great deal of speed trying to get up a hill so I could pull over and get out of traffic. After looking up the light in the manual it says to cycle the ignition and I did that. The vehicle was working ok again for a few minutes and then suddenly lost the ability to accelerate again and would go in and out, sputtering. Again thankfully the vehicles behind me were paying attention and were able to immediately slow down. I have only had the vehicle for 3 months and of course as soon as there is no warranty it starts messing up. A mechanic did confirm the issue and yes it’s available for inspection.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE AND DID NOT WORK AS INTENDED WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PLACE FUEL INTO THE FUEL TANK, THE NOZZLE HAD TO BE RE-POSITIONED IN ORDER TO CONTINUE ADDING FUEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT SINCE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALER THAT WAS NO LONGER IN OPERATION, THEY COULD NO LONGER STAND BY THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,677.

NOZZLE AT FUEL PUMP WAS STUCK INSIDE THE GAS CAP AND TANK. BOTH FUEL STATION STAFF & I ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE NOZZLE FROM THE GAS TANK BUT IT WOULD NOT COME OUT. WE HAD TO USE A PIECE OF METAL TO PRY OUT THE NOZZLE. THERE IS A METAL NOTCH ON THE GAS NOZZLE THAT ONCE INSERTED BECOMES LODGED ON THE INNER LIP OF THE GAS CAP AND YOU CANNOT REMOVE IT. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THE GAS TANK DESIGN AND COULD CAUSE SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY IF THE GAS NOZZLE CONTINUES TO PUMP GAS AND THE TANK IS FULL.

When driving my Jeep Compass, there have been numerous instances of the vehicle stalling out when slowing down or stopping at a light/stop sign. This has happened on busy roads, at busy intersections, and on country roads. When it happens, I cannot control any aspect of the vehicle; the breaks no longer work, I cannot turn the wheel, I cannot change gears or easily put it into park, and it takes multiple attempts to turn it off and back on. There are no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the incidents occurring, which started on 4/22/2025. Today, 4/29/2025, I checked my oil level and found that it was extremely low, although it should not be and I'm not yet due for an oil change. The Jeep Compass is going through more oil than usual and there is no message or notification showing at any time. I believe that this is the cause of the issues, and makes it extremely unsafe for myself, my passenger and other drivers/vehicles as it has happened on the highway and at intersections, where it could easily result in a serious accident.

MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2017 JEEP COMPASS FROM PAPAS DODGE IN NEW BRITAIN, CT. THE STOP/START FEATURE ON THIS VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY FAILS. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND THE ENGINE STALLS CAUSING LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKES. THE DEALER APPARENTLY CAN NOT EMULATE THE PROBLEM BUT THEY DO NOT DRIVE IT ON A DAILY BASIS. I CAN FEEL THE CAR START TO DECELERATE WHEN IT SEND THIS MESSAGE. FIRST, I SHIFT THE CAR INTO THE DESIRED GEAR (P), THEN BRAKE LOCKS ITSELF SO THAT I AM UNABLE TO USE TO PUSH-TO-START FEATURE AND PLACE THE CAR BACK INTO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME 4X/MORE. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT ON A CITY EXPRESSWAY AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE STOP/START SYSTEM FAILED TO RESTART THE ENGINE. IT ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE CAR. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART THE CAR WITH TRAFFIC FLYING BY ME I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DISENGAGE THE PARKING BREAK. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AND MY DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY WILL NOT FIX IT BECAUSE THEY ARE WAITING TO RECEIVE A STOP START BATTERY FROM MOPAR. IT HAS BEEN ON BACKORDER FOR A MONTH AND THEY DONT HAVE A DATE WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED. THIS KEEPS HAPPENING AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK AND THEY DO NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE START/STOP SYSTEM MADE TO CONSERVE GAS. THE SYSTEM SHOULD NOT LEAVE YOU STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY ROADS WHERE SOMEONE CAN SLAM INTO THE BACK OF YOU.

Was towed into shop on 4/13/20 jeep would not start, the dealer said it was the battery. Took to shop on 3/9/21 the jeep was stalling out at red light and would not start back up, it took several times to start on a busy highway! Dealer said oil was low and did a consumption test! On 8/17/21 the jeep stalled at a busy light and would not start back up, I had to call 911 to get a officer behind me so I wouldn’t get hit, I had to tow the jeep back to the dealer . The dealer said the oil was low again . On 10/4/21 the jeep stalled out again at the light and would not start it took me over 5 minutes to get it stated! The only light that came up was the transmission need service now, the dealer look at the jeep and said it was both batteries gone bad! My concern is it keeps stalling out at lights in drive and will not start back up! Which puts myself at risk of being hit from behind! Another thing is when this happens there is no warning lights coming up to let me know what is wrong!

MY 2017 JEEP COMPASS HAS BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH STEERING/PULLING. THE LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT WERE FOUND TO BE EXCESSIVELY LOOSE/WORN AT 43,000 MILES. THE BALL JOINT WAS PREVIOUS REPLACED PRIOR TO 24,000 MILES. THIS PART HAS NOW BEEN RECALLED ON 2018 MODELS BUT NOT 2017. THE NEED FOR TWO SUCH REPLACEMENTS ON A CAR WITH 43,000 MILES IS TERRIFYING AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.

2017 Jeep Compass has been having an issue with either the start-stop mechanism or the brakes. I was at a single lane red light. The engine went through the start-stop sequence, but when the light turned green and I released the brake, the car struggled to come to life at all and began to stall out. I had to wiggle the steering wheel and shift the gears to multiple places before returning it to drive and thankfully being able to keep moving. I turned the feature off in my car to prevent it from having any further issues while I just made it to work and back home. When I got to the next light and stepped on the brake, I heard a sound and when I looked down and noticed that the parking brake had engaged on its own. Fortunately I was near the dealership, but I was terrified that I was not going to make it there even. After keeping it over night and test driving it, they found nothing wrong with the vehicle at all. This is not the first time this has happened and we took the Jeep to the dealership only to be told that there was nothing they could find wrong with it. I have found several other complaints by other people saying the same exact thing. They are having this issue and when they take it to their service center, they are being told it is fine. This is not fine, and the fact that there has been absolutely nothing done about this simply because there hasn't been any evidence is ridiculous. This is truly unacceptable and I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. Period. There is something seriously wrong with it that no mechanics seem to be able to pinpoint whatever the issue is.

THE START/STOP FEATURE CAUSES MY CAR TO STALL. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD AUTOMATICALLY GET ENABLED AND I BASICALLY CAN'T GET MY CAR TO MOVE UNTIL I PUT MY CAR IN PARK, DISABLE TO THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND TURN MY CAR ON AND OFF. THIS FEATURE IS SUCH AN INCONVENIENCE DUE TO THE CHANCE OF STALLING AT EVERY STOP LIGHT/INTERSECTION. THIS INCREASES THE CHANCES OF GETTING REAR ENDED. IN ADDITION, TODAY MY FRONT COLLISION WARNING + BRAKES GOT ACTIVATED WHILE I WAS IN MOTION WITHOUT ANYTHING IN FRONT OF ME. AGAIN, ANOTHER POSSIBILITY OF GETTING REAR ENDED.

02/05/2018......BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NOVEMBER 2017. TWICE ALREADY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THROUGH RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC THE DASH DISPLAY STARTED FLASHING ERRATICALLY AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER, A TOTAL SHUT DOWN. NO RADIO, NO DASH, NO BRAKES, NO STEERING. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS MOVING EACH TIME. AFTER APPROXIMATELY A CITY BLOCK THE CAR RESTARTS. DEALER TESTED THE CAR AND COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER DRIVING IT 20 MILES WITH A COMPUTER CONNECTED. I PURCHASED MY 2017 JEEP COMPASS TRAIL HAWK BRAND NEW, MY PRODUCTION DATE IS APRIL 26, 2017. I HAVE HAD ENDLESS ISSUES W/ THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE OWNED OTHER JEEPS AND NEVER HAD THESE ISSUES. IT STARTED W/ MY RADIO MAKING THIS CRAZY INDESCRIBABLY LOUD SOUND ALONG W/ FREEZING THE SCREEN. TURNING OFF THE RADIO WOULD NOT STOP THE SOUND, NOT EVEN TURNING OFF THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WOULD STOP THE SOUND. SERV DEPT COULD NEVER REPLICATE, I BROUGHT IT IN ONE TIME WHEN RADIO WAS ON A NON-EXISTENT PHONE CALL AND ACTING UP. THEY TOOK MY CAR AND TURNED IT OFF, NEXT DAY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T REPLICATE. I DEMANDED THAT THE GIRL WHO TOOK MY CAR IN AND SAW WHAT WAS GOING ON SPEAK WITH THE TECH TO EXPLAIN WHAT SHE SAW. THEY AGREED TO ORDER ME A NEW RADIO. ADDITIONALLY I BEGAN HAVING ISSUES W/ JEEP THROWING ON RANDOM DASH INDICATOR LIGHTS AND NOT STARTING. TCM PIN WAS SPREADING AND CAUSING INDICATORS B BATTERY CONTROLLING STOP/START TESTED BAD. THEY REPLACED. I HAD ALREADY REPLACED MY A BATTERY A DAY OR SO BEFORE. DAMAGE WIRES FOUND AT FUSE BOX (THEY BLAMED ME) I HAVE MADE ZERO MODS TO CAR OR EVEN LIFTED THE HOOD MYSELF. BCM REPLACED. I HAD ISSUE W/ ENGINE CUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING IN ROAD & PULLING EBRAKE BEFORE I'M DUE FOR OIL CHANGE. HAD OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE AND THEY SAY IT'S FINE, THIS IS BECAUSE CHRYSLER MAKES UP THE CONSUMPTION STANDARD. SO YOU WILL ALWAYS BE "FINE." THIS IT TO PREVENT YOU FROM GETTING TO COMPRESSION TEST. I GO IN MANY TIMES FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. EVENTUALLY, I DEMAND WITH FCA THAT THEY ALLOW COMPRESSION TEST AND REPLACE MY ENGINE WHEN THEY DISCOVER IT'S DUE TO OIL CONSUMP. TECH REPORTS OIL LOW, SPRK PLUG CYL 3 IS OIL FOULED, COMPRESS. TEST DONE AIR IS FELT FROM OIL FILL, BORE SCOPE OF CYL 3 WALLS ARE SCORED AND HAVE OIL ON THEM. FCA APPROVES NEW ENGINE FOR ME. AFTER NEW ENG. I DRIVE 13 MI ENG IS OVER HEATING. T-STAT CLAMP REPLACED. DO NOT GIVE UP & DOCUMENT WELL!

I BOUGHT MY CAR IN 2018 BRAND NEW WITH LESS THAN 10 MILES. IN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS, IT REQUIRED A BRAND NEW RADIO SYSTEM AND REAR CAMERA REPLACEMENT. IN SOME MONTHS FOLLOWING THAT, I HAVE HAD MY CAR STOP ON ME WHILE DRIVING, APPROXIMATELY 4-5 TIMES WITH ONLY EXCUSES AS TO WHY THE CAR WOULD UNSAFELY DO THIS. FIRST TIME WAS AN UPDATE THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. SECOND TIME WAS THE KEYFOB BATTERY BUT ACCUSED IT OF BEING LACK OF OIL CHANGES (I DON'T NEED TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CHANGES). NEXT, WAS NO EXPLANATION AT ALL. LAST WAS YESTERDAY WHEN IT DIED TWICE IN ONE DAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THEY CALLED TO LET ME KNOW THAT IT PROBABLY IS BECAUSE MY OIL IS 3/4 WAY DEPLETED EVEN THOUGH I HAD AN OIL CHANGE DONE LESS THAN 3K MILES AGO. DETERMINED CAUSE TO BE FAULTY BODY CONTROL MODULE AND INTERNAL FAILURE. THIS WAS ALLEGEDLY REPLACED, DESPITE BEING ORIGINALLY TOLD OF A RECALL AND BACKORDER OF PARTS THAT COULD LAST 6 MONTHS. CAR OUT OF SERVICE FOR 10 DAYS. PROBLEMS BEGAN AGAIN WITHIN A WEEK OF VEHICLES RETURN. IT WAS TAKEN TO LANDERS CDJR FOR SERVICE ON AUGUST 9, 2018. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM DEALER. THEN THE BACKUP CAMERAS BEGAN FREEZING AND WOULD STAY WHILE CAR IN MOTION. WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING. Wiring compartment under the front wheel well is completely eroded away which caused my vehicle to completely stop driving and turning on. When looking at the whole wiring harness under the wheel well, wires were completely falling out of where they connect to the fuses because of how bad the erosion is. I was driving my car with my 4 year old child in it on the highway and it started to jerk, lights started flashing on the dash, including the airbag light, and then all at once shut completely off, lights went out, would not start back up at all. I had it towed back to my house and now it will not start up at all. I replaced a bunch of parts to it and then that is when I discovered that it was the whole wiring box under the wheel well that had corrode a bunch of wires. When hooking up the battery to try and jump it to. see if it would start, the wires that were loose started sparking and almost caught fire.

Let me start by saying I am an electrician. I have had several electrical problems with this car, most recently my Headlights come on intermittently. I start my car and turn the headlight switch on, sometimes it takes up to 20 minutes for them to kick on. I have checked the batteries, the Fuses, the grounding connections, and the switch. This is very dangerous, and I have already spent money trying to fix the problem to no avail. I travel a lot and It's frightening when it gets dark and I have to switch the headlights on while driving. I have no way of knowing if they are working while I'm on the road. I see several other people complaing of the same exact problem, why hasn't a recall been issued?

This car is having tons of electrical issues. From wire malfunctions in the radio to the ORC module failing. All lights for air bags, abs breaks, check engine, and everything electrical are beeping and flashing. The air bags will not work if I get in an accident and I've read they can deploy at any time while I am driving! If you look online, Chrysler/Jeep has LOTS of ORC failure issues and have even recalled for this for it before. This issue should be covered for until at least 100k miles. Some people have had this ORC module fail at as little as 18k miles. I still have 2 warranties on this car and not one covers it. Chrysler/Jeep should be responsible for fixing this. It is a risk to to peoples lives. I'm not understanding why this is still an issue in 2023 with no penalties to Chrysler/Jeep when it's been happening for over 10 years!? I'm hoping writing this will add one more person to the lost of issues Jeep has so something can be done about it.

While driving down the road, all doors closed, and with the lift gate closed the Jeep Compass' Emergency Parking Break is engaging at random. Shortly before it does this the vehicle loses ability to accelerate. A quick google search has yielded many hits on many Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee owners from years ranging from 2014 to 2020 having the same problem and Jeep refusing to acknowledge or fix the issue. This is a serious safety concern that is going to get people killed.

When slowed at an interesection the car would notaccelerate forward when light turned green despite being in drive. Dash showed parking brake engaged even though it was not. The D on the gear shift was flashing. I had to turn the car off twice and restart while in the middle of an intersection! This is the SECOND time this has happened while driving. I took it to the dealer first time and they could not find anything wrong.

Question 1: The Auto stop start system went out last October or November and I couldn't get it into the shop with in the warranty because they wouldn't schedule it. After that in February my battery started dying and I had to replace my battery 5 times now. That's when starting in August all of my instrument cluster/panel would light up and it would start my lights on the inside of the car to flash, radio to start cracking and the doors locks switching back and forth. It then will start flashing the ABS warning. The ABS warning wont stay on but it will ding and flash about every 2-5 minutes. Then it will show the pull over safely vehicle ill shut off soon and begin locking up my front driver side tire and rip you into on coming traffic. Then it will start going into limp mode and then revving up on its own. Question 2: The tire being squeezed by the brake will rip you around and start turning the whole car into the other lane/ oncoming traffic. It will also start shutting down. Question 3: A mechanic at O'Reilly's ran system diagnostic and then looked it up and saw that Campaign NO: 17V740000 and Campaign NO: 17V301000. Question 4: No. Question 5: The only issue started in October/ November of 2021 and that was the start stop system went out and the dealership wouldn't see me and told us not to worry because it wasn't important. Then the battery dying every couple of weeks and constantly needing jumped or replaced. Then came the the ABS warning and then the whole car shutting down and locking the drivers wheel up in August.

The check engine light came on and it would jerk a little goin up hill well got a coder and it said o2 so I changed all the spark plugs and o2 and it still is on now the thunder bolt light flashes I loose power and the yellow skid mark comes on I have to turn car off let it reprogram like 10 min and it acts ok for a few min now it's so bad it won't even go 10 miles . I'm goin to have the throttle and sensor changed hopefully that fixes it.

I AM STILL IN SHOCK AND STILL QUITE SHAKEN UP ON THE MORNING OF TUES., 9/25/2018, WHEN AS USUAL GOT OUT OF MY HOME INTO MY JEEP TO GO TO WORK A FEW MINUTES BEFORE 6 AM. I CAREFULLY AT THE ENTRANCE AND EXIT OF MY COMMUNITY, I WAIT FOR ONGOING TRAFFIC TO BE FAR ENOUGH FOR ME TO DRIVE TOWARDS THE BLVD. AS MY JEEP STARTED TOWARDS PART OF THE BOULEVARD ALL OF SUDDEN, THE ENGINE STOPPED AS I DID NOT PRESS THE BYPASS BUTTON SO THE JEEP WENT INTO SLEEP MODE, WHEN I PRESSED THE BUTTON, IT READ," PUT VEHICLE ON PARKING MODE TO RESTART". MY HEART ALMOST CAME OUT OF MY MOUTH BECAUSE IF THERE WAS TRAFFIC ON MY LEFT I DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED BY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC THAT WAS HEADING TOWARDS ME FROM THE LEFT, I PLACED THE JEEP IN PARK, I THEN PLACED IT ON DRIVE AND HEADED TO THE DIVIDER OF THE INTERSECTION. IN TEARS, I TURNED BACK HOME AND LEFT THE JEEP IN THE DRIVEWAY. I CALLED GREENWAY IMMEDIATELY TO REPORT THE INCIDENT. I HAVE A COPY OF MY CONVERSATION WITH THE GREENWAY DODGE, CHYRSLER, JEEP AND RAM SERVICE OPERATOR ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2018,. A SERVICE APPT WAS SET FOR 9/29/18,AT GREENWAY. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE TOLD BY SERVICE TECH THAT THERE WAS NO BYPASS INTERCEPTION TO REMOVE THE FEATURE FROM THE JEEP SHUTTING DOWN THE ENGINEWHILE IN A DRIVE MODE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS JEEP & THAT I WOULD NOT GO THROUGH WHAT I WENT THROUGH ON THAT MORNING. I AM ALIVE TO TELL EVERYONE OF WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND NOT GOT KILLED DUE TO THE SPECIAL FEATURE THIS JEEP HAS TO CONSERVE GAS. THE ENGINE JUST SHUTS DOWN WHILE IN A DRIVE MODE. WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO BYPASS INTERCEPTION TO REMOVE THE FEATURE FROM THE VEHICLE GOING INTO A PAUSE MODE WHEN WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE, OR WHEN THERE IS TRAFFIC JEEP COMPLETELY STALES WHEN IN DRIVE MODE. I AM THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND WISH TO SURRENDER MY JEEP BECAUSE I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CLICKING SOUND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVESHAFT DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE AND A CRASH OCCURRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WOULD NOT BE PERFORMED FOR ANOTHER 24-48 HOURS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MANHATTAN JEEP SERVICE CENTER (LOCATED AT 629 W 54TH ST, NEW YORK, NY 10019, (877) 225-8709) WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V301000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,082.

2017 JEEP COMPASS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKES LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED VARIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES INCLUDING THE BACK UP CAMERA REMAINING ON AT ALL TIMES, THE LOCKS WERE INOPERABLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT OPERATE WHILE THE KEY FOB IN THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WOULD START AND SHUT OFF WITH THE RADIO STILL ON AND CAN SHIFT, BUT NOT MOVE, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD RANDOMLY NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE KEY FOB. STOP SYSTEM THAT STOPS THE CAR AT RED LIGHTS FOR FUEL ECONOM. MY CAR WOULD ALL OF THE SUDDEN ACCELERATE WITHOUT MY PUTTING FOOT ON GAS PEDDLE. TOOK TO DEALER. HE SAID THERE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH IT, AND WIPED THE MEMORY AND DID AN UPDATE . MY CONCERN IS THAT WHEN IT DID THIS I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF ME. IT ACCELERATED SO FAST I ALMOST LOST CONTROL TOO. WHEN THEY TEST DROVE IT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. BUT WHEN THEY HOOKED IT UP TO FIND ANY ERROR CODES THEY FOUND 2. THAT'S WHEN THEY DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT THEY SAID IT WAS A KNIWN ISSUE YET NO RECALL TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR THE UPDATED FIX. HADVI NOT BEEN TRAINED FOR SITUATIONS LIKE THIS I OR SOMEONE ELSE COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED.THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION GOING DOWN HILL I WAS RIDING THE BRAKE BECAUSE OF THE HILL. WHEN I HAD LET UP OFF THE BRAKE SLIGHTLY THAT'S WHEN IT ACCELERATED SO FAST I ALMOST LOST CONTROL.

FRONT END CROSSMEMBER OR ALSO CALLED SUBFRAME HAS ROTTED AND RUSTED CLEAR THROUGH AT JUST OVER 10 YEARS OLD I WAS INFORMED BY CAR MECHANIC. JEEP ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE WITH THE BAD SUBFRAMES AND PUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON IT. THAT ONLY LASTED 10 YEARS. SO CAR IS NOW UNSAFE FOR THE ROAD AND REPAIRS ARE MORE THEN CARS WORTH. HAVE READ 1,000S OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR SAME ISSUE WITH 2007 AND 2008 COMPASSES.

ON 1/12/18 MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START SO I CALLED FOR A TOW TO TAKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AUTO CENTER THEY SAID IT WAS A WIRE THAT WAS BURNT THAT CONNECTS TO THE STEERING. RECEIVED IT A COUPLE DAYS LATER THE NEXT DAY IT WOULD NOT START AFTER 5 HOURS OF WAITING ON A TOW IT STARTED UP AND I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN THEY CALLED THE MODULE WAS GOING OUT IT GOT REPLACED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR BACK. THE NEXT DAY THE CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN I KEPT PLAYING WITH THE IGNITION BACK AND FORTH TO SEE WOULD IT START NOTHING. AGAIN REQUESTED A TOW NONE CAME. BY THE TIME I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK I TRIED AGAIN IT STARTED I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY KEPT IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND NOTHING WAS COMING UP ON THE MACHINE. I DROVE IT FOR A WEEK OR SO AND ON 2/6/18 THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START UP AFTER I HAD JUST GOT OUT OF IT FROM RUNNING ERRANDS AND A FEW OCCASIONS I FELT THE STEERING WHEEL TIGHTEN AND WAS HARD TO TURN. THOSE TIMES I WAS PARKED ON PARKED ON THE STREETS BUT ON FEB 6 I PARKED A FEW INCHES BY THE FIRE HYDRANT RAN INTO THE HOUSE TO TAKE THE GROCERIES AND COME OUT TO MOVE THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START. ON ALL OCCASIONS IT WAS NOT ANY LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD AND EVERYTHING WAS WORK EXCEPT THE IGNITION WOULD NOT START. *BF *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-25 MPH, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ERRONEOUSLY SELF ACTIVATED ABRUPTLY AND STOPPED THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE INSTRUMENT GAUGES TO STOP OPERATING AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTING REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400.

DASH AND UCONNECT SCREEN WILL NOT PROPERLY DIM IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS. MOST NOTABLY, IF YOU TURN ON THE CAR DURING THE DAY AND DRIVE INTO THE NIGHT, THE HEADLIGHTS WILL TURN ON, BUT THE DASH AND SCREEN WILL NOT DIM. IF YOU TURN ON THE CAR WHILE IT IS DARK OUT, DASH WILL PROPERLY DIM. THERE SEEM TO BE ADDITIONAL SCENARIOS THAT INTERFERE WITH DASH DIMMING, SUCH AS OPENING A DOOR WHILE CAR IS ON AND TURNING ON OVERHEAD LIGHTING. DIFFICULT TO FOCUS ON ROAD AHEAD WHEN BRIGHT DASH AND SCREEN IS GLARING IN YOUR FACE.

JEEP IS BRAND NEW, HAS 1700 MILES ON IT. OUT DOOR TEMPERATURE READS 3 DASHES. HAZARD LIGHTS INOPERABLE. ODOMETER FLASHING. PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY FOR 30 SECONDS, THAN COMES RIGHT BACK. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, BLOWER FAN AND BLEND DOOR CODES. THIS HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. REGARDLESS OF WHEN AND WHERE. ODOR OF BURNING ELECTRICAL/WIRES CAME OUT OF VENTS.
