LANE DEPARTURE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
2 complaints
Vehicle causes alerts that the indicated functions are not available or need servicing. Vehicle has been serviced at Jeep dealer for repair but continues to emit false messages that the stated safety features are not available. This is a safety hazard due to the alerts causing distraction while driving. Pop up on screen with a beep.

When driving the car will randomly active automatic emergency braking, which is especially dangerous on the highway. Lane departure has pulled me to the wrong lane, or will randomly become unavailable. Blind spot monitoring occasionally doesn’t work, or will also randomly become unavailable. Dealership made aware but unable to recreate circumstances in which they become unavailable or faulty. There are never prior warnings, this will happen whenever. There are multiple other ‘24 Jeep Compass owners who report the same issue online.

Upon engine start up at the home of my S/O, [XX], the warning "Service Automatic Throttle Control" appeared on the dashboard. Placing the vehicle into gear first in reverse, then in drive resulted in sudden acceleration and erratic lurching. I had no brakes whatsoever. At one point my S/O nearly hit on the dash per signed affidavit. I had to place my 2024 Jeep Compass in Park in order to stop and then slowly maneuver it into a safe parking spot before having it towed to Golling Jeep Ram Dodge in Bloomfield Hills, MI. Tech diagnosis two days later showed Error Code 2299. But the vehicle started and operated as normal. Nothing wrong. After a test drive the next day to be sure, they had me get my vehicle. Although my door sticker gives a manufacturing date of 6/2024, I call your attention to NHTSA Recall 24V-240 over throttle control system software. Strangely enough, this exact same malfunction occurred at the same address on [XXX], almost a year earlier. It was towed at that time to Suburban JDR in Farmington, MI where, again, my vehicle showed the same 2299 Code but otherwise, performing well, advising me to come get my Compass. So, both times my 2024 Jeep Compass took control away from me, this time with no brakes, almost injuring my S/O. Fortunately, both incidents happened in her gated community with no pedestrians or traffic. In addition to this intermittent, dangerous malfunction, I owned both a 2018 and a 2021 Compass one of which, like the Dodge Ram recall, had a horribly malfunctioning turn signal. The VINs: 2018 [XXX] ; and the 2021 #[XXX]. This is real and dangerous. That I can attest to. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
1 complaint
The electrical system in my 2025 Jeep Compass repeatedly displays multiple warning messages, including issues with the engine, AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking), and “Start/Stop Disabled.” Recently, the airbag warning light has begun turning on and off daily, advising to “get service.” When I bring the vehicle to the dealership, the error codes are no longer present, and the technicians say they cannot duplicate the issues. However, while driving recently—with no other vehicles nearby—the AEB system suddenly activated, causing unexpected emergency braking. This is extremely dangerous and could easily lead to an accident. I’m very concerned that the safety features intended to protect me could instead cause harm. The airbag warning appearing and disappearing daily raises fears that the airbags could deploy unexpectedly, especially since service technicians cannot reproduce the warnings. In addition, the vehicle has been in the shop three times this year for what sounds like an exhaust leak, but no issue has been found. These repeated electrical and safety malfunctions indicate a serious defect, and I strongly believe this vehicle should be reviewed for a recall.

When I go to buckle or unbuckle my seat belt it takes a lot of effort and time! I have to use my middle finger just to reach down to the button! This is very annoying and also would be unsafe in a vehicle accident if you needed to exit in a hurry!

The forward crash detection detects objects on the side of the road that do not present a hazard. The vehicle then automatically, abruptly brakes causing temporary loss of control in the vehicle. In one instance the system detected the barriers in a construction zone causing me to almost lose control of the vehicle and crash into the barrier. The problem has been confirmed by both the dealership as well as Jeep. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacture, police, or insurance. There are no lights or indicators of the issue.

Active lane management jerked me off the road disabled my forward and rear crash detection sensor and my automatic high beams were disabled all simultaneously without warning or any sign scared me and my family since then my forward crash section is permanently on and will not go off I have no active lane management it disabled and said service and for the past 2 weeks has been nothing but electrical failure after electrical failure my dealership says there nothing they can do except clear the codes and reboot the system and see if that helps (we did that it didn't work either) so I feel like I'm paying for something that has only lasted me 17,000 miles and is about to quit because the computer in it or something is causing my jeep to be unsafe

the accident occurred on [XXX] in the city of Visalia, Ca. I’m not sure what time it was happened and any other details because I’m not the person involved in the accident but I bought the car from a dealership located in Corona, Ca on [XXX]. They never mentioned that the car was involved in a collision or if it had an accident reports. Even brought a Vehicle History report with the contact details. Then the first day when I bought it the engine light turns on and on the dashboard said “transmission service” so I tried to return it to them but they said “isn’t possible” so they took the car to supposedly fix it but after one day that they gave me the car back the engine light turns on again, so I had to investigate by myself and I found that the car was on a collision and it was registered as a rental vehicle in another state and after the accident it was put on sale by an auto auction. 1 complaint
A few weeks are I bought the car, it started having sensor issues. It would tell me that my brake lights are out, my lane assist is not available, my turn signals are not available, etc. After spending weeks at the mechanics, the dealership gave me the car back and said that everything was fine. A week later, all of the sensors started messing up again one of the sensors that was messing up was the auto brake system. As I was driving on the highway at 75 mph, the car thought that I was about to hit another car. There were no cars around to activate this auto braking system, but the car slammed on the brakes in the middle of the highway. It spent another few weeks with the dealership mechanics and is now having the same issues.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
1 complaint
On [XXX], a rental vehicle issued by Enterprise was stopped due to an expired North Carolina license plate [XXX] ) and a defective taillight. The expired plate was physically affixed to the Jeep Compass at the time of rental, yet Enterprise’s rental receipt showed a different plate number [XXX] ). This discrepancy was never disclosed before the stop and was repeatedly denied by Enterprise staff for months. Multiple Enterprise representatives—including the branch manager where the vehicle was rented—insisted the Jeep had “only ever” had the [XXX] plate in their system, despite the North Carolina plate being listed on the signed rental agreement and cited by law enforcement. Later, Enterprise claimed the vehicle was re-registered in another state after impound, which altered internal records. This retroactive change created a misleading paper trail that misrepresented the actual tag on the vehicle during the rental period. The expired plate and defective taillight directly triggered a law-enforcement stop, exposing the authorized driver to legal risk, arrest, and vehicle seizure. This unsafe condition should have been identified and corrected before releasing the vehicle, per standard fleet-safety procedures. After impound, personal property left in the vehicle—including electronics—was denied by Enterprise staff as ever existing, despite multiple third-party witnesses confirming its presence. One electronic item was later tracked via GPS to a private residence unrelated to any Enterprise location, after which it was abruptly “found.” Other property remains missing. failure to ensure vehicle roadworthiness, improper record-keeping that concealed the true plate assignment, and mishandling of customer property after impound. Electrical system is astoundingly horrible in these Jeep Compasses. When steering wheel is turned to make a turned or when it is raining, the dashboard lights up with error messages stating, front collision unavailable, auto high beam unavailable, Auto Emergency Braking Limited Functionality, blind spot alert unavailable all requiring service. This is not the first Jeep Compass this has happened too, it also happened with my previous Compass - which I took it in for service more than 11 times for these same issues.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Starting at 300 miles, the vehicle displayed a warning message that said Automatic emergency braking system unavailable service required. The Jeep dealer in Austin, Minnesota inspected this vehicle and gave us paperwork saying there is no fix available for this safety system and Stelantis engineers are aware of complaints and investigating. This fault/error shuts off this safety feature which puts the driver and occupants in danger of injury and or death when this automatic braking system is needed and not working. A constant warning light is displayed. This has been ongoing since March of this year. Please force a recall and or fix of this vehicle. An online search shows this is a common issue on Jeep Compass vehicles since the 2023 model year. This vehicle has one other issue where the electronic parking brake is randomly turning on by itself with no driver input.

we purchased the car in Jan of 24 (lease) - for my 16 year old. wanted a SAFE car that was reliable. We had issues since the start - the interior goes black - nothing inside the car works but it still drives. No blinkers, no back up camera, not heat, no radio, no lights - nothing - it has been in the shop 6 times. Well over 30 days and nothing has fixed the same problem. Jeep has not worked with us on a solution. AWFUL customer service. we have asked for the lemon law buy back - no follow up or explanation. Looking for ANY help we can get. This car has been awful/ this has been happening the whole time - but most recent was when we brought it in on 4/4 - and still do not have the car back.

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Compass. The contact stated while reversing at nighttime, the rearview camera displayed a dark image of the space that the vehicle was reversing into, reducing the driver’s ability to see the roadway. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to another dealer for a second opinion, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was operating like other similar vehicles. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was operating as designed. The contact stated that the failure persisted while reversing, and the rearview camera image was not bright enough while reversing at night. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A case was filed with the manufacturer, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 5,300.

Initially, the dash light would not go off once the door was closed. It killed the battery therefore had to take it to dealership and leave it, was told it was the auxiliary battery that was causing this. Batteries were charged but not replaced. The next incident was with fog lights. Carrying it to dealership over 6 times to find out from last dealership that the feature on the car was which was not explained when purchased or none of the mechanics could explain. Next i found out that the 3rd brake light was not working. Carried it to dealership only to learn that the wires had been spliced and it did not come from the manufacturer like this. Carried it back to dealership where it was purchased , they installed supposedly safety pulse light which was not working. The mechanics installed a new one which still didn't work. Eventually could not get it to work but got the 3rd brake like to work without the pulse. This was supposed to be a safety feature that the dealership say they put on all of their cars , question was asked if other 2024 jeeps had issues or was it just mine. The answer was that it doesn't work on all cars. My issue is if dealership installed it should have been corrected before it was sold and also sales people that don't know the details of the car and mechanics likewise. I have a little over 7700 miles on this car and issue started around 2400 miles

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while in stop and go traffic, with the A/C activated, the contact smelled a strong odor in the cabin of the vehicle. The contact then observed smoke coming from the passenger’s side of the engine compartment under the hood. The vehicle was steered off the highway and was inspected. The contact became aware of condensation all over the top of the engine and under the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission cooler needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred several weeks later. The transmission cooler, heater, and compressor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 6,448.

On Thursday October 3rd I was driving in stop and go city traffic. After accelerating to leave from a light my jeep died in the middle of the intersection. Total loss of power and slammed to a stop almost causing the person behind me to hit me. It started I drove it back to work. Later that day I left work and stopped to get gas. Turned it off, pumped my gas, went to go turn it back on and it wouldn't start. Just made an engine cranking sound. I hit the button a couple more times and it slowly cranked and started but it was sputtering and the dash and infotainment screen were very dimly lit. When I put it in drive it had no power, like it was in limp mode. I couldn't go past 20mph. My work was only around the corner so I drove it there and had it towed the next day to my closest Chrysler dealership. I have yet to hear back from them. My vehicle has 1,500 miles on it... Before this incident, I had lost power to my infotainment screen numerous times and while driving I've felt a jerking while accelerating. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.
