Car not going out of park. Seems to be stuck in gear. Code P1DAB

Transmission will "buck" unexpectedly when slowing to a stop. This causes a violent and unpredictable lunge forward. This has been reported and inspected by the dealer multiple times with the assessment just being "that's an 8 speed transmission for ya". There is no warning of it happening, nor is an event stored within the vehicle ECU.

The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that a handheld diagnostic machine was used to retrieve DTC: P1DB8 and P1DB8-00. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 155,347.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the transmission failed to shift into park(P). The “Service Transmission, Set Park Brake, and Prevent Rolling” messages were displayed. Several unknown warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel immediately afterwards and then turned off independently. The parking brake symbol remained flashing with an audible alarm beeping. The contact turned off the vehicle, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the valve body had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure occurred approximately 1 year later. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who had diagnosed the vehicle with valve body failure. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V043000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included. The dealer had been attempting to have the manufacturer add the VIN to the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Engine oil filter housing cracked and there was excessive and continuous oil leakage. Research on the internet shows this is a common problem as the part is made of plastic and destroyed by heat. If not fixed, the car could overheat, the engine fail, and the car stop during use at high speeds. Problem was inspected, confirmed, and part replaced with metal part at Rad Rides in Buffalo WY. Problem first appeared as oil leaking under car about 2 weeks ago.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while the vehicle was idling, or at a complete stop, the vehicle was shuddering with the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact used a code reader and retrieved a DTC for a stuck intake valve in the high lift position. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to a local dealer to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.

During a routine trip, in a suburban area, on a cold winter morning my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo was running rough and losing power as soon as I started it. The engine light came on and we immediately stopped driving and had it towed for repairs. The Dealer diagnosed the problem by observing that the front of the engine rose up when the gas pedal was pressed, and the engine was loose. We are concerned this failure could have resulted in engine falling out of the car, which could have caused a catastrophic accident, fire from the loss of fuel, and loss of life or serious injuries. The engine mounts failed at about 76,101 miles. This did not result in an accident or damage This problem was diagnosed and repaired by the Stafford, Chrysler Jeep Rambler Dealer (the Dealer) at 121A West Stafford Rd, Stafford Springs CT who can be reached at 860-684-8877. The Dealer stated that it was unusual for the engine mounts to fail at such a low mileage unless there was an accident or heavy usage (we do not know of any such issues). We bought the car the certified used from Bolles Motors (the previous owner of the Dealer) with 46,370 miles. The Carfax showed regular maintenance and did show any accidents. We drove only the car 29,731 miles before the engine mounts failed. A copy of the receipt and photos of the engine mounts are attached.

2016 Grand Cherokee with 3.0L Ecodiesel and the engine failed at 43K mileage. The engine failed while driving on the highway. This could cause an accident and serious safety concern. Ecodiesel had similar failures for different drivers. The engine fails without any previous warnings. The dealer found big metal shaving in the oil pan, possibly due to the rod bearing failure. Currently the engine needs to be replaced

Rocker arm failure on 3.6 liter engine. This issue had been reported by many Grand Cherokee owners over multiple years. This is an expensive fix greater than 1000 dollars and should be supported or recalled due to manufacturer error.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the blower motor fuse was burned, melted, and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred several times. The mechanic replaced the blower motor fuse several times; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at 30 MPH, he smelled smoke emanating from the rear passenger seat. After a visual inspection, he observed a fire. The local fire department was able to extinguish the fire. A police and fire report was filed, but no injuries were reported. The contact stated he sustained a nondescript fire-related injury to his right leg but did not seek medical attention. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined an electrical software system wiring fault. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Car shut down without warning while i was driving in traffic. Car locked it shelf out and was not drivable. Had to have it towed to local Jeep Dealer. They looked into it and determined that the alternator failed and fried a fuse block as well. the Repair cost just over $1500. There is a recall out for Grand Cherokee's from 2012 to 2014 for the same issue. P60 / NHTsA 14v634. I know my jeep is a 2016 but i feel like this is the same issue.

Passive head rest deployed while sitting idle in drivers seat! Slamming into the side of my head! Causing a mild concussion! Took it into dealership and they replaced saying it didn’t have a recall! That only replaced if it failed! We wanted to have passenger side replaced also!

There are issues with the leather dashboard wrinkling, delaminating, and bubbling. I contacted Jeep (case #91040374) after the dealership refused to fix the dashboard. This situation has worsened and requires a new dashboard ($3500) to repair the issue.

On 4/14/2023 while getting tire rotation and other general maintenance done on my 2016 Jeep, I was informed by service Tec that my lug nuts on my Jeep were swollen and soon will not be able to remove or break, causing issues like tire rotation and general maintenance impossible and high risk of cracking and breaking. This would cause the Jeep to lose its stability, at a higher speed, wheel could come off. This could cause serious damage/injury or death if this happened. I went to local Chrysler dealer in Turnersville and spoke with parts department. They stated each lug bolt cost $18.00 each. I need 20 to replace defective ones. Chrysler parts rep suggested I call Chrysler customer service who he believes would send replacement bolts as these are steel and should not swell at all. I did call and open a complaint with Chrysler recently this month, June. I was just informed by Chrysler customer service that they deem this a warranty issue and not a safety issue and refuse to remedy or replace the defective lug bolts. I’m asking for your assistance in this situation to help replace the defective lug bolts via Chrysler before a serious accident or injury happens. I think it’s totally unacceptable that replacing these defective lug bolts cost $18.00 each and I’m being told to pay this , total cost is $360 for 20 lug bolts that are defective original Chrysler parts

I was stuck in traffic as a result of a road being closed while they cleared another incident. Creeping along, the Jeep with it's engine pause shutting down until I removed my foot off the gas and then engaging so I could move forward a foot or two. Keeping in mind this feature has been throwing errors and I've taken it to the shop twice in the last 6 months with no results, and another appointment scheduled within a few days of the accident. Car in front of me moved forward, I took my foot off the gas, and the self start struggled, and then burst into life at a full throttle. I stomped on my break and tried to steer away, but nicked the corner of the car in front of me, and tangled with their bike rack. But slowed enough there were no air bags deployed. But still, this has become MY fault because of some faulty feature in a car and I get to pay an increase in premiums despite 25 years of no accidents. Is it going to take people getting hurt before this feature can be fixed or at least disabled as a default?

On October 26, 2024, I stopped at a gas station to pick up a few items, turning my vehicle off before going inside. When I returned about five minutes later, the vehicle wouldn’t start. The fuel pump module wasn’t supplying fuel to the high-pressure pump. Since it wouldn’t start, I left it at the station overnight. The next afternoon, after about an hour of attempts, the fuel pump module finally engaged, and the vehicle started, running normally. This issue had actually occurred once before, about a year ago, while I was pulling out into traffic. At that time, the vehicle stalled, and I had to push it out of traffic and into a nearby parking lot. The fuel pump module was also silent then, indicating it wasn’t functioning. Fortunately, after around five minutes, I was able to restart the vehicle without further issues. The vehicle hasn’t exhibited this issue since—until last night. If you research this problem online, it seems there are other reports of similar incidents with Jeep Grand Cherokees and Ram 1500 models equipped with the EcoDiesel engin

I have attempted to have recall Z46 performed by several Jeep dealerships and have been unsuccessful at getting the work done or even any estimate when it might be done. I complained to Jeep online advocate and was told there was a “huge” backlog and they would not commit to any repair date. The vehicle is dangerous to drive as the fuel pump may fail and subject the occupants to unnecessary risk of injury or death.

SERVICE BRAKES

Vehicle is currently at a Jeep dealership for the 8th time with another Brake Concern. Brakes repetitively seize causing brakes to rapidly overheat, smoke emitting from the wheel, about to catch fire. Two Dealerships have failed to "duplicate the concern" until I get it there with the wheel about to catch on fire. Initially the drive side rear was the problem, 2 months after having the car returned to me, the passenger side rear began doing the same thing. I have contacted Jeep Customer Care and my concerns over the safety of the vehicle have been dismissed, they stated "this is not a known issue, if you have any other questions or concerns please contact us again". There have been no warning lights from the vehicle, it will be operating fine one trip, and the next trip you will stop after a short drive a cloud of smoke will be coming from the wheel, and the smell of burning brakes. As the brake continues to heat up while you are driving, the vehicle will begin to violently shake and vibrate.

I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH 2 VEHICLES AHEAD OF ME. THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING SLOWLY EVEN THOUGH MY FOOT WAS FIRMLY ON BRAKE AND AS IT TOUCHED THE FRONT VEHICLE, I QUICKLY HAD TO MOVE THE SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO PARK TO MAKE THE VEHICLE STOP.

SINCE CAR WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN MAY 2016, THE FRONT BRAKES SQUEAKED. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER FOR REPAIR AT 5,000 MILES DEALER STATED REPAIR TO BRAKE WAS MADE. HOWEVER, PROBLEM CONTINUES AND HAPPENS ALL THE TIME DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER AT 10,000 MILES. DEALER CLAIMS THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE NOISE AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. HOWEVER SQUEAK OCCURS ALL THE TIME DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. SOMETHING IS CERTAINLY WRONG WITH THE BRAKES.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Twice in recent months the car accelerated on its own while idling. I received no warning or message. Both times the car surged forward a short distance. I applied the brake both times, but it didn’t seem to have much effect. The car seemed to slow on its own. My search of the internet uncovered many instances of sudden unintended acceleration involving the Jeep Cherokee, some resulting in severe injury/property damage, so it is definitely a safety issue. There have been many complaints, over many years, about this same problem, but I could not find mention of a recall notice or service advisory. Apparently there has been no definitive identification of the cause. I would gladly have the car inspected, but suspect that the problem can not be easily reproduced. I have had the vehicle for 5 years and only experienced this problem twice. Of course it only has to happen once to cause serious harm.

I WAS PULLING OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY FROM A STOP POSITION, AS I TRIED ACCELERATE THE ENGINE ACTED LIKE I WAS IN NEUTRAL OR PARK! I THOUGHT I HIT THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL, BUT I WAS IN DRIVE. IT WENT BACK INTO DRIVE MODE SECOND S LATER. SCARY FEELING WITH TRAFFIC GOING 50 MPH AROUND ME! WELL IT DID IT AGAIN GOING FROM A STOP POSITION TURNING LEFT ONTO A BUSY 3 LANE STREET. VEHICLE WAS PARK AT DRIVE THRU ATM. VEHICLE WAS PLACED BACK INTO DRIVE AND AS. TAKE BRAKE WAS RELEASED, VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT GAS PEDAL BEING PRESSED. VEHICLE WENT INTO FORWARD MOTION RAPIDLY AND BRAKE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO STOP VEHICLE. SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN A SHORT TIME LATER WHEN PULLING ONTO STREET. PRIOR THE VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO NEUTRAL WITHOUT WARNING. AS VEHICLE WAS ATTEMPTING TO CROSS BUSY HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE WENT INTO NEUTRAL AT DETRIMENTAL TIME WHILE TRAFFIC WAS ONCOMING. SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL THEN BACK TO DRIVE HAD NO EFFECT. VEHICLE ENGINE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON TO GET VEHICLE TO GO BACK IN DRIVE. THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. DEALER SHIP WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY REPLACE A WIRE HARNESS. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED REGARDING ACCELERATION ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THEM. The gear selector assembly (shifter indicator) failed in accordance with current recall S28 for 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokees. The lights stopped illuminating suggesting corruption/inability to flash repair and the "Service Shifter" warning message appeared on the dash. The dealer indicated the vehicle is immediately unsafe for operation stating that the PRNDM indicator operates important features beyond just illumination of the PRNDM display such as driving signals, lights including reverse lights, backup camera, etc and that the vehicle is not currently recognizing all gears. Jeep dealer indicated this is a common failure and indicative of S28 recall but could not provide reasoning why vehicle was not included in the notice.

Vehicle will stall while driving. Has happened 15+ times when trying to accelerate from a stop light, twice while driving at 45+ mph. Engine will stall and the dash will say "Shift to park to continue driving." Vehicle must be shifted in to park, and then the start button must be pressed to restart the engine and continue driving.

My first report (#11396370) was made to you in February 2021. The recall was started in 2020 and as of this date my jeep dealer does not have the parts to repair my vehicle. According to reports, I am driving a "time bomb" ready to burst into flames and threatening the safety and lives of me, my family, and my passengers. To make things worse jeep has notified me that the "U-Connect" emergency contact system will become degraded and inoperable in the coming months making it impossible for me to contact "911" or the jeep emergency assistance contact system. The latter being a paid service (similar to GMC's "On-Star" system) for which they have not promulgated any remedy, any thought of a remedy, or attempt to provide any remedy. THE BOTTOM LINE: I am driving a "time bomb" without a here to fore active emergency contact system with no resolution or parts available from Jeep. Someone needs to report and inquire about the above cited Jeep issues.

I WAS AT A RED STOP LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND ONTO THE GAS PEDAL AND REALIZED MY 2016 GRAND CHEROKEE WOULD NOT MOVE AND HAD COMPLETELY STALLED. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THE GEAR WAS NOT IN NEUTRAL AND READ AN ERROR MESSAGE ON THE DASH THAT SAID SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF 'SHIFT THE GEAR INTO PARK AND THEN INTO DESIRED GEAR.' I COULD NOT PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND HAD TO COMPLETELY SHUT OF MY VEHICLE AND RESTART IT TO GET IT INTO DRIVE. I WAS LUCKY THAT IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT AND NOT MANY PEOPLE WERE AROUND ALTHOUGH ONE PERSON CAME SPEEDING UP BEHIND ME AND HAD TO SWITCH LANES TO NOT HIT ME, EVEN CAME WITH A NOT SO FRIENDLY HONK. I HAVE HEARD OF MANY OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT SAME SITUATION INCLUDING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY AND TAKING TURNS IN BUSY TRAFFIC. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the power steering warning light illuminated, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering rack and pinion was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic who replaced the steering rack and pinion, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 55,000.

DAMAGE TO THE GOLF CART WAS MINOR AND CONSISTED OF BROKEN PLASTIC PARTS. VISIBLE DAMAGE TO THE JEEP WAS A DENTED LICENSE PLATE. THE FRONT WHEEL WERE FROZEN IN THE LEFT TURN POSITION AND COULD NOT BE MOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A JEEP DEALER, WHO REPORTED THAT THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY WAS FROZEN AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DISASSEMBLE OR REPAIR THE PART. THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS $5,020.00. THE VEHICLE HAS 33,040 MILES AND IS WELL MAINTAINED, WITH NO PRIOR ACCIDENTS.

While exiting an automatic car wash, I pressed the brake pedal to put the vehicle in gear and while turning in the lot to go to a vacuum station the accelerator stuck and went to wide open full speed mode and I could not stop it with the brakes. I shot through a vacuum stall, jumped a curb and hit a concrete drain collection box. The air bags deployed but the car was a total loss.

Over a 3 year time span my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee has on multiple occasions had an extremely rough idle, has a hard time accelerating and car drives extremely rough and bumpy. I’ve taken it to multiple different auto shops and all they ever do is change spark plugs OR they just don’t know what’s wrong. No engine light illuminated and no codes. Spark plugs changed March 2020, august 2020, January 2021 and now January 2023 I’m having this problem again and the shop says they don’t think it’s spark plugs . I just want this resolved. This cannot be safe!

The headrest on the driver's side popped open when I was driving. I had backed out of my driveway and had changed to drive and as I did the headrest popped open. It hit me in the back of my head. Luckily I was driving slow and I could pull over to find out what happen and discovered that the headrest popped open. In trying to find out what was going on with the headrest I discovered a small piece of plastic that came out of the headrest. I am unable to reset the headrest due to this broken piece of plastic. I am glad that I wasn't driving at a faster speed as the bump from the headrest may have caused me to put on the breaks or change lanes as a result of the hit on my head.

THE CAUSE IS A CHEAP PLASTIC PIN THAT IS UNDER CONSTANT PRESSURE AND HAS DETERIORATED OVER TIME AND RELEASE WITHOUT WARNING. THIS KNOWN POTENTIAL PROBLEM HAS NOT HAPPENED TO ME YET. BUT JEEP (FCA) ISSUED A WARNING AND EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL TO FIX THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM. THEY ARE ONLY FIXING THIS IF IT HAS DEPLOYED, LEAVING ALL OTHER CUSTOMERS WORRYING AND WAITING FOR A POTENTIAL HIT TO THE HEAD ANYTIME WHILE DRIVING. This 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee was hit in the left front by a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign. It also spun and was impacted on the left rear as well. All airbags but the driver’s side curtain airbag deployed. The driver hit their head on the seat belt pillar on the driver’s side. I have contacted Jeep but they have not responded to me in over a week. Injury to the driver’s head would have been less traumatic if this airbag had deployed.

I was involved in a car crash accident on the freeway, I was hit by a Ford Raptor truck from the back (left side) and pushed against the median barrier (center division) bounced back and spun twice and while spinning I hit another vehicle. Through all this I had three impacts, but when I hit the center divider I bumped my head on the left side and while spinning I heard the sound of gas (and felt air also coming into the car on the side of my head) but the side airbags never deployed. I suffered a head concussion and neck injury due to whiplash and bumping my head. I called the Jeep Company and claimed about the side/curtains airbags not deploying, they said they will send someone to check the car and investigate, they also made me sign the order authorizing them to check the car and after doing the investigation they sent me a letter with a vague explanation and no copy of the report that supports it. This needs further investigation, Jeep is not being cleared about this.

The airbag sensor indicator light for front passenger seat illuminated on my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited at only 80,000 miles even when adult passengers are sitting in the seat. This conveys that there is an airbag malfunction. It has stayed illuminated. This poses a danger to passengers in the front passenger seat. It has not been inspected by a mechanic or dealer yet.

Headlights will completely go out at night just at random, sometimes it's only one and sometimes it both completely. Yet the High beams and fog lights will work when activated even when the regular lights will not. Has been an ongoing issue for a while now, and upon talking to other Jeep Grand Cherokee owners of around the same year model they complain that there's do it randomly as well, and I've seen a lot of forums talking about this issue.

The headlight lenses are hazing on the inside. I have turned this defect in for warranty repair and repair was denied. I contacted Jeep and I was told since it was denied there is nothing more they can do. The hazing on the inside of the lese is defusing the lights and visibility is drastically reduced at night. I have researched this issue and what I find out is the haze is caused by the heat of the BiXenon HID is burning the inside of the headlight lense.

The contact stated that the manufacturer's part number for both failed fuel pumps were identical. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. Since purchased new, vehicle frequently loses acceleration, at varying vehicle speeds and will not exceed engine idle and has happened several times when crossing oncoming speeding traffic and is hard to avoid dangerous collision. To get the engine to accelerate again, operator must stop the vehicle, put the can in park, shut the engine off then restart. Most of the times, it is hard to find a spot in the traffic to go through the above maneuver creating a very dangerous situation as it has happened in the HOV lane of freeways during high speed and crowded traffic, no place to pull over.

Initially called to schedule an appointment with the jeep dealership due to engine coolant loss in December of 2021 in regards to a recall of egr cooler (W79). Couldn't get an appointment until 2/25/2022. Told it was safe to drive until. 2/25 took vehicle in for inspection of said recall, told yes it does have problem, but no parts until 3/14/2022, safe to drive. Brought back 3/14/22 dealership still has vehicle, not safe to drive, still waiting on parts. Now there is a new recall (Z46), vehicle unsafe to drive, no parts or time when parts will be available.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that all 20 lug nuts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000. The contact replaced all of the swollen lug nuts at their own expense.

Lug nuts on tires have swelled up and expanded causing inability to get tire to come off with emergency lug wrench that comes with the vehicle. This poses a risk for driver if they come across a flat tire as they will be left stranded. Still have yet to find a mechanic that has been able to get my tire off.

I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT, TRIED PUTTING AIR IN MY TIRES BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO SERVICE THE PROBLEM ON 04/30/2018. AFTER I DROPPED OFF MY CAR I WAS TOLD TO WAIT FOR A PHONE CALL. WHEN I GOT THE CALL MY SERVICE ADVISOR [XXX], WHO WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL TOLD ME ALL 4 OF MY SENSORS WERE MISSING AND THERE'S A STRONG POSSIBILITY THE PREVIOUS OWNER ALSO SWAPPED OUT THE TIRES AS WELL. My 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee 75th edition 3.0L Ecodiesel stalled with no warning while driving on a two lane highway in the middle of NoWhere, New Mexico. No warning lights, until the entire dashboard turned on and the car starting losing speed and power. I don't know how I was lucky enough to make it to the shoulder. I sat there for 2 hours with my 2 kids in the car waiting for a tow, 8 hours from home. I have come to find out that there is one recall for my EGR but when taken to the dealership I was told that my car was built with magnetic material attached to the tone wheel which provides a signal to the crankshaft position sensor and was lost therefore leaving me stalled and stranded. I have looked up my recalls and that one is not on there! How is that possible.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND TOWING MY BOAT (APPROX 4500LBS) FOR THE PREVIOUS HOUR OR SO ON STATE HIGHWAY BETWEEN 50-65 MPH WITH SOME STOPLIGHTS (NOT INTERSTATE), THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) CAME ON AND THE DRIVER INTERFACE ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CAME ON DISPLAYING SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF "SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL SYSTEM". CONTINUED DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES TO GET TO AN INTERSECTION TO TURN OFF THE MAIN ROAD. ONCE STOPPED AT THE STOPLIGHT I NOTICED SLIGHT SMOKE COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT CORNER OF THE HOOD BY THE HEADLIGHT. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK, PUT THE HAZARDS ON AND PULLED THE HOOD RELEASE. BY THE TIME I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND MADE MY WAY AROUND THE DOOR TO THE HOOD, THICK BLACK SMOKE WAS BILLOWING FROM ALL AROUND THE HOOD AND FLAMES WERE NOTICED COMING THROUGH BODY GAPS AND THE GRILL. WITHIN 30 SECONDS THE ENTIRE ENGINE BAY AND HOOD WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I DID MANAGE TO GET THE BOAT UNHOOKED AND PUSHED BACK AND DOCUMENTED WITH PHOTOS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THESE INDICATIONS (CEL) AND DRIVER INTERFACE DISPLAYED THE EXACT SAME INDICATIONS. THE FIRST TIME IT RESOLVED UPON SHUTTING DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND TIME, IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALER. APPROX 1 MONTH PRIOR TO THE FIRE THE DEALER FOUND NOTHING ON INSPECTION AND RESET THE CODE. THE CODE WAS FOR EXCESSIVE EGR FLOW. ADDITIONALLY THE DEALER PERFORMED ANY OUTSTANDING RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THIS VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH THE 3.0 ECO DIESEL ENGINE AND WAS BOUGHT NEW, DEALER, SERVICED ITS ENTIRE TIME AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 70K MILES ON IT. I HAVE NO DOUBT THIS WAS DIRECTLY RATED TO AN EGR PROBLEM THAT THESE PARTICULAR ENGINES HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH DIRECTLY RESULTING IN THE FIRE.

The 2011-2021 Jeep WK2 Grand Cherokees all have a safety issue when driven in colder climates in snowy, or icy conditions. Where the wipers are parked on the windshield is below the level of the dashboard, so any heat that is produced by the windshield defroster does not warm the glass where the wipers are parked. This leads to the wipers freezing to the windshield, and cannot be operated to clear the windshield. I don't know why this hasn't been a recall issue in the past, as it effects every WK2 in those years. The solution would be to remove the windshield, and add a heating element to the inside of the glass, similar to the rear window, which happens to have a heating element underneath the rear wiper. There are other vehicles that do have heating elements under the front wipers, namely the Jeep KL Cherokee models. So, FCA knew this was a problem, and decided to ignore it, as they have done many other issues.

There is a water leak in the rear cargo compartment of the jeep. Searching on-line I saw that there were numerous complaints of water leaking which may cause an electrical fire. There was suppose to be a recall on 2014 - 2016 Jeeps but when I entered my VIN # it did not come up. I am afraid my vehicle will catch on fire with this water leaking.

VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS HOW JEEP (FCA) HAS ALLOWED A DRIVER TO BACK-UP WITH THE LIFTGATE OPEN, WITHOUT A CHIME OR OTHER LOUD WARNING (SIMILAR TO THAT WHEN YOUR DOORS ARE OPEN. BY ACCIDENT I BACKED UP AFTER AUTOMATICALLY CLOSING THE LIFTGATE AND ASSUMING IT WAS CLOSED. THE LIFTGATE WAS NOT ABLE TO CLOSE AND AUTOMATICALLY RE-OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS IN A PARKING GARAGE AND UNFORTUNATELY THE LIFTGATE RUBBED AGAINST THE CIELING OF THE GARAGE, CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LIFTGATE. IT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. I CONTACTED JEEP TO LOG MY COMPLAINT BUT WAS REBUFFED AND BELIEVE ME, FOR THEIR ATTITUDE IN ADDRESSING A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY, I WILL THINK TWICE ABOUT BUYING ANOTHER JEEP. NO VEHICLE SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO BE BACKUP WITH THE LIFTGATE OPEN, AND WITHOUT A CHIME TO ALERT THE DRIVER.

THE CORRECT PROCEDURE TO MAKE IT LOCK IS TO PULL THE BELT OUT ALL THE WAY, THEN LET IT BACK IN. THIS PROCEDURE DOES WORKONMY VEHICLE. THE OWNER'S MANUAL SEEMS TO SAY THAT THE SEATBELTS ALL WORK AUTOMATICALLY IN CASE OF A SUDDENT STOP. BUT I WAS GIVEN A DOCUMENT BY THE REPAIR SHOP THAT EXPLAINS THE "CORRECT" PROCEDURE. I CAN'T IMAGINE THAT THIS ISCONSIDERED A SAFE SEAT/SHOLDER BELT DESIGN. I ASSUME ALMOST EVERY JEEP OWNER IS USING THE BELTS PER THE MANUAL, AND IS UNSAFE.

I ALSO TRIED HOLDING IT DOWN. NOTHING I DID WOULD TURN THE IGNITION OFF. THE DISPLAY SCREEN WAS FLASHING A LOT OF DIFFERENT ERROR MESSAGES INCLUDING ?VEHICLE NOT IN PARK?. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE IGNITION NOT SHUTTING OFF WHEN PUSHING THE BUTTON. *TT *TR CONSUMER STATED WINDSHIELD WAS CHANGED OUT THE SAME DAY THIS ISSUE OCCURRED WITH A JEEP BRAND WINDSHIELD. SINCE THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN OFF, THEY LEFT IT OVERNIGHT AND THE BATTERY DIED, CLEARING ALL FAULT CODES. THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUE WITH IT IN THE MORNING. I've had issues with my vehicle since 2021 -engine light first appeared on the dashboard and towed my car to a Jeep dealership. Vehicle was "repaired" (have the documentation, if needed), but the engine light remained on. I have since driven this vehicle for nearly 3 years with the engine light on, bringing it into different Jeep dealerships (all documentation on record if needed) to repair and was told there was nothing they could find wrong with the engine. Last year (2023) my electronic stability control and 4WD lights came on in addition to the engine light. My car was sliding all over the road and my 4WD was not engaging at all. Brought vehicle to Jeep dealership for repair, was told ABS module needs to be replaced and the traction control is malfunctioning; no 4 wheel drive engagement; that the ABS module has been discontinued and the only way to replace this is to get an after market part. Contacted Mopar and was told there is "no way of knowing if it's available and it's beyond their capability". I was told the after market part would be tied to a specific VIN. I then contacted the Jeep Dealership- Parts department and explained the situation, asking if there's any other way I can fix this part in my vehicle. Was told there's nothing I can do since it's discontinued, that it's odd that a part for a 2016 vehicle would be discontinued, and I could check junkyards for parts but am not likely to find a match since my vehicle is not that old. I live in Colorado and in the last 2 winter months have been terrified to drive when it rains or snows because I have NO traction and am sliding THROUGH traffic lights and stop signs, even going at a very slow speed. I ended up in the next lane over when slowly driving up a hill on a main road. The value of this 2016 vehicle is miniscule compared to value when I purchased; this places safety of MYSELF AND OTHERS at risk. My partner is experiencing a similar issue with his 2014 Cherokee - discontinued part and safety issues.

ACCORDING TO JEEP FORUMS ONLINE, THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE IN GRAND CHEROKEES. DURING NIGHT TRIPS IN RURAL AREAS, I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE COULD BECOME MORE DETRIMENTAL. THERE ARE NO STREETLIGHTS, AND MANY WHITETAIL DEER AND OTHER HAZARDS ARE MADE UNAVOIDABLE WITHOUT HEADLIGHTS, OR WITH DISTRACTION CAUSED BY THIS FLICKERING. THE SYSTEM WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED IN A HORRIBLE LOCATION WITH TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE AND CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS IS A FOLLOW ON TO A COMPLAINT FILED A FEW WEEKS AGO. I CAME HOME FROM A BUSINESS TRIP ON 4/5/2016. I STARTED THE JEEP IN THE DAILY GARAGE AT BWI AND WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON FOR THE STABILITY CONTROL AND ENGINE. THE GEAR INDICATORS (P, N, D, ETC.) WERE FLASHING AND IT DID NOT RECOGNIZE WHAT GEAR IT WAS IN. IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE A GEAR, AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF THE ENGINE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND LEFT IT OVERNIGHT STILL RUNNING. THE DEALER FINALLY GOT IT TURNED OFF BY PULLING A SENSOR ON THE FUEL PUMP. AS OF TODAY, 4/28, IT IS STILL IN THE SHOP. THEY HAD REPLACED THE VALVE TUB BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE NOW PLANNING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION, SUPPOSEDLY IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS, BUT AS OF TODAY JEEP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO EXPLAIN EXACTLY WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. IT HAD JUST OVER 500 MILES ON IT WHEN IT FAILED, BRAND NEW, AND HAS NOW BEEN IN THE SHOP LONGER THAN I'VE OWNED IT.

Tires: Pirelli 285/40R22. Tires failed: Front passenger + Both -Driver/Passenger tires. Failures did not occur concurrently. I am writing to report significant issues with the Pirelli tires on my vehicle, raising serious safety concerns. (Usage, two tires - 11 months / 1 tire - 4 months) Firstly, the front passenger tire has developed noticeable bumps on the sidewall near the rim. Notably, these tires have never encountered foreign objects or rough terrain that could have caused this damage. The bulges indicate potential internal damage, compromising the tire's structural integrity and posing a risk while driving. Additionally, the passenger rear tire suffered a catastrophic blowout at 65 mph on Interstate 75. Examination revealed a 10-inch strip had detached from the tire's inner layer. This sudden failure occurred without warning and could have resulted in a severe loss of control, endangering my safety and that of other road users. Similarly, the driver rear tire also blew out at 65 mph on Interstate 10 due to a failed section measuring approximately 6 inches along the contact area. These incidents raise critical concerns about the reliability of these tires, especially at highway speeds. Following these events, my technicians inspected the vehicle and found no other underlying issues, raising further questions about the quality and durability of these tires. I urge you to investigate thoroughly to prevent risks for other customers relying on your products. Thank you for your attention to this issue.

I'm not sure what components malfunctioned but my vehicle is in a body shop currently getting work done from the accident I was recently in. The safety of my cousin and I was put into risk when I was driving on the highway and I hydroplaned on the highway and did a 180 degree turn but luckily no one hit me and I didn't hit anyone else. I slammed on the concrete median which is what stopped my vehicle on the highway leaving my vehicle with 9 thousand in damages. I filed an insurance claim and is now getting fixed like I mentioned. Prior to the accident I had noticed the car shifting to the left and dramatically declining acceleration and a loud pop by the front driver tire. That is the best way to describe what the car does. So on the day of the incident I believe the car did what I just explained and it caused me to hydroplane and I'm in fear it is going to happen again. I have taken it to another shop after the accident because my vehicle would not start and a different shop said they heard the noise but could not figure out what it was. When I get my vehicle back I planned on taking it to a recall center but I decided to make this report first. There were no warning lights before during or after the accident.

Water pump issue. While driving, the thermometer gauge suddenly went to "H", check engine light came on, no smoke seen and the car suddenly stopped. Coolant confirmed in the tank. There were rats detected in the vehicle that chewed the interior wires. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the wires were damaged. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.

This is a huge issue in my opinion because of the inability to keep the car straight when hitting a pothole or any bumps in the road. the vehicle does not stay in a straight line. I have reported the problem to the dealership with no help. It hasn't caused a wreck yet, but I'm afraid I'm just postponing the inevitable.

MY CAR WILL RANDOMLY STALL OUT WHEN I SLOW DOWN OR COME TO A STOP WHILE DRIVING. THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 4 TIMES WHERE I'VE BEEN STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND IT AUTO-STOPS AND THEN DOESN'T START BACK UP AGAIN WHEN THE TRAFFIC STARTS MOVING AGAIN. A MESSAGE COMES UP ON MY DASHBOARD TELLING ME TO SHIFT TO P AND THEN BACK TO MY DESIRED GEAR. I'LL TRY TO RESTART MY CAR 2-3 TIMES BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS. I'VE BEEN ON HILLS AND ON HIGHWAYS WHEN THIS HAS HAPPENED AND ALMOST GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT ON AT LEAST 4 OCCASIONS BECAUSE OF IT. I'VE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR A YEAR SO 4 'CLOSE CALLS' IS A BIT MUCH FOR SUCH A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF MANUALLY. SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE. I STOPPED AND ATTEMPTED TO PLACE IN PARK BUT COULD NOT SHIFT INTO PARK.. I KILLED THE ENGINE, PLACED IN PARK AND RESTARTED AND CONTINUED WITH THE LOW DRAG NOISE AND DASHBOARD CONTINUED TO FLICKER AND CAR FELT AS THOUGH IT WOULD STALL, WHEN ARRIVED TO PARKING LOT, COULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. SINCE LEASING THIS JEEP IN JULY OF 2016 THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE ISSUES. THE MAIN CODE FOUND SEVERAL TIME IS A LOSS OF COMMUNICATION FROM THE MAIN COMPUTER TO THE REST OF THE AUTO. CODE U220. ISSUES INCLUDE 1) INCORRECT SHIFTING, 2) INCORRECT "BRAKE" WARNINGS, 3) UNAVAILABILITY OF BRIGHT LIGHTS IN THE AUTO OR MANUAL MODES, 4) LANE CHANGE/OBJECT SONAR WARNINGS NOT AVAILABLE (BACK INTO CEMENT WALL AT NIGHT) 5) NONFUNCTIONAL AUTOMATIC WINDSHIELD WIPERS 6) LACK OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE JEEP AND IPHONE 7) INABILITY TO TURN JEEP OFF 8) WHEN IN CRUISE CONTROL IF + PUSHED IT DOESN'T GO UP JUST ONE OR TWO MPH'S, IT SPEEDS UP VERY QUICKLY AND DOESN'T STOP AND 9) ISSUE WITH ADJUSTING THE AIR RIDE AND . THE BRIGHT LIGHTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE 50% OF THE TIME. I WOULD TAKE THE JEEP IN AND THEY COULD NOT FIND A CODE, SO THEY WOULD TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING TO FIX. FINALLY, A TECH LOOKED INTO THE ISSUE AND FOUND A STAR FIX AND IMPLEMENTED IT. NOW I HAVE THE AVAILABILITY OF BRIGHT LIGHTS 90% OF THE TIME. I DROVE FOR TWO YEARS WITH NO BRIGHT LIGHTS FOR MOST OF THE TIME AT NIGHT, ON COUNTRY ROADS, AND EVEN IN THE PA MOUNTAINS AT NIGHT WITH NO OTHER LIGHT DISTRACTIONS.. WITHIN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS THE JEEP HAS STARTED TO SHIFT INCORRECTLY. I WILL BE DRIVING IN TOWN ON A FLAT ROAD AND THE JEEP WILL SHIFT INTO "OFF ROAD" AND THE RPM'S GO UP TO 8. I HAVE AN AVAILABLE VIDEO OF THIS. I ALSO HAVE A VIDEO OF THE JEEP'S DASH AFTER IT SHIFTED TO ANOTHER DRIVE WHERE THE RPMS WENT UP TO 4 ON A LEVEL CITY ROAD. WHEN TAKING THE JEEP FOR THE "BRAKE" ISSUE THE TECH COULD FIND NO CODES. I REFUSED TO DRIVE THE JEEP AND IT SAT FOR ALMOST THREE MONTHS. FINALLY, A STAR WAS IMPLEMENTED, HOWEVER NOW THE "BRAKE" ALARM GOES OFF MORE FREQUENTLY. IN SUMMARY, IT SEEMS THE MAIN COMPUTER IS NOT TALKING CORRECTLY TO THE REST OF THE AUTO AND THE ERRORS ARE BECOMING MORE SERIOUS AS TIME GOES BY.

I OWN A 2016 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SUMMIT 4X4 SUV WHICH WAS MANUFACTURED AND MARKETED BY FCA UA LLC AS BEING A RECREATIONAL TOWING (I.E. BEHIND MOTORHOME) COMPLIANT VEHICLE. WHEN TOWING OF THE SUBJECT VEHICLE BEHIND MY MOTORHOME AT LOW SPEEDS I HAVE EXPERIENCED PERIODS OF THE VIOLENT LOSS OF CONTROL IN THE FORM OF UNCONTROLLED STEERING OF THE VEHICLE'S FRONT WHEELS WHICH POSE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK TO BOTH THE VEHICLE, MOTORHOME AND PUBLIC SAFETY. IN SUCH EVENTS, I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO STOP IN TRAFFIC, INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND MOTORHOME, THEN PULL OFF THE ROAD TO A SAFE LOCATION WHERE FURTHER INSPECTION CAN BE UNDERTAKEN. THE CONDITIONS DESCRIBED ABOVE HAVE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PROPERLY PREPARED FOR TOWING AND FOLLOWING THE SPECIFIC GUIDELINES SUPPLIED WITH THE VEHICLE IN THE FCA VEHICLE OPERATOR/OWNER'S MANUAL PAGES 593-601. FCA HAS ADVISED THAT IS HAS INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCE IN THE FORM OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS TO SUPPORT FURTHER INVESTIGATION, ENGINEERING AND ISSUANCES OF A SOLUTION FOR SUCH VEHICLE OWNERS. NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS WHO OWN AND RECREATIONALLY TOW THE SAME VEHICLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE STATED PROBLEM WHICH IS NOT CURRENTLY BEING INVESTIGATED PROPERLY BY FCA US LLC. EVIDENCE OF SUCH CAN BE FOUND ON-LINE PUBLICATIONS AND PUBLIC-FORUMS SUCH AS THE FAMILY-MOTOR-COACH ASSOCIATION (FMCA) AND IRV2 FORUMS. I NEED TO GET JEEP TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. 2016 IS FIRST YEAR FOR GRAND CHEROKEE TO HAVE ELECTRONIC STEERING WHICH WAS THE CAUSE OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING. 2014 - 2015 JEEP FIXED IT WITH A NEW HARNESS ADAPTER THAT SEND POWER TO THE STEERING WITH THE IGNITION OFF. JEEP SAID WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN WE THEN MAY COME UP WITH A SIMILAR FIX". ONLY HAS HAPPENED TO A FEW GRAND CHEROKEES. THIS OF COURSE IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO JEEP OF BERKELEY AND THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN REMEDIED. VEH-1'S VENTILATION SYSTEM IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PUSHING AIR INTO THE CABIN OF THE CAR. THIS IS NOT OCCURRING. MY FAMILY USES VEH-1 AND IN AN EVENT THAT AN ACCIDENT OCCURS, NATURAL AIR WOULD BE HALTED.

THE CAR OPERATED WELL AT FIRST START. EARLY IN THE DAY, IT DROVE 30+ MILES. AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 6+ HOURS IN A FLAT PUBLIC PARKING LOT, IT WAS TURNED ON AND PUT INTO REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF THE STALL. UPON LIGHTLY RELEASING THE BRAKE, THE CAR ACCELERATED AT A HIGH SPEED (APPROX 20MPH) AND HIT A PARKING PILLAR. A LARGE AMOUNT OF DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE BACK END, INCLUDING BUMPER, HATCH, SAFETY REINFORCEMENT BAR AND FLOOR BOARD ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED.

WHILE DRIVING TO NASHVILLE, TN WE WERE DRIVING BETWEEN 65 - 73 MPH WITH SPEED CONTROL AND HIT SLOWER TRAFFIC IT FELT LIKE THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING. THE STEERING WAS HARD TO HANDLE ON THE JEEP. IT WOULD PULL EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT AND WOULDN'T SEEM TO GO STRAIGHT. WE COULD STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT OFF AND THE STEERING WOULD BE FINE AGAIN FOR A WHILE. I TOOK MY JEEP BACK TO THE DEALER ON DECEMBER 2, 2016 AND AS OF TODAY DECEMBER 27, 2016 THEY STILL HAVE IT. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS THE POWER STEERING OR THE LIFT SUSPENSION BUT IT MOST DEFINITELY IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE SERVICE TECHS HAVE GOT IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THE DEALERSHIP. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE FRONT TIRES WOBBLING FROM SIDE TO SIDE WHILE BEING TOWED BY MOTORHOME. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE TO TOW BEHIND A 40 FOOT DIESEL MOTORHOME. ON OCTOBER 12, 2016, WHILE TOWING THE JEEP, THE MOTORHOME STARTED SHAKING/BOUNCING AS THOUGH HE HAD A BLOWN OUT TIRE. ANOTHER MOTORIST INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THE WHEELS ON THE JEEP WERE WOBBLING FROM SIDE-TO-SIDE. WHEN HE CAME TO A STOP, THE WOBBLING STOPPED.

I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM CHRYSLER/JEEP IN REGARD TO THE BRAKE/TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID WHICH MAY HAVE AN INCORRECTLY CRIMPED ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. THIS COULD LEAD TO THE TRANSITION GEAR BECOMING LOCKED IN PARK OR NEUTRAL POSITION AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. I RECEIVED THE RECALL IN JUNE 2016. JEEP OF WHITE PLAINS, NY TOLD ME THAT SERVICE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH PARTS AND WOULD PLACE ME ON A WAITING LIST. IN AUGUST, I CONTACTED THEM AGAIN AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS NOW A SOFTWARE ISSUE AND MY CAR WOULD ONLY REQUIRE A DOWNLOAD. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN ON 8/31, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT DOESNT REQUIRE A DOWNLOAD (I WAS GIVE THE WRONG INFO), THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AND I WILL HAVE TO BE PLACED ON A WAITING LIST AGAIN. WAITING OVER 3 MONTHS FOR A RECALL IS FAR FROM TIMELY.
