touch screen went black a year ago , cannot use back-up cam or change the settings for my car temperature settings. warranty has expired and jeep refuses to fix, quoting $1,700 although it’s a known issue for this year vehicle. prior to screen going black it would ghost button change the stations, there were lines in the radio screen and it would randomly shut off and on when driving.

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the screen is delaminating and now my screen is completely black. I cannot do anything on my screen which controls everything in my car. I'm unable to have my heat or air come out of anything except defrost. I had the heat on to defrost my windshield, and it kept switching to a cold setting causing my windows to not defrost. My car will randomly call people from my contacts list or if I'm on a call will place it on hold or mute. When a feature is supposed to help with distracted driving this is doing anything but that and causes all drives to be very distracting. The temperature of my vehicle is constantly switching because of the screen issues. Before my screen went completely black if I was using GPS it would randomly switch my location sometimes to a different continent again causing for a very distracting and unsafe drive because I didn't know where I was going and had to fumble around to find my phone so I could get my maps and not make a wrong turn. I'm thankful a serious accident hasn't occurred yet because of this distraction but if it does Jeep will be taking responsibility. I have called a jeep dealership and states jeep is saying sorry about you, absolutely unacceptable. There is no warning when this happens it starts out as slow minor things happening and is now extremely unsafe to drive because of the distractions it causes. Not to mention no back up camera for that extra step of safety.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the instrument cluster screen failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the instrument cluster switched applications independently. In addition, the instrument cluster occasionally displayed a blurred screen due to the glue. The contact stated that the failure began after the glue around the instrument cluster started to bubble up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed instrument cluster. The contact was informed that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

Urgent Safety Concern Regarding Defective Uconnect Radio System Shortly after purchasing my vehicle from Bertera in Westfield, Massachusetts, I began experiencing issues with the radio and related components—namely, erratic or "ghost" activity. I returned the vehicle to the dealership on multiple occasions; however, because the issue failed to replicate while in their possession, they were unable to offer any resolution. The problem persisted intermittently, but escalated significantly during a visit to Logan Airport. While curbside, the vehicle began behaving erratically: the exterior lights flashed, doors locked unexpectedly, heated seats activated, windows became unresponsive, and the vehicle could not be exited—even when approached by a security officer. After powering down and waiting for several minutes (with permission from security, as we exceeded our time limit), the system reset.Despite this dangerous scenario, the dealership again reported they could not reproduce the issue and offered no corrective action. On June 11, in preparation for a trip to Boston, I brought the vehicle to Bedard Brothers in Cheshire, Massachusetts—a certified Jeep dealership. Their technician determined the radio screen was delaminated and causing unintended inputs. They informed me that since my warranty had expired, the repair would cost more than $1,400. On [XXX], during travel to Massachusetts General Hospital, the malfunction occurred again: the heated seats engaged and would not turn off (despite temperatures nearing 90°F), the radio volume spiked uncontrollably, and the prior array of electronic malfunctions returned. Fortunately, I was able to attend the appointment and make it home safely. I have contacted Stellantis, Uconnect, and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. While Stellantis expressed sympathy, they stated they could not offer assistance. My research has revealed multiple similar complaints from other vehicle owners. Any help greatly appreciated. The main screen in the vehicle delaminated and caused quite a number of issues. Heated seats would randomly turn on and off and the temp on gbe seats would not go down, phone would call people over and over including 911, compartment heat would randomly turn on the highest setting and would not turn down, goo like substance came out of screen into the storage compartment below the screen, getting all over items stored. The radio would constantly change stations. All the issues became true safety hazards. I called their 800# and was referred to a dealer who charged me over $1000 with no remorse from Jeep. I am a 25 year owner of jeeps and not too pleased with the lack of response from Jeep. My next car will not be a Jeep!

Transmission line has worn a hole from the location it sits under the jeep. The metal hose now has a flat spot. This is because its rubbing on the metal plate below it. I attached photos. I do have a video of what we are seeing and how it’s happening. Yes, it was taken to a dealership for proper diagnosis. Part is unavailable, because of a common issue. No dealership’s are willing to sell the part. It just stated leaking drives fine for now.

Multiple times now, the rear view camera stays on while driving and there's no way to get it to turn off. Hitting the x in the corner of the screen does nothing, the power button nor the screen off button work, and I cant access anything on the screen. While driving, theres a constant view of the road behind me and it's incredibly distracting. This appears to line up with Recall 20V-191, although my specific car isnt included in that but im absolutely experiencing the same things. No warning messages or anything indicating an issue before it happens - it seems completely random. ive tried soft reset and many button press sequences ive found on forums but the only thing thats ever worked is leaving the car off for 20+ minutes so it resets. This has happened on at least 4 different occasions, I have videos of 3 of them.

Delamination of infotainment system has occurred, causing a safety hazard if (or when) needing to use the SOS calling, hands free communication, or heads up navigation system. This is a manufacturers defect that may cause safety to myself or others due to distracting the driver by turning on and off seat warmers, adjusting climate control, randomly calling people and makes the operation of utilizing SOS features impossible. The component has not been inspected, but seems like a common occurrence amongst these this model year. No warning lamps or messages appeared and I was taken off guard when my infotainment system appeared to have a life of its own on the interstate.

Screen delamination causing phantom touches on the control screen
Aug 14, 2025
I own a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Uconnect 8.4" touchscreen. The screen has begun to delaminate—a well-documented and widespread issue in 2017–2019 Jeep models. As the touchscreen separates from the display, it causes ghost inputs and malfunctions in key systems: - The radio and Apple CarPlay are unusable - The screen randomly calls contacts, including emergency services like 911 without my consent - I’ve had to disable Bluetooth on my phone to prevent unintended calls and inputs - The issue prevents safe and legal use of my Drive Safe & Save Bluetooth beacon from my insurance company Multiple Jeep dealerships quoted between $1,000–$2,000 for repairs, despite this being a known defect. The vehicle is out of warranty, but this malfunction poses a safety hazard. I am filing this complaint to request that NHTSA investigate this issue and encourage Jeep/Stellantis to issue a recall or extended warranty coverage. This issue is not cosmetic—it compromises driver focus, emergency call systems, and critical controls. Many owners are experiencing the same failure with no accountability from the manufacturer.

Recall as known for 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited (Service Electronic Stability Control) that is not fixed and no fix in sight. Unsafe to drive. Can’t get a Maine state inspection sticker. Can’t sell. Many electronic codes show on dash. Rear lights stay on and will just go on automatically anytime and when using key fob to lock car. Dealership can’t fix. Manufacturer doesn’t know when there will be a fix. No answers.

The radio in this vehicle has a widespread issue where the screen delaminates and starts ghost touching . Options are randomly selected , people are randomly called , emergency services are attempted to be contacted. Basically anything that the radio controls in the car could be changed or activated . This is extremely distracting and could cause someone to take their focus off the road and cause an accident. The radio controls heater, navigation, seat heaters, phone calls , steering wheel heaters , and many other functions in the car some of which cannot be changed without the malfunctioning radio being on. Fixing this issue is somewhere in the range of $1300 at the dealership. I feel like this is and important safety issue that causes a lot of distraction when driving the vehicle and is really difficult to work around or avoid as the random screen touches are not predictable and seem to happen at random times.

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland is experiencing serious electrical malfunctions related to the Uconnect radio head unit. This component appears to control or influence multiple vehicle systems beyond just audio, including climate control, backup camera, navigation, and possibly driver assistance features. The system malfunctions frequently and erratically — settings change on their own, the screen goes black or freezes, and controls become unresponsive while driving. These distractions create a serious safety hazard, as I am forced to take my attention off the road to regain control of basic functions like defrost or audio volume. I have discovered that this issue is widely reported by thousands of Jeep owners from this model year and earlier, particularly those with Uconnect systems. Jeep has refused to address or recall the problem despite it clearly impacting driving safety and vehicle usability. This malfunction significantly impairs my ability to operate the vehicle safely. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate this issue as a potential safety defect. I have taken my car to the dealership and was advised that the whole radio unit needs to be completely replace. I have contacted Jeep and inquired about it, they told me they are aware of the issue but at this time, unless the car is under warranty, they do not offer any financial assistance. And it is a rather expensive issue to fix considering there is no fault of the car owners that the items installed in their vehicles are faulty.

The touchscreen radio panel is delaminating and causing the system to freak out. Sometimes the radio will turn on by itself and blare out music, or all of the fans will turn on turbo at once. The navigation will freak out and turn off and it will auto-dial or auto-hang up phone calls. Sometimes when I am driving down the high way, the air or radio blasting from out of nowhere and totally unprompted will scare me and cause me to jerk the steering wheel or become significantly distract from the road. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by the dealer, and it is a known defect, but they will not take responsibility for the safety hazard or the cost of replacement. No inspection by any outside parties, yet. No warning signs.. the screen just started to melt/delaminate and then all of the ghost features began causing chaos while driving.
Sep 11, 2024
The "UCONNECT" touch screen infotainment system is delaminating which causes rapid and continuous "ghost" touches. This is extremely distracting and unnerving. This will occur on any screen. Radio, navigation, climate control, sos, etc. are all affected by this. When this occurs it is very difficult to concentrate on driving due to the rapid succesion of ghost touches.

ENGINE

I purchased my Jeep in 2023 and have consistently stayed up to date on all required maintenance. I had no issues with the vehicle until recently, when the check engine light and the start/stop warning appeared out of nowhere. After inspection, the mechanic determined that the entire engine needs to be replaced due to severe coolant leakage. My vehicle has now been in the repair shop for over three months because the engine is on national backorder. I contacted the dealership, but they dismissed my concerns and told me that once the car is purchased, it’s no longer their responsibility. I then reached out to the manufacturer requesting a goodwill resolution, given the unreasonable repair delay and the national backorder of such a critical component. Lemon law mileage limits do not apply to goodwill assistance, trade-in support, or corporate escalations. Despite this, the manufacturer has refused to provide any explanation or documentation for why they cannot assist and it has been three months with no progress. There were no warnings or indicators that something was failing internally, and my mechanic confirmed there was absolutely nothing I could have done to prevent this. I’ve also seen numerous reports of this same issue affecting my specific make and model. Stellantis needs to take accountability. It is completely unfair that I am left without reliable transportation for months over an issue that was entirely out of my control.
Dec 03, 2025
In September 2025, the vehicle was shaking upon idle when we started it. We did a test and learned it was somehow losing coolant. We took it to a mechanic who discovered it was burning coolant in the 5th cylinder. They diagnosed the issue as blown head gaskets caused by the engine being machined incorrectly by the manufacturer. This resulted in the need for a short block removal and replacement, resurfacing the cylinder heads, replacing the head gaskets, among with many smaller repairs. The cost was over $8,000 total for a manufacturing error. If left unresolved, this could have caused further mechanical issues and potentially a crash or other safety issues.

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee suffered a sudden, catastrophic engine failure with no warning lights or alerts. Dealer confirmed the engine seized from overheating and cannot be repaired—replacement engines are on national backorder. This is my only vehicle, I’m 7 months pregnant, and I’ve been without transportation for 30+ days. This appears to be a widespread 3.6L Pentastar defect and a serious safety concern.

POWER TRAIN

I own a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. On December 5, 2025, the vehicle received a transmission fluid exchange service at a Jeep dealership. Prior to this service, the transmission operated normally with no hesitation, harsh shifts, or warning lights. Within a few days after the service, I began noticing delayed engagement and hesitation during shifts. On December 14, 2025, while driving at highway speed, the transmission suddenly shifted harshly with a rapid increase in engine RPM followed by a hard engagement. Later the same day, when stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle hesitated to move forward, revved abnormally, then engaged abruptly. A check engine light illuminated at that time. The vehicle behavior was unpredictable and created a safety concern while driving in traffic, particularly during acceleration from a stop and at highway speeds. The vehicle was driven directly to the servicing dealership and is currently available for inspection. The issue began only after the transmission service was performed. The transmission had no prior symptoms before the service. Warning indicators: Check engine light illuminated on December 14, 2025 after the transmission exhibited harsh shifting and hesitation. Inspection status: The vehicle is currently at the dealership that performed the transmission service for diagnosis.

Jeep uses a transmission manufactured by ZF. Jeep claims the transmission is "filled for life" and does not require any maintenance, and never requires the oil to be changed. ZF recommends the oil be changed every 50-75,000 miles. Many other car manufacturers that utilize ZF transmissions recommend that same interval. In fact, if you push Jeep to change your transmission oil, they suggest it will void your warranty. Preventative maintenance in the form of a transmission fluid change is necessary for the health and longevity of the vehicle. Jeep is negligent in this matter. When your transmission fails, you are thrust into "limp" mode, capping your speed at 15-20 mph. This occurred to me on the highway. I narrowly avoided being rear ended in traffic traveling 65+ mph. My car has been babied, all factory recommended services have been done in a timely manner, I was not having any issues with the car at the time, and there were no symptoms, warning lights, etc at the time.

Additionally, the contact stated that the failure reoccurred. The contact stated while driving on a busy highway, the engine seized. The vehicle was restarted, and the vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 96,010.

While driving on I-95 on 11/14/25, the passenger headrest suddenly and unexpectedly exploded forward with great force while I was sitting in the seat. We were not in an accident or collision. The headrest is now push so far forward that it pushes my face down toward my chest. We cannot reset the head rest to its original position and there is some broken plastic inside the headrest mechanism. A warranty extension has been issued for this known problem with 2014-2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles. When I called my dealership, I was told that my vehicle model was NOT included in this warranty extension.

Drivers head rest has a whiplash protection, the headrest exploded and there was no impact, accident, literally just pulling into the target parking lot. The front of the headrest hit the back of my head while I was driving which was unsafe and painful. The noise it made was also extremely loud and occurred right in my ear which was frightening. I have not sought out for help on this issue or had it looked at, but online i was checking for a recall and I saw many others have had this happen. This is available for inspection though. There was no warning, lights, etc. but this happened completely unprovoked.
Sep 09, 2025
My active head rest internal plastic clips that hold the headrest from releasing randomly broke. The headrest propelled forward while driving almost causing an accident. I looked in the headrest and the retaining clips broke without a cause event. I've liked online at threads and this is incredibly common in the grand cherokee
Aug 27, 2025
The active headrest on the driver's seat deployed spontaneously on it's own during normal operation of my vehicle. The headrest is now unable to be reset as it appears some components of the active headrest mechanism were faulty. This put my safety at risk as a driver as the active headrest can not activate in the event that it needs to activate during a possible collision. The headrest and seat causes strain and injury to my neck while driving as it is now positioned forward from the seat. This also causes strain to the rest of my spine. This issue is not covered by the original dealer that sold me my vehicle. There are no warning lamps or messages that have appeared since this problem first occurred.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I have been experiencing slow crank issues for months now. The vehicle will have a slow crank then start. If it does not start on the first try, it will start on the second attempt. This concerns me as I've read many complaints regarding high pressure fuel pump issues on Jeep Grand Cherokees. I am concerned about my safety especially being stranded at night time. I was told I need to change the fuel pump. I called the dealership and was also told that many Jeep Grand Cherokees have been experiencing the same issue which was fixed by replacing the fuel pump. If many vehicles are experiencing the same problem, why is this not considered a recall?
Apr 03, 2025
When refueling the vehicle, the fuel pump handle must be inverted in order to deliver gas. Without such upside down delivery. the pump shuts off.. The Inverted handle delivery creates a health and safety issue as gas can easily overflow the tank fuel filler tube. My wife just spent three days in the hospital after being bathed in gas, and now has heart and vision issues as a result. Jeep has a history of gas filler tube issues. Numerous Internet blogs report the same issue.

Sometimes when I try to fill the gas tank on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, it acts like it is full and will keep tripping the safety in the gas pump nozzle and shut off the gas flow. It acts randomly at the same or different gas stations without any warning. Occasionally gas will spray out of the tank, risking my safety and the safety of others near the pump. The only way I can fill the tank when this happens is to turn the nozzle sideways and fill it very slowly. I have checked a car complaint site on the internet and found numerous complaints about the same problem, dating back to 2018.
Dec 11, 2021
I have a reoccurring problem filling up my gas tank. More often than not, I cannot fill the tank. If the tank is on “E”, I can usually only put approximately 8 gallons in my tank before it starts to spew out of the tank and into the overflow tank. I had a nightmare with this just a few days ago trying to put gas in my tank at Royal Farms on Rt. 3. Gas flowed out of my tank yet my tank wasn’t full. I am sick of this problem and Jeep needs to stand behind it. I want you to make this a recall. It’s dangerous. If anyone at the gas pumps had been smoking, my entire car and the parking lot would have caught on fire.

The contact hit her head and her left leg on the steering wheel. The other driver was treated at the scene for unknown injuries. The contact sought medical attention at the hospital; no injuries were treated. A police report was filed. The contact was instructed by the police officer that she was able to drive the vehicle home; however, several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. As she attempted to resume normal driving, the vehicle downshifted upon the depression of the accelerator pedal; she then pulled over and had the vehicle towed to her home. The next day, the vehicle was initially towed to an independent mechanic; but was then towed to a second independent mechanic by her insurance where the vehicle was deemed a total loss. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and an investigation was performed on the vehicle; the investigation concluded that since the brakes were depressed, the vehicle was not traveling at a rate of speed for the airbags to deploy. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

This applies to ALL vehicles not just this one. The bulbs should be designed and able to be changed in the lot of a store not only by a dealer. I will be forwarding this to my rep and the White House. This BS has been going on for decades and this department has allowed this extreme safety concern to continue. Lights can burn out anywhere and anytime and to make this dealer maintenance is BS since they all have backlogs, limited hours and limited qualified workers.

The computer system keeps intermittently saying the turn signal bulbs are out turning off the front signal when you want to use it. The bulbs are a bunch of LED’s in the headlight and it shouldn’t turn off all of them even if one is out (they are all working properly regardless). It seems to be a fault within the computer system either inside the headlight assembly or in the car.

Hi, I’ve noticed with this Jeep and the two newer cars before it would have my dash lit up when my headlights weren’t on. This is giving me and other drivers of these cars the false impression that my headlights must be on. So many folks are driving with either just fog lights or no lights at all because their dash is lit up. Before this technology your dash would be dim and that way you knew you needed to turn your headlights on. This is becoming so common I see 1-2 every day home from work. Before this new technology it was maybe 1 a year. Please research or ask around about this since there doesn’t seem to be regulation around it. Thanks very much! UConnect screen delaminating, changing setting, turning on/off heat, ac, temps, seat warmers, making calls, changing radio stations, all while driving. Unable to use any bluetooth features. All the jumping around on the screen and adjustments while driving is a HUGE distraction and safety concern for distracted driving. Dealers will not replace without charging at minimum $2000, and replacement option is ordering the same unit again, which will eventually have the exact same issues, so not a feasible long term fix.

The touch screen on the center console of the vehicle is delaminating. The digitizer is peeling off of the screen at the top edge. This causes phantom touches on the display, causing pop-ups to appear at random, sometimes back to back in a short time. Most notably, the clock at the top-center of the display is experiencing phantom touches which causes a pop-up asking if I would like to configure the clock. This pop-up obscures most of the screen and does not go away unless dismissed by the driver or a passenger. This issue is distracting for the driver, and blocks access to digital buttons used to control function of the car, as well as other systems like the onboard navigation. The component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The delamination began in the top two corners of the screen. In the span of about two weeks the entire top edge of the digitizer has peeled away from the screen and it continues to peel off downwards. This issue first manifested while the car was parked outside on a hot day, and I believe the summer heat has exacerbated the issue.

Afternoon 28/11/2022. On I275 North near Exit 50. Tha cruise control turned on and the car started speeding up. I almost ran into the back of a truck in Front of me. I applied the brake and the cruise control turned off. Also the radio won't stay on station and occasionally the seat heaters come on by without touching any controls.

Vehicle unexpectedly accelerated on its own while I was braking. Had I not been breaking, I would’ve gotten in a car accident. Even letting off the brake slightly caused the vehicle to jerk forward quickly and aggressively until I slammed on the brake again. This is the 2nd time this has happened now.

Misfiring. Can't seem to get the check engine light off. Vehicle is too new to be having these sorts of issues. Diagnostic reader says 3rd cylinder misfire.
May 22, 2024
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine block and head are warped. Radio station keeps jumping to random station when I'm not even touching it. Auto On/Off light goes on intermittently. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This could be a failure and engine lock up had I not taken it in when first troubles came about. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes and I'm told the one dealership has 3 THREE other vehicles the same make and model with the same issue! I've also read on forums that many other people have this affect theirs as well. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Check engine light went on a few times, diagnosis showed multiple misfires in the cylinder. White smoke from the exhaust and vehicle shook and acted like it was going to stall upon starting.

October 31, 2022 - Check Engine Light came on. Autozone gave me the P0456 code - Small Leak in Evap System. The check engine light went off a week later. Continued to come on/off for the next 2 months. I was able to finally get an appt on 1/9 and took it into San Diego Jeep Dealership on Camino Del Rio S. They charged $500 for diagnostic even though I had the code already and replaced the Purge Valve & Hose. On 1/14 my car engine would not start at all. On 1/15 my car engine started, I went to drive and within a block my car shut off on me and I coasted to the side of the road while it threw a bunch of different errors including electronic stability warning. I came to a stop and then all of my windshield wipers randomly started going off, my horn randomly started going off, and the lights in my car started flashing. I pressed the push start button to try to turn it all off. I then got the error meesage that my front left headlight was out, it now is, alos my left blinker now doesn't work properly. I tried to start the car again, no luck. I called a tow truck, the tow truck guy was able to get my engine to start. I explained that my car shut off and asked him to follow me for a little while. I got 2 blocks and came to an stop sign where I idled and my car engine shut off on me again. I had my car towed back to the dealership that did the work. On 1/16 they told me it would be $700 for an electrical diagnostic. I did not have any major problems or warnings before taking it to the dealership.

I have videos, but my cars electrical system keeps glitching, It will turn my heated seats on to the pint they burn me, it connects to my phone and will randomly call anyone in my contacts, it changes radio stations, messes with my automatic start, took my traction control off and does this on a regular basis. I had this system fixed in March of 2023 just after I bought the car but it’s already doing it again. It also will randomly just cut off when I’m driving and then will be fine very randomly. - I will have to send you the videos I took it says they are too large to upload here

Component Failure: The control screen is going through a process of delamination. It creates "ghost touches" and behaves erratically. Safety at Risk: In one instance the backup camera came on and stayed on randomly, while I was driving forward. Another time it activated the phone and began calling down the contact list. It called, then hung up. Dialed the next person and hung up. And continued through the contact list. People began "returning my call" and it got worse. I was driving on the interstate during heavy traffic and couldn't just pull over anywhere. It was distracting, alarming, and unnerving. It also randomly turns the radio on. It will randomly change heat/ac turning it on/off. Turns the heated/cooled seats on/off. All of the controls in that panel are subject to these ghost touches. It's distracting when driving but also could be dangerous. Dealership Confirmed: The dealership has looked at it, analyzed it, and confirmed the issue. They see it frequently. Jeep customer service is kicks you to the dealer and the dealer kicks you to customer service. No resolution except to pay out of pocket for this manufacturing defect. Warnings or Symptoms: There was no warning that the delamination was going to occur. And it first happened at the end of 2024. My car is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

2018 Grand Cherokee....As you are aware of this already, the radio screen started delaminating and now the crystals are leaking out of he bottom of the screen. This in turn causes all the systems to go off and on at random, that can be controlled by the screen. All safety functions are now disabled due to this problem. Several attempts were made to contact the dealership and jeep customer care, only to be told that here is nothing they can do and to buy a new one. They also said there was no guarantee that the new radio wouldn't do the same thing. This is a top of the line high altitude grand cherokee that now doesn't have any of the safety features and comforts that i paid top dollar for. Jeep should honor their quality control issues but have been blowing everyone off. I have been on many forums and they are having the same issue. I got your website from one of the forums and can't believe that is has been a long time since they posted and you couldn't do anything about it so far. Have a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee that audio and, computer control screen is delaminating, causing erratic behavior of the stereo and other random controls like the heated seats turning on and off caused by the delamination of the screen shortly out of the manufacturer warranty of 36,000 miles and I took it to the dealership and they told me it was not covered under warranty and that I would have to pay for a new computer controlled screen I feel this is a safety concern because it can cause distracted driving
Oct 09, 2023
The computer screen (radio, climate control, back up camera, etc.) The screen has a mind of its own. It will go on and off by itself all the time. It changes the radio stations and climate control by itself. The back up camera will be on and then as we are baking up it goes out, or won't work at all. Its very dangerous and distracting for the driver. In contacting Jeep, they will not cover the cost to repair or replace. We even purchased an extended Certified Added Care Warranty when we purchased the Jeep and they won't cover it either.

Recall number 24V-838. My vehicle currently has a temporary tag/registration as it has not passed state-required safety inspection, directly related to the reason for the recall, a faulty HCU/ABS module. With this temporary tag expiring soon and no remedy for the recall, I will not be able to use my vehicle. I will not be able to get to work and home, I am not able to go grocery shopping, and the many other errands I take care of each week. In the meantime, my vehicle remains parked and unused. A vehicle that it is not used does fall apart. If there is no projection for finding a remedy, for how long is my vehicle going to be parked and not used? The lack of a remedy for this recall has become very real in my world. This is extremely frustrating because I love my Jeep, I truly do. Please advise when do you expect to have a remedy for this recall.

THE CALIPERS WERE "FROZEN", THE PADS WERE COMPLETELY GONE, AND ROTORS HAD EXTENSIVE WEAR AND LOCKED INTO PLACE AS WELL. THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS SHOWED MORE WEAR DUE TO WORKING OVERTIME WITH LACK OF REAR BRAKES. ONLY SIGN OF THIS PRIOR WAS IT WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN WHEN PLACED ON CRUISE CONTROL, OTHERWISE, FRONT BRAKES WERE BRAKING AND NO SOUNDS WERE BEING EMITTED. HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE PADS, ROTORS, AND BRAKE CALIPERS. UNSURE OF HOW LONG IT WAS IN THIS CONDITION. ONLY HAS 28,120 MILES ON IT.

8.4 inch screen in jeep is ghost touching buttons switching from different settings automatically. Screen will turn on and off different features automatically to include back up camera, climate control, radio and Bluetooth. This is a safety concern because it requires me to constantly turn on and off settings that it is automatically switching between. I have yet to take the vehicle into a dealer but have talked to the dealer and jeep customer service and they are aware of the issue due to its frequency. The vehicle has not been inspected yet but problem is common and dealer and manufacturer are aware of the issue from the many different cars with the problem. Prior to the screen automatically activating different features the screen had began to delaminate.

I was driving my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 on the highway at approximately 65-70 MPH, when suddenly the car started sputtering and my check engine light came on and started blinking. The car was essentially not drivable, so I pulled over at a gas station and had the car towed. This is dangerous as I was going uphill, and could have caused an accident, or worse. I did not have a check engine light prior to this! The next day the car was inspected and diagnosed by independent service center, who said there was a cylinder 4 engine misfire, so they replaced the spark plugs and the coils. Car was fixed, or so I thought, fast forward a couple months later while driving to work, same issue (misfires and sputtering) occurs again and coolant now runs low even though there are no visible signs of coolant leakage. I spoke to the independent service center and they mentioned there might be an issue with the engine such as a head gasket or fuel system. I got the Jeep towed to get checked, it was confirmed that it was an engine issue, especially the head gasket, camshaft, pistons, and lifters, and that I was going to need a new engine and it would cost between $8500 - 13000. My Jeep has approximately 83K miles. The issues I describe here with this engine are all similar to those that have been reported.

On our way to the grocery store, I turned onto the highway and began accelerating. Suddenly the engine shuts off and random messages pop up on the display. The "D" on the shift indicator was blinking telling me to put the vehicle into park to restart. Steering and braking were impaired as i tried to get the vehicle to the emergency lane. Numerous vehicles at highway speeds had to make rapid maneuvers to avoid hitting us. After coming to a stop and putting the vehicle in park, I restarted the vehicle. The engine light was now on and there were numerous messages coming up on the display. There were also random electrical occurrences as well, rear wiper running with switch in off position. This was a very dangerous situation. Had the individual behind us not had room to maneuver into the adjacent lane he would have impacted us for sure. This seems to be a known issue that needs to be addressed. As this incident just happened i have not a chance to contact a dealer yet. There was no warning prior to the incident. We have had no issues with this vehicle to this point save one, and I do not know if they are related or not. But randomly for a few months prior to this incident, the vehicles radio/control console would freeze up becoming totally unresponsive. It will eventually reboot itself and begin working again. Sometimes after one restart and other times it takes several restarts after varying lengths of time being frozen. The frequency of these occurrences seem to be increasing also. If this was just your radio controls it would be annoying enough, this is your control center for everything. Have not addressed this with the dealer yet as well. I will be contacting my nearest dealership this week.

Just purchased 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee from bulk dealer. The engine consistently stalls while in drive (at red lights, stop signs, intersections) causing safety issues and near MVAs. During stall, the AC continues to blow but air is not cold. The VIN# shows no unrepaired recalls, but the vehicle is behaving exactly as described in recall U87. It still has some time on warranty but I'm not sure how to proceed here. This is certainly unsafe.

The vehicle was towed to the residence, where a mobile independent mechanic diagnosed that the PCM had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact to take the vehicle to their location for diagnostic testing. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

AN ISSUE RELATING TO ELECTRICAL OR POWER TRAIN CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND REMAIN IN A NO START CONDITION. WITHOUT WARNING, THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY WITHOUT ELECTRICAL POWER WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE BECOMES UNABLE TO BE CONTROLLED. THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 9/2018, PURCHASED 12/18. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE AT A SPEED OF 45-55 MPH ON 5/31/18 AND AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AT 30-40 MPH ON A CITY STREET ON 10/18/19. BOTH OF THESE INCIDENTS WERE TERRIFYING AND THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE ONLY SERVICE THAT HAS BEEN PERFORMED (OIL CHANGES AND THESE TWO ISSUES) WAS COMPLETED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. BOTH TIMES THE VEHICLE FAILED, THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THAT THE MASTER FUSE WAS "BLOWN" AND THE REPLACED IT. THIS IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT I AM NOW FORCED TO PAY FOR AND DRIVE MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN AROUND IN NOT KNOWING WHEN IT WILL SHUT OFF AND I WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE OR MOVE FROM THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. WHEN CALLING THE MANUFACTURER, I WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL NUMBER U87 / NHTSA ID 18V524000 DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER ALTHOUGH THE DESCRIPTION IS EXACTLY THE SAME. THIS RECALL EXPLAINS THAT THE DEALER SHOULD REPLACE THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE BECAUSE IT MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH A VOLTAGE REGULATOR CHIP IN THE CIRCUIT BOARD THAT MAY FAIL CAUSING A STALL OR NO START CONDITION AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE A RISK OF CRASH. YET, THE DEALERSHIP IS UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE BECAUSE THE RECALL DOES NOT INCLUDE THIS VIN. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS ISSUE AND THIS IS MY ONLY RECOURSE UNTIL THE ISSUE HAPPENS TWO MORE TIMES, I SURVIVE BEING IN AN INOPERABLE MOVING VEHICLE AND CAN FILE FOR LEMON LAW RIGHTS.

HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR A LITTLE MORE THAN A YEAR. THREE TIMES I'VE HEARD GEAR GRINDING WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, I IMMEDIATELY PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PUT THE VEHICLE BACK INTO PARK WAITED A FEW SECONDS WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE BEFORE PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AGAIN. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOKED AT (CHECKED OUT) BUT BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T GET THE VEHICLE TO GRIND GEARS IN REVERSE THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND HAD ME PICK UP MY VEHICLE. ALSO WHILE DRIVING IT ON ONE OCCASION I SMELLED A SMELL OF ELECTRICAL BURNING. UNKNOWN WHERE IT IS COMING FROM ON MY VEHICLE. I'M GETTING FEARFUL OF DRIVING IT.

AFTER TURNING ON THE IGNITION AND PUTTING CAR INTO REVERSE THE REVERSE LIGHT FLASHES AND CAR WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE, SAME FOR PUTTING INTO DRIVE. ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. THIS PROBLEM ONLY LASTS FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN THE CAR CAN GO INTO REVERSE. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER THEY HAD IT FOR 4 DAYS AND COULD ONLY RECREATE THE PROBLEM ONCE. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE PRIOR TO BRINGING IT INTO THE DEALER. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY ELECTRICAL OR ENGINE ISSUES. I WAS TOLD TO BRING IT HOME AND WHEN IT LASTED TO LONGER THEN TO NOTIFY THEM. VERY DISCONCERTING!! HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR!

VISIBILITY/WIPER

My Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit was purchased new in 2018. I am the only owner and primary driver. In early 2020 I noticed some bubbling with the leather of the dashboard. It continued to bubble up a little at a time until today, November 7, 2023 it is so bubbled up that the delaminated leather blocks the air vent that defrosts my windsheild; blocks completely any possibility of warm air reaching the windshield wipers. In freezing weather conditions this becomes very dangerous. I was driving in a blizzard down the freeway with very low visibility. The only way I could see anything was to have the wipers going at full speed. Because they were not receiving any warm air from the defrost vents they froze up in the closed position and would not move. Due to freeway traffic and conditions I could not pull over but I could not see. I nearly rear ended a vehicle in front of me and could not see to trade lanes and try to pull off. I was able to roll down my window, grab and flip the wiper to get it moving WHILE DRIVING. My front passenger was able to do the same and we continued to drive this way with our windows down until we could pull off. Other drivers with functioning dashboards where the warm air was reaching the wiper area as intended were not having the same problem I was. The delaminated leather is also a problem because my windshield will not defog on the lower half and visibility can be very poor. This may not be as big a hazard but still is a hazard because of the reduced visibility.

ABOUT 47 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT OUTSIDE DROVE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES WITH INTERIOR TEMP SET TO 72 DEGREES DOWN A HIGHWAY. WINDOWS STARTED FOGGING UP SO TURNED ON THE DEFROST. HEARD A CRACK AND WINDOW CRACKED DOWN MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD ABOUT 10' SPREAD TO ABOVE THE MIRROR AND TURNED TOWARD DRIVER SIDE WINDOW. LATER SKIPPED ABOUT 2 INCHES AND STARTED AGAIN. BY 2 HOURS LATER CRACK SPREAD TO TOP OF WINDSHIELD AND ALMOST TO END OF DRIVER'S SIDE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, TWO WEEKS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED IN A SIMILAR SPOT ON THE WINDSHIELD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT IT WAS THE CONTACT'S FAULT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT STOP SIGNAL THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL POPPING SOUND AND NOTICED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOM O'BRIEN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM - INDIANAPOLIS (4630 E 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A ROCK HIT THE VEHICLE. BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY IS FULL BRIGHTNESS AT NIGHT AND NOT DIMMABLE. EFFECT OF FLASH BRIGHTNESS WHEN PLACING VEHICLE INTO REVERSE CAUSES TEMPORARY LIGHT BLINDNESS AS WELL AS REDUCES EXTERNAL VISIBILITY SUCH THAT MIRRORS AND VISUAL OBSERVATION ARE IMPAIRED SIGNIFICANTLY. IT IS NECESSARY TO MANUALLY COVER THE SCREEN WITH A SHIELD AS THE "SCREEN OFF" BUTTON WILL ALSO NOT TURN OFF THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAYED. OCCURS EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS PLACED IN REVERSE. I WAS THE FIRST OWNER TO MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE PURCHASED IN 2018. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS I STARTED GETTING A WARNING MESSAGE TO SERVICE THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM RIGHT AWAY. THE CAR WOULD THEN GET STUCK IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE OR OTHER MODE AND WOULD NOT RISE OR LOWER STATING I NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN (I WAS ALREADY DRIVING BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT) WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN PROPER HEIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES IN THE USA AND WHEN I MOVED TO GERMANY WITH THE ARMY. NOW I AM BACK IN THE USA AND MY CAR IS ONCE AGAIN AT THE DEALERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE IT APPEARS OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES. IS IT POSSIBLE TO LOOK INTO A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL AS THIS APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE 2018

THE AIR SUSPINSION HAS BEEN ACTIN UP SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW IN FEB 2018. IT WASNT TOO BAD SO I JUST LEFT IT ALONE AND DIDNT USE IT. LATER IT STARTED FLASHING A WARNNING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGWAY SPEED TO "SERVICE AIR SUSPISION IMMEDIATLEY." THE SUSPINSION WENT INTO "PARK/EXIT MODE" AND THE TRUCK DROPPED AND IT DROVE VERY ROUGH. I TRAILERED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY HAD IT 3 WEEKS. IT FAILED AS SOON AS I LEFT. NOW IT SEEMS STUCK IN OFF ROAD II MODE, BUT THE REAR IS HIGH AND FRONT IS LOW... ITS PITIFUL. I DO LOVE THE JEEP, BUT THIS IS GETTING AGGRIVATING. I'M TAKING IT BACK TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE READY FRO ME TO TRAVEL FOR CHRISTAMAS.
Dec 11, 2018
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT MADE A GRINDING SOUND. THEN A DASHBOARD MESSAGE POPPED UP STATING THAT THE AIR SUSPENSION NEEDED SERVICING IMMEDIATELY. THIS SAME MESSAGE APPEARED EVERY TIME WE STARTED THE CAR. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING, ANOTHER DASHBOARD MESSAGE POPPED UP INSTRUCTING TO REDUCE SPEED TO MAINTAIN PROPER VEHICLE HEIGHT.

Dear National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, I'm writing to report a critical safety concern regarding the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee's water pump design. As an owner, I've experienced persistent coolant leaks, which I've found is a widespread issue affecting many others. This problem stems from a fundamental design flaw in the water pump, not typical wear and tear. The issue centers on a small "freeze plug" that leaks when the engine reaches operating temperature. This plug serves no apparent purpose and causes premature failures and coolant leaks across numerous vehicles. Key points: The leak occurs consistently when the engine is hot, indicating a design-related problem. This issue potentially leads to engine overheating and severe damage. It affects many vehicles, particularly those with the 3.6L V6 engine. Extensive research on online forums confirms this is a common problem. A YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73MgJF4bx5o) provides insight into the issue. The creator states: "Upon digging into this a bit deeper, I don't believe it's the 'weep hole'. It's actually like a small 'freeze plug' that leaks on these pumps. If you look through the pulley at the opposite side of the aluminum freeze plug that leaks, you will see the weep hole. This 'freeze plug' that leaks serves no purpose as far as I see it. It's just like they slapped this plug in the front of the pump… and it leaks when it gets hot." Given this evidence of a design flaw and its widespread impact, I urge NHTSA to: Investigate the water pump design of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and similar models. Assess the safety implications, including the risk of engine overheating and potential vehicle failures. Consider whether a recall or other corrective action is necessary. The fact that this is a design issue rather than wear-and-tear underscores its urgency. All vehicles with this water pump design are potentially at risk, regardless of mileage or maintenance history. Thank you

Starting around February 23 after about 10 minutes into driving. The hot temperature lamp would show up . I pull over an it was always empty of coolant I had done that few times within one week. I also didn’t use air conditioning for a few weeks left . An it was ok for few weeks. Then I noticed smoke coming out back pipes . Send to first reipair shop. They found Coolant in a combustion chamber They told me I should send to Jeep shop .

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 55,575 miles was parked in a parking garage all day in Brooklyn NY and when the vehicle was move to the front of the garage by parking attendants the engine started smoking and caught fire. There were no leaks, dashboard symbols or open recalls to cause the fire; additionally the car was linked to a iPhone App CarRx that can scan for any issue and no issue noted. This engine fire not only put all of the other vehicles in the park garage at risk of catching fire but the parking garage sits under a luxury apartment building putting the working and residents at risk. Additionally I commute between Brooklyn and NJ 3x a week and cant imagine what would have happened if I was driving the vehicle over the Brooklyn Bridge, on the Brooklyn Queens Express or in the Holland Tunnel during high commuter rush hour traffic. Car was checked out by a Jeep Dealership who confirm fire was not caused by any leaks or electrical issue but did mentioned it seems to have started around the engine air cleaner. The current status of the issue has been an open investigation with Jeep Corporate for going on the 3rd week with no communication or updates on status. The entire issue and fire from pulling into the garage to the when the car was moved to it smoking and catching fire is all documented on security video.

The vehicle stalled while driving on a busy road. It sounded like it couldn’t shift gears. It also accelerated once I tried to move it to a safer location on the side of the road. It was very scary not knowing if I could get out of the stalling situation in the middle of traffic. The unexpected acceleration upon trying to park it safely was also terrifying.

THIS SUV HAS THE ENERGY EFFICIENT SHUTDOWN/RESTART FEATURE. AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, I RE-ENGAGED THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION BY LIFTING MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND BEGAN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. THERE WAS VERY LITTLE POWER TO ACCELERATE, YOU COULD HEAR THE GRINDING AND PULLING OF THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION BUT ONLY A LITTLE POWER. I PUT ON THE EMERGENCY HAZARD LIGHTS, LOOKED AROUND THE DASH FOR MESSAGES AND VERIFIED THAT THE GEAR WAS INDEED IN DRIVE. I CONTINUED TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO MOVE THE TRUCK OUT OF TRAFFIC. I MADE IT TO A DRIVEWAY WHERE I COULD PULL OFF OF THE MAIN STREET AND NOT BLOCK THE MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK, LOOKED AT EVERYTHING AGAIN (NO WARNINGS OR ERROR MESSAGES) AND PUT THE TRUCK IN GEAR AND IT MOVED AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO DO. I MADE IT BACK TO THE STREET, WENT A SHORT DISTANCE (LESS THAN 2 BLOCKS), STARTED TO GO UP A SMALL HILL AND THE NO POWER ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS LESS THAN A BLOCK AWAY FROM MY DESTINATION, SO I S-L-O-W-L-Y MADE IT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL. I PARKED IN MY OFFICE'S GARAGE, REPORTED TO WORK AND CONTEMPLATED WHAT TO DO. I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK SINCE THE END OF JUNE AND IT HAS ONLY 1,100 MILES. I WILL BE DROPPING IT OFF/TOWING IT IN TO THE DEALER REPAIR SHOP TOMORROW. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND NOT ACCEPTABLE JEEP!

The glue of the dashboard has caused the leather on the dashboard to bubble on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I brought it to the jeep dealership, and they said it happens all the time from the sun. Its a known defect, but its not covered by the extended warranty. They said they have had recalls on this in the past with other years and models, but not this year/model yet. I reached out to Jeep Cares and Chrysler, but neither will help.

The bolt that holds the liftgate motor on top snapped in half with trying to open. I used the button on the remote to open the lift gate. I heard a loud pop noise as it was trying to open then when I finally got it open I noticed the bolt was snapped in half. Luckily the bolt broke going up not down. If it had broken going down it could have landed on my head or one of my kids. I have reported it to the jeep dealership where I purchased my vehicle from a little over a year ago. There was no warnings prior to opening the hatch. I did some research to see if this has happen to other people and it has. Some people where not as lucky as me and had it fall on there head. The website i found this at was [XXX] and then found out the dodge durango has the same issue and the website for that is [XXX] I really hope this gets fixed and recalled before people start getting injured. It is such a small bolt for a heavy door. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have two Jeep Grand Cherokees ([XXX] and [XXX]) with the leather wrapped dash. Like many others, the leather is peeling up and wrinkling, raising into the field of view of the windshield and I’m also concerned with how this might affect air bag deployment on the passenger side of the vehicle. I know of at least 15 others online experiencing this issue and they get the same run around from Jeep. The dealer looks at it with a $130 diagnostic fee, then tell you it’s not covered. Leather dash is delaminating. You issues service/recall repair for 2011-2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 2019 for same issue. This has not been resolved issue is all over the internet and owners are furious with fca for not fixing the issue. Seems to happen just outside of warranty around 42000-60000 miles. Mine was at 42500. I don’t know what to do. This is getting into my lower part of windshield impeding my vision outside my windshield. The service/recall needs to be extended to include subsequent vehicles with leather dash boards. From 2014-present.

STEERING
5 complaints
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - Power steering failed while driving with family in vehicle including pregnant wife and toddler. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The power steering turned off while driving and has been deemed defective. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the dealership confirmed it’s a rack and pinion issue and they are out of stock and on back order. I’m not the only one experiencing this. They also can’t fix my car without a part. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The dealership inspected it. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. The jeep only has 55000 miles on it. I take care of my cars. This issue is known and the part is $2000 not including labor. I want my car fixed and I can’t get it fixed. I rely on this vehicle for my family. They can’t order the part nor find it. I am stuck without power steering. Not by choice.

CONDITIONS PRECEDING EVENTS INCLUDE: 1) FROM A STOP TO MOVING AFTER TURNING, USUALLY 90 DEGREES, BUT NOT ALWAYS, 2) DRY ASPHALT PAVEMENT, AND 3) SOMETIMES AFTER A ROAD DIP. PLEASE NOTE THAT OTHER CONDITIONS MAY CONTRIBUTE/CAUSE EVENT, BUT THE THREE EVENTS I'VE EXPERIENCED, WERE UNDER CONDITIONS STATED ABOVE. VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 16,000 MILES WHEN THE LAST EVENT OCCURRED, AND MORE THAN 7,000 MILES BEFORE FIRST EVENT. FIRST OCCURRENCE WHILE FLAT TOWING WAS AFTER MORE THAN 3,000 MILES OF VEHICLE BEING TOWED. THE YOU TUBE VIDEO ( HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=FWGUAJAEECI) ACCURATELY REPRESENTS MY EXPERIENCE. I AM USING ROADMASTER'S STERLING TOW BAR WITH AN AIR FORCE ONE (SMI) SUPPLEMENTAL BRAKING SYSTEM. THE TOW BAR GEOMETRY AND PROPORTIONAL BRAKING SYSTEM ARE SETUP ACCORDING TO OEM REQUIREMENTS, I HAVE OWNED FIVE JEEP GC'S (2012 AND EARLIER) AND HAVE FLAT-TOWED THESE WITHOUT ISSUE. PER THE ASSISTANT EDITOR AT FMCA, FCA HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE IN THE 2016 AND NEWER GC'S WITH ELECTRIC STEERING, AFTER RECOGNIZING THE ISSUE IN THE CHEROKEE MODEL AFTER THAT MODEL'S CONVERSION TO ELECTRIC STEERING. I HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED AN ACCIDENT AND HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED DAMAGED EQUIPMENT YET, HOWEVER, LATERAL G-FORCES ARE SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO LIKELY CAUSE SIGNIFICANT FUTURE COMPONENT FAILURE.

I have been without a vehicle for over 5 months. Paying on a vehicle that I cannot even get out of the garage. Paying storage insurance on a vehicle. There is a major issue with camshafts right now. I have had the spark plugs changed, coils, oil and I was waiting on the camshaft which is on back order for who knows how long. This needs to be addressed and recalled. With the amount being over 14,000 parts on back order I think this should be recalled. Even people who have had the camshaft fixed are still having engine issues with the 3.6L. Please do something about this, I have put so much money into this and I need a vehicle. At 75,000 miles this should not be happening.

ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Three concerns: (1) the engine light is on. mechanics cannot determine why. (2) the car has trouble starting. When I park indoors, the car doesn't start. The engine turns over several times and the RPM goes all the way up, but the car will not start until the 3rd or 4th try. mechanics cannot determine why. (3) when I pump gas, the fuel pump automatically shuts off even though the gas tank is not full. So I have to hold the pump in place and use the gas gauge to determine when the tank is full. mechanics have seen this problem in other jeeps but haven't given me a reason why.

Both episodes occurred abruptly, engine idling extremely rough, then shutting down within seconds, leaving the car completely inoperable. Both episodes were very dangerous as the car could barely coast to the shoulder of the highway for safety of the passengers. The first episode occurred when the car was a few months old, gas gauge showing over 1/4 tank of diesel gas. Car was towed to the Jeep dealership where they claimed that the car simply ran out of diesel (despite the gas gauge indication) no repair "was required", car filled with several gallons of diesel and OBD codes reset by the dealer, car then ran normally . The second episode occurred one week ago. Again driving at highway speed, 5 lane highway, over 1/4 of diesel remaining on the gauge, sudden violent engine running, sudden full loss of function of the vehicle, nearly in an accident simply trying to " limp " to an emergency stop on the road shoulder. Car required towing to our residence. with the prior experience at the Jeep dealer, despite gauge reading of greater 1/4 tank, the car was filled with 5 gallons of diesel, car started normally. All OBD fault codes insufficient fuel to the engine, fuel rail, fuel pressure, etc. The car has run normally since. I contacted my Jeep dealership and they stated they have no knowledge of any similar issues with this Jeep Diesel engine. The internet and Jeep car forums are filled with identical Diesel engine problems. Either related to faulty fuel pressure regulation or some design fault with fuel level indication affecting the safe operation of this Jeep Diesel engine. these problems date back to pre 2008. We now feel very unsafe to drive this relatively new 2018 Jeep Diesel Grand Cherokee at highway speeds without hovering near the shoulder lane of the road.

The alternator is pulling from the battery draining it and at 9.5 volts the car will go into safety mode where it doesn’t turn off but it won’t drive neither which actually happened to me on Saturday in the middle of the street luckily no car hit mines and the police helped me move it out the road. I complained to CArMax Kearny mesa the previous Friday and instead of them putting me in a loaner car and towing the vehicle they scheduled me for an appointment Monday (today) at 9:30am and never held up their end and I’ve been carless ever since and they had my car for 6 months fixing this same problem I’m having today .

There are numerous safety issues with this vehicle. The most concerning is electrical/fuel/engine relating to the TIPM. The vehicle intermittently refuses to start. The integrated fuel pump relay in the TIPM fails. This has left my wife stranded in potentially dangerous areas. It has also died while the vehicle was in motion. In addition to the TIPM issues, the digitizer of the factory radio/navigation system has delaminated from the LCD screen. The safety issues this causes are multiple: random phone calls while driving (distracting), random radio station changes (again, distracting to a driver), and an inability to properly utilize navigation (potentially dangerous if it tries to change a route and indicates last-second turns). It also prevents the driver from calling someone if they are in need of help. Not only does hands-free calling not work, but even when taking out the phone to dial, the haywire behavior of the device being connected via bluetooth makes calls difficult. These are known issues by the Jeep dealer with frequent warranty replacements admitted by the advisor and technician, yet they have been zero assistance in helping because the vehicle is out of warranty. It will require action from someone like the NHTSA to get Jeep to correct these problems for many owners. It is criminal to charge people this amount of money for a vehicle that simply doesn't do what it is supposed to do.

SIMILAR TO MULTIPLE REVIEWS POSTED HERE, 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING. AS OF THIS DATE 12.18.2019 I HAVE EXPERIENCED MY CAR SHUTTING OFF ENTIRELY AT STREET TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS (25-65 MPH) BEING UNABLE TO RESTART MULTIPLE TIMES (5). AS A PART OF RESTARTING THE VEHICLE ONE IS PROMPTED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND ACTIVATE BY PUSHING THE START/STOP. - COUPLE OF ISSUES THERE 1) YOU HAVE TO SOMEHOW MANAGE TO GET YOUR VEHICLE OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET/HIGHWAY WHICH LIKELY WONT HAPPEN. 2) WHEN YOU REALIZE YOU CANT GET INTO A SAFE AREA AND PUT YOUR CAR IN PARK TO ATTEMPT RESTART, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESTART AT ALL. THIS LEAVES YOU AND YOUR VEHICLE COMPLETELY STRANDED AND LOCKED OUT. PUTTING PERSONAL SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF EVERYONE ELSE IN A HIGHLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AND THEN THE COPS COME TELL YOU THEY WILL TOW YOU AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE. - I HAVE BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO JUMP THE VEHICLE ALL OF THE TIMES I HAVE BEEN STRANDED. LET ME BE THE FIRST TO TELL YOU THAT TWO CARS STOPPED DEAD IN THE MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY PERFORMING A JUMP IS 100% A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. NOW, THE VEHICLE ALSO LIKES TO DECIDE THAT IT JUST DOESN'T WANT TO START AT ERRATIC INTERVALS. I HAVE NOW 3 TIMES EXPERIENCED MY VEHICLE JUST FLAT OUT NOT STARTING.ONCE RIGHT IN THE MORNING AT WORK, ONCE AT WORK TRYING TO GO FOR LUNCH AND THE FINAL TIME BEING AT LUNCH. IT'S BECOME PAINFULLY CLEAR THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS WRONG AND THEY ARE NOW SENDING ME OUT ON LABRAT EXCURSIONS HOPING THEY FIXED AN ISSUE THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY. THEY ARE DOING THIS KNOWING FULL WELL THAT THE COST OF FAILURE COULD END UP BEING MY LIFE.

AS I TURNED INTO A GAS STATION AFTER DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED OUT. I LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE DASH BEGAN FLASHING PUT VEHICLE IN PARK TO START. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN RESTART IT. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROX 3800 MILES ON IT WITH A FRESH OIL CHANGE FROM THE DEALERSHIP, FRONTIER DODGE. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RAN FINE.

The 2018 Jeep Grand Cheeroke Uconnect/Radio screen delaminates and causes the unit to make all kinds of error calls, GPS location changes and disabling events, without being touched. This is a serious safety concern and that Jeep or Stellantis should voluntarily recall these units for replacement. The driver's attention gets constantly divided to take care of these extra things while driving.

The vehicle was misdiagnosed multiple times and sent back home with the same error code while fixing other items that were not the root cause of the issue. The engine light was on with the misfire code when I brought it in and was repeatedly sent home and within 20 miles the same code returned.

The stop/start feature on my Jeep has just stopped working. The battery has been checked and rechecked and replaced. It doesn't work. The biggest problem now is the 8.4 touchscreen display that malfunctions. The GPS is connected to this along with the radio and backup camera. Other features include the phone, climate control, and other functions. The phone will randomly select contacts I am not trying to call, and the GPS will randomly set locations I am not trying to go. The screen will jump from one application to another which is extremely distracting while driving. I've tried turning the screen off completely but this isn't helpful if I'm actually using my navigation. It's dangerous.

The 2018 grand Cherokee has issues with mother board and electrical ghosts. 1st it was headlights and dome lights. they would flicker. i had to change the front lights 2x in a year. i thought this was odd. never did this with any car before. then I was driving home from work during rush hour and it started to rain. started the wipers front and back. the back wiper started and went halfway and got stuck. what happen? the front wipers went on for several revolutions (say 10-20 ) then stopped. started again. then stopped again. the rain intensity grew. Now the -wipers would only work when turned in opposite direction (the manual 1 pass move). this happened as i was trying to get home and stuck bumper to bumper on [XXX] . on this dangerous highway in middle of now a torrential downpour the front wipers now decided it wouldn't work AT ALL. i couldn't see anything and veered off to the shoulder thank god - waiting for rain to stop and then safely proceeded home. the next day the wipers worked. no check engine or anything. this goes on for a week or so with no issue. then out of nowhere the driver seat decides it has a mind of its own and pushes me all the way to the steering column. it wouldn't return when pushing the back button. i had to drive like that for my trip and then it magically went back upon restart. i take to dealer. pump motors bad on front and back. i say not sure your correct and explain. motor changed on front. not fixed. ok we think its the BCM. changed not fixed. finally the PDM was changed and wow it worked. 2 weeks at dealer and this shows that this issue with the control module is certainly risking peoples safety. i hope Jeep does the right thing and prevents a serious catastrophic event. read on the jeep electric issues and my vehicle had a previous "corrected" recall for Electrical Cruise Control. I dont think the fireware updates or software changes fixed all the bugs. be safe out there jeep INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Radio screen delamination, causing heating/defrost/seats/clock reset/radio channels cycling quickly, lack of navigation on screen. Very distracting when traveling/trying to reach the hospitals. At first it was very distracting while traveling, and didn't allow me to use any features/controls, and could've easily took my eyes off the road and have an accident. I can't use the radio when I need to, for certain situations, not just entertainment but location as I travel with work at times, and my wife and I both frequent hospitals with my heart issues and her lower GI issues. It just started appearing late in July 2023 and you can see something under the radio screen as if its a sticker/protective cover on the radio and it looks like its separating from the inside. I have it going into the shop for diagnosis 11/29/2023 but it is continually getting worse to where I can't use the radio/nav/comfort features at all and need to for our safety/travel, and winter is rapidly approaching.

My Jeep started skipping through screens on the display randomly in August 2022, but since has increasingly doing it nearly everyday now. There is a visible big “drip” look on the screen in the top right corner. The screen now will call contacts on my phone and has also activated the SOS calls 4-5 times. I have to drive without connecting my phone to stop the inadvertent calls but the screens continue to flip through on its own. This is very frustrating and distracting while driving and the obnoxious ding it makes with each switch. The seat warmers flipping on constantly is also very distracting when the high setting is hot enough to make me hop to prevent injury and pain.

2 Issue Related to Electrical/Lights: 1) The touch screen has delaminated. This started a while ago (appx. 2020) and was only an aesthetic issue until very recently. Appx. 3 months ago (3/2023) the screen started to have a "ghost button" where different things were being pressed. For example, music changed, seat warmers turned on/off, etc. The most dangerous of these issues was a dark screen turning bright, which can be blinding at night. Definitely a safety issue since some of the essential controls of the car are done here. 2) The "auto" high beams have stopped working (appx. 5/2023). They turn on when held with the "flashing" method, but when put into auto (where they stay on) they do not work. Certainly a safety concern.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Front left blinker failed, front right headlight failed, both at the same time. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Both failed and now there is no blinker or headlight to drive safely at night or in inclement weather. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the auto shop confirmed on 1/17/23. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. The failure occurred on 1/14/23, car would not start at all. On 1/15/23 I went back to start it again and it started, tried to drive away and the car shut off on me while driving. The car then began to honk randomly, all the wipers went off, and the lights started flickering. I turned the car off completely and tried ot turn it back on and the car would not start again and also the front left blinker was now completely not working and the front left headlight is completely out. There is a warning on my car for the front left blinker but not for the front right headlight.

The car computer screen was malfunctioning and then failed. All internal system lights warning lamps and service messages appeared and continued flashing until the battery died. I am attempting to get a dealer to inspect the vehicle. Vehicle has intermittently run; concern there could be a fire. Vehicle has left me stranded. Symptoms of the problem were failures with the vehicle entertainment system. Software would not update. Radio would not hold stations and the GPS showed the vehicle in a different area greatly distant from where it actually was. Took vehicle in for this service when the problems compounded.

Screen first started delaminating after 2 years / 18000 miles, but remained functioning so didn't act at the time. This week (3.5 years / 31000 m) while on a roadtrip the touch screen started randomly 'pushing' options on the screen. It started heating the seats, dialled 911 and started changing the navigation, all while I was on the highway with no way to exit. Had to make an emergency stop alongside the highway where it was not safe to stop but could not disable the screen or stop it from dialing random phone numbers. Had to break off my vacation and turn back home. Car is now in the shop (Jeep Kearny Mesa San Diego) for diagnosis. Service specialist tells me it could be a 3000 dollar repair out of pocket. I bought this car new at this dealership, but if this is not covered I'll not buy FCA again.

HAD ISSUES WHEN STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION. THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO DIE & WAS VERY DELAYED WHEN STARTING TO GO AGAIN-REQUIRED MORE PRESSURE ON GAS PEDAL THAN USUAL. HAD ISSUES WHILE FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL. SEVERAL TIMES THE PUMP WOULD CUT OFF (APPROXIMATELY 10 TIMES) INDICATING THAT THE TANK WAS FULL WHEN I KNEW IT WASN'T. I STOPPED TO FUEL UP IN ORDER TO RETURN THE RENTAL VEHICLE TO BUDGET RENTAL CAR (865 W MOKUEA PL, KAHULUI, HI, 96732), I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, PUSHED THE BUTTON TO STOP THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF THE MOTOR. EXITED THE VEHICLE TO GET THE CREDIT CARD OUT OF MY PURSE WHICH WAS IN THE BACK ON THE FLOOR BOARD IN A BEACH BAG I SAW THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ROLLING BACK. THERE WAS NO SLOPE TO THE PARKING LOT, IT WAS LEVEL GROUND. I JUMPED BACK IN THE VEHICLE WITH LEFT FOOT OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO STOP IT, IT WENT OUT OF CONTROL BACKWARDS. THANKFULLY I GOT MY LEFT FOOT IN AND HAD TO USE BOTH FEET ON THE BREAK TO STOP THE VEHICLE. PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK & TURNED IT OFF AGAIN.THE DOOR & DRIVER FRONT QUARTER PANEL SUSTAINED SEVERE DAMAGE FROM HITTING THE GAS PUMP WHICH ALSO RECEIVED DAMAGE. ALTHOUGH THE PUMP WAS IN WORKABLE CONDITION ONCE THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED & WAS MOVED. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE BODILY DAMAGE TO MYSELF AS WELL AS MORE VEHICLE & BODILY DAMAGE IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN BEHIND ME AT THE NEXT PUMP. AFTER HAVING MY JEEP BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALER ROUGHLY ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. WE BOUGHT OUR JEEP FROM AUTONATION IN SPRING, TX. WE LIVE IN GALVESTON COUNTY SO WHEN IT TURNED ON WE TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE FOR THE FREE CODE CHECK - THE CODE READ WAS P20E8 AND IT JUST SAID EMISSIONS CODE. NO SPECIFIC READOUT WAS AVAILABLE FOR THE CODE DETECTED. THE EXACT JEEP WE OWN IS A 2018 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE SERLING EDITION ECODIESEL. WE DID NOTICE THAT THE DEF FLUID WAS NOT PROPERLY FILLED TO THE FULL LEVEL UPON THE PURCHASE SO FIGURED IT COULD IN RELATION TO THAT. WE DROVE BACK UP TO SPRING TO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM THE ISSUE AND THEY SAID OK GOT US IN A RENTAL AND THEN WOULD CALL US AS SOON AS IT WAS READY. ONCE WE PICKED IT UP IT WE ASKED WHAT WAS THE CAUSE FOR THE CODE AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID 'OH WELL IT WAS NOTHING - JUST SOMETHING THAT WE FORGOT TO TURN OFF'. ON THE WAY HOME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN COMES BACK ON THE DASH. WE STOP BY ANOTHER JEEP DEALER IN THE WAY HOME AND INQUIRED WITH THEM WHAT THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE AND THEY SAID 'THAT WHATEVER THE DEALERSHIP TOLD YOU CANNOT BE TRUE'. THEN BILL OR SERVICE OR RECEIPT SAID CHECK ENGINE LIGHT P20E8 WAS FOUND DEF PUMP LOW PRESSURE FAULT IS STORED, FOUND TANK LOW WITH LESS THAN 2 INCHES OF FLUID IN TAKE, FOUND VEHICLE WAS NOT TOPPED OFF WHEN PURCHASED, ADDED DEF TO TANK AND CLEARED CODES AND VERIFIED PROPER DEF FLUID PRESSURES AT INJECTOR. THE LIGHT REMAINS ON TWO DAYS LATER AND NOW A MESSAGE POPS ON MY DASH AND SAID 'DEF SYSTEM PROBLEMS SEE DEALER'. NORMALLY I WOULD NOT BE SO UPSET BUT THIS A BRAND NEW CAR THE DEALER (NOT MENTIONED) WAS NOT EXACTLY HELPFUL DROPPING OFF OR RECEIVING THE VEHICLE BACK WITH ANY KIND OF HELPFUL INFORMATION. I LOVE MY CAR AND JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE IT CAN BE PROPERLY FIXED SO I HOPEFULLY DO NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY SAFETY OR THE INTEGRITY OF MY CAR.

I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee on [XXX] unaware that the vehicle was subject to a federal safety recall and stop-sale order. The recall (NHTSA 24V-838 / Manufacturer 94B) was issued on November 7, 2024, for a defect in the ABS control module that may disable the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and cause unintended vehicle movement even while stationary. A stop-sale order (VIR 2024-11-14) was issued by Stellantis on November 14, 2024, prohibiting the sale or delivery of affected vehicles until repaired. Despite this, the dealership sold me the vehicle while the recall was still open and unrepaired. In the months following my purchase, I began experiencing issues with the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). On June 15, 2025, I paid $770 out-of-pocket for ETC sensor repairs after a loss of throttle response. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but this defect may be linked to the broader electronic issues cited in the recall. No warning lights appeared in advance. I have been driving this vehicle daily without knowing it could malfunction in a way that puts myself and others at risk. I only learned of the recall on June 22, 2025, when I searched the VIN through NHTSA’s database. This has caused emotional distress, financial harm, and a complete loss of trust in the vehicle’s safety. I am seeking appropriate accountability for the illegal sale of this recalled vehicle and want to ensure others are not put in similar danger. While driving, all the light on the dashboard come on. When this happens the speedometer is not working the windshield wipers come on. The emergency brake light is on, the car shifts out of gear and the turning signals don't work and the hazard lights won't work. This is all happening at the same time. I'm unable to inform people on the road that I'm in distress because my hazard light won't work I don't know how fast or slow I'm going. I can't inform the people on the road that I want to change lanes. Then after a while all the lights on the dashboard would go out and the check engine light would remain on for maybe two days and than go out. This problem has been going on since January I have paid thousands of dollars attempting to get this problem fixed. My car has been back and forth to the same Chrysler central Ave dealership where I purchased my 2018 jeep grand Cherokee to which I'm still paying for.

I bought a 2018 jeep grand Cherokee limited on July 1,2024. A week after owning the vehicle the jeep kept shutting off while driving on the interstate and the dash said “ put in P and push to start” none of the hazard lights came on. It just automatically shut off in the middle of traffic multiple times and when put into park and tried to restart it would take several attempts. This is unsafe and I’m lucky I did not get into an accident since the vehicle is just turning off while I’m driving on a busy highway not to mention almost getting into an accident since I’m given no warning. I dropped off my jeep at the dealership and they have had it for two weeks stating they can not find any issues with the vehicle. This is frustrating and scary and do not even feel comfortable driving a the jeep that I owned for one week. I have read several complaints in the same issue and k won’t seems to be able to find what is causing this issue.

I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee in the end of February 2021 with approx. 52,000 miles on it. All work done to it after this point has been under warranty with me paying all of the deductibles for the warranty work. A couple of weeks after purchase, the problems began. It was overheating, white steam coming out of my exhaust pipes, vibrating very badly, shutting down at traffic lights, amongst other symptoms. As of now, the dealership has replaced 3 new water pumps, and 2 new cylinder heads (both times were issues with the 3rd cylinder). This go round, it’s now back in the shop with another misfire with cylinder 3. The dealership has also replaced the EGR Cooler, Ignition Coil, Motor Mounts, Coolant Flush, Lifters & Rockers & it is still in the shop. All repairs done by the same shop (different technicians throughout the past year and a half). I thought it might qualify under the lemon law and called an attorney who asked me some questions but said that it does not qualify in my state under the Lemon Law because it’s now past the 60,000 milestone. It now has approximately 85,000 miles on it. I have been without a vehicle approximately 6 months out of the past year and a half and multiple rental car fees (though the dealership absorbed the majority of the fees when it was in the shop this past June/July). A few of the reasons all of this is most upsetting to me: - My daughter and I have broken down on the side of a busy interstate twice (once in the middle of the night) and had to try to get off of the interstate safely so we could be towed - I have been faithfully paying my 'new-to-me' car note ever since I bought it but haven't had much of a chance to drive my 'new' vehicle - My daughter recently got her driver's permit & can't learn how to drive as we are in a rental & it is against the rental company policy to allow anyone else to drive their vehicles. - I have had to take off of work MANY hours due to this This is holding up our lives!

At around 66,861 miles my car started to do a weird shaking, slowing down on highway, rattling, and missing. I brought to dealer and they stated I needed an EGR valve replacement. This was done yet the code did not reset and the problem happened again. Now, I’m told well my vehicle needs an egr cooler!??? What is this? And why was this not communicated to me before I had the work done. Also, why would this malfunction so fast. This was July 18, 2022. There are no recalls but there should be with this happening so soon? I have children and this is scary on the highway.

You cannot get into any of the apps that change the braking system or change the heat settings (like defrost) It just jumps back to do you want to adjust the clock. Sometimes the screen just goes off completely. Looks like the screen is delaminating. You can see the bubble underneath.

THE GOODYEAR TIRES HAVE LITTLE TREAD LEFT AFTER 14,000 MILES. ALSO, THE KEVLAR GOODYEAR ARE HIGHLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO PENETRATION BY STAPLES. STAPLES! I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT NO TIRE IS IMPERVIOUS TO NAILS BUT I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT WITH KEVLAR THESE TIRES SHOULD BE ABLE TO STOP A STAPLE. I GUESS NOT. PROBABLY THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE IS THE LACK OF TRACTION ON THE TIRES. THEY ARE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE IN THE RAIN. UNSAFE ACTUALLY. THESE TIRES NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM THE MARKET.

My pre-owned 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 Trailhawk is unsafe and unreliable because the vehicle ** would not start ** on three occasions within 18 months of ownership. Also, the "auto start" feature on the key fob works intermittently. Thankfully, I was in safe locations when the problems occurred, but two of those locations were in public, away from home. Also, the dashboard has indicator lights that come on randomly such as engine or start/stop or "check air suspension" or check ABS. The dealer has not been able to find or diagnose the problem, yet I keep paying out of pocket fees. My problems would occur with no warning, so there would be no time to get help. I contacted Chrysler on 8/8/22 and they were no help; they just directed me back to a dealer to pay another out-of-pocket diagnostic fee. They expressed no concern for my safety, did not acknowledge my frustration, and said a supervisor was not available to speak to me. All recall work was completed prior to my owning the vehicle. I do not trust my own vehicle and I need to travel frequently through desolate and arduous terrain. I am likely going to get rid of the vehicle because (1) I don't trust Chrysler or government systems to help me in the timeframe that I need help, (2) I need to do my job and have a peace of mind, and (3) I need to know that I and my family will be safe.

Driving about 45mph down the road and car in front of me suddenly stops. I immediately hit the brakes and had plenty of space to stop but truck wouldn't stop and brake pedal went all the way down to floor and I rear ended the car in front of me. It wasn't snowing, raining nor was the road wet but it was a cold day. Not sure why it didn't stop looking back on it felt like if there was air bubbles in the brake line which caused a delay in stopping, also remember feeling antilock brakes engaging and automatic emergency stop not braking for me when I was close to other vehicle.

WHILE USING THE ACC FUNCTION AND SETTING FORWARD DISTANCE AT ANY LENGTH THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU SLOWS, STOPS,,OR TURNS MY VEHICLE WILL BRAKE ON ITS OWN. HOWEVER, WHILE BRAKING DURING THE MENTIONED OPERATION THE BIG PROBLEM IS THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WITH SOMEONE NEARLY RUNNING INTO THE BACK OF MY VEHICLE DURING THE USE OF THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL (ACC). THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE NOW FULLY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED DURING THE ACC HAZARDOUS EXAMINATION PHASE. A VERY SIMPLE FIX WOULD BE TO INSTALL AN I/P SWITCH IN THE BRAKE LINE AT THE MASTER CYLINDER SO THAT THE PRESSURE FROM THE ACC APPLYING THE BRAKES SENDS THE PNEUMATIC SIGNAL TO AN ELECTRICAL SIGNAL THAT LIGHTS UP THE BRAKE LIGHTS. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD ABSOLUTELY HAVE BEEN CAUGHT AND ADDRESSED DURING THE DESIGN PHASE. I FOUND OUT WHEN I ASKED A SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT IT AND HE SAID THE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON. HE ALSO SAID THEY KNOW ABOUT IT.

I purchased my 2018 Jeep Cherokee right off the dealership lot in Lynnfield MA in August of 2018. I then have had on going issues. Starting with strange squilling sound coming from back of vehicle, this was never found reason by technician but they replaced engine air filter jume 2020, then my heater wasn’t working in dec.2020, replaced motor blower with wheel, then may2021 my vehicle just shut down as I was driving on the highway to work at night no prior warnings beforehand, lucky no one was hurt towed in and no start and transmission was stuck no fuel pressure, dtc related and shorted fuel pump. Replaced module fuel pump level unit. Now just October 29,2021 my vehicle is not starting I jumped the battery and lights come on but vehicle won’t start. Dealership I purchased vehicle from won’t contact me back so I towed the vehicle to them and still no response. I’m very disappointed in Jeep I don’t feel safe or that my vehicle is not dependable and for all the money I keep putting into it I should have a dependable car.

I HAVE A FEW OCCURRENCES TO TELL ABOUT. 1. WHEN TAKING IT THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH CAR WASH IT WAS PROPELLED FORWARD AT AN UNSAFE SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEUTRAL BUT STILL WAS SHOT FORWARD AND THE BRAKES HAD TO BE APPLIED QUICKLY. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. 2. AFTER COMING OFF A FREEWAY AND COMING TO THE FIRST STOPLIGHT, WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER HIT 0 THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. I TURNED THE AUTO STOP OFF AND PROCEED DOWN THE ROAD. WHEN I HIT THE NEXT STOPLIGHT, IT DID THE SAME THING, LURCHED FORWARD HARD, WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER HIT 0. 3. WHILE GETTING UP TO SPEED, 70, ON A FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO "MISS" GEARS AND IT LURCHED A FEW TIMES. 4. WHEN APPROACHING A TURN, AT SLOW A VERY SLOW SPEED, I TAPPED THE GAS FOR A LITTLE MORE SPEED AND IT PROPELLED ME FORWARD HARD AND I HAD TO HIT THE BRAKES. 5. IN THE FIRST WEEK OF OWNERSHIP AN ALERT POPPED UP ON THE CENTER SCREEN INDICATING THE CONTROL PANEL HAD DETECTED A PROBLEM WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER SYSTEM AND IT WAS A FIRE HAZARD. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND THIS IN THE COMPUTER MEMORY ANYWHERE AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. AT TIMES I FEEL VERY UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AND THE WHOLE REASON I BOUGHT IT IS TO FEEL SAFE AND SECURE. RIGHT NOW THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 1,000 MILES ON IT.

I contacted Jeep about the situation and was ultimately told it was somehow not a manufacturing issue. In addition to the seat fire my touch screen has completely delaminated and sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. The parts are working intermly but, I believe it could potentially mislead the driver when parking using Active Park assist and can cause and injury or damage if the safety system fails. It was inspected by a dealer before but exact diagonisis was not provided. 2. Air Suspension system warning came up at around 96000 miles. I immediatly took it to a dealer who charged 1800+ dollars to inspect and replaced a valve block mentioning C1556 code and said the poblem was sorted. I checked my car and the system warning still exists. They mentioned there were no leaks on any air bags of the suspension and quoted a 3400$ additional cost of repair. I believe the inital diagonisis was incorrect or not up to the mark (the part is available for inspection) from the dearlership as there were no clear indication of what was the root cause. This suspension failure could cause the ride height to fail any time and can cause imbalance while stopping the vehicle at higher speeds as it has an Aero mode. The air ride system is working intermily depending on the climatic conditions the components are malfunctioning which has to be addressed by the FCA group.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after turning the vehicle off, the brake lights remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the Hydraulic Control Unit was faulty and needed to be reprogramed. The Hydraulic Control Unit was reprogrammed under NHTSA Campaign: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) but the failure persisted. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

All three brake lights stayed illuminated during car operation regardless of brake pedal pressed. I was able to shift and start my car without pressing the brake putting my family and other pedestrians at risk of being run over if the car shifted out of park unexpectedly. Also no warning lights were on at all, so I drove on the road with my brake lights illuminated increasing risk for injury or death in a crash. It turns out the part is a hydraulic control unit. It was reading 120psi when the pedal wasn’t even pressed. This was replaced by an independent shop and fixed the issue. I found out that there was a recall done on 2011-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokees. This recall was “Equipment Safety Recall 21A NHTSA 23E-019”. This recall calls out this exact problem for our exact model and the exact part replaced. My vehicle did not qualify for this recall for some reason which does not make sense because of the following information. The Julian date range for the failed part is 8166-9106. The part pulled out of my vehicle has a Julian date of 8228. I am more than willing to provide photos and any documentation showing this repairs high cost and that it was done. There needs to be another recall with these cars to include mine and many others as this issue could cause death of unsuspecting people around the vehicle. It’s ridiculous that my vehicle did not qualify for this recall when I have an obviously failed part that FCA knows about but refuses to fix or reimburse me for. Please investigate this and enact a recall to fix a problem that was bad enough to be recalled once for another batch of cars. There are other cars out there that could cause death or serious injury.

Hello, There is a few things going on with this vehicle, this is a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 27k miles. Uploading recalls on this vehicle. 1. It has a fuel leak, this is a vehicle that does not have a gas cap, it has been fully diagnosed by the dealer, they want to charge $900.00 to repair plus a $250.00 diagnostic fee. 2. Car would not move, stopped abruptly, had to turn car on and off while in traffic in order to get car going, almost causing an accident. 3. Car will tell you its about to hit another car when it's not and will turn on and off while driving, almost causing an accident. Dealer does not want to take a look at the car unless you pay them $250.00, want to keep the car for a week and does not want to provide a car rental while car is under their diagnostic phase. Dealer assessing the car is Kendall Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram at 13355 SW 137th Ave, Miami, FL 33186, spoke to Lazaro Varas, assistant service manager. Please guide me on what to do, thank you. However, the contact stated that the vehicle accelerated after removing the foot off the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the Service Electronic Stabili-trak warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer determined that the traction control sensor needed to be replaced. The sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and determined that the part for the repair needed to be ordered. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Screen started to delaminate two years ago. Slowly started glitching. It now glitches constantly while driving. It randomly turns on and off, calls people, turns seat heaters on and off, changes channel, turns back up camera on and off etc. This is a major safety concern while driving. When I researched this online it appears to be a very widespread issue for all 2018 Jeeps. I have also had to replace my headlights 3 times in the last 1 1/2 years. I feel there is a correlation. I don't understand why Jeep is not recalling this issue.

There is an electrical failure that causes the blinkers to stop working, shortly after noticing this issue the vehicle will fail to start after travelling to my destination. This has happened more than twice and there are no recalls shown for the "Limited" version of this vehicle. The standard edition seems to have confirmed recalls for the same issues that the Limited version is experiencing. A mechanic has described an electrical short circuit. I encourage looking into the different models of the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee in which you'll definitely find the same safety issues described online by many others. These repairs need to be addressed and repaired by the manufacturer. Thank you!

The Uconnect system laminate bubbles and as such, the system has a phantom buttom touch every few seconds. While driving, this results in an audible ding, the navagation no longer is visible, you are unable to use the backup cameras. I have also been in a situation where it turned on the seat and steering wheel heating and I was unable to turn it off. This is a very wide spread issue and is an incredible safety hazard when driving. It effectively makes it not possible to control the electronics of the vehicle while driving. I urge anyone reading this who does not think this is a huge issue to try driving one of these vehicles while this is happening. I used to drive over 20K miles a year with my previous vehicle. This issue started a month after I bought this vehicle from Vroom. As such, I have driven less than 1,200 miles in 18 months. I am incredibly surprised that this has not been recalled yet. I am trying to upload a video of it but it will not let me. This is a MAJOR problem.

1 complaint
The electrical system per the on-dash guide shows a voltage of 13.8 V or less than the 14.2 V and when it is less than the 14.2 V the car drives choppy, braking causes the car to jolt around even after brake work. The radiator was recently replaced and new hoses were replaced and it still has not been remedied after new brakes and new serpentine belt. The dealer did not clean all remaining radiator fluid that spilled in the bottom of the car, as the radiator had not completely been malfunctioning prior to arrival at dealer. This has probably caused some corrosion due to faulty manufacturing and use of subpar components to where this would become an issue. The air hoses continuously make noise as there is intermittent whirring. The electrical components of the car which I assume are manifested via the voltage regulator cause the adaptive cruise control/ auto stop-start to become 'unavailable' intermittently throughout driving the car. There have been recalls issued for other Jeep Grand Cherokees for the very same issues that my car is experiencing and I want this to be remedied and not at my expense.

For my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee: the UConnect touchscreen which controls everything from the parking assist functions to navigation to climate is delaminating. As a result of the delaminating screen, the screen will malfunction while driving the vehicle causing it 1) become permanently "stuck" on the rear back up camera/parking assist mode or 2) override driver selections and prompt the driver to select/deselect other functions unrelated to driving causing dangerous distractions and impacting our ability to use the car and system safely.

IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018 IN AN ELEVATED GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, IMMEDIATELY AT THE MOMENT OF A LOW SPEED FRONT COLLISION THAT BENT PART OF THE FRONT BUMPER, THE ENGINE RPM SPIKED EXTREMELY HIGH. I THEN CAREFULLY PUT MY FOOT SQUARE ON THE BREAK AND APPLIED PRESSURE BEFORE PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE SO I COULD PARK IN ORDER TO CHECK THE DAMAGE. AS MY FOOT WAS FIRM ON THE BRAKE, WHILE SHIFTING INTO REVERSE THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AS THE ENGINE RPM CONTINUED TO VIOLENTLY ACCELERATE AND SPIKE. THE BRAKE WAS ROCK SOLID AND DID NOT ACTIVATE ALL, NO MATTER HOW MUCH PRESSURE I PUT ON IT AS THE JEEP ACCELERATED THROUGH THE PARKING LOT IN REVERSE, GETTING UP TO ABOUT 40 TO 50 MPH BEFORE STRIKING 4 OTHER VEHICLES. AT LEAST 2 OF THE OTHER VEHICLES WERE TOTALED. ONLY AFTER THE JEEP CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP INTO ONE OF THE PARKED CARS, WAS I ABLE TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND GET OUT TO MAKE SURE NO PEOPLE WERE INJURED. SEVERAL PEDESTRIANS WERE WALKING TO THEIR CARS AT THE MOMENT OF THE INCIDENT. NO ONE WAS HURT BUT SEVERAL PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED AS A RESULT OF THE ENGINE THROTTLE/RPM SPIKING OUT OF CONTROL. THE EXPERIENCE WAS COMPLETELY HORRIFYING. THE ON DUTY POLICE OFFICER WHO I SPOKE WITH, WHO WAS ALSO PRESENT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, DID NOT WRITE A TICKET. AFTER INTERVIEWING ME HE DETERMINED THAT I WAS OF SOUND MIND AND BODY AND NOT UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ANY TYPE OF SUBSTANCE. AFTER SPEAKING WITH SEVERAL TECHNICIANS AND SALES ASSOCIATES AT THE JEEP DEALER, I' WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT JEEP CORPORATE TO SPEAK WITH SOMEONE WHO HAD THE AUTHORITY TO HELP ME RESOLVE THIS MATTER. MOVING FORWARD MY BEST ADVISE TO ANYONE ELSE WOULD BE TO CHECK THIS (NHTSA) WEBSITE FOR ANY MANUFACTURER MALFUNCTIONS AND/OR RECALLS.

I NEARLY DIED ON 5/8/19 DRIVING MY JEEP. I WAS GOING ABOUT 60MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN THE FAR LEFT LANE. MY SOS 🆘 WENT OFF ON MY PHONE AND IMMEDIATELY I LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND WHEELS STARTED TURN INTO LEFT AND RIGHT. THERE WAS NO MORE POWER STEERING AND I HAD TO STRUGGLE AND FORCE THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT SO I WOULDN'T CRASH INTO THE DIVIDER WALL ON THE LEFT AND CARS ON THE RIGHT WHEN IT WOULD CHANGE LANES. THIS WENT ON FOR WHAT SEEMED FOREVER. I REACHED FOR MY PHONE THAT WAS FLASHING AND PRESSED THE CANCEL BUTTON AND SHORTLY AFTER IT BEGAN TO CALM DOWN AND I BEGAN TO GET SOME CONTROL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT HAPPENED MY PHONE WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE BLUE TOOTH IT WAS SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. YOU HAVE AN IMAGE THAT IS DESCRIBED AS A DEATH WOBBLE THAT IS SIMILAR ONLY MINE WAS MORE PROFOUNDLY SEVERE. WHAT IS THIS AND WHAT CAUSES IT? IT ALMOST KILLED ME. I COULD HAVE HAD MY GRANDCHILDREN IN THE CAR WITH ME. I DO NOT WANT TO GO IN TO JEEP AN THEY ACT LIKE THEY DON'T KNOW OR CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A DEADLY SAFETY PROBLEM AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. IT IS SAFE AND THERE IS NO WARNING SIGN. FIX IT IMMEDIATELY, RECALL IT, EXCHANGE IT, OR REFUND IT.

THE VEHICLE IS BRAND NEW AND A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING IT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT DOWN ELECTRICALLY (TWICE WHILE DRIVING) AND THE STEERING WHEEL AND BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN NOVEMBER OF 2017 I HAVE HAD 4 TO 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN JEEP/CHRYSLER IN LIBERTYVILLE, ILLINOIS. I MADE VERBAL COMPLAINTS AFTER THE SECOND AND THIRD TIME. I WAS TOLD AFTER THE LAST ISSUE THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED AND NO MORE ISSUES WOULD OCCUR, ABOUT 10 MONTHS LATER THE ISSUE HAS OCCURED ONCE AGAIN FOR A FOURTH TIME. I HAVE SON THAT I PICK UP ON THE WEEKENDS WHICH REQUIRES ME TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. MY FEAR IS THAT THE ELECTRICAL WILL GO OUT AND MY SON WILL BE HURT IN A CAR ACCIDENT DUE TO THE STEERING AND BRAKES LOCKING AND NO WAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE SAFELY. THE OCCASION WHERE IS WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE STARTING GOING HAYWIRE, THE DASH LIGHTS WERE FLICKERING AND DIFFERENT SIGNS WERE COMING ON AND THE BRAKES BECAME VERY HARD TO PRESS UNTIL I COULDNT ANY LONGER AND THE STEERING BECAME REALLY HARD TO MOVE UNTIL IT EVENTUALLY LOCKED AS WELL. ON 9 APRIL 2019, THE LAST OF THE FEW ISSUES THAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS VEHICLE IT WAS STATIONARY AND IT WOULDNT START AND THE ELECTRICAL STARTED ACTING UP WITH THE DASHBOARD GIVING ME THE SAME MESSAGES FROM THE LAST FEW TIMES THAT THE SITUATION HAD OCCURRED.

I PURCHASED A NEW 2018 GRAND CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK EDITION LAST FALL THAT WAS FACTORY EQUIPPED WITH "ROCK RAILS". I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT THE FACTORY SPECIFIED JACKING LOCATION "PINCH POINTS" ARE OBSCURED BY THE RAILS AND NO LONGER ACCESSIBLE USING THE SUPPLIED JACK. THERE ARE "CUTOUTS" IN THE RAILS BUT THEY ARE NOT LARGE ENOUGH TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE JACKING LOCATION POINTS. I HAD THE FIRST SERVICE PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND SHOWED THEM THE PROBLEM. THEY ALSO COULD NOT LOCATE A SAFE JACKING LOCATION USING THE FACTORY SUPPLIED TOOLS. IT IS POTENTIALLY VERY DANGEROUS TO ATTEMPT ANY TYPE OF TIRE CHANGE PROCEDURE USING THE SUPPLIED FACTORY JACK ON A GRAND CHEROKEE WITH THE ROCK RAILS OPTION. SERIOUS BODILY INJURY AND/OR DEATH COULD RESULT IF THE VEHICLE WAS TO SLIP/FALL OFF THE JACK WHILE FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THE FACTORY USER'S MANUAL. I HAVE CONTACTED US CORPORATE JEEP SEVERAL TIMES VIA EMAIL AND PHONE (3/15, 3/17, 3/27, AND 4/2). THEY ASSIGNED CASE #58203148 TO THE ISSUE BUT HAVE NOT YET PROVIDED ANY SUGGESTIONS OR REMEDY TO THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE FROM THEM OTHER THAN "THEY'RE LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM".*DT CONSUMER STATED THE CUTOUT IS NOT LARGE ENOUGH FOR THE 'U' SHAPE CUSP OF THE JACK TO ENGAGE AND PROVIDE A SECURE LIFT POINT. YOU WILL ALSO NOTICE THAT THE ROCK RAIL PINCH POINT IS OFFSET 90 DEGREES TO THE ORIGINAL LIFT POINTS OF THE VEHICLE. THIS MEANS YOU'D HAVE TO ALIGN THE JACK STAND PARALLEL WITH THE VEHICLE RATHER THAN PERPENDICULAR. *JB *DT *TR

I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON CAMBRIDGE RD. AS I WAS APPROACHING A SHOPPING PLAZA, A VEHICLE WAS ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE PARKING LOT OF THE PLAZA ALSO HEADING SOUTH. AS THE VEHICLE WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE THE LEFT HAND TURN, IT PULLED IN FRONT OF MY CAR, DRIVING ME OFF THE ROAD. I HAD TO SWERVE OUT OF THE WAY TO AVOID HITTING THAT CAR, AND WHEN I DID I CRASHED INTO AN ELECTRICAL POLE, DESTROYING THE ENTIRE FRONT END AND TOTALING THE CAR. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THIS IS WHY I'M FILING THIS REPORT.

SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LEADS TO TOTAL LOSS ON ON MARCH 30 , 2018. THIS IS MY STORY: I BOUGHT MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2018 TRAILHAWK FROM THE ORANGE PARK CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE, RAM DEALERSHIP AKA DARSCARS OF JACKSONVILLE AT 7233 BLANDING BLVD (904) 777-5500 ON OCTOBER 21, 2017 UNDER A THREE YEAR LEASE AGREEMENT WITH ALLY AUTO FINANCE (1-888) 925-2559. ON MARCH 30, 2018 WITH APPROXIMATELY 3700 MILES I WAS AT THE GATEWAY PISTOL AND RIFLE RANGE AT IN JACKSONVILLE WITH MY FRIEND CHARLIE FOR PISTOL SHOOTING. MY CAR WAS PARKED OUTSIDE OF ONE OF THE STEEL SHEDS. WHEN RAIN STARTED WE DECIDED TO DRIVE MY CAR AROUND AND UNDER THE SHED. I TOOK THE CAR AROUND BUT COULDN'T QUITE MAKE IT INTO THE SHED AND HAD TO BACK UP. WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE I HEARD A STRANGE NOISE AND MY FRIEND TOLD ME LATER THAT MY REAR WHEELES STARTED SPINNING, WHICH THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO. WHEN MY CAR WAS IN THE RIGHT POSITION MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BREAK I SHIFTED TO "DRIVE". AT THIS MOMENT THE ENGINE ROARED UP AND RACED FORWARD. I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR. I STEERED IT INTO THE NEXT EMPTY SHOOTING BAY IN 1/2 CIRCLE INTO THE BACKSTOP ENDING UP AT THE WALL WHICH WAS DAMAGED IN THE PROCESS. ALL FRONT AND SIDE AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED. IT WAS AN ABSOLUTELY HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE. IT WAS PLAIN LUCK THAT NOBODY WAS HURT. THE CAR IS PRESENTLY IN THE HANDS OF MY INSURER AAA WHO DECLARED THE CAR A TOTAL LOSS. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS CASE OF PRODUCT LIABILITY FOR WHICH THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE! I FOUND OUT YESTERDAY THAT THERE IS A SPECIAL PHONE NUMBER FOR CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE IN CHARGE OF LEMON CAR ISSUES 1-844-521-8188. MY COMPLAINT HAS A CASE NUMBER 33880270.

DRIVING THE AUTO AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AT A RED LIGHT AND THE BRAKES ONLY PARTIALLY ENGAGED AND THE AUTO WENT THROUGH THE RED LIGHT. DROVE UP TO THE NEXT LIGHT AS THE CAR WAS JUST ABOUT TO STOP IT ACCELERATED FORWARD INTO THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME. THERE IS A SAFETY FEATURE CALLED "FORWARD COLLISION WARNING" WHICH SHOULD APPLY THE BRAKES AND DID NOT WORK (INSTEAD OF BRAKING WITH THE JEEP SAFETY FEATURE THE AUTO ACCELERATED). THE DEALER REPAIRED THE DAMAGE PAID BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY BUT COULD NOT TELL ME WHY THIS HAPPENED OR PROVIDE ASSURANCE THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THE INSURANCE COMPANY SAID THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE WITH THE NTSB AND REVIEW THE "BLACK BOX". IF THE TRUCK WAS NOT IN FRONT OF OUR VEHICLE WE WOULD HAVE GONE THROUGH THE RED LIGHT INTO A HIGHWAY INTERSECTION. THE CAR HAD SLOWED TO 5 MPH AND WAS TEN FEET FROM AUTO IN FRONT AND THEN ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 15 MPH IN A FEW SECONDS.
