I received Safety Recall 68C for my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe stating that the high-voltage battery may become damaged during normal operation and could lead to a vehicle fire. FCA instructs owners not to recharge the vehicle and states that no remedy is currently available. In addition to the recall, I am experiencing a major safety issue inside the vehicle. The rear driver-side passenger seat (directly above the high-voltage battery) becomes extremely hot during normal driving, hot enough that my family members cannot sit there comfortably. The heat is abnormal and appears to be coming from the battery area. I have small children who ride in this vehicle, and I no longer feel it is safe to transport them. FCA has no fix for the known battery defect, and the combination of internal heat from the seat and the fire-risk warning significantly impairs the safety and usability of the vehicle. FCA advises owners to avoid charging, but this makes the vehicle unusable for its intended purpose as a plug-in hybrid. I am requesting NHTSA involvement because this appears to be a serious battery overheating and potential fire hazard affecting the passenger cabin. Please investigate. I need guidance, as the manufacturer cannot repair the defect, and I am concerned for the safety of my family. If there’s no cure to this problem, please ask FCA to purchase the vehicle back from me. It’s a three year lease and I have about six months left on it.

This is the 9th recall. All information you have but most concerning is the fire hazard and recommendations NOT to plug in the hybrid vehicle and NOT to park near any structures including in the garage in this freezing New England cold.

The contact owned a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds in the driveway, there was an abnormal metallic sound coming from underneath the vehicle. After a visual inspection, the contact became aware that an unknown part had detached. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the rear coil spring. The contact was informed that the rear coil spring had detached. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V413000 (Suspension). The VIN was included; however, the vehicle was repaired by the dealer on December 6, 2023, 17 days before the failure occurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 9,000.

I was driving pulled in to driveway heard a loud bang and the back of the car dropped and hear scraping. The rear passenger coil spring had fallen out with the upper rubber isolator attached. Called jeep they said the recall had been done in 6 23 and was out of the 2 year repair warranty. I don't see how the recall was done when all the numbers on the coil spring , isolator were still original parts?
Aug 02, 2025
Upper passenger Suspension Coil spring isolator came unattached and caused coil spring to fall out.
Aug 02, 2025
Lower passenger coil spring isolator loose causing spring and upper isolator to fall out while driving Dealership stated recall was done 6/23 and was out of warranty for that recall. But everything in that suspension is OEM with the old part numbers not the ones in the recall..

There is no heat in truck. It has something to do with the 2 way control valve. When driving you cannot defrost the front window when it fogs up and sometime freezes. Very dangerous to drive since it is winter here in NJ. Brought up to dealer months ago. Trying to deal with it but hard to drive in cold. Said it wasn't under warranty but it started before warranty was up. I see this as a safety hazard and there should be a recall on these.
Dec 16, 2025
My family went on a weekend trip the day we left town the heat was working great. The next day we noticed that the heat was on but the air coming out of the vents was not as hot as the day before. We attempted to turn the heat off and back on still blowing warm to cool air. The heating system blows cool air at times. I took the vehicle into the dealer and they said the reason we didn't have heat was due to the electric battery needed to be charged. We could not understand why the car had to be charged in order to have heat. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer.

While driving I received a pop-up message on the head unit advertising Sirius XM. I had to clear this pop-up message while driving in order to continue using my map. I need to be very clear that I was driving at speed with a navigation route set and the map was obstructed by an advertisement that I had to touch the screen with one hand left on the wheel to click a pop-up ad. This was not a message from any attached devices. This was a system message from the infotainment unit.

2 current recalls on my vehicle 68C and 78C are life threatening and the vehicle may catch on fire. Visiting the dealer today 12/6 - there is no solution for either. I am formally requesting immediate review and investigation into multiple unresolved safety defects involving my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, VIN [XXX] . Jeep has acknowledged a hybrid-battery fire-risk recall affecting this model, yet there has been no available remedy or repair timeline, leaving the vehicle unsafe for regular operation and posing risk to myself, my family, and others around the vehicle. Primary defect — High-voltage hybrid battery fire risk (UNRESOLVED) My vehicle falls under an active hybrid-battery safety recall involving potential internal failure of the high-voltage traction battery capable of causing thermal events or fire while parked or in motion. Despite this being a critical safety hazard, Jeep/Stellantis has: Provided no repair or replacement timeline Offered no interim mitigation beyond advising parking precautions Provided no alternative transportation or safety guarantee This leaves me with a vehicle that cannot be safely used, parked near structures, or charged, effectively removing the primary functional design reason I purchased a 4xe plug-in hybrid. Additional unresolved safety-critical issues In addition to the fire-risk recall, my Grand Cherokee 4xe has experienced: Steering component issues, including instability and safety concerns while driving Suspension-related defects, including risks tied to coil-spring recall applicability Loss of hybrid system functionality, severely limiting drivability and efficiency Multiple disruptions causing loss of use, travel restrictions, confidence in safety & reliability These combined failures demonstrate systemic integrity concerns that extend beyond the battery recall alone. Why NHTSA’s involvement is needed Because Jeep has failed to present a repair path or a timeframe — and because this defect can escalate to vehicle fire, immobilization, or sudden failure while driving — I believe there is sufficient cause for expanded review and enforcement action. I am reporting ongoing safety concerns with my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ) related to repeated high-voltage battery defects and loss-of-power risks. The vehicle has already been subject to NHTSA Recall 25V576 (FCA 73C), which I completed, but the underlying electrical/battery issues continue to raise serious safety concerns. As of November 2025, my vehicle is now listed under NHTSA Recall 25V776 (FCA 68C), which involves a defect inside the high-voltage battery cells that can lead to a vehicle fire even when parked and turned off. Stellantis has instructed owners not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors, indicating a significant and ongoing safety risk. No remedy is currently available. Additionally, a separate recall—NHTSA 25V766 (FCA 78C)—was recently announced for 2023–2025 Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles regarding potential engine contamination that can cause engine failure or fire. While my VIN is not yet listed under 25V766, my model year and 2.0L hybrid powertrain fall within the affected range. These overlapping recalls, combined with recurring electrical issues across the 4xe lineup, reflect a broader pattern of safety defects that place owners at risk. The cumulative trend is alarming: multiple consecutive battery-related fire recalls, prior software updates that failed to resolve the issue, and now possible engine contamination. These issues continue to undermine confidence in the vehicle’s safety, reliability, and long-term performance. I am submitting this complaint because the vehicle remains subject to an open fire-risk recall with no repair available, and the expanding list of related recalls suggests a systemic problem with the Jeep 4xe’s high-voltage and engine systems. I am seeking NHTSA’s further review and investigation. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

This vehicle is a danger to drive, and there is no information on when they will fix it. I have taken the battery in to fix it before and it took over 2 weeks to repair, and more problems with more recalls. The engine is said that it can cause fire like the battery. This vehicle is not safe to have and continues to be a severe safety problem for me and my family, Two of the recalls right now they have no idea how to fix. It is not fair that I am paying for this vehicle and I can't even drive it.

Since purchasing the vehicle in January of 2024 , I have had the same repeated safety issues that the dealership and Chrysler were made aware of . I was told that no other vehicles of my make and model had the same issues so I was not listened to . While driving vehicle has slammed on the breaking system for no apparent reason at different speeds. Last time this happened I was on the thruway doing 65 mph. This has happened over 10 times and has been extremely scary and upsetting. The Hybrid system alert has flashed over 30 times and the vehicle has stalled with loss of power. The transmission either jerks or there is a large lag of power -sometimes gas pedal needs to be pinned in order for vehicle to go forward. I have complained to the dealership and Chrysler about the safety issues and how the battery has not work as expected upon purchasing and all the safety issues. I have been mislead by Chrysler on the performance and use of the vehicle. I have asked for a resolution for over a year- lemon law, buy back , but I have to continue to drive an unsafe vehicle. There is a loss of power in the moment the propulsion changes from electric to gas followed by an error message to "service hybrid electrical system". Dealer inspected an found there is currently no remedy. Seems to be a known issue by now.

I was driving my Jeep grand Cherokee 2023 at night on the 580 freeway in Northern California. Was traveling about 65 MPH. When the vehicle lost all power. I was barely able to pull off to the right shoulder still was partially in the right most lane. After multiple attempts of Restart the vehicle, it did restart after about 10 minutes. I’ve taken the vehicle in to the nearest dealership on a flatbed truck. It has been there since the beginning of June. Jeep is unable to repair the vehicle sighting a software update needed for the hybrid system that they have not released yet. This problem will apply to any 4XE vehicle by Jeep. Vehicle is not safe to operate on public roads. Jeep does not seem interested in accelerating the fix. I’ve been waiting nearly 3 1/2 months.

Today my steering locked up ,was not driving on the highway but was on my way when the steering said on my screen the loss of power steering .So afraid this will happen again and me driving. Yes it is at dealership now. Had to have it towed. The Vehicle is at dealership .Yes the red steering wheel was on the screen and the loss of steering when I was trying to back out of my carport. So afraid this will happen on the main road in traffic and I or another person will get hurt. Could not even turn the steering when backing out of my carport. Thank you for checking on this. These cars are dangerous when this happens. Bad thing is in all these cars they don’t know how to fix them, cause they can’t find what this problem is.

For the second time since the vehicle was purchased EPS failed. The first time there were other issues and errors. The car cannot safely be driven under these conditions. When taken to the dealer they say they cannot recreate the issue and then it is drivable. Our concern is that these issues are not being properly logged and there is a serious electrical defect in the car that could result in a failure while it is being driven. Since there is "no trouble found" it does not need to be logged by the dealer and information will never reach the OEM to note an issue and drive recalls or corrective quality actions.
Sep 26, 2024
During operation of the vehicle on 12/5/23 the vehicle lost communication to the power steering module, instrument cluster and entertainment center. The car was able to safely be stopped. After restart all functions were normal. The car was brought to the dealer on 12/6 for troubleshooting and historic codes consistent with complaint were present. As of current day 3/29/24 FCA (Fiat Chrysler auto) has agreed to repurchase the vehicle under Mass Lemon Law Guidelines.

This vehicle was sold to us with this issue. The dealer knew that this problem existed. We took the vehicle in for service when a warning light about the steering came on a few weeks ago. The dealer said that there was not a problem with the steering other than a wire that had been chewed by a rodent for which the dealer charged $650 to fix.

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system engaging while turning left when there was no car or pedestrian in front of us. This scared us as the car stopped in the middle of a large intersection putting us all in danger of potentially getting hit. The BRAKE message appeared followed by three loud beeps before the car applied full pressure on the breaks and brought the car to a full stop.

This vehicle does not alert or activate forward collision warnings or automatic braking. Other reports from 2022-2023 by Grand Cherokee owners confirm that the system is not working for many Grand Cherokee.
Jan 24, 2025
Driving down a highway in a 70 mph zone, my car’s automatic braking system engaged causing my car to slam on brakes. There were no cars in front of me any of the times this happened. This has happened 5 times in the last two weeks. 3/5 of the times, there were cars/trucks in the right lane next to me. 2/5 of the times, there were trucks two lanes over. The first time this happened, the car behind me had to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting me. This has happened about 10 times since I have owned the car. However the incidents have happened more frequently in the last few weeks.

I have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4WD Overland, If the NHTSA would do a web search this issue is a common issue that many people are complaining and concerned about. The forward collision warning with automatic braking is NOT functioning or has been turned down where it is completely ineffective or is not functioning at all. I have had my vehicle in two different Jeep dealerships and have been told that the system is functioning and not showing any error codes. I have an active case working under Jeep (Case # [XXX]) and my vehicle was inspected by a Jeep representative on [XXX], who also claims that the system is working. I have driven several different makes of vehicles with a Collision Avoidance System and have seen and experienced when this system functions properly, I am a Police Officer and currently drive a 2021 Chevy Tahoe with this system and have had many alerts in the two years I have driven this vehicle. I have approximately 12,500 miles on this Jeep and have NOT had one alert with this amount of mileage, I have has a couple close calls where I have had to take evasive action and heavy braking to avoid a collision and not even had a warning of any kind. There are to many people complaining of this same issue and many of the same people are quoting the same company verbiage and quotes from the jeep service departments saying that the system is functioning correctly, and there is no way to test the system. Please look into this issue and research just how many people are complaining of this issue, if your going to advertise and promote a safety system on vehicles you should have an expectation that the system actually works. Any safety system that is not functioning properly puts people in danger when the said system would prevent or minimize damage in a collision situation. My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee has a persistent, intermittent grinding or rumbling noise during moderate acceleration, most often under load such as going uphill. The noise has been documented over seven service visits and confirmed in writing by two separate Jeep dealerships, yet Jeep claims they cannot replicate it consistently. In 2024, my husband experienced violent jerking during upshifts at highway speeds, forcing him to restart the vehicle to restore normal operation. While that specific event has not repeated, the grinding/drivetrain issue continues, with no warning lights or diagnostic codes. The defect has persisted for more than a year, despite extensive service attempts, and raises serious safety concerns — particularly if the drivetrain locks up or loses power while driving. Jeep has not resolved the issue and is attempting to close my case without a fix. Case No. 93653073 is on file with Jeep/Stellantis Customer Care. on/about 3/20 while driving on the freeway changing lanes, the transmission went from 8th gear to 3rd and did so with such violently it felt as though i was struck by another car. The transmission did this multiple times with multiple drivers. This has been a systemic problem since i bought the car with 11 miles on the odometer from a Jeep dealer. last, the transmission stuck in 8th gear and barley rolled into a driveway where it had to be towed to the dealer for not being able to select a gear and with a check engine lite on. This jeep has been at the dealers service shop for over 45 days with issues related to the transmission and only had 3000 miles on the odometer currently. This has been a problem since being purchased. multiple forms talk about transmission issues on their like model 2020-2023 jeep grand cherokees.

I have towed this vehicle behind my motorhome for the past year and have used a Brake Buddy system to stop the vehicle should it ever break away from the tow brackets. I used the Brake Buddy system for 5 years on a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee prior to buying this 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and have never had any issues before. Recently, while towing the vehicle, I set it up for towing as Jeep recommends and either had a malfunction of the Automatic Electronic Brakes (AEB) or the Brake Buddy. Even though the tires never developed a flat spot on them due to dragging the vehicle, there was pressure applied to the brake pedal that caused the brakes to get so hot that the rubber brake lines melted at the fittings or blew out of the fittings causing me to lose all fluid. The NTHSA requires that all light-duty vehicles have AEB systems installed on them by 2026. I questioned Jeep as to the cause of my issue and they determined it was not their fault. I contacted Brake Buddy and they claimed they were just recently made aware of this problem and have since determined their system is not compatible with AEB equipped vehicles. I have talked to several installers that set up tow vehicles to be towed and they are of aware of this. Who has the responsibility to inform the public and industry that there is a problem here? Jeep advertises their vehicle is towable with all 4 wheels on the ground but makes no mention of having to install a State Law required braking system in the tow vehicle or potential compatibility issues. Had this tow vehicle come loose, it could have cause damage and potentially the loss of life!

While driving lost the power brakes making stopping vehicle incredibly difficult having to apply excessive force to brake pedal and shift into neutral to stop. Vehicle could not be driven for service and needed to be towed. If my wife had been driving her car, she would not be able to stop as I (her husband) had to apply leg force as much as I could apply to get vehicle to slow down and had to shift to neutral to stop. We avoided being in an accident but it was very close. Vehicle has been towed for repair and currently do not know what is wrong with the vehicle but it is definitely a safety concern.

The vehicle has an active safety recall related to a potential high-voltage battery fire. The recall warns that the battery pack may contain damaged cells that could lead to a vehicle fire under certain conditions. The manufacturer instructs owners not to recharge the battery and to park the vehicle away from buildings or other vehicles due to the fire risk. The defect puts my family and others at risk because the vehicle cannot be safely charged, cannot be parked near structures, and may pose a spontaneous fire hazard. This significantly limits the ability to drive or store the vehicle normally. The issue was present before I purchased the vehicle, and the recall was active at that time. The problem has been confirmed by the manufacturer’s recall documentation. I have contacted dealerships and the manufacturer, but no remedy appointment or software update has been provided, and a replacement high-voltage battery has not been scheduled. Warning messages and restrictions were communicated through the official recall notice. There have been no repairs performed, and the safety risk remains unresolved.

on 10/24/2025 my wife and daughter were in the vehicle driving to her school. My wife was on the phone with me when she stated the car was reving really high and sounded like it was going to blow up how loud it was. she was driving at about 25-30 mph when the car suddenly jerked and shut off completely, the battery light turned on and the check engine light flashed before it shut off. she was able to brake and roll to the side of the road. I had instructed her to keep her foot on the break since it was not letting her shift to park. We stayed on the phone as i contacted jeep directly and get a hold of a rep she said she was able to put it in park and she tried to turn the car on and she was able to turn it on after 10 min. She drove with the hazards on to my daughters school and dropped her off i told her park the car and don't use it until i get home. I got home on 10/26/2025 and the light was off i made an appointment with jeep for that week 10/31 and they stated they were unable to find anything in the computer for the issue that had occurred instead they saw a issue with my heating and it was pump. i have a case open with jeep and they have yet to return my call after a week of non stop calling, i emailed stelantis but they stated they cant assist has to be jeep directly. i would love some help with this as the car has been to the dealership three time for multiple issues and recalls that they stated they did and still show are not done. i have a schduled appointment for the 68c but there is no remedy yet.

BELOW IS THE LETTER I SENT TO STELLANTIS. I am writing to file an urgent and formal complaint regarding ongoing, severe safety and functionality issues with my Jeep 4xe , leased through Stellantis Financial. These issues have not only rendered the vehicle unreliable, but they have also endangered my life, the lives of my children, and the public-particularly as I work in an elementary school setting where safety is paramount. Most alarmingly, my Jeep 4xe recently reversed on its own at an accelerated speed without input, and would not stop until I prompted the brakes repeatedly. Had a child or pedestrian been behind the vehicle, the incident could've resulted in severe injury or death. As a parent and educator, this experience was traumatizing and has left me fearful of operating the vehicle in any public or residential space. Additionally, my vehicle frequently enters "turtle mode" (reduced power mode) without warning, significantly increasing my risk of being rear- ended in traffic. This unpredictability is unacceptable for any vehicle-especially one marked as a safe, family-friendly hybrid. These critical safety failures began shortly after the recall involving the vehicle's battery. Since then I've experienced: *Multiple simultaneous sensor malfunctions *Reduced driving speeds and performance *Inability to charge the vehicle on a professionally installed Level 2 charger *Recurring shop visits without permanent resolution While earlier issues were inconvenient, they pale in comparison to the dangerous and erratic behavior of the vehicle now. Despite repeated attempts by service technicians to address these problems, each "fix" is followed by a new or recurring issue. This pattern shows that the vehicle is fundamentally flawed and no longer safe to operate.

Dashboard showed Transmission Error Message: Service Transmission Continue in D, Do Not Shift or Turn off Engine Until you Reach a Desired Location, You may not be able to shift again until serviced. Vehicle was stuck in 1st gear and would not shift out for 5 minutes. Taken to dealer with engine light on and shown pictures of error messages and dealer found nothing wrong with vehicle. This all happened on a highway and I had to navigate from high speeds to slow and stop in the exit lane.

On 10/07/2023, about 7:30 pm, I was driving down 6th Street in Beaumont California at about 30 mph speed when all of a sudden the engine made a horrible loud noise and it looked like the accelerator pedal was suddenly hit. It seemed that the vehicle speed did not increase accordingly, but my foot had released the gas pedal already. Once I confirmed that the noise was indeed coming from my car, I pulled over and turned off the engine while the loud noise was continuing. Then I restarted the car and the problem didn't reoccur this time. Then, the car has performed normally.

Monday, November 3rd, 2025 In electric mode - I drove the vehicle forward out of a parking spot. The vehicle made three very large lurches over a 200 foot length of parking lot, enough to bang drivers and passengers heads hard against the head rests each with a loud clunk. Within seconds after the third lurch, the car went into gas/oil refresh mode (which transitions the vehicle from electric mode to gas mode). At that point the accelerator became unresponsive with RPMs hovering just over 1000. After multiple successive press, hold and releases of the accelerator, I took my foot off thinking I had lost all power and was preparing to shut the vehicle off. Before I could, the car began accelerating quickly forward without my foot on the accelerator. This lasted for 1 - 2 seconds before the car stopped accelerating and I was able to use the brakes to stop it. Had this not been late evening (9:45p EST) - the parking lot would have been full of pedestrians and other vehicles which would have caused a collision with other vehicles, or worse caused me to strike a pedestrian. I had no control over the vehicle. I put the vehicle in park and shut it down. After a minute, I restarted the vehicle and brought it home. The check engine light has been lit since. At this time (Monday, November 10th), the vehicle is still at the dealership (brought in Wednesday, November 5th) being investigated for this as well as the transmission (?) issue that was causing the lurching described.

After 95B recall in Late March vehicle had service hybrid electric vehicle system with red wrench. Scheduled appt and it stopped so I canceled. It showed up multiple times again so I scheduled another which was scheduled for Sept 22nd which was the soonest appt available. Statement from my husband : On September 5, 2025 I made three cross town trips while returning home on the conclusion of the third trip I merged onto interstate 94 from Sheyenne Street in West Fargo ND while merging onto the interstate from the on-ramp I was traveling at approximately 60 mph and as soon as I was on the interstate the service warning came on and there was no acceleration as a semi was approaching from behind, the service message was on for a second and went away and the notification was to step on the brake and push the start button. I was able to merge onto the shoulder, avoiding being struck by the semi, and was able to restart the vehicle once it came to a complete stop. On Saturday September 6, 2025 I contacted the dealership and explained how my husband almost got into a severe accident and the vehicle lost all propulsion and said they needed to get it in right away and they had no sense of urgency and said the soonest available was September 11, 2025. It has since been inspected and currently at the dealership Jeep has seized custody of the Jeep •I’m now paying for something you don’t have access to. •The rental they have been given is a downgrade, which is not a “comparable replacement” standard most manufacturers commit to during a stop-drive. Furthermore Jeep endangered my husband, grounded your vehicle, and is now offering you less mobility than you contracted for. That’s a breach of trust, contract, and safety obligations all in one. They continue to send me to voicemails that are full. I went in today and asked for them to provide resolution as the lease is up in 8 months and they were again supposed to update me and have not.

The “Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System” has been coming on intermittently for several months. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced a wiring harness. That did not fix the issue. The light continues to come on and Jeep technicians have no idea how to fix the issue. Today the light came on and the vehicle stalled and lost propulsion for about 3 seconds and then lurched hard forward as the power returned to the engine. This issue is widespread across social media yet Jeep has done nothing to remedy it. This is a major safety issue, especially with the unexpected lurching forward of the vehicle.

While we (Husband, Wife, [XXX] old & [XXX] old daughter) were doing a cross country road trip from Olympia, WA to Raleigh, NC, we experienced a serious safety issue while driving in the State of Iowa on [XXX] The incident happened around 5 PM local time on [XXX] just before [XXX] in the outskirts of Davenport, IA. The GPS location of the incident is (XXX) While I was driving in this freeway on the left most lane doing around 70 mph, suddenly I lost power to the engines. Within seconds, I managed to my pull over my vehicle to the shoulder. After few trials of restarting my vehicle, I couldn't get it to start. So, I ended up calling the Jeep Roadside Assistance. Due to the concern of the safety of my family on the freeway, I called 911 seeking assistance for protecting my family inside the car from the fast moving vehicles. Within 15-20 mins of my call, the Roadside assistance personnel as well as the Iowa State Highway Helper arrived at the scene to assist us. The Tow truck person and the Highway helper both tried some steps to get my vehicle to start, but they couldn't. So, the tow person offered to tow my Jeep to the nearby Jeep Dealership (Kimberly Car City) at Davenport, IA (whom I called around 5:10 PM to alert them of my situation). The Tow person towed the vehicle and also rode me and my [XXX] to the Jeep dealership, whilst the Highway Helper rode my wife and [XXX] to the same dealership. We reached the dealership around 5:45 PM and they were closing at 6 PM. So, the dealership had a technician look at my vehicle the next day (XXX) and he found that my fuel sensors malfunctioned and wasn't displaying the correct fuel reading. Whilst the fuel gauge indicated that I was still having about 100 miles of fuel left to go, I was actually completely run out of fuel. Had I not acted within seconds, my vehicle would have come to a complete stop in the middle of the freeway posing severe danger to our lives. Gas gauge, miles to empty, and low fuel indicator are not correct. I ran out of gas (without knowing it) twice. There was no gad light that came on. Fuel gauge said almost 1/4 tank full and 68 miles to empty. The first time this happened I had it towed to dealership thinking the AEB system stopped the car. Dealership found no issues. It happened a second time and my husband thought about the gas gauges being inaccurate and put gas in. He was right, started right up after putting gas in. After I filled it, I drove 300 miles before the Full line on the gauge started to move down. The whole system is not right when showing fuel levels. You would think the gas light would at least come on if you were out of gas

Vehicle recall but manufacturer does not have a remedy and this is my only vehicle. My hybrid light came on and flashed off. Stellantis (FCA US, LLC) is recalling approximately 91,787 units of its 2022 to 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) due to a software error within the hybrid control processor that may result in a loss of drive power. An unexpected loss of propulsion could cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

In February I had the 95b recall completed and a short time afterwards started getting a service hybrid vehicle system light and even a check engine light at one point. One of those instances with the service hybrid vehicle system light my car just turned off while I was driving it with my children in the back seat and cars behind me. I lost all control of the steering and vehicles power except it switched to the accessory. I tried to restart but it would not. I had to come to a complete stop, place in park, turn off the accessory and then restart the vehicle. The vehicle was seen promptly following the incident where I was told to drive it on esave and they would try ordering a part that could possibly be a fix. While waiting for the part the vehicle was seen at another dealership that recommended not replacing that part that there was no issue with the vehicle and to drive it on e save or make sure the battery had a charge while driving in hybrid mode. Which is not a solution. Since then I have had several instances of the service hybrid vehicle system warning lights and that includes while driving it on e save which is gas only. Unfortunately the warning comes and goes quickly while driving so it’s not always easy to take a photo while driving although I do have a few to attach.

Vehicle has a system to diagnose if the connected trailer has an inoperative bulb. The system is incorrectly assessing that the Thule Epos bike racks break lights and turn signal lamps are working, resulting in constant driver distractions from the warning lights. Every brake or turn the system beeps and illuminates warning lights when in fact there is no problems with the lights. Jeep refuses to address the issue as the bike rack is a "third party" accessory and Thule says their system is working so it's a Jeep issue. Warning system is a nuisance causing distractions while driving.

My Jeep hybrid is under an active safety recall with no available remedy. The manufacturer has instructed owners not to charge the hybrid battery system, which means the vehicle cannot be used as designed. I am continuing to make loan payments on a vehicle whose primary advertised functionality has been disabled due to a safety defect. I have contacted Jeep/Stellantis repeatedly through their recall assistance lines and have been transferred, disconnected, or told to call numbers that do not resolve the issue. No timeline or interim remedy has been provided. The vehicle is materially impaired, and the lack of a fix poses safety concerns and financial harm to owners. I am requesting NHTSA intervention due to the absence of any manufacturer solution or support.

I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the safety of my Jeep. My vehicle has been to the Jeep dealership approximately five times for the recurring Service Hybrid System Error. Most recently, in August 2025, I received this error again along with a check engine light. Each time this error occurs, I notice that my Jeep drives differently, which raises concerns about its reliability and safety. At present, my Jeep has been at the dealership for approximately 25 days. The dealership has indicated that the issue is related to the 73C code. Despite repeated visits, the problem has not been permanently resolved. I am very concerned about my own safety, as well as the safety of others on the road, particularly because I have been informed that my Jeep is part of the 1% recall group. The ongoing malfunction makes me uneasy about driving the vehicle, and I strongly believe this presents a potential hazard. I respectfully request urgent attention to this matter and a clear resolution to ensure the vehicle is safe to operate.

My 2023 Jeep GC Overland 4XE was at the Jeep service center for the same issue in a week. I get a Service throttle control warning, CEL, then every warning light on the dashboard lit up. It happened on my driveway the other day and I would not drive. I had Jeep roadside tow it to a Jeep service center. On 7/9/2025 I picked up the Jeep. Service tec said no open recalls, no software updates and the throttle body module was reprogrammed. A 14-mile test drive was done and the codes did not return. Shortly after pickup, while driving at 65 MPH on the thruway, I got the same error message, Service throttle control along with a check engine light and all warning lights again lit up. The Jeep displayed a reduced power warning, and many other warning but I didn’t have time to look at the dashboard. The vehicle slowed to a crawl in limp mode at 23 MPH, the steering became very heavy and slow to respond. I was able to quickly move over to the shoulder, and I was almost rear ended by a tracker trailer. I got off the thruway, shut the engine off, then back on and was able to get full power back. I immediately drove it to the dealership service center. This is NOT safe vehicle to be in and there are many other reports of this happening.

While idling (vehicle running in electric mode) in park, for approximately 10 minutes we attempted to put the car in drive. The vehicle acted as if it needed to be turned on, displaying the message "Press Brake and Push Button to Start" while also displaying a red battery light. Different warning messages came up showing Traffic Sign Assist Unavailable and others. We could not turn the vehicle off even with holding down the start/stop button, were unable to shift the vehicle either. Finally after ten minutes of pressing the start/stop button the vehicle finally shut off and we were able to restart it with no issues. The next week as I was driving, I would randomly get a warning light with a red wrench and a message that said Service Hybrid System. Both instances have happen two additional times. The vehicle is now sitting at the dealership and they are unable to diagnose the problem. This all has occurred after the 95B recall work was completed. This is a safety issue as the vehicle will not shut off and won't shift. So if the vehicle is parked inside of a garage and idles and then doesn't shut off that will lead to carbon monoxide leaking into the houses. Or being stranded somewhere unable to move your vehicle.

My 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN [XXX] ) is affected by two separate federal safety recalls involving the high-voltage battery: Recall 95B / NHTSA 24V-720 and the newly issued Recall 68C / NHTSA 25V-741. Both recalls warn of a potential vehicle fire and instruct owners to stop recharging the battery and to park the vehicle away from structures and other vehicles due to fire risk. These warnings appear directly in the recall notices I received. Recall 95B / NHTSA 24V-720 states that the battery pack may contain cells susceptible to separator damage which, combined with internal cell interactions, may lead to a vehicle fire. Owners are advised not to recharge and to park away from structures. Recall 68C / NHTSA 25V-741 states that under normal vehicle operation, the high-voltage battery may become damaged and lead to a vehicle fire, again instructing owners not to recharge and to park away from structures. These are virtually identical safety defects occurring back-to-back in the same high-voltage battery system. The 68C recall states explicitly that no remedy is currently available and there is no ETA, leaving me with a vehicle that cannot safely be parked at my home, charged, or operated as intended. I am now unable to use the hybrid/electric functionality at all, despite paying a premium for a plug-in hybrid vehicle. I am forced to operate the vehicle only in degraded gasoline mode with significantly reduced functionality and safety. The ongoing fire risk, inability to recharge, and requirement to park away from cars and buildings create a daily hardship and significant safety concern for my family. This is a serious safety defect affecting the same critical system twice in less than a year, and with no available remedy the vehicle remains unsafe to charge, unsafe to park near structures, and unable to function as advertised. I am requesting NHTSA review due to repeated fire-risk recalls, lack of a repair, and the substantial ongoing safety risk. As I was driving in a parking lot, the service hybrid error popped up and then suddenly the vehicle was showing to press brake & hit start button. The vehicle began slowing down and even while pressing the gas the vehicle wouldn’t do anything. I was able to coast into an empty part of the parking lot. The vehicle then wouldn’t go into park. The emergency brake engaged without me doing anything. Then it kept telling me to press brake & hit start button but it wouldn’t do anything. The veg hole seemed to be on. But acted as if it was off. I sat disabled in the parking lot for 5-10 minutes before it would turn back on and let me resume normal activities.

We leased a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe in June 2023, and since that time the vehicle has been a chronic source of mechanical and electrical failure. Over the past two years, it has been in for service 11 times, spending more than 115 total days in the shop, with at least 9 repeat issues—largely related to high-voltage interference and hybrid system instability, from our research. The problems began before we ever took possession, with a service record at just 12 miles on the odometer showing a repair to the Integrated Dual Charging Module (1890169A). Since then, we've experienced a cascade of issues affecting sensors, control modules, cameras, switches, and critical vehicle systems—many of which appear to stem from electromagnetic interference (EMI) related to the hybrid platform. Key repairs have included: Park Assist and ADAS control modules (09/28/23) Reprogramming of multiple modules (backup camera, backup sensors) (01/25/24) Backup view camera replacement (02/16/24) Fuel system pump and lighting issues (04/05/24) High-voltage recall 95B, battery coolant pump, wiring harness, battery fire risk & issue (01/30–04/01/25) The final straw came on 05/09/2025, when—while driving 70 mph on the freeway—the vehicle suddenly shut off without warning. We lost all acceleration and power, forcing us to drift to the shoulder in traffic. It took multiple restart attempts and a wait period before the vehicle became responsive again. This was not only terrifying—it was dangerous. The next day, the Jeep dealer where the vehicle was purchased, picked up our car, and we’ve received no update on its status. It is currently undrivable, and we fear it’s unsafe. We previously filed for arbitration for with NCDS (March 2023), which was denied. The situation has deteriorated significantly since then, and we are now filing a second arbitration, alongside this formal NHTSA safety complaint. Certified letters sent to the manufacturer earlier this year have gone unanswered.

I just called the dealership and will be dropping off my car again.

We have been without service of the Grand Cherokee L vehicle for nearly 6 of the 11 weeks since we leased the vehicle. The four (4) incidents and ‘repair attempts’ to ‘fix’ the randomly/sudden occurring mechanical and electrical problems were inter-related and causal to the mechanical and electrical blackout troubles. 1.02/27/23 Purchase 2.03/20/23 631 total miles traveled. Dash board blackout. a.Service Dept “reset software”. 3.03/31/23 912 total miles traveled. Complete dashboard, radio and navigation blackout a.Service Dept did not experience random failures, “therefore no repair action was warranted”. 4.04/01/23 930 total miles traveled. While traveling at approximately 45 mph vehicle suddenly seemed to drop gears - the rpm went from 2k up to 6k, the suddenness of the drop of gears had our seat belts tightening. pulled the car to the side of the round and car remained at 6k rpm. I turned the car off, waited a few seconds then restarted the vehicle and proceed home. 5.04/02/23 after starting the car remotely car literally would not get out of automated start mode. I had to turn the vehicle off, wait a couple of minutes before it would start again. In driving the vehicle to the repair shop the power went out of the radio/gps/etc system again. a.Service Dept found RADIO with internal failure. Ordered replacement radio.” b.On inquiry, Service stated the CAM bus (software version ‘AG’ was replaced with updated ‘AI’ version.) 6.04/26/23 1,051 total miles traveled. On exiting a parking lot, I tried to accelerate into traffic, the RPM increased but with zero forward motion. I pressed the accelerator to the floor, the RPM increased but zero forward motion. I then released the accelerator, the RPM correspondingly decreased - still no forward motion. Then reapplying pressure - slowly to the accelerator - the vehicle began to roll forward but at an EXAGGERATED slow pace. I slowly rolled across the traffic lane and forward "running rough".

The vehicle will run extremely rough and not accelerate when needed especially after filling the tank with gasoline. It will almost die in the intersection when you’re trying to get past Traffic. It will not reach Highway speed at times and when you step on the gas the engine makes a strange noise and it slows down. The vehicle is very dangerous in this regard. One time I almost had an accident because of it. I have had the vehicle to the Jeep dealership at least six times for this issue and they cannot confirm that it happens on their own and they cannot fix it. I have video evidence of this problem taking place over many months. Chrysler and jeep will not help me. I am concerned about the welfare of the public if they are driving a similar vehicle.

Making left hand turn through 4-way intersection. Car opposite of us also making left hand turn. Our Grand Cherokee collision system thought the two vehicle were going to collide and locked the brakes in the middle of the intersection almost causing a 4 car accident. This is the second time this has happened since purchasing 06/03/23. Driver neck injury sustained. Seeking medical attention. Jeep is currently at the dealership where they are trying to reproduce/diagnose with no success. Since purchase, I have had problems with the U Connect system, which at times renders all communication and some luxury items to be inoperable 1 week ago, car completely had both batteries drain spontaneously . Dealer replaced both batteries with no further explanation. On 5/21, on highway trip, warning lights came on, lane assist, blind spot, ABS stopped working. A/c was blowing hard, but could not adjust. Windows would not open. Hatch would not open, back doors would not open , door lock/ unlock did not work. Could only use handle on inside to open car. Could not adjust side mirrors. Promptly rerouted my day trip back home via side roads and not expressway due to uncertainty of safety. Drove it right to dealer and left the car running while checking in. Car starting flashing lights while service writer was checking car in. Then all lights- headlights and tail lights went dark without touching car. Engine still running. Car is not safe or reliable to drive. Had 12,400 miles and have owned it 18 months. Mostly highway driven by retired couple. 5 th service of electrical issues since purchase. It has been kept multiple days each time.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
2 complaints
I am filing this complaint regarding my 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xE due to repeated and ongoing electrical system failures that present a serious safety hazard. Beginning in April 2025, the vehicle began displaying the warning “Service Hybrid Electrical System.” Shortly after the warning appears, the vehicle will often shut down completely while in operation. I have taken the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership on multiple occasions. Each time, I was informed that Jeep is aware of the defect but that no repair is available, as a required software update has not yet been released. In June 2025, I escalated the issue directly to Jeep. During this time, I experienced an incident in which the vehicle lost all power and shut down on a highway, creating a significant risk of collision. Jeep representatives acknowledged the defect as a known safety concern but advised that there was no available fix. Because I cannot afford to park the vehicle indefinitely, I have been forced to continue driving it despite the dangers. Jeep has only provided one month’s car payment as a “goodwill” gesture, which in no way addresses the underlying safety hazard. In September 2025, after seeing a news report about a recall affecting this model, I contacted Jeep again. Initially, Jeep denied that a recall had been issued. Only after I provided them with the recall notice did they confirm that a recall was in effect. To date, no remedy or repair timeline has been provided. This issue has persisted for several months. Jeep has admitted that the defect is a safety concern, yet they have failed to provide a safe and operable vehicle. I, my children, and other motorists have been placed at extreme risk due to Jeep’s inaction. I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate Jeep’s handling of this defect, their delay in providing a remedy, and their failure to ensure that affected vehicles are safe to operate.

Bought the vehicle new. At around 3000 miles the vehicle dash had all dummy lights on and giving me all warnings. Then while driving the vehicle dash started flashing on and off and the vehicle started loosing power. Has been sitting at the dealer for 2 months. No time when parts are coming and if it's fixable. Advised to contact Chrysler and already did. Keep getting round around and case numbers with no resolution.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? While driving, the passenger seat side airbag deployed unexpectedly. I was moving slowly, just starting to cross an intersection after a traffic light turned green, when the airbag in the passenger seat “exploded” without warning. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The sudden loud noise startled me. This caused me to panic while in an active intersection. When I saw the seat airbag deploy, I became extremely concerned that my own seat could also explode, potentially causing injury to my back. The fear and distraction while driving put both my safety and that of surrounding drivers at risk. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No. There were no warning lamps, messages, sounds, or any other symptoms before the airbag deployed. The failure occurred suddenly without any prior indication.

the program saving seat are never the same. it seems to be the random positions and constant adjusting of the seats . I took it to the dealer and they performed a re programming per a service bulletin. It didn't help. Took it back today and they can't find anything wrong with it. No codes and they confirmed the previous programming took and is up to date.

Backing into a parking space in reverse the vehicle all of a sudden begins to accelerate forward with the gear selector showing "R" illuminated almost causing me to hit 2 cars parked in front of me. After putting the vehicle in park and reverse again i was able to park and then the vehicle gave a "service hybrid system" warning and then stalled out. I had no issues prior to this and it seems the 95B recall had something to do with it as I had this performed a week prior. It has a stored code for " digital input crash " according to the dealer but they said it is deemed safe to drive. I don't think so.

The vehicle is a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid SUV. While driving in heavy traffic on a 45 mph road, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion, with the dash lighting up with a large "Service Hybrid System" warning. After several seconds of no response, with traffic trying to work its way around my stalled SUV, the vehicle began to move again, albeit very slowly, just enough to limp it to a side street. After another 30 seconds or so, the problem cleared itself and the vehicle returned to a normal state of propulsion. I took the car to the dealer where I left it for more than a week. Apparently this is a known issue, and a code appeared (B273C-00, Digital Crash Input), but they were not able to replicate the issue while they had the vehicle and so they just reset the code. The automaker is also aware of this problem, but doesn't deem it severe enough to issue a warning to customers or provide alternative transportation while a fix is developed. The dealer's advice is to let them know when it happens again. At this point, I don't feel the vehicle is safe to drive, and it will remain parked until a fix is available.

My windshield has small bubbles in the laminate layer between the glass. It is only noticeable in the early morning and sunset when the sun shines directly through the glass windshield. The safety concern is at night when it is raining. When an oncoming car headlights come through the glass it is impossible to see the road. I have to slow down considerably. Hopefully the road is straight at this point because I cannot see the road. At first I thought my windshield was just dirty. After cleaning the windshield many times the issue did not go away.

Wind shield fluid is not dispensing onto windshield, wipers operated but no fluid dispensed. With salt on roads visibility out the wind shield became nearly zero. There were no symptoms of an issue before it happened, no warning lamps or messages. Fluid would dispense to rear window meaning system is operational and there is fluid in the tank. Windshield washer fluid tube runs under the insulation on hood of car, found the tube has become disconnected from T-joint under the hood and fluid was running into engine compartment and not on wind shield. Defect happened at ~20,000 miles on car.

SEAT BELTS
2 complaints
I have had 2 incidents in which the 2nd row seat belts on either of the end seats fails to release. The first incident resulted in a seat belt being wrapped around the headrest and unable to release. I had to take the car to a mechanic for it be undone resulting in a broken headrest. This was in May 2024. Today the seatbelt was stuck around my child's abdomen. The seatbelt got tighter around his stomach and he tried get out of it. I parked the car and tried to get the seatbelt to release and it refused to. It continued to get tighter and tighter making it difficult to breathe. I had to call 911 for assistance on the side of the road. 2 police officers had to help me lift him and get him free- the entire time the seatbelt refused to release. My son has bruises and scratches from trying to get out and now is terrified to wear a seatbelt. There is something wrong with the mechanism for the seatbelt that does not allow it release. I am now scared that if we are in an accident and the seatbelt tightens across someone's chest or one of my children's neck that I won't be able to get them out in time. This has been reported to Jeep who advised that I fill out this form.

No warning lights have come on. Two different dealerships have worked on this car 10 different times over the course of a year. In November, 2023 I sent a certified letter to jeep with my concerns and I also contacted Chrysler board of arbitration by phone (# given to me by Ohio Attorney Generals office) on 12/1/23, 12/4/23, 12/5/23 and left messages each time. I never received a call back about my messages so I got an attorney in December 2023 for the rattling noise my car has made almost the entire time ive had it. -Bought in May, 2023 -Heard the noise and put it in the shop for a pre-vacation inspection to fix what was going on before me, my 2 small kids, and my husband drove to Florida. Seemed weird to have such a new car in the shop already with noise safety concerns. -Been back and forth to dealerships more times than I should have to...a couple times theyve had my car for 3 weeks at a time. Everytime I have to unload/load carseats when i drop off and then unload/load back up when i get my car only to find it hasnt been fixed. -My attorney acts like he is at the complete mercy of the manufacturer for a resolution and this lemon case has gone on for 9 months now. -i need a safe, reliable car and for this process to be resolved in a more timely matter. I am currently at a Jeep dealership now becasue again, I will be traveling this weekend with my kids in the car even though I am uneasy about doing so but I cant stop living but it seems unfair and like no one cares that we are driving around in a car that no one can fix or that I paid a lot of money for a reallllly noisey car that I have to take back and forth to the shop a million times and worry and stress about if it going to cause a crash while im driving down the highway.

I was driving on a major interstate and my car suddenly stopped shifting the gears to allow for faster speed. RPM's were going up to 6 and 7 and the fastest I could go was 30mph. I confirmed my vehicle was only in Drive, and was not in a "sport mode that allows for manua shifting". Was able to safely get off the interstate and pull over, This could have caused a accident. Shut down vehicle and restarted and then performed correctly. Called dealership and they stated they wouldn't be able to get me in for 3 weeks and if the vehicle is now not doing it and issue can not be duplicated there wouldn't be anything they can do.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
2 complaints
I rented a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee at our local airport (Monterey, California) and drove it to Los Angeles and back for a total of about 700 miles over four days. I am an experienced driver and have been working on cars all my adult life. On several occasions, I attempted to the use the cruise control function to set a fixed speed for my journey. In doing so, I would first turn cruise control ON, accelerate to the desired speed, then MOMENTARILY press the SET button, at which point the vehicle would 'remember' my current speed and maintain this speed indefinitely. Nothing unusual about this, and it's how I've used cruise control in multiple cars over the years. Now, as in a lot of cruise control systems, one may use the SET button to cause the vehicle to accelerate, instead of pressing on the gas pedal. This is also a common way of doing things. One holds down the SET button, the vehicle increases speed, and once the vehicle gets to the desired speed, one releases the button and the current speed is maintained. But not in this Jeep Grand Cherokee. Instead, I found that if I pressed and held down the SET button for a few seconds that the vehicle would CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE long after I had released the SET button. For example: Traveling at 75 mph, I held the SET button for two or three seconds and released it. The vehicle began to accelerate at about two seconds, but continued accelerating for a period of twenty seconds, until I finally stepped on the brake, at which time the vehicle had reached 91 mph. In my run to LA and back, I tested the system several times. In the above example, I used my cell phone to make a video recording of the event. I'm glad to share this with NHTSA staff. My general belief is that this is not a one-off defect. It is the way the system is designed to behave, and it's unsafe. There are a few comments on the web pertaining to 2021 & 2022 Jeep products that support what I have said here.

I am reaching out to discuss a serious and concerning issue I recently experienced with my Jeep Grand Cherokee L. While driving, the vehicle suddenly lost power steering completely, making it incredibly difficult to control. This was not only unexpected but also quite frightening, given the potential for accidents in such situations. To add to the concern, about six warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. Notably, messages like "Blind Spot Monitoring System Unavailable", "Lane Assistance", and, most critically, a warning about the power steering were displayed. I noticed the check engine light come up as well and the detectors on my mirrors were lit up as if the entire system was malfunctioning. Having looked into potential causes, I came across a recall notice for the 2021-2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L models regarding a steering assembly issue. I am deeply concerned that my vehicle might be affected by this recall and, considering the risks associated with such failures, I believe this matter needs urgent attention. Additionally, I had my little one in the car and am deeply concerned that we could have potentially been involved in an accident related to the malfunction. I’m reading that others have experienced the same issues
Oct 31, 2023
Crunk up the vehicle to leave work and power steering immediately went out, messages and warning lights saying lane departure and blind spot warning were unavailable. No issues prior to this. I drive it to work with no issues or warning lights. I had it towed to dealership because it was unable to be driven. Thank God I was just in a parking lot and not driving down the highway when this happened. It can cause a wreck, killing myself and or another person in the vehicle with me as well as other people involved in the crash. Dealership gave me the run around and I was not able to speak with just one person. Nobody there was communicating with each other causing more chaos and frustration. This Jeep only has 3,315 miles on it so it should not be doing this.

Vehicle Purchased 05/27/2025 6/6/2025 - 9 days after purchasing the vehicle i was left stranded in the parking lot due to the battery issues. The vehicle showed a warning stating to "Service Charging System" and the entire system locked out and the vehicle was towed to to the dealer for evaluation and was there for over a week. When I received the car back they stated it was just the battery and not the charging system/hybrid system. 12/03/25 - While driving on the freeway, warning lights started coming up and the seat belt bell started going off even though everyone was buckled. Then my power steering was disabled, the ABS system was disabled and the breaks stiffened, lane assist was disabled, the airbags were disabled, and the SOS calling, and the engine shut off. When trying to change lanes we had to use extreme force to turn the wheel and the emergency lights wouldn't engage when the button was pressed. Due to the brakes being stiff beyond reason it took us passing 3 freeway exits to slow down enough to force the car off of the road. I had my children in the car and was terrified i was going to be in a crash or worse, lose control and veer off of the road. When i was able to pull off of the freeway, I was not able to drive as the car was continuing to shut off every few feet. I had to have my vehicle towed home and they next day when driving it to the dealer it was still without power steering, the ABS system, Airbags, the brake pedal was extremely stiff and the seatbelt bells were going off even though I had my seatbelt on from first getting into the car. Myself, my fiancé and our children's live were put at risk due to this vehicle failure. I picked my car up from the dealer today 12/5/2025 and they advised this was an issue with a connector that was replaced but the entire system had to be reset. I would also like to include that the vehicle now has an open recall that has no remedy and the dealer/Mfr. have yet to provide any updates.

While my wife was driving our 2023 plug-in hybrid SUV, the vehicle suddenly lost all power steering assist. The steering wheel became extremely hard to turn and she could not safely control the vehicle. I had to verbally guide her to pull over into a very unsafe area because the vehicle became nearly impossible to steer. The failure happened instantly with no warning lights, messages, or prior symptoms. The vehicle was completely undriveable. I had to call a tow truck and pay out of pocket to have it towed directly to an authorized dealer. We were forced to take an Uber home. The dealer confirmed that this model currently has multiple active safety recalls, including recalls involving high-voltage battery fire risk and potential loss of propulsion, and that they could not inspect the vehicle immediately due to limited staffing. This incident posed a significant crash and injury risk because the driver was unable to steer the vehicle with normal force. The sudden loss of steering assist created a dangerous situation on a public road and required emergency towing. The vehicle is now at the dealership awaiting inspection, and the failure can be inspected upon request.

Unsafe, Defective Vehicle & Refusal to Remedy Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Overlander VIN: [XXX] Purchase Date: [XXX] Dealership: Route 18 Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, East Brunswick, NJ I purchased this vehicle new in June 2023. From the first weeks, it has displayed severe, life-threatening defects that make it unsafe and undriveable. Despite presenting it to seven authorized Jeep service stations and contacting both the dealership and Jeep/Stellantis repeatedly, no effective repair, replacement, or buyback has been provided. The SUV has just 1,000 miles yet has been out of service for over two years, resulting in substantial financial loss and hardship. Safety Defects HVAC/Defrost Failure: After 20–30 miles, the A/C stops cooling and blows only hot air. The blower often shuts off completely, fogging the windshield and reducing visibility to zero. Jeep has acknowledged this defect under NHTSA Recall 24V111 (Manufacturer Code 04B), but no remedy has been made available. HUD Mirror Glare: The Head-Up Display mirror is misaligned and reflects light from headlights, streetlights, and sunlight across the windshield, producing blinding glare and making safe driving impossible. Failed Remedy Attempts Seven Jeep service centers refused long test drives, logging less than 5 miles even though the HVAC issue occurs after 30–50 miles. Route 18 staff admitted seeing the HUD glare but told me to “tint the windshield.” Management was dismissive, and Jeep/Stellantis corporate has ignored all follow-ups for over two years. Impact and Remedy Requested I have paid tens of thousands in loans, insurance, towing, storage, and rentals for a vehicle I cannot safely drive. I request an immediate buyback or full refund, or replacement with a safe, defect-free vehicle, plus reimbursement of all related costs. This Jeep is unsafe and abandoned by dealer and manufacturer. In February 2025, my jeep would flash a “Service Hybrid System” code that would last about 3-5 seconds and disappear. This happened about 4-5 times over the next few months, code would not stay up and vehicle seemed unaffected. On June 10, I was driving with son on a highway about 60 mph when my car completely shut off, no power to engine, no power steering- absolutely nothing. We experienced a very aggressive jerk when this happened and I limped the vehicle off to the shoulder- we live in a remote area and I had no cell service. I was able to restart my car and drove it in “e-save” mode home. The next day, I drove my car again and had my son and daughter in the vehicle and the same exact thing happened. I was driving about 55mph around a corner with a large semi coming at me in the oncoming lane and my vehicle shut off and lost power and power steering. I was terrified that I would veer into that truck and there was not a shoulder readily available. We had to yet again limp the vehicle a few yards around the corner to pull off and I did not have service. So I had to walk to call my husband to pick my children up. The car has been at the dealership since then and told there is a digital crash code showing with no eta on a fix. Stellantis has denied a buyback yet my car has 26,000 miles on it and is under warranty with no eta on fix. Vehicle is unsafe to drive and unfixable for 60 days now.

A known issue by jeep affecting many Grand Cherokee PHEV Hybrids, all following the 95 B recall. The recall repair 95 B is attributed to be causing Red Flag Dashboard Warnings to "service hybrid system". Dealer computer scans document these incidents as a "Digital Crash" of the vehicle's onboard computer. Multiple incidents for me have been transitory but for others, these digital crashes are causing engine shut downs on the highway -- see the attachments for 4 such cases downloaded from the Jeep website. Obviously crazy things can happen when a car's computer shuts down while driving -- no one knows if my next Digital Crash could shut down my engine when I am in a multi-car passing situation on a 2 lane highway at 70 MPH and yet that scenario is happening to others. I have seen 3 jeep dealers and have documentation on those digital scans for my vehicle-- Jeep is aware of the problem but they have no-fix. There are over 500 complaints on the public jeep 4xe website across multiple conversation threads of people having this exact problem. You can see from the attachment that the dealers are telling owners that the cars are 'unsafe to drive' because they do recognize that the next digital crash of the computer will be a fatal accident. None of these problems existed before that recall was available in January. Something in that NHTSA 95 B recall for the Grand Cherokee PHEV was defective and is causing these digital crashes -- jeep does not dispute that, at least from what I have been told. Jeep has to be required to do another recall to fix the earlier 95 B recall. It has been close to 6 months now without a fix and nothing is happening. It is probably a software fix, but it needs to be done and at this point it appears that they must be forced to do so by NHTSA. Please see the 4 attachments of what others have encountered. < on your below questions -- Multiple incidents, multiple dates, multiple speeds for me>

Driving down interstate going 78mph in hybrid mode and the car shuts off and I was able to get over to the side of the road since traffic wasn't bad at the time. Restarted the car and went on my way with no other issues until last week. Driving down the interstate again in hybrid mode and the "service hybrid " light starts flashing and so I changed to all gas for the remainder of the trip. Took it to the dealer yesterday and they had no answers other then they updated the software. We shall see but how it works but I have my doubts that it wont cut off again or have issues. Only has 14K miles on it when this stuff happened.

My Jeep has been a consistent problem. The vehicle gives many warning and "service powertrain" warnings in the dashboard. Additionally, at the same time as the warnings, the vehicle will lurch - slowing down significantly and making passengers in the vehicle panic. I have gone to the dealer to already fix not 1 but 5, yes FIVE, recalls related to the powertrain system. This last visit (today) I was told that Stellantis acknowledges the issue, but does not have a fix. This vehicle was clearly not ready for production and Stellantis needs to be held accountable to it's customers.

While driving, the vehicle sends a message that the automatic cruise control has shut down, the car starts slowing down and doesn't respond to pressing on the gas. Vehicle: 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk 4xe Problem Description: While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle suddenly loses all propulsion and displays a message stating: “Put in Park Before Restarting.” This happens without warning, creating an immediate safety risk in traffic. The engine shuts down, and I am forced to stop in the middle of the road, shift to park, and manually restart the vehicle. This has occurred multiple times. The dealership and Jeep customer service acknowledges the issue but says no repair is available and has not resolved it. I’ve also been without a reliable vehicle since February 2025. I am aware of NHTSA complaints #11579877 and #11576290 describing identical problems in the same make/model/year. I believe this defect is related to the battery or hybrid powertrain system and poses a serious safety hazard to myself and others. I am also aware of NHTSA Recall 24V720000 related to battery issues, which may be linked to this sudden power loss. Symptoms: •Sudden loss of drive power •“Put in Park to Restart” message •Dash warnings (wrench/lightning bolt/hybrid system fault) •Must restart car to regain function Date problem began: [Feb 2025] Mileage: [17000] Vehicle still unrepaired and unsafe to drive.

Monday 4/28, as i was driving at approx. 35-38 mph the vehicle came to an abrupt and hard stop, like someone just pounded on the brakes, the engine ceased running. A large red wrench looking icon and something about the battery flashed very quickly on the screen. After a matter of time (please note this was very frightening,, and am unsure of the elapsed time) the car restarted and I continued very slowly to a corner where I could pull off the road and contact the dealership. At the rate of speed I was traveling I was forcefully slammed into the steering wheel, there were cars behind me and in the adjacent lane. My dog in the rear compartment and in her kennel was also forcefully thrown. This vehicle has had on going battery issues and many others as well. This is not the first report I have filed. Vehicle has been at the dealership for one week, I had to insist upon a loaner which they could not provide. Jeep has a program for a comparable vehicle which they set up and which has not provided a comparable auto. I have had no word from the dealership as to repair and issue found. The ongoing safety issues with this vehicle and it's battery system are totoally unacceptable for me. The jeep has spent 3.5 months from 10/14-mid 01/15 parked due to fire or explosion possibility. It has been in the shop repeatedly for up to two weeks at a time with heating and cooling issues. This latest is just another in a long stream of problems unaddressed proprerly by the Jeep corporation. As the vehicle is still in the shop at the dealership I have no items to download at this time.

Jeep Cares case [XXX] While driving with Lane Keeping Assistance/cruise control enabled, on a dry clear road (XXX) Between Exit [XXX] and Exit [XXX] - both directions. It has happened elsewhere, but these are our major commuting route. The jeep would all the sudden veer to the right or left out of the lane, and we would have to fight the lane tracking to keep it centered in lane. Our Jeep Wrangler has been in the repair shop for at least 4 occurrences of the issue. 1st was initial diagnosis at about 6,000 miles. Was told that the sensors needed realignment and to bring back so they could keep for the day and it was long process. At that appointment we were told that the alignment was out and needed to be adjusted. During the adjustment, a part was damaged and needed to be replaced, the replacement part was damaged requiring a 3rd part. Time in shop was almost 30 days. 2nd attempt was about 24,000 miles. This time the alignment of sensors was performed, but on test drives, it still ended up pulling to the right and repair shop consulted with Jeep engineers about the situation and determined that at least one part needed to be replaced. Time in shop was another 30 days. After this repair, it pulls even harder and requires additional force to maintain center lane, including more occurrences pulling to the left into oncoming traffic. At 35,000 miles, opened case with Jeep Cares as warrantee is due to expire at 36,000 miles. Jeep currently at repair and after multiple test drives... they are not able to find the trouble. This is a safety issue as it unexpectedly pulls the vehicle into oncoming traffic. I have owned this car for almost 1 year. from day one this "radio" area 10" screen with a computer behind it has been over heating and glitching out. The effects of this are several and random. Freezing and restarting randomly. Calls dropping from car to phone and back again intermittantly. While using gps maps will freeze so i miss turns and i am not where the maps says i am. After reversing the backup picture on screen from camera will sometime freeze on screen even 5 min after I am moving forward and it is a frozen picture. Most recently a disturbing saftey issue is that i was backing into my driveway and the screen froze and not backing up warning sound or visual was real time and i almost hit my fence, as my screen showed green lines and that i was plenty far away when in fact i was inches from the fencing. The dealership has replaced the glass screen but NOT the modual or computer behind it. They have sent me softare updates over the air. The engine would randomly accelerate , rev and make a whining noise, slip into neutral and I would have to pull over and shut it off sometimes in an unsafe area. Occasionally when I would start the engine it would rev as though I had my foot on the gas and I would shut it back off. I was traveling on the highway approximately 70 mph and cancelled the cruise control to go around a curve and pressed on the gas to merge into 70 mph traffic on another highway, and nothing happened. When I got to the end of the ramp the car was going 32 mph with my foot to the floor on the gas panic stricken. Suddenly the gas engaged and I shot into the traffic trying to avoid me. I took the car home, parked it in the garage and called a local dealership for service explaining the problems I was having. I went to resume my trip in a friends car because I was frightened to drive mine. While I was away my partner went to move the car a few feet to get to the trash barrel and when he put it in reverse the car shot 8 feet at high speed out of the garage and hit a tree. He went to the hospital and the car was taken on a flatbed to the dealership where I purchased it. There is considerable damage. The acceleration problem happened at least 15 times and I have several adults that were in the car and witnessed it. Chrysler did the diagnostics and said there is no defect. My vehicle has in cold weather no ability to clear and defrost the interior cabin of the vehicle As described in the recent recall, issued by JEEP, my Vin number was not included as part of This problem is obviously related, and the condition described in your campaign number is an exact match for the condition I experience during the winter months. While driving in Boston in heavy traffic, my vehicle fogged to the point where I couldn’t see where I could pull over or if I could pull over or the vehicle in front of me fogged to the point of visibility and every window I had to put my hazard lights on and stop in the middle of traffic. I reported this to JEEP directly, they attributed it to a design defect? The most recent Recall issued by JEEP left my Vin number out. With respect to the issue with the headlights Activating in auto mode. My vehicle does not have high beam headlights. When the high beams are activated There’s absolutely zero change in lighting conditions and the fog lights stay engaged. Stellaris failed once again to identify all the applicable VIN numbers. What else are they failing to include as there have been four major safety recalls with my make model and year jeep that did not include my Vin number which is disconcerting to say the least. Especially given the most recent airbag recall In the possible lack of activation. In my opinion, they are limiting this recall by guessing what production dates apply and are ignoring the vehicles that were produced immediately after or during the pandemic, which had items such as rear differential swapped out to a mechanical differential because they didn’t have the stock electronic diff in stock at the factory when the vehicle was built. A reasonable and prudent person would assume that major issues such as these would’ve been missed or overlooked when there were parts shortages as result of the pandemic and supply chain issues and not when things returned to “normal”.

The problem happens intermittently and not all the time. I will be driving on the highway or in the city and sometimes when I barely touch the gas pedal my car will accelerate at high speeds, and the RPM gauge will go all the way into the seven mark and it Turns red and it starts beeping and the only way to get that off is for me to let off the gas pedal and come to a stop and then shift it from drive to park and then that’ll usually fix the problem. And other times when I’m on the highway. I will barely touch the gas pedal and it’ll accelerate at high speeds and I’ll have to go from the gas pedal to having to slam my brakes on to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. A friend of mine who had driven my vehicle, called me and asked me if I noticed that it was doing that as well and I explained to her that I I was aware. I have not taken it to the dealership yet for that problem yet however, I do have an appointment made. The vehicles climate control/hvac system has inadequate ventilation that prevents air movement to occur. In cold tempatures all all of the vehicles windows fog and ice over form the inside. During cold weather conditions, the rear passengers, windows, and rear wind window, even with defrost drawn ice up immediately along with the double moon roof. Problem limits, visibility, making the vehicle, unsafe to drive due to the limited visibility caused by this inadequate and design deficiency. There are no heating system vents besides in the front dash of the vehicle due to the moonroof. The rear climate controls do nothing to remedy of the issue . When I reported the issue to JEEP corporate immediately after purchase, they acknowledged the design deficiency, and that they were working corrected for future models. This is unacceptable and creates a hazardous driver condition for any vehicle. Had I know this prior to purchase I would have never bought the vehicle as there is no remedy.

My insurance company advised me to file a complaint with you and also with Jeep before they become involved. Please advise me as to what steps I should take. SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
1 complaint
The contact leased a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the brakes were inoperable. While driving in a parking lot, the brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle was slow to respond. The ABS, traction control, and brake warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to the wiring. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle at the dealer parking lot, the same warning lights illuminated. The brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The vehicle remained at the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 5,364.

There is extreme vibration in this vehicle and it gets worse daily. I believe there is something terribly wrong with this Jeep and it's not due to poor alignment. I also experience very hard / stiff bounce back when on bumpy roads. Something that should not be so bad with this type of Jeep. I recently met a woman with a 2022 Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve who said she is experiencing the same exact things. I don't think this is a coincidence.

1 complaint
The contact owns a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that after parking on an incline and activating the electronic parking brake, the electronic parking brake failed to disengage. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the rear electronic parking brake actuator had failed due to water intrusion. The actuator was replaced but the failure later reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 17,000.

STRUCTURE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
As noted on the IIHS.org website, 2022 and 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee's built prior to April 2023 experienced a fuel tank rupture in the side impact test conducted by IIHS. Stellantis redesigned the underbody structure to correct this issue. This redesign was put in place on vehicles assembled after March 2023. IIHS originally tested a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee in October 2022 and identified the fuel tank rupture during the side impact test. However, IIHS did not post this information on their website until almost a year later when tests of the redesigned vehicle were performed, and the fuel tank leak issue had been corrected. Hence, 2022 and 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s built prior to April 2023 have a significant safety concern that IIHS did not inform the public about in a reasonable time frame and more importantly, Stellantis is aware of but has not issued a recall to correct the issue on vehicles that were built prior to the redesign. Please review the side crash results on IIHS paying attention to the 2022 test where the fuel tank ruptured. Brings back memories of the infamous Ford Pinto gas tank design. I am asking for NHTSA to assist in requiring Stellantis to issue a recall on vehicles built prior to the redesign to either modify the vehicle to address the fuel tank rupture concern, or if that is not possible buy back the vehicles. Please contact me by e-mail [XXX] ) of cell [XXX] if you require more information to pursue this issue. Thank you. We have a recently purchased Jeep L with 5200 miles on it. Never off road, just a family commuter. Today my wife was driving the car for the second time and the power steering went out completely and it was very hard to turn the wheel. A bunch of other likes came on like the adaptive cruise and active lane management and front collision icons. The dash was lit up with warning including a large steering wheel icon in red. We shut the car down and restarted multiple times and the issue was still there. After 15 minutes of being on the phone to get it towed to the dealer, the issue went away on the next start with just a check engine light remaining.

The vehicle while in cruise set at 70mph accelerated to nearly 90mph and would not disengage even when brake applied, had to turn vehicle off. It has done this twice almost causing an accident. Vehicle has also suddenly applied the brakes very hard while driving approx 55 mph, nothing in front of vehicle. Apparently vehicle was applying the brakes because when we reached home the brake rotors were glowing cherry red. Dealer has looked at it once and said in is probably our pedal getting stuck on the floor mats. I did not have foot on any pedal while in cruise. This last time no check engine light cam on.

Non exist any warning lamp, messages, or other symptoms of the problem before the failure.

Airbag requiring service light came on at 100 miles. Then the SOS call button was stuck lit up with an error message on the touch screen every time vehicle was started. Then the AEB system went off while driving (not in danger of being in a crash) and brought the vehicle to a stop and put itself in Park and shut off. Vehicle would not start again after that. Had to get it towed

Incident #1 - Power steering issue. While exiting the driveway, I lost power steering along with unresponsive controls such as "lane management" and "traction control." Alert on dash read, "power steering unavailable," and engine light was on. After turning the vehicle off, power steering and other controls returned after about 20 minutes of occasionally turning the vehicle off and on again. Service was performed with a "software update." Incident #2 - About a month later, while driving on the road, I abruptly lost power steering and the ability to accelerate, as the gear shift disingaged and was unresponsive. I pulled over to a rolling stop and tried shifting gears but the gearshift still would not respond. I then turned the vehicle off, waited a few seconds, then turned it back on. After doing so, all controls were restored. I didn't check for warning lights. The vehicle was not taken in to get serviced. Safety risk - Had these malfunctions happened on a busy street, it definitely could've caused a serious accident, as my control of the vehicle was very limited. The vehicle is available for inspection.

I took delivery of the vehicle on February 15, 2023. On May 23, 2023 I was driving 35 MPH and without warning, I lost power steering and the brakes (felt like bricks when I tried to stop the vehicle). The vehicle never slowed and continued at 35 MPH. I had to swerve to not hit other vehicles as I was going through stop lights. I put the car in neutral and it slowed down and then put in park.after about 3-4 attempts of turning off/on, the steering started to work as did the brakes. I drove the .5 mi down the street with my hazard lights on back to my house. At that point the engine light remained on. The dashboard lit up with numerous alerts (I made sure to take pictures of everything). I called a tow truck and sent pictures to the dealership. They had the car for 2 days, called and said that they cannot duplicate the issue, despite receiving and reviewing the pictures I sent. They said no other option but to pick up the vehicle or let the service tech drive the vehicle overnight to see if the issue could be duplicated.

While driving the vehicle on two different occasions. One was out of town and the screens and dash board going black. I tried turning off the vehicle and back on to reset it. It did not work! Then on another occasion the screen went black would not power off. The dash screen read ALM and cruise control unavailable needs service. I drove straight to the dealership and showed them. They scheduled service the next day. Got a call one of the service technicians was aware of the situation and stated Chrysler needed to provide a recall on the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee or create an update for the software system. Vehicle is still not fixed. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.

On four separate incidences, the automatic emergency brake engaged while driving the vehicle at speeds in excess of 30 mph. There was no warning or reason for the emergency brake to engage. This resulted in the car needing to be towed to the dealer on two occasions as the vehicle froze and was not drivable. The dealer states they are unable to diagnose the problem or fix it as there are no codes that populate during the diagnostic session. This is an obvious safety hazard as this is a family vehicle with two small children in the rear seats.

There are multiple safety recalls for this vehicle that I have only had for 1 month. I began the new lease with this vehicle beginning of March and the vehicle has been back to the dealership 4 times already. Issue #1: The middle part of the steering wheel where the air bag is located came completely off the steering. It was dangling almost causing my boyfriend and I to get t-boned. Since the middle part of the steering wheel was dangling and me trying to turn the wire got caught in the steering wheel not allowing me turn. I was also very lucky that the airbag alone did not deploy in my lap. The car is currently at the dealership getting "fixed" I truly believe that this specific car has multiple recalls. There was no warning at all just came right off. Issue #2: Underneath the car the seam sealer was faulty and the dealership has to weld the underneath of the car back together. There was also no warning to this I could hear the pieces clinking together underneath the car. Issue #3: The gas pedal vibrates when you hit speeds 40 mph and above to the point where my foot goes numb. This puts my ability to drive the car at risk especially if my foot goes numb from driving my car. The vehicle is back at the dealership to get this issue fixed for the second time. No warning lamps or messages for this issue.

1-Powertrain wobbles and vibrates at 70MPH / Safety issue and can cause shaft failure/accident due to a weak/worn-out mounts and cause the drive to loose control. 2- Control Arms/Ball Joints Defects at Factory - Going thru bumps the front-end will produce noise and vehicle will shift/skip-jump of the pavement. Safety hazard and can/will cause driver to loose control.
