My Jeep does not charge when plugged in. I've had it at the dealership 6 times in the past 2 years and they are unable to fix this. There is a current recall. I am advised to not charge the vehicle, don't park near structures, don't park near other cars. I have no street parking in the village of Fairport during winter. I'm a teacher at an elementary school and there's no where to park away from other cars. I took my Jeep to the dealership after Stellantis approved rental reimbursement until a fix for the recall was developed. Rental reimbursement approval is in 30 day increments. I submitted my receipt to Stellantis for reimbursement as instructed. It's been over a month and I have no reimbursement check. I'm am not out over $2000. waiting for my preapproved rental reimbursement. I turned my rental in and picked up my jeep from the dealership for fear of never being reimbursed for the rental. I am now driving an unsafe vehicle that is being parked next to my home and near cars and busses at school wear I teach. I have email records of all communication with Stellantis/Jeep US customer Care.

Received an alert that the hybrid system had failed. We have not used the vehicle since all of the recalls have been received as we are too afraid for our safety and the safety of others on the road. The Jeep Dealer confirmed there is no solution or fix to any of the recalls and referred us to the leasing company. I requested to be let out of my lease since there was not a resolution, and I am too afraid to drive the vehicle or put my child in it and they denied my request. I have only had the car a few months and it is not fair that I have to pay for something that is a possible danger that I cannot drive because there is no remedy.

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the main battery in the vehicle was draining faster than normal. The contact stated that the battery was charged overnight, and in the morning, the battery gauge indicated that the battery was at 98 to 95 percent charge; however, the contact stated that after driving for approximately 30 minutes, the charge was at approximately 20 percent. The contact stated that the battery warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that recently she had experienced a problem with starting the vehicle and needed numerous attempts to start up. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System). The contact called the local dealer and the manufacturer to have the vehicle repaired. The contact was advised by the dealer and the manufacturer that the remedy was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

The vehicle is not charging to full capacity. I brought it to the dealership, and they informed me there is no available solution. This issue is extremely concerning, as the car poses a fire risk even when turned off. Very concerning: The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is affected by multiple active safety recalls, primarily related to the plug-in hybrid system. The most significant one involving fire risk (NHTSA recall 24V-720 / Chrysler recall 95B) covers 2022–2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe models (among others). This stems from potential internal failure in the high-voltage battery pack, which can lead to fires even when parked or driving.

My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is subject to two active safety recalls that have rendered it unusable for over one month. RECALL 1 - BATTERY DEFECT: Vehicle subject to recall for high-voltage battery issues. Stellantis installed software to throttle charging but has NOT replaced the defective battery components. This is a temporary workaround, not an actual repair. The manufacturing defect remains in the vehicle. RECALL 2 - ENGINE SAND CONTAMINATION (Recall 78C/25V766): Vehicle may have engine contaminated with sand from casting process. Stellantis's recall warns of catastrophic engine failure, vehicle fires, and unexpected loss of propulsion. When I contacted Stellantis, I was told there are NO parts available and NO timeline for repair. IMPACT: Due to fire risk and catastrophic failure potential, vehicle has been sitting unused for over one month. I cannot safely drive it. MANUFACTURER RESPONSE: Stellantis refuses buyback despite having no ability to repair these manufacturing defects. Software throttling is not a repair. No parts exist for engine fix. These are manufacturing defects Stellantis admits through recalls, yet they leave consumers with $80,000 vehicles that are unsafe to drive and cannot be repaired.

I have this 2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe on lease and it has had multiple safety recalls since I have acquired this vehicle. The latest recall has no fix and can result in an engine fire. Not only do I not feel safe in this vehicle; I am unable to charge the battery b/c this can cause a fire. This negates the purpose of having this vehicle and paying a premium for it. NHTSA campaign number: 25V741. Jeep’s current recall number is 68C. Prior recall numbers were 24V720 and 23V787. I am requesting an early termination of this lease w/o penalty. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and contacted Stellantis directly and they refuse to take back the car due to a recall.

Electrical failure. Received the car about 5 months after liquids from the car were leaking on top of the battery, causing corrosion on the battery. Most recently check engine light went on and car began to overheat on its own. Hot air did not work and only cold air would come on. Car continued to say temperature too hot and began to smell like smoke.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

The rear turn signal on the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is very small. Following vehicles seem to have difficulty in seeing a signaled turn. This condition is exacerbated when driving into the sun. On several occasions, when attempting a left-hand turn and stopped for oncoming traffic, following vehicles have had to brake hard to avoid a rear end collision. This puts the occupants of both vehicles at risk for injury. It is unknown if this condition has been reported to the manufacturer. Because it is a design issue it is unlikely to be resolved by a dealer. The turn signal indicator in the instrument panel was functioning and a visual conformation of the functioning turn signal was made after the incident.

High beams only working when physically holding the handle down. Automatic high beams not working at all and won’t come on unless you turn off automatic high beams. We took it into Flow Jeep in Charlottesville today where they told us they had heard about this issue from others, but that Dodge Jeep had not found fix and continue to claim it works as it’s supposed to. That cannot be when you cannot get the high beams to come on without physically holding the paddle. They cut the automatic highbeams on, which now means I cannot get my highbeams to come on at all unless I physically hold the handle down. You cannot drive holding that down the entire time. The car is now not sensing when it’s evening time and changing the interior lighting, so it’s not as bright. I have to go in and physically change that. We live in the country. This is a huge safety risk. We need Jeep to fix this.

Manufacturer officially admits a risk of catastrophic engine failure and vehicle fire due to sand contamination, but states that no remedy is available. There is no remedy for the engine fire risk (Recall 78C). I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. The dealership (Fred BEANS, Doylestown PA) confirmed the recalls but cannot fix the engine issue. I am requesting a vehicle repurchase (buyback) because the safety risk is unresolvable at this time. I am filing this complaint because my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is subject to a high-priority safety recall (25V-766) involving catastrophic engine failure and vehicle fire risk. Despite the manufacturer admitting that a remedy is currently unavailable, I have attempted to resolve this through Jeep Customer Care (Case #95326573). However, the Case Managers have failed to provide any resolution or safety assurance. I have informed them that I do not feel safe operating a vehicle that could catch fire or lose power on the highway, yet they continue to delay the process and offer no alternatives. Management at Jeep Cares is not solving this issue and has left me stuck with an unsafe, fire-prone vehicle. The lack of a remedy combined with the lack of effective corporate support is unacceptable for a safety-critical defect. I am requesting NHTSA's assistance in ensuring the manufacturer takes immediate responsibility for this dangerous situation.

I am reporting a safety concern involving a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit 4xe. In under 15,000 miles, this vehicle has been subject to multiple safety recalls, including: Recall 78C – Engine fire risk (no remedy available) Recall 68C – Engine fire risk Four additional recalls, and Two engine warning events, indicating potential drivetrain or electrical instability The repeated nature of these defects, particularly multiple engine fire–related recalls, raises concern about the ongoing safety of this vehicle platform. There is currently no available remedy for Recall 78C. Despite this, the vehicle remains in active service under a lease, creating a situation where safe operation cannot be reasonably assured. I am requesting NHTSA review of: the adequacy and timeliness of remedies for these recalls, whether affected leased vehicles should remain in service when no fix exists, and manufacturer handling of vehicles with repeated safety failures.

Avis rented me this car with an active safety recall. The key fob even had a small sticker on it that had "Safety Recall" handwritten on it, indicating they were aware there was an active safety recall (these things are literally lighting on fire) -- and put me and my family's lives at risk. This is a flagrant violation of the Raechel and Jacqueline Houck Safe Rental Car Act. They refused to fully refund me for this glaring breach in safety.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, Vehicle bought new in July 2025! 3 incidents of loss of propulsion occurred while city driving from August to October in 2025. Recall 73C performed on Oct 22, 2025! On 11/18/25 requested vehicle inspection from Mcinerney auto center (Troy) per advise from Mcinerney Dealership (Alpena). While test driving had a sever transmission failure which vehicle had to be towed back to auto center. Vehicle remained on lot for 7 days with no repair! Towed (AAA) to Jim Riehl’s Friendly (Romeo) and determined sever leak from transmission. Fixed with no apparent issue with trans. Vehicle driven in hybrid mode without battery charged from Dec 4,2025 until Jan 19, 2026!!! Recall 68C performed on Jan 20,2026. Now we have recall 78C (Nov 2025) with no fix insight!!! This recall is sand in the engine from casting process! This can be a long term problem along with the hybrid battery fire possibility with the previous recalls!!! So, this vehicle is not reliable short term and for sure long term! These recalls are major recalls for a new vehicle. We want a new vehicle or our money back ASAP!!! We want the Vehicle Manufacturer to call us ASAP!!!

My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xE has been at the dealership service center since [Date] due to the recall identified as NHTSA Campaign 25V766000. The component involved is the engine, which is still installed in the vehicle and available for inspection upon request. The recall notice states that debris inside the engine may cause engine failure, resulting in loss of drive power or an engine compartment fire. Safety Risk: This issue puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the vehicle could lose power while driving or catch fire unexpectedly. Confirmation of Problem: The problem has been confirmed by the dealership, and they advised that the remedy is still under development. Inspection: The vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer’s authorized service center, but no repairs have been performed because there is no available solution. Warning Signs: There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the recall notice. I proactively brought the vehicle in after learning about the recall. Current Situation: I have been without my primary vehicle for an extended period and am currently in a rental provided by Jeep. However, I have received no timeline for a fix, nor any indication if Jeep will replace or buy back the vehicle. This indefinite delay is unacceptable given the severity of the safety risk.

Transmission sticks and does not change gears which causes motor to run with extreme high RPMs. Must pull over on side of the road to stop and reset transmission. There have been multiple electronic issues resulting in numerous diagnostics. Also malfunctioning cameras sensors. Vehicle is subject to Recalls 68C (Fire Risk) and 78C (Loss of Propulsion). Manufacturer states remedy is 'Not Yet Available.' I am instructed not to charge the battery and to park away from structures. I cannot safely park the vehicle at my home or use the electric propulsion I am paying for. The vehicle presents an immediate fire hazard and risk of catastrophic engine failure on public roads.

THIS HYBRID VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A BATTERY THAT CAN COMBUST AND CATCH ON FIRE. A REMEDY IS UNAVAILABLE - THE CAR IS A SAFETY PROBLEM TO MY FAMILY SINCE IT CAN NOT BE CHARGED OR HOUSED IN MY GARAGE. THIS CAR WAS LEASED FOR ITS HYBRID OPTIONS FOR MY TRAVEL TO WORK - BASICALLY I AM PAYING FOR A FEATURE I CAN NOT USE. I ALSO WORRY ABOUT MY FAMILY DRIVING IN IT AS WELL. I WAS NEVER INFORMED BY ANY CORRESPONDENCE FROM STELLANTIS REGARDING THIS RECALL - IT WAS DISCOVERED BY MY OWN RESEARCH FROM NEWS ARTICLES. THERE IS NO IMMEDIATE REMEDY AND STELLANTIS REFUSES TO RELEASE ME FROM MY LEASE. THIS PROBLEM WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP I LEASED THE VEHICLE FROM. THIS SUV IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION AT ANY TIME

Reference prior recall 68C/NHTSA 25V-741. Had Jeep serviced for this recall. Was advised the vehicle passed the software update. Noticing that when the vehicle is in Electric mode there is a loss of power when the % range is at the halfway mark. This was a prior issue as well with recall, 73C/NHTSA 25V-576. No point in taking me to a Jeep dealership to review. They will not do anything unless there is a specific software associated with the issue. Wanted to make note that the issue per my personal vehicle does not appear to be resolved. There is no public correspondence as to what Jeep is rectifying with the battery manufacture. Reporting that this continues to be a dangerous issue.

Driving on highway( no other cars or overpass in area) and sunroof on 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee exploded. Sounded like a shotgun going off, then loud flapping sound . Fortunately the Sun visor was closed or the shattered glass would have caused serious injury to driver & passengers, and could have resulted in serious or even fatal accident. The noise of the explosion scares you & could cause you to have an accident, especially if the sun viser over the sunroof had not been closed. Caused me to have to get to side of road in a construction area at night, not a safe situation. Reported to dealer next morning, were told Chrysler would have to review to see if covered. This vehicle is less than 1 yr old! No warning and no previous problems with sunroof.

The catalytic converter had to be replaced after 3000 miles. Vehicle was purchased in September and it had to be replaced in December. Had to take vehicle in twice for them to diagnose the problem.

it failed to shift out of low gear while merging onto the highway and the engine revved up to 6000 rpm as a result. I read that this is happening to other owners and the dealerships are unable to locate the problem. This is the first time that this happened to me, but from what I've read it will happen again. I'm afraid that the engine or transmission might blow up injuring me or or another vehicle next to me on the highway. I'm also afraid that if something does fail that it might cause me to lose control of the vehicle. I currently have a call into the dealership, but with what others have stated online, the dealerships have not been helpful in isolating the problem. There was no indication of any type (lamps or messages) that there was a problem.

10/24 Loss of power while driving. Dash indicated vehicle was not on. Tried pushing the ignition button but received the message that vehicle could not start unless it was in park. Accessory power continued allowing me to pull to the side of the road. Fortunately I was not on the freeway but on a residential road. Was able to restart after putting the vehicle in park and drove the few blocks to home. Vehicle was operating in Hybrid mode and had 2% left on the battery so it had not switch to ICE mode at the time of the incident. Reported the issue to Jeep and they arranged towing to the dealership. Dealer reports no codes and cannot find an issue. Vehicle is still at the dealer as of 11/1. The September recall was done early in October and since then the hybrid warning light has not come on like it did before the software upgrade. Did not experience a loss of power before the recall software was installed.

Lost power temporarily traveling on highway. Recall exists but Mopar says they have no fix but aren't providing owners with alternative transportation or offering to take the vehicle back. If this issue is significant enough to warrant a recall and stop sale then the vehicles should not be on the road.

In traffic, in drive, at speed 40 MPH, vehicle shifted automatic transmission to low gear, dropped speed to 10 MPH, every alarm indicator came on, RPMs were in the 6K red line range, was able to pull of the road, engine shut down, was not able to shift, restart, or use key fob functions. Towed to dealer replaced aux battery, replaced TCM valve body assembly. Vehicle mileage 4,380.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
5 complaints
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed and approaching a stopped vehicle, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system failed to engage, and the driver needed to depress the brake pedal at the last minute to stop the vehicle. The contact performed a test of the automatic emergency braking system. The contact stated that while two individuals were holding a beige sheet, the contact drove towards the sheet at 70 MPH, and the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system failed to engage while the vehicle was near the sheet, and the vehicle struck the sheet. The contact then drove towards the sheet at 6 MPH and struck the sheet, then the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking beeping sound engaged. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact provided the recording of the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system failure to engage as needed; however, the contact was informed that no failure was found. The Service Director at the dealer informed the contact that the engineers for the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The manufacturer called the contact and offered monetary compensation to keep the vehicle; however, the contact declined the compensation and requested a trade or buy back assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer offered to trade the vehicle for a 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact test drove the vehicle with a staff member from the dealer inside the vehicle, and the vehicle experienced the same failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.

My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ) has experienced repeated safety-related failures. With only 3,169 miles, the vehicle became inoperable shortly after purchase and remained at a Florida dealership for 9 months waiting for parts. The hybrid battery and related components were replaced. After picking up the vehicle, while driving from Florida to North Carolina on [XXX], the Check Engine light came back on. A cooling system failure was diagnosed, which caused critical safety systems to stop functioning: the forward collision warning sensor, radar, and driver-assistance features all became disabled. A technician also discovered that a component requiring nine bolts was fastened with only two, indicating improper repair or assembly and creating a serious safety hazard. I brought the vehicle to AutoStar CDJR in Hendersonville, NC, where additional issues were documented: rattling/thumping noise under the vehicle at highway speeds, wind noise entering through the front windshield, and the Check Engine light still on. The advisor noted in writing that the vehicle had been in the Florida dealership for nine months and now shows new faults. As of December 7, 2025, the vehicle is again in the repair shop. I no longer feel safe driving it. The repeated failures of the hybrid/electrical system, cooling system, and critical safety sensors, along with evidence of improper assembly, represent a significant safety risk. I request that NHTSA investigate these defects, as they appear to indicate a broader safety issue with this model. The failure mileage was 137.

The system does not work in my 2024 Grand Cherokee. My dealer agreed to take me out for a drive and after several attempts to get the system to engage (straight on rear end, corner of a stopped vehicle, corner of an exiting vehicle) nothing! No audible, visual or brake jerk. The technician was an awesome driver because he scared the ---- out of us trying to get the system to engage. Service advisor had the tech take out another 2024 GC to perform the same test. We went with him. Same thing.....nothing. In both SUVs multiple tests at varying distance setting were performed. They tried to tell us that nothing is wrong because when diagnostics were run there were no codes, no error messages so no problem. Told them that isn't good enough. They finally agreed to open a "star" (I think) report with corporate and I will be taking my GC into the shop on September 11th through the 13th. There are many other Jeep owners stating the same thing. Effects multiple models and multiple model years. [XXX] has threads that are discussing the problem and Jeep Cares is a member of that forum. I have also seen complaints on a Jeep Compass owners site. I believe Jeep is fully aware but many owners may not be familiar with how the system works. Dealerships are telling customers that they can't fix the system because the diagnostics aren't registering a fault. I had three incidents where I was cutoff by other drivers and the system did not engage. The system is supposed to work at 3 miles per hour or greater, but it doesn't work at all. Brand new vehicle with 11 miles on the odometer. The emergency Braking system does not work. If I go into the settings and make a change to emergency braking, such as far or close, the message “Auto Emergency Braking (AEB) Unavailable Service Required” will come up on the cluster display. Once I restart the vehicle it goes away. If I go back into the AEB settings and make a change, the message will come up on the cluster again. When I restart the vehicle and the message goes away, it still does not seem as though the Auto Emergency Braking system is working. This is very dangerous.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

This complaint is being filed as an update to prior NHTSA complaints regarding the same vehicle and Recall 78C. The issues described below remain unresolved. My vehicle is subject to Recall 78C, which warns of a defect that may result in catastrophic engine failure due to an engine block casting issue. The recall was issued approximately 90 days ago, and the status remains listed as “remedy under development,” with no repair available and no timeline provided. Since the recall was issued, I have contacted Stellantis three separate times in writing requesting: confirmation whether the vehicle is considered safe to operate while the recall remains open, and transportation accommodation while no remedy exists. None of these emails have received a response. I also contacted two authorized Jeep dealerships seeking transportation assistance. Both initially stated they do not provide loaner vehicles and are not required to follow corporate directives. Both later stated loaner vehicles do exist but were unavailable and subject to a waitlist; however, neither dealership took my information or placed me on a waitlist, nor provided any follow-up. No meaningful transportation accommodation has been provided. I have been advised only that rental reimbursement may be available, which does not prevent continued operation of the vehicle. As a result, I am being forced to continue driving a vehicle under an active safety recall that explicitly warns of possible catastrophic engine failure, without a remedy, without a timeline, and without alternative transportation. This complaint is submitted to document the prolonged lack of a remedy, manufacturer non-response to repeated safety inquiries, failure to provide interim accommodation, and continued requirement that I operate the recalled vehicle.
Jan 29, 2026
I am reporting unresolved safety issues involving multiple open recalls on my Jeep vehicle, including a high-voltage battery recall and an engine recall with no available remedy. Jeep has advised owners not to recharge the vehicle and to park away from structures or other vehicles due to fire risk, yet also states that owners may continue driving the vehicle. However, the vehicle automatically regenerates battery charge during normal driving even when regenerative braking is turned off. This behavior was not explained in the recall notice and creates confusion about how to safely operate the vehicle while complying with the “do not recharge” guidance. I am also experiencing intermittent Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) warning alerts, which raises additional safety concerns while driving under recall conditions. Another open recall related to the engine currently has no available remedy and has been unresolved for an extended period of time. Despite the safety nature of these recalls, Jeep has declined to provide a loaner vehicle. Jeep Customer Care states loaners are at dealership discretion, while dealerships state they have not received authorization from Jeep. Jeep has instead directed me to an out-of-pocket rental reimbursement program that requires the customer to front rental costs for an unknown duration, which is not financially feasible. I am concerned about being instructed to continue operating a vehicle with known safety risks, conflicting guidance, warning alerts, and no reasonable accommodation while remedies remain unavailable.

To Whom It May Concern, My name is [XXX] . I am a Florida resident and the lessee of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, VIN [XXX] . Due to repeated and serious mechanical and electrical failures involving the hybrid system, I have already retained legal representation. My Lemon Law case is currently being handled by: CPLG – Consumer Protection Law Group Despite this, the situation continues to worsen and the process has become unreasonably prolonged. Major components, including the hybrid battery, have already been replaced. Nevertheless, the vehicle continues to experience recurring failures. Importantly, the vehicle previously remained at a Florida dealership for approximately eight (8) months for repairs, and the issues still were not permanently resolved. At this time, the vehicle is once again in service at a dealership in Hendersonville, North Carolina. I have now been waiting for the third consecutive week with no clear timeline for parts availability or when the vehicle will be returned to me. As a result, I am forced to rely on rental vehicles on an ongoing basis, which requires changing vehicles every Friday. This is extremely inconvenient and disruptive for me and my family. With the holiday season approaching, the uncertainty regarding when (or if) my vehicle will be repaired and returned has significantly increased my stress and anxiety. This situation has gone far beyond normal inconvenience. It is now causing ongoing emotional distress and has negatively affected my mental well-being and daily functioning. Although a Lemon Law case is already in progress through CPLG, the continued delays leave me no choice but to submit parallel consumer complaints in order to seek expedited review and resolution. I am formally requesting immediate review and intervention under Florida Consumer Protection statutes and applicable Florida Lemon Law provisions. This is a follow-up to my previous complaint. My 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues to show safety-related system failures that have not been addressed by the dealership or Stellantis. The main new issue is a malfunction in the regenerative charging system. I have this feature turned OFF, yet the vehicle continues to engage regenerative charging while driving. This indicates a failure in the system’s control logic. I am also experiencing intermittent AEB system warnings. The AEB warning light activates randomly during normal driving with no obstacles present, creating uncertainty about whether the system will operate properly when needed. I reported these new issues to the dealership, but they stated they cannot schedule service until after Christmas and cannot provide a loaner vehicle. Stellantis has also not offered a solution. I am forced to continue driving a vehicle with malfunctioning safety and braking-related systems. This is an unresolved and escalating safety defect that requires investigation and immediate manufacturer action.

Component Failure: This vehicle has suffered a recurring "Loss of Motive Power" (LMP) while in motion. On [XXX], for the third time, the internal combustion engine shut off completely while the vehicle was being driven in traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This incident occurred on a public road in New York during a severe winter storm with over a foot of snow on the ground. There were two children in the vehicle. The sudden loss of propulsion in heavy traffic and hazardous weather conditions created an immediate risk of a rear-end collision and left my family stranded without power or heat in freezing temperatures. Confirmation & Inspection: This is a documented, repeat failure. The manufacturer has confirmed the defect previously and even reimbursed me for a prior repair attempt. However, the issue remains unresolved. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Jeep dealer during previous failures, but the "remedy" provided was ineffective. I am currently awaiting a new inspection for this third occurrence. Symptoms & Warnings: Prior to the total engine shutdown, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated on the dashboard. In previous instances, the manufacturer cited software errors or internal contamination as the cause. I suspect this is related to existing NHTSA Recall 25V-766 (Engine Sand Contamination) or Recall 25V-710 (Hybrid Control Software Failure). Additional Context: Despite the life-threatening nature of this repeat defect, the local dealership refused to provide a loaner vehicle, and the manufacturer (Jeep Wave) is refusing to fully cover the cost of a rental vehicle. I am currently paying out-of-pocket interest on delayed reimbursements from the manufacturer. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I am filing a complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, which currently has a high-voltage battery fire-risk recall with no remedy available. This recall states the vehicle should not be parked in garages or near structures due to fire risk. This makes the vehicle unsafe to use as intended. My vehicle has also experienced four total recalls, repeated check-engine warnings, and it was in the service department recently (within the last week) with no mention of the battery recall and no resolution for the ongoing issues. I have attempted to contact my dealership (Fred Beans Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Doylestown, PA) and the General Manager but have received no response for over a week regarding options for a safe loaner vehicle or next steps. The lack of remedy, the safety risk of fire, the inability to safely park or charge the vehicle, and the dealership’s failure to respond place my family at risk and leave the vehicle effectively unusable. I am requesting NHTSA’s assistance in documenting and escalating this unresolved and hazardous situation.

My jeep is a 2024, with just about 12,000 miles. On Monday, May 5, 2025. My Air Conditioner stopped working. It was only blowing out warm air. Now I’m told there’s some kind of AC leak and it will take 2-5 days for parks and a full day to repair. After reading reviews. This is a known issue with 2022 jeeps. This needs to be an issue with 2024. This is my 3rd jeep and I’ve never had issues like this.

Vehicle does not start consistently and when it does it shows reading of “key fob has left the vehicle” when key fob is actually in the car. Car has been towed and would not start. Dealer duplicated this issue and Stellantis says currently no fix. I just park in my garage and hoping they will do the right thing and repurchase and replace my vehicle.

My Jeep Cherokee 4xe is under an open safety recall for a high-voltage battery defect that can cause a fire while the vehicle is parked, charging, or driving. The manufacturer’s instructions require owners to NOT charge the battery and to NOT park the vehicle indoors or near structures. This makes the vehicle unsafe to store or operate. Stellantis has no remedy or repair timeline available. When I contacted Stellantis, they refused to escalate the case or provide assistance. The vehicle poses a serious fire hazard, and I am unable to use it for its intended purpose. I am requesting NHTSA review due to the severity of the safety risk and lack of remedy.

Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Limited Issue Type: Fuel System / Fuel Gauge / EVAP / Hybrid Interaction Safety Concern: Incorrect fuel-level indication, fuel overflow, unreliable range estimation Description of the Problem: The vehicle’s fuel gauge and range indicator have become inaccurate and erratic. The gauge showed about 95 miles remaining, then dropped rapidly to a low-fuel warning. At the gas station, the pump shut off at approximately 8 gallons, even though the vehicle indicated low fuel. When I manually resumed fueling, gasoline immediately overflowed from the filler neck. There was no gasoline smell prior to this event. After driving away from the station, the remaining range increased, then decreased again, fluctuating by about ±10 miles. The fuel gauge and range readings continue to be inconsistent and unreliable. These symptoms began recently and are getting worse. The vehicle is currently being operated in Hybrid mode only due to an existing recall advising not to charge the battery. This issue creates a safety risk because: The fuel gauge may not reflect the true fuel level, Overflow during refueling poses a fire hazard, and EVAP or tank-pressurization malfunction may be occurring. Frequency: Problem has occurred on multiple consecutive refueling attempts. Safety Risk: Fuel overflow, inaccurate gauge, possible stalling or running out of fuel unexpectedly. Dealer: Issue reported; diagnosis pending. No modifications have been made to the vehicle.

A couple brake pumps to inch closer to ensure all clear. Once clear and removed foot from brake and attempted to accelerate into left hand turn vehicle accelerated approximately a 2-4 feet while in drive, auto park and emergency brakes abruptly engaged. Disabling the vehicle from movement, and locking gear knob from movement. Removed emergency brake and attempted to return car in drive with foot applied to brake, gear knob was still locked and would not engage. Turned off car and turned back on and gear engaged as normal. All of this took place while in oncoming traffic lane. Thankfully the oncoming traffic stopped and waited for me to move my vehicle. This could have been a critical accident. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Brakes Locked up/auto parking brake engaged, yes available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Yes, thankfully oncoming traffic stopped. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Awaiting appointment date. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Awaiting appointment date. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, I was in a state of panic and could only remember seeing something about the parking brake engagement.

I had signaled to turn E on [XXX] . I turned on my signal and began moving slightly to the right to get into the right turn lane, depressing my brake pedal at the same time. The brake pedal with little downward travel (an inch or less?) jammed and would not allow me to depress it any further. I had zero braking ability. A white car heading West on [XXX] , seeing I had my turn signal on and was moving to the right, began to pull out to make the LH turn onto [XXX] and go south. When my brakes totally failed, I swerved violently to the left, as my subconscious mind apparently indicated I was traveling too fast to make the RH turn. The white car continued to enter [XXX] , and by some miracle, I managed to make it around that vehicle as I swerved into the oncoming lane that, thankfully, had no approaching traffic. I continued N on [XXX] and tried several times to depress the brake pedal to stop but could not depress it more than a tiny bit, my wife yelling frantically, asking me what I was doing. I said, “the brakes don’t work!” It was as though the brake pedal had a brick beneath it, even though it did not have any obstruction. With the engine still running, I glided to a stop just short of [XXX], pulling over to the curb as I halted. Still, I could not depress the brake, so I put the vehicle in “park.” The engine still running and being on the main road just short of the turn into the housing development, I thought I should put it in “drive” and go around the corner for safety. On several occasions, FCW activated unexpectedly in low risk situations (in driveway, pulling into neighborhood) May 2024 & Nov 2024. While driving 60MHP on a 4 lane highway during rush hour on May 19, FCW activated unexpectedly; immediately taking me down to 20MHP. The “BRAKE” warning and beeping remained with the brakes activated for 30-60 seconds. I was unable to accelerate. Vehicles behind me had to swerve to avoid impact. As I was pulling off the highway immediately following, FCW activated again and I was nearly rear-ended. There were no vehicles in front of me for a least a mile during these incidents. Vehicle has been inspected by 3 separate certified Jeep mechanic. All claim they cannot identify an issue with the vehicle as there are no active codes in the system. The dealer has not been able to reproduce the concern. It appears to happen every couple thousand miles. My safety and my family’s safety and other drivers are at risk if this vehicle remains on the road unfixed. The sudden braking could cause a major accident. Jeep refuses to address the issue. The dealer insists nothing is wrong because the issue is not found.

I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (plug-in hybrid), VIN: 1C4RJYB69RC714841, due to repeated loss of propulsion events while driving, including during highway merging. On multiple occasions, the vehicle has: Shifted into neutral without any driver input and failed to accelerate while merging onto a highway, behaving as though it was stuck in a gear or in a protective failsafe state Most recently, while accelerating onto a highway, the vehicle would not respond to the accelerator pedal, forcing me to pull off the roadway. I had to place the vehicle into Park, wait briefly, and then resume driving in order to restore propulsion. Twice i had to perform this on the on ramp. Very dangerous! These are the most recent incidents that have occurred, but the issue has happened at least half a dozen times before. Only now, more often. While driving in Hybrid mode (on January 17th, 18th with my daughter present; also occurred on Jan 22 (after leaving Jeep dealer and having performed TCM & PCM updates), Jan. 23 & 24) With the hybrid battery depleted (normal operating condition) With no warning lights, alerts, or messages displayed before or during the events The vehicle was taken to an authorized Jeep dealership (Safford Brown in Sterling, VA), where PCM and TCM software updates were completed, and the dealer reported “no issues found.” Despite this, the loss of propulsion issue has continued to occur. This condition presents a serious safety risk, particularly during highway merging and acceleration, where the inability to accelerate could result in a collision. The issue appears to be intermittent and does not consistently trigger fault codes or warning indicators. I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue for potential investigation, as it involves unexpected loss of drive power while the vehicle is in motion. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, Danette Spruston

My vehicle is subject to FCA Recall #78C / NHTSA Recall #25V-766, which identifies engine contamination that may lead to catastrophic engine failure, vehicle fire, or unexpected and unrecoverable loss of propulsion, potentially resulting in a crash without prior warning. The recall is currently listed as incomplete, with the remedy under development and no repair parts available. I contacted Stellantis Client Services to request guidance regarding safe operation of the vehicle while this recall remains unresolved and to inquire about any interim accommodations or support. Stellantis has advised me in writing that no assistance, accommodations, or compensation are available at this time and that I should wait until a remedy becomes available. Given the severity of the risks acknowledged in the recall and the absence of any interim safety guidance or mitigation measures, I am submitting this complaint to document the situation and request review.

On 01/08/2026, while driving approximately 55 mph in Scottsdale, Arizona, the sunroof glass on my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee suddenly fractured and shattered upward without any known external impact. Ambient temperature was approximately 40-45°F and cabin heat was set to approximately 80°F. There was no rock strike, chip, crater, or starburst impact point observed. The fracture appears to originate in the center of the sunroof panel. Vehicle mileage was approximately 21,924 miles at the time. No crash occurred, but the sudden glass failure created a safety hazard and driver distraction at highway speed and required immediate repair. The vehicle was inspected at Chapman Dodge Scottsdale (Repair Order 7444177). The area service representative denied warranty coverage and attributed it to “impact,” stating the glass can bow upward due to cabin pressure from HVAC, despite no identifiable impact point being documented. I am reporting this as a potential safety defect involving unexpected sunroof glass failure.

The Active Lane Management (ALM) system shuts itself off which the displays a warning on the the instrument panel to indicate it has been disabled. If you try to turn it back on manually, it gives a warning that the system is unavailable and service is required. It will not allow you to manually turn the ALM system back on. I've taken it back to the dealership (9/7/25 repair ticket attached) where it was purchased but there were no computer codes shown to indicate what the problem was. They did an system update which did not fix the problem. Shutting off the engine and re-starting will clear this issue and you don't know when it may reappear (it could be the same day or possibly several weeks before it does it again). The service department has suggested I not shut off the engine but immediately bring it to them to see when this happens so they can run a scan for potential code(s) but they're an hour away and not always open when this occurs. My vehicle was purchased January, 2025 and has 10,300 miles on it now. I have a photo of the service required notification from September 4, 2025 showing mileage of 7,988 (attached). It had been doing this for approximately a month before I was able to get the photo. It continues to be an intermittent problem resulting in the loss of a safety feature of this vehicle.

Recall 25V-741 (Manufacturer Recall 68C) affects my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe. The recall notice states that, due to potential high-voltage battery cell separator damage, the vehicle may catch fire even when powered off. Jeep instructs owners not to charge the vehicle and not to park inside garages or near structures. There is no remedy available, and Jeep has stated that remedy identification may not occur until Q1 2026, with additional delays expected for parts and repairs. As a result of these instructions, I am unable to store the vehicle safely at my home, since my residence only has attached garage parking. My workplace garage has also prohibited these recalled vehicles from entering due to fire risk. The vehicle is currently kept at the dealership because it cannot be safely stored. Jeep’s interim support is insufficient. They offer only $60/day rental reimbursement, which does not cover a comparable vehicle, and only $50 per rental period in taxes, leaving owners with significant out-of-pocket costs while their leased vehicles cannot be used for an extended period. This places owners in the position of either paying significant out-of-pocket expenses for an unsuitable rental vehicle, or continuing to park, store, or charge their vehicles in ways that contradict Jeep’s fire-risk guidance. While the recall is not labeled as a “stop drive,” the instructions functionally prevent safe use or storage of the vehicle. I am reporting this because the current interim guidance and lack of remedy create ongoing fire risk and practical safety issues for owners with no safe place to store the vehicle and no adequate interim solution.
Dec 05, 2025
My vehicle is affected by Recall 25V-741 (FCA recall 68C), which involves a risk of high-voltage battery fire due to potential internal separator damage. FCA’s NHTSA filing instructs owners to refrain from recharging the battery and to park the vehicle away from structures or other vehicles until a remedy is available. The recall remedy is not available. FCA Customer Care advised me by phone that the vehicle is “safe to drive in e-save mode unless symptoms appear,” which contradicts the recall notice because the defect can cause a fire without warning or symptoms. This vehicle automatically recharges the high-voltage battery through regenerative braking and engine charging, making it impossible to comply with the instruction to “refrain from recharging.” During another discussion, a technician also told me that the “stop sale has nothing to do with the safety of the vehicle” and advised me to “drive normally.” When I asked about the prior cases where vehicles covered by this recall had caught fire, the technician replied, “Well, they’re still around, right?” This guidance minimizes the documented fire risk and contradicts the official recall filings. The vehicle cannot be safely used or stored under normal conditions, and no interim solution or transportation has been provided. The dealer stated they were instructed by the manufacturer’s warranty team not to assist and reiterated that no remedy exists. I am reporting the unsafe and contradictory guidance from the manufacturer and the inability to safely use the vehicle while the recall remains unresolved.

I purchased a used 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (approx. 64,000 miles) from EIDE Chrysler in Waite Park, MN on 9/30/2025. On the initial drive home, a “Service 4WD” warning appeared. Before I could return for the axle repair, a Check Engine Light for the hybrid system also appeared. After purchase, I also began experiencing exhaust fumes entering the cabin, which is a health and fire concern. At the time of sale, the dealership provided two contradictory recall printouts for the only recall they disclosed—one stated a remedy was available and one stated no remedy was available. I was verbally told the recall had been repaired. This was inaccurate. After the sale, I discovered that my vehicle now has two open NHTSA safety recalls, both with no available remedies: • 25V741 – High-voltage battery fire-risk recall (federal stop-sale order applies). • 25V766 – Engine contamination recall that may cause engine damage or failure. These recalls did not exist at the time of purchase, but the dealership never notified me when they were issued. Stellantis only notified me of one recall; I had to discover the second by checking my VIN on NHTSA’s site. The drivetrain warning, hybrid-system fault, and exhaust fumes occurred despite very low mileage after purchase. The vehicle currently has multiple unresolved safety defects, including fire risk and potential engine failure, and cannot be repaired due to lack of available remedies. I have opened a case with Jeep/Stellantis (Case #: 94881053). I am reporting these issues because the combination of drivetrain malfunction, hybrid-system warning, cabin exhaust fumes, and two unrepaired safety recalls poses a significant risk to occupants and other drivers.

on 11/28/2025, I received recall notice 68C/NHTSA 25V-741, from FCA US LLC. The recall affects my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4Xe, PIH. The recall states that the vehicle is at risk of catching fire, due to damage that may occur to the high voltage battery, during normal vehicle operation, and that there are no remedies for this condition currently available. In addition, owners are advised to refrain from... 1. Recharging the vehicle 2. Parking near structures 3. Parking near other vehicles Unfortunately, I don't live near an open field, so numbers 2 and 3 are nearly implossible. I contacted the FCE recall hotline today, and was told that someone from their "safe parking and rental car" team would be contacting me. This vehicle is leased through Stellantis motors. I have a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE and have owned it for about 11 months. I bought it new. For the first 7 or 8 months, no problems at all. However, in the last 2 or 3 months, the truck has intermittently shutdown while driving. It's happened on the highway and on local streets. I've taken it to two Jeep dealers for service, and neither could replicate the problem. It's not showing any fault codes when they diagnose. One dealer said they updated the software and should have fixed the issue. It hasn't. I am afraid to drive this vehicle and will never let my wife drive it. I've searched online and see others have had the exact same issues. I need to get this vehicle repaired by Stellantis/Jeep otherwise I'll be forced to return it.

I have been having this error message appear intermittently in the car upon starting the vehicle since I purchased the vehicle in August 2024. See attached photo. The message appears seconds after starting up and will go away. Lane keep assist will turn off but I can turn it back on. Additionally, I have had a similar occurrence in multiple occasions while driving where these systems will turn off and present an orange light on the dashboard. I’m not able to turn the systems back on when this happens. It will reset itself after turning the car on and then off. I have had it in the dealer for this. The explanation was if the battery is below 80% charge this will happen. Seems like a weird response. You would think that if it happens once when the battery is allegedly under 80% charge, if you immediately turn off the car, and restart it ( not giving the car time to charge) it would happen again. I have tested that and it appears untrue. Appears to be some sort of software or sensor issues within the car. I have seen this issue online and the dealer seemed familiar with it on other cars.

the issues I'm experiencing are a rubbing sound when breaking and turing the wheel. THE CAR TURNED ON AND COULD NOT BE TURNED OFF. nothing worked or responded no matter what you pushed. The brake sensor and lane assist diagnostic fault codes (error codes)popped up which they couldn't find a bulletin or error code to replicate the issue. The vehicle would not read the key fob, it would say the fob had left the vehicle because the door opened, or if i move the key while in the vehicle( bulletin for this issue). I get the call that my vehicle is ready and I'm driving away and the steering wheel vibration coming from the engine between 40 and 49mph feels like I should be driving on rumble strips, but the drive is smooth, this is coming straight from the engine or transmission when you accelerate through the steering wheel. This was not an issue before they ran their tests and fixed said problems. The computers are still updating on the screen and I hope that it evens out when the car turns on and off and the computers reset.NOW TODAY the car starts dinging and error codes are flashing on my dash. It's the lane sensor and the lane assist error code going crazy. This was the issue they couldn't replicate or find a bulletin on. Here's the fun part, the problem becomes more consistent when I apply the brakes. One time the brakes seem to not work properly. All these error codes pop up when you initiate the braking system. Then the final error code was warning me that the breaking system was faulty. I drove it straight to the dealership and left out with them again.

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while her mother was driving, the rearview camera displayed a distorted image while the vehicle was in reverse(R) and failed to sound as intended, compromising the back-over prevention system. The contact stated that the failure prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact stated that her mother had been involved in a low-speed parking lot accident. The vehicle moved forward and hit a brick wall, where it came to a stop. It was unknown if warning lights were illuminated. The driver-side and passenger-side air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a collision center. The body damage was repaired. However, the rearview camera was not repaired. The insurance company was contacted. Weeks later, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign number: 24V944000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION). On a separate occasion, the contact was driving at 5 MPH while parallel parking, the rearview camera image froze, compromising the back-over prevention system. The contact stated that the failure prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact hit a cement flower pot, where it came to a stop. The driver-side and passenger-side air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries sustained. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact who is a State Trooper reported that the driver of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee was fatally injured when a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle. A witness reported that the vehicle had stopped in the left eastbound lane on [XXX] when a second vehicle traveling approximately 70 MPH crashed into the rear of the vehicle. During the crash, the driver was partially ejected from the closed sunroof. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to the hospital with multiple fractures. No further information was available. The contact indicated that medical personnel removed the deceased driver from thru the sunroof of the vehicle and no doors had opened during the crash. While investigating the crash the contact reported that the steering wheel had separated from the steering column and was located near the rear seat area. Also, there were no visual signs of damage to the steering column or any sheered-off bolts from the steering column present. The contact indicated that an eye witness also indicated that the vehicle was driving erratically prior to stopping. The vehicle was later towed away. The cause of the incident was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet contacted. The failure mileage was unknown.

Crash: 1
Injuries: 1
-Steering boot popped open causing steering rack assembly to need replacement at 3,216 miles. -Power steering warning light engaged making me aware of an issue on 8/5/24. A strange cranking noise when making u turns occurred infrequently. -Car was taken to a repair shop on 8/5/24 where prior suspension, steering and wheel alignment work had been done on 6/25/24 due to fender bender. Diagnostic was performed and repair facility advised that code stated that a "power steering (computer) update was needed" and that Jeep would have to perform the necessary computer update. -Car was subsequently taken to Jeep dealership on 8/5/24 and dealership stated that a new power steering rack assembly was needed and that manufacturer warranty would be notified. Communication from dealership on 8/28/24 added that steering boot was torn and that incident was billed as additional claim to insurance incident on 6/25/24. -Vehicle component has NOT been confirmed by manufacturer and dealership is unwilling to pursue inspection of part because vehicle was involved in a fender bender on 6/25/24 at 2,410 miles. - Initial repair facility does not believe that damage to steering boot existed on 6/25/24. -Insurance representative has confirmed damage and paid additional claim, but cannot confirm if it was caused due to a defect in the part. It is my opinion that this issue may be caused by a defective part due to the timing of the issue and visual inspection of the part. I would like for NHTSA to evaluate the soundness of this power steering component due to the documented power steering component failures and recalls of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo models manufactured 2021-2024. Due to the fact that the two repair facilities provided entirely different reasons for the power steering warning light, I would also request an investigation into the code that should appear when a power steering boot or steering rack assembly fails verses the code for a power steering "computer update".

The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while his son was driving 50 MPH on the expressway in subzero temperatures, the vehicle started to shake abnormally. The driver pulled over and noticed oil on the undercarriage of the vehicle. The driver waited for three hours in hazardous weather for tow truck assistance. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the PCV valve had frozen and referred the contact to the local dealer for assistance. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, but the dealer was closed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, and determined there was no warranty coverage on the vehicle for the failure. No assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

While driving in the Los Angelas area on March 24, 2025, on the 210 Freeway approaching the 605 Freeway the vehicle abruptly decelerated from 65mph to 45mph. A message appeared instructing "continue to your destination, do not turn off your engine, if you turn off your engine you may not be able to start it again." We contacted Jeep Connected who directed us to Cerritos CDJR. As we were heading south on the 605 Freeway the vehicle again abruptly decelerated to 28mph. This placed us in a dangerous safety situation as we were at the height of the afternoon traffic. The Service Advisor was able to determine that the Valve Body(VB) and Transmission Control Module(TCM) had failed. Also, both batteries were fully drained of their charge. The mileage was 4095. The comment was that the batteries contributed to the VB/TCM failure. We have continued to experience battery degradation with five (5) batteries having been replaced within the first year of ownership. We continue to identify battery degradation to the dealership but have received no correction to this defect. Over the past four (4) months we have documented "resting" battery voltage at a level where they are at or below 50% of their expected lifetime. While it is suggested that parasitic drain is the cause, we continually ensure that lights, radio, heating and air-conditioning and Jeep Connected are turned off when parked. I have documented to the Utah Division of Consumer Protection and NCDS these conditions. The ruling from NCDS is: DENIED. "I have reached this conclusion for the following reason: the customer did prove by shop work orders a Manufacturer defect does exist with the batteries discharging, which has affected the use and safety of the vehicle. However, there has only been three repair attempts with replacing batteries which is not considered unreasonable in my opinion." With the recognition by an Arbitrator that a manufacture defect exists which affects safety, it cannot be limited to my vehicle.

The vehicle is a leased 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was taken out of service due to two manufacturer safety recalls. The dealership retained possession of the vehicle for approximately eight (8) days to complete recall-related repairs. During this period, the vehicle was not safe to operate and no loaner vehicle or alternate transportation was provided. The dealership instructed us to obtain a rental vehicle, stating verbally that it would be covered. Relying on this instruction, we incurred rental and transportation expenses. After returning the rental, we were forced to rely on other private transportation, including Uber, solely because the recalled vehicle remained unavailable. Despite the vehicle being disabled due to manufacturer safety recalls, the manufacturer has refused to fully reimburse these transportation costs. Throughout this period, we continued to pay our monthly lease payment in full and had no reasonable means of transportation. The vehicle has now been returned. This complaint is submitted to document the handling of safety recall repairs that resulted in extended loss of use, lack of alternate transportation, and out-of-pocket expenses borne by the consumer due to a manufacturer safety defect.

On 2 ocassions the vehicle failed to execute a stop. The first was going down a mild hill at 20 mpg; I applied the brakes and the car started to slow and then the brakes felt like there was a shudder and released, and then engaged again and the car finally did stop. That same day on flat ground the same thing repeated. A second brake problem has occurred multiple times; likely 50 - 60 times. When braking and the car downshifts, the vehicle surges forward before slowing again, esp from 4th down to 3rd, of 3rd down to 2nd gear and 2nd to 1st. I have taken this to Reed Jeep in my hometown of Kansas City and not problem was identified. The car has been driven by others who also felt the same. These issues can put others at risk because they have occured when others are driving and they could injure a pedstrian or cause an MVA when the car does not stop. I have ceased driving the vehicle because of this and the battery fire concern and the engine failure from sand concern.

I just recently purchased my vehicle through Mears Mazda locally in Lubbock, TX. At first i did not notice how unsafe it drove due to the recalls. The more i drive the vehicle i notice it feels like there is a resistance in braking or slowing down and getting stuck in certain gears when i am going at a lower speed below 20 mph. It causes concern for me if i am driving in a bigger city or in a traffic jam as this could possibly cause a major accident if a malfunction occurs with the vehicle causing me to cause a multiple vehicle collision on a highway or street. I did ask the dealership prior to signing " Are there any issues known with this model type of Jeep or recalls?" They simply stated no. I have told them that since i had just recently signed my paperwork Friday and trading in my prior vehicle would it be possible to reverse everything, he stated no. I do not know the laws in Texas or if there is an alternate route i can go about this due to it being a safety issue. When I've contacted Jeep there is yet a remedy to fix this issue.

2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe — Ongoing Safety Defects With No Available Remedy I am reporting multiple unresolved safety defects on my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe that create a serious and ongoing risk of injury or death. I have contacted Stellantis bi-weekly since May, and my dealership has repeatedly stated they have no available repairs, no recommended remedies, and no ability to take the vehicle in due to outstanding recalls with no fix. I am being forced to operate a vehicle that is not safe to drive. 1. High-Pitch Electrical Hum and Continuous Cooling Fans While Parked/Off When the vehicle is turned off and not plugged in, it continues to emit a high-pitch electrical hum and the cooling fans run almost constantly. This behavior only occurs during charging or thermal management cycles, yet it happens while the vehicle is off, producing an abnormal load and possible electrical malfunction. Dealership confirms the issue but states there is no fix. 2. Instrument Cluster and Infotainment Screens Blacking Out While Driving Both digital displays shut off repeatedly while I am driving — up to 20 times per day. This removes access to critical information such as speed, warning indicators, and hybrid system status. The dealership again states they have no repair guidance from Stellantis and cannot resolve the issue. 3. Air Suspension Malfunctioning Hazardously The air suspension system releases and refills abruptly and uncontrollably. When I start the vehicle, the system rapidly raises and lowers regardless of mode or setting. It cycles continuously even when parked. The dealer acknowledges the behavior but reports no available service procedure or repair bulletin. 4. Sudden Uncommanded Acceleration When Slowing to a Stop (Most Dangerous Issue) When decelerating below 20 mph, the vehicle will suddenly rev to 4,000–6,000 RPM and lurch forward, requiring immediate and forceful braking to prevent collision. This happens in all modes (Hybrid, Electric, and e-Save). T

I am writing to you regarding a persistent creaking noise in the front end of my vehicle when turning the wheel. I have brought the car in twice already for this issue, but the problem has not been identified or resolved. The vehicle is scheduled to come in again for the same issue. While I have been told it is not a safety concern, I am troubled that the source of the noise remains unknown. Without identifying the root cause, I am uncertain how it can be definitively determined that there is no safety risk. I would appreciate it if you could ensure a thorough investigation is conducted to pinpoint and resolve this creaking noise. But, it does not do it when it is warm out. It started around 25,000 miles and we had to wait until it was cooler outside when they could get it back in and really look at it without the outside tempurature affecting the noise.

On 10/19/2025, my 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe experienced a serious electrical malfunction. When I attempted to start the vehicle, it became stuck in RUN mode and would not shift into Drive. The vehicle also would not shut off — even after pressing the start/stop button multiple times. The hybrid system remained active, and the dashboard stayed illuminated. The only way to power the vehicle down was to disconnect the 12-volt battery manually. This created a significant safety concern, as the vehicle could have remained running unattended or in an enclosed space. Afterward, the check engine light came on. The dealership later stated they “just reset the ECM,” but no explanation was provided for why the vehicle failed to shut off or shift out of Park. This incident indicates a possible defect in the electrical, powertrain, or propulsion control system. It poses a safety risk to occupants and anyone nearby if the issue reoccurs.

While driving 70mph the vehicle had a sudden loss of power which required me to quickly navigate over two lanes of highway traffic to the right shoulder. I had no power or ability to accelerate. I was in hybrid mode with adaptive cruise control active. Upon safely making it to the shoulder of the road, I saw message on the dash saying something about electrical mode unavailable. I turned the vehicle off completely and back on again after waiting approximately 30 seconds. The error message cleared and the vehicle operated normally. This has not happened again after another 1,000 miles of driving, but it is currently being seen at the dealer for another issue with that will not allow electric mode operation, only combustion engine. We believe we may have a vehicle in the 1% outlined in NHTSA 25v-576 and are waiting a solution from the manufacturer.

Emergency electric brake system has set up a number of times on its own always when it was parked. I was towing the car behind a motorhome ,it is 2024 grand Cherokee Jeep Summit with approximately 6600 miles on it ,the electric emergency break system set up going down the road at 50 mile an hour behind the motorhome. The motorhome has 650 hp engine. I didn’t even feel the brakes set up on the car. I saw a lot of smoke behind the motorhome . I pulled over and it turned out the electric brake set and I couldn’t get it to release. I called the dealer where I bought it to see if they could tell me how to release it. They referred me to jeep, I thought sure that they’d have someone but they referred me to a jeep dealer in Santa Fe, New Mexico The dealership had a tow co haul it to the dealership and told me tow ins were 3 to 4 weeks out before they could get in and look at them . After a month and they had not looked at it I had it hauled to Mike Shaw Jeep where I bought it. My concern is that had I been driving that car on interstate highways in Colorado 75 mph or states where it’s 85 miles an hour and the brake set up I’m going to be in the ditch or in the front of another vehicle killing my self and family or someone else family. This Jeep needs to be taken off the road before someone is Killed. I refuse to drive it.or let a family member drive it.have had no satisfaction from Jeep dealers. I had to have a car to drive so I had to spend another $60,000 for a car..

We have an unknown problem with a clunking/creaking noise while driving the vehicle we believe is coming from the front of the vehicle, possibly the suspension or steering. We are not sure we feel safe driving the vehicle since after taking it to the dealer three times in the past year, the dealer acknowledges the clunking but has not been able to identify and fix the issue. We have been told by the dealer it is safe to drive - but if they can't identify and fix the issue - how do they know that to be the case? Without being able to identify the cause of the noise and whatever resulting unusual wear and tear, will we have a catastrophic steering or suspension failure while driving the vehicle? Our 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4Xe Trailhawk, (purchased new) has an "air" suspension - not sure if it's an option or standard on the Trailhawk models. We have had it in to the dealer three times for this issue - this last time the dealer had the truck for 16 plus weeks. The front stabilizer bar has been replaced multiple times, the upper and lower control arms have all been replaced, all four air shocks have been replaced, and a mounting bracket replaced. The dealer told us they opened a Star case with Jeep and the Jeep engineer has been on-site to examine the vehicle. After the engineer requested three different fixes that did not fix the problem, the dealer returned the vehicle and stated they are aware the issue persists and the Jeep engineering group is working on a resolution (even though they no longer have the vehicle in their possession to test solutions). They will notify us when a repair is available.

Speedometer does not function. We have no idea how fast or slow we are going at any given time. It shows random speeds. Fearful we could cause an accident by unknowingly driving too fast or too slow. The speedometer display indicates we are going 40+ mph while we are sitting absolutely still at stop lights & that we are traveling at a variety of speeds including 0 mph while keeping up with traffic on the interstate. Tachometer does not function. The rpm gauge fluctuates wildly while idling and while the vehicle is in motion. Gear Display does not function. We have no way of knowing what gear the vehicle is in or if it will remain stationary, move forward or backwards. Driving this vehicle or simply having the engine on, could very easily cause death or serious injury. Air bags & warning display do not function. The red alert on the instrument panel is constantly lit up indicating that the airbags will not function in the case of an accident. Engine gear display does not function. Display will randomly indicate vehicle is in reverse while we are very clearly driving forward. We have no way of knowing if the vehicle will suddenly change gears a result. Engine randomly turns off while in motion. The engine began randomly turning off while we were driving even after we picked it up from the dealership following the first attempt at repairs. There is absolutely no warning when it happens. We have no way of knowing when, where or at what speed the vehicle will be moving when the engine shuts off. This affects all steering, braking and electrical warning functions. Transmission overheating. Gives multiple alerts indicating that the transmission was running at too high a temperature and needed immediate service by the dealer. We have no way of knowing if the transmission will catch on fire. New Vehicle purchased 5/2. Malfunctioned immediately +returned for service 5/8. NO repair has been successful.
