ROLLOVER PROTECTION VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK HAS FAILED AND GAS POURS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL. AFTER THE PUMP SHUTS OFF, FUEL POURS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND ONTO THE PERSON FUELING THE VEHICLE. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS BEING REPAIRED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS BUT NOT THE 2010 MODEL YEAR, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ISSUE.

SO THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN I HAVE CAME ACROSS, THIS IS OUTRAGED THE COMPANY HASN'T HAD ANY SORT OF RECALL ACROSS ALL PLATFORMS OF THIS GAS TANK. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS GAS TANK, OVERFLOW FORUMS, AND NUMEROUS YOUTUBE VIDEO OF "GAS BURP" IS THE NICKNAME, WHERE WHEN PUMPING GAS. THE CUSTOM LIKE MYSELF MAY BE INCLIND TO LIKE ANY CAR, ONCE THE GAS UNLEADED IS SELECTED, AND GAS CAP OUT, AND INSERTED INTO IT NORMAL SLOT. IT FILLS NORMALLY, AS THE GAS TANK FILLS NO SOUND IS HEARD, AND LASTLY ONCE THE GAS PUMP CLICKS OFF INSERTING THE GAS. IT SHOULD BE DONE, NOT WITH MY TANK MY TANK AT ANY GAS STATION, AT ANY LOCATION, ANY BRAND, OF CIRCLE K, BP, MOBILE, SHELL, QT? THEY ALL OVERFLOW MY CAR!. THIS SPILL ISN'T A LIGHT SPILL, THIS I'D A MAJOR QUARTER OF A GAS TANK STILL EVERY TIME. ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND THE GROUND AND JEEP AND DEALERSHIP RESPONSE, IS YOU HAVE TO PAY 3K TO REPLACE THE WHOLE GAS TANK. WHICH IS OUTRAGEOUS FOR A SAFETY ISSUE OF DUMPING GAS ALL OVER THE GROUND. THERE HAS BEEN RECALLS ON 2007 MODELS, OF JEEPS AND DODGE DURANGO. BUT MY CAR IN SPECIFIC LIKE MANY OTHERS IN THE 2005-2012 RANGE ARE EXPERIENCING IS. A DODGE FLAW OF THE GAS TANK, IT IS THE PLUNGER SYSTEM TO PREVENT BACKFLOW. WELL THE RUBBER STOPPER ERODES TO ETHANOL WHICH IS IN GASOLINE. BUT I AM HERE TO ADD MY CONCERN IF THE ISSUE AT HAND. I WORK FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND TO HAVE CARS SPILLING FUEL OUT OF THE NORMAL CONSUMER USE ANY TIME OF THE YEAR, ANY TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE, AND STATIONS, AND ALSO ANY PUMP NOZZLE WILL DO THE REPEATED ISSUE. I HAVE EVIDENCE OF THIS BUT EVEN YOURSELF CAN GOOGLE GAS BURP CHRYSLER TYPE OF VEHICLES AND IT IS VERY COMMON ISSUE ACROSS FORUMS AND MORE. BEST PART IS, THE WEAR ON THE RUBBER RING IS PAST WARRANTY SO IT OUT OF POCKET CUSTOMERS WHO WIL MOST LIKELY JUST PREFER TO SPILL GAS INSTEAD OF COUGHING UP THE MONEY TO REPLACE A WHOLE GAS FUEL TANK.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FUEL THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING OUT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT NOT FAILURES WERE FOUND. THE CONTACT FOUND A FAULTY CHECK VALVE AND PAID FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE HIS VEHICLE ONLY THE 2007-2008 MODELS. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE MECHANIC FOR THE SAME FAILURE A WEEK LATER AND WAS ADVISED THAT A NEW FUEL TANK WAS NEEDED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.

EVERY TIME WHEN I FILL THE FUEL TANK, WHETHER I USE THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF OR NOT, FUEL BURPS/SPILLS FROM THE FUEL TANK INLET. OVER THE COURSE OF SIX YEARS, THERE HAS BEEN A LARGE WASTE OF FUEL AND MONEY. WITH THIS ISSUE, THE PAINT UNDER THE FUEL TANK INLET HAS BEGUN TO BUBBLE AND PEEL. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THIS VEHICLE ACTUALLY BELONGS TO MY WIFE, AND, WHENEVER SHE NEEDS FUEL, I AM THE ONE TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUE AS SHE IS AFRAID TO FILL IT. I HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE TECHNIQUES TO NO AVAIL. THERE ALSO HAS BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE RETURNED HOME REEKING OF UNLEADED FROM THE SPILLAGE ON MY SHOES AS WELL AS MY CLOTHING. MANY PAIRS OF SHOES HAVE BECOME UNWEARABLE BECAUSE OF THIS. I WOULD LOVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHALLENGE ANYONE TO FILL THIS TANK WITHOUT SPILLING, NOT JUST A FEW DROPS, BUT MANY, MANY, MANY DROPS EQUIVALENT TO CUPS. ALL WE AFFECTED JEEP OWNERS WANT IS ACCEPTANCE OF RESPONSIBILITY AND A SIMPLE REPAIR. THE PART SHOULD BE EXTREMELY CHEAP, AND I'M SURE MOST OWNERS WOULD INSTALL THE PART THEMSELVES. LET'S STOP THIS COMPLAINING OF THE ISSUE AND JUST RESOLVE IT!!!

IT WILL BURP GAS BACK OF THE FILLER NOZZLE. TRIED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. TRIED DIFFERENT TYPES OF PUMPS. ON AUTOMATIC FILL-UP IT WILL CUT OFF, THEN A BIG BURP OF GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE FILLER NOZZLE. HAPPENS MOSTLY IN THE COOL WEATHER, RANDOMLY IN HIGH TEMPS (80F+). DEALER INSPECTED SAID THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM... TOLD ME THE ONLY OPTION WOULD BE A FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT FOR AROUND 1500 DOLLARS. IT IS THE SAME SYMPTOM THE RECALL/WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 2008 JEEP LIBERTY'S COVERED IN THE X46 LIFETIME WARRANTY EXTENSION; HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT COVER ANY OTHER MODEL YEARS AND THIS IS HAPPENING IN OTHER MODEL YEARS. I have replaced the TIPM in March of last year. It has gone out on me February 2024. I didn’t expect it to go out before 12 months. Help

Valve stem failure. Low tire pressure light came on, and tire immediately went flat while driving at 55-60 mph. After tire was changed, went to tire shop where they said valve stem was either blown out or sucked in, and 2 more were ready to fail, so replaced all 4. I didn’t quite understand all, but seemed to have something to do with the tire pressure sensor, or parts of it being worn.

THE ROOF IS LEAKING ALL AROUND WHEN IT RAINS OR SNOWS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS SEVERAL TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP. WATER ACTUALLY DRIPS INSIDE THE VEHICLE, ONTO THE SHIFTING AREA, SEATS, AND THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD WHERE THE RADIO IS LOCATED. THE WATER ALSO DRIPS FROM THE FRONT LIGHT CEILING FIXTURE, WHICH MAY BE CREATING AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE WATER IS COMING IN FROM WHERE THE ROOF RACK TRACKS BEGIN AND END, AND RUNS DOWN TOWARD THE MIDDLE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED IMMEDIATELY. THE RUBBER STRIPPING THAT IS HOLDING THE ROOF RACK TRACKS ONTO THE VEHICLE ARE EITHER CORRODING, OR THE REINFORCEMENT AGENT/S ARE NOT WORKING.

MY DOOR LOCKS ONLY WORK OCCASIONALLY. THIS CAUSES A SAFETY CONCERN WHEN DRIVING THROUGH A BAD NEIGHBORHOOD AND A SECURITY CONCERN WHEN THE BACK HATCH WON'T LOCK. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE.

THE SKY SLIDER HAS A MAJOR LEAKING ISSUE AND VERY HIGH WIND SOUNDS WHEN DRIVING. THE SLIDER DOES NOT CURRENTLY OPERATE AND BETWEEN THIS YEAR AND LAST YEAR I'VE GOTTEN 3 DETAILS JUST TO CLEAN THE WATER DAMAGE AND IT JUST KEEPS HAPPENING. WHEN LOOKING UP REVIEWS SO MANY PEOPLE ARE/HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SLIDER. THIS IS NOT FAIR TO CUSTOMERS.

The contact owns a 2010 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated while her husband was driving approximately 60 MPH, the driver lowered the driver's side window when a smoke odor was present. The driver saw a flame burst from the door-mounted electrical panel with the door lock and window controls. The contact blew the flames out and then returned to the residence. The contact mentioned that her husband's clothes had a strong smoke odor due to the failure. No warning light was illuminated. A dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that before the electrical fire, during brake work on the vehicle, a mechanic had advised that a wire harness on the tow hitch had melted and had warned the contact not to use the tow hitch. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE REVERSING INTO THE DRIVEWAY, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, AND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE CONTACT DETERMINED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE ALTERNATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000.

WHILE DRIVING AFTER ABOUT 5 - 10 MINUTES, THE BATTERY LIGHT ON THE DASH LIT UP AND MADE A DINGING NOISE. I PARKED CAME BACK OUT TO LEAVE 3 HOURS LATER, AND THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. THERE WAS NO CLICKING, NO NOISED WHEN TURNING THE KEY TO START THE CAR. WE TRIED JUMPING THE CAR WITH 2 DIFFERENT JUMP BOXES AND 1 SET OF CABLES. NONE OF THOSE WORKED. I THEN HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR, CHANGED IT, AND I PICKED THE CAR UP FROM THE SERVICE CENTER, AGAIN 5 MINUTES INTO DRIVING THE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR DIED WHILE DRIVING MAYBE 10 MINUTES LATER ON THE THE THRUWAY. AGAIN, NOT ABLE TO JUMP THE BATTERY SO IT WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SERVICE CENTER. THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A FAULTY ALTERNATOR, AND CHANGED IT OUT. THE BATTERY LIGHT STILL CAME ON, AND DISCOVERED IT WAS THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE (TIPM) THAT WAS FAILING, AND BURNING THROUGH THE ALTERNATORS.

WHILE MY SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. MID DRIVE, WHICH WAS VERY UNSAFE. IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ROUNDING A CURVE. ATTEMPTED TO JUMP THE CAR WITH NO SUCCESS. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL GARAGE. THEY STATE IT AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT IT WILL BE PRETTY COSTLY. EXPLAINED IT TO ME AS THE MOTHERBOARD BASICALLY FOR THE CAR. AFTER READING UP SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. I WOULD THINK JEEP WOULD FIX THIS COMMON AND COSTLY ISSUE. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP.

"GATE" LIGHT COMES ON DASH AND LIGHTS INSIDE VEHICLE STAY ON, DRAINING BATTERY AND IF YOU LOCK YOUR VEHICLE THE ALARM WILL GO OFF. IT IS ALL CAUSED BY WATER GETTING INTO THE BACK WINDOW WHICH HAS BAD SEALS AND CAUSES SWITCH TO GO BAD. REPLACED YEAR AGO AND NOW HAVE TO REPLACE AGAIN. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE MANY JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS COMPLAIN. FIX THE PROBLEM OR I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP.

The contact’s wife owns a 2010 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, his wife noticed that the air bag warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the air bags needed to be replaced. The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed of the cost to replace the air bags. The contact was informed to call the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that he was not the original owner and the manufacturer denied repair. The failure mileage was approximately 152,000.

Airbag light goes on and off. Is not throwing a code on advanced scan tool. Also at times does not recognize the key has been removed from the ignition, and that appears to be a fault with the ignition key pin in the housing which Chrysler wants $1,000 or more to replace the ends tire steering column. What the hell do y'all guys even do because these problems exist all over the internet. Do y'all get kickbacks or make deals with the car companies because it seems not have to do anything with the safety of the equipment that is being sold.

2017 their was a recall on the 2010 jeep liberty oil pump and we were not notify at all, [XXX] the engine seized and the oil light came on and then the engine just stopped, It was full of oil and the oil was very clean, the mechanic look at it and said that the oil pump went out I am [XXX] the jeep stop in the middle of the road me my husband could have got kill cars almost hit us we have witnesses that can testify to this, we never receive a letter from your company at all about the recall. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES (CRITICAL ERROR - CYLINDER MISFIRE) AND MY CAR VIBRATES/SHAKES WHENEVER I ACCELERATE OR GO UP ANY INCLINE ON A HIGHWAY. I WENT TO SEE A CERTIFIED MECHANIC TODAY (IN MICHIGAN) AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE 3.7L ENGINE HAS A DESIGN FLAW THAT ALLOWS A LARGE AMOUNT OF CARBON BUILDUP IN THE CYLINDERS, WHICH LEADS TO MISFIRE ISSUES. IT WILL COST OVER $2,000 TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE (12 HOURS WORTH OF WORK - THEY HAVE TO TAKE APART THE CYLINDERS AND WHOLE IGNITION/INTAKE SYSTEM, CLEAN THE PARTS, AND REPLACE GASKETS). THE MECHANIC SAYS THAT MY CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING AND CAN BREAK DOWN AT ANY TIME. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 104,000 MILES. JEEP SHOULD NOT GET AWAY WITH SUCH A HORRIBLE DESIGN FLAW THAT WILL CAUSE MY CAR TO BREAK DOWN.

WHEN WE DRIVE TO GREATCLIP HAIR CUT STORE FROM DOLLARS STORE THRU FREEWAY, JEEP DIDN'T WARNING ANYTHING THAT WILLING TO BREAK DOWN, I STARTED SMELLED LITTLE OIL BURN AND WE PARKED JEEP BY GREATCLIP TO DROP WIFE THERE AND I TURNED ENGINE TO GOING AND IT'S SMELL STRONGER BURNS . I CHECKED IT OUT THAT VALVE COVER GOT CRACKED AND LITTLE HOLE. I ASKED WIFE TO START UP AND I SAW A LOT OF OIL COME OUT OF VALVE COVER HOLE . WE CALLED TOW TO COME PICK UP TO AVOID GET ENGINE SEIZURES AND I THOUGHT IT'S VALVE COVER THEN I WENT TO AUTOZONE TO BUY VALVE COVER AND GASKET AND WENT HOME TO WORK ON JEEP. I REMOVED VALVE COVER AND FOUND A ROCKER BROKE THE METAL OF ENGINE HEAD IN PASSAGES SIDE. I HEARD A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO WORK AT DEALERSHIP SHOP AND OTHER SHOP SAID ALL 3.7 LITER V6 ISN'T GOOD ENGINE FOR JEEP BECAUSE IT'S KEEP BLEW OR PROBLEMS. IT'S ONLY 170,000 MILES ON ENGINE. WE JUST BOUGHT 2 MONTHS AGO IT'S WAS GOOD ENGINE AND RUN WONDERFUL THEN IT'S BROKE DOWN FOR NO REASON. I HAD OLDER JEEP HAS NEVER PROBLEMS WITH ME UNTIL THIS ONE CAUSED ME PROBLEMS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. ABOUT A QUART OF GAS WILL "BURP" OUT DIRECTLY AFTER THE PUMP HAS KICKED OFF, SPILLING OVER THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND ONTO THE PERSON PUMPING GAS. THE ODD THING IS THAT IT ACTUALLY SHOOTS OUT UNDER SOME PRESSURE. THE PROBLEM IS NOT CAUSED BY OVER-FILLING. AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. THE SPILLAGE IS A MAJOR ISSUE BY ITSELF, BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY ISSUES IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS. WILL THIS PROBLEM CAUSE A FIRE HAZARD DURING AN ACCIDENT? AFTER GASSING UP REMOVED HOSE AND FUEL SHOT OUT OF FILLER PIPE,OVER THE SIDE OF VEHICLE AND UNTO THE GROUND. AT NEXT FUEL STOP SAME THING HAPPENED,DIFFERENT SERVICE STATION. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN EARLY 2013 FOR MY DAUGHTER. EVER SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED WE HAVE NOTED THE FOLLOWING: WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK WITH THE GAS NOZZLE SET TO AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AS SOON AS THE TANK IS FULL THERE IS ALWAYS A FAIRLY LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS THAT SPLASHES BACK AND OUT ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS OCCURS JUST AS THE TANK IS COMPLETELY FILL UP AND THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF. IT IS ENOUGH GAS THAT IT CAN BE SEEN ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON THE GROUND. THIS OBVIOUSLY PRESENTS A POTENTIAL HAZARD FOR FIRE AND IS VERY UNSETTLING. I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE IN MANY JEEP MODELS (INCLUDING THE 2010 LIBERTY'S, BUT ALSO OTHER JEEP MODELS) DATING BACK TO AT LEAST THE MID-2000'S AND THAT THERE IS A RECALL AND COVERAGE FOR THIS TO BE REPAIRED (USUALLY INVOLVING A NEW GAS TANK) FOR MANY JEEP MODELS, BUT MY PARTICULAR MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL PER CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE. *TR

THE FIRST TIME MY SKYSLIDER MALFUNCTIONED WAS WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY AT 65MPH. INSTEAD OF OPENING STRAIGHT IT WENT SIDEWAYS AND WAS STRUGGLING AGAINST ITSELF- THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I ENDED UP HAVING TO STOP ALONG THE SHOULDER BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. ONCE I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT INTO THE CLOSED POSITION AGAIN IT WOULDN'T STAY CLOSED ON IT'S OWN WITHOUT WANTING TO FLIP UP AND CAUSE A LOT OF NOISE AND POTENTIALLY MORE DAMAGE. I HAD TO HOLD THE ROOF CLOSE THE REMAINING 20 MINUTES HOME. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO PARTS TO FIX IT BUT THEY COULD PERMANENTLY CLOSE IT FOR ME. THEY COULDN'T GUARANTEE IT WOULD BE WATER TIGHT BUT THIS WAS THE BEST THEY COULD OFFER. I ACCEPTED THEN APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER AS SOON AS I STARTED THE CAR I STARTED TO HEAR A LOUD NOISE THAT I COULDN'T PLACE BECAUSE IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM EVERYWHERE. MY 6 YEAR OLD POINTED OUT THAT THE ROOF WAS MOVING AND I IMMEDIATELY HIT THE CLOSE BUTTON AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE ROOF TO STOP STRAINING AGAINST THE "PERMANENT SEAL" BUT IT WAS TOO LATE AND A FEW PIECES RAINED DOWN ON ME. BRAKES WERE MAKING A NOISE THAT SUBSIDED WHEN BRAKES APPLIED. MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT REAR PADS ARE WORN TO INDICATORS AND PADS ARE FROZEN IN SLIDES. ROTORS ARE AT MINIMUM SPEC. NOW MY FRONT BRAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN REPLACED, THEY ARE ORIGINAL FACTORY INSTALLED. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE REAR BRAKES WEARING OUT BEFORE THE FRONT BRAKES. I BEEN TOLD BY A SPEED SHOP THE BRAKES ARE TOO SMALL IN THE REAR FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. THE ESP SYSTEM PUTS TOO MUCH PRESSURE TO THE REARS TO KEEP THE FRONT FROM NOSE DIVING. THEN THE DEALER CHANGED THE WINDSHIELD THAT IS LOCATED ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT GOING OUT BUT WORKING WHEN I SHIMMY THE CORD OF CONDUCTOR. BUT LIKE IT DID PREVIOUSLY IT'S NOW NOT JUST THE PASSENGER LIGHT AS BOTH LIGHTS ARE AGAIN NOT WORKING. EVENTUALLY, THE ISSUE GOT WORSE AND THE LIGHTS HAVE NOW SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ON HIGHWAYS, LOCAL ROADS, ECT. AND HAS BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE. JEEP STILL CLAIMS TO NEVER HAVE SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS HOWEVER MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS EXISTS ONLINE FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, A LOCAL GARAGE TOLD ME ABOUT THE TIPM ISSUES AND EVEN UPON SUGGESTING THE REPLACEMENT OF THIS PART, JEEP INSISTED THIS COULDN'T BE THE ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING 50 MPH ON A PAVED HIGHWAY. THE AIR PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. A FEW SECONDS LATER THERE WAS A RUMBLE NOISE. I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED AT THE TIRES. ONE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. I HAD THOUGHT I RAN OVER SOMETHING VERY LARGE CAUSING AN INSTANT FLAT. AFTER REMOVING THE TIRE, WE NOTED THAT THE TIRE WAS STILL GOOD. THE NUT HOLDING THE VALVE STEM/PRESSURE SENSOR IN HAD BROKEN. THE VALVE STEM/PRESSURE SENSOR COMPONENT WAS FOUND INSIDE THE TIRE. THE RESULT WAS A VERY LARGE GAP WHERE THE VALVE STEM WAS, ALLOWING THE TIRE TO INSTANTLY DEFLATE. WHEN CHECKING THE OTHER VALVE STEMS, ONE OF THE OTHER NUTS HOLDING THE VALVE STEMS IN WAS ALSO BROKEN. THE JEEP IS PARKED UNTIL WE CAN REMOVE ALL OF THE VALVE STEMS AND REPLACE THEM. WE WILL NOT DRIVE IT AS IT IS. WE WILL BE REPLACING THE VALVE STEM/PRESSURE SENSOR COMPONENT WITH THE OLD FASHION STYLE VALVE STEMS. 2010 JEEP LIBERTY SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT ON FIRE AND EXPLODED ON FRIDAY APRIL 15, 2016. MY STEPDAD AND I WERE OUT AND WE STOPPED AND PICKED UP A PIZZA ON THE WAY HOME AND EVERYTHING WAS JUST FINE THE WHOLE DRIVE HOME, NO SMELL, NO DRIVING ISSUES, NO SMOKE, NO OVERHEATING DINGS, NO FUNKY SOUNDS. WE PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY TO PARK AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, MY STEPDAD GOT OUT FIRST, AND WHEN I OPENED MY DOOR I SAID 'OOH IT SMELLS LIKE FALL!' (I THOUGHT THE NEIGHBORS WERE HAVING A BONFIRE OR SOMETHING.) THEN I SAW IT AND TOLD HIM 'THE CAR IS SMOKING!' AND I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND GOT AWAY FROM IT. HE TRIED TO OPEN THE HOOD THINKING IT WAS A RADIATOR OR SOMETHING BUT IT WAS SO HOT IT BURNED HIS FINGERS AND THEN HE LIFTED IT A BIT WITH A SCREWDRIVER AS WE WENT TO GET THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WE SAW THE FIRE START SHOOTING OUT OF THE SIDES. IT WAS SO HOT AND SO FAST. I SCREAMED AT HIM TO GET HIM AWAY FROM IT BECAUSE I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO EXPLODE, AND AS SOON AS HE WAS A BIT AWAY FROM IT, THE HOOD DID EXPLODE UP AND THEN IT STARTED REALLY SHOOTING FLAMES OUT AND AND THAT'S WHEN I CALLED 911. THERE WERE SEVERAL MORE EXPLOSIONS WHILE WE WAITED ON THE FIREFIGHTERS. IT WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN 5 MINUTES. THERE IS NOTHING LEFT BUT A SHELL, AND IT WAS ONE LAYER FROM BURNING OUR HOUSE DOWN. IF WE WERE IN IT ANOTHER 60 SECONDS, WE'D HAVE TAKEN THAT FIRST EXPLOSION TO THE FACES. I HAD ORIGINAL HEATER CORE REPLACED DUE TO FOGGING OF WINDSHIELD, NO HEAT AND SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE DURING NOV 2014 WITH APPROXIMATELY 48000 MILES. HEATER CORE WENT AGAIN. STARTED TO HEAR RATTLE UNDER CAR IN MAY 2015. SET UP TO HAVE JEEP LOOKED OVER AT A DEALERSHIP. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER TEMP GUAGE WENT UP AND BACK DOWN THE HOT! ENGINE SEIZED. I HAD TO PAY OVER 4600 DOLLARS TO HAVE ENGINE REBUILT NOT REPLACED AS WELL AS HEATER CONTROL AND HEATER CORE REPLACED. CHRYSLER IS DENYING THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. TIPMS IS BAD. WHILE GOING DOWN HIGHWAY THE HORN STARTED BLOWING NON STOP THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND FLUID BEGAN TO GO EXTREMELY FAST, THE CAR STALLED OUT WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT OFF BUT HORN WINDSHIELD ETC CONTINUE TO GO AFTER CAR WAS OFF AND KEYS OUT. OVER 2 WEEKS AGO, I WAS COMING HOME WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD, AND AS WE CAME OFF THE HIGHWAY, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, THEN A BUNCH OF OTHER RANDOM LIGHTS ON THE DASH POPPED ON AND BEEPED AT ME. I HEARD THE CAR DIE RIGHT AS I COASTED INTO A GAS STATION. TRIED TO JUMP WITH 3 DIFFERENT CABLES AND IT WOULDN'T JUMP. NEXT DAY, REPLACED THE BATTERY AND IT STARTED UP FINE. DROVE TO WORK (ABOUT 5 MILES) AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AS I CAME ACROSS A HILL. MORE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT DIED AGAIN. HAD A MECHANIC REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR, AND THEN WE HAD TO GET A 2ND NEW BATTERY BECAUSE I KILLED THE FIRST ONE. LATER THAT DAY I DROVE IT AROUND, AND AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES OF DRIVING, AS I WAS COMING UP A HILL, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED AROUND AND CAME HOME. NEXT DAY I DROVE ABOUT 10 MINUTES ACROSS TOWN AND BACK AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, BUT IT MADE IT. I THOUGHT MAYBE THE BATTERY WAS JUST TRYING TO GET CHARGED UP, SO I DROVE ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND IT WAS FINE. WHEN I CAME OFF THE HIGHWAY, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON AND DINGING AT ME... AND THEN IT DIED AGAIN IN A PARKING LOT. WOULD JUMP AT FIRST BUT RPM METER WOULD JUMP UP AND DOWN AND THEN DIE. EVENTUALLY IT WOULDN'T JUMP AT ALL. REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AGAIN. JUMPED THE VEHICLE, LET IT SIT RUNNING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. REVVED THE ENGINE AND IT DIED. WON'T START. WON'T EVEN CLICK. CALLED JEEP AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD PCM. MECHANIC RENTED A SPECIAL TOOL TO TEST IT. THE PCM IS FINE, BUT THE TIPM MODULE IS BAD. NOW ALL MY OTHER WEIRD ISSUES ARE MAKING SENSE: RADIO DIALS SOMETIMES DON'T WORK, SOMETIMES IT STALLS IN THE COLD AT RANDOMLY. AND THE AIR FLAP ACTUATORS STOPPED WORKING, MEANING THAT NO AIR/HEAT BLOWS OUT THE TOP VENTS. AND THEN IT DYING ON ME RANDOMLY, WITH NO OTHER WARNINGS THAT THINGS WERE GOING WRONG.

THIS CAR HAS ELETRICAL ISSUES, WHILE DRIVING, THE HORN STARTED GOING OFF ON HIS OWN. I NEVER USE MY HORN, AND CAN COUNT ON 1 HAND HOW MANY TIMES I USED IT. THE REPAIR COST ME OVER $800. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR FOR THE REAR DOOR, I NEVER USE THE HATCH, AND I HAD TO REPLACE. MY CAR IS NOW CURRENTLY BEING REPAIR FOR ANOTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE PASSAGER DOOR IS CLOSED, HOWEVER THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON CAUSING MY INTERIOR LIGHT NOT TO STAY ON. THE PASSENGER DOOR IS COMPLETELY CLOSED- DUE TO THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE MY LIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF AND WILL KILL THE BATTERY. CHRYSLER WILL NOT COVER SO CHILD IS BEING LATCH WITH A REAR DRIVER SIDE SHOULDER BELT CONNECTED TO THE MIDDLE SEAT LATCH. 2. WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, CAUSES ABS, ESC AND 4WD TO STOP WORKING. THIS HAPPENS TYPICALLY WHILE DRIVING EITHER RESIDENTIAL OR HIGHWAY ROADS, RANDOM TIMES, TEMPERATURES AND SPEEDS. 3. DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR HAS STOPPED WORKING FOR THE FORTH TIME WHICH PREVENTS CHILD SAFETY LOCK FROM WORKING. THE DOOR CANNOT LOCK/UNLOCK OTHER THAN MANUALLY COMPRESSING THE LOCK FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR THEREFORE I HAVE TO CLIMB IN THE BACK SEAT TO UNLOCK THE DOOR OR RISK MY CHILD OPENING THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING. THE OTHER THREE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. 4. THE CLOCK LOSES A MINUTE TO TWO MINUTES A WEEK. 5. WHEN THE CAR IS IN OFF POSITION AND KEYS REMOVED FROM IGNITION, THE VEHICLE HAS ELECTRICAL SURGES THROUGH THE CONSOLE AFTER SITTING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. THE BATTERY HAS NOT BEEN RUN DOWN, I'M NOT SURE WHERE THE POWER IS COMING FROM. 6. AS I AM ACCELERATING FROM A STOP MY ENTIRE VEHICLE WILL COMPLETELY LOCK UP OUT OF NOWHERE AND WILL NO LONGER MOVE. DAUGHTER PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY TURNED LEFT ONTO STREET AND IMMEDIATELY HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND OBSERVED THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENTATION PANEL LIGHT UP. WIPERS CAME ON, DOORS LOCKED, ENGINE CUT OFF, ALARM WENT OFF, WIPER FLUID STARTED SPRAYING AND SMOKE STARTED POURING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. FORTUNATELY SHE WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AND GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. ELECTRICAL WIRING WAS STILL SMOKING 45 MINUTES AFTER THE POWER FINALLY DRAINED FROM THE BATTERY. TOW TRUCK REFUSED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL A MECHANIC CAME TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. LOCAL SHOP SAID ALL THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITRY WAS BURNED UP OR COMPROMISED, INCLUDING THE WIRING HARNESSES, GROUND WIRES, FUSED BOX, TIPM, ETC. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PRONOUNCED UNFIXABLE. INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NOT COVER SINCE FIRE DAMAGE WAS CONFINED TO ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS AND JEEP CHRYSLER SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE AND COMPENSATION WAS DENIED.

THIS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM SHOWED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE ENTIRE CAR SHUT DOWN GOING 40 MPH. LIGHTS FLASHED, WIPERS WENT OFF, HORN TOO, ALL FOR 10 SECONDS, WHILE CRUISING WITH NOW POWER/GAS. THEN THE CAR STARTED AGAIN ON ITS OWN, AND KEPT DRIVING. EVER SINCE, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS SCREWED UP. WIPERS WILL RUN, BUT DO NOT PUSH FLUID. CAR DOORS WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK WITH KEYFOB OR DRIVER'S SIDE CONTROLS. MUST MANUALLY LOCK/UNLOCK ALL DOORS. THE TAILGATE CANNOT UNLOCK, THEREFORE WILL NOT OPEN. FAN DOESN'T WORK, SO NO A/C OR HEAT. MECHANIC SAID THE TIPM MUST BE REPLACED, AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY JEEP/CHRYSLER WARRANTY. $1300 OUT OF POCKET! THIS IS RIDICULOUS, IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.

FIRST INCIDENT WAS IN NOVEMBER TO WHERE MY HEADLIGHTS QUIT WORKING. I SWITCHED OUT THE DUAL SWITCH BUT THAT DID NOT HELP AND THEN TRIED CLEANING AND SWITCHING THE RELAYS AROUND IN THE TIPM AND THAT HELPED SOMEWHAT. NOW I HAVE A WHOLE SET OF PROBLEMS. MY WIPERS WILL NOT SHUT OFF AND HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF UNLESS I TURN CAR OFF, AND MY BLINKERS ARE NOT WORKING AT ALL. I HAD TO PULL THE FUSE FOR THE WIPERS BUT CANNOT FIND THE FUSE FOR THE BLINKERS BECAUSE IT IS PART OF THE TIPM AS WELL AS THE HEADLIGHTS. I AM WORRIED THAT WITH THESE LITTLE ISSUES COMING UP THAT EVENTUALLY BIGGER ONES WILL HAPPEN IF THE TIPM IS THE PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS, WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL. DRIVING WITH MY WIFE ON I-95 NORTH IN CONNECTICUT EARLY SATURDAY MORNING, OUR RIGHT REAR TIRE INSTANTLY LOST AIR PRESSURE. I SAW THE LOW AIR WARNING LIGHT GO ON FIRST, THEN IMMEDIATELY FELT THE VEHICLE WOBBLE TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD BARELY CONTROL IT. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET IT TO THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER WHERE I CHANGED THE TIRE. I NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE VALVE WAS MISSING FROM THE RIM. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY NAILS OR OTHER PENETRATIONS OF THE TIRE ITSELF. HAD IT BEEN ONE OF THE FRONT TIRES, I MIGHT HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. WHEN WE GOT TO A TIRE STORE TO HAVE THE BAD TIRE CHECKED OUT, THE MECHANIC & THE OWNER SAID WE HAD DEFECTIVE AIR PRESSURE SENSOR VALVES AND THAT WE ESSENTIALLY EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT. THE MECHANIC SHOWED US THE OTHER VALVES AND THEY WERE ALL CRACKED AS WELL. WE HAD THEM ALL REPLACED AND HAD TO BUY A NEW TIRE AS WELL. THE CRACKS IN THE SENSOR VALVES WERE OBVIOUS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY MATTER THAT COULD CAUSE FATALITIES IF THEY HAVE NOT OCCURED ALREADY.

IT WAS LIGHT TO MEDIUM RAIN WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHERE TRAFFIC TOOK OFF AND HAD TO STOP SOON AFTER. AS SOON AS I HIT MY BRAKES THE ABS KICKED IN INCREASING THE STOPPING DISTANCE OF MY JEEP CAUSING ME TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. AT THE SAME TIME THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL BRAKE LIGHT AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME AND REMAINED LIT. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND WAS TOLD THIS WASN'T A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND TO BRING IT ON MONDAY (I CALLED FRIDAY MORNING). THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER CORRECTED THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE BRAKE SWITCH AND THE TAIL LIGHT LAMP SWITCH. AS I WAS LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP, LESS THAN A MILE AWAY, ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. THEY CORRECTED IT AGAIN, SO I PICKED IT UP AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN TWO DAYS LATER. IN THE MEAN TIME WHENEVER IT IS A MEDIUM RAIN OR ABOVE OR IT HAS BEEN RAINING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME THE ABS BRAKES PREMATURELY ACTIVATE. THE JEEP WAS INSPECTED BY CHRYSLER ENGINEERS WHO STATE IT DOES NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, AND WILL NOT FIX THE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. *TT

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE WHEN SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT WARNING, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHICH CONCLUDED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 11,081. UPDATED 3/14/11 *CN THE DEALER BELIEVED THE PROBLEM WAS MECHANICAL. HOWEVER, A DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED NO ERROR CODES. UPDATED 04/27/11
