TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A STOP LIGHT, ANOTHER VEHICLE RUN THE RED LIGHT AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT STATED MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED AS SHE SUSTAINED BACK, ARM AND NECK INJURIES AS WELL AS THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BACK, NECK AND SHOULDER INJURIES. THE CONTACT MENTION THAT DUE TO THE IMPACT THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT BUCKLE FRACTURED. THE OTHER DRIVER DID NOT SUSTAIN INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INSURANCE MECHANIC BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BUT WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE ACCIDENT DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. When travelling at high speeds, the engine repeatedly stalls, the engine light comes on the engine shuts down posing a major safety risk especially when on the highway at 65-70 mile hour speeds. There is a recall on similar models, but my vehicle's vin number is not showing. I am concerned that this vehicle has the same issue, but Chrysler is refusing to check it. The recall campaign number is N52 for a certain group of vehicles of the same model and the problem described is exactly what I am having with my vehicle. Essentially, my vehicle is posing a serious safety hazard and Chrysler is not willing to address it. I would appreciate any help with this matter. I have had two different mechanics look at it before I saw the recall and unable to detect the problem. Now that I have read the information on the recall, I want to have Chrysler review it for the recall. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

I reached out to the dealer about another issue with my radio by phone they helped with that situation later that day I received a text telling me about vehicle recalls. I called and made an appointment. They repaired part of the issue but had to order parts for the rest. I took my vehicle back the only light in the dash that stays on is the tire pressure light. When my son and I went to pick it back up we noticed the light on when I asked about it I was told the tech would talk to me but was gone for the day. He Jacob reached out the next day and told me it would need further inspection. I finally got in touch with a manager Mark he said the part broke when they attempted repair and this was due to the age of the car. I told him it was no issues before they touched it and I would like it fixed he told me to bring it in and they would inspect free of charge next thing I know he called and told me I was responsible for repairs. I'm not happy and don't/didn't know what to do therefore I'm reaching out here.

Drivers side head restraint deployed when sitting parked in car striking my wife in head car was not running. Contacted dealer states no idea when part can come contacted jeep told to look for part on internet fix myself there is a safety recall on this issue and I am unable to get this resolved thru jeep and dealer

When I pull up somewhere and apply brakes it will start jerking and act like it wants to go but if I put the Jeep in park or neutral it stops. It's like the whole jeep will lunge forward when I am sitting there with my foot on the brake and it just feels like it's going to take off or die. it can't make up its mind.

At long rides in hot weather traveling over 65 miles a hour car slows down to a sto was in fast lane at time had to put hazards on to make to shoulder a message on dashboard lights up red circle with ! Inside of circle looked on manual its marked as transmission overheat when vehicle cools down can start driving again I've brought to dealer in NJ and fla for problem mechanics state can't duplicate message so did unwanted repairs when today 10/30/2023 after complaining to Chrysler now they can dupicate message and states theres a problem with transmission this problem had been with me since I brought car in 2014 i looked online and have seen many complaints about the cvt transmission my car is at dealer now with price tag of 9000 to repair please help me get my repairs

TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS & VEHICLE SHUTS DOWN WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. FORCED TO PULL OFF THE ROADSIDE TO WAIT UNTIL IT COOLS DOWN. ITS HAPPENED TO ME ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE THERE WAS BARELY ANY SHOULDER ALONG THE HIGHWAY, I THOUGHT MY GRANDDAUGHTER & I WERE GOING TO BE KILLED. IVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP MUTLIPLE TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM SINCE PURCHASING IT FROM DEALERSHIP AND HAVE HAD NO RESOLVE. ON ONE OCCASION THE JEEP HAD BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A MONTH NOW AND ALL THEY KEPT TELLING ME IS THAT THEY CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. CURRENT SITUATION - LAST MONTH (MARCH) I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THE JEEP OVER 20 MPH. I'VE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES REGARDING THIS AND I CAN'T GET ANYONE TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER IF THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THE TRANSMISSION. I AM ANGRY AT THIS POINT. I WAS DRIVING APPROX 45 MPH WHEN I HEARD A POPPING NOISE FOLLOWED BY GRINDING NOISE WHILE IN 5TH GEAR. TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT LOOKED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHO VERIFIED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT. IT WAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR, I ASKED TO TAKE PICTURES SO THAT I COULD TALK TO JEEP ABOUT HAVING A TRANSMISSION FAIL AT 103K MILES. WHILE TAKING PICTURES AND LOOKING AT THE DAMAGED TRANSMISSION, THE MECHANIC SAID " WAIT A MINUTE. WHAT YEAR IS YOUR JEEP?" I TOLD HIM IT WAS A 2014. HE SAID, "LOOK AT THIS STICKER. IT MEANS THAT THIS TRANSMISSION WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2016. SO, YOU ARE ACTUALLY ON YOUR 3RD TRANSMISSION." I WAS ABLE TO TRACK THE TRANSMISSION BY THE PART NUMBER AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS INSTALLED IN JULY 2016. THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 51,477 MILES. THE ONE THAT JUST CAME OUT FAILED AT 52, 075 MILES.

The 2014 Jeep Patriot includes an Active Head Restraint (AHR) that deploys during a rear end collision. On 5/22/2025 The driver's side AHR deployed in my 2014 Jeep Patriot while the vehicle was moving at approximately 5 miles per hour in a parking lot, when there was no collision. The malfunction caused the AHR to move forward and hit the driver in the head (which did result in a headache and sore neck for the driver). The AHR on the front passenger's side did not deploy, which indicates that this was a malfunction limited to the driver's side AHR. I have been advised by my local Jeep dealership that this is not a "covered" malfunction and will cost approximately $500 to replace the AHR, "assuming they can get the part in stock." I was further advised that the warranty for this part was extended, but if it didn't malfunction within the covered period, then the owner is responsible for any later malfunction because it was "not a recall."

Head rest Active Restraint System(ARS) deployed on my passenger side front seat for my 2014 Jeep Patriot while it was parked. Looking at the head rest, the bar that keeps the ARS in place and locked in place, broke out of the plastic housing that was holding the head rest in the correct place. When the plastic housing broke the ARS deployed when the car was in park. If this had occured while driving it could have caused significant injury or an accident if the driver side head rest would have deployed while driving.

While I was removing groceries from my car the passenger seat active headrest system deployed. When I looked inside I could see broken pieces of plastic and knew that this was unable to be reset. Thankfully I was not driving the vehicle but would be terrified that something like that could happen while the car was in use resulting in a collision. I am now worried and suspicious that this could also happen to the drivers headrest system

The head rest on the drivers seat and the passenger seat deployed while parked. There was a broken piece of plastic on the seat that looks like it broke off sometime during the day while the car was parked at work. They did not happen at the same time. The passenger seat happened about a year ago but no one usually sits in that seat.

On July 25, 2024 the front passenger headrest randomly deployed while the vehicle was parked. I was seated in that seat when it happened. Because I was leaning to the side I was not injured. Today, July 26, 2024, I brought the vehicle in to a Jeep service center to confirm that is what happened, it was confirmed that this is a problem.

On 5-19-23, while driving slowly in a residential neighborhood, (without any warning or prior incidence) my driver side headrest suddenly popped open hitting the back of my head. There is now an approximately three inch gap or opening at top of headrest. I was the sole occupant in the vehicle. I continued driving without incident. Additionally, I was wearing my seatbelt at the time. I plan to visit my dealership Monday to question why this occurred and to gather information about repairing the headrest (or closing it back up, if that is the solution).

DAUGHTER CALLED IN PANIC, JEEP WAS UNABLE TO ACCEPT FUEL WHILE PUMPING. I ADVISED HER TO TRY ANOTHER PUMP, STILL SAME PROBLEM. TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO GET 5 GALLONS OF FUEL IN JEEP FOR HER TO MAKE IT HOME. TOOK JEEP TO DEALERSHIP AND STATED THAT A SHUT OFF VALVE IN TANK HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND GAS TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ($1500 PARTS AND LABOR) AND DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM...WAIT WHAT, A COMMON PROBLEM, WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS? LESS THAN 50K MILES AND NEEDS A NEW TANK... DEALERSHIP SAID NOT A SAFETY ISSUE??? BEING STUCK ON I95 AT NIGHT NOT BEING ABLE TO GET GAS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE.

DURING A ROAD TRIP, I WENT TO GAS UP MY JEEP AND THE PUMP WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO PUT GAS IN THE CAR. I WAS 5 MONTHS PREGNANT STRANDED WITH NO GAS. I LATER WHEN TO SEVERAL OTHER GAS STATIONS SAME ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE CURLER NECK WHICH WAS $180, WHEN THEY INSTALLED IT, THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE AS WELL. I FINALLY TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY MENTIONED IT COULD BE THE FUEL TANK WHICH WAS $1200 OR THE EVAP SYSTEM WHICH IS $900 BUT THEY WEREN'T ENTIRELY SURE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS EITHER. I AM CURRENTLY USING A GAS CAN BUT THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE BECAUSE NOW IT WILL ONLY ALLOW ME TO PUT SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS EMPTY.

THE DASHBOARD STARTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE ALL THE WAY OVER TO THE STEERING COLUMN CAUGHT FIRE AND MELTED THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD.I PARKED MY CAR AROUND 9PM AND WENT BACK OUT AROUND 11:30PM TO GET SOMETHING OUT AND FOUND MY DASHBOARD COMPLETELY MELTED. I WAS TOLD BY THE FIRE COMPANY THAT BECAUSE THE WINDOWS WERE ALL CLOSED TIGHTLY THE FIRE SMOTHERED ITSELF. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE BODY SHOP AND THEY CALLED AND TOLD ME IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. MY CAR WAS TOTALED.

THE HORN STOPPED WORKING ON THIS CAR ABOUT FIVE MONTHS AGO. I LOOKED FOR A FUSE OR RELAY AND DISCOVERED ON THE WEB THAT THIS WAS A COMMON CHRYSLER PROBLEM ACROSS ALL PRODUCTS. I REPLACED THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH APPEARED TO BE IDENTIFIED AS MOST PROBABLE PROBLEM ON THE WEB; NOT SO. TWO MONTHS AGO I WENT TO THE DEALER AND SAID FOR $150 THEY WOULD IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THE HORN ITSELF WORKED, WHICH I TESTED. I TOOK THE STEERING WHEEL APART ONCE AGAIN AND TRACED THE TWO OPERATIONAL HORN WIRES BACK TO THE THE STEERING WHEEL MOUNTED CRUISE CONTROL MODULE. FOR GRINS I WENT TO THE LOCAL SERVICE YARD AND OBTAINED SAID MODULE. REPLACED THE MODULE AND NOW THE HORN WORKS. FIRST, WHY WOULD THE HORN CIRCUIT BE SO CONVOLUTED SINCE A RELAY AND FUSE WAS THE NORM SINCE THE 1940'S. SECOND, FOR SAFETY'S SAKE, THE COMMON ITEMS NEEDED TO BE WORKING IN A CAR ARE HORN, LIGHTS, BRAKES; THESE ARE COMMON MINIMUM INSPECTION ITEMS. CHRYSLER SHOULD MAKE GOOD AND REPAIR/ REPLACE CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THIS MAJOR FAILURE COULD HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES BECAUSE THE MINDSET OF MOST BACKYARD MECHANICS IS THAT THEY CAN FIX IT AND MANY HAVE CONCEDED FAILURE AND HAVE PUT A HORN BUTTON ON THE DASH AND WIRED TO A BETTER HORN , FUSE AND RELAY. CHECK THE WEB AND YOU CAN SEE THE MULTITUDE OF TRAFFIC ON THE CHRYSLER HORN PROBLEMS. I TRIED TO GET WIRING DIAGRAMS FOR THIS CAR WHICH COST $100 BUT I STOPPED WHEN I FOUND THAT THEY WERE NOT COMPLETE. I BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER LIKE PROBABLY ALL MANUFACTURERS HAVE LET THE ELECTRONICS TAKE OVER COMMON SENSE.

OVER PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS, VEHICLE HAD ISSUES OF START/NO START. BEING FRUSTRATED, I TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER ON 7/3/17. DEALER REPLACED THE TIPM SAME DAY. ON JULY 4TH VEHICLE STILL EXPERIENCE START/NO START. RETURNED THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ON 7/6/17 AND I AM AWAITING RESULTS FROM DEALER REGARDING THE ISSUE. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER CHRYSLER IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TIPM AND EXCESSIVE HEAT ON ENGINE SEEMS TO PLAY A MAJOR FACTOR IN THE FAILURE OF THE TIPM.

YESTERDAY AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND DRIVING WAS VERY JERKY. TODAY ON THE FREEWAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, FOLLOWED BY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WAS FLASHING AGAIN. LUCKILY, SAFE MODE DIDN'T KICK ON UNTIL AFTER EXITING THE HIGHWAY AS I WAS ONLY ABLE TO ACCELLERATE TO 20 MPH THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. THE CAR DOES NOT SEEM TO BE SHIFTING HARD WHEN TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY . ALSO, WHEN STARTING OUT FROM A STOP, IT'S CHUGGING AND JERKING. IT IS THROWING ERROR CODES $07E8 AND $07E9.

EVER SINCE BUYING MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN FAULTY. IF I DRIVE OVER A BUMPY ROAD AND SLOWLY PRESS ON MY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN IT BECOMES VERY FAULTY AND THE PEDAL FEELS AS IF I AM BREAKING THROUGH THE GROUND. I HAVE TO QUICKLY RELEASE, WAIT TILL I AM ON FLAT GROUND AND PRESS ON THE BRAKES AGAIN TO HAVE A BETTER GRIP ON BRAKING. THIS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I HAD TO BRAKE ABRUPTLY. THE CAR OVERALL IS FINE, IT'S JUST THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN ACTING UP SINCE THE BEGINNING. AND IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M ON THE FREEWAY OR IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, I ALWAYS NEED TO BE AWARE OF THIS BECAUSE IT ALWAYS HAPPENS. THE JEEP HAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION BUT I DON'T THINK THAT SHOULD MATTER BECAUSE MY ROOMMATE HAS THE SAME EXACT CAR BUT AN AUTOMATIC AND SHE HAS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE WITH HER CAR AS WELL. ALREADY ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT 70 MPH, I NOTICED THAT IT WAS HARDER TO ACCELERATE. I WAS PUSHING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL AND MY JEEP WAS NOT PICKING UP ANY SPEED. THE TACHOMETER WAS PUSHING THE LINE IN READ BETWEEN 7 & 8 AS I WOULD TRY TO ACCELERATE. COUPLE DAYS LATER DRIVING IN TOWN, IT DID IT AGAIN ONLY IT TOOK AWHILE TO ACCELERATE AND GET TO 30-40 MPH. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO AUTO-ZONE TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. THEY TOLD ME TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY AND HAVE IT SIT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS TO SEE IF THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME OFF. WEEK LATER I'M STILL STUCK WITHOUT MY VEHICLE. REPORTED IT TO MOPAR AND THEY ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT FIXED. MY JEEP ONLY HAS UNDER 90K MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING AROUND PARKING LOT VEHICLE STARTED TO RUN EXTREMELY ROUGH ALMOST TO THE POINT OF STALLING. BECAME VERY HARD TO DRIVE INCLUDING LOOSING STEARING AND BRAKE FUNCTION CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOOSE CONTROL AND COMING TO A STOP INTO A BUSH. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ON THE DASH AT THE TIME, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ELECTRIC SYMBOL. DEALER STATED THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WAS A COMMON REPAIR THEY HAD SEEN MANY TIMES. WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY WHICH LEFT ME WITH A $1000 REPAIR BILL. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. CALLED UP JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE COMPLETELY UNWILLING TO COVER ANY COSTS OF THE REPAIR OR ADMIT THERE WAS ANY ISSUE. I ACCELERATED UP TO 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET AND THEN COASTED UP TO TRAFFIC AND WAS SLOWING DOWN, AT THE LIGHT AND MY CAR ALL THE SUDDEN TURNED ON 3 LIGHTS THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TROTTLE POSITION LIGHT. I STOPPED MY CAR AT THE LIGHT AND ONCE I DID THE CAR JERKED FORWARD SENDING ME INTO THE INTERSECTION. LUCKY NO ONE WAS COMING BUT I ENDED UP HAVING TO RUN THE RED LIGHT BECAUSE MY CAR JERK FORWARD AGAIN AND ONCE I GAVE IT GAS IT ONLY GOT WORSE. I PULLED OFF INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED MY CAR ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES TO RESET THE COMPUTER. IT FINALLY DID AFTER TURNING IT ON AND OFF FIVE TIMES. ALL THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. SO I TRIED TO DRIVE IT TO WORK AND ONCE I DROVE DOWN THE CITY ROAD A LITTLE WAYS (MAYBE A MILE). THE CAR JERKED AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT UP AND THEN DOWNSHIFTED AND MY ENGINE THEN REVED TO FIVE THOUSAND RPM. AND ALL THE LIGHTS TURNED BACK ON AND MY CAR JERK VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH. THE RPM'S STAYED AT THREE TO FOUR THOUSAND REVING MY ENGINE NEEDLESSLY. I FINALLY PULLED OFF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A SHOP. THE JEEP CERTIFIED MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE HEARD OF A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE

ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN TO GO OFF. RPMS WERE RUNNING HIGHER THAN NORMAL. AFTER THE SENSOR TRIGGERED TWICE, NO PROBLEMS OTHER THAN RMPS RUNNING HIGH. 5 DAYS AFTER THE INITIAL WARNING LIGHT, UPON STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND RESUMING ACCELERATION, CHECK ENGINE CAME ON, THEN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, THEN TRACTION CONTROL. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE CAR HAD TO DECELERATE OR STOP AND THE RPMS DROPPED BELOW 1. AT ONE POINT, IT STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER, STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. IF YOU WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH CONTINUOUS GAS THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSTIC REPAIR IS THE THROTTLE BODY HOUSING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

WOW, JUST WOW!! ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THE 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. MINE IS AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP GETTING A NEW THROTTLE BODY KIT. (600$$)....I AM NOT SURE IF I EVER WANT TO DRIVE IT AGAIN AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. While the contact’s daughter was driving at approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and decelerated unintendedly. During the failure, the power steering, brake assist, and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The driver was able to coast to the side of the road, where the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was towed and after approximately 30 - 40 minutes, the vehicle was restarted. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V115000 (Electrical System); online, which indicated a similar failure and that the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM-7) might fail, causing the vehicle to stall without warning. The make and model year was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.

No warning lights have appeared; after an oil change, the technician said there is some oil seepage; at start up, the vehicle smells like gas and clicks and start up. The fumes are overwhelming at times. Off and on driving the vehicle clicks 2-4 times then stops. No warning lights are illuminating. The ECT had a failure at 67676 mileage the vehicle smelled like gas and would not accelerate, The Throttle body was replaced. No recall notice for this failure is listed for this vehicle.

I'VE HAD 2 NEW 2014 JEEP PATRIOTS, AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL HAS FAILED ON BOTH WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT 65MPH, LEAVING CARS WITH NO ENGINE POWER OR POWER STEERING. SOMEBODY WILL DIE ONE DAY IN THIS CAR. I JUNKED THE FIRST ONE AFTER REPAIRING THE ETC, AND NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE 2ND ONE. PLEASE GOOGLE THE SUBJECT AND SEE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS W/SAME ISSUE. JEEP REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP LEVEL, AND WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TWICE ON 2 NEW 015 PATRIOTS PURCHASED FROM THE SAME DEALER IN MARIETTA, GA. THE MUFFLER MELTED THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. IT ALMOST CAUGHT FIRE AFTER 2 HOURS ON THE ROAD WITH NO INDICATION. WE MANAGED TO PUSH MUFFLER DOWN AND IT STOPPED MELTING THE PLASTIC. ALSO AT THAT TIME I NOTICED THAT MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT DID LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE 2015 PATRIOTS BEING SOLD, AND MATCHED THE 2015 PATRIOT OWNER'S INFORMATION. APPARENTLY CHRYSLER/JEEP STARTED MANUFACTURING 2015 PATRIOTS, BUT TITLING THEM AND SELLING THEM AS 2014 PATRIOTS, LONG BEFORE THE PUBLISHED MODEL YEAR CHANGEOVER DATE OF THE FIRST WEEK OF AUGUAT, 2014. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE AFFECTED LUG NUTS BUT THEY ARE REPLACING THEM WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE LUG NUTS USED AT THE FACTORY. 2 TIMES NOW AFTER TIRE ROTATION THIS HAS OCCURRED WHERE SEVERAL OF THESE CAPS HAVE COME FLYING OFF OF THE VEHICLE. As my wife was heading to a doctor's appointment the electronic throttle body failed while she was on a busy highway during rush hour. The car had 51,524 miles on it. This is the second time that this part has failed. The first time was a little less than 40,000 miles. When this fails the vehicle loses power and becomes a rear-end collision hazard. I also own a 2016 Jeep Patriot and its throttle body failed at a little less than 40,000 miles.

SITTING AT A RED LIGHT, VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT. VEHICLE LOST POWER AND ENGINE FELT LIKE IT WOULD STALL. VEHICLE WOULD ONLY DRIVE AT VERY LOW SPEED TO GET TO SAFETY. AFTER RESTARTING, ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON, VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE BUT SOON FAILED AGAIN WITHIN A FEW MILES AND THE THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT MAY COME ON AS WELL. WAS TOO CONCERNED WITH GETTING TO SAFETY TO KNOW FOR SURE.

while driving multiple warning lights on the dashboard come on. at times the vehicle will stall and I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it will restart. at times the anti-theft system will wngage causing all interior components and dash lights to go out, i then have to pull over , disconnect the battery and pull the ignition fuse to reset the anti-theft system, after waiting approximately 15 minutes the vehicle will start and operate normally. while driving at times the vehicle will suddenly jerk very hard feeling like I hit a large speed bump, the warning lights on the dash will all come on briefly and the vehicle will resume driving normally. at times the vehicle stalls while idling. while driving with the accelerator pressed the fog lights will flash and the inerior fan will blow at a decreased speed, once the accelerator is released the fog lights glow normally and the interior fan will blow correctly until the vehicle slows below 18 mph at which time the interior fan will again decrease in functioning. this also affects the adapter and charging of my phone as it will not charge properly while plugged into the aux adapter. I believe there is some sort of electrical malfunction. I have replaced the vehicles ECM and crankshaft position sensor, and I am considering replacing the throttle position sensor and throttle pedal assembly. There are no active recalls listed for this vehicle at this time, although any one of these issues could potentially cause an accident with injuries especially on wet or icy road conditions, and given this vehicle is front wheel drive the temporary jolting from whatever is causing the vehicle issues could potentially cause a lose of control resulting in an accident. It should be noted that all of these issues began at approximately the same time period, and after reading through otgher complaints it would appear that there is some sort of significant electrical malfunction in these vehicles. Driving normal then suddenly power loss, jeep went into acceleration then loss of power, the ETC , traction control, and check engine lights came on, got a uo4o1 code, I was on the interstate with my son in the car. We were lucky to exit before horrible consequences. The electronic throttle control was bad.

Lightning bolt symbol, check engine light and traction control lights came on and vehicle went into limp mode while taking my 3 yr old to pre school. Scans say vacuum leak/throttle body. This is a recurrent problem with these cars and has had recalls on certain ones. Almost didnt make it where i was going. . . Needs to be addresses on this model too. My car only has 76,721 miles.

My jeep would suddenly jerk forward almost rear ending people at red lights without any warning. While traveling at approximately 45 mph the engine light came on my jeep. As I went to pull over the engine started bucking/jerking then the engine light flashed. I was barely able to pull over on the side of the road before the car completely stalled. I had to have towed to a dealership as it was no longer drivable. I was almost on the highway. The dealership said I had total engine failure and should buy a new car. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I ASSOCIATE THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V552000 (ENGINE) That has been open since of 11/2013. But my vehicles VIN “wasn’t included”. I was driving with my four small kids in my jeep.

TAKATA RECALL THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAPPENED 3 MONTHS APART. TODAY I WAS GOING 45 MPH DRIVING FOR 3 MINUTES AND MY TRACK LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST PRESSURE IN THE ACCELERATION AND COULD ONLY MOVE 20 MPH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I MUST PUT MY CAR IN PARK, SHUT THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF, THEN RESTART, SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE DAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE ON CITY STREET, HIGHWAYS, WHILE TURNING AND WHILE STOPPED, IT HAS BECOME UNSAFE AND UNRELIABLE TO DRIVE. I AM STILL UNAWARE OF WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL COMPONENTS ON THE VEHICLE THAT I THINK COULD HAVE BEEN LINKED: BATTERY, THROTTLE BODY, SPARK PLUGS, CAM SENSORS, RUNNER VALVE, AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. NONE OF THESE REPLACEMENTS HAS FIXED THIS ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WITH JEEP (N52) AND WHEN I CALLED TO TELL THEM MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THIS ISSUE THEY JUST TOLD ME THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE, AND THEY COULD NOT AUTHORIZE A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. A LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR STARTS SLOWING DOWN SO YOU MUST PULL OVER UNTIL THE LIGHT GOES OUT, BUT IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND AGAIN. My driver and passenger headrest deployed for no reason. They deployed at separate times. It is a safety concern because I am not able to position my neck properly when driving. Due to the head rest being deployed my head is positioned forward making it difficult to see my surroudings. Had I not been parked when my driver side headrest deployed, I stronly believe that it could have caused an accident. I am not able to fix this issue on my own due to the actual pieces that would allow you to reset the head rest are broken.

The active head restraint on the passenger side spontaneously deployed while parked. There was no impact leading up to this event. The head restraint appears to have failed due to a faulty plastic clip that split in half. The head restraint is at the height of my passenger's head and, if they had been seated in the chair, the deployed headrest would have hit them at the base of the skull or delivered a blow to the left or right cheekbone and eye. I took the vehicle to my nearest Jeep dealership (Rhythm Jeep in Madison, TN) and they confirmed that the clip holding the release pin in place spontaneously failed. They documented the damage and ordered a new headrest which has not yet been fulfilled (a 9-month wait so far). There were no warning signals or any other indication that the head restraint would fail. Our concern is that the driver's side head restraint will also fail and cause the driver to crash the vehicle or suffer head and neck injury.

I PURCHASED THIS 2014 PATRIOT FOUR WEEKS AGO WITH, I HAVE NOT EVEN MADE A FIRST PAYMENT. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT MY JEEP LOST ALL POWER. The front turn signals fail continuously as the turn signal units leak and fill with water causing the bulbs to short out. I called one dealer in the past and was told they were not covered by my warranty due to my vehicle's age, it's a 2014. The cost to repair is expensive as you have to access the turn signal unit through the front wheel wells to change the bulbs. The bulbs are inexpensive but the labor is costly due to the labor required. I have had to replace bulbs once every 12-18 months due to this problem. Most recent failures are detailed below, once agin both turn signals have failed.

Vehicle occasionally makes a clicking sound in the dash by steering column. Only lasts few seconds. Happens when you either use key fob to unlock door (not even in vehicle yet) or when you start vehicle. Vehicle is usually not running when this happens. Also, several times my headlights came on for no reason the past few weeks draining the battery. Keys were hanging up in house when it happened!

The "gate" light will come on and off and so will the all the lights in the vehicle and it will do it off and on. I am not paying to fix it. I never had a problem with it before and I've had this Jeep for almost a year. I was in a hit and run in August and my Jeep didn't do this until I got it back about a week afterwards.

Head restraint on passenger side deployed while not car. There was no collision. The car was parked in my drive. Chrysler avoids responsibility. My car has under 64,000 miles. It could have hurt a passenger if I was traveling. There should have been a recall. There are class suits on the problem with Chrysler vehicles.

THE DRIVER SEAT HEADREST DEPLOYED WITHOUT WARNING OR CAUSE. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT, NO CAR OR OBJECT HIT THE CAR. WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR AND PUT IT IN REVERSE I NOTICED THE HEADREST HAD BEEN DEPLOYED. IT WAS POSSIBLE IT HAPPENED OVER NIGHT OR AS THE CAR WAS STATIONARY AND PUT IN REVERSE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM ONLINE. THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS AND THIS WILL APPARENTLY COST ME $800 OR MORE TO REPAIR, OR I CAN DRIVE AROUND WITH NO HEAD REST.

I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. 3 LIGHTS CAME ON: THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR (CHECK ENGINE), AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL. THE UNIVERSAL JOINT HOLDING THE SIDE MIRROR BROKE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE WITHIN ~1 MONTH OF EACH OTHER. THE SAME COMPONENT FAILED IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY IN BOTH INSTANCES. IN BOTH CASES, THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED AT THE END OF A WORK DAY (~5PM) AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE FOR THE ENTIRE WORK DAY. THE PROBLEM WAS NOTICED PRIOR TO ENTERING OR EVEN TOUCHING THE VEHICLE. THE MIRROR WAS LOOSE AND POINTING MORE TOWARD THE GROUND THAN NORMAL. UPON ATTEMPTING TO ADJUST THE MIRROR INTO THE CORRECT POSITION, IT WAS FOUND TO BE LOOSE AND DETACHED. THE BROKEN PIECE IS MADE OF PLASTIC. IT HAS A HEMISPHERE WITH 3 PRONGS STICKING OUT OF IT. THE 3 PRONGS HAVE GROOVES IN THEM THAT ENGAGE WITH TABS ON A SPACIAL WASHER. THE WASHER PUSHES ON A SPRING. ONE OF THE PRONGS IS BROKEN AT THE TOP OF THE GROOVE WHICH IS ENGAGED WITH THE WASHER. IT APPEARS THAT THE PLASTIC IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE SPRING LOAD, BUT THERE MAY ALSO BE CONTRIBUTING FACTORS DUE TO STRESS CONCENTRATIONS IN THE GROOVE OR FROM THE SHARP EDGES OF THE WASHER. i have sent in my jeep patriot in few years ago for recall that has to do with airbags issue. jeep patriot just reached 10 year old and now i am getting air bag light every time i turn my steering wheel while parked and while driving it keeps dining every min or less. i was told it may be clock spring in steering wheel and i believe i should not have to replace it being 165xxx miles and just hit 10 year mark. i have been replacing many other parts knowing its part of wear and tear but having to replace clock spring on not so old cars is very concerning for our safety when it comes to jeep my jeep is 2014 and has been well taken care of. i am upset finding there are recalls for wrangler for clock spring but none for patriot. please get back with me with possible fix for this. i know jeep is one of best vehicles to have and i am starting to be worried if this going to be a common problems for jeep.

I believe the roll over safety valve inside the gas tank is faulty, and have noticed many others having the same issue in forums. The vehicle will not accept fuel, and acts as if it is full. Sometimes if you hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber mallet, the valve will unstick and accept fuel again for a short while.

I HAVE A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT WITH ABOUT 33,474 MILES WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. I WAS DRIVING GOING HOME IN A BUSY STREET IN LOS ANGELES WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT (MIL) AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) (SEE PHOTOS) LIGHT SHOWED UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND I STOPPED BECAUSE THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED RED. I HAD 3 PASSENGERS WITH ME AND THEY WERE TRYING TO GOOGLE WHAT THE DASHBOARD LIGHT MEANS. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I STARTED TO DRIVE BUT THE ENGINE WAS STALLING, AS IF IT DOESN'T WANT TO DRIVE, NO POWER. SO I PARKED AT THE CURB, TURNED OFF THE IGNITION AND WAITED FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN TURNED THE IGNITION ON AGAIN. THE ESC DISAPPEARED FROM THE DASHBOARD BUT THE MIL REMAINED LIT UP. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME AND THE NEXT DAY, TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT'S WORKING FINE NOW. I NOTICED THE DIFFERENCE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE BEFORE AND AFTER THE THROTTLE WAS CHANGED. I AM REPORTING THIS TO YOU BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD NEWS AND GOT A LETTER FROM A LAW FIRM INFORMING ME OF A NUMBER OF MECHANICAL DEFECTS REPORTED ABOUT THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN NOTICED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED A PUDDLE OF OIL ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I AM WRITING IN REGARDS TO AN ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING WITH MY JEEP PATRIOT THAT UPON FURTHER RESEARCH SEEMS TO BE PLAGUING MANY PATRIOT OWNERS AS WELL WITH NO SOLUTION. RANDOMLY MY VEHICLE WOULD LOSE ACCELERATION AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD LIGHT. WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN I WOULD LOSE THE POWER TO ACCELERATE AND WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. ONCE RESTARTED THE PROBLEM WOULD NO LONGER BE THERE AS IF IT DIDN'T HAPPEN. SOMETIMES THE 4WD AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WOULD IGNITE DURING THESE EPISODES. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS, BUT NOTHING POPPED ON THEIR END AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE ONLY WAY FOR THEM TO KNOW WHAT IS WRONG IS IF IT HAPPENS WHEN THEY HAVE IT. BEING THERE CAN BE A WEEK OR MORE BETWEEN EPISODES THIS ISN'T FEASIBLE. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER BEING IT'S DANGEROUS FOR THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS. JUST TWO WEEKS AGO MY VEHICLE HAD THIS EPISODE OCCUR WHILE CROSSING AN INTERSECTION. THANKFULLY I MANAGED TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT INCIDENT BUT BEING A PREGNANT MOTHER DRIVING HER TODDLER AROUND THIS SITUATION COULD OF COST US OUR LIVES. TONIGHT MY CAR DID THE SAME AND I NEARLY GOT HIT BECAUSE I LOST ACCELERATION SUDDENLY ON A 55MPH ROAD. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A SAFE PLACE BUT NOW MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER DRIVABLE AND WILL HAVE TO BE TOWED TO BE FIXED. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 72000 MILES ON IT .

MY JEEP PATRIOT STARTING HAVING ACCELERATION ISSUES ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WHILE DRIVING, IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I AM TURNING OR DRIVING STRAIGHT, THE VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT IS BEING CUT OFF FROM THE FUEL AND GETS JERKY. 2014 JEEP PATRIOT STALLS OUT ON ME. TRAVELING AT SPEEDS ANYWHERE FROM 30MPH TO 55 MPH. PROBLEM INITIALLY STARTED IN EARLY 2016. DRIVING AT SPEED OF 55 MPH, CAR WILL START TO VIBRATE, THE ENGINE AND THE ETC (ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL) LIGHTS WILL COME ON AND THE ENGINE WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND STALL OUT. THE LAST STALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING OCCURRED 09/07/17. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO THE ROAD AFTER BEING ON THE SHOULDER, THE CAR WILL LUNGE FORWARD AND AGAIN STALL OUT. AFTER 5-7 ATTEMPTS AND NEARLY BEING HIT EACH TIME I TRY TO GET ON THE MAIN ROAD, THE PATRIOT WILL FINALLY GET ME STRAIGHT HOME. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING EVERY 3-4 MONTH OCCURRENCE FOR THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. I HAVE CONTACTED THE JEEP DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND THEY TELL ME THEY KNOW OF NO SUCH COMPLAINTS OCCURRING. THIS VEHICLE MUST BE RECALLED, IT IS A DEATHTRAP! ONE MORNING I TRIED TO TURN ON MY VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START. GOT A FRIEND TO COME OUT TO TRY AND JUMP START IT AND AFTER ABOUT 30 MIN IT WAS SUCCESSFUL. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME ISSUE. TRIED TO JUMP THE CAR AGAIN WITH NO SUCCESS. REPLACED THE BATTERY BUT DID NOT HELP. ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONEMTS INSIDE THE CAR (RADIO,LIGHTS,ECT) WERE STILL FUNCTIONAL BUT ENGINE WOULD NOT START OR EVEN MAKE A SOUND LIKE IT WAS ATTEMPTING TO START. JEEP WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE ISSUE AFTER 1.5 WEEKS OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. I THEN TOWED IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP AND HE STATED THAT HE DIDNT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. HE REMOVED THE PLASTIC COVERINGS OVER THE ENGINE AND STATED THEY ARE JUST FOR LOOKS AND DONT NEED TO BE THERE AND CLEANED SOME WIRES NEAR THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL AND THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START. LATER WHILE DRIVING MY JEEP STARTED TO ACT STRANGE. RANDOMLY ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD WOULD TURN ON, THE GUAGES WENT ALL THE WAY TO ZERO THEN BACK UP TO NORMAL THE RADIO WOULD SHUT OFF AND TURN BACK ON AND THE CAR WOULD FEEL LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED EXCEPT THIS TIME THE LIGHTS STAYED ON ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT COULD NOT ACCELERATE MY VEHICLE AND POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I THEN WOULD HAVE TO PULL MY JEEP TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TURN IT OFF LET IT SET FOR A LITTLE THEN IT WOULD START BACK UP FINE. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE WEEKS. WHEN IT WASNT HAPPENING AND I WAS DRIVING THE JEEP AROUND NORMALLY THE CHECK BATTERY LIGHT WOULD ALWAYS TURN ON AFTER ABOUT 5 TO 10 MIN AFTER DRIVIMG THE VEHICLE. OCCASIONALLY THE CHECK OIL LIGHT WILL ALSO TURN ON. I HAVE STILL FOUMD MP SOLUTION TO THESE PROBLEMS AMD IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. BECAUSE OF MY IGNORANCE ABOUT SUCH INCIDENCES WHEREBY CARS SELF-ACCELERATE, I THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE ACCIDENTALLY STEPPED ON THE GAS AND WHEN THE POLICE ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND ASKED ME WHAT HAPPENED, I SAID, "MAY BE I STEPPED ON THE GAS". The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the passenger’s side active headrest had deployed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the two plastic clips used to hold the headrest in place were fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V282000 (Electrical System, Air Bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 16,000. The VIN was not available.

The Snuglock feature on the car seat is not securing the seat belt for a safe installation. My child is able to loosen the installation of the car seat belt by pushing on vehicle seat while rear facing in the car seat. This is a reoccurring problem, even after reinstallation. The seat belt comes loose. This means in an accident the car seat would likely move off of the vehicle seat due to failure of the seat belt securing it to the vehicle seat.

IF THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING, THEY SHOULD BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR THEIR LACK OF ADDRESSING THIS CRITICAL ISSUE. THROTTLE BODY HOUSING FAILURE: WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON AN INTERSTATE WITH SPEED LIMIT OF 60MPH, VEHICLE WOULD DECELERATE FROM 50MPH DOWN TO 20MPH AND WOULD NOT SPEED UP REGARDLESS OF HOW I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. TOTAL CONTROL POWER MODULE (TIPM) FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD JEEP PATRIOTS LIGHTS STARTED FLICKERING, THE MOST OF THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN PULLING OVER THE VEHICLE STALLED AND LOST ASSISTED BRAKING AND POWER STEERING. ONCE STOPPED TURNED THE KEY OFF AND REGAINED COMPOSURE. AFTER IT SAT FOR A FEW SECOND THE JEEP STARTED RIGHT BACK UP AND WAS FINE. TOOK THE JEEP TO A LOCAL STORE TO HAVE THE STARTING AND CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKED AND WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS OPERATING WITHIN NORMAL PARAMETERS. SINCE THEN WE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE REPEAT OCCURRENCES AND NOW THE JEEP HAS TO BE JUMP STARTED IF YOU WANT IT TO RUN. THE JEEP WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BAD TIPM TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER UNIT. TAKATA RECALL I TOOK MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT INTO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER FOR REPAIR OF THE S61 TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP BEING REPAIRED, THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THE NEWLY INSTALLED PART MALFUNCTIONED AND THOUGHT THE CAR HAD ROLLED OVER, AND DEPLOYED ALL AIRBAGS IN THE CAR. THIS DESTROYED THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, INCLUDING THE ROOF, SEATS, FRONT CONSOLE, STEERING WHEEL, AND SEAT BELTS. THE MANAGER MENTIONED THEY WOULD FIX THE DAMAGE. HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS SUBMITTED FOR THE REPAIR ON APRIL 12, 2018, AND AS OF MAY 14, 2018 THEY HAVE NOT REMOVED THE OLD AIRBAGS, OR INSTALLED ANY NEW AIRBAGS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. IF THE NEWLY INSTALLED PART USED TO FIX THE RECALL HAD MALFUNCTIONED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN USE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL IF AND WHEN THE PART WAS GOING TO MALFUNCTION. I NOW HAVE MY CONCERNS REGARDING THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE, THE RELIABILITY OF THE RECALLED PART, AND THE SAFETY OF ANY NEWLY INSTALLED TAKATA AIRBAGS. THERE IS PROFESSIONAL NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE JEEP SERVICE CENTER FOR NOT REPAIRING THEIR ERROR FOR GREATER THAN 5 WEEKS AFTER THE DAMAGED OCCURRED, FOR REDUCING THE VALUE OF MY CAR, AND FOR USING FAULTY EQUIPMENT IN THEIR REPAIR. WENT TO MECHANIC, WHERE THEY REPLACED FAULTY SWAY BAR AND ALSO INSTALLED AN EXHAUST SPRING BOLT KIT THAT WAS NEVER INSTALLED TO BEGIN WITH. GET THE CAR BACK TO NOT ONLY HAVE THE SAME ISSUES AGAIN ALONG WITH ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION SEEMING TO SLIP. I WAS APPROACHING A RED LIGHT- AGAIN WITH MY SON IN THE CAR, WHILE BREAKING- THE CAR JUMPS RPM AND ALMOST RAN INTO CAR IN FRONT OF ME. ALSO ON CRUISE CONTROL THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP REV'N THE ENGINE. IT WAS STUCK OVER 4 RPM. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR SAFETY BUT IT IS FAR FROM SAFE. THERE WAS AN AIRBAG RECALL BUT WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR IT WAS MARKED AS A SEAT BELT RECALL. AT 27,900 MILES THE PLASTIC GEARS IN THE THROTTLE BODY FAILED, CAUSING AN UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND CLIMBING A HILL. I DID MY RESEARCH AND LEARNED THAT THIS ISSUE HAS EXISTED SINCE 2007 WITH NO PERMANENT SOLUTION. THIS MANIFESTS ITSELF AS AN INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER UNTIL THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT COMES ON AT WHICH POINT I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. THERE IS AN EXCELLENT VIDEO BY MOTOR CITY MECHANIC ON YOUTUBE THAT EXPLAINS THIS ISSUE IN DETAIL. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ONE OF THESE FAILS AT SPEED AND SOMEONE IS KILLED.

THE CAR MADE A RIDICULOUS SCREAMING NOISE AND THIS WAS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 2 WEEKS (THIRD TIME BRINGING IT IN FOR THE ABOVE PROBLEM) AND NOW IT IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN WHERE I AM BEING TOLD THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THEY CAN DO. ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS DRIVING SOUTH PROCEEDED THROUGH THE RED LIGHT, AT ABOUT 45 MPH, AND HIT THE 2014 JEEP PATRIOT BROADSIDE, PASSENGER SIDE. THE JEEP WAS PUSHED AND SPUN 90 DEGREES FROM THE IMPACT OF THE COLLISION, WE WERE TOSSED AROUND VIOLENTLY IN OUR SEATS, WITH THE PASSENGER OBTAINING CONTUSIONS AND ABRASIONS TO HER ARM CLOSEST TO THE IMPACT SITE. SHE HAD ALSO BANGED HER HEAD AGAINST THE WINDOW AND STRAINED HER NECK FROM THE IMPACT, ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE OF THE JEEP. AND FINALLY, HAD STRAINED THE MUSCLES IN HER LOWER BACK FROM GETTING THRUST AT THE DIRECTION OF THE IMPACT SITE. THE DRIVER HAD SUFFERED AN IMPACT ABRASION TO HIS LEFT ARM, LEAVING AN IMPRINT OF THE SEAT BELT MATERIAL INTO HIS SKIN. HE HAD ALSO SUFFERED MUSCLE STRAINS AND LOWER BACK STRAINS FROM THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT. AGAIN, WHILE BEING HIT FROM A VEHICLE GOING 45 MPH, AND LEAVING DAMAGE THAT HAD LITERALLY STARTED TO FOLD THE VEHICLE AT THE MIDPOINT, AND COLLAPSED THE WHEEL AND AXLE, NOT A SINGLE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED IN THIS VEHICLE. THIS CAR I PURCHASED HAS MANUAL DOOR LOCKS. MY WIFE HAS GREAT DIFFICULTY UNLOCKING THE REAR DOORS AND FOR MY MOTHER IN LAW IT IS IMPOSSIBLE. THE CAR WAS ORDERED SO I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE YOUNG, ELDERLY, AND THOSE PHYSICALLY IMPAIRED WOULD FIND IT IMPOSSIBLE TO UNLOCK THE REAR DOORS. PERSONNEL AT THE DEALERSHIP AGREE WITH MY ASSESSMENT AND I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK THREE TIMES AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. WAS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, GLANCED AT THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR AND NOTICED GREY SMOKE COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT BEFORE A SAFE PULL OVER SPOT WAS AVAILABLE. ONCE LIGHT CHANGED TO GREEN, VEHICLE WOULD BARLEY MOVE EVEN WITH INCREASED THROTTLE PRESSURE. ON WELL TRAVELED MINING ROADS IN 4WD, WHEN ONE TIRE SLIPS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EVEN PULL ITS OWN WEIGHT AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT REV OVER 2,000 RPM. I BACK UP, PUT THE VEHICLE IN 4X4 LOW AND IF ANY WHEEL SLIPS, IT WOULD STOP AT 2,000 RPM AGAIN. ALL I CAN DO IS BACK DOWN A DANGEROUS ROAD AND TRY TO FIND A SPOT WHERE I CAN TURN AROUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, BEEN TO 2 DEALERS IN 2 STATES 4 TIMES. THE VEHICLE STRANDED ME ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DOING THE SAME THING IN DANGEROUS AREA WITH CLIFFS OR STEEP DROP OFFS TO RIVERS AND ROCK OUT CROPS ON ONE SIDE. CHRYSLER HQ SAID THEY WILL NOT WORK ON MY VEHICLE ANYMORE AND THAT THE TRUCK IS PERFORMING AS DESIGNED! DESIGNED TO STRAND SOMEONE ON A WELL TRAVELED MINING ROAD THE OTHER PICKUPS CAN GET TO WITHOUT 4X4? I BOUGHT THIS 4X4 WITH THE OFF ROAD TRAIL RATED PACKAGE BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT THE SELLING DEALER SAID I NEEDED FOR MINING. IT HAS NOT BEEN OFF ROAD. I CAN'T EVEN GET TO WHERE I WORK AND THIS VEHICLE HAS EVEN FAILED ON VERY SMALL HILLS WITH DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL IN THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER DEALER TEST DROVE IT, FAILED AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 2,300 RPM. THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THEY DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM IN 4X4 DRIVE, 4X4 LOW, WITH AND WITHOUT TRACTION CONTROL. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT PULL ITS OWN WEIGHT AND NO WHEELS ARE EVEN SPINNING. VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN AND CAN'T EVEN GET TO MY JOB! WHEN I HAVE TO BACK DOWN BECAUSE IT WILL NOT GO FORWARD I HAVE TO MAKE SURE IT'S A PLACE PERPENDICULAR TO THE SLOPE OF THE INCLINE OR YOU ARE STUCK DIAGONAL TO THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO FORWARD AND THERE IS NO MORE ROOM TO BACK UP WITHOUT GOING OFF A CLIFF, FALLING INTO A RIVER OR SLIDING INTO A CANYON. *TR
