The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, there was a loud knocking sound coming from the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: S18: (Engine Oil Consumption); however, the vehicle was not included in the program. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

Engine stalls/shuts off while driving. No warning given. Even after having my fuel pump and throttle body replaced, the issue still occured. There seems to be a recall for other vehicles but mine isnt listed.

Catalytic converter is bad. Check engine light is on. Other 2015 Patriots have a recall for catalytic converter recall but mine is not on that list. Should be.

Jeep entered limp mode right as I was pulling out on to the street. Brought the car into a mechanic to have it diagnosed, turns out to be the ETC. Call a dealership to get a estimate on cost, they told me that a significant portion the jeep patriots from that year are currently experiencing this, to the point where the part is on back order nation wide. Estimated repair cost $1400. 40,000 miles.

Drivers headrest deployed while vehicle was in my driveway overnight. I could have been injured or it could have cause an accident if the headrest deployed while driving. Many other people online have had this issue with their 2015 Jeep Patroit. No warnings provided and despite an auto repair place stating they cannot repair it but they believe there was a recall for this. I have not found one but there should be. Because I was told it was expensive to replace I did not have it repaired when it occurred sometime in early 2024. No police informed since it occurred while parked in my driveway overnight.

My vehicle's driver side headrest deployed for no reason at all. This happened approximately August 2024. I'm the only person who drives this vehicle. I went into my car and to my surprise I noticed that it had deployed. Since I wasn't driving the vehicle when it deployed , it must have happened when the vehicle was parked in my driveway. November 11, 2024, I brought my vehicle to a repair shop to replace a crankshaft sensor and while the vehicle was there I asked them to reset the headrest. They said that they could not reset it and that the headrest would have to be taken apart in order to fix it and that it would be expensive to fix. So since the headrest was not my priority at the time and I didn't want to spend a lot on it, I told them to not fix it. They also said that Chrysler "might" recall the headrest in December 2024 so to bring it back to them once there is a recall.

Vacuuming vehicle front passenger side, depress lever to push seat back and headrest deployed forward exposing the inside of headrest. Looks like a plastic piece is broken. Can not reset/push headrest back into normal position.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the front driver seat headrest was deployed without warning or impact. The headrest hit the back of the contact's head which caused pain to his head, back, and neck. The contact did not seek medical treatment. The dealer was initially contacted and he was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

My 2015 Jeep Patriot randomly loses power to the engine/stalls out nearly every time I make a trip. More specifically, the RPMs will suddenly drop to zero. This has happened at every speed from 10 mph to 80 mph. Often I have to pull over, take the key out and lock/unlock the doors several times to get the engine to start back up. I have been stranded for as long as 45 minutes to an hour waiting for the vehicle to become operable again.

My transmission failed while going 65 on the interstate with no warning. The only warning lights that were on, was the check engine light and the overheat light, which only came on about 30 seconds before transmission failure. The vehicle lost all power, which made it reduce speed, extremely fast, and wouldn’t gain speed at all which almost caused the vehicle behind me to hit me at a high rate of speed. I had a hypersensitive special needs child in my car at the time, and the very loud, high pitch whiny noises has actually had him struggling since it happened. I am in extremely bad health as well, with a heat intolerance and this jeep stranded myself, and my special needs child on the side of the interstate for approximately two hours because I was out of town and had to wait for someone to travel to me. Temp that day was approximately 90 degrees. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle was checked out by two service centers, one being a certified Jeep dealership, and both confirmed that my transmission failed due to overheating transmission because of hot weather, and that was an ongoing issue with other patriots as well. Spent about three hours, trying to get a hold of Jeep, the representatives are rude and disrespectful, and they wanted me to pay more money for a specific diagnostic test that they required because it would better help them, but not benefit me at all.

Driver side AHR deployed while vehicle was parked in the driveway. Albeit there want anyone in the car and thank god it wasn’t being driven but this is safety issue in my opinion. I’ve looked into resetting it and attempted to but then noticed that the system wasn’t activated and the plastic that holds the straining pin in has broke. Now I’ve stuck with a deployed headrest and a bill to replace it when this is clearly a fiat Chrysler problem

I HAVE A 2015 JEEP PATRIOT WITH 65,000 MILES ON IT. OVER THE LAST 2 WEEKS, THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED TO CUT OFF OUT OF NOWHERE WHILE DRIVING. THE RPM DROPS TO ZERO AND THEN THE CAR SHUTS OFF. NO WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. NO ERROR CODES SHOW UP. NOTHING. IT STARTS BACK UP, USUALLY WITH NO ISSUE BUT THEN DOES IT AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER. IT HAPPENS VERY SPORADICALLY AND SEVERAL TIMES A DAY. IT HAPPENS WHILE GOING SLOW, GOING FAST, WHILE ACCELERATING OR DECELERATING. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD AND WE LIVE ON BACK ROADS. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. IT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS THAT THERE ARE THIS MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE AND THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL.

I bought my 2015 Jeep Patriot new as I was getting older & I said this is the last vehicle I will buy. I am nearing [XXX] now & today I took it about 35 miles from home & on way back it jerked so hard I didn't think I was gonna make it home. I was going 65 mph but even slowing down to 45-50 it still jerked bad! There was no lights on the dash come on. Was very scary. I have babied my car took excellent care of it & have 45,000 miles on it. I do not have money to have transmission replaced & that's what I'm reading on computer. I have so many medical bills I can't afford nothing right now. Did I miss a recall or have there been problems with these cars transmissions? Can you help me know what it could be? March 11, 2023, we were traveling on Route 193, in Greenbelt, Md. when another driver attempted a left turn taking our right of way. We didn't have any advanced warning and impacted the other vehicle. We were traveling approximately 30-35mph in a 35mph zone. The impact caused us to go into the dash. The airbags did not deploy.

For the past several months we are having trouble with the computer issue with this vehicle. We took it to a repair shop and they confirmed, in fact one of the mechanics had the very same problem, that the computer is malfunctioning. Here is what is happening...the car won't start and as you turn the key it just hesitates and you pray it will start. The A/C won't come on...the clock on the dash does not show the correct time...the "bell" dings when you exit the vehicle even though there is no key in the ignition, the lights have been turned off, etc. It won't stop dinging until you shut the door. Also, the rear window defogger indicator light is flashing like warning you to turn it off. Also, the CD player won't eject a CD. Then come a few days later and none of this happens. It is always a gamble when you get in the Jeep wondering if it will start. I feel, since this has happened to other Jeeps, there should be a recall on this particular situation.

MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING IN MOTION IN HER 2015 PATRIOT WHEN SIMULTANEOUSLY THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL ICONS ALL CAME ON. SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND JERKING SLOWLY BACK AND FORTH. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A FIRESTONE AND THE SERVICE TECH SAID IT LOOKS LIKE FAILURE TO THE THROTTLE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SAFFORD CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF SPRINGFIELD (7611 LOISDALE RD, SPRINGFIELD, VA 22150) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WAS A DIFFICULT CASE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER TO OPEN A CASE REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND CASE NUMBER: 34002244 WAS OPENED. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING POTENTIAL ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING HOSE CLAMP FOR MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT. I CONTACTED MARTY CANCILA (2175 N HWY 67, FLORISSANT, MO 63033) ON 2/8/16 TO SCHEDULE MY VEHICLE TO BE INSPECTED. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED PART IN AND THAT I WOULD BE PLACED ON A CALLBACK LIST. THE RECALL NOTICE STATES THAT IF THE DEALER HAS NOT REMEDIED THIS ISSUE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME THAT I HAD THE OPTION TO SUBMIT A COMPLAINT. I AM NOT SURE WHAT CONSTITUTES AS A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. BUT, IF MY VEHICLE COULD POSSIBLY CATCH ON FIRE IF IT IS AFFECTED, I FEEL THIS IS AN URGENT MATTER THAT SHOULD NOT BE PLACED ON HOLD.

The throttle body on my 2015 Jeep has been replaced twice and is faulty again for the third time. I've owned the vehicle since brand new from dealer. The throttle body’s main task is regulating air intake on the engine. The throttle body malfunction makes the Jeep prone to engine stalling, starting failure, or power surge while accelerating. It is a safety hazard and environmental hazard, since the problem impacts engines and emissions. Significant problems like reduced acceleration or deteriorating fuel efficiency.

My Jeep Patriot stalls after I fill up the gas tank 1-2 miles after it is filled every time. It does this at random times with no warning, the steering and brakes lock up with no throttle control. It is extremely dangerous as it’s happened in heavy traffic and could turn out worse for others with the same issue.

I see there is a recall on other Jeep Patriots for a catalytic convertors. Mine was not included but i have had numerous emission issues. My catalytic convertor and both O2 sensors went and it is not covered. I am wondering why my jeep wasn't included in the recall.

SPUTTERING AND VIOLENT BUCKING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. "LIGHTENING BOLT" STARTED BLINKING ON DASH BOARD. TURNED OUT I HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. MY CAR ONLY HAD 55,000 MILES AT THE TIME. VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND THIS STARTS.

ON JUN 1 2022, MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON , THEN THE BRAKES CAME ON WITHOUT ME APPLYING THEM SEVERAL TIMES, I CALLED THE DEALER SAWYER MOTORS ,AND THE SERVICE MANAGER. SAID THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE WITH THIS MODEL TO OTHER CUSTOMERS. I AM A CERTIFIED MECHANIC ALSO SO I PULLED THE FUSES FOR THE ABS SYSTEM SO THE BRAKES WILL NOT COME ON WITHOUT ME APPLYING THEM . THAT STOPPED THE PROBLEM BUT NOW I HAVE NO CRUIZE CONTROL, SPEEDOMETER, OR BACK UP LIGHTS. I CHECKED THE REAR RIGHT WHEEL BEARING HUB AND THE SPEED SENSOR HAD COME OUT OF A WEAK POORLY DESIGNED THIN HOLDING CLAMP ON THE REAR WHEEL HUB. MOST CARS HAVE A MORE SECURE WAY OF HOLDING THIS SENSOR TO THE REAR HUB NOT A THIN SHEET METAL CLIP WHICH RUSTS Away and the sensor just falls out....! causing all these problems and the safety issue.. NOW THE WhOLE HUB HAS TO BE REPLACED AT SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS COST.

SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR IN 2016 THE BRAKES KEEP MAKING THIS LOUD SOUND AND I HAVE TAKE TO THE DEALER TWICE WHO TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. SO THEN I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER SHOP WHO THEN TOLD ME IT WAS MY FRONT AND BACK BRACKES AND ROTORS BUT CAR IS NOT THAT OLD. SO I WENT AHEAD AND JUST PAID TO REPLACE IT TO BE SAFE AND TWO DAYS AFTER THIS WORK WAS DONE IT GAVE ME THE SAME SOUND AND NOW THEY ARE TELL ME THIS IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO SOUND. I HAVE HEARD OTHER JEEPS JUST LIKE MINE MAKE THAT SAME NOISE SO I WONDER IF THIS IS A ISSUE WITH ALL THE 2015 JEEP PATRIOTS. ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL KEEPS ACTING UP. THE LIGHT FLASHES ON AS IT LOSES POWER THEN IT WILL RUN FINE FOR A LITTLE BIT AND DO IT AGAIN. THERE IS NO CODE. I KEEP GETTING HESITATIONS IN THE JEEP. IT WILL HICCUP ALONG THE HIGHWAY OR AS I TRY TO ACCELERATE. THERE IS NO SPECIFIC TIME WHEN IT HAPPENS. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE WIRE HARNESS REPLACED IN MY JEEP A YEAR AGO.

VEHICLE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATING ON FLAT OR INCLINED GROUND. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL (ETC) INDICATOR LIGHT WILL COME DURING THE HESITATION AND GO OFF WHEN POWER RESUMES. SEE ATTACHED PHOTO FOR REFERENCE. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION THE RED LIGHT HAS COME ON AND THE CAR HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TRACTION AN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE CAR CAN BE TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AND THIS OCCASIONALLY CLEARS IT. AT TIMES AN OBD-II COMPUTER MUST BE USED TO CLEAR THE CODES AND THEN RESUME DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SPORADICALLY SINCE 2018.

VEHICLE FAILS TO START MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE BATTERY AND STARTER ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. COMMON FIXES THAT ARE RECOMMENDED ARE REPLACING THE WCM OR THE RELAY BOX. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WILL START AFTER MULTIPLE TIMES AND LEAVING THE KEY CRANKED FOR 20 SECONDS+, BUT THIS ISN'T ALWAYS RELIABLE. BROUGHT IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY COULDNT RECREATE THE ISSUE, SO IT WAS NEVER RESOLVED FOR MY CASE.

After waiting for several minutes, the vehicle was restarted and regained power; however, the vehicle was sputtering while starting. The check engine warning light illuminated with a red lightning bolt flashing when the failure occurred. The failure reoccurred after being repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the electronic throttle body had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure recurred a second time and the vehicle was returned to the mechanic but was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. TODAY 02/05/20 I GOT IN MY CAR TO LEAVE FOR WORK AND 5 MINS INTO DRIVING AGAIN LIGHTS TURN ON CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, ETC LIGHT (LIGHTENING BOLT), AND STABILITY LIGHT CAME ON AND AGAIN LOST POWER AND WENT FROM 25 MPH TO 5 MPH. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF MY CAR AND START IT AGAIN TO BE ABLE TO GET IT TO MY HOUSE BUT HAD TO DO THIS 3 TIMES TO GET IT TO MY HOUSE WHICH WAS 5 MINS AWAY. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME WITHIN 2YEAR THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME. THERE IS SO MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ON THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE ONLY 36,000 MILES ON MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT. ON A TRIP FROM PENNSYLVANIA TO GEORGIA, HALFWAY THERE, THE ETC LIGHT AND THE ESC CAME ON. I HAD TO PULL OVER EVERY 45 TO 50 MILES TO RESET IT. I HAD TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC. THIS WILL COST OVER $500. THE MECHANIC SAID THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH ONLY 36,000 MILES. WHY, WITH MANY COMPLAINTS, WOULD THIS NOT BE A RECALL?

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the fuel and the oxygen were not mixing correctly. The dealer confirmed that the throttle body box sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who confirmed that the same failure had reoccurred. The throttle body box sensor was replaced again. The contact stated that after the repair, while starting the vehicle, there was a misfire coming from the engine. The contact made several attempts, but the failure persisted. Pressure plate replaced twice and still not working with only 27301 miles. Went in for routine oil change no problems during the last warranty oil change things start to change. Returned to the dealership to express problem report back oil needed top off. Checked for recalls none reported. Truck continued to drive funny popping out of gear when driving and speed decrease while driving on the interstate. No warning lights or any indication something was wrong. I haven't driven my truck in three years due to dealership not having staff and no one is willing to work on Jeep vehicles. Total waste of money and no support. The sad part the tow truck driver towed my neighbors car and remembered towing my truck and stated he has towed many more since.

THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS REPAIRED IN NOVEMBER OF 2019. IT IS JULY OF 2020, I HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 2500 MILES SINCE THE INITIAL REPAIR AND THE VEHICLE IS PRODUCING THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS IT WAS BEFORE THE REPAIR. IT HESITATES, ALMOST STALLS, AND LUNGES WHILE DRIVING. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE DRIVE BY WIRE WARNING LIGHT ALL FLASH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND RUNNING.

CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THROTTLE CONTROL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. VECHILE BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND IMMEDIATELY FLASHED THE LIGHTNING BOLT WARNING LIGHT DROPPING FROM 80MPH TO 10 MPH. THIS WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VECHILE VIOLENTLY SPUTTERING. VECHILE WILL START BUT WHEN DRIVE IS ENGAGED AT LOW RPM NOTHING HAPPENS. WITH ACCELERATION THE CAR WILL SPUTTER AND NOT GET PAST 15 MILES PER HOUR. DURING SPUTTERING NO POWER STEERING IS AVALIBLE AND BRAKING IS MADE DIFFICULT WITH SPUTTERING.

MY JEEP WILL STOP ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHILE DRIVING UP TO SPEED, IT WILL STOP ON RURAL STREETS AND WHILE TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT IT WILL SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN..THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT ONLY SHUTS DOWN WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION. My car has caught on fire with smoke at least 4 times, 3 times with my minor child inside of it. I have video to show you just how dangerous it is. All components of the vehicle have failed. I have put thousands of dollars into the vehicle and it only has 80,000 miles on it. My safety and my son and elderly mother's safety has been at extreme risk and my car is NOT SAFE TO OWN OR DRIVE. Carl Gregory, the dealer, never informed me EVER of a 2015 Jeep Patriot recall only three months after I purchased the vehicle while pregnant. The vehicle has been inspected/ worked on by Carl Gregory and now Southern Motors Jeep several times over the last 8 years located on Middleground Road at the corner of Abercorn Street in Savannah, Georgia. My insurance company has charged me to tow my vehicle at least six times as my son and I have been stranded all over the city waiting hours for a tow truck. There were no warning lamps on the vehicle prior to it catching fire and I have my car tuned regularly at Wal-Mart Automotive and cleaned at Montgomery Cross Roads Car Wash once a month. Today the engine stalled and I barely made it out of of the street which is highly dangerous for pedestrians and other drivers on the road. This is probably the 3rd time it has done that. The steering wheel stalls leaving me at the whim of an open road as my car goes out of control. The radio's electrical unit shut down two years ago and the back door does not open. I can't afford to fix those.The brakes were replaced approximately two years after owning it as the vehicle would not slow down during a red light (at the cost of $2,000). I had to veer right. Last November, the car was worked on and the clutch was replaced because it stopped working. One month ago we paid $600 for a new power steering hose to be replaced as it apparently was and continues to leak fluid. This has now been indicated on the dashboard as "hot oil". Currently, I love my car but my family and I are PETRIFIED AND TRAUMATIZED.

Two issues- First one the vehicle engine tends to randomly sputter like there is a dead cylinder. Which I have found by adding electric jell to the spark plug connector will make the problem go away for a short time. Second one now in the rear transfer case is marking a grinding noise and is getting louder.

MY JEEP PATRIOT WILL STALL OUT ON ME UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD THOUSANDS OF WORK DONE ON IT JUST FOR IT TO CONTINUE TO HAPPEN. NO SHOP HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG DUE TO NO CODE SHOWING UP. IT HAS BEEN OVERHEATING ON ME AND HAS BEEN CAUSING ME TO THROW AWAY A LOT OF MONEY. I'm having acceleration issues and the roms are going too high before shifting. And the steering column starts shaking on the highway after o get going fast like 45 or so. There's one light on and it's my low tire pressure light, but the tires aren't really low. And the issue has been occuring on and off periodically since after I had my brake job in November. It might be an issue with the brake job because I can hear the brakes rubbing. But I sought advice from a mechanic and he thinks its the TCM that needs to be serviced. The issue hasn't occured for a couple weeks and then it occured again today.

I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS JUST ABOUT EVERYONE HERE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. I HAVE STALLED TWICE AND ONE OF THOSE TIMES ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT STALLED. MANY TIMES NOW FOR THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS IT HAS BEEN SLOWING DOWN TO A CRAWL AND REPEATEDLY HESITATING LIKE IT'S CHOKING. THIS HAPPENS PRESENTLY, AT ALMOST EVERY TURN I MAKE AND SOMETIMES I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. DEFINITELY SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AS IT MOST CERTAINLY IS A ROAD SAFETY CONCERN/ISSUE.

I GOT IT LOOKED AT THEY SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY, SUPPOSED IT GOT FIXED BUT I PAID A LOT OF MONEY AND SOMETIMES IT STILL JOLTS. I REALIZED THAT THIS WAS A BIGGER ISSUE WHEN MY MOM AND MY SISTER WHO EACH OWN A COMPASS 2014 & 2015 AND BOTH OF THEIR VEHICLES HAVE NOW PRODUCED THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM ALL OF US GETTING THE SAME ISSUE WHILE ALMOST BEING CRASHED IN TO ON THE HIGHWAY AND ON A MAIN ROAD. I noticed a vibration and it felt like the vehicle was shaking at times. This problem increased at higher speeds. I took it to a dealer for inspection and found out the control arms, tie rods, and ball joints were in critical condition and needed to be replaced. This vehicle has less than 50,000 miles on it.

JEEP HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS MAKING A WEIRD NOISE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I THOUGHT IT WAS TIRES, SO I GOT NEW TIRES AND THEY TOLD ME THE BALL JOINTS WERE LOOSE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY QUOTED IT AND SAID THAT WITHOUT FIXING IT, IT WOULD WEAR DOWN MY TIRES FASTER. I BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR INSPECTION AT ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY WERE SURPRISED, BUT THEY SAID THE BALL JOINT ASSEMBLIES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS THEY WERE LOOSE AND RUSTED OUT AND THAT THEY NEED TO DO BOTH CONTROL ARMS BECAUSE OF HOW THE JEEPS ARE BIT AND EXPLAINED IT THOROUGHLY. THEY ALSO SAID THEY COULD NOT ESTIMATE HOW MUCH OF A LIFE THEY HAD LEFT, BUT THAT IT WOULD BE BEST TO FIX IT BEFORE IT BROKE. I HAD THEM REPLACE THE FRONT CONTROL ARMS AND BALL JOINT ASSEMBLIES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE ACCELERATING, THE STEERING WHEEL PULLED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS MISSING THE PINCH BOLT AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE THAT THE BOLT WAS EVER PLACED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,500.

I WAS ON MY WAY TO TAKE MY SON TO SCHOOL, WHEN WHILE ON A BUSY CITY STREET MY CAR STARTED TO JERK, AND SUDDENLY I WAS NO LONGER TO ACCERALATE. I WAS LITERALLY SCARED FOR MY LIFE AND MY CHILD, AS THE SPEED OF MY CAR SLOWED DOWN SO FAST, THAT I ALMOST GOT REARENDED. WHEN MY CAR SLOWED DOWN AND COULD NO LONGER ACCERALATE, MY CHECK ENGINE, ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. IT WAS VERY ODD AS THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE. I READ AND SEEN THAT THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING. I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY (ABOUT 60 MILES PER HOUR) AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR 'S LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD CAME ON (ENGINE, ELECTRONIC STABILITY, LIGHTENING BOLT) THE POWER SEEMED TO BE DRAINING FROM MY VEHICLE, I COULD NOT LONGER ACCELERATE. I ALMOST GOT HIT IN THE BACK, LUCKILY THERE WAS AN EXIT THAT WAS CLOSE SO THE CAR BEHIND ME WAS ABLE TO TAKE A FORCED EXIT TO AVOID FROM HITTING ME. UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT HAPPENED, I TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND TURNED MY CAR OFF. I WAITED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND HESITANTLY DECIDED TO TRY TO RESTART THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT, ONLY TO GO ABOUT 2 MILES AND IT HAPPEN AGAIN. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND TOOK BACK STREETS ALL THE WAY HOME TO KEEP ME FROM GETTING INTO A WRECK. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN ABOUT 4 TIMES UNTIL I MADE IT HOME AND PARK IT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A HEADACHE EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. ONE MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT IT, THE GAS TANK SUNK AND PRETTY MUCH FELL INTO THE CAR SO DEEP THAT I COULD NO LONGER GET THE PUMP TO THE TANK TO FILL GAS. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER THAT, THE WHEELS STARTED SQUEALING, AND THIS WAS UNABLE TO BE FIXED. THE BOLTS THAT ARE USED UNDER THE HOOD DO NOT FIT THE CAR SO THINGS WOULD CONSTANTLY LOOSEN AS I DROVE IT AND EVENTUALLY ARE REPOSITIONED EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE REPLACED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENTS AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIPS. THERE'S SUBSTANCE MUCH LIKE ADHESIVE GLUE THROUGHOUT THE CAR ON CERTAIN PARTS WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IF THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW. ALL AROUND POORLY MADE CAR, YOU WILL END UP PAYING THE DOUBLE THE AMOUNT VALUED BASED ON THE REPAIRS. HORRIBLE. HOLD THIS MAKER ACCOUNTABLE, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. While driving the car RPM dropped to zero, I pressed the gas pedal, and RPMs went back to normal engine continued to work. The crank shaft sensor was replaced, it drove for another month (approximately) before it began with the same issue. This time I was driving on the highway (twice). The third time I was on a busy street when it happened with complete loss of power and the stability control light came on. This is so dangerous and could possibly cause an accident. After looking into this issue, I have found that this is not a common occurrence and there is even a recall for this exact reason for the 2016 Jeep Patriots. The vehicle was taken to the local Jeep dealership, and they stated there was no way of knowing what the issue is without the check engine light coming on. I find this hard to believe knowing that there are many instances of this happening and a recall on a newer model for the same thing. They replaced the Crank Shaft Sensor (which had already been replaced) and two cam shaft sensors, replaced the catalytic converter that was recalled and the passenger side seat which had deployed. We were charged nearly $800. This is outrageous considering this is a dangerous issue that has been recalled on the 2016 models. Jan 31, 2023, NHTSA reached out to Ms. Eanes for additional information involving issues of the Crankshaft in the 2015 Jeep Patriot.

THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED ON A STATE ROUTE 28. A MANUAL RESTART OF THE VEHICLE WAS REQUIRED EACH TIME, AND THE ISSUE OCCURS DAILY. AT 5,000 MILES, AGAIN, LOST ACCELERATION/WHINING GOING THROUGH TOLL BOOTH. TOOK TO DEALER 6990 MILES, KEPT FOR 2 DAYS, COULD NOT DUPLICATE. HVAC HEATER CORE. AS I WAS ABOUT TO EXIT A MAJOR INTERSTATE, VERY HOT ALMOST BOILING WATER DRIPPED EXCESSIVELY ON MY RIGHT FOOT OVER MY GAS PEDAL. THERE WAS NO WHERE TO EASILY PULL OVER SO I HAD TO DEAL WITH IT UNTIL BEING ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT OFF OF THE EXIT. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF AND CHECKED BENEATH THE DASH. STEAMING HOT WATER WAS DRIPPING FROM NUMEROUS PLACES UNDER THE DASH, MAINLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE A VIDEO SHOWING THE STEAM FROM THE WATER AFTER IT SLOWED DRIPPING A BIT. MY VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 70,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS I COULD HAVE EASILY GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT. WHILE RANDOMLY DRIVING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THROTTLE LIGHT COMES ON. I'VE HAD MY CAR TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CODES ARE P2135 AND P0121. DEALER SAID THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY DIDN'T CLEAR THE CODE. WENT HOME AND SLEPT, NEXT MORNING THE LIGHTS ARE OFF. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUOUS ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY DECEMBER 2018, MY GAS PEDAL 2 MONTHS AGO AND PART OF MY COMPUTER OVER A MONTH AGO AND THIS IS STILL HAPPENING. Over the past year, the car has had 4 crank position sensors, new pig tails/connectors on the wire harness, a new throttle body, and a new MCM. The Jeep will randomly shut off without warning either at stoplights/traffic or on the highway at speed. While at speed, the car will "restart" itself, but if it stalls while stagnant a manual restart is necessary. When the stalling occurs, warning lights do not appear on the dash. Lately, however; the crank position code P0339 has come up with the check engine light. I recently experienced a crank position sensor code followed by a cylinder 3 misfire which caused the car to go into limp mode. Once I replaced the MCM, the misfire went away. Most recently (today) the car stalled in the middle of an intersection while making a left turn; my [XXX] son was in the car with me. Since it was a stop light, the car was able to be restarted in time, but had it been a stop sign/non-stop oncoming traffic, the situation could have been much worse. When the ABS wheel sensor detaches from it's mounting point on the transaxle (i.e. from rust) but is still in proximity to the tone wheel, the intermittent signals sent to the ABS system causes unpredictable, uncontrolled application of the brakes while driving. This could very likely cause an accident as the car will brake without the brake lights illuminating resulting in a following vehicle crashing into the car. Also, unexpected braking could easily cause loss of control of the vehicle. There were yellow (not red) warning lights on the instrument cluster indicating that there was a problem with the ABS/Anti-skid / 4WD drive system. The warning lights appeared several days before the braking behavior was observed.

THE SPEED SENSORS IN THE REAR WHEEL HUBS ARE HELD ON WITH A THIN WIRE CLIP. THIS RUSTS AWAY VERY QUICKLY AND THE SENSOR FALLS OUT. THEN THE BRAKES CAN BE APPLIED WITHOUT THE DRIVER TOUCHING THE BRAKES . I have purchased a 2015 Jeep Patriot from Sunrise car dealer it has been 3 months now I took it back to the dealer they couldn't find anything wrong with it the car cut off in the middle of traffic in the middle of the expressway with a big 18-wheeler behind me scared me to death. I can see why they sold it to me without any warranty. I took it to a car repairment person ran a test on it couldn't find anything wrong with it. No codes were found, we took the car for a ride in the air and the radio didn't cut him off but as soon as I got back in it down the road it cut off again several times before I made it home. Please tell me if I can take the car back and trade it in for another car. Help

Had to drive home with virtually no exceleration with hazzards on due to unusual dangerous circumstances. Jeep problem not confirmed by dealer. Needs to be towed, for fear of safety. Disheartened,and without a vehicle hoping this can be affordable to fix or fixable at all.

ETC LIGHT WAS COMING ON, CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AS SHOULD WHEN GAS PEDAL WAS PRESSED. CAR WOULD JERK FORWARD AS IF WAS ABOUT TO DIE. TRYING TO GET ONTO HIGHWAY IS ALWAYS SKETCHY. FINALLY WENT COMPLETELY OUT AND LEAVING ME BROKE DOWN IN MIDDLE OF 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC AFTER TAKING TO DEALERSHIP AND BEING TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG BUT NEEDED A NEW BATTERY WENT AHEAD AND PAID FOR JUST FOR IT TO ALL CONTINUE. FINALLY TOLD THROTTLE BODY WAS AN ISSUE. GOT THE ENTIRE UNIT REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP NOT JUST THE SENSOR AND NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER SAME THING IS HAPPENING AGAIN. HUNDREDS OF OTHERS ON FORUMS FOR THE JEEP PATRIOT NO MATTER THE YEAR ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES OVER AND OVER! IT'S NOT SAFE! SOMEONE NEEDS TO TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. IT SHOWED UP AS A CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAULT, WE REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND NOW IT IS STUCK IN TIP START MODE AND WILL NOT START! THIS IS THE 3RD BRAND SENSOR THAT HAS BEEN TRIED. THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE 2016 RECALL ISSUE (SAFETY RECALL S89 / NHTSA 16V-907 CRANKSHAFT CAMSHAFT SENSOR WIRE HARNESS) THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS SAFETY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2015 JEEP PATRIOT HAVING REOCCURRING SIMILAR ISSUES AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THIS IS A 1 OWNER PURCHASED BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN CARED FOR PROPERLY AND HAS HAD MORE ISSUES THAN A 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULD. THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILED CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STOP WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING ON A CITY STREET IN BOSTON. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE NEAREST GARAGE WHERE THEY REPLACED THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, BUT THEN AN ENGINE CODE CAME UP SAYING THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I AM UNSURE IF THIS WAS RELATED TO THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR ISSUE OR JUST A COINCIDENCE. THE CAR THEN HAD TO BE TOWED TO A JEEP DEALER TO REPLACE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND RELEARN THE SENSORS. I NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2016 JEEP PATRIOTS FOR THE SAME CRANKSHAFT PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING IN 2015 JEEP PATRIOTS. I AM SEEING MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE. MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT USED TO KICK BACK WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING WHICH DEVELOPED INTO A STALL AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY GAVE ME NEW SPARK PLUGS AND CLEANED MY AIR INTAKE VALVES IN HOPES THAT IT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. THE CAR GIVES NO WARNING OR CODE TO DESCRIBE WHAT IS HAPPENING. FOR ABOUT A WEEK THERE WERE NO ISSUES AND THEN IT STALLED ON ME TWICE TODAY AND POWER STEERING GOES OUT. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND ACCELERATED ONCE IT TURNED GREEN BUT IT STALLED BEFORE I COULD MAKE IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. SINCE THEN THE CAR SKIPS DURING DECELERATION MOSTLY WHEN THE GEARS SHIFT IN TRAFFIC, GOING ON ROTARIES OR ATTEMPTING TO COME OFF /ON RAMP.. WENT TO MY USUAL MECHANICS RAN CODES ENDED UP REPLACING SENSOR IN THE ENGINE. THE CAR AGAIN STARTS TO SKIP AND HAS ONGOING ISSUES ACCELERATING. CAR RESTARTED, THE NEXT DAY ONLY ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. WHILE AT STOP LIGHT AND FOOT ON THE BREAK THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. ALL LIGHTS AND RADIO STAYED ON. RESTARTED CAR, DRIVING FINE. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AGAIN (AND WANTED TO DO SO AT MY EXPENSE). WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RETURN MY CAR, IT SHUT OFF ON THEM. THEY RETURNED IT TO ME SAYING IT HAD BEEN FIXED. NEXT DAY PROBLEM PERSISTED AND BECAME MORE FREQUENT. TOOK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REPLACED SENSOR CAM AND SENSOR CRA TO MY EXPENSE. NOW MY BREAKS ARE SHAKING. IT'S A THREE YEAR OLD CAR. I'M THE SECOND OWNER. IT SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS. I'M NOT SPENDING MORE MONEY AT THE DEALERSHIP. I'M SELLING THE VEHICLE. While driving the vehicle will randomly, without warning or any dash notification icons alerted, turn off engine- radio, lights, a/c everything else is still on but engine is off. This occurred 4 times in less than a 2 mile distance without any check engine or notification lights on the dash before, during, or after the event. This issue originally started about a week ago, when the check engine and throttle system notification icons came on, followed immediately by the car going into what seemed to be limp mode. Car was towed to the jeep dealership, they said issue was the battery and that an oil change was needed. Had issues addressed took the car how two days later, same issue occurred again. While driving same two icons suddenly came on then car went immediately into limp mode and was not driveable. Took the car back to the jeep dealer, they took a few days to drive it and stated it was the fuel throttle body that needed to be replaced. Had the part replaced and the car drove as normal, no icons on dash after the repair, next morning same issue occurred again while driving, icons come on dash, immediately car goes into limp mode. Circling back to the biggest concern, is I’ve found large amounts of owners having the exact same if not oddly similar issues with varying years of the jeep patriots. Many are reporting my reason for this report in that suddenly after Jeep dealers require all these repairs they’re experiencing the engine completely shutting off WHILE DRIVING. This is incredibly dangerous and I’m concerned as to why there A. Isn’t a repair for this common issue in these models, and B. Why a recall hasn’t been submitted for the most dangerous scenario where many owners are having their cars engines shut down while driving, and some at high speeds. This is incredibly dangerous and frustrating that our safety has not been addressed when online there are years worth of forums for these issues without resolution.

This car keeps shutting off and having overheating issues on and off while driving. I have replaced all pistons, fuel injectors, relays, gaskets, thermostats, hoses, and the catalytic converter. I've seen that over 60,000 cases have been reported about this issue with this vehicle and these vehicles are still being sold used at used car dealers despite the issues being unrepairable. This is a real safety issue as the car stops running with no warning no matter where you are driving. You can see all the same reports on multiple sites online. Why hasn't jeep done anything about this issue? I know I bought mine used but I'm sure the used car dealer would have never had this vehicle on their lot if it was recalled as it should have been.

On 5 occasions at various speeds and types of roads, my vehicle suddenly goes into limp mode, the engine shuts off and power steering goes out. I have very limited time and control to move off the road before the car behind me slams into me. The majority of the instances this has happened, the orange anti-skid light comes on though road conditions were fine. I found a recall of 2016 Jeep Patriots (s89/NHTSA 16-v-907 Crankshaft/Camshaft Sensor Wire Harness) and many complaints I've found experiencing the same thing I experienced were included in this recall. Mechanic ran my Jeep's code and it showed a number of things were triggered but he couldn't pinpoint what exactly could be the cause based on the code errors. I have a young child in a car seat in the back of my car and feel extremely unsafe taking her anywhere, let alone when it's just me in the car. Please consider adding the 2015 Patriot to this recall.

When the vehicle does this it reduces the speed to 35 no matter what or where you are. When you ho get the engine light checked, the code says it's a suction problem . LATER FOUND OUT THE 2015 JEEP PATRIOT I PURCHASED HAD 5 PREVIOUS OWNERS...MAKING ME THE 6TH OWNER.*** SEPT 2021 I WAS DRIVING DURING RUSH HOUR ON BUSY LAS VEGAS CITY STREET WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE AND NO WARNING MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT LOST POWER...3 DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON (LIGHTNING BOLT/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT/TRACTION CONTROL). I WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO A HOTEL PARKING LOT AFTER CROSSING 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC. ONCE PARKED, I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, WAITED ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS TRIED RESTARTING IT AGAIN AND TO NO AVAIL THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO MECHANIC SHOP WHERE THEY DETERMINED/DIAGNOSISED THE PROBLEM TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SO I HAD TO COME OUT OF POCKET ALMOST $1000. ALL THIS DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE MECHANIC THEY INFORMED ME THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS STILL ON BECAUSE MY RACK/PINION WAS DAMAGED SO MY ALIGNMENT IS OUT OF WHACK. THEY ALLOWED ME TO DRIVE OFF WITH MY VEHICLE EVEN WHEN THE ALIGNMENT BEING SCREWED UP. WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE HOME, I WAS SO SCARED BECAUSE IT FELT LIKE MY VEHICLE WANTED TO GO IN EVERY DIRECTION AT THE SAME TIME. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO BIG O TIRES TO HAVE THEM TEST THE ALIGNMENT. AFTER THEY RE-ALIGNED THE JEEP IT RAN PERFECT. BUT I SPOKE TO SOON...JUST AFTER 1 WEEK, IM NOW STARTING TO EXPERIENCE MORE ISSUES...CAR ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN, HESITATION WHEN TRYING TO TAKE OFF FROM RED LIGHT, BACK FIRING FROM EITHER THE TAIL PIPE OR UNDER THE HOOD (ALMOST SEEMS LIKE THE ENGINE IS BEING FLOODED OUT WITH TO MUCH GAS), MY GAS MILEAGE HAS GOTTEN WORSE. 2015 JEEP PATRIOT HAD A PROBLEM STARTING TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE EVENT. IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER WHILE PARKED. AFTER WAITING FIVE MINUTES, I TURNED THE KEY AGAIN AND IT STARTED. THEN, TWO DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH ON THE FREEWAY, THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING. FOR THE NEXT 20 SECONDS IT OSCILLATED BETWEEN ACCELERATING AND COASTING WHILE I HELD MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. AS I COASTED TOWARDS AN UPCOMING OFF-RAMP, I LOST POWER STEERING. ONCE I WAS OFF THE FREEWAY, I HAD TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN THEIR "DIAGNOSTIC TESTS" AND FOUND NOTHING. THEY TEST DROVE THE CAR FOR 10 MILES AND WERE UNABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUES. THEY UPDATED THE PCM AND TCM AND RAN THEIR COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AGAIN. NOTHING WAS FOUND. I FEEL INCREDIBLY UNSAFE DRIVING MY JEEP PATRIOT NOW. I ESCALATED THE ISSUE TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE WHO WAS UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME UNTIL THE PROBLEMS ARE RECREATED AND DOCUMENTED BY A DEALERSHIP. JEEP PATRIOT CONVERTER RECALL MY 2015 JEEP PATRIOT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON ME AND WAS UNABLE TO BE PUT INTO EITHER A DRIVE OR REVERSE OPTION. THE JEEP SHUT DOWN AND COULD NOT BE DRIVEN DUE TO THE CADILLAC CONVERTER. THE TRANSMISSION ON THE JEEP BECAME PHYSICALLY TORN INTO PIECES WHILE IT WAS OVERWORKED DUE TO THE CONVERTER ISSUE, AND MY EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS OVERWORKED. ACCELERATION BECAME AN ISSUE AS WELL. HAD TO HAVE THE JEEP TOWED, AND REPAIRED WITH HIGH COSTS DUE TO THE SERIOUS PROBLEM OF IT NOT BEING DRIVEABLE. I HAD THE CONVERTER REPLACED, THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED, AND OTHER SMALL REPAIRS IN ORDER TO FIX IT AND SAVE IT. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE AS OF YET, AND AM HOPING TO AVOID ANY IN THE FUTURE. I JUST BECAME AWARE OF THE NATIONAL RECALL FOR JEEP PATRIOTS AND THEIR CONVERTER MALFUNCTIONS. ON MARCH 8, 2019, WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A RURAL ROAD, THE ENGINE STALLED CAUSING THE CAR TO LOSE POWER STEERING AND THE RPMS TO DROP TO 0. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATION THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. ON THIS OCCASION I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE BATTERY FAILED DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AND REPLACED THE BATTERY. ON MARCH 22, 2019 WHILE IDLING AT A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE STALLED AGAIN CAUSING THE RPMS TO DROP TO 0. I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT/CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WAS MALFUNCTIONING. AFTER SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH I LOCATED SAFETY RECALL S89 / NHTSA 16-V-907 CRANKSHAFT CAMSHAFT SENSOR WIRE HARNESS ISSUED IN FEBRUARY 2017 AFFECTING 2016 DODGE JOURNEY, 2016 JEEP COMPASS AND 2016 JEEP PATRIOT.

ON 11/5/18, MY FIANC WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, ABOUT 65 MILES AN HOUR, WHEN THE CAR ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THIS CAUSED THE POWER STEERING TO STOP WORKING. SHE WAS BARELY ABLE TO COAST OFF OF THE FREEWAY, STRUGGLING TO STEER IT, WITHOUT HITTING OTHER VEHICLES ON THE BUSY FREEWAY. IT SAT FOR FOUR HOURS, AND THEN IT STARTED AGAIN. IT HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST FOUR TIMES IN A WEEK, ON CITY STREETS AND STOP LIGHTS, AND WOULDN'T START NUMEROUS TIMES THE CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 35,000 MILES ON IT. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP IN WOODBRIDGE VA., FOR A SENSOR CHIP REPLACEMENT ON 11/10/18. THAT EVENING, AFTER TAKING IT HOME, IT WOULDN'T START. IT WILL BE TOWED BACK TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP ON 11/12/18. THERE SEEMS TO BE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY OR WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM HAS NOT INITIATED A RECALL, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLES PEOPLE ARE REPORTING ON ARE SO LOW, INCLUDING ONE WITH ONLY 11,000 MILES. IT'S OBVIOUSLY A JEEP PROBLEM. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE A FATALITY IN ORDER TO INITIATE A RECALL.

STATRTING ON 23. MAY, 2018 MY VEHICLE STARTED RANDOMLY DYING WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A COMPLETE LOSS OF PROPULSION, THE RPMS DROP TO ZERO AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPS RUNNING. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE VEHICLE MOVING AGAIN WHEN IT DOES START IS TO COMPLETELY STOP, PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS NO PREFERENCE OR INDICATION OF WHEN IT IS GOING TO DO THIS, SO FAR IT HAS DIED WHILE PULLING INTO TRAFFIC, DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 60 MILES AN HOUR, TURNING INTO A PARKING STALL IN A BUSY MALL PARKING, WHILE CLIMBING HILLS AND WHILE GOING DOWN HILLS. THIS INFORMATION WAS GIVEN TO FCA ALONG WITH THE MILEAGE WHICH IS ROUGHLY 37800 MILES. ON 5 OCCASIONS WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AROUND 70MPH, THE CAR STARTS TO DECELERATE ON ITS OWN WITH NO INDICATORS ON THE VEHICLE SHOWING ANY ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE OVER 55MPH - YOU HAVE TO UNDERTAKE AN EMERGENCY MOVE INTO AN INSIDE LANE IN ORDER TO BE IN A SAFE LOCATION AND EVEN WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IT WILL NOT GO OVER 55MPH. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE CAR WILL THEN START TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, IT HAS ALMOST CREATED A S SITUATION WHERE THE CAR HAS BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND MY VEHICLES BEHIND DUE TO THE SUDDEN DECELERATION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKE INTO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE OR REPRODUCE IT.

MY CAR IS 2 YEARS OLD AND MY BRAKE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN ADDITION TO NEW GETTING NEW ROTORS. PROBLEMS STARTED OCCURRING WHEN I ONLY HAD MY CAR FOR 6 MONTHS AND WHENEVER I BRAKE, IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL GRINDING ON METAL. NEITHER MY DEALERSHIP NOR JEEP THEMSELVES HAVE A REASONABLE EXPLANATION FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW CAR. IN ADDITION, MY CAR HAS ALSO HAD PROBLEMS STARTING. WITHIN THE LAST TWO WEEKS, I HAVE HAD TWO INSTANCES OF TRYING TO TURN MY CAR ON AND THE BATTERY CAME ON, BUT THE CAR DID NOT MAKE ANY ATTEMPT TO TURN-OVER. IT TOOK MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO ACTUALLY GET IT STARTED. BEFORE NOW, MY CAR HAS HAD A FEW INSTANCES WHERE IT TAKES A WHILE FOR IT TO TURN OVER, WHICH IT EVENTUALLY DID COME ON, BUT IT WAS STRUGGLING AND I COULD TELL IT WAS VERY WEAK.

THE ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT NEVER CAME ON (BEFOREHAND) TO ALERT THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINE PROBLEM. THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE LOSES AIR (CONSTANTLY) AND I'VE HAD TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRE (SINCE PURCHASE DATE 3/13/15) EVERY OTHER WEEK AND THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS INSISTING THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH AND AVOIDING A CRASH WITH A VEHICLE IN FRONT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE BRAKES SEIZED. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER IN ORDER TO VEER TO THE SIDE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND RIGHT SHOULDER INJURIES WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.

NOW I AM HEARING THAT NOISE AGAIN. STEERING IS VERY SENSITIVE AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE, ESPECIALLY GOING AROUND A LEFT HAND CORNER ON THE HIGHWAY. MOTOR MOUNT WAS LOOSE AT 16000 MILES , WAS FIXED, BUT WHY WAS IT LOOSE? STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BADLY WHEN GOING OVER 65 MPH ON FREEWAY. E BRAKE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. IF IT IS PULLED AND I AM ON A HILL AND IT IS IN NEUTRAL OR THE CLUTCH IS PRESSED IN IT WILL ROLL... (DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT WORKS AND ALSO, THEY CANNOT ADJUST IT ANYMORE) WHY?.. THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM HAS TREATED ME TERRIBLY AND HASN'T GIVEN ME GOOD SERVICE IN THE SLIGHTEST. ONE OF THE SALESMAN CUSSED AT ME. THE SECOND TO THE LAST DAY OF HUNTING SEASON MY HUSBAND. AND I WENT UP ABOVE OUR HOUSE, ABOUT 15 MILES, WE WERE IN LIGHT SNOW, AND I COULD NOT GET THE THROTTLE TO ENGAGE CAUSED US TO SLIDE BACK A LITTLE AGAIN TRIED TO USE THROTTLE TO GO, MY HUSBAND SAW A WISP OF SMOKE ON PASSENGER SIDE, I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, MY HUSBAND LOOKS UNDER WHERE THE SMOKE CAME FROM AND THE RACK N PINION BOOT WHERE ON FIRE, I POPPED THE HOOD, FLAMES WERE TO HOT FOR HIM TO OPEN THE HOOD. I WALKED DOWN THE ROAD TO SAFETY, AS MY HUSBAND GOT OUT WHAT HE COULD OF OUR BELONGINGS OUT AND INTO THE SNOW BANK. AND IN THAT FEW MINUTES THE FLAMES WERE INSIDE THE CAB AND WINDOWS WERE EXPLODING, NEXT THE TIRES AND THE PAINT ETC.....THE SPARE TIRE ALSO BLEW FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR. MY HUSBAND LEFT BEFORE THE GAS TANK BLEW IF IT DID WE DON'T KNOW. WE HAD TO WALK 15 MILES SOAKING WET . WE ARE BOTH DISABLED WITH NECK AND BACK INJURIES. THIS JEEP IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE. I WOULD LIKE TO REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION. WHAT WORRIES US IS THAT HAD SOMEONE BEEN CONFINED BY WHEEL CHAIR OR CHILDREN IN A CAR SEAT THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY ACCIDENT.

THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO BURDICK CHRYSLER JEEP IN CICERO, NY WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED & THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE/REPAIR THE VEHICLE & SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT.WHILE TRAVELING ON FEB 5 I EXPERIENCED AN ISSUE WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL NOT 'STAYING' WHERE IT WAS SET- CONTINUING TO ACCELERATE,THEN INSTEAD ABOUT 1/2 WAY TO OUR DESTINATION, I STARTED TO EXPERIENCE RANDOM ISSUES SUCH AS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE BEHAVING AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL.
