Excessive Oil consumption. Refusal of dealer to honor manufacturer service bulletin.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The engine is consuming excessive amount of oil. Specifically, I had an oil change in December 2024 and now in March 2025 I had to add to add 2 quarts and it's just been 3 months and under 1000 miles since the last oil change. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The low oil cause the car to stall sometimes when in a curve and also displays warning on dash to put car in park and restart engine. This is very dangers as we sometimes get stuck in the middle of the road until the car is restarted. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I have taken it to the Jeep dealership about 2 years ago for this issue, but they claimed it's normal to have to add oil in between oil changes. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? A warning lamp comes on while driving that says to put the car in park and restart the engine. This issue has been occurring on a daily basis. From my research online, it appears this is a known issue with these engines and should have a recall.

Driving on the highway car was starting to loose speed, lights on dash starting to flash I was able to pull off on the side of the road, car stalled and steering wheel locked up. After several minutes it turned on and drove away fine. This is not the first time this has happened. Did oil consumption test several times and stated I’m in the safe zone. This is a severe safety issue but no recalls for my VIN. I saw lots of cars have this same issue with engine stalling.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 55 MPH the vehicle started losing automotive power. The contact attempted to depress the accelerator several times; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact parked the vehicle on the side of the highway and used a diagnostic tool to diagnose the vehicle. The contact retrieved DTC: U1428 and D2171. The vehicle was restarted, and the contact was able to continue driving. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,192.

I am pouring a QT of oil in this jeep every other week. THIS IS NOT NORMAL! I have had the oil consumption test done 3 times. Each time the dealer tells me that losing this much oil is within guidlines. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. THIS IS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A VEHICLE. RECALL THIS!!! Ongoing for 2 years now.

My Skylight has never worked properly since we bought my 2018 jeep renegade . It worked very slowly closing in the beginning so they lubricanted it and it worked for maybe a year before it started not fully opening before closing then fully opening and not closing .. Again I was told a lubrication issue But when I confronted that they just done the lubricant last year, they now say the only fix is to totally replace the entire skylight at ungodly cost to me not them.. That’s ridiculous.. I have read so many other owners that are having the same issue and the fact that they have found that there are parts to repair this problem but no one want to do so being the dealership just want to replace the entire skylight after they charge you ungodly cost to tell you they can’t fix it just replace it.. What will it take for Jeep to step up and do these repairs for its owners .. I love my jeep Renegade and hate to have a skylight I paid more to have not work .. I’ve owned my Renegade since June 2019 a gift from my husband. But knowing we paid for something we can’t use without added expenses that they can’t guarantee and want guarantee because they are replacing the entire skylight with another skylight that has the same problem .. I get it.. But we are just asking for Jeep to make repairs to the problem that they are well aware of for years now so we who own and love our Renegade can completely enjoy all the features we paid for..

My 2018 Jeep Renegade was manufactured in 2017..There is a recall on high oil consumption for this car.My car has burned oil since it was bought l every 3 months I bring it in to dealership and it is completely empty. It has stalled right in the middlle of traffic and shut off. As the car has gone up in miles the issue seems to be getting worse. I now run out every two months and there seems to be leading to other issues with the car. I have brought it in to the dealership and called Jeep to no avail. Obviously I have the same issues as the other Jeep renegades with the 2.4 engine and same years l. I do not I understand why a recall on my vin has not been put in l. I have spent alot of.money with all the extra oil and maintenance that's had to be been since the beginning. I feel this car will not last because of this issue through no fault but my own bit from a manufacturing error

Owned since new, the vehicle has 19000 miles on it and the factory head unit is mostly delaminated. Will randomly go into and change vehicle settings or otherwise self modify stations/input while driving. This can be very dangerous depending on what it does without human input. This is a very common problem, unsure why there is not a recall for this.

The screen for the radio presents several vertical lines of discoloration before the screen goes completely black. There is no way to return the screen's display until you turn your car off, let it rest for a while, and start again - even then the display quickly reverts to unusable condition. This affects safety as this is the only way to use the backup camera and is the sole control center for many of the vehicle's functions. This appears to be a widespread issue, and the dealer is charging astronomical amounts for the repair of this defect.

About a month ago, I started noticing that my radio was making strange beeping sounds. Of course I’ve got the display, and I immediately noticed that those beeps were being caused by, what looked like an invisible person touching my screen. At first, it just was a nuisance, but quickly escalated to a radio and display screen that is completely unusable. . It didn’t matter whether my phone was Bluetoothed to it or not, it’s a complete mess and won’t stay anywhere for more than a second. Today It interferes with my rear facing camera, not allowing you to turn on Sometimes it does not even come on. I’ve been reading that a lot of Jeep Renegade owners in this 2018 time period are having this problem and, in my opinion, this should be a recall item. Absolutely because to fix it. “go from $1500-$2500.

The contact stated that the AC/Heating System, defroster, Bluetooth, and several other systems occasionally activated without driver intent. The dealer was informed of the failures; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,202.

The information screen, which displays the backup camera and everything else that the car does, from radio to climate control, glitches and then goes black. From what I’ve seen on the internet, this is a widespread problem and, since it deals with the backup camera, is directly safety related.

The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that after his daughter had driven the vehicle, parked, and powered off, 7 hours later, the interior passenger side panel of the door was engulfed in flames, which had by that time blackened the glass. The driver's boyfriend witnessed the flames originating from the glove compartment and attempted to extinguish the fire by hand, which failed but resulted in him sustaining injury to his right hand. The boyfriend was eventually able to extinguish the flames by disconnecting the battery. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard but had yet to be deemed a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. A fire report was not filed. A police report was not filed, but injuries were reported. The driver's boyfriend later transported himself to an area hospital and was treated for minor burns to his right hand. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was informed that the manufacturer intended to send an investigator to inspect the vehicle at the tow yard. The contact was later informed that a manufacturing defect was not deemed the cause of the fire and that he would receive no further assistance. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Truck sputter to start or does not start at all. When I put fuel in my car it doesn't start for two days. Mechanic believes it's fuel system but couldn't be sure since there weren't any codes throwing from his diagnostic machine

• The fuel pump failed. Yes it's available for inspection • I was driving on a very busy road going about 55mph and the car stalled. I was able to coast to the shoulder of the road to avoid being rear-ended. This put my life at risk along with the other drivers if I was not able to safely get to the side of the road. • I am not able to reproduce the issue as my vehicle will not start after the incident. It has not been confirmed yet by another party as it just happened this morning. • It has not been inspected yet. • There were not warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the vehicle dying. I was driving this morning (6/4/2024), going up a slight incline going about 55mph and the fuel pump stopped working and my engine cut off off in the middle of traffic.

We were driving on the [XXX] in Nj when the car jerked and turned off without warning in the middle of 60 mph traffic. We had to be towed and were told it was the fuel pump. Just had the engine replaced for the oil consumption done in 2022. They did not replace the motor mounts at that point. But now they are saying those are leaking and my fuel pump has also gone out.

Engine is the big problem. When I drive the engine randomly shuts off without any warning. I’ve been on the freeway when it shuts down and I don’t have enough time to get over to safety. And I fear for my life every time it happens. It’s a safety hazard for others around me as well because my car stops without warning and others are going full speed around me. We have taken it do the dealership, service center, auto shops and no one has an answer or solution for us. We took it to the jeep service center and they didn’t know what was going on. Other than that we haven’t taken it to a manufacturer. There were so symptoms or warnings before this was happening.

The check engine light comes on. The code reads P219A. Which means there's an air to fuel ratio off. It sounds like it's gonna stall.

My husband was driving our Jeep today and it just stopped two times without any warning. Once while just going down our driveway (about 1000 feet from our home) and the second times was while he was in town going around a round about intersection. He was able to pull over and the Jeep started right back up but it could have been a lot worse if he would have been in traffic or driving 65+ MPH.

My Jeep has incredibly high oil consumption. I am putting a quart of oil in every two weeks even after an oil change. My car also stalls intermittently, it has even turned completely off on the freeway. The electrical in my car goes in and out and my display for my radio is completely blacked out.

when going in reverse the camera on the screen is either blank with the words at the bottom or have a distorted video. When in idle fans will constantly run when fluids are good, engine will do a rough idle, shut off! but will start back up

I was made aware that my car has a recall alert. It is a W20 recall, the PCM needs reprogrammed. I contacted Krebs Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM and was told the first available appointment is on May 31, 2023. I requested a loaner car that I could use until the recall problem was resolved. I stated my car stalled twice on a major highway and that I was currently pulled over in a parking lot. My request for a loaner car was denied as was my request to be towed the 2.4 miles to Krebs Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM without charge. I was informed that the reason behind these denials was that my car is “drivable.” Driving this car as is puts me and the rest of the drivers on the road in extreme jeopardy, possibly even of a life threatening situation.

Before the first oil change was due on my vehicle, the engine stalled. I took it to the nearest mechanic shop where I learned that all of the oil had been burned. I later learned that these models are notorious for this issue. My engine has stalled on me more times than I can count. Chrysler refuses to acknowledge the oil consumption problem after their 1500-1700 miles driven "tests". I have requested several times that they check oil levels between 2000-4000 miles driven as that is where the problem lies. They have ignored all requests. After sending emails to CEO's of mother companies and daughter companies, they are finally going to replace the long block on my engine. I have been fighting these issues for many years to no avail. They refuse to provide a loaner vehicle while this is being done. My car has stopped on me while driving. This is going to result is deaths if someone doesn't hold them accountable for a problem they are well aware of! This is not the only issue my vehicle has. There are several electrical issues as well.

I was driving in traffic and it was bumper to bumper. I had to keep going into first, move a little then stop for several miles. Coming out of the [XXX], heading up the hill, I started to smell burning, the clutch then pinned to the floor and I was stuck in first gear, and the vehicle shut off, not overheating warning, nothing. I was able to start the vehicle after a few moments and then got it t the shoulder, had it towed and I was told the clutch pressure plate was fractured and a whole new transmission would need installed if the flywheel isn't damaged. It wont be serviced until March 28th or 29th and then I will know if a $2500 dollar fix turns into a $5000.00 dollar fix. 54 thousand miles on this and it drove fine in traffic like this before and had no issues with it shifting or anything until this day. They say there is a recall on the Renegade specifically NHTSA20V-124 involving renegades with 6 speed manual transmissions. I couldn't get any help from Chrysler, the recall information center but this information is out on the web. Next is lemon law attorney. My Jeep has stalled while driving 3 times. It has been happening about once each year. The center console no long works. The screen just turned off one day and has never turned back on. Now it will not start. At first the dash turned on with all lights, would not start would not turn off break locked. Then the dash started flashing and the slowly diming until it no longer work. Then the RPM and MPH startes going up and down then the car died off. There is a recall for Jeep renegade that seems to reflect what it happening but the vin search states no recalls. I now only now don't have a car that I'm still paying on but someone could have been hurt. When this initially started I did check for recalls, and as I just did again. I can't get it anywhere to be looked at.

This has occurred 3 times in last 10 days. While making a right turn at about 15 miles per hour the D light starts flashing, a dash message flashes that the car must be in park to shift gears, and the car stalls to roll to complete stop with 100-150 feet. It takes a moment to get the car started up again. This is scary as someone turning the corner behind me could slam into me. Luckily this was after rush hour and traffic was light. Called dealership and they have no record of this recall. 48,000 miles on 2018 jeep renegade.

The dealer cleaned the throttle bottle and fuel injection system, removed the connector, and repositioned the seal to allow proper connection. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED REPAIRED AS OF YET. UPON INVESTIGATION THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V524000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. Started from Feb 2022 till April 2022 I had 3 time lights came up and car stopped on the road while I was driving. The first time was low oil pressure came on, and second and third time were both about engine service light on. so it happened once a month with about 1000 mileage driving. I was almost hit by the car behind of me coz the car stopped suddenly while I was driving. this really caused my concern about my safety. Dealer couldn't help me more about it except keep monitoring the oil consumption. they told me the car with 2.4L V4 engine has this issue. I found out the same issue also happened to the other Jeep consumers and they have been involved in law suit. I need to file this complaint so could get someone's attention on this, Chrysler need to fix this engine design issue ASAP to save lifes.

Vehicle randomly shuts off/stalls while driving. Has happened on the highway at highway speeds, trying to pass another vehicle or simply while barely accelerating to merge. First few times transmission warning light came on, then change oil light came on. Last few times, engine just simply shuts off, speedometer slowly declines and there is no power. Pull over to shoulder, then message says vehicle must be in park before shifting to another gear, then says push brake pedal & push start. This happened several times while out of state, on vacation. Took it to the nearest dealership after having to spend extra money on a hotel room for 2 nights that I did not plan for, because this happened the evening before a holiday so I had to wait the extra day for the dealership to open. They found a code on the transmission, and also the fluid was a quart low. they cleared the code, filled the fluid, and I also had them change the oil as a precaution. Left the dealership, drove approximately 150 miles, and vehicle shut down on interstate again, 3 more times. Had to spend another night in a hotel, the closest dealership said couldn't look at vehicle until following week, so I drove back to the previous dealership where they couldn't find anything or couldn't duplicate the issue. Next day they found debris in pan so said Chrysler said to change transmission. Had to leave vehicle in Colorado, got rental to return home. Picked up vehicle 10 days later, driving home, vehicle did same thing again, 3 times. Drove remaining way home slowly, with breaks every 50-75 miles so issue wouldn't keep happening, vehicle is currently at local dealership and they (once again) cannot duplicate issue or find anything wrong. This is obviously an issue, I've seen several complaints about the stalling/shutting down. This is dangerous, as it happens on the interstate and could cause serious injury or death. Fiat/Chrysler does not seem to be concerned about that.

PURCHASED VEHICLE JULY 2019. TODAY I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND THE D LIGHT STARTED BLINKING AND THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. I WAS ON A HWY RD WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC. IT TOOK A COUPLE TRIES AND THE CAR FINALLY STARTED BACK UP. I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAS A MOTOR THAT HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH OIL ISSUES AND JEEP NOT FIXING IT, THEY'RE JUST TELLING THE CONSUMER TO JUST KEEP PUTTING OIL IN IT. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE CONSIDERING HOW MUCH I PAY A MONTH. THESE MOTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. I PUT MY VIN NUMBER IN AND IT SAYS NO RECALLS. THERE NEEDS TO BE ONE ASAP. NOW THAT M SCARED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE.

A COUPLE OF TIMES MY JEEP RENEGADE 2018 STALLED WHEN I WAS DRIVING, SAID SOMETHING ABOUT LOW OIL PRESSURE WHEN I ALREADY DID AN OIL CHANGE, ALSO SAID ON THE DASH THAT THE GEAR SHIFT WASN'T WORKING AND SLOW DOWN AND STOP, I COULDN'T IMAGINE IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY THAT WOULD'VE BEEN A BAD ACCIDENT. I SAFELY PARKED, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND STARTED BACK UP. TOOK IT LAST YEAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT WAS A SAFETY THING AND THIS YEAR OCTOBER 30TH 2020, I TOOK IT TO CHECK WHY IT KEPT SAYING LOW OIL PRESSURE WHEN THE OIL IS NEW AND I WANTED TO KNOW IF WAS LEAKING. THEY SAID WASN'T LEAKING, THAT IT WAS BURNING OIL. THAT SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING THAT THE OIL IS NEW AND LESS THAN A MONTH IT SAYS LOW OIL PRESSURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ATLANTA WEST CHRYSLER DODGE LOCATED AT 1251 THORNTON RD, LITHIA SPRINGS, GA 30122, WHERE THE MECHANIC FLASHED THE PCM AND TCM DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILURES HOWEVER, THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.

The UConnect / touch screen display is constantly glitching- I can’t see anything other than striped lines and colors and/or a pitch black screen. I cannot use the rearview camera because of this, which creates a safety concern when backing up/reversing due to limited visibility without the rear view camera function. This problem has occurred with many other owners of the same vehicle (see posts online). The vehicle hasn’t been inspected but others had theirs inspected and claimed they were quoted $1,500+ for the screen repair, and even after repair, the screen malfunctioned again in a few weeks. The first sign of the issue was when I saw a thin, vertical green line through my touch screen, but it didn’t affect the visibility or usability of the screen so I thought nothing of it.

Unknown. Bought a 2018 Jeep Renegade, brand new and about 4-5 months ago, the screen started glitching. Sometimes, it only shows 1/3 of the screen, and there is a constant beeping as the screen switches between apps and stations. In other words, the screen is faulty, and it sometimes affects the reading of the digital speedometer. My car has only about 84k miles. I understand many others are experiencing similar issues with their 2018 Jeep Renegade.

Stereo Head Unit screen went black. It started "glitchy" with streaks but eventually went black. No use of the rear back up camera or any functions on the head unit... climate control, radio, setting, etc. I have seen online that this is common and I do not think it is right for a consumer to spend well over a 1000 to replace it. This is not a "wear" part. Disapointed in the quality of components in my Renegade.

The touch screen has been an issue It does not come on. It his controls the heated steering wheel and cannot be shut off which then over eats and makes it impossible to touch. The screen controls the heated seats and the heat in general.

Original U Connect system screen delamination! This is a big problem for many users on jeep models 2018! Because of this the system makes random calls from my contacts well I’m driving! I am driving 30 miles a day on the highway and this is becoming a safety issue! Like me many people are waiting for a recall but nothing is coming since 2018!!! Very dangerous when I am driving with my GPS on and the radio calls people randomly and I have to hangs up on people every 5 seconds and then my contacts call me back and have to explain my situation! This is unacceptable! Please help us

I bough this car in February with no knowledge of the prior lawsuit on these cars randomly stalling. The past month- my car has stalled multiple times, in the middle of the road and I lose all control. It is such a safety hazard because people will literally almost hit me. I have to hurry up and turn on the flashers and pull over and restart and try again. There is no warnings for this and once it stalls- the steering wheel locks as well! I thought it was bad gas but after doing all kinds of research , there was 2 previous recalls on this car for the same issue! If it was fixed, why is it still doing this? Now I’m in a contract for this car and can’t afford to take a hit to my credit but it literally scares me to drive it! Check engine light initially came on but since has disappeared. I have recorded my car doing this and honestly have just let it sit because I cannot afford a mechanical bill right now.

Every 2 days I'm adding a cord of oil to my engine. It started off. I would have to add a quart or two in between my oil changes and this thing is running unbelievably bad. Everything's failing on it now. It's leaking oil out of somewhere from the block. The manifolds leaking has been since day one and a thing runs so hot. It's unreal, it doesn't accelerate and then it tries to accelerate by itself. It bucks it decelerates and jumps gears

I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE ISSUE, BUT IT SEEMS, BASE ON OTHER OWNERS REPORT'S THAT THE PROBLEM IS CAUSED BY A FAILURE IN THE ENGINE FUEL PUMP AND/OR VOLTAGE REGULATOR WHICH IT MAKES SENSE. Coolant in reservoir has been overheating since replacement of o-ring on pressure cap. I have take the car to the mechanic twice to find the solutions as to what could be causing this issue. The first time I was told it was not my radiator because I thought I had suffered damage to it from an accident a couple of years ago, and the second time they have flushed the system and told me there were no signs of leakage in the system. I have even speculated it could be the thermostat housing, so I got that replaced as well, but to no avail.

APPARENTLY, THE OIL PRESSURE GETS LOW B/C THE ENGINE(2.4) USES ALL OF THE OIL WITHIN OR LESS THAN 2 MONTHS TIME AFTER AN OIL CHANGE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS 2.4 ENGINE, AS OF 12/10/20 I AM TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP, BUT ONLY ON RENEGADES THAT HAVE ALL WHEEL DRIVE AND NOT FRONT WHEEL DRIVE SUCH AS MINE. NOT SURE WHAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO DO WITH A BADLY DESIGNED MOTOR(A REP AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WAS A POORLY DESIGNED ENGINE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO USE SOME OIL); HOWEVER, THIS ENGINE SUCKS THE OIL DRY IN UNDER 2 MONTHS TIME THUS MAKING THE MOTOR DIE/STALL WHILE DRIVING. I ORDERED SOME FOOD AND DROVE TO EXIT OF THE PARKING LOT AND THE CAR STALLED COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CAR DIDN'T FLASH ANY LIGHTS. WHEN I WOULD PRESS THE GAS THE CAR ENGINE WOULD GET VERY BUMPY DESPITE NOT MOVING FORWARD. I FINALLY PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT WILLINGLY MOVED BACKWARDS WITHOUT HESITATION. HOWEVER, WHEN PUT IN DRIVE AGAIN, THE D ON THE GEAR SELECTOR WOULD FLASH AND I WOULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AGAIN. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND HAD SOMEONE PUSH ME OUT OF THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. My car shut down and will not restart in High altitudes. This has been on ongoing issue since I purchased it in 2019. The car will sputter and feel like it has no power, then die. When I go to restart, it will not start. We have almost been hit by traffic several times because of this issue. Seems to only happen in high altitude. We live in the mountains, so we climb elevation quite a bit.

WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND CURRENTLY IT HAS 29,000 MILES. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED UNDER WARRANTY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT IT FOR OVER A WEEK BEFORE THEY WERE ABLE TO LOOK AT IT. I INQUIRED ABOUT GETTING A LOANER VEHICLE SINCE WE WERE DOWN A VEHICLE AND THE DEALER SAID ALL THEIR LOANERS WERE OUT AND THEY WILL ONLY ALLOW US TO HAVE THE LOANER FOR 5 DAYS TOTAL. SO, THEY SAID THEY WOULD CONTACT US WHEN THEY HAD A LOANER AVAILABLE. WE NEVER HEARD BACK FROM THEM, SO MY HUSBAND CALLED THEM BACK 8 DAYS LATER TO INQUIRE ABOUT A LOANER AGAIN, AND AT THAT TIME THEY SAID THE VEHICLE WAS READY; ALL IT NEEDED WAS OIL. BRIAN CALLED ME ON JANUARY 29, 2019 AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD BE DOING A WARRANTY REPAIR ON THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. BRIAN ALSO ADVISED OUR SON THAT THE JEEP HAD TO BE TOWED WHILE PARKED ON THE SHELOR LOT BECAUSE OF THE BRAKE ISSUE, SO IT IS FORTUNATE THAT OUR SON MADE IT FROM BLACKSBURG TO CHRISTIANSBURG, VA WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. OUR SON PICKED UP THE JEEP ON JANUARY 30, 2019. HOWEVER, WHEN DRIVING THE CAR BACK TO HIS APARTMENT, THE SAME "HILL START ASSIST" LIGHT CAME ON AND SO THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE AGAIN. (THIS IS THE 3RD SAFETY INCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE IN 3 MONTHS. - ONE RELATED TO A FIRE AND THE SECOND AND THIRD DUE TO BRAKE ISSUES.) BRIAN SENT A TOW TRUCK ON JANUARY 31, 2109 TO BRING THE JEEP BACK TO SHELOR. I ALSO SENT AN EMAIL FROM THE JEEP WEBSITE TO THE FCA USA CUSTOMER CARE CENTER ON JANUARY 31, 2019 ' CLAIM NUMBER 57935124. SINCE THEN, I HAVE ALSO SPOKEN SEVERAL TIMES WITH STEVE STANDER IN THE FCA CORPORATE OFFICE IN WARREN, MI. ON FEBRUARY 4, 2019, BRIAN ADVISED ME THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED, AS THIS IS THOUGHT TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE RECURRING BRAKE PROBLEM. THE CAR SUPPOSEDLY IS NOW REPAIRED AS OF 2/7/19 BUT WE WILL FIND OUT IF IT THIS IS THE CASE WHEN MY SON PICKS IT UP IN A DAY OR SO.

I just bought a 2018 jeep Renegade 4 month ago Carmax, so far 6 times, the engine. Just shuts off, last time my wife going on the freeway. I'm afraid that someone may get killed. Is they anything you can do to help is there a recall. We bought extended warrenty. Or is the car a lemon

The automobile will shut off during driving. On three separate occasions while driving the automobile has lost all drivability. The first occasion I was leaving work (01/02/2025) and as I went to accelerate on to the road from a dead stop, the engine shut off. I had to place the car back in park and depress the brake to start the engine again (by depressing the start engine button). The second occasion happened as I was entering the expressway (01/07/2025). I was turning off the main road onto the onramp of the expressway when the engine shut off again. This time I was accelerating up to around 40 mph when the engine shut off. Luckily, I was able to coast to a stop in the emergency lane. The steering locked up due to the engine shut down so I was not able to restart the car until putting it back in park to start the whole start sequence. The third occasion happened today (01/16/2025) as I was leaving school. I was leaving the parking lot when I went to accelerate from a stop the engine shut off again.

The vehicle has stopped running while driving. It turns off and the gas gauge will show E (there is a full tank) and the battery will die- it is brand new and it was tested when this happened. The codes are saying it’s the PCM- it hasn’t ran properly without a jump in months. And it will idol super high, over heat and scare everyone in the car. Had it towed and checked AGAIN. And everything was fine. (Note that the entire engine was replaced the year I got it by my dealership for the recall on the engine going through all oil in less than a month) I know I am not the only person who had had this issue with this specific vehicle. I’m still paying on it!! I have children to Think about. And at 700+$ payment monthly I shouldn’t have this issue. This vehicle has been nothing but trouble and the dealership gives me a hard time when I’ve called for help with it. The warranty ran up that I paid extra for. Isn’t that ironic.

WHILE ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE STALED. I WAS SCARY I BOUGHT MY JEEP AND IT ONLY HAS 8000 MILES ON IT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK THEN DRIVE IT DID NOT MOVE. I PUSHED OFF THE ROAD. TURNED THE ENGINE OFF THEN RESTARTED IT, AND IT DROVE FINE. I AM STILL NERVOUS DRIVING MY RENEGADE, IT MAY HAPPEN AGAIN.

The rear windshield wiper hose is known to leak in these due to a poor design choice. The entire contents of the windshield washer fluid reservoir empties into the passenger compartment (typically into the rear passenger floorboard). Not only is the fluid being near the passengers a concern, but the reservoir drains completely in a matter of hours. In a snowy environment, you are now unable to clear salt spray crust from the windshield, greatly reducing visibility. I had my mechanic verify this today, and there are countless reports online of people having this issue. The dealer will "fix" it, but they replace things with the same substandard parts that are prone to failure. The dealer needs to have a more permanent fix that uses an actual hose, rather than a plastic carrier that breaks easily.

The windshield is plagued by millions of dense specks that significantly impair visibility, especially when a light source is shone at it. This presents a significant safety hazard while driving, as it makes it difficult to see the road and the traffic clearly. So far the component hasn’t been inspected, but making a quick search on the internet revealed that there is plenty on unsolved situations like this one with similar vehicles.

Engine stalled (lost power) while driving on the interstate during rush hour traffic. I had to pull into emergency lane. This happened 3 times within an hour or so. We almost wrecked the car. Very scary and dangerous situation. I checked and there are no recalls with my VIN number. I’m not sure what to do now

When it is raining, the vehicle shuts down and service warning lights come on. The Service Engine, Service Transmission, Service Hill Assist, Service Parking Break lights come on. The vehicle will start, but won't go into drive and no fuel flows into the engine to give enough power to move. After about 30 minutes, the vehicle might run, but it will shift very hard and the Transmission won't fully engage. After 45 minutes, all the warning lights go off, except for the check engine light, and the car is driveable. This ONLY happens in the rain or after a car wash.

I have had 4 incidents now where I made a right hand turn and the car stalled in the middle of the road. Turned the engine off, attempted to restart. The engine would try to fire, but would take several tries, then would start roughly. Then would run fine.

Vehicle suddenly powers down with no warning lights. This happened in traffic. Upon pulling over, turning off and restarting the vehicle, it was fine. It happened again a half hour later. Dealership could not identify the problem. Car was fine for more than a week, then happened again. It seems to be a common problem per internet search for this model.

While going down the highway, the jeep shut down/locked up. The engine was still running, but wouldn't let me turn it off or run anything electrical. Every service light possible came on. In order to get it to turn off, we had to turn off the computer. After that, it had no power whatsoever. The key light was showing. Luckily, I was able to pull over before getting hit. I had both of my kids in the car. I've seen where other people have had this happen. Why has it not been recalled. We're still waiting to find out what the issue is but the mechanic shop is behind due to workers being out with Covid.

SINCE 21000 MILES (FIRST INSTENCE) WE HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE CAR SHUTTING OFF , AND LOSING ALL POWER TO THE GAS AND BREAK, ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK. I WAS TURNING LEFT AND THE ENGINE SPUTRERED, THEN AS THE WHEEL STRAIGHTENED UP IT COMPLETELY LOUSY ALL GAS, AND BREAK FUNCTION AS IF IT WAS NOT IDLING. ABOUT EVERY 3-4 WEEKS AFTER IT WOULD STALL, BUT NOT LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL. WE STARTED TO NOTICE IT WAS USING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL, AFTER ACKNOWLEDGING FIRST COUPLE ISSUES. WE ARE CURRENTLY HAVING IT LOOKED AT, AS THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WOULD NOT ALLOW US TO START THE ENGINE AT ALL, WE ARE CURRENTLY AT 30,000 MILES. CAR IS 1.5 YEARS OLD , PROBLEMS AROSE 5 MONTHS AGO.

THE FOLLOWING DAY, VEHICLE DRIVES AS IF PUTTING IN GAS WHILE IN PARK, BUT IS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE ALONG WITH STOPPING AND GOING WHILE ACCELERATING. NOW, THE VEHICLE CANNOT ACCELERATE PAST 15 MPH, AND STILL HOLD THE PROBLEMS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED.

PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW FROM DEALER STOCK IN PATCHOGUE, NY, WITH TRAILHAWK TRIM. HAD IT A LITTLE OVER A MONTH, AND HAVE LESS THAN 1000 MILES ON IT. WITHIN THE 1ST WEEK THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE IT EVEN THOUGH IT HAD A WAVE IN IT AT EYE LEVEL. HAVE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE. AT SAME TIME, WE NOTICED A PROBLEM WITH CLIMATE CONTROL AND DEALER COULDN'T GET US IN TO LOOK AT IT FOR ABOUT A MONTH. WHAT HAPPENS IS AFTER THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND TEMP IS LEFT AT SAY 72 IN ALL ZONES, OFTEN WHEN YOU RESTART THE VEHICLE LATER OR THE NEXT DAY IT IS NO LONGER SET TO 72 AND MAY BE BLASTING SUPERHOT AIR AT 90 OR JUMP TO LOW AC OR ANYTHING IN BETWEEN. ITS A COMPLETELY RANDOM TEMPERATURE HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH OUTSIDE AIR TEMP. ALSO, DOESN'T HAPPEN WITH EVERY RESTART. DEALER SERVICE MANAGER SAYS THIS IS "JUST HOW JEEP MANUFACTURED IT", AND "THE JEEP ENGINEERS DELIBERATELY WANT THE TEMPERATURE TO BE RANDOM BECAUSE ITS NOT A PRIORITY". Since I’ve owned the car. When we go above 70 on highways with cruise control and a/c on the car will randomly turn off and the speedometer will say I am going 0 miles an hour. This has happened 5 times, everytime we go on vacation. And everytime the dealership states they can not mimic the symptoms. So it never gets fixed. Read about a power trans chip that’s faulty. Should be my vehicle included in that problem.

THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,700.

MY NEW VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED WITHOUT A SPARE TIRE. THERE IS ONLY A FIX A FLAT KIT. A FIX A FLAT KIT WILL NOT "FIX" A SEVERELY DAMAGED TIRE. I'M TOLD I CAN BUY A SPARE TIRE KIT FOR EXTRA MONEY. SPARE TIRES SHOULD BE REQUIRED BY LAW ON EVERY NEW CAR.

Driver side rear tail light assembly ground wire burned up and caused the tail light assembly to stop working. Replaced tail light assembly and wiring harness. This is a common failure on the jeep renegades and should be recalled due to safety.

The rear tail light, backup light, and blinker have simultaneously quit working. After inspecting further, the connection from the electrical wiring has burned the ground connection on the rear lamp housing. The ground wire also looks to be burned.

After purchasing a new battery due to multiple issues with a drained battery, when trying to jump the new battery the jeep would not take a jump. The lights came on and indicated multiple issues and the steering wheel became immovable. The jeep will not start and each time if left hooked up will drain fully charged battery.

THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN PLACED ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT SOMEONE FROM THE CHRYSLER CARE MANAGEMENT TEAM WOULD CONTACT HER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64.

I went to get a light fixed (Driver Side fog light) and the bulb had blown up and completely melted the housing. I searched the internet and it is on the Jeep site as extremely common. I just purchased this car. I can't afford $650 to fix the melted housing. The guy that tried to change it at the shop said it was a complaint he has heard before.

The entire lamp needs replaced for the front passenger running light. Continues to blow lights and sockets. Estimated cost to fix is $600 and is NOT covered by factory warranty or most extended warranties. I see this issue with MANY jeep son the road. Car will alert driver that running light is out, replace light, will blow new light within hours. Replace socket - will blow new socket. Car will also alert driver that other lights are out on the vehicle EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT. This speaks to a possible, more serious, wiring issue. Lights exist on a car FOR A REASON. I should not be paying to fix shoddy workmanship BY JEEP. Please, investigate how many Jeep Renegades have come in with this issue or similar. I was told by my mechanic that many Renegades have such poor light wiring that beating on the lights a few times will "maybe make them come back on". YES, my dealership looked at the car and told me the entire lamp needs replaced for $600. Not covered by any warranties, but broken no fault of my own. This is not a wear and tear issue. This is a lighting and wiring issue which is UNSAFE. Yes there were warning messages, but some are false and some are true! I received warning that my plate light was out, when it is not. This running light issue IS a known problem with jeep renegades. PLEASE INVESTIGATE FURHTER. This has been an ongoing issue since I certified pre-owned purchased the car with 5,000 miles on it. The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while attempting to reverse out of the driveway at approximately 5 MPH, the rear-view camera failed to properly operate. The contact stated that the screen was blue and then turned black. The contact stated afterward only half of the screen was displaying an image. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired because the vehicle was not under recall. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The rear view camera was glitchy for a few years until finally becoming completely disabled due to the car play system malfunctioning. I have blind spots on each side of the back of my car that do not allow me to check for oncoming traffic when backing out. This also includes looking out for pedestrians. It has come to my attention that this may be a manufacturing issue as multiple clients have complained about similar issues.

the turbocharger went out at 75k. had it replaced just after the #2 cylinder went bad. vehicle is unable to get to highway speeds and is very slow to accelerate. it is not due for an oil change for another 5k miles.

I PURCHASED A 2018 JEEP RENEGADE AT THE END OF JULY 2018, IT HAD WORKED WELL UNTIL THE END OF JUNE 2019. I WAS ON A ROAD TRIP FROM SOUTH CAROLINA TO COLORADO AND I WAS ON THE ROAD FOR A WEEK WITH NO ISSUES, BUT ON JUNE 28TH AS I WAS DRIVING ON I-70 THROUGH KANSAS AT ABOUT 80 MPH WHEN MY ENGINE BEGAN TO STALL OUT. AT FIRST IT WAS DROPPING ABOUT 10 - 15 MPH, BUT THEN IT WAS QUICKLY DROPPING 30 - 40 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT INTO THE RIGHT MOST LANE, BUT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASHBOARD WHILE MY ENGINE STALLED OUT COMPLETELY. I HAD TO RESTART MY CAR A FEW TIMES, BUT AFTER A FEW RESTARTS THE NOTIFICATIONS DISAPPEARED. EVERY TIME THE ENGINE STALLED OUT, I WOULD LOSE THE USE OF MY GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS. THE ELECTRONICS WERE STILL WORKING, BUT DRIVING WAS NON-RESPONSIVE. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY NURSE MY CAR INTO THE NEAREST CITY AND EVENTUALLY GET TOWED TO THE NEAREST JEEP DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO LOOK AT THE JEEP THE NEXT DAY (JUNE 29TH) AND DID SOME COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS AND TOLD ME THAT THE JEEP WAS GOOD TO GO. I MADE IT ABOUT 180 MILES AND HAD JUST GOTTEN BACK ONTO I-70 IN COLORADO WHEN THE ISSUE RETURNED. ENGINE STALLED OUT, DROPPED SPEED TO ZERO MPH AND PEDALS BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. I HAD TO WAIT SEVERAL HOURS TO BE TOWED TO AURORA, CO TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP (LARRY H MILLER JEEP). MY JEEP WAS WITH LARRY H MILLER FROM JUNE 29TH TO JULY 3RD. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DROVE IT SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES, DESPITE MY ODOMETER NOT MATCHING THEIR INFORMATION, AND TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH MY JEEP. I MADE IT 10 MILES FROM THE DEALER BEFORE THE STALLING ISSUE RETURNED. THIS ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH ON A CONGESTED NARROW HIGHWAY IN DENVER, CO. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T HELP AND TO SEE ANOTHER DEALER. I WAS TOWED TO A THIRD DEALER, WHO WAS ALSO NOT ABLE TO FIND ANY ISSUE.

My Renegade fuel pump failed in a very unsafe manner without an engine light at only 42,000 miles, less than half the expected life of that component. I was driving on the highway and without warning I could no longer accelerate and I had plenty of fuel but no engine light came on and I had to glide to the right while cars were speeding around me before I reached 0mph. This is extremely dangerous and I'm finding it's very common in other models that aren't covered under the fuel pump recall for certain jeep renegades. My fuel pump was fixed and they said it was a common issue but I had no recourse to investigate beyond "it's not a recall". If this is happening to other Renegades not covered it will most definitely cause a serious crash as the engine is on but no acceleration.

CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP, DIAGNOSTIC DID NOT SHOW ANY ISSUES; I WAS TOLD THAT IT HAPPENED BECAUSE IT WAS HOT AND BECAUSE I DROVE IT MORE THAN 5 HOURS. JEEP IS STUCK 12 HRS FROM WHERE I LIVE AND THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. MANUFACTURER AND DEALERSHIP REFUSE TO GIVE ME A LOANER CAR.

U-Connect Radio Malfunction. Screen/Radio selects random things on radio options. Map on screen becomes unavailable or glitches. Almost cost me to miss my exits. UConnect Radio causes distracted driving putting myself and my passengers in danger. For example, sometimes the UConnect radio selects individuals on my contact list and places a call, so outgoing calls are made while I’m driving. The glue from the UConnect radio will start to drip and spread into other parts and cause them to malfunction. This can also cause malfunctions with steering and other vehicle functions. Theres also no point in me replacing the screen for something was faulty by the manufacturer. Yes it has been notified but they refuse to acknowledge the problem. No warning lamps just the screen kept glitching.

As we were headed onto the Interstate via the on ramp I-44 west in St. Robert MO we had the from passenger and driver side windows down and we heard a loud POP as the front tempered glass panel of our panoramic sunroof/moonrise shattered above us cutting my arm and back. Sunny day no vehicles in front or behind us to kick up a rock or anything. This is clearly a defect in the design of the 2018 panoramic glass panels as later models top glass have a different style and design.

The driver seat belt buckle malfunctioned, the clip will not stay in no matter what. The dealership said the part isn’t available anywhere and is on endless back order without an ETA. As well as they are unsure of what parts are needed as there is an electrical part they confused if it’s needed that is also unavailable anywhere. The jeep/chrysler company itself has also been no help, it has been 3 weeks. I keep getting told the same thing and to “be patient” and that this is not a safety recall, even though the part isn’t available anywhere. The dealership confirmed its malfunction. My safety/risk factor and ability to drive has now been severely impacted as It is illegal and dangerous to drive without a seatbelt, I have not been offered any help or coverage, and I have a newborn baby! There was no forewarning or symptoms of failure beforehand. This has been sudden and infuriating.

The entire radio system begins to get white ghost lines which affects the rear back-up camera and rear safety systems, and it also affects the parking brakes when the vehicle is in park or stopped. The use of the radio system is required to do basic maintenance on the vehicle such as brake changes.

The vehicles was initially taken for a service to the dealer when the contact was advise the vehicle had a recall and no failure was experienced. No warning light illuminated. The local dealer was contacted and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired under a recall. The contact stated that the failure persisted. Then was taken again to the dealer where the contact was informed the recall was still active and no documentation of repairs. The local dealer was contacted again and the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was repaired under a recall. The vehicle was taken again for service maintenance and was informed that the vehicle had only 3 quarts of oil and should have 5 quarts and there is no leaks on the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

My speedometer will change from MPH to KM on its own while i am driving. It will also keep changing back and forth making it a driver distraction. My dash screen is also going bad. I will definitely take it in for an inspection. I pulled into a rest area to assess what was going on with the electrical problem. There were not any warnings at all. It just happened so I have not informed anyone yet.

UNKNOWN Running lights and blinkers. Continually replace bulbs and either burn out black or just stop working. Possible wiring /electrical issues? Dashboard computer works at random. Ongoing for about a year. Last 3 months the dashboard lightning bolt light flashes along with the service engine light. it will lose power to move forward while in motion and at times loses steering power as well. Speed doesn't seem to matter. Can be going 65 mph or 25 mph and happens at random. Usually flashing bolt light disappears after vehicle is turned off and restarted but service engine light remains on for a few days but then disappears after that. Vehicle has been brought in to be repaired and diagnosed several times at different locations but since the warning lights on the dash disappear, the scan device doesn't detect an issue. Ongoing malfunction is potentially dangerous and very frightening despite how fast the vehicle is moving. Not sure how to move forward with resolution when nobody seems to find what is wrong with it? Money continually spent on trying to diagnose without resolution is frustrating and not knowing details puts others at risk as well. No active RECALLS and have not found or any prior RECALLS that would explain. Light issues are inconvenient but mentioned in the chance they are a component of the source of bigger issues that may include electrical , powertrain, etc.... *Dashboard warning lights along with loss of driving power has happened on multiple different occasions. in ADDITIONAL DETAILS BELOW I will record most current episode.

Engine stall. The first time it happened I was going about 35 mph down the street and the car quit accelerating. Engine still running all the lights on did not notice any warning lights. Coasted into a parking lot. Turned off car and restarted and drove 1/2 block home. Read online to start car in auxiliary mode three or five times. Did that and did not have a problem. About 3 or so weeks later, it happened on the highway and almost caused a wreck. Very scary! I got to the side of the road 3 times. Restarted and barely would start driving and it would happen again. Had car towed to dealership and started claim with Jeep. They can not duplicate the problem and find no codes. Other issues: passenger car entry warning, head module? Or display will call people randomly, change radio stations and the reverse camera will come on while I'm driving, needs new struts ( only drive highway and in town ), uneven tire wear, auto windshield wipers does not work. Slow to shift out of first gear and jolts car when it shifts. Been at dealership for 3 weeks +

The vehicle has randomly reset its electrical equipment by morning and has turned off while driving, which stiffened the steering wheel without warning. My safety and the safety of others were put at significant risk numerous times. The vehicle has randomly turned off while driving, causing the steering wheel to stiffen without any warning. This sudden loss of power and control in traffic is extremely dangerous and could easily lead to accidents. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by both a dealer and an independent service center. The dealers identified issues with the electrical system resetting and the engine turning off unexpectedly, but solutions have been inconsistent. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Yes, the vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer and the dealership. The manufacturer has been notified of these issues, and the dealership performed diagnostic tests, but the problem persists despite their interventions. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, there were no warning lamps or messages prior to the failures. The electrical system would reset by morning without any prior indication, and the vehicle would turn off while driving with no warning signs. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, a hissing sound would emit from the brake pedal as the pedal became firm and difficult to depress. In addition, the contact also stated that the steering wheel was loose while both idle and when steered. The dealer was notified of the failure and an appointment was made to have it serviced. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

While in park and the parking brake engaged, I then went to disengage my automatic parking brake, received a service automatic parking brake system and my brakes would not disengage. I could not move my car. After research this is a common problem with the automatic braking system. I could have been in a very dire situation where I needed to move my vehicle and I could not. It was very scary. I then had my car towed to the Jeep dealership on September 23, 2023 and they have yet to diagnose the issue. I did speak with a mechanic and he stated he has known of the issues and he thought there may be a recall issued. I can not find a recall but am in hopes that there will be one issued. As this is very unsafe especially if you’re in a situation where you need to get out of.

From the first few months we've had this car it will randomly stall out about 10 times over 5 years while driving on busy streets. We've taken it to a Chrysler dealership and were told it was fine, but that we should get more frequent oil changes. We don't drive this car much (5 years and only 24k miles).It is still doing this and I just checked articles on this model/year and there are both fuel pump UB2 and powertrain control recalls U87 that say they lead to stalling out. But they are not listed as being recalls on our vehicle. I called Chrysler tonight and they said these recalls aren't for our vehicle, only a random software update W20. The car has been taken to a Chrysler dealer a few times. It also had an issue where sometimes we couldn't pump gas (gas pumps wouldn't work) and read online there was a failure in some Jeep gas tanks that they were missing a hole. We looked and there was no visible hole. We took it to the Chrysler dealership and they told us that wasn't a real error and nothing was wrong but when it got it back there was a hole there and we have been able to pump gas since. So I'm not sure that we trust that dealership.

The Engine Overheat message was displayed and the coolant warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and also to an independent mechanic on separate occasions, where it was diagnosed with a blown head gasket due to coolant intrusion into the cylinders. The vehicle was then towed to Jim Burke Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (1409 5th Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203) where it was diagnosed that oil and coolant had mixed in the engine, causing damage to the radiator, engine, and thermostat. The Renegade touch screen radio that is used for all controls including seat warmers, climate control, rear back up camera, gps ect has had many cases of the factory issued radio screens delaminating causing it to make SOS emergency calls and switching through different touch screen controls due to the delamination of the radio screen at no fault of our own … Tolers Jeep in Morehead City NC has confirmed they have had to replace many radios due to this issue but hasn’t issued any recall for this safety issue on this model… I have now had to resort to keeping the radio turned off to avoid unwanted SOS calls to the local police department and malfunction of the touch screen controls

TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOOK PICTURES AND SENT TO CHRYSLER AND SAID THEY TOLD THEM MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT BUT THEY WOULDN'T FIX THEM. TOLD ME THAT IT LOOKED WORN FROM A FOREIGN OBJECT MOVING ACROSS THE SEAT. THIS WAS 3 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. THEY DRILLED A HOLE IN MY ARM REST TO MOUNT THE CAMERA TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE SEAT AND SAID THEY DRILLED IT A LITTLE TO BIG AND SORRY, DIDN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HOW TO FIX IT OR ANYTHING. II BOUGHT A 2018 JEEP RENEGADE WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN NOV 2018. IN JAN 2019 THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP 7 TIMES SINCE THEN FOR THEM TO FIX IT. THE 7TH TIME THEY HAD IT FOR 90 DAYS AND AFTER CONSULTING WITH JEEP ENGINEERS IN THE U.S. AND ITALY, WHERE IT IS MANUFACTURED, THEY HAVE CONCLUDED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENT FOR ALL THE PARTICULARS. WHAT IS NOT NOTED ARE THE OTHER FIXES THEY TRIED IN PRIOR VISITS, WHICH WAS TO REPLACE THE BUTTONS ON STEERING WHEEL, THE WIRING HARNESS, AND THE ACTUAL CRUISE CONTROL UNIT. SINCE THERE IS AN INTERNAL MEMORY FAULT WITH READING THE SPEED SENSOR, I FEEL THAT THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP ARE BOTH REFUSING TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK.

A FEW WEEKS AFTER I FIRST BOUGHT MY NEW CAR (JUNE 2018) AFTER STARTING IT, THE RADIO WOULD SOMETIMES NOT COME ON OR THE VOLUME CONTROL KNOB WOULD NOT WORK. THEN RECENTLY SEVERAL MONTHS AGO (APRIL 2020) THE 12V CIGARETTE LIGHTER IN MY CAR STOPPED WORKING (CAR IN PARK, JUST STARTED). TURNED CAR OFF, AND THEN IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. IT SEEMED LIKE ALL POWER WAS LOST TO THE CAR. NO LIGHTS WOULD COME ON INSIDE EITHER. IT JUST WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING AT ALL WHEN TRYING TO START IT. THE 15 FUSE WAS REPLACED IN THE DASH BOX, AND IT THEN STARTED FINE AGAIN. THAT LASTED FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. THEN A FEW WEEKS AGO NOW (8/8/20) MY CAR WOULDN'T START IN THE DRIVEWAY. AGAIN, NO POWER TO IT, NO LIGHTS OR ANYTHING. THE SAME FUSE WAS BLOWN, SO IT WAS REPLACED AGAIN. MY CAR STILL WOULDN'T START. I JUMPED IT OFF WITH JUMPER CABLES, IT STARTED FINE. I WAS DRIVING FOR LESS THAN 20 MINUTES (8/12/20), SOMEONE MOTIONED ME TO PULL OVER BECAUSE THEY SMELLED MY CAR BATTERY. LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD, AND MY BATTERY WAS LEAKING. I THEN HAD TO DRIVE MY CAR ANOTHER 5-10 MINUTES TO GET IT HOME. MADE IT HOME, AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START AGAIN. I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED WITH A BRAND NEW ONE (8/17/20), AND MY CAR STARTED FINE AGAIN. AS I MENTIONED, THAT WAS 2 WEEKS AGO. NOW TODAY (9/2/20), I STARTED MY CAR, DROVE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THEN IT JUST QUIT ACCELERATING AND WOULDN'T GO OVER 20MPH. I PULLED OVER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE FIRST TIME, TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND AGAIN IT NOW WON'T START BACK UP AT ALL. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DO STILL COME ON, BUT WHEN I HIT 'LOCK' ON MY KEY FOB, THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS FLASH WEIRDLY ON AND OFF MANY TIMES IN A ROW. I PURCHASED MY 2018 JEEP RENEGADE IN FEB OF 2019. I HAD UNDER 5K MILES ON IT AND TOOK IT ON MY FIRST ROAD TRIP. I MADE IT TO COLORADO AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST 12 TIMES. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING. I HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO 4 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND NO CODES OR ISSUES WERE FOUND. I DEALT WITH FCA WHICH WAS A NIGHTMARE, AND ALL THEY OFFERED WAS A FREE WARRANTY. I LET THEM KNOW I DONT FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES. I THEN TOOK MY VEHICLE ON THE FIRST ROAD TRIP THIS WEEKEND TO LUBBOCK AND ONCE AGAIN IT STALLED OUT 4 TIMES WHILE DRIVING 75 MPH. I DROPPED IT OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND NO ISSUES WERE FOUND AGAIN. THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUES YET MY VIN DOESN'T FIT THE RECALL LIST. THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING. IT CONTROLS ALMOST ALL FUNCTIONS IN THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING EVERY SETTING IT CONTROLS WILL RANDOMLY AND SUDDENLY SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT SETTING. YOU CAN NOT OVER RIDE IT'S RANDOM SWITCHING, EVEN BY TURNING IT OFF. THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER HAS SAID THE CAR IS UNDRIVEABLE. IF YOU DID TRY TO DRIVE A LARGE NUMBER OF MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL AND SOFTWARE SETTINGS ARE SWITCHING AS YOU DRIVE. IMAGE DRIVING DOWN HERE IN 95/95 FLORIDA (TEMPERATURE AND HUMIDITY) WHILE THE CAR IS TURNING ON THE HEAT FULL BLAST AND THE SEAT HEATER FULL BLAST, RESETTING WAYPOINTS, AND INSTRUCTING THE DRIVER TO TURN SOMEWHERE AND WATCH OUT FOR A UPCOMING COLLISION. THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM AND THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR AN ESTIMATED 3 MONTH. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR MOVING ON CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE SPOKEN A DOZEN TIMES TO FCA CUSTOMER CARE, CASE 76973156. THE KEEP SWITCHING CASE MANAGERS. RIGHT NOW THERE IS NOBODY ASSIGNED. THE CAR HAS ONLY ABOUT 5000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NOT INCLUDED AN ATTACHED FILE BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE YOU CAN NOT ACCEPT A VIDEO. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM (AS SERVICE GUY SAYS) AND THEREFORE THERE IS A SHORTAGE OF PARTS. IT STARTED FOUR(4) MONTHS AFTER I GOT THE CAR BRAND NEW. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, I DECIDED TO TAKE THE BACK ROADS, I COULD NOT USE MY BRAKES. I'VE HAD A PROBABLY FOUR(4) MONTH BATTLE WITH THE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS GOING OFF THEN COMING BACK ON OUT OF NOWHERE. THE FIRST TIME THE DTR WENT OUT THE LIGHTBULB WAS CHANGED AND THE METAL ON THE BASE OF THE LIGHTBULB WAS MELTED OFF.( I DO NOT HAVE PICTURES OF IT THE DEALERSHIP TOOK IT WHEN I SHOWED THEM) I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE SECOND TIME THE LIGHT KEPT GOING ON AND OFF. THEY CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND SAID THE RESISTANCE WAS TOO HIGH AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHY. THEREFORE I HAD TO WAIT ON PARTS TO CHANGE THE WIRING AND SOCKETS FOR THE DTRS. BOUGHT MY JEEP BRAND NEW IN JUNE 2018. WITHIN THE FIRST MONTH, THE USB PORT THAT CONNECTS TO CAR PLAY WOULD CONNECT THEN DISCONNECT WHEN IT RAINED. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T IDENTIFY THE ISSUE UNLESS I BROUGHT IT IS WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AND SHOWED THEM. WHICH I COULDN'T BECAUSE THEY WERE ALWAYS CLOSED WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. WITHIN THAT SAME MONTH, WHEN I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES IT SOUNDED LIKE THERE WAS AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE. EVERY SO OFTEN, THE SATELLITE RADIO WILL CUT OUT AND SAY "ACQUIRING SIGNAL". CAR HAS ALSO STALLED OUT ON ME 3 TIMES WHILE DRIVING. TWICE BEFOREHAND, WHEN I MADE A SHARP RIGHT TURN, THE OIL LIGHT WOULD POP ON FOR LITERALLY 2 SECONDS AND GO OFF. CAR WOULD STALL OUT AND WHEN I CHECKED THE DIP STICK, IT SHOWED I HAD BARELY ANY OIL. MANUAL SAYS EVERY 6000 MILES. OIL RUNS OUT BEFORE THE 6000 MILE MARK.IF I KNEW I'D BE PAYING OUT SO MUCH IN OIL , I WOULDN'T HAVE PAID SO MUCH FOR THIS STUPID TRUCK. ITS A COMPLETE RIP OFF. ONE OF THE TIMES IT STALLED OUT, I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. IT STALLED OUT JUST AS I WAS TURNING AND A CAR WAS COMING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND ALMOST HIT ME. I PURCHASED A 2018 RENEGADE ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. WITHIN A WEEK OF THAT PROBLO BEGAN WITH REMOTE STARTER THAT HAD BEEN ADDED PRIOR TO PURCHASE THAT WOULD UNLOCK ALL THE DOORS WHENEVER VEHICLE WAS STARTED USING REMOTE STARTER. I WAS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED AS THAT VEHICLE HAD ISSUES FROM DAY ONE AND DEALER COULDN'T FIX THEM. NO OFFER FROM DEALERSHIP TO ALLOW ME TO RETURN IT. SO OUT OF FRUSTRATION I TRADED IT IN FOR A MUCH HIGHER COST VEHICLE IN HOPES THE ISSUES WOULD BE GONE WITH A BRAND NEW VEHICLE OF A HIGHER PRICE AND PACKAGE. NOT SO! FROM THE FIRST DAY ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO I STARTED EXPERIENCING SERIOUS PROBLEMS. EVERYTIME I USE THE REMOTE STARTER THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHETHER I TOUCH THE DOOR HANDLE, UNLOCK VEHICLE WITH REMOTE, OPEN DOOR OR ENTER VEHICLE IF THE FIRST THREE METHODS DIDN'T SHUT IT DOWN. IN ADDITION THE UCONNECT 4 W/7" DISPLAY STARTED LOCKING A WEEK AGO AND WOULD NOT LET ME TURN IT OFF, CHANGE TEMPERATURE INSIDE VEHICLE, EVEN LOCKED OUT THE MANUAL CONTROLS OF HEATER/AC TEMPS,FAN COULD NOT BE CHANGED, RADIO STOPPED PLAYING. NO MATTER WHAT I TRIED NOTHING WORKED. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART. WITHIN A MILE DOWN THE ROAD IT LOCKED UP AGAIN AND THIS TIME SAME PROBLEMS WITH NON REPSONSIVE CONTROLS AS WELL AS THE VIDEO DISPLAY BEGAN FLICKERING IN LOWER LEFT HAND OF SCREEN. I WAITED TILL I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. WHEN I CAME OUT TO LEAVE IT WAS SOMEWHAT WORKING AGAIN. PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE WITH UCONNECT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO DEALERSHIP TWICE. FIRST TIME THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE 2ND TIME I WAS TOLD THE REMOTE STARTER WAS A KNOWN ISSUE SINCE 4/2018 WITH NO KNOWN REMEDY AND THE RADIO UCONNECT SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE AND A NEW RADIO WAS ORDERED BUT WAS BACKORDERED WITH NO KNOWN DATE OF AVAILABILITY. NO RESPONSE. TEXTED AGAIN ON 4/26/18, IPHONE UNSYNCS DURING THE CONVERSATION AND SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE CALLER IS UNDERWATER. SCREEN GOES BLACK WHEN IT RAINS. TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY RESET THE SYSTEM. 4/30/18 PARKING BRAKE IS A SYSTEM SET THROUGH THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM. UNCHECKED, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SET ON AUTO ENGAGED. IT UNCHECKED IN THE SETTING AUTOMATICALLY AND BEGAN ROLLING INTO TRAFFIC IN THE PARKING LOT. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER. MAY 1, 2018 -- REPORTED SCREEN ON THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM GOING BLACK AGAIN. ONGOING ISSUES AS I WAS OUT OF TOWN. KEPT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABREAST OF THE SITUATION. REPORT ON 5/21/18 THE STARTUP SEQUENCE ON THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM GOING HAYWIRE. ODOMETER FLASHING AND LANGUAGE CHANGES ON THIS SYSTEM. IN ADDITION, MILES CHANGES TO KILOMETERS AND FAHRENHEIT CHANGES TO CELSIUS. THE BACKUP CAMERA GOES OUT. MAY 22, 2018 -- PULL UP IN MY DRIVEWAY AND MY CAR IS ATTACHED TO BLUETTOH SETTING ON MY IPHONE. I RECEIVE AN ALERT OF A PARKING LOCATION UPDATE. EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY, I RECEIVE AN ALERT THAT THE CAR IS PARKED 8.3 MILES AWAY, AT THE LOCATION THAT I JUST LEFT. MAY 31, 2018 -- MUSIC IS PLAYING THROUGH THE ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM AND SCREEN IS BLACK. CALLS STILL DISENGAGING ARE SOUNDING AS THOUGH PEOPLE ARE UNDERWATER. BCM MODULE HAS BEEN ORDERED SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY. NONE HAVE WORKED. BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ALMOST DAILY. IN RENTAL SINCE AROUND JULY 2, 2018, UNTIL PRESENT. THE PART ON BACK ORDER. CHRYSLER STAR REPORT MISSING FROM THE SYSTEM, AND THEY REFUSE PAYMENT OR DOWNPAYMENT ASSISTANCE TO SWITCH ME OUT OF A VEHICLE I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN.

BOUGHT NEW 2018 JEEP RENEGADE. TRAVELING FROM PANAMA CITY FLORIDA TO A NEW DUTY STATION AT FT. BLISS (EL PASO TEXAS). AT AROUND 400 MILES ON THE VEHICLE ODOMETER, WINDSHIELD STARTED CRACKING. AT AROUND 1400 MILES ON VEHICLE ODOMETER, TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE FAILED 5 SEPARATE TIMES WHILE TRYING TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER. WE WERE TRAVELING WEST ON INTERSTATE 10, POSTED SPEED LIMIT 80 MPH, APPROXIMATELY 4 FOOT OF SHOULDER SOME AREAS, ZERO FEET WHERE GUARD RAILS WERE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON STATE ROUTE 31 IN LAKEPORT, NY. THE POWER STEERING LOCKED THE STEERING WHEEL IN PLACE AND IT WAS IMMOVEABLE. THE HILL ASSIST NEEDS SERVICE LIGHT APPEARED ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO TURN AND CAME TO A STOP NEAR THE SHOULDER AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO PULL THE WHEEL.
