The steering wheel clock spring has gone bad leaving no power to the electronics of the steering wheel making me question if the driver airbag works at all now. my passenger air bag is a bomb according to that recall and my driver is now faulty because of clock spring if I get in a wreck I'd be seriously injured or dead. do better jeep

The check-valve nipple on the gas tank of my 2011 Jeep Wrangler is broken. You can see it and smell the gas vapors leaking from this nipple. The vehicle has 86K miles. The Jeep failed our Delaware state inspection because the check engine light came on. The Jeep smells like gas and in addition to harmful vapors, it is a serious safety issue and an explosion danger. Two service stations attempted to fix this without success. The error code is P0455 for an emissions leak. The most recent service station ordered several previously-owned Jeep gas tanks but they all had this same failure. They next ordered a new gas tank from Jeep which was out of stock for several months, indicating they can not keep up with the demand for these failing nipples. When the new gas tank finally came in, this same nipple was broken and this was a brand new gas tank. If you go on line, you will see this is a common problem and a safety issue. As a former engineer for Ford Motor Company, it is clear Jeep has a design flaw that will break and cause a safety risk to customers. The material is wrong for this application, and there is not enough strain relief where this nipple is located. It will inevitably break on all Jeeps at some point in time causing this safety risk. I told the service station that there is no reason to replace the gas tank because this nipple will simply fail again. They have other Jeeps they are working on with this same problem so had no problem canceling my service request. Please address this problem with Jeep before someone is injured or killed.

Jeep wranglers have a common problem with the fuel inlet. It clogs over time then will cause fuel to spill over or click off constantly while fueling the vehicle. This gets worse in cold months. I have spilled fuel hundreds of times over the years while fueling. Jeep forums and YouTube talk about the widespread issue. No warranty or recall? Perhaps after a gas station goes up in flames

AUTO SHUT OFF OF GAS FILL DOES NOT WORK WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK AND GAS SPUES ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND GROUND WHEN TANK FILLS.

WHEN FILLING UP WITH FUEL, THE GAS WILL SPIT BACK AND SPILL FUEL ON THE SIDE OF JEEP AND GROUND, EVEN AFTER THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF OF THE HOSE ENGAGES. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL, MAYBE 5 DOZEN, TIMES SINCE I'VE OWNED IT. IT US WELL DOCUMENTED FROM THOUSANDS OF OWNERS OF THIS STYLE JEEP HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.

1. Battery, then alternator, now powertrain control module. 2. Yes, could have been stuck on one of the busiest roads in town. 3. Driving home from work and noticed my radio went off and the noticed lights flashing on my dashboard. My car was chugging so pulled off the road. Once on the side, it just shut down. Tried to restart and nothing happened. Called AAA and they said I needed a new battery and told me my alternator was in the danger mode. Took my jeep to a car repair service and told me they had to replace the alternator, but that this a common problem with my year jeep and it still won't be fixed and battery will still die again because the powertrain control module needs to be replaced. Gave me documents that show the number of jeeps brought into their service center with the same problem. Can't get into a jeep dealership for service until August 29, 2 2024. 4. The engine light has been on for a long time but everyone told me it wasn't anything to worry about, a electronic issue. Low tire light would come on and off at various times for a few years and tires would not be low. Also, my passenger side airbag light comes on and off all the time in the past 6 months. I believe this was a recall and was supposed to be fixed. Obviously this has all been part of the powertrain control module not working correctly. All other lights that came on when my battery died never came on before that incident.

MY JEEP WAS UNABLE TO GO INTO REVERSE, WENT AND GOT THE CHECKED AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IT HAD ONLY 8K MILES ON IT I KEPT THE MANTINANCE UP ON THE JEEP UNBELIEVABLE THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION ON A 2011 JEEP. SO DISAPPOINTED.

OUR JEEP HAS BEEN "SLIPPING" OUT OF GEAR, NO KNOWN CAUSE HAS BEEN FOUND. THE JEEP WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN IN GEAR (MANUAL) WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, HE DOWNSHIFTED AND IT GOT WORSE FROM THERE. MY HUSBAND PULLED OVER THE JEEP AND WAS UNABLE TO GET POWER TO START AND PLACE IN GEAR.

I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY THROW OUT BEARING PRELOAD ON MY JEEP. I HAVE NOTICED THERE IS A TSB 06-002-07 FOR THE TJ AND JK WRANGLERS YEAR 2007 AND BEFORE. I HAVE CALLED JEEP AND THEY HAVE NO RECORD ON THE THROW OUT BEARING FOR MY YEAR JEEP. AS SOON AS I GO TO GOOGLE THERE'S 100S OF PAGES ABOUT PRELOAD PROBLEMS ON THE THROW OUT BEARING. THEY HAVE ALSO RECOMMENDED A BEARING THREW NATIONAL BEARING AND SEALS BUT I HAVEN'T TRIED THAT YET. I HAD IT REPLACED IN NOVEMBER 2016 AND ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH CARMAX SAYING IT WAS MY DRIVING AND ALSO I HAD TO GO BACK AND FORTH MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE OF THERE FAULTY WORK. IT STARTED TO ACT UP AGAIN LOAD SQUEAL WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS DEPRESSED AND THE NOISE GOES AWAY WHEN PRESSED (AT A STOP IN NUETRAL) ALSO LOUD WHEN DRIVING WHEN CLUTCH IS RELEASED SAME NOICE. I'M NOT SURE WHO ELSE TO TALK TO ABOUT THIS ISSUE BECAUSE JEEP WAS NOT SO HELPFUL. THANK YOU.

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard an abnormal whistling sound emanating from the engine compartment, after which he observed smoke emanating from the engine compartment, prompting him to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway. After a visual inspection, the contact observed that the smoke was coming from the alternator, which seemed to be receiving power even though the vehicle was turned off, prompting the contact to disconnect the battery. Upon disconnecting the battery, the smoke dissipated. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 156,000.

on 10/18/2023 my 2011 jeep wrangler jk sport was driving on highway I-270 . after driving for 10 miles the jeep started to jump back and forth like it was running out of fuel . then the jeep just died while driving in the fast lane. I managed to get it to the side break down lane by coasting it over with out injury's ,but almost caused tree car crash by them avoiding contact with my jeep. I had the jeep towed home by friend and had it checked out there was not dash lights , not radio , no headlights , and when the key was turned on the dash would not light up or start at all . I call the dealer for there information on this . They told me that the ignition switch was not working. I replaced it with 2 other switches and still same problem . I finally had an associate that works at a dodge dealer come to look at it as a favor. He told me the TIPM module was not working by not allowing power to distribute to the electrical components and also fuel pump. therefore I would have to get the TIPM MODULE replace or repaired . This is not the 1st time he has seen this happen, he has seen lost of complaint on this issue from other owners and repair shops and then told me that I was very lucky that the jeep di not get hit on me injured from it shutting off on the highway. I told him that I would not include his name in my report to you or the dodge dealers , he does not want to get in any trouble or loose his employment and I respect that .

I HAD JUST DROPPED MY 6 YEAR OLD OFF SCHOOL, WENT TO LEAVE WITH MY 7 MONTH OLD AND ENDED UP STRANDED BECAUSE THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT, JUST TO FIND OUT THAT THERE IS A SENSOR IN THE COMPUTER AND ISN'T SOMETHING THAT CAN BE FIXED REAL QUICK. SO NOW AM IN A MAJOR BIND TRYING TO GET MY FAMILY PLACES WHILE MY JEEP SITS.

CLOCK SPRING NEEDS REPLACEMENT ON THE JEEP. THE VEHICLE HAS 43000 MILES AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN LIGHTLY OFF-ROAD. THE WARNING LIGHT CONSTANTLY GOES ON/OFF WITH A WARNING SOUND. THE ERROR CODE DISPLAYS "AIR BAG SENSOR", BUT MY NEIGHBORHOOD MECHANIC TELLS ME ITS THE CLOCK SPRING THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE CITY OF RIVERSIDE, DODGE DEALER (MOSS BROS) IN CA SAYS NO RECALLS ARE NOTED FOR MY 2011 JEEP.

ENGINE FAILURE. WHILE TRAVELING AT 75MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THREW A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT. THE VEHICLE DID NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART, BUT DID SO ON THE SECOND TRY. I DROVE AWAY AND APPROXIMATELY A MILE DOWN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO KNOCK AND MAKE BANGING NOISES, I PULLED OVER ONCE AGAIN AND CALLED A TOW TUCK. VEHICLE WAS LATER DIAGNOSED WITH FAILED ROD BEARINGS AND REQUIRED A FULL REBUILD. VEHICLE HAD 125K MILES AT THE TIME OF FAILURE.

DRIVNING ON INTERSTATE IN OHIO AFTER STOP AT SERVICE PLAZA AND JUST GOT OFF RAMP PULLING ONTO INTERSTATE AND OIL LIGHT POPPED UP AND AT SAME TIME ENGINE MADE A NOISE. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF ROAD. TURNED OFF JEEP, CALLED AAA. THEY TOWED ME. I'M TOLD IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. I HAVE RECORDS OF GOOD CARE OF THIS VEHICLE. IT ONLY HAD 56,500 MILES. I'M FINDING OUT OTHERS ONLINE OTHERS WENT THROUGH SAME. THE GARAGE TELLS ME THAT JEEP KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM AND PUT A NEW UPGRADE TO ENGINES. THESE ENGINES SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. NOW I'M FACING THOUSANDS FOR A NEW ENGINE AND I AM WITHOUT A VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP AND WAITING FOR A RESPONSE.

I BOUGHT MY JEEP WITH 67,000 MILES, WITHIN A YEAR BEFORE REACHING 100,000 MILES IT WAS ONLY AT ABOUT 99,000MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND APPARENTLY THE ENGINE WASN'T LUBRICATING CORRECTLY AND A BEARING IN THE ENGINE SHATTERED. EVEN THOUGH I CHANGE MY OIL EVERY 3,000 MILES WITH HIGH MILEAGE BECAUSE MY SPOUSE WORKS ON CARS HE IS ALWAYS MAKING SURE. AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS FURTHER THIS ENGINE IS KNOWN THROUGHOUT THE JEEP COMMUNITY TO FAIL BEFORE REACHING 100,000 MILES YET JEEP STILL HAS NOT USED AN EXTENSION FOR THE ENGINE. I SPENT ALMOST 20,000 DOLLARS ON THIS VEHICLE ONE YEAR AGO AND NOW I'M DRIVING AROUND WITH AN ENGINE THAT WILL FAIL SOON BECAUSE I HAVE TO GET TO WORK SOMEHOW AND THE WARRENTY ON THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY A FIVE YEAR 100,000 MILES WARRENTY SO IT DOESN'T COVER IT. I THINK JEEP SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR SELLING PEOPLE THESE ENGINES KNOWING THEY WILL FAIL BEFORE 100,000 MILES AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE AND EXTEND THE ORIGINAL WARRANTIES TO 10 YR 150,000 MILES FOR PEOPLE WHO EXPIERIENCE THIS KIND OF ENGINE FAILURE AND NOW HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE OUT OF POCKET. I NEED SOMEONE TO CONTACT ME REGARDING THIS ISSUE I WILL NOT SIT BACK AND REMAIN SILENT UNTIL IT IS RESOLVED. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER LIVING ON LIMITED INCOME AND HAVE TO TAKE FROM MY SAVINGS TO COVER AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE. FOR A CAR I BOUGHT 1 YEAR AGO AND DIDN'T EVEN GO 100,000 MILES BEFORE EXPLODING. THE OE HOOD LATCHES DEGRADE OVER TIME ALLOWING THE HOOD TO VIBRATE AND "LIFT" ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS IS WELL DOCUMENTED ANECDOTALLY - GOOGLE "WRANGLER JK HOOD FLUTTER". I SAW THE FRONT OF MY HOOD MOVING AT LEAST 1" TO THE POINT WHERE I FEARED IT WOULD FLY UP OVER THE WINDSHIELD. I REPLACED MY LATCHES WITH THOSE FROM THE 2018-19 WRANGLER JL MODEL WHICH NOW USES A METAL RING IN PLACE OF THE RUBBER BAND ON THE JK LATCH. THIS INDICATES TO ME THAT FCA REALIZES THE JK DESIGN IS FAULTY.

PURCHASED THE VECHICLE NEW, WITHIN 2500 MILES VECHICLE LEAKED WITH OVER 1INCH OF WATER ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR BOARD, THE DEALER REPLACED THE SEALS MOVE FORWARD 40K MILES DRIVE SIDE DOES THE SAME, REPLACED THE SEALS. AS SOON AS THE SEALS HAVE WERE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE AND THE CENTER SEAM OF THE FREEDOM PANEL STARTED LEAKING. MY VECHICLE HAS MOOD AND MILD ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE ROOF AND UNDER THE SEATS. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE VERY FIRST FIX WAS AN OBSOLETE FIX AND THEY HAVE COME OUT WITH A BETTER SEAL KIT BUT IT WOULD BE AT MY COST TO REPLACE. MY VECHICLE IS NOW JUST OVER 70K MILES AND HAS NEVER BEEN DRY SINCE WE BOUGHT IT NEW. NOT TO MENTION I'VE GONE THROUGH THREE STEREOS DUE TO THE LEAK AND SHORTING OUT AS WELL.

THE FRONT TWO DOORS OF MY JEEP LEAK WATER. IF IT RAINS OVER NIGHT THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD WILL HAVE 3/4 INCH OF STANDING WATER, THE DOOR LEAKS MORE WHEN DRIVING WHILE RAINING. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LEAKS, BUT ONLY WHEN DRIVING AND NOT ENOUGH TO FILL THE FLOOR BOARD. I SHOP VACUUM THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD EVERY TIME IT RAINS TO GET THE STANDING WATER OUT, THEN PUT TOWELS DOWN TO SOAK UP WHAT IS LEFT. THE CARPET NOW SMELLS MOLDY, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE CONCERNING MY HEALTH. JEEP HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN OF 23-010-13 (FORMALLY 23-001-12) OUT, SO THEY KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE. The contact owned a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. The contacts son stated while driving 25 mph the contact was making a right turn when the contact was unable to return the steering wheel back into neutral position. The vehicle had crashed into a guardrail where it came to a complete stop and the airbags did not deploy. The occupants both sustained back and neck pain but did not seek medical treatment. The contact stated no warning lights was illuminated. A police report was taken and the vehicle was towed to insurance lot where it was determined that the vehicle was totaled. The manufacturer was not informed of failure. The failure mileage was approximately 205,000.

I EXPERIENCED A "VIOLENT" SHAKING OF MY 2011 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED TWICE BEFORE TAKING IT INTO THE SHOP. THE FIRST TIME, IN LATE OCTOBER 2018, I WAS GOING AROUND 40MPH AND WAS ON A BUSY ONE LANE HIGHWAY. I HAD NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE. THE JEEP BEGAN TO SHAKE BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY. I SLOWED DOWN AND THE SHAKE WENT AWAY. THE SECOND TIME WAS 4 OR 5 DAYS LATER ON AN INTERSTATE. THIS TIME THE JEEP (GOING ABOUT 55MPH) SHOOK SO MUCH, IT PULLED THE CAR INTO THE PASSING LANE BEFORE SLOWING DOWN AND MAINTAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND FOUND A LESS BUSY ROAD TO GET HOME. I TOOK THE JEEP IN TO GET LOOKED AT AND THEY REPLACED THE "TRACK BAR" FOR $500. TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED AGAIN AND HAS HAPPENED ONCE OR TWICE SINCE, EACH TIME GOING BETWEEN 40MPH AND 60MPH. BASED ON THE EXPERIENCES I HAVE HAD, I CANNOT AFFORD TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE. I HAVE A BABY DAUGHTER BORN JUST A WEEK AGO AND AM NOT WILLING TO RISK HAVING THE JEEP FALLING APART, ROLL OVER, OR VEER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC.

FRONT END: I REPLACED TRACK BAR AND STEERING DAMPER AT 27,221 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. BAR BENT UNDER NORMAL DRIVING AND ROAD CONDITIONS WHICH IS UPON PAVED ROADS. THIS CAR DOESN'T GO OFF ROAD AND I REPLACED A PART THAT SHOULD LAST FOR WELL OVER THIS SHORT MILEAGE LIFE. IN THE SERVICE END OF THE BUSINESS (AT THE JEEP DEALER) THIS WAS CALLED "THE TIRE DEATH ROLL" FOR WHEN THIS HAPPENS ALL MANOR OF VEHICLE CONTROL IS MINIMAL. I EXPERIENCED THIS 3 TIMES UPON MY DRIVE OUT OF TOWN FOR A TRIP AS I WAS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THIS WOULD HAPPEN AS I MADE CONNECTIONS FROM ONE FREEWAY SYSTEM TO ANOTHER. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS WRONG SO IT COULD BE FIXED AND THEN FINISHED MY TRIP. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE FIAT CHRYSLER GROUP TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COSTS ASSOCIATED FOR FIXING AN INFERIOR PART. THERE RESPONSE WAS SINCE I DIDN'T PURCHASE AN "EXTENDED VEHICLE WARRANTY: IT'S NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I HAVE GONE OUT TO GOOGLE "TIRE DEATH ROLL" ON JEEPS AND IT SEEMS PRETTY COMMON, WHICH SEEMS PRETTY NEGLIGENT ON THEIR END. IF IT'S A "KNOW ISSUE", THEN WHEN CAR COME IN FOR SERVICE OR RECALLS THEY SHOULD LOOK AT THE "BAR AND DAMPER" SINCE IT SEEMS TO DIE PRETTY QUICKLY IN JEEPS AND NEED TO BE REPLACED COMMONLY. THIS REMINDS ME OF THE EXPLORER AND IT "ISSUES FOR MANY YEARS". I TOLD THE FIAT CASE WORKER" THAT THE CAR ONLY HAS 27,221 MILES ON IT. YES THE CAR IS 6 YEARS OLD BUT RARELY DRIVEN, AND FRONT END STEERING PARTS SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN WHAT I EXPERIENCED, EXTENDED WARRANTY OR NOT. NO ONE WANT TO EXPERIENCE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL ON A HIGHWAY RAMP AT 50 OR 60 MILES AND HOUR ON A SMOOTH CURVE IN THE ROAD. THIS "TIRE DEATH ROLL" EXPERIENCE HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS BEING DRIVEN ON A HIGHWAY IN MY INSTANCE, NOT WHEN ONE TURNS AT INTERSECTION LIGHTS.

DEATH WOBBLE - I HAD HEARD OF OTHER JEEP WRANGLER DRIVERS TALKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS, BUT HAD NEVER EXPERIENCED IT UNTIL LAST WEEKEND. IT STARTED WITH A SLIGHT SHIMMY AT AROUND 35MPH AT THE BEGINNING OF A ROUGHLY 250 MI. ROAD TRIP. BEFORE HITTING THE END OF THE TRIP, THE SHIMMY HAD TRANSFORMED INTO AN INCREDIBLY VIOLENT JERKING MOTION OF THE STEERING BETWEEN 10:00 - 2:00 AND LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. VERY NEARLY RESULTED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, HAD TO REPLACE THE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS, WHEEL BEARINGS, TIE ROD ENDS, STEERING STABILIZER, TRACK BAR AND DRAG LINKS. THE TRACK BAR BOLTS IN THE END SLEEVES SEEMED FAR TOO SMALL IN DIAMETER AND ROUTED OUT THE BUSHINGS OVER TIME AND THIS LOOKED TO BE ONE OF THE MAJOR CULPRITS OF THE PROBLEM. INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITION AND ALSO AN INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE FIX AS ALL OF THESE PARTS ARE AFFECTED AND INTERCONNECTED. WHEN ONE STARTS TO GO IT HAS A DOMINO EFFECT ON THE OTHERS.

In 2013 and 2014 my wife complained of the jeep having the "death wobble" on several occasions when she hit a bump on the highway at speeds of 40 MPH or higher. She would slow down to less than 10 mph for the wobbling to stop. The dealership attempted to determine what the issue was but was not able to find anything wrong. We had the same issue with our 2008 wrangler, and after paying over two thousand dollars in vain attempts to have the problem resolved, and a couple of issues caused by poor workmanship by the dealer, we traded that car in for the 2011 model. My wife seldom drove the jeep for the next few years due to terminal illness. I started driving it regularly in 2020 and found that the same condition was still occurring. While it does not happen every time I hit a bump at speeds above 40mph. it is occurring more often and more intensely. As a result of the intensity of the vibrations, I no longer will drive the jeep above 40 mph. It is my opinion that since this issue has been a problem for several models of jeeps over the past few years, it should be repaired by Chrysler/Jeep at no cost to the owners. This sudden vibration has probably caused accidents especially when one has to slow down suddenly, and should be considered a safety hazard.This has been happening with this jeep since at least March of 2014.

I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH SOUTHBOUND ON HIGHWAY 101 IN CALIFORNIA. I STARTED SMELLING A BURNING SMELL FROM UNDER THE HOOD. There is a known issue for these Jeep Wrangler (in my case a 2011 model) with the ABS module going bad. Unfortunately, the part is unavailable for purchase. None to be found anywhere. If you contact Jeep they tell you they are being produced anymore and basically good luck. On top of that the companies that repair them can no longer do it because they cant get the chips to repair. We need the option of buying a new one OR at the very least they need to produce the chips to fix. SOME KIND OF SOLUTION! When the module is bad, the ABS system/stability control system doesn't work!

I have an ABS control module internal failure, code C2200. There are no replacements available through dealer. Also, no shops to send module to for repair. My only option is EBay, where I have tried for replacement four times and cannot get the part number needed for my particular vehicle and year. The vehicle is not safe to commute to work, much less for traversing with my family inside.

ABS Control module failure. According to multiple Jeep dealers, this part has been on back order "for a very long time." I am unable to source a new part to repair my vehicle. Jeep should be able to provide replacement parts for critical safety items.

There is a well known design flaw with the Jeep Wrangler JK parking brake. The parking brake handle is comprised of two springs, a clutch spring and a clock-spring, which keep tension on the parking brake lines. When this spring system fails, which it commonly does, the parking brake handle can be pulled all the way to the top without engaging the parking brake and holding the vehicle. The clutch spring has a extended tail which is supposed to be retained behind a small piece of upright stamped metal, the stop, in order to maintain tension on the spring, which enables proper operation of the parking brake lever. However, the piece of stamped metal is so small and inefficient, that the clutch spring tail flips past the stop, and the spring loses all tension, and in turn, the parking brake doesn't work. There are numerous YouTube videos of this well-known design flaw, with various questionable home remedies. Jeep needs to create a safe fix for this issue to ensure a properly working parking brake, which is especially essential for manual shift vehicles such as mine. The photo attached shows the temporary home fix I created with a washer to get the clutch spring tail to remain in the proper position behind the stop.

The contact owns a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the fuel pump would continuously stop while attempting to refuel the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact could not gauge when the fuel tank was full; therefore, fuel would splash out of the tank once it reached capacity. The contact stated that fuel would splash onto her clothing or onto her face because of the failure. The contact called a dealer and the service mechanic confirmed that the failure was common and that her fuel tank would need to be replaced. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.

The horn, cruise control and radio controls on the steering wheel don't work. The dealership has advised that this repair will cost $1,400 plus if it is not covered by a recall. The diagnostic does not show any codes, but the general consensus is that the symptoms are caused by a failed clock spring. I bought the jeep in this condition.

Wipers immediately stopped working during heavy snow and rain mix. After spending a lot of money and time trying to repair they still did not work. All fuses and wires as well as wiper arms were inspected, the wiper motor and multifunction swith were replaced, my battery was replaced and no wipers. After verifying electrical circuits and power to the wiper motor, it was determined to be an issue in the tipm, apparently a frequent issue with Jeep vehicles. This is a dangerous issue that can cause accidents and certainly does not allow a vehicle to pass a state safety inspection, as in my case. This is an expensive repair that Jeep should be responsible for bt recalling these units on the Wranglers that are so often affected!

AT THE TIME MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR SIDE MIRROR/BACK DEFROSTER RECALL, MY REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN THE RECALL REPAIR WORK WAS COMPLETED, THE REAR DEFROSTER DID NOT WORK SINCE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO JEEP ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION & THEY CANNOT FIX IT. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW. THE PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE WHEN THE REAR WINDOW IS FOGGED UP, THERE IS ZERO VISIBILITY. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN I AM DRIVING AND CANNOT SEE WHAT'S BEHIND ME! IT'S A COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP VEHICLES AND IT WAS WORKING FINE BEFORE MY RECALL REPAIRS. We have been dealing with electrical issues with our Jeep for a few years now. About 2 months ago, the Airbag light turned on the dash, along with the Seatbelt light (although I am buckled in). I have now found that there are up to 6 recalls on the Airbag malfunctioning, but have never receive a recall or mention of this kind of malfunction when buying the car. How can I get this corrected? This car will not keep us safe, better yet pass an inspection with this manufacture's malfunction.

SHUT CAR OFF, RESTARTED AND RAN THROUGH DISCONNECT PROCEDURES- PUT TRANS/DIFF IN NEUTRAL AND HIT DISCONNECT BUTTON- LIGHT WENT OFF. WHILE DRIVING JEEP TO WORK NEXT MORNING, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD FLASHED AND CAR SHUT OFF. JEEP WOULD NOT START. TIPM WAS FRIED WITH DISCONNECT MOTOR. I have been experiencing the "death Wobble" for many years, and have gone to various shops to find out the problem but have not been able to fix the "death wobble". The entire car shakes and vibrates uncontrollably when I drive on the free way over a bump, or even when I drive on a regular street and hit a bump. The shaking doesn't stop until I come to a complete stop, and that is very dangerous on the freeway. Once the "death wobble" is going on braking and controlling the jeep are nearly impossible. I have recently found out about a class action lawsuit for this very problem, and I believe my car qualifies to be part of this. I have not been able to document this because it doesn't always happen, and when it does I don't have a camera running.

I CURRENTLY OWN A 2011 JEEP WRANGLER THAT IS EXPERIENCING SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES. CURRENTLY THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND THERE IS A CHIME INDICATING SUCH. THIS CHIME OCCURS APPROXIMATELY EVERY 1 TO 2 MINUTES. AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME THE AIRBAG LIGHT PROBLEM OCCURRED, THE OTHER CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL SUCH AS THE HORN, CRUISE CONTROL AND RADIO CONTROLS STOPPED FUNCTIONING. I CONTACTED JEEP (CHRYSLER) ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WITHIN 24-48 HOURS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. APPROXIMATELY 10 DAYS WENT BY AND I HAD NOT HEARD BACK FROM JEEP. I CONTACTED JEEP AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THIS ISSUE. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THE SAFETY CONCERNS WITH NOT HAVING A WORKING HORN AND A QUESTIONABLE AIRBAG. THIS DID NOT SEEM TO BE AN ISSUE THAT THEY WERE TO CONCERNED ABOUT. I'VE BEEN IN LAW ENFORCEMENT FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW, AND I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A FUNCTIONING AIRBAG. THIS IS COMING FROM SOME OF THE ACCIDENTS THAT I HAVE EITHER WITNESSED OR WORKED AS AN INVESTIGATING OFFICER. I HAVE FOUND THROUGH RESEARCH THAT SEVERAL EARLIER MODEL (2007-2008) JEEP WRANGLERS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR SIMILAR ISSUES. THE CLOCKSPRING ON MY 2011 JEEP WRANGLER (LEFT HANDED DRIVE) HAS FAILED CAUSING THE AIRBAGS TO BECOME DYSFUNCTIONAL AND AIRBAG LIGHT TO ENGAGE. FCA HAS RECALLED RIGHT HANDED DRIVE JEEP WRANGLERS 2007-2012 UNDER THE ATTACHED RECALL NOTIFICATION. FCA HAS ALSO RECALLED 2007 LHD JEEP WRANGLERS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THE ROOT CAUSE OF THESE RECALLS WAS DETERMINED TO BE DUST ACCUMULATION IN THE GREASE OF THE CLOCKSPRING AS SEEN IN THE ATTACHED RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE CLOCKSPRING PART IN BOTH LHD AND RHD VARIATIONS OF THIS MODEL JEEP WRANGLER INCLUDE A SIMILAR, IF NOT THE SAME, CLOCKSPRING PART. THE AMOUNT OF DUST THAT A JEEP WRANGLER IS SUBJECT TO DOES NOT CORRELATE TO THE POSITION OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND CLOCKSPRING. I WOULD SUSPECT THAT A VEHICLE WITH LESS THAT 70,000 MILES AND 5 YEARS OF USE SHOULD NOT HAVE AIRBAG FAILURE. My vehicle is having a start issue…if I can get it to start…it Wii die when trying to drive it…then takes numerous tries to get it to start if it will…. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENED AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. IN ADDITION, THE BATTERY AND OVERHEAT WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (FREY MOTORS AT 409 VALLEY ST, LEWISTOWN, PA 17044) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SERPENTINE BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE AIR CONDITION HOSE WAS FRACTURED. Replaced the master cylinder for brakes and it worked for about 8 months then started leaking. More and more fluid was leaking and the brakes became very soft. Decided to replace the master cylinder again and upon inspection of the unit that was failing found that the manufacturing process had damaged the reservoir seals and nipples and it finally gave way to the leak. I tried reaching out to the manufacture but was told I would be contacted but nothing came of it. I have tried to repeatedly get in touch with them to no avail. I fear for anyone else having one of these poor workmanship master cylinders in their vehicle. Could have been a lot worse.

I have Airbag failure. I had it diagnosed by a local mechanic. My Jeep had Airbag failure in the past and the repair was done by Jeep. Jeep refused to pay for it, although the same year of Wrangler was recalled for the Airbag failures. They returned my money almost 2 yrs later. The current Code is B1B02 (Clockspring). In addition to my Airbag light being on, due to failure (defect), my other gauges are not working properly (gasoline etc.) and the electronics will not work now (buttons on steering wheel for cruise control, radio, trip/mileage etc. Jeep dealerships in Illinois have repeatedly stolen parts off my Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, as it is a "Special Edition" Black Ops package. I have also caught a Jeep technician draining my coolant, which he spilled all over my radiator, in an attempt to tell me I had a "leak" and all the coolant is gone. He tried to "bend" my waterpump (in front of me) and I demanded he return my keys & I left. I've run out of reputable dealerships to take my Jeep. PLEASE HELP! I have a disabled child who rides with me & I cannot be without Airbags. Since day of purchase, this Jeep has been riddled with KNOWN DEFECTS. The local mechanic told me there was a Recall. Jeep has not notified me of Recalls or ANY information in several years, as a result of my complaints to the Manufacturer's Administrators about the continuous theft and fraud by their dealerships and the defects in my Jeep.

ON MY 2011 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON UNLIMITED (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2007 AND NEWER JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, I SHIFTED IN MY DRIVER'S SEAT AND THE SEAT BACK COLLAPSED TO THE REAR SEAT. THIS CAUSED A MOMENTARY LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO RAISE THE SEAT BACK WITH THE RECLINER MECHANISM. THIS ALLOWED ME TO SIT UP IN A HIGHLY RECLINED POSITION (WHEREIN MY ARMS WERE STRETCHED TO THE MAXIMUM IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE REMAINDER OF MY TRIP). I DIDN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE NEXT DAY. I REPORTED THIS SITUATION TO MY DEALER THE NEXT DAY (FEBRUARY 10) FOR CORRECTION (ALTHOUGH I HAD PREVIOUSLY REPORTED THIS SAME CONDITION AROUND APRIL OF 2011 AND WAS TOLD THAT NO PROBLEM COULD BE FOUND). THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATED AND FOUND THAT THE RECLINER MECHANISM WAS BROKEN AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I PUT SOMETHING BEHIND THE SEAT TO KEEP IT FROM FALLING BACK INTO THE REAR SEAT WHILE THE PART WAS ORDERED. I WAITED A WEEK (FEBRUARY 17) WITH NO RESPONSE FROM THE DEALER, I VISITED THE LOCATION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART HAD TO COME FROM THE SEAT VENDOR AND AN EXPRESS REQUEST WAS PLACED ON THE ORDER FOR IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT. TODAY (FEBRUARY 23) I WAS CONTACTED BY THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AND INFORMED THAT THE AN ETA FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND FOR ME TO CONTACT CHRYSLER DIRECTLY FOR THEIR INTERVENTION. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN NOVEMBER 2010. THERE HAS BEEN SYSTEMIC ELECTRICAL FAILURES THAT ARE GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND PUTTING MY SAFETY AT RISK. I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE RUN AROUND WITH CHRYSLER REGARDING THE PROBLEMS. - I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM A JEEP DEALER IN LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA. SINCE BEING PURCHASED THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS HAVE FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. EACH PART SIMPLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IN ORDER TO MAKE THEM START WORKING AGAIN I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER TURN THE CAR OFF WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN TURN THE CAR BACK ON (HORN, LIGHTS, WINDOW MASER SWITCH, CAR STEREO, CAR STEREO AMP, DRIVER'S AIRBAG). ONCE I RESTARTED THE CAR IT SEEMED LIKE THE JEEP WOULD RESET AND THE PARTS WOULD START WORKING AGAIN. JEEP HAS BEEN REPLACING THESE ITEMS, BUT THEY WOULD NEVER ROOT CAUSE THE PROBLEM. - MOST RECENTLY CHRYSLER DISCOVERED THAT THE FUSE BOX & ELECTRICAL CLUSTER WERE DEFECTIVE. IT TOOK JEEP 77 DAYS TO REPLACE THE 2 PARTS. THE WORSE PART IS THEY TRIED TO HAVE ME DRIVE THE VEHICLE DURING THOSE 77 DAYS UNTIL THE PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE PUTTING ME AND ANY VEHICLE AROUND ME AT RISK OF INJURY AND DEATH. T-2.9 SECS, THE VEHICLE DETECTS THE SUDDEN CHANGE IN THE YAW RATE AND CAUSES THE ESP TRACTION LAMP TO START FLASHING. THE LAMP REMAINS FLASHING UP UNTIL THE IMPACT WITH A 300# BOULDER AT WHICH TIME THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED RECORDING THESE DATA. T-2.5 SECS, THE DRIVER NOTICES THE FLASHING ESP TRACTION LAMP IN 0.4 SECS LIFTING HER FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR BRIEFLY FOR 0.3 SECONDS. THE ACCELERATOR POSITION IS INDICATED BY THE BLUE LINE. SHE THEN REAPPLIED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE SAME LOCATION BY T-2.2 SECS INDICATING THAT SHE REALIZED SHE WAS NOT SLIDING DESPITE THE ESP TRACTION INDICATOR. SHE HAD HER VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL AT THIS TIME. T-1.8 SECS, THE ESP MODULE APPARENTLY TOLD THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY PUMP TO LOCK BOTH FRONT WHEELS WHILE ALLOWING BOTH BACK WHEELS TO KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE FORWARD. In addition, the seat belt warning light would illuminate while driving downhill. The check engine warning light illuminated on the day the vehicle was purchased. The contact scanned the vehicle with an OBD2 scanner and retrieved a code that the battery might have been disconnected. An appointment was scheduled with the dealer to inspect the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

(1) Since October, I have had airbag failure in my Wrangler Rubicon. The failure is the 2nd time for the same defective parts. Jeep has failed to repair/replace the parts. I've been waiting for two months. I cannot drive with no airbags. It's a death sentence and SUICIDE to drive without airbags. There is a recall on this same defect issue, yet Jeep has continued to ignore this issue. (2) Jeep repaired a recall on my sidemirror defrosters a few years ago. After their repair, the defroster never worked again. (3) My heated seats failed to work, due to known defects. I've been without the deated seats for more than 2 years now! Jeep refuses to fix their defects.

The clutch. I was driving down the freeway and the clutch went out. Yes, Champion Jeep Dodge confirm the clutch system went out. Yes, I was told they do not cover the clutch. There was no one he signed symptoms or problems. I did take it back to AutoNation on 2 other occasion complaining about the brakes and the emergency. I have had this vehicle less than 7 months and had nothing but problems. I paid Auto Nation $6,500 for this Lemon vehicle & purchase the extend warranty plus, because I was told if anything breaks down with this vehicle, I would be covered bumper to bumper on this vehicle within the 2-year time period, under this extended warranty plus. Todd told me It would cover everything under the warranty and specifically the clutch, transmission, motor & electronics. My brother asked Todd several times precisely about the clutch and was told yes with the extended warranty plus, it covers everything major on this vehicle. With the Extended Warranties Plus, You ARE COVERED BUMPER to BUMPER, this is the most comprehensive coverage. NOW, I am asking you to put me in another vehicle until you get this figured out. I am requesting Auto Nation to get me in another vehicle, because I believe this is a LEMON vehicle and I am tired of all the problems with this truck. If you can assure me that Y'all is going to handle this ongoing problem with my Jeep. This Jeep was at Delta World Tire June 13 – 19 and then I transferred to Champion Chrysler Dodge Jeep on the 19th of June waiting for approval. Auto Nation extended warranty denied claim on vehicle (Denial Reason for the Case [XXX]). Delta World tire was the Preferred shop but was behind in workload and short on mechanics. I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangle that has multiple airbag issues and 17 yr that is Autistic driving it. I request proof that recalled have been done by Jeep and was told we have no open recalls but they are unable to prove they even looked at the truck. What is frightening is the airbag light and seat belt light have come on and we have checked there is no record of any recalls being done. The truck was built on the day, date, location of where the recalls are from in the same building time. This seems shady that not myself or out dealer can acquire proof these this have been done. I think it is very conserving that a car company can claim a recall and decide that only 5,300 of 10,000 Jeeps made do not apply to a recall. Then let’s add a manufacturer can not prove any recalls have been done at all and I have a full history report never one mention but yet there are no recalls. The wheel hit another car and this could have caused a worse accident as there were no functioning brakes and steering was impacted. No advanced warnings were present.

While travelling country road (divided highway) cruising at approximately 65 mph (cruise control engaged) the message indicator went "ding" and the check engine light began flashing. I turned on flashers, slowed down and found a commercial driveway into which I could exit and stop off roadway. After turning off ignition I immediately raised the hood and found active fire (flames) to the rear of the intake manifold and forward of the firewall where the wiring harness is located. I instructed my passenger to immediately exit the vehicle. I had bottles of drinking water with us (hot day in Texas) so I took three or four bottles of water and extinguished the flames from both sides of the upper engine. The flames were immediately extinguished indicating no presence of petroleum products fueling the flames. After ensuring that fire was fully extinguished I called a local towing service to come pick us up and drop the Jeep at a local NAPA repair shop. Shop located and ordered a new wiring harness as opposed to trying to repair existing harness. May file a claim with Auto Insurance after repairs are made.

IT AND THE ABS CAME ON A FEW WEEKS AGO AND WILL NOT GO OFF, BECAUSE IT THINKS MY VEHICLE IS SLIDING OR SPINNING, THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKES WILL GRAB AND IT CUTS THE POWER TO THE ENGINE. I WAS DRIVING AT UNDER 10 MPH, ON A TEXAS STATE ROAD WHEN THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE WHICH IS CONNECTED TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE BODY WITH SOME TYPE OF ADHESIVE FAILED. THIS DROPPED THE FUEL LINE DIRECTLY ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH MELTED THE FUEL LINE CAUSING A FIRE THAT SPREAD TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ISSUE ON THE 4 DOOR MODEL WRANGLERS AS THE 2 DOOR WRANGLERS HAVE A PLATE PREVENTING THIS. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE LOOKED AT ON ALL 4 DOOR MODELS, RANGING FROM 2008 THROUGH AT LEAST 2013. I HAVE LOOKED AT OTHER 4 DOOR JEEPS AND SEE THAT THEY HAVE THE SAME POTENTIAL ISSUE THERE IS NOTHING THAT PREVENTS THE FUEL LINE FROM COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE EXHAUST AND POTENTIALLY CAUSING A FIRE.

RE: NHTSA RECALL #14V-631, MY MIRRORS, AND THE DEFROSTING ON THEM AS WELL AS MY REAR WINDOW WORKED FINE BUT I RECEIVED 2 OR 3 RECALL NOTICES IN THE MAIL EARLY 2015. I TOOK MY RUBICON (WRANGLER) INTO A DEALERSHIP, HAWK JEEP IN FOREST PARK, IL (CHICAGO) FOR THE SAFETY RECALL REPAIR. THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO USE THE DEFROSTERS AFTER THE REPAIR WAS A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO WHEN IT SNOWED - NOTHING WORKS! I USED TO SEE THE ICE/FOG DEFROSTING WITHING 10-15 SECONDS. SINCE THEY DID WHAT THEY DID, THE SIDE MIRROR DEFROSTERS DID NOT WORK NOR DOES MY REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 JEEP WRANGLER ABOUT 5-8 MPH WHEN I HEARD A POP TYPE OF NOISE. I THEN SAW A FLAME UNDER THE HOOD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ALL OF A SUDDEN, MY THROTTLE LOCKED UP AND MY CAR WOULDNT STOP. I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, BUT MY TIRES KEPT SPINNING. MY ELECTRICAL WAS LOCKED UP AND I COULDNT GET THE JEEP OUT OF DRIVE AND INTO PARK. MY BOYFRIEND RAN OVER, JUMPED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE TO TRY TO GET THE JEEP INTO PARK, AS I COULDNT GET IT TO MOVE. HE FRACTURED HIS HAND IN TWO PLACES GETTING THE GEARSHIFT TO GO INTO PARK. AT THIS POINT THERE WAS BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE UNDER THE HOOD. HE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT INTO PARK. AT THAT POINT HE HELPED PULL ME OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE JEEP AS THE FIRE/FLAMES WERE STARTING TO COME THRU THE DASHBOARD INTO THE INSIDE OF THE JEEP. IT TOOK ABOUT AN HOUR TO GET THE FIRE OUT, THEN APPROX. 15-20 MIN LATER THE FIRE STARTED AGAIN ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.

MY 2011 JEEP WRANGLER HAS MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULDN'T TURN OFF EVEN AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE ENGINE. I PULLED THE FUSE BUT THEY STILL STAYED ON. I COULD SMELL SOMETHING ELECTRICAL BURNING SO I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. ALSO THE DOOR LOCKS DON'T WORK AND FRONT CIGARETTE LIGHTER STOPPED WORKING. WAS ENTERING ONTO THE INTERSTATE WHEN MY 2011 JEEP WRANGLER COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON, POWER STEERING WENT OUT, AND HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF. IMMEDIATELY MANEUVERED THE JEEP OFF OF THE INTERSTATE WHERE I SAT IN 20 DEGREE WEATHER FOR A HALF HOUR BEFORE IT WOULD START BACK. TWO WEEKS LATER I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE IN A RAIN STORM AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. ONCE AGAIN, WE HAD TO CAREFULLY GET OFF OF THE INTERSTATE AND TRY TO GET THEM WORKING, WHICH WE FAILED TO DO. HAD TO WAIT UNTIL THE STORM PASSED BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. MY HUSBAND IS A MECHANIC AND BEGAN DRIVING THE JEEP ON A DAILY BASIS WITH A COMPUTER HOOKED TO IT IN HOPES TO CATCH A CODE. ONCE AGAIN, THE JEEP SHUT OFF ALL POWER AND THREW A CODE FOR THE TIPM MODULE. SINCE THEN, WE'VE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE THE JEEP LOOSES ALL POWER AND SHUTS OFF ALONG WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL KICKING OFF AND ON. WE BOUGHT THE JEEP AND HAD IT FOR ONLY 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE PROBLEMS BEGAN. WE'VE CONTACTED THE DEALER WE PURCHASED FROM, SEVERAL JEEP DEALERSHIPS AND CHRYSLER DIRECTLY AND RECEIVED THE RUN AROUND BY ALL OF THEM. WE CONTACTED OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALER WHERE WE WERE TOLD THAT THE TIPM MODULES WERE A COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY WERE ON BACK ORDER WITH NO ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL, BUT THEY WOULD CALL WHEN IT CAME IN. USING MY 2011 JEEP WRANGLER (RIGHT HAND DRIVE), I DELIVER MAIL FOR THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE. WAS DELIVERING MAIL ON MY RURAL ROUTE. DATE WAS 4TH OF FEB.2014. THE PROBLEM WAS A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HARNESS , MANY OTHER WIRES, COMPARTMENT PLASTICS ,AND GAS LINE. THE CAUSE APPEARS TO BE HOT OIL FROM THE TRANSMISSION DIPPING ONTO THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION . I ONLY SEE THAT THE FILL TUBE ON THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE LEAK. I HEARD A FIRE IGNITE , OPEN THE CAR HOOD AND SEEN THE BLACK SMOKE I THEN PUT OUT THE FIRE. IT IS NOW THE DATE-MARCH 18 ,2014. I HAVE NO SUPPORT FROM CHRYSLER CORPORATION FOR REPAIR OF MY PROBLEM. I STARTED MY JEEP THIS MORNING IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE FACTORY REMOTE START, 10 MIN LATER I WALKED OUT OF MY HOUSE AND SAW FLAMES AND SMOKE COMING FROM MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. A CAR DRIVING BY HAD STOPPED AND CALLED 911. ANOTHER NEIGHBOR RAN OVER WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE FIRE IN CONTROL BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT GOT THERE. THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND MELTED, THE WINDOW IS GONE. THE ROOF, SEAT AND SURROUNDING AREA ARE ALSO DAMAGED. THE FIRE APPEARED TO HAVE STARTED SOMEWHERE IN THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I CALLED JEEP TWICE TODAY THINKING THEY WOULD BE CONCERNED AND RESPONSIVE, BUT I WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE 2-5 DAYS BEFORE THEY COULD HAVE SOMEONE COME OUT AND INSPECT THE CAR. WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH, MY 2011 4-DOOR JEEP WRANGLER HIT A SMALL BUMP. THE JEEP'S FRONT-END/STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. POTENTIALLY A ROOT CAUSE OF THE RASH OF FIRES IN JEEP WRANGLERS THAT ARE SITTING PARKED: FAILURE OF THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE). IN DEC 2011, MY DAUGHTER DROVE HER NEW (3000 MILES) 2011 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED TO CHURCH, PARKED IT, TURNED OFF THE KEY, TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION, EXITED THE VEHICLE AND LOCKED THE DOOR, AND WENT INTO THE CHURCH BUILDING - NEVER REALIZING THAT MOTOR WAS ACTUALLY STILL RUNNING!! (THEY'RE VERY QUIET WHEN IDLING AND SHE WAS TALKING TO A FRIEND.) ABOUT 20 TO 30 MINUTES LATER, A MAN CAME RUNNING INTO CHURCH THAT KNOWS OF HER VEHICLE AND SAID "YOUR JEEP IS RUNNING, THERE'S SMOKE OR STEAM COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, THE DOOR IS LOCKED, AND I CAN'T GET IN TO TURN IT OFF! MY DAUGHTER CHECKED AND SHE INDEED HAD THE IGNITION KEY IN HER HAND. SHE RAN OUT OF CHURCH AND UNLOCKED THE DOOR, PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION BUT IT WOULD NOT KILL THE ENGINE! WE HAD TO ENGAGE THE CLUTCH IN A HIGH GEAR ON THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION TO KILL IT. RADIATOR COOLANT ALL OVER THE GROUND. WE FOUND THAT RADIATOR FLUID WAS JUST ABOUT ALL BOILED OUT OF THE ENGINE. THE TIPM WAS ALLOWING THE ENGINE TO CONTINUE TO RUN EVEN THOUGH THE IGNITION WAS OFF AND KEY REMOVED - BUT THE TIPM DID SHUT OFF THE ELECTRICALLY OPERATED COOLING FAN IN FRONT OF THE RADIATOR. THERE WAS ELECTRICAL POWER GOING TO THE MOTOR IGNITION SO THAT THE MOTOR CONTINUED TO RUN - BUT W/O A FAN. THE COOLANT BOILED OUT OF THE ENGINE AND HAD OUR FRIEND NOT INTERVENED OUR MOTOR DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE BOILED ITSELF DRY AND CONTINUED TO RUN UNTIL IT EITHER SEIZED UP DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT AND/OR IGNITED A FIRE DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE HEAT (POTENTIALLY BY IGNITING THE FUEL WITHIN THE FUEL SYSTEM?? 1.TOP INTERMITTENTLY LEAKS ON/NEAR THE PASSENGER DOOR, AND WHEN THERE IS SNOW THE TOP ACTS LIKE A SPONGE AND SATURATES LEAKING WATER EVERYWHERE INSIDE THE JEEP. I HAVE DRIVEN AND BEEN IN SOFT TOPS MOST OF MY LIFE AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN A SOFT TOP SATURATE THAT BADLY THAT IT SOAKS THE INSIDE OF THE JEEP. ORIGINALLY THE TOP LEAKED TERRIBLE ANYTIME IT RAINED ALONG THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD AND PASSENGER SIDE, 4 TIMES I CALLED TO COMPLAIN 3 TIMES THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY FAULT FOR PUTTING THE TOP ON WRONG IN WINTER THE 4TH TIME THEY ACTED SURPRISED AND SAID OH BTW THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN 2.THE ENGINE MAKES A TERRIBLE HIGH PITCH WHISTLE/SIREN NOISE FROM THE ENGINE INTERMITTENTLY. IT LAST ANYWHERE FROM A FEW MINUTES TO A FEW HOURS. I HAVE THIS ON VIDEO 2 TIMES AND DAN'S JEEP HAS HEARD IT ALSO ALONG WITH MANY COWORKERS FRIENDS AND FAMILY. 3.THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A TERRIBLE NOISE WHEN COLD INITIALLY AND RECENTLY IS MAKING THE NOISE IN LESSER SEVERITY EVEN WHEN WARMED UP. THE NOISE IS LIKE DRAGGING A NAIL ACROSS A SPRING. 4.TWICE NOW MY JEEP HAS HAD A SERIOUS IDLE/RPM PROBLEM I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO CALL THE PROBLEM. SATURDAY THE 22ND OF OCTOBER 2011 I STARTED THE JEEP, IT IDLED FINE. I POPPED THE HOOD OPEN WITH A FRIEND TO SEE IF WE COULD HEAR THE SQUEALING NOISE WHEN I GAVE IT GAS. WHEN I GAVE IT GAS THE JEEP DROPPED IN RPM AND ACTED AS IF IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT. EXPERIMENTING WITH THE AMOUNT OF GAS NO MATTER HOW FAR I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL IT CONTINUED TO SOUND LIKE IT WAS DYING. FRIDAY THE 28TH OF OCTOBER AFTER DRIVING FOR WELL OVER AN HOUR THE JEEP WAS MAKING THE HIGH PITCH SQUEALING/WHISTLE/SIREN NOISE. AGAIN AND AT A STOP LIGHT I WENT TO GIVE IT GAS AS THE LIGHT WENT GREEN AND THE JEEP DROPPED IN RPM AND BEGAN TO STALL OUT IT SEEMED. AT APPROXIMATELY 3,000 MILES I PERFORMED THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. I FOUND THE DRAIN PLUG, WHICH IS TYPICALLY TIGHT, TO BE LOOSE. I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE IT WITH MY FINGERS. AT APPROXIMATELY 6,000 MILES, I BEGAN TO HEAR A CLUNKING NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS. AFTER TRYING TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE FOR OVER A WEEK, I FINALLY DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. THE UPPER ANTI-SWAY BAR FASTENERS ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION WERE LOOSE. I TORQUED THEM BACK TO SPECS MYSELF. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT OTHER NUTS OR BOLTS MAY BE LOOSE ON THIS VEHICLE. JEEP ISSUED A RECALL FOR "LOOSE SUSPENSION FASTENERS" FOR 2010 AND 2011 MODELS, BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM MAY BE MORE WIDESPREAD THAN JEEP HAS SPOKEN IT TO BE. *TR

DEFECT: FAILURE OF THE FACTORY INSTALLED MOPAR/CHROME BUMPER IN AN IMPACT OF LESS THAN 5 MILES PER HOUR. 2011 JEEP WRANGLER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEREIN THE FRONT RIGHT BUMPER IMPACTED INTO A FIXED OBJECT (FREE STANDING BRICK WALL). THE BUMPER, WHICH CONSISTS OF TWO CHROME WRAPPED TUBULAR DEVICES MOUNTED TO A CENTER HOLDING BRACKET, SUFFERED NEGLIBLE DAMAGE CONSISTING OF SHALLOW ABRATIONS ON THE TUBULAR DEVICE AND WITHOUT EVIDENCE OF DENTING OF SAID DEVICE. THE TUBULAR COMPONENT MOUNTS TO THE HOLDING BRACKET BY WAY OF BOLTS. THE MOUNTING BRACKET SHOWS NO SIGN OF DAMAGE HOWEVER THE TUBULAR COMPONENTS NOW MOVE FREELY BUT REMAIN MOUNTED TO THE BRACKET INDICATIVE OF DAMAGE TO THE HOLDING BOLTS OR THE INTERNAL NUT/SCREW SYSTEM INSIDE THE TUBULAR COMPONENTS. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN A CONFINED SPACE OF A DRIVEWAY. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND EXAMINED THE BUMPER. THE LOCAL DEALER DID NOT BELIEVE THE BUMPER WAS DESIGNED TO BE "BREAK AWAY " IN A LOW SPEED/LESS THAN 5 MILE PER HR ACCIDENT. THE DEALER WAS ASKED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURE OF THE BUMPER TO DISCUSS THIS DEFECTIVE PART OR DESIGN FLAW. *TR
