The manufacturer refuses to process the 68c recall. The car was purchased from a dealer in Canada in 2021. I purchased it in 2025 and imported it to Poland. Currently, the car is registered and used in Poland. The dealership refused to process it. He suggested I take the car to North America and have the recall performed there. It's possible to have the software related to the 68c recall installed at an independent repair shop in Poland, but if the battery needs to be replaced, Jeep won't do it. I tried contacting Jeep in the US to ask how to resolve this, but there's no email address or online form available. Given zip code is incorrect since this form do not allow to use forein zipcode. Please contact me via email address. Regards [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Open recall with no fix that’s a safety issue do to the potential of the vehicle catching fire. I have filed a claim with mopar and they just keep saying that there’s no fix available. I’m looking to get a buy back because this vehicle is not safe.

Fire risk. Recalls for software update. I’ve done the software update once already after my jeep wouldn’t start and had to be towed to the dealership. My engine light came on again along with a stabilizer bar warning light. The dealership said they need to do another software update again, but that there’s still no real fix for the issue. I’m dropping it off again tonight. The fact that I have to do this and to be told there’s still no real fix is ridiculous. I’d really like to get rid of my jeep at this point, but I feel stuck because who’s going to buy it with all these unresolved issues?

The power steering system experienced a sudden failure while the vehicle was in motion. Steering assist was lost without warning, causing a significant and immediate increase in steering effort. This created a serious safety hazard and I nearly lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with approximately 31,000 miles. There were no warning lights, messages, or symptoms prior to the failure. The loss of power steering occurred unexpectedly while driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Jeep dealership, where the issue was confirmed. The dealer stated the failure was related to two communication bus lines associated with the power steering system. The dealer is refusing warranty coverage and has quoted approximately $1,000 for repair. The failure directly impacted my ability to safely control the vehicle and posed a risk of crash, injury, or death to myself and others on the road. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. The issue has been confirmed by the dealer, and no inspection by the manufacturer or other third parties has occurred at this time.

Steering Death Wobble, usually on bumpy type of roads. Has improved some after front end alignment. No safety risks so far but very scary. Dealer has not been able to reproduce it, only happens so often. No, only a mechanic shop has looked at the vehicle. No warning lights or messages came on before.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle shuddered. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper needed to be replaced. Upon researching online, the contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

“Violent steering oscillation / loss of steering control at highway speeds” Speed when it occurs (usually 45–70 mph) Trigger (bumps, bridge joints, potholes) It requires slowing significantly to regain control. “This is consistent with Jeep’s known steering damper failure causing death wobble. I requested evaluation under Jeep’s known corrective actions.”

Driving on the highway at 60 - 65 mph, and almost lost control of the steering. The steering wheel was violently shaking/vibrating, and I had to pull over. It's called the "death wobble" online. I had to get off the highway and drive below 60mph to manage the steering. I went to the dealership, and they "found that excessive movement in both ball joints of the drag link assembly was caused by air being trapped inside the steering damper." Both were replaced. The vehicle had only 47,800 miles and had never been driven off-road.

When going over a bump the jeep goes into a "death wobble". This was fixed approximately 3 years ago. It now has started again.
Jan 07, 2026
For a few weeks prior to 12-21-2025, I've experienced minor Jeep "death wobble" (suspension issue) at highway speeds when encountering an irregularity (bump) in the road surface. On 12-21-2025, I experienced moderate Jeep "death wobble" at around 60 mph (several times). On a desert 2 lane highway, I was seriously in danger of running off the road to the right (crashing into rock faces bigger than the car) or running into oncoming traffic to the left. I was about an hour away from home and was able to reproduce the problem. I found that the issue was minimized if I kept it under 58 mph. Unfortunately, this motivated many drivers to dangerously pass me. The next day, I took it to the local off-road mechanic and they determined it was a worn tie-rod and recommended replacing the tie rod and installing/upgrading the steering stabilizer. From what I have read during my research is that those are band aid approaches to a more serious engineering/design issue with the Jeep Wrangler. I've further learned that Fiat-Chrysler (or the current owner) has continued to address the issue that has been problematic for decades. There are no recalls for my vehicle and the relevant TSBs I could find apply to older models (latest I saw was 2020 JL). However, it's clear the issue has not been resolved on my more current model (2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon JL). The vehicle is available for your inspection.

The jeep goes into a death wobble when it encounters small bumps at speeds above 55mph. It begins shaking violently and forces you to brake quickly. This make it very dangerous to drive on highways or interstates.
Dec 08, 2025
My 2021 Jeep Wrangler has the well known "Death Wobble". Jeep isn't taking this very serious safety concern seriously. When speed increases to 70 mph the jeep shakes uncontrollably and you must slow down almost to a stop to regulate again. This should be a recall! Huge safety issue. If you google jeep death wobble you could read for days how many jeep owners are experiencing this issue. There apparently is a recall for older jeeps, but unfortunately jeep did not fix the issue and the 2021 jeeps are also affected. It's time to put a recall on the 2021 jeep wranglers and fix the death wobble.

I just had the 68C recall done to my Jeep Wrangler 4XE recently. Before the recall, it was running fine. But now, every time I go uphill in electric only mode, the car would suddenly lose power (eg. slowing down from 50 MPH to 20 MPH). Pressing the accelerator does nothing, until I fully depress it, at which point the gas engine would start and the car jerks forward. It's very dangerous with the sudden slow down and speed up for no reason.

Vehicle rear locker light flashing indicating the rear locker was turned on when, leaving a retail shop, and the rear locker engaged in 2WD on its own! No indication prior to this, it came out of the blue. Tried to disengage the rear locker via selector switch but unsuccessful. Any attempts to drive were met with severe jumping and jerking of the vehicle with loud metal banging noises. Tried both reverse and forward as well as putting it in 4WD and then back to 2WD to disengage the locker. Not successful. Vehicle towed to Jeep dealership. Luckily I was in a parking lot and not on the main road. If this happened on the main road at speed, I fear I may have lost control of the vehicle as it was jerking and jumping and the vehicle was uncontrollable which would have put other drivers at risk of collision and possible injury. Dealership has confirmed the issue, replaced the rear locker and sensors in the axle, and the symptoms persist for them too. They are currently looking into the electrical system and computer as the root cause. Chrysler is recommending the dealer replace the rear axle as the only means of fixing the issue. Apparently this is a growing issue that Chrysler has been aware of for several years. Vehicle is currently in the shop at the dealership for troubleshooting.

At 10,400 miles a safety recall was performed on clutch for manual transmission. The dealership replaced clutch bearing, clutch press kit, and other clutch components. After 800 miles were driven (11,200 total miles on vehicle) and after the recall service, the clutch went out again while driving. Dealership is telling me the slave cylinder went out and will need to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shaking erratically. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the failure only occurred while driving over a bump in the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed damper. The contact stated that upon inspection of the vehicle, the dealer informed the contact that the shock absorbers were leaking. The contact was informed that the damper and the shock absorbers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The contact was informed that the failure was known as the death wobble. The contact stated that the failure was present when the vehicle was purchased; however, the shaking had become more aggressive and persistent. Took my vehicle in on 10/16/2023 to the Morgan Hill Jeep store where I bought the vehicle indicating that vehicle was unsafe to drive due to shaky front end suspension. Was told that the tech could not verify my complaint but they replaced the steering damper under a recall. Shortly after, vehicle continued to shake over bumps and uneven pavement to the point that on 06/07/2025 on a 2 hour road trip the shakes became so violent that the car is undriveable. Dropped the vehicle off at the nearest location, Stevens Creek Chrysler Jeep. I have a video taken to show the severity of the issue. Now being told that the repair is not covered under warranty even though it was brought to their attention at 22,778 miles within the warranty period, and various multivehicle inspections were performed during the warranty period after this suggesting no issues. There are many known cases and various lawsuits and extension of warranty periods for this issue for model years previous. I believe my vehicle was built during that period.

I am reporting an ongoing steering/wheel wobble issue with my Jeep Wrangler. While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle suddenly begins to shake severely after hitting small bumps or uneven pavement. The wobble feels like the front end is vibrating uncontrollably, and the steering wheel oscillates left and right. I am forced to slow down significantly to regain control. This has happened multiple times, and the wobble creates a clear safety hazard because the vehicle becomes difficult to steer and maintain in the lane. The issue is unpredictable but tends to occur between approximately 45–65 mph. I have checked tire balance and suspension components, but the problem persists.

Hello, I am writing to escalate an urgent issue involving my vehicle recall and my scheduled shipment. I have paid over three thousand dollars to Montway as my broker, and at this point all involved parties have failed to provide a clear solution. I cannot move forward without immediate support. My Jeep is experiencing a recurring battery recall for the seventh time. This is a product defect that is outside of my control. My vehicle is scheduled to ship through Pasha in the coming days, and the recall must be resolved before drop off. Pasha has informed me that I cannot keep the vehicle at the port before the appointment window, and Montway has not provided any realistic guidance on where the vehicle can be safely held. I hired Montway to help coordinate this process. I paid for professional support. Being told to find a holding location myself while coordinating a safety recall is not acceptable. I need all parties to provide real solutions and support. I need the following: Written confirmation from Jeep that the recall service will be completed at no cost to me and that my VIN is being handled as a priority case. Written confirmation from Montway that my shipment schedule remains active and that I will not be charged additional fees caused by this recall. Clear guidance on the correct next steps for temporary holding or drop off timing so I can comply with Pasha requirements without further disruption. I am not responsible for additional fee that has been involved due to the recall alert from 2 days ago, just a few days before my vessel departs. I have now been informed that I may need to pay additional costs due to delays and complications caused by this recall. I need to make it very clear that I am not responsible for any extra fees related to this situation. This recurring defect is a Jeep product issue and has nothing to do with my actions or maintenance. I should not be financially penalized for a repeated safety failure that is fully docume

My clutch was recalled and I brought it in maybe around 10 times after because the service transmission light immediately came up after the recall fix. After bringing it to jeep for a year and engineers giving me the run around. First they said it was the way I was driving the clutch then after a year they said that the recall was to put a new sensor in and that is why the service transmission light is going on. This cannot be correct because they would have said that from the beginning. It is dangerous because you cannot see anything on the screen when the service transmission light comes up. They do not know what is wrong and are making up excuses after it was in the shop off and on for a year. The way I drive the clutch is normal and should never make the service transmission light go on. It never happened before the recall.i have docume to from all the times it went into the shop.

Jeep has a design defect in vehicles equipped with the 2.0L turbocharged engine where the coolant reservoir is positioned directly adjacent to the turbocharger and turbo heat source with insufficient heat shielding. Due to the constant high heat exposure, the plastic coolant reservoir and/or connecting plastic fittings degrade, warp, and become brittle over time, eventually leading to coolant leaks, erratic coolant temperature readings, and/or sudden coolant loss. This failure often occurs without warning, and many vehicles do not initially trigger a check engine light. In my case, the vehicle exhibited intermittent coolant temperature readings, abnormal fan operation, and heating inconsistencies before the leak was discovered. Multiple repair attempts are frequently made before the root cause is identified. Mechanics often replace components such as the thermostat housing, coolant temperature sensors, or related assemblies, not realizing the coolant reservoir heat damage is the underlying cause. This results in unnecessary repairs, significant consumer expense, and extended vehicle downtime. This defect poses a serious safety risk, as coolant loss can result in: •Engine overheating •Sudden loss of power •Potential engine failure while driving •Increased risk of breakdown in traffic or unsafe driving conditions Numerous owners report similar failures, indicating this is not an isolated incident but a widespread design flaw affecting Jeep vehicles equipped with the 2.0L turbo engine.Jeep has not issued a Technical Service Bulletin or recall addressing the placement of the coolant reservoir or providing guidance to technicians to inspect for heat-related degradation in this area.I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this design defect and require Jeep to issue a Technical Service Bulletin or recall addressing this. The vehicle was properly maintained and not modified and The issue occurred at relatively low mileage.

We leased this vehicle in 2022. About 6 months into the lease the vehicle started acting like it was overheating. My stepdaughter took the car to a mechanic and they said the coolant system shows no signs of a leak. Periodically in the time she had the vehicle these symptoms would occur. Now in the summer of this year the engine seized. She was taking the vehicle to get oil changes on time except for one time she went over the mileage due. Anyway I’ve been trying to work with the dealer about the cost of repairs and who is responsible, but in the meantime I spoke with someone who had the exact same thing happen with his jeep wrangler similar year. Now this guy works at a car auction. Been working around cars. It seems this is pretty common with Jeep Wranglers. Her Jeep has been inoperable for months now.

While operating the 2021 Jeep Wrangler under normal driving conditions, I experienced repeated overheating issues. A high-pitched noise was consistently heard coming from under the hood during operation. Simultaneously, the engine temperature gauge would spike to high, and the infotainment system displayed an engine overheating warning. When the vehicle is started from a cold start - the high pitch is constant. To prevent damage or risk of fire, I immediately pulled the vehicle over and allowed the engine to cool. Upon restarting, the overheating issue persisted, with the temperature gauge rising and falling erratically—up to four times during a 15-minute drive. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership service center for inspection. The following findings were documented: Coolant System: High-temperature coolant reservoir found completely empty. Low-temperature reservoir found low on coolant. Evidence of coolant leakage at multiple coolant line fittings. Engine Block: External head gasket leak observed. Pressure test confirmed leaks in coolant lines. Internal Engine Inspection: Spark plugs were removed and coolant residue was found in the combustion chambers. Cylinder walls showed damage consistent with overheating. Slightly burned valves noted during inspection. Based on the findings above, the engine has suffered critical failure due to overheating and internal coolant leakage. The combination of external gasket leaks, coolant residue in the cylinders, damaged cylinder walls, and burned valves presents a serious mechanical and safety concern. Full engine replacement is required. Estimated cost: $16,000.00 This engine failure may pose a significant safety risk due to: Sudden loss of power while driving, Potential engine fire from overheating, Exposure to steam or hot coolant under hood Risk of engine seizing while on motion.

2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, VIN [XXX] , Recall P0DAB-00 (Hybrid/EV Cell Balancing Performance Case #[XXX], Jeep corporate case manager Tiona. On 8/11/25, I brought my vehicle to Freeland Jeep, Antioch, TN for a separate issue and requested inspection for the open EV battery recall. The dealership gave a “green flag,” confirming no recall impact. On [XXX], the check engine light came on and the vehicle drove unsafely. On [XXX], the exact recall issue (P0DAB-00) was diagnosed — the same issue we asked to be inspected. Approval for hybrid battery replacement was granted; part was ordered for 9/3 with repair by 9/5 — repair never occurred. Service advisor Brian Astorga claimed the part “cannot be located.” Calls/emails to service manager David Beasley and case manager Tiona are unanswered. The timing is highly suspicious: the vehicle failed immediately after the “all clear” inspection, suggesting potential negligence or miscommunication. We are now more than 1 month without a vehicle, which is unsafe and unacceptable. AND we even had to argue with Jeep to cover a rental! Requested Action: Require Jeep to complete the recall repair immediately or initiate a full buyback. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My jeep started leaving me stranded 8 times. The jeep would not start but had warning lights of " service charging system" , with picture of a battery in left of dash, a wrench, engine light, and it won't go into neutral to have it towed. I had it in the shop twice, and they cannot figure out the cause. They did update the computer to cover the recall from automatic combustion. { updated the computer) . It got worse, the car is now cutting off while on. I had it towed to the jeep dealer aging tonight . The dashboard lights do not come onto until after engine failure. This is a hybrid, I was told by Crossroads to keep the vehicle charged but this has not corrected the problem.

My 20214XE Hybrid from the day I bought it was often saying "electric not available" There was a potential fire recall last winter that took four months to remedy, during that time we were told not to charge it, park in our garage, park near our home/structures or park by other cars. I purchase a hybrid that I'm not able to use as a hybrid. Finally, got the repair in the spring. Literally, two months later, it starts doing all kinds of dangerous things. I would come to a stop or be in the middle of a turn and would have no power whatsoever, gas pedal to the floor and going nowhere and then would lunge forward. Took to the dealer, computer said CRITICAL hybrid battery overheating, the original repair clearly didn't work. Eventually, it was approved for hybrid battery being replaced. All was well until 2 weeks ago when it got "jeep death wobble", violently shaking back and forth at about 60mph. They did repair it but informed us that there is ANOTHER RISK FOR FIRE RECALL, do not charge it or park in garage, etc. etc. I have a vehicle that is a risk for BURNING MY HOUSE DOWN, this is multiple times and unacceptable. I also purchased a hybrid that I am not able to use as a hybrid.

The 1st time it happened I was getting on highway and went over a Crack in road and my jeep started vibrating violently. Totally scared me but once I slowed down it stopped so I figured it was a fluke thing. My hubby drove it to Seattle and going 70 he went over grooved pavement and the shaking happened again. Third times a charm at 65 and didn't go over anything and it scared the crap out of me so bad I slowed down to 30 in a 60 in order for it to stop. Immediately contacted dealership and was told it would be hundreds of dollars and it isn't covered under warranty. I bought this Jeep brand new, only has 41,000miles and dont beat her up on off road because she is my daily driver. This violently shaking is scary and this could really do a new driver some harm and needs to be addressed and fixed in ALL Jeep vehicles.

Beginning September 30th I experienced the Death Wobble while driving on the highway. It cause violent shaking of my vehicle. It stopped when i slowed to about 50 MPH, each subsequent day after that it would start shaking when i reached a speed of over 60 MPH. It is currently with the dealer to be repaired. Issues include: steering shock has air, also there is an updated longer shoulder bolt that holds the dampner that should fix the steering wheel shake. They also discovered the shock absorbers leak shock oil. In addition, I have had to replace the auxiliary battery placed 2x since I have bought and it is already draining to low levels, which will prevent the electronic system to work less than 1 year after replacing the battery last. These all are defects to the design and should be recalled as they are safety issues.

1.The vehicle shakes uncontrollably when hitting a bump on the highway at all times. Started with only every now and then. Currently I am unable to drive the vehicle on the highway due to safety concerns. If traveling 50 miles or more, steering wheel shakes and whole car shakes until I slow down. Vehicle is available to inspect and drive to confirm. 2.My safety and that of others is put at risk every time I hit a bump on the highway because I have to step on the brake in order to slow down enough in order to get it to stop. Several times I have had people behind me almost hit me, even when in the slow lane. 3.The vehicle was serviced by the Jeep dealership that I purchased it from I believe 3 times. Each time the problem was not correct even though they claimed they replaced a part. I had an independent mechanic (who we trust: this individual services the police car fleet for the department my husband works for). The repair lasted about a year. The shaking has gotten progressively worse over the last few months and now it always happens when any bump in the road is hit, or over a transition from the road onto an overpass, etc. 4.There are no warnings present.

Multiple failed recalls to stop vehicle High Voltage battery fires. I've already had the battery pack replaced once and now another recall of a software flash (68c) to test the battery cells separators for damage. So again the issue is still there and this is just another band-aid to catch it before it catches fire. This has been a ongoing issue for over a year and the issue is still not properly corrected. Multiple months of no charging, no parking in garage or near other vehicles/structures just to have another band-aid of a software flash, to stop the fire before it starts doesn't make me feel safe enough to put my family in this vehicle or to still want to charge or park anywhere near other vehicles or structures. This is the same process that "fixed" this issue the last time that obviously isn't a fix at all. The new battery they installed in 07/22/25 is just more of the same junk batteries without a proper fix.

I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Rubicon with approximately 23,000 miles. I recently received notice of Recall 68C (high-voltage battery fire risk). Jeep’s instructions say not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors, away from structures, because of potential fire risk. The manufacturer has stated that no repair will be available until at least March 2026, leaving owners unable to safely use or charge their vehicles for months. This recall follows multiple previous recalls and investigations involving fire risk or electrical system failures on the Wrangler 4xe, including earlier campaigns related to the hybrid battery and software updates. The repeated safety issues raise concerns about the overall safety and reliability of this model. My vehicle is otherwise in excellent condition, but I can no longer use it as intended as a plug-in hybrid or safely park it in my garage. Jeep has not offered a timely fix, loaner vehicle, or buyback. I am reporting this because the ongoing risk of fire, coupled with repeated recalls and long repair delays, represents a serious safety hazard that deserves immediate NHTSA attention.

The vehicle has multiple critical, uncorrected safety defects: Loss of Motive Power (RQ24012), Engine Contamination (CSN 78C), and Battery Fire Risk (Recall 68C). Incident Details (R/O [XXX], [XXX]): My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe experienced a sudden and complete Loss of Motive Power while operating. The customer concern noted on the Repair Order states the vehicle "seems to loose power while driving above 30MPH... and feel like it was going to turn off." This failure rendered the vehicle inoperable and created an extreme safety hazard on a major roadway [XXX] ), forcing me to coast to safety. Component Failure and Safety Risk: The failed components are the Engine (2.0L Turbo), Hybrid Propulsion System, and Electric Coolant Heater (ECH). The dealer's repair (R/O [XXX]) confirmed system instability by replacing the ECH. This loss of power is directly linked to the manufacturer's known defect (CSN 78C), where sand contamination in the engine can cause catastrophic failure and unrecoverable loss of propulsion. This mechanical defect is the root cause of the safety risk and is currently under NHTSA investigation (RQ24012). Additionally, the vehicle is subject to Recall 68C (Battery Fire Risk), preventing safe use of the PHEV system and forcing me to park away from structures. The combination of these uncorrected defects puts both my safety and the safety of others at risk. Warning Lamps: A 'Service Hybrid System' light or similar warning message appeared at the time of the incident. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer (Price Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram) and is documented in Repair Order [XXX]. The component is available for inspection upon request. The jeep was taken to the dealership under a software battery recall and the software was updated. One week later while driving at approximately 55mph, there was a sudden jerk in the propulsion system. the car shifted abruptly from electric to gas motor and the electric mode was unavailable. The vehicle jerked and hesitated at every acceleration and deceleration causing unsafe operating conditions . The check engine light was on I returned it to the dealer immediately and was told that the high voltage hybrid battery was bad. I'm pretty convinced from my and other experiences that the software up date was not a remedy to previous incidents reported to you. It was a software patch that determined if the battery was bad.
Feb 16, 2025
The vehicle’s check engine light come on earlier this year and the electric motor/battery was not functioning properly. It was serviced in September and I was told by the dealership that the software update would resolve the issue. It did not. The vehicle was serviced again on 12/13/24 and I was told that it passed the 95B recall test but that the check engine light came back on. The dealership said they ran more tests and now the electric cooling/heating unit needs to be replaced but they won’t have the part for approximately 2 weeks. The electric cooling/heating unit is for controlling climate within the vehicle and should not affect its propulsion. While driving the vehicle the day after I picked it up from the dealership, I was nearly involved in what would’ve been a serious accident. I was turning at an intersection, but the vehicle lost motor function and would not accelerate, leaving me sitting in the intersection with traffic oncoming. Fortunately, after several seconds, the vehicle began to move with not much time to spare. This problem recurred throughout my drive returning home. I have not and will not drive the vehicle again until I am able to return to the dealership for a third time.

I purchased (traded into) a 2021 Jeep Wrangler on October 31, 2024. The vehicle already had an open safety recall (68C) at the time of purchase. Shortly after, the vehicle began experiencing severe and dangerous safety failures. While driving, the Jeep suddenly goes into “turtle mode,” loses power without warning, and drops to 7–12 mph in traffic. The engine light comes on and the vehicle becomes almost undrivable. This creates an extremely hazardous situation where I could be rear-ended or left stranded on the road. This is a serious safety risk to me and to other drivers. I contacted Jeep/Stellantis Recall Customer Care to report the issue. Only after calling did I receive an email telling me I must pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle, even though the vehicle is unsafe and the recall remedy is not available. I immediately responded saying I cannot pay upfront. Since November 25, Jeep/Stellantis has ignored my messages completely. The vehicle remains unsafe, undrivable, and under a recall with no available parts. Jeep has refused to provide a direct-billed rental or any safe alternative transportation. I have been left without a usable vehicle while the manufacturer fails to communicate or offer assistance. This is a major safety defect, and the lack of manufacturer response puts me in danger. If this vehicle loses power in traffic again, it could cause an accident. I am requesting NHTSA intervention because Jeep/Stellantis is not addressing this safety issue, not providing a remedy, and not honoring their recall responsibilities. Symptoms: •Sudden power loss •Turtle mode activation •Speed dropping to 7–12 mph unexpectedly •Engine warning light on •Vehicle unsafe to operate Manufacturer Failure: •Recall 68C remedy unavailable •Denied direct-billed rental •Required me to pay upfront for rental •No response to my communication since Nov 25 •Left me without transportation

I was driving on the freeway, 65mph, in Los Angeles and the '21 Jeep Wrangler 4xe started showing a bunch of error messages telling me to safely pull over, loss of propulsion, etc. I lost power and was unable to drive past 38mph. Upon getting to the end of the off-ramp and before coming to a full stop, the vehicle threw itself into parking gear. I shifted to Park, and it wouldn’t shift out of Park, while I was blocking traffic on the off-ramp, which could have been a dangerous incident. I required a tow truck. There was a Check Engine Light and a 12V battery light while I was bricked. The tow truck was unable to jump start it. The dealer provided a pre-scan report showing stored codes P0607 (ECU Internal Performance) and P1B13 (Park-By-Wire Unintended Out of Park). Refusal to Repair: The dealer just replaced the 12V battery and "cleared the codes" (per their invoice). There is a known TSB 08-054-22 (NHTSA ID 10248015) specifically relating to code P0607 software logic, but they refused to look into it further. I didn’t have confidence in their diagnosis, and when requesting them to do a safety test drive with me, they refused. When I pressed for safety verification, the Service Director told me to “leave the dealership and never come back.” I was genuinely concerned about the safety of this vehicle and their lack of investigative diagnosis, specifically their refusal to verify if the TSB was performed to ensure the Hybrid Control modules have up-to-date software. They refused to offer any help and just told me to “take the vehicle and leave.” I don’t believe it’s normal for a car to lose propulsion from a weak 12V battery while driving. There seems to be a more complicated communication issue (P0607) that is happening, and it very much concerns me as losing propulsion on the highway is very dangerous.

My local dealer has all the documentation on this jeep. It has been into the dealership many times now the check engine light is on for another problem which I am taking it in again this weekend . When I ask the dealer, I’ve been seeing things on Facebook about these jeeps having issues they just filled me full of a bunch of Bull and says every vehicle has issues. I’ve ran the VIN number and found out that mine is one of them that just catches on fire plus sometimes shakes when it’s driving down the road but that’s been minor considering everything else. One time I was driving up the driveway and it felt like the transmission slipped or something. They said it was something in the four-wheel-drive that went out. This is a new vehicle. It has very low miles on it. I’ve had it going on maybe the fourth year now it’s only got 31,000 miles on it I don’t drive it very far. It’s been in the shop several times for recalls or things that’s happened to it. When I first got it, it left me stranded would not start. I’d only had it a few days. It has been a lemon from start to finish. I am terrified to drive it and I don’t have another vehicle. I paid $55,000 for this jeep just a few years ago. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do. I desperately need help if the manufacturer is refunding people’s monies I want to make sure that I get enough money to buy another vehicle because this one is only a few years old and it’s been in the shop numerous amount of times. The other day it shimmied a little bit on the highway and I thought it was the road and now I’m reading that there’s problems with that also, it’s clearly a lemon. But as I said, I’m scared to death to drive it now. The newest development as I’ve said is now the check engine light is on. It’s only been out of the shop for maybe three weeks since they fixed something in the four-wheel-drive which I’ve never even used. I love the looks of this Jeep, but it’s not dependable so I need help.

Put a brand new battery in my vehicle - 3 days later driving on the highway had full loss of power - if said to service the charging system, and to put the car in park, then to press the brake and start button to start the vehicle. Went from 75MPH to 25MPH - rolled off the highway.

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding ongoing and unresolved safety and reliability issues with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe, purchased from Heritage Jeep in Logan, Utah. Since acquiring the vehicle, I have experienced repeated and severe electrical failures, including: The vehicle failing to start on numerous occasions Complete loss of electrical systems (dash, lights, ignition) Batteries failing to hold or receive charge Multiple warning indicators that do not resolve after service attempts These failures have rendered the vehicle inoperable for over 65 days total since the date of purchase. Despite multiple service visits and numerous documented attempts to address these problems, the dealership—Heritage Jeep in Logan—has not been able to resolve the underlying issue. I have retained all service records, work orders, and correspondence to support these claims. This issue not only causes significant inconvenience, but it raises serious safety concerns, especially when the vehicle becomes unresponsive or loses power without warning. I believe this may reflect a defect in the vehicle’s electrical or hybrid system and warrants investigation to protect other consumers. I am requesting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) open a formal investigation into this vehicle and hold the manufacturer and dealership accountable for the ongoing safety risk and failure to adequately repair or replace the vehicle under warranty. I was also in regular contact with Jeep Corporate throughout the ongoing issues, but they stopped responding before a resolution was reached. I have retained all email correspondence documenting those interactions.

The gas indicator indicated that I had 35 miles left to empty, it showed an eighth of a tank still available but completely shut down on me on the freeway. The car completely shut down to the point that I was not even able to pop it in neutral to help roll it to a safer place further off the highway. Fine, the gas gauge is wrong, but not being able to put it in neutral for my own safety and the safety of others is unacceptable.

SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW, IT HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER 14+ TIMES FOR THE BATTERY/HYBRID COMPONENTS. IT CAUSES "A FIRE HAZARD" AND I AM INSTRUCTED TO NOT PARK IT IN MY OWN GARAGE, NEAR OTHER VEHICLES AND IT'D BE BEST TO NOT DRIVE IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN NOT SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEMS PERSIST. RIGHT NOW IT HAS ANOTHER BATTERY/HEATER ISSUE AND IT ISN'T FUNCTIONING PROPERLY, YET I AM TOLD TO DRIVE IT ANYWAY AS THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER WITH NO DATE/FIX IN SIGHT AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO PROVIDE A LOANER INDEFINITELY. MEANTIME, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE, IT'S ALWAYS AT RISK OF CATCHING ON FIRE WHETHER PARKED OR IN DRIVE. MANY OF THESE SAME VEHICLES HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AND PEOPLE ARE BATTLING CHRYSLER/JEEP DAILY. WHEN IS THE SAFETY ENTITY GOING TO STEP UP AND FORCE A BUYBACK FOR THE SAFETY OF THE OWNERS/PASSENGERS? I HAVE A $70000 VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND IS UNSAFE TO BE ON THE ROADS OR PARKED ANYPLACE.

While driving the vehicle shut off and displayed a warning to check battery charging system. I had to deploy emergency flashers and coast into a gas station parking lot. After parking and I was able to restart vehicle after a couple attempts and it ran normally. It has not happened since but very concerning as I was in a 50 mph area when vehicle shut off and was luckily able to safely find a pull off area. I stopped by the local dealer to report the issue but they saw no outstanding recalls or service bulletins so nothing was done.

In the last month my wife and I have 4 experiences with an extreme vibration and wobble in the front end of my jeep while driving on the highway. The vibration is violent and the last time it seemed as if the wheels were going to come off my 2021 Jeep Wrangler. Once I slow down the to a lower speed, 45 mph for example, the wobble stops but it seems to be a problem with many Wranglers based upon my research. I am going to schedule an appointment with a dealer to have this investigated but I have less than 35,000 miles on my jeep and it seems to be a manufacturer issue. There are no warning lights that indicate I may have any kind of problem.

The jeep upon hitting a bump on the right tire on freeway at speeds, right tire goes into a, "death wobble," and violently shakes steering wheel and vehicle like it is coming apart. . Around 60-70 mph. Usually on a left corner and right tire hits a bump. Steering wheel violently shakes. Jeep right wheel violently shakes. Has happened several times till the vehicle gets pulled over to a slow or stop. Once slowed to a crawl or stopped. It stops it. Very dangerous to drive.

The front defroster only blows out of the middle vents, no flow out of the left and right vents, causing issues with visibility in any instance where the window might fog up. I have an appointment with the service department at my local Jeep dealer on 8/02/23. As this is a known issue and there is still no recall to fix the issue I feel a complaint is warranted.

Windshield cracked in the winter at less than 8000 miles due to front window defroster being way too hot. Windshield continues to crack and degrade every time the defroster comes on (automatically with remote start) and has made the windshield unsafe due to impairment of visibility. Jeep denies that there is a problem, though they have been quietly replacing windshields to resolve customer complaints without addressing the safety issue with these.

Windshield defroster does not defrost the edges of the windshield.

My windshield has cracked 2 separate times. I got it fixed by safelife after the first, the second just happened today. Both times I never heard anything hit the window and the crack just appeared. I had a jeep wrangler before this one and never had any issues with the windshield. This one is brand new and has been on the road since Nov 2021 and now has 2 issues. It leads me to believe it is a manufacturing issue. I work from home and don’t drive very often, when I do it’s highway. I just can’t believe that it has cracked twice.

On Tuesday January 6 2026, I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. I noticed smoke coming out the engine. I pulled over to the side of the road to determine the problem. Upon exiting the vehicle, I saw flames coming from the undercarriage of the engine. The fire soon engulfed the vehicle. 911 was called. Police and Fire responded. The vehicle was destroyed in the fire. I have photos and videos of the fire and aftermath, taken once I exited the vehicle. I assume the fire is the result of the recent recall on the battery components of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The vehicle is currently in an impound lot and would be available for inspection upon request. I have notified Jeep and my insurance of the incident, but the jeep has not as of yet, been inspected by either entity. The fire was of great risk to myself. If I hadn't pulled over when I did who knows what might have occurred. In addition I had a full tank of gas so the vehicle could have exploded endangering other people, vehicles, and property. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to the failure. The vehicle had been operating as intended prior to smoke/fire. I have documentation of a service of the vehicle on Wednesday Dec 3, 2025 with Raidon's of Kirkland in which the performed recall services.

After picking up the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4xe from the dealership for repairs to the rotors and struts and bearings, the Wrangler was running roughly. Before I was halfway home, I called the dealer back to explain the engine was running roughly, wasn't able to get over 40mph, and was acting as if it was going to stall or lose power. I stated I needed to bring it back because I wasn't going to be able to drive it like this. Before I got halfway back to the dealership, the Wrangler lost power and was making a noise as if it was going to blow up. I was barely able to get it off the side of the road and narrowly missed a rearend collision from the vehicle behind me. I was on a dark, heavily traveled two lane road during evening work traffic hours. Dealership did send a tow truck. This occurred late October of 2024. The vehicle is still at the dealership and is still not repaired or running as of today 4/25/25 although the dealer says they are working to locate the exact problem. The dealership state after initially suspecting the e-battery, it is an electrical problem but are unable to locate the exact location of the electrical problem. The dealership stated they have opened a ticket with Stellantis and that Stellantis sent a technician to examine the vehicle and determined that is indeed an electrical issue but did not know where the problem was or how to repair. It appears that the Wrangler is not repairable, and it is still under the manufactures warranty of 3 years/36,000. I have included service invoices that show there were 2 other incidents where the Wrangler would not start. In one other incident, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Just before the vehicle lost power, multiple warning lights began lighting up the dashboard, including (believe it or not) a turtle. I am uncertain as to what else came up, it was cold, dark and I was on a heavily traveled road during work traffic hours. A Sheriff's Department deputy did respond to my location.

Vehicle started and put in reverse. after backing up approximately 15 ft, vehicle put into driver and once accelerator was pressed, vehicle stalled. Tried to restart, engines turned over but stalled again after 1 second. Waited 10 seconds and tried to restart again, stalled again 1 second after turnover. Turned vehicle completely off, opened door, waited 30 seconds, tried starting again and system attempted to stat for 5-10 seconds (push to start ignition so I had no control over how long it tried this), but engine would not turn over. Vehicle also could not be shifted out of park (turned vehicle off and tried to put in “On” position without ever depressing the brake). Vehicle now stuck in driveway and unable to be moved. My diesel Jeep Wrangler has had an open safety recall for 12 months (Z96/NHTSA 22V-767), related to the high pressure fuel pump. Jeep/Stellantis continually fails to address this issue and pushes the estimated timeline for repairs months down the road. Every time I call or bring my vehicle in for service, I am alerted to this open safety recall, then told there is no fix available. This recall is potentially life threatening. It has been months & the dealer is still saying there is no fix. I believe they are not giving it the proper attention because this recall affects only Diesel engines & there were not many diesel jeep models purchased compared to traditional gas engine jeeps. There has been an electrical issue with this car since it was purchased in May 2021. The start stop system has always said service it and each time the dealership has said the temperature in the car has to be prime. It still doesn’t work. The key fobs continue to disconnect even with new batteries. The screen at times delays and needs an upgrade. The battery or both batteries even in the summer dies if the car isn’t driven for more than 3 days. We spend more time jumping the vehicle than driving it. It’s a 2021 and only has 35000 miles on it. Why pay for a vehicle that spends more time in the shop than in the driveway?

On [XXX], I was in Fort Lauderdale, FL for vacation with my 2 friends. I was driving for about 20-30 minutes on the road, got on the highway and noticed a rubber smell. I got off the highway. I still noticed the smell did not go away. So I opened the windows & turned off the AC. Then I saw white smoke coming from the vents and smoke coming from the right side of the hood, in front of the passenger side. I proceeded to pull over and parked the car. We exit the car & saw smoke/flames coming from the right passenger side & underneath the car. I called 911. There were no warnings or indications on my dashboard that something was wrong. I got my car serviced a month prior to this fire at a certified Jeep dealership. My car was deemed a total loss by my insurance. This was completely a safety hazard to myself, two friends and the public. Luckily, there was a fire department just a few buildings down. They arrived shortly after the 911 call and put out the fire, preventing further damage to the surroundings. It was terrifying but thankfully we are all safe. FROM JEEP - "An internally failed HV battery could lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage. Customers are advised to refrain from recharging these vehicles and not to park them inside of buildings or structures, or near other vehicles until the vehicle has the final repair completed." First: I live in Philadelphia and DO NOT have the ability to park away from structures, buildings or other vehicles. The jeep 4xe is capable of lighting on fire at ANY POINT and there is nothing I can do to reduce my risk. The recall has been made public since Nov 22,2023 and there is still no lead on a fix nearly 3 months later. Second: These are plug in hybrid vehicles that are of premium cost for the plug in/electric feature. Losing the ability to charge them greatly reduces the use and value of the vehicle. This is by far the worst recall I have ever seen and am dumbfounded that I now sit here nearly 100 days after the recall with no further instruction or lead on a solution. Jeep should be forced to compensate and provide a reasonable alternative until the solution is established.

We purchased our 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4XE/4WD Hybrid in December of 2021. Since our purchase, we've received multiple recall notices which were since resolved. The volume of these recalls has been concerning to us, especially for such an expensive vehicle for which we had an expectation of quality. However, the most recent recall for the High Voltage Battery B9A/NHTSA 23V-787 is a catastrophic problem because we live in an attached townhome community. This exposes us personally to both catastrophic danger AND liability. Secondarily, we paid a hefty premium purchase price for a hybrid vehicle, a function that is lost to us now. We also incurred the considerable expense of installing a charger in our garage, for use with our Jeep Rubicon. We can no longer use this charging station.

I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe – VIN: [XXX] . I previously brought the vehicle in for a recall related to the high-voltage battery. Months later, I received another safety notice instructing me not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors away from structures due to fire risk. This indicates the original recall service did not resolve the defect. My vehicle is currently unable to perform its intended function (EV charging/commuting functionality) and may pose a safety hazard when parked. I am requesting NHTSA oversight to ensure FCA/JEEP provides an available remedy and that owners are informed and supported. My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has now been through three separate recalls for the same high-voltage battery fire risk, each time with the same “software flash” remedy instead of a permanent repair. Recall 24V-111 (04B, Feb 2024): Software update to the Battery Management System (BMS) to detect battery faults. Recall 24V-720 (95B, Sept 2024): Reissued for the same defect, again using only a software update. Recall 25V-741 (68C, Oct 2025): A third campaign for the same issue, described once more as a “software flash followed by replacement if needed,” though parts are still unavailable. Each campaign cites potential separator damage inside the battery cells, which can lead to thermal events and fires. Despite multiple “fixes,” Stellantis has never provided an actual hardware remedy or replacement plan. Owners continue to be told to park away from structures and avoid charging their vehicles. More than a year after the first battery recall, the manufacturer still cannot supply a permanent remedy, exceeding the “reasonable time” requirement under federal safety law. I am filing this complaint because repeated software-only updates have not corrected the defect and the vehicle remains at risk of fire. NHTSA oversight is needed to ensure Stellantis provides a true, lasting fix rather than another temporary software patch.

I would like to express a concern with how Jeep is handing the issue with the hybrid batteries in the Wrangler 4XE. I'm connected with the 4XE across the US and Canada and I am seeing issues with how they are addressing the potential for fires in the batteries. In my case, my Jeep was initially part of the B9A recall but was removed from the list. I was on the 04B recall list and had that update performed. A few months later, my battery triggered the P0BBD code that indicated that I needed a new battery. We have seen this trend in the 4XE community where someone who wasn't on the B9A list ended up having a battery issue. Some of these instances include Jeeps that were on the 04B list but had yet to receive that update because Jeep communicated that it was a "defrost" recall without telling customers that they were receiving the same updates that were included in the B9A. So some people are putting off a very important recall because they believe it is just a defrost recall. After I had my battery replaced, the latest 95B recall was issued. My Jeep is on this recall list even though I just had a new battery installed. It would sure seem like the issue with the separators in the battery would have already been known when my new battery was installed. To me, that is an unsafe mishandling of the situation to put a known faulty battery in during a replacement. I do not feel that Jeep is handing these battery issues well and I believe they need some sort of accountability in place to make sure they are truly resolving the issue and not putting band aids on a major issue. We have tracked some data in the 4XE community and are aware that way more batteries were impacted than Jeep announced would be. As well, many batteries have had to be replaced after the recall. This tell me that either Jeep isn't being very forthcoming with the data or they just don't know the correct method for addressing this matter. We need something done before someone gets hurt or killed.

Attempted to pull onto highway and lost propulsion. Dash lights lit up. The vehicle was powered off and upon starting it back up it multiple times it displayed the “service charging system” error. I was ability to limp home with limited propulsion and had the vehicle towed to the dealer on 8/8/2024. Dealer was great to work with and stated that the vehicle needed a new HV battery. The processing time for the part was 10-14 days after approval from Stellantis engineering. 8/29 still no vehicle, but was told that the part would arrive this week. 33k miles 2021 Wrangler Sahara 4xE

After charging my vehicle, I received a “Service Charging System” followed by a check engine light. I tried to shift gears from P (parking) to R (reverse) and it wouldn’t let me. When I finally got it to drive, my vehicle was only throwing hot air and it wouldn’t accelerate. I was going about 20 miles per hour and it loss all the speed. When I got to the light and tried to accelerate again, it moved for like 10 seconds and I wasn’t able to accelerate again leaving me stopped at the intersection for about 30 seconds. Once I was able to move again, my vehicle would stall.

Same issue as the last time, and the time before that. Very dangerous, battery completely fails. The instrument meters are wrong and it shows that there is gas when there is really not any gas. Also more recently, we were driving on the highway in the express lane in the car just suddenly came to a stop. We could have died - luckily there was no one behind us. I managed to get the car over partially into the other lane so people could go around. The car had to be towed and I’m done paying for this.

Vehicle loses power without warning. This has occurred numerous times, twice on a crowded freeway when I had to navigate across 5 lanes of traffic. Dealer was unable to isolate and repair the problem the first time. Vehicle is in for repair again. An internet search indicates this is not uncommon and at least two class action suits are pending. I'm shocked this life threatening fault has not already been reported to the NHTSA. Repair codes are : P1E1D control module improper wake up performance, U1817 Lost communication with hybrid powertrain control module on D-PT, U0293 confirmed, lost communication with hybrid control module.

I have no technical no-how with cars so I will describe as best I can. We have a brand new 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe--bought it one month ago--and two weeks in, while driving, the check engine light came on. We were out of town so called the local dealer but they could not see us for three weeks. So we researched the issue and thought it could be a loose gas cap etc. We did some trouble shooting but nothing changed. Then, while driving, the entire dash lit up with various warnings, including the hybrid warning, and it just shut down. We were next to a parking lot and coasted in. Through a series of actions we were able to get it driving again and made it to another dealership. When we arrived all signals were gone and they could find no trouble codes to check. We were able to drive back home and we thought maybe it was the loose gas cap issue. We would have taken it into the dealership as a precaution, but service appts are weeks out. And it drove fine for several days. Then our daughter was driving it on an extremely busy and dangerous road. Luckily she'd just turned off it into our neighborhood--but she was still driving at a decent speed--and all of a sudden all the warning lights came on again, including the hybrid signal, and the car completely shut down on her. Stopped mid-drive and mid-road. We now have had it towed to the dealership. We have also read all the similar stories now with Jeep 4xes and have serious concerns about the extent of this issue and thus the safety of the vehicle. The dealership can't look at it for weeks, but we have already contacted sales to see what they can do. I feel like it could take months to work out what is happening here--especially with service backups--and I do not feel safe with any of our family members doing a back and forth on this until we find out that a serious recall in underway.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The contact stated that the “Shift to Park and Restart" message was displayed. The contact's wife was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road and restarted. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, but no failure was found. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

While climbing a mountain pass between 2000' and 2500' MSL and passing some vehicles at approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and multiple warning lights illuminated. These included: Service Electronic Throttle Control, Check Engine Light, Automatic Emergency Brake system failure, Adaptive Cruise Control system failure. After the initial power loss, the engine seemed to partially recover and could be driven below 60 mph until the vehicle was shut down and restarted. There were no signs or warnings of any impending failure. The coolant, engine oil, and transmission temperatures were well below the published limits. The danger was the power loss was sudden, unexpected, and at a critical time when passing large trucks and in the vicinity of heavy traffic with no emergency parking available. This reported event is the fourth time it has occurred. The vehicle has been taken to the dealer to repair it, and the dealers have attempted three times to fix it (all three times dealer fixed something different). All three times they reported the issue had been fixed, yet it has re-occurred after each time. It is currently scheduled for a fourth dealer visit.

The actual malfunctioning issue is UNKNOWN. However, my best explanation is as follows: While driving my new 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (which only has 1400 miles), on the highway at roughly 70 miles per hour and going up a hill, the vehicle felt as if it were trying to up-shift a gear but then immediately down-shift a gear. This up-shift and down-shift feeling continued in quick repetition over and over in a violent shaking manner that thrust the entire vehicle forwards and backwards as long as I continued the acceleration up the hill. Letting off the accelerator seemed to end the violent shaking. I pulled over on to the side of the highway to stop, and turned off the Jeep since the check engine light came on. I waited about five minutes and started up the Jeep again. The check engine light was still on, though. Any acceleration at any speed now causes the Jeep to violently thrust forwards and backwards like I experienced on the highway. I tried to get Jeep Roadside to tow the Jeep to a dealership, but learned how worthless this Jeep Roadside program truly was. Several days after this incident, and I still do not have my Jeep at a dealership for repairs, nor do I have a rental. Jeep Roadside refuses to tow my Jeep to a dealership that has a rental, and I cannot afford to pay the towing fee's to get to a dealership with a rental. The nearest dealerships tell me they are six to eight weeks out on loaner vehicles. I'm too worried to try and driving my Jeep the distance to reach a dealership with a rental, cause it is way too unsafe to operate this Jeep with the violent shaking. I'm curious if anyone else is having this same issue, or knows more.

was driving on the freeway about 65mph-70mph when suddenly the Jeep started the shake tremendously. Luckily there was no traffic, and I was able to pull over and stop the car immediately. this is a big safety concern as it made it hard to control and traumatizing for the driver. cars should not do that. We are scheduling an appointment to ensure nothing is broken. No warnings were shown when the incident happened.

Death wobble. At highway speeds, triggered by varying degrees of uneven spots on the road. Severe steering and control instability. Sometimes the vehicle shaking is extremely violent. Must coast down to a varying speed, sometimes down to 65-45mph for the wobble to cease. Happened multiple times, pre- and post-warranty.

Persistent death wobble vehicle is stock with no modifications. Driving at 65 on the highway a single small bump will cause violent shaking of the steering wheel and the front end. Every time the issue persist without resolve.

On Jan. 27, 2023, I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (31,440 miles on the odometer) on the interstate, going about 65-70 mph in high volume traffic. Suddenly my right front tire started wobbling like it was going to fall off! I have never experienced anything like this. I was extremely frightened, fearing I might have a wreck or cause someone else to wreck if control of my Jeep were lost. My heart beat sped up, my hands clinched the steering wheel. I was able to slow down and the wobble went away but my anxiety did not go away. It happened about 4 more times that day on the interstate. I was traveling and concerned about my safety and that of others. I was also concerned about what was happening with my Jeep, how could I fix it, COULD it be fixed, and how was I going to pay for it. I thought the front end of my Jeep needed to be re-aligned so I took it to the dealership I bought it from, they inspected it and said it did not alignment. Said the Jeep had developed a "wobble." I was told that parts to fix this issue were not available in the U.S. and they had no ETA on when/if a part would be available. They took my phone number and said they would call if something changed. Now I have a Jeep that I am afraid of - actually terrified of. I only drive on the city streets and stay away from the interstate. My life has been limited in so many way because of this issue. I was not issued any paperwork on this problem.

I made appointment with Galena Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat, Fort Myers, FL for May 4, 2023 at 9 AM to repair the Frame Stud defect (28A/NHTSA 23V-191) on this vehicle. After having received no communication from this dealer after 5 days, I went to pick up the vehicle the evening of May 8, 2023 and discovered no attempt to remedy this defect had been made. My plans are to drive this vehicle from FL to WI for the summer months later this week. Besides making you aware of this situation, I want to have it on the record that I attempted to have the defect remedied in the event it is involved in a motor vehicle accident and would catch fire.

I just inspected my side panel windows before driving on the road, I had been on the highway for about 10 minutes going about 65pmh when I started to slow down for my exit and my passenger side soft top panel blew off into the highway. A few cars ran it over, I risked my life to retrieve it. Had there been a motorcyclist behind me I’m certain they would have died, as this incident caused others to move trying to avoid the panel as it blew up in the air. My soft top was back at the time, I can’t believe this happened to me and now I’m terrified to drive on the highway even if I replaced this panel. I feel it’s a huge safety risk, I’ve found many other complaints in blogs and on Facebook about it. I also noticed that the passenger panel is double the price of the driver side panel which tells me companies are making $$ of this risk.

I have a 2021 jeep wrangler and the brake hose went on the driver front side. Mopar product ID is 68307451AH. I have called numerous dealerships and Mopar themselves. They informed me this hose is on backorder for over 841 jeeps, and they are unable to get this across the US. Knowing how many jeeps are needing this hose, is it possible to get a recall on it due to the fact it is imperative to fix right away? I was casually driving home from work in a 35 MPH zone on a standard road. When my 2021 jeep wranglers 4xe (30,000 miles exactly) ABS, and electronic brake stabilizer warning lights came on. I touched the brake and they were non-responsive. I then continued to press the brakes all the way to the floor multiple times and there was no response. I was able to pull the emergency brake to bring the vehicle to an immediate halt in the middle of the road and have a tow truck come ASAP. Service the next day said all the warning lights are gone and that they do not see any history of the errors. This issue posed extreme risk for myself and my pregnant wife. The car is still at the service specialist as i requested additional diagnosis be performed.

Recent recall 95B was performed December 15th, 2024 on my Jeep 4xe. The vehicle passed the road test involved with the safety recall to detect a defective high voltage battery. On December 26th, within 100 miles of the recall test being performed, the vehicle cruise control involuntarily shut off, check engine light illuminated and the vehicle lost power on the freeway. We were able to return home with the vehicle lurching while driving, having erratic acceleration from a stop and pushing through braking. The issues continued a few days later when delivering to the Jeep service center and the Jeep died in the service lane and had to be pushed the rest of the way to the service bay. The "fix'' that Stellantis has provided seems to simply later detect the battery issue that the recall test was designed to detect under their care during the test procedure. There are numerous other 4xe owners that I am aware of that are having the same post-test failures and motive power losses in traffic soon after their vehicle 'passed' the battery test. This 'solution' is causing a dangerous situation for the owners and the general motoring public. The Jeep has since been reevaluated and determined that the battery that the recall was intended to detect is indeed defective and is being replaced.

I was leaving my home on July 25th. Suddenly when turning onto the freeway approach. The car battery light turned on. Then suddenly a Red Turtle came on dropping my speed instantly from 35 to 5 MPH. I was able to barely avoid an accident by throwing the steering wheel to the right moving out of traffic. Had this been about 1000 feet further along, things could have been dangerous. I had the car towed to the dealership.... where they informed me this is the hybrid battery.... an issue that I have had now 4 times with this vehicle and was supposed to be fixed. It has been in the shop for over 2 weeks.

Recall (B9A) has been out since November of 2023. The recall states "An internally failed HV battery could lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition on or off. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage." As of today, no 'remedy' is available. In the mean time, can't charge the car. Driving the car would seem to be 'unwise' as the risk seems to be with the 'ignition on or off'. Can't park the car in my garage. Can't drive it to work as my employer doesn't want the liability should an issue arise. Been waiting patiently for a remedy - so far nothing but static.

My 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe died while driving down the road. Luckily I was able to coast to the side and cycle the engine off/on in order to regain power. This was the exact same issue that is described in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V865000, however, this time (2/3/23) was after the ZB7 recall was completed. Even after the recall work was completed and Jeep told me the vehicle was safe to drive, it still failed in the exact same manner. The recall procedure did not work and this vehicle is not safe to drive. Additionally, during the period after the recall was completed and before it died again while driving, the battery range has decreased dramatically (less than 50% of what it was prior to the recall work).

Metal chunks found in engine oil, and as were not metal powder swirl, shavings, or specs, possibly from bottom engine crankshaft. At the crank pulley, with the belt off, I could feel nudge by hand from the middle, for an engine component with max specified endplay 0.012 inches, or fraction of a millimeter. An existing manufacturer recall, and not a safety recall, for this 2021 Jeep Wrangler 2.0L Turbo is inspection for loose bolts for water pump inlet. This vehicle will not be available for inspection requests, because it is still not, and waiting to be, diagnosed as the dealer could not necessarily hear an engine issue. I have heard it knock, like a rumbling V8 and turbo whined, and recently I decided to strain the old and knocking oil that I kept and discovered metal. There was something wrong all along. Top engine, with good gas mileage, has been fine. The safety concern to this vehicle is metal in oil to possibly enter top engine and create sudden or instant engine seizure while in operation. The safety of driver or others could be at risk. The safety concern to this vehicle is also the detioration of engine components since they appear under the sole discretion of this motorized vehicle. This means, no other factor known to the driver of this vehicle by which rate of engine detioration has occurred. An indicating observation to be made into this vehicle's safety is the endplay of the crankshaft. This vehicle is nearly 97,000 miles odometer. The endplay seems very excessive, causing me to speculate on original factory fitment and installation during assembly. What determinations into a non-safety recall of loose water pump bolts might emerge as consideration into engine interior deterioration, as rate of this deterioration appear under sole vehicle discretion and remain unknown to the driver. Insufficient cooling is known to cause buildup in any engine, this vehicle has burped coolant air. No warning lights in the dash was seen.

Two issues that I want to make known. First is a classic jeep issue with the death wobble. I currently have the jeep back in the shop for the current recall and having them fix the wobbling again. This would be the second time that it has happened. worried because the warranty is about to expire. Next is a problem that I almost forgot about until recently because I started driving a rental jeep wrangler. With my jeep, when I have the adaptive cruse control on, it some times thinks there is a car in front of me when it is in the next lane, and right in the middle of the highway, my jeep tries to stop because there is a car next to me in its own lane. This has been going on for a while now but i have never gotten it looked at because of the cost. im going to have both issues looked at during the recall because my extended warranty is ending and im worried that if i dont get it fixed now, im going to have to pay more in the future. Side notes about my jeep, it was a buy back before I purchased it. Was supposedly fixed. At around 10k miles I had a radiator issue and then needed to have a complete engine replacement. With both of these battery recalls, I have had to get a new battery. Im about to get by 3rd. There has also been hvac issues fixed in the past. I tried to contact jeep about another buy back, but they denied the claim without even talking to me. Currently working on trying to actually talk to someone.

I was driving 72 miles per hour on 4 lane highway and the steering wheel and front end of the jeep was vibrating uncontrollably. The cruse control stopped working, i applied the brake and was able to slow down and pull over to the side of the road. No flat tires so I pulled back on to the highway and arrived at my destination without further incident. 10-24-25 The same thing happened last week but i thought maybe the lane assist went off because there were no road lines (newly repaved road) but my Jeep doesn't have lane assist. After researching on line I believe what occurred is what they call "Death wobble" there were no bumps in the road - the road is in good condition so I'm not certain what prompted the death wobble.

TIRES
3 complaints
The tread on all 4 tires wore down faster than it should have, traction in the rain and snow was terrible, tire rotations were done at home, balancing was done at my local shop in town. I had the LT285/70r17 and replaced them as soon as the recall came out. I had the tires replaced at Moffits Ford in Boone, Iowa. They disposed of them there. I would like to know how to go about reimbursement for these tires I spent so much money on.

We purchased our Jeep brand new in January 2021. Tire Details: Bridgestone Dueler A/T, Size 255/70R18, Load Index: 133T, Speed Rating: M+S, DOT/Tire ID#: 93XJ RHF 4820. In November 2022, we experienced a catastrophic sidewall blowout of the passenger side front tire while driving 75-80 mph in the high speed lane on I-75. We were instantly warned by the dashboard automatic tire pressure monitoring system. The tire pressure dropped from normal to zero in a matter of 100 yards. This warning saved our lives. To this day, I still don’t know how we got the Jeep safely over to the emergency lane on the right side of I-75 during high traffic. Key point to note – we only had approximately 30,000 miles on our tires at the time of the incident. We called Florida’s Road Rangers who put our spare tire on the vehicle. When we got to our destination, we took it to the Okeechobee Jeep Dealer. The Service Manager and Mechanic both said they had never seen a sidewall blown out like this tire. They recommended we contact Bridgestone to notify them of a safety complaint and possible monetary credit. At their recommendation we took detailed pictures of the blown tire. The Dealer pitched the blown tire as we had a car full of luggage. We purchased a new Bridgestone tire from this Jeep Dealer at that time as we did not want to ride around with no spare. We were not sure of the integrity of the remaining 3 tires. We contacted Bridgestone, Ref # 1387342. After talking to a series of Reps, they seemed indifferent about this unsafe event and said they could do nothing on the tire warranty since we did not go to an authorized Bridgestone dealer. A Rep said if we had the original tire they would warranty it, but the pictures would not suffice! I came away with the sense that Bridgestone does not have any concern about their tire safety. They never asked for the pictures or the DOT/Tire Identification number. They did not stand behind their tires from a warranty aspect.

While driving down a paved rural road, the tire pressure light illuminated. Pulled vehicle over to the side of the road and right rear tire was flat. Vehicle had 2100 miles on it. Did not drive over any objects, and did not impact sidewall at all. Tire just failed.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The hybrid-electric system, including the high-voltage battery, battery pack control module (BPCM), and associated cooling systems, repeatedly malfunctioned. These failures caused loss of power while driving, electrical odors, and error messages. The vehicle is currently at the dealership for service and is available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The vehicle has lost power multiple times while in motion, including on city streets and highways. These unexpected power losses significantly increased the risk of rear-end collisions and limited my ability to safely accelerate or steer in traffic. I have had to take anxiety medication when driving the vehicle due to fear of these events recurring, and I am deeply concerned about the safety of my family, including a newborn passenger. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The issues have been confirmed by an authorized Jeep dealership on multiple occasions. Despite several recall campaigns and attempted repairs, the same power loss and electrical system problems have recurred. Service advisors and technicians acknowledged the problems and attempted component replacements and reprogramming, but the malfunctions persist. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected and serviced exclusively by an authorized Jeep/Chrysler dealership (Autonation CDJR in Roseville, CA). There is no indication that FCA/Stellantis corporate has physically inspected the vehicle beyond dealership reports. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. Warning lights and messages su

Unpredictable complete loss of power steering that will continue until the brakes are applied and speed is reduced to approximately 30 mph and voltage level spikes, as high as 16.3 volts as shown on the instrument panel. It is not temperature related. When disabled it requires two hands and extreme strength to turn, especially when taking an off ramp. Voltage level is typically ranging between 12.7 - 13.7 volts during normal conditions as well as when in no power steering conditions. The first trip 3-4 months ago to the dealership and the only finding was a corroded ground loop which did not solve the issue. After no success begging for a loaner car we left the Jeep 19JUN25 while on vacation for second trip this week. I requested them to contact Stellantis STAR Center and this is the report: 24JUN25 Good morning - our STAR case engineer pointed us in the direction of a similar STAR publication that we had followed the last visit. I did not find any faults within the charging system or any voltage regulators at this point. There were 5 labeled grounds in this publication that were common for building up corrosion. The ground that is on the frame near the driver rear close to the 48v battery had a large amount of corrosion. He cleaned up each ground and applied dielectric grease yesterday, so now I am having him take on a few test drives to see if the issue persists. I have a video of the spike leading to steering reengagement but unable to upload it.

Driving down the road and ALL the warning lights came on at the same time. They were flashing across the dash one at a time. We got a sway bar warning, an airbag warning, check engine light came on and then all of the sudden we lost power steering. It took all my husband's strength to control the vehicle when the power steering went out. We had to maneuver to the side of the road. If I had been driving, I fear what would have happened. We had the vehicle taken to our local dealer. Darcars Chrysler Plymouth and Jeep in Waldorf MD. The service technician there said he had no idea what was wrong and it would take several days to get it looked at. We took to the internet to research our issue. We found over and over people with a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon from model years 2019-2021 having the same issues. The issue turns out to be a problem with the "wiring harness". The Jeep forums online have documented instances of this problem by many, many people. Jeep should be forced to recall these wiring harnesses since they won't do a voluntary recall. This is a dangerous defect. Our vehicle has 6,000 miles on it. Our vehicle is available to inspect at the dealer. Someone is going to die if this defect isn't addressed.

This is about the new Jeep Rubicon 4XE Hybrid Wrangler. We were traveling slowly on a dirt road in our new Jeep. Suddenly it began to slow down and it stopped. It would not move any further. The shifter was frozen in Park. Lights and warnings were illuminated on the dash that were not on before this happened. We were in a wilderness and had no cell reception whatsoever. It would not start, drive or otherwise move. Eventually someone came by and took us into a small town where we called the dealer for assistance. They told us to call Jeep Roadside Assistance. We came close to having to spend the night out there in 40 degree weather with no ability to walk out 14 miles in total darkness. The Jeep was towed to the dealer where it remains 7 days later. It has 183 miles on it. Purchased it on May 29 and it broke down on June 2. The failure seemed to be electrical and across the board. It is the 4XE Hybrid, and the internet is littered with stories just like ours of this Jeep failing and stranding people or stopping on freeways or in intersections. We don't think it was ready for market when they introduced it for sale.Had this happened on a freeway it could have been disasterous for us and others around us.

When driving above 50mph, when I drive over a road seam, the car shakes almost uncontrollably. I have to slow down to make the car stop shaking. I have brought the car to Jeep service THREE TIMES in a period of 12 months. Still having the same issue. It is very dangerous. I cannot rely on this car (only 3 years old) to drive on a highway. Very dangerous!!

While turning at low speeds (pulling into a parking spot) and the cruise control is turned on the "set cruise" button is elevated and can be accidentally hit. If the speed of the vehicle is under 20mph it will automatically set the cruise speed to 20mph causing the vehicle to accelerate. This elevated "set cruise" button actives the regular cruise and not the adaptive cruise. This has happened to me over a dozen times. I am lucky it has not caused a wreck.

My 2021 Wrangler began experiencing a violent shaking and reduction of steering control in July 2023. The violent shaking would begin if my vehicle hit a bump while traveling at 65 mph or more. To regain control, I would have to brake and reduce speed to under 65mph (which also is extremely dangerous to do on a freeway). Thunder Jeep in Bartow, FL replaced a broken steering component that temporarily fixed the issue. The issue has now returned in late January 2024. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle.

When coming to a stop and electric power is depleted, the vehicle will engage the gas engine and accelerate through a brake. I have to fight the vehicle to come to a complete stop because the engine is pulling me forward through the brake. Due to the unpredictability of the braking system, I must leave a greater stopping distance than required and have almost been in accidents. CAUSE UNKNOWN. I believe the powertrain, engine, and braking systems are involved. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership shop several times for this problem, and one software update was offered to try to fix the issue, but the issue is ongoing. Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

The incident occurred when I attempted to shift the transfer case into 4-Low. The sequence of events is as follows: 1. I stopped the vehicle and shifted into Park. 2. With my foot on the brake, I shifted into neutral and attempted to move the transfer case lever from 4-High, to 4-Low. 3. As I started to move the transfer case lever, a warning appeared in the instrument cluster stating, "Vehicle speed too high to shift". 4. Auto-Park engaged 5. The engine, uncommanded, with my foot still on the brake, began to increase in revs slowly. 6. Check engine light illuminated, the engine continues to increase in revs. 7. When the engine reached 6-7k RPM, I hit the engine start/stop button and held it down until the engine turned off. The engine was still climbing in revs until this point. 8. I restarted the engine and could shift into 4-Low successfully. "Off-road cruise control disabled" warning light illuminated and remained on until I shifted back into 4-High. Check engine light remains on after multiple starts.

When driving on the highway any bump in the road triggers the vehicle to shake uncontrollably. (front end and steering wheel) Problem does not correct itself until I have to get into the emergency lane and fully stop. I feel this is not safe nor something normal. This happens quite often. Too often. Every time I drive. Dealership states that this may be "damper shock" not covered by warranty. Any information online that I can find states that this is a common defect in Jeep Wranglers making them unsafe for highway driving if the part is defective.

Driving on the highway and hit a bump, Jeep started violently shaking/vibrating (Death Wobble), almost lost control with cars on both sides of my Jeep. The vibration after hitting a bump has happen several times the past two months. Jeep dealership states, vehicle needs a new steering damper/stabilizer. The part is on back order, dealerships can only order so many per week due to the demand/problem with Jeeps. It could take 2-3 months to be fixed and vehicle can not be driven. This also happened with my 2018 Jeep Wrangler.

Vehicles tires and steering wheel begins to shake violently at speeds in the 50+ mph range on the highway. Condition occurs after hitting a small bump on the highway. I have taken it in and they replaced the steering dampener and it did not resolve the issue at all.

While driving at highway speed on November 11, 2025, my 2021 Jeep Wrangler experienced a sudden and complete electrical failure without warning. A “Battery Saver Mode” message appeared, and within seconds multiple safety systems began shutting down. First Failure: While driving on the highway and exiting, the vehicle abruptly lost power steering, ABS, stability control, airbag system, exterior lighting, dashboard displays, and engine power. Multiple warning lamps illuminated at once. Steering and braking became extremely difficult, creating an immediate safety risk. I was able to coast to a stop and park. The vehicle then appeared stable and the messages cleared. Second Failure: After restarting the vehicle, the warning reappeared. While driving on a major high-traffic roadway, the vehicle experienced a total electrical shutdown in active traffic and would not restart. Third Failure: A towing service attempted to jump-start the vehicle; it briefly powered on, illuminated nearly every warning light, then immediately shut down again with the radiator fan running at full speed. The electrical system continued to collapse and the vehicle required a full tow. Inspection and Diagnosis: The dealership confirmed a complete alternator and charging system failure at approximately 36,419 miles. This failure occurred at only 4 years of age, which is unusually early for an alternator or charging system failure. The vehicle’s original battery also failed unusually early (at only 2.5 years old) without warning, which may have been an early indication of a charging system issue. The vehicle is lightly used, garage-kept, never off-roaded, and regularly maintained. The sudden loss of steering assist, braking assist, airbags, lighting, and engine power at speed and in high-traffic areas created an extreme safety risk for myself and others. This appears to be a premature electrical system failure and may relate to broader charging system concerns reported in similar vehicles.

Driving at approximately 50 MPH, I lost power steering and the indicator/warning lights on my dash, including ABS, were all lighting up or seemingly resetting. I was able to limp it home when I regained power steering about 20 feet from the driveway. So at the moment, it's not possible to observe the issue. Loss of power steering at that speed to a less experienced driver than myself, such as one of my children could have proven catastrophic. I am currently having the vehicle towed to the dealership. There was no prior indicator or warning before the incident occurred. ~ I did a quick search on what the problem could be and found this video on youtube (not mine) which shows almost exactly what happened to my vehicle ... https://youtu.be/Sewnurqrzq4 (I know clicking links isn't always allowed, so what I searched youtube for was "2021 jl loss of power steering and all warning lights on" and the video was the first result uploaded by a user by the name of Robert Ballard. The video name is "2018 Jeep JL Unlimited Rubicon Electrical Issues" and was uploaded Jun 25, 2019. )

After 30 mins of park mode, all lights went away. Towed it to dealership. They ordered a part, and is still stuck at dealership, since 15 days. Used my judgement & managed to safely coast and avoided risk of any incident. Turtle sign, and i think and something with battery verbiage popped up. Couldn't take an image as was in reactive mode. Parked and turned off the engine, called tow truck. After coming back from home waiting on a tow truck, turned on the car. All lights gone. Dealership found DTC's , crown jeep dublin perimeter drive, but couldn't recreate as per my knowledge, at this time. I am hoping dealership might fix my car soon. I am reaching out to let you know the recall countermeasure didnt fix the issue. Please push jeep for a permanent hard countermeasure, not a band aid. It's not just a severe inconvenience, but major risk for accidents on road. Dealership told me other cars came in for similar issue, due to OTA update for 24my and 25my 4xe's, and it was not applied on my car 21MY. Thanks

Vehicle check engine light illuminated along with multiple other lights on the dashboard. It had a difficult time accelerating on its own, very sluggish. At the next light the gas pedal was just tapped and the vehicle began to over accelerate increasing to over 30 MPH in a turning lane while crossing an intersection. Avoided a car accident and pulled into the nearest parking lot. That was the second time that type of incident occurred. The first time, the vehicle was self accelerating during 5 o’clock traffic in Los Angeles. We had to constantly press on the brakes only to avoid accidents until we could exit the freeway.

While driving the 'service shifter' warning will flash and once this happens the steering locks up and the car shuts down. This primarily happens when hitting a bump, pot hole, railroad tracks, etc. After the warning flashes and the steering locks up, every light on the dash comes on as the car is shutting down. The vehicle is in the shop for the 3rd time within 9 months for the same issue. The dealership replaced the star link connector saying that was the issue but it is still occurring. The vehicle is currently in the shop with this issue and they are saying there is nothing wrong and 'no codes being thrown.' We have had this happen at least a dozen times on us while driving. A handful without hitting a bump or one of the specified causes. Once this happens, the car become immobile and has to be towed. The first time this occurred was within 10 days of purchasing the vehicle; it started happening in January and is still occurring. After the dealership 'fixes' it, the issue will not occur for a couple of months then it will happen again.

After a period of 10 minutes in stop-and-go traffic, a shift warning light indicated on the warning panel. All the lights for the gear shift lever would light up individually. The vehicle turned off the stability control system and indicated a warning to proceed driving however the vehicle may not be able to shift into park. After about 3 miles of driving, it felt like the power steering stopped working and it was extremely difficult to control and turn the vehicle. It also felt like the vehicle would not shift properly. Once the vehicle was to the side of the road, it indicated that the vehicle was not in park despite moving the gear shift lever to park. The vehicle would not turn off of accessory mode. Had whatever happened to the power steering happened at any higher rate of speed, the vehicle would have been impossible to control in a turn or traffic. It took every bit of arm strength to coax the vehicle to the side of the road.

I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Unlimited, which has undergone three manufacturer recalls and two separate service (one handle during a recall visit) visits due to charging failures. The recalls were related to defrost system malfunctions, sudden loss of motor power, and high-voltage battery concerns. Each of these issues was addressed solely through **dealer-installed software updates**—updates that could not be completed over the air. These recalls and service visits highlight a troubling pattern: the vehicle’s core systems—including the BPCM, IDCM, PIM, TCM, and HCP—are deeply interconnected and dependent on one another. So far, my vehicle has required a total of **10 software updates**, with some systems needing multiple revisions. Most recently, Jeep addressed a “not charging” problem by once again performing a software update—this time affecting **five of the seven systems previously updated during recalls**. Despite the problem originating from their software architecture, Jeep charged me **$200 for the update**, even though it stemmed from an issue caused by their failed over-the-air deployment strategy. These recurring failures are not isolated incidents—they represent a systemic flaw within the vehicle’s hybrid management and safety systems. Relying on repeated software patches to resolve critical defects is not only unsustainable—it’s creating **unsafe driving conditions** and placing an unfair burden on the owner.

- Auto stop / start "feature" failed at restarting the engine. - At an intersection, waiting to turn left and for a gap in oncoming traffic, the auto stop feature engaged. Upon an opportunity to proceed, the vehicle did not restart and left me stranded with traffic on coming. Luckily, the approaching vehicle was able to stop - else I would of been t-boned, hitting the passenger side with my wife in the seat. - The only warning was barely noticeable - just to "SHIFT TO PARK" - As a result, I will be purchasing an after market component to override this "feature" I will never be stranded or put in harms way for political reasons again.

While cruising control is engaged, turning the steering wheel 5-10 degrees to the right will result in disruption of the cruise control and displaying a message "cruise control cancelled." This results in an abrupt deceleration during a turn that is unexpected and can create a safety hazard. Additionally, the illumination of steering wheel switches flickers with 5 degrees of right turn. This appears to be consistent with the findings of recall 15B, but my VIN is not included in the recall.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
2 complaints
I had the most recent incident driving Westbound in the evening hours shortly before Sunset around October 10, 2024. It appears the sunlight from the setting sun triggered my adaptive cruise control and forward collision alert and triggered an alarm sound and activated emergency braking at the same time. I have had two previous incidents like this. One at the exact same location on my commute home at around the same time and maybe a week before. A third occurrence was on an Eastbound morning drive with the rising sun. All three incidents triggered emergency braking from a speed of ca. 65mph. I was able to react fast enough to deactivate the ACC by lightly pushing the brake pedal and could avoid serving or complete stopping of the vehicle. Luckily during all incidents I had no close traffic behind me, otherwise the incidents could have caused a rear end collision.

Traveling about 55 mph and a car in front of me, exited to the right in a different lane. My jeep slammed on the brakes as I was in the lane beside the turning car. Scared me to death, there was nothing in front of me and thankfully, there was no car behind me. Very scary feeling and almost lost control

The backup lights are no where near bright enough to safely backup at night. There is no easy way to upgrade the bulbs. This is a well know issue in the Jeep community with Wranglers. There are aftermarket solutions but I shouldn't have to spend 100's of dollars to remedy a design defect.

JL Wrangler equipped with LED headlight and fog light. When drive in snowstorm, snow quickly cover up headlight and fog light due to not enough heat generated from headlight fog light. Once snow covers headlight and fog light completely, the visibility reduced to couple feet at most. Make it extremely dangerous.

Vehicle has fluttered off and on for 2 months. Drove on the highway yesterday and the fluttering progressively got worse. It began to lose power and a Service Electronic Throttle Control light came on. I pulled off the side of the road, turned it off and back on. I went 45 mph with hazard lights to the nearest exit. It continued to flutter and the light reappeared. I’ve called many jeep dealerships before this as well as now and they all say there is nothing they can do due to no solution/remedy. I don’t feel safe driving my Jeep back home 3.5 hrs so I have to borrow a family member’s vehicle while my Jeep sits at a dealership until there is something they can do.

I pulled my Jeep into my driveway. I put the car in park with my foot on the brake. When I went to turn the car off, I heard a loud sound coming from the car. the car jerked forward, my foot still on the brake, and then it took off into the side of my house and garage. I tried to stop the car with the brakes and it wouldn't stop. After it hit the house, I looked down and the car was still in park. I had to restart the car as it shut off after hitting the house, I put the car in reverse and backed it up. When I put it back in drive the car wouldn't move. Only reverse worked. After an hour the car started working in drive. I had the car towed to the dealership. They told me that there were no error codes and that the care is fine. I now have zero confidence in this car. This is my fourth Jeep Wrangler and I never experienced anything like this. Has anyone experienced or heard of a similar issue?

July 2024 – driving over 40 mph the Rubicon on a busy two-lane highway with my [XXX] and lost all acceleration. Interior warning lights started flashing with the warning, “Service Electric Throttle Control.” As this was up hill, there I nearly started going backwards and two vehicles swerved around me as I was able to pull over. As cars honked that drove by, I turned the vehicle off which was at this point, making a rattling/wobbling noise. I turned the vehicle back on and off at least three times, with hybrid vehicle working. As I was two miles from home, I was able to get back with the vehicle dropping acceleration (with no horsepower and no ability to go on gas mode) twice until I rolled back in basically neutral. We called USAA to have the vehicle immediately towed to Jeep Rairdon in Kirkland, WA. Jeep Rairdon said they would do an inspection three days later where they will assess if we can get a loaner. It’s sitting in their service lot with no info. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle lost power while driving at highway speed, rapidly decelerating from 70 MPH to <20 MPH. Ignition was turned off after pulling off the highway. When vehicle restarted, alarms cleared and system temporarily operated normally. Problem returned shortly thereafter, but this time did so while accelerating across a street. This condition could have jeopardized safety of self or others by eliminating ability to maneuver/stranding vehicle in roadway. This incident was reported to dealership, who then inspected/investigated. Source is thought to be a faulty fuel pressure sensor. Warning lamps that accompanied this condition were: Check Engine, Sway Bar Link disconnected, and check 4-wheel drive. The check engine light appeared and reset approximately 60 miles prior, and no other symptoms were noted.

Unknown. Car came to a sudden stop while driving and the lights beside the gear started flashing. A message on the dashboard popped up that said for me to put the car in park and then select my desired gear. Major safety concern for a car to just shut down for no reason while driving down the street. Luckily I was on a back road with little traffic. Afraid to drive the car on major highways or at higher rates of speed where this malfunction could cause a serious accident.

1. Driving 70 mph on [XXX], the road was somewhat rough. I experienced severe wobbling (Chrysler calls this a shimmy) from the front end up to the steering wheel. I had to slow to about 35 mph so I could maintain control of the car. Jeep dealership said the car was manufactured with an older steering dampener. A new one is not available. 2. The display screen sometimes takes over many electrical functions. Heat and defrosting were not working during driving in a snow storm. 3 incidents of “death wobble,” first time between 4-5,000 miles and again in October and November of 2023. I’m waiting for another damper as the one they received is leaking. Also, discovered leaking shock absorber. Dangerous and terrifying as you fell like you’ll lose control of your vehicle! I’m going on being out of pocket for car rentals for 5 weeks, although reimbursed it’s still out of pocket initially. I’ve twice been told “it’s fixed!” and it’s happened again! Happens on any slight pavement change and at higher speeds 60-65 mph. The battery recall just came in and complicates my safety and confidence in this vehicle. Unacceptable that it can’t be near other vehicles, charged or stored in my garage!

Issue 1--Open recall since 2/23/2023 with no remedy available (over 5 months) From manufacturer: In some circumstances, the clutch pressure plate may become overheated through friction, which may lead the pressure plate to rapidly fracture. When a pressure plate fractures, it may result in cracks or holes in the transmission case, allowing heated debris to be expelled from the transmission case. Safety Risk Heated debris expelled from the transmission bellhousing may come in contact with an ignition source in the vehicle or surrounding area, potentially leading to a fire. A fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle. Issue 2--Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 31-002020) dated 10/27/2020 related to rust. This issue was reported to my dealer May 2023 and over 60 days later, the burden is on me to take to a body shop for an estimate to be covered under warranty. Said body shop has had claims open on same issue >120 days with no parts available and no date of parts available. Due to this cosmetic issue on the vehicle, I am unable to trade it in to a dealership for a new car without receiving a lower trade in value. I am now stuck driving a vehicle with cosmetic issues, as I do not want to lose thousands on trade in due to a cosmetic issue that is of no fault of my own.

driving 75 down interstate and the vehicle just lost all power yet everything was "on" like normal and no check engine light- nothing. Would not allow me to accelerate or go over 45mph. It is like it would not shift gears. I stopped twice and turned the vehicle off but it did the same thing. Took it to the dealer and on day 2 (6 days later from initial incident) of them driving it, it did same with them but would not allow them to travel over 30 mph. They state it is not showing any codes and they don't know what is wrong. This is very dangerous while on a busy highway and going 75 to all the sudden lose power to your vehicle with no control and it quickly deaccelerates to 45pmh! I was notified of recall ZB7 affecting my 2021 JEEP Wrangler 4xE by phone on February 3, 2023. During this call I made an appointment with JEEP for the issue to be fixed on February 24, 2023. On Wednesday, February 22, 2023, two days before my scheduled appointment, the engine of my Jeep failed ~6PM while I was driving on highway 495S near Merrimac, MA (mile 114.8). I was in the far left lane traveling at about 70 mph and lost all power steering, power brakes, everything. The engine completely lost power without warning. No messages, warning lights or other signs of any issue before a total loss of power. Thankfully, I was able to drift from the left lane, crossing 2 lanes of traffic on a busy highway, to reach the shoulder on the other side of the highway. I did this in the dark without without power brakes and without power steering. I was with my 2 year old son and am grateful that we are both still alive. A loss of engine power at that speed on a busy highway could easily have caused an accident, perhaps fatal for ourselves or others. After 2 hours stranded on the shoulder of the road, the Jeep was towed by AAA to the Jeep dealership nearest to where I lost power, Bill Deluca Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Haverhill, MA. It has been sitting in the parking lot of that dealership now for 6 days and they claim to be too busy to investigate the issue or perform a recall fix. The service repair shop at this dealership has been wholly uncooperative and unhelpful. I have called the manufacturer and am currently awaiting a service appointment at another Jeep dealership. According to Jeep/Chrysler, I am responsible for the out of pocket cost of the tow from the Jeep dealership in Haverhill to the Jeep dealership in Lynnfield. This seems absurd as the faulty vehicle is the reason I am unable to drive it from one dealership to the next. In the meantime, I have now been renting a car for 6 days, paying out of pocket.
Feb 28, 2023
While driving a vehicle swerved into my lane, to avoid hitting them I tapped my brakes, upon tapping my breaks the Jeep lost propulsion and it felt as though my brakes lost power as well. I had to coast into a parking lot where I didn’t even make it to a spot and had to be towed to the dealer. The Jeep would no longer start and gave a “service charging system” message. Upon inspection the dealer stated that Chrysler immediately shipped a power inverter module (pim) upon my Jeep being entered into the system. Since my issue, I have seen 3 other 4XE Jeeps pulled over and broken down in precarious positions. This is what prompted me to file this report, as I believe this may be an issue related to other 4XE Jeeps and if this is the case, it is only a matter of time before an accident that causes loss of life because of how severe and sudden the issue is. Thanks for looking out for our well being and everything y’all do at the NHTSA.

Within a few days of purchasing the vehicle, I noticed that the vehicle moved dramatically to the right and to the left, and the steering mechanism of the vehicle was extremely loose. At 150 miles, I brought it in...the adjusted the steering and aligned the tires. I went on a three hour trip on the highway on April 18th, 2021, Sunday. I nearly crashed into a huge tractor trailer truck because the vehicle swung rapidly to the right and the steering mechanism was so loose, it would not respond sufficiently in time. In addition, the vehicle swings wildly with even mild wind. I managed within inches to swing the car away. I have now brought the vehicle back two more times to the dealership, and they deny any issue. I have provided videos with my spouse driving. My son also drove and found the same issue. The issue occurs both at speeds above 50...and at a speed of 15 miles. This steering column of this vehicle is defective and a true danger on the highway. The manufacturer refuses to take any responsibility in spite of ample knowledge and notice by consumers. Complaints about this issue are all over the internet. We have videos of the defect, which have been provided. I have tried to return the vehicle but they refuse. It has been in the shop 5 of 7 weeks of ownership. The dealership states the vehicle is to manufacturer specifications...this is a serious defect.

The engine warning light was illuminated. The damper had previously been replaced, but the vehicle was well-maintained. There were no reported injuries, air bag deployment, or crash. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The police were called to the scene, but there was no police report. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The local dealer was contacted. In June 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealership (Hendricks Chrysler Dodge Birmingham, AL) for a full diagnostic inspection, and at that time I was told everything was fine. There were no warnings, no notes about electrical issues, airbags, coolant leaks, engine leaks, or any of the major concerns now being reported. On my most recent visit (October 2025), the dealership suddenly reported multiple “Immediate Attention” failures, including: • Airbag system issues • Electrical system failure • Coolant system leak • Water pump leak • Engine oil separator leak These items were never mentioned during my previous full diagnostic despite being safety-related components that typically show symptoms or codes. Because these new issues involve critical components like the airbags, engine, and electrical system, my safety was put at risk. I have been driving the vehicle daily under the belief that it had passed a full diagnostic months earlier. If these problems really existed at that time, then I was unknowingly operating an unsafe vehicle. If they did NOT exist, then the sudden appearance of multiple major failures raises concerns about incorrect diagnostics or improper prior inspection. I have not received any warning lights except the airbag light. The dealership has not provided a clear explanation as to how these issues appeared only months after a full inspection. This has caused significant concern regarding vehicle safety, diagnostic reliability, and whether the previous inspection was performed correctly. I am requesting NHTSA review because the dealership failed to identify or disclose major safety-related failures, which has potentially placed me in danger without any warning.

On April 15th 2025 my Instrument Panal Clusters IPC which is main computer system of Jeeps 2018-2024. It has service lights for check engine, tire pressure, def system recalibrations/cleanings, tells me how fast I'm going, oil levels, all other fluid levels, when I need a oil change, how many miles is on jeep, gas gage, along with all other issues or maintenance on a vehicle including if something is wrong or overheating of vehicle. After doing some research I did see there was a Ipc recall on Jeeps/Gladiators 2018-2024. After going on the website to check if my vin qualified it was sadly not included. I ended up taking my vehicle into the dealership and paid out of my pocket 150.00 to have my vehicle diagnosed. The dealership said it was indeed the Ipc but also said my vin number was not included which was a shock to them also since is a severe issue not being able to see anything on dash for my and other driver's on the road . They tried to submit a goodwill to Jeep Corporate office which was sadly declined also. They advised me to park my vehicle and suggest that it was not safe to drive as I do not know when it needs gas an oil change or any other important issues that may be needed. After waiting 8 months patiently making payments not only for a vehicle I cannot use is ridiculous not till mention insurance on top of that something needs to be done weather it's fixing problems, giving me a rental, or just trading the vehicle in for a usable one. Thank you for your time in advance. I tried to upload photos of the diagnostics for the Ipc also the denial of the goodwill. Oh and I forgot I was on the phone for 4 hours with FCA 18003349200 customer care spoke to recall center spoke to Shawn on 6/27/2025 @ 215pm after getting the run around and being transferred 6 different times to Ann Riley and Josh wasting my time to get told I'm not able to speak to a supervisor and there was nothing they could do to help!!!!

I was driving my 2021 Jeep wrangler and it started running poorly. I was near the dealership. I called them and told them I was headed to them asap. (I was within 3 mile range). The car died in the middle of an intersection. I could not put the car in neutral to move it out of the way of traffic. I got a tow truck to bring it to the dealership. Where they told me that the coolant tube fasteners for my vehicle were gone, and that the engine was blown, including the pump. Elbow screws were missing for the vehicle and coolant was everywhere in my vehicle. My car has 46,000 miles on it. It has had every single oil change ,reported recall done and service request to complete completed.. It has been taken very well care of and has only been to this one dealership.. according to the dealership, it is not covered under my powertrain warranty, and that I must pay for the engine and other parts myself. Upon looking into this, I looked into the NHTSA and also the FCA for recalls on a 2021. I found that that my 2021 would have been recalled for recall number ZD8. Recall code is exactly what is wrong with my 2021 vehicle. I don’t know why they didn’t did not add my VIN number to it, but I am requesting that it be investigated to help me get this covered under warranty. I have contacted Chrysler currently they’re telling me that the engine is not available until November 17 at the earliest so at this time I am in a rental car that I am paying for.. I do believe that my VIN number for my vehicle should have been added and that it should be investigated for other owners of Jeep Wrangler 2021 and 2022 vehicles that possibly were not listed with their VIN numbers. It started with the engine sounding louder then normal. Then a bad smell in the cab of the vehicle. Later found out it was a exhaust leak that was getting into the vehicle causing headaches and other symptoms of carbon monoxide. Also note the burn marks around the broken bracket that could cause a fire if not mechanically inclined to notice. Not check engine light for this. But when I spoke to the dealership it wasn't new to them. Apparently this has happened to alot of the ecodiesel jeep and gladiators. A common problem that should be resolved before and life threatening injuries result in loss of consciousness or fire.

SEAT BELTS,ENGINE
1 complaint
From the moment I drove off the lot, I encountered problems. The battery light came on immediately, requiring a replacement within weeks. I returned to the original CarMax location for this service. However, this was only the beginning. Over time, I discovered the following: The driver seatbelt was not functioning properly The right rear passenger seatbelt buckle was completely missing The filters were filthy and had not been cleaned or replaced in well over a year, according to a trusted mechanic The engine may now require replacement at just 38,000 miles When I called CarMax to report the missing seatbelt buckle, I was incorrectly told that my vehicle was not under warranty. This was untrue — I was well within the warranty period at the time. Despite this, I was ignored, and the safety concern received no follow-up or correction. This points to either a falsified or negligent vehicle inspection at the time of sale. Your "125+ point inspection" failed to catch multiple clear safety hazards and wear issues — or worse, they were deliberately overlooked. What’s most disturbing is that I only discovered the missing seatbelt after my sister drove the vehicle with my [XXX] and [XXX] nephews in the backseat. One child had to sit in the middle because the rear right buckle was completely missing. That realization — that I unknowingly placed children at risk in a vehicle that your team labeled "safe" — is devastating. Now I’m being told that the engine may be failing — and it hasn’t even hit 40,000 miles. I was recently asked by the Southlake service team to provide oil change records, which I am willing to share. But let’s be clear: An oil change receipt does not explain why a newer engine is failing at this mileage — unless something much deeper is wrong. ⸻ Title: Loss of Power While Driving on Freeway – Dangerous Malfunction Similar to Recall 23V-116 Complaint Description: I am reporting a serious and dangerous malfunction with my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon EcoDiesel. While driving on a high-speed freeway (70–80 MPH), all warning lights on the dashboard illuminated—including the check engine light—and the vehicle suddenly went into limp mode, resulting in a loss of power. This occurred in fast-moving traffic, putting me at immediate risk of a crash. This started happening again every time I got on the freeway for 10 minutes. I’ve owned this Jeep for about a year, have never taken it off-road, and have kept it properly maintained. All electrical components, fuses, and systems have been inspected, and no clear cause has been found. The problem persists and is clearly not due to driver use or negligence. This issue strongly resembles Recall Number 23V-116, which states that affected vehicles may experience a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash. That recall was for 2021 Jeep Wrangler vehicles, the same model and year as mine. However, my VIN was not included, despite the fact that I’m experiencing the exact same symptoms described in the recall notice: “A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.” This issue began occurring shortly after that recall was issued, and it has happened multiple times, mostly during highway driving—making the vehicle extremely unsafe. I believe my vehicle should have been included in Recall 23V-116, as this is clearly a safety-related defect involving the powertrain or control module software. This is an urgent safety issue, and I respectfully request that NHTSA investigate why this VIN was excluded from the recall and consider expanding the recall to cover additional affected vehicles before someone gets seriously injured or worse. June 5, 2025 stopped at red light turned green tried to turn left and the jeep flashed the electric red bolt symbol and check engine light came on lost all power would not go when gas pedal was pushed. a/c lost power started blowing hot air and engine turned off. Restarted engine finally got it to go enough to pull out of traffic. Turned off engine opened hood checked battery cables, fuses and all was intact. Started engine drove slowly to the Autozone store to have the diagnostic test done and it showed P2101 power train system throttle actuator A control motor circuit range /performance detected unexpected voltage on the throttle actuator control motor circuit also C121C-00 ABS torque request signal denied Anti-lock Brake System U0401-00 implausible data received from ECM/PCM “A”. System was reset to be able to drive home. 6/16/25 went to start jeep to go to work made a clicking noise check engine light on and the voltage warning sensor flashing and showed Service Electronic Stability Control error would not stay running checked battery cables fuses and restarted engine tried to back out of driveway engine would not go. Had jeep towed to Moore CDJR dealership where it was purchased from 9/2023 to have serviced found throttle body needs replaced dealership contacted several parts dealers, Mopar, and other dealerships etc. to locate the part needed was advised couldn’t find the parts needed for the repair. Contacted service department and they advised they were calling National Auto Care my extended warranty for approval for repair. My concern is if I had been driving 65 mph and it went out I would have been in a accident when the vehicle stopped functioning. Safety of myself and other drivers would have been compromised. This is the 2.0L Turbo motor and have been advised that there are several issues with this motor and should trade in vehicle. I don’t have that option and this is the only vehicle I have.

Date: [XXX] Subject: Immediate Safety Concern – 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe – Acceleration Failure Dear Jeep Customer Care, I am the owner of a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe, VIN [XXX] , with approximately 50,000 miles. I am writing to report a critical and potentially fatal safety defect that occurred multiple times on [XXX], most notably at the intersection of [XXX] and [XXX] in Oregon. On multiple occasions, when attempting to accelerate from a full stop into an intersection with cross traffic traveling at 55 mph or more, the vehicle failed to respond to throttle input. Instead of accelerating, the Jeep simply rolled slowly into the intersection despite my foot fully depressing the accelerator pedal. This placed me at immediate risk of being struck broadside by oncoming vehicles at high speed, which could have resulted in catastrophic injury or death. The check engine light was on since [XXX] and my husband drove the Jeep to Lithia Chrysler Dodge of Bend (Oregon) on June 4th, 2025, 12 pm. They ran a computer test and told my husband that there was a recall on the battery but that we could still drive the car, and it was safe but not to charge the car (we followed instructions). We couldn’t even secure a vehicle appointment until July 2nd, 2025. How do you not prioritize a potentially critical situation? This defect is entirely unacceptable and renders the vehicle unsafe for operation. I will not drive the vehicle further due to the danger involved. Given the severity of this defect, I request: •Immediate investigation by Jeep/FCA engineering and technical teams. •Safe transport (towing) of the vehicle to an authorized service center at Jeep’s expense. •Full documentation of the inspection, diagnosis, and resolution of this issue. •Confirmation of whether this issue has been reported in other 4xe vehicles or constitutes part of a larger safety defect investigation. I am documenting this issue formally INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Purchased this vehicle used from Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Mesa, Arizona. I was told the tires were newer and in great shape they looked to have a good amount of tread on them. However, I had an issue with one tire and the dealership patched it incorrectly making it a safety hazard Therefore they replaced one tire with the plug and when I went to a tire place for pressure issues and TPS sensor they pointed out the tires were over five years old which means these were the original tires that came with the Jeep in 2021. After only owning this vehicle for two months, I now have to replace all four tires Because there is a safety issue with the age and the tread. There was also issues with the steering damper, which they did repair due to wobbling, however there is a slight wobble still because I have one brand new tire from the dealer and three tires that are not new. The dealer refuses to take ownership of the sale of unsafe tires.. dealer offered three month 3000 mile max care warranty and they still won’t address the tire issue.

I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE Rubicon. My vehicle has been recalled three times for updates. I have had one recall done for the defroster due to the faulty software that can cause reduced visibility increasing a risk of a crash. The second one was for risk of fire from a faulty high voltage battery driving or parked. The third recall call was to update software for the high voltage battery in which doing so caused my vehicle not to fully charge and to lose power when driving and not be able to start for hours at a time. I now have brought my vehicle back to the Jeep service center for a diagnostic test and it was found that the high voltage battery pack is faulty in which Jeep has said they will put a new battery in once approved from Chrysler. Jeep has not been able to be able to fix the problem with Hybrid battery packs possibly catching on fire or exploding and the new one I'd be getting would risk the same problems possibly injuring or killing myself or any passengers I might have in the vehicle. Jeep is not able to get to the root of the cause of why these high volt battery can go on fire even when they are not in use causing possible property damage to my home or neighbors. I am told in the recall to park my vehicle away from properties and other cars which is impossible to do. I hope you take this serious matter into consideration that Jeep Corporation must find a solution for this Nationwide problem and for people on the road.

Our vehicle experiences loss of motive power as well as a complete disconnect from the battery. All diagnostics have shown that physical battery connections are good. We have been left on the side of the road with the inability to drive the vehicle above 20 mph. It is extremely dangerous when moving through an intersection or driving on the highway. We get a sudden warning lamp of a battery, charging cable, and turtle. They appeared 4 days after the purchase of the vehicle.

I took my 2021 diesel Jeep in for a Y81 Emissions recall on 02.19.24. Since then, my vehicle has had its check engine light go on SIX TIMES with a P0133 alert which refers to an O2 sensor. I have taken it in to the dealership for a resolution six times. Currently, it is set to be diagnosed and repaired yet one more time on 01.22.25. Now we are in the middle of winter and I feel like the vehicle is about to die at intersections and roundabouts when I approach them. I tried to go through an arbitration with FCA USA LLC which produces the Jeep brand and it was denied for a repurchase of the vehicle because the arbitrator felt it was not a safety issue since I still drive the vehicle and they are technically not in violation of the warranty which I did not accept as a resolution. Due to my non-resolved safety concern, I am raising the issue in this forum so hopefully something can be done and others that potentially have the same issue can reach a resolution as well. My hypothesis of the cause of the issue is when the Y81 recall happened, it tuned down the emissions output that was originally higher necessary for the vehicle to run, because I didn't have check engine lights before. By this tune-down of emissions, the engine is not able to produce the correct output to run the vehicle and thus the random lack of power causing a safety issue, and is currently adversely affecting components that are causing the P0133 O2 sensor to alert.

After performing the 95B recall, within 20-30 miles of driving the CEL came on. After powering off and back on the “service charging system” alert displayed on the dash. The vehicle seemed drivable however, and I proceeded to drive it to the dealership two days later which is about 4 miles away. In multiple instances when trying to accelerate from a stop the vehicle would not accelerate to more than 3-4 mph for multiple seconds leaving me stranded pulling out across traffic in the middle of an intersection waiting on the car to accelerate to a normal speed. Regardless of how much the accelerator was pressed the vehicle just rolled forward very, very slowly. Eventually, the vehicle lurched forward violently. Within this 3-4 mile drive this happened 3 times. The car remained jerky and unpredictable. I was fortunate to be driving at a low traffic time and made sure to allow extra space due to feeling the car acting slow after the CEL appeared. Had I treated it normally during normal commute hours, I would have been hit by oncoming traffic. I left the vehicle at the dealership and am waiting on response.

I was traveling on the [XXX] on Sunday [XXX] and while started smelling brakes and I got off at the service area and pressed on the brake pedal and the vehicle wouldn’t stop. I had no brake pedal and just heard a clicking sound. There were people everywhere and I didn’t want anyone to get hurt so I had no choice but to drive the vehicle towards a yellow pole which did stop the vehicle but I have been told after the car was towed to a shop that there is an error code B22A9 and believe it was caused by some ecu failure of some sort. The vehicle is in really bad shape and airbags also didn’t deploy. I would like this to be investigated as I would not feel safe in this vehicle if it’s repaired and returned to service. It is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and I am aware of issues being reported with the battery but nothing for this problem except for other mentions on the internet on owners having similar problems intermittently. The jeep will be towed to Pohanka Jeep in Salisbury Md. There wasn’t any warning lights. I give permission for the vehicle to be inspected at anytime. I feel this vehicle is a danger to the public safety being it was just serviced and inspected by a Jeep dealership 2 weeks prior and the brakes suddenly fall and now there’s a code with something to do with an ecu or electronics having to do with the brakes failing. Could have been killed in the accident or seriously hurt if I hadn’t exited off the road and used the pole to stop the vehicle. On 9/29/24 with the rear window removed and the top in a closed position while driving highway speeds, the driver side rear window of my vehicle, without warning, flew off and moments later the rear driver side support flew off. The side windows of the vehicle had previously never been removed. It was a shocking experience that left me quite shaken, yet out of control to mitigate. Fortunately, there were no vehicles immediately behind me taking the impact of flying car parts, however, had there been this could have been deadly. The dealership will not be able to fully access the vehicle until 10/16/24. Upon speaking to the service manager they will take a quick look at it today (9/30)

On October 17th. The vehicle exhibited serious electrical issues when I attempted to start it in my school parking lot. Upon pressing the start button, the car would not start, and all electrical items began malfunctioning. The lights inside and outside the vehicle were flashing, the windshield wipers activated on their own, the horn was beeping intermittently, and the car was emitting alarming noises. The situation escalated when the tow truck driver arrived. He was unable to start the vehicle. Instead, the engine produced a loud revving sound, as if it were about to blow up. This experience was not only frustrating but also alarming, considering the potential safety risks. The dealership said they will get to it as soon as they can, but are 7-10 days booked.

This was installed in 2021 by a professional electrician. I am grateful I was observant because this would have caused a fire. There was evidence of this starting in the outlet box (black residue). This was. a major near miss safety incident. Hired a professional electrician to repair the charger. The wall charging unit is Jeep branded: HCS-40P Hardwired Electric Vehicle Charging Station, Jeep Branded by Clipper Creek Part number: 0922-00-013 Today there is a note on the MOPAR website: No Longer Stellantis LEV Readiness Compliant Curious...should this unit have been recalled?

Hi the two major issues that need to reported. 1. The vehicle would just shut down while driving at highway speeds. It would have trouble restarting and you would have to cost to the shoulder. This issue was random, we took it to the dealership and they drove it for a week until it left them on the side of the road. They kept it for just over a month and a star case had to be opened. 2. 2nd issue, The vehicle would shutter when accelerating and would shutter when braking. Extremely dangerous when trying to drive it back to the dealership. It had something to do with the vehicle not knowing if it wanted to be in electric or gas. this also caused the ac to stop working and the blind spot system not to work . This time they had it for just over a month to change the main battery. Both case the vehicle was unsafe to be on the road and could have led to a major accident.

While driving my vehicle in four-wheel-drive low, with no lockers engaged I noticed that the rear wheels at different times were dragging, I could also hear and feel the ABS module actuating. During these events I would have diminished breaking capabilities and no ABS warning lights. it was doing it under 5 miles an hour at first and then higher speeds. I got a service ABS, service traction control, service stability control, four-wheel-drive unavailable, service four-wheel-drive system Messages all of a sudden, and i disengaged the four-wheel-drive lover back to 2 Wheel Drive. At this point the brake pedal was hard and would not move, my back left wheel was completely locked. I shut the vehicle down waited a few minutes and restarted it, all of the lights were still active but I was able to move the vehicle. I began traveling forward and the rear wheels alternated locking up. I started backing up to move to a safe position, the brake pedal became hard and I was unable to stop causing my vehicle to collide with a wall, speed was below 5 miles an hour but still caused damage to my left rear quarter panel and fiberglass top. After we assessed the damage, I put the vehicle in 2 Wheel Dr., disconnected the battery for 30 minutes, and was able to drive the vehicle to a parking lot in 2 Wheel Dr. After this point and not having phone service, use a satellite communicator to call a local off-road recovery nonprofit that I volunteer for, they were able to assist in bringing a trailer out to tow my vehicle home as it is unsafe to drive and my children were with me. Unloading the vehicle off the trailer all the lights were gone with the exception of a check engine light is now on. The vehicle is currently sitting in my driveway and will be requesting a tow to the local dealership for them to troubleshoot .

Drivers sun visor broke off while driving on November 2023 on a 2021 Jeep. I was driving at a residential area going 30mph. Dealership fixed it and assessed it as a safety issue. I brushed off the incident and considered it as normal wear and tear. Then in April 2024 the passenger sun visor broke off. I was on the interstate driving 70mph. I seldom carry passengers and when I do it's mostly after sunset. In both cases, we simply flipped visor down and it broke off. The roads were smooth both times. Now I have the death wobble where on the interstate at speeds over 60 miles an hour my steering wheel shakes like crazy making it hard to operate my 2021 wrangler unless I get under 60 miles per hour which is a risk for everyone on the road. When telling corporate about these issues. They have full documentation and they say well it’s covered under warranty. Well warranty doesn’t last forever and I am scared for my safety and others. Look at the reviews on Jeep corporate- none are good and talk continuously on water pump issues and death wobble problems . Please help me

Earlier this year vehicle would sometimes do the following, not at start up but when driving; Wipers on by themselves & driver can't shut off, turn signals inop, Both sides blind spot warning continously on alerting driver every time a vehicle on either side is passed or passes vehicle, anywhere from three to five dash warning lights illuminated. Took to dealer in April 2023 & diagnosed a bad can bus connector. Replaced connector (approx $700). Seemed to be the fix until it started again June 2023. This time all the above issues started up again including loss of power steering. I was on I70 at highway speeds in rush hour traffic and it was very dangerous. Returned to dealer yesterday 6/29/23 Immediately following loss of power steering while vehicle was displaying faults & they read codes. They are booked for 2 weeks so I'm scheduled to drop it off 7/10/2023. Dealer has been fine to work with and willing to help. While stopped at a light on a busy highway I heard a loud sound similar to the automatic emergency braking system engaging. When the light changed the vehicle would not move. I tried turning it off and then back on again with no luck. The dash displayed the message "service charging system" and then ultimately illuminated an icon for the 12V battery and the charging system. I wound up having the vehicle towed to a local dealer where it currently remains waiting to be repaired. My biggest fear here is that there was no way to move the vehicle, some type of limp mode would be a much better solution so at least I could have moved out of traffic.

I was driving on the expressway when the engine suddenly slowed the car, I lost all ability to use the gas pedal. The deal found metal shavings in the engine leading to the engine being replaced. Prior to this I had several check engine lights that when the dealer looked at the vehicle, they simply reset them and told me all was ok. I lost all power on the expressway- all passengers in the car felt it and were terrified. In a separate incident also on the expressway I experienced a violent wobble and rattle of the entire car including the steering- I have a video of this as my daughter happened to catch it. It felt very dangerous and I had to slow to stop it. It happens when I hit a bump. This is a new vehicle with less than 10 K miles.

HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while stationary at a traffic light, multiple warning lights were illuminated and the vehicle failed to shift out of park(P). The contact stated that a Police Officer assisted in manually moving the vehicle out of the street. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to a local dealer but was informed that the location did not have an employee to service the vehicle. The contact then towed the vehicle to Garden City Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram (283 N Franklin St, Hempstead, NY 11550:(516) 336-4712) where it was diagnosed with needing the hybrid battery replaced. The vehicle was repaired but failed to fix the vehicle. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,700.

i was. driving on the FWY, when I pass the bridge, there is a small rupper bump. the car starts shaking vertically and starts to slow down in the middle of the Fwy. I try to speed up to pull over to the right, but no response, where I felt the gas peddle is not working at that moment. I was lucky there were not too many cars behind me on the Fwy. I went to the dealer and they say something about, dead throttle.

1 complaint
I was driving down the freeway, came upon traffic which caused me to come to a stop. When the traffic cleared and I put my foot on the gas, the jeep refused to go forward and stalled out. I had just enough power to get to a safe area on the side of the freeway. My jeep flashed the D on the gear shifter and I got a notification to put the car in "park." On the control panel screen it showed "check charging system" and "check transmission." It also showed a message showing blind spot alert was disabled and the battery light. I had nearly a full tank of gas when this happened and at least 34% of electric left to drive on electric mode when this occurred. My Uconnect app showed the message "charging fault error has occurred" when this happened on the freeway.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while at a stop light and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would not drive forward and the gear shifter lights began blinking. Suddenly the vehicle would lurch forward and backward crashing into both the vehicles in the front and rear and a third parked vehicle before finally the driver was able to shift into park and turn the vehicle off. During the incident, the Stability Control, ABS, and Traction Control warning lights had illuminated. The vehicle was later driven to the police station but the warning lights were still illuminated. During the incident, no injuries were reported and a police report was taken. The manufacturer was contacted and later retrieved the vehicle for evaluation. No further information was available. The local dealer was also notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 15,000.

While driving approximately 35 miles an hour while on E save with max regeneration enabled, the car cut all power, RPM went to zero, service charging system error displayed on dash. Once able to get car off of Road, was able to restart. The Uconnect app does show a charging system fault, once plugged in charging system does charge, per dealer new error codes report to substantiate failure of power.

I was driving down the highway when the engine on my Wrangler 4xe suddenly shut off forcing me to cut off traffic to get to the shoulder. Numerous error messages were displaying but I did not have time to see them all. Final message I could see was "Charging System Error". After turning the Jeep off then back one the problem cleared. I suspect this was caused by the Adaptive Cruise Control system. It had started to brake hard for a car not actually in my lane. At the same moment people were pulling in behind me to move over for a police car on the shoulder. The Adaptive Cruise Control started what was a hard brake check on this traffic, so I overrode it by pressing on the accelerator, at which point it died. At the dealer they determined from the codes that the transmission control unit had shut off the engine control unit. Otherwise nothing could be determined as being wrong with the vehicle. Seeing all the other complaints of similar incidents involving Wranglers I think there is bad software code in the vehicle's control systems.

STEERING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
1 complaint
Description: - Recurring on multiple occasions - Multiple lights on the dash come on. They may flash or persist - i.e. engine light, turtle light, crash avoidance light, among others. - The vehicle loses power (it’s a hybrid). This includes the motor and the engine. - The steering is compromised. You cannot steer the vehicle very well during this loss of power. - The vehicle usually will not restart and must be towed in or, in some cases, the battery can be disconnected causing the vehicle to reset and allowing it to begin operating again. This solution can work for a several power cycles or none at all. - When this happens, and you attempt to restart the vehicle sometimes when the power returns you are unable to tell if the vehicle is in neutral, drive, reverse, park, etc. - I experienced a case where the vehicle was in the Run position and the power windows would not open. When it was in the Off position, the windows would open. Perhaps this is intended behavior. - The seatbelt light will stay on even though all passengers in the vehicle are buckled in. It is unclear if this is part of the same issue, but it seems to be. - Systems compromised: Steering, braking, power/engine, seatbelts, etc. Examples of Incidents: - Driving in neighborhood (Safe Location) - Driving at highway speed (Unsafe Occurrence) - Driving on an off-road trail (thankfully with others) (Unsafe Occurrence) - Driving at highway speed - We almost crashed twice trying to get off the hwy. (Unsafe Occurrence) Compounding Safety Issues: - Roadside Assistance didn’t show up after ~7 hours waiting. - FCA’s utter confidence in the repair process is scary to me. - Confidence apparently based on recent software updates to the system, which was installed in a prior visit. The FCA rep wasn’t initially aware the vehicle was back in for service 2 days after installing the latest firmware. - Lack of ability to update software OTA (over the air).

This nearly caused a crash and the vehicle was immobilized and had to be towed to dealership. Vehicle has less than 3000 miles on the odometer. This presented a significant safety risk to driver, passengers and other motorists.

On 9/16/21, my vehicle dangerously lost power, following a very loud sound and a violent shudder. Power for braking and steering was lost. The vehicle had no response to the accelerator pedal. I attempted to coast to the shoulder of the road, when the vehicle slammed into park on its own while still traveling at roughly 15mph. The wheels locked and the vehicle came to a violent stop by itself, likely not activating the brake lights. The cooling fans came on at full speed, climate control cancelled itself, and the vehicle locked in park. While using the built in emergency button, the vehicle telematics shut down and dropped the dispatcher. I completed the emergency service call using my phone. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, initial reports are that it is not drivable, the main hybrid battery pack fuses are blown. The prior night, the vehicle failed to charge using the Jeep EVSE cable.

' IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE OF MY 2 DOOR 2021 JEEP WRANGLER JL (ANNIVERSARY) THE REAR VIDEO CAMERA STOPPED WORKING AT START UP, AND CONTINUED TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE, DESPITE SOFTWARE REINSTALLS. ' TWO AND A HALF MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AND WITH JUST 2000 MILES ON IT, WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN I NOTICED THAT APPROXIMATELY 10 SECONDS AFTER I PUT ON THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, THE DASHBOARD LIGHT WOULD DIM SIGNIFICANTLY, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT AND DISTRACTING TO SEE THE SPEED AT WHICH I WAS DRIVING, OR THE CRUISE CONTROL. DIMMING MIGRATED QUICKLY AFTER THAT TO THE MONITOR WHICH BECAME HARD TO READ OR SEE. UCONNECT WAS ALSO NOT WORKING WITH IMAGES AND AUDIO BEING IN DISCERNABLE. ' NOT LONG AFTER THAT, I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ALSO INCREASING THE MPH ON ITS OWN WHILE IT WAS BEING SET. CLEARLY HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES. ' FIVE DAYS LATER GOING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 40-50MPH ON A HIGHWAY, THE JEEP SHIFTED INTO MANUAL AND I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOT A LOT OF TRAFFIC AND I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT WHERE I STOPPED THE CAR, SHUT IT OFF, TURNED IT BACK ON. THE CAR WAS STILL WORKING, BUT I WAS SCARED BY WHAT CLEARLY COULD HAVE BEEN A LIFE-THREATENING CIRCUMSTANCE. ' AT THE DEALERSHIP WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING DELIVERED TO ME IN THE GARAGE BY AN EMPLOYEE, IT STOPPED DRIVING IN FRONT OF MANY EMPLOYEES AND MYSELF. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE GOING AS FAST AS POSSIBLE AND RAIN WAS POURING DOWN, AND THE CAR SLIPPED INTO MANUAL OR PARK, AND BECOMING UNDRIVABLE. ' THE CAR CLEARLY HAS SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND MY DEALERSHIP SEEMS UNCONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CLIENTS. THE JEEP CONTINUES TO BE A CONCERN FOR ME, AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. I ALSO BELIEVE THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM FOR JEEPS.
