ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
3 complaints
This vehicle has been repeatedly getting a "Door Fault Service Required" alert on the dashboard. I have even had the burglar alarm (horn honking and lights flashing) go off for no reason in my garage with my garage door shut. This is the exact problem that was covered with safety recall 19S03. For some reason, my vehicle was not included as part of this recall, even though it was built at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant where the other problematic vehicles came from. The build dates that were included in the recall were from November 30, 2015 through November 14, 2018. My vehicle was apparently outside of this range, but the problem continues. The cutoff date ranges for this recall was obviously too narrow because the problem persists. Now, because the applicable range was too narrow, I am left to have to pay for a factory mistake. Please expand the affected dates on recall 19S03. This is an issue that poses an imminent threat to the safety of this vehicle because the door latch is intermittently operative. There is a potential for the door to open while driving which poses a risk of accident and/or injury.

The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln Continental. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the “No Key Detected” warning light was illuminated and the vehicle would not start. The contact stated that whenever the sign was off, the vehicle would start up right away. The contact stated that the vehicle would start normally while at his residence. The contact stated that he thought that there was an electrical interference that prevented the vehicle from starting and was worried that the failure occurred from another electrical source. The contact had towed the vehicle to a local dealer who could not duplicate the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact stated that the battery was in good condition and was not the cause of the failure. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

THIS IS A COMPANY CAR AND I SOMETIMES WORK FROM THE BACK SEAT DURING MY TRAVEL TO CLIENTS AS IT'S LARGE AND COMFORTABLE. I RECENTLY HAD OCCASION TO MEET WITH A CLIENT DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER SO WE WERE IN THE REAR OF MY CAR FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES. AFTER THIS TIME I COULD NOT RELEASE THE DOOR LOCKS WITH THE KEYLESS REMOTE, I AM PARTIALLY DISABLED AND HAD TO CLIMB OVER THE FRONT SEATS TO MANUALLY RELEASE THE DRIVER'S DOOR! I WAS TRAPPED AND MY CLIENT WAS VERY UPSET. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. ALL DOORS - WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DRIVER'S DOOR ONLY OPEN WITH A SOLENOID! I AM TERRIBLY AFRAID THAT IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT PASSENGERS WOULD BE TRAPPED IN THE VEHICLE. I AM ASKING THE MANUFACTURER TO TAKE THIS VEHICLE BACK AFTER APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR OF USE. NOTE THAT THE DOORS CAN BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE WHEN THIS OCCURS, JUST TRAPS PASSENGERS INSIDE THE CAR. I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE THIS CAR!

Recently purchased this vehicle, it’s got a different problem all the time usually electronics. The other day I was in a fender bender because I’m driving with the steering wheel 30-45 degrees to the right just so I can drive safe. Essence ford in Stuart FL where I purchased it, two different gentlemen thought it really bizarre but didn’t seem too concerned regarding my life at stake [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

My 2019 Lincoln Continental has been displaying an adaptive steering failure message for over 8 months now. I have taken the vehicle to multiple dealership and they just tell me the part is on back order. I have contracted the Lincoln office 888-214-2155 three times now 9/2/24, 10/10/24, 10/30/24, and just get the same answer. Someone will call me back. I never get a call back. My case # with Lincoln is [XXX]. The owners manual says that it is not safe to drive the vehicle with this issue however the dealer ship tell me it's ok. What can I do to escalate this?? Lightly leaned on door when it was shutting, making it so it wouldn't shut all the way, soft close system engaged jamming the door and making it impossible without destroying the door/motor to open even with the emergency release latch in the map compartment of my vehicle (driver side under the electronic release button) the door eventually threw up an error letting me know the door was malfunctioning and was ajar when it wasn't. I had to climb over to the passenger seat to get out and after trying to figure out a way to release the door with about 5 minutes of effort the door finally released by holding the open button and pulling constantly at the cost of the soft close motor and a constant error message on screen with a yellow wrench on the dash. No other info on other faults are known as of yet. I have not been able to bring it to a dealer as of yet but I will update this as soon as I do I can probably reproduce it on another door but I fear doing so will have a chance to never being able to open the door again. This can be a huge issue in the event of an emergency where you need to spend extra time to break the window or crawl out and if the car lacks power with doors lock NO DOOR can be opened as the emergency release latch only works on the drivers door.

2019 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL- I am writing regarding the subject recall (Safety Recall Notice 22551 NHTSA Recall 22V644) involving a cloudy rear view camera on my vehicle. I have checked periodically to have my vehicle repaired. Each time, for at least 10 months, I get the same response --- supply chain issues. In the meantime, millions of new vehicles across many brands are being manufactured with superior rear view cameras. It is time for Ford/Lincoln to stop delaying fixing this problem and get it done. Any aid you can supply in bringing this to a responsible and quick closure would be much appreciated.

I am not aware of an accident involving this defect. I am reporting a safety concern that occurred to me after I bought the car. All door controls(inside and out) are electronic. Doors are electronically opened by pressing a button. In the event of a crash that disables the electric system, occupants would be trapped in a locked car with no way to open the door. For this apparent reason, the driver's side door has a very small mechanical lever low on the driver's side door panel that will open the door in case of electrical failure. However, the lever is NOT conspicuous and many owners may not be aware of it's existence. Moreover, the driver's door is the ONLY door with a backup mechanical lever to open the door. In a crash, it may not be feasible to remove all occupants through the driver's door. In the event of a crash that disables the car's electrical system AND damages the driver's door sufficiently to prevent opening, all occupants would be trapped in the vehicle. If occupants are also exposed to fire or water hazard, it could easily result in a fatality. I believe that NHTSA and Lincoln should consider a recall to install conspicuous mechanical levers in ALL doors, or alternatively, install a redundant battery backup system that would allow doors and window to be opened in the event that the primary electrical system is compromised in a crash. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
