My 2019 Lincoln MKC has the widespread coolant intrusion engine defect acknowledged by Ford. This is a premature internal engine failure due to design.
Feb 05, 2026
Vehicle overheated, due to collant entering #1 cylinder. This coolant intrusion is apparently a well documented issue, from an acknowledged engine defect. (TSB 19-2346, TSB 22-2133) Ford dealership recommended an $11,000 + tax engine replacement, with no relief, as car is past its warranty. The vehicle has 58540 miles. Lincoln customer service also declined any goodwill repair. Independent Service Dealer (Craig’s Auto Repair Service 281-469-5949) first diagnosed the issue, recommended taking the vehicle to Ford Dealership (Tomball Ford).

Lincoln 2019 MKC reserve head gasket problem check engine light on. Took to dealership and confirmed with compression test that it was TSB – 22–2229 had to replace engine with new long block. Lincoln Corporate Assistance paid some 2835.10 I paid $4265.05
Feb 01, 2026
My 2019 Lincoln MKC with only 52,200 miles experienced unrepairable engine damage due to an internal coolant intrusion condition that directly matches Ford TSB 22-2229. On or around Jan 1st or 2nd, a check engine warning light came on as I was driving home at night. I did not drive my car any further except to the dealership for service on 1/5/2026. The engine failure was diagnosed by the dealership on 1/6/2026. This engine failure occurred well below a reasonable engine life expectancy, and is caused by a documented design defect. The manufacturer’s refusal/delay in recalling these engines with a known design defect places drivers at risk of being stranded at any time of day or night, and drivers risk becoming a road hazard to themselves and others when experiencing complete engine failure.

2019 Lincoln MKC with 96K mileage suddenly started running rough around 30mph and I was losing power as I was entering a highway on a ramp. RPM needle was fluctuating between 2K and 3K. Immediately drove back home and towed it to Lincoln shop. They said its an issue with Coolant Intrusion into the engine compartment and would have to replace the engine block. Estimated at $11K. Extended warranty company said claim is likely to be denied as these Ecoboost 2.0L engines are notorious for these issues. It is a faulty manufacturing and there is no recall. Costing consumers thousands of dollars and also putting lives of passengers at risk.

I received a recall in July 2023 recall (23v378). It has now been six months of parking my car outdoors. I have contacted the dealership 3 times to no avail about the repair. Last contact was on 1/24/2024 no returned phone call.

Recall - 23S28 - NHTSA recall 23V378 I have not been able to get my dealership to return my calls or fix this recall - Monadnock Ford 119 Monadnock Highway Swanzey, NH 03446 I contacted them back in August and they finally (after multiple efforts) got back to me in November and asked for my info. I asked for an eta and they told me parts were on backorder. I have contacted them via their website, phone and email multiple times for an update with no reply.

Received recall notice and advised in AUG in letter that parts were available . Made appt with Nick Mayer Lincoln Mayfield Hts Ohio for 9/6 8:00 am. While on the way they called to say they cant do it because they didn't have the parts. I visited on 9/11 and discussed with the service manager that I was on the list and they would contact me////// Watching the Cleveland news tonight I see that there was a fire of a 2019 MKC3 . I will be 81 years old very soon and really don't need this [XXX]. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

https://abc7chicago.com/ford-lincoln-mkc-suv-recall-fire-concerns/13337855/ The issue stems from a battery monitoring sensor that, because of where it's placed in the vehicle, could get damaged when the battery or electric components around it are serviced. The damage could cause a short circuit that, because there's no fuse in the circuitry, could lead to overheating and a fire. The vehicles involved are model year 2015 through 2019 Lincoln MKC SUVs I am reporting this because of the article that was distributed (above). Per your site, I do not have a recall. Per the Lincoln dealer I do, but they cannot allow me to come in for remediation due to not having guidance from Lincoln yet. Raising further awareness that this is an issue.

When placing the vehicle in Reverse, the camera image is distorted. This problem happens intermittently but when it does, I am unable to view any potential hazards as I back up.

On my 2019 Lincoln MKC, which has 53,000 miles, the weather adhesive on one side of the moon/sunroof has come loose. The entire assembly is nearly detached, and I suspect this is a manufacturing defect, considering the car is relatively new and has low mileage. While I was driving on the highway, the roof could have come completely loose and potentially hit someone, which raises significant safety concerns regarding this manufacturer issue.

I had my winter tires replaced with my summer tires. The repairman told me that the lug nuts were swelling and shouldn’t be put back on the vehicle, they may not be removable if there was a need to do it roadside. They said that this is an extremely prevalent problem with ford vehicles and Ford was not taking ownership of the problem. They even recommended that I NOT replace them with OEM parts but to buy after market uncapped lug nuts. They had a large box of defective lug nuts sitting in the repair area.

In June of 2023, a potential fire recall was issued. Contacted two dealerships, was told no parts available. In August 2023, a second notice regarding fire (whether car is running or parked). ENGINE,FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
1 complaint
On or about July 29, 2025, the check engine light illuminated in my 2019 Lincoln MKC Sport with a 2.0L EcoBoost engine. A mechanic inspected the vehicle on August 4, 2025, and confirmed coolant is entering cylinder one, likely due to a blown head gasket or, less likely, an engine block crack. Symptoms include coolant loss, potential misfiring, and the check engine light activation. The issue was identified through diagnostic testing (e.g., borescope inspection or compression test, pending specific results). No external coolant leaks were observed, indicating an internal engine failure. The vehicle has 89,516 miles and was purchased three months ago on May 5, 2025, from Ford City in Champaign, Illinois. Safety Concerns: Coolant intrusion into cylinder one risks engine misfiring, rough idling, or sudden power loss, which could cause engine stalling or failure during operation. This poses a serious safety hazard, as it may lead to loss of vehicle control, particularly at highway speeds or in traffic, endangering the driver, passengers, and other road users. The defect compromises the reliability of the 2.0L EcoBoost engine and requires costly repairs. Additional Context: • No known history of severe overheating exists, but maintenance records prior to purchase are unavailable. • The vehicle has no aftermarket modifications. • No crashes or injuries have occurred, but the issue emerged shortly after purchase, suggesting a possible pre-existing defect. • Similar coolant intrusion issues have been reported in earlier 2.0L EcoBoost engines (e.g., 2013–2016 Ford models), and this may indicate a recurring defect in the 2019 MKC. • I urge NHTSA to investigate whether this engine issue warrants a recall due to its potential safety impact.

I have called Leith Lincoln in Raleigh twice in less than 30 days to report an alert that continues to come through on my Lincoln app about the airbags. The airbag light comes on-on the dashboard even when there is not a passenger in the seat. The Restraints Indicator Lamp Warning comes on and remains on for an ample amount of time. The alert on the app states that "your airbag warning is on due to a fault with the passenger airbag detection indicator." It also tells me to contact the dealer. This is a safety concern for me.

The coolant/ transmission fluid is found to be leaking into the engine. Now I to pay for a new engine when I have had the car 1 year and 8 months. I still owe $22,000 on the vehicle, and while it’s said that Lincoln knew about this problem, no recall was ever issued. I am 3,000 miles over the warranty, but there are no security message popping up to say this is a problem. The dealership said nothing is firing of to warn of a problem in the computer either. I had the oil changed 1 month ago but was not told or warned of an engine defect either ( I was under mileage that time). I am asking for assistance to replace this engine. I feel there should have been a recall to replace the models effected. Others have had their engines replaced free of charge I asking to extended that same courtesy free of charge. And a recall should be issued for theses bad engines when the problem was known prior to sale. I have purchased Ford vehicles in the past and but I was married at the time but he too has a LMKC right now. Please advise on some type of assistance. Thank you

I purchased this vehicle less than 30 days. It had 29,257 miles. From day one, the vehicle came with no heating. When you push for heat, the cold AC blows. The part is in national back order. Secondly, when driving car at 20- 45 miles there is vibration, like a window is down when on a highway, but I'm driving in my neighborhood with all windows up. The vibration is unbearable. Thirdly and most importantly, when I slow to break, the car revs up, as if it won't stop. This is very unsettling. I'm never at ease because of this. This is a newer vehicle. There's a Toyota Camry 2011 and a Mitsubishi Outlander 2018 outperforming my newer Lincoln MKC 2019. I'm now afraid to drive the MKC because of the safety concerns. I just bought the car in October 5, 2022. I've reported this to corporate Lincoln. I don't understand why there hasn't been a recall. I do notice a flood of these vehicles in the market for sale. I'm afraid to drive this vehicle.

Not always, but when it is wet raining weather the wipers will not work properly. They slow step across the windshield and/or stop working all together. This was repaired a few months after we purchased the vehicle in September 2019. It happen again in March 2021 and now in May 2021. The dealer kept the vehicle for two weeks in March and said it was a ground wire issue. I took the vehicle back May 2021after running into rain and they wouldn't work, but started working by the time I got it back to the dealer and the rain had stopped. We are worried that at anytime we could run into rain and they could stop working, we have been lucky that the times it stopped working it was daylight and not at night.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE (SINCE 02/02/19), THERE IS A CONSTANT VIBRATION THAT FEELS LIKE I'M DRIVING ON RUMBLE STRIPS OVER NEWLY PAVED ROADS. WHEN ON PATCHED ROADS, THE VEHICLE SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY, THAT IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS GOING TO FALL APART. NO PICS TO SHOW OR SOUND FROM THE VEHICLE. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TRIPS THE DEALERSHIP, WHO INITIALLY REPORTED IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH FLAT SPOTS IN THE TIRES, HOWEVER, AFTER THEY WE CHANGED (WITH TIRES FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE LOT) THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. THE NEXT REASON WAS 'THAT THE VIBRATION WAS INTRINSIC TO THE VEHICLE.' THE DEALER HAS 'REBALANCED THE TIRES MULTIPLE TIMES' WHICH ONLY CHANGES THE SPEED AT WHICH THE VIBRATION IS FELT THE GREATEST. THE RANGE OF SPEED IS 25-50, IS LESS INTENSE FROM 50-60, AND RESUMES INTENSITY FROM 60+.
