I STARTED MY CAR AND THE ERROR "POWER STEERING FAILURE" CAME ON, I WAS COMPLETELY UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THERE WAS NO WARNING AND I CAN'T TURN IT AT ALL. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WERE DRIVING IT! THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND IF THE 2011'S WERE RECALLED, AND IT IS HAPPENING TO THIS MANY PEOPLE WITH A 2010, MAYBE THEY SHOULD DO A RECALL ON IT AS WELL!

ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WENT OUT. TOOK TO LOCAL DEALER 3 TIMES---COMPUTER RESET FIRST TIME; SECOND TIME CAME UP 'ELECTRICAL ISSUE'. THIRD TIME COMPUTER SAID REPLACE RACK AND PINION. CAR PURCHASED AS CPO IN 2013 FROM ROCHESTER, MN DEALERSHIP WITH 17000 MILES. SEVEN YEARS LATER IT HAS 47000 MILES. THIS MODEL WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL STARTING WITH 2011 VEHICLES. PERHAPS 2010 VEHICLES SHOULD BE AS WELL. VERY DANGEROUS TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MAINTENANCE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER GENGRAS FORD (225 NEW BRITAIN AVE, PLAINVILLE, CT 06062, (860) 793-8885). UPON INVESTIGATION, THE DEALER ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.

TIRE WENT FLAT AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING. I COULD NOT EVEN DRIVE IT TO THE NEAREST SERVICE STATION ON THE SPARE TIRE AND HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. SAFETY RECALL ON 2011 AND NEWER BUT NOT ON 2010 - THIS CAR HAS A DANGEROUS POWER STEERING UNIT AND YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE A CAR THAT'S INOPERABLE JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE A FLAT TIRE.

WHILE DRIVING, ON RT. 264 THE EPAS STEERING TURNED OFF WITHOUT WARNING. MY WIFE HAD TO FIGHT TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SO GREAT THAT I HAD TO TAKE OVER FROM MY WIFE. IT TOOK ALL MY EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, IT WAS SO STIFF. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TODAY AND HAD IT CHECKED OUT. THEY REPORTED THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY LOW TIRE PRESSURE. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS FROM THE TPMS. I WAS TOLD THAT, IN THE CASE OF A REOCCURRANCE, THAT SIMPLY INFLATING THE TIRES WOULD NOT SUFFICE, BUT THAT THE SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE RESET BY A FORD DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER.

WE HAVE BEEN HAVING ONGOING ISSUES OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS, AT LEAST. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR SAME THING. SOME OF THE ISSUES I HAVE READ REGARDING THE F150 ARE THE ISSUES I AM HAVING WITH MY 2010 LINCOLN MKS. DRIVING HIGHWAY, CRUISE WILL FALL OFF, YOU FEEL IT SOMEWHAT JERK OFF. CRUISING LATER AND IT FALLS OFF AGAIN, THEN YOU CANNOT DETERMINE IF IT WILL CONTINUE RUNNING OR DIE. IT SHUTTERS, JERKS, IT SEEMS TO LOSE POWER. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING. IT IS VERY INTERMITTENT, BUT HAS BEEN MORE FREQUENT LATELY. IT DOES SEEM TO STUMBLE/MISFIRE. JERKING AROUND, NOT SURE IF IT WILL DIE. I WAS PULLING INTO MY PARKING SPOT IN FRONT OF MY HOME, APPLYING THE BRAKE, WHEN THE ENGINE THROTTLED UP AND THE CAR BOLTED FORWARD. APPLYING THE BRAKE EVEN MORE DID NOT STOP THE CAR. The contact owns a 2010 Lincoln MKS. The contact stated that upon placing her vehicle into park(P), the temperature gauge indicated that the engine was hot. The engine then failed to restart after the failure. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where she was informed that the water pump was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT, I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A LOUD WHIRLING SOUND THEN SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT THE EXHAUST. I WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE TURBO CHARGER. THEN I HAD THEM REPLACED THREE MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING MY CAR LOST POWER. THE THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND I COULDN'T MOVE THE CAR. I LEFT THE CAR WHERE IT WAS, THEN CAME BACK THE NEXT DAY AND IT DROVE FINE I TOOK IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP IN THE MECHANIC COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS AND TODAY WHEN I WENT TO PICK THE CAR UP THE CAR STARTED SMOKING AGAIN NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY TYPE OF SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON.

LINCOLN MKS 2010 LOST POWER ON HIGHWAY AND STARTED SHAKING. TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO DID A TUNE-UP, CHECKED THE TURBOS AND NOW SAYS IT NEEDS THE MOTOR REPLACED DUE TO A BAD CYLINDER. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THESE ECOBOOST ENGINES WHICH ARE FAILING.

JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR ABOUT A MONTH AGO OFF THE USED LOT AT A FORD DEALERSHIP 59,000 MILES NOW IS AT 63,000 AND ON EVERY START UP IT MAKES A LOUD CLICKING NOISE TOOK IT BACK THEY TOLD ME THEY NEW RIGHT WHAT IT WAS BECAUSE THE F150S AND THE TAURUS SHOS WITH THE 3.5 ECO BOOST I GUESS THEY HAVE THE PROBLEM MORE OFTEN THEN THE LINCOLNS. THE TIMING CHAIN TENSIONOR IS LOSING ITS PRIME THEY TOLD ME AND WILL BE $3000 TO FIX SUCKS BEING I JUST PAID $15,000 CASH FOR IT A MONTH AGO.

DEALERSHIP SAID THEY NEED TO CHECK ON STATUS OF TAKATA BANKRUPTCY TO SEE IF RECALL CAN BE DONE. SAID THEY WOULD CALL BACK.

The 2011 through 2013 Lincoln MKS were recalled for the electric power steering assist suddenly going out and it is the same on this car and could have gotten someone seriously hurt these need to be added to the recall thanks for looking.

My car will intermittently (more times than not) lose its power steering assist, making it almost impossible for me to drive. I've had the car looked at, replaced the rack and pinion assembly, put on new tires, ran a diagnostic, and the car still lacks power steering most of the time. When starting the vehicle, the wheel will lock up, and the message "Power Steering Assist Fault" displays, no matter how many times I try to restart the car and allow the computer to reset, the fault does not go away. I rarely have times when I can drive with a power steering assist. The car has become a serious problem because I cannot get to work or school safely; when driving the other day, the power steering went out, and I was almost in an accident. I believe that there is a defect in the 2010 MKS, just like there was with the other years that were recalled, the fact that this issue has cost me so much money (and I cannot get out from under the car, I would if I could), and still puts me at risk for serious injury is seriously concerning.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO DEPRESS THE BUTTON TWICE BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD START. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOAD CD'S INTO THE CD PLAYER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CD'S WERE THE CAUSE OF THE CD PLAYER FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. BRAKE PEDAL INVARIABLY COLLAPSES COMPLETELY TO FLOOR WHEN THEY ARE DEPRESSED CAUSING THE BRAKES TO NOT PROPERLY FUNCTION. THIS TYPICALLY OCCURS UPON STARTUP, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED IN ORDER TO MOVE THE GEAR SELECTOR. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL MONTHS. OTHER OPERATORS OF THE VEHICLES HAVE NOTICED A CLICKING OR POPPING SENSATION THAT COULD BE FELT BY THE DRIVER DURING DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. I DECIDED TO CARRY THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER EXPERIENCING TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE TEMPORARILY WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. DUE TO THE SUDDEN LANE INTRUSION BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHICH REQUIRED EMERGENCY BRAKING AND MANEUVERING, I EXPERIENCED SUBSTANTIAL UNDERPERFORMING OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM DURING BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSION; THERE WAS VERY LITTLE BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE. DURING THIS PARTICULAR EVENT, I EXPERIENCED VERY SIMILAR BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSION THAT I INVARIABLY EXPERIENCE DURING STARTUPS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE A DEFECTIVE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DIAGNOSED AS THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE CAR WAS SUBSEQUENTLY RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP (WHERE IT REMAINS AT THIS MOMENT) BECAUSE OF RECURRENCE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL PROBLEM AND IMPROPER BRAKING SYSTEM, WHICH MAKES THE CAR UNSAFE TO OPERATE. WHILE DRIVING I EXPERIENCED ALOUD VIOLET KNOCK AND HESITATION, STALL, WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING. IT FEELS LIKE A SUDDEN LOST OF POWER WHICH LAST FOR 5-7 SECONDS. THIS KNOCK AND HESITATION OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY, IT'S SCARY TO DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THIS, I FEAR THE VEHICLE MAY COMPLETELY STALL IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. AS A RESULT, THE FRONT BUMPER CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER RESERVOIR WHICH MADE LIQUID SPILL OUT. WHILE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH HIS ELBOW ON THE MIDDLE ARMREST, THE CONTACT'S HAND BECAME CAUGHT BETWEEN THE CLOSINGS CAUSING HIM TO INJURE HIS HAND. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.

There have been 2 separate incidents involving a front collision at high speeds. Both times, the air bags did not deploy as they should have. The 2nd incident was today. The car is now totaled. The impact Both times should have deployed the air bags. My son was injured today due to this. A truck ran a stop sign and we hit him. None of the bags deployed. Speed was 45 mph. The whole front of the car and hood are completely crushed. There were no alarms during or before impact. This is the 2nd wreck.

THE ELECTRICAL POWER ASSISTED STEERING FAILED AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THIS UNIT CEASES OPERATION, IT ALSO AFFECTS THE VEHICLE POWER TRAIN BY SHUTTING DOWN THE TRACTION CONTROL AND THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING, IT SEEMS. WHEN THE ELECTRICAL ASSIST STOP WORKING, THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AS IT TAKES ALL THE EFFORT A PERSON CAN MUSTER TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS A VERY BAD STEERING SYSTEM.

IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL MADE AN ABNORMAL SQUEAKING NOISE WHILE TRAVELING UNDER 25 MPH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.

WE HAD A 2009 MKS WHICH ACCELERATED BY IT SELF ON APRIL 21, 2014 AND CAUSED MY WIFE TO HIT A TREE AND SPEND THREE DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL AND ALSO TOTALED OUT OUR CAR. NOT KNOWING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR, WE BROUGHT A 2010 MKS ON MAY 7, 2010 AND ON MAY 8, 2014 WHEN MY WIFE PULLED INTO OUR DRIVEWAY, THAT CAR ALSO HAD AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OPPOSITE CAUSING IT TO SURGE AT A HIGH SPEED RUNNING THROUGH OUR GARAGE DOOR AND THE CORNER OF OUR HOUSE. I THEN LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL CLASS ACTION LAW SUITS IN ABOUT 14 STATES DEALING WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION DEALING WITH THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLES CAUSING THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. TO OUR SURPRISE BOTH OF THE CARS WE BROUGHT THE 2009 AND 2010 MKS WAS ON THIS LIST FOR THIS SCARY AND FRIGHTENING PROBLEM. NOW HOW YOU WE GET THIS DEFECT CORRECTED, SO WE CAN DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY? LINCOLN 2009/2010 THROTTLES DOWN WHEN A/C ENGAGES. AFTER 1 YEAR OF REPLACEMENT OF PARTS. INCLUDING A/C COMPRESSOR. MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. THROTTLE SYSTEM. CAR REPLACED 1&1/2 LATER WITH 2010. AT FIRST USE OF A/C 2010 CAR THROTTLED DOWN CAUSING IT TO JERK..REPORTED TO SERVICE MANAGER WHO STATED WITHOUT INSPECTION IT WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE CAR. I REQUESTED A FIELD ENGINEER TO INSPECT. CAR INSPECTED AND 2010 MKS DID THROTTLE DOWN 50-70 RPM . THE CAR THROTTLES DOWN GOING DOWN THE ROAD. ENGINEER STATED HE WOULD REPLACE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AT 1ST SERVICE OF CAR ON5/28/10. WHEN I CALLED TO SCHEDULE SERVICE ,SERVICE MANAGER STATED HE RECEIVED REPORT AND MATTER CLOSED IT WAS A CHARACTER OF THE CAR. THERE IS AN ELECTRONIC PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THE MKS TO THROTTLE DOWN WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THAT IS A POSSIBLE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ANYONE. NOTE THIS PROBLEM IS NOT AS BAD AS THE 2009 I HAD AS IT SHOOK EVEN AT IDLE. I BELIEVE FORD/LINCOLN MKS HAS AN ELECTRONIC MANUFACTURES DEFECT. SOMEONE NEEDS TO HAVE FORD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE THEM ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. I OWN A 2009 LINCOLN MKS AND I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. PROBLEM 1 IS WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP, THERE IS A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. I'VE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIX IT. THEY DO SOME TYPE OF REPAIR BUT TO NO AVAIL. THEY KEEP SAYING FORD IS AWARE OF THE SITUATION AND IS WORKING ON A SOLUTION. PROBLEM 2 WHICH IS MUCH MORE SERIOUS. THE ANTII-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON FOR NO REASON AND THE DEALER IS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, THE BRAKES ACTUALLY LOCKED UP WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN. I HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION UNTIL THE SYSTEM RESET. IT WAS DANGEROUS. WHEN I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER, AGAIN THEY SAID IT THE CAR DID NOT REPORT A FAULT IN THE SYTEM AND THERE WAS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE.
