ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

While driving, the entire dashboard and instrument cluster intermittently go completely blank, disabling visibility of speed, gear position, warning lights, turn signals, and other critical information. The failure occurs suddenly and without warning. The cluster then goes through multiple reboot cycles, sometimes several times in a row. In many cases, normal operation does not return until the vehicle is fully shut off and restarted. This creates a serious safety risk, especially at highway speeds or at night. The issue first occurred around 71,000 miles (Oct 2024) and has recurred multiple times. The most recent incident occurred on Oct 31, 2025 at approximately 84,200 miles. The vehicle has been to a Lincoln dealership in Raleigh, NC for four repair attempts (Dec 2024–Oct 2025). Multiple electrical modules have been replaced (battery, fuse junction box, trunk module, telematics module, keyless entry keypad), and Lincoln engineers were consulted, but the defect remains unresolved. No diagnostic trouble codes were stored during the most recent failure. The vehicle is currently covered under a Lincoln ESP PremiumCARE warranty through 2030, and the defect remains intermittent and unresolved.

There have been consistent issues with the car due to the electrical system. The car has purchased 3/24/23 as used. The car has been in for maintenance and repairs 5 times since June 6, 2024 at the cost of $3,744.88. The car has cut off while driving. One time it happened on a a major thoroughfare at rush hour. The engine light came on. When the car stopped, it wouldn’t restart. It was towed to Lithia Springs Ford. The fuel pump and driver module was replaced for $1,706.10 on 7/12/24. On 8/21/24, all the lights came on the dashboard. The car was diagnosed and the GSM was replaced as well as the repair connector C219, Power Relay at the cost of $967.83. 9/9/24, the check engine light came on and the car was diagnosed and the purge value assembly and was replaced at the cost of $543.67. Presently, the car is in for repair again for replacement of the fuse panel, with the estimated cost of between $700-$800.

Leased 2019 Lincoln Nautilus has needed 10 roadside assistance calls and has been in the Lincoln Service for warranty work at least 9 times in the last 6 months for the same issue. The vehicle's battery is being drained when the vehicle is completely shut off. I've had numerous issues when going to start my vehicle for work or personal transportation and the vehicle's battery is drained. As a first responder my vehicle operational dependability is a priority. I've needed numerous jump starts from Lincoln roadside service to get to work. At times I was unavailable to get to work because of the dead battery. I've had the car in Lincoln service for the same issue 9 times with no resolve. My vehicle has been in the service department over 9 times now. I am currently in a loaner car because my vehicle is in the service department. When the problem first started my rear hatch door opened while I was driving the vehicle. Shortly after that the battery was draining when the car was shut off. This is a not only a transportation issue but also a safety issue.

Car starts to buck when changing gears
Oct 12, 2025
The Nautilus began shuddering while accelerating from about 15 to 45 mph. I took it to a Lincoln dealer and was told the transmission needed to be repaired or replaced for $7,000 plus. It has 88,000 miles on it
Oct 08, 2025
transmission problems including harsh shifting, shuttering, lurching, hesitating, or slowing down when shifting gears. No warning lights illuminated but after dealer inspection, have been told that both the transmission (harsh shift in all gears) and rear axle (popping and grinding while turning) need to be replaced. The vehicle is not safe to drive. Cost of repairs is quoted at more than $14,000. This issue/defect appears to have a class action associated with it; why has there been no manufacturer recall?

Transmission causes the car to jerk and shudder at speeds below 50 MPH. Lincoln dealer says it is the Torque Converter that is causing the issue. Issue could cause the car to stall or not start. There are no check engine lights lit at this time. This is a known issue by Ford/Lincoln with Technical Service Bulletins describing this issue. The initial incident happened in 2023 with the dealer telling me this was normal for the vehicle. It has become worse with increasing jerking and shuddering at higher speeds. My last trip to the dealer on 8/19/25 resulted in them telling me I need a new torque converter and now the car is out of warranty.

The acceleration of the car became difficult and was followed by noise and switch to high gears. Was about to enter an expressway. Did a U-turn last moment. Turned back home and was barely able to park it on the driveway. Was driving with the [XXX] toddler in my car during a thunderstorm. Was lucky the car didn’t stop on expressway. Noticed that the driveway is covered in fluid with rainbow coloring. That trip was about 10 minutes long, that it took me to drive and come back. The shifting of the gears are now impossible. Exhaust heat shield comes loose. This could cause a grass fire or damage to the car itself posing a potential for injury. This obviously is an engineering flaw that should be looked at and repaired. I brought my Lincoln Nautilus to an authorized Lincoln dealership due to a serious transmission issue. The dealer kept the vehicle for four days, diagnosed a potential transmission failure, and told me that the transmission could “blow.” However, they returned the car to me unrepaired and admitted they could not fix it anytime soon. The reason: the dealership has only one transmission technician, and that person is currently working through a backlog of transmission jobs from March. My vehicle — with a known safety risk — was effectively placed at the back of a months-long line, with no estimated repair date. I contacted Lincoln Concierge, who opened a case but informed me there was “nothing they could do.” I now have a car that is unsafe to drive due to a transmission issue that the manufacturer and dealership both acknowledge but are unable to address in a timely or safe manner. This presents a serious safety risk. A transmission failure while driving could result in loss of control, sudden deceleration, or breakdown in active traffic. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate this issue as a systemic safety failure — both in terms of the defect itself and Lincoln’s inability to service it promptly.

We have already had major repairs to this vehicle. Replaced head gasket and torque converter with only 60,938 miles. Fortunately we caught those under warranty but had to spend $1043.28 on a purge valve replacement at 67,795 miles. Lincoln sold us on service and reliability but moved out of the Calallen area shortly after we purchased the vehicle and left us without a loaner vehicle at any of the local Ford dealerships. Closest Lincoln dealership is in San Antonio 2 hrs away. Currently, we have sluggish acceleration with the check engine light code - P0401 - indicating a problem with the EGR valve. We replaced EGR valve and cleared the check engine light but sluggish acceleration remains. We no longer have the time or money to put into this poorly manufactured vehicle as we need this vehicle for transportation to work.

Water has entered a headlight and has caused the turn signal, DRL and headlight functions to fail intermittently. Ford/Lincoln has inspected and acknowledge the defect, and it is covered under warranty. However, they have not and do not admit to having a replacement headlight available. They do have headlight assemblies available for new car production and choose to use the new assemblies for new car production but have not set aside a headlight to honor my warranty claim in over 2 months. This is a significant safety issue for me and my family.

HEADLIGHTS. THE HEADLIGHTS DURING THE NIGHT WHEN IN AUTO MODE WILL FLASH THE HIGH BEAMS WITHOUT INDICATION ON THE DASH. THE FLASHING LIGHTS CAUSE DISTRACTIONS ON THE ROADS WHILE DRIVING, BLINDING ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND SIGNALING OTHER DRIVERS. THE VEHICLE DOES HAVE AUTO HIGH BEAM FEATURE BUT THE HEADLIGHTS ARE FLASHING WHEN TRAFFIC IS PRESENT IN WELL LIT AREAS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND HAS BEEN ADDRESS WITH LINCOLN WHO HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. VEHICLE LIGHTING IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A DEADLY ACCIDENT ON THE ROADS. IN INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS SUCH AS "FOG" COULD BLIND THE DRIVER OR OTHER DRIVERS AND CAUSE A CRASH. THERE HAS BEEN OTHER LINCOLN NAUTILUS BROUGHT IN FOR THE SAME ISSUES AND WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT IT IS OUR VISION AND NOT THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A RECORDING OF THE VEHICLE IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FLASHING THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS IN WELL LIT CONDITIONS WITH TRAFFIC. THIS WAS NOTICED WHEN THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD LESS THAN 1K MILES ON IT AND CONTINUES TO DO SO. I WAS ALSO FLAGGED BY POLICE FOR FLASHING LIGHTS AND LINCOLN TOLD ME THAT IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN TO LET THE OFFICER KNOW THAT I HAD IT SERVICED. IF I CAUSE AN ACCIDENT I WILL FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND/OR LINCOLN MOTOR COMPANY.

WHILE DRIVING THE 2019 LINCOLN NAUTILUS ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY WITH ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND LANE CENTERING ON, THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN TURNED INTO THE NEXT LANE. IT DOES THIS BOTH TO THE RIGHT AND THE LEFT. I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH BOTH MY MOTHER AND THE LINCOLN SERVICE MANAGER ON SEPARATE INCIDENTS WHEN IT OCCURRED. ALSO, I TOOK IT ON A TEST DRIVE WITH THE LEAD MECHANIC AND IT DID THE SAME THING TO HIM TO THE RIGHT, RIGHT WHERE OUR VETERINARIAN OFFICE IS LOCATED. CENTER LINE WAS STILL THERE. AFTER THEY HAD THE CAR FOR A FEW DAYS, AND A CONVERSATION WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER, THEY DETERMINED THAT IT WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED, THEY CHECKED OTHER NON-NAUTULIS VEHICLES AND FOUND THE SAME THING. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN ON AN INTERSTATE. I WAS SHOCKED. THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND AN INTERSTATE. I AM A RETIRED NAVY OPERATIONAL TEST PILOT, AND WE WOULD NEVER ALLOW THIS TO BE GIVEN TO THE FLEET OPERATORS. I CHECKED THE OPERATORS MANUAL ON PAGE 239. HERE IS WHAT IT SAYS: THE SYSTEM MAY NOT CORRECTLY OPERATE IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: ' YOUR VEHICLE IS NOT CENTERED IN THE LANE. ' THE LANE IS TOO NARROW OR WIDE. ' THE SYSTEM DOES NOT DETECT AT LEAST ONE LANE MARKING OR WHEN LANES MERGE OR SPLIT. ' YOU SWITCH THE DIRECTION INDICATOR ON. ' LIMITED STEERING TORQUE INPUT IS APPLIED. ' AREAS UNDER CONSTRUCTION OR NEW INFRASTRUCTURE. ' WHEN MODIFICATIONS TO THE STEERING SYSTEM HAVE BEEN MADE. ' WHEN USING A SPARE TIRE. NOTE CONDITION ABOVE: ' THE SYSTEM DOES NOT DETECT AT LEAST ONE LANE MARKING OR WHEN LANES MERGE OR SPLIT AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENTS THERE WERE TURN LANES ON EACH SIDE OF THE CAR WITH SMALL OPENINGS TO MOVE INTO THE TURN LANE. THE CENTER LANE MARKINGS WERE ALWAYS THERE.

Adaptive Steering Fault Service Required - This warning came on while I was driving down the road. The steering wheel automatically went from a center position to the left like I was making a left turn. The vehicle continued going straight with the steering wheel in the left position. Needless to say, It was very alarming when this happened. I drove home and made an appointent for service. The next day the fault code was off and steering was normal but I still brought it to my Lincoln dealership for service and they said a module in the steering column is faulty. In Fords/Lincoln design you cannot just replace the module, you need to replace the entire steering column at a price of $5000.00 (part 3600.00, labor 1400.00). I did find on the interweb that this has been a problem with Ford trucks and a few other Naultilus owners have reported this problem.

Okay let me first start by saying I have had problem after problem with this car in less than a year. I’ve had to replace my purge valve. The transmission on this car is horrible. I had my car less than a year and at not even 70k miles I had to get my transmission replaced because the car would stutter between 25-45mph thankfully my warranty covered everything. Now let’s get to my current issues which is with the adaptive steering malfunction. I got a steering wheel warning light 3 days before my new transmission. As I’m looking into this more this will cost $2000+ to replace and I don’t have money to constantly keep putting into a car especially with everything going on currently.

I know there is a bulletin out from Ford about the PCM , where it says recall on the bottom, yet unannounce. This mimics the issues with the torque converter, the ones that I have in my 2019 lincoln nautilus. About two months ago, I felt a kick. where It thought I had been hit by another car, it was so hard. From that point on, the smoothness of the transmission below 35 miles/hr, was jerky and hesitant, kicking and not accelerating properly. The dealer said that it was the torque converter and that it was very bad. The car is too new to have these types of catastrophic issues. It was $9000 to resolve the issue according to the dealer. I had to go somewhere else. Also the screen has problems where it turns blue, and stops working, where the music playing will also stop and you cannot skip to another song. A hard reboot is the solution, but on a daily basis? I know that other models, the Aviator and Corsair, have the same issues. I have the same problem. When contacting Lincoln dealer for the same issue, they state there is no recall. I really like the Lincoln but there seem to be quite a few problems. Will these be placed in a recall list? The fixes so far have been really expensive.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
1 complaint
The contact owns a 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, the failure recurred while parking the vehicle and while at a complete stop. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH downhill, a coolant message was displayed. The contact decelerated and drove to the residence. The contact's neighbor assisted the contact in adding coolant to the vehicle. The contact stated while driving to an independent mechanic, the contact noticed white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The mechanic diagnosed that the engine was blown due to coolant intrusion in the cylinders and needed to be replaced. The mechanic ordered the part and replaced the engine. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer to be reprogrammed; however, the dealer informed the contact that the new engine had failed due to coolant intrusion in the cylinders. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced and ordered the part. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.

The component that has failed is the Transmisson. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. We are at risk of being stranded on major highways with small children every day. This vehicle problem has been inspected by both the dealer and two independent service centers. There was one symptom noted that behaved like there may have been water in the gasoline tank. After several attempts to solve the problem, including a Tune-up, we began to see symbols that suggested a more severe problem. These symptoms began the Spring of 2024. There are still warning lamps, messages and frightening symptoms that have resulted from this system failure. I LOVE my vehicle. Imagine my disappointment to learn that many FORD vehicles are under a "silent recall" for such repair that the company is well aware of, yet you sold me this vehicle anyway. Please notify me that you will replace the Transmission or give me full trade in value toward a 2025 Lincoln Nautilus. Our family has been a FORD family for many years. We'd like to remain. What can you do? Thank you for your careful consideration.

Reported to Lincoln over a year ago about DEATH WOBBLE on this vehicle. Have taken to 3 dealerships to have checked out and have not found anything. BUT IT IS STILL HAPPENNING. Have suggested to have an engineer from the company to ride along. Not happening. The keep closing the case. September of last year we were driving through Richmond, Virginia on our way to Florida and, it went into the DEATH WOBBLE at 65mph. Shook so bad it snapped my front hitch system and could not tow the car and had to be trailer towed to a dealership. There are other reports out there on the web of other people having the same issue. Was told at one point it could be my equipment. After it broke my system last September and almost lost the car, my insurance company paid to have car repaired and installed a NEW Blue Ox system and it did it again. This time at slower speed and I was able to control. Told ALL DEALERSHIPS AND LINCOLN howitzer is happening and steering is not going back to zero after I make a turn or hit a bump. No reaction. One dealership told me I should not be towing that car, but the car is set up to be towed, according to owners manual. Repair documentation is with Lincoln and insurance company, with all reports. Have a date of September of last year because that was the big one, but started August of 2023, March of 2024, August of 2024 2 times. Each time reported to Lincoln and taken to shop. Could have been a serious accident if I didn't control the motorhome and car.

This car has had continued issues with gear shifting up and down. It was bright into a dealership last year to fix the recall issues, however, it seems to have made it worse. It's nearly caused accidents.

Was slowly entering my garage when there was a sudden acceleration. Put on brake but not before my car went thru the back garage wall and fell about four feet down before hitting the patio floor. It traveled across the patio and went over some furniture on the deck. The air bag never went off. The transmission had been very temperamental before this happened. I was not injured but could have caused a real issue had I been in traffic. I love the car but I personally will not drive it again. It is a 2019 Lincoln Nautilus.

TIRES
1 complaint
Tire size 265/40 R 21. I had 2 tires fail with sidewall breaks on this car, which was purchased on 8/23/2019. These were the original tires that came with the car. First sidewall problem occurred on 3/25/2021 when the car had only 6,700 miles on it. That tire was replaced. Tires were maintained and rotated as recommended by dealer. Then on 10/12/2021 when the car had 9,234 miles on it a second original tire cracked on the sidewall near the rim. Two tires failed in the same way in under 10,000 miles. Continental refuses to pro-rate the cost of the new tires or take any responsibility. I have since replaced all 4 tires with a different brand. Since Contintental has a record of recalling tires for sidewall defects in the manufacturing process, and I have no recollection of damaging the tires while on the road, I believe them to be defective.

I WAS DRIVING IN THE LEFT LANE, OF A MULTI-LANE INTERSTATE. I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON. THERE WAS A STANDARD-SIZED DUMP TRUCK IN THE LANE NEXT TO MINE, UP AHEAD. THE ROAD WAS STRAIGHT, WITH ONLY A SLIGHT INCLINE. THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME FOR AT LEAST A HALF OF A MILE OR MORE, AND ALL TRAFFIC WAS RUNNING SMOOTHLY. AS I PASSED THE TRUCK, THE CAR SUDDENLY JAMMED ON THE BRAKES. I'M NOT SURE, BUT I EITHER INSTINCTIVELY HIT CANCEL ON THE CRUISE CONTROL, OR I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. EITHER WAY, IT ARRESTED THE HARD BRAKING SITUATION. I NOTICED THAT THE SUN WAS AT MY 2 O'CLOCK POSITION, AND AS I BEGAN TO PASS THE DUMP TRUCK, ITS' SHADOW WAS THROWN ONTO MY VEHICLE. I'M SURMISING THAT PERHAPS THE COMPUTER THOUGHT THE SHADOW WAS AN OBJECT AND TOOK ACTION. REGARDLESS, THIS WAS AN ENORMOUS SAFETY ISSUE. HAD THERE BEEN A VEHICLE CLOSE BEHIND ME, IT WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY RESULTED IN A MASSIVE ACCIDENT. IF THIS CAR CONTAINS AN EVENT RECORDER, I WOULD BE HAPPY FOR YOU OR LINCOLN TO DOWNLOAD THE DATA. I HAVE LOST ALL CONFIDENCE IN THE "SAFETY" FEATURES OF THIS CAR, PARTICULARLY THE ACTIVE BRAKING SYSTEM / COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. I HAVE NOTICED IN THE PAST, THAT IT WILL JAM ON THE BRAKES AS IT'S COMING AROUND A CURVE ON A MULTI LANE ROAD, WHEN IT DOESN'T "SEE" THAT THE CAR AHEAD OF ME, IS ACTUALLY IN ANOTHER LANE. I HAD LEARNED TO ANTICIPATE THAT BEHAVIOR, BUT NOT THE BEHAVIOR EXPERIENCED YESTERDAY, WITH THE ALL-OUT PANIC BRAKE. IF THERE IS ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP INVESTIGATE THIS INCIDENT, PLEASE CONTACT ME ASAP.

DRIVING ABOUT 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, PARTLY CLOUDY DAY, 70-75 F. HEARD CRACKING SOUND, LIKE CRUMPLING ALUMINUM FOIL FOR A FEW SECONDS BEFORE A LOUD EXPLOSION OF OVERHEAD TEMPERED GLASS SUNROOF AND GLASS FALLING DOWN ON US. NOT AWARE OF ANY ROAD DEBRIS HITTING CAR OR WINDSHIELD PRIOR TO INCIDENT. HEARD NO OBJECT HIT SUNROOF BEFORE GLASS CRACKING SOUND. NO EVIDENCE AFTERWARDS OF ROAD DEBRIS DAMAGE TO ANY CAR SURFACES OR WINDSHIELD. CAUSE OF FAILURE MAY BE LARGE SIZE OF HIGHLY STRESSED TEMPERED GLASS IN CONJUNCTION WITH RIGIDITY/FLEXIBILITY OF SURROUNDING SUPPORT STRUCTURE, INTERNAL DEFECT, OR EDGE FLAW. *TR

WHILE STOPPED AT A DRIVE THRU TODAY THE CAR STARTED GIVING OFF MULTIPLE WARNINGS OF SAFETY FAILURES--BLIND SPOT MONITORING, CAMERA, LANE KEEP, HILL ASSIST, AND AUTO HOLD. THE FINAL WARNING WAS A POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A QUICK TWO MINUTE TRIP HOME AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE HILL START ASSIST AND FORWARD COLLISION WARNING BOTH FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. FOLLOWING THAT, WHEN RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL FAILS TO ILLUMINATE. THIS DISABLES THE VIEW OF ANY OF THE CONTROL PANEL NOTIFICATIONS, ALONG WITH THE SPEEDOMETER. WHILE THE INSTRUMENT CONTROL PANEL IS DISABLED, THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT FAILURE NOTIFICATION APPEARS SEVERAL TIMES. RESTARTING THE VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM, IT TYPICALLY TAKES 24 HOURS BEFORE THE FUNCTION RETURNS.
