For some unknown reasons my windows go down while Driving , Sometimes they may work fine, then out of Know where all all 4 Windows go Down at any Time , came be Very Dangerous in a Rain Storm or Huracane , i have taken my Car to atleasat 2-3 Shops they Pretend to repair it and said they needed a better Scanner. I don't Know what to do, it's Very dangerous to Drive in the Rain.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 MERCEDES BENZ CLK 430. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE AND CLOCK GAUGES WERE DEFECTIVE AND HE WAS UNABLE TO DISTINGUISH THE ENTIRE NUMBERS OF THE TEMPERATURE AND CLOCK READINGS. FOR EXAMPLE, IF THE TEMPERATURE WAS 85 DEGREES, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WOULD ONLY DISPLAY THE 5. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER INSPECTED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,500.

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

WENT TO PUT MY TOP UP ON MERCEDES CABRIOLET PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. WITH THE KEY ON AND THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF, IN PARK, PARKING BRAKE ON, PRESSED CLOSURE BUTTON. DURING CLOSURE HEADRESTS BEGAN TO RAISE. NOT A SUDDEN POP UP KIND OF RAISING, BUT A SLOW, STEADY RAISING, AS IF I HAD MY HAND ON THE BUTTON TO RAISE THEM, YET I DID NOT. IT'S ON THE DASH, AND I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR, AND HAD NO ITEMS IN THE CAR EITHER. FOR THE RECORD, WHILE FEMALE, I GREW UP RACING CARS, HAVE CHANGED MY OWN ENGINE, TURBO, TRANSMISSION, SHOCKS, SPRINGS, ETC. THESE TWO SEAT AND TOP PROCESSES ARE MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE SO THEN NEITHER WOULD WORK. CLEARLY UP THEY GREATLY IMPACT VISIBILITY PLUS THE TOP WILL NOT GO UP. SECONDLY TO GET THE TOP OVER THE HEADRESTS, ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL IT'S IMPOSSIBLE, BUT SAID ANOTHER WAY, IT'S A FOUR PERSON JOB. GIVEN THE LIMITED VISIBILITY OF THE CABRIOLET TOP UP ANYWAY, ADDING THE RAISED HEADRESTS, NOW IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE TOP BLOCKS 2/5 OF THE VISIBILITY. THE HEADRESTS UP BLOCK 2/5 OF THE VISIBILITY. ALL THAT IS LEFT IS THE 1/5 BETWEEN THEM - A VERY NARROW RANGE OF VIEW. AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT IS.THEY SAY WHEN THEY DEPLOY FALSELY IT'S LIKE AIRBAGS AND THEY CANNOT JUST GO BACK DOWN AND THEY REPLACE A NUMBER OF THESE. IF THIS IS SUPPOSED TO DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A ROLLOVER OR ACCIDENT, FOR THIS TO DEPLOY WITHOUT HITTING ANYTHING, YET TO IMPACT VISIBILITY WITH NO WAY TO RETURN TO NORMAL VISIBILITY OR PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE ELEMENTS, SURELY THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS SEEMS MUCH AKIN TO THE AIRBAGS FALSELY DEPLOYING. THE CAR WAS NOT TURNED ON, NOT MOVING, HAD NOT HIT ANYTHING, AND HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN A HALF HOUR. FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO INSTANTLY RECOGNIZE WHAT IT WAS, WHAT PART IT NEEDED, HOW THE SEATS NEEDED TO COME OUT TO FIX IT, ETC. SHOWS THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED SAFETY INCIDENT AND SHOULD MAKE IT A RECALL ITEM.

WHILE ON MY WAY TO WORK I STOP TO GET GAS. I GET IN MY CAR TO LEAVE AND KEY WILL NOT TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. ALSO STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. I WAS STRANDED AND HAD CAR TOWED THE MB DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID FIRST I HAVE TO BUY NEW KEY BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING WHICH COST ME $380. GOT NEW KEY AND THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM. THEN THEY SAID MY EIS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY REPLACED THE EIS, THEN I GET A CALL SAYING CAR STILL WILL NOT START. NOW THEY SAY I NEED A ESL(ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK) NOW MY TOTAL JUMPED UP TO 2,200. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR AS-IS IN OCTOBER OF 2011. AT THAT TIME IT HAD 67,500 MILES ON IT. IN ABOUT MARCH OF 2012 WE NOTICED THAT THERE WERE THREE MAJOR THINGS WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THEY ALL APPEARED TO BE ELECTRICAL. THE WINDSHIELD SPRAY DID NOT FUNCTION EVEN THOUGH IT WAS FULL OF LIQUID. WE WIGGLED THE ELECTRICAL PLUG AND CHANGED THE FUSE AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS. THE NEXT THING WAS THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE HEATED SEAT DID NOT WORK AND STILL DOES NOT. WE CANNOT FIND THE FUSE FOR THAT ONE. THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT CONTROL ON THE DOOR STOPPED WORKING FOR THE MAIN PART OF THE SEAT BENCH ITSELF. IT WILL NOT MOVE BACK AND FORTH AND WILL NOT TILT OR RISE. I WAS DRIVING UP THE MOUNTAIN HOME ,THE GAS PEDAL GAVE OUT. I SET THE CRUISE CONTROL ON AND DROVE AN HOUR HOME. WHEN I GOT HOME I LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND CAME TO SEE THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE HAD CAME DETACHED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 59,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME. I CALLED MERCEDES-BENZ CUSTOMER CARE NUMBER TO SEE IF THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS ,THEY SAID"NO" BUT THEY COULD ARRANGE A TOW BACK TO LAS VEGAS AT MY EXPENSE AND THEY CAN CHECK IT OUT TO SEE IF THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 MERCEDES BENZ S55. WHILE DRIVING 95 MPH, THE FRONT SUSPENSION SUDDENLY DROPPED AND RETURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO FOUND THAT THE ACTIVE BODY CONTROL HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE IS NOW REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 38,800 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,575.

CONSUMER STATED HE PURCHASED A LEMON. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IT HAS BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP 4-5 TIMES AND EACH TIME AT LEAST A MONTH. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WENT OFF INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP THE AIR BAG LIGHT WENT OFF AND DID NOT COME BACK ON, THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN AND THE AIR CONDITIONER MALFUNCTIONED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEMS. IN FACT, OFFICIALS SAID ANDY TAGGART, 25, WAS KNOCKED OUT WHEN THE DRIVER-SIDE AIRBAG ON A 2002 MERCEDES BENZ INEXPLICABLY DEPLOYED AS THE VETERAN FIREFIGHTER WAS CHECKING THE DASH FOR DAMAGE. A SECOND FIREFIGHTER, RYAN FLANAGAN, 18, WAS SLIGHTLY INJURED WHEN HE WAS STRUCK IN THE HEAD BY A PARTIALLY DEPLOYING AIRBAG AS HE WAS CHECKING THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FRONT DASH, OFFICIALS SAID. BOTH WERE RUSHED TO ST. MARY MEDICAL CENTER IN LANGHORNE WHERE THEY WERE KEPT FOR OBSERVATION AND THEN RELEASED EARLY YESTERDAY. FLANAGAN SAID EDGELY RESPONDED TO THE FIRE SCENE AROUND 9:38 P.M. AFTER LEARNING THAT A 2002 MERCEDES BENZ WAS ON FIRE IN FRONT OF A&Z AUTOMOTIVE ON MANNING BOULEVARD. WHEN FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED, THEY SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH AND BEGAN TO GET THE SITUATION UNDER CONTROL. THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG BLEW WITH SUCH FORCE IT KNOCKED TAGGART UNCONSCIOUS WHILE THE PASSENGER SIDE BAG, WHICH ONLY PARTIALLY DEPLOYED, STRUCK A GLANCING BLOW OFF THE SIDE OF RYAN FLANAGAN'S HEAD. BOTH FIREFIGHTERS WERE WEARING HELMETS, WHICH LIKELY SAVED THEM FROM FURTHER INJURY. AEROSTAR, THE SECURITY COMPANY WHICH ELECTRONICALLY MONITORS LUXURY CARS SUCH AS THE MERCEDES, HAD AUTOMATICALLY CALLED 911 WHEN IT DETECTED A FIRE UNDER THE DASHBOARD. THE AEROSTAR SYSTEM ALSO AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCKED THE CARS DOORS AND CONTACTED THE OWNER, WHO WAS NOT WITH THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THE FIRE INSIDE THE MERCEDES WAS EXTINGUISHED BEFORE IT COULD CAUSE MUCH DAMAGE. *NLM

THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH A SAFETY FEATURE WHICH AUTOMATICALLY REDUCES THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE TO 20-30 MPH WHEN VARIOUS SENSORS DETECT SOME SORT OF MECHANICAL DIFFICULTY. WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH THE SAFETY FEATURE ACTIVATED AND THE VEHICLE SPEED WAS REDUCED. THE DRIVER WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TOT HE DEALER. I WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT A FAULTY ESP CONTROL MODULE SENT A FALSE WARNING TO THE SYSTEM THAT MADE THE VEHICLE REDUCE SPEED. THE CONSUMER FEELS THIS FEATURE WAS DESIGNED POORLY AND THAT IT SHOULD BE DESIGNED SO IT COULD BE MANUALLY OVERRIDDEN (MERCEDES BENZ S430 2002). *MR *SCC *NLM

MY MAJOR CONCERN IS WITH REGARD TO THE FAILURE OF ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL WHILE DRIVING IN THE SNOW DURING THE SNOW STORM ON DEC 5TH. THESE SYSTEMS ARE SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE A LAYER OF SAFETY IN THESE CONDITIONS. WHEN I CONTACTED MERCEDES ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SENSORS MUST HAVE GOTTEN WET AND THEREFORE MADE THE SYSTEM INOPERABLE. THEN DOES THIS MEAN THAT THERE IS AN INHERRENT DESIGN PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HOPE YOU WILL TAKE A LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM, BEFORE ANYONE ELSE HAS TO GO THROUGH A NIGHTMARE DRIVING SITUATION AS I HAD TO. THAT I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT IS A MIRACLE. HOWEVER SOMEONE ELSE MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. DT
