I park at the Mall and after two hours, start the car again to go home the front panel shows "Power Steering Malfunction See owners manual" and the steering has not assistance which makes hard to drive. The steering is hard to maneuver.

The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 20 MPH, the steering wheel stopped operating and the vehicle crashed into a guard rail. The warning message "power steering" failure was displayed after the crash. No air bags were deployed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where it was diagnosed with a failed electric power steering and control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the power steering failure was confirmed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact discovered the NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V241000 (Steering), however, the contact was not notified of the campaign. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

Vehicle stopped and wouldn’t start back up

This has previously been reported, but NHTSA email indicated I needed to file formal complaint. Fuel injector(s) leaked while vehicle parked overnight in driveway. ECU detected fuel and subsequent ignition/spark caused "explosion' blowing out engine intake manifold (appx 50-75 pieces found). All 6 injectors and intake manifold required replacement. Mercedes Benz does have recall notification for failed/leaking fuel injectors, which includes both my model, and model year- but has claimed my VIN is not covered. MB recall campaign # 2022030003, dated 04/22/2022. I have retained engine intake manifold (main piece) for inspection. Fuel injectors were returned to MB. Safety risk is relatively obvious due to "explosion" and potential fire. Independent service agency (German Motors, Lakewood, CO- in business for over 25 years as MB only repair agency) diagnosed and performed repairs. Further, they informed me that in the investigation, they an other independent repair agencies/shops have in fact seen this before. No warnings, lights, or other symptoms were evident prior to injectors leaking.

Vehicle sitting in driveway. Fuel injector leakage and resultant engine control unit detecting fuel set off spark which resulted in explosion under hood. Completely destroyed engine intake manifold (over 100 pieces found), and requires all (6) new fuel injectors. Due to core return value, I will NOT be keeping injectors, but they have been inspected by certified mechanic where repairs are being done. Safety/risk is obvious- fire danger, explosion danger, etc. Vehicle was towed to German Motors, Lakewood CO. for repair. No warning indicators, no lights. Mechanics did inform me that this issue has been seen on other vehicles. Network of MB mechanics have been aware. MB USA is also aware of fuel injector leakage issues, and have issued a Safety & Emissions Recall Campaign (# 2022030003, dated 8/22/2022) for this model year and vehicle model type (GLE). MB USA however asserts that my specific VIN is not included in recall- but offers no reason. Currently, due to MB inability to provide replacement parts (engine intake manifold unavailable until Sept. 2025!), vehicle is still in repair facility. Invoices and write up will be available after repairs completed (using reclaimed intake manifold along with new injectors).

car has caught on fire due to (as diagnosed by certified MB mechanic) leaking from fuel injector(s). Issue is known to many MB mechanics. Issue DOES have a recall for other (non GLE350) models in this same year (2016). Request recall issued! Request assistance with having MB warranty/repair problem

Car was running normally then check engine light illuminated and car shut off. Was able to coast to roadside. Car would not restart. Diagnosed by professional authorized Mercedes repair shop as fuel injector failure. No parts available after the repair for inspection. Because of shut off while being driven in busy traffic, I was at serious risk of a different vehicle hitting my vehicle. Also emergency brake would not disengage since car would not start so could not be pushed further off the road.

There is a known issue With this vehicle with the shifting(hard shifting) there's a glitch when shifting to drive it automatically shifts to neutral then to drive 3 ! the glitch is that its not transmitting correctly to the transmission . if the car does shift to drive 1 it throws itself into neutral while driving that's dangerous !! there are several forums with this issue and I am very surprised there has been no recall this is very upsetting!

Reporting an issue with 2016 GLE 350 4Matic - 78000 Mileage - Intake Air System Leak - Code P007900 Symptoms: High pitched Whistling noise coming from Engine Impact: Unsafe drivability; safely hazard Defective Part Replaced: Crank case Valve Assembly Customer Expectation: Due to the nature, Mercedes, the car manufacturer should offer an Emission Extended Warranty on this part. The repair expense should be reimbursed by Mercedes, the car manufacturer due to the nature of this issue.

When the vehicle is in drive and you open the door it shifts to park. However, if the vehicle is in drive and you turn it off, the vehicle shifts to NEUTRAL. This causes the vehicle to roll with the engine off.

The contact owns a 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE350. The contact stated that while driving 45-50 MPH, the messages "Car Not in Park" and " Transmission Not in Park - Chance of Car Rolling" were displayed, and the vehicle independently shifted into park(P) and stopped. The contact moved the gear shifter to park and restarted the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where an unknown sensor was replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the repair was completed again, however, the failure persisted. The vehicle remained at the dealer. The contact stated that the failure had occurred 16 times within 6 years. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist unless the vehicle was successfully diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.

Vehicle became disabled while owner was driving. Car stopped accelerating and stalled in the roadway. Vehicle was inoperable and had to be towed to the dealership. According to the Mercedes Service technician the rear output shaft bearing went out, tore the splines off of the trans output shaft yolk and 7 bolts then broke off in the case for the intermediate plate. Thus requiring a new transmission.

The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to a nearby gas station. The contact was able to drive to his residence. The contact stated that he had experiencedd the failure six additional times. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The dealer stated they would call him back when they had a loaner vehicle available. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer but was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

CAR LURCHES FORWARD DURING BRAKING CAUSING THE CAR TO SHUTTER AND BUCKLE FORWARD WITHOUT CONTROL.ISSUES OCCURS IN ALL MODES OF DRIVE, INCLUDING ECO, SPORT, SPORT+ AND COMFORT. WHEN APPROACHING A STOP THE CAR JERKS FORWARD WHILE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. RPM'S BOOST UP WITHOUT ANY MOTION ON THE GAS PEDAL AND SUBSEQUENT MOTION ON THE BRAKE. CAR LUNGES FORWARD CAUSING WHIPLASH AND LOSS OF CONTROL AT SPEEDS UNDER 20 MPH. CAR HAS HAD THIS SPECIFIC TRANSMISSION ISSUES SINCE PURCHASE IN 9/2016 AND DEALERSHIP HAS DEALT WITH THIS ISSUE ON THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL WITHOUT AVAIL. CAR HAS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE SINCE 11/2/2017 WITHOUT ANY UPDATE, 30+ DAYS IN STATE OF CALIFORNIA (AUTOMATIC LEMON LAW APPLIES). CAR NEEDS A SOFTWARE FIX THAT HASN'T BEEN ISSUED YET, AND WILL NOT BE ISSUED UNTIL THE EARLIEST MID-JANUARY 2018. WHEN FIRST BROUGHT IN FOR SERVICE (4 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE) DEALER STATED THE CAR WAS "BREAKING IN", I HAD TO TELL THE DEALERSHIP THAT I WOULDN'T PAY THEM FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE IF THEY COULD NOT FIX THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE THEY KEPT THE CAR AND STILL HAVE IT .MERCEDES NORTH AMERICA - SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THE WEST COAST REFERRAL MANAGER HAS BEEN UNCOOPERATIVE IN RESPONDING TO REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION AND DOES NOT RESPOND TO ANY COMMUNICATIONS.

THE "PANORAMIC SUNROOF" (THE SLIDING PORTION) SUDDENLY EXPLODED AFTER MIDNIGHT ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH - SCARING ME INTO SWERVING AND NEARLY WRECKING THE CAR. IF THE SUNSHADE HAD NOT BEEN CLOSED THE GLASS WOULD HAVE BEEN IN OUR EYES AND FACE. PHOTO WAS A GAS STATION 10 MINUTES LATER.

WHEN THE CAR IS LOCKED, THE DOORS STILL OPEN . MERCEDES COVERED THE FIRST FAILED LOCKS IN OCT 2019 UNDER WARRANTY AND I COVERED THE SECOND DOOR MARCH 2020. NOW THERE IS A 3RD FAILED LOCK. I CALLED MERCEDES TO COVER BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED. ALL THE MERCEDES MECHANICS ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE . THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ON THE MERCEDES RECALL . EXAMPLE, LEAVING A DARK PARKING LOT, I ENTER MY VEHICLE AND LOCK THE DOOR BUT YOUR DOORS ARE REALLY NEVER LOCKED , ANYONE CAN OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE DUE TO THE FAILED LOCKING SYSTEM. THE REASON THIS MAY NOT BE REPORTED OFTEN IS BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE DO NOT TRY TO OPEN THEIR DOOR WITHOUT THEIR KEYS NEARBY.

PANORAMIC SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY "EXPLODED" WHILE DRIVING 60MPH ON THE FREEWAY. IT WAS A CLEAR, SUNNY MORNING WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE LOW 70'S. I WAS NOT NEAR AN UNDERPASS, NOR BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT SOUNDED AS IF A CANNON WENT OFF INSIDE THE VEHICLE, FORTUNATELY THE SUN SCREEN WAS CLOSED OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN SHOWERED IN GLASS. MORE FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. THIS SUDDEN EXPLOSION COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED ME TO VEER OFF THE ROAD OR INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE GLASS APPEARED TO EXPLODE "UPWARD". THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MB DEALERSHIP, WHERE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATES IT IS NOT CONSIDERED A WARRANTY ITEM. MY CONTACT WITH MB USA WAS EQUALLY DISAPPOINTING IN THEIR REFUSAL TO HAVE A FIELD REPRESENTATIVE LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. BASED ON THE MULTIPLE REPORTS/INCIDENTS ON NHTSA AND CONSUMER REPORTS, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT MERCEDES-BENZ IS NOT AWARE OF THIS DANGEROUS STRUCTURAL AND/OR PARTS DEFECT.

WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM. ON A DESERTED ROAD SUCH AS THE ROAD THROUGH DENALI NATIONAL PARK VISIBILITY IS APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 50 FT. AT NIGHT. ALSO BECAUSE OF THE NATURE I IF THE BEAM SEEING MORE THAN 15FT. IN FOG OR SNOW IS EXTREMELY IMPEDED. THE BEAM CREATES A HALO STARTING AT 15FT. FROM VEHICLE THAT REFLECTS IN THE FOG AND CREATES AN OPTICAL ILLUSION.

ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT HEAD LAMPS ARE VERY DIM FOR NIGHT TIME DRIVING. SO MUCH SO, YOU NEED TO USE HIGH BEEMS MORE FREQUENTLY TO SEE. MERCEDES DOES NOT OFFER A SOLUTION EVEN AT ADDITIONAL COST TO OWNERS FOR AN UPGRADE IN LIGHTING THAT IS BRIGHTER OR TO ADD ADDITIONAL FOG LAMPS. MB REQUIRES THAT YOU ORDER THE VEHICLE WITH UPGRADED LIGHTING PACKAGE FROM FACTORY. IF YOU PURCHASE AFTER MARKET PRODUCTS THEN MB WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. APPARENTLY ITS A KNOWN ISSUE ON ALL MODELS WITHOUT OPTIONAL LIGHTING PACKAGE, THOUSANDS OF POSTS ONLINE VALIDATE THE CONCERN. MB SAID THEY WILL NOT OFFER NEW PRODUCT OR RECALL UNTIL COMPLAINTS ARE MADE THROUGH NHTSA.

I tried to open the sunroof and it appeared that something was broken or out of alignment and it wouldn't open. I brought it to the dealership. I was told the track had broken off. They replaced it but also found out the reason it was getting off track was because of the panoramic shade that seems to get out of alignment when being manipulated. Overall, the fix to this problem was almost $4000.00 . I asked if there was any recall regarding this and they said no. I questioned why a part of the car that is rarely used has broken so easily and caused so much damage. My car has only 38K miles for a 2016 model. On my own research, I did find that Mercedes has recalled several thousands of cars with similar sunroof problems but my model car was not included. I wanted to reach out and report in case there are other similar reports that other people have come forward with. Thank you very much for your time.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT WHEEL WELL LINER PIN/SCREW ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES WERE LOOSE, WHICH CAUSED THE WHEEL LINER TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE TIRES WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. MERCEDES-BENZ OF BUCKHEAD (2799 PIEDMONT RD NE, ATLANTA, GA) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,001.

MY SUNROOF EXPLODED SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THERE WAS NO SIGNS OF DAMAGE TO THE GLASS. THE GLASS FLEW BACK ON ROAD AND THE GLASS REMAINING ON TOO APPEARED BOWED.

I own a 2016 Mercedes GLE350 that was repaired under a safety recall involving failure of a fuel pump due to water intrusion into the spare wheel well. Mercedes Benz "fixed" the car under the safety recall however, several months later, my vehicle experienced the same exact issue - water intrusion entered the rear wheel well causing the fuel system to fail. Mercedes Benz currently has my vehicle and cannot locate the water leak (they are saying it is in the hatch area of my car). They are currently trying to charge me $890 to find the leak. However, the original safety recall on this vehicle states, "the cause of the defect may vary due to a development deviation in combination with production tolerances and possible customer influences when loading and unloading items from the rear hatch. Each cause could lead to a different issue and water intrusion. Therefore, the tightness in the rear area might not meet specifications." I understand that my vehicle is not the first to experience this issue and I believe this is a defect with this make/model/year. I am hopeful this will be looked into further as I believe this issue goes past the recall. I should not be required to pay for this and my safety should not be compromised due to this.

I PURCHASED MY 2016 MERCEDES BENZ GLE 350 LATE SEPTEMBER 2019. SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH WATER GETTING IN THROUGH THE LIFT GATE. ON SATURDAY JAN 4 THIS WATER ENTRY THROUGH TRUNK CAUSED MY MERCEDES BENZ TO STALL WHILE DRIVING. FORTUNATELY I WAS ON A SAFE ROADWAY WITH AMPLE SPACE BETWEEN OTHER DRIVES AND AN ACCIDENT DID NOT OCCUR. AFTER TOWING IT HOME I HAD THE CAR DIAGNOSED BY MY LOCAL MERCEDES BENZ SPECIALIST. THE COMPUTER HAD THE FOLLOWING STORED DIAGNOSTIC CODES. P053F94 STORED THE FUEL PRESSURE DURING A COLD START IS IMPLAUSIBLE. THERE EXISTS AN UNEXPECTED INSTRUCTION. P062800 CURRENT THE OUTPUT FOR THE FUEL PUMP HAS A SHORT CIRCUIT TO THE GROUND. U010987 CURRENT AND STORED COMMUNICATION WITH THE FUEL PUMP MODULE IS FAULTY. THE MESSAGE IS LOST. When driving, the vehicle suddenly slows down and then the brakes stop working. Vehicle then slows down to a complete stop. Happens randomly. This put me and other drivers at risk as cars behind me would suddenly have to slow down or stop without warning and I would have to steer out of the road to avoid a collision as the car is slowing down. At the same time, a message would appear saying "Collision Prevention Assist Plus Inoperative." I took the vehicle to a mercedes-benz dealer and they confirmed that this problem is due to a fault in the ABS system.

On September 26th, 2021 I was reversing out a parking space, the rear camera was engaged and the R indication in place. While halfway out of the parking space the vehicle accelerated hitting another vehicle. The brakes would not engage to slow or stop the vehicle, I had to slip the gear into park to have the vehicle come to a completed stop. the accident was report to the insurance company and information was exchanged due to the location. Six months prior, while my daughter was reversing off the drive, similar behavior occurred, where she did not feel comfortable driving the car and parked it onto the driveway. I do not know if there's a recall or any other additional reports. please advise of the next steps in filing a complaint or opening a case.

Luckily, it was a Hummer with a tire mounted on the rear door and damage occurred only to my MB. Front end has severe damage, hood buckled and headlight broken! It was a spooky experience! Mercedes Benz 2016 GLE450 AMG Coupe Backup Camera issue. The software problems cause backup camera to go blank /black screen. It does this randomly, it can worked for few weeks to a month, then suddenly just goes blank/black when the gear is in reverse (R). I have made complained to Mercedes Benz dealer when the issue first started and I was told that the year of my vehicle is not listed in the recall that was issued for the Mercedes Benz with backup camera issues, the recall was listed for 2019-2021. I was told that I have to wait until there is a recall for the 2016 GLE450 AMG Coupe.

In May 2023 I took my 2016 GLE 450 AMG into "Park Place Motor Cars Mercedes" (Dallas) for the (MBUSA 2023010002 and 2023010003) "Water that could Leak into the Spare Tire area, Impacting the Fuel Pump" recall. Park Place stated that they didn't locate any signs of water in the trunk area and would place a water drain plug in the spare tire area to drain water, incase water entered the area. In January 26, 2024, while driving, my GLE 450 loss propulsion without warning causing me to almost get rear ended. Unbeknownst to me, that this was related to the recall from 2023, I had the vehicle towed to a local "certified repair shop". The shop stated that i would need to replace the fuel pump units. Approximately 2 months later while my daughter was driving the GLE 450, the vehicle loss propulsion without warning once again causing my daughter to be stranded at a "Stop sign" 30 miles from home at approximately 1245 am. I had the vehicle towed to "Park Place Motorcars". Service advisor informed me that the Fuel pump unit had failed due to water entering into the trunk and they would have to determine where the water was coming from. I then asked to speak to manager and I remembered that a recall describing this situation had been conducted less than a year prior to this incident (2x). After approximately 1 month the service advisor messaged me and stated that the repair(s) wouldn't be covered under the recall warranty due to the fact that debris was found underneath the vehicle, causing the drain plug to be blocked. I am terrified to allow my family to continue driving this vehicle with the current remedy that Mercedes has chosen to use (drain plug), that did NOT fix the problem specified in the defective issue within the recall paperwork. The REMEDY should be to determine how the water is entering into the vehicle. The water has caused 2 fuel pump incidents within 1 year leading to the loss of propulsion without warning and increasing the risk of a serious crash.

Mercedes isn’t issuing a recall or remedy for this. Also there’s an issue with the passenger airbag weight sensors going bad which is throwing the airbag light off (which this is also happening in my car) the service center I talked to knew about this is agreed it a issue they see time and time again with these cars. Mercedes needs to make this right.

We were driving in the street and just suddenly the front of the car was on fire. We stopped the car and we had almost no time to get out because the flames got very big in just minutes. Good thing the doors weren't locked because we safely got out of the car. This incident happened in rush hour and there were lots of cars around us. This put not just the passengers in our car but other people around us in danger. We contacted Mercedes-Benz but they declined out claim and refused to investigate into this issue. Please help us hold Mercedes-Benz accountable.

Electrical - Drivers lock does not lock/unlock with remote, with door lock. Have to physically lock/unlock drivers door. if you do not you will not get in door and you will not open from inside. If you do not lock manually your door will be open even though the other doors locked. Power Train - transmission is clucking between gear especially at slow speeds, Transmission in L1-5 sometimes does not shift up or down. sometimes does not go into drive from manually shifting from L gears. some downhills the tranny does not slow vehicle on down hills. Engine - valves and lifters are noisy at startup. Sounds like 1 or two cylinders. Suspension - Rear stock suspension bottoms easily also excessive motion up and down.

My 2016 Mercedes GLE 450 AMG was running perfectly but stalled while I was making a left turn onto a major roadway and I was inches from a catastrophic accident. My car was towed to Mercedes Benz dealership and the technician informed me that the trunk seal was not sealing properly causing water to get in through the trunk and shorted out a fuel pump module. My trunk was not wet and only indication of water was when the rear compartment was lifted near the spare tire area so I was not aware of a possible leak. My car is mostly garage kept unless I am at work where it’s exposed to weather. It had been raining for several days in our area. After doing online research, it appears to be an existing problem for Mercedes owners. I’m concerned because I could have lost my life due to this issue and someone may not be so fortunate if the problem goes unresolved.

Sometime when I press on the gas. It does a hard shift gear change. Feel like I got kicked by a horse in the rear. I have changed out front and rear differential gear oil and I changed out the transmission fluid and filter. It still does it. I'm thinking it's something in the ECM or TCM firmware since the dealer refuse to update the firmware for me. I'm leaning towards a firmware issue since I'm outdated (never been updated).

SINCE THE TIME I PURCHASED THIS CAR, THE BRAKES HAVE REPEATEDLY MADE LOUD SQUEALING NOISES. MERCEDES HAS REPEATEDLY EXAMINED THE CAR AND TOLD US IT IS FINE AND NOT DANGEROUS. THEY HAVE NEVER FIXED THE NOISE. HOWEVER, MORE RECENTLY IN DECEMBER 2019, THE CAR DEVELOPED A STRONG FUEL ORDER IN BOTH THE CABIN AND OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. WE BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CLAMP AND THE FUEL LINE. HE CALLED THE LOCAL MERCEDES DEALER WHO TOLD HIM TO ADJUST THE CLAMP. THAT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG, AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. FROM ONLINE SEARCHES, I HAVE FOUND OTHER PEOPLE SEEM TO BE EXPERIENCING THE SAME TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH MERCEDES CARS.

I AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH MY ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM, THAT OTHER MB MODELS OF THE SAME YEAR AND CLASS ARE EXPERIENCING. SOME OF THE 2016 GLE'S HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE, BUT MY VEHICLE/VIN HAS NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. I RECEIVE THIS ERROR MESSAGE WHEN TURNING A CURVE. MY VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY AND MB WILL NOT PAY FOR THIS WITH MY CPO WARRANTY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS QUOTED ME $6984.00 TO FIX THE ISSUE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER BECAUSE I THINK THAT MY VEHICLE/VIN SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED WITH THE CURRENT RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 18V27200. MY ACTIVE CURVE SYSTEM HAS BEEN LEAKING OIL. I AM CONCERNED AS THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND SAFETY ISSUE. I CAN SMELL THE OIL BURNING AS WELL AS SEE IT FOAMING FROM THE FLUID CANISTER.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 MERCEDES-BENZ GLE63W4S. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE FAILURES AFTER BEING PURCHASED IN APRIL OF 2016. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE COOLANT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. BIG ISLAND HONDA KONA (75-5608 KUAKINI HIGHWAY, KAILUA-KONA, HAWAII 96740, (808) 329-8101) REPAIRED THE ENGINE COOLANT SENSOR, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE SENSOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. FURTHERMORE, THE "CHECK BATTERY FOR KEY" MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE KEY FOBS WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES BY THE SAME DEALER. UPON TURNING THE IGNITION, THE TURN SIGNAL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL CAP WAS DEFECTIVE AND THEY REPLACED THE FUEL CAP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FORMAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTING PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE BY THE DEALER. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V272000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WOULD NOT BECOME AVAILABLE ON THE ISLAND OF HAWAII FOR FOUR MONTHS. OUR 2016 MERCEDES GLE350 4MATIC SUV FIRST HAD PROBLEM ON OCT 11. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHEN MY WIFE WAS TURNING IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. SHE WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION FOR ABOUT 3 MINS AND WAS ABLE TO START AND DRIVE TO A RESTAURANT WHERE IT CUT OFF AND WOULD NOT START ANYMORE. WE HAD IT TOWED TO RBM OF ALPHARETTA. THEY STATED THAT THE FUEL CONTROL SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THEM. MY WIFE AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE OCTOBER 19TH BECAUSE WE WERE TRAVELING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED IN OUR GARAGED SINCE UNTIL OCTOBER 26 WHERE MY WIFE ENCOUNTERED THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN WHEN PICKING UP OUR SON AT THE LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE VEHICLE CUT OFF WHILE TURNING OUT OF THE SCHOOL PARKING LOT AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFE HAZARD. WHAT IF A SEMI-TRUCK WAS CROSSING THE INTERSECTION, THEY WOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO STOP IN TIME? I HAVE READ MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS SAME VEHICLE ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. AGAIN WE HAD IT TOWED TO RBM OF ALPHARETTA AND NOW THEY ARE STATING THAT WATER HAD ENTERED THE AREA WHERE THE FUEL CONTROL SENSOR IS LOCATED. MERCEDES TECHNICIANS ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN IN THAT AREA OF THE VEHICLE AND WE HAVE NEVER HAVE WATER LEAKAGE IN ANY AREA OF THIS VEHICLE AND THEY WERE THE LAST TO WASH THE VEHICLE. IF THIS WAS THE CASE, WHY WASN'T THIS BROUGHT UP WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED. JUST BY USING DEDUCTIVE REASONING, NONE OF THIS MAKE ANY SENSE. MERCEDES IS A PREMIUM BRAND. SOMETHING SIMPLE AS WEATHER STRIPPING LAST LONGER THAN 2 YEARS. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED. A BRAND LIKE MERCEDES NEED TO BE HONEST AND HAVE INTEGRITY TO KEEP TRUST AND LOYALTY WITH THEIR CUSTOMERS.

THE REAR COLLISION ALERT SYSTEM HAS A DESIGN FLAW. THE SOUND ADJUSTED BY TECHNICIAN TO 100% IS BARELY AUDIBLE BY THE DRIVER, AND TYPICALLY AT OR AFTER IMPACT. IT IS ALSO NOT LINKED TO THE CAR DASH SOUND SYSTEM, SO THE RADIIO DOES NOT SHUT OFF ITS VOLUME. IN THIS INSTANCE, THE AUDIBLE ALARM IS INAUDIBLE. I HAVE HAD TWO ACCIDENTS WITH THE VEHICLE WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. THE DEALER DOES NOT ARGUE WITH MY ASSESSMENT, BUT SAYS THE SYSTEM IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. ATTACHED IS MY MERCEDES SERVICE RECORD DATED 10-23-2018 EXPECTING THE PROBLEM TO BE CORRECTED BY DEALER PROGRAMABLE TECHNOLOGY. I ADVISED THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT HE MIGHT WANT TO DISCUSS THIS WITH MERCEDES BEFORE I FILED THIS REPORT. HE DECLINED. THIS IS NOT A SAFE CONDITION AND COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DAMAGE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MERCEDES-BENZ OF EL DORADO HILLS (1000 MERCEDES LN, EL DORADO HILLS, CA (888) 773-3154) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON WITH MERCEDES-BENZ VEHICLES; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

THIS GLE 550$ 2016 LESS THAN 18 MONTHS WITH 5800 MILES. ELECTRICAL CHARGE OUTLET DOOR IS POSING SAFETY PROBLEMS. IT IS LOCATED HORIZONTALLY IN THE REAR BUMPER. THE SOLENOID VALVE EITHER UNLOCKS ITSELF DURING DRIVE, OR CANNOT BE CLOSED. DURING RUNNING THE DOOR OF THE OUTLET IS OPEN. THE CARS BEHIND ME HONK AND ATTEMPT TO OVERTAKE ME AND SLOW DOWN IN THE NEXT LANE TO WARN ME THAT MY GASOLINE DOOR IS OPEN (THEY DO NOT KNOW IT IS ELECTRICAL). I GET WORRIED ABOUT THEIR SAFETY AND MINE IN THE HGHWAY . WATER AND SNOW SEEPS INTO THE SOLENOID VALVE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CLOSE THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET COVER OF THE CHARGING OUTLET. IT HAS GONE TO THE WORKSHOP THREE TIMES. THEY PRETTY MUCH GAVE UP AND REFERRED TO MERCEDES. TWO WINTERS, THE VALVE IS FROZEN AND NON FUNCTIONAL. NON CLOSURE OF THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET MAKES GASOLINE OUTLET DOOR INOPERABLE. OCCASIONALLY, A DUCT TAPE HAS TO BE USED TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED AND GASOLINE FILLED. INITIALLY, THE DEALER NOT KNOWING, I SUPPOSE, SUGGESTED I USE WD 40 SPRAY INTO THE ELECTRICAL OUTLET DOOR. I WAS RELUCTANT TO FOLLOW THIS MODE DUE TO FEAR OF ELECTRICAL SHORT CIRCUIT. LATER THE SOLENOID VALVE REPLACED WITH NO PERMANENT SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS, THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THE B CLASS ALSO AS PER THE LINK BELOW. DEFECTIVE JACK - THE CAR WAS STATIONARY ON THE SHOULDER OF AN INTERSTATE IN ORDER TO FIX A FLAT TIRE. THE JACK PRONG WAS INSERTED AS DESIGNED INTO THE HOLE UNDER THE CAR AND THE CAR WAS RAISED TO REMOVE THE TIRE. UPON RAISING, THE PRONG DEFORMED AND RESULTED IN THE COLLAPSE OF THE CAR. THE RESULTING DEFORMITY RENDERED THE JACK INOPERATIVE AND ALMOST RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURY. THE CONSUMER STATED MERCEDES ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS NOT APPROPRIATELY RESPONSIVE WHILE THE STRANDED ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. *JS

THE LEFT SIDE EXTERIOR MIRRORS DO NOT PIVOT OUT FAR ENOUGH TO ALLOW THE DRIVER TO SEE THE BLIND SPOT BESIDE THE REAR SECTION OF THE VEHICLE IF THE DRIVER HAS HIS SEAT MOVED IN THE REAR-MOST POSITIONS. THIS HAS CAUSE SEVERAL NEAR-HIT SITUATIONS WITH ME WHEN MERGING INTO TRAFFIC. EVEN THOUGH A VEHICLE WAS PRESENT IN THE BLIND SPOT NOTHING WAS VISIBLE IN ANY OF THE MIRRORS NOR WAS THERE ANY INDICATION FROM THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR. THE MIRROR NEEDS TO PIVOT ABOUT 10 DEGREES FARTHER TO ALLOW THE DRIVER VISIBILITY OF THE BLIND SPOT OR THE MIRROR NEEDS TO BE CONVEX TO INCREASE THE FIELD OF VIEW OF THE MIRROR.
