NOTICE RECEIVED MARCH 2019 REGARDING TAKATA AIRBAG (PASSENGER) RECALL. CONTACTED MERCEDES-BENZ FOR REPLACEMENT INFORMATION. WAS TOLD THAT REPLACEMENTS WERE ON ORDER BUT NOT RECEIVED. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER SEVERAL TIMES DURING 2019, SAME INFORMATION PROVIDED. SUBMITTED COMPLAINT TO NHTSA 21 JANUARY 2020 WHICH PROVOKED A CONTACT FROM MANUFACTURER STATING THAT REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN OCTOBER 2020. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER TODAY, 7 OCTOBER 2020 FOR UPDATE: NO INFORMATION, STILL WAITING ON REPLACEMENTS. My truck has been smelling like gas for a while. I replaced the gas cap and still smelled gas when I was driving. Recently I started smelling it inside the car. It was leaking from two places under the car when I would drive it or just have it running. The mechanic took the plastic piece off the bottom and gas started pouring down. He took the back seats out and there was a pool of gas sitting on the fuel pump. He had me start the car and it immediately started spewing from the fuel pump inside the car. I did not know I could report a complaint so I did not take pictures. The car has been sitting since Saturday without being turned on and the gas spot on the ground remains wet. It’s very dangerous and right now I cannot fix it due to finances.

Gasoline smell around the car when parked in the garage. An inspection underneath the car and in the engine, bay failed to locate the leak. A [XXX] search for fuel leak on Mercedes Benz (MB) returned a number of hits for problems with leaks around fuel tank components on the GLK and other MB models. Upon removal of the rear seat and a check under the two fuel tank covers, I found gasoline pooled on a concave area on top of the Fuel Suction Pump Assembly, MB, part 2184700994 (see attached photos). This plastic part has cracks in it that allow fuel to escape. I contacted MB U.S. headquarters support as I thought that they may have been a campaign to replace this component since the 2012 GLK had a recall for fuel flange cracks but the MB customer support team indicated that a campaign did not exist for this issue on the 2015 MB GLK. Since the car is out of warranty, I purchased a replacement part 2184700994 and installed it which fixed the problem. 2020050005-Modificationto emission control system cause:F Was informed of the Mercedes-Benz Recall for 2015 250 GLK BlueTec which I took to Dothan, AL Mercedes-Benz Dealership to have done for my safety. The car was not repaired correctly. It started to smoke a gray smoke coming up from under the car on the passenger side of the car over the front tire. I do have pictures. It smells as if it is about to catch on fire. The car never had any problems before this botched repair. Now they say they cannot find the problem. I’m afraid to drive it until they do. Each time they return it, the smoke is worse.

SMALL QUANTITY OF SPILLED LIQUID CAUSES SHUTDOWN OF ENGINE AND FUEL ECM. OVER $2200 TO REPAIR (REPLACING FUEL PUMP! AND ECM!), BUT THE REAL ISSUE IS THE IMMEDIATE DISABLING OF THE VEHICLE IN TRAFFIC CAN EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THIS COULD BE PREVENTED BY A LITTLE COVER OR EPOXY OR CAULK. THIS MODULE WAS KILLED BY A SPILL IN THE CARGO AREA WHICH CAN BE CAUSED BY A KID SPILLING A DRINK IN THE BACK SEAT ALSO. Key in electronic ignition switch is not recognized, automatic transmission shifts to automatic park before vehicle comes to a stop. When car slows to 5 miles per hour it abruptly slams into park, putting myself in danger of being rear ended in no fault of my own. It happened multiple times before I could get my vehicle to safety. This has been a known issue as documented on website [XXX] in a memo from Mercedes Benz dated 12/22/13 service memo [XXX]. This is two years prior to my model automobile and should have been rectified. This should have been addressed as a recall item as it is a known safety risk. The driver's side seat failed. Due to a seat electrical harness failure the seat became stuck and neither the seat seatback or headrest could be moved. I could comfortably still reach steering wheel and pedals but my wife could not safely do so. The car has approximately 36k miles on it. I paid to repair this $831 negotiated down from $1600+. This is a pressing NHTSA issue because on the repair invoice the technician noted that a 40 amp fuse had been installed in a 30 amp socket. Presumably it came from the factory in this condition. The car has only been serviced by MBZ dealers - 2, palm springs and sandiego- and to my knowledge no one has touched the fuses or box. The electrical system from the factory is running 40 amps on a circuit designed for 30. This is a manufacturing or design defect which will likely as here, cause failure and could possibly at least to my non electrical engineer's mind cause fire.

WE WERE DRIVING ON NORMAL FREEWAY SPEED ALONG INTERSTATE 5 SOUTH APPROACHING FORT TEJON TOWARDS LOS ANGELES WHEN SUDDENLY THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED THE MESSAGE " INOPERATIVE. CHECK OPERATOR'S MANUAL". WITH THIS MESSAGE, THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND ULTIMATELY SHUT OFF ITS POWER ON US. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE ABLE TO SAFELY GLIDE AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO THE ROADSIDE. WITH THE SPEEDING TRAILER TRUCKS AND CARS ON ALL THREE LANES THAT WE HAD TO PASS THROUGH BEFORE SAFELY PARKING THE CAR, IT COULD HAVE COST US OUR LIVES. The DEF exhaust system has failed. It was replaced before under a recall. The warranty was previously extended on the system but I am outside of the mileage window but inside of the time window. I have $6000 in repairs so far and am trying to get assistance. I have been dealing with issues since October 2024

DRIVING BACK FROM VACATION LAST SATURDAY, ON THE PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE, OUR MOTOR SHUT ITSELF OFF. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING, USING CRUISE CONTROL, GOING STRAIGHT, WITH THE "ECON" BUTTON TURNED OFF. LUCKILY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AND WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE FREEWAY WITHOUT MISHAP. MY HUSBAND TURNED THE KEY OFF, WAITED ABOUT A MINUTE, THEN STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON, BUT OUR MOTOR STAYED ON, AND WE DROVE HOME WITHOUT ANY MORE PROBLEMS. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH OUR M.B. DEALER TO HAVE THE CAR SERVICED ON THIS COMING FRIDAY, OCT. 2ND., EXPLAINING WHAT HAD OCCURRED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT SOMETIME ON MONDAY, SEPT. 28TH. AND HASN'T COME ON AGAIN, BUT IF THE ENGINE DIES AGAIN AT A MORE INOPPORTUNE TIME IT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS, POSSIBLY FATAL, CONSEQUENCES. I AM VERY CONCERNED. My 2015GLK 350 shifts into an Automatic P (Parking) while driving under 6 miles per hour. When shutting the car off and immediately starting, the transmission automatically performs another Automatic P (and puts the car into Park) when driving under 6 miles an hour. This puts myself and other drivers at risk. The failure first appeared 60 days after purchase of this vehicle (first happened in August 2021). I took the car in to the independent repair shop in Long Island, NY in Nov 2021. I've had the car looked at and by an independent repair shop and they could not immediately identify the issue. No warnings lights or sounds went off before the automatic p (park) happened. The independent dealer did some research and referred me to an alert from 3/2015 *Topic number LI54.25-P-056472 Version 3 *Key in Electronic Ignition switch (EZS) is not recognized, automatic transmission shifts to Park before vehicle comes to a stop! Cause - An assembly issue I am wiling to get the car repaired, just wanted help with Good Will Assistance from Mercedes Benz, because he cause of this issue is assembly related and my VIN falls under the alert/assembly issue.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT ~65MPH IN HER NEW 2015 GLK350 W/ PANORAMIC & 4MATIC & ~7000 MILES. IT WAS 7:00PM IN VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC. NO ONE WAS NEAR HER AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. SHE HEARD A VERY LOUD STARLING BANG. AT FIRST SHE THOUGHT A TIRE HAD BLOWN. SHE THEN HEARD FAINT CRACKLING NOISE ABOVE HER HEAD. THE SUN SHADE WAS CLOSED SO NO GLASS DROPPED INTO THE CABIN AREA. WITHIN MINUTES SHE NOTICED THAT THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED. NOTEWORTHY POINT, THE SUNROOF GLASS WAS BROKEN CONVEX. SO, IT WAS SLIGHTLY POUCHED UPWARD, WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS UNUSUAL. I TAPED THE SUNROOF AND BROUGHT IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER THE NEXT DAY. THE DEALER SAID SHE HIT SOMETHING AND THAT'S WHAT CAUSED THE ISSUE. I MENTIONED THAT THEIR WAS NO ONE ELSE AROUND AND THEIR WERE LOTS OF INTERNET REPORTS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. HE SAID YOU CAN FIND ANYTHING ON THE INTERNET. MY COST TO REPLACE SUNROOF WAS $2500 USING MY INSURANCE, OR $1500 WITH A DISCOUNT IF I WAS PAYING FOR IT MYSELF. I'M NOT SURE WHY THERE WAS 2 DIFFERENT PRICES. AFTER RESEARCHING THE SAFERCAR.GOV SITE, I FOUND APPROX. 9 CASES OF LATE MODEL MERCEDES WITH A VERY SIMILAR ISSUES. THERE'S ALSO NUMEROUS ARTICLES AND NEWS STORIES INCLUDING OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS ON THE NET WITH THE SAME SUNROOF ISSUES. THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE HERE.

The contact stated that while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and the vehicle inadvertently shifted into park(P). The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where a technician test-drove the vehicle and experienced the failure; however, the technician was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK350. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the gear shifter was in reverse position however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact then shifted into drive but the vehicle failed to respond. There were no warning lights illuminated. The tow truck driver was contacted and shifted the vehicle into neutral and the vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that no issues were found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,900.

My car goes abruptly into park while driving or reversing at 5 mph or less. This is a big safety concern if it ever suddenly stalls in a highway, I may get into a life threatening accident. There are no warning or sensor lights that light up when this happens. I have taken it to the Mercedes Benz dealer who said it was a shift module error which I paid to fix and not even two weeks later the same problem persisted.

The leather seat on the drivers side has melted. After trying to research for a recall, I did see that others have had this problem also. It appears that the seat heater causes the leather to melt. The leather has melted and peeled and is flaking.

There are two issues with my vehicle, both started recently. The mileage is only around 33000 miles. The two front tire pressure warnings keep coming on, and I have tried multiple times to correct this, doesn't matter if it exactly correct on reading for pump, or above or below, it just keeps saying they need adjusting. It is only the two front ones and they have been doing this for about 2 weeks now. Second issue has been a recall for other mercedes models but not mine, and it could be that there are much fewer of these on the road and had less complaints. It is exactly same issue that other models that have been recalled. My reversing camera has started to either not work at all, or come on and go off, then reset and come back on again, however this is making it impossible to rely on in a reversing situation. It is basically dangerous as I can be halfway into a manoever and it stops working.

The lien keeping assistant is stuck in operative mode. So I had a recall on my airbag and got it changed out yesterday and had the dealership check why it was on they told me I need a new steering wheel. Prior to yesterday two months ago. All the lights came on warning light and I lost power to the engine and then it will kick back on. I’m concerned because they put the airbag in the steering wheel and did a diagnostic and told me I need a new steering wheel the steering wheel pretty much run the whole car I have no horn or nothing by saying that I am afraid the airbag won’t deploy if the car loses control due to the steering wheel and electronics Yes, the vehicle has been to the dealership on diagnostic machine made aware of it and then sent me home in it on safely Yes, about three months ago. All warning lights come on and I lose power to the engine. It said something else was in operable. I got Time. Yesterday, pulling up to the dealership to get the recall airbag installed the lane keeping assistance was on. It came on parlay for weeks ago, and I haven’t been able to use the steering wheel cents. And yes, some of the other one and light pop on and off.

The contact received a recall notification for NHTSA Campaign Number: 2020100005 (replace Takata passenger-side module Air Bags) however, the dealer informed the contact that the part for the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair? The manufacturer was notified of the issue but did not provide any assistance. The vehicle was in an act of nature accident with a deer. The severe frontal impact damage didn't deploy the airbags. this is a major safety concern with the sensor electrical system, and the already RECALL airbags. The customer is receiving no resolve according to the NHTSA department approve lawsuit settlement claim filed.

When driving, the steering wheel locks and I can no longer steer the vehicle, it locks in a way that I cannot move the steering wheel at all, which may cause me to crash if I am at a dead end road and need to turn. I have been trying to contact the manufacturer for resolution but have not received any responses. This was a recall back in 2017 under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V-595 for 2015-2017 Mercedes Benz cars, with the component of Steering/Electric Power Assist System. I am not sure why my car is not listed in the recall since it does have this issue.

FAULTY PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY. WHEN PULLING THE PARKING BRAKE RELEASE THE FOOT PEDAL DOES NOT DISENGAGE. DRIVER MUST PULL THE PARKING BRAKE RELEASE AND USE THEIR FOOT TO MANUALLY PRY THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL BACK INTO THE 'RELEASED' POSITION. VEHICLE HAS HAD ISSUE SINCE 39,000 MILES.

WHILE DRIVING ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR MY MERCEDES GLK SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 30MPH. THE CAR WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. A .MESSAGE THAT SAID 'INOPERATIVE SEE OWNERS MANUAL' APPEARED. WE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND IT STARTED UP WITHOUT PROBLEM. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER, AS THERE IS REPAIR WORK BEING DONE AND PART OF THE HIGHWAY DIDN'T HAVE A SHOULDER. WE WERE LUCKY THAT WE WERE NOT HIT. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.

ON JUNE 16,2017, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON FREEWAY, I TRIED TO SLOWED DOWN BUT IT TURNED OUT TO ACCELERATE SUDDENLY AT AROUND 85MPH, THE STEERING SYSTEM WAS MESSED UP AND I LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR , THE MORE I TRY TO BRAKE THE FASTER THE CAR CRASHED , SO IT CRASHED TO THE RIGHT SIDE AND ROLLED OVER DOWN TO THE DITCH , I CALLED 911 AND UNFORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO SIGNAL, I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR NOR WINDOW. THE SMOKE CAME OUT FROM INSIDE AND THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE , I COULD HAVE BEEN BURNT TO DEATH ALIVE WITHOUT PEOPLE PASSING BY , THEY USED A BIG ROCK TO BREAK THE WINDOW AND PULLED ME OUT OF THE CAR, TWO MINUTES LATER , THE CAR EXPLODED AND BURNT TO GROUND. THIS IS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE , PEOPLE LIKE ME SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON PURCHASING SUCH AN EXPENSIVE CAR WITH EXPECTATION TO BE SAFER IN DRIVING , BUT WHEN IT COMES TO CAR ACCIDENT , THERE ARE STILL SO MANY FLAWS WHICH COULD HAVE LED TO WRONGFUL DEATH , THIS MAKES ME FEEL FRUSTRATED AND I CALLED MB LONG BEACH AND BEVERLY HILLS , THEY JUST SHOWED INDIFFERENT AND IT'S NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS . I'M NOW VERY DISAPPOINTED AND I HOPE THERE WON'T BE ANY VICTIMS LIKE THIS . I WAS THE EXCEPTION AND I HOPE PEOPLE DRIVING MB GLK350 COULD BE LUCKY ENOUGH . MB OWES ME AN EXPLANATION AND INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE CARRIED OUT , MAYBE A RECALL IF NECESSARY FOR THE SAFETY OF CONSUMERS .

FOR LAST 2 MONTHS AND CONTINUING ON, THE 'ESP INOPERATIVE' MESSAGE POPS UP FREQUENTLY, EVEN WHEN THE WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS ARE WARM, DRY AND CLEAR. WHEN IT OCCURS, THE CAR SEEMS TO LOOSE ACCELERATION (POWER) AND SLOWS DOWN (RATHER VERY QUICKLY ON ROADWAY SLOPING UP). PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL WOULD NOT SPEED UP THE CAR IMMEDIATELY; IT WOULD AFTER A WHILE. WHEN THIS OCCURS, I PULL OVER THE CAR AND TURN IT OFF & ON TO GET RID OF THE 'ESP INOPERATIVE' MESSAGE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON HIGH SPEED EXPRESSWAY AS WELL. IT FELT VERY DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE SINCE A TRUCK WAS APPROACHING CLOSELY BEHIND. I WAS FORTUNATE TO PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND TURN OFF/ON THE CAR. THIS APPEARS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH A FAULTY PART, SENSOR OR SOFTWARE THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY THE CAR MANUFACTURER. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN OCTOBER 2014 AND IT CURRENTLY HAS 5940 MILES. IT WAS SERVICED BY DEALERSHIP IN OCTOBER 2015 FOR 12-MONTH MAINTENANCE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 MERCEDES BENZ GLK250. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30.

WHILE EXITING THE HWY THE CAR SLOW DOWN ON ITS OWN FROM ABOUT 60 TO AROUND 45 WITHOUT BREAKING. INOPERATIVE SEE OWNER'S MANUAL APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STARTED LOOSING POWER. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE IT DID WOULD NOT SPEED UP PASS 50. AFTER COMING TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND IT WAS VERY SLOW EVEN WHEN THE PEDAL WAS ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME. I PUMP THE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO SPEED UP AND IT WOULD NOT GO PASS 55-60 DESPITE PRESSING THE GAS TO THE FLOOR. AFTER I GOT HOME I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON THEN DRIVE IT AGAIN, ACCELERATION SEEMED TO COME BACK AND THE LIGHTS WERE NO LONGER ON THE DASHBOARD

MESSAGE DASHBOARD INDICATOR (MDI) READ "INOPERATIVE. SEE OPERATOR'S MANUAL" WITH OTHER MALFUNCTION LIGHTS INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL). TURNED CAR OFF AN ON AND ONLY THE CEL REMAINED. ALSO, THERE WAS A RECURRING TICKING NOISE THAT PRECEDED AFOREMENTIONED ISSUES THAT I ALSO REPORTED. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED LOOSE PIN IN ENGINE ECU (P045100) FOR THE CEL AND REPLACED A HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FOR THE TICKING NOISE. TICKING NOISE CONTINUED AND VEHICLE RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE TICKING NOISE WAS RELATED TO THE DASH/RADIO/AC CONTROL PANEL/DASH TRIMMING MOVING AGAINST EACH OTHER BUT INDICATED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL (3778 MILES) . THE ISSUE RELATED TO THE MDI AND CEL OCCURRED AGAIN ON 01/25/2015. AS WITH THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE, THE CEL REMAINED ON AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO STALL WHILE I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN DRIVING A FEW HOURS LATER. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY. I NOTICED THAT THE CAR DROVE VERY SLUGGISHLY. FOR EXAMPLE, THE CAR WOULD HARDLY ACCELERATE REGARDLESS OF HOW FAR DOWN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AFTER ATTEMPTING TO CONTINUE FROM THE RED LIGHT. I RECALLED THIS HAPPENING WITH THE FIRST OCCURRENCE BUT THEN THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING I WAS DOING INCORRECTLY. THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE AND AS I DROVE APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES TO MY FINAL DESTINATION. THE ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AT 10:40 AM (4017 MILES). OUT OF CONCERN, AND ADVICE FROM FAMILY MEMBERS GIVEN WHAT HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED, I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL AUTO STORE TO SEE IF THEY COULD DETERMINE ANY FAULT CODES.
