The vehicle finally became inoperable at 119,000 miles due to lifter failure. Lifter issues started when the vehicle had about 106,000 miles on it. There were multiple misfire and gas mileage became worse. There was a loud ticking noise coming from the engine as well. Vehicle has been well maintained and only 1 owner, purchased new. With the lifter failure, this caused damage to the camshaft and which led to an excess amount of metal shavings to be spread throughout the engine. The vehicle ultimately had to get a engine replacement because of the excess metal shavings in the engine.

The engine has lifters ticking when cold and a loss of power during operation. The engine hesitates during driving at different times and runs rough. There is no warning before this happens and no warning lights/sensors activated. The truck only has 76k miles on it.

The engine has this ticking sound that has progressively gotten louder and now the engine shakes. My truck has turned off multiple times in traffic at a random and I would presume it’s from a failing engine.

The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary at a red light, upon starting to drive and attempting to make a right turn, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to immediately restart the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 160,000.

The truck was sitting at home in the driveway (untouched) for 3 days. Suddenly smoke began to appear from under the hood and within minutes, the engine compartment burst into flames. Because of the fire, smoke and water damage, the vehicle was considered a total loss by the insurance company. The fire marshal advised that the fire started in the vicinity of the passenger side starter battery. It is thought the fire originated from the battery or the grid heater relay that is very near the passenger side battery. The fire also damaged a nearby RV that experienced smoke and heat damage. It was a very intense fire. There were no open recalls on this vehicle and no recent maintenance work performed.

Vehicle has presented multiple electrical problems which I understand is caused by the TIPM module which controls all electrical components in the vehicle. I have replaced the vehicle battery on 5 occasions over the past 5 or 6 years. One reason is the fuel pump fails to shut-off after the vehicle is turned off and continously cycles fuel until the battery is drained. Secondly, the ignition module is faulty and presents a safety risk to the vehicle occupants and the public's safety as the power to the vehicle cuts off while in operation at various level of speed to include highway speeds.The vehicle becomes disabled when it hits a road bump or while making a turn, making it hard to maneuver and may cause operator to lose control of the vehicle and crash with other vehicles, objects or people.

The contact owns a 2012 RAM 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 15 MPH, the electronics in the vehicle behaved erratically and the vehicle lost all motive power. After restarting the vehicle, it seemed to return to normal functionality but has since become a regular occurrence. The battery warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the TIPM. The contact stated that the TIPM had been replaced three weeks prior. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number 14V530000 (Electrical System), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

I had a recall, R36 - NHTSA Recall #15V-459, completed in 2015 for my 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. However, currently, the same issues associated with that recall is causing my Air Bag warning light to turn on. This is surely a safety issue. By the recommendation of Mopar/Stellantis Customer Care, I had it diagnosed by the dealer and was told I have to pay for the cost to repair. I believe this same issue, Clock Spring malfunction, is the same as the recall and should be fixed and the cost to repair not be incurred by the owner. Expired warranty, completed recall, etc. shouldn't be a factor if the same problem is happening, hence the recall.

MY AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE SEAT HAS BEEN CUT DUE TO THE SEAT BEING MOVED BACK AND FORTH. THE HARNESS WAS ROUTED ABOVE THE TRACK ON THE SEAT AND OVER TIME IT GOT CUT AND OR UNPLUGGED AS THE WIRE WAS TOO SHORT. I HAVE TO HAVE THE WHOLE SYSTEM REPLACED IN ORDER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THERE HAS BEEN 7 DIFFERENT EMAILS SENT TO CHRYSLER DODGE IN MICHIGAN WITH A COUPLE OF RETURN RESPONSES. I HAVE PAID OUT OF POCKET AND TIME TO HAVE THIS ISSUE TRY TO BE RESOLVED ON LOCAL LEVEL AND NOW IT HAS GONE FAR BEYOND WHAT I CAN DO AND NEEDS TO BE ESCALATED AS THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM. THE AIR BAG HARNESS NOT BEING CONNECTED WILL CAUSE IT NOT TO DEPLOY DURING AN ACCIDENT OR MAYBE MALFUNCTION AND DEPLOY DURING DRIVING. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND NEEDS TO BE HANDLED. *LN *JS

IT WAS BELOW 25 DEGREES WHEN I GOT UP THIS MORNING SO THE WINDOW HAD ICE ON IT. I STARTED MY TRUCK TO DEFROST THE WINDOW. I OPENED THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR TO PUT MY BAG IN AND WHEN I CLOSED THE DOOR THE AIRBAG WENT OFF. I SEE OTHER TRUCKS SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR HAVE HAD ISSUES BUT MY VIN SAYS THAT THERE IS NOT AN AIRBAG ISSUE WITH MY TRUCK. I BEG TO DIFFER; SO NOW IT WILL COST $1100 TO FIX IT AND I AM WORRIED THAT THE OTHER AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY WITH ME DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE.

The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shut off with unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was restarted immediately after the failure; however, the failure persisted, and the vehicle would no longer immediately restart after the failure. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle several times before the vehicle eventually restarted. The contact used a code reader to determine the cause of the failure but was unable to diagnose the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the failure was likely related to a defective fuel pump relay. Both the dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 310,000.

Truck switched off, immediately switched back on, all dash lights flashed, transmission was in manual mode and showed in 6 gear. This happened four times within a 2 week period while turning slightly to the right and under light acceleration. My truck has been in a reputable repair shop for over a week and the technicians can't find out what's wrong. No computer codes were recorded.

While driving my Ram truck at approximately 55 MPH, the front gas tank strap failed, causing the front portion of the fuel tank to drop below the vehicle’s body. Upon inspection, I found that the strap securing the tank had detached from its connection point on the frame. The failed part is available for inspection upon request. This incident presented a serious safety hazard to myself and others on the road, as the entire fuel tank could have separated from the vehicle, creating a significant risk of fire or collision. The issue was reported to a local dealership, which advised me to contact Dodge. Dodge acknowledged the issue but stated there is no warranty coverage or recall, and that any repair would be at my expense. No formal inspection has been performed other than my own, and I have implemented a temporary repair to secure the tank. There were no warning lights or prior symptoms before the failure. The only indication was a loud clunking noise followed by the sound of the strap repeatedly striking the drivetrain.

I noticed while looking underneath my vehicle the front fuel tank strap was no longer attached. Further inspection show the frame had rusted enough that the fuel tank strap is no longer attachable. I noticed a recall (U04 / NHTSA 18V-160) was available however my VIN shows no record of this recall being available. So no dealer will assist me with it although my vehicle meets all of the prerequisites the recall states. Currently undriveable due to safety concerns.

Front gas tank strap pulled out from (rusted)-frame. Dropping front of (full) gas tank inches from road. I’m told there was an extended warranty for the issue. That I never received notice of. It has since expired. I found recall - U04/NHTSA 18V-160 That I’m also told doesn’t apply to my vehicle. Odd that the extended warranty would have. But the recall doesn’t?

While driving down the highway I hit a bump then got a severe grinding noise in my 2012 Ram 1500. I pulled over and found the front gas tank strap had pulled out of the welded frame bracket for the fuel tank strap. The strap was not broken, the front fuel tank frame bracket had rusted out. The front fuel tank bracket which is welded to the frame needs to be repaired so the fuel tank strap will be held securely. The grinding I heard was the front fuel tank strap that had become detached was rubbing on the driveshaft.

My headlights (specifically on the driver side) keeps going out randomly. I have replaced the high and low beam bults 3 times and the wiring harness twice. I can be driving down the road and they it will go out and 10 minutes later it will just come back on all on it's on. I looked on all of the Dodge discussion forums and this seems to be a very common issue with this make/model of the Dodge Ram 1500 I recieve no error messages on my dash console telling me that this has occurred. However, every other bulb that has ever went out gave an error on the dash.

I went out to start my truck and there was only one headlight working. After replacing the left driver's side bulb multiple times and it still didn't work I had a mechanic look at it and he figured out it was a wiring connector problem.

The brake line broke on my Dodge truck and all the brake fluid leaked out. Fortunately this didn't happen while driving on the highway. I discovered no brakes when I got in the vehicle to leave. I have a long driveway. As I was driving the slight grade down to the main road, I hit the brakes and they went to the floor. I was able to turn around in my yard before all the brake fluid was gone and get the truck back to my barn. I got under the truck and took a picture. I discovered that the brakes had rusted and leaked out the fluid. No one has inspected it or confirmed it. The truck is not safe to drive and sitting in my barn

I have had to have the ABS and HCU modules replaced twice. This is a known issue and Fiat Chrysler is only repairing and reimbursing 2017 to 2018 trucks. Both of my repairs were at Dodge dealerships and are documented.

In approximately 2019 I received multiple warning lights including "Serv 4WD", TCS disabled, and ABS warning lights. Had it looked at by the dealer who replaced wheel sensors and performed diagnostics. All lights cleared exept TCS disabled warning which is indicationg that the TCS system is not functioning and has a collateral effect of the cruise control not being able to turn on. I have paid to have this remaining indication diagnosed on two different occasions, each leading to a dealership recommendation to replace the Hydraulic Control Unit / ABS Module at a cost of approximately $1500 and a wait for backordered parts exceeding one year - all with no guarantee of this fixing the problem. My truck has been in this condition for about 5 years now. A quick Google search will show that there have been multiple instances of faults of this type affecting the HCU/ABS modules with the problem becoming particularly prevalent in the 2017-2018 model years. Thousands of complaints have been submitted and Class Action Lawsuits started, but it appears FCA has yet to adequately address this potential safety issue caused by a defective part that is known to them.

As I was driving and started to come to a stop, my brakes lost all pressure. I was able to safely stop on the side of the road. When I checked the vehicle, I found that the rear driver side brake line had been severed due to it rubbing against the wheel. I checked the passenger side and saw the same mark, but the line has not been severed yet.

When driving at parking lot speeds on extremely hot days and/or a lot of in town driving, brakes not responding and brake pedal will go to the floor. Have ran a stop sign and came close to rear ending other vehicles at red lights. Dealer replaced rear brakes (Calipers, Rogers & Pads) Problem still exist and is currently back at Dealership. They can't find anything wrong.

When using iPhone through Bluetooth connect it stops working and then freezes. You have to shut the vehicle off wait for a few minutes and then turn vehicle back on. When I say it freezes it makes the whole radio unusable.

Shifter slips out of gear unexpectedly at times (eg. drive to neutral) while driving and without cause. Unable to place it in park at times as well. We attempted to fix the problem, but a necessary part (gearshift cable) is discontinued and cannot be located anywhere. The truck is not safe and cannot pass a safety inspection and cannot be repaired.

RAM 1500 EXPRESS 2012, LACK OF CABIN AIR FILTER CAUSES DIRT TO ACCUMULATE IN THE A/C EVAPORATOR CORE, WICH COMBINED WITH THE MOISTURE CAUSED BY THE NORMAL USE OF THE A/C CAUSED ACCELERATED CORROSION IN THE EVAPORATOR CORE CAUSING A/C GASES LEAK INSIDE THE CABIN WICH WENT TO THE ATMOSPHERE. ITS A DESIGN FLAW FOR WICH I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE IF THERES A RECALL FOR AND RECIVED A NEGATIVE ANSWER, I HAD TO PAY 402 DOLLARS TO BUY A REPLACEMENT AND 33 DOLLAR MODIFICATION KIT TO ADD A CABIN FILTER. THE GAS LEAK OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO A TOOL STORE TO GET TOOLS FOR MY JOB AND HEARD SOME NOISE LIKE A LEAK AND FELT DIZZY SO I WENT AHEAD AND OPENED THE WINDOWS TO BREATH FRESH AIR BECAUSE THE GAS LEAK MADE ME FEEL SICK SO I DAD TO STOP, ALL FREON LEAKED WITHIN MINUTES. I APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE BECAUSE AFTER LOOKING ONLINE FOR AIR FILTERS FOR THAT YEAR WICH BY DESIGN DON'T HAVE IT I WAS SHOWN MODIFICATION KITS FROM A LOT OF DIFERENT SITES SO ITS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE WICH I FEEL THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. LEAK ON OLD EVAPORATOR CAN BE SEEN ON THE PICTURE AS A STAIN, CLEARLY ON THE MORE DIRTY SIDE OF THE EVAPORATOR. THANK YOU .

The contact owns a 2012 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his son was driving approximately 50 MPH, there was an abnormal thud coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that his son was unaware of a warning light being illuminated and continued driving to his destination. The contact was informed that the vehicle muffler might have fallen off the vehicle. The contact drove to his son's workplace and inspected underneath the vehicle and became aware that the right front strap of the fuel tank had detached from the body of the vehicle and was touching the ground. The fuel tank was no longer properly secured to the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle back to the residence. The contact called a dealer and was informed that there had been a manufacturer program to cover the repair of the fuel tank straps due to rust however, the vehicle was not covered under the program. The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. No warning lights were illuminated. After several attempts, the vehicle restarted. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while starting the vehicle, after releasing the key fob, the vehicle stalled. The contact taped the key to the side of the vehicle to start. The contact stated that once the key fob was taped, the windows failed to roll up, the indicators failed to function as intended, the heater and A/C failed to operate as needed, and the hazard lights were inoperable. -Wireless Ignition Node (WIN) malfunctioned while driving and randomly shut the engine off. The component is available for inspection. -The vehicle immediately loses power and power steering. At high speeds or an intersection could cause a crash. -Research online has indicated that these are known to cause issues after a period of time where the contacts wear out. -The vehicle or component has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. -There were no warning lamps or messages. The only other symptoms of the problem prior was an immediate shutdown of the engine after starting at random instances.

Wireless ignition module fails to maintain connection with key fob inserted. Looses power on highway if I hit a bump. Dealer will not address the issue. Door locks are also now not functioning. Am assuming it is the trash TIPM in this 2012 ram 1500 chrysler installed. This whole 2012 ram should be recalled totally unsafe vehicle to have my 5 year old and 5 month old in.

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY, INTERSTATE, OR STREET OCCASIONALLY THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF CAUSING NO LIGHTS IF OPERATING AT NIGHT TIME AND NO POWER STEERING AND GAUGE CLUSTER IS ALSO OFF. AFTER PULLING OVER AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE AND JIGGLING THE IGNITION KEY AND TURNING IGNITION KEY TO START THE VEHICLE THEN IT WILL START AND RUN NORMALLY UNTIL THE NEXT INCIDENT ACCRUES. I HAVE FOUND THAT THE IGNITION ON THESE PARTICULAR VEHICLES GO BAD FOR WHATEVER REASON AND LOSE CONTACT WHICH TURNS THE VEHICLE OFF WHILE DRIVING AT ANYTIME. MY 2012 RAM 1500 IS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE WIN MODULE AND WILL SHUT OFF AT ANY GIVEN TIME. IT WILL SOMETIMES NOT START AND IT HAS DIED ON ME ON THE INTERSTATE RUNNING 55MPH+. THE WIN MODULE HAS BEEN RECALLED ON OTHER MODELS OF CHRYSLER DODGE MODELS BUT NOT THE RAM. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE OFTEN TIMES I HAVE MY CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AND I LOOSE STEERING WHEN IT SHUTS OFF. I'VE READ IN NUMEROUS FORUMS AND TALKED WITH OTHER WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE GOTTEN NO WHERE WITH GETTING IT FIXED. I WOULD LIKE THIS SAFETY ISSUE TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE ME AND MY CHILDREN OR SOMEONE ELSE IS SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS SIMPLE YET VERY EXPENSIVE FIX AT OWNERS COST.

TIPM failure. Vehicle fails to start ("crank, no start" or it acts likes it's out of gas) and/or fuel pump continues pumping after turning the vehicle off (draining battery).The vehicle stalls while driving which has created very unsafe conditions. There has been recalls on other dodge vehicles with same problem. This needs to be a uniform recall on all affected vehicles.

Shut off vehicle and fuel pump kept running. Tapped on Totally Integrated Power Managment module and stuck relay corrected, so the fuel pump shut off. Found a safety recall (Safety Recall R09/NHTSA 15v-115) for stuck relay in TIPM on same year Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee. A quick search of many automotive enthusiast forums indicates this issue is common in my particular year, make, and model vehicle as well. I believe this recall should be expanded to include all Dodge products using similar TIMP/Fuel Relay configurations. It is very likely this relay could have been stuck off, while driving causing an unexpected engine shutdown. In my case I was lucky it was stuck on.

Furthermore, in an attempt to mitigate the TIPM's failure and maintain continuous fuel pump operation, some individuals have resorted to unauthorized modifications, commonly referred to as "Jerry rigging," by bypassing the system with improvised wiring to maintain a constant "hot status." However, this makeshift solution introduces additional risks, including the heightened potential for serious fires due to the bypassed safety mechanisms. Given the severity of these safety concerns and the absence of a comprehensive recall, there is a pressing need for the manufacturer to take decisive action to rectify the TIPM system's deficiencies and ensure the safety of affected vehicles and their occupants.

The TIPM is failing in several areas... Starter, fuel pump and passenger compartment heater. This seems to be a common problem and Ram has never been held accountable... This plastic box and wires that should cost under a hundred dollars to replace is being sold on line between $500 and $1500 The manufacturer also has a built in design flaw where the electrical auto start function is disabled if the consumer has to replace the battery. They must pay a dealer to reprogram the truck to auto start... Seems like Dodge new they would be robbing the public on both of these items...

THE FOLLOWING WEEK I RECEIVED A CALL FROM HER STATING THAT THE PARTS HAD NOT CAME IN. SHE HAD LAUGHED ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO GET PARTS SHE HAD BEEN ORDERING. TOLD ME SHE WOULD CALL ME WHEN SHE GOT THEM IN. NEVER TELLING ME THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE RECALL. THAT IT WAS FATALLY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I RECEIVED DOCUMENTATION FOR THE RECALL AND CALLED TO SEE WHAT WOULD BE DONE TO REMEDY IT. The contact owns a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500. The side step detached from the vehicle's driver side of the vehicle while the contact was attempting to enter the vehicle. The bolts that were attaching the component had completely rusted through causing the failure. As a result, the contact sustained a injured knee during their fall. Medical attention was not sought. The dealer was contacted but had not inspected the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed that there was no recall. There was a warranty related repair however the vehicle was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000.

VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. UPON WASHING THE CAB WITH A LOWER PRESSURE GARDEN HOSE A LARGE HOLE FORMED IN THE BACK CORNER OF THE CAB. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION IT APPEARS TO BE RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. I CHECK THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAB AND SEE THAT THE PAINT IS BADLY BUBBLED UP INDICATING RUST UNDER THE PAINT ON THAT SIDE AS WELL. THE CLEAR COAT WAS STILL INTACT IN BOTH PLACES. I WOULD'VE EXPECTED TO CAB TO OUTLAST THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, BUT THAT'S NOT THE CASE. THIS TRUCK LOOKS SHOW ROOM FLOOR NEW AND HAS NEVER EVEN BEEN TO THE SALT BELT.

Failure of fuel pump relay on above listed 2012 Ram 1500 at 69,999 miles. Current repair requires replacement of entire TIPM module (at a cost of $1,000 to 2,000) as this relay is soldered to the circuit board deep inside the module, making it nearly impossible to cost effectively replace this critical $10.00 part. Of note, the TIPM installed in this vehicle has 10 slots (9 relays installed and 1 open slots) for "replaceable" relays under the cover. Of these replaceable relays at least 2 (blower motor and park lamp) are less critical with one empty slot available. Further a safety recall was issued in December of 2014 (Safety Recall P54/14V530 Fuel Pump Relay) for 2011 models of the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee, but no other models despite that the same or very similar designed TIPM's are used in virtually all Chrysler, Dodge, Ram and Jeep vehicles along with many VW models. If this was a SAFETY ISSUE for select 2011 models, why not the other vehicles using the same or similar TIPM's. Further experience has shown that the Chrysler fix tends to have a high failure rate also. Suggestion: Recall all vehicles with TIPM's which have soldered in Relays, for replacement with a re-designed part which allows for all the relays that can be readily replaced. Further consideration in the design of a new part should include the minimization or elimination of multiple points of failure (is a relay really necessary on a circuit?).

WITH THE COLD WEATHER, IT'S NOT CRANKING. I HAD A NEW BATTERY AND STARTER INSTALLED AND IT STILL DOESN'T CRANK UNLESS IT'S IN NEUTRAL AND I PRESS THE FUEL PEDDLE. I STARTED TO HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE TRUCK AS IT WOULD NOT START IN THE MORNINGS WHEN I WAS TRYING TO GO TO WORK. I REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND IT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SHORTLY AFTER THAT, MY BATTERY WOULD BE DEAD MOST MORNINGS. I REPLACED THE BATTERY, BUT STILL THE PROBLEMS CONTINUED. THE TRUCK STARTED TO LOSE POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING SO I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC. HE TOLD ME THAT THE TIPM WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM TO HAVE IT FIXED. I HAVE DRIVEN THE TRUCK LESS THAT 7000 MILES SINCE I PURCHASED IT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH FCA, THEY SAY THAT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP OUT BECAUSE THE TRUCK IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WANT TO KNOW WHY A RECALL WAS NEVER PUT IN PLACE AND ENACTED BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY I'M HAVING TO PAY $1794.03 OUT OF POCKET FOR THE FAULTS OF THE MANUFACTURER PF THE VEHICLE.

I GOT INTO THE CAB OF MY TRUCK AND IT SMELLED WET. I LOOKED UP AT HEAD LINER AND SAW THAT IT WAS WATER STAINED. I LOOKED ON DODGERAMFORUM AND SAW THAT OTHERS HAD EXPERIENCED THIS. I STUCK MY HAND INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN THE OUTER AND INNER SHELLS OF THE CAB AND IT WAS WET. I TOOK THE ASSEMBLY TO LODI CDJR, WHO TOLD ME THE GASKET WAS DEFECTIVE. THEY WERE SELLING THE REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY AT $22.70 SO THAT PEOPLE COULD QUICKLY MAKE THE REPAIR. RECALL? NO. SOMEWHERE I LEARNED THAT SEVERAL YEAR MODELS WERE AFFECTED, INCLUDING MY OTHER VEHICLE, A 2014 DODGE RAM EXPRESS. SO I BOUGHT ANOTHER REPLACEMENT ASSEMBLY TO INSTALL ON IT. I ASKED IF THEY WOULD COVER THE COST. HE SAID THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME, BUT NEVER DID. A FEW WEEKS LATER, I OPENED THE GLOVE BOX OF THE 2012 TRUCK AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS RUST ON SOME OF MY PAPERS. I LOOKED UP INTO THE GLOVE BOX AND SAW RUSTED WIRES. I THINK THE WATER DRAINED FROM THE TOP OF THE CAB INTO THE FRONT OF THE FIREWALL AND SOAKED THE CIRCUITRY. CRUISE CONTROL, MY PASSENGER WINDOW, OTHER THINGS DON'T FUNCTION PROPERLY AT ALL TIMES. VEHICLE STARTING SHAKING A LOT AND OVER A MONTH PERIOD IT WORE OUT MY FRONT TWO TIRES, I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH TIRES (ALIGNMENT / BALANCE WAS CONDUCTED). THE 2 NEW TIRES WERE PLACED ON THE BACK AND NOW THE OLD BACK TIRES ARE IN FRONT AND THEY'RE STARTING TO WEAR OUT AS WELL AND THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE STARTING TO SHAKE. NOT SURE IF THE SUSPENSION IS BAD, THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT OR ANYTHING HAS BEEN HIT. THE TRUCK IS IMMACULATE CONDITION OTHER THAN THE FRONT SUSPENSION IS SHAKING.

The dash warning light appeared referring to a possible problem with the airbags. I took vehicle to the local dealer and I was informed after their inspection that I did have a problem the passenger airbag. They said they would need to replace passenger seat airbag and wiring harness associated with that device.

THE SPARK PLUS/ FUEL INJECTORS/ AND COIL PACKS HAVE BEEN CHANGED. OUT OF NOWHERE I GET A CODE WHILE DRIVING OUT OF TOWN. THE TRUCK HAS ALWAYS HAD A RUNNING TICK TO IT. I HAVE MY VECHILE SERVICED BY DODGE THEMSELVES. THEY NEVER STATED IT WAS AN ISSUE. THIS IS A BIG ISSUE IN HEMI 5.7 ENGINES MANUFACTURED AFTER THE REDESIGNED FROM THE MAGNUM PLATFORM.

PASSENGER SIDE HIGH AND LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OUT AT ANY TIME. WAS TOLD THE PROBLEM IS THE TCIM. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF THEY GO OUT WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN THE DARK. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE TCIM IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND MAY ONLY SOLVE THE PROBLEM TEMPORARILY.

I DIMMED THE HEADLIGHTS AND IT STOPPED. THE DEALER FIRST SAID THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD, AND IT WAS ONLY CHARGING AT 12 VOLTS, SO THEY REPLACED IT, BUT THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEN THEY SAID IT WAS THE TIPM. 17 DAYS AND $1351 LATER, I HAVE MY TRUCK BACK.

I BOUGHT 2012 RAM 1500 IN AUGUST 2018, I MAKE PAYMENT. THIS PAST APRIL VIBRATION AND HESITATION GOT WORSE, I HAD PLUGS REPLACED , DIDN'T HELP. FOUND OUT THAT LIFTERS NEEDED REPLACED AND CAMSHAFT. I SPENT $217 ON PLUG REPLACEMENT AND ADDITIONAL $4500 TO REPLACE LIFTERS CAMSHAFT. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON NOW IT'S SAYING VAPORATION LEAK. I HAVE READ THAT THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND NO RECALL FROM CHRYSLER. THIS IS MY FIRST DODGE, THIS WILL BE MY LAST DODGE UNLESS I GET COMPENSATION FROM CHRYSLER. I KNOW THIS TRUCK IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT CHRYSLER HAS TO KNOW THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEMI , I WAS TOLD AT A DEALER THIS WAS COMMON IN HEMI , NO ONE TOLD ME THAT WHEN I BROUGHT I STILL OWE ON THIS TRUCK , PLUS I'M OUT $4667 THAT I CAN'T GET BACK IF I TRADED, ONLY HAD 8 MONTHS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. INFAMOUS HEMI TICKING; ON COLD START THERE'S A PRONOUNCED TICKING THAT GOES AWAY AFTER ABOUT 15 MIN OF RUNNING. FOUND EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT HAD SHEERED; HAD IT REPLACED WITH NEW BOLTS AND GASKET BUT THE TICKING IS STILL THERE. MECHANICS SAY THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE HOWEVER THE TICKING IS RIDICULOUSLY ANNOYING. READ THAT IT MAY BE EXHAUST LEAK HOWEVER, NOTHING CAN BE FOUND THAT NEEDS REPAIR. AS I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH, AND APPROACHING THE CURVES ON THE ROAD AHEAD OF ME, I LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I HAD NO POWER STEERING, GAS, OR BRAKES. ALL GAUGES DROPPED TO 0 AND I HAD TO COAST TO BE ABLE TO STOP. HAD I MADE IT TO THE CURVES, BY VEHICLE WOULD OF CRASHED OFF THE SIDE OF ROAD. APPARENTLY THE PCM WENT BAD. THIS IS NOT A PART THAT SHOULD EVER GO BAD. THIS PART MALFUNCTION COULD OF KILLED ME OR SOMEONE ELSE. NONETHELESS IT WAS ALSO $1303, TOWING FEES, AND 5 DAYS OF CAR RENTAL. Bracket for fuel tank straps broke, causing gas tank to fall during operation without any warning,it could of caused a fire or explosion causing harm to driver and others or death.My local service center confirmed the problem and repaired the bracket and secured the gas tank back into place with new straps.This happened on our about [XXX] about [XXX].Friday (Rush Hour)!! I was at Walmart when I saw the problem returning to my truck.I went to the auto service center to buy some cargo straps to secure the gas tank back into place so it was safe to drive,the service manager was shocked! Thank God that I saw the problem and secured the gas tank!!! I was a mechanic and service manager earlier in life.I called a local Ram Dealer Ganley in Bedford Ohio and found out that this problem had a extended warranty on it that expired 4 or 5 days ago.[XXX].I never received any information of this from the Dealer I bought it from or the manufacturer, I could of been Killed and others due to the neglect of the Dealer and Manufacturer,Buyers of Columbus,Ohio and Fiat, Chrysler ! My 2012 Dodge Ram shuts off or stalls for no apparent reason. Sometimes upon starting, while going down the freeway (at freeway speeds), as well as speeds in between, This has happened with my family in the vehicle and even when we are towing our stock trailer with animals inside. This is very scary for all of us and dangerous for all those on the round around us. While we have not been involved in any accidents, its just a matter of time. There is never any warning when this happens and it not only shuts off it looses power to everything. So times it catches its self and restarts, other times we have to manually restart the engine.

Unknown this truck was not involved in an accident however it came close with steering /brakes the Engine Faulty Wiring Harness caused major issues it wasn’t until recently I saw a video of how to fix the problem you can view these videos online I will say Dodge is Responsible they did have buybacks this too I had No Knowledge of no recalls either however I recently address it to the dealership who sold me this truck the Service Manager told me it’s my issue not theirs they took care of it years ago this is the reason I am sending my complaint I was informed your department will look into this matter to get a resolution on this serious matter thank you. I have some photos the video would not download you can see it if you put 2012 Dodge Ram Engine Faulty Wire issues . Yes I spent $3000 for a mechanic to wire it this should had been fix by Dodge Chrysler not me and it still needs to be fix.

Took the vehicle to a mechanic, said I have problems with the lifters, and need to replace the engine. I don’t know why Chrysler doesn’t issue a recall for this issue, it seems to happen often. IN THE MORNING WHILE STARTING TRUCK NO PROBLEM, ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE DRIVING ON STREET THE TRUCK JUST TURNED OFF. IT HAD HAPPENED BEFORE ON 3 OTHER OCCASIONS BUT THE FIRST ONE WAS FAR APART THEN THE OTHER 2 IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. WHEN I GOT ON THE FREEWAY I NOTICED A HAD TO PUSH HARDER ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GAIN SPEED BUT IT FELT LIKE IT WAS HARD TO PRESS ON AND I WASN'T GETTING TO THE SPEED (60MPH) SO I JUST TOOK IT SLOWLY TO GAIN SPEED. THAT LASTED ABOUT A WEEK. THE FOLLOWING WEEK AFTER TRYING TO GAIN SPEED AT ABOUT 45-50 MPH THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING REALLY BAD SO I LET GO OF THE GAS PEDAL AND TOOK IT SLOW AGAIN. SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC TO GET A BASIC TUNE UP SINCE I HAD JUST GOTTEN AN OIL CHANGE HE WOULD JUST DO SPARK PLUGS ON3/5/20 TO SEE IF IT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I DECIDED TO NOT USE MY TRUCK UNTIL I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC WHICH I DID ON 03/24/20. HIS FINDING WERE THE WORN OUT CAMSHAFT AND HYDRAULIC LIFTER ON CYLINDER 5. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND OF COURSE THERE IS A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT STARTS WITH TRUCKS FROM 2011 AND SOME WITH ONLY OF 58,000 MILES. The seat belt and air bag warning light has stayed on. I have had multiple Mechanics, look at it and even try to inspect it. So the lights will go off and they cannot find a problem. I am just worried that if I getting an accident my seatbelt wont-work correctly and the airbags wont-work correctly. I have tried to do a hard reset and so has the mechanics but the lights stay on.

IN JANUARY 2019, AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND FASTENING THE SEAT BELT, THE SEAT BELT LIGHT CAME BACK ON, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE SEAT BELT MESSAGE SAYS THAT IT IS NOT FASTENED AND IT CHIMES CONTINUOUSLY FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP ON FEBRUARY 20, 2019. THEY FOUND A CODE "U0151 OCR MODULE LOST COMMUNICATION" AND TOLD ME THE OCR MODULE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED BUT IT IS ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT EVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS THAT WOULD HAVE DEPLOYED THE AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 73,000 MILES ON IT. I AM UPLOADING SEVERAL PICTURES. THE FIRST IS THE DASHBOARD SHOWING THE LIGHTS ON AND SEATBELT UNFASTENED MESSAGE EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE SEATBELT FASTENED. The contact stated when the vehicle was turned off and in park, he accidentally bumped the gear shit lever and the vehicle slipped out of park (P) without the brake pedal being depressed. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V821000 (Power Train). The contact stated that he had attempted to set numerous appointments with a local dealer but was unable to set an appointment for the vehicle. Additionally, while driving approximately 55 MPH the contact stated that he began to smell a burning plastic odor. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact observed that smoke was being emitted from the defroster vents on the top of the dash board. The contact stated that he pulled off of the roadway and shut the vehicle off. The contact stated as he exited the vehicle he observed pieces of burning melted plastic were dripping from under the dash and onto the vehicle floor carpets. The contact stated he called the fire department. The fire department arrived and extinguished the flames with a chemical fire extinguisher. The contact stated that the dash board and the right front passenger side were burned by the flames. There was extensive damage to the dashboard. The contact stated that the police also arrived but was not sure if a report had been written. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. Intermittent fault from the TIPM module. When slowing to a stop, or slowing to make a turn, the engine dies without warning resulting in loss of power steering and operability while in traffic. The only indication that the engine has died is the tachometer reads 0 RPM, loss of power steering, and the excelerator becomes inoperable. The radio, headlights, and A/C stay on during this. Coming to a complete stop and putting the truck into park (P) and turning the ignition to OFF and then restarting the truck resolves the problem, but on the highway this is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. This has been diagnosed as an intermittent fault derived from a faulty TIPM module and involves multiple RAM 1500, 2500, 3500 owners. Various issues of similar nature reported to dealerships and on forums.

I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING AND THEN THE TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON. BEFORE I COULD PULL INTO A GAS STATION THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF ON ME. I TURNED THE KEY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURNOVER. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY HOUSE FOR THE NIGHT AND THEN TO MY MECHANIC THE NEXT MORNING. HE COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THAT'S WHEN I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. IT TOOK THEM 2-3 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. WHAT THEY FOUND WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS IS HOW THEY STATED IT ON THE INVOICE: 29303 NO START P0688 ASD CIRCUIT FAULT, FOUND FUSE M19 BLOWN- REPLACED AND ATTEMPTED TO START- FUSE BLEW AGAIN. TRACED ASD CIRCUIT. FOUND IGNITION COIL #5 MELTED. TESTED FURTHER, FOUND #5 SPARK PLUGS FOULED AND CIRCUIT K16 SHORTED TO GROUND. REPLACED SPARK PLUGS, IGNITION INSUFFICIENT IONIZATION FAULT SET DIA AS A PCM WITH INTERNAL DRIVER FAULT CAUSED BY SHORT, REPLACED AND PROGRAMMED PCM. THIS OF COURSE HAPPENED 5 DAYS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED, GRANTED I DID NOT EVEN HAVE 30,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME.

The contact stated that the exterior lights failed to operate as needed, and the vehicle occasionally failed to start. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the TIPM was faulty and needed to be replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 160,000.

Fuel pump randomly shuts down while driving. Or no start condition. Loss of cruise control hitting bumps in the road. Service 4x4, no tc, no cc, trailer lights disconnect. Dealer has recalls on other same year vehicles w same motor w same TIPM defective part. Not on truck. Warranty will not cover due to common problem. Since fuel relay is part of fuse box, will not cover part. Part alone is $2200. Dealer only. Can't get remanfactured, rebuilt, or part store item. Stuck with a truck that barely runs and almost $3000 to fix a non warranty issue. And very common.

Threw my suitcase and dog in floor . I have replaced sensors , knock sensor , coils, sparks plugs - no fix muffler shop said catalytic is not plugged up . Sent me to mechanic said ram / dodge designed these years messed up common problem ,one mechanic telling me new engine parts might fix won’t pass inspection so now it just sits and drys up that’s not right for what it has cost my insurance said there nothing they can help with it only has 84k miles please emission and knock common problem that is mana factory defect surely loss of power in traffic scary please help with insurance and parts , gas I have no money for deep engine problems 84 k should still run like new truck the trip there drove great then I went to start to go back home 2 days later and knocking and wouldn’t drive putting scanner said sensor . This truck was running awesome I like driving . But to malfunction no reason. The codes are not right . need my truck back on the road I live in Texas has to pass emission to get inspection sticker

Malfunction of electronic stability control while in 4x4 driving in heavy snow. Almost hit a light pole, could have caused significant harm. Unknown. No. No precursors. Hit a pot hole while on the on ramp unloading the suspension and the truck started to yaw clockwise. Applied throttle to have front end pull truck straight. ESC applied brakes and chopped power inducing a significant yaw rate counterclockwise driving the rear of the truck into the hard snow bank perpendicular to vehicle travel. Another excessive clockwise yaw occurred at this time. NO throttle control and brakes unresponsive. 1. Had the driver been allowed to retain throttle control upon initial yaw this was easily recoverable. 2. Anti-lock brakes, needed to be disabled so the truck could slide across the snow and not into the ditch when the second clockwise yaw started. 3. This caused minor body damage to the vehicle.

While operating the vehicle at highway speed the vehicle shut off causing total loss of power. This happened on a road with speeds at 55 mph. It also occured while pulling into my driveway at a low speed, and i have had 3 occurences of the vehicle power "surging" at varied speeds. I had the fuel pump replaced, which did not remedy the problem. After hearing my fuel pump running with the vehicle shut off, i did some further research and found that the TIPM (toatally integrated power module) is the culprit and has been found to cause several other electrical system issues. While driving the Vehicle at 9:30pm on 7/22/22 the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own at a very fast rate after I sped up to yield over into another lane coming off the highway. There was luckily no vehicles ahead of me and I was on a straight away or else I would’ve hit someone. I pressed the brakes down but they wouldn’t bring the vehicle to a stop. I placed the transmission in neutral and it slowed down but soon as I put it back in drive it accelerated again. I went through this cycle 4 times then finally I gained control of the vehicle again. I have read online the dealer says it’s user error or floor mats. That was not the case at all. My floor mats are stock and have taps keeping them secure. This situation was very dangerous and if it happens again it could cause serious injury to me or someone else.

Exiting the freeway the truck vibrated and shut off going 55 mph, no brakes, no power steering going into a curve. I managed to keep it on the road and had it Towed to nearest dealership where they were able to diagnose the problem immediately and I was told that this is a know problem with this truck. $6000 to fix, contacted Ram customer service and a very rude woman put the dealership on the line and berated them for claiming there was an issue while explaining that it is completely normal for an engine to blow at 130k miles regardless of maintenance and as it’s out of warranty they were not responsible. “Normal” for an engine to blow, absolutely ridiculous and someone could have died. There are now 533 cases of this happening and Ram refuses to address it.

DURING 2014/2015 THE 2012 DODGE RAM 1500 WOULD FAIL TO START INTERMITTENTLY ESPECIALLY ON COLDER DAYS. DURING JANUARY OF 2015 THE PROBLEM BECAME MORE COMMON ON A DAILY BASIS AND WOULD TAKE 10-15 TIMES TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKE TO DODGE UNDER WARRANTY FOR REPAIR MULTIPLE TIMES AND ACCORDING TO DODGE THE STARTER WAS REPLACED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD START. AFTER OBTAINING THE VEHICLE FROM THE DODGE REPAIR SHOP THE LEFT HEAD LIGHT BEGAN TO GO ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKING TO THE DODGE SERVICE SHOP FOR REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY. DODGE INDICATED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY TIPM AND THAT IT WAS REPLACED AND THAT THE LEFT HEADLIGHT SHOULD WORK APPROPRIATELY. AFTER OBTAINING THE TRUCK ONCE AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND RETURNED TO THE DODGE SHOP WHERE THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION SENSOR WHICH WAS REPLACED. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE DRIVER'S HEADLIGHT BEGAN TO GO ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING AND SITTING STILL. THE DODGE WAS RETURNED TO THE DODGE REPAIR SHOP WHO STATED THAT THE PREVIOUS REPAIR WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY AND SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT COVER ANY REPAIRS EVEN THOUGHT THEY HAVE A 24 MONTH PART POLICY FOR REPAIRS PAID FOR BY THE CUSTOMER. RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE THAT A STEERING WHEEL HARNESS COULD RUB AND DEPLOY THE AIRBAG AT ANY TIME. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO HOLLYWOOD CHRYSLER HOLLYWOOD FL AND THEY REPAIRED AND RETURNED. WHEN I ARRIVED AND FOR THE PRECEDING MONTHS PRIOR MY "FUEL ECONOMY DISPLAY" INDICATED MY AVERAGE MILEAGE WAS 15.8 GALLONS PER MILE REASONABLY WITHIN THE SPECS FOR THIS VEHICLE. FOLLOWING THE WIRING HARNESS REPAIR THE DISPLAY NOW (AND FOR MORE THAN 2 WEEKS ) REPORTS 11.8 MPG. SOMEHOW THE REPAIR ALTERED THE FUEL USAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER CHECKED AND SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. BUT MY MILEAGE HAS GONE FROM 15.8 TO 11.8. I'M NOT DRIVING DIFFERENTLY. MY 2012 RAM 1500 HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVEN TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR FOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE ORIGINAL PROBLEMS WERE RELATED TO THE PCM WHICH WOULD SHORT OUT AND CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO OPERATE IN ONLY ONE GEAR. THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED FINALLY BY REPLACING THE PCM AND VARIOUS OTHER PARTS. MY TRUCK RECENTLY HAD THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE SENSOR, RIGHT HEADLIGHT, AND FUEL PUMP CONTROL GO OUT ALL AROUND THE SAME TIME WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR MY TRUCK TO START AND WHEN IT DID START IT SOUNDED ANEMIC AND WOULD OFTEN HAVE ALERTS GOING OFF. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT THE TIPM WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FUEL PUMP PROBLEMS AND NOW I AM WONDERING IF IT IS THE ROUTE OF ALL THE OTHER PROBLEMS. THIS MOST RECENT REPAIR COST ME $1000 DOLLARS AND WELL OVER $100 IN ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION ARRANGEMENTS. MY TRUCK IS ONLY TWO AND A HALF YEARS OLD WITH 50K MILES ON IT. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS NEW OF A VEHICLE. CHRYSLER AND RAM HAVE A WELL DOCUMENTED HISTORY OF RECENT PROBLEMS WITH THE TIPM ACROSS VARIOUS VEHICLES AND AN INVESTIGATION NEEDS TO BE CONDUCTED AND CUSTOMERS NEED TO BE COMPENSATED FOR THE PROBLEMS THIS PART HAS CAUSED.

THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD US THAT THEY WILL ONLY FIX THE ALIGNMENT AFTER THEY RECEIVE THE RECALL PART# N49. DUE TO THEM HAVING TO REALIGN IT AGAIN AFTER THEY REPAIR N49. AT THIS POINT I SIGNALED TO MOVE ONTO THE SHOULDER WHILE THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO LOSE MOMENTUM. WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL, IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MOVE AS IF I HAD LOST MY POWER STEERING TOO. THE BRAKES WORKED AND I STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER. I PLACED THE TRUCK IN PARK AND BACK TO DRIVE: NOTHING HAPPENED. I PLACED THE TRUCK IN PARK, TURNED IT OFF, WAITED A COUPLE MINUTES AND RESTARTED. THE TRANSMISSION AND STEERING NOW WORKED. AT NO TIME DID ANY WARNING LIGHT APPEAR ON THE DASH. I COULD HAVE CAUSED A SIGNIFICANT PILE UP ON THE FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. SINCE NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASH--HOW DO I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED--OR MORE LIKELY, HOW WILL THE DEALERSHIP FIND THE ROOT CAUSE FOR THIS FAILURE. THIS BEHAVIOR IS DANGEROUS AND UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 2 YEAR OLD TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 15K MILES. I USE MY TRUCK TO SOMETIMES PULL A HORSE TRAILER. AFTER HAVING A BREAKDOWN, DUE TO ROAD DEBRIS DAMAGING A WHEEL / TIRE, I WAS LEFT STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AS I WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE MY SPARE TIRE AND CHANGE THE WHEEL AS MY EMERGENCY ROADSIDE JACK AND TOOLS TO LOWER THE SPARE TIRE WERE MISSING. I CONTACTED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ADVISED THEM OF WHAT WAS GOING ON. THEY DECLINED TO HELP ME, AND FURTHER STATED THAT MOST VEHICLE DO NOT COME WITH SUCH ITEMS AS I HAVE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I LET THE REPRESENTATIVE KNOW HE WAS INCORRECT IN MAKING SUCH A STATEMENT AS IT IS A REQUIREMENT AS FAR AS I WAS CONCERNED, MY MANUAL STATES I HAVE ONE, AS WELL AS THERE IS A PLACE FOR ONE TO GO, HOWEVER THE PACK IT'S SELF IS NOT THERE. HE THEN TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE REPORTED THE PROBLEM SOONER. AFTER ASKING HIM HOW I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT IT UNTIL I HAD AN EMERGENCY, HE TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE INSPECTED THE EQUIPMENT BEFORE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE ENGINE SUDDENLY DIES. ALL POWER STEERING, BRAKES, ETC ARE GONE. I HAVE TO COAST TO A STOP AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 6 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN AUGUST OF 2012. ONE DAY IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN SUCCESSION. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON JUNE 5, 2014. DODGE RAM LARAMIE1500 4X4 CREW CAB BUILT IN JUNE 2012 HAS FACTORY 20X9 ALUMINUM CHROME CLAD WHEELS WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER HP P275/60R20 TIRES. PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THE SPARE TIRE & THE FACTORY JACK. HAD A REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLOW OUT AND HAD TO JACK THE TRUCK TO FIX THE FLAT. FIRST, THE SPARE TIRE SIZE IS P235/85R17, MY WHEELS ARE 20" RIMS AND 1-1/4 HIGHER OVER ALL. THIS TRUCK HAS THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) WHICH STATES TO HAVE THE PROPER SIZE RIMS & TIRES AS THIS SYSTEM MAY NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY IF THEY ARE DIFFERENT SIZES. SECONDLY, THE JACK DODGE PROVIDES CAN'T HOLD THE WEIGHT OF THESE TRUCKS. THIS JACK COLLAPSED SOON AFTER RAISING THE FLAT TRUCK TIRE 1-2" OFF THE GROUND, THE WORM GEAR LOOKS LIKE A U-BOLT. I WAS ON VACATION IN SMOKES GOING UP A HILL. I WAS BEHIND A SLOW MOVING CAR ABOUT 25 TO 35 MPH. WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN MY TRUCK STARTS SLUGGING. IT WAS LIKE IT DIDN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR TO GET IN. IT WOULD GO HIGH AND START JERKING THEN LOW. THEIR WAS A CAR BEHIND ME SO FINALLY I JUST STOPPED IN THE ROAD TO LET THE ONE IN FRONT GO ON. IT FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING FALL OUT OF THE TRUCK. NOW IT DOES IT JUST GOING DOWN THE ROAD . I CAN PUSH THE PEDDLE 1/4 WAY DOWN AND IT DOES NOT RESPOND . IT SHIFTS IN TO A HIGHER GEAR TO SOON THIS TRANSMISSION IN THESE TRUCK NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GET HURT OR KILLED. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT THEY GOING TO DO. GUESS ITS THE CAUSE OF THE VIBRATION AT 60 TO HIGHER ALSO. I TOOK IT TO DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAID ITS ALL NORMAL . HOW CAN IT BE NORMAL WHEN IT WAS NOT DOING IT WHEN I FIRST GOT IT. 2012 DODGE RAM WITH 4.7 LITRE ENGINE. NOTICED A GROUND OUT VIBRATION TYPE NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS AND AT IDLE IN GEAR AT STOP LIGHT THERE WAS A REALLY NOTICEABLE VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL. FOUND POWER STEERING PUMP TO BE LOOSE AND UNDER FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND THAT THERE WERE NO THREADS IN MOUNTING BOLT HOLE AT THE 9:00 POSITION AND THE LOWER BOLT AT THE 6:00 POSITION IN THE END OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. THEREFORE THERE WAS ONLY ONE BOLT HOLDING ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND IT HAD LOOSENED UP AND NOW THE PUMP AND LINE WERE VIBRATING. VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED AT DEALERSHIP BY REPLACING THE CYLINDER HEAD. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT THE PLANT IN THIS CONDITION AND DEFINITELY SHOULD NOT OF LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS SHOWS VERY POOR QUALITY CONTROL AT BOTH THE PLANT AND DEALERSHIP NEW VEHICLE PREP DEPARTMENT. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS COULD BE AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF VEHICLES WITH THIS ENGINE BUILT AT THIS TIME SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THIS TRUCK WAS DELIVERED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN MID NOVEMBER NOT SURE OF EXACT BUILD DATE DUE TO TRUCK NOT BEING IN MY POSSESSION RIGHT NOW IT IS AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. *TR
