A warning “Service Electronic Stability Control” is on and off when I’m driving. Brought it to local Ram Dealer but they said they can do anything about it.

I opened my passenger side front door. The running board deployed. When the running board contacted my shin it automatically retracted. However, my dog got his paw caught between the running board and the truck frame. The running board did not sense the obstruction. I had to hold my dog down to close the door and open it again to deploy the running board. My dog bit me in the process because he was scared.

The generator bearings are making a wining noise. It was confirmed by an experienced independent mechanic that the E-torque generator needs replacement. The dealer said the generator is not in stock. Further research showed the part is on back order for months, with thousands of others waiting and in the same boat of no parts available.

This engine has failed by the head gaskets, literally all 4, cracking/breaking. This caused coolant to leak into the engine, mix with the oil, depleating the coolant, thereby causing the truck to overheat and break down. With repairs this continues to happen. 3 times to be exact! This cannot be normal for this engine especially when this happened with less than 90K miles on the engine.

Smoke leaks into cabin when heat is on. Possibly coolant/heating core. I saw many complaints for the same issue on the internet and figured i would make an official complaint

The e-Torque motor generator unit is failing, rendering the truck unsafe to drive. Catastrophic failure of this unit while in operation would likely cause loss of control. Signs of failure primarily have been increasing noise in the unit common to bearing failure. The component was inspected by an independent service center and confirmed to need immediate replacement. The part is currently unavailable from any source, and the manufacturer reports a back order with no known date of availability.

I leased this vehicle, brand new. I bought out the lease just over a year ago. The truck has under 113,000 miles. I drove the vehicle to New York for a trip. The motor started, knocking, ticking real bad so I pulled into the shop (Monroe) they looked at the engine and said it's blown. They was no waring/check engine light never came on. Gauges were fine (digital). It cost me 16 grand to put a new motor in and dodge will not cover it. The mechanic also stated, he sees these engine blown (V6) all the time in my RAM and in the Durango's.

I own a 2020 Ram 1500 with approximately 61,000 miles. I started noticing a clicking/grinding around the motor area at around 59,000 miles. I brought the truck to a local mechanic, who diagnosed it as a possible alternator issue. He suggested bringing it to RAM service because it may be covered under warranty. I followed up by bringing it to RAM to diagnose the issue. After multiple visits, they could not pinpoint the issue, however recommended replacing the belts and adjusters. Over the course of the next month, the clicking/grinding got louder. I made another appointment with RAM, and while I was on my way over there the truck had catastrophic failure and seized all operations. Thankfully I wasn't going more then 20MPH or else something really bad could have happened. At that time, the truck was reading code U0594, which translates to "Invalid Data Received From Hybrid/EV Powertrain Control Module". I had to get the truck towed to RAM, where they have now had it for about one month. Originally they had said that I would need to buy a new alternator and associated belts/adjustors and battery because i was beyond any standard warranties on the truck, with estimates over what the vehicle is worth, however some personal research found that there is a federal emissions warranty that covers an issue like this. I was fortunate enough to get a loaner car from the dealer two weeks after my truck seized up. I have read online that this is becoming a more common issue with these trucks and feel the manufacturer should raise a warning to their consumers. Had I been on the highway when this happened, who knows where I could be.

This is a 2020 Ram 1500 3.6L Big Horn. Blinker is constantly on for right turn when blinker arm is in neutral position. The only way to turn it off is to put the blinker arm down as if you are signaling a left turn. As such, I have no left turn signal. This could be dangerous for changing lanes especially on the highway. I have not brought this to a dealer yet and no one has looked at it yet except me. There was/is no warning signal. I have seen recall A2B/NHTSA 24E-082 which identifies two part numbers and also states that similar parts (SCCM) may be affected. I think I have a defective SCCM but there is no recall on my vehicle.
Dec 10, 2025
The alternator failed on my vehicle leaving the vehicle without any power in the middle of the interstate roadway having to manually pushed to the side of a very busy highway then towed to a repair shop afterwards. Simply put, my truck just killed in the middle of a interstate very shortly after having a low battery light come on. Speaking with the repair people at the Ram dealership there is no way to repair the alternator and they currently have over 5,000 of these on backorder from them going out in other vehicles with the same alternator. Warning lamps came on the dashboard but only about 30 minutes before the vehicle lost power and was unable to move.
Dec 04, 2025
The vehicle had 2 leaks; 1 at the rear cabin window and 1 at the rear brake light. Both of these areas are part of a TSB/class action lawsuit. Water was getting in and caused the module to go bad. The module not working in turn caused the battery to die and because of all the failed attempts and overloading the starter, the starter ended up going out after they started fixing the module.

The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated while driving at 20 MPH, the message "Alternator Fault Detected" was displayed. The vehicle lost motive power and came to a complete stop in the middle of the roadway, where the vehicle was unable to restart. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 40,000.

The driver's side windshield wiper is not working because the wiper arm attachment (at the spindle) is stripped. The motor spindle rotates but the wiper does not wipe the windshield. No warning indicators, lamps or messages.

In 2022, I had the dealer replace the driver's visor because it broke and was hanging down by its electrical connection. It was obstructing the drivers forward view. This repair was covered under the bumper to bumper warrantee. In 2025, the visor broke again exactly as before however, this time the repair will not be covered as a defect. Online, there are a lot of people who are having the exact same issue with their visors. I believe that this issue is a major safety issue because it distracts and blocks the drivers view and should become a recall issue

THE REARVIEW CAMERA ON THE VEHICLE DISPLAY A BLACK SCREEN IN PLACE OF THE REARVIEW IMAGE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED BY THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND AFTER A WHILE THE REARVIEW CAMERA DISPLAY A BLACK SCREEN AGAIN. THIS IS AN ISSUE WHEN BACK PARKING OR JUST GETTING OUT FROM PARKING SPOT. I have had to replace the Driver's Side sun visor on my truck twice due to failure of the bracket holding the visor in place. The most recent time this happened was this month (August 2025). While I was entering the freeway in heavy traffic the visor fell down and was flopping in my face while I was traveling at approximately 70mph. I had the sun in my face, traffic beside me and had to use my left hand to catch the visor while avoiding a collision with a truck. The problem does not seem to be isolated to the Ram line of vehicles as we had the same problem with visor failure on my wife's 2023 Jeep Wagoner (vin [XXX] ). The bracket that holds the visor in place has a "push in tab/fitting" made of inferior material that is only about 1/8" thick and needs to be redesigned. I have attached photos of the failed part. In addition, the “Service Power Steering” warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled in the middle of a busy roadway. The contact stated that her small children were occupants of the vehicle during the failure. The contact was able to get the vehicle over to the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The contact referenced a recall with a similar failure; however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 109,857.

Power steering light continually goes on and off. Took it to dealership and they said they’ve had many many new models of this Ram come in with the same problem. They quoted me for a gear rack saying it’s some kind of defect and the whole thing would need replaced (2,000$ +). I’ve looked through forums and countless drivers have reported the same issue. I’ve had this truck for just over 100,000 miles, with regular maintenance to every aspect of it. I don’t feel we should be responsible for a fault of the manufacturer. Please help!

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

When fueling, gas pump kicks off due to pressure build up inside of tank/filler neck. Gas has spilled out on vehicle from filler neck when this has happened. Have to constantly hold gas nozzle in a very slow trickle to be able to fuel truck. Sensor is not serviceable due to being inside gas tank. Has been an ongoing issue since first starting with no remedy from dealerships.
Jan 13, 2026
Entered vehicle and notice strong smell of gasoline, driving my young kids to daycare and preschool they complained of the smell and we had to lower windows. Upon dropping them off, went to mechanic who confirmed it was a fuel system issue, fixed a valve. Following few days the truck has issues starting and is stalling and jerking at lights. I return to the mechanic who advises it is the same issue and relates to the fuel pump system failing and they have ordered the part that is on a 45 day backlog. Problem persists and make my trucks unsafe to drive and I am unable to drive it. I have spoken with RAM who advised my truck model is not included in the recall AND is freshly out of warranty. This is extremely frustrating I have to spend thousands to replace this and am unable to drive my truck for approximately 2 months IF the part arrives on time.

Oct 29, 2025
While refueling my 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie with the large (33 gal) fuel tank, the fuel pump "vacuum-assisted automatic shutoff" or "nozzle shutoff mechanism" is triggered dozens of times prior to the tank actually reaching a full level. I have been experiencing this issue consistently for the past year and it has occurred, to the same degree, at each of the fill-ups conducted at a variety of gas stations during this time. I've had an independent service center diagnose the issue and they recommended I take it to a dealer for service and also report the issue because this has been a common issue they have seen. Other Ram 1500 owners on internet forums also report having had this issue. The safety issue is that gas may become trapped in a fuel system component where it shouldn't be collecting which exposes vehicle occupants to an increased risk of fire in the event of an accident. Furthermore, this condition makes it nearly impossible to know when the fuel tank is full because the shutoff mechanism is triggered many times prior to full. This results in over-filling the tank and possibly having fuel remain in the filler neck, which also unnecessarily increases the risk to vehicle occupants to fire or explosion if involved in an accident. Vehicle owner manuals and gas station pump warning stickers typically warn operators of the dangers of over-filling or "topping off" fuel tanks specifically for this reason. With the system not operating correctly, the risk of overfilling is severe and unsafe.

I had just started my vehicle and drove about 3 blocks and was running 40 miles per hour when the truck sounded like it was revving up and it went into neutral and slowed down. It was scary because I had small children with me and it happened at an intersection.

Have a whirring, whining noise and at my Feb 2025 service, was told it was the e-torque assembly bearing and it was loose. Part is on back order for months since this is a common issue and will cost over $1400 for part alone. Was told not covered under warranty but believe that the dealership is wrong BUT am reading it was recalled in the 2021 RAM 1500 but I am having same issue with my 2020 and I am reading I am not alone.

The motor generator has effected the ess (engine start stop) system and at a stop it does not restart the vehicle when you let off the brake. It startes and then jumps forward creating a safety hazard if there is a vehicle in front of you or a pedestrian in the crosswalk. This is a concern that seems to happen with this system frequently through web searches that I have seen. My truck is at a dealer now to diagnose the problem with the system.

After hearing a grinding noise coming from the engine, I took the vehicle (2020 RAM 1500 w/5.7L eTorque) to the dealer. It's been waiting for a replacement MGU (Motor Generator Unit) for over 3 weeks but I'm told it might take months to get a replacement part. Fortunately, I discovered this before having a breakdown on a busy highway or up in the mountains. Had that occured, I most certainly would have lost the ability to steer the truck and braking would have been diminished. I'm hoping this manufacturing defect is elevated to safety recall status in the hope of preventing future loss of life.

The tensioner pulley seized up causing the serpentine belt to break and taking the MGU E Torque Alternator out. We have learned that there are no MGU parts available and we are one of 4000 waiting with no ETA available. You can’t buy a used one as they can not be reprogrammed to a different truck.
Oct 10, 2025
I purchased a brand new 2020 Ram 1500 with 5.7-liter hemi ETORQUE engine in 2020. The vehicle had been making a squealing noise since before 40k miles. Dealership was unable to identify issue on numerous occasions. On 4/8/2024, with vehicle mileage at 74k miles, the noise worsened to a point where the vehicle was not drivable. They identified the "Alternator" (MGU) to the etorque needed to be replaced. The part was on back order and did not arrive until 6/24/2025. At which the dealership replaced the part and expedited the return of the vehicle without proper assurance that the replaced part, fixed the vehicles problem. Less than 375 miles later, a system battery saver came up on the dash. Turning off all electronics in the vehicle including but not limited to A/C and radio. Temps were more than 100 at this time. Within less than 550 miles, the vehicle lost all power and shut off while in the middle of an interstate. I lost my power steering and luckily was able to move onto a narrow shoulder but was left in a very dangerous situation with my family on the side of a high-speed interstate, awaiting a tow truck for hours, without rear end protection. There were a lot of close calls and no urgency from RamCare Stellantis. I was told that the vehicle can only be seen by a certified ram technician. The only certified Ram Dealership that was willing to help was more than 30 minutes away, where the vehicle still sits today. Now the vehicle has been at a dealership since that break down on 7/3/2025. Awaiting another back ordered part, with no estimated eta. This time it is awaiting a 48V Power Pack, related to 8yr/80k mile warranty. I am having to pay out of pocket for a rental, while still paying on a car loan and insurance on a vehicle I have not been able to use since April. Customer service has been horrific handling my case. Leaving myself with no certainty that I will ever see my vehicle again or if the long awaited back ordered part will in fact fix the issue.

2020 RAM 1500 with a bad MGU (Motor-Generator Unit). Dealer says they have 2 trucks already waiting on the same part since January. There is a massive backlog and Chrysler is not offering anything on when this will be available. It's on an "engineering hold". It will eventually fail in these trucks and render them inoperable. Waiting 8-9 months for a part should never be an option in any scenario. This is also covered under the Federal Emissions Warranty.

To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this email to document a vehicle safety issue involving my 2020 Ram 1500 (5.7L eTorque). In November 2025, the vehicle experienced a failure of the eTorque motorized alternator / belt starter generator system, resulting in a loss of the electrical and charging system. As a result, the vehicle became non-drivable. The vehicle was delivered to an authorized Ram dealership on November 18, 2025, and has remained there continuously. The manufacturer (MOPAR / Stellantis) has confirmed the failure is warranty-covered, but has advised that the required part is on indefinite backorder with no firm ETA. As of the date of this email, the vehicle has been out of service for over 60 days and cannot be safely operated. This issue appears to be widely reported nationwide (I was told by Landers Dodge in Norman, OK that the part is on backorder, and that there are currently 4,678 on Back Order. They also said that they’ve had a RAM there since last Oct. 2025 (this was on 12/12/2025 at 12pm) among vehicles equipped with the eTorque system, indicating a potential systemic defect affecting vehicle operability and safety. I am submitting this email in addition to my formal NHTSA complaint to ensure the issue is fully documented. Thank you for your attention. My 2020 Ram 1500 etorque had a major breakdown. My husband was driving down the highway in a construction zone when he lost power steering, power brakes and then the vehicle totally shut down. He had to steer it to the side of the highway, barely making it. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership who ran diagnostics on it and told us the Mechanical Generator Unit (MGU) needed to be replaced. The major issue: the MGU could not be found anywhere in the US. They wasn't able to order / backorder from anywhere. They said it could take months or longer to get the part. We couldn't go indefinitely without our truck so the dealer recommended we trade it in. That was our only option so that was what we were forced to do. We did not want another vehicle!! Ours was paid off.

RAM has a bad design on MGU's, new ones and old ones are failing, whining, causing engine spudder and no movement at times. Can't purchase one because RAM has them on "Engineering HOLD". Therefore they no they have an issue, not offer a replacement. I have been advised if they become available I'm looking at $2,000 for an alternator. That is insane.

I am writing to report a serious and dangerous issue with my 2020 Ram 1500. The vehicle has been randomly shutting off while I am driving, often accompanied by a strange acceleration or revving sound just before the engine dies. This has occurred multiple times without warning, creating an extremely unsafe driving situation. The issue happens at random and cannot be easily reproduced on demand, which I understand may make it difficult to diagnose. However, it is important to emphasize that this is a major safety risk that could easily result in a crash or injury.

The drivers back seat seatbelt failed. My daughter and I were driving, and I had to stop suddenly, her car seat had been secured with the seatbelt and the seatbelt unlatched and sent her car seat flying through the cab of the truck.

While driving my 2020 Ram Rebel, the driver side seat belt locked up and will no longer retract. I took the vehicle into the Larry H. Miller Chrysler dodge dealership and they attempted to fix it but they were not successful. My truck only has 58,809 miles on it and they stated that it was no longer under warranty and that I would have to pay to replace it (roughly $750). Prior to the seatbelt locking, there were no indications that something was wrong. I believe not having a seatbelt that works properly puts myself or anyone else that would drive my vehicle at great risk if there was an accident.

The plastic seatbelt bracket over the right shoulder for the middle seat in the second row of the truck constantly breaks. I have had it replaced multiple times and it breaks immediately. This causes the seatbelt to be loose and fall into the crack between the seats. The seatbelt would malfunction and cause significant harm in an accident:

My 2020 Ram 1500 exhaust manifold leak often causes a loud ticking noise, especially on startup, due to broken bolts or a cracked manifold.

I noticed an oil leak under the truck a few weeks after getting the oil changed at the dealership. I took it back and had them investigate. They advised me I needed to replace the oil filter housing assembly, to the tune of $1,000. As I did research i found d this this is a widespread common problem and is known. Faulty design of a plastic part. For this to be such a common issue and poor design (that could cause catastrophic engone failure resulting in accidents or fires) and not to be recalled and or covered is insane. It's such a known issue that aftermarket parts makers have made a version that is all aluminum to prevent the issue. RAM should be paying for the repair, not me.

I have a 2020 Dodge Ram that has 75,000 miles on it. It has already broke down requiring a new transmission ( Jan of 2023 at 61,349 miles) and on [XXX] at 83,000 miles I, again, broke down and found it to be a valve spring. I have inquired as to the frequency of these occurrences in other Rams and a was told neither one of these occurrences should have happened. I jumped the hoops of the warranty and have put out almost $1,000 for the warranty company to "inspect" the engine, valve spring & tranny items that I should not have had to deal with in the first place. At first, the warranty company was willing to discuss possible retribution of some sort given the rarity of the break downs that occurred. I had a caseworker and now I cannot get anyone on the phone to even discuss this with any longer. Always being told "In a meeting", "Not available". With my last call being today and told SOMEONE was going to call. I have received emails noting "it is being investigated" and also told someone would reach out. NOW I have developed anxiety over this truck as, I travel. I'm terrified that I will be stuck in the middle of no where in the middle of the night. Both occurrences happened at night while alone! I am a [XXX]! Perhaps that's why ? I have been without a vehicle since that time and even the auto repair place had a very hard time in getting warranty company to pay. Truck is home now but now Im afraid to drive it anywhere. This was my dream truck and Im heartbroken at the total disrespect that has occurred for my safety and for anyone else who has had to go through this - I do have invoices but it wouldn't let me download them. I can send them via email. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My vehicle is a 2020 Ram/1500 BIG HORN/LONESTAR (with 5.7L HEMI - V8) My VIN is - [XXX] The Engine system failed/malfunctioned while driving on the highway. (It is currently available for inspection upon request.) I will however be taking the vehicle in for an engine rebuild and reinstall on or around May 30th, 2023. My safety and the safety of others was put great risk when my engine sputtered and vehicle rapidly slowed down on the freeway, during rush hour traffic; nearly causing rear end collision. Check Engine warning lamp came on and started flashing at the time of the failure, this was first time it happened. My vehicle was diagnosed from a mechanic/technician at Milosch's Palace Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Lake Orion, Michigan. The technician said that the engine failed due to issue with Cylinder #7 and will need to be replaced - at a cost of nearly $11,000. I did find a licensed repair facility that will do a complete engine removal, overhaul and rebuild including a 24 Month Warranty. According to the gentleman at the repair facility, this is a common issue, and they are on working rotation, repairing 12-15 HEMI Engines at any time due to this common failure. 5.7L HEMI Valve Train issues have been documented over and over; this is a known issue for many years. There have been several cases where HEMI engine owners have filed lawsuits against automobile manufacturer, alleging defects or performance issues with their engines. In some cases, these lawsuits have been successful in securing damages for the owners. I could provide you with some general examples. This occurred twice under normal operating conditions. Started to proceed when light turned green RPMs went to 6000 and the gas pedal became mush no power, had to put truck back in neutral and then drive. That fixed the problem. This also occurred why driving on highway at 70MPH,applied gas and the RPMS went to 6000 pedal became mush basically lost power then put in neutral then drive again and the problem was fixed.

OUR ISSUES WITH OUR 2020 DODGE RAM STARTED ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 15TH. AFTER ARRIVING HOME, I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND ENTERED MY HOME AROUND 6:45 PM(WITNESSED ON VIDEO); AT 7:45 PM I WENT OUTSIDE TO GET SOMETHING I HAD FORGOTTEN IN THE TRUCK AND NOTICED IT AT THE BOTTOM OF OUR DRIVEWAY (ON RING VIDEO). I WENT INSIDE TO GET MY HUSBAND WHO CAME OUT AND PULLED IT BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND ENGAGED THE PARKING BRAKE.WE LEFT HOME THE NEXT DAY AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED TO "CHUG" AS WE SLOWED DOWN AND TOOK A LEFT TURN. WE CALLED OUR DEALERSHIP AND WERE URGED TO BRING IN THE TRUCK THAT DAY AS THEY STATED THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. UPON ARRIVING HOME TO UNLOAD EVERYTHING BEFORE HEADING IN, WE PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK. MY HUSBAND AND I EXITED THE VEHICLE (OUR CHILDREN WERE IN THE BACK SEAT) WHEN AT 1:27 PM IT STARTED TO ROLL BACK DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY. AFRAID FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR KIDS, MY HUSBAND QUICKLY JUMPED BACK IN AND APPLIED THE BRAKE MANUALLY. EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK WAS IN PARK, IF HE TOOK HIS FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE, IT WOULD CONTINUE TO ROLL. ONTUESDAY, JANUARY 19TH, A SERVICE MAN ASKED FOR MY HUSBAND TO COME IN AND DISCUSS THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE VIDEO WE SENT IN (RING VIDEO)) AND DO A TEST DRIVE WITH A TECHNICIAN. DURING THE TEST DRIVE THE TECHNICIAN DROVE THE TRUCK AND EXPERIENCED NO ISSUES, AT THIS POINT HE ASKED MY HUSBAND TO SWITCH SEATS AND DRIVE INSTEAD. ON LEVEL GROUND, THE TRUCK WAS PUT IN PARK, THE TECH ASKED HIM TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE AND THEN PUT IT INTO GEAR WITHOUT DISENGAGING THE PARKING BRAKE AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO ROLL FORWARD. ADDITIONALLY, HE HAD HIM DO THE SAME PROCESS IN REVERSE AND HAD THE SAME RESULTS WITH THE TRUCK ROLLING BACKWARDS. AT THIS POINT, THE TECHNICIAN SHARED THE SAFETY CONCERNS FOR OUR FAMILY AND WANTED TO RUN MORE TESTS SINCE THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SAME ISSUE AS THE VIDEO WE HAD SENT IN ON FLAT GROUND.

A RAPID SECOND OR THIRD BRAKE APPLICATION BRINGS BRAKE PEDAL UP TO NORMAL LEVEL, 1-2 INCHES HIGHER THAN INITIAL APPLICATION RESULTING IN NORMAL BRAKING PERFORMANCE. THE ISSUE FEELS LIKE OLD STYLE REAR DRUM BRAKES THAT NEED TO BE ADJUSTED BUT THIS TRUCK HAS MODERN 4-WHEEL DISC BRAKES. THE PEDAL HEIGHT TO FIRM SOLID PEDAL CAN BE EXPERIENCED PARKED OR IN MOTION. THE REDUCED BRAKING PERFORMANCE IS A HIGH RISK TO SAFELY DRIVING THE VEHICLE.

The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, there was a dip in the road and the upper ball joint came out of the socket and the tire was pushed under the vehicle. The vehicle slid approximately 100 ft and came to a stop. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake line, both control arms, and the trans axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was then towed to another dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the brake line, lower control arm, and the trans axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.

The bags or compressor failed. Dealer could not diagnose which is a common problem. They just change parts and charge you until it’s corrected. The contact owns a 2020 Ram 1500. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the air ride suspension system malfunctioned, causing the frame of the vehicle to be lowered. The contact stated that the failure sometimes occurred on one suspension, and at other times on all the four suspensions. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. After retrieving the vehicle, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 300. The contact stated that they have taken their vehicle to the dealership several times in an attempt to get it repaired but with no luck. The issue seems to be weather related since the most failures were reported when it was cold out.

I was driving back from Montana and my passenger side sun visor disconnected and was hanging from the wire causing a visibility issue when driving. Approximately 1 year ago the same thing happened to my driver side sun visor. This also caused problems with visibility while driving because it wouldn't remain in the locked position. It would hang by the wires. Both times I had the visor replaced at the Dodge dealership in Prescott Az. I was told my the service advisor that it has been a problem and they have had to replace quite a few. I asked if they have fixed the problem and he stated that it hasn't and its still the original parts. This is going to lead to a serious car accident or death if this problem isn't resolved by Dodge.
Jun 17, 2024
The drivers-side Sunvisor keeps falling down randomly and dangles in way of line of sight to the road. It will not stay up. The safety issue is while driving in heavy traffic in Houston, TX the visor fell down obstructing my view and I almost crashed trying to keep the Visor Up with one hand and avoiding cars changing lanes. I did take my truck to the dealer and they told me it would cost $180 just to look at and then they would tell how much it would cost to fix. I feel this should be a Safety Matter and corrected free of charge. I looked on the internet and it seems there are a lot of problems with this same issue. There were not any warning lights before or after the visor would obstruck my vision.
Aug 14, 2023
The passenger side visor constantly disengages from the ceiling and falls down blocking the view of the driver. The issue requires taking both hands and shoving the visor back into the ceiling. This happened so often that now the visor won't engage back into the ceiling and the wiring for the mirror light has also broken.

Air is blowing out of Defrost on all settings. This is a safety hazard in the summer as when it is high humidity outside and the A/C is set to blow out of front facing vents only the air still blows out of Defrost and causes the window to fog up and obstructs the view out of the front window. Also during the winter when defrost only made is set the same amount of air is now blowing out at my feet. The main safety concern is during the summer for the obstructed view out of the front window. Had this looked at during routine service and dealership said this is a known issue and they have no way to fix it at this time from RAM.
Nov 07, 2022
The visor on the driver’s side has had a component fail which causes the visor to fall down and block the driver’s vision. This is a significant safety hazard as it blocks the driver’s view and it takes two hands to push the visor back up so that it is not blocking the driver’s view. The dealer has inspected the vehicle and determined the part is not working properly and has agreed to a warranty repair. However, the part has not been available for four months. Internet reports suggests this is a widespread problem with the Dodge Ram. Having a malfunctioning component that causes the visor to block the driver’s view poses a significant risk that a driver could be in an accident because he or she cannot see the road ahead and cannot clear the field of view without taking both hands off the steering wheel. This is an ongoing risk for Dodge vehicles so long as Dodge does not produce adequate parts to repair the malfunctioning piece.

On Thursday, January 8, 2026, I was operating my vehicle when an oncoming single vehicle traveling in the opposite direction entered a curve at an excessive speed, lost control, and crossed into my lane. I attempted to steer away to avoid the collision; however, the oncoming vehicle struck my vehicle along the driver’s side. The collision caused significant damage to the driver's side and resulted in a failure of the passenger-side rear wheel/tire assembly, complete detachment of the tire from the vehicle. During the collision, none of my vehicle’s airbags deployed, despite the side-impact nature of the crash and the force of the collision. 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The airbag restraint system failed to deploy during a significant collision involving the driver. The vehicle and airbag system remain intact and are available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The lack of airbag deployment during a driver-side impact increased the risk of injury to me as the vehicle operator. Airbags are designed to provide supplemental protection in collisions of this type, and the absence of deployment reduced occupant protection. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No diagnostic inspection or reproduction testing has yet been performed. Evaluation by a dealer or manufacturer representative is pending. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? Police responded to the accident scene. The incident has been reported to insurance representatives. Manufacturer inspection has not yet occurred, but the vehicle remains available for review. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lights, dashboard messages, or other symptoms related to the airbag

Truck was responding perfectly fine until we stop to watch a movie at the theater last night. After the movie I turn on the truck and notice my power steering was not working and everything else on my truck works fine.
Apr 08, 2025
There is a high whining noise followed by a loss of power steering. There is a recall for the EPs system that stopped in 2019; however, 2020 is still using the same part. The recall should be extended to cover all vehicles manufactured using the part numbers associated with this issue. My truck is only at 50k miles, never off-roaded or abused, and maintained religiously by my personal mechanic. I was driving at 78 mph, and the steering locked up due to this issue. This created a hazardous scenario for me. The wheel released moments later, causing me to overcorrect and almost hit another car traveling on the highway in the adjacent lane. This has happened several times over the past week. I have adjusted my driving style until I can afford this VERY costly repair.

I am reporting a suspected safety defect involving the Motor Generator Unit (MGU) used in the eTorque system on my Ram 1500. The vehicle experienced an MGU failure that resulted in abnormal electrical behavior, warning messages, and impaired drivability. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized Ram dealership, which confirmed the MGU has failed and requires replacement. The MGU is currently on national backorder with no estimated availability date. As a result, the vehicle is inoperable or unsafe to operate and cannot be repaired in a reasonable timeframe. Why this is a safety concern: The MGU is critical to the vehicle’s starting, charging, and powertrain functions. Failure of this component presents safety risks including loss of propulsion, potential stalling or failure to restart, electrical system instability, and vehicle immobilization in traffic or unsafe locations. The extended inability to obtain replacement MGUs significantly increases these risks. Additional information: Based on dealer communications and publicly available owner reports, similar MGU failures and extended backorders appear to affect multiple Ram 1500 eTorque vehicles, indicating this may not be an isolated incident. Dealer/manufacturer actions: The dealer confirmed the failure and ordered the replacement MGU. No repair timeline or permanent remedy has been provided. Request: I am requesting that NHTSA review this issue to determine whether MGU failures in Ram 1500 eTorque vehicles constitute a safety-related defect requiring investigation and potential recall action.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Turn signal indicator has malfunctioned. When the left turn signal indicator is set, it will not reset after making a full left turn (90 degree). Also the left turn signal will not stop after putting the turn signal lever back into the middle position. The only way to disable to turn signal is to put the turn signal lever into the right turn indicator position and in this position the right turn indicator no longer works. After making a right hand turn the turn indicator lever will reset and make the left blinker come on automatically and stay on. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Being unable use my turn signal correctly has caused people to almost crash into me. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I have not scheduled the vehicle for service with the dealer because its not covered under warranty or recall. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning or check engine lights.

I purchased a new Dodge Ram 1550 Big Horn in July of 2020. To date I have only 21,000 miles on this vehicle. In January of 2023, at the 12,555 mile mark, they had to install a new fuel delivery line and fuel tank because I was unable to fill the tank. This was due to the rollover valve molded into the top of the tank malfunctioning and sticking. 25 months and 9,000 more miles later, I am once again battling this same issue. Dodge states there is no recall on this item, yet there are thousands of online posts with people screaming "why is there no recall". This is costing us as consumers thousands of dollars in unrealistic repairs. I'm unsure if this is the correct venue to vent this, but can anyone help?

There is an issue with the turn signal and apparently all models 2021-beyond have this recall. The right turn signal will not turn on at all, and the left is always on when in neutral. This issue has come and gone but it’s been the case for the last few weeks again.

UNKNOWN GOT IN THE TRUCK, started it and it idled for about one minute, then every single light or electronic started flashing, with the pace of the hazard lights, which the hazard lights stayed on, no matter how many times I pushed the hazard buttons, and the horn was blowing lightly also, about 2 minutes of this , I turned the truck off, came out the next day and it was completely dead, no electricity at all! Charged battery( which is new by the way) and it fired right up! But now it’s extremely sluggish, missing and jerking, the electronics in these are garbage! Looks great but who wants something that is advertised Wi-Fi available!! Ha not on the 2020 models!!! I’ve got the big screen! Call att, they say there’s an issue with ram, so I’m not happy! And this the only vehicle I have to transport my family

On Monday, October 10, 2023, I started my truck in the morning when the temperature was 60-65 degrees. The truck turned the rear defroster on and after 10 minutes I put my two boys in the backseat and smelt a burning smell. There was nothing smoking, so I told myself I would look at it once I got back from dropping them off. I pulled out of my driveway and within a minute my back window shattered above my 3 month old. I took it to the Dodge/Ram dealership and they said based on their inspection the third brake light was leaking and water got into/on the window and when the rear defroster turned on it shattered the window. They said it is not covered under warranty even though the main cause was a manufacture defect with the the third brake light leaking water into the vehicle. So this repair is going to cost me $1,500 because of the leak. This is a major safety violation with windows breaking above kids or people in the back seat and electrical getting wet because of the leak in the third break light.

My 2020 Ram 1500 truck's dash lights, instrument panel, and radio screen randomly flash bright then dark, over and over. It is very distracting and a potential safety hazard especially when driving at night as the flashing changes quickly by going from bright to dark and back and forth. This lighting or electrical issue is very distracting while driving. This occurs randomly while driving, while stopped, and while driving at different speeds. This issue typically occurs on a daily basis, and happens more often on some days than others. I took the truck into the dealer and they had my truck for a week, but could not determine or fix the problem. There are no vehicle error codes showing in the computer, and I have shown them several video recordings of the flashing lighting that has occurred. For as much as this vehicle costs, this should not happen, and when it does they should be able to fix it.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
5 complaints
Driving in moderate traffic, truck forward collision warning triggered and emergency braking engaged with no forward risk of collision. Traffic in front was accelerating, not decelerating and no risk of emergency collision existed. Incident did however nearly lead to collision from behind as brakes were slammed on fully to an emergency stop. Wife and I were both in the car and neither of us saw any reason whatsoever for the event to be triggered.

Driving 60 mph down the highway in North Dallas, no vehicles around me in close proximity, went under an overpass, the truck braked severely, no skid but a very abrupt slowing to 10-15 mph, if anyone was behind us, it would have caused a major wreck. Pulled over and turned off the front collision warning system until I could get it reported. The message it flashed on the dash was unknown object encountered. I have not taken it back to the dealer. No police were called because there was no accident, just very scary.

I have taken my vehicle to Ram dealer letting them know the Forward Collison Warning (i.e. 'BRAKE' to show in display and brake if I don't) is not working. Both time they said it was working and basically showed me the front sensors setting. I have tried to test this on the road and almost rear ended three cars: 1) speeding up when car in front is at a traffic light, 2) accelerating to 65 mph coming up on a slower car, 3) coming around a curve on a two lane highway with car coming in opposite direction. No warnings at all. My Honda Pilot shows the warnings in each of these cases. So I went back to the dearler and explained that on the Ram forum, https://www.ramforum.com/threads/anyone-else-with-a-fcw-forward-collision-warning-problem.142051/page-3#post-2623613, other drivers have noticed same thing. My RAM is a 2020. I saw where someone with a 2019 has same problem. Also showed the dealer the youtube video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SE3irp18ts, so they knew what I was talking about. They told me they don't have any way to test FC. I told them I didn't understand how the FCS is not working when the ACC is working perfectly. This was noted as well in the Ram forum. This needs to be fix immediately if it was discovered on 2019 vehicles: 1) before someone is badly injured because the FCS doesn't work, and 2) I paid for this safety feature and should have it.

RF hub has now failed 3 times in the last 10 months. The last time they replaced the third brake like and now I am having the same issue. Dealership is telling me it’s the back window and that they will not pay for the problem to be fixed. Safety at risk by vehicle breaking down with no transportation on the side of the road. Problem has been confirmed by dealership which led to first repair. No warning prior to failure.

Turn signal does not shut off regardless of the position of the turn signal switch. Appears to be an issue with the SSCM. The malfunction makes safe turning/lane-changing impossible. It has been confirmed by the dealership but has not been inspected. There was no forewarning prior to the malfunction and no indication besides the malfunction itself.

While trying to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle electrical system turned off the vehicle and turned back on. When turning back on, it flashed through a series of error messages. One time was while in stop and go traffic and I was able to coast onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle. A second incident was in the middle of a busy intersection. Having had this shut down before, I was able to quickly turn on my hazards and restart the truck to then clear the intersection safely. I have personally had Dodge look at the vehicle under my ownership (bought it used from a dealer). In speaking with the service advisor, he mentioned it had 13 error codes reported on the DTC from loss of communication with PCM. There were no warning signs prior to the two events I have experienced. I have scheduled to take it back to the dealership for examination. The first event I experienced was on 11/25/2023 with about 35,450 miles. The second event was on 12/15/23 with 36,100 miles. I am aware of the recall on this vehicle but the shortage of parts has not allowed Dodge to service it for the recall yet.

Engine shuts down on stop. Normal. But sometimes when I take my foot off the pedal, the starter grinds unusually long and when the engine does restart the vehicle lunges forward. As my foot is instinctively on the accelerator, this sometimes could cause a rear end collision with another vehicle. This scenario has twice caused the engine light to come on. No related codes detected by dealer. The issue did present itself during a test drive with a dealer mechanic. He reset the codes to out the light. No code or solution suggested.

Driving down the road, my auto start stop failure light appeared on dash, followed by a check engine light and a battery light. Tried to pull over on the side of the road when I lost all electrical components including power steering, ac, radio etc. the truck slammed itself into park abruptly and turned itself off. I was stranded on the side of the road and nearly got hit by passing cars several times as I was in a curve in the road. After further investigation it has been determined that the bearings inside of the generator (part number: 68623194AB) went out. The part needed to fix the truck is not being made by the supplier and I have been nearly 2 months and counting paying for a truck to sit and look pretty as the truck is completely unusable. One dealership told me this part was on back order for over Five thousand customers.

The 48V Belt Starter Generator failed on my 2020 Ram 1500 with the 5.7L eTorque system. It caused my truck to stall in the middle of a busy intersection at a red light. The battery drained fast, and I couldn’t move the truck out of the way. I was stuck in a dangerous spot cars were coming around a turn at 45–55 mph, and since my hazard lights started dying too, I had to get out in the rain and wave people away so they wouldn’t hit me. I was honestly afraid for my life. I ended up calling 911 and my insurance to get towed out of there. Before it happened, I saw a battery warning and something about the battery system. A mechanic and a dealer confirmed the issue was the 48V generator. I started calling around for the part, and every dealer I spoke with told me it’s on national backorder. One told me there were over 2,600 people already waiting for it, another said over 3,000 are on the list and no one has any idea when they’ll get them. There are a lot of people dealing with this, and it’s not just an inconvenience it’s dangerous. This part failing leaves people stranded in traffic, sometimes without power or lights. Something needs to be done. A recall would be the right thing.

Vehicle had a temporary shutoff when doing a rolling stop. The vehicle temporarily lost power when decelerating to the stop sign at 5-10 MPH, then starting again as I began to accelerate. Can not replicate problem again.

Operating the vehicle at 35mph on a standard city street in Tucson, Az - River Rd. The vehicle flashes a system failure warning and then shuts off all power to the truck. This results in the transmission being thrown back into park and the driver having zero control over the vehicle. There are multiple online reports of this being fairly common on 2020/2021 Dodge Rams. The vehicle is being returned to the dealer, even if it is a minor issue it is a huge safety issue. I had zero control over the vehicle once the warning flashed. The abrupt loss of power and being thrown into a skid with no control is terrifying. Luckily there was no traffic. It is being returned and according to the dealership it will be investigated. Prior to that brief safety warning the truck had operated perfectly fine with no issues all day long with over 200miles logged for the day.

Upon purchase brand new in 2020 with in a week a cylinder had to be replaced. Since then this truck has been in the shop for almost a year in total over the past 2.5 years. The recalled high pressure fuel pump went out at around 60k miles, this incident almost resulted in a major accident in the middle of the night as the power loss to the engine and brakes left me free rolling down the road into a stop light 4 way. When sent for repairs they had to replace the pump 6-7 times before they could give it back to me as well as the entire fuel system. The check engine light came on as I drive off and they had to replace the pump and other parts for the 8th time and kept it for another month. A couple months later the alternator went out and battery shorted on the freeway. And after that repair a few months later the alternator flooded with oil on the freeway in the middle of nowhere and the trucks dash lit up with electrical failure and check engine lights. This time the truck was repaired in 3 weeks and after 100 miles the engine blew completely on the freeway, I never made it home with the truck. They’ve had the truck at the dealership for 2 months the now and are quoting for a complete engine replacement at 72k miles on the eco diesel engine. This truck is a faulty piece of machinery and should not have ever been on the road. They can’t run the teuck for any testing as the engine will run away at max rpm when started.

I bought my 2020 Ram on 6/7/2021, driving it home that night the throttle body control sensor and the steering stabilizer sensor failed and came across my dashboard along with a check engine light, the truck started quickly acceleratingon its own, I had zero response from the gas pedal I could only use the brake. The next day it went back to the dealership to be fixed. They replaced the sensor in the gas pedal. I had to wait a few days to get it fixed. On 6/23 this problem happened again, the truck started rapidly accelerating on its own. The dealership towed it from my house to an authorized Ram dealer. I had to wait 2 weeks to get it back. I got it on 7/7. The dealership said that they did computer work to the truck but found no other issues, the sensor in the gas pedal was fine. Driving home from work last night 7/9 the dashboard lit up again and the truck started accelerating on its own for the 3rd time. I am now afraid to drive it.

THE TRUCK ACCELERATED SO HARD IT PINNED ME BACK TO THE SEAT. I FRANTICLY TRIED TO STOP THE TRUCK AND AT THE SAME TIME THE ANTI COLLISION KICKED IN AS WELL TO SLOW THE TRUCK. UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS NOT QUICK ENOUGH TO PREVENT FROM HITTING HE CAR IN FRONT. THE LOWER PORTION OF MY BUMPER HIT THE MID RARE OF THE OTHER VEHICLE AS THE TRUCK MUST HAVE BEEN RAISED FROM THE FORCE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT NIGHT AND FILED A CLAIM WITH FCA. THEY PULLED THE DATA FROM THE TRUCK AND DID AN ANALYSIS. YOU SIMPLY DO NOT ACCELERATE TO 100% BY ACCIDENT WHICH I THOUGHT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN INDICATED THAT SOMETHING EITHER KICKED IN AND MADE THE TRUCK ACCELERATE OR THE PEDAL JAMMED BUT SOMETHING. I AM ADAMANT THAT I DID NOT ACCIDENTLY ACCELERATE TO 100% BY ACCIDENT. I SPENT THE MONEY ON THIS TRUCK TO HAVE THE PIECE OF MIND THAT ME AND MY FAMILY ARE SAFE. I NO LONGER HAVE THAT COMFORT. 1. Safety Issue 1: Cracked Exhaust Manifold & Exhaust Leak Description: Loud knocking noise on startup, strong exhaust fumes entering cabin. Dealer Diagnosis: Both exhaust manifolds cracked, multiple broken bolts. Risk: Potential carbon monoxide poisoning, engine damage, and fire hazard. Dealer Response: Refused repair, quoted $3,500. No assistance from Chrysler. Pattern Failure: Online forums show many owners with identical issues—clearly a manufacturing defect. 2. Safety Issue 2: Dashboard Delamination & Toxic Fumes Description: Dashboard surface peeling, strong chemical odor in cabin. Risk: Toxic off-gassing causes headaches/nausea; peeling material obstructs visibility. Pattern Failure: Widespread reports for this model/year—faulty adhesive is to blame. Manufacturer Negligence: Chrysler and dealerships are aware but refuse responsibility, blaming "wear and tear." Exhaust leaks and toxic interiors are unacceptable safety hazards—yet no recall exists. Request to NHTSA: Investigate these defects for potential recall. Force Chrysler to acknowledge and repair affected vehicles. Urgency: Driving this vehicle is a health risk. NHTSA must act before more are harmed.

My truck has had two leaks in the rear window area. I have owned it for 3 years it has 30000 miles on it. The vehicle is in otherwise perfect condition with no damage and no accidents. The first time it required the rear window to be replaced. This time it is uncertain where the leak is coming from. This could cause damage to the electronics as well as the rear airbags. It appears like these leaks are common and Ram is aware of them, but the have not recalled the defective components and provided a new design that does not leak.

I HAVE OWNED MY 2020 RAM 1500 CREW CAB 4X4 FOR 8 MONTHS. THE PLASTIC FRAME THAT SURROUNDS THE REAR WINDOW GLASS HAS CRACKED AND CAUSED THE WINDOW TO LEAK. THIS OCCURS BOTH WHEN THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION OR IS PARKED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE WATER CAN SEEP INTO THE REAR AIRBAGS CAUSING THE AIRBAGS TO MALFUNCTION. ALSO WITH A CRACK IN THE REAR GLASS FRAME THE GLASS MAY EXPLODE CAUSING HARM TO THE BACK SEAT PASSENGERS.

2020 RAM 1500 with etorque. Truck 12v battery goes dead every 2-3 days. This was caused by a leak in the rear window allowing water to gather behind the rear seat resulting multiple issues including loss of control of navigation system, heater and radio. Dealer states water caused electrical shorts in canbus resulting in multiple system failures.

This incident happened to me yesterday afternoon around 3pm in Syracuse. The rear heated/slider window exploded when driving causing glass to shatter outward from the cabin. I pressed the breaks when I heard the explosion and was fortunate no one was in front because there was ice on the road. Shattered glass was propelled outward but no vehicles were behind me, i was doing 50 on a 55, weather conditions were not great: 20 degrees and snowing pretty bad. I called the a dealership in Syracuse and they said they don't provide warranty to glass and to call the insurance. The insurance referred me to a shop in Syracuse (Safelite). The shop took me in and covered the area with a plastic wrap and told me that the glass won't get in unit l 5 days due to glass shortage. They also said they had a Chevrolet Silverado and a Ford F150 with the same issue during this week. They mentioned that all of them had one thing in common; rear defrost/heated, motorized slider window. The shop suggest to only use the defrost for a short period of time. That if the rear defrost stays on a prolong time it could heat the glass to extreme temperatures causing this scenario. I was never briefed on this procedure nor does my user manual i dictate such thing. Upon checking online I noticed that this has happened a lot, not only the rear window but the sunroof as well (no defrost option). I worry about glass particles falling into body parts of the passengers or potential debris hitting other cars behind you . I have an appointment for Wednesday to get the rear window replaced in a Safelite shop in zip code area 20678 and have to pay a deductible of $250.00 for something that I was not negligence. I think these are manufacturing defects, nothing hit the glass and scared the heck out of me. I'm lucky I didn't collide with anyone when I slammed the breaks.

The rear driver-side wheel detached from the axle, resulting in an immediate loss of vehicle control. As a result, the truck left the roadway. The detached wheel landedapproximately 150 feet behind the vehicle, on the opposite side of the road from where the truck ultimately stopped. Insurance has not yet completed its inspection of the vehicle; however, the crack and damage to the wheel were observed at the scene by a volunteer firefighter, the responding officer, and the tow truck operator. Additionally, an independent witness reported that the truck appeared to abruptly lift off the roadway, as though something suddenly caused it to “go flying.” Due to the sudden nature of the incident, no warning lights illuminated prior to the loss of control. All airbags deployed during the incident. The tailgate was dislodged, and the driver’s side of the truck sustained severe damage, including significant damage to the axle. The vehicle is not operable. While insurance has indicated the truck will likely be deemed a total loss, the claim has not yet been finalized. Video documentation is available showing the location of the detached wheel relative to the truck’s final resting position.

Crash: 1
While traveling down C470 Eastbound my truck experienced some type of mechanical failure. While on the corner above the bridge for Wadsworth Avenue I felt a sudden loss of control with the truck pulling to the right side of the highway. I immediately took action to pull the truck off the highway while also wrestling for control of the steering to keep the truck from running into the barrier and off the bridge. I was able to bring the truck to a stop just following the bridge (About 100ft). Upon inspection I found the right front tire had folded under itself. It seemed that the upper control arm on the vehicle snapped, pulling out the drive shaft in the process and damaging items like the steering linkage, brakes, tire, brakeline, etc. Dealership diagnosis was: Found right front upper ball joint separated causing excessive damage to the front end components. Only additional work that has been done to the truck was by MOPAR with their 2 inch lift kit, certified by Fiat Chrysler and Mopar for this specific truck. Kit number 77072424 SUSP KIT-LIFT. Dealership did inspection of vehicle 2 days prior to incident with no issues found. I was not able to attach pictures and PDFs to this form

I took my 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiese to a Chrysler-Dodge-Ram dealership on 9/23/25 for the High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) safety recall. I was told a part had to be ordered to complete the recall and gave me a rental vehicle. After a few days I contacted the dealership about my repair. They said the wrong part was ordered and the new one was in route. After about a week, I called the dealership again and I was told "the truck won't start and they were working with Stellantis to figure out why." Several more days passed, I called again, they stated that after the new pump was installed and the truck was started it "blew a rod," but they had fixed it, test drove it, and it would be ready for pick up the next day. I picked up the truck on 10/16/25 and drove less than 50 miles (first trip home from the dealership.) While traveling at highway speed on interstate 77 at night, the truck suddenly lost all engine power, a “throttle” warning message appeared, I noticed a strong odor of burnt oil, and I was only able to get from the left passing lane across to the right truck lane, only getting 2 tires on the shoulder (see pic). The truck would not start again, it just made a click-click-click sound. I jumped out of the truck as there was a truck in that lane coming toward me and ran into the woods to escape. I and the truck were nearly struck by traffic. This was a life-threatening situation. Luckily, a Courtesy Patrol saw me and blocked the lane with road flares. Eventually the truck was towed (had to be dragged on to the flatbed). At that time I noticed engine oil was splashed all over the underside of truck. It was towed to the same dealership. This catastrophic failure occurred hours after I was told it was safe to drive. This incident placed my life and the lives of other motorists at extreme risk. A recall intended to improve safety appears to have introduced a new, severe safety hazard. The truck has been at the dealership since 10/17/25 and I have not been updated since.

When accelerating from a stop the truck loses power and fails to respond. The engine is working but the transmission fails to engage and the truck just coasts until all-of-a-sudden it jerks back into motion. The vehicle will also lunge forward when coming to a stop as if the transmission catches and decides to accelerate momentarily. This is a serious safety issue when pulling out into traffic and has almost caused me to be involved in two accidents.

Replaced the RFH Hub twice in this vehicle do to water damage. 1st time under warranty, the 2nd out of pocket. Noticed the second time they replaced the Backlit light seal under an extended warranty (XL1 Warranty) where the water came in from. Both repair receipts enclosed and a picture of another vehicle they were replacing the seal while picking up my repaired vehicle. Investigation revealed, they use to fix the back siding window seal which cost $1300, but they replaced the Backlit at $25, now I'm on the hook for $1081.71 and change. $936.71, for the repair, $144.00 for the tow, the same spot it was towed from the first time it happen. Both times it had rained heavily. Filed a reimbursement case with FCA, Case#93175918, they have yet to get back to me.

Installed trailer brake assist. When we shut the truck off, the brake lights came on and stayed on. Assured by B&B trailer of St Augustine, Fl that it was an issue with the truck and not the part. Other issues have come up- dash lights also come on when turned off, backup camera, remote start, rear defrost, cig lighter plug, rear speakers, and A/C stopped working. Took it to Daytona Dodge on 1/29/25 where they diagnosed the ABS module had failed. They did a system reset and everything was ok until we had to disconnect the battery again- had to install a switch on the battery so lights staying on doesn’t kill the battery. Was told they’d let us know when a new part came in- mid February. Called Ram HQ on 2/17- case # [XXX] and that was no help. Referenced recall 85B and she said it was for a 2d row seating issue and said no ETA on new parts being made. My truck was mfg 2/2020 so how the software update recall doesn’t apply makes no sense. Would it have prevented this, who knows. Then called the dealer up and spoke to Stephen, a svc mgr, who recommended buying a used one ( he said aftermarket but I don’t think there is such a thing) and they would put it in. Got one from eBay and went on [XXX]. After I sat there all morning, I was told they couldn’t override the Vin that’s already on a used part. I have tried calling and emailing the service management team for follow up since then with no response. This is an abomination of customer care and needs attention. I’m hoping these parts are coming soon and that people like me are reimbursed and compensated for time lost and diagnostic fees and parts and labor. Also hoping this recall is expanded/redone to include my truck as there’s no reason it shouldn’t. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Vehicle experiences intermittent but repeatable safety-related electrical failures affecting turn signals and blind spot monitoring. The left turn signal remains engaged after canceling and does not shut off unless the opposite turn signal is activated, causing incorrect signaling to other drivers. This occurs without driver input. At the same time, the Blind Spot Monitoring system intermittently displays a “Blind Spot System Unavailable” warning and disables the safety feature while driving, increasing the risk of unsafe lane changes. Vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by an authorized Ram/Stellantis dealer. Dealer verified the concern and documented fault code B2225-00 – Steering Column Module Internal Failure, confirming the steering column control module is malfunctioning internally and not posting correct left/right turn signal inputs. Wiring, grounds, power, and CAN bus communication were inspected and ruled out. Dealer also documented fault code B285F-15 – Blind Spot Warning Light Control Circuit Short to Battery/Open, tracing the blind spot failure to a shorted passenger-side mirror harness, confirmed through load testing and a wiggle test. No aftermarket electrical modifications are present. These failures affect federally required signaling and driver-assist safety systems and occur intermittently, making them unpredictable and hazardous. Vehicle has approximately 48,877 miles and is a 2020 Ram 1500. Concern is ongoing and unresolved without replacement of safety-critical components.

The windshield wipers started without being tuned on, the engine revved up an got very loud like an airplane engine. I turned off the vehicle. When the tow truck arrived, the truck would not start so he walked away to grab the pulley and the truck started on it's own. My biggest concern is that I lost the ability to steer while I was in motion. I was informed of a VB8 recall for power steering but told my vehicle didn't qualify. This is a serious concern! On June 26, 2025 there was heavy thunderstorms throughout our area. I was driving to my office to pick up an item and all of a sudden my dashboard lit up with numerous error messages. I turned the truck off and could not get it to start again. I had to have it towed to the dealership and they cleaned some electrical connectors and returned it to me. My wife picked it up and on the drive home the windshield wipers went off and she also had numerous error messages on the dashboard so we returned it to the dealership. They replaced some modules as they found rust and returned the truck to me. When I went to the dealership to pick it up the truck would not start. They then said there was some corrosion in the star connectors and some moisture behind the radio. They replaced parts and returned it back to me. Since then I have had the truck back and had three more electrical issues with the vehicle. The service technician does not know what the error is and is having trouble pinpointing the problem. Its an electrical issue that they can't figure out. Tomorrow I am returning my truck for the sixth time for the same issue. Additionally, the deformation extends over the passenger side airbag panel, raising serious concerns about whether the airbag can deploy correctly. So I am driving on the freeway 70mph and I get a message on my dash that says service shifter then every single light on the dash came on and started to make a beeping noise. I pulled over on the side of the freeway and then all the lights dissappear except check engine. I continued to drive to next exit and this time all lights came on again and truck appeared to be shutting off and turning back on while driving, steering wheel got hard to move all while all lights turning on, on dash. I have taken to shop 3 times first time they told me it was battery so I purchased battery and diagnostic fee for 600. Still continued to have issues even after replacing battery. Then they tell me they don't know what's causing this issue and the truck hasn't been fixed. I'll let the truck sit a few days and check engine light is gone and it will drive normal until the issues pops up again. I just don't know what to do about issue and have lost hope nobody seems to know what's causing thr issue. I have videos of this happening multiple times and I show to shops and they are just im awe and can't figure out what is happening. This happened to me yesterday 4/25/25 and while driving the truck started to show all lights on dash and immediately put itself into park while I was driving about 20 mph. Turned the truck off and started it back on again and got the service shifter message and drove home slowly and truck sat in driveway. I've taken in the truck multiple times and nobody seems to know what is causing the issue and I'm tired of spending money things they believe it to be. Today several service lights came on not limited to: Service 4wd, 4wd Trans Case overheat, stabilization system, and the traction control light came on along with the 4wd High light and both the 4wd High and 4wd Low indicator lights were all flashing. When parked the emergency parking brake was automatically set. (break) I have all the documentation from the first occurrence and an additional recall notice (Attached) of which states contact the dealer, whom said that it was not their responsibility. Then I contacted Stellantis recall office, and they said they would get back with me and never have and today most all the sensor faults flashed on the display. The truck locked in 4 high up until I parked it.

Power Distribution Center/Relay box failure. Contacts in box melted for ASD Relay. Incident occurred while driving on the highway at 65mph. Vehicle without warning had power loss in accelerator, and started downshifting gears. Dash immediately said “park and restart required.” Attempting to start engine, vehicle would crank/no start. After several attempts, vehicle restarted and resumed normal driving until “park and restart required” happened again. After vehicle shut down multiple times on highway, I was able to make it home and diagnose problem. I checked the fuses and relays on the PDC and found ASD relay intact with no burn or scorch marks on contacts. However, the socket is missing contacts within the pdc. I reproduced said problem by moving the ASD relay with vehicle running. There are no warning lamps, messages, or codes to show any kind of failure.

Steering Rack and Pinion - Began malfunctioning (noise, and vibration when turning) at less than 10,000 miles. I visited Ram Dealer several times between 10,000 - 34,000 miles and they stated they could not replicate the issue. I drove the vehicle with their technical and they agreed there was an issue. Finally they replaced the Steering System when it had about 34,000 miles. This is a potential safety issue. Drive Selector Switch - I have had 3 selector switches (move from Park to Drive, reverse, etc.) malfunction and require replace (started in side of standard warranty), they appear to be replacing faulty part with same part. Most recent repair in April 2024 only lasted about 150 miles before the device went bad again. This is a potential safety issue. Radio - My 12" radio has been replaced 3 times. At times it impacts the controls of the vehicle features, heating, air-conditioning, etc. Starting at less than 10,000 miles inside normal warranty. Water Leak - I have a rear cabin water leak...mold and mildew in car (39,000 miles). The dealer did an initial inspection and said it had a know issue...back window and/or brake light leaks and requires further evaluation. This is a health issue - due to mold and mildew.

The frame of the back window is cracking causing water to leak into the cab. After talking to the dealership they are saying this is happening with RAM Trucks that has not been recalled. He stated that the control module is located under the rear seat which is getting wet and causing problems to the trun signals, starting of the truck and lighting to malfunction which could cause an accident. There is also airbags located on the rear roof that could cause them not to go off. This repair is going to be between 2000 and 5000 bucks depending on the damage. I believe this should be a safety recall due to the chance of someone's life being lost.

November of 2022 I took my truck to the lithium dealership in Reno NV for an exhaust leak they reported back to me that they replaced the manifold passenger side. two weeks later exhaust leak returned they informed me that it was a lifter tick and there was no exhaust leak this was at 51,000 miles. The problem got worse I took it back to them twice with both times I'm telling me it was a lifter tick, but I could smell exhaust in the cab of the vehicle. Now that the truck is out of warranty it's 61,000 miles the exhaust leak got so bad I took it to a different dealership where they have found both exhaust manifolds were leaking and now that it's out of warranty the extended warranty has taken over. but with that said now I am without a car because the extended warranty does not cover loaner cars. the manifolds are both on national back order. the sad part about this is the lithium dealership said they replaced the exhaust manifold and they did not according to the Carson dodge dealership the manifolds were never changed. Apparently this is a known problem with these vehicles and the parts are on national back order. I just find it very disgusting that a dealership would kick the can down the road just so they didn't have to replace the exhaust manifolds or give me a rental car while my truck was sitting there so now I have my truck in the dealership with no ETA on when I'll get it back I'm having to rent a car on my own and still make a truck payments. Don't know if this is a common practice with Ram/Chrysler but this is a despicable way to do business. The second problem is the power steering assist stops working while I'm driving that is also at the dealership waiting for parts that are on national back order.

The BSM service notice triggered a shut down of all controls associated with front windows and climate control. The UConnect system shuts down completely and the climate system defaults to defrost with fans going to max and the heat turned up to Maximum temp. With front windows control disabled you are unable to lower or raise windows and with Uconnect shut off there is no way to turn off the heat. This takes place while driving. You are literally cooking inside the vehicle The BSM service light came on to indicate service needed on a sensor located in the tail light assembly. That notification triggered the electrical malfunctions of the other systems. After sitting for 12 hours the truck systems would reset. As soon as I started driving the same sequence of events would take place again. I repeated this every day for 4 days while waiting to turn this into a dealer for investigation and repair.

When I got to work, I put it in park . Took it out of park, and the truck started accelerating again on its own at a fast rate. Put it in park, put it in reverse, and the truck started accelerating fast again, in reverse, until I slammed on the brakes to stop the acceleration and put it into park . This is the second time. First time was few months ago, same issue. Dealer looked at it, couldn’t duplicate it, cleared the codes and said if it happens again they’ll have to call an engineer from Chrysler. TRUCK IS SUPPOSED TO BE EQUIPPED WITH TAILGATE AJAR WARNING LIGHT, IT IS IN MANUAL AND ON MY BUILD SHEET. DEALER TELLS ME THAT ITS NOT. SO THERE NOT PUTTING IN THE CORRECT EQUIPMENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS SINCE I HAD 2017 RAM THAT TAILGATE OPENED WHILE DRIVING BEFORE RECALL!! *TR

I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY AT 65MPH WHILE STEERING POWER SHUT OFF AND WARNING ON DASH CAME ON SAYING POWER STEERING WAS DISENGAGED. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY SHUT VEHICLE OFF CHECKED UNDER HOOD AND NOTHING. GOT BACK ON VEHICLE STARTED IT AND WARNING HAD GONE AWAY AND STEERING WAS OK. DROVE FOR ABOUT 10 MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE BATTERY. VEHICLE WAS IN SHOP FOR A DAY. THEY CALLED AND SAID PROBLEM WAS FIXED. I LEFT THE DEALER, DRIVE 40 MILES AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK. AND NOW THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE. POWER STEERING GOES OFF RANDOMLY. IM GLAD I DIDN'T HAVE MY FAMILY WITH ME. TRUCK IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL WITH NO POWER STEERING. I ALSO NOTICED WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALER THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD GO DIM AND THEN BACK TO NORMAL. *TR

THIS DEFECT HAS THE REAL PROBABILITY OF CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH MY VEHICLE AND ANOTHER VEHICLE. TAKING MY NEW TRUCK THROUGH A CAR WASH, I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AT THE START OF THE WASH. THE CAR WASH HAS ROLLERS THAT DRIVE THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL THROUGH THE CAR WASH. AT THE END, MY VEHICLE DASHBOARD INDICATES THAT I NEED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUSH THE START/STOP BUTTON ON THE DASH. AFTER DOING THIS, THE DASHBOARD THEN TELLS ME THAT I NEED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE. EACH TIME I DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE DRIVER'S REAR TIRE JUMPS OVER THE ROLLER PUSHING THE VEHICLE AND THE DISTANCE BETWEEN MY VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME CLOSES. MY RAM HAS THE LARGE MONITOR SCREEN, AND HAS THE ABILITY TO INSTALL APPS. WHAT IS NEEDED IS A "CAR WASH APP" THAT DISABLES THE REQUIREMENT TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE FOR THESE TWO PROCEDURES AS LONG AS THE VEHICLE WAS 1) ROLLING IN NEUTRAL; 2) HAS NOT TRAVELED MORE THAN X FEET (300); AND 3) HAS NOT TRAVELED FASTER THAN 4 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
