Crash: 1
FCA issued recall C4B notification at the end of 2024, with estimated parts availability in the 2nd quarter of 2025. It is now the 4th quarter of 2025 (almost a year later!) with no update on parts availability. Considering that malfunction of the braking system is a critical safety hazard, it is unacceptable that they have and continue to delay a timely resolution for those impacted.

The ABS module has not worked for over a year. To me this isn’t a timely response. What are my options?

I am filing this complaint regarding the unavailability of a critical safety component for my vehicle. Multiple dealers have informed me that the part is not available through the Mopar parts chain. However, the identical part is currently available for purchase by consumers through MoparGenuineParts.com (111 Bond Street, Westbury, NY 11590) at the following link: [XXX] ). One verified buyer even confirmed this discrepancy. As [XXX] wrote in his 5-star review dated 04/03/25: *"ABS PART – Fixed my problem just what I needed. Dealership said they could not get to because of part shortage??"* This highlights a troubling inconsistency: Mopar’s authorized dealer network is unable to supply parts that consumers can easily purchase online. It makes no sense that the official supply chain is cut off while direct-to-consumer sales remain active. The component in question is critical to the safe operation of the vehicle. If it fails at high speed, the driver could experience sudden loss of braking or steering control. Such a failure poses an imminent danger of severe accidents, rollovers, or fatalities, both to the vehicle occupants and to others on the roadway. My concern is twofold: (1) why Mopar dealers cannot access parts that clearly exist in Mopar’s system, and (2) how long-term safety is being compromised if consumers must resort to inconsistent third-party availability for essential components. This disconnect directly threatens public safety. I respectfully request NHTSA investigate why Mopar’s dealer network is unable to provide critical safety components, while consumers can obtain the exact same part online, and whether this practice constitutes a systemic safety hazard that warrants recall, investigation, or enforcement action. Driving on highway back right side wheel studs broke off, wheel separated from vehicle.
Nov 17, 2022
5 of the 8 wheel studs on the left rear tire suddenly sheared off while my husband was driving the vehicle. This occurred without warning and with no provoking event - just driving normally. My husband was able to safely pull over and was not hurt but it could have potentially caused a crash and/or serious bodily harm to him or others on the roadway. I contacted the dealer knowing that a recall had been issued for similar year trucks (we received a recall for this on our Ram 4500) and they rudely told me that there was not a recall on this truck and they would not fix it. I do have a picture and the shears were all fresh suggesting that it occurred all at once. The dealer will not look at it for 30 days so we are making other arrangements to have the repair done but I worry about the other tires. If there are multiple year recalls in RAM trucks of varying models for the same thing that would suggest that this event has occurred from a similar manufacturing defect. Dodge needs to take responsibility and offer a solution before someone else is hurt or killed. I don't care about the money. I care about the lives of the people driving RAM trucks and the manufacturer says it is not on them.

On two separate occasions I had total brake loss , the truck has under 21,000 miles on it and while driving and trying to stop I have total brake loss , today I almost rear end a car due to the failure, luckily for them I have relatively good reflexes and I don’t panic , if either of those were not true I possibly could of killed the two occupants of the car in front of me , I was traveling approximately 70 miles an hour on the interstate had had to apply my brakes. When I did I had absolutely no brakes at all, no idiot lights or anything warning me of the problem, this was the second time this occurred , the first time I was on my way home at night and went to stop at a stop sign at an intersection and again total brake loss , both these times I limped home , hoping I would make it home safely. This needs to be investigated before some dies

I've been waiting for replacement parts for Technical Service Bulletin S2005000004 for over 8 months. It's my understanding from the dealer I visited that I could have a complete failure of electronics and/or brakes. Many warning lights and warning messages are displayed on the dashboard. Dodge has not issued a recall. I've been towing an 18,000lb RV around the country off and on for a number of years and was never made aware of this danger.

Recently I was informed about a possible engine failure involving a "Grid Heater Bolt". Upon my query, I learned the following: The RAM grid heater bolt failure can lead to serious engine damage. Here are some key points: 1. The grid heater nut can melt and fall off inside the intake plenum, often due to the grid heater relay sticking "on". Or fall off due to vibration. 2. A bolt in the 2007-2023 RAM 6.7L intake air heater can cause severe engine damage, and a warning code (P2609) may indicate this issue. 3. The grid heater bolt/nut can wear from heat or vibration, potentially dropping into the cylinder and destroying the engine. The risk related to this can be minor to catastrophic. Any potential engine failure during operation could cause damage, fire, injury or death. Upon researching this issue, I found the Internet full of warnings, but yet since 2007 to 2023 no factory solution or recall has been made. A recall has been made for simuliar issue. See attached. As a preventive measure, I am replacing mine with a aftermarket device. Something Ram or Cummins engine should have done since 2007. I have not been in a collision or a engine failure. But I am sure since 2007, someone has. There are two or three aftermarket repairs that the manufacturer should have resolved.

P2609 check engine code for a component in the diesel fuel intake chamber. The relay failed, melted a bolt and attached nut that fell into the intake manifold. The part then traveled into piston cylinder destroying the valves and the engine. The truck then is powerless on the roadway. This is a known issue for all Ram diesel’s manufactured 2007-2024. This should be a major recall and Ram has done nothing for vehicles out of warranty. Please help.
Feb 26, 2025
on Cummins Diesel Engine installed on this vehicle, On the Intake Air Heater assembly, there is a nut/bolt that has voltage applied to it to heat incoming air, this bolt/nut can melt and then eventually drop into #6 cylinder which will damage engine and possibly freeze/stop engine while driving thereby creates a safety hazard while driving. In my case engine warning light came on before the bolt dropped into cylinder and was repaired before damage occurred. Also see the following Utube link for video on issue. [XXX] Dodge Ram needs to recall these vehicles to check and repair this, also to redesign it so that it can't happen INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Potential Grid Heater defect that can cause major engine failure and/or fire. The bolt connecting the Heater Grid to the intake plenum can heat up and break off, fall into the intake, and get pulled into a cylinder causing major damage.

STEERING
11 complaints
The truck had a recall done on its steering system. The steering part affected is the drag link. The drag link connects to the steering wheel to the tie rod . The recall fix was to weld the drag link jam nuts so they wouldn't come loose and cause a steering loss. Since the recall the vehicle s drag link can't be aligned correctly with the tie rod the drag link is attached to the steering wheel so when the truck is aligned it backs one side out to far to keep the steering wheel straight. This drag link that was recalled is a (safety issue) it's a bad design and causes the vehicle to sway all over the road and if it fails the truck looses all steering and goes where ever it wants to go Wich will cause a horrible accident and harm innocent family's on the highway including my own family it can lead to the death of people in my vehicle and around my vehicle it's a serious safety issue and a horrible recall fix on rams end. I have a appointment at the ram dealership to get new tires on but I don't want the new tires put on until this issue is fixed as the truck needs alignment and this safety issue aka the welded drag link replaced with the correct fix that the new rams have the new style drag link . It's a safety hazard. And innocent people can get hurt by the horrible recall fix. It's in acceptable. And very unsafe it's hard to keep the truck in a straight line on the roads it's all over the place like a drunk driver .

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while having a routine alignment performed at an independent mechanic, the contact was informed that the steering wheel was cracked. The mechanic was unable to perform the alignment. The vehicle was previously taken to the local dealer under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The contact called the same local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was pulling to the left side. The ABS warning light was illuminated, causing the cruise control to be inoperable. Additionally, the front driver's and passenger's side tire treads were worn out quickly since having the recall repair performed under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The contact stated that the vehicle was unable to have an alignment performed due to the nut being welded per the recall remedy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that an alignment needed to be performed, but declined to replace the drag link assembly. The dealer confirmed that the vehicle had previously been repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering); however, the contact stated that the dealer only welded the nut to the adjuster sleeve but did not replace the drag link assembly per the remedy. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

While pulling my trailer on the interstate with cruise control set, I was going up a hill when all of a sudden my engine RPMs skyrocketed and my truck simultaneously lost propulsion. The cruise control system then disabled itself. My truck had slowed down enough that I turned my hazard lights on, and then selected a lower gear due to the decreased speed. While attempting to accelerate back to a normal speed, my trucks RPMs again skyrocketed and my truck simultaneously lost propulsion. I was now fairly certain that my clutch was slipping. I was able to limp the truck back to my shop. I then contacted my dealership asking if this would be covered by the manufacture powertrain warranty, they informed that it was not. I then asked for them to order me a new flywheel, clutch kit, and all other incidental parts. It was at this time the dealer advised that I instead purchase an after-market performance clutch because they had seen very high failure rates from the OEM clutches. Not wanting the risk of using parts not designed by the OEM, I elected to use all OEM replacement parts. Upon installation of the new clutch parts, I discovered the clutch friction material was not even warn down on the slipping clutch. After the repairs, my truck was back to normal until, out of the blue again, the same thing happened with approximately 12,000 miles on the replacement OEM clutch components. Remembering what the dealer said about the high failure rates, I decided to hang onto the original clutch, pressure plate and flywheel incase the want or need to examine it would arise later. My trailer complies with all of the manufactures rated weight capacities. The now slipping replacement OEM clutch has not yet been removed from the truck. I do not want to use after-market replacement parts, however I am now concerned about using the replacement OEM parts due to the unexpected loss of propulsion. Said issues occurred at approximate ODO of 46,800 miles and again at 58,800 miles.

On many occasions, the backup camera on my 2017 Ram 3500 DOES NOT FUNCTION when placed in reverse. I had my vehicle serviced and the Dealer said no problem with the camera could be found, but they did check all of the connectors were OK. The problem usually happens on wet or high humidity days, but also occurs during nice weather at random times. When the problem occurs, the display just shows random scrambled signal like a TV tuned to a channel with no signal. I noticed a recall that does not affect my model year. I am curious if the recall can be extended to my model year. The campaign for backup cameras is 23V654.

ABS warning lights lights keeps intermitting keeps going on and off. The ABS light and traction control lights flashes on and off, speed control goes off as well as a bell alarm. Had the ABS pump replaced under warranty at 22000 miles and now at 59000 mile same issues.
May 21, 2024
ABS light came on at 13,000 miles and was repaired under warranty. At 27,000 miles (2.5 years later), ABS has failed again, code C-020, but vehicle is out of warranty. Contacted FCA and was told "sorry, its out of warranty, pay for it yourself and keep your receipts, just in case it goes to recall". This is a know safety issue as cruise control and traction control are also tied to the ABS. Driver distraction should also be mentioned due to the entirely random but frequent chimes going off due to ABS failure. When the truck was "repaired" the first time, the bad parts were replaced with identical parts, i.e. not a redesigned, more dependable part, but the same poor design as stock.

Abs and traction control lights come on, simultaneously canceling cruise control. Vehicle speed immediately slows, and traffic behind me catches up quickly as it takes a few seconds to react and get the vehicle back up to speed. Also, no abs in wet condition, etc. Bumps in the road cause the system to go out and come back on. It's become such a problem that I've had to pull the fuse for abs, which means no more cruise control. But also activates the red brake warning light. So if another problem comes up, I won't know as the brake light is already on.

The grid heater in my engine overheated causing a bolt to lose integrity and snap off being sucked into the # 6 cylinder causing catastrophic damage to the motor while I was towing a trailer up hill. Losing all power on a hill with a trailer seems like a pretty dangerous situation to me. It’s a known issue dating back too 2014 and still hasn’t been fixed my 2017 suffered from the issue and now I’m 2021-2023 models there catching fire and being recalled but my 2017 is not. There’s only 48,000 miles on my truck it’s not old at all and should be in the same recall as the newer models.

VERY SLOW TO RESPOND THROTTLE PEDAL, ITS TO A POINT OF NOT SAFE TO PULLOUT IN TRAFFIC OR MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY. THERE IS 2-4 SECONDS OF IDLE WHILE PEDAL IS TO THE FLOOR, THEN THE ENGINE WILL START TO INCREASE RPM AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION WILL SEEM TO BE IN NEUTRAL AT TIMES WHEN TURNING INTO AN ELEVATED PARKING LOT OR DRIVEWAY. APPLY MORE THROTTLE AND CLUNKS BACK INTO GEAR THEN WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD. AT TIMES COMING TO A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION WILL STAY IN A HIGHER GEAR OR THE LOCKUP CONVERTER IS STAYING LOCKED UP. TRYING TO STOP WITH TYPICAL BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE WILL NOT STOP THE TRUCK WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. YOU REALLY NEED TO APPLY PEDAL PRESSURE UNTIL IT COMPLETELY STOPS ROLLING THEN IT SEEMS TO RESET OR GO BACK TO NORMAL. RAM DEALERS CLAIM ITS CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRUCK AND THEY SAY THAT RAM STAR SAYS ITS NORMAL. A LITTLE RESEARCH ONLINE AND YOU WILL FIND THIS TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE. I AM LOOKING INTO LEMON LAW OR GETTING AN ATTORNEY. $60K TRUCK AND ITS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. COMPLETELY UNSATISFIED WITH MY PURCHASE

Component Failure: ABS ECU and HCU modules presented a trouble code C0020-01 after dashboard warning of ABS System problem. Safety Risk: Pulling my 12,000 trailer down the I-5 Grapevine without ABS, Traction Control or Cruise Control is very dangerous to myself and others. Failure Reproduced and confirmed by independent service center. Manufacturer (Stellantis) RAM insisted they change the HCU module before changing the ECU module (P/N 68347098AC). The HCU replacement did not clear the code, The manufactuer has a hold on shipping any ECU units to their dealer network. Truck has been out of service for three weeks! Dated 10/22/2024

Abs and traction control lights come on and off at intermittent times while driving, cruise control is lost when these lights come on, this has been an on going problem for about a year now but is a near constant every time I drive now starting about November 2023.
Jan 07, 2024
While under warranty in 2020 with approximately 15000 mile the ABS light and traction control light came on my truck. I was told that a new Hydraulic control unit and ABS module were being redesigned to replace the manufacturing defect, they lied at ram mopar! This is November 2023 and still no replacement parts, This issue affects the antilock brakes and traction control and cruise control and four wheel drive functions on my 2017 ram 3500 tradesman. I just contacted the local dealership parts department who told me that replacing these defective parts with new replacement parts will not work. The manufacturer must redesign the ABS module and Hydraulic control unit with with the new estimated date of July 2024 availability. In other words never!

The dealer said it is the same issue as the last 2 times and the parts, ABS controller and hydraulic modules will not be available until February 2024 at the earliest. Major safety issue that needs to be addressed now.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. The contact stated while the vehicle was undergoing DOT inspection, the DOT inspector advised the contact to shift in neutral (N), and to activate and squeeze the brake controller manually. The contact was then advised to shift into drive (D) and to release the brake pedal while squeezing the brake controller. The contact stated that upon following the instructions, the vehicle moved forward. The DOT inspector determined that the brake controller was malfunctioning because the trailer brakes failed to prevent vehicle movement when manually activated. The contact stated that the company's mechanic replaced the 7-way pins, the 7-way pin trailer cable, the 7-way pin wiring harness box, and module, the brake controller assembly, the wiring on the front and rear axles, the brake assemblies; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that when the brake controller was set at the max 10, the brake wire connector displayed 6.5 Volts, while the voltage should be 13.2 Volts. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 162,388.

MY RAM 3500 2017 LOST SHIFTING IN AN INTERSECTION. IT WAS TOWED TO HERMISTON CHRYSLER IN OREGON 9/21/2020. THEY SAY WARRANTY REQUIRES THEM TO DETERMINE THE FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER ONLY 57K MILES THE FUEL SENSOR / FUEL PUMP IS MALFUNCTIONING. FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING. I BELIEVE NOT KNOWING HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TRUCK CONSTITUTES A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH RAM TRUCKS AS REPORTED 100S OF TIMES ON LINE.

I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY AND ATTEMPTING TO MERGE TO THE RIGHT TO EXIT THE FREEWAY. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR TO ACCELERATE AND MERGE INTO TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE HESITATED AND THERE WAS NO POWER AT ALL FOR 2-3 SECONDS. AFTER THAT SHORT PERIOD, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MERGE. THIS SUDDEN FAILURE TO ACCELERATE WHEN MERGING IS A HAZARD BECAUSE WHILE WAITING FOR POWER FROM THE ENGINE ANOTHER CAR COULD CLOSE THE DISTANCE AND HIT ME DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED HESITATION.

WHILE BEGINNING TO PULL OUT ONTO THE HIGHWAY, I NOTICED A VEHICLE THAT APPEARED TO BE COMING FASTER THAN EXPECTED, I LET OFF THE THROTTLE AND THEN MADE THE DECISION TO CONTINUE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I GOT BACK ON THE THROTTLE, THERE WAS AN APPROXIMATE 2 SECOND DELAY WHERE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. I AVERTED AN ACCIDENT BY MANAGING TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, BUT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY 2013 RAM 3500 I HAD PREVIOUSLY. TO SUMMARIZE, I WOULD CALL THIS A "DEAD PEDAL" ISSUE. I CAN REPLICATE THIS SITUATION EVERY TIME BY ACCELERATING, LETTING OF THE ACCELERATOR, AND THEN GETTING BACK ON THE ACCELERATOR QUICKLY. AGAIN, THERE IS A ROUGHLY 2 SECOND TIME PERIOD WHERE THE ENGINE DOES NOT RESPOND WHATSOEVER.

[XXX] I got a check engine light and associated ABS and traction control light. Roads were dry and braking seemed fine. Lights eventually went out. Service department at dealership said sometimes moisture will cause this. No codes. Between May and October this problem has become repetitive and has been in the dealership service department multiple times. Codes show only when lights are on. Wheel speed sensor has been replaced (twice), but did not solve problem. Other features affected when these lights are on: 4WD will not engage, cruise control inop, rear collision sensor inoperative. My truck has been in the shop (dealership at Lithia in Anchorage, AK) since 10 Oct. Technician has said it needs ABS module and hydraulic pump, but FCA (or Stellantis who issued service contract) will not release parts (or they are out of parts and won’t admit). Apparently Ram engineers don’t believe service tech and are having him chase an electrical problem and now hub replacement. A quick internet search and it appears thousands of Ram owners (17-18) have dealt with this problem. The mileage is just shy of 110,000 and service contract expires at 125k or Jun 25. As a consumer I’m stuck between Ram engineers, and service department at dealership (currently without vehicle). A heavy duty pickup in Alaska is useless w/o 4WD on the rapidly approaching winter. This is obviously a known problem and needs resolution.

Heading down a mountain grade on [XXX] came around a turn on the down grade and all the sudden warning lights starting going off. Tried braking harder but almost no brakes on the pickup. Managed to press the emergency brake, thankfully we were going at a slow enough speed. So many messages on the dash that I was having trouble getting to the trailer brakes to increase the gain so I could use them to help us get stopped. How was my safety and my Wife's at risk, brake failure on a mountain grade could have been bad. Taking it to a Ram Dealer on Tuesday, June 25,2024 in Hanover, PA. I was told by a mechanic that he scanned the system and pulled Code C0020. Was also told probably Hydraulic Control Unit or ABS Control Unit failure which is a common problem. At the time of the incident here are the warning lights and messages : Service Electronic Braking System, service abs, service trailer brakes. service rear park sensors, traction control disabled & trailer brakes disconnected ( had to unplug and replug to get back). The reason for this report is to let you know that my anti lock brake system has been malfunctioning for at least 10k miles. This is the same symptoms that you can read about on the internet. Flashing warning lights on the dash board and loss of cruise control. The warning alarm for the most part now is alerting continuously. When it first started the Chrysler dealer said that it was no longer in warranty. The truck is still like new and has 55k miles. I would like to see Chrysler do what is RIGHT and correct this widespread safety issue!! [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Steering and/or front suspension developed into what is called a death wobble at 70mph. The steering wheel had so much hard wobble that it became almost uncontrollable to hold onto it, and keep the vehicle moving straight which put the vehicle onto the shoulder and into a shallow ditch. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, but when it happened previously, I had it looked at, and supposedly repaired. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No, there was no damage to the vehicle, but I am taking it back to the shop where the repair was supposedly made. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No, it came on suddenly.

ABS unit is malfunctioning for the third time on the truck. The dealer has already replacement it twice but it keeps beeping for notification and flashing the ABS indicator. The Hydraulic Control Unit doesn't work, because of this I can't use Cruise Control or the 4x4 component of the truck. The Traction Control System light is on making it difficult to break properly in wet surfaces. There are thousands of people waiting for the replacement of the ABS unit, due to the 2017 and 2018 models having this issue.

While driving the vehicles message display center says "service emergency braking system", the traction control indication light turns on and off, the abs indicator light turns on and off, the park sense indicators turn on and off, and if cruise control is on it is deactivated and turns on and off. An audible chime indication is also sounded when the message center displays a message. With the traction control and abs turning on and off creates an extreme safety problem especially with the winter months ahead. The vehicle has not yet been looked at by a anyone but an appointment has been made with the local dealership. This first started while driving on 11/11/2023. However, the indicator lights and chime still occur while the vehicle is in park and motor running.

Now Dodge dealership/Stellantis claims the drag link assembly was permanently damaged by their prior recall work, and that truck cannot be aligned or driven safely but also won't fix it. They have been telling me they will action the case "today" or "one businesses day" since 27 Aug. I found out that the alignment and steering problem I had been spending money to fix since 2019 was a result of their poor recall repair and trying to get a response from Dodge Stellantis since AUG 06, and I have been without the use of the truck and unable to care for my horses since then. I have spent more than 14 hours directly on the phone with them without any action - my truck remains essentially impounded at the dealership. Est 20k miles at initial recall V06 failed repair attempt but their records should say. Current document is currently dealership that admitted the initial recall repair attempt damaged the draglink assembly beyond any hope of salvage/alignment.

While test driving a 2017 RAM 3500 6.7L Cummins diesel at Cherry Hill Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, both the check engine light and the regen warning light came on simultaneously. I returned to the dealership, looked up the regen warning, then retrieved my BlueDriver OBD2 scanner from my own vehicle. I scanned the truck on-site and ran live data. The scan confirmed the diesel particulate filter (DPF) was 100% full, and the regeneration system was not functioning. Permanent fault code P242F was stored, and the exhaust backpressure reading was over 25 PSI at idle — indicating a severely blocked system. These faults were not disclosed by the dealership, and no inspection or documentation from a diesel technician was available. I later discovered the truck also has an open safety recall (Manufacturer Recall Number: C4B / NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-896) for a potential failure of the Brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU). This recall involves the loss of ABS, Electronic Stability Control, and Traction Control, and the recall status is listed as incomplete with no remedy available as of the test date. I offered to purchase the truck for $35,000 out-the-door on the condition that the emissions system was repaired and certified. The salesperson spoke with the manager, then returned and told me the vehicle was no longer for sale. I then overheard the manager say they planned to wholesale the vehicle, likely without disclosing these active safety and emissions system failures. I am filing this report to ensure the vehicle is flagged for unresolved safety and emissions violations before it is sold or auctioned in its current condition. I have full diagnostic scan data, photographs, and written communication from the visit available upon request.

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 40-45 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact continued driving uphill and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle failed to restart. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road with assistance. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it diagnosed that the emission control system had failed. The mechanic replaced the EGR cooler, the EGR valve and the temperature sensor. Additionally, the mechanic performed other unknow repairs. The vehicle was repaired out-of-pocket. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The contact stated that she had received an unknown recall notification related to the failure. The manufacturer was contacted for reimbursement; however, the reimbursement claim was denied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The vehicle had a sudden acceleration problem and the driver ended up in a big crash. The driver is in the hospital with many injuries. The vehicle was taken to the dealer before, at the beginning of March, because the check engine light was on and the throttle control light on and the truck didn't shift properly and dealer said that he doesn't have a transmission mechanic for about a month. They worked on the recalls and the oil and fuel filters change. Afterwards I took the truck to another shop. They changed the oil at the transmission, but the truck showed the same messages on the cluster almost immediately. I took the truck to another mechanic and they changed the solenoids in the transmission, but in a short time the same messages (Check engine light and throttle control light) came on the cluster. When these light came on the truck didn't shift properly so I spoke with another mechanic about the problem and he programmed me for an appointment on August 4th. This date is too late now, because on July 25th I lost the truck in a terrible accident due to sudden acceleration of the truck and the driver could not stop it. The brakes failed and he tried to slow it down driving it against the concrete curve but he couldn't, the truck kept on speeding then he hit a big tree in order not to crash other cars on the road or the people in the driveway close to the place of the accident.

I made appointment with Ram dealership. The letter said 2 or so hours. The advisor stated, it will take all day because I was a recall and they will not have the diesel mechanic stop working on other vehicles for a recall. Which makes no sense since it's not my fault The truck not safe to drive. In addition, I depend on my truck because I use it for my work - hot shot (delivery). I been waiting at dealership for over 3 hours and they still have not even looked at it. The dealership is not prioritizing my vehicle, although it should since I am a customer after all and this is a recall from the manufacturer. Dealerships should be made aware that a vehicle should be fixed as they come in, not based on whether you are paying or not. This dealership always does this when warranty or recalls and it's frustrating. It's not fair for us to lose this much time because we are not paying. How is it my fault the vehicle is defective? After all it was not caused because of my driving but because it was not manufactured correctly. I like Ram but the dealership need to better understand the customer whether paying or not. This is not fair and is annoying.

OCCASIONALLY WHEN YOU STEP ON THE CLUTCH TO STOP THE VEHICLE OR CHANGE GEARS, THE CLUTCH PEDAL JUST GOES STRAIGHT TO FLOOR AND DOES NOT DISENGAGE THE CLUTCH. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF TO STOP THE VEHICLE, AND SOMETIMES WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO BACK INTO A GEAR. ALSO WHILE DRIVING, SOMETIMES YOU CANNOT CHANGE GEARS. AFTER THE FIRST SIGN OF TROUBLE I CHECKED ALL OF THE FLUID LEVELS AND FOUND THAT THE HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR FOR THE CLUTCH CONTROL ASSEMBLY WAS LOW ON FLUID. I'VE HAD TO REFILL THIS RESERVOIR SEVERAL TIMES NOW, WHICH HELPS THE ISSUE OF CHANGING GEARS HOWEVER THE FLUID STILL SEEMS TO BE LEAKING OUT FROM SOMEWHERE, AND I'M CONCERNED THAT IT IS LEAKING SOMEWHERE INTERNALLY IN THE TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH AREA.

PARKING BRAKE LOCKED UP DUE THE FACT THAT PARKING BRAKE PADS HAD BEEN COMPLETELY WORN. DETAILS: BOUGHT VEHICLE AT 100 MILES AND HAD ALWAYS BEEN RELEASING THE PARKING LEVER PRIOR TO DRIVE AND AT LITTLE OVER 2,000 MILES, PARKING BRAKE FAILED AND LOCKED UP AT A PARKING LOT 150 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. I BELIEVED THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM MUST HAD BEEN ENGAGED WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE SINCE THERE HAD BEEN NO WARNING LIGHT ON DASH. THAT WAS WHY IT TOOK OVER 2000 MILES TO COMPLETELY WEAR DOWN PARKING BRAKES TO THE POINT AT THE FINAL PULL/ENGAGEMENT, IT LOCKED UP. SINCE THE VEHICLE IS STILL BRAND NEW AND UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY, I HAD ASKED DEALER TO INVESTIGATE AND DEALER WOULD NOT. I HAD ALSO ASKED FCA TO SEND ENGINEER TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT AND WAS TOLD ?NO?. THEIR REASON WAS IT WAS MY FAULT WHICH IS EASIER FOR THEM TO DO THAN ACCEPT THE RESPONSIBILITY. I ALSO ASKED MY EXTENDED WARRANTY POLICY PEOPLE (WHICH I HAD PURCHASED) BUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOLKS SAID, THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW SO IT WOULD BE COVER UNDER THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY WHICH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER UNTIL THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY PERIOD HAD EXPIRED. SINCE THIS IS A BRAKE ISSUE AND I BELIEVE THIS IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH I NEED HELP ESCALATING TO FCA TO TAKE/ACCEPT SOME RESPONSIBILITY AT LEAST TO INVESTIGATE.

RECENTLY, I DEPARTED FROM HOME IN MY TRUCK TO HEAD OUT ON ERRANDS. I FOUND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STEER. REALIZING IT FELT LIKE A FLAT FRONT TIRE, I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND FOUND THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS FLAT. AT NO TIME DID I RECEIVE ANY WARNING FROM THE FACTORY INSTALLED TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. LOOKING AT THE TPMS, THE PRESSURE INDICATED 14 PSI, THEN LATER 11 PSI. AT NO TIME DID I RECEIVE AN AUDIBLE OR VISUAL ALARM FROM THE TRUCK. LATER I HAD THE NEARBY DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATE THIS, AND THEY REPORTED THE SYSTEM IS WORKING AS DESIGNED, BUT THEY CAN'T/WON'T SHOW ME IN WRITING WHEN THE ALARMS ARE SUPPOSED TO ACTIVATE. I HAVE AN OPEN CASE WITH RAM CUSTOMER CARE, BUT THE MANAGER CONTINUES TO POINT TOWARDS THE DEALERSHIP'S VERBAL ANSWER. ANOTHER PERSON I KNOW WAS RECENTLY DRIVING TOWING A HEAVY RIG WHEN ANOTHER DRIVER POINTED OUT TO THEM THAT THEY HAD A FLAT TIRE ON THE TRUCK. THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY WARNING FROM THE TPMS. AS YOU KNOW, THE RISK OF A TIRE OVERHEATING AND BLOWING IS WHAT TPMS IS SUPPOSED TO HELP DRIVERS AVOID. A TPMS THAT IS NOT WARNING DRIVERS AFTER ABOUT 10-20% LOSS OF PRESSURE IS CREATING A RISK FOR OPERATORS AND OTHER VEHICLES AND PASSENGERS.

I WAS HAULING A 15,000 LB FIFTH WHEEL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT ABOUT 45MPH COMING UP TO THE LIGHT ON HWY. 35 AND HWY. 20 INTERSECTION NORTHBOUND IN INDIANA. I TAPPED MY FOOT ON THE BREAK TO SHUT MY CRUISE CONTROL OFF LIKE I NORMALLY DO AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE THROTTLE TO CONTROL THE ACCELERATION TO THE LIGHT. I REALIZE I WASN'T SLOWING DOWN PROPERLY AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND STOOD BOTH FEET ON THE BREAK TO TRY TO STOP TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I ENDED UP HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME EVEN WITH THE TRUCK AND TRAILER BRAKES APPLIED. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF IN EITHER VEHICLE. EVERYTHING WENT SO QUICKLY, DIDN'T KNOW WHY THE TRUCK DIDN'T WANT TO SLOW DOWN. I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THE TRUCK OR MY 2018 TRUCK. I BELIEVE THE CRUISE CONTROL NOT SHUTTING OFF WAS THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE YOU TO COME AND INVESTIGATE IT TO SEE IF THAT WAS THE ISSUE OF THE ACCIDENT. I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED IT.

THERE IS A CHASSIS VIBRATION ISSUE WHERE THE ENTIRE TRUCK SHAKES AT SPEEDS OVER 60 MPH. THE SEATS SHAKE AND THE WHOLE TRUCK SHAKES AS IF A TIRE IS REALLY OUT OF BALANCE. THERE IS NO SHAKE IN THE STEERING WHEEL HOWEVER, AND NEW TIRES, AND RECENTLY BALANCED TIRES, HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE ISSUE. IT SEEMS TO START IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. MANY PEOPLE ON THE FORUMS REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO ONE HAS FOUND A FIX FOR IT THAT I KNOW OF. DEALERS JUST THROW NEW TIRES AND WHEELS AT THE PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION.
