Traction control, stability control, and ABS all not working. Started at 8,700 miles, truck now has 9,800 miles on it. Received a recall end of 2024, part is still not available. This is taking far to long for a repair, we know someone who has an extended warranty who had their truck repaired. Something is fishy here. This truck is the same as new and was bought to tow a fifth wheel and haul tractor and track hoe. Not safe to do so. Ram should have issued a do not drive on this truck and the repair should have been done a long time ago. Either fix it or replace it, this time frame is unacceptable.

This recall has been open and unresolved for 12 months. Contacted both the dealership and the manufacturer. Both have stated parts are not available and unknown timeframe when the vehicle can be repaired. Currently, the vehicle is drivable, but indicator lights are not illuminated on the dashboard. Case number with manufacture is 94739240

Recall C4B/NHTSA 24V-896 was issued November 2024. To this date, there is no remedy. I have spoken with both FCA and my local dealership. Both have communicated that FCA does not have a resolution and can not provide a date for parts availability for repair. As the recall states. " The loss of the ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle related crash without prior warning". I have significant concerns with the potential mechanical failure which could lead to a vehicular accident. 12 months without resolution is not acceptable.

I had just merged onto the highway and was in the left lane that was ending ahead. As soon as I switched lanes traffic came to a stop. I slammed on the brakes and the truck came to a complete stop before impact. Then with my foot still on the brake pedal the truck lurched forward making impact with the vehicle in front of me. I believe that the defective brake HCU failure caused the ABS system to fail ultimately resulting in the accident. The only damage was to the front bumper. No airbags deployed and the accident was not reported. I would like Ram to replace my bumper since I have been driving with this problem for over a year and still no fix to the problem. It is a clear safety issue and had resulted in not being able to safely drive the truck.

Crash: 1
I have had actual issues with this vehicle due to the recall CB4 with the HCU unit. My vehicle not only has the recall but is actually effected. This recall is over a year old and my braking (antilock braking, traction control, etc) changed how the vehicle was driving last October on my way back from a funeral so it’s nearly a year since I’ve been able to drive my truck. I can’t sell it because all the bells & whistles chime alerting to an electric braking issue. Shouldn’t RAM be forced to buy back vehicles they can’t fix after a year? At this level of a recall where safety limits the ability to drive it but I still have to pay insurance on it and can’t get another vehicle because I can’t sell this one? I called NHTSA late winter and FCA (x2) already and FCA second call didn’t keep a record of my 1st call which is dishonest. They said I’d be put on the list for early repairs but then didn’t log my first call. I’m not sure if they logged my 2nd call. I think they should have to start buying vehicles back.

After stopping at the local dealer monthly concerning this safety recall I am told every time that the part is not available. I am left driving this truck in an unsafe state and am concerned for public safety as well as my own. No assistance is ever offered and there is no eta on when to expect the needed parts. This is a known issue that a safety recall has been issued for but RAM is taking no action to correct.

My HCU has failed I had a car pull into my lane on the freeway and my truck and fifth wheel slid for a long period of time. After the close call I contacted the dealership and they said they have no parts to fix the recall. I also contacted the FCA customer care 1 800 853 1403. After many calls and lost calls the Indian man told me it was totally safe to drive my truck he has no clue what a fifth wheel trailer is. I now have a 12400 mile truck i only use to pull my trailer sitting in limbo waiting to be repaired. Seems like when the truck goes through all the chimes and flashing lights I lose my cruise control and trailer brake function how is this safe?

Stellantis is unable to provide a timey remedy for NHTSA Recall Number24V-896. The hydraulic control unit ("HCU") is susceptible to failure or malfunction which may result in a reduction or change of Anti-Lock Brake System ("ABS")/Electronic Stability Control ("ESC") /Traction Control performance. A failing HCU will initially result in the intermittent loss of ABS/Traction control progressing to permanent loss. The loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. Driving the vehicle is a safety risk to me and the public. The vehicle is garaged at an authorized dealership since 2/13/25 and has resulted in a loss of income totaling $40,000 as the truck was used for transporting heavy loads. Additionally, I have paid $9,000 towards the monthly truck note and insurance for a vehicle that I cannot drive. Stellantis has not provided an adequate solution, and they are ill-equipped to be a manufacturer of vehicles in the United States. Stellantis is actively misrepresenting safety information to the public without any regard for the public’s safety. Out of an abundance of caution, I filed Better Business Bureau complaint case #[XXX] on [XXX] with the Detroit and Eastern Michigan office after Stellantis advised me that the 2018 Ram 3500 was safe to drive even though the recall was not repaired. Stellantis’ response can be viewed by the public at the Better Business Bureau of Detroit and Eastern Michigan’s website. It reads as follows: “We issued this recall out of our commitment to your safety and recommend that you complete the repair as soon as the remedy becomes available. However, please rest assured that you can continue driving your vehicle safely in the meantime." They made 5.5 billion in profit in 2024 and they won't deal fairly regarding a rental vehicle. On 7/17 they told me they would reimburse up to $60 then 8 days later they said up to $50. When I submitted my rental receipts they said their system is down. Constant service electronic braking system and service ABS warning lights, loss of all traction control. It started as a intermittent loss of of these systems and now it is a total loss. There is nothing I can do to make it go away or function correctly. I took it to the dealer to talk about the recall and asked if I could go ahead and pay to have the replacement parts installed and they told me everything was unavailable. This problem has been going on for over two months. It is unsafe, now I don't have any ABS or traction control in the middle of the winter, this is the worst possible time this could happen. How can there not be a alternative solution? Someone is going to crash and get killed.

HI, My 2018 RAM 3500, had had a Anti-lock brake control module light on and off about a hundred times a day for the past year, I just spoke to the Ram Service manager at Leith Ram in Wendel NC and she told me that Ram has no fix for this part, and it has been on backorder for over 2.5 years, you can have total brake failure with this part being defective, how has the NTSB not stepped in and put some pressure on them to get this fixed, there are hundreds of thousands of trucks out there with this problem. Why is it being allowed to continue for years and years without a solution??

Since January 2023, my truck stability control system has been disabled related to CB4 NHTSA 24V-896 recall. TWO years! I can't sell the truck like this & I have no idea when it will result in an accident. Stellantis needs to be held accountable. Every contact with them results in a response of waiting for parts. I've had no choice but to drive another 18000 dangrous miles with this vehicle. This is unacceptable.

Almost got into a wreck because my ABS failed. I was going down the interstate with my cruise control on and my abs and traction light came on. My cruise control.immediately stopped working and I was almost rear ended. I called the Ram dealership and they said they have no time frame of when they will have parts in to fix it under the recall. Does someone have to die before Ram will start fixing these abs units. The recall has been out since Nov 2024. They need to be held accountable or buy back all 2017 and 2018 rams affected by this.

Audible alarm, warning lights on dash. Come on and off. No cruise control available.
Jan 14, 2025
my traction control, cruise control unavailable, and warning light to service abs electrical system. Dealership said the hydraulic control unit has to be replaced.
Nov 08, 2024
My 2018 Ram 3500 DRW truck for no reason started throwing dash warning lights intermittently after 60,000 miles. The warning lights activated on the dash were for ABS and Traction Control, with an annoying ding when they appeared. The center dash light stated "Service Antilock Braking System. Additionally, when this occurred the cruise control did not work. The warning lights were intermittent and just occurred at any time and disappeared as quickly as they showed up. This would happen for miles and for no apparent reason just stopped for a period of time. I took the truck to the dealer who informed me that its a known issue with the ABS HCU and the truck would be safe to drive but I would not have ABS and cruise control would not work. They also said parts were not available and could be a six month wait. They also told me that there were no recalls on the problem. I received a quote for repair which was in excess of $1,500.

The Hydraulic brake control has been a recall with no replacement part available for over 2 years and this causes many safety functions to not work properly including trailer braking. They have made parts for a 2500 model but neglected to fix the 3500, 4500 and 5500 models. They will fix it with another faulty sensor and still expect owner to pay a 1700 repair bill even though it’s a recall. It’s ridiculous on the time this is taking.

The service electronic braking system and service abs system continues to ding and pop up on screen. Cruise control will not work either.
Dec 02, 2024
ABS-Hydraulic Control Unit failure, pump motor control electrical failure. Confirmed/ Diagnosed by dealer. Service Electronic Braking Service and Service ABS/TRACTION CONTROL. This is intermittent. When it happens Cruise control, 4 wheel drive and abs doesn't work. Happens when I'm towing my camper or not. Trailer brakes won't work when this happens. Hundreds, maybe thousands of complaints about this on Ram forums. This problem occurs no matter what the speed is. It even happens while sitting still.

Related to the known HCU failure on these vehicles. My first submitted complaint was on Oct 22, 2022 and this issue is still not resolved. I received a letter in mail on January 21st of this year stating that a recall was finally underway. Now it's late March and everyone's standard response is "No Remedy Yet". The remedy is actually installing HCU part number 68143491AB which replaces the corrupt factory installed part 6814391AA. These parts are readily available online so why can't factory service centers begin replacing these failed HCU's. This complaint is filed due to my belief that this dangerous safety issue is not being resolved in a reasonable, timely manner. Not even close.

Warning lights for the ABS and the Electronic Brake System illuminated while driving, stating the systems must be serviced. The Cruise Control would either turn off or become nonfunctional. The tone would sound and the warning lights would illuminate. I took the truck in to the dealership after it happened but the lights would not come on while I was there. The dealership told me they could do nothing about it. After that, the tone began to sound and the lights came on again. We finally made it to the dealership when they could see the warnings. The service technician inspected the ABS and found that the ABS HCU had shorted internally. Further inspection found the ABS Module also shorted internally. Two trips were made to the dealership because the dealership did not have the parts in stock. This occurred at the same time as the cyberattacks which affected parts delivery and we were not notified the parts were in for over a month. The cost of the these two visits were over $1,400.

Abs and electronic control system lights intermittently come on and off constantly and have been for 25,000 miles. When it started happening Chrysler knew what the problem was hcu and abs module is malfunctioning but unfortunately no parts were available and couldn’t tell me when they would be available. I’m just now putting in the complaint due to just learning about this site.

The ABS light intermittently comes on/off. It pops up while driving, but goes away. Sometimes it goes on/off several times on short drives. I need to know if this is going to lead to an all out failure of the braking system or something else. I confirmed with the dealer, where I purchased the truck, that it's a known issue and the part is on national backorder. Based on my research, this appears to be a common issue with Dodge Ram trucks built between 2017 and 2021. I need to know what my options are since I plan to purchase the needed part(s) at my expense since my family's safety is at risk.

The stereo malfunctioned on several occasions, I have taken it to the dealer and had a new stereo put in. My safety was at risk because the radio started jumping from station to station and calling people in my contact list. All of these increased concerns and my driving was impacted. This made it impossible to drive safely due to this issue. I had to pull over each time and disconnect my Bluetooth and unplug my phone for hands free driving. This issue caused a very unsafe and distracted event. Yes this has been confirmed. It has not been inspected by the police; this is a huge issue with these trucks there are several complaints that have been turned in. There were no warnings. The radio would work fine and then start going off on a tangent, there is no way to even turn off the radio to prevent this from happening. This needs to be covered by Dodge Ram, this issue is unsafe and could cause an accident.

Dashboard ABS and Traction Control Lights come on intermittently with message to service breaking system. The lights are accompanied by loud audio alarms. The audio alarms usually cycle through a minimum of three times; sometime five. The dashboard ABS and Traction lights reset by themselves. Scanner codes identify an electrical problem with the ABS HCU and/or hydraulic pump. Dealership maintenance and service departments advise new parts are not available but to check back frequently for supply updates. If/when repair parts become available, this repair will be the second time I have endured this problem. Also, I have been able to reset the above dashboard alerts and audio alarms without the aid of Bidirectional scanner by cycling my windows down and up. So, I’m not sure if I have an ABS/TC problem or a wiring problem.

STEERING
20 complaints
My vehicle is experiencing an abnormal free play in the steering wheel during driving on mountain roads. The steering box will all of a sudden get “light” and over steer in a long corner and has been getting worse, I have had several other friends that have experienced total failure of the steering box and have reported that the problem gets worse over time, before complete failure of steering. My nearest dealer has confirmed that the steering box may need to be replaced but it is not a “recall”! Seems pretty dangerous to me if steering may fail. Many online forums have numerous customers with same issue and had to have steering box replaced for this exact senerio. This is a highly costly repair and my truck only has 73kmiles on it. I feel this is a very serious issue that needs to be addressed by Ram! Especially if they have replaced steering boxes due to this exact complaint. They quoted me over $2500 to replace, but said it was not covered under a recall? I am very nervous driving this truck when this situation has gotten worse and is very noticeable when driving.

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly steered to the right. There was no warning light illuminated. The contacted turned the steering wheel between the 10 and 11 0’clock positions to keep the vehicle aligned. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was then towed to a local mechanic however, the vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated while driving 55-70 MPH, he lost control of the steering wheel. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed to respond as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact then continued driving by the side of the road at 35 MPH and took the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The lug nuts were welded to the adjustment sleeve; however, the drag link was not replaced. The contact stated that the weld later fractured, and the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer, Carson Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram (3059 S Carson St, Carson City, NV 89701) where it was diagnosed that the drag link needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened a case. However, the contact had not received any assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

Dodge RAM put out a Recall V06 to inspect / weld the drag link adjuster sleeve for the steering. I was lead to believe that a new replacement adjuster sleeve would be coming that would not require being welded, once those parts were available, we could have the adjuster sleeve replaced that was welded. Here is the issue, EVERY TRUCK that has had the adjuster sleeve welded has to have those welds ground off when an alignment is done and then REWELDED at the cost to the customer. That doesn't seem right or fair, I'm told there is a new part available for the proper repair but the customer has to purchase this at around $400.00. Why should the customer have to pay $159 to have the adjuster sleeve that was welded per a safety issued recall UNWELDED to have an alignment done and then rewelded. Alignments are a maintenance issue and this cost should not be stuck to the owner of the vehicle, I feel Dodge Ram should be replacing these welded sleeves with the new part available at NO cost to the customer so future alignments can be performed as normal. [XXX] AEP / PSO American Electric Power - Public Service Co. of Oklahoma We have a fleet of these vehicles that had this recall done. The contact veered to the side of the road and exited the vehicle, but he could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated as he attempted to drive the vehicle, the steering wheel started vibrating uncontrollably. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering linkage needed to be replaced and the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist since the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,100.

The contact owns a 2018 Ram 3500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. Additionally, when the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed as an ABS module and hydraulic control unit (HCU) failure; however, the part to do the repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

3 yrs ago, took to dealership for light for electronic brake module, was told that the part was on backorder. Picked up truck and was told that they would let us know when part came in, have called and spoken to at least 11 different service reps and a managers (Dodge as well) over the last 3 years. They close the tickets after a certain amount of time and you have to explain yourself over and over and get the same answer, the part is on national backorder. Our warranty expired 10/2023, there is still no recall on our truck but other truck have a recall. I have tried and called the 1-800 number to get help with this matter and still we have a vehicle that we may cause injury to us or others. Please help!

August 2024, arrived to Discount Tire, Lee Store in Prescott Valley, AZ. Showed salesperson my Ram 3500HD, also reflected on my account with them. Salesperson ordered 122Q instead of 122QE for 1 ton truck. This was intentional as 4 months later (December) brought in for excessive wear, manager on duty declined warranty and tried Toyo who required I go back to dealer placing me into procedural loopholes and denial of service from both. This week noticed drastically worse and demanded reopening of December claim. Same dealer manager on duty did nothing, reached out to Toyo again. At no point did anyone (Toyo, salesperson or Discount Tire Manager) admit the mistake as kept repeating premature disintegration of tread and safety issues. After continuous delays, knowing vehicle is 3500HD and these are not E-10 no viable actions taken to secure my safety. I researched further and found the wrong tires were installed on my vehicle. Tire company knew and withheld this vital piece of information and failed to take action when reported back in December and again in July. Tire on vehicle: Toyo Open Country CT - LT275/70R18 125/122Q. I have the back and forth emails for this month's and December. I've enclosed the one tire (purchased 4).

Sep 2020 purchased 6 Cooper Discoverer AT3 (LT235/80 R17) tires to replace OEM tires, mileage 12,885. On/around Sep 2022 while towing a 38' 5th wheel trailer, front end of truck started bouncing, mileage 26,334. Both driver and passenger tires where found to have tread separation. Replaced those two with same make/model new tires. All other tires where rotated and balanced. New tires went to inner rear wheels. On/around Aug 2023, once again while towing large 5th wheel trailer, front of truck started bouncing when turning to the left, muted vibration when turning to the right. Tire shop found passenger front tire tread separation again. This was one of the orginal 6 from 2020, mileage 33,762. Since 3 of the 6 tires failed I replaced all 7 (spare included) Cooper tires at my expense.
Aug 28, 2023
Bought truck brand new in 2019. Around 16-17,000 miles, I had to replace both front tires, the steel belt had shifted inside the tire causing a bulge and making the vehicle vibrate severly while transporting 3 horses (Approximate trailer w/ horse weight = 14000lbs). I brought back to the dealership, replaced with the same brand as I was unaware of these issues. I now have 36,000 total miles on my truck and about 19,000 miles on this new set and the issue just occurred again. There is something wrong with this brad of tire that these belts continue to shift inside the tire and will eventually cause larger issues. When the event occurs, everything inside the vehicle begins to vibrate and no question impacts the suspension components.

Our 2018 RAM 3500 is factory equipped with Nexen LT235/80R tires. This Ram has 16023 miles on it. We pull a 36 foot 5th wheel RV, weighing approx 15K lbs. When coming home from a trip on July 16th 2022 at 7pm, on I75 south around Sidney Ohio, 15 miles from home. This is a 70 mph zone, when we got to 60 mph the entire cab and bed started shaking and vibrating to where it was hard to keep on the road. At this time we feared of being or causing an accident. We exited and visually inspected the Ram and unit, and visually looked to be fine, We continued home via back county roads at a 35mph speed as the fear was still within us from what we just experienced. On Monday July 18th 2022 I took the Ram to Tires Choice 1101 West Main Street Troy Ohio [XXX]. The tech and I took the Ram out and reproduced exactly what we experienced on July 16th, without the trailer hooked. After inspection while on the lift it was found that the belt was broken on the front passenger tire , and was told we were lucky this did blow hauling a 15k trailer. I replaced all 6 tires in fear that the other tires may also be faulty, and if fear of having or causing an accident to would result in serious injury or even death. After researching this particular Nexen tire I found SEVERAL negative and shocking reviews. THIS TIRE NEEDS TO BE REMOVED AND RECALLED FROM THE PUBLIC. I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the "fix" performed on my vehicle related to the V06 Drag Link Recall. The fix, which involved checking the torque settings and welding the locknuts to the adjustment sleeve, has caused significant issues with the alignment of my vehicle. As a result, my truck is unable to be aligned, creating unsafe driving conditions. Vehicles with improper alignment present a serious safety risk, including uneven tire wear, reduced handling capabilities, and compromised braking performance. These dangers not only affect the stability of the vehicle but also pose a threat to the safety of the driver, passengers, and others on the road. The current situation with my vehicle’s alignment, as a result of this inadequate recall fix, is unacceptable and needs to be addressed immediately. I have already attempted to resolve this issue by working directly with a dealership, but after an initial conversation where they assured me the issue would be taken care of, I was subsequently ignored and "ghosted." This lack of follow-through is deeply disappointing, especially considering the severity of the situation. It is my understanding that the fix originally performed on my vehicle was not the permanent solution. The real fix, as I have learned through discussions with other affected customers and further research, involves the installation of a new drag link, followed by a full alignment, at no cost to the customer. I would also like to emphasize that, as evidenced on various online forums, other customers who have encountered similar issues with the V06 Drag Link Recall have had their concerns addressed properly. In those cases, Ram has taken full accountability for the problem and provided the permanent fix as promised. I expect consistent treatment and the same resolution for my vehicle, as I should not be treated any differently than those who have had their issues rectified.

The ABS sensor warning indicator comes on randomly. Normally every 45 seconds or so. The cruise control will not work when the warning triggers. The dealer replaced the sensor and the HCU units when the truck had @ 40k miles. Problem reoccurred within 6 months. The replacement parts have not been available now for 18 months and the dealer tells me they have no expectation when the parts will be available.

Main Frame is cracking between the cab and bed of the truck. I took it to my local Ram Dealer in Chico Ca. Chuck Pattersons Ram they inspected it and told me not to drive it because it is unsafe to drive. The service manger said the frame did not crack from anything I did. It looked to him like it was a factory defect. They are welding across the top of the frame when mounting a bracket which is weaking the frame. This is where my crack developed from. They told me to contact Ram customer care arbitration as they should be able to authorize a replacement of the faulty frame. Without any explanation Ram arbitration denied the claim. I asked them to send me something in writing saying why they denied the claim and the person on the phone hung up on me. This is why I am contacting you.

my vehicle (Ram 3500 w/ a 6.7 liter diesel engine) has less than 38,000 miles and the ABS Hydraulic Control Module has to be replaced. I’ve been told the part is on back order and cost to replace the unit is over $500 with another $400 plus to install this part. The dealership stated they could not place more orders until late March and since I’ve been researching and found out that this is a larger issue that has been identified to Ram with a class action lawsuit for certain years and I think that this issue should be handled at no cost to the consumer.

Hello, I have an issue with the ABS Braking system on my 2018 RAM 3500 with only 50K miles on it. The lights are constantly coming on and off telling me that my ABS system needs servicing. this has been going on for two weeks. I was able to troubleshoot the problem and it says that my ABS pump and Module needs replacing. I was going to replace myself and when I ordered the parts from MOPAR they told me it was a 2 month lead time which I thought was unacceptable being such critical components to a vehicle. This week I almost rear ended another vehicle because the brakes failed. I have been online reading about the stories of these same complaints from many RAM & JEEP owners. How this company is getting away with safety issue is beyond me as this is going back to 2023, how are there no safety recalls on this not issued yet and customers not being reimbursed for the repairs. The issue was diagnosed by my independent mechanic using his scanner. If you require further info on this please feel free to reach out to me.

I started getting an intermittent error code on my truck with only 36k miles on it. the traction control, abs and cruise control wont work when the service electronic braking system code is present. I have done a lot of reading and this seems to be a very common issue with the 2017 and 2018 ram trucks. It is so common that I called my local dealer and the part is on back order for months. I am getting very close to taking a long road trip with a 20ft trailer, which is the reason I purchased this truck. Now I cant even get a replacement part, that is a known issue and I was quoted $1100 for it. Braking system seems to be a safety issue, why isn't ram doing something about this issue!

The ABS light and Traction control light keeps coming on and off very frequently. I am being told it is the Hydraulic control unit, as well as the abs module. This seems to be a huge safety issue that many people are running into.
Jan 29, 2024
The Hydraulic control unit has failed. It has been taken to a mechanic and diagnosed. The electronic part has been replaced per my warranty info and mechanic recommendation and it is still failed, meaning the main HCU is the issue. The cruise control will shut off automatically and the ABS and traction control do not work while in fault. While towing a trailer up an on ramp, the HCU went into fault causing the traction control to fail and the pick up lost traction and started sliding sideways...Luckily I was able to get it under control without crashing. This was all due to the HCU intermittent failure, causing the traction control to stop working. While this is faulted, the ABS also does not work.

I have not been involved in an accident yet. You can’t drive the truck because the warning goes every 2 minutes. The brake hydraulic control unit has failed and they will not fix the truck. I can’t pull my camper. I have at least 6 hours on the phone with Ram and they say there is nothing they can do. The dealer ship says they have the part that is on the truck now, but Ram will not allow them to install it. It’s not the new part. Mean while my truck is useless until they fix it. Pulling a travel trailer in the mountains on vacation this month my Service ABS light started coming on and off intermittently and the alarm would sound each time. Each time my cruse control would turn off and I wasn't sure if my emergency ABS brakes were going to work, or not, if I needed them to pulling my trailer with my wife in the truck. I was 1,500 mile away from home and this created a stressful circumstance for me the rest of the trip. Upon arriving home, I discovered on the web that this is a know problem with Dodge RAMs of this year model. I also saw recall notices associated with 2018 models, just one year younger than mine with the exact same symptoms. Obviously, this problem didn't get fixed for the 2018 model year. I am quite concerned that my truck may not be safe and the ABS problem needs to be addressed. I am going to pay to have it fixed, but I feel confident that a recall notice needs to be executed, and executed NOW so others dont't have to die from a problem that was known and unaddressed. Failed abs module and/or hcu. Truck is available for inspection. Loss of abs and traction control causes loss of control of truck in wet conditions when stopping or cornering. Hcu was replaced by dealer 10/12/21 @ 20,109 miles due to code c0020. (Abs pump control motor general failure) Same issue/code @ occured again @ 47,000 miles. Have not been back to dealer as the truck is out of warranty and the cost is almost $2000 for the repair. Service Abs/traction control/ electronic brake warning lights constantly go on and off and eventually stay on. This causes abs and traction control to be unreliable and is extremely dangerous on wet roads and also dangerous to other vehicles on the road.

Lights and chimes constantly signaling trouble with ABS/Traction Control system. OBD 2 indicates ABS Module failure but have read online it could also be HCU pump, a connection problem or a combination of issues. At this point the warning lights are on constantly while driving. No cruise control available. Talked to dealership and informed they are aware of the issue as it is wide spread with several models. Long back order and wait times for upgraded parts. Seems clear it is a safety issue.

The ABS warning system is constantly going off with dash warning lights and alarm, it turns off cruse control when this happens. The truck is unsafe with out the abs working and dangerous because it will turn off the cruse when the error is displayed causing unexpended deacceleration. This happens when ever the veh is driven over and over. I took it to the local ram dealership. They told me that they can not figure out what the issue is......They told me I have to leave the truck at the dealership for a week at my expense (gas and insurance and they would not be responsible for damage) so they could drive it around and "test" it they were very unhelpful, they said they never ran across this issue prior. They were very stubborn on the actual issue and would not answer questions In the mean time the dealer attempted to sell me an oil change and oil filter change for close to $1000.00 that they were very insistent on. (with less that 3000 miles on the current oil and filter change) so this was unneeded. They were using the fault to upsell service and no attempt to correct it.

The hydraulic control unit (HCU) and the anti-lock braking system (ABS) module on our truck has been triggering the warning light and bell notification for almost a year & we have yet to be able to get this repaired as the part is supposedly back-ordered (for a year?!?!?) We pull a fifth wheel with this vehicle and any sort of braking component issue is a recipe for a potentially disastrous incident on the road. We try not to drive the vehicle, but sometimes that isn't always feasible or practical. We are at a loss at this point.

I have a 2018 Dodge 3500 with 9800 miles on it.. The ABS light has come on reflecting a braking and control problem. This also shuts down the safety system within the brakes, shuts down the 4 wheel drive and cruise controls also. It is my understanding from the dealership, there is a problem with the parts within this system, and they can not get any parts released to them for repair. They also don't want to use the same parts, knowing they will only fail again. Which would fall back on them, as a repair faciality. Why hasn't the NHTSA ordered a recall on these vehicles. There are Law Suites also addressing the ABS failure and many complain on this safety failure. I see there is a recall regarding tailgates issue on some of the dodge products. Clearly the braking systems must a higher priority. We should not be required to pay for these repairs. I paid $ 70,000.00 plus for my truck!!! Now they cost in the mid $ 80 K I want feed back from the NHTSA regarding there actions, on the Dodge ABS failure. You ask a question below regarding "WAS THERE A CRASH" in this case it was a near crash. Yes I alive, due to my agility to control the vehicle only. I'm 65 and drive vehicles prior to ABS, so this played into my abilities to control the vehicle. It is now a Federal Law that all vehicles be equipped with a ABS system.. ONE THAT WORKS CORRECTLY. My truck is due a annual safety inspection by the end of this month. Its unsafe to operate my truck, and it must remained park in the garage intil someone stops draging there feet and issue the recall. Yes I am very upset, as with many others

EARLY ON (BEFORE I NOTICED A RECURRING PROBLEM), WHILE SHIFTING INTO REVERSE, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA DID NOT DISPLAY IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. AFTER SHIFTING TO FORWARD, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA DISPLAYED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR SHOWING WHAT WAS BEHIND ME DURING THE DRIVE. AFTER THAT, (OCCASIONALLY) WHILE SHIFTING INTO REVERSE, THE REAR VIEW CAMERA LOCATED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR DOES NOT DISPLAY. AFTER RESEARCHING BLOWN FUSES AND SUCH (BASIC TROUBLESHOOTING), I FOUND I HAVE TO TURN THE TRUCK IGNITION OFF AND THEN BACK ON TO GET THE DISPLAY TO WORK. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND FINDING A RECALL NUMBERED: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 18V398000, I BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD BE ADJUSTED TO REFLECT (AT A MINIMUM OF DATE OF DATE OF MANUFACTURE OF MY VEHICLE) THE 2018 RAM 3500 AND ALL OTHER VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL.

I OWN TWO OF THESE TRUCKS. THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME DESIGN FLAW. THE DEFROSTER VENTS DO NOT PLACE HEAT RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER. IF YOU ARE IN WINTER CONDITION THERE IS A VEE OF UN-DEFROSTED AREA RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER AND IF YOU DRIVE IN WINTRY FREEZING RAIN, ICE WILL BUILD UP RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE DRIVER EVEN WITH THE DEFROSTERS FULLY ENGAGED.

The Anti-Lock Brake & Electronic Braking System error caused the internal Trailer Brake system to shut off trailer brakes just like it shuts off the cruise control when warnings come up on the dashboard. The incident happened Aug 28, 2023 while following my son and my wife in a vehicle ahead of me. I had to change lanes to try to avoid something that suddenly came across in front of my vehicle. I applied the brakes and then the trailer acted like it didn't have any brakes fell over & was totaled. If this was in traffic someone could have been killed. The "Check Anti-Lock Brake System" & "Check Electronic Brake System" warnings started coming up intermittently as I drove my RAM 3500 Diesel truck starting sometime around July 2023. I drove to the local RAM dealer and told them about the problem. They acted like they had never heard of this problem and proceeded to check the error code and then stated they had never heard of this error before. They said they would check with RAM engineering on what needed to be done. They then said there were other similar RAM trucks with the same issue & that the parts were on back order. I finally got an appointment for the dealer to check my truck after sending an email to the Service Supervisor. After they checked my truck on August 16, 2023 they said that my truck needed a new Anti-Lock Brake Control Module. I had seen that many others on the internet blogs had stated that both the Anti-Lock Brake Control Module and the Hydraulic Control Module (HCM) needed to be replaced. I was then told by the service person that the Anti-Lock Brake Control Module would not be available for months (until sometime in December) and the Hydraulic Control Module (HCU) had no date of availability. They also checked with the RAM technicians at the dealership about safety driving the truck and towing a trailer until the part came in. They told me that only the Anti-Lock Brakes may not work so it would be safe to continue to drive it and tow a trailer.

HCU Issue: The ABS light coming on is the lightwill come on for two second and go off at times, through the diagnostics of the code C0020-01. It is a general electrical failureto the hydraulic control unit. The unit is replaced separate from the ABS moduel th HCU needs to be replacedfirst. In some cases, the ABS module that is bolted to the HCU needs to be replaced and programmed as well. The HCU needs replacement first. The total estimate is $1010.00 with labor. The ABS and Traction lights intermittently come on and blink non stop. Also, a "Service Antilock Brake System" and a "Service Electronic Braking System " message scrolls through the dashboard screen with an audible alarm. The truck was inspected on September 2nd of 2020 and parts 05400701- Control unit, Brake anti-lock hydraulic and part 68143491AA- Control Antilock Braking System were replaced under the manufactures warranty at 20,457 miles by Arrigo Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram ID 45724. On May 27th of 2022, once again the same parts failed and dealer ID 58821- Massey- Yardley Dodge Chrysler replaced the failed parts for a second time. The milage on the truck was 60,540 at the time of this repair. The paperwork from the dealer shows an ABS Control Unit Internal Failure. Less than a year later, on May 5, 2023 the parts failed once again (3rd time). I took the truck to dealer ID 58821- Massey- Yardley- Dodge Chrysler for inspection and repair service but I was informed that repairs were not available and that this issue was put on an engineering hold for further review since the parts continue to fail. There is no available timeline for repairs. This lack of response from the manufacturer and the flaw in design creates a safety hazard not only for my family and I but for other drivers around me since the truck breaking response is delayed at times. The truck does not break promptly and the cruise control is cancelled automatically. In addition, the trucks slows down when the message comes on in the dashboard. The problem has been addressed twice by two separate RAM dealers but the issue is not the dealer but manufacturer design. At this time (the third time) there is no solution available to address this ongoing and repetitive defect. The problem has not been resolved. I have attached a copy of all the paperwork and comments from the dealers in case they are needed.

My 2018 Ram 3500 has had a bad vibration in it since I purchased it with 20,000 miles on it. I have tried 3 different sets on tires and a new set of wheels. The vibration causes the seats, mirrors and anything not secured to shake really bad. I have taken it to 4 different shops with no luck in repairing. This has been an ongoing problem. I believe I have narrowed it down to the driveshaft, leaf springs, or the factory air suspension. Very disappointing for an $80,000 vehicle!

On May 3, 2025, while driving my 2018 RAM 2500 with approximately 46,000 miles, the check engine light came on and the engine immediately experienced a significant loss of power. The vehicle entered a limp mode condition, drastically reducing speed and acceleration. I was forced to pull into a nearby business as the truck could not maintain safe highway speeds, creating a traffic hazard and contributing to congestion. The vehicle was diagnosed by a repair facility as having a failed turbo actuator, a critical component in regulating turbo boost and engine power delivery. After researching this issue, I have found numerous similar complaints and reports from other RAM truck owners on various owner forums and websites, indicating this may be a recurring and potentially widespread defect in these vehicles. Given that this failure occurred at relatively low mileage, caused a hazardous driving condition, and seems to be a commonly reported problem, I believe this issue warrants investigation by NHTSA for potential safety risks and manufacturer accountability. No injuries or property damage occurred, but the incident posed a significant safety risk to myself and other drivers.

I had a warning message to service my DEF system. I had the truck checked at a RAM dealer who reported i need a new exhaust system. They had me wait a few days while they ordered parts. The message never reappeared and the truck is running fine. I dont understand why the dealer wanted me to replace my exhaust system when it apparently doesn't need one. The 2018 truck has only 18K miles on it.

Hello and good day, I purchased a 2018 DODGE RAM 3500 with 82k miles for $31k back in March 2024 @ Cambridge Truck located 5640 Glenn Hwy, Cambridge, OH 43725; Phone number 740-255-5200. My down payment was $8500 and my financial agreement was for $800 a month. My family and I were moving back to Connecticut and we needed a truck for all of our furniture/belongings, and for my fiancé's new landscaping business. On our way home the shifter wasn't shifting properly into gears but we still made it home, thank GOD. We contacted Capitol Garage Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM which was the closest Dodge. I brought the truck in for a diagnostic and the truck was diagnosed with a faulty/failed transmission. Parts were ordered back in July and expedited in September. I've been in contact with Cambridge Truck and I've been unsuccessful getting anywhere with Cambridge or Dodge even though I purchase an extended warranty the day of purchase. I was having a full blown anxiety attack the day of purchase as well, as I was overwhelmed. I have [XXX] and a [XXX]. I've made every payment including $400 a month for insurance for a vehicle I had on the road for a week. Not to mention I had to extend my Mercedes benz lease as I had no truck to rely on. My Mercedes mileage contract was broken and I was unable to recover my $15,000 down payment. I also had to pay $1200 in lease extension costs, and $800 for insurance. I finally had to purchase another car in October with all of had in my bank $3,700. The truck was for my fiancé's business which has been on hold for 10 mouths, another $100k we're out. This is a huge loss and I'm being ignored and offered nothing. The dealership is well aware of what I'm out as I've requested a refund several times via text to the sales team. After further investigation the 2018 Dodge RAM 3500 has many recalls since 2017. THIS TRUCK CAN'T BE FIXED, THERE'S NO REMEDY OR UPDATES AVAILABLE. I NEED A REFUND! The Bosch CP4 fuel pump internally disintegrated sending metal shavings throughout the fuel system. On the highway accelerating out of a toll both without warning, the truck lost almost all acceleration power and began to shudder. There weren't any preexisting warning lamps or messages. Any time after that when accelerating up to highway speeds quickly or attempting to maintain highway speeds the truck would lose acceleration and begin to shudder. When I took it to a mechanic, they informed me the CP4 fuel pump had "grenaded" and the whole fuel system needed to be replaced. If this had happened when merging into traffic or crossing at an intersection, I could have been hit because I couldn't accelerate as needed. The manufacturer (Ram) is aware of the malfunction and has issued recalls for the 2019 and 2020 years, but not 2018s which have the same exact part. The repairs have been completed on the truck and I have copies of the invoice.

This recall notice, was first identified in September or October, with the Official Communication issued in November of 2024. How long am I, or anyone expected to endure the nuances of this recall. We are well beyond 6 months now with no remedy, and it does not appear as if RAM\Stellantis is concerned with a fix. They've sent a disclaimer notice, but what is the resolve to a vehicle I purchased and continue to make a monthly payment towards - but you are basically telling me don't drive. Alternatively, dealership service advisors call me every six weeks to come in for a diagnostic ( not free of course ) only to say well it is related to the HCU so there isn't anything we can do right now. When\If I drive my vehicle I have to listen to a buckle your seatbelt type of alarm the entire drive. Its not only mind numbing its traumatic. Will Stellantis or Ram be forced to compensate me money I've paid monthly for a vehicle I technically can't use or shouldn't use? My complaint is to determine when this problem will be fixed and what is the NHTSA is doing to ensure my rights are protected as a consumer and what they are doing to push this manufacturer to fix this safety related issue.

On March 3rd, This dealership replaced the stop sale safety recall on our Commercial vehicle (C4B) with a part that was not created for our truck. This resulted in hydraulic brake fluid spewing out of the HCU all over significant areas under the hood, including the ABS Module and wiring. Upon realizing the HCU was spewing hydraulic brake fluid, we brought the truck back on March 7th, and again, the dealership replaced the HCU with the incorrect part (but assuring us it was the actual part for this specific recall) and Sam (service advisor) told us they would also be replacing the ABS Module and the wiring associated, as the ABS module had also been recently replaced and was still covered under warranty. When we received the car back, Sam (service advisor) explained that they would like the truck back at a later date to replace the wiring - that they have already replaced the ABS module so we will still see the ABS light, but only because the wiring needs to be redone.  We picked up our truck on Friday March 8th, and when my fiancé began his route on [XXX] with his trailer attached, he made it about 20 miles before his truck completely shut down mid-drive while on a busy road- forcing him to have to coast over a 4 lane roadway and into a ditch avoiding collision of oncoming traffic with his trailer and equipment attached. We discovered that the mechanics had fraudulently replaced our HCU with another trucks HCU and had to force the recall through Mopar's reimbursement process, as it was rejected multiple times because the remedy is not currently available therefore unable to be completed. I have attached the full story in a PDF document for further information.  Phone: [XXX] Email: [XXX] contact me for any information you may need in addition to this. A diagnostic code has been displayed for the Anti-Lock Brake System - C0020-01 —> ABS Pump Motor Control - General Electrical Failure. Going over a bump in the road will cause the ABS system to deactivate the cruise control. The diagnostic code can be cleared and the cruise control will resume. Reading on RAM / Cummins online sites, many say that either the HCU and / or ABS Module needed to be replaced and many submitted reports to the NHTSA to start an investigation. No damage has been evidenced at any of the wheel sensors. With the ABS illuminated, it appears that the unit wouldn’t function if needed. The clearing of codes has been done numerous times. First noticed in about January 2024.

Abs/traction control light. Dealer says it needs a new abs module and pump. It’s too new to have these issues, dealer states that it is not a recall and I would have to pay out of pocket ($1600) for the repairs. This is not safe at all. I live in indiana and doesn’t like stopping when the road is snow covered. Ram/chrysler needs to have this recalled immediately. This is very dangerous!!

Since purchasing this truck brand new in 2018 we have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. Dodge Ram failed us every time. They failed to work with the dealer and ignored every attempt to find solutions. It started with vehicle loosing power on very dangerous locations a specially freeway located in curves in the middle of nowhere. It took years to fix that problem. Multiple times we drove from the shop being told that it was fixed and it wasn't. We would drive right back in after 15 min. It took over 3 years to get dodge and dealer to replace the transmission and all electrical issues. The other problem that we have had since buying this truck is the AC. Its been always a problem we are continuously trying to fix it and its been very hard. This entire summer my children have been suffering. We are driving in extreme heat with zero ac and Dodge Ram can not produce part for the dealership to fix it. What is really unfair that original dealer tried again to charge us for something that it waste the problem. We would have paid for it and would have been back within an hour. The new dealer Peterson Dodge understood the problem and was honest with us that there is a lot more then a filter. It was me who requested to get a second opinion and get a way from Larry H Miller Dodge.

I was driving on the interstate highway. While driving at 60 mph towing a fifth wheel RV the front end shuddered for several seconds. Then the drivers side front wheel assembly broke off at the wheel studs. I was able to safely get to the breakdown lane. The drivers side front wheel assembly struck another vehicle traveling the oncoming lane. I was told that the vehicle that was struck was totaled. The police on scene documented the incident. The insurance representative has been notified and approved the repair. The collision repair facility documented. I also have pictures indicating broken front wheel studs.

Ram 3500 Larime Crew Cab Deisel with 47,800 miles. We were driving home from our seasonal campsite, (about a 2 hour trip on highway) and it began to rain (about 15 minutes into the trip) it continued to rain very hard at times the whole trip home. Around 30 minutes into our trip the ABS warning light, Check Engine light, & Traction Control light came on. I pulled to the shoulder of the road and waited for a lull in the rain. I then opened the hood and inspected to see if something was shorting out electrically. I couldn't see or smell anything, so we decided to continue on our way. We exited the highway and took non-highway route home. I did not notice any issues while braking or driving that concerned me enough to have it towed. I pulled the truck into the garage (under our house) and unloaded our belongings from the weekend. I went down to the garage about 2 hours later (the key fob was upstairs) when I walked behind the truck, the cargo light and interior lights came on. This didn't make sense to me because the key fob was not anywhere near the truck. It was still raining so I decided to disconnect the batteries (2 batteries on the Cummins) rather than put the truck outside in the rain. Didn't want to take the chance of burning my house down. This was the first time this has happened (7-16-2023) I research to see if anyone else had similar issues and found a considerable number of owners with this similar complaint. The vehicle has not been taken to the dealer as of this writing. Having to pull to the side of the highway during heavy rain, put my family and others at risk. Given the number of complaints that I was able to read, I would say these issues should warrant a recall.

On Sept 11, 2022, we experienced a heavy rain shower while traveling along I64 westbound in VA. My 7 year old daughter in the back seat informed me the headliner was wet in the rear driver side corner. Upon further inspection the passenger side headliner rear corner was also wet. I inspected the top of the ruck, no damage was noted and the seals all appeared to be in place. There is a Jereco High Rise cap on the bed of the truck and we were pulling a 38' travel trailer at the time. The posted speed limit was 70mph on the stretch of road where the rain was encountered, however we were traveling between 40-60 mph during the rain event. No immediate safety risk was present. However, I'm concerned water intrusion may eventually result in an electrical fire or failure of a required safety device. Should water find it's way into a hidden harness or other electrical component such as the CHMSL (VOQ 10968851) or factory subwoofer which is located below the area which leaked. The vehicle has not been inspected or repaired by a dealer as it is just out of warranty. I did report this to RAM via Ram trucks on-line owner's portal. No warning lamps, messages have been observed at this time.

UConnect 8.4 Screen Delamination - The integrated radio/communication/vehicle functions module screen is delaminating on a vast number of vehicles. The repair according to RAM dealerships is a complete replacement of the screen and the controller at a cost of nearly $2000 per vehicle. While initially most believe this to be a radio issue the systems are integrated to multiple functions of the vehicle including: front and rear cameras, front and rear parking sensors, ride height controls, HVAC controls, seating controls, and a number of other systems. It also includes access to a number of phone systems including emergency calling. Due to the integrated nature of this equipment a major recall should be conducted on affected systems and also a forced reimbursement to owners of vehicles that have had to pay out of pocket for repairs or diagnostics. In addition, the delamination seems to be causing a leaking substance to drip down into other controls such as the Exhaust Brake, Trailer Brake Controls, and other physical buttons. It is my belief this is becoming a safety issue as the delamination is causing phantom key presses on various systems including setting volume of audio at 100% randomly.

WHEN HITTING BUMPS OR UNEVEN PAVEMENT AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH THE TRUCK WILL SOMETIMES START SHUDDERING AND VIBRATING VIOLENTLY ALMOST CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT DOES NOT DO IT ON ALL BUMPS OR ROUGH ROADS. IT SEEMS TO BE MORE FREQUENT WHEN HITTING A BUMP IN A CURVE OR HITTING A BUMP WITH FIRST ONE WHEEL THEN THE OPPOSITE WHEEL HITS ONE. IT DOES THIS LOADED OR UNLOADED AND HAS DONE IT WHILE PULLING A 16000 POUND FIFTH WHEEL RV. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 16000 MILES ON IT AND HAS DONE IT ABOUT 10 TIMES SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. I HAVE IT BACK IN THE SHOP AT A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND HAVE STARTED A TICKET WITH CHRYSLER. SO FAR THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING.
