Vehicle only has 58,983 miles and already has a failing transmission. Dealership recommends full transmission replacement costing $8,000.00. I am not even done with the monthly payments and I am currently in financial burden. PLEASE HELP ME

My transmission is going out. I bought this car brand new back in 2019. I am at 80k miles. It is available for inspection upon request. No light has came on, but there has been a loud whining noise whenever I press on the accelerator. I took it into a shop and they said my transmission is going to go out any time now.. My safety could have been put at risk because no light has came on with a warning. It's only been seen by the shop I took it to.

Transmission problems. Transmission makes whining noises and jerks. The car only has 56k miles on it. After doing research, a lot of people are having this issue and Toyota is not doing any types of recalls on this. I paid for a "reliable" car, but this car is far from it, not safe to drive. Dealer quoted around $10K to change transmission. What a disappoitment from Toyota.

Car was on freeway on an on ramp going 50 accelerating to 75 when suddenly car’s power converter gave out and car had no power. Prior to this the car worked fine and no issues or warning lights ever appeared related to the problem. This not only puts the driver and their passengers at danger but also the traffic around them. The dealership I took the car to confirmed the torque converter but was unable to pull codes from the odb2, however multiple smaller shops further confirmed that was the issue as well. They also further provided error codes where the official Toyota dealer wasn’t able to

Total Transmission failed putting our safety at risk on a busy highway. Problem has been taken care of by an Independant Service Center. The car would not switch gears on acceleration to merge with traffic on the interstate and made a horrible noise and Check Engine light came on. $6000 later and week without a car, it is fixed. Our previous Toyotas NEVER gave us as many problems as this model. We are so disappointed and regret our purchase. Friends say " Buy a Toyota...they last forever...NOT !!" This is one of the worst models ever. A 5 yr old car with low mileage should not have a transmission blow. Transmission specialist told us many are putting in complaints of the same situation with same model but not enough yet to cause a Recall...IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. Makes me reconsider ever purchasing a Toyota again.

It started happening in the past month. We stopped at a gas station to get gas and after filling up the car doesn't want to start. It does start eventually after 4-5 tries. Then it's ok for a while. On 8/17 it did the same thing except once we put it in park the light engine came on. I cleared the codes and drove it again about 200 miles stopped to get gas and it happened again. I took it to the dealer and they said it might be the battery. I put a new battery and it seemed to be fine until the next day, 8/21. I stopped to get gas and after I filled up it would not start again, except this time the light engine did not turn on. The dealer is not sure what it is. From doing research there was a fuel pump recall for 2018-2020 camrys although my car was not included in it, from looking at the symptoms I have come to the conclusion that it might be a faulty fuel pump.

2019 Camry --> Toyota has customer support program 24TE04 notification for problem with bad flow shut off valve. Problems are engine maintenance light and A/C not functioning properly. This vehicle was purchased new and currently has 3350 miles. The A/C has not functioned properly since purchased. Bredeman Toyota in Park Ridge, IL contacted and appt. scheduled for 4/12/25. The service dept. advised a diagnostic fee of $170.000 would be charge. Toyota contacted about this since the vehicle should be under recall for this problem that could cause the vehicle to overheat. Case #[XXX] provided. I rec'd a call back 4/04/25 from dealership Serv. Mgr. Mike Cooper. Diagnostic charge would not be waived even though I was told they have replaced this part on numerous vehicles for the past three (3) years. I don't understand why Toyota hasn't been told to recall for this problem. Please consider taking this action against the Mfg. Two weeks prior, car began rough idling at stop-lights, intermittently. Then one morning, after refueling, the car sputtered and failed to start. The MIL light came on, with display warnings: “Charging System Malfunction” and Steering Power Low”. Car eventually started and barely made it to Carlsbad (CA) Toyota. DTC code pulled was P0171: “System Too Lean Bank 1”. It was diagnosed with low or leaking high-pressure reading for the high-pressure fuel rail. They replaced all four high-pressure direct injectors. However, idle roughness persisted until they replaced the canister purge valve. Car has only used Costco top-tier fuel. Injectors should not have failed at 47,000 miles; likely defective. Fuel pump was replaced years ago under recall, and I was told that fuel pump pressure was fine.

I brought my car in for the safety recall, and have been experiencing a failed fuel gauge recently. Whenever I fill my gas tank, the gas gauge has trouble going down when I drive. Because of this, I have to keep track of how many miles I drive so that I don't risk driving on an empty tank. I also have been experiencing vehicle stalls when I drive. I brought my car to a local Toyota shop to run a diagnosis and it has been reported that I have a failed "recalibration" and need to replace the fuel gauge. My vehicle does not show any warning lights/signs.

The vehicle has experienced ongoing engine misfire issues while driving. The check engine light illuminated, and diagnostic testing identified a cylinder misfire (P0302). The vehicle shakes, runs rough, and has reduced power, especially during acceleration. These symptoms create a safety concern, as the loss of power and engine instability could affect the ability to safely merge, accelerate, or maintain speed in traffic. The issue has been confirmed by diagnostic scans performed by an independent service center. The problem appears to be persistent and not consistent with normal wear for a vehicle of this age and mileage. No collision has occurred, but the condition poses an ongoing safety risk while operating the vehicle. The issue has not yet been resolved by the manufacturer.

At 55,000 miles - 6 years and 6 months, the check engine light came on and car temp jumped to "off the chart high". The water pump had failed and head gasket had blown.

2019 Toyota Camry VIN: [XXX] Issue: Blown head gasket and required engine replacement Mileage at failure: 116,598 approximately Mileage I am filing this complaint due to a sudden and significant engine failure in my 2019 Toyota Camry. Despite regular service at certified Toyota dealerships only things wasn’t serviced at the dealership was my brakes and tires, and a transmission flush in September 27, 2024. Other than that my recent visit to Bulter Toyota was March 21st 2025 which included a $334.17 maintenance visit in March 2025 and my car was good at the time I was told. Now a month later [XXX] my vehicle experienced a blown head gasket with no prior warning or indication of trouble just a check engine light one day [XXX] it never overheated. The issue was diagnosed on April 21, 2025 at Bulter Toyota. Currently renting a car from Bulter Toyota for $42.00 a day my car has been there for 9days The dealership has stated that the engine must be replaced at a cost of $5,335. Additionally, the technician made a concerning statement suggesting my car “looked like it had been in an accident,” even though the vehicle has never been in any collision. This further raised questions about internal defects or manufacturing issues. Toyota Corporate has been contacted, is currently conducting an internal investigation into this matter. However, I am submitting this complaint to NHTSA to ensure it is formally documented outside of Toyota’s internal review process. This is especially important given the pattern of similar complaints involving 2019 Toyota Camrys with the 2.5L 4-cylinder engine, including reports of overheating, coolant leaks, and head gasket failures. I am requesting a full investigation into potential defects related to engine performance and safety in 2019 Toyota Camry models. Check engine light went on and the car’s temperature gage started going up rapidly. Pulled to the side of the road and turned the car off. The problem was the electric water pump and Thermostat which I bought at Toyota parts, the car only has 29,090 miles on it.

I had just gotten off work and turned on my car. I put my seatbelt on and that's when a message popped up on my dash saying "SRS Airbag System Malfunction. Visit Your Dealer". I was a bit concerned and worried and so when I started driving home, it still displayed that message and it started to beep as I drove more. It also makes it seem like my seat belt isn't buckled even when it was. I had gotten it checked out at a mechanic and they say it has to do with the driver seat belt buckle.

On [XXX], I was involved in a high-speed T-bone collision with a FedEx truck while driving my 2019 Toyota Camry SE (VIN: [XXX] ). Despite the severity of the crash — which totaled my vehicle, caused the windshield to crack, and resulted in my head slamming into the steering wheel — none of the vehicle’s airbags deployed, including the driver’s front airbag. As a direct result of this failure, I sustained head trauma and neurological symptoms. A CT scan taken immediately after the crash revealed a previously undiagnosed 11–12mm partially thrombosed brain aneurysm, which is now causing ongoing vision problems, speech issues, memory loss, and loss of balance. Upon researching known defects, I discovered that my vehicle had a recall for an improperly calibrated Occupant Classification System (OCS) that may prevent airbag deployment — recall #K0M, issued in 2019. I never received any notification of this defect from Toyota. The fact that no airbags deployed in a crash this severe clearly points to a critical safety system failure. I believe this failure greatly worsened my injuries and created long-term health risks that would not exist had the safety systems worked as designed. I am requesting a full investigation and am pursuing a claim for product liability and manufacturer negligence. This complaint is part of a formal record to hold Toyota accountable and protect other drivers from similar harm. While driving my SRS warning light came on along with a non stop buzzing alarm. In looking up the icon in my manual it stated malfunctioning in SRS airbag system, seek immediate attention from your dealer. I had a passenger in the front of the car when this happened. There were no prior problems. For my safety and passenger I pulled into the nearest Toyota dealership for this safety related defect. I wasn't sure if my airbags would deploy if in an accident. The dealership's diagnosrics test also showed an issue with the driver seat buckle.

The contact owned a 2019 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at 15 MPH, the contact's daughter was involved in a collision. Another driver ran a stop sign at 30 MPH and crashed into the front passenger side of the vehicle causing the front wheel to detach. The air bags did not deploy.  A police report was filed. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. At the time of the impact, the driver hit her head on the glass. The driver sustained neck, back, wrist, and head injuries that required medical attention involving CT scan, MRI, and x-rays. No other people were injured.  The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

On March 13th, 2024, while pulling into the driveway and lightly accelerating due to the slight incline of the driveway, the accelerator pedal fell from under my foot. The car accelerated hard, plowing through the garage door, a washer/dryer unit, a storage rack and into the back wall of the garage. The car bounced back but was still accelerating, leaving marks from the tire spinning in the garage. The brakes were ineffective in stopping the vehicle. After hitting the wall I was able to shut the car off using the key. The airbags did not deploy. Note: The car has molded OEM floormats that were secure at the time of the accident. The vehicle was towed to a body shop and the insurance company declared the vehicle a total loss.

unsafe condition , throttle becomes unresponsive intermittently no response right after starting the engine , no messages on dash to alert driver like reduced power or any CHECK ENGINE LIGHT that will show a component DTC , vehicle has been twice at the dealer ship with no fix results, last time the computer was reprogramed but problem not corrected , they claim not be able to recreate condition , I am concern this may happen while the vehicle is driven changin lanes or passing other car.

Throttle pedal becomes unresponsive right after starting the car at times , I am concern this may happen while driving , dealership claims they can not reproduce the problem , second time back to the dealership the reprogramed the engine computer but problem continues, car is not cover under warranty , it is a 2019 Camry LE with 2.5 engine , they claim not been able to find the cause of the problem. car has only 32,000 miles , and gradually the problem is becoming more often , can led to an accident.

INTERMITTENTLY THE CAR WILL LURCH AHEAD. THIS IS UPON START FROM A STANDING START AND ALSO ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ACCELERATING. OUR SERVICE WRITER SAID THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS BUT THAT IS JUST THE WAY IT IS. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR ACT THIS WAY BEFORE AND I THINK IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. Car will not start. Instruments indicated brake system failure. Brakes are mushy. Brake fluid reservoir is full. VIN does not appear to be included in the recall for this model and year relating to brake system pump failures. However, that does appear to be the problem. 46,000 miles on vehicle.

My 2019 Toyota Camry started to show an alert during driving which stated that the "break power is low" and to go to a dealer. This started on 9/9/24. I also noticed difficulty stopping the car at times. I took the car to local Toyota dealership and they diagnosed issue with brake booster requiring replacement. It seems there was a recall for some 2019 Toyota Camrys for a similar brake issue, although my car was not included in this recall.

4 days ago, after driving about an hour, I got an alert that said low braking power. This was after I had tuned my vehicle off to go into convenience store for a few minutes, then went through drive thru and got back in the road when it first alerted me. I took a picture of the alerts that popped up. I immediately changed direction and drove less than 10 miles to Tuscaloosa Toyota. They found no fault codes. I drove the car the next day with no alerts. 3rd day, it popped on and back off a few times. Today it came on after about an hour, this time while I was applying brakes, then would disappear. They diagnosed the issue and informed me of the below needed repair… Brake - Hydraulic Brake Booster Pump: BRAKE BOOSTER NO HOLDING VACUUM $1,274.73 I am aware that there were some recalls associated with this for my year model that did not involve my VIN. Hoping to get more information on the recall.

ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR BOARD WHEN TRYING TO STOP. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES 2 TO 3 TIMES TO BUILD PRESSURE TO COME TO A STOP. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, ONLY FOR THEM TO TELL ME THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE MY CONCERNS. EVEN THOUGH I TOLD THEM IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY. IT'S NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE EASILY DUPLICATED. On multiple occasions, when I accelerate — even lightly — the transmission of my 2019 Toyota Camry emits a persistent whining noise. The noise appears as I press the accelerator and increases in pitch and volume as I continue accelerating. As soon as I ease off the accelerator, the whining stops immediately. This behavior happens during normal driving — not under extreme conditions or aggressive driving — and regardless of speed (both city and highway conditions). This whining noise is not a normal transmission behavior for a properly functioning vehicle. I believe this indicates a possible defect or problem with the transmission (or transmission-related components) rather than wear-and-tear due to high mileage or neglect, because: •The vehicle has been regularly maintained (oil changes, scheduled maintenance, etc.). •I have not abused the transmission, used it for towing, nor driven in severe off-road conditions. •The noise occurs under normal acceleration and is reproducible. I am concerned for my safety and the safety of others, because a failing transmission — or a transmission with design/manufacturing defect — could lead to unexpected shifting issues, loss of power, or other mechanical failure while driving. According to a safety-watchdog summary of NHTSA data, there are 338 complaints submitted to NHTSA for 2019 Toyota Camry models.

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving 25-30 MPH, the transmission slipped out of gear. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure progressively worsened. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle failed to accelerate properly or exceed 15 MPH, and the vehicle stalled in the middle of the highway. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned off the vehicle. The contact restarted the vehicle after an extended period. The contact resumed driving, but the failure recurred. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the nearby residence with assistance. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with transmission failure. The contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. The VIN was unavailable.

I started hearing a "noise" over the course of 2 weeks. When the accelerator was depressed, the vehicle never accelerated. The vehicle also seemed as though it was losing power, but no lights ever came on. I have only taken my vehicle to the dealership to be serviced. The maintenance has been done regularly and without fail. When I brought the car in for regular maintenance I had them check for the noise and they said they didn't find anything. I took a video before leaving for work the following day, and brought the car back. Because it sounded it was coming from the wheel well they charged me for a diagnostic and said one of the plates for my brakes was bent. The following day it was still making the same noise, but when I went to accelerate the car shut off in the middle of a major highway and then the check engine lights started flashing. I took it back to the dealership and they claimed it was an air flow component, said it would be repaired, and kept the car for 5 days. After the repair, it was still making the "noise" and that is when they said it was the transmission and I would be responsible for the repair. This happened at 150,098 miles. Needless to say, I will not be paying for that repair. I believe this is a Toyota issue and the customer, especially one who has been religious in maintenance and upkeep, should not have to bear the cost of a their design failure. I was also told although in the maintenance manual, Toyota has decided against flushing the transmission because it is sealed. No warning lights, messages, or anything of the sort ever appeared until the check engine light came on.

My fuel line came out while I was driving and almost cause my car to catch fire. Which caused my check engine light and other sensors to come on. FUEL PUMP SHOWED UP ON THE RECALL WHICH WOULD MAKE SENSE TO WHY I'M EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES, THE ENGINE IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS. The contact was informed of additional repairs that were needed to be performed on the vehicle. The contact later went back to the dealer and inquired about trading the vehicle. The dealer provided the Carfax report to the contact. The contact stated that according to the Carfax report, the latest odometer reading was reported at 297,742. The contact stated that when the vehicle was purchased, the advertisement indicated that the mileage was 112,000. The contact reviewed the Title of the vehicle and noticed that the odometer mileage reading on the Title was 197,742. The seller was not made aware of the issue. The contact attempted to contact the seller, but there was no response.

Driving along, went to pass someone and the ICS malfunction came on, reduce speed and visit dealer. The Camry had no “juice”. It shook. I put on emergency lights and drove on the side of the road. Pulled over and turned off car. Turned back on and there were no warning lights on. I drove to Toyota dealership and they diagnosed it as “ignition coil” was bad and it had misfired that’s why the malfunction light came on. Needless to say, the car has 39,005 miles on it!!!

Unknown cause with no prior symptoms. Multiple alerts including pre-collision system malfunction, ICS system malfunction , parking brake malfunction. Malfunctions occurred while driving, with reduction of engine power and engagement of electronic parking brake forcing vehicle to immediately stop. Was able to turn off all collision avoidance systems and electronically disengage the parking brake to allow the vehicle to be moved to safety. Vehicle seemed to be electronically limited to 40mph.

2019 Camry se would not accelerate and rpm’s would escalate without making car move. Car has had complete maintenance on a regular basis. There have been no prior lights on or alerts until my son’s car stalled in traffic almost leading to side collision. Once it was plugged up to computer shows faulty transmission (complete transmission failure) and engine coolant bypass valve which I know has a TBS report on yet my local dealership refuses to do anything with it unless they charge me to hook up to their computer first and deny any issues with this car. I have read hundred of others with the same complaint and numerous lawsuits yet Toyota refuses to recall and fix the faulty transmissions in these vehicles. Something needs to be done before someone is killed, as my son could have been when his car stalled in middle of traffic and transmission failed with no prior warnings.

Driving down [XXX] in Ohio, electrical components in the car started flashing and the check engine light came on. "Charging malfunction" something or other and it also said "steering power low". Then the car completely shutoff and I had to coast to the shoulder. It was then towed and is at a local shop. It's a 2019 with 75,000 miles - this should not have happened. I saw the 2020 Camry 2.5 liter recall for a crack in the engine, it would not surprise me if that is also what happened to my car. The wiper doesn’t operate fast enough in the fastest setting to move the rain from the drivers view in heavy rain. Driver is forced to reduce speed to 40 mph which is dangerous on an interstate. Also, the passenger side wiper pushes the water from 3/4 of the windshield into the drivers view. This is widely discussed on Toyota forums but no motor upgrade is offered that make the wipers move faster. Florida storms require faster settings to see vehicles and the roadway.

Vehicle sunroof exploded while driving home from work. The interior sunroof screen was 90% closed causing only a few pieces of glass to fall into the car striking myself while driving. When the incident occurred, it sounded like a shotgun going off over my head causing me to duck and swerve almost into another vehilce on the road. This is the second such incident involving this car and it happened on the exact same road within a half a mile of the previous incident 3 years earlier. No rocks or debris caused this. Possible elevation change due to going uphill on hwy. Insurance claim has been initiated. There were no warning signs of this.

A Tire Bridgestone Turanza EL 440 size 235/4019 with 37000 miles had a catastrophic failure despite being inflated correctly. Neither did the tire hit anything. We feel this is a safety concern as within a few seconds the tire came apart on both sides completely. See pics. I noticed that other Toyotas made that year has almost the same tire that has been recalled. Tire basically disintegrated too by crumbling.. Thank you

I keep getting Steering Power Low. Visit your Dealer message. There no mechanical issues such as engine getting stopped or steering getting locked. But this is scary situation while you are driving in the highway. I went to the dealer there was no code that they could find related to this issue. I am just afraid that if something happens while I am driving and sterring suddenly locks or engines stops in the middle of busy highway. I got this message around 3 times.

You absolutely can not pull out in traffic because the car has a horrible lag, it’s as if it stalls at initial acceleration. Whether it’s pulling out of a side street, setting off from a stop light, or occasionally while already moving and speeding up. When stepping on the vehicle’s accelerator pedal, there was a lag of around five seconds or so before the vehicle started to accelerate at all. Yes it’s available for inspection upon request. The safety issue is the car can kill you at any moment but you never know when! The dealer has “fixed” the issue once already with a recall. The vehicle has not been inspected again because you never know when it will happen and they think they already fixed the issue! Initially I got warning lights before the recall and had the vehicle towed 3 times in the first month of owning it for its problem. Now it just does the same stuff without warning lights and hasn’t broken down yet.

We had our fuel pump replaced in March 2021 by recall on our 2019 Camry. Four months later, at 70 mph on the interstate, the engine cut out several times with the engine jerking on and off. Also, we had multiple malfunctions and warning lights on dash which included but were not limited to LDA Malfunction, Pre-collision system malfunction, secondary brake system malfunction, check engine light on and reduced cruise control malfunction. We were lucky and managed to get off the road without getting hit from behind. We got off the interstate and managed to get home in "limp mode" with the engine cutting out another 4-5 times. On July 16, 2021, the dealer installed a second fuel pump after they reproduced the problem and verified the pump installed in March, 2021 was the problem. The mechanic said the defective fuel pump would be returned to Toyota for them to cut open and examine. There were no messages or symptoms prior to this failure with multiple warning lamps and malfunction messages appearing as the fuel pump failed. Spouse now will not drive the car and I do not trust it.

I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALER IN JUNE OF 2020 AND WAS UNAWARE OF ANY ONGOING RECALLS OR THAT ANY REQUIRED SERVICE HAD NOT BEEN COMPLETED. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING, ENGINE SHAKING, MISFIRING, AND LOSS OF FORWARD MOMENTUM. NOT ONCE DID THEY TELL ME ABOUT THE RECALL OR THAT TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT AUTOMOTIVE SHOP. THE NEW SHOP GAVE ME ALL THE RECALL INFORMATION AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE ENGINE WILL SPUTTER AND SHAKE IN IDLE AND IN REVERSE. CONSISTENTLY THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND RUNS VERY ROUGH WHEN IN IDLE, REVERSE OR ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM STOP LIGHTS, RED LIGHTS, PARKING LOTS, ETC. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT I WASN'T USED TO THE ELECTRONIC FUEL IGNITION AND THAT THE SPUTTERING AND DELAY IN FORWARD MOMENTUM WAS NORMAL. ONE TIME I WAS DRIVING 65MPH AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE ON A ISLAND CAUSEWAY. LUCKILY I WAS IN THE RIGHT HAD LANE AND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. ANOTHER TIME THE VEHICLE STALLED WAS IN A PARKING LOT (AGAIN SLOW SPEED) AND AGAIN IN REVERSE. THE VEHICLE DID SUSTAIN RODENT DAMAGE TO WIRING ON 2 OCCASIONS WHICH THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED, NOTED THE MULTIPLE ENGINE MISFIRES AND "CLEARED THE CODES". THE VEHICLE RAN BETTER FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN THE SAME PROBLEM BEGINS REOCCURRING. THE SPARK PLUGS CONTINUE TO FOUL DUE TO THE ENGINE FUEL PRESSURE ISSUE.

The transaxle (transmission) failed on my 2019 Toyota Camry, causing a complete loss of power while driving. This is part of the power train system. The vehicle is currently at Toyota of North Austin for inspection and repair. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? While driving, my car suddenly lost power and stalled in the middle of an intersection. I was unable to pull over, leaving my vehicle stranded in traffic. Other cars almost hit me, creating a major safety hazard. I was panicked and scared, and the failure could have resulted in a serious accident. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. Toyota of North Austin diagnosed the issue and confirmed a transmission (transaxle) failure, recommending a full replacement. Toyota has refused goodwill assistance, leaving me with an expensive repair bill. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by Toyota of North Austin, and they confirmed the transmission failure. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. Shortly before the failure, the check engine light came on. However, there were no other warning signs or messages indicating an immediate issue. The vehicle suddenly lost power while driving. The only related maintenance was a transmission fluid change at Toyota of North Austin on 11/22/24, but there were no immediate signs of failure at that time.

Drivers rear bumper just "fell off" bolts/ felt not staying in place. Resulted in bumper drag on ground and could have been a possible injury to fellow drivers. No warnings or messages appeard. A car beside me at the light pointed to me that the bumper just fell off. Luckily there was a Ford Dealer around the corner who zip tied the bumper on for me until I got home. The gentleman said in his 25 years in body work he has never seen this happen. He stated multiple bolts were missing under neath and didnt appear to be holding the bumper/felt on. Reported to my sales lady and showed pictures. She was to have dealership contact me but no one did. Paid $997 to have it replaced but the felt doesnt appear to still stay bolted to the rear bumper. The vehichle was inspected prior to purchase but no one ever returned my concern from the Dealership.

SEVERAL TIMES WHILE DRIVING WEST, INTO AN AFTERNOON SUN, I HAVE EXPERIENCED A BLINDING SUN REFLECTION FROM THE BACK SECTION OF THE HOOD. THE STYLING OF THE HOOD CREATES A BLINDING SUN GLARE. THE LAST 1 625 INCHES OF THE HOOD IS AT A NEGATIVE PLANE. THE ARCH OF THE REAR SECTION OF THE HOOD, COMBINED WITH THE NEGATIVE PLANE, INTENSIFIES SUN REFLECTION TO AN UNSAFE LEVEL. THE REFLECTION OF THE SUN INTO THE DRIVERS EYES HAS A BLINDING EFFECT AND OBLITERATES THE HEADS UP DISPLAY.

The check engine light came on first then as I was driving a couple days later my car begin to run hot and make a loud noise under the hood. The Engine coolant light came with stop the vehicle. The meter reached the Hot line. The car begin to lose power. I pulled over and checked under my hood it appears as though my coolant reservoir had splash back look. Left car parked for several hours until it cooled down went back to pick it up from parking lot and as I begin to drive it slowly rose back up to the H on gauge.

Note - three similar incidents within 20 minutes. Incident 1 - When pulling out of a parking lot and into traffic my 2019 Camry lost power and would not accelerate. It took me several seconds trying to figure out what was happening. I first thought engine stalled but that was not the case. I noticed a message pop up (and quickly disappear) on the dash display saying to "release the accelerator pedal" (may not be exact wording of the message as it happened very quickly). I took my foot off the accelerator pedal for a few seconds and then was able to regain acceleration control. When first starting to pull out of the parking lot the vehicle accelerated normally. I originally had more than ample time to pull out into the traffic but after the incident cars were stopping behind me as I was coasting. I had all other control (steering and braking). Incident 2 - (Five minutes after incident 1) When doing a slow easy U-turn, my Camry lost power and would not accelerate. Again my first thought was that the engine stalled but that was not the case. A message popped up (and quickly disappeared) on the dash display but I had no time to read it as I was trying to get out of traffic. I believe it was similar to "release the accelerator pedal". I took my foot off the accelerator pedal for a couple of seconds and then was able to regain acceleration control. Incident 3 - (about 5 minutes after incident 2). When pulling into the center turn lane from the normal travel lane, my Camry lost power and would not accelerate. I first thought the engine stalled but again that was not the case. I noticed a much longer message pop up (and quickly disappear) on the dash display but I had no time to read it. I took my foot off the accelerator pedal for a couple of seconds and then was able to regain acceleration control.

On three separate occasions the Pre Collision System has inappropriately activated while driving at high speeds. It seems to occur during dusk/dark and when it is raining. Two out of the three times it applied the brake, which easily could have resulted in an accident. I inspected the wiring for one of the sensors underneath the hood which appears fine. The sensors were cleaned off in all of these instances.

The car randomly slams on the brakes even when you aren’t near anything. Yes it’s available for inspection. The safety problem is you could be rear ended at any time when this occurs. My husband was driving on the freeway at high speeds when it happened one time. The other incidents happened to me thankfully at a slower speed but while moving on the road. Also while pulling out or into parking spots. I know it is a safety feature so you don’t hit things but I know how to drive and when I can back up safely without it slamming the brakes on. It has not been inspected and there were no warning lights indicating something was wrong.

My 2019 has an acceleration delay issue. I have taken it in to get it checked, and Toyota says that it checks out according to their standards. However, the issue has never gone away, and I have had to learn how to drive and accommodate this severe and dangerous safety issue. When I press the acceleration pedal, there is a delay when I'm at a complete stop or in the low gears. I try to make sure that I do not get into a situation where I may need to accelerate quickly to avoid an accident, and I pray that I never find myself needing to accelerate quickly. Unfortunately, it's been an ongoing issue, and Toyota does not recognize it nor offer to fix it.

MY CAR, SINCE THE PURCHASE AT 51 MILES, IS CONSTANTLY NOT ACCELERATING WHEN I PUSH THE GAS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO ALLEN TOYOTA, 11 JULY 2020, WHERE THEY STATED THERE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CALIBRATION. THE CALIBRATION WAS COMPLETED, BUT THE CAR IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. ONCE THE CAR HAS BEEN IN PARK AND STATIONARY FOR A FEW HOURS, IT IS AWFUL WHEN TAKING OFF BECAUSE THE CAR JERKS AND ACTS AS IF IT WILL TURN OFF. THE CAR NOW IS JERKING WHEN DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH DAILY. THIS IS DANGEROUS SINCE I CANNOT DEPEND ON THE CAR TO SPEEDUP WHEN AND AS NEEDED AND I'M AFRAID IT MY STALL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

OTHER TIMES, THERE WILL BE AN ACTUAL PERSON SITTING IN THE BACKSEAT WITHOUT THEIR SEATBELT ON AND THE SYSTEM WILL NOT WARN ME WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ANNOYING. IF I'M DRIVING ALONE AND THE SEAT BELT WARNING BEGINS TO GO OFF THERE IS NO WAY FOR ME TO DISABLE IT UNLESS I PULL OVER AND BUCKLE IN THE SEAT BELTS. While traveling at interstate speeds (about 68 MPH) a vehicle in front of me (about 6 car lengths ahead) hit a pickup truck. I hit the brakes and then my car's auto braking system was activated (displaying on the dashboard) but it did not feel like my car was slowing down. I then proceeded to push the break all the way to the floorboard and my car did not slow down causing me to hit the vehicle in front of me. It felt like the auto-breaking system was preventing me from applying full braking power. When I pushed the break petal to the floor it felt like I was pushing on air. There was no resistance on the petal as there normally would be. There were no skid marks on the road and after the impact, my vehicle would not move. I had to put the car in park and then back into drive to move off the road.

The lane assist is turned off, but it continues to operate against my wishes. I turned the lane assist on and off numerous occasions in an attempt to “reboot “ it. But the lane departure assist is still continuously on even when the dashboard indicates it is turned off. It is clearly an electrical or software problem.

this afternoon we had 3 safety incidents in a row as we were driving from Austin to San Antonio. Our Camry suddenly lost power while we were on the highway, driving 70 miles an hour, when multiple warning lights came up and the car information screen said "secondary collision brake system malfunction, visit your dealer" when this occurred the car suddenly lost power and decelerated. We had to pull over and find a safe spot to park. Doing so was dangerous because the car was barely moving forward. for the first incident, we turned the car off and we let it sit for 5 minutes. when we turned the car back on, the error code disappeared. About 25 minutes later the same thing happened at highway speed. We parked, turned the car off, disconnected the battery and waited 5 minutes, on restarting the error code disappeared. After another 25 minutes on I-35 the car did it again. These were scary and dangerous events on the highway. We were fortunate to be able to pull over each time this happened. We were afraid and did not understood why. After the third incident, we were able to drive 1 hour without the malfunction reoccurring. In our internet research this seems to be a wide spread problem of modern Toyota. Please for the safety of the American driving public, please investigate this widespread problem.

Firstly I have experienced some weird behavior when accelerating from a stop and the vehicle quickly ramped up the rpm over 5k without shifting at all until correcting itself at the speed I was desiring. I wasn't stepping hard on the pedal at all and was just trying to get to 30 mph. Additionally I experienced some hard shifting when accelerating abruptly as well. Making the acceleration not very smooth when passing someone in high speed traffic.

THEY ALSO SAID THE CAR IS "LEARNING", WHICH IS TOTALLY BOGUS. THE VIEW THROUGH THE UPPER PART IS TOTALLY DARK AS IF OBSTRUCTED BY AN OBJECT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE AND IT PLACES MYSELF AND OTHERS AT RISK OF DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE REPORTED BY OTHERS ONLINE AND I AM UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THE FACT THAT NHTSA HAS NOT INFORMED ME OF THIS PROBLEM NOR HAS TAKEN ANY ACTION TO CORRECT IT.

Component/System failed: The electronic control module (ECM) and related wiring were compromised by a dealer-installed Lojack anti-theft system. The device was spliced into wiring near the airbag system and ECM, causing repeated faults. The component remains in the vehicle and is available for inspection. Safety risks: 1. Wiring near airbags may interfere with deployment. 2. ECM faults risk stalling, loss of power, or emissions failure. 3. Hidden wiring increases short-circuit risk, especially near coolant areas. 4. These conditions place driver and passenger safety at risk. Problem confirmation & inspections: The issue has been reproduced in multiple dealer visits. One Toyota dealer identified the improper Lojack installation as the likely root cause. Service records are available. Warning lamps: Yes. Check engine lights and warning messages appeared within months of purchase and continue intermittently. Summary: The car was sold as a Toyota Gold Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) vehicle, advertised as thoroughly inspected and protected. In reality, it contained an undisclosed modification that created hidden defects, repeated ECM errors, and safety concerns. Concern: The ECM is covered by the 8-year/80,000-mile federal emissions warranty and the 7-year/100,000-mile Gold CPO warranty. Yet Toyota denied my arbitration claim as “ineligible.” If such cases are refused, it means dealers can install aftermarket systems, charge buyers, and avoid accountability. In that situation, the Toyota Gold CPO program becomes meaningless—a consumer deception rather than protection. Request: I respectfully ask NHTSA to investigate whether dealer-installed systems like Lojack pose systemic safety risks and whether Toyota’s warranty and arbitration processes are adequately protecting consumers.

I have a code on my car that states " malfunction in the electronic control of the engine, throttle or automatic transmission has been detected". The car stalled while crossing Hwy 231 in Pike County, Alabama and left me powerless in oncoming traffic that was moving at 80+ miles per hour. It finally grabbed some power to let me finish crossing but it was a very close call. I had to have the tires replaced, since that time the tire pressure sensors no longer work. Which to me is unbelievable. The cost for that is $360.00 or probably more from the dealer.

The vehicle is experiencing multiple active safety system failures, severely impacting driver control and passenger protection. The most critical issue is a persistent SRS airbag malfunction warning, along with the system failing to detect that the seatbelt is buckled, even when properly latched. This disables key safety systems such as airbags and seatbelt pretensioners. The vehicle also suffers from delayed or weak braking response, despite having adequate brake pad wear. This is especially dangerous in stop-and-go traffic or emergency braking scenarios. In addition, the adaptive cruise control system intermittently disengages or fails to maintain distance, and the brake hold feature does not reliably hold the vehicle when stopped, causing rollback or unintended movement. These issues are consistent with known failure conditions already documented in the following recalls: – NHTSA Recall 21V-890 – Brake booster vacuum pump failure – NHTSA Recall 19V567000 – Occupant Classification System calibration error However, Toyota has refused to acknowledge these defects in this case because the vehicle does not fall under the original recall VIN ranges. This creates a serious safety concern, as the same defective behavior exists outside the recalled population, and is being left unaddressed. This not only places me at risk of airbag and braking failure, but puts other drivers and pedestrians at great danger due to the potential for system failure during high-risk moments such as highway driving, stoplight braking, or crash avoidance maneuvers. A broader investigation into the root cause and expansion of the affected VIN scope is urgently needed before serious injury or loss of life occurs

On [XXX], I began experiencing trouble wiht my vehicle; speeding up, slowing down, turning, all of my safety display lights began to flash, and the display was showing several different malfunctions, advising me to visit my dealer. Prior to [XXX], there were not any warning lamps, messages, nor symptoms that presented suspicion of safety or failure. The contact stated while his wife was driving 70 MPH with him in the passenger’s site seat, the driver’s side rear tire experienced a blowout and the vehicle skidded. The contact's wife was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that Roadside Assistance replaced the tire with the spare tire. The vehicle was then towed to the Toyota dealer, where the contact was informed that the rim was damaged. The dealer informed the contact that both the rim and the rear driver's side tire needed to be replaced. The rim and tire were replaced under Road Hazard insurance. The tire was a replacement tire. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle failure mileage was approximately 30,971. Subject: Urgent Safety Concerns: 2019 Toyota Camry XSE ABS Brake System/ ABS Actuator Issue Description: In late July, while on the freeway, I faced an alarming situation with six brake system malfunction indicator lights. After briefly turning off and restarting the engine, the warning lights cleared. 6 Warning Lights: LDA Malfunction, Pre-Collision System Malfunction, Lower Braking Power, Antilock Brake System Malfunction, Parking Brake Malfunction, and Secondary Collision Brake System Malfunction. Timeline: Around 38,900 miles, during an August 19th maintenance appointment, the technician identified error code C1300, indicating an ABS skid control ECU malfunction and advised dealer contact. In September, during my first visit to the dealer for this issue, despite mentioning C1300, the dealer recommended a battery replacement, which didn't resolve the issue. 2nd Visit to Dealer Service Center: Toyota dealer service detected code C1300 and recommended replacing the ABS Actuator for an estimated cost of $2,009.41. However, this may not guarantee issue resolution, requiring further diagnostics due to potential concurrent unknown factors. C1300 Code: The ABS skid control ECU outputs this DTC if malfunction are found in the circuit inside the ECU by self-diagnosis. Manufacturing Defect: I strongly believe that this malfunction in the ABS skid control ECU is a manufacturing defect. It's rare for a newer, low-mileage vehicle to experience such a critical issue. Safety Implications: This malfunction poses life-threatening hazards, including loss of anti-lock braking, extended braking distances, reduced steering control, decreased stability, increased risk in adverse conditions, and traction control issues. Repetitive Contact with Toyota Headquarters: Despite multiple attempts, Toyota hasn't accepted responsibility. Request for Immediate Attention: I urge the NHTSA to investigate this ABS system malfunction and ensure Toyota's accountability for customer safety.

This is an extension to a previous complaint filed 8/15/23, complaint #11538570 I'm still experiencing safety issues and engine related problems with this vehicle after towing it to the dealership 8/8/23. Following 14 days of non-DTC codes coming up, at Sloane Glenside Toyota Service Center, the computer diagnostic finally revealed P107A2A and P12D501 issues. Although these codes indicate a fuel sensor and fuel pump control and electrical failure issues, the technician replaced a "vacuum switching value because of a low fuel pressure. I picked up the vehicle after the codes were reportedly cleared, and 5 days later, on 8/26, new dashboard warnings revealed a LDA malfunction, pre-collison malfunction, and a secondary break malfunction; all safety related, that caused the vehicle engine light to reappear, shaking violently, idling and eventually shutting down while traveling at approx. 30 miles, in the middle of a busy Baltimore Avenue, Philadelphia, road. I was unable to report this concern again to the dealer as it was on Saturday, after 5pm, and no staff was onsite. I plan to tow the vehicle back to toyota first thing Monday morning, 8/28/23.

When driving home I was doing about 25 mph when my car stalled and 5 or 6 display lights came on. ( secondary collision brake system malfunction, check engine, charging system malfunction, Lda malfunction and engine stopped steering power low.) so I costed into the nearest parking lot blocking an entrance to the facility, so I wouldn’t be blocking traffic on a busy 2 lane road at lunch time. So I then put car In park and shut it off and waited. I tried starting my car and it started but raved up and shut off. So I turned key off and waited 10 minutes. I tried 2 more times waiting 5 minutes longer each time. As I’m writing this I’m waiting for tow truck cause now my car won’t start at all. But I had someone bring an obd tool and P2119,2111, codes showed up.

VEHICLE STALLS AT HIGHER SPEEDS ON THE FREEWAY This problem happened 1 time on 7/22/23, 1 time on 7/23/23, and 5 times between 7/29/23 and 7/31/23 when traveling between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Symptoms (this repeats every time) 1.High speed (freeway speeds) car stalls, loses power and begins slowing. This is very dangerous in heavy traffic and could have very easily caused an accident! 2.Pumping the gas pedal brings the engine power back within 3-10 seconds and the car picks up speed again. 3.The MIL check engine comes on and the instrument panel rotates through malfunction alerts from ICS, LDA, parking brake, secondary collision brake system, etc. and continues cycling through the alerts until the engine is turned off. 4.When restarting right away, the malfunction alerts and MIL remain. 5.After the car has been off for at least 30 minutes, sometimes the warnings and MIL reset. The dealer gave an appointment to have the car checked 3 days in the future. This Camry was not on the recall lists for failing fuel pump even though it matches for manufacturing date.

The brake pedal was applied but it failed to respond and stop the vehicle. The driver attempted to avoid other vehicles and drove into a tree line. There were no warning lights illuminated. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There were no reported fires. The driver sustained injuries that consisted of swollen ribs, a bruised and swollen shin, leg, and damage to his feet. Medical attention was provided at the local hospital. The passenger seated in an unknown rear seat sustained unknown injuries but did not seek medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a towing center in Orlando, Florida. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was contacted, who provided a case number but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was approximately 53,000. The vehicle was deemed a total loss.

I financed my 2019 Toyota Camry LE with about 43,000 miles on it in 09, 2022. After having the vehicle for a couple days I noticed a delay in acceleration especially when starting from a stand still. I press on the gas to make a right turn onto a busy street and my car stalled/lagged for a couple of seconds before the car lurched and the rpm’s jumped up significantly. I was almost hit by a car since my car wasn’t able to pick up speed in time and the stall/lag placed me in harms way and kept me there. The car swerved and honked at me rightly so. When breaking getting off the freeway and my car shakes violently and the brakes doesnt seem to be working 100%. I took my car into an autobody shop near me work where I voiced all my concerns and needed to know if I just bought a faulty car. After doing a full inspection and a test drive the mechanic agreed about the delayed acceleration but the car didn’t have any warning codes so they assumed that their was nothing wrong with the car. I continued to drive the car and tried my best to write off the way the car drives as normal not worry. More and more incidents occurred where I was almost hit due to the lag in acceleration. Now the lag is accompanied by the car shaking/jolting through the lag. The shaking while breaking started happening from medium speeds as well as the higher speed previously. My car has also gotten increasingly louder when started, running, and in idle. The engine over revs continuously. I have a hard time keeping the car at a steady speed. I called Toyota and have an appointment tomorrow AM to have this checked on though I’m not optimistic that they will take responsibility for defect let alone fix my actual problem. From the research I’ve done on this car I found that people with similar issues were ignored/dismissed by Toyota and given no compensation. I have 3,000 miles left of warranty. I have 5.5 years and 20k+ to pay off and I’m afraid I’ll be left with a hunk of junk and out a lot of money.

When attempting to lock and activate alarm, the doors do not lock. The vehicle is not secured. The passenger door does not lock or unlock when using keychain or when attempting to unlock from driver door. The passenger window does not roll up or down correctly. It will stop and roll back up and viceversa. When pressing the gas pedal the car will abruptly pick up speed causing passengers to feel unsafe.

My 2019 Toyota Camry was left in my driveway for three days during the winter, and during that time, a rodent or rodent(s) got inside the engine and insulation and ate the engine cover, multiple writing harnesses, damaged the ignition coil(s), and rendered the vehicle un-operable, requiring a tow to Toyota for repair. The initial DTCs from the rodent were Cylinder 3 and 4 misfire, pre-collision system, emergency brakes, and parking brakes, among others. When the 2019 Camry was left in my driveway for three days, two other cars were also parked, one on each side of the Camry, and sustained no rodent damage. Come to find out, the electrical components, insulation, and writing harness in Toyota vehicles all contain a Soy ingredient that apparently rodents love.

Had fuel pumped replaced in Aug 2020 on my 2019 Toyota Camry XSE out of precaution due to a recall. Fast forward to today Aug. 2022, I have had issues the last week & a half. Iv Taken my car into Toyota dealership 3 times and they still can’t figure out the problem. When starting my car, it stalls, sputters, vibrates, and or dies after a few seconds, as well as every warning light going off, and very low mpg when it is drivable. At one point I was getting 7mpg and car wouldn’t go above 15mph. I told Toyota I believed it was due to a bad fuel pump, they told me it was replaced 2 yrs ago, therefore that can’t be the issue. I mention that maybe they replaced my fuel pump w/an original fuel pump rather than the newer fuel pump that was suppose to correct the problem. The mechanics response was “it’s possible”. Still w/o a car to drive while toyota tries to figure out the problem. A couple days prior they said it was fixed, picked up my car and as soon as I pulled out onto the main road, my car started to vibrate and sputter again. Hoping this time they will at least check to see if it is indeed the fuel pump.

The vehicle is a 2019 Toyota Camry XSE V6. It currently has 27,000 miles on it. On May 2, 2022 while crossing a busy 4 way intersection (35 mph) the car began to stall. The engine started to shake, impacting the ability to steer the car, the vehicle would not accelerate and nearly all of the dashboard lights turned on. It was taken to the dealership on May 3rd where a mechanic said a rock may have hit a sensor underneath the vehicle but that everything was fine. On May 4th while driving on the highway the same thing happened again. This time going around 65 mph. It was brought back to the dealership where they said it was a faulty ignition coil but that there were no OEM parts available and it was backordered with no ETA o repair. They advised to leave the vehicle as it was unsafe to drive. I asked why they didn't make me aware of it when it was brought in the day before and that they needed to fix it. I called Toyota Corporate and about an hour later the dealership let me know they would repair it with an aftermarket part. They commented that ignition coils normally do not go out in vehicles under 100K but it has been seen frequently on the 2019 Camry XSE V6 by the technicians. On May 6th the dealership claimed the vehicle was repaired. Driving back from the dealership on a local road (40mph) the same thing happened again. Dashboard lights turning on. Engine shaking the steering wheel. Car unable to accelerate. It was then taken back to the dealership again the same day. The dealership claimed to repair 2 ignition coils and that it should be fine. On May 11th the vehicle stalled again while driving on local roads (about 30 mph). It was again taken to the dealer where they claimed all 6 coils needed to be replaced at cost. I refused and claimed they needed to repair and left. On June 10th while driving on the highway (70mph) the same thing happened again. It was taken to another dealership. 3 coils replaced on 6/25. I’m having problems with accelerating and jerking. I bought the car about 2 months ago and had to take it back to the dealer for jerking. They changed the tires and it helped with the jerk, but it still vibrates when it turns on. It also very slow when I accelerate. It can be dangerous when I’m turning in a intersection or freeway.

In JuneOf 2019 I got side swiped on the driver’s side beginning at the driver’s door while driving; the airbags did not deploy. The matter was taken care of by mutual agreement between attorney and other drivers insurance company (AAA). On 03/02/22 I was attempting to renew registration when I was informed that I had to take vehicle to dealer due to a recall on make and model before new registration could be issued. In the evening of 03/02/22 I stopped at the dealer and explained to one of the service reps that I was there because of a recall and he stated that there was a problem with airbags deploying WHILE driving; but it was too late in the evening because they were getting ready to close and the issue would take 2-3 hours to inspect. The following morning prior to the service department opening I dropped the car off for service. However, the service invoice makes no mention of the airbag system inspection. Instead, the invoice is for a low pressure fuel pump issue. As for my safety being affected, I now understand why the attorney handling the insurance claim as well as AAA’s insurance adjuster on the matter both stated “that’s odd” when they asked me (at separate times) if the airbags had deployed and I answered “no”. Apparently, according to the service techs comment on the recall having to do with airbags, my safety was in danger at the time of the accident in 2019. But instead of showing that the issue was taken care of on the invoice, in less than 24 hours the problem went from airbags to a low pressure fuel pump. How was my safety put at risk? Being that the impact occurred at the driver’s door while I was driving and airbags failed to deploy, had I not veered to my right up the curb I could’ve suffered serious injury to the left side of my body, at least. Has the problem been reproduced? Unknown. Has the vehicle component been inspected? From techs statement on 03/02/22 and invoice on 03/03/22, UNKNOWN. No warnings of any kind.

The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal would make abnormal sounds when depressed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the front rotors needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH, an unknown warning message illuminated, indicating brake failure, and she heard abnormal sounds coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact veered to the side of the road, opened the hood, and noticed that the sounds were coming from the engine compartment. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer; Frontier Toyota Service & Parts (23621 Creekside Rd, Valencia, CA 91355) who informed her that they could not duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vacuum pump and the front rotors needed to be replaced but the vehicle was not repaired. The dealer informed the contact that she would be responsible for the cost of the vacuum pump replacement since the repair was not covered under the vehicle warranty and the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V890000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

Consul screen keeps going blank. Software updated by the dealer, still happening. Approached the dealer today, they want to tale a screen shot when it happens. This may cause an accident. Per dealer this screen connects which almost all the electronics. Called Toyota about the same, they are saying dealer is the best to advise but screen shot while driving is not advisable. Reporting as this is seems to be safety issue. Dealer told me there is no guarantee this will be fixed.

on 10/29/2021 my daughter was a passenger in her car and was involved in a rear end collision @ approximately 65-70 MPH upon collision with a Toyota Rav4. The Air Bags DID NOT deploy, The seat belt allowed her forward with her breast catching most of the impact, and the front camera system that should have detected the stopped Rav 4 did not alert. We had no error codes nor lights on this car prior and were not aware of any potential recalls. This is a complete failure of a car and safety systems that should have protected her. The entire reason this car was bought WAS to protect her and it completely and utterly failed. She is now in the ER with a broken sternum and currently being evaluated to see if any other vessel damage. We bought this car with the utmost in trust for the safety platform of Toyota as she is a double organ transplant recipient and at this time i am unsure if her transplanted kidney has been injured. The recall needs to immediately be expanded and we should have KNOWN PRIOR that this car had a potential issue and complete failure of all the front end collision safety systems! How is it that the air bags completely failed to deploy? Even the Virginia State Trooper on scene commented that he could not see why they had not deployed. I will follow up with more information and pictures as I obtain them after I make sure my daughter, her kidney graft and her boyfriend are ok. I am attaching pictures of the car and of the car that was hit. At this time I only have the exterior pictures but will get the State Police Report and also will try to get interior pictures of the car.

1st time this happened I turned car on around 4am after work and numerous alerts came on (LDA,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT,PRE-COLLISION SYSTEM,PARKING BRAKE MALFUNCTION,SECONDARY COLLISION BRAKE SYSTEM).I Kept turning car on and off but still alerts light up and not allow me to drive due to brakes on. Had to disconnect battery then connect and alerts were gone. 2nd time I was driving and all sensor lights came up again. Locked up my brakes and luckily no cars near by that could have hit me. Took video of the issues when happened. Also on my screen the messages appear of what was malfunctioning. I am scheduling appointment for issue to be checked. But have had other people state same issue happened to them and decided to report issue. Will see if dealer finds issue, even though others people with same issues have not got a resolved issue from dealers. 1st incident was on 10/22/21 and 2nd incident was on 10/26/21

Vehicle stalled in traffic at an intersection. Several warning lights displayed at the same time and was unable to steer or safely pull to the side of the road. Car would not start until key was removed and restarted. Was very fortunate that traffic was minimal and an accident was avoided. I'm certain this is secondary to the fuel pump recall that apparently, for some reason does not have a fix.

THEY WOULD BEEP AND GO OFF AS THOUGH SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE SEATS AND THERE WAS NO ONE THERE. THE SECOND PROBLEM IS, I RECEIVED A VEHICLE ALERT MESSAGE ON MAY 30TH AT 10:30AM REGARDING THE SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM. "A MALFUNCTION IN THE SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM HAS BEEN DETECTED. CONTACT YOUR TOYOTA DEALER TO HAVE YOUR VEHICLE INSPECTED." THE AIRBAG CHECK LIGHT NEVER LIGHTED SO I DIDN'T SEE THIS MESSAGE UNTIL A MONTH IN A HALF LATER. DANGEROUS FOR MY PASSENGER WHICH IS USUALLY MY OLDEST SON. THE CAR IS IN THE DEALERSHIP NOW AND THEY ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE AIRBAG ISSUE. I FEEL UNSAFE IN MY CAR DUE TO ACCELERATION DELAYS. WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL, THE CAMRY WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WITH THE GAS PEDAL FULLY PRESSED. AT THE TOP OF THE HILL, THE CAMRY WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARD DOWN THE HILL AT WHAT WAS APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH. THE BRAKE WOULD NOT STOP THE MOVEMENT OF THE CAR. EVENTUALLY, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS ALSO PUT IN PLACE. THE CAMRY ROLLED DOWN THE ENTIRE HILL AND STOPPED WHEN THE BACK TIRE HIT THE CURB. THE CAR WAS STILL ON AND IN DRIVE MODE. WE DID NOT COLLIDE WITH ANY OTHER CARS BECAUSE MOST WERE OFF THE STREET. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. FORTUNATELY, WE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED OR WORSE. THIS TOOK PLACE ON A CITY STREET. THE HILL IS VERY WALKABLE. THE FACT THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WITH THE GAS PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED IS ALARMING FOR A NEW CAR WITH LESS THAN 4 MONTHS OF USE. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR FROM ROLLING BACKWARD WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN DRIVE. ONCE THE CAR STOPPED, IT SHOWED A CAR FAILURE NOTICE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO TOYOTA AND REMAINS WITH THE DEALERSHIP TODAY. .

I JUST GOT THE CAR ABOUT A MONTH AND A 1/2 AGO EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE UNTIL 2 WEEKS LATER AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I NOTICE SOME LAGGING AND HARD JERKING IN THE TRANSMISSION WHEN I BARELY PUSH THE ACCELERATOR I NOTICE FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR IT HAD A HARD TIME WANTING TO KNOW WHEN TO SHIFT AND WHEN TO WANNA GO SMOOTH THEN A WEEK AND A 1/2 LATER THE LANE DEPARTURE LIGHT TURNS ON AND THE CRASH CONTROL I TURNED THEM OFF BUT IT STILL TURNED ON EVEN KNOW I WENT INTO THE VEHICLE SETTINGS TO TURN THEM OFF A WEEK FOLLOWING THE LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON MORE PROGRESSIVE EXCEPT THIS TIME IT DEACTIVATES ALL THE CAMERAS FRONT AND BACK I WENT 3 TIMES AND THE MAIN MECHANIC SAID NOT EXAGGERATING *ITS LIKE A PHONE IT NEEDS TO LEARN HOW TO WORK ITSELF OVER TIME IT WILL GET BETTER THE ONLY WAY WE CAN FIX IT IS WHEN YOU BRAKE DOWN AND GET TOWED* ALL KNOW IS, IS THAT THE VEHICLE DOESN'T SEEM TO KNOW WHEN TO WANT TO SHIFT CORRECTLY THERE IS A LAG WHEN PUSHING THE PEDAL, WHEN YIELDING AND GO IT JERKS HARD WHEN SLOWING DOWN I FEEL IT DOWNSHIFTING HARD EITH LITTLE THUDS AND MY SENSOR LIGHTS COME ON AND DEACTIVATE MY CAMERAS

PURCHASED MY 2019 TOYOTA CAMRY XLE COUPLE OF WEEKS BACK WITH 5 MILES ON IT. NOTICED THE VEHICLE HAD ISSUES WITH ACCELERATION. WHEN RESUMING TO DRIVE FROM A RED LIGHT OR STOPPED POSITION, THE CAR SEEM TO HAVE A MAJOR DELAY IN ACCELERATION AND MAKES A LOUD ENGINE NOISE WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. EVEN PRESSING DOWN A BIT MORE ON THE GAS PEDAL DURING THIS INITIAL ACCELERATION, THE CAR DOES NOT REACT MUCH AND BARELY PICKS UP SPEED. THERE IS A MAJOR DELAY, ONE THAT CAN BE DANGEROUS WHEN MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY WHERE QUICK ACCELERATION IS NEEDED TO AVOID BEING A HAZARD TO OTHER MOTORISTS. HAVE NOT TAKEN VEHICLE BACK TO TOYOTA SERVICE DEALER BUT DID TEXT MY SALESMAN AND DESCRIBED THE ISSUE AND HE SAID TO SETUP AN APPOINTMENT. I HAVE A FEELING THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WILL COME BACK SAYING IT'S NOTHING IS WRONG AND FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. TO ME THIS IS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW THAT HAS SAFETY CONCERNS TIED TO IT. BRAND NEW CAMRY 2019 (3,105 MILES, OWNED FOR 2 MONTHS) LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY - DRIVER CONSOLE (SPEEDOMETER, SCREEN, ETC) WAS COMPLETELY TURNED OFF - HAD TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY. UPON TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING, THE FOLLOWING WAS DISPLAYED; MASTER WARNING LIGHT (YELLOW TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION MARK), POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT, DRIVER SCREEN IN CONSOLE DISPLAYED MESSAGE READING "STEERING POWER LOW. VISIT YOUR DEALER". VEHICLE WAS TURNED BACK OFF. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED - NONE OF THE PREVIOUS WARNINGS WERE DISPLAYED. NO SYMPTOMS OR ISSUES HAVE OCCURRED SINCE. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND NOTHING WAS FOUND. SUSPICIOUS COMPONENTS / POTENTIAL ISSUES WERE CHECKED AND NOTHING WAS FOUND. WAS TOLD TO RETURN IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
