There is an airbag recall with no remedy available. I’m very concerned about driving my car without this being fixed. Toyota shows the parts should have been available by now. How can they allow this to go unfixed when they are putting lives at risk? I called my dealer and they said it wasn’t fixable yet.

I own a 2021 Toyota Camry XSE (VIN: [XXX] ) with a malfunction in the SRS airbag system related to the front passenger seat frame Occupant Classification System (OCS) sensor. The airbag warning light remains on, and diagnostics indicate a failure in the OCS sensor that could prevent the passenger airbag from deploying correctly, or could deploy it at the wrong time during a collision. I contacted Toyota for assistance, but they declined to cover the repair, stating the vehicle is out of warranty and not covered under any current recall or extended warranty. However, this is a critical safety issue that affects the airbag system’s ability to protect occupants properly. I’ve discovered that Toyota has already issued multiple airbag- and sensor-related recalls in recent years, including: – The Takata inflator recall, affecting many Toyota models for potentially explosive airbag inflators. – A December 2023 recall for approximately 1 million Toyota and Lexus vehicles (model years 2020-2022) due to a front passenger seat OCS sensor defect—the same component involved in my Camry’s issue. – A June 2024 recall of about 145,000 U.S. vehicles (certain 2024 SUVs/hybrids) for side-curtain airbags that may not deploy correctly. – A January 2025 recall affecting 2023 Toyota and Lexus vehicles for steering-column spiral cable defects that could prevent the driver’s airbag from deploying. Given these ongoing airbag and OCS sensor problems across multiple Toyota models and years, it appears my 2021 Camry may suffer from a related or similar defect. I am requesting that NHTSA investigate whether this issue should be included in or trigger an expansion of existing Toyota airbag recalls. PANORAMIC SUNROOF. When opening it jams and starts making a loud popping noise. Others have reported it exploding sending shards of glass everywhere and Toyota refuses to issue a recall/ or fix the problem. They only told me they had no idea others were having this issue. I was 100 miles out of my warranty and they refuse to fix it for less than 10,000.00. This is a safety issue.

Notice Oil Leak under the Vehicle i had done further investigation with it find the Engine Oil Pan leaking oil and upper Valve gasket i believe there is existing Investigation on it too and i file Complaint with Toyota they advise me since there is no Recall they charge $250 to Diagonstic fee i told them i ready have few mechanic shop look at it. please reference this [XXX] AND [XXX] . I notice oil Leak in my Garage Floor i went under the Vehicle i notice a lot of oil leak between the Oil Pan Gasket # 1 and oil Pan # 2 and light oil leak from the rear of the Valve Cover Gasket i contact Toyota via Reference Number #[XXX] I contact the toyota Dealership advise me i have to pay Diagnostic fee to get look at it then i decide to go with Firestone i paid $48.79 to get inspect they advise me same thing Oil Pan has major leak and advise me it need to get fix as soon as possible i had them order the part and get it replace due to Toyota is under investigation for the Oil pan and Valve cover. On Feb. 12 the car was being driven at 10MPH and the brake system power assist function failed, causing the brakes not to perform as normal. The result was rear ending another vehicle. The car is in the hands of Toyota of Portsmouth, NH at this time. The driver called the state police who told her no report was needed. The damage was more than is visible.

Was driving in a FastTrack/commuter lane on the Interstate at 65MPH, all of a sudden my car would not accelerate forward. It coasted a bit. I was able to stop between the Fastrack lane and an exit space, in the triangular median. I easily could have gotten hit, especially if I had been where there was no painted median I decided to walk behind the sand filled garbage cans that were infrint of the guardrail. I feared people might miss their exit and kill me. Behind those cans seemed safer. I was told by Toyota Dealer my transmission needs replacement. It's covered under manufacture warrenty. I bought car in August 2021 new from dealer.it has 51808 miles.

I was stopped at a car wash, pressing on the brake pedal when all of a sudden it felt like someone rear-ended me. My car accelerated without me stepping on the gas pedal and I turned the wheel quickly to avoid hitting the car in front of me head on. I clipped his right back bumper, flew over a large shrub and landed smashing into a parked vehicle. The total front end of my vehicle was damaged and no air bag deployed.

The recent recall on the 2020-2023 Toyota Highlander’s for the front fender/bumper clips is the same issue I am currently having with my 2021 Toyota Camry. There is potential risk of the bumper or fender falling off in traffic causing a traffic hazard. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I took my vehicle in a few months ago for a different issue(major railroad rust) and had the manager look at the clip issue to see if it would be fixed at the same time, he informed me that is a common issue they see however would need to be scheduled at the body shop and I would pay out of pocket for it. No the component has not been inspected by anyone else other than the manager at the Toyota dealership I purchased the car from.

A portion of the car's hood closest to the windshield is angled downward, which reflects the sun into the driver's eyes. When driving south mid-day, the sun hits this part of the hood and the driver gets a blinding reflection. It's not just when facing the sun directly. When driving toward the sun, as the road bends about 20 degrees one way or the other from head-on the sun's reflection remains, simply moving to another spot on the hood's angled portion.

The SRS Airbag System Malfunction appears on the instrument cluster and will not go away. it hinders me from seeing my speed and other features on my car; it is annoying as well. The seatbelt dinger goes off constantly and will not stop, It has been long enough for Toyota to come up with a remedy to correct the issue. The issue right now is NHTSA not doing their job and making Toyota do their job and fix the issue of the air bags. The NHSTA is a worthless company that does nothing for the consumer, a waste of money just like the rest of the government. Do nothing for the people is the governments motto.

The contact's wife leased a 2021 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while his wife was pulling into a parking space, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. He stated that his wife continued to depress the brake pedal but it would not respond, causing the vehicle to crash into trees. The air bags failed to deploy. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact's wife was able to exit the vehicle with assistance. The contact's wife sustained pain in the chest, upper back, shoulders, and ankle. The contact's wife also sustained a laceration on her finger from the broken window glass. The contact's wife sought medical assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact there was no recall related to the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,922.

The contact stated that the vehicle failed to stop as designed. The contact stated that there were no warning lights illuminated. The engineer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact insisted that the system was inoperable and had not operated as designed since the vehicle was delivered new. When I use cruise control with the radar feature in my 2021 Camry LE, the steering loosens so much that I don’t have good control when changing lanes. I feel that this is a serious safety issue. I had a 2018 Camry LE and when I used these features, this odd steering issue never occurred. Note that when I take OFF the radar feature on the 2021, this steering issue does not occur.The dealer checked it out and claims their is no problem with the cruise feature.

Upon driving the vehicle the steering wheel fluid light came on, the car instantly shut off and restarted 3 times repeatedly. Once it cut back on the 4th time the car began smoking from the interior. Once I exited the vehicle and popped the trunk looking for where the smoke was coming from. The car engulfed into flames. It is so badly burnt up you can’t see what started the fire.

I was involved in a multi-impact collision while driving my 2021 Toyota Camry. Certified crash data from the Airbag Control Module (ACM) confirms five crash events including a frontal collision (delta-V of -9.3 mph) and a rollover (roll angle 9.8°, roll rate 45.6°/sec). Despite these conditions, no airbags deployed—not the frontal, knee, or curtain airbags. The driver was belted, there was no airbag warning light, and power was maintained. Toyota later stated the system worked “as designed” and found no defects. However, federal safety standards (FMVSS No. 208 and 226) suggest this type of crash should have triggered the airbags, especially due to the frontal delta-V and verified rollover. I request a formal investigation. Crash report available upon request.

To the best of my knowledge the following information is true. The car accident was on June 1, 2022. My vehicle is at the Collision repair shop. Will provide their phone # upon request. It would be great if the black box was checked regarding brake assist and other safety features. You have my permission to examine car, take and or check black box. You can take pictures or video as needed. I always keep the brake assist on. I do not depend on brake assist. The posted speed limit is 45 mph. I usually set my cruise control for the posted speed limit. I looked down briefly and next thing I knew my car hit the personal vehicle in front of me. The vehicle my car hit in the rear was a 2011 Ford Expedition. There was damage to his bumper and it appeared to be a wrinkle in back door. There is a trailer hitch on the Ford Expedition. The driver was only person I talked with. He did not appear to be injured. He did not report any injuries. He drove off as soon as the highway patrolman gave us our exchange information. The airbag cover cut inside my left lower arm above my wrist. Wound was larger than a 50 cent piece. The wound swelled up instantly and was bleeding. I do not think the airbag hit my head. I do know steering wheel airbag is to prevent head injuries. The knee airbag caused an abrasion below my knee. EMS had to bandage my wrist with a thick bandage to stop and control the bleeding. I ask them to bandage below my knee to cover broken skin incase it bleed. The insurance adjuster examined car and took pictures June 16, 2022. I called collision center as instructed. Car was towed to collision center same day for assessment of damage. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure of the brake assist not working before the accident. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

I pulled out of the car wash after washing my car in Centennial, Colorado and I realized the passenger side back tire was going flat. I got the car to Discount tire where I had the flat fixed. There was metal coming out of the tire. Not sure exactly how it happened but the tire was defective.

Partial brake assist and auto emergency braking failure to engage contributed to a rear end collision on February 12, 2022. Toyota contracted with an outside engineering firm to inspect brake system and their report did not address the lack of engagement of the auto emergency braking system part of Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 which the enabling switch does not activate. The Toyota Legal Claims department issued an incomplete report that they claim absolves the vehicle but after multiple attempts to reach the issuing department noone has addressed my questions or concerns. Therefore I consider this an incomplete and unresolved safety issue .

Update to previous Complaint filingNHTSA ID Number: 11451933 . Toyota has not accepted responsibility yet acknowledged that the ABS "worked" when the problem was that the Auto Emergency Braking system did not work . In addition a Toyota dealer service employee drove the car and agreed the brake pedal was abnormal. This malfunction resulted in an accident with no injuries but has caused the driver to be in constant fear of driving this vehicle again. We have 2 years left on the lease and will never buy another Toyota product again based on their history of concealing defects (fined in 2014 by DOJ) and their lack of proper customer satisfaction management in this case.

The Windshield cracked, we werent behind any other vehicles and noone saw or heard anything hit the windshield. I have a scheduled manufacturer appointment scheduled for Monday November 22nd at 10 with a local toyota dealership. The cost is over 1,000 to replace and there wasnt even an event to cause this. Safelite was send out from my insurance company and confirmed the windshield has to be replaced and not able to be fixed. No problems prior to incident in fact car was washed so i know for a fact there was nothing wrong. I feel my safety is at risk because it is a terribly manufactured winshield. Ive never had a broken winshield before and for nothing to actually cause the crack is concerning. In fact the car hasnt moved since finding the crack and it is much worse that when it originaly happened. I have spoken to several people on the Toyota page who have complained that their windshields cracked easily as well.

Windshield wiper maximum speed is approximately HALF that of most other makes and models. In any adverse rain or snow conditions it is immediately noticeable how slow and inadequate the speed of the wipers are. In most cases you are forced to reduce speed to below average speed of vehicles around you, creating a hazard, or are forced to completely stop all together.

Purchased this vehicle at a big dealership and driving noticed glaring across the windshield try washing not helping took vehicle to glass shop that told me windshield damaged from rock chips and was pitted all the way through and could not be repaired has to be replaced dealership refuses to replace even though it has glare in sunlight and impairs my vision when driving The custom relation manager said it would have to be shattered or cracked before they would fix she referred me to go to a tint shop to have inside tint installed to help with the glaring that’s a negative because that can make it worse for seeing this damage was not disclosed during sale so this falls under deceptive sale practice and this is bad business the vehicle has car fax report and was a commercial vehicle so this all makes sense why the windshield is as bad as it is also dealership told me to contact my insurance and deal with it that way this is a safety issue when driving and the sun makes it glare and hard to visibly see I want the dealership to take responsibility for this repair since it wasn’t disclosed to me at time of sale this purchase was done November 5 2025 it’s only been a couple weeks Also when I purchased this vehicle the first day of driving I noticed wrong tire speed rate was on car the vehicle calls for 95 H and it had 95 T which is a lower speed rate and is a safety issue as well on 11/11/25 I replaced out of my pocket and put four tires with proper speed rate for that vehicle I’m demanding to this dealership for reimbursement on that as well… Safelite glass did estimate on windshield and I purchased proper tires at big chief

1. Driving on the highway with adaptive cruise control feels like taming a wild horse. Pulls side to side, even after alignment and total check up from Toyota. 2. Engine Maintenace required now warning light. This came on at 106,458 miles on Toyota Camry 21 LE. Randomly turned on. Off when air con was turned off, light came back on when air con was turned on. Took to Toyota dealership, repaired at no cost, Coolant bypass valve circuit short to battery or open, known concern by Toyota. DTC p268115 Confirmed and repaired at no cost, customer care warranty. 3. Headlights full of water, condensation at 70,000 miles. Regular Maintenace each 5k miles, bought extended protection plan for 4k, purchased car brand new in 2021 0 miles. at 70k the headlights I noticed condensation inside the headlights. I thought it would go away, later at 100,000 miles both headlights at the same time started to flicker, then DRL only worked, and turn signals and side markers. LED assembly went out completely dead. DRL then stopped working. Headlight retaining clips pulled away from the body of the car. Completely plastic. Headlight seal is completely worn and is peeling away from the headlight. Toyota just inspected car at 106,000 miles nothing said about the headlights. Now at 114k, Need to replace entire headlight on my own. 1 headlight is 1900 at toyota. must replace entire assembly, since it is a LED module. cracks in top mounting latches, entirely plastic. LED circuit board inside headlight covered in corrosion. Kioto Mexico DM026 is the chip inside the headlight located under the LED module. LED lights last 10-15 years. I didn't know I was supposed to reseal a headlight after 3 years. Toyota never told me this, not in the manual either. My headlights are done for. it costs 3000-4000 for OEM. No help from Toyota so far. Quaity issue with LED headlight unit on both sides. Plastic housing falling apart, cracking, clips snapped and breaking, no accidents. others have this issue

The rear camera has stopped working. It started working intermittently approximately 6 months ago and now it does not work at all. The warning light saying that it was not available would come on when it first started having a problem but that stopped when it stopped working completely. It will show rear cross traffic alert at times but no picture and not every time there is traffic. It has been inspected for any sign of damage to camera wiring, none found

When I do these checks I have my hands lightly on the wheel ready to correct the car when needed. The lane control assist tends to stay to the left of the lane, crossing over the left side lane markers, it also tends to head towards the right side of the lane, crossing over the right side lane markers without compensating. At times it does compensate but it causes the car to go back and forth in the lane without settling out. There have been times when the car is steered to the right with no compensation and without my correction would have gone off the road. The lane warning system doesn't always work. If I did not have diligence when using the system I would no doubt have gone off the road and crashed. The dealer has not checked the car, they say this is how it works even on their personal Toyotas. These problems have been prominent and have existed since the purchase of the car in 2021.

2021 Camry only 24k miles received an engine maintenance required light pop up on my car. Took it to the Toyota dealer and was told i needed REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE-CODE P268115 ENGINE COOLANT BYPASS VALVE. Car is only 3 years old and should not be having this issue. Was told warranty does not cover definitely is a manufacturing issue. There should be a recall.

Driving very slowly into my 36 foot deep garage I took my right foot off the accelerator pedal when the 2021 Toyota Camry suddenly unintended accelerated forward 15 feet and crashed through the rear garage wall, the automatic brake didn't work,. Then with my foot on the brake pedal, it continued at high speed across 35 feet of concrete patio and came to rest on top of thick hedge with front wheels spinning off the ground. I then shut the engines off. I believe this accident was caused by 'Sudden Unintended Acceleration", a fault in many Toyota and Lexus vehicles.

Shut off car but system didn’t shut off so the next day car won’t start…once jump started, it will start ok. Took car to shop but they can’t find anything wrong since it starts ok…recurring problems in the last few years.

The driver side rear door would not open from the inside or outside. Once the dealership opened the back door, the vehicle would no longer lock at all. There was nothing to indicate this would be a problem. Now my car will not lock at all and this is a safety hazard. Also, not being able to open a door from the inside or outside is a major safety issue and my vehicle is available for inspection.

For three consecutive days, while driving on the highway (speed between 50-60 miles per hour, with a speed limit of 60 miles per hour), the car experienced unstable posture, skidding, and sudden severe shaking, as if it were traveling on water, especially frequent on bends! When driving at a lower speed (between 45-60 miles per hour, with a highway speed limit of 65 miles per hour), it feels like driving on a slippery road. The first time this happened, the road surface was normal and not slippery; the second day, the first occurrence was during rain, and I thought it was due to wet road conditions, but the second and especially the third time, the road surface was dry, and there were no wet or slippery road conditions. Today is the third day and the same issue occurred again. Personally, I suspect it may be the result of improper intervention by lane assist functions.This is the first time I've encountered this situation in all my years of driving."

Our 2021 Toyota Camry Hybrid is spurting gasoline out of the area where the gas cap is and the gas is flowing down the side of the car. The problem has something to do with overpressurizing the gas tank when the temperature changes outside from cold to warm. This can happen while the car is in motion and creates an explosion risk. On a cold morning if you let the car sit while the temperature rises you can actually video the gas dripping down from the gas cap. I have video of this happening and many photos of the resulting stains on the side of the car. The car is available for inspection. The dealership claims to not be able to reproduce the issue, but they do not deny the video because it's quite obvious. Toyota claims nobody has reported this issue and they only paid the dealership to fix the paint. There's a reddit article about Toyota Camry Hybrid gas ruptures. Everyone is at risk of this defect due to the explosion risk while driving and a cigarette could ignite the gas on the side of the car. The car has been inspect by Lou Fusz Toyota, but they are remiss to do anything to resolve the problem. I have requested a replacement car since ours only has 20,000 miles and is practically new. There were no warning lamps, messages, our only indication of this problem was a strong odor of gasoline, a visible stain down the side of the car often on days with large temperature changes from cold to hot, and the time when I actually took video of it while it was happening back in March 2023. I'm very concerned about the safety of this car and the dealership seems unable, or unwilling, to address the defect. They replaced the gas cap in March 2023 which resolved the issue temporarily, but it just overpressurizes the new one and now it's happening again on these Spring days where temperatures fluctuate. It's incredibly dangerous to drive a car that is leaking gasoline out the side. Please help us.

When I turn off the LTA switch, it stays on..in other words the steering is affected, and warning beeps sound when I cross into another lane. This is both irritating and dangerous. I brought it in to Orland Toyota for service. The service advisor related that the Technician who worked on it said the computer in the car shows that it’s working properly, and they are going with that. When I protested, he said there is nothing they can do about it..He further said that I would have to turn off the sway warning every time I turn on the car.The service manager told me that cars he drive home every night, sometimes have problems with the LTA. The only entry re this problem on my service receipt is: “Tech: HOUSE TECH (996) Internal”. The problem began right after the vehicle turned 24,000 miles and persists to the present. The passenger side headlight is retaining moisture. Upon further inspection the retaining clips have pulled away and cracked. This causes the headlight to flicker from the moisture inside. Brought the vehicle into Clearwater Toyota in Clearwater, FL and warranty repair was refused with the service manager stating that I was in an accident. I wasn't. Was not repaired by dealer. Opened a claim with Insurance company. Body shop states that it appears to be a manufacturer issue as the screw securing the retaining clip is pushing through the plastic causing it to break.

A couple Monday’s ago, I was backing my 2021 Camry LE out of the driveway when I felt the car lurch and continue in reverse until I crashed into a car down the street. I have literally backed out of that driveway thousands of time since 2006, hundreds of times with the Camry LE, and several times since the accident. I have never had this experience. While I cannot dismiss that I might have hit the accelerator, the backing out of the driveway usually requires that I ride the brake into the street, especially since I am right off the corner where cars tend to cut around quickly. The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while attempting to park her vehicle in her apartment complex parking lot, her vehicle continued to lurch forward without warning despite multiple attempts to stop. Due to the failure, the contact hit a gate as the vehicle continued to independently accelerate. The contact then placed the vehicle into reverse(R) and as the vehicle continued to accelerate in a different gear. The contact then hit the vehicle behind her which then caused that vehicle to hit another vehicle located next to the original vehicle that was hit. The vehicle continued to accelerate with her brake pedal depressed to the floorboard. The contact then placed the vehicle back into driver(D) which sent the vehicle into another gate which then finally stopped the vehicle. The contact stated that property damage to both gates occurred as a result of the failure. The matter had been reported to the property owner and remained under investigation; no decision had been made. The air bags did not deploy at any time during the failure. The police were called to the scene and a police report was filed (22-030393). The contact suffered pain in her lower back and both shoulders; she did not seek medical attention. The vehicle remained in her possession and had yet to be towed or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.

The contact owns a 2021 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission and power steering failed to operate as designed. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle acceleration and the power steering functions were sluggish. Upon investigation, the contact read the safety manual and discovered that the type of battery placed in the vehicle did not have adequate voltage. The contact initially took the vehicle to Mike Erdman Toyota (4650 FL-520, Cocoa, FL 32926) where they offered no assistance and stated that the vehicle operated as designed. The contact then took the vehicle to another dealer where she was informed that the battery needed a boost, which was performed on the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 35.

Can not turn off the lane departure warning (LDW) feature. It can only be placed at a low setting. Surging when depressing brake. Noticed this occurring when slowing pulling into the garage, was not a deal breaker as was barely moving and never got to close to hit anything else in the garage. Once it snowed this surging began happening when braking to slow down to make turns. This surging was scary, even with studded snow tires. Driving home from work one evening, it had rained and was turning to black ice; going around a slight curve on the bridge and close to the white line; the car decided to pull me away from the white line. This was the final straw, not going to allow a car to make the decision to pull on black ice or other driving conditions. I did not want to become a statistic by having this vehicle cause a car wreck and hurt myself or other drivers. I had contacted Toyota Care and they said it was not a warranty issue. That is when I knew it was time to get rid of this hybrid after only 5 months. Other issues with this vehicle: can not lift the driver’s side windshield wiper, massive design flaw. Anyone who lives in snowy climates need to be able to lift their wipers to clean off the snow and/or leave the wipers up so they don’t freeze to the windshield. Another item I contacted Toyota Care about is the bumper/fender/wheel casing. This separated – cheap plastic. Again, they said not a warranty issue. Didn’t have this problem with the Corolla.
