In March of 2008, I purchased a new 2008 Toyota Tacoma (VIN: [XXX] ) from Orleans Toyota in Massachusetts. In July 2010 I re-located to New Hampshire and registered the vehicle in that state in July 2010 where I have resided since. The odometer reading at that time was 21,220 Miles. In September of 2014, I received a safety recall notice from Toyota regarding a potential frame corrosion problem. I scheduled an appointment with the local Toyota dealership in East Swanzy NH on September 12, 2014 to address this issue. The odometer reading at the time was 82,068 miles. There were two remediation options, as set by Toyota: A.Inspect frame, clean, and apply CRC if no perforations were found B.Inspect frame and if perforations found, replace the frame. Both of these options were intended to mitigate any and all risk of future corrosion of the frame that was a result of a known vehicle design flaw. Toyota chose to apply the CRC. I therefore assumed that the frame was intact at that point in time and the issue had been resolved. Between September 2014 and December 2019, I drove the vehicle 62 miles a day on [XXX] in NH commuting between Hillsboro and Keene for all 12 months of the year. This represents a total mileage of 87,939 (36,054 of which can be considered winter driving during the months of November thru March). The Toyota dealership inspected and passed the vehicle in 2023 without mention of any issue regarding the frame. On [XXX] of this year, the Toyota dealership rejected the state inspection due to severe frame corrosion (to the point that the technician felt it was a risk putting the truck on a lift). It should be noted that this vehicle has only been driven 3,000 since it passed inspection in 2023, none of which were during Winter months. In addition, there are no visible signs of rust or corrosion on the exterior of the vehicle. The above points to the fact that the CRC application in 2014 was ineffective in mitigating the safety issue. brought my tacoma truck in for trade in at toyota dealership,after they inspected vehicle,they told me frame on truck is rusted so bad that it has to be replaced.i have been driving this truck pulling my boat and hauling heavy loads.i had no ideal that frame was so rotted and is a saftey hazard on the road.now i have truck nobody wants and will cost to much to repair.truck is only 2008 with 111000 miles on it! how can this be?as far as i know there where no recalls on the frame sent to me.don't know what to do.wont be buying toyota any more.

08trd Tacoma Frame rust bad I bought it in 2011 certified used vehicle. I 2015 had frame inspection They undercoat It has 66000 miles on it Tues this week asked mechanic change oil He said the frame is rusted bad Contacted Toyota that as soon as I got home, I had the email copy I sent to you. She gave me a little glimmer of hope she has a one. Oh I do bring it to the Smithtown dealership which is right down the block and left and I did the next one and I did and it’s documented, the rust is so bad he gonna pass inspection in December I take care of my vehicles yesterday got call Toyota declined to help I’m in shock past time They oct 2020 I’m so disappointed plz help truck is like new since bought 2011 to now I put 40000 Avg 4000 year im local

I brought my 2008 Toyota Tacoma in and they did an undercoating recall. Since then I've had to replace a broken leaf spring and brake line, and a few weeks ago, brought it in to a Toyota dealership to have a wheel bearing/ axlereplaced that had rusted. On the paper documentation nothing was mentioned regarding the frame deterioration. Recently brought it in for an exhaust replacement and was shown how dangerous the frame was, and that it was too far gone to weld anything to, as "there's nothing to weld to" (and no shop would assume liability for such a fix)by the muffler shop technician. I called the Toyota dealership and was told to bring it somewhere to have a plate welded . Told him that wasn't an option.

March 9th I went to take my 2008 Toyota Tacoma in for an inspection, failed due to 3 rustholes in frame and frame is warped,there is only 90838 miles on this vehicle Cost of repair is very $$$$

MY TOYOTA TACOMA WILL SUDDENLY ACCELERATE FROM A DEAD STOP. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND THE ENGINE SPED UP; I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES, BACK WHEELS SPINNING. I PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL. ANOTHER TIME I WAS BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND IT DID IT AGAIN, IN REVERSE! AGAIN, NEUTRAL STOPPED IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES AND I'M AFRAID I'M GOING TO KILL MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE! NO, I DID NOT HAVE A FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE BRAKE! THIS HAPPENS AFTER I'VE HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, THEN TURNED IT OFF. AND AGAIN, IT HAPPENS FROM A DEAD STOP. I HAVE A COMPLAINT NUMBER FROM TOYOTA. THE DEALER DID DIAGNOSTICS AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. SO TOYOTA WILL DO NOTHING. I AM CONTACTING YOU TO MAKE PUBLIC WHAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING WITH MY TACOMA IN CASE OF A HORRIFIC ACCIDENT. I HAVE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED 2 SEPARATE OCCURRENCES OF SUDDEN UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION IN MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE FIRST INSTANCE WAS ON FEBRUARY 25, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 12:50 P.M. I WAS SLOWING TO STOP AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION BEHIND A VEHICLE. IN THE LAST SEVERAL FEET PRIOR TO STOPPING, I BEGAN BREAKING WITH MY FOOT UNTIL THE CAR WAS WITHIN ABOUT 10 FEET OF STOPPING. COMPLETELY OUT OF THE BLUE, THE REAR WHEELS STARTED SPINNING WILDLY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY MY ENGINE RPM INCREASED TREMENDOUSLY. IN ORDER TO KEEP FROM HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, I STOMPED HARD ON THE BRAKE WITH TWO FEET. WHEN I REALIZED I WASN'T GOING TO STOP, I QUICKLY SHIFTED THE GEARSHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. THE RPM SETTLED DOWN AND THE TIRES STOPPED SQUEALING. I THEN SHIFTED TO PARK UNTIL I COMPOSED MYSELF. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PROCEEDED TO SHIFT BACK INTO DRIVE AND CONTINUED ON TO WORK WITHOUT FURTHER TROUBLE THAT DAY. THE SECOND INSTANCE WAS ON FEBRUARY 26, 2016 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:10 P.M. I WAS RETURNING HOME FROM WORK AND PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY TO PARK THE TRUCK. AS I PULLED TOWARD THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY, I HAD SLOWLY ACCELERATED UP THE SLIGHTLY INCLINED DRIVEWAY, THEN SLOWLY STARTED TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. JUST AS I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO STOP, THE SAME THING OCCURRED. MY REAR WHEELS STARTED SPINNING WILDLY AND THE ENGINE RPM SHOT UP VERY HIGH. I PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE TRUCK FROM ENTERING THE BACK YARD, BUT THE TIRES WERE LAYING RUBBER ON THE DRIVEWAY. I QUICKLY SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, THEN INTO PARK, AND TURNED OFF THE KEY. THE TRUCK HAS SAT IN THE DRIVEWAY SINCE BECAUSE I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED FOR MY SON TO DRIVE AFTER HE RECEIVED HIS LICENSE. FORTUNATELY, I HAD NOT YET TURNED THE KEYS OVER TO HIM, AS AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER, HE WOULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT, OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE.

PULLED INTO PARKING LOT, TURNING RIGHT. HAD FOOT ON BRAKE. ENGINE WENT TO FULL THROTTLE, REAR TIRES SPINNING, JUMPED CURB. TURNED KEY OFF. ALL OK AFTER RE-STARTING. HAVE THREE WITNESSES. THIS IS SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN 12 MONTHS. SEE 03/2015 COMPLAINT. REPORTED TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN MARCH 2015, AT STONE MOUNTAIN, GA. THEY KEPT SEVERAL DAYS, RAN TEST, AND TOOK PICTURES. The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while his wife was entering the vehicle on the passenger’s side, the sidestep was stepped on, and there was an abnormal crunching sound coming from the step. The contact went to the passenger’s side front door and yanked on the sidestep, which caused the sidestep to almost separate from the sub frame. The contact looked underneath the vehicle and observed severe corrosion extending the length of the passenger’s and driver's side. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic due to the extent of the corrosion. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 173,807.

I have a 2008 Tacoma with a severely rusted frame. I just bought it a few months ago but didn’t know the frame was this bad. It’s unsafe to drive in its current state. Toyota will not honor their now expired recall for their faulty frames. Their frames were not coated properly from the factory and almost all tacomas had this issues that were in the cooler states of the US, and around the world for that matter.

There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was informed that the sub frame needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, it was discovered that underneath the vehicle there was an abnormal amount of rust on the frame. The front passenger side frame was deteriorating. The dealer was called and made aware of the failure however the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was parked and driven when necessary as they feared for their safety when the vehicle was driven. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the failure was a known issue. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

STEERING IS VERY DIFFICULT AND VERY STIFF. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND I SEE MANY OTHER 08 TACOMAS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO RECALL? ALSO STEERING DOES NOT RETURN TO POSITION YOU HAVE TO CONTINUOUSLY TURN IT ON YOUR OWN. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND THERE IS APPARENTLY NO WAY TO FIX IT. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT ON MY WAY HOME TODAY BECAUSE I COULDN'T STEER THE TRUCK. DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. ALL OF THESE COMPLAINTS POINT TO THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE STEERING IS VERY DIFFICULT WHEN MOVING AND WHEN STATIONARY. IT DOES IT ON CITY STREETS, HIGHWAYS, ALL THE SAME. AND AT TIMES STEERING WILL BE NORMAL AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. STEERING IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. WHEN MAKING A TURN IT DOES NOT STRAIGHTEN ITSELF OUT IT KEEPS GOING IN THE DIRECTION THAT YOU TURNED. IT IS VERY HARD TO STRAIGHTEN OUT AND HAS BECOME VERY DANGEROUS. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS IN A STATIONARY POSITION, CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY. STEERING FELT LIKE IT LOCKED UP WHEN I WAS TURNING ONTO A BUSY ROAD. VERY STIFF AND HARD TO TURN. DRIVING HOME IT CONTINUED TO BE INTERMITTENTLY HARD, THEN EASY, THEN HARD AGAIN, ALL DURING A SINGLE TURN! CAUSED ME TO HAVE GREAT DIFFICULTY TURNING. RESEARCH PROVES THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECT AND I WONDER WHY TOYOTA HAS NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY AND ISSUED A RECALL.

Following an oil change my mechanic expressed concern about the amount of rust and damage from the rust on my vehicle frame. Due to his concern, I set up an evaluation appointment with the Arlington Heights (IL) Toyota dealer. They evaluated, videotaped the inspection which showed several rusted-through spots, and said it looked very serious and unsafe. The dealer then contacted the Toyota corporate office who refused to do anything. I'm the second owner. I have all the paperwork from the original owner who followed the rusty frame protocol properly (take it to the dealer who sprays it with rust preventative or replaces the frame). The frame was sprayed by Toyota while he had it and it did not work. There are now several rusted-through areas in the frame and I fear for the safety of myself and my family if we were involved in a crash and the frame were to collapse.

i have a 2008 toyota tacoma with a heavily rusted frame. been trying to get toyota to replace it but their no HELP many of the crossmember are failing and rotted away and today 3/12/2023 the gas tank support fail and made the gas tank almost fall out while driving at 50 mph. *yes * yes MY SAFELY was and other driver also *NO *i have been trying to get toyota to replace the frame but they are not being helpful

The vehicle frame is rusting through. Two exhaust hangars have rusted from the frame and metal is flaking in large chunks. My mechanic warned me yesterday about this condition and his concern.

This 2008 Toyota Tacoma had a recall because the frames of the vehicles are rotting out. Most Toyota's with this problem had a 15 year recall period. This vehicle had a 12 year recall period. My son Trevor bought this truck in 2020. He had no knowledge of this recall. He recently did his VT state vehicle inspection and was told that the frame is rotting and needs to be replaced. Is there anything that can be done at this point?

Hello, I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma that I bought new from the dealer in 2008. In 2021, around October, I noticed the frame has rusted. After crawling under the truck, I realized this is bad. There were holes in the frame. One of them, I was able to stick my finger in. This is a dangerous condition and I hope there is a fix for it. My truck is in excellent condition with only 80,000 miles on it. I take very good care of it and hope to get another 250,000 miles out of it. Will Toyota fix it?

THE PAD ASSY STEERING PART# 45130-04091-BO. EVIDENTLY THE PLASTIC CONTACTS ATTACHED TO THE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY BROKE OFF AND MY HORN WAS INOPERABLE WHEN ANOTHER CAR DRIFTED INTO MY LANE. HORN DIDN'T WORK. ALMOST CAUSED A SEVERE ACCIDENT. IT WORKED SPORADICALLY FOR MONTHS, THEN ANOTHER INCIDENT AGAIN WHEN DRIVER WAS TEXTING ON HIS PHONE AND DRIFTED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC. I CHECKED WITH TOYOTA SERVICE, THEY ALL KNOW THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH AIR BAG PAD ASSEMBLEY. I HARDLY USE MY HORN, ONLY WHEN NECESSARY, NO DRIVER OVER ABUSE HERE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THESE CONTACT POINTS BREAK OFF IN THE COLD WEATHER. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE ON MY PROPERTY IN 4WD THE TRANSFER CASE BECAME STUCK IN 4WD. IT STILL IS STUCK IN 4WD AND WON'T RETURN TO 2WD AS IT SHOULD. I'VE BEEN FORCED TO REMOVE THE FRONT DRIVESHAFT (NO EASY TASK) TO PREVENT UNNECESSARY WEAR AND TEAR ON THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. AFTER READING NUMEROUS FORUMS RELATING TO THIS SUBJECT I'VE DETERMINED THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL TRANSFER CASE.

I'VE HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES OF ABS PROBLEMS WITH MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. IT'S AS IF YOU ENTER A SITUATION, STOPPING OR SLOWING OBVIOUSLY, AND THE ABS SYSTEM TOTALLY RELEASES THE TRUCK TO KEEP ROLLING. THE BRAKING ACTION STOPS, THE PEDAL DEPRESSES, AND THE TRUCK KEEPS GOING. YOU CAN HEAR THE ABS SYSTEM WHINING AWAY. IT SEEMS AS IF THE TRUCK ACCELERATES OR LUNGES, BUT I THINK ACTUALLY THE TRUCK STOPS DECELERATING FROM YOUR BRAKING ACTION AND ROLLS ON AT THE SPEED THE BRAKE RELEASED, GIVING THE SENSATION YOUR VEHICLE ACCELERATED. LATEST INSTANCE, I WAS BACKING INTO A CLEAN GARAGE OFF SNOW AND ICE. I HAD JUST STARTED THE TRUCK SO IT WAS IDLING JUST A BIT ON THE HIGH SIDE AS IT OFTEN DOES WHEN FIRST STARTED COLD. BACK WHEELS WHERE IN THE GARAGE, FOOT OFF GAS AND ON BRAKE, AND THE FRONT TIRES MUST HAVE SENSED A SLIDE WHILE STILL IN THE DRIVEWAY AND ON THE SNOW. THE ABS WHINED, THE TRUCK SEEMED TO ACCELERATE( IN THIS CASE IT ACTUALLY DID, JUST AS IT WOULD AS IF YOU TOOK FOOT OFF BRAKE AT STOP SIGN). The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that the subframe of the vehicle was significantly corroded. The contact stated that the passenger's side of the vehicle was warped, which made the vehicle unsafe to drive. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle had passed inspection when an unknown recall repair was previously performed on the vehicle in 2016. The failure mileage was approximately 243,000.

We were experiencing a loud rattling noise under the passenger side steer tire and when we hit bumps, it was hard to control the steering and bouncing. When inspected by our mechanic, we found that the frame had rusted through and broke near the passenger side wheel and will no longer pass inspection due to safety. The entire frame has extensive rust issues, even though under costed at time of purchase and two other times during our ownership and was last inspected by Toyota in April 2018 and told all was ok, even though there was an open extension on replacing rusted frames for the 2008 Toyota Tacomas.

My stepdaughter purchased a 2008 Toyota Tacoma a few months ago. During the time of having the vehicle serviced her mechanic pointed out all the rust throughout the frame of the vehicle. I have contacted Toyota Corporate; they refuse for me to open a ticket and to get this safety issue resolved. Not only is the rust on the frame, but it's also evolving the suspension. There is also evidence that this vehicle is from Vermont which would have caused more of a rust issue besides the manufacture forgetting to coat the frame.

Frame has rusted to the point of actually having a hole that I can put my finger through. The truck has only 79000 miles on it and is in excellent shape otherwise. I bought it new from the dealer in 2008. I think this is a potentially dangerous condition but could be repaired via an Toyota recall. My father was a Toyota G.M. and Toyota's are all my family have owned for 30 some years. I hope Toyota will honor the re-call. On my last vehicle inspection, the mechanic told me that he will fail me next time due to a rotting frame. This is a serious safety hazard. Through my research, this is a common problem with this year truck (2008) and other years. To my knowledge, I was never contacted by Toyota as far as any recall. This truck still looks new and I am very dissapointed with what I read about this so called "Recall" has expired or about to expire in 2023. I would like very much to have this repaired. I don't know how to go about it.

MY LIGHTS BEGAN GOING OFF AT NIGHT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS OLD. NOT THAT FREQUENTLY, USUALLY RELATED TO MOISTURE OR MAYBE THE WIPERS DRAWING POWER TO CLEAR MOISTURE. ON 5/2/12 ONE OF THE RIGHT TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING. WHILE INSPECTING THE LIGHTS TO DETERMINE WHICH BULB TO REPLACE, I NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC LENS IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE TURN SIGNAL BULBS ON BOTH SIDES IN THE FRONT IS BLACKENED AND MELTING FROM THE HEAT OF THE BULB. ADDITIONALLY, THE LENS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT IS CRACKED ON THE INSIDE WHERE THE BULB HAS OVERHEATED THE LENS. FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE LAMP SOCKET SHOWS HEAT FATIGUE AND DISCOLORATION DUE TO OVERHEATING. IT APPEARS AS IF THE LIGHT BULB IS TOO CLOSE THE LENS AND THERE IS INADEQUATE VENTILATION FOR THE HEAT. I AM CONCERNED THAT CONTINUAL HEATING OF THE LENS AND THE SOCKET MAY LEAD TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE OF THAT COMPONENT, CAUSING A FIRE. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THIS TRUCK MODEL'S RUNNING LIGHTS (WHICH ARE ALSO THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS) ARE ALWAYS ON WHENEVER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE OFF, THERE IS NO WAY OF SHUTTING THESE LIGHTS OFF. FYI: INTERNET SEARCHES HAVE TURNED UP NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE. Wire connection on passenger side, under carpet. It is to the heater Temperature Control. The heater only works on High until you hit a bump or move the connector then it will start working until you bump it again. It is available for inspection upon request. A Certified Mechanic told me, It could potentially cause a fire by shorting out. I have two other friends with the same issue on their Toyota Tacoma's. .

Over time, I have noticed significant paint peeling on multiple areas of the truck, including the roof, hood, and door frames. The paint is deteriorating down to the primer, and in some places, the metal is now exposed. I am aware of Toyota’s Customer Support Program T-SB-0162-19, which extends warranty coverage for similar paint issues on various Toyota models using the same Super White (040) and Blizzard Pearl (070) paints. This is my second Tacoma. Both cases I’ve found out too late that the frames are shot. Although before I purchased I had it inspected by Toyota shop to identify any problems including frame rot. First one I bought new second used. Both cases I was told I am out of the recall window. My loyalty to your brand is in question. You’ve recognized a problem and on the surface it appears your taking responsibility for it. Then , atleast in my case, don’t. Disappointed starts to describe my feelings on this matter. If you care to make any concessions and retain a Toyota customer reach out to me.

We had four Goodyear Assurance 215/70R/15 tires installed on our 2008 Tacoma pick-up by Sam's Club in 2019. While driving at highway speed (~55 mph), the driver's rear tire had a blowout of the outside sidewall. There were no objects or potholes run over. After removing the tire and inspecting the tread, there are no signs of any foreign objects in the tread. The tire pressure checks for all the tires were completed within the previous month, and they were balanced and rotated by Sam's Club within the previous three months. Fortunately, this did not occur on a front tire since we were on a heavily traveled two-lane road and we could have lost control with a catastrophic failure like this one. There were approximately 15k miles of use on all the tires.

I am reporting a serious safety incident with my 2008 Toyota Tacoma. While driving at approximately 65 mph on the highway last week, my spare tire detached from the vehicle (unknown at that time). The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) light activated, and I later discovered the spare had broken free and fallen off. This was unknown until a week later when the dealership said the TPMS went off due to a missing spare tire. The failure was caused by severe corrosion of the spare tire carrier/hoist assembly, which gave way without warning. This created an immediate highway hazard for vehicles behind me. Toyota has previously issued recalls for spare tire carrier corrosion on earlier Sequoia and Tundra models. However, my 2008 model year was not included — yet the exact defect has now occurred. This is not a matter of convenience or maintenance. A spare tire falling off at highway speeds is a life-safety defect that should be investigated by Toyota and NHTSA before someone is seriously injured or killed.

The airbag light first came on about 60 days ago, the first time I tried to use the cruise control after light was first noticed the cruise control did not work. My concern is that as long as the light is on the airbag(s) may or may not deploy. This airbag light has stayed on constantly since first appeared, the cruise control will work intermittently. The component has not been inspected but there is a recall, 12V092000:Air Bag Clockspring Replacement, that addresses this exact concern but appears my VIN is not included. This is obviously a problem on other VIN ranges because mine suffers from this and it is obvious Toyota is aware there is a problem but it just hasn't had enough complaints with my VIN range, likely because there are not as many on the road as the vehicle is 14 years old. I am concerned for my family's safety as well as my own if the airbag fails to deploy because of an accident.

I HAVE 98000 MILES ON MY TRUCK, 90% OF IT FREEWAY MILES. EVERY TIME I HAD MADE A ROAD TRIP, THE BACK OF MY NECK WOULD BURN, AND KEEP BURNING FOR WEEKS AFTER I WAS BACK FROM MY TRIPS. TWO WEEKS AGO, AFTER DRIVING 1000 MILES, THE BURNING INCREASED TO EXTREME SHOOTING NERVE NEEDLES FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF MY NECK DOWN BELOW AND ABOVE MY SHOULDER BLADE, DOWN BELOW AND ABOVE MY RIB CAGE IN THE AREA OF MY HEART, AND AROUND THE BACK OF MY SHOULDER, DOWN THROUGH MY ARM PIT, UP THE FRONT OF MY SHOULDER AND INTO MY ROTATOR CUFF. ALL OF THIS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF MY BODY, AND ALL EMANATING FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF MY NECK, ALL THE WHILE THE BACK OF MY NECK WAS STILL BURNING. PLEASE EXCUSE THE LONG SENTENCE. THE PAIN WAS REDUCED BY 500MG OF ASPIRIN AND 500MG OF IBUPROPIN. THE NEXT DAY I HUNTED ROCKS, BENDING AND STRETCHING, AND WORKED MOST OF THE PAIN AWAY BY STRETCHING THE MUSCLES OUT. IT HAS A NECK STRAP, SINCE THE ENTIRE STRAP WAS TIGHT UP AGAINST THE LOWER PART OF MY NECK, JERKING MY NECK EVER TIME THE TRUCK MADE A TURN OR HIT A BUMP. FOR THAT MATTER, EVERY TIME I MOVED MY BODY, THE SHOULDER STRAP PRESSED AGAINST MY LOWER NECK. WHEN I PUT THIS NECK STRAP BEHIND MY BACK, THE PAIN SUBSIDED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. NOW I HAVE TO HAVE THE STRAP BEHIND MY BACK EVEN IN THE CITY, OTHERWISE THE PAIN IN MY NECK IS THERE ALL THE TIME. SO, FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS, ALL MY NECK PAIN HAS BEEN CAUSED FROM THE DEFECTIVE SEAT BELT, AND I WANT IT FIXED/REPLACED. IT IS ILLEGAL TO DRIVE WITH THE SHOULDER BELT BEHIND MY BACK. THERE NEEDS TO BE A DEVICE THAT MOVES THE SHOULDER STRAP FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY OVER TOWARD THE MIDDLE OF MY BODY SO THAT THE SHOULDER STRAP LAYS ACROSS MY SHOULDER AND DOESN'T WRAP AROUND MY LOWER NECK.

I MADE A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE THAT I HAVE FELT, ON MANY OCCASIONS, WHILE STOPPED, A SUDDEN SURGE FORWARD. AT TIMES, IT FEELS AS THOUGH I WAS BUMPED FROM BEHIND. The brakes on my 2008 Toyota Tacoma were failing so I took it to a mechanic, who said that the brake lines had failed and needed to be replaced. However, he said that it wasn't worth putting any money into the truck, as the leaf springs were corroded along with the frame, which could crack apart at any time. As we only purchased the truck one year ago, he advised us to take it to the dealership where we purchased it, and informed us of the recalls on both of these issues. I spoke with the mechanic at the dealership because when we purchased the vehicle, they did the inspection and said that everything was fine. When I asked the mechanic about this, he said that he didn't have anything to do with sales and we needed to speak to the owner (who is out on medical leave). The mechanic said that when the dealership purchased the vehicle at auction, the frame must have been undercoated and so they missed it. When I mentioned the recall, he told me to call Toyota. I have checked the VIN and it is not showing an open recall for this vehicle. However, it is experiencing the exact same safety issues as the recalls for leaf spring corrosion and frame rust and cracking. I have only had this truck for a little over one year and do not know what to do. It is too dangerous to drive as it could cause a serious accident. Neither the dealership nor Toyota want to take responsibility and offer a solution.

Toyota has had a long history of excessive frame rust. This truck has excessive frame rust. There was a recall to fix this frame rust and my truck has not been fixed. Toyota will not fix the current recall for the spring replacement because of the frame rust. My life and my children’s lives are in danger due to the possible leaf suspension failure that may puncture the gas tank.

Hope to be able to get this solved. My 2008 Toyota Tacoma had a recall with the previous owner but they didn't take it in. On the rear section of the frame on the inside beside the gas tank and on the driver side there is a lot of rust there the frame has expanded and is starting to go all away through also same place back beside the muffler on the passenger side. Also there are a few spots on the front part of the frame under the fire wall area on both sides. I had a recall on the truck and took it in and had it fixed which Toyota replaced the leaf springs on both sides and hardware. Says there was a recall when the previous owner had the truck. Will they validate that still? I've owned the truck almost a year now. But it's getting worse. Within a year I'm gonna have to park it because it liable to possible break in half. Toyota should of let me known when they had it on the lift replacing the rear leaf springs. Not my fault the previous owner didn't take the truck in to have them look at it.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the steering wheel failed to move as intended and the vehicle became difficult to maneuver. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The contact continued driving at a slow speed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the pinion steering gear failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that on a separate occasion while driving 40 MPH, there was an abnormal revving sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the engine was leaking oil and the entire braking system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

Some of the interior door light switches don't light @ night. I can probably take the door panel off & fix it... (buy bulbs)...? Door hinge on the gas cap breaks way to easily. Could fly off & hit someone\thing... Clunking sound coming from the rear end & I can't find where it's coming from... Gas cap gets loose & throws a p0333 code knock sensor bank 1 or 2 or both. Who put them under the manifold... ? Scary to get the code. That's a hr+ job that's doing it myself.$ Expensive from a shop $ Nothing to serious. 2nd Owner. Runs strong for the miles on it. The brakes completely failed on the vehicle. When inspected the main brake line was found damaged due to the frame of the car being totally corroded and shifting of the mechanical structure. If I were not quick in getting the emergency brake applied, we would have had an uncontrolled crash in traffic and could have potentially been killed. There were no warnings or lights that came on in the vehicle prior to the complete brake failure. The car is currently at a local repair shop and can be inspected if necessary. The frame corrosion was so bad on this car that the repair shop was not comfortable even putting it on a lift as they felt the car frame would break.

THEN SECONDS AFTER THAT TWO FOOT FLAMES CONSUMED THE FRONT BUMPER. THE FOG LIGHT WIRING HARNESS MELTED AND THE HEAT WAS SO INTENSE IT CAUSED THE BUMPER TO CATCH FIRE. CALLED TOYOTA AND WAS HOPEFUL THEY WOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE. TIRES STARTED SPINNING; BRAKES WOULD NOT HOLD. HAD TO TURN IGNITION SWITCH OFF. TURN BACK ON AND ALL OK. GOVERNMENT KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH 2002-2011 TOYOTA'S, AND HAVE FINED THEM HEAVILY. HEAD LIGHT LENS HAVE STRESS CRACKS, HOLD MOISTURE AND ARE NOT CLEAR AND DIMINISHES THE VISIBILITY FOR THE BULB TO WORK PROPERLY AND DRIVER TO BE ABLE TO SEE AT NIGHT. THE LENS ARE NOT CLEAR AND HAVE TURNED TO A YELLOWISH COLOR. THIS STARTED HAPPENING WITHIN TWO YEARS AFTER I PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW IN 2008 LUG NUTS. TUSCALOOSA TOYOTA TELLS ME OVER A YEAR AGO THAT I HAVE SWOLLEN LUG NUTS. TUSCALOOSA TOYOTA HAS DONE ALL OF MY SERVICE WORK AND THE ONLY ONES THAT HAVE TOUCHED THESE LUG NUTS. THEY HAVE CAUSE THE PROBLEM BY NOT USING THE CORRECT SOCKET BUT THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT. THEY SHOULD REPLACE THEM BECAUSE NO ONE ELSE HAS TOUCHED THEM. FOR THE SEAT BELT PROBLEM, I HAVE MADE APPOINTMENTS WITH 2 DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALERS WITHIN THE LAST YEAR, HAVE DRIVEN 60 MILES EACH WAY TO HAVE IT DONE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD WHEN I GOT THERE THAT THE PARTS WERE ON "NATIONAL BACKORDER". I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE WAY THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDALS ARE CONFIGURED I FREQUENTLY HIT THE GAS PEDAL ALONG WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN DEPRESSED GOES ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. THE PEDALS ARE SO CLOSE TOGETHER THAT THE GAS PEDAL IS SOMETIMES CAUGHT BY THE EDGE OF MY SHOE WHILE BRAKING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RACE. THIS ESPECIALLY HAPPENS WHEN BACKING UP AND MY BODY IS CONTORTED TO SEE OUT THE REAR WINDSHIELD. BUT IT ALSO HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY WHEN DRIVING FORWARD AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP. AFTER THE INSPECTION OF MY VEHICLE THEY SAID THAT MY TRUCK IS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. I STILL FEEL THAT THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR AN ACCIDENT. ANOTHER SIDE NOTE IS THAT WHENEVER I BROUGHT MY TRUCK IN TO THE DEALER JUST ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THEY WOULDN'T CHARGE FOR THE INSPECTION OR BRAKE ADJUSTMENTS AND SO NO PAPERWORK WAS WRITTEN UP OF MY COMPLAINTS WHICH HAS HAPPEN TWO OR THREE TIMES. INITIALLY BEGAN OCCURRING ON HIGHWAY OFF-RAMPS THAT CURVED IN AN ARC. ACCELERATOR WOULD DIE AND NOT RESPOND TO BEING PUSHED DOWN. ENGINE WOULD NOT EVEN REV. LOSS OF FORWARD MOMENTUM WOULD LAST 5-9 SECONDS AND CAUSE TRAILING VEHICLES TO TAKE EVASIVE ACTION. ACCELERATOR WOULD THEN RETURN TO BEING RESPONSIVE, AND ENGINE WOULD REV WHEN ACCELERATOR PRESSED, AND SPEED INCREASE ONCE AGAIN. THERE ARE TWO SEPARATE ISSUES WHICH MAKE A DEADLY COMBINATION. WHEN I STOP IN TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY THEN ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WILL REV AT A HIGH RPM WHILE FAILING TO ACCELERATE AS IT WOULD UNDER NORMAL OPERATIONS. NOW THIS IS WHERE IT IS SCARY FOR ME. WHEN I LET OFF OF THE GAS PEDAL UNDER THESE CONDITIONS, SOMETIMES THE RPM'S WILL GO DOWN AS YOU WOULD EXPECT BUT SOMETIMES THE RPM'S WILL STAY VERY HIGH EVEN AFTER I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. AT THAT POINT I STEP ON THE BRAKE, TURN ON MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS, PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE THEN TURN IT ON AGAIN. THIS IS ALL TOO REMINISCENT OF THE PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA CARS THAT ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. A FEW MONTHS LATER SHE RECEIVED A RECALL IN REGARDS TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V148000(TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS) AND WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE TIRES SPECIFIED IN THE RECALL. WE HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA TRUCK WITH THE ENGINE REVVING WHEN WE FIRST START IT UP. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID THAT THIS IS "NORMAL" LAST WEEK WE TOOK IT IN DUE TO A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR SUDDEN ACCELERATION PROBLEMS THAT TOYOTA CLAIMS IS DUE TO FLOOR MATS. DEALER CUT DOWN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER CONTROL SYSTEM, ROTATED THE TIRES. UPON PULLING OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED (SIDE TO SIDE) AND CAR BUCKED (FRONT TO BACK) THERE WERE LOUD GRINDING AND BANGING NOISES. CAR PULLED STRONGLY TO THE LEFT. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR . INSTEAD OF SLOWING, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED UP. DUE TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON BOTH SIDES OF US, I FOCUSED ON STEERING US OUT OF TROUBLE BY KEEPING US IN OUR LANE. I DID NOT APPLY BRAKE. I HAD THOUGHT THAT WITHOUT GAS, THE CAR WOULD GRADUALLY SLOW DOWN ON ITS OWN. INSTEAD OF SLOWING THE ENGINE REVVED UP! TRUCK SUDDENLY LURCHED 90 DEGREES TO LEFT, JERKED STEERING WHEEL OUR OF MY HANDS VEHICLE LURCHED INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE, WHOLE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE ASSEMBLY CAME OFF AND HEADED ONE WAY AND THE TRUCK WENT THE OTHER. SINCE SEPTEMBER OF 2007, I DROVE A 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. JULY 13, 2010 AT APPROXIMATELY 8:55 A.M., I WAS STEPPING ON MY BRAKE TO COME TO A STOP BEHIND A VEHICLE AT A STOP SIGN IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. I STARTED BRAKING SLOWLY AS USUAL. IT APPEARED THE BRAKES WERE WORKING BUT NOT CATCHING AS FAST AS USUAL SO I PUT EXTRA PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE. GETTING TOO CLOSE THAN I SHOULD BE FOR A STOP, I PUSHED THE BRAKE TO THE FLOOR & MY TRUCK DIPPED A BIT APPEARING TO COME TO A STOP BUT THEN KEPT ROLLING & HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE CAR SEEMED TO MOVE FROWARD JUST BEFORE THE TAP AS IF IT WERE GOING TO MAKE THE TURN AT THE STOP SIGN SO THE IMPACT WAS LOW. THIS WAS A LOW IMPACT COLLISION IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA COMING TO A STOP SIGN IN THE MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK. THE BRAKES HAD FAILED PRIOR TO THE ACCELERATION ISSUE THAT FOLLOWED. MY INSURANCE COMPANY & TOYOTA CLAIM TOYOTA IS THE ONLY COMPANY ABLE TO RUN ANY TESTS ON THE VEHICLE TO INSPECT MY TRUCK. TOYOTA WRITES THAT IT IS THEIR UNDERSTANDING MY ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED WHEN MY VEHICLE ACCELERATED & REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THAT'S ONLY A PORTION OF MY CLAIM. THEY OVERLOOKED THE INITIAL CAUSE OF THE BRAKE NOT CATCHING. I UNDERSTAND THAT IN SOME CASES PEOPLE PANIC & STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR. EVEN IF THAT HAD HAPPENED CAUSING THE SECOND HIT, THE FIRST HIT THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED ANY PANIC WAS BECAUSE THE BRAKE DID NOT WORK. THE LETTER REGARDING MY INSPECTION CLAIMS MY BRAKES WERE IN GOOD CONDITION. THE TOYOTA RECALL ON MY VEHICLE SAYS SAFETY RECALLS OR SERVICE CAMPAIGNS, "HAVE NOT YET BEEN COMPLETED FOR YOUR VEHICLE" AND I'LL BE NOTIFIED AS SOON AS THERE'S A REMEDY. AT A COMPLETE STOP FOR A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT AND AFTER ABOUT 30 MILES OF HIGHWAY DRIVING THE TRUCK BEGAN ACCELERATING ITSELF TO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 1500 AND 2000 RPM'S I IMMEDIATELY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND AS THE TRUCK PASSED SLOWLY THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, I SHIFTED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL. THE TRUCK RETURNED TO A NORMAL (IDLE) RPM. I GOT BACK INTO THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC AND PROCEEDED. I CALLED A TOYOTA DEALER AND DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM. THE NEXT DAY, I DROVE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME AND MOST OF THAT DRIVING WAS HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE STAFF AND A TOYOTA SERVICE PERSON FROM ANOTHER CITY ALL INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND TEST DROVE IT. THEY FOUND NOTHING. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, IT WAS RETURNED TO ME. THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM ON MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA DOUBLE CAB HAS FELT INCORRECTLY CALIBRATED SINCE THE TRUCK WAS NEW. WHEN I GO OVER A BUMP, HIT A POT HOLE OR AM GOING DOWN A HILL WITH UNEVEN PAVEMENT WHILE BRAKING, THE ABS WILL DISENGAGE THE BRAKES. I HAVE ALMOST RUN INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. IN THE WINTER, IT ALSO HAPPENS REGULARLY IN ANY SNOWY CONDITIONS. THE LOCAL DEALER HAS CHECKED IT AND TOLD ME IT TESTS WITHIN THEIR SPECIFICATIONS. THEY DID REPLACE THE SUSPENSION, SHOCKS AND SPRINGS, SAYING THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SOME COMPLAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN CORRECTED BY A SLIGHTLY SOFTER SUSPENSION. I WAS DRIVING WESTBOUND ON I-90 (KENNEDY EXPRESSWAY) AT APPROXIMATELY 9:40 AM ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 8, 2009, IN MY 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AS A CAR IN FRONT OF ME SLOWED TO EXIT THE EXPRESSWAY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME EXITED, I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND MY TRUCK IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES BUT THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE, EVENTUALLY REACHING 80 MPH. I STEERED THE TRUCK INTO THE FAR RIGHT LANE AND WAS NOW PRESSING AS HARD AS I COULD WITH BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, AT WHICH POINT I DROVE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK, WHERE THE TRUCK FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. THE ENTIRE INCIDENT LASTED LESS THAN 30 SECONDS. WITHIN 15 MINUTES AN IDIOT TRUCK PULLED UP BEHIND ME AND TOWED ME A SHORT DISTANCE UP THE EXPRESSWAY TO A SAFETY AREA, WHERE I WAITED FOR THE AAA TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT LESS THAN 2 YEARS BEFORE. THE DEALER KEPT MY TRUCK UNTIL AUGUST 13, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE REASON THE TRUCK ACCELERATED WAS BECAUSE THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK UNDER THE HEAVY DUTY FLOOR MATS WHICH I HAD PURCHASED FROM THE DEALER AT THE TIME I BOUGHT MY TRUCK. I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY THE PEDAL HAD GOTTEN STUCK UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR MAT, BECAUSE THE FLOOR MAT WAS NOT POSITIONED SO FAR FORWARD THAT THE PEDAL COULD HAVE GOTTEN STUCK ON IT. I WAS DRIVING IN DOWNTOWN HILO GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 MPH. THERE WAS A TRUCK AHEAD OF ME STARTING TO STOP FOR A RED LIGHT. I ALSO STARTED TO BRAKE WHEN SUDDENLY THE TACOMA STARTED TO SURGE. I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKE WITH ALL MY MIGHT BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. I THEN PUMPED THE BRAKES IN DESPERATION. I HIT THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME SLIGHTLY. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE A FEW MONTHS BACK BUT FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO OTHER VEHICLE INVOLVED. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND OTHER OWNERS OF THE TOYOTA TACOMA HAVE HAD THIS SAME IDENTICAL PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED ON SATURDAY, TODAY IS MONDAY AND I WAS PLANNING ON TAKING IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, BUT FROM READING WHAT OTHERS WROTE TOYOTA WILL NOT FIND OR REMEDY THE PROBLEM OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. SO I DON'T EVEN KNOW IF I SHOULD BOTHER. THE TRUCK IS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD AND I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE IT. CONTEMPLATING TRADING IT IN FOR A SUBARU, BUT THE NEXT OWNER WILL BE DRIVING A DANGEROUS VEHICLE. *TR

2008 TOYOTA TACOMA SPORT TRD 4X4 TRUCK. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 65MPH AND WENT TO CHANGE LANES TO PASS AND THE ACCELERATOR SEEMED TO HAVE STUCK AND KEEP ACCELERATING EVEN KNOW I WASN'T PUSHING THE GAS & THE BRAKE FELT LIKE A WEIGHT NOT A NORMAL BRAKE PEDAL. THE TRUCK ALSO HAS HIGHER IDLE AT TIME OF AND HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. THE GARAGE CLAIMS THEY CAN'T FIND AN ISSUE AND THEY TELL YOU NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT. THE CONSEQUENCES TO THIS FAILURE OR ACTION IS VARY DANGEROUS AS THE VEHICLE SEEMS UNCONTROLLABLE AND YOU COULDN'T SLOW IT, EVEN WHEN DOWN SHIFTING IT WOULD WIND OUT. IT LASTS ABOUT 1 MILE OR SO (SOMETIMES LONGER) AND THEN SEEMS TO GO BACK TO NORMAL. MY MAIN CONCERN IS THAT I HAVE ALREADY FILED FOR THE TOYOTA DISPUTE SETTLEMENT PROGRAM BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING TO DATE, I FILED BECAUSE MY BRAND NEW TACOMA HAS MANY,MANY OTHER ISSUES AND NOBODY WILL HELP OR FIX IT BEING CERTIFIED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP/GARAGE OR THE CALIFORNIA TOYOTA CORP. THEY DON'T CARE 1 BIT AND CLAIM IT'S UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE GARAGE NEEDS TO TELL THEM WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT TO FIX IT. A MASSIVE HUGE RUN AROUND. I HAVE ALSO RESEARCHED THIS MYSELF AND IT SEEMS TO BE A GROWING PROBLEM AND HAVE A REPORTED 400+ CASES OF SIMILAR INSTANCES. TOYOTA DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR TRUCKS ANYMORE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE PEOPLE GET SERIOUSLY INJURED AND OR DIE FROM THIS ISSUE. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS TRUCK FOR SEVERAL REASONS AND THAT BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT 1. ALSO YOU CAN FIND MANY MANY MORE OTHERS THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE ON CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM UNDER TOYOTA RECALLS OR PROBLEMS. HAVE A LOOK. THE TRUCKS HAVE MAJOR ISSUES AND NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE ABOUT IT. 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA, JUNE 16, 2008 I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERS GARAGE AND TOLD THEM THAT THE PICKUP MOTOR WAS ENGINE SPEED WOULD RACE WHEN I WAS AS A STOP, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND THAT MY FUEL MILES HAD DROP 5 MILES A GALLON. ALSO THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLAM IN AND OUT OF LOW GEAR GOING UP AND DOWN A HILL. THEY CLAIM THEY PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER AND IT DID NOT SHOW ANY ERROR. SO THAT THE TRUCK IS FINE, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS PROBABLY FROM WHEN MY AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON I TOLD THEM I DON'T RUN MY AIR CONDITIONER. BUT THE TOLD ME TO JUST WATCH IT BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.

2008 TOYOTA TACOMA PICKUP TRUCK- I WAS WEARING A PAIR OF STEEL TIP WORKBOOTS WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AT A CONVENIENCE STORE. I HIT THE BRAKE BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN ACTUATED IS CLOSER TO THE FLOOR THAN THE TOP PART OF THE GAS PEDAL. WITH STEEL TIP WORK BOOTS BEING WORN WHICH ARE WIDER THAN STREET SHOES I ACTUATED THE BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. THE TRUCK SHOT FORWARD IN THE PARKING SPOT AND HIT A TUBULAR PYLON FILLED WITH CONCRETE. THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT KEPT THE VEHICLE FROM CRASHING INTO A PERSON OR BUILDING. FLOOR JACK, WHEN CHANGING A DAMAGED MUD FLAP FROM THE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE TRUCK, I PLACED THE FLOOR JACK WHERE THE TOYOTA MANUAL RECOMMENDS, AFTER THE WHOLE (1/4IN LESS THAN WHOLE) EXTENSION OF THE JACK WAS APPLIED THE TIRE WAS BARELY LIFTED ABOVE GROUND, THIS WAS DONE ON MY HOMES DRIVE WAY A TOTALLY FLAT AREA WITH NO INCLINATION ANYWAY AND ALL PROPER SECURITY PUT IN PLACE AND THE FLOOR JACK WAS INCLINED...
