Transmission slipping in 2nd gear and losing power. No warning lights, but the loss of power could've resulted in an accident had it been in an intersection. I can reproduce the issue, but the dealer says they are unable to. That said, there are other issues with power delivery such as RPM flutter that they have acknowledged in writing.

The vehicle is a 2024 Toyota Tacoma SR5 that was later traded for a 2025 Tacoma SR5 due to a serious safety defect involving the rear brake lines. The problem is the same one described in Toyota’s recall: the rear brake hoses can be damaged by debris, resulting in brake fluid loss and potential brake failure. The safety risk was significant. The vehicle was used to transport a young child, and because the brake lines could fail without warning, the truck could not be safely operated for daily driving. Multiple franchised Toyota dealerships confirmed that they had no remedy parts available for several months and that the repair could not be performed. This left the vehicle without a functional safety repair for an extended period. The manufacturer’s public statements indicated that a fix existed, but dealerships consistently stated the opposite. No alternate transportation, loaner vehicle, or temporary replacement was provided during this period. The defect was not reproducible by driving because of the risk involved, but the safety issue was acknowledged by dealerships who stated that the recall was active and unresolved. The vehicle was effectively unusable for normal safe operation. No warning lights appeared on the dashboard; the hazard is related to the physical brake line design and exposure to debris rather than an electronic sensor. The vehicle was inspected by multiple Toyota dealerships, all of whom confirmed that no repair could be performed at the time. The component was not replaced, repaired, or made safe before the vehicle was traded out of due to the unresolved safety defect. The situation caused substantial safety concerns and financial hardship and appears to reflect a wider problem in remedy availability for this recall.

I’m filing this report because the dealership where I purchased and have my vehicle regularly serviced failed to notify us of an active safety recall related to the brake system on our Toyota truck. The dealership is Classic Toyota – located at 2301 W Mercury Blvd, Hampton, VA 23666. The recall was issued in February 2025, yet the vehicle has been serviced by the same Toyota dealer multiple times since then, including an oil change and a state inspection. The dealer never mentioned the open recall or offered to repair it. I bought the truck prior to the recall in July of 2024. We only learned of the recall recently through the Toyota app, not from the dealership. This is unacceptable given that brake recalls pose a serious safety risk. I am requesting an investigation into this dealership’s failure to notify or perform the recall repair as required by federal law.

I have this truck from 2024 , the safety recall came up from February 2025 . But the company not fixing this issue. I’m a rideshare platform driver . My rideshare company also remove this vehicle from their platform for open safety recall . I contacted with my dealer also the Toyota main phone number . They still not solving my issues . Please help me out I’m now job less person because of this vehicle

Checked by HTN AUTO SHOP at 800 N Western Ave, Oklahoma City, OK-73106. Shop owner said it could be a problem sooner or later since the car is operated under dirt road a lot and recommand me not driving it very often. However i drives a lot, to go to other states and also to many off roads. Average drivers drive 12k miles a year. I bought this truck [XXX], today is 8/8/2025 and have already put on over 18k miles which would translate to about 27000 miles a year, i drives 2.5 times more than others and i need my vehicle to be safe as i drive my wife and my [XXX] baby. Toyota manufacture kept saying me they wont pay directly to the rental because there is no loaner with the vin, they said just go and rent and send them a bill later and they will review for reimburse. I spoke with Fowler toyota rental and service manager they said the recall for my car wont be avaiable till October- that is another 2 months from now. The dealership do aware this is safety recall and i should get a rental but im not comtable with Toyota may review and 2 months later rejected my rental bill for reimburse. Toyota Corporate kept telling me they have to review later. First call with them on 08/07/2025- the lady told me that Toyota will definitely review and pay for the reimbursement, i just need to go rent and pay for them myself first then reimburst later. I told her i cant do that i need Toyota to pay directly and she said there was nothing she can do. Then i went to Fowler Toyota TRAC department (rent a toyota) at dealership and told the dealership i want to leave my truck there till recall is done and i need a rental. Fowler toyota manager said i need to try to contact TOYOTA corporate again and try to have them pay directly to the dealership for the rental so i called Toyota corporate again while i was waiting at the dealership and again they refused said i need to pay upfront first and they will review for reimburse later. See attached document for complaint. I am writing to formally notify you of a serious unresolved safety issue regarding my leased 2024 Toyota Tacoma (VIN: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX), currently subject to the official safety recall (NHTSA Recall No. 25V-058 / Toyota Recall No. 24TA04 - Interim Notice 25TB04). Despite repeated attempts to schedule the recall service with Toyota of Orlando, no effective remedy ha been provided to date. The recall documentation clearly states that the defect can cause brake fluid leakage and a potential loss of braking ability, significantly increasing the risk of crash. As a parent of a XXXXXXXXXXt, I cannot safely operate this vehicle under such circumstances. The inability of Toyota to resolve this urgent safety defect in a timely manner not only violates consumer trust but also places my family at unacceptable risk. Therefore: I. I demand immediate confirmation of when and how the recall repair will be completed. 2. If Toyota i unable or unwilling to promptly resolve this issue, I will be forced to escalate the matter through legal counsel, including seeking termination of my lease contract without penalty. 3. I am also notifying all relevant government agencies. including NHTSA of Toyota's failure to provide a timely and safe resolution. Attached are copies of the recall notice, service invoices, and related communications for your record . I expect a written response within 10 business days from the receipt of this letter.

Multimedia audio system in Toyota vehicles does not mute music being played when using Car Play to read text messages as it was designed by Apple. This causes the driver to have to mess with the audio button and turn off the music while driving when listening to or replying to a text message. Hands free integration of a cellphone working in a vehicle as designed by the cellphone manufacturer should be required by the vehicle manufacturer if they state it is a feature when purchasing one of their vehicles. Reports to the vehicle manufacture about this flaw have been disregarded and they state it is working as designed. Reports to the cellphone manufacturer state that it is not working as they intend it to, but vehicle manufacturer refuses to fix it.

My concerns are with the remote capabilities of this Toyota Tacoma that has been lent to us by the i5 dealership in chehalis wa. We are using this vehicle while they complete repairs on our truck. Home link, Apple Music, remote connect, Sirius XM, and other functionalities are being used for surveillance, stalking, spying and remotely unlocking the vehicle. The truck has been broken into at least 3 times, twice my debit cards were stolen and the other time a sd card was put into the truck. Initially I believed this could’ve been something I inadvertently did but when I saw the pictures on the card I knew this wasn’t the case. My family and I have been under attack by a dod vendor, [XXX] , who is putting forth an extraordinary effort to criminally impersonate me by linking all of my families electronic devices to a LAN that is managed by him. The LAN allows him to then add mdm to the individual devices and he has restricted me from obtaining any help with his intrusions for the last two years. Issues such as this, that should be easily addressed, become monumental tasks. I attempted to submit this report 2 times last night to no avail. I then called in to the number and was told they don’t take reports of this nature and that I should call the manufacturer. A google search told me this claim was untrue, so here I am, back here attempting to once again complete the report. For someone who wants nothing other than my demise to have control over a vehicle I’m being forced to drive is cause for great concern. I do not know what other automations he has enabled but I can also see that the homelink has also been set up in some capacity. The screen in the truck states that my speed and location may not be accurately reflected on other displays. There appear to be WiFi and hotspot connections that we have been unsuccessful connecting to, which is fine..but their mere presence concern me. Back up camera is not shielded correctly and rain accumulates on the camera everytime that it rains. it does not matter if it is a light rain ir a heavy rain. This causes the image to be very blurry and creates a hazard.

I am reporting a safety concern related to my Toyota vehicle involving the all-weather floor mat on the driver’s side. I have noticed that the mat consistently becomes caught on top of the clutch pedal when I press the pedal all the way down. This causes the mat to obstruct the pedal’s full range of motion, making it difficult to fully disengage the clutch. As a result, I have to be extremely cautious and pull over to manually adjust the mat whenever this happens, as it poses a potential safety hazard while driving. I have recorded a video showing this issue occurring, but the file size is too large to submit through the NHTSA portal. As an alternative, I have taken a screenshot from the video that clearly shows the mat interfering with the clutch pedal. I am concerned that this issue could lead to an unsafe driving situation, especially in emergency or high-stress driving conditions. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, as it may affect other vehicles with similar all-weather floor mats.

1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The multimedia head unit / Apple CarPlay system is malfunctioning. The screen randomly disconnects, goes black, and frequently fails to connect to iPhones. The system displays “Retry,” and at times Apple CarPlay will only reconnect through Bluetooth settings instead of normal wired/wireless operation. Both vehicles are available for inspection upon request. 2. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The failure creates a safety hazard because the screen disconnects or goes black while driving, causing sudden loss of navigation, phone functions, and display information. This forces the driver to look down, attempt to reconnect the phone, or search through Bluetooth menus while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of distraction and a potential collision. 3. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. I have already taken both of my new-generation Tacomas to Toyota for inspection. The dealership was unable to reproduce the malfunction, even though the issue happens repeatedly during normal driving. The problem occurs on multiple iPhones, confirming it is not phone-specific. 4. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The multimedia system has only been inspected by Toyota, but no police, insurance, or manufacturer inspection beyond the dealership has taken place. The issue remains ongoing and can be inspected at any time. 5. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes. I have taken both of my Tacomas to Toyota for inspection, but the dealer was unable to reproduce the problem. The issue happens repeatedly during normal driving and occurs on multiple iPhones, so it is not a phone-specific issue. The vehicles have only been inspected by Toyota at the dealership level. No inspections have been done by the manufacturer, police, or insurance. The problem is ongoing and the vehicles are available for inspection at any time. The symptoms include the screen showing “Retry,” disconnecting without warning, going completely black, switching to Bluetooth-only connection, and failing to recognize iPhones at startup. These issues appear randomly on different days and with multiple iPhones. No other vehicle warning lights were present.

Gas gauge is showing the incorrect amount of fuel left. I filled up for gas 3 days ago, my commute is very short so I know I didn't burn through that much gas in 3 days. I was in between 3/4ths and full with 229 DTE before leaving. Got to my destination and I now had a full tank of gas and 246 DTE. I reset the gauge per the manual and it now shows 3/4ths with 176 DTE. Many people with Tundra's have had the same issue. Some say its due to filling up the tank past 3/4ths and parking on an incline. I would really hate to get stranded or run out of fuel driving around town. It has not been brought to the dealer yet I'm waiting to get an oil change. No warning messages or any kind and this is the first time happening at around 830 miles.

BACK OVER PREVENTION

I was traveling home from work. Upon leaving work the backup camera on my truck worked as expected. Once I arrived home the back up camera and all other camera would not appear on the screen and the screen was blank. I attempted to put the truck from drive to reverse several times and the back up camera would not appear. I attempted to use the "view" button located on the console and the cameras would not appear. I then resulted in parking the truck, turning the truck off, starting the truck, and then testing which this time the cameras did work. Things of interest that may play a role. I did use android auto for the journey. I did also check that the built-in system appeared on the screen after disconnecting my phone. I do have a video of the experience if there is a way to upload that.

Since day one vibration and pulsing 30-45MPH. Dealer confirmed vibration and said it common with my vehicle and nothing can be done. Returned to dealer same issue confirmed by tech and service manager and they charged $75 for tire balance at 5,000 miles. Returned next day and drove another identical model and 3 lesser versions of Tacoma’s. They claim they have no fix and suggested I trade it in for a Tundra and take a $10,000 deductions from my sticker price. Now when I stop slowly theres a thump and surge in the drive train like s load shifted in the bed. And intermittently when going from a dead stop the engine rev’s nothing happens for a second and it clunks into gear and shifts harshly. Again claim there’s nothing they can do.

My 2024 Tacoma SR5 was stuttering and felt like the wheels are locking up when I accelerate I have to go very slow because when going anything over 30 MPH feels very unsafe and is hard to control and handle it shut off a lot of my systems like crash detection and 2-3 other ones are cut off on my dash it threw a check engine light so going to take it in to Toyota tomorrow to get it looked at I don’t know if I even want this truck anymore.

On 11/14/2024 the windshield wipers started malfunctioning on my leased Toyota Tacoma. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. On 11/22/2024 I took the vehicle to Premier Toyota for service. I was told they do not have the parts, that was 9 weeks ago. This vehicle is unsafe with malfunctioning wipers.

I was driving along and the top hat on my suspension blew out. Toyota used a cast aluminum top hat on the top of the coil over and the shock blew through the top of the top shock mount. They used a steel top hat on the 4Runner so I believe they know it is an issue but haven’t had enough issues with it yet to do a recall. I uploaded a picture of what my coil over looks like after it happened and what it is supposed to look like. Stock trd offroad suspension.

The strut blew through the top hat on the drivers side strut assembly/strut mount driving on a state highway. This design has a cast aluminum top hat that bears the dynamic forces and shocks. It can, and in my case, did catastrophically fail. Had failure happened at higher speeds or under other circumstances it could impair controlability at speed. There are no warning lights or sensors available for this problem. Online owner's forums for the new 2024 model year of the Toyota Tacoma (so-called 4th generation) are starting to report this identical failure. The local dealer is replacing the defective components with the same components.

Lane keeping will kamikaze the vehicle on to exit ramps or exit only lanes when engaged at a highway speed. This seems most common when the truncated lane markers, usually used on exit-only lanes, and not the full length lane markers (the center line markings). Example: Vehicle is traveling at a static heading, freeway speed, two lane limited access freeway, driver in control, all lane keeping and adaptive features engaged. When an exit lane approaches on right, vehicle abruptly deviates to the exit lane with zero driver intent or inputs. Once vehicle system realizes the error, system alerts, notifies of a lane departure, and disables the lane keeping. Particularly problematic is that vehicle actively fights driver inputs to restore the intended course as it appears to believe the driver is in error. This is not a one-off occurrence. It is very consistent. To the point when I can anticipate, disable the system or counter steer to keep the vehicle course straight. It seems the vehicle cannot properly identify the shortened / truncated pavement markings correctly, leading to this undesirable course adjustment.

The vehicle lane departure will regularly steer the vehicle across lane dividing lines and leave the lane of travel. In one instance the truck continued to attempt to steer right even after crossing the white line. This complaint and specific instances were confirmed by the manufacturer however the manufacturer claims the vehicle is behaving as expected due to “limitations”. As such Toyota is saying the vehicle is going to regularly depart the lane automatically and they do not intend to perform nor pursue any fix.

The vehicle has a vibration at speeds in excess of 40mph. The dealer has confirmed that the wheels are balanced and that the truck is in alignment. They have duplicated the issue on my truck and have driven an identical model and experienced the same inherent vibration. There are also mentions of this vibration in Tacoma forums online specific to the TRD Off-road variant

When I was driving my new truck the transmission failed. It would not change gears forward or reverse. The RMP started ramping up in the red. Check engine light on drive start control malfunction. Advanced ultrasonic detecting and ranging system. The led screen was going hoops asking for code and updating while driving day before transmission went. Called dealer. Had the car towed. Later that day was told bye dealer the transmission needs to be replaced. Did research to find out Toyota new theses transmission are faulty and have not recalled. If I where on highway or similar roads I drive daily I would have been hurt. This problem will cause a accident. I am aware the NHTSA has been informed, reached out to Toyota and Toyota has not responded nor have they started a safety recall. My fear is they are waiting for someone to get hurt or killed. My dealer also informed me another customer with a tacoma has been waiting since may 2024 for a transmission.

The driver seat manual height adjustment. When you raise the drivers seat to the maximum height, within 30 minutes of driving, the seat slowly lowers on its own. I would have to give it 2-3 cranks to raise the seat. Overnight, the next morning, without anyone in the seat, it needs 2-3 cranks to raise the seat back to its maximum height. I’m afraid it may get worse in time and might just lower all the way down when driving. This is a daily occurrence.

While driving I received numerous system malfunction warnings followed by a message to visit my dealership. While driving into the dealership the vehicle started losing power and engine went into complete failure. It is now at dealership and waiting for it to be inspected. When alerts first went off I was unable to stop because I was on a busy dangerous street.

My Tacoma had approximately 221 miles on it. I was slowly driving "6mph" starting to pull into my driveway when all of a sudden all 4 brakes locked and came to a sudden stop. I took it to the dealership: Toyota of Wichita Falls (Texas). They found nothing wrong. There are other issues with this vehicle that the service person would not address. The windshield has a visual defect which presents itself as diagonal lines in bright situations when a car or other object is in front of the vehicle. The diagonal lines will appear in high contrast situations during the day, or at night when an oncoming vehicle's lights are on.

Additionally, the contact received notifications of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V058000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and 25V595000 (Electrical System); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The contact stated that the instrument panel was blank at start-up. The contact also stated that the infotainment system screen was blank intermittently while driving, which required the driver to pull over to the side of the road to turn off and restart the vehicle. The dealer was contacted several times for the recall repairs, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by voicemail message. The failure mileage was approximately 80.

These covers separate from the truck body, especially at the corners, during normal use. This is not caused by aftermarket accessories, but appears to result from the flawed design and attachment method. A significant number of 4th generation (2024+) Tacoma owners are experiencing similar problems with lifting and separation of these factory-installed covers. Owner forums, complaint boards, and dealer interactions reveal this is a widespread defect affecting many vehicles. Owners report frustration with the lack of a permanent solution from the manufacturer, and many have sought dealership repairs or warranty replacements, only to have the issue recur within days or weeks. The factory-installed (and warranty replacement) rail covers are attached using double-stick tape and a single row of plastic clips, which does not provide sufficient security, especially at highway speeds. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V058000(Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that while reversing at 5-7 MPH and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to respond, accelerated unintendedly, and crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle. The other vehicle sustained damage. There was no injury sustained. The contact was able to drive away from the scene. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,652.

I was informed by the service manager at Labadie Toyota (Bay City, MI) that the new 2.4L Turbos have injector issues! Some Sienna's Tacoma's, and other models have faulty direct injectors that spray way too much fuel into the cylinders, and it drains into the oil reservoir! I had my oil changed at 1K, 5K and 10K by the dealership. I've had this issue at 5K and I presumed service center incompetence, and they agreed. I recently had my oil changed at 10K and came back in 2 weeks later with check engine light on and excessive engine chatter. I was told this a known Toyota engineering issue, and they are now telling the techs to look into the cylinders to look for clean/washed piston tops. Today they just changed my oil and told me to come back in 3 weeks or if issues arise. I'm concerned about a fire with gas going into the engine oil and potentially causing a fire. Toyota engineering is aware of this issue I was told so I would a recall to be issued so there is no issues with a fire happening.

2024 new 4th-generation Tacoma Hybrid Limited. During driving in snow or rain, the front chrome grille or another component in the front, appears to collect water. Periodically, it releases a sudden burst of water or snow onto both sides of the windshield. The impact is abrupt, like having a snowball or large splash of water thrown at the glass, and is startling because it’s unexpected. This happens on both the driver and passenger sides, (but not at the same time) temporarily impairing visibility and potentially increasing the risk of an accident. Note: This occurs every time it snows or rains.

VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE MODE. WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL, IN DRIVE OR REVERSE MODE, THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND FROZE VEHICLE IN PLACE. BARELY ABLE TO MANEUVER VEHICLE BY STRAIGHTENING STEERING WHEEL AS BEST I COULD TO GET IT TO PARK. AS I ACCELERATED TO GET IT TO MOVE, BRAKES ACTIVATED AGAINST IT. NO ALARM/NOTICE APPEARED ON DASHBOARD TO SWITCH TO 2-WHEEL MODE. TOW TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED, IDENTIFIED PROBLEM, BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET IT TO 2-WHEEL MODE. TOWED TO SANTA MARIA CA TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER. THEY CORRECTED TO 2-WHEEL MODE, CHECKED TO CONFIRM NO DAMAGE, AND WROTE IT OFF AS DRIVER ERROR/LACK OF GENERAL KNOWLEDGE.

Vehicle lurched forward with a “bang” accelerating in stop and go traffic. Vehicle then stalled and flashed multiple warnings. Hybrid system failure. Drive mode failure. General failure. Vehicle would not restart on first attempt - multiple attempts made to restart. Upon restarting, it would not move forward in Drive, prompting a new error stating it needed to be returned to park. After a couple more restarts it was able to engage the gear and move forward. Power was limited, it drove differently, and the hybrid error persisted.

I have a new 2024 Toyota Tacoma that I purchased December 2024. my dashboard lit up the morning of Thursday, April 17. Drive start warning on the dashboard and a secondary breaking malfunction warning I contacted my local Toyota dealer and informed him that my vehicle is giving me warnings and I only have 13,000 miles on the vehicle. I took the vehicle and they told me that it was the fuel pump they replaced the fuel pump return the vehicle to me, and before I could leave the parking lot both codes on the dashboard shut up again and the vehicle would not move. I am writing this report to document what is going on with the vehicle. I believe that it is a lemon and there’s something majorly wrong with it. I brought the vehicle brand new in December and again it’s only has 13,000 miles on it right now.

Stopping at a stop light, after coming to a complete stop, vehicle will want to slowly creep forward and you need to press a little harder on the brake pedal. If you don't pay attention, you will creep into the vehicle in front of you. I am in the transmission TSB range.

I bought a 2024 Tacoma TRD Off Road Premium Package through MAS ( Military Auto Source ). I picked the vehicle up from the Bremerhaven port in Germany on 08 July 2024 it was missing the back bed charging adapter box but MAS said they would cover the cost in writing to fix no big deal and I drove it back to Weiden Germany. Today 09 July 2024 I lost the ability to shift into 2nd, 4th, and 6th gear. There is only 2 of these vehicles in the country of germany right now. The vehicle has approximately 735 Km on it. It probably would have happen early had i been shifting more but the majority of my first in it was on the Autobaun in 6th gear going roughly 130 Km most of the way with no down shifting or ciry driving. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by a toyota tech due to the vehicle not being produced in Germany but it doesnt take a genius to look up the issue your having and see the exact thing from multiple other Toyota owners. Truck has an issue where certain safety systems are disabled when a trailer is detected. This is normal. However, the truck is failing to notice once a trailer has been disconnected and this keeps the safety features disabled during normal driving. Toyota has yet to address the issue. There are many people complaining online. Not safe and very disappointing.
