THE HEADLIGHTS WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF, AND HAVE TO BE MANUALLY TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON. REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS OF LIGHTS DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. COMPLETE REMOVAL OF THE XENON BALLAST AND SEALING THE BALLAST SEEMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, AND SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF THE BALLAST THAT CAUSES MOISTURE TO INVADE, AND SHORT THE HEADLIGHTS OUT.

THE LEFT HEADLIGHT FLICKERS AND TURNS OFF. CHANGING THE BULB DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND NEITHER DID CHANGING THE BALLAST. I FOUND THAT THERE WAS A SETTLED CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HOWEVER THEY SAID THAT THE LAWSUIT EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR HEADLIGHTS TO 5 YEARS. THE LAWSUIT WAS SETTLED IN 2013 AND MY CAR IS A 2006 MODEL SO I AM NOT SURE HOW IT COULD EVER HELP ME.

2006 AUDI A4 QUATTRO, A VERY ANNOYING SITUATION IT ALSO AFFECTS SAFETY WHILE DRIVING IN DARK; I IGNORED IT FOR FEW MONTHS AS IT GOT WORST DECIDED TO TAKE IT IN. THEY SUGGESTED TO REPLACE BOTH IGNITERS (XENON BALLAST) AND BULBS. MY AUDI DEALER SAID THAT AUDI KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT -- CHANGING THE LIGHT BULB DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. SINCE MY CAR WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY IT WOULD BE ABOUT $1600. THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. IT HAS BEEN OCCURRING A LOT RECENTLY WITH THE COLD WEATHER. I CAN'T TELL FOR SURE WHETHER IT IS TEMPERATURE RELATED. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND MOST IMPORTANTLY A MAJOR SAFETY

The contact owns a 2006 Audi A4. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the wife crashed into the rear of a second vehicle. During the crash the front driver side air bag did not deploy, however, the passenger side airbag did deploy, and both the front and rear driver side and passenger side headrest restraints activated. The contact indicated that no passengers were present in the vehicle during the crash. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not contacted. The local dealer was notified. The failure mileage was 160,000.

MY PERSONAL AUDI A4 WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION ON AN INNER-CITY ROAD DUE TO LOSS OF FRICTION ON FROZEN ICE. DESPITE THERE ONLY BEING A DRIVER PRESENT IN THE CAR, THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG FROM THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT ACTIVATE WHILE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DID. I HAD ALREADY PREVIOUSLY CHECKED THE TAKATA RECALL, WHICH AFFECT THE EXACT MODEL OF MY VEHICLE, YET WHEN I ENTERED THE VIN, IT DISPLAYED THAT NO RECALLS WERE PRESENT. THE COLLISION HAPPENED AT A SPEED OF LESS THAN 25 MPH, AND THE UNNEEDED DAMAGE COSTS PF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS ALONGSIDE THE HEALTH RISKS OF NOT HAVING AN AIRBAG DEPLOY FOR THE DRIVER HAS LED ME TO FILING THIS COMPLAINT AS IT WAS A VERY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE.

ON 7/15/18 I HAD A MYSTERIOUS ACCIDENT IN OTTAWA COUNTY, MICHIGAN, WHERE I WAS KNOCKED OUT FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OFF ANYTHING AT LEAST A FEW MINUTES BEFORE THE ACCIDENT. MY 2006 A6 QUATTRO 3.2 AVANT (STATION WAGON) WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE COUNTY POLICE RESCUED ME AND SENT ME TO THE HOLLAND HOSPITAL FOR A SERIES OF VERY COSTLY PROCEDURES. THE POLICE REPORT WROTE THAT THE AIRBAG WAS DEPLOYED. AND BECAUSE IT WAS NOT IN A MAJOR INTERSECTION, A SIMPLE STOP SIGN AT THE US-31, FROM THE INFORMATION IN THE REPORT, I SUSPECT I HAD NOT FACED ANY IMPENDING CRASH TO HAVE HAD TO PUSH THE BREAKS HARD, AND MY VEHICLE ONLY STOPPED BECAUSE IT HIT A VALLEY SHAPED DITCH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF RELATED TAKATA AIRBAG FAILURES ON THOSE TYPES OF CARS, BY THE, ON BOTH SIDES, I SUGGEST A THOUGHROUGH INVESTIGATION OF THE CASE. I WAS BLESSED OR LUCKY TO HAVE NOT LOST MY LIFE NOR BECAME SERIOUSLY INJURED, BUT MY FINANCIAL LOSSES AND LEGAL COMPLICATIONS AMOUNTED TO A LOT. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AT RISK OF NOT HAVING THEIR LIVES END BECAUSE OF AN UNNECESSARY MECHANICAL FAILURE IN THE AUDI VEHICLES.

CVT TRANSMISSION TOTAL FAILURE - TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST ADVISES THAT SEVERAL OF THE FIRST CVT TRANSMISSIONS RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC WERE DEFECTIVE IN DESIGN AND PRODUCTION, AND HAVE BEEN UPGRADED OVER THE YEARS TO CORRECT FOR THESE EARLY DEFICIENCIES. THE SPECIALIST FURTHER ADVISES THAT AUDI AND SATURN ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THESE DEFECTS. IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE TRAVELING ON A MAJOR ROADWAY. ALL OF THE INDICATOR LIGHTS IN THE GEAR SELECTOR STARTED FLASHING SIMULTANEOUSLY, AND THE VEHICLE WAS LEFT IMMOBILE IN AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS POSITION. AUDI QUOTED MORE THAN $8,000 TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION REPAIR WAS COMPLETED BY A LOCAL TRANSMISSION EXPERT FOR A LITTLE OVER $5,000. IT IS THIS EXPERT WHO ADVISED OF THE LONG-STANDING AND WELL-ESTABLISHED PROBLEMS IN AUDI'S EARLY CVT TRANSMISSIONS, AND SAID DEFINITIVELY THAT AUDI SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO HANDLE THIS AS A SAFETY AND DESIGN/MANUAFACTURING DEFECT RECALL.

PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MARCH 2012. APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS LATER THE "CHECK ENGINE " LIGHT CAME ON . HAD THE CODES CHECKED AND MAIN CODE CAME BACK P0722 WHICH DIRECTED ME TO A "DEALERSHIP ONLY" REPAIR. IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THE TCM WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACING. I FIND OUT AUDI INITIALLY USED A FAULTY PLASTIC PART THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF WOULD FAIL. I CALLED AUDI USA FOR ASSISTANCE AND THEY WORKED OUT A 15% DISCOUNT WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND NO ASSISTANCE FROM AUDI USA. I INFORMED THEM THAT I STILL FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT IF THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH AUDI TRANSMISSIONS THEN THEY SHOULD COVER FULL COST OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR

I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT WAS RECALLED THE AIRBAG?

I HAVE AN AUDI A4 2006 THAT I PURCHACED AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. SHORTLY AFTER IN NOVEMBER 2009 I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM AUDI OF AMERICA "UPCOMING VOLUNTARY EMISSIONS SERVICE ACTION 28F2/JI IGNITION COIL INSPECTION REPLACEMENT"'. AT THE TIME I WASN'T HAVING ANY PROBLEMS BUT TOOK THE CAR TO DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND HAD THE COILS CHECKED. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I WENT STRAIGHT BACK TO HAVE IT CHECKED. THERE WAS NEVER ANYTHING ''WRONG"' SO I COULDN'T TRUST THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THIS SEEMED TO BECOME A ROUTINE WHENEVER I WENT TO THE DEALER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS SURELY TO COME ON. SO MUCH SO THAT I STOPPED GOING TO THAT DEALER FOR SERVICING, ITS NOT UNCOMMON TO HEAR THAT WOMEN THAT GO TO GET THEIR CAR SERVICED GET "SPECIAL'' TREATMENT. I AM ALWAYS SKEPTICAL OF THAT. NOW I HAVE 60,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND AFTER EXPERIENCING SEVERE SHAKING AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND BLINKING ONE OF THE ITEMS THAT AROSE AGAIN WAS THE COILS REPLACED FOR $424.22 A MISFIRE CYL 4 CAUSED BY IGNITION COIL MISFIRE IN CYL 4. APPARENTLY THE RECALL "'IS OVER" THAT WAS THE DETAILED AND THOUGHTFUL EXPLANATION I WAS GIVEN BY THE REPRESENTATIVE FROM NEW COUNTRY AUDI IN GREENWICH, CT. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW A RECALL COULD EVER BE OVER AS IT WILL BE UNSAFE AND COSTLY TO THE CUSTOMER FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE.

I EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OF MY CAR WHEN I STARTED ACCELERATING AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. I HAD NO INDICATION AS TO WHAT WAS CAUSING THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. AFTER PUTTING THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, SLAMMING ON THE BREAKS AND USING THE EMERGENCY BREAK THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED AFTER GOING ABOUT A QUARTER OF A MILE. ONCE I GOT THE CAR TO STOP, I KEPT THE CAR TURNED ON AND CALLED 911 WHO DISPATCHED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. I GOT OUT OF MY CAR BECAUSE I WAS SCARED AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO.. I DIDN'T KNOW IF IT WAS OK TO TURN THE CAR OFF. BECAUSE THE ACCELERATOR WAS FLOORED BY THE CAR MAT THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED. THE FIREMAN HAD TO BREAK THE WINDOW TO GET INTO THE CAR AND THE FIREMAN FOUND THE CAR MAT LODGED UNDER THE ACCELERATOR AND HAD TO RIP IT OUT FROM UNDER THE PEDAL. I HAD NEVER HAD ANY INDICATION PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THAT MY CAR MAT COULD MOVE AND GET LODGED. PER THE FIREMAN, THIS HAPPENS A LOT WITH THESE TYPES OF CAR MATS. I DIDN'T GET FURTHER EXPLANATION FROM HIM, BUT AFTER TALKING TO MANY PEOPLE AND SCOURING THE INTERNET I FOUND THAT NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE ACCELERATOR GET STUCK BECAUSE OF THE CAR MAT IN THEIR AUDI'S. IN SOME CASES IT WAS THE AUDI DEALERSHIP TELLING THEM THE CAUSE WAS THE CAR MAT. AUDI REFUSES TO RECOGNIZE ANY FLAW WITH THE DESIGN AND REFUSED TO REIMBURSE ME FOR MY EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE INCIDENT. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON OCTOBER 17, 2012, THE 2006 AUDI A4 THAT I WAS DRIVING WENT INTO UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION. THE FIRST INSTANCE OCCURRED ABOUT 5:30 PM WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP, AFTER A STOP LIGHT TURNED GREEN, TO A SPEED OF 55 MPH (WHICH WAS THE MAXIMUM SPEED ALLOWED). AS I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR AS THE VEHICLE APPROACHED THE 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE - EVEN THOUGH I HAD RETRACTED MY FOOT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. TO GET THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL I QUICKLY AND FIRMLY TAPPED THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE THEN SLOWED DOWN. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER, I WAS REQUIRED TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AS CARS IN FRONT OF ME MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN. AFTER THE (3) VEHICLES MADE THEIR TURN, I THEN QUICKLY ACCELERATED THE CAR UP TO THE 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT. AS MY CAR REACHED THE 45 MPH LIMIT I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. BUT. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I THEN CHANGED THE GEAR SHIFT FROM "DRIVE" TO "NEUTRAL". THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO INCREASE IN SPEED (THE ENGINE WAS "SCREAMING" AT MAXIMUM RPM) BUT I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE CAR DOWN WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO "SCREAM" AT MAXIMUM RPM'S UNTIL I TURNED THE KEY TO THE VEHICLE TO THE "OFF" POSITION. BASED ON THE ABOVE, MY WIFE WILL NOT LONGER DRIVE OUR AUDI A4. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE LIGHTLY PLACING HIS FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PROCEED FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT DRIVER INTENT. HE PLACED THE GEAR SELECTOR INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, BARELY AVOIDING A CRASH WITH A VEHICLE AHEAD OF HIM. THE VEHICLE WAS IN POSSESSION OF THE DEALER FOR ONE WEEK; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,015.

ACCELERATOR STUCK WHEN I WAS STOPPING FOR A RED LIGHT AFTER DRIVING IN NORMAL RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BY SLAMMING ON BRAKES (BUT I DID NOT THINK TO SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE), AND THE ENGINE SLOWED AFTER A MOMENT OR TWO. THEN THE ENGINE RACED AGAIN EVERY TIME I TOOK FOOT OFF BRAKE PEDAL. THIS CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE TO GET OFF ROAD AND PARK. I TURNED OFF THE CAR, THEN TURNED IT ON AGAIN, AND AGAIN THE ENGINE RACED. I CALLED MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO CHECK THE FLOOR MAT - I DID, AND IT WAS NOT UNDER ACCELERATOR PEDAL. HI. I HAVE HAD SAME ISSUE ON TWO DIFFERENT 2.0T FSI ENGINES. CARBON BUILD UP ON THE INTAKE VALVES WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO ONE OF THE INTAKE VALVES, THUS ENGINE HEAD NEEDING REBUILDING. AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON, BEFORE THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MOVE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE ENGINE FAILED. ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16TH AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 P.M. IT WAS DETERMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT ASE CERTIFIED AUTO-CENTER IN MILFORD, OHIO THAT THE ENGINE HAD GOOD OIL PRESSURE HOWEVER AUDI STATED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE DAMAGE. THE CAM SHAFT DID SHOW WEAR AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE P CODES P2293 AND P0089 ON THE HPFP. I THEN RETURNED THAT INFORMATION BACK TO AUDI DEALERSHIP ? AUDI CONNECTION IN MONTGOMERY, OHIO WHERE I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER EXPLAINING THAT THEY DID NOT SEE ANY SIGNS OF LOW OIL PRESSURE ISSUES AND REQUESTED THEM TO HONOR THE INTERNALCAMPAIGN ON THE WORN CAM SHAFT/CAM FOLLOWER ISSUE. HE THEN REFUSED TO HONOR MY APPEAL AND STATED THAT IT DID HAVE INTERNAL DAMAGE DUE TO LACKOF OIL PRESSURE SHOWING NO EVIDENCE ONLY TO REFUSE TO DISCUSS THIS MATTER ANY FURTHER WITH ME RETURNING BACK TO HIS OFFICE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 AUDI A4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A SWEET, BURNING SMELL PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE FOR TWO YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE CONTACT WAS ALWAYS ADVISED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE RADIATOR FAILED AT ONE POINT AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC THAT A PLASTIC PIECE OF THE RADIATOR HAD FRACTURED ON AND ALLOWED ANTI -FREEZE TO LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE SWEET, BURNING ODOR. MY 2006 AUDI A4 JUST DIED ON THE ROAD THE DAY AFTER I DID THE 95K SERVICES.. COULDN'T START UP THE CAR AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS AND FINALLY WHEN I COULD, IT WAS VERY LOUD AND SHAKY.. GOT SOME SMELLS FROM THE FRONT ALSO BUT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. AUDI ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN THAT I FOUND ON YOUR WEBSITE. THIS BULLETIN WAS REGARDING THE EXACT PARTS THE DEALER (AUDI) IDENTIFIED AS BEING AFFECTED ON MY CAR (HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP, CAM FOLLOWER, AND CORRESPONDING INTAKE CAMSHAFT CAM LOBE). THIS BULLETIN (NOT A RECALL, BUT DISTRIBUTED INTERNALLY TO DEALERSHIPS) CLEARLY STATES THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE THAT AFFECTED ALL VIN RANGES OF SPECIFIED AUDI MODELS FROM 2005-2007 THAT INCLUDED MINE. AUDI EXTENDED DRIVETRAIN COVERAGE ON THESE VEHICLES TO 10YR/120K MI. THIS ISSUE CAUSES A WORSENING LOSS OF POWER UPON ACCELERATING (MAKING DRIVING AT ALL SPEEDS DANGEROUS) AND EVENTUAL ENGINE FAILURE IF LEFT ALONE. I AM THE 3RD OWNER OF THIS CAR, SO I DID NOT RECEIVE THE INTENDED LETTER FROM AUDI STATING THE SPECIFICS OF THIS COVERAGE EXTENSION. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT ~110K MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS SERVICE (~4-5 DAYS AGO). UPON BRINGING THIS BULLETIN TO THE ATTENTION OF AUDI SERVICE MANAGER, HE DID NOT ASK ME FOR THE BULLETIN NUMBER OR REVISION, HE JUST DENIED COVERING IT VERBALLY SAYING THE COVERAGE WAS "10YR/120K MI, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST" BUT WOULD NOT SEND ME A COPY OF THE EXTENSION LETTER PROVING THIS. THE COST OF REPAIRS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE IS ~$5,600. I OPENED A CASE WITH AUDI OF AMERICA. I PROVIDED THE REQUESTED INFO, AND WAS STILL NOT SENT/EMAILED A COPY OF THIS LETTER, OR PROOF THAT IT WAS SENT TO THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD CASES TAKE UP TO A WEEK TO REVIEW (THEY WOULD NEED ME TO PROVIDE SERVICE RECORDS FOR THE VEHICLE, ETC). I WAS CALLED LESS THAN 24HRS LATER THAT THE CASE WAS DENIED, BEFORE I PROVIDED ANY INFO OR PLED MY CASE THAT A COMPANY WITH THE SLOGAN "TRUTH IN ENGINEERING" SHOULD STAND BEHIND AN ACKNOWLEDGED ENGINEERING FLAW. REPAIRS ARE ~1.5X THE VALUE OF THE CAR. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THIS AND IT CREATES AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. PLEASE HELP.

AUDI USA HAS A KNOW MECHANICAL DEFAULT WITH CAM SHAFT AND CAM FOLLOWERS. AS PER MY MECHANIC ANY DAMAGE TO THE CAM SHAFT COULD BE DANGEROUS. ACKNOWLEDGING THIS DEFECT 6 YEARS AFTER PRODUCTION AUDI EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES FOR THIS PARTS TO 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES SO THAT THEY ARE REPLACED AT FIRST INDICATIONS OF TROUBLE RATHER THEN ACTUAL MECHANICAL BREAKAGE WHICH COULD BE HARMFUL. AUDI ONLY NOTIFIED ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE ON RECORD. SINCE I HAD BOUGHT THE ARE USED I WAS NOT NOTIFIED BY AUDI OR MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP OF THE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THESE PARTS AND EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON THEM. WITHOUT KNOWING ABOUT THE WARRANTY I HAD SERVICE DONE ON THE CAM FOLLOWER TWICE COSTING HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. NOW THE PROBLEM IS THE CAM SHAFT WHICH IS GOING TO COST ABOUT $4500 TO REPAIR. EVEN THOUGH MY CAR HAS ONLY 91000 MILES (LESS THAN THE 120000 MILES REQUIRED BY AUDI) IT IS OVER THE 10 YEAR PERIOD. I AM SOMEWHAT DISMAYED THAT THIS WAS NOT ESCALATED TO BE A SAFETY RECALL BY AUDI SO THAT ALL OWNERS COULD HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND THE PART REPLACED IN A TIMELY FASHION. I AM IN A QUANDARY - PAY $4500 IN REPAIRS WHICH I CANNOT AFFORD OR RISK DRIVING WITH A PART THAT COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE A MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I THINK AUDI HAS BEEN DISINGENUOUS 1. INSTEAD OF ISSUING A RECALL THEY DISGUISE IT AS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. 2. POWER STEERING FLUID IS DRAINING FROM RESERVOIR FASTER THAN I CAN PUT IT IN. THIS IS ONE PROBLEM TOO MANY ON MY AUDI. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME AT AUDI DEALER IN PAST 6 WEEKS, TWO ELECTRIC WINDOW REGULATORS, BEARING FRONT WHEEL AND NOW POWER STEERING PROBLEM THAT I THINK WILL GO IN THE 600$ TO 1000$ REPAIR. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP PULLEY. IN ADDITION, THE A/C COMPRESSOR WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING DUE TO THE POWER STEERING PUMP FAILURE. THE RIGHT HEADLIGHT KEEPS FLICKERING. IT WILL TURN OFF SOMETIMES WHEN USING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, THE HEADLIGHT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE. WHEN IT FLICKERS, AN INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT ACTIVATES ON THE DASHBOARD. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIRING PROBLEM. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WERE CHANGED AND BRAND NEW WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. TWO YEARS LATER, THIS FLICKERING BEGAN. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE FLICKERING OF THE HEADLIGHT IS TO COMPLETELY TURN OFF THE HEADLIGHTS FOR A FEW SECONDS, THEN TURN THEM BACK ON. EVERYTHING IS FINE AFTER THAT. PLEASE RECALL THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ MANY POSTS ONLINE WITH OTHER AUDI A4 OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLES.

THE COMPANY HAS REFUSED TO TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION. THE NHTSA HAS THREE ITEMS#10024427, 10030593 AND 10025965 REGARDING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. IN CHECKING ONLINE WITH A GOOGLE SEARCH, IT APPEARS MANY 2004-06 AUDI'S HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WHICH CREATE A DANGER TO THE DRIVING PUBLIC. THE TSB IS NOT MAKING AUDI LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM AND I FEEL MANY CONSUMERS ARE PLANNING TO MAKE REPAIRS FOR AUDI'S DESIGN FLAW INCLUDING THEIR COVER-UP OF THE DESIGN FLAW. IT IS CRITICAL THAT THIS ISSUE BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME HE HAS OWNED THE VEHICLE DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM AND OR THE IGNITION COILS. NUMEROUS TIMES, THE VEHICLE HAS FAILED TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND UPON INSPECTION THE TECHNICIAN NOTED AN OIL PRESSURE ISSUE INVOLVING THE CYLINDER HEAD, BEARINGS AND SHORT BLOCK. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS WERE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE CAMSHAFT. I HAVE THE A4 W/ 3.1 LITER V6. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, TRANSMISSION EXHIBITED BUMPY LURCHING START FROM STOP. AUDI DIAGNOSE SAID THAT'S SYMPTOMATIC OF THIS TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE COMBINATION. NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO PREVENT. WITHIN 1ST YEAR, THE CAR WOULD STALL AND COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, NECESSITATING A RE-START. SOMETIMES UPON START, AND MOST NOTABLY (AND THE EXAMPLE CITED ABOVE) WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED. (I SUSPECT THE STALL PROBLEMS DESCRIBED RELATES TO THE LURCHING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM). ON THIS INCIDENT THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. TOOK TO AUDI, THEY COULDN'T IDENTIFY PROBLEM. I TOOK TO AN INDEPENDENT -- THEY DETERMINED PROBLEM AS FUEL PUMP. REPLACED FUEL PUMP. MOST RECENTLY THE CAR STALLED WHEN INITIATING A LEFT TURN FROM A SLOW 10-15 MPH ROLL. AS I SLIGHTLY DEPRESSED ACCELERATOR, CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF LEFT TURN -- HAD TO RE-START MID-TURN TO RESTORE POWER STEERING AND FINISH TURN (TURN WAS DOWN A SLIGHT INCLINE SO CAR WAS ABLE TO COAST). THIS HAPPENED AROUND 2/15. I TOOK IT TO AUDI, THE FOLLOWING DAY. THEY SAID BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE. I CALLED AUDI USA -- THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION OR DATABASE RESEARCH OF PROBLEM W/ OTHER AUDIES. A SIMILAR OCCURRENCE WAS 8/14 WHEN I EXITED FREEWAY AND AS I ROLLED TO A STOP, @10-15 MPH THE CAR STALLED. HAD TO BE RESTARTED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I MAY HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER BUT DON'T RECALL. IN OCTOBER 2006, PURCHASED A NEW 2006 AUDI A4 FROM CAROUSEL AUDI IN GOLDEN VALLEY, MN. THE CAR WAS WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS LESS THAN 62,000 MILES TODAY. IN LATE SUMMER OF 2013, I BEGAN NOTICING THAT THE CAR JERKED HEAVILY WHEN PUTTING IT INTO REVERSE FROM A PARKED POSITION. WHEN I ASKED BOTH THEM AND AUDI NORTH AMERICA ABOUT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH 61,000 OTHER AUDI OWNERS ACROSS THE U.S., THEY REFUSED TO DISCUSS THE MATTER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND EXHIBITING ABNORMAL NOISES WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE OUTSIDE OF THE TIRE TREAD PATTERN HAD BECOME ABNORMALLY WAVY. "INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHT MALFUNCTION. OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR OF OWNERSHIP, THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE MALFUNCTIONED (TURNED OFF), WITH NO CONSISTENT CAUSE APPARENT. THE SPECIFIC ERROR MESSAGE THAT APPEARS IN THE DRIVER INFORMATION SCREEN IS "LEFT (OR RIGHT) HEADLIGHT DIPPED". THIS CONDITION IS BOTH UNSAFE, AND ILLEGAL - AS MANY STATES WILL ISSUE A TRAFFIC VIOLATION FOR DRIVING WITH A NON-FUNCTIONING HEADLIGHT. IT HAS HAPPENED APPROX. 40 TIMES, THE HEADLIGHT FLICKERS, THEN GOES OUT, BUT WILL COME BACK ON WHEN THE CAR IS RESTARTED OR CLEAR IF THE HEADLIGHT IS TURNED OFF THEN BACK ON. IT WILL THEN BE FINE FOR DAYS OR WEEKS AT A TIME. IT HAS BEEN CONSISTENTLY GETTING MORE FREQUENT AND WORSE. EXTREME VIBRATIONS ARE OCCURRING WHILE VEHICLE IS STOPPED AND IN GEAR. THIS PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT NEW. IT NOW HAS ONLY 8000 MILES. THE VIBRATION LEVELS VARY AND CAN FLUCTUATE. WHEN VIBRATIONS ARE HIGH THE VIBRATION IS NAUSEATING, TINGLES MY EARS, AND RATTLES MY TEETH. MY KEYS VIBRATE ENOUGH TO PRODUCE SOUND AND THEY APPEAR BLURRY. MY LOCAL AUDI DEALER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT CURRENTLY, BUT SUGGEST THERE MAY BE FUTURE REMEDIES. THEY DID TIGHTEN MY SEAT AND SAY THAT MY CAR IS OPERATING WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. I DROVE AN IDENTICAL VEHICLE TO COMPARE FROM THEIR LOT AND MY CAR VIBRATED SIGNIFICANTLY MORE. THESE SEVERE VIBRATIONS PROMPT ME TO PLACE MY CAR IN NEUTRAL AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS SO I DON'T FEEL ILL. THIS CAN BE DANGEROUS SINCE MY CAR MAY NOT BE IN GEAR, AND IF I'M DISTRACTED, THEN NEED TO ACCELERATE SUDDENLY, I WON'T BE ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY. I'M AFRAID I MAY GET REAR ENDED AT ONE OF THESE TIMES. THE PROBLEM IS A STEERING WHEEL SHAKE THAT SETS UP A DISTRACTING VIBRATION AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 50-60 MPH. THE STRENGTH OF THE VIBRATION IS VARIED AS THE VIBRATIONS CAN BE STRONG OR WEAK AND AT TIMES, EVEN FEEL AS IF THEY ARE NOT THERE. THE DANGER IS THAT THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AN ANSWER AS TO WHAT IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. IT'S RELATED TO STEERING OF THE VEHICLE. BECOMES VERY DISCONCERTING CREATING A NERVOUS DRIVER AS THE SENSATION FROM THE VIBRATIONS IS ONE OF "LACK OF CONTROL". TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED, REBALANCED AND TIRE PRESSURES CHECKED AND CHANGED MULTIPLE TIMES TO CHECK FOR CHANGES. THE VIBRATION REMAINS. DIFFERENT TIRES RESULT IN THE SAME TYPE OF VIBRATION. THE OVERALL FEELING IS A LACK OF CONTROL, AND THE POTENTIAL THAT MAYBE ONE DAY SOMETHING MAY "SNAP" AND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM MAY BE FOUND IN THE WORST POSSIBLE WAY, BY WAY OF AN ACCIDENT. I WOULD RATHER NOT WAIT UNTIL THEN. MANY OTHER AUDI A4 (MODEL B7) OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM AUDI AT THIS POINT. IT'S NOT JUST A MATTER OF DRIVER COMFORT.
