I have a 2017 Q7 with the "front right side marker light defective" warning THAT POP OUT ONLY WHEN THE LIGHT AUTOMATICALLY TURN ON but the lights are actually functional. Yet the local Audi still wants to charge me 5.3k to fix it. The warning only happens at night. I've asked the shop for clarification on how it was deemed inop. since it looks like it's working to me. I see a lot of posts in forums about this issue. I see that there was a limited recall for this issue with 2017 Audi Q7 vehicles, but it's VIN specific and my VIN isn't included.

Notifications come on indicating that “Front Left side marker light defective.” Identical error message for the right side marker.
Dec 02, 2025
Started receiving error message intermittently regarding front right marker light being defective on the dashboard even though the lights are working. From a brief search online, this appears to be an known issue for this make and year as many others are facing a similar issue. There has been a limited recall for only certain VINs for a similar issue. The recall should be expanded as it's impact is much broader. It is an expensive fix especially for something that is working.

Front right & left side marker light defective. See owner's manual However my lights are not blown or out.
Nov 09, 2025
The "right side marker light" error message comes on when headlights are on, but the marker light is operating fine. I understand that this is part of a recall on other Audi Q7 models, but my 2017 does not appear to be within that recall. I request that the recall be expanded to include my auto. It appears from online information that other owners outside of the recall are having the issue that the recall is aimed at. Thank you for your consideration. The issue is related to Audi TSB 2048402/3. 2017 Audi Q7 3.0T. First the an engine light appears, then get Drive System Malfunction Warning appears, then car misfires, then car goes into limp mode causing the car to rapidly slow down (while driving on a highway!!!!!). This is is common issue on the 2017 Audi Q7, code is P05A000 Active Grill Shutter "A" Stuck on. Which then triggers the Drive System Malfunction, misfire, and limp mode. Audi will not repair due to mileage on vehicle. Concern is this is a know issue and a safety concern.

According to the dealer’s diagnosis, a burnt and broken valve caused the car to shake violently while I was driving on the highway with my family, including our three children. Prior to this incident, there were no warning lights or error messages. Only after the shaking began did a “Drive System Malfunction” alert appear on the dashboard.

My engine just failed after over a year of having to put oil in. The car has 77K miles and has been regularly maintained. Audi used this as a "demo car" and after purchase we immediately had to put oil in and were told verbally this is not an issue. The excessive engine oil consumption caused this catastrophic engine failure our an independent and trusted mechanic reports the engine has failed and cylinder number five only has 30 pounds of pressure. Please advise on what I can do with Audi for repair. We also have a 2019 and are fearful this will happen to that car as well. Thank you.
Apr 01, 2025
2017 Audi Q7 started consuming oil at 40,000 miles. At 70,000 miles consumption increased to quart every 3,000 miles. At 100,000 miles a quart every 1,000 miles. At 110,000 miles a quart every 40p to 600 miles. This is due to a very well known and documented piston ring issue. Audi offers to do nothing and while I was in warranty they claimed a quart of oil every 1,000 miles was within expected tolerance. This is ridiculous and terrible for the environment. Audi needs to stand behind their vehicles. So may complaints in Audi forum on exact issue.
Mar 28, 2025
My 2017 Audi Q7 3.0T with 99k miles and it consumes oil excessively. I am having to add a quart of oil about every 500-600 miles. My local german auto repair shop has told me, in my case that it is extreme & I should be worried. I’ve seen many other people with the same engine with oil consumption & I know it can cause the engine to fail. This needs to be addressed by someone due to how common this problem is with these engines.

The contact owns a 2017 Audi Q7. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the driver's side marker warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic with a failing driver's side marker. The contact was informed that the driver's side marker needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the contact stated that while driving at night, the failure was a safety issue. In addition, the contact stated that the dinging from the sensor was a distraction. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V642000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

The contact owns a 2017 Audi Q7. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the message "Side Marker light Fault Detected" was displayed. The contact stated that after a visual inspection, the contact became aware that both side marker lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the side marker light assembly. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V642000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting); but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

Front left and right marker lights show up as defective on the dashboard, intermittently, but the lights are working. Have seen on different forums that this is not uncommon with this vehicle. Many complaints. Tried working with Audi/USA and have followed their advice with needing a dealership assessments. I have done this on two occasions, but they said that they will not be responsible, but that the dealership will offer a labor discount of 10%. These quotes are over $7000 to replace the lights and modules (that are working), if you don’t want to keep listening to the dinging warning bells. And it forces the customer to fix it because you will never be able to sell the car even though the lights are working. Think at least Audi should pay for the parts on all complaints. There is such a term as “good will” and they should broaden the recall on this item. My vehicle had a recall on this that the dealership repaired before I even purchased the vehicle which was NEW. Audi informed them when it was on the lot, but they say it was for the same thing but they just had to do an update on it? How did they know that when the car only had maybe 10 miles on it when we took delivery. Hopefully, someone in your department has some clout and back Audi up against the wall and take responsibility. This issue closely resembles Audi recall campaign 97CB (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000), with details available at [XXX] . In my case, the marker light itself is functioning properly, but the vehicle is displaying a false error message: "Front Right Side Marker Light Defective." This poses safety risks because the erroneous warning distracts drivers from the road and could lead to the system failing to alert the driver of an actual side marker light issue in the future. Many owners of the same model and year are disabling their side marker lights entirely to avoid the error, as evidenced in discussions such as those on [XXX] . Repairing this issue typically requires replacing the entire headlight assembly, with costs ranging from $2,400 to $5,300, making it prohibitively expensive for many. Although Audi initiated a recall (97CB) for a similar issue, it was limited to a specific subset of vehicles, and the widespread nature of this problem in other vehicles outside the recall’s VIN range suggests a broader defect. Given these safety risks, high repair costs, and the frequency of the issue, I urge the NHTSA to investigate whether this problem warrants a broader recall or corrective actions by the manufacturer. "Front left side market light defective" - When the vehicle turns on and the lights activate the side marker lights do not illuminate. There was a recall for this model and year but doesn't include my VIN#. This is happening to MANY 2017 Q7 models. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

About two years ago I was driving down my recently paved street, and a loud bang shocked me. I thought something had hit my car. It ended up both of my rear suspension coil springs failed. I do not have a boat or trailer and have not put undue stress on it. Last week, while driving down a smooth street there was another loud bang, and my wife though I hit something, but no, I knew the noise. The front driver side suspension coil spring failed. I was 80 miles from a dealer and had to get it towed to a chevy dealer, with a repair cost of $3,000, and had to repair other parts of the suspension that were damaged. I also elected to replace the fourth and final one while they were in there so it would not happen again. Never in 40 years of owning cars have coils ever failed on me. There must have been a bad run, and this should be investigated. Suspension failure, if it happend at speed could have been dangerous.

On Oct. 7th, 2024, our Audi Q7 2017 needed software update because the front data screen (MMI system) was rebooting frequently while driving, causing the screen to go up and down to reset itself. The Mission Viejo, CA Audi dealership updated the software. We picked up our car on Oct 24th, 2024. By the evening of Oct 24th, 2024, an error message for ‘front right-side marker light defective’ appeared on the dashboard screen when we drove under bridges, dark areas, and at night. The error message appeared with multiple loud beeps each time it appeared. At night, the message would appear every 5-10 minutes, making the car undriveable at night. The dealership suggested they would have Audi corporate perform the Audi recall campaign 97CB – NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000. With the holidays, time dragged on. The update was finally attempted 1/7/25-1/8/25. The dealership said the update failed and suggested I either buy a new light ($4895) or contact a tune-shop to turn-off the front side markers via coding/programming, thus reducing my safety and augmenting the factory software by an outside vendor. Once the MMI software system was updated, it caused the front marker light coding to malfunction. After more research in the last few weeks, the front marker light (NHTSA campaign ID 16V642000) is a much broader issue than a light not working and still resides with Audi Q7 2017 this many years later.

There is a known oil consumption problem. And I have experienced having to fill up my oil every 200 miles. There is no proof of an oil leak but it just uses it constantly. It has left my car overheating in two cities with my toddlers.

Nov 16, 2023
On the evening of 8/12/2023, my vehicle (2017 Audi Q7) began producing a vibrating noise while driving and a clunking noise while turning. The next day (08/13/2023), after halting at a traffic light and accelerating when the light turned green, a loud pop was heard from the rear of the vehicle. And the vehicle was unable to move forward or backward while the engine was running. The vehicle has been towed to the Audi dealer in Chantilly, Virginia. Upon multi point inspection, the service team found that the drive shaft got separated from the rear differential flange. All bolts connecting drive shaft found sheared off in rear differential flange. Initially the service team tried to extract broken bolts and replace bolts and gasket to reconnect drive-shaft. But after couple of days, they were unable to extract broken bolts. So the current recommendation is to replace rear differential pinion yoke, re-install driveshaft and rear exhaust section and re-evaluate operating condition. All six driveshaft bolts for connection to rear differential found broken off in pinion yoke. Unable to drill-out remaining material from broken bolts out of rear differential pinion yoke. The service person thinks parking brake may have got engaged when the acceleration pedal was pressed causing the bolts to break. But, in my opinion, that is not the reason. I am certain that the parking brake was not ON at the traffic light. I would like to find the root cause why the drive shaft was separated from the rear flange. I am a bit nervous it may happen again and also want to help other Q7 owners if this a recall issue. In the following link the Audi service person posted a video that shows the separation of the drive shaft from the rear flange. I do not know how long the video will be accessible. Please watch the video as soon as possible. [XXX] I have also recorded the video on my phone (screen recording). I will send some pictures as well. thank you. STEERING
13 complaints
On Thursday, October 30, 2025, when I got seated in my car, put my seat belts on, and put the car in reverse gear to slowly get out of my parking space, it kept on going in reverse and won’t stop with break I tried to change the parking mode or drive mode but the steering column would not take any command. After 350 feet driven in reverse, it went into a ditch where it tried to turn it and the car was still in reverse, climbing out of the ditch, damaging another section of the fence, till I could turn off the engine with the ignition switch. It looks that the gear was stuck in reverse and after engine cut off it went back in drive mode. In the meantime, all four sides of the car were damaged and scratched all over, and there was damage on the bottom. Apparently it is electronic malfunction when the gear got stuck in reverse. Thank God that I was not in a busy parking lot, otherwise would have damaged dozens of cars and hurt many innocent bystanders. Will keep you posted till the Audi repair shop gives me a diagnosis

Complete loss of steering control while driving at low speeds. Dashboard indicator illuminated for "Severe Steering Malfunction - Do Not Drive." Had the car towed to the dealership. Dealership indicated that the car needed a new steering rack and pinion. Cost estimate was $4000. The car had 72,000 miles with mostly highway mileage.

Was driving on small town road, pulling into gas station, and 'steering malfunction, stop car immediately' notice popped up, with red steering wheel icon above message with line across wheel and exclamation mark. I lost power steering at the same time, immediately. Very difficult to drive, and thankful it was not on busy, interstate road, and that nothing more happened. Very tough to drive, and so far, need to tow to Audi dealership to check and repair. I have been in touch with Audi, nothing they can do over phone, they suspect electronic issue. Very dangerous and disappointing. Just happy it did not cause death or injury.

The contact owns a 2017 Audi Q7. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering shaft bolt was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. The contact was informed the VIN was not included in the NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V149000(Steering). The contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced that same failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not yet contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Power steering assistance unit stoped working suddenly while driving. Then car was very difficult to steer. Fault could not be reseted, unit was not accessible with service computer in Audi shop. The steering unit was replaced. Just by luck that did not happen while driving at high speed. This could have been resulting in crash with casualties. While browsing the internet for advice it shows multiple incidents with the Audi electric powered steering unit. In the attached pic’s it shows a wet rubber seal and a corroded drive shaft of the replaced part (note the part numbers). Water and oil can find its way into the resolver unit and render it useless, cause lost of feedback signal hence kill the unit. Additional observation: Month before this incident happen, while driving at low speed in warmer/hot environment, a stepper motor feeling was noticeable on the steering wheel. Also a sound can be heared similar to rubber scratches over a dry surface. The disturbance went away when the car cooled down for some hours. It would be advisable to investigate the issue further as the consequences of loss if steering power could be very serious. Wishing everyone a safe travel.

My vehicle is experiencing the same issues as described in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V642000, but my vin number isn't listed in the vehicles affected even thought the year make and model agree to the recall. Should the dealer be willing to correct this issue since it's a known safety hazard?

Jun 17, 2024
Hello. Campaign Number 16V642000 needs to be expanded to include the full range of VINs manufactured for all the 2017 Audi Q7 model year(s). This vehicle reports a side marker light malfunction, but the VIN is not included in the Audi recall. There are numerous complaints on the NHTSA website itself, and even more across various Internet forums to warrant NHTSA investigation. The continued delay by NHTSA not to investigate the need to expand the range of VINs covered under this recall, allows a safety issue to continue to go uncorrected by the manufacturer and therefore unnecessarily and negligently increases the risk of crash for countless motorists.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
8 complaints
On my way to drop my child off at school, I stopped to refuel my Audi Q7. Upon inserting the nozzle to refuel the car, gasoline immediately began jetting out of the fuel door before the auto-shutoff kicked in, covering myself as well as my vehicle. Thankfully, the hot exhaust did not ignite the liquid or fuel vapor potentially causing a deadly fire. Despite having no fuel remaining, I was able to take the vehicle to our local mechanic where they discovered a TSB denoting this specific issue. The TSB was initially released 04/28/2016 for Model Year 2017 Audi Q7s. It was subsequently updated to include Model Year 2018 Q7s as well. This is a documented factory safety defect that denotes if this issue is to occur, to replace the whole fuel tank. Further research shows that a valve inside the non-wear, non-serviceable fuel filler neck can become dislodged and nearly completely block the filler neck from accepting fuel. This can cause a potential safety issue as the result of this blockage, the vehicle as well as driver can become doused in gasoline before a pump's auto-shutoff can kick in due to the shallow depth of the fault. The problem is known and documented as being an issue nearly immediately after the Model Year 2017 Q7 line was released. There was no prior warning or indication that this could occur at any time filling the vehicle.
May 23, 2023
The fuel tank has a broken flap in the filler neck. Per the NHTSA ID # below, this issue is a known issue. My vehicle is experiencing this issue and will not allow me to put fuel into my car. I am unclear why the NHTSA feels that this is just a technical bulletin rather than a recall. Why should the consumer be subject to replacing a faulting known design by the manufacturer, Audi, in this case. I am now going to have to pay an extract few thousand to have this issue resolved. This is completely unfair to the consumer. NHTSA ID Number: 10150656 Manufacturer Communication Number: A201804 2044039-

WE PURCHASED OUR Q7 FEB OF 2017. IT WAS A CPO WITH 10K MILES. PART OF THE DEAL WAS THEY HAD TO CHANGE HE TIRES. THE FRONT TIRES LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE CHEWED UP OR TEARING UP. THEY CHANGED THE TIRES. THEN ABOUT 2K MILES LATER IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING ON THE NEW TIRES. SAME CHEWED OR TEARING UP LOOK. WE TOOK IT TO AUDI. WE HAD THE GOODYEAR EAGLE SPORT ALL SEASON TIRES. THEY CHANGED THE TIRES AGAIN. THEN SAME ISSUE AGAIN ABOUT 1500K MILES. SO FINALLY THE GM PLACED NEW SET OF PIRELLI TIRES ON ALL 4 TIRES. NOW IT'S ONLY ABOUT 1500K MILES STILL DOING THE SAME ON THE NEW SETS OF TIRES. AUDI CLAIMS THAT THERE'S NO ISSUES AND BLAMES ITS THE ROAD THAT WE DRIVE. WE'VE NEVER TAKEN IT OFF ROADING OR ANY DIRT ROADS. ONLY REGULAR STREET ROADS. A FRIEND OF OURS THAT WORKS A LOCAL TIRE SHOP AND HE SAYS IT'S AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE. I'M NOT SURE IF AUDI HAVE LOOKED AT THEIR SPECS ON THE ALIGNMENT AND MAYBE OFF ON THE NUMBERS. WE ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH AUDI DIRECTLY BUT THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR US. WE ALSO FOUND OUT THERE'S ALREADY A BULLETIN GOING ON ABOUT THE ISSUE WITH THE TIRES THROUGH AUDI. BUT STILL NO RECALLS.

MY SUNROOF/MOONROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED AS I WAS SITTING COMPLETELY STATIONARY AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A PERFECTLY SUNNY DAY. NOTHING HIT MY CAR OR THE SUNROOF. I WAS LESS THAN 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE ON A SECONDARY ROAD WITH MINIMAL TRAFFIC. THE SOUND WAS LIKE A GUNSHOT, WHICH IS WHAT I THOUGHT IT WAS FOR A BRIEF MOMENT. THE GLASS EXPLODED WITH SUCH FORCE THAT FINE SHARDS OF GLASS WERE EMBEDDED IN THE LEATHER AND MY SKIN. SUNGLASSES SAVED MY EYES, AND I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE MOST OF THE GLASS WITH A LINT ROLLER FROM MY ARMS AND HANDS AND FACE.

Clockspring in the steering wheel premature failure. 2017 Audi Q7, 60k miles. The steering wheel has been making grinding noises when turning. Took the car into the dealership for the scheduled 60k service and reported the issue. They diagnosed and said that the Clockspring is going bad. It will fail, just a matter of time. Talking to other Audi owners, they are having the same issue at low mileage points. Some dealers cannot diagnose the problem, some can. It appears that when the clockspring goes, the steering wheel features fail, and that may include airbag failure.

THE HEADS UP DISPLAY PRODUCES A DISTRACTING GLARE RIGHT IN THE DRIVERS LINE OF SIGHT. WHILE DRIVING ON SUNNY DAYS THIS BECOMES A PROBLEM.
Mar 18, 2017
THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE HEADS UP DISPLAY THAT CAUSES A BRIGHT GLARE TO BE REFLECTED IN THE WINDSHIELD. RIGHT IN THE DRIVERS LINE OF SIGHT. THIS HAPPENS ON SUNNY DAYS AT MIDDAY WHILE DRIVING CERTAIN DIRECTIONS. PLEASE CHECK THE AUDI WORLD FORUM AND YOU WILL SEE POSTINGS OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE ARE PHOTOS OF THE GLARE AS WELL. SEARCH AUDI Q7 HEAD UP DISPLAY WINDSHIELD GLARE ON THE AUDI WORLD FORUM. LOTS OF PICTURES OF THE GLARE. THE GLARE HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING AND MOVES AROUND AS THE CAR CHANGES DIRECTION. THINK OF A MIRROR REFLECTING LIGHT. THE SHINY SURFACE OF THE HEAD UP DISPLAY CASE REFLECTS A BRIGHT LIGHT ONTO THE WINDSHIELD.
Feb 23, 2017
HEAD UP DISPLAY REFLECTOR SYSTEM, UNDER SPECIFIC LIGHT CONDITION (SUN ORIENTATION) PRODUCES GLARES WHICH CAN VARY IN SIZE AND BRIGHTNESS. SOME OF THE REFLECTIONS AND GLARES ARE SMALL AND CAN BE IGNORED BUT SOME GLARES ARE VERY BRIGHT AND RATHER LARGE AND POSITIONED RIGHT ON THE EYE LINE HEIGHT. IT IS A MAJOR DISTRACTION FOR A DRIVER. THIS CAN BE SAFETY ISSUE IF GLARE OCCURS IN A SPOT COVERING A STREET LIGHT OR PEDESTRIAN.

I am submitting this complaint regarding a serious safety issue I experienced with my vehicle. Shortly after starting to drive, about 2 miles from my home, while traveling at approximately 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly began to shake violently and came to a complete stop at the intersection of Crescent Street and Astoria Boulevard. At that moment, I lost all control over the steering wheel—it completely locked up. The dashboard displayed the message: “Drive System Malfunction – Contact Service.” These diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) appeared: •P2179 •P025C •P0087 •P0306 This incident posed a major safety risk, as I was unable to steer or move the vehicle in a high-traffic area. I am very concerned that this could happen again or to other drivers under more dangerous conditions. Please investigate this matter as it may indicate a serious defect that could affect others.

I am reporting a serious issue with the 2017 Audi Q7 involving excessive oil consumption. The vehicle burns 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles or less, requiring me to constantly add oil between regular oil changes to avoid engine damage. This is not normal and poses a serious safety risk if the engine runs dry during operation. Audi denied my buyback request without inspecting the vehicle or reviewing service records. Instead, their solution has been to provide free oil top-offs, which proves they are aware of the problem but are avoiding a permanent fix or recall. Other Audi Q7 owners, even with newer models and low mileage, report the same defect. This is a manufacturing defect that makes the vehicle unreliable and unsafe for normal driving. This can cause the vehicle to stall or stop suddenly while driving, especially at high speeds or in traffic. That’s a major safety risk. If the oil burns too quickly, the warning may come too late. The need to constantly monitor and add oil makes the car unreliable for everyday use. Regular oil changes are meant to keep the car safe and working smoothly. But if oil is burning quickly between changes, the car can’t be safely operated on a normal maintenance schedule, which defeats the purpose of service intervals and puts extra responsibility and risk on the driver. Audi’s refusal to issue a recall or perform proper repairs is deceptive and dangerous. I request NHTSA to investigate this issue and determine whether a recall is necessary for this known defect. It also breaches Implied Warranty of Merchantability (UCC § 2-314)

I bought my 2017 Audi Q7 on November 16, 2023 (Used) and a couple of days after putting the headlights on Auto I get a message pop up "Front left side marker light defective See owner's manual". Also kept getting a low oil message. This model have no oil stick so I put about a 1/2 qt of oil in it to see if the message goes away. It goes away for a few hours. The vehicle basically stopped running leaving myself and kids on the side of the road in the winter while we wait for a tow truck. After getting it towed to Mentor Audi dealership, they gave me the bad news that the engine needed to be replaced. My engine has been replaced and documents can be sent upon request. The rear doors have a Lock All button, which cannot be disabled with the driver side child lock, and no Unlock button in the rear doors. This is extremely unsafe, as the following scenario (which has happened to my wife several times) will illustrate: - Wife approaches car with our toddler - Places purse (containing key and phone) on front passenger seat in order to free up her arms to help load and secure our toddler into the rear car seat. For safety reasons, she does not place her purse outside the vehicle on the ground. - After our toddler is secure in his forward-facing car seat, she closes the door and circles the vehicle to get to the driver side door. - During that time, our toddler likely kicks the Lock All button by accident. The button is located about two inches to the right of his right foot. There is no Unlock button for him to hit and he cannot unbuckle his straps to free himself or reach the front seat. - My wife is then locked out, with our toddler inside the car. Yesterday was 92 degrees out. - This has happened at least 3 times. In the first instance, she was able to crawl through an open sunroof. In another instance, she was able to get someone in a parking lot to call me to come with the spare key. In the latest instance, she had to call the police to break the toddler out of the car. - We have family and friends who have had the same issue. In these cases, an older sibling was able to crawl to the front seat to unlock the door. Online message boards make this problem appear somewhat common. - Audi has been unwilling to help. They say my wife she keep the key on her at all times. This is not realistic and she often doesn't have pockets in a dress or skirt. - A toddler in rear seat should not have the ability to lock all doors, yet not be able to unlock any. There should be a way for a parent to at least disable this feature. According to Audi it is "operating as designed".

You have a safety recall #16V-642 for this model and the dealer did not put my vin# in the recall but yet my vehicle is saying the the left and right side marker lights are defective and the dealer will not correct it, instead they are trying to make me pay to replace the entire light harness for both head light assembly for $4,000, my next stop is with a class action law suit to get this taken up. I am wondering how many people with these cars have paid to replace their lights when apparently it’s just a software update but you cannot get the dealers to do it because in their computers Audi did not enter all the vin numbers affected by this recall. I am asking for your help in this situation since you have the recall.

My 2017 Audi Q7 Prestige 3.0T 6Cyl GAS CREC Supercharged has experienced repeated, serious failures involving the engine, powertrain, and fuel system. - At 72,000 miles, the vehicle developed coolant leaks under the supercharger, a failed water pump, and soaked drive belts. Repairs included multiple hoses, gaskets, and thermostat replacement. -Shortly after, repeated PCV/Oil system failures caused oil leaks, warning lights, and engine shaking. Repairs included PCV system, oil separator, valve cover gasket, breather pipes, and new spark plugs. - at 111,000 miles, the low-pressure fuel pump and relay failed, causing the vehicle to stall and lose all power while driving- a major safety risk. -Most recently, the engine developed a severe misfire in cylinder #4. Compression testing confirmed abnormally low compression (15 psi) due to a suspected cracked valve seat. The vehicle cannot be repaired without a complete engine replacement, quoted at ~$20,000. Safety Impact: - Vehicle has stalled suddenly in traffic due to fuel and engine failures, risking crash or injury. - Coolant and oil leaks present a potential fire hazard. - Loss of power and shaking while driving put my family and others at risk. Inspection/Confirmation: -All problems have been repeatedly confirmed and repaired by an independent Audi specialty service center (S&S Auto Repair). - Numerous invoices document coolant, oil, fuel, and engine failures. Warning Signs: - Multiple dashboard warning lights appeared either right before or during failure, including engine malfunction, coolant loss, and auto start/stop malfunction. These repeated failures at relatively low mileage suggest a design/manufacturing defect with the Audi 3.0T engine platform that compromises both safety and reliability. The issue seems to be widespread amongst other Audi owners with the same 3.0T engine- Per AudiWorld Forums.

I was driving on the freeway at 60 MPH when pushing on the gas pedal, the Audi Q7 2017 started to de-accelerate from 60 - 30 and then went lower. The gas pedal then locked while still on a lane on the freeway and luckily I was able to quickly move to the shoulder of the freeway. From there my car proceeded to not start and kept flashing low battery, telling me to put it into drive. I could not put it into drive to start the car. There were NO WARNINGS as the car lost speed on the freeway and a mechanic has determined it is the fuel pump. This was a very scary incident as my two young children and dog were in the car and if I hadn't been able to move to the side quickly, we would have been stopped in the middle of a busy city freeway. Additionally, it took a tow truck two hours to reach us. I keep my car well maintained with service.

2017 Audi Q7 3.0 QTRO--While traveling to FL, the Pre Sense Warning Light indicating failure began flickering on and off. Within several weeks, it was on constantly. Subsequently, a "whooping" sound became constant in the pillar behind the driver side door. Upon returning to OH, I reported this to my dealer. I was told the Driver side seat belt tensioner has malfunctioned. Dealer states this is also the cause of the Pre Sense frontal safety system failure. Vehicle now out of Warranty. Quoted repair for this safety issue is $1200. I learned this is a commonly known problem, and believe it should be associated with the NHTSA Recall ID: 16V955000. My vehicle is not listed on any Audi recalls at this point. The dealer initially texted the repair quote, but the link expired, and the dealer is not interested in putting this in writing again to me. Thus not documents to upload at this point, but will continue to request documentation of the dealer's diagnosis.

OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE I SAW A PIECE OF PAPER FLOATING ACROSS THE FRONT OF MY CAR AND WONDERED IF THAT WAS WHAT THE CAR "SAW" OR SENSED THAT CAUSED IT TO BRAKE. THANK GOODNESS NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME!

WHEN MOVING THE CAR IN REVERSE FROM OVERNIGHT PARKING IN MY GARAGE, THE BRAKES SQUEAL EXCESSIVELY. THIS SOUND DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN BRAKING WHILE MOVING IN A FORWARD DIRECTION. THE CAR STOPS APPROPRIATELY, BUT THE SOUND IT QUITE LOUD IN REVERSE BRAKING MODE. THE SUNROOF CREEKS AND POPS DURING CITY DRIVING AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. I JUST READ AN ARTICLE ON CONSUMERREPORTS.COM ABOUT EXPLODING SUNROOF PROBLEMS AND I'M CONCERN THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN DUE TO LACK OF REPORTING AND MANUFACTURERS NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP OF THE DEFECT. POPPING SOUNDS COMING FROM MY SUNROOF HAVE ME CONCERNED ABOUT MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF EXPLODING DURING TRAVEL IN THE VEHICLE

WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED THERE IS A SQUEAKY SOUND AS IF SOMETHING IS RUBBING AGAINST SOME OTHER THING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BUT DID RECOGNIZE THE ISSUE. THEY CHANGED THE WHOLE SUSPENSION AND THE ELECTRICAL STEERING SYSTEM BUT THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. I TOOK MY CAR BACK FROM AND WAS ON A VACATION WHEN NOTICED LARGE AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM BELOW THE VEHICLE. I PARKED THE CAR ON THE SIDE AND CHECKED FOR FIRE BUT THERE WAS NONE. I LET THE CAR COOL DOWN AND THEN PARKED THE CAR IN THE HOTEL. LATER I DROVE BACK HOME AND HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE OF SMOKE COMING FROM BELOW THE CAR. I HAVE DROPPED THE CAR FOR THE THIRD TIME IN THE LAST 1.5 MONTHS TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS SOME KIND OF MANUFACTURING FAULT IN IT OR IT'S A LEMON THAT THEY SOLD TO ME. THE CAR WAS STATIONERY WHEN THE SMOKE WAS NOTICED BUT I BELIEVE THAT THE SMOKE MUST BE THERE EVEN IN MOTION AS WELL. THE SQUEAKY SOUND COMES WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION AT LOW SPEED SPECIFICALLY WHEN TURNING.
