The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328I. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The vehicle was restarted several times but continually stalled. The vehicle was later towed to the residence. The contact examined the engine and discovered metal shavings in the VANOS solenoid engine oil. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328I. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact noticed an abnormal dinging sound coming from underneath the hood. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a detached VANOS bolt. The contact was informed that the failure was due to unrepaired recall NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The recall repair was performed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that when the vehicle was released to the contact, the contact stated that the vehicle was shaking violently, and the RPM was fluctuating. In addition, the engine shut off while idling. The contact stated that the failure occurred before leaving the dealer. The dealer requested that the vehicle remain at the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer the following day. The vehicle was inspected, and the contact was informed that the failure was not related to the recall. The contact was requested to provide a diagnostic fee for further diagnostic tests and the contact declined. The contact stated that the vehicle was in worse condition after the recall repair was performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,000.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328I. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The recall repair was completed; however, on the drive home after the vehicle was retrieved, while driving 60 MPH, the engine seized. The contact stated that the vehicle was sluggish and hesitated before stalling in the middle lane of the highway. The oil pressure warning light was illuminated. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, and after several attempts, the vehicle failed to restart. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was determined that the incorrect oil filter was installed on the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The contact towed the vehicle back to the residence. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered the contact a 10% discount on a new engine. The failure mileage was 126,657.

The contact had received various unknown notifications of NHTSA recalls. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the vehicle was repaired. The contact stopped by the dealer to pick up the vehicle, and when the vehicle was started, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The contact stated that the vehicle was idling abnormally. The contact left the vehicle at the dealer. The contact believed that the dealer had damaged the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle had other issues that the contact needed to repair for the dealer to repair the vehicle again. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. i took my car in for the vanos bolts recall at a bmw dealership they said they could fix the car.keep in mind i drove the car there just fine and now there saying its gonna cost $3300 to fix my car and its not drivable and idk what to do because im not spending that much money when i took my car in for a recall

The vehicle has been under recall for over a year and the fix is known and takes approximately 4 hours. BMW has had ample time to coordinate a repair, please enforce the repair for the vehicle.

My car has the same issue as other BMW 328i made in 2011. however, when i put the vehicle vin number in my car does not pull up this as a recall. The Camshaft timing bolts are kicking off a check engine light. There is already a recall on this for other cars like mines see campaign 23V707000. Not sure what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had my car towed to BMW Northwest in fife on October 8th to have my recalled fixed for the vanos bolts that can cause engine problems. My car had shut down the day prior I couldn’t drive it. Through October 8 all the way till the 31st I had been in contact with BMW checking on the status of my car .. I have text messages between me and BMW about my car . I was told that 4 vanos bolts broke off into my engine and that bmw couldn’t find them they had to take my engine apart.. Then on October 31 I had got a call from BMW saying that they could not fix the the recall due to sludge on my engine, and that the reason that my engine had shut down was due to power maintenance . My car has all maintained regular oil change and kept up with the maintenance. So now BMW is trying to give me my car back with the Vanos bolt still stuck in the engine in my car not starting and they said they were not gonna fix the recall.

Recall for 2011 BMW 328i PCV Heater valve was conducted on or around March 12, 2023 at my local BMW private shop Bimmer Engineering located in Lancaster, CA. After service was performed was contacted by BMW representative that this service I paid out of pocket would be reimbursed, but would need to take to BMW dealership to be inspected to ensure BMW part had been replaced properly and with the authorized OME part manufactured by BMW. Vehicle was inspected at the Valencia BMW dealership on or around March 15, 2023 and verified manufactured part was replaced properly. After submitting a claim, letters, and invoices to BMW North America which concluded roughly a year later. I was informed that the reimbursement would not be honored due to recall not affiliated and TREAD ACT does not apply. This information was provided on or around October 11, 2024 by Executive Customer Care Relations and Services Specialist Kurt Westrich.

When a passenger sits in the front passenger seat, the passenger side airbag seat sensor triggers and illuminates the airbag light, deactivating the passenger airbag. After it is triggered, the light stays illuminated, along with the seat belt light, for several drive cycles, without a passenger present, before resetting. This is a sporadic issue, but rather frequent. It began, very occasionally, approximately a year ago, but has progressively become worse. My research has shown this is a very common issue with BMW vehicles; however, my vehicle is not covered under any previous recall, although the seats are the same part number as those addressed in prior recall notices.

The airbag light and seatbelt light came on randomly. The airbag sensor is off, and the “passenger airbag off” light is illuminated even when there’s somebody sitting in the car. This is a major safety issue, as the vehicle doesn’t recognize when somebody is sitting in the passenger seat and wont deploy airbags when there’s a wreck.

My son was injured by the impact of an accident on May 30th, 2021. He was driving when a car sped past him, lost control, slammed into the center median guardrail, then into the drivers side door of my sons car. The impact was strong enough to dent and puncture a large hole in the door, yet the side impact air bags did not deploy. Nor did any other air bag. we still currently have the vehicle.

The battery warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to TSB: SI-B01-20-16, but the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 215,000.

I received the safety recall from BMW April 2022. I still have not heard from the local BMW dealer about a remedy. It's almost a year. My son lives in California and also has a 2011 BMW . His vehicle is also covered under the safety recall, and he has not heard anything about a remedy from a BMW dealer in Los Angeles. In fact he tells me his heater blower was not working and he took it into the dealer in early January 2023. They did "some repairs," never mentioned the recall, and when he went to drive away the heater DID catch fire and he was told not to use it by the dealer! Please advise how you are going to get BMW to comply with this remedy. Thank you,

Passenger door handle with comfort access shorted out and nearly caught fire. I was trying to get my comfort access working again after it suddenly stopped and I discovered that the fuse (#61) was blown. A couple minutes after replacing the fuse, the door handle let up a large plume of smoke and made a popping sound. I immediately powered down the car and removed the fuse and the smoking stopped. The door handle was hot to the touch and the rubber gaskets on the door handle appear to have melted (see attached photo). Upon further research, this appears to be a common problem with these cars.

This car has a heater problem with the PCV that causes the car to not run in cold weather. The PCV fails intermittently and the car will not idle or run in cold weather. BMW issued this recall in March but it is not November and they have offered no fix for this. It is a safety issue and it's also affecting how the car runs. How could we be 8 months into this without a fix?

Vehicle started smelling like smoke and making loud screeching noise in February. Took car to BMW certified shop to be fixed, put out thousands of dollars to have valve replaced, check engine light will still not turn off. In April I received a letter from BMW about the a recall on the PVC Valve. It is now July and they just diagnosed a remedy. Called around to every local dealership, they cannot fix it due to lack of parts. It has been over 5 months without having a car. BMW North America is giving me the run around and dealerships keep referring me to call BMW North America. Also have told me that they might not refund me for this since the problem wasn’t fixed even though BMW is at fault.

My car was brought in to the BMW dealership for knocking noises, a fire smell, and shaking. I was told my car could not be repaired due to engine failure.l was informed that replacing the engine would cost me more than the vehicle is worth. He recommended l sell it for parts. Currently there are no lights/ indicators present on my dash board indicating that something is even wrong . l did not receive any warnings before the shaking and /or during the knocking . On the other hand; I have made multiple complaints to my mechanic about smelling fire or burnt rubber for the past six months and he thought it was coming from the radiator and he replaced it.. The smell did not improve .. he was still in the process of guessing what it could be . I guess we know now. The safety of my family has been at risk for months, knowing that burnt rubber smell could have evolved into something major at anytime . My life was in danger when the car began shaking while driving on the highway on my way to work . The car has been parked for a week now due to me not knowing what to do with a dead 10 years young vehicle. I have not called the police and my insurance company states they don’t cover mechanical issues. My car has only been viewed by a dealership and my mechanic shop. To make my situation worse , I am currently working overseas in Germany on orders and l don’t know what to do with this car. I don’t live a lifestyle where I can afford to purchase a vehicle with the intentions of it lasting 10 years or less . My car is definitely available for inspection upon request.. if someone could advise me on whom to contact , that would be great . The set back this has caused me is unrealistic. If there is anything I can do as a costumer please let me know .l am a healthcare worker .l am very reliant upon my vehicle . I need my car.

The 4 vanos bolts that secure the housing for the variable camshaft timing adjustment (VANOS) unit broke and fell into my oil pan. This has caused oil to leak onto and break the eccentric shaft sensor. This has caused my vehicles engine to loose power. Had this occurred at a faster speed, it could have harmed myself and others on the road. My engines light came on just a few miles before my cars engine had weakened power. I pulled off the road to safety. I had my bmw towed and it is currently at the dealership with an estimated quote of $4963.91 to fix. I’ve had my bmw for less than two years. It’s had one previous owner and no accidents. It only has 64,984 miles. According to the U.S Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration, the average highway miles driven per year in 2019 were 14,263. If this is accurate, my vehicle would have roughly 142,000 miles for a 10 year old bmw. My car has less than half of this.

Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to formally file a complaint against Burdick BMW, located in Syracuse, NY, regarding their failure to address my request for a recall-related repair on my vehicle. Despite multiple attempts to schedule an appointment, I have received no response or follow-up from the dealership. Over the past month, I have contacted Burdick BMW a total of four (4) times via phone regarding a recall service for my vehicle. The contact was made on [XXX]. Each time, I spoke with a customer representative who assured me that a supervisor would return my call to schedule an appointment. However, I have never received a call back nor been provided with any opportunity to have my vehicle serviced. This ongoing lack of communication and failure to act on a manufacturer-issued recall raises serious concerns about the dealership's commitment to customer service and safety compliance. As a consumer, I am entitled to have my vehicle serviced in accordance with recall requirements, and Burdick BMW’s inaction has not only caused inconvenience but may also pose a safety risk due to the unresolved recall issue. Given that my attempts to resolve this matter directly with the dealership have been unsuccessful, I request that appropriate action be taken to ensure Burdick BMW fulfills its obligations. I kindly ask that you investigate this matter and take the necessary steps to hold Burdick BMW accountable for their failure to schedule or complete recall-related repairs in a timely manner. Additionally, I request assistance in obtaining a prompt appointment to address my vehicle’s recall issue. Please advise me on the next steps I should take to resolve this matter. The recall for the VANOS came out after we had our car breakdown. We brought our car to a local foreign car repair shop. They started to work on the when they made the diagnosis of these bolts failing. I have a detailed bill for this repair that was close to $6000!

My VANOS bolts became loose and are missing. This caused my car to no longer turn on. The service engine soon light turned on right before this happened. It has been months since I have heard anything and it does not seem like BMW is doing anything to fix this problem. The remedy should be to replace the VANOS bolts free of charge, but nothing has been done.

Got a recall notice in November 2023 and we are now in April 2024 and no remedy for my car yet. I am not able to drive this car due to this problem and do not want to risk getting stranded or having an accident due to a failure. How long to wait to be "timely"? My car is in a garage gathering dust because of this and me being forced to use another car for my transportation. Hope this issue is fixed soon...hopefully before the end of April 2024. Thanks. Vanos solenoid bolt came apart and manufacturer refuses to service vehicle advising my car is not part of recall notice # 14V-176. Also denying me SULEV warranty services basically do not want to honor any recalls or EPA compliance warranties.

I recently brought my 2011BMW 328i in for recalls and a shutter noise. My vehicle is equipped with the N51 SULEV motor. I recently was not able to set monitors for smog due to a shutter issue. I was told by a reliable mechanic it was the torque converter, and it is covered under the SULEV warranty. I was shocked when Bob told me that the torque converter was not covered under BMW SULEV warranty. It clearly states that in the SULEV warranty and my car only has 123,000 miles. He proceeded to call my car "a can of worms" and told me the technician simply does not want to work on my car. I know for a fact my Torque Converter and Mechatronik are covered under the SULEV warranty. I was simply kicked to the curb. This is unethical and my car is not passing smog due to this issue which is illegal. Please help resolve my issue.

Check Engine light is illuminated. VANOS exhaust warning codes are stored. Other vehicles with the same N52 engine are subject to recall 23V707. BMW indicates that this vehicle is not included but could be in the future. In the interim, we are faced with a $3500 - $4500 out-of-pocket expense (which will probably never be reimbursed) or the possibility of the events described in the recall, which include a crash. For the safety of drivers of other vehicles in this same series with this same engine, it is imperative that the recall be extended to all potentially affected automobiles. The driver was able to coast to the shoulder of the roadway, where the vehicle initially failed to restart. THE VEHICLE LOST THE ABILITY TO SHIFT FROM P TO R TO N TO D AND VICE VERSA DUE TO A MALFUNCTION OF THE GEAR SHIFTER MECHANISM WHILE DRIVING. THIS BMW MODEL USES A MECHANICAL CABLE TO MOVE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTOR. THE CABLE ASSEMBLY IS HELD IN PLACE BY A METAL CLIP (BMW SECURING PLATE, PART NUMBER 25161421252) SO THE GEAR KNOB CAN PUSH OR PULL THE CABLE FROM P TO R TO N TO D AND VICE VERSA INSIDE THE CABIN WHEN THE DRIVER SELECTS DIFFERENT GEARS. THIS CLIP CAN EASILY FALL OFF AS THE CABLE ASSEMBLY BENDS THE METAL CLIP OVER TIME. THIS ISSUE COULD BE FATAL IF THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS GEARS SUDDENLY FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL OR REVERSE WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED.

Last Saturday, I was driving to New Jersey. I drove from Brooklyn through the Holland Tunnel with no issues. However, after driving about 4 or 5 miles on the New Jersey Turnpike the fuel pump malfunction light came on and the car started to slow down then jerk. Thankfully, I was able to pull off to the side since vehicles travel at a very high speed on the New Jersey Turnpike. After I pulled off to the side the engine stopped and would not restart. I was able to get a tow to the nearest BMW — BMW of Bloomfield. They took my keys and ran my VIN. The service manager from that location advised me that they could fix the fuel pump for me at no cost because it is a known issue and is covered under code SULEV. However, I would have to leave my car there for the weekend. Since I live in Brooklyn, I decided to get another tow to BMW of Manhattan where my car has been since Saturday. I did not receive a call from the service advisor until Monday evening, to whom I explained everything that I just wrote. He told me that there were no open recalls on my vehicle and he would let me know the cost to replace the fuel pump. I explained to him that the service manager at BMW of Bloomfield said that I absolutely should not be charged for the repair because it is covered for New Jersey and New York customers. Also, I looked up the code and issue on Google and saw that other customers had the same issue and BMW repaired the vehicle at no charge. BMW of Manhattan has stated that they will replace the fuel pump at no charge. However, I will need to pay over $1,000 to replace the fuel pump module and FPR module that both malfunctioned. Though the service advisor acknowledged that the fuel pump failure could have triggered the failure of the fuel pump module and the FPR module.

I GOT A PASSENGER RESTRAINT FAILURE LIGHT ON MY VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN. SAID LIGHTS TURNED ON AS I WAS TURNING TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY ROUTE 2 IN FITCHBURG MA. I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH BMWS SINCE MID 2000S YET MINES IS NOT ON RECALL. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING BUT CAN NOT CORRECT THE ERROR. I AM CONCERNED OF AN AIRBAG MALFUNCTION IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. HOPING YOU CAN ASSIST ME WITH THIS ISSUE.

WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM THE THIRD PARTY DEALERSHIP, IT HAD AIRBAG PROBLEM, WHEN I TOLD THE GUY ABOUT THE PROBLEM. HE SAID HE WILL LOWER THE PRICE AND GIVE ME THE CAR. THE AIRBAG FOR THE CAR IS TOO EXPENSIVE SO HE DOESN'T WANT TO MESS AROUND WITH IT.

MY CAR HAS 66K MILES ON IT AND ABOUT A MONTH AGO, THE SEATBELT AND AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHTS SHOWED UP ON THE DASH. THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED TO THE FACT THAT THE SEATBELT DING GOES OFF WHEN THERE IS NOTHING IN THE SEAT IF THE SEAT WAS HOT DUE TO SUN EXPOSURE. THE HEAT PANEL WAS REPLACED A FEW YEARS BACK FOR THE INCESSANT DINGING, BUT RETURNED A FEW MONTHS AGO. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT DING GOES OFF INTERMITTENTLY AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR THE AIRBAG AND SEATBELT ARE CONSTANTLY ON WHILE THE CAR IS ON.

TAKATA AIRBAG PROBLEMS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VECHICLE. WHEN I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM THE THIRD PARTY DEALERSHIP, 'CHASE AUTOPLEX' HE RESETTED THE SETTINGS EVERYTHING WAS WORKING PROPERLY, BUT AFTER GETTING HOME, THE NEXT DAY MY CAR SHOWED AIRBAG PROBLEMS. WHEN I CALLED HIM, HE SAID HE CAN'T HELP ME OUT WITH IT. SO MY QUESTION IS THAT, IF YOU GUYS CAN HELP ME GET A RECALL ON THIS AIRBAG, SO I DON'T HAVE TO SPENT MONEY ON IT MYSELF, I WILL APPRECIATE IT. THANKS

IN LATE 2017-EARLY 2018 THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT WARNING CHIME WOULD COME ON OCCASIONALLY WHEN SOMETHING LESS THAN 5 POUNDS WAS ON THE SEAT AND NO ONE WAS SITTING ON THE SEAT. EVENTUALLY, IT HAPPENED ALL THE TIME WHEN NOTHING AT ALL WAS ON THE SEAT. I ALWAYS NEEDED TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE SEAT BELT CONNECTED. I LEARNED IT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND CONTACTED BMW DEALER IN EARLY 2018 WHEN THE CAR HAD 88254 MILES AND THEY SAID IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD COST ABOUT $1300 TO FIX THE AIRBAG SENSOR MAT. I FOUND A REPAIR PLACE TO REPLACE THE OC3 PASSENGER SEAT MAT WITH BMW PART FOR ALMOST $900. I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM UNTIL AUGUST 2018 I RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR THE EXACT SAME PART FOR OUR OTHER CAR, A 2004 X3 WHICH GAVE A WARRANTY EXTENSION AND OFFERED REIMBURSEMENT IF THE PART HAD ALREADY BEEN REPLACED. I CONTACTED BMW AND THEY REFUSED TO OFFER SAME EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR AIRBAG SENSOR MATTS IN MY 2011 328I. SINCE MY CAR EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS AS THOSE COVERED BY THE WARRANTY EXTENSION AND, I HAVE FOUND ONLINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY BMWS, THE LOGICAL CONCLUSION WOULD INDICATE THAT THERE IS A FLAW WITH THE SENSOR ITSELF NOT SPECIFIC TO THE X3 MODEL. IN FACT THE SENSOR HAS NOT YET FAILED IN OUR 2004 X3 THAT HAS OVER 160,000 MILES. THE 2011 328 SENSOR HAD THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS WITH A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I'VE OWNED MANY VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME FEATURE AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. AT THE VERY LEAST A NEW INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE TO DETERMINE WHETHER THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE FOR ALL BMW MODELS. I DROVE FOR OVER A YEAR WITH THIS PROBLEM UNTIL I REALIZED IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE AIRBAGS MIGHT NOT WORK IF THE SENSOR WAS BROKEN. IT WAS VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX. Previously reported on February 20, 2024. NHTSA #1157301 RDC failure caused complete loss of all dashboard functions except the radio - loss of lights/turn signals/ speedometer/ tachometer/ HVAC etc. Received a call from BMW customer service today February 26,2024 at 4:38 EST duration 17 minutes. BMW informed me the conversation was recorded. I request that NHTSA obtain the transcript for that telephone call. This note will be sent to BMW with request to send a transcript of the call to NHTSA. BMW Custom Relations representative was polite. Her purpose for the call - "to inform me that BMW is cooperating with NHTSA".The person assigned had no useful information nor could she obtain any information to answer questions. Though BMW documents all reported parts failures and complications, she had no ability to provide information relevant to the RDC module problems.The call was useless from an owners viewpoint. It did not improve Customer Relations. The VANOS recall was also discussed.NHTSA: #23V-707 Recall notification October 2023 BMW has not provided a date when the repair will be available. Vanos Bolt problems were identified for my vehicle in 2014!!! A 10 year warranty without mileage limitation was created but BMW owners were not notified - unless engine failure occurred and the car presented to a BMW dealership. I am more than frustrated that repairs have not been initiated. The local BMW dealership would like to repair the car but cannot proceed without corporate approval. Parts are indeed available locally. BMW has been aware of the problems for a DECADE. Furthermore, the valve cover gasket has been replaced twice since 2014. The VANOS bolts were never inspected. The valve cover was replaced last at 149,000 miles. A mechanic advised replacing the VANOS bolts but did not inspect them. Cost of repair $1500. I declined. Abysmal customer service!

Tire pressure yellow warning light on. RDC module ordered but repair not completed. After starting the car at a gas station, multiple warning lights appeared in red including "car on a raised lift in red" which signifies car is to be taken directly for service. Drove to local mechanic one mile away. While observing the car with engine running at idle, ALL dashboard lights and functions stopped: No speedometer, No tachometer, No warning lights, No turn signals, No headlights, RDC module subsequently replaced with resolution of the problem. Opening the old RDC module demonstrated significant green corrosion - likely occurred over a long period of time. IF the loss of all dashboard function had occurred while driving, it would have presented very dangerous safety issues. Situation reviewed with local BMW dealership and BMW corporate customer relations. No recalls or warnings have been issued. Expressed my concerns in detail. This is a potentially dangerous problem for the BMW E90 models. The RDC module is located in the passenger rear wheel well and repeatedly exposed to wet/ snow/ slush conditions. This is a dangerous location outside the vehicle for the RDC module. The Tire pressure monitor system is a non-critical function. Repair of the RDC module is considered optional - yellow warning light. This event demonstrates that there is a serious risk when the RDC module is not functioning properly. BMW should make owners aware and offer replacement before dangerous events occur.

The electrical keeps shutting off and own after hitting speed bumps. It shuts off all power on hvac windows seats and the odometer. I have heard this same issue with many owners

Unable to unlock/lock doors on car (obviously very worrisome), unable to use turn signals, no interior lighting controls or functionality. Unable to control headlights, they still do turn on but I cannot control them. Cannot adjust any mirrors electronically. Some speedometer lighting affect or but the dials do still work, cannot see all buttons inside interior due to electrical issue. Problem: Footwell Control Module (FRM) needs replacement costing around $1300 to do minimum from dealer. This module controls all of the functions above and has gone bad. This FRM module is hidden and not easily gotten to tells me something like a fuse needs to be installed just in case a power surge from the car happens so the car does not break this very expensive equipment. Looked into it online and apparently this happens very often and one guy had to have his replaced twice. This is an obvious issue that will require a remedy.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Footwell module. Computer system that controls turn signals, headlights, highbeams, windows, door locks etc. Yes it is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I can't use my turn signals, highbeams, headlights, Windows. I can't signal my cars lane changes or see clearly at night. I can't roll the windows down or up which creates a unsafe hazard. My child is able to climb out of the window in the back seat while I'm driving. I have zero control over the windows. I can't determine if my child's door is open or closed when the car is in motion. My car doors no longer lock at all. My child can open up the door at any moment that the car is in motion. I'm unable to see at night without my highbeams. I'm now forced to drive with reduced visibility. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Both by a dealership and independent shop. There have been reconcurring warrantee coverages offered but no recalls despite the clear determinant to safety. Common usage of the vehicle at this point in time is a safety concern of all surrounding users and transportation vehicles. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The manufacturer has inspected this module concern. I'm very sure that there have been accidents associated with this module malfunction. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There are zero signs of this issue prior to it's failure. The failure had no warning.

BMW HAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE 328XI ABOUT THE PCV VALVE HEATER AND HAD SENT NOTICE OF THE NEED TO REPLACE AND IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 YEARS AND THEY HAVE NOT FOUND A REMEDY FOR THE FIX. THE BMW WARRANTY GROUP CONFIRMED A DATE ON MARCH 7, 2022 FOR THE REPAIR. UPON GOING TO THE HERB CAMBERS IN BROOKLINE, MA. THEY TOLD ME THEY DID NOT HAVE A REMEDY TO FIX THE ISSUE AND WILL CONTACT WHEN THEY HAVE A FIX. ON APRIL 2022 THEY SENT A LETTER STATING THE PCV VALVE HEATER NEEDS TO BE FIXED UNDER (17V-673 / 19V-273) AND THE REMEDY IS UNAVAILABLE AND A NEW REMEDY NEEDS TO BE PERFORMED. ISSUE IS THAT IF THEY DO NOT FIX THE VALVE HEATER THE ENGINE COULD HEAT UP AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THEY SAY A REMEDY IS BEING WORKED ON, BUT BMW SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE IF A FIRE DOES OCCUR.

The vehicle keeps stalling on the highways and on the streets. We have taken the car in and have towed the car in to the bmw dealership costing us hundreds of dollars on what they think the problem is and it does not fix the issue. They perform a diagnosis and can’t find an issue but the car keeps stalling. The car first starting stalling last year around February.

IN 2018 CLASSIC BMW DEALER DIAGNOSED OIL PAN GASKET LEAKING AND MY OIL LEVEL WAS LOW. HE RECOMMEND GASKET REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $1100 I WROTE LETTER & CALLED BMW CORPORATE USA FOR INVESTIGATION AND RESOLVE THE ISSUE. BUT 1 YR LATER, THEY HAVE NOT RESOLVED THE ISSUE & HAVE USED MY EXPIRED WARRANTY AS REASON FOR NOT LOOKING AT ISSUE. I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS COMMON ISSUE WITH BMW CARS THROUGH MY ONLINE RESEARCH. I WOULD LIKE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE THESE COMPLAINTS.

THE BACK DOOR PASSENGER SIDE WOOD DOOR PANEL IS OFF AND IT WAS NEVER FIXED OR REPLACED WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THIS WILL PROBABLY COST ME MONEY TO GET THE WOOD PANEL PUT BACK ON THE DOOR. THE SAME LIGHTS ALWAYS APPEAR ON MY DASH BOARD. THE INDICATOR LAMPS ARE ON: DSC IS DEACTIVATED. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GET THIS FIXED. THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON AND IT IS ILLUMINATING A YELLOW LIGHT. I MANAGED TO RESET THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT AFTER READING YOUTUBE. I TOOK MY CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND COULDN'T GET THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT TO TURN OFF. ALSO THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAVE NEW BRAKES AND A NEW OIL CHANGE. A FRIEND TOLD ME HOW TO CHECK MY OIL AND MY OIL WAS A QUART LOW. I DROVE TO THE NEAREST GAS STATION AND PUT IN A QUART OF SYNTHETIC BLEND MOTOR OIL. I DISCOVERED AFTER DRIVING TO WASHINGTON FROM LAS VEGAS, NEVADA MY CAR LEAKS FROM MY ENGINE.

MY LICENSE PLATE HAS 1 SCREW THAT FITS INTO THE METAL MADE HOLES. IT IS SUPPOSE TO HAVE 2 SCREWS THAT FIT INTO THE METAL HOLES IN THE TRUNK. THE PLATE ITSELF HAS SCREWS WITH NO BACKS AND ARE STRIPPED. I DON'T WANT THE LICENSE PLATE TO RATTLE AND FALL OFF FROM FAULTY WORKMANSHIP WITH LICENSE PLATE PANEL. ALSO THE FRONT PLATE IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FROM THE BACK LICENSE PLATE PANEL AND THESE SCREWS LOOK STRIPPED TOO.

MY MOONROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED TODAY (AROUND 5:40PM). I WAS DRIVING OPEN ROAD (CITY, ABOUT 30-35MPH) AND THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A ROCK OR OTHER FOREIGN BODY OTHER THAN GLASS IN MY CABIN. THE EDGES OF THE REMAINING GLASS OF THE MOONROOF TILTED UPWARDS. THE NOISE AND GLASS SURPRISED ME AND I DRIFTED INTO THE MEDIAN BRIEFLY BEFORE CALMING DOWN/REGAINING CONTROL.

RE: Recall on 2011 328i Vin# [XXX] I drove the car to run an errand, car was running ok but had a miss. During my drive home, the car stalled. I had to quickly coast to a parking lot in order not to get hit by the car behind me. I tried to restart the car, but it acted as if it needed a jump. Tried to jump the car but it turned over slowly without starting. Ended up getting it towed to Metairie very early the next morning, due to parades. Had a friend of mine, a BMW shop owner, take a look at the car. He told me that he found out that it had a few recalls and he thought that may be the problem. I spoke with a service advisor at BMW dealer that checked the vin and said the recalls would be taken care of along with anything it caused. I made the appointment and had it towed to BMW dea;er. I was assigned to Erin C, Service Advisor, when I made my appointment. My appointment was for 7:30 AM on the 28th of March. I heard from Erin at 4:30 that afternoon with an update. She told me that I had a seized engine and it was going to cost ten thousand or more to replace the engine. I asked if the recall was done on it, because the recall stated that one of the indicators of the Vanos issue was that it would not start any more. I also found information saying that stalling, engine seizing, and oil starvation can be dangerously caused by the recall. Erin stated that they would take the valve cover off to confirm. Didn’t hear from her on Friday, or over the weekend. I got her on the phone Monday evening at 5:30 PM. Erin told me the same information that after they took off the valve cover and videoed it (have not seen that video yet). That my engine was seized. She assured me that they hooked up the car to communicate with the engineers who confirmed, from all the evidence, that the engine seizing was not caused by the recall but lack of oil circulation. If she had a diagnostic done on the car, she had not shared any codes found with me at this INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Nothing has malfunctioned yet on the vehicle, however, these recalls are putting my daughter at risk while driving as there is an air bag and engine recall on the vehicle. Every time we contact the dealership, the recall is still unavailable.

THE BACK SEAT MELTED FOR NO KNOWN REASON. IT STARTED IN THE BACKSEAT ARM REST, AND I HAD TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED, YOU CAN SEE THAT THE LEATHER IS A DIFFERENT COLOR, THEN IT MOVED ONTO THE SEAT. NO ONE EVER SITS BACK THERE, I WENT TO BRAMAN BMW AND THEY SAID IT HAD TO DO WITH THE ELEMENTS, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOU HAD TO KEEP IT IN A GARAGE, THAT IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD OF BEEN TOLD AHEAD OF TIME. STOPPED AFTER EXCITING FREEWAY WITH TRAFFIC FLOW. SUV CAME UP BEHIND ME AND DIDN'T STOP AND HIT ME FROM BEHIND GOING 40-60 MPH. IMPACT THREW ME BACK THEN HEADREST DEPLOYED AND PUNCHED ME IN THE BACK OF HEAD WHICH I THEN HIT SEARING WHEEL. INSTANTLY FELT PAIN IN NECK AND HEAD. TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO HOSPITAL. 2 C.T. SCANS DONE,CHEST XRAYS, AND 2 MRIS OF NECK AND BRAIN SHOWING SPINAL STENOSIS OF CERVICAL REGION, BULGE OF CERVICAL DISC WITHOUT MYELOPATHY. I ALSO SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION AND WHIPLASH WHICH IS STILL PRESENT AS OF TODAY. CAR TOTALLED. AS I WAS MOVING MY CAR FROM A SMALL PARKING LOT NEAR MY HOME, I WAS REVERSING THE CAR AND NOTICED THERE WAS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION AND THE CAR HIT THE BASE OF THE POLE CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO MY REAR BUMPER. SINCE I FELT THE IMPACT, I WAS VERY CAUTIOUS AND PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE MODE TO EXIT THE PARKING LOT WITH VERY LITTLE GAS APPLIED, BUT THE CAR TOOK OFF SUDDENLY AND HIT A PARKED CAR WITH A HUGE IMPACT. IT ALMOST TOTALED THE OTHER CAR AND MY CAR WAS VERY BADLY DAMAGED. INITIAL ESTIMATE TO REPAIR IS AROUND $7,911 BY THE BMW AUTHORIZED BODY SHOP. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER NEXT DAY ASKING THEM TO CHECK IF MY CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE CAR HAS TO BE INSPECTED BY THE BMW ENGINEER, AND THE DEALER CAN'T TOUCH THE CAR BECAUSE OF SUDDEN ACCELERATION ISSUE. I CALLED THE BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP DEPT. RIGHT AWAY, AND THEY SCHEDULED AN ENGINEER TO COME AND LOOK AT MY CAR. ONE WEEK LATER, A BMW ENGINEER CAME TO THE BODY SHOP AND DOWNLOADED THE DATA, AND TODAY I WAS NOTIFIED BY BMW THAT THE CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A LOCAL BMW DEALER AS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE LAST YEAR WITH ABOUT 23K MILES ON IT AND STILL HAS THE WARRANTY.I AM WRITING TO YOU BECAUSE MY FAMILY DOESN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE AND SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR. THROTTLE RESPONSE TO PRESSING ACCELERATOR LAGS DANGEROUSLY. HAVE HAD NUMEROUS INSTANCES WHERE LACK OF RESPONSE HAS PLACED ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. Passenger restraint system malfunction alert when car is turned on. Air bag and passenger seatbelt warning lights are on. Passenger seat belt light will never turn off even with no passengers in the car. Air bags for passenger are off when there is a passenger in the car causing a safety concern. BMW wants $1000 to diagnose what the issue is for the airbag light only but not to fix it or check the seat belt light. Already paid them $100 just to tell me exactly what the message said on the car screen. Seeing the same issue all over the internet with flaws in the passenger restraint system for this model and similar models but no fix. Found an extended warranty but does not list the E92 model, all other models are listed.

I had my passenger in the car driving 30mm and then I got a “restraint system warning ? “ illuminating the seatbelt light and seatbelt with airbag light. This is a safety concern as it is still on without a passenger. This affects the passenger airbag so in the case of fatality this would fall on BMW NA for neglecting to fix this issue. I AM RECEIVING A 'PASSENGER RESTRAINT MALFUNCTION' MESSAGE ON MY DASH AND THE SEATBELT AND AIRBAG LIGHT ARE STUCK ON. ONLINE BMW STATES "THE OC3 MAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CHECK WITH YOUR DEALER, WE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON SOME MODELS." I CHECKED WITH MY DEALER AND THIS DOES NOT QUALIFY. THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS SAFETY REPAIR. I CANNOT SAFELY HAVE ANYONE RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, AND THE SEAT CEASES TO MOVE AS WELL. MY DEALER STATES IT COSTS $1350 TO FIX AND THEY WOULD NEED TO ORDER IN THE PART AND HAVE MY VEHICLE FOR 2 DAYS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. SAFETY ISSUES SHOULD NOT HAVE AN 'EXPIRATION DATE' AS TO WHEN THE DEALER WILL OR WILL NOT COVER IT. THE CARE IS 7 YEARS OLD AND HAS 63,000 MILES. THIS DEFECT WAS COVERED FOR THE 2006 AND 2007 MODELS AND BECAME A RECALL. I SEE ONLINE IN FORUMS OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS IN THE 2011 MODEL. I AM FORCED TO PAY A MECHANIC TO FIX THIS NOW.

The Battery died and had to jump start to take it for a replacement. Once the car started, there was warning related to the lighting system malfunction. I couldnt open the windows and the lights were not functional. Even after the battery was replaced, the functions were not restored. Dealer is recommending replacement of FRM module costing $1250. I understand there was a recall/repair offered for 10 years which i just missed by a year. Looks like it is a well known issue and caused by a simple battery issue causing huge safety issues. I had to drive the car to the dealer without any lights/indicator with tremendous risks. It is an irony that they will fix this issue for only 10 years when there is a clear manufacturing defect and safety issue. Would like to get any help on this issue.

AFTER 3 SEPARATE RECALLS, ALL BMW DEFECTS. NOW CHANGED BATTERY, AND WINDOWS AND DIRECTIONALS WONT WORK. NOW DEFECTIVE FOOTWELL PART COSTING 800PLUS. BMW WILL REPLACE, BUT ONLY IF I TAKE TIME OFF WORK AND HUGE EXPENSE TO DRIVE 4 HRS EACH WAY TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP, BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO TOW, EVEN THO THEIR PART WENT BAD. THEY ARE FORCING ME TO DRIVE (CANT AFFORD TO TOW) A CAR WITH 2 SAFETY RECALLS AND A BAD COMPUTER SYSTEM TO ANOTHER STATE WITH NO VIABLE OPTIONS.

I REMEMBER DRIVING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE AND SMELLING A BURNING SMELL. I HAD THE WINDOWS OPEN BUT IT DIDN'T SEEM LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM OUTSIDE. LATER, THE CAR'S HVAC BLOWER FAN STOPPED WORKING. DURING REPAIR, THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR AND THE HARNESS THAT PLUGS INTO IT WERE FOUND TO BE BADLY BURNED. THE HARNESS WIRES FOR GROUND AND POWER WERE MISSING INSULATION (BURNED AWAY) AND THE COPPER WAS BADLY CORRODED. THE TRIM PANEL DIRECTLY UNDER THE AFFECTED AREA HAS WATER STAINING AND SCORCH MARKS. BMW NA REFUSED TO PAY TO FIX DUE TO MILEAGE EVEN THOUGH CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD AND IS CLEARLY A WATER INTRUSION PROBLEM (LEADING TO A SHORT CIRCUIT AND BURNING) CAUSED BY EITHER A DESIGN OR MANUFACTURING ISSUE

Prior to this incident with my car i was having alot of power issues,the car was giving me alot of issues starting up or after being parked it sometimes wouldnt want to turn on i took my battery to get checked and battery had no issues and i continued to start to have electrical issues with my turning signals my lightning and windows stopped working until January 7 as i was driving my car just began to slowly slow down and completely stopped working that not even a jump start would help it turn on and it lost complete power and function and 2 months after i was contacted about its most recent recall and prior to that i also remember that my coolant wasnt lasting me as usual After being affected by the pandemic and loosing my job while being pregnant and finding out about my cars recall i was afraid of my safety and my kids safety that i havent felt safe to take to a mechanic out of fear that our lifes can be danger if the vehicle catches on fire the way the recall stated that it could happen and its brought major stress and trouble since nothing has been done because i havent had a vechile since

The FRM module has failed for a 3rd time in my 328xi. This module distributes power to many components and since it has failed I have no headlights, no turn signals, no interior lights, no dashboard lights, and cannot roll my windows up or down. This is a known flaw with these cars and if you look on eBay there are bootleg repair services than can temporarily reset it however they often fail again. There are dozens of these sellers on Ebay and all list +1000 sales for their repair services so clearly this is widespread and affects many BMW owners. BMW denies there is an issue but has placed a 10 year warranty on the part, however all 3 series affected by this part are over 10 years old and not eligible for this warranty. Digging around on BMW forums this seems extremely common and almost anything can cause the FRM to fail. Headlights burning out, weak batteries, replacing interior dome lights, and even BMW connecting to the OBDII port to read the ecu are common causes of the FRM failing. I don't understand how they can get away with putting a limited warranty on this and not a full recall when it's clearly a safety concern as I can't safely or legally drive my car with no working lights, and in the event of an emergency cannot roll down my windows to get out of the car.

ALSO MY BLINKERS RANDOMLY STOPPED WORKING AND THE LIGHTING IN MY CAR ALSO DOES NOT COME ON IN THE DASH AREA AND INSIDE MIRROR. Upon starting my vehicle there is a strong smell of gasoline in the cabin. The car was making a noise that has been diagnosed by a mechanic as engine failure and this vehicle is only 10 years old. This car is my only means of transportation. I need someone to help figure out what to do with it. These cars are too costly to consumers to be just be dead in a year span. There is no possible way the manufacture is unaware of these issues. My car has had a burning smell that could never be located by the dealer. Though it all there are still zero safety lights to point me in any direction.. how can it be possible that something seeming so unstable have no warning lights to give indication that something is wrong with it . I’m just tired of all these entities being able to deliberately falsify information to entice me to purchase a vehicle knowing it has failures and safety issues. I don’t have another car. I want to use the one l already paid for. I need someone who cares to help me. I shouldn’t be fearful for my life driving a vehicle on the road. If someone can please look into what can be done by the manufacturer, I would appreciate it. The dealer deems this vehicle inoperable.. where do I go from here???

MY ISSUE IS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL CAMPAIGN 14V-176, ALSO LISTED AS SI B11 07 14. IT IS A FAULTY VANOS UNIT WITH FAILING BOLTS. MY CAR'S MODEL AND YEAR ARE LISTED IN BOTH OF THESE DOCUMENTS, HOWEVER MY SPECIFIC VIN IS NOT LISTED AS PART OF THE RECALL. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY DAMAGED DUE TO THE VANOS BOLTS SHEARING OFF COMPLETELY AND FALLING INTO THE OIL PAN, AS DESCRIBED EXACTLY IN THE ABOVE RECALL NOTICES. THIS IS THE DIAGNOSIS FROM BMW OF SEATTLE. IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT MY CAR SUFFERS THE SAME FAULTY PART AS LISTED AND SHOULD BE PART OF THE RECALL. I BELIEVE IT IS IN ERROR THAT IT IS NOT. AS IT STANDS, BMW CANNOT HELP ME AND ARE FORCING ME TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TELLS ME THAT MY VIN SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT ISN'T, BUT BECAUSE IT ISN'T THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE UNDER THE RECALL. 3-TIMES THE CAR'S ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF BY THE COMPUTER WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE STREETS. CAR INFO SAYS "FUEL PUMP, SERVICE SOON" AND THEN THE CAR WON'T START FOR AN HOUR. FIRST TIME WE TOOK IT TO BEVERLY HILLS BMW CENTER AND THEY REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. NEXT DAY, FUEL ALL OVER OUR GARAGE. TOOK IT BACK FOR THEM TO SECURE IT BETTER.NEXT MORNING WE GOT GAS ALL OVER THE GARAGE AGAIN. I HAD TO SECURE THE FUEL PUMP. I'M NOT CONFIDENT IN THE SERVICE AT BMW CENTERS BUT I REALLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR TURNING OFF WHILE YOUR IN THE FAST LINE ON THE FREEWAY. MY BMW 328I E93 HAS THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON (SES) LIGHT COME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE COMPUTER SHOWS ERROR CODE 2B3A (P1449 DMTL SYSTEM FAULT). There is a safety recall on my car. This recall involves an engine component known as the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve heater. The PCV valve heater may not have been produced to specifications which could lead to a short circuit. BMW DOES NOT HAVE AN AVAILABLE REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY TIMELINE FOR FIXING IT.

Footwell module (FRM) module went out after negative battery disconnect to change fuse. i was driving to work and the car stalled in the middle of traffic when i slowed the vehicle down, the idle is rough and all over the place, car is very hesitant to accelerate and vibrates or shakes when approaching any speed. then the check engine light popped on and is still on, i’ve parked the car since the incident to do some research on what the cause could be.

The engine made noise and then turned off. Would not restart. BMW dealer diagnosed the problem as a failed exhaust camshaft Vanos unit. BMW refuses to repair it even though it the engine, model and year fit the Vanos recall. This is the second BMW vehicle I have owned that failed for this reason, but was outside the covered claimed VIN numbers. I am requesting that you investigate this as wider range of vehicles, fitting the recall description exactly, but not covered, are failing...this vehicle is a 2011 with only 62,000 miles. I would also like a list of the VIN numbers currently affected.

2011 328I WITH 53,500 MILES. ENGINE COLD START HESITATION WITH VIBRATIONS WHILE IDLING STATIONARY. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE ISSUE, OIL CHANGE. DID RESEARCH INTO THE ISSUE WITH OTHER BMW OWNERS WHICH HAD THE VEHICLES SERVICED FOR REPLACEMENTS OF VANOS, MASS AIR FLOW SENSORS, ETC. THESE CODES WEREN'T SHOWING UP ON MY VEHICLE. DECIDED TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY ENGINE MYSELF AND NOTICED OIL LEAKING FROM THE VALVE COVER GASKET AREA AND COULD SEE OIL THAT HAD LEAK ON THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE BAY, NOW AT 60K MILES, TOOK IT IN EARLY FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND DIAGNOSIS AGAIN DUE TO POSSIBLE FIRE IF OIL SPILLS ON MOUNTING STRUTS. THIS REPLACEMENT WILL COST ME ANOTHER $2K+ FOR A VALVE COVER GASKET AND OIL PAN GASKET REPLACEMENTS, YET THIS WASN'T MADE KNOWN WHEN I HAD GOTTEN MY OIL CHANGED PREVIOUSLY. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ENGINE FIRE AND BMW'S NEGLIGENCE IN TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MANUFACTURING FLAWS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SO MANY OWNERS ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THESE ISSUES STARTING EARLY AT 40K MILES.

THIS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BMW DEALER'S SERVICE NUMEROUS TIME FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WHEN IT WAS UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BUT THE SERVICE AND BMW USA ALWAYS SAID THAT NONE OF THE OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE EVER REPORTED THIS ISSUE AND THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT FROM ANOTHER CUSTOMER.

I HAD INSTALLED 4 NEW TIRES [P225/45R-17 MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4 ZP TPC SPEC, RUN FLAT] IN NOVEMBER 2017 ON MY 2011 BMW 328I. ONE YEAR LATER I STARTED TO GET TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ON MY REAR RIGHT TIRE. WHEN I WENT TO CHECK THE AIR, I NOTICED BOTH OF MY REAR TIRES WERE BOLD LIKE RACE CAR TIRES. I CALLED TIRE RACK TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE WARRANTY, THEY ASKED ME TO BY NEW ONES AND SEND THE OLD ONES BACK. I AM JUST CONCERN WITH THE CONDITION, IF THE TIRES SHOULD GET THIS BAD BEFORE ANY WARNING. The the OC3 MAT on the passanger car just showed up faulty which causes the air bag light to also come on. I have seen a lot of others posting they are having the same issue. Can you help me find out if this has already been recalled but not replaced on my car or if it hasn't even been recalled yet this is a safety issue. Because the airbags will not function if the oc3 mat is not functioning properly. There wasn't anyone in the seat and the car had not been in an accident when the lights for the seat and airbags came on I took it in for a diagnostic and they said it was the passenger OC3 mat . I have read some of the same modle had already had recalls just trying to find out if this was one that should have been because the rep at the dealer ship said this was the first one he's ever seen go bad on any car since he's been there. The big problem I'm having is the warranty I bought with the car won't cover this repair either and I'm a disabled veteran so I can't afford it at this moment.

AT TEMPERATURE ABOVE 87 DEGREES F (AFTER A FULL DAY IN OPEN PARKING LOT UNDER SUN) AS INDICATED ON THE CAR'S DASHBOARD, THE SEAT BELT SENSOR OF THE CAR MALFUNCTIONED. EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY SEAT BELT FIRMLY CLASPED BUT THE CAR KEPT ON BEEPING SEATBELT WARNING FOR ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES UNTIL THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE CAR DROPPED TO LESS THAN 87 DEGREES F. THE SEATBELT WARNING WENT AWAY AFTER I OPENED THE WINDOW AND LET THE CAR COOL DOWN OR SWITCHED ON AC IN THE CAR. THIS IS A REPEATABLE PROBLEM AND CAN BE REPRODUCED IF MY CAR IS KEPT IN DIRECT SUMMER SUN FOR AN AFTERNOON AND HAS OCCURRED A NUMBER OF TIMES IN THE PAST. The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328I. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact's husband coasted the vehicle off to the shoulder of the highway. The contact's husband attempted to shift the vehicle into different gears; however, the vehicle remained in neutral(N). Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to a dealer and diagnosed with transmission failure. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic for a second opinion and received the same diagnosis. The contact paid out of pocket for the transmission repair however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); but the parts for the recall repair were unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

DROVE IMMEDIATELY TO DEALERSHIP, WHO FOUND NO FAULT CODES AND MADE NO REPAIRS. VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY AFTERWARDS. ODOMETER APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES. 2.) VEHICLE STALLED WHILE IDLING IN NEUTRAL AT A STOP LIGHT (0 MPH). ENGINE DIED WITH NO SHUDDER OR ANY ABNORMAL NOISES. VEHICLE RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY AND DROVE NORMALLY AFTERWARDS. A LETTER FROM BMW CAME IN JUNE 2014 STATING THAT MY VEHICLE IS EFFECTED FOR IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL AND THAT I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PARTS BECOME AVAILABLE TO HAVE IT FIXED. THE RECALL WAS FOR VANOS ASSEMBLY BOLTS. THE LETTER STATES THAT I MAY HEAR INCREASED NOISE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MAY COME ON LEADING TO REDUCED POWER LEADING TO ENGINE STALL. I NOTICED ON THIS WEBSITE MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND LEADING TO STEERING WHEEL TO LOCK AND ENGINE TO SHUT OFF WHICH CAN LEAD TO INJURY AND DEATH OF ANYONE ON THE ROADS. I HAVE CALLED MY DEALER AS WELL BMW HEADQUARTERS AND BOTH STATE THAT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE PARTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE. I HAVE HAD SEVEN (7) ABS WHEEL SPEED SENSORS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT (EVERY WHEEL AT LEAST ONCE, THE RIGHT FRONT TWICE, AND THE LEFT FRONT THREE TIMES) SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2011. IT CURRENTLY HAS RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE (<41,000 MILES); THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED IN JANUARY 2014 AT ABOUT 12, 700 MILES. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE AN ABS WHEEL SENSOR ON ANY OF THE NUMEROUS OTHER CARS WITH ABS THAT I HAVE OWNED SINCE 1989. THE LOSS OF ABS FUNCTION CREATES AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN THE SENSOR FAILS, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ALL COME ON - INTERMITTENTLY INITIALLY, BUT SOON LIT AT ALL TIMES. THE WIRING AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS FOR THE SYSTEM THAT CONTROLS AIR FLOW FOR THE HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM MAY OVERHEAT. CONSEQUENCE WIRING THAT OVERHEATS COULD CAUSE THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS TO MELT, AND INCREASE THE RISK OF A FIRE, EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS UNATTENDED. THE VEHICLES RDC MODULE THAT COMMUNICATES TO THE TPMS GETS WET AND CAUSES A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE. THIS MODULE ON IS LOCATED UNDER THE PASSENGER REAR WHEEL SPLASH SHIELD ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND IS EXPOSED TO ELEMENTS. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN AND LOCATION. MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH HALOGEN HEADLAMPS AND HALOGEN DRL. THE CAR HAS POOR ROAD VISIBILITY AT NIGHT DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE HEADLAMPS. I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO BMW WHILE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY FOR UNEVEN BRIGHTNESS IN THE HEADLAMPS. THE TECHS JUST ADJUSTED THE HEADLAMPS, BUT THIS HAD NO EFFECT ON THE VISIBILITY. DURING MY NEXT WARRANTY VISIT, I BROUGHT UP THE HEADLAMP ISSUE AGAIN AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THAT THAT WHEN THE CAR HITS BUMPS THE HEADLAMPS GO OUT OF ALIGNMENT. THE HEADLAMPS WERE THEN AGAIN READJUSTED. THIS STILL DIDN'T IMPROVE THE HEADLAMP SITUATION. JUST RECENTLY I SAW ON FOX FIVE NEWS THAT MY MODEL VEHICLE HAD THE WORST RATING FOR HEADLAMP QUALITY. FOX FIVE NEWS STATED THAT OWNERS OF MY VEHICLE SHOULD USE HIGH BEAMS WHEN THEY CAN'T SEE WELL AT NIGHT. I LIVE IN THE CITY AND I CAN'T DRIVE WITH HIGH BEAMS ON ALL THE TIME. AC/HEAT BLOWER MOTOR AND FINAL STAGE UNIT, VEHICLE AT 5700 MILES BURNED OUT RESISTOR/HARNESS CONNECTIONS. WHILE IN MOTION, BLOWER SUDDENLY STOP AND SAW SMOKE COME OUT OF THE VENT WITH A BURNING SMELL DUE TO THE ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE FAN SWITCH OFF. THE RESISTOR BURNED OUT AND FRAYED THE WIRES OF THE BLOWER MOTOR. RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM TO THE 2013 AND EARLIER MODELS. DUE TO THIS ISSUE, THE MANUFACTURER CHANGED THEIR DESIGN/ HARNESS BUT DID NOT PERFORM A RECALL ON ANY VEHICLES. THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO INTERNAL CABIN FIRES AND TOTAL VEHICLE LOSS DUE TO ELECTRICAL FIRES. I DID HAVE MY PARTS REPLACED AT MY OWN EXPENSE DUE TO VEHICLE OUT OF WARRANTY.

BMW issued a recall 10/23/2023 for VANOS Assembly (Engine) Bolts and I have been trying to get my vehicle repaired since January 2, 2024 when my care started having a rough running engine with the Check Engine lamp illuminated and the car was barely maintaining speed on the interstate. I was fearful of having a wreck or being run over by the other cars since my car was not responding to giving it gas to accelerate on the road. I have contacted BMW on 1/2/2024, 4/15/2024, and gain today 5/21/2024 and they are telling me the remedy is still not available. I had Groves Automotive, a certified BMW repair shop, who are my automotive repair shop call for the repair too. My car was just serviced at Groves in the last 3 weeks and passed inspection. The Check Engine warning lamp came on again this morning while driving to work and again the vehicle was not able to accelerate and was running very rough. I am fearful of my safety and the safety of others when I have to drive back and forth to work.

I got up to leave my house and entered my vehicle and proceeded to start my car. I started it and moved the gear shift so that I can reverse out my driveway. With my foot on the brake I attempted to put the car in reverse and soon as I took the car out of park, my car accelerated forward and the brakes completely locked up. It accelerated so hard and fast that it broke through my gate and knocked down my other gate. I turned the car off when it accelerated because the brakes locked and even with the power off the car accelerated. There is no possible way my foot was on the gas because I was pulled in my driveway facing my house and had that been the case I would’ve went backwards not forward. The very second I took the car out of park it accelerated forward and would not stop. Luckily I thought to turn it off as a last resort and even then it continued to accelerate and knock down my second gate as well. I was very scared and as a safety precaution, I will no longer drive the car. Had I been anywhere but home this could’ve caused serious injury to myself or others and had it been parked a few feet over it would’ve accelerated into my living room where my son was sitting.

While driving at city speed limit the headlights started flicking on-off very difficult to see in the dark. I pulled over to the side of the road for safety but now realized the turn signals not working and also the hazard lights are not working either. I was in a very dangerous situation sitting on the side of the road without any warning light on. Not only for mine safety but also dangerous for other drivers passing by without seen my car in the dark. Its due to well known BMW FOOTWELL MODULE that has high failure incidents rate but BMW refused not to do a recall. Since this a safety issue NHTSA should request BMW to do a recall instead of just extended the warranty to 10/150K miles which my car is not qualify for. I've contacted BMW customer care but they refused to offer any assistance. I feel that BMW has deserted their customer and leaving a high cost burden on their customers although failure/flaw was directly from BMW.

The contact owns a 2011 BMW 328i. The contact received notification of the NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V119000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact then stated that he noticed that the front passenger’s side interior door handle disintegrated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the door handle melted and needed to be replaced. Additionally, the local dealer was notified of the recall notice and confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall repair however, the contact was advised to call the manufacturer. The contact was concerned that touching the door handle could cause harm to a passenger touching the door handle and could catch fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was informed that the repair was being developed and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. Parts distributions disconnect.

In approximately 2014 the passenger seatbelt sensor randomly started dinging while driving and the seat was NOT occupied. I solved the issue by clipping the seat belt. This issue continued randomly for years and was always solved by clipping the seatbelt. Just this week May 2022, I had a passenger who while getting into the car once the seat belt was disengaged, the sensor immediatly started ding and would not stop and the "Service Engine Soon" dashboard light came on simultaneously. The Service light stayed on throughout the journey and has not turned off. The recall for a faulty seat mat does not extend beyond 2008 when CLEARLY, the seat mat continues to have issues beyond that year. I RARELY have a passenger and my 2011 has ~43K miles. This should be a manufacturer-funded repair as it is clearly a DEFECT in the product.

My driver and passenger airbags deployed because my car all of the sudden lurched forward on it's own and I bumped the car in front of me and when it happened my car started accelerating and revving all on it's own into the car ahead and I was trying to make it stop by pushing the brakes but the brake pedal wouldnt move it was hard and wouldnt move so my car kept accelerating bumping the car in front of me over and over and I was stomping down on the brake pedal to make it stop but it wouldnt. After about 30 seconds of this it just stopped. The airbags were blowing out very hot air that burned and bruised my left arm very badley and myself and my minor passenger were choking from it. My driver side window and windshield were both broken from the explosion of the airbags but the body of my car wasn't damaged. I had noticed that sometimes the display in my car wouldnt show all the car controls but never imagined the car would malfunction like this. Now the repair shop wants the same amount of money that I initially paid for the car to repair it and my insurance is not covering it. Please help because this was not my fault the car malfunctioned.

SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE. 04/03/18-104795 MILES ON THE VEHICLE IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR -BLOWER MOTOR RECALL WAS PERFORMED DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOURS WAS INOPERABLE -PCV VALVE RECALL -CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND THE CAUSE WAS THE FUEL PUMP. AFTER INSPECTING WHAT WE COULD OF THE MODULE THAT IS WHEN THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THAT THERE WAS WATER IN THE PASSENGER REAR FLOORBOARD. -FUEL PUMP MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN (CAUSE IS THE EKPS MODULE) THE MODULE CONTROLS WHAT THE FUEL PUMP DOES. IF THIS MODULE IS MALFUNCTIONING THEN THE FUEL PUMP ISN'T OPERATING PROPERLY RESULTING IN THE 'FUEL PUMP' MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN. BEFORE ANY PROMPTS ON THE NAVIGATION SCREEN EVER CAME UP, I WOULD OFTEN SOMETIMES SMELL SOMETHING BURNING OR GIVING OFF A HOT RUBBER SMELL WHICH I ADDRESSED AS SOON I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM QUEENS AUTO MALL AUCTION, THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT IF I DID NOT SEE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY BMW 328 XI 2011 THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND A FUEL PUMP MALFUNCTION DISPLAY PROMPTED ON MY NAVIGATION SCREEN. THE CAR STOPPED ON A BRIDGE IN THE LEFT LANE WITHOUT ME BEING ABLE TO PULL OVER. THE CAR WOULD NOT START UP AGAIN AT ALL AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. I WAITED ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED UP AGAIN. I DROVE IT BACK HOME 5 MIN AWAY AND GOT MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE BMW OF MANHATTAN WHERE THEY SAY THEY TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM. ONCE I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE, I DROVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MINUTES BEFORE THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED AGAIN AND I WAS BARELY ABLE TO SWITCH INTO THE RIGHT LANE SO I CAN PULL OVER AND HAVE ANOTHER TOW COME AND TAKE MY CAR TO BMW OF MANHATTAN JUST AN HOUR AFTER I HAD IT SERVICED. I HAD THE RECALL FOR THE PCV VALVE HEATER REPLACED AT THAT SERVICE SO I KNOW THE SAME FIRE/RUBBER BURNING SMELL CAN'T POSSIBLY BE FROM THAT VALVE RECALL. I WAS DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC IN TOWN AT 4 PM ON A SUNNY DAY. THE CAR AHEAD OF ME SLOWED DOWN EVEN MORE AND WHEN I WAS TRYING TO SLOW MY CAR TOO, IT DID NOT SLOW DOWN AT ALL. I DID HIT THE CAR AHEAD OF ME AT A SLOW SPEED AND THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED CAUSING SEVERE INJURY TO MY RIGHT WRIST AND TO THE LEFT WRIST. IT CAUSED PROFUSE BLEEDING BECAUSE THE AIR BAG CAUSED CUTS IN MY WRIST AREA, VERY CLOSE TO A VEIN. A FIVE INCH HEMATOMA APPEARED WITHIN MINUTES IN THE RIGHT WRIST AND THE SKIN WAS SCRAPED OFF BOTH WRISTS. SEVERAL BURN MARKS ARE ALSO VISIBLE ALL THE WAY UP TO THE BEND OF MY ARMS. THE POLICE CAME WITHIN MINUTES AND THEY BANDAGED MY WRISTS TO TRY TO STOP THE BLEEDING. AN AMBULANCE WAS CALLED AND THE EMT WANTED TO TRANSPORT ME TO A HOSPITAL.

WHILE LOOKING UP THE RECALL FOR THE TAKATA RECALL, I NOTICED THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL ON MY CAR FOR THE VANOS HOUSING BOLTS, I HAD NOT RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL EVEN THOUGH I HAD UPDATED MY ACCOUNT WITH BMW AT FIRST NOTICE OF THE TANAKA RECALL. I HAD MY CAR SERVICED FOR THE VANO HOUSING REPAIR WHICH THEY REMOVED THE VALVE COVER TO INSPECT THE BOLTS AND FOUND A BROKEN BOLT ON THE VANOS HOUSING AND REPLACED THE EXHAUST, REMOVED AND INSPECTED THE OIL PAN TO REMOVE THE FRAGMENTS. I PAID FOR AN OIL CHANGE THAT DAY. LESS THAN 7300 MILES AND 2 QUARTS OF OIL LATER I WAS EXPERIENCING AN OIL LEAK THAT WAS CAUSED BY AN IMPROPERLY SEATED VALVE COVER NOT SEATING TO THE CYLINDER HEAD. THEY OFFERED TO REPAIR A BROKEN CYLINDER HEAD BOLT FOR $500 I DECLINED AS MY MECHANIC SAID IT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE AND THEY SHOULD REPAIR A BOLT IF THEY ARE ALREADY IN THERE. I'D ALSO LIKE TO NOTE THAT THE RECALL LISTED THE REPAIR WAS TO TAKE 4 HOURS BUT THEY HAD MY CAR 3 DAYS. NO LOANER WAS GIVEN UNTIL THE END OF THE 2ND DAY. THEY ARE NOW REFUSING TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE VALVE COVER $1000 REPAIR. I NOTICED ONLINE THAT SEVERAL DEALERS REPLACED THE VALVE COVER AS A PART OF THIS SERVICE TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM, THOUGH BERT SMITH BMW ST. PETERSBURG, FL DID NOT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 BMW 328I. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO UTILIZE THE DEFROST TO CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD, THE DEFROSTER FAILED TO WORK. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR IN THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT WINDOWS WOULD NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING; HOWEVER THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STRAIGHT ROAD AT 50 MPH, A VERY LOUD POP WAS HEARD ALMOST LIKE AN EXPLOSION. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THE ENTIRE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED. IT WAS A CLEAR DAY WITH TEMPS IN THE 70'S. NO OTHER VEHICLES WERE IN THE VICINITY AT TIME OF EVENT. NO ROAD DEBRI WAS NOTED ON ROADWAY. THE GLASS APPEARED TO BE PUSHED OUT LIKE IT WAS CAUSED BY A PRESSURE DIFFERENCE. AT THE TIME OF EVENT, ALL THE WINDOWS WERE UP WITH THE A/C ON. PIECES OF THE GLASS HAD FLOWN BACK AND SCRATCHED THE PAINT DOWN TO METAL ON BOTH THE ROOF AND TRUNK-LID. I HAD MY TWO SMALL KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME AND THEY WERE BOTH TERRIFIED AFTER HEARING THE NOISE. LUCKILY THE SHADE COVER WAS IN PLACE AND NO GLASS ENTERED THE PASSENGER SPACE. BMW IS NOT WILLING TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT OR COVER THE COST.

WHILE DRIVING ALONG AT APPROXIMATELY 35MPH, MY 2011 328I SHUT OFF. DUE TO MY GIVEN RELATIVELY LOW SPEED AND LOCATION (BACK ROAD) I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR SAFELY TO THE SHOULDER. ONCE STOPPED, I ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE. THE CAR WOULD START. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST BMW SERVICE FACILITY. THE BMW REPAIR TECHNICIAN ADVISED AN INTERNAL FUEL LINK CRACKED, THUS THE CAR HAD EFFECTIVELY RUN OUT OF GAS. THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK AND PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH FOR "2011 BMW 328I SWOLLEN FUEL PUMP" REVEALS OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AS WELL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS THE CAR COULD HAVE SHUT OFF AND FAILED AT ANY TIME. I COULD HAVE BEEN TRAVELLING AT 65MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I WANT TO KNOW IF THE REPLACEMENT FUEL TANK AND PUMP THAT BMW INSTALLED IN MY CAR ADDRESS WHAT IS CLEARLY AN ENGINEERING AND DESIGN FAULT, OR AM I AT RISK OF THIS HAPPENING IN THE FUTURE AS WELL? 2011 BMW 328I. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO AIR BAG MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, SHE NOTICED WHEN DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 10 MPH OR LOWER, APPLYING THE BRAKE, OR PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SURGE FORWARD UNEXPECTEDLY. THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THE SAME SURGING FOR A SECOND TIME, AS SHE PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE. THE VEHICLE WENT OVER A CURB AND INTO SOME BUSHES. AS A RESULT, SHE RECEIVED WHIP-LASH TO HER NECK AND SLIGHTLY BRUISED HER ELBOWS, KNEES AND HURT HER CHEST ON THE STEERING WHEEL. BMW SENT AN ENGINEER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND CONCLUDED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. AFTER PICKING UP THE VEHICLE A WEEK LATER, THE CONSUMER AND HER HUSBAND CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE. A MONTH LATER, THE CONSUMERS HUSBAND PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE WHEN THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY SURGED FORWARD AND HIT A PARKED SUV IN FRONT OF HIM, WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FRONT BUMPER. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY KEPT IT FOR TWO WEEKS. THE DEALER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS FINE AND IT WAS READY FOR PICK-UP. HOWEVER, TWO DAYS LATER, THE VEHICLE SURGED AGAIN, AS THE CONSUMER WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED THREE TIMES, WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS OF FINDING THE PROBLEM. THE MECHANISM/GEAR WOULD SHIFT WHEN DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED OR RIDING THE BRAKE AT A LOW SPEED WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 13V044000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, CONTINUED TO EXHIBIT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ISSUES WITH THE POWER LOCKS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHICH DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRICAL LOCK SYSTEM IN BOTH THE FRONT DOORS WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE LOCK SYSTEM WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.

ACCIDENT HAPPENED IN LOS ANGELES. I WAS HEADING EAST ON 3RD STREET ( MAIN ROAD) 2 LANES, I WAS ON THE RIGHT LANE. OPPOSITE SIDE ALSO HAS 2 LANES GOING WEST. WESTMORELAND IS AN INTERSECTION ON 3RD STREET AND HAS THE STOP SIGN. THE VECHILE CROSSED 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC AND HIT MY CAR ON THE DRIVE SIDE REAR WHEEL AND QUARTER PANEL. AT THE TIME OF IMPACT, THE MOMENTUM HAD ME GOING ALMOST SIDEWAYS ONTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. AND MY BIGGEST CONCERN WAS, THE 2 PASSENGER SIDE DOORS FLUNG OPEN. EVERYONE HAD THEIR SEATBELTS ON. MY WIF'E'S SHOULDER BAG WHICH WAS TUCKED ON THE FLOOR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ON 3RD WESTMORELAND. THE CAR WAS DISABLE AND CAN'T BE DRIVEN BECAUSE THE REAR WHEEL WAS BENT. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND TOLD THE BMW AUTHORIZED REPAIR SHOP. I AM NOT SURE IF THE DOORS WHERE DESIGNED TO OPEN DURING A COLLISION BUT INQUIRIES TO BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND DEALERSHIP HAS GOTTEN NOWHERE. VEHICLE DRIVES TO THE RIGHT WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS POSITIONED IN THE CENTER POSITION. STRAIGHT-LINE DRIVING POSITION IS SEVERAL DEGREES TO THE LEFT. PULL TO THE RIGHT WAS AMPLIFIED WITH SPEED; HIGHWAY DRIVING WAS VERY NOTICEABLE. DEALER PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT AT 1600 MILES AND FOUND REAR CAMBER, REAR TOE, AND FRONT LEFT TOE OUT OF SPEC. IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARDS THE PROBLEM REMAINED. TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AT 2200 MILES FOR ANOTHER ALIGNMENT. BMW 328/2011- POOR RAIN HANDLING & LACK OF AIRBAG(S) DEPLOYING IN CRASH WHERE CAR WAS TOTALED. I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN AND VISIBILITY WAS FINE. MY CAR STARTED TO HYDROPLANE AND STARTED FISHTAILING, THEN SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND INTO A GUARD RAIL ON I-95. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MY CAR HAS BEEN DECLARED A "TOTAL LOSS." I HAVE HAD 5 CARS AND 2 OF THEM WERE BMW 3 SERIES. MY 2007 BMW NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I'VE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THIS ONE AND AM CONFIDENT DRIVING IN THE RAIN. I DO NOT FEEL THAT MY BMW PERFORMED LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE. I DID NOT SUFFER "SERIOUS" INJURIES BUT AM HAVING TO GO TO A CHIROPRATOR AND GET DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE TWICE WEEKLY. I'M NOT SURE IF THE AIRBAGS WOULD HAVE HELPED MY SITUATION (I HIT MY HEAD AND AM HAVING WHAT I'M SURE ARE "NORMAL" PROBLEMS AFTER AN AUTO ACCIDENT.) *TR
